The Gaming Community Reacts to Fortnite: Battle Royale Receiving a $100 Million Prize Pool for Esports Between 2018 and 2019 – Nadeshot, H3CZ, KEEMSTAR, and More! The gaming community went into a frenzy following the announcement by Epic Games that Fortnite: Battle Royale will have a $100 million prize pool between 2018 and 2019 for esports competition. In a shocking reveal, Epic Games announced on May 21st that Fortnite: Battle Royale will receive a $100 million prize pool between 2018 and 2019 for various esports tournaments and competitions. A sanctioned tournament has still yet to be held for the Battle Royale game since its release in 2017, with the genre as a whole still being relatively new when it comes to esports due to the ‘randomness’ of loot and other in-game aspects. Although many thought that the announcement included some sort of typo, it later settled in that the title will actually include such a massive sum of money, leading to a number of different reactions from gaming community members across the board. Whether it is someone in complete and utter disbelief or a professional esports competitor joking about changing titles, some of the best community reactions can be viewed below.
