    How to build 15 secret weapons in Modern Warfare: AK74u, M16, more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have figured out a way to use the in-game Gunsmith feature to build weapons that are technically not available in the game. Weapons along with gunplay have been the main focus of every Call of Duty title, and Infinity Ward managed to take that to a whole new level with Modern Warfare. Not only are the guns in MW as realistic as can be, they all also have dozens of attachments that each offer their own pros and cons, with players being able to equip up to five on each weapon. It did not take long for players to figure out that certain combinations of attachments actually make a profound difference on some guns – essentially turning them into almost completely different weapons that aren’t available in the game. In total, there are 15 of these “secret” weapons that can be created, many of which are classic guns from past Call of Duty titles. The move appears reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed, where players could dive into hay bales or bushes from insane heights, in order to stick the landing. Not only does the player survive the fall, but after being propelled forward from their momentum on the dumpster, they manage to land a flashy kill to top it off. Although the jump isn’t from the tallest building on the map, the mechanics of avoiding fall damage still apply. Once the rest have been shot, a flurry of beach balls will begin to rain down from the opening in the roof and fill the map. It’s even more curious that it was also used as part of an elaborate easter egg in Season 1 of Apex Legends, as well as the Titanfall series, both of which were developed by Respawn Entertainment. As suggested by the YouTuber, this isn’t a coincidence. Apparently, when Apex was being developed, several Infinity Ward developers moved to Respawn to help out with the game. Stadium loot room locations There are three locations, and at least two have been verified to be unlocked and full of loot thus far. For now, most players don’t know about these spots — but they will increase in popularity as people find out. How to access Warzone’s Stadium loot rooms The first loot room (No. 1) is on the westernmost corner of the middle level near the bar (or, technically, Concourse Lounge) – The second room (No. 2) is on the top floor, near the southernmost corner – The third room (No. 3) is also on the top floor, located north-east of No. 2 – No cards are necessary for any of the rooms, so drop in and loot up for free – As shown in a Reddit video from ‘errlloyd,’ the Stadium rooms can be opened without a card and remain home to tons of legendary loot chests. Just like the popular toys from the late 1990s, the Tomogunchis ask their owners to keep small animal avatars happily fed and alive by providing them nutrients throughout their lives. Modern Warfare players will be able to choose from a range of virtual pets including a panda, a dog, and a dragon. Unlike real-life handheld devices, however, players will have a different way of providing for their Tomogunchi. Modern Warfare’s new Tomogunchi pets After buying into the Tomogunchi Bundle, players can put on their new watch pet by going into the Watch Select menu from the Weapons tab equipping it from there. Tomogunchi pets can be fed and evolved only if they are equipped to the player’s wrist, so don’t forget to select it before going into a match. Once in the game, it will take time before the egg on the watch’s screen cracks open. Once it does, the pet will appear in its baby form and players can raise it into a child, a teenager, and then into an adult. Though Infinity Ward also teased “multiple pet forms and options to discover.” Tomogunchi pet emotions Tomogunchi pets have all sorts of emotions that include hungry, dirty, unruly, and sleepy. If your pet isn’t feeling any of those emotions, then it’s happy and you’re doing a great job at keeping it alive. However, if it starts to slip into a mood, it’s your job to get it back into a happy state by providing it kills, objective scoring, killstreaks, and wins. If a player fails to acquire those, then the Tomogunchi will go from happy to neutral then to sad and then will ultimately die. You can keep up with the status of your pet during the game by pushing up on the D-Pad or the up-arrow key, and use the ‘Watch Interact’ command. Engaging with your pet as you play MW is important to keep its spirits up. Evolving your Tomogunchi Players can evolve their Tomogunchi more quickly by using the “bonus charge.” A meter below the pets can be filled to speed up its growth, but there are different ways of loading up the bar depending on which pet you have. By getting captures, killstreaks, plants, or top three wins, players can fill the meter up and quickly grow their pet. But keep checking up on your Tomogunchi to see which method speeds its growth quicker. With the beta testing, one of the main components Treyarch is investigating is the speed of matches, which is affected by a number of factors: popularity of drop zones, player count and the ‘collapse’ circle. The ‘collapse’ is Blackout’s name for the safe zone (i.e. the area not covered by the blueish storm area which will deal damage if within its perimeter), and this mode significantly increases the rate at which the collapse area becomes smaller. In the standard modes, the first collapse area gets smaller two minutes after initial insertion (or ‘infiltration’), and sequentially shorter times after that. Fast Collapse, which is currently only available in the ‘quads’ mode significantly increases the speed that the circular area will reduce in size, with the storm moving in at a more frequent rate. Treyarch hasn’t said whether it will be available for duos or solos yet, but depending on how players enjoy the new playlist in quads we could see other modes get the option also. The Close Quarters playlist is currently available for Solo only, although Treyarch can open it up to larger parties at some point in the near future. Just as with the previous featured playlist, called ‘Fast Collapse,’ this new mode seems to be part of Treyarch’s plan to experiment and try out new types of game modes in this beta phase, to see which ones are worth putting into the game when it fully releases on October 12. This mode also give Treyarch the chance to gather more data about closer range weapons, since they are largely underused in favor of longer range and higher caliber weapons in the standard modes of Blackout. Looking at each player’s engagements per 10 minutes throughout their CDL matches, there was clearly a contrast. Preston ‘Priestahh’ Greiner and Lamar ‘Accuracy’ Abedi are faster players, and this caused issues with the slower pace of MajorManiak and Dillon ‘Attach’ Price. The importance of a cohesive playstyle between the entry SMG (now Standy) and a team’s flex (Priestahh) is highlighted, and with these two working much more in tandem, they’ve been able to beat out top CDL sides. The outcome is exactly what Enigma describes: the team now looks like they’re playing together as a proper unit. This is especially important in respawn modes, and Minnesota’s Hardpoint record pre-Standy (2-9) was one that needed vast improvement. Now, it looks like he was who they needed all along. How else has he aided ROKKR? Objective play It’s also pointed out that Standy is contributing much more hill time than MajorManiak was, around a 20% increase. Of course, in Hardpoint especially, the importance of this can’t be understated. Those extra seconds in the hill have clearly been the difference between winning and losing. Slaying power Finally, Standy’s slaying power has been truly incredible. While Major had a 0.99 KD, Standy has had a top 10 ratio in Stage 2, clocking in at 1.08. Getting into the hill, picking up kills, Standy looks like he was the exact piece Minnesota was searching for. Now, we have to wait and see just how far this young star goes.

In essence, players will want to focus more on how far ahead of a moving target they have to shoot rather than how high. Other major aspects of the shooting mechanics in Blackout are the direction indicator and tracer sets. Just as with Multiplayer, players in Blackout will know which direction they are being shot from via an indicator on screen. Furthermore, each weapon will have its own tracer set, allowing players to analyze and learn their weapons on a deeper level.     How Scump is leading OpTic Chicago to become a top CDL team again Instagram: opticchicago At the Stage 3 Major, OpTic placed top 4 and looked much closer to the OpTic of old. Now, halfway through Stage 4, that’s looking less like a fluke and more like some serious improvements from the Chicago side. And Seth ‘Scump’ Abner is key to that. The Black Ops Cold War season has been perhaps the most up and down in OpTic’s history (ignoring the World War II season that fans do not talk about under any circumstances). They’ve arguably got the most individually talented roster in the league, barring Atlanta FaZe, and anything besides winning is considered a failure. At some points this season, though, they’ve not even been considered a top 6 team, and improvements were clearly needed. While other teams made roster changes, and some of the Greenwall even called for moves, they stuck through it — and it looks like it’s starting to pay off, due largely to an improved Scump. Following the second week of Stage 4, Scump was named in our CDL Team of the Week, earning his spot after a great performance against Paris Legion. Looking at the stats behind OpTic’s growth in the CDL, Andrew ‘Enigma’ Campion, says that Scump in particular is to thank for their upturn. “His performances are much, much improved,” says Enigma before looking at the King’s stats. Prior to the Stage 3 Major, Scump had a KD of 0.92, 1,19 and 0.90 in Hardpoint, Search & Destroy and Control respectively. That respawn struggle has completely turned around since the start of Major 3, though, with a 1.10, 1.26 and 1.12 KD respectively. Of course, as Andrew points out, the team’s improvement isn’t all down to Scump. They’re working hard to expand their map pool and have slowed their game down significantly, making more methodical plays to break their opponents down. So, if OpTic are going to find form, they need to do it soon and hit their stride by the time Champs rolls around. To do that, they need Scump to play like his former self; and it looks like that could be coming sooner rather than later.

GameInformer, who have gotten early access to Blackout, have revealed that player health in Blackout will start at 150, which is similar to the health levels in Black Ops 4 Multiplayer. Players will also have a variety of healing items that they can use to increase their health during matches. Blackout will feature basic bandages, trauma kits, and king-sized med-kits as healing consumables. The full list of healing items and consumables has not yet been revealed, so players will likely have to wait for the upcoming Private Beta to get a better look. One major confirmed difference that Blackout’s healing system will have from other BR games is that basic level bandages will get players back to full health. Fortnite, for example, only increases health to 75% of the total health bar.     How to play Trials in Modern Warfare: rules, objectives, rewards, more Call of Duty developers Infinity Ward have added new ‘Trials’ to Modern Warfare, giving players who reach Level 55 an additional way to earn experience. Modern Warfare has strayed away from the traditional Call of Duty game model in a lot of ways, one of them being the progression system. Unlike almost every other CoD title before it, Modern Warfare does not offer players an option to prestige, instead automatically upgrades their rank as they continue to level up. The first checkpoint is Level 55, after which players enter a new set of ranks called Officer ranks, which also grants them access to the new Trials that went live on October 29. You can find everything you need to know about Trials below, including how to play them, the rules and objectives, what rewards they offer, and more. For starters, Trials is a separate feature to multiplayer entirely. Rather than playing online in a competitive match, the new function tests your skills in crash course. Similar to the introductory level in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, this new system will put you through a timed event where you must shoot your way through “the course as fast as possible while clearing all enemy targets and avoiding civilian casualties.” Players with the fastest completion times will be rewarded with the most experience. Ranging from 10,000XP for a sub-40-second finish, to 5,000XP for a 90-second run. While the only current Trial in the game is titled ‘Gun Course,’ it remains to be seen if challenges will vary on a daily or weekly rotations. Similarly, this Trial outlines the use of Close Quarters Combat weaponry, meaning that we could see long-distance variants in the near future. In order to access Trials, players will need to reach level 55 and then accumulate tickets. Tickets are earned through typical multiplayer progression and will net you three attempts at setting a record pace in any given Trial. A unique method of gaining experience, Trials also seem like a great way to refine your skills with load-outs you might often neglect.

Don’t get me wrong: the players they’ve pulled together have all shown their ability throughout the course of their careers. These are players that have won championships in the past and competed at the top, as well as a young gun who, right now, is an unknown entity… But has looked more than capable of holding his own in the amateur ranks. Paris Legion’s 2021 CDL roster Ulysses ‘AquA’ Silva— AR – Nicholas ‘Classic’ DiCostanzo — SMG – Luis ‘Fire’ Rivera — Flex – Matthew ‘Skrapz’ Marshall — SMG – Dylan ‘Theory’ McGee — Coach – So Classic, Skrapz, AquA, and Fire will be donning the Paris colors heading into the 2021 CDL season — and this is definitely a roster worth talking about. Watch Now: Best Cold War Players in Call of Duty League S2 Paris Legion: Too little, too late? Paris’ slow decision-making was a huge talking point for both Call of Duty fans and players without a team. This begs the question: did the Legion miss a golden opportunity when constructing their roster? Notably — and not unmissed by literally everybody involved with the CDL — Paris were the very last team to announce their roster. For a long time, it was unclear how long we would have to wait, with other teams already fully announced and scrimming to learn the game inside out. While some were annoyed about the speed at which Paris were making their decisions, many of us saw it as the team taking a big opportunity to see which players were the best, waiting it out to find the form players and take advantage. Lo and behold, that wasn’t quite what happened. With Challengers teams and individual players shining in Black Ops Cold War, the Paris roster seems to pale in comparison. Coach Theory on forming Paris Legion The reaction to Paris’ team was as expected. It looks very much like a group of misfits lumped together and told to make it work. While other CDL teams are formed with a mixture of cohesion and raw talent in mind, with partnerships that have been proven to work, this is one that has boggled the minds of fans. Speaking exclusively with Dexerto, Paris coach Dylan ‘Theory’ McGee explained how he put together the team. “To me, I started with the best player available in my opinion which was Skrapz,” he said of the Brit. “From there, I wanted an AR who has competed with the best in Championship situations and Aqua fit that perfectly. He might be overlooked by the casuals, but his talent is unreal and I hope it gets displayed the way I think it will throughout the season.” Read More: How to watch CDL Kickoff Classic 2021 – Explaining the acquisition of Fire, Theory had similarly high praise. “Everyone has taken notice of the swing in young potential the last few years, so we took a chance on the young gun Fire. His coachability and potential while only competing for six months was extremely impressive.” Finally, Theory says that “nobody brings more to a team than Classic,” calling him a “proven winner on multiple titles and the ultimate role player and teammate.” While McGee speaks so highly of his team, and it’s hard not to buy into his enthusiasm, there’s no denying that this is a mix of players nobody could have seen coming, and one that expectations aren’t set particularly high. Call of Duty League’s crushing pressure Plenty of rumors have spread regarding Paris’ decision-making. In particular, the suggestion that they were simply looking to spend as little money as possible. These four players are already on the back foot. While fans waited with bated breath before the Paris Legion announcement, they immediately wrote off this side once it came out — and the pressure was instantly on these players to prove their legion of doubters wrong. They’re joining a franchise with a terrible record in its first season, and are already being looked at by many as bottom-of-the-pack fodder before the season is even underway. In Activision’s Call of Duty League, we’ve seen how one bad season can impact a player’s career. Huge names such as Jordan ‘JKap’ Kaplan and Ian ‘Enable’ Wyatt retired after Modern Warfare, despite being top players previously. And my fear is that one poor season with Paris Legion could be the icing on the cake for some of these players. So it’s important that this band of CDL castaways hit the ground running, to ease the pressure as much as possible. What about the alternatives? Perhaps the biggest cause for concern is that there were so many good, viable options in the run-up to Paris’ roster finalization. With all the time they had, so many of us expected them to simply scout out the cream of the crop that remained. If you look at the Challengers Cups, WestR have won every North America tournament so far. Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they’re ready to rub shoulders with the biggest names in the Call of Duty League. Similarly, there are a number of top pros sitting out that have arguably been more impactful than some of the Legion members of late. Skrapz’s brother Bradley ‘Wuskin’ Marshall had a solid Modern Warfare season — undeniably better than that of fellow main AR, AquA, who struggled to get much going with LA Guerrillas. Zack ‘Drazah’ Jordan played for OGLA in the latter months of the 2020 season and helped turn that team’s fortunes around. He’s currently occupying the bench for LA Thieves, but surely he’s the exact type of up-and-coming star that could slot into a team such as Paris? And if Paris were looking for viable slaying competitors from Challengers, Fire is a genuine talent and will have a great career ahead of him, but it’s unclear why he would be first choice. The WaR team of 2020 proved themselves as the best Challengers team in Europe. Surely the likes of David ‘Dqvee’ Davies and Marcus ‘Afro’ Reid would have been worth a call, if not that WestR side? Paris Legion… The underwhelming underdogs? This isn’t all to say that the Paris team will be bad. For all we know, they could turn out to be a sleeper team that storms the league. I for one quietly expect them to perform much better than the last Paris Legion iteration and turn a few heads in the process. Theory is similarly confident, hopeful we can “get back to LAN events where we can see players in their true form.” That said, the amalgamation of talent on this lineup simply seems random with no clear identity to it. While Paris Legion could have brought in the best Challengers team on offer, they opted for a group that can’t provide much positive fanfare and set low expectations for the coming season’s performances. Paris had the opportunity to make a nuclear signing and become the underdogs that Call of Duty fans love to cling on to. But instead, they picked up a roster that is similarly as uninspiring as the brand itself.

With Scump, Karma, Matthew ‘FormaL’ Piper, and Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter operating together like a well oiled machine, the Green Wall was able to exert its dominance throughout the Black Ops 3 and Infinity Warfare seasons. Their legacy as a group was truly solidified as arguably the best ever when OpTic placed first at the 2017 CWL Championships, with Scump finally earning his first ring after years of it slipping through his fingers. The toughest spell of Scump’s career came during the WWII season, as it was his first ever competitive campaign in which he failed to win a single championship. Scump has been the first to admit that he played poorly during the season, and their lack of success led to many rumblings of the King possibly retiring. Although he’s admitted to giving the option of retirement some thought, Scump ultimately decided not to lay down the sticks, and it’s proved to be the right decision thus far as his new-look squad has been the team to beat so far during the Black Ops 4 season. Enigma mentioned that, throughout the year, we have seen OpTic suffer from mental blocks. He said, “they struggle to believe they can beat a side if they haven’t in a while.” The Ultra have had the better of OpTic in the last four matchups, so the concern is reasonable. In those series, Ultra have taken six of seven Search and Destroy maps, propelling them to a victory. OpTic did fall short at Major 5 but their only losses came to Ultra. Enigma believes that if the team can use the momentum from Major 5, play with confidence, and come together as a unit, they can hoist that CDL Champs trophy.

OpTic have had countless struggles throughout this season. They’ve stuck by the same roster through thick and thin, but more often than not it has ended in disappointment and with results far below what both players and fans expect. A top 4 placement at Major 4 definitely turned some heads, but considering they got ousted as soon as they came up against a top team, there has been a little confusion over just how good they actually are. While they may not yet be ready to beat the Atlanta FaZe’s of the world, there have been marked improvements in their gameplay, and this boils down to some key tactical tweaks made by the team ahead of Stage 5. As explained and analyzed by Andrew ‘Enigma’ Campion on Reverse Sweep Round 11, some key changes across each mode saw them win maps much cleaner than before, including against New York Subliners. The first change, with the best example being on Moscow Hardpoint, is how they set up for rotations, prioritizing team pushes rather than relying on Envoy to try and win multiple gunfights to win a rotation. They’ve also shifted FormaL to their hill-time player, allowing the team to work together better and defend hills with much more dominance. Finally, their SnD first blood percentage rocketed, from 52.7% to 68.2%. Dashy has been the key to this, opening things up on the map and working the sites with far more ease. Obviously, the sample size is small, but OpTic did look like a much better team in their opening games of Stage 5. If they can keep this up against the rest of the field, they might be ready to truly challenge by the time Champs rolls around.

    How Nadeshot’s 100 Thieves became the coolest organization in esports Esports is full of big brands, a lot of which have been around since the industry’s humble beginnings. That alone is impressive, the ability to withstand the early days of a movement that’s still hard to monetize two decades later. Something that’s arguably more impressive, however, is a new competitor entering the fray and catching up with the legacy brands in just a couple of years. That’s the story of 100 Thieves, the brainchild of Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag – arguably esports’ first superstar. During his iconic tenure on the now-withered OpTic Gaming, he managed to sign to Red Bull as an athlete, build an audience of millions, and win championships in a highly-competitive franchise all at once. When Nadeshot decided to part ways with OpTic Gaming in the early part of 2016, it was hard to believe. His brand had become synonymous with the organization which was the first to masterfully blend esports and entertainment at that point, and it was simply strange to see him depart a group of people he considered family. What came next was arguably more surprising: he started his very own team. Announced on April 18th, 2016, Nadeshot unveiled 100 Thieves – his own effort at forming a team. This time, though, he’d be behind-the-scenes, pulling the strings, and attempting to form a team that was truly his own. Starting in Call of Duty, Nadeshot decided to sign the unsigned Call of Duty squad KingPapey to represent his newly-formed brand. Consisting of Royalty, Nelson, Examples, and Johnny, the team qualified for the second stage of the CoD World League through the relegation event just prior to Nadeshot reaching out to them. 100 Thieves embarked upon its first event – MLG Anaheim – with ACHES and Remy in place of Nelson and Examples, but they couldn’t achieve a single victory in the group stage. Moving onto the losers’ bracket, they were eliminated by Cloud9 and crashed out of the event in 17-20th place. The team finished Season 2 with a record of 4-18. It wasn’t long before Nadeshot disbanded the roster and fled the Call of Duty once more on July 7th, 2016. This wasn’t the start that Nadeshot had envisaged for his first venture outside of OpTic Gaming, especially since he was so used to success. A decision had to be made: could he continue to risk his own money with a potential of no return, would he step away from the entity altogether, or could he recruit some help? The investment On November 21st, 2017, 100 Thieves received a multi-million dollar investment from Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This would allow it to evolve from a Call of Duty to a fully-fledged organization with teams of employees working within a sound infrastructure. It’d be fair to call this the real start of 100 Thieves. At the same time, the organization announced that it had been selected to join Riot Games’ LCS as one of 10 long-term partners. In no time at all, the brand had gone from a failure to a member of one of esports’ more popular leagues with millions of dollars of backing. What was better was that it managed to recruit the likes of Ssumday, Ryu, aphromoo, Cody Sun, and Meteos to its LoL roster – a collection of players with their own respective fan bases and reputations. Winning the regular season of its very first split was a massive achievement for 100 Thieves and an eventuality that nobody could have predicted. It firmly planted the idea of the organization being a force to be reckoned with in the heads of those who comprised the esports industry. Just a month after it received investment, it also entered a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, another of the three most popular esport titles to date. Recruiting the former Immortals roster on December 12th, 100 Thieves had impressive teams in both American League of Legends and international CS:GO. What transpired with the CS:GO roster wasn’t pretty, and can inarguably be described as a failed venture, but it was a test of character for the newly-revived entity. Could it bounce back from yet another wasted opportunity – and effectively a disposal of investors’ cash – to achieve greatness? Nadeshot answered that question with no room for questioning in the coming months and years. 100 Thieves re-entered Call of Duty on August 28th, 2018 when it signed Kenny and FeRo, quickly followed by Octane. With the roster completed a month later through the addition of Enable and SlasheR, the Call of Duty community – arguably one of the more passionate fan bases in esports – was entirely on the team’s side. All it had to do from here was to perform to its potential. 100 Thieves also started its apparel arm, one of three important business branches that it was banking on to help find success. Limited edition, streetwear-inspired branded clothing was being produced and released periodically – only after a healthy dosage of teasing and promotion, of course. Content soon followed, with the Heist docuseries being launched in January 2018. Giving an insight into 100 Thieves’ League of Legends program, how Nadeshot – a giant personality in his own right – interacted with his players, and how the team’s campaign was going. A house tour, ‘vault’ videos that showed more behind-the-scenes footage, and videos with Gilbert’s Cavaliers all followed. Nadeshot’s master plan was coming together before prospective fans’ very eyes. The Drake effect Things seemingly couldn’t be going any better for Nadeshot’s thriving organization, but things just kept rolling. World-famous rapper, singer, and businessman Drake invested in 100 Thieves through its Series A funding round in October 2018. Co-leading the funding was Scooter Braun, the entrepreneur who represents the likes of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. Drake is one of the most popular figures in pop culture and him becoming involved in an esports organization, especially in such a vital way, will only be a positive for the company on the receiving end of such fortune. Said company being 100 Thieves, though, only cemented its status as a game-changer in esports, entertainment, and gaming. Mainstream press quickly came after Nadeshot’s social media-shattering selfie with Drake, and that again gave a significant boost in awareness for 100 Thieves in the mainstream. Perhaps more importantly, in the world of esports, the organization became the one to look out for. In an industry that’s comprised of dozens and dozens of competing teams, it had truly made itself stand out from the pack. That alone is commendable. 100 Thieves committed to putting its newly-sourced $25 million capital towards building a “lasting brand on the back of the content and apparel that our fans have come to love, scale our apparel business, and build a world-class management team.” From there, it made a series of new hires to support its lofty – but oddly believable – ambitions. Bringing in content creator Valkyrae to live in the 100 Thieves Content House LA was another impressive move, and it happened in the exact same month as the funding round. Valkyrae has been a force in video game content creation even since Fortnite reached its own meteoric heights, and managing to secure her as effectively as a face of your organization displays a certain level of ‘clout’ or ‘influence’ – for lack of a better word. In the following months, the organization would go on to recruit both superstar and underrated players to its Fortnite roster. The likes of Ceice and Elevate joined its ranks on the lead up to the Fortnite World Cup. It also entered another emerging Battle Royale title, Apex Legends. These moves proved that 100 Thieves is committed to entering promising, newly-released titles in hopes of becoming competitive and taking home trophies. While Apex Legends didn’t go as planned for many – developer Respawn is still trying to figure out how to sustain such popularity – Fortnite proved fruitful for the team. Placing third in duos, Ceice and Elevate took home $1.8 million and represented 100 Thieves masterfully on one of esports’ biggest stages to date. Later on, it would also manage to sign CouRage – another gaming superstar. Once a Call of Duty caster who was good friends with Nadeshot, he left his job at MLG to pursue content creation and found himself at the forefront of live streaming with the attention-stealing title, Fortnite. Playing with the likes of Ninja, it’s believed that he had received countless offers to represent an organization. Him picking 100 Thieves was another big, fat win for Nadeshot and co. Round 2 100 Thieves followed up its Series A round with $35 million in its Series B, just nine months later in July 2019. The news quickly followed the hiring of Doug Barber to head up its apparel arm, and this hire made sense once the intentions behind the funding were clear. 100 Thieves planned to develop a 15,000 square foot headquarters in Los Angeles to house its operations, competitors, and content creators. It’s done a plethora of other innovative things since, perhaps nothing as outlandish and impressive as having popular rapper Lil Dicky perform at a party ahead of TwitchCon 2019. Sure, musical acts have been utilized at esports events for years – but for a party, hosted by an organization nonetheless? It’s unexpected and it seemed like an utter blast. Being friendly with a major music star only adds to the perception of coolness, of course. Looking forward There’s plenty on the horizon for 100 Thieves, with its stellar reputation among both fans and industry figures alike being propped up by every decision Nadeshot and his team make. Whether it’s the innovative (and rather costly) facility that’s being built in L.A. or the brand’s inevitable return to the CS:GO scene, everybody is awaiting 100 Thieves’ next move. There’s more apparel to be made, with Nadeshot even going as far to tweet “Everything moving forward in 2020 is about [to] take our apparel to another level” when referring to 100 Thieves’ last apparel drop of 2019. Call of Duty will officially become the third esports title to pursue a franchise model, following in the footsteps of fellow Activision title Overwatch, and Riot Games’ League of Legends. With the Overwatch League signing a $90 million, two-year deal with Twitch to broadcast exclusively on the platform, it seems set that the media rights to the CDL will also be auctioned off, but how much will it cost to acquire the rights for the franchised competition? With no official deal in place, Konvoy Ventures used the public details of the Overwatch League to predict how much the media rights for the LCS and CDL would cost to prospective buyers eager to lock down the competitions on their platform. Based on the $45 million-per-season deal, Konvoy were able to estimate that with an average of 23,861,239 hours watched per month, the price-per-hour watched equates to $1.39, while the 32,753 average viewers means that each spectator is worth $1,374 in the current deal. Using those values, Konvoy estimate that the 8.3 million hours watched on average per month would be worth $15,754,703, while the average viewers of 23,794 at the same $1,374-per-viewer would be worth an estimated $32,690,737. Using those metrics to find an average, Konvoy’s Josh Chapman writes: “In conclusion, we believe that the upcoming contract for media rights of the CDL should be priced at $24 million per season. “We believe that the most accurate pricing would be based on hours watched and viewers, which would have the total deal (two seasons) priced at $48 million. Our estimates would indicate that each team would receive a max of $2 million a season.” Chapman concludes: “This assumes that Activision Blizzard takes $0 from media rights, which is unlikely to be the revenue split between them and the franchise owners. In reality, the franchise teams will likely receive quite a bit less.” Those figures pale in comparison when compared to League of Legends though, with Konvoy’s projected media rights for hours watched sitting at a staggering $159,782,733 based on an 84 million hours-per-month average, while the viewership which sits 116,178 would be worth the same amount. That would bring the estimated rights deal for a two year deal like the OWL’s to $319 million, over three times more than the confirmed Overwatch League deal with Twitch, and six times greater than the estimated Call of Duty League. Konvoy Ventures state that for CoD franchises who spend the reported $25 million on their city-based franchise, it would take over 12 seasons, or six years, to make back the franchise fee assuming they received the full $2 million in yearly media rights, and that they were breaking even before they were paid their share. In MW2, the Spas-12 shotgun was so good that players would often use it as their primary weapon, despite it being a secondary (and we can’t forget the Akimbo Model 1887’s, pre-nerf), so CoD decided to move shotguns to the primary slot. But, with Black Ops 4 they are secondaries once again, which means that Treyarch have had to make them somewhat less powerful, so as to make them really just a last resort, similar to a pistol. As there are only two shotguns, the MOG-12 and the SG-12, Drift0r condensed them into one single ‘In-Depth’ episode, his popular series where he takes a deep dive into weapons, attachments, perks and more in Call of Duty. His findings for shotguns are fairly simple, as they operate the same as they did in Black Ops 3, with a base damage, then additional damage points for every pellet which connects. This allows the MOG-12 to be a one hit kill at very close ranges, but this range is massively extended with the ‘Choke’ attachment, as it doubles the pellet damage, giving a much longer one hit kill range. As for the other shotgun, the SG-12, it’s semi-automatic fast fire rate is balanced out by a much lower base damage and pellet damage than its counterpart, but with the right attachments, becomes much more viable. With the extended (drum) magazine, plus the powerful tac light – which essentially blinds nearby opponents – Drift0r explains that the SG-12 suddenly becomes much more useful. Without these attachments though, you will find the SG-12 to be too weak to stand out, never managing a one hit kill no matter what range you are at or attachments you are using. Regardless of where you actually build the weapon in the Gunsmith system, it’ll be available to use across any distinct pillar of the CoD experience. In essence, say you build a multiplayer loadout that absolutely shreds in multiplayer, you might then want to try it out over in Warzone. In previous years, you’ve had to recreate that build from scratch in order to bring it over to a different game. Now, it’s set to integrate seamlessly. It is worth noting, however, this system has only been designed with Black Ops 6 weapons in mind. Although weapons from Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3 are still set to be available in Warzone, you’ll still have to copy those over the old-fashioned way. That means that whether it’s account progression or simply the ability to play with one another, players will be integrated through thei accounts across PC and both the current and next generations of Xbox and PlayStation. Theoretically, this means that an entire multiplayer team could include players from PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5, which would be unprecedented. Both teams had an eye on Winners Round 2 for the Stage 1 Major, and Dallas ended up turning his dreams of revenge into a nightmare. Initially, things went phenomenally well for the team. Clayster wreaked havoc against Empire, closing the opening Hardpoint in flashy form, and coming out of Search & Destroy guns-blazing on Checkmate with 13 kills. For any team to be able to take on Atlanta FaZe, their sub duo needs to be able to go toe-to-toe with Simp and aBeZy — and Enigma thinks these two have it in them. Clutch factor One of the main things Dallas are doing now that they weren’t doing before is clutching up to beat their opponents. They’re winning matches by close margins, playing fundamentally sound Call of Duty to grind out wins, and this is especially apparent in Hardpoint. This is a stark contrast to a team like Atlanta FaZe who, while they do play the fundamentals correctly, they’re better known for completely blowing out teams with displays of raw skill and slaying prowess. Improved map pool in all modes The best teams are often the ones who can perform on any map, as is clear with Atlanta FaZe. Dallas have taken huge leaps in expanding their map pool since the end of Stage 4, and it shows. They’ve become more comfortable across all maps and modes, especially in Search & Destroy and Control, and this will be crucial going forward, especially if they reach the best of 9 grand final matches. Enigma argues that Dallas are one of the only teams whose map pool is as expansive as Atlanta’s — and this could just see them over the edge. Enigma goes on to discuss how Dallas have worked on their game in regards to playing the best teams, changing their strategies so as not to match the best but to counter them instead. Whether this results in a championship is impossible to tell thus far, but they’re in a far better spot now than they have done throughout the rest of the season — and they’re peaking at the perfect time.

Infinity WardA popular YouTuber has claimed that a Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty are pondering just how it would potentially work in the new game. The long-awaited next installment to the Modern Warfare series was finally confirmed on May 30 as a single player teaser trailer was released. However, there has yet to be any major information about multiplayer or a possible battle royale add-on for the next release within the CoD franchise. According to YouTuber TheGamingRevolution, who claims to have a source and previously pointed to the spec ops co-op mode being used in competitive play, a Modern Warfare battle royale mode is “being worked on.” While this obviously isn’t confirmed, the YouTuber does raise a number of points that would make the mode the most ambitious attempt at a battle royale yet. TheGamingRevolution claims that the mode was never originally planned to be added to the game and has become a last minute addition. Despite that, Infinity Ward has been targetting a lobby size of 200 players – with the developers apparently being able to host 152 players at some points already. Of course, that would mean that the game’s map would have to be huge. TheGamingRevolution claims that the map is around 3 times the size of the current Blackout map and has plenty of variation. The YouTuber also adds that it is seemingly nowhere near as complete as the campaign or multiplayer modes as they have been the focus of Infinity Ward. Yet, they have been borrowing ideas from other games – with the weapon and loot working similarly to Fortnite’s tier system rather. Now, none of this is confirmed information and comes purely from TheGamingRevolution’s apparent source, but Infinity Ward has yet to confirm or deny that a battle royale is in play for Modern Warfare. When asked by CharlieINTEL if there were plans for a battle royale mode, Activision refused to give an answer – leading to further speculation. Certainly, the modern military setting would make for a unique battle royale experience. As ever, and as the YouTuber states himself, these things can change for one reason or another and what he seems to know could be scrapped completely before release.

Despite succumbing to an early exit, the Mutineers showed encouraging signs after a turbulent start to the season. Roster turnover often happens in the Call of Duty League, and finding all the right pieces is a constant struggle. To be successful in Modern Warfare 2, the best CDL teams have a dynamic SMG duo, dominant lead AR, and a role player capable of filling any role when needed. For example, Atlanta FaZe’s “tiny terror” duo of Simp and aBeZy on SMGs paired with Cellium and Slasher eviscerating enemies using ARs combines for a lethal lineup. Another example is OpTic Texas which relies on the SMG prowess of Huke and Shottzy and AR playmaking ability of Dashy. Players of that caliber don’t grow on trees, so organizations have had to get creative in uncovering the next big thing. Florida Mutineers and other CDL teams started to pluck talent from CoD’s amateur division, Challengers. Florida Mutineers’ history of looking to Challengers talent Florida entered MW2 with a lineup of Michael’ MajorManiak’ Szymaniak, Javier Javier ‘Vikul’ Milagro, Carson ‘Brack’ Newberry, and Colt ‘Havok’ McLendon. Vikul and Brack joined from Challengers, with the organization deciding to take a shot on two rookie talents. 2023 started slow, with the team dropping out early in Major 1 and 2, but it didn’t discourage Florida from utilizing the amateur talent pipeline. Florida reshuffled the deck and dove back into Challengers, recruiting Kenyen’ Capsidal’ Sutton and Tyler ‘FeLo’ Johnson during Major 3 qualifiers. Both players are at very different stages of their careers, but they came from the same environment. Capsidal learns valuable lesson in rookie year and Challengers Capsidal joined Boston Breach for the organization’s inaugural season in 2022 and showed flashes of immense talent. The team performed well but was not strong enough to keep the roster together. Cap dropped down into Challengers and clawed his way back up to a CDL spot. “In my rookie year, I was just sitting there, going through the motions and learning what to do. Now coming in, I know what’s going on and how everything works, and I feel like I am better prepared this year.” He added, “In Challengers, you have to grind. Every day is a grind. There are tourneys every other week like it just makes you better at the game.” FeLo hungry for CDL success after Challengers grind FeLo has been a part of the competitive CoD scene since 2014. Since the CDL formed in 2020, the reliable veteran has gotten two shots on a pro roster. In 2021, he spent eight months with the Dallas Empire, and in 2022 he had a short stint with Paris. He hopes his third stint in the league will go a bit differently than those outings. “I have done nothing but learn and take accountability for what’s gone wrong. What I am thankful about with this team is that this is the first time in the CDL that everyone on my team is genuinely listening to me as a leader and is willing to trust in what I do.” Challengers puts everyone through the wringer. Cap and FeLo acknowledged the developmental league’s pros and cons in making them better overall players. “There is not a day off. You have an elite on Tuesday, an Elite on Wednesday, and a Challengers cup on Saturday and Sunday,” FeLo explained. “It’s like a nonstop cycle, and it becomes a lot, but the tourney reps and the Search & Destroy reps you get make you ready.” Capsidal pointed to the LAG Academy team beating FaZe twice during Major 1 and attributed LAG’s success to tournament reps. “Tourney reps in Challengers is the biggest thing. Even at the Pro-Am, you saw LAG Academy. They had the most tourney reps in the game out of any team worldwide, and they beat FaZe in both Hardpoints.” FeLo agreed and claimed, “Going into CDL this year, I just feel so far ahead compared to these people. Like even New York, they just won a major, and in respawns, we kept up with them, and we are a brand new team.” All of the puzzle pieces didn’t fall into place for Florida at Major 3. However, with the past few games, Zombies has seen a huge decline – but it can still be fixed and bring back the nostalgia at the same time. Zombies started off back in Call of Duty: World at War as an Easter egg mode for beating the game. The first map, Nacht Der Untoten, had only three buyable areas and a handful of weapons, whereas the latest map has over 30 guns, five perks, and multiple areas. Zombies went from an additional, simple mode to one that took over the franchise. However, with Black Ops Cold War and now Vanguard, fans are slowly questioning the decision-making from the devs – but don’t worry, we know how to fix it. Bring back Round-based maps, 4 Perk System, and Gobblegums The community was super hyped to find out Treyarch was in charge of Vanguard Zombies, as the company has had a lot of success with the mode in the past. However, upon release, players found out there weren’t any round-based maps. Let’s fix that: Round-based maps have worked in Zombies for well over a decade, so why would Treyarch try to change it? I think every fan of the community would say the first thing to make the game infinitely better would be adding classic-style maps. On top of that, the game is just too easy now with loadouts, infinite perks, and revives. How about we bring back the four perk limit, which made it a bit tough to pick what we wanted versus what we needed. Also, Gobblegums were a huge success in BO3. While we’ve seen systems similar to it, none have worked quite like the gumball machine did. Make challenging Easter eggs It took nine days for the community to figure out how to complete the Revelations Easter egg. Nine days! It probably took a combined 12 hours to figure out all of them in Cold War, and we still don’t have any questlines in Vanguard as it is delayed with Season 1. Treyarch, please make Easter eggs difficult and hard to figure out. Nothing beats the 24-hour streams or the entire community rallying to help each other solve the steps. The thing with Zombies is that, when one person finally solves the Easter egg, the whole community wins, because that how tight everyone is. We need them to be a challenge again. Release Zombies Chronicles 2 With the end of Black Ops 3, Zombies fans were left speechless, confused, and wanting more. Over nine months passed after the final DLC, but then we got the greatest thing that happened to the game: Zombies Chronicles. There have been rumors floating around about the second chronicles releasing, and if it’s true, then what are we waiting for? The game feels like it’s at an all time low and there’s less than 1% of the player base that actually enjoys Vanguard. Make a stand-alone game, throw every map from WaW through Black Ops 4, and charge however much you want. Whether it’s $20 or $200, people will buy it because they are passionate about this game and its community. There’s a saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” So, it’s your move Treyarch. You had a system that worked really well. Don’t abandon ship now. Do it for the fans, bring back the style we all fell in love with, and in the words of Tank Dempsey, do it “Once more, for old times sake.”

    How the bullet drop works in Call of Duty Blackout If you want to become a great Blackout player, you’ll have to master the weapon handling mechanics of bullet travel speed and drop-off. Players coming to Blackout from other Battle Royale titles will undoubtedly be familiar with the concept of bullet drop, but to Call of Duty players the mechanic is new, and applies only to the Blackout mode. In other game-modes, and previous titles in the series, Call of Duty guns have always fired in a perfectly straight line to their target, and impacted instantly, with no travel time – this type of firing mechanic is often referred to as “hitscan”, after the calculation of the same name that the game performs to determine what, if anything, each bullet hit. In Blackout, however, bullets instead act as projectiles, with both have a travel speed and after a certain distance will start to drop – i.e. curve towards the ground – as they travel. At close-to-medium ranges, both of these effects are negligible, so the weapons will handle much as they do in the other multiplayer modes. If you’re trying to hit an enemy at a long distance, however, factors like travel speed and bullet drop have to be taken into account, leading shots ahead of moving enemies and aiming higher to compensate for drop-off. Complicating matters, however, is the fact that these effects do not apply uniformly – they vary depending on factors that can influence both bullet drop and travel speed. Ammunition Type The type of ammunition a weapon uses influences the bullet’s travel speed and drop-off, even for weapons that are in the same class. Weapons that use the 5.56mm ammo have both a slower travel speed and greater drop than those using 7.62mm, for instance. The same holds true across all variants of ammo, with the general rule being that the higher-calibre ammo travels faster and drops less than lower-calibre options. Attachments Certain attachments also impact bullet speed and drop. If you’re looking to improve your weapon’s handling in this respect, Long Barrel is your friend – as well as increasing damage at range, it’ll also make it easier to hit targets at range by increasing speed and decreasing drop. On the flip side, adding a silencer has the reverse effect. In exchange for the increased stealth, you’ll have to account for the drop-off beginning earlier, and the bullet will travel slower. This means you’ll have to begin compensating for the effect at closer distances, as well as compensating more than you otherwise would at longer ranges. Since the first core release in 2003, Call of Duty games have featured globetrotting storylines across all eras of warfare. From realistic portrayals of historic battles, to sci-fi infused fiction in futuristic titles, the games have seen and done it all. Dipping back into the Cold War period with the next release, Treyarch and Raven Software have a few tricks up their sleeves to make this experience stand out from the rest. Lined up as a “direct sequel” to the original Black Ops title, players will be back in action with the iconic cast of characters such as Mason and Woods. While the familiar faces will help you feel right at home, don’t expect the campaign to feel all that similar. The developers have built the campaign experience around new features that will drastically shake up the narrative. While we already knew about custom characters and multiple endings, there’s plenty more going on under the hood. Instead of simply going through the motions in Black Ops Cold War, you’ll need to think outside the box. Players will be required to find evidence and “solve puzzles that’ll unlock a different part of [a] side mission,” Raven Software Senior Creative Director Dan Vondrak told the PlayStation Official Magazine. While much of the narrative will be streamlined and accessible, some sections can clearly be missed. Failing to find evidence, or not putting the pieces together could have you missing out on content. This additional content is crucial in determining the game’s outcome, as player input will affect the ending you see. This manual input doesn’t just pertain to side missions, however. In the midst of heated arguments, players will be given dialogue options akin to those in Role Playing Games. Individual missions will have branching storylines with multiple possible endings. Choices are at the core of every beat in the Black Ops Cold War campaign, Vondrak stressed. “This culmination of ideas and experiences are crystallized and harnessed into Black Ops Cold War,” Raven’s Creative Specialist Miles Leslie added. It’s a blend of “some RPG and some action.” When these “ingredients” are put together, it results in a “super-tasty” campaign that can be played through multiple times. But, if you don’t want to commit to the massive CoD HQ, you can access the beta through MW2, which would be around 81 GB of disk space, that is if you already have it installed. Activision is yet to release the full system requirements for Modern Warfare 3, however, it is likely you’ll need at least 100 GB or more of free disk space to comfortably fit MW3 on PC. So here’s everything you need to know about Black Ops 6’s file size. Is Black Ops 6’s file size 300 GB? Black Ops 6’s file size will not be 300+ GB, according to Activision. When Black Ops 6 released for preordering, the Xbox preorder page for the game stated the approximate file size for the game would be 309.85 GB. However, Activision has clarified that the 300+ GB file size would include full installations of Black Ops 6, MW2, MW3, Warzone, Zombies, with all content packs and localized languages combined. In reality, Black Ops 6 will be 149 GB, that is with Warzone and COD HQ installed. Just Black Ops 6 alone will be 78 GB. Just like when installing MW3, you will be able to pick and choose which parts of CoD you’ll want to keep around in the CoD HQ launcher through the ‘manage files’ section. The PC Beta will first be available to those who have pre-ordered Black Ops 4, and then will be open to everyone thereafter. The Beta for Blackout on PC will officially launch on September 14 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, but will only be accessible by those who have pre-purchased any digital version of the game. After the 24 hour period of private access, the Beta will become available to everyone on September 15 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, and players will need a valid Battle.net account to access it. Treyarch had announced on August 14 that the Blackout Beta would first be available on the Playstation 4, just as with the Multiplayer Beta. PS4 players can try out the game mode starting September 10, but will need to have pre-ordered the game since the Beta will be Private Access only. The starting date and time for the Beta on the Xbox One has also now been announced, and, just like the PC beta, it will also be starting on the 14th. However, there is one name who frequently flies under the radar: Adam ‘GodRx’ Brown The Minnesota ROKKR star is known for his aggression with different assault rifles. With these, he has managed to break into the upper echelon of players that have been excelling in the Modern Warfare season, often outshining his more experienced teammates. In his first 3 years Brown never managed anything remarkable and it looked like he would stay in the tier of journeyman pros in the shadows of legends.     How ACHES became OpTic Gaming CoD’s biggest nemesis Patrick ‘ACHES’ Price’s rivalry with OpTic Gaming is legendary. Here’s how one player became the kryptonite of the most popular and successful organization in the history of Call of Duty. Now the captain of Los Angeles Guerillas, ACHES’ accomplishments under major orgs such as FaZe Clan, Evil Geniuses, and Complexity made sure he was always working against the GreenWall. Unfortunately for them, he was very good at his job. In our latest Call of Duty documentary, we discuss how the ACHES vs OpTic blossomed from humble beginnings, grew into a bitter feud, and eventually became a storyline that underlined entire careers. It all began with a simple push. The Push ‘The push’ seems to have been the catalyst for the rivalry that unfolded between ACHES and OpTic, dating all the way back to UMG Chicago 2012. In the grand final of the tournament, OpTic and ACHES’ Complexity team went up against each other, with Nadeshot’s OpTic side finally taking the win – and letting their CoL opponents know about it. In response, ACHES pushed Nadeshot rather than shake his hand, and a rivalry was born. Under that Complexity team, ACHES went on to be one of the best players in Black Ops 2 and play in a dynasty team whose moniker as the best team ever could not be argued until several years later. It was a trying time for OpTic fans, who regularly saw their team fall short, and to see their arch-nemesis winning so handily at most events made it all the more painful to watch. Complexity’s dominance continued into the Ghosts season, where they looked almost unbeatable early in the year. OpTic looked like they had a shot at beating them in the upper bracket of CoD Champs 2014, but ACHES’ team prevailed and eventually went on to win the title. OpTic finally got their revenge at X-Games 2014, where they defeated ACHES and company on route to winning a coveted X-Games gold medal. This was the highlight of OpTic’s Ghosts season and coL bounced back to beat them again in the next event, MLG Anaheim 2014, despite rumblings of inter-team turmoil. Eventually, as the Ghosts season waned, coL’s dynastic roster split apart but ACHES’ rivalry with OpTic Gaming was about to get a whole lot more interesting. Advanced Warfare: Turning of the tide It wasn’t until the Advanced Warfare season where the Call of Duty community saw a sharp turn in each party’s luck and results. In the off-season between the two titles, OpTic had bought out the Evil Geniuses team’s contracts and used the players to build a stronger main team, as well as a second-team under the name ‘OpTic Nation.’ The only player to not play under the OpTic banner after this was, of course, ACHES. He left to join a team that had become the Call of Duty kings on YouTube, taking OpTic’s original USP and amplifying it ten-fold, FaZe Clan. And despite having a team that looked vastly inferior on paper, ACHES defied all odds and logistics to beat OpTic in the grand final of MLG Columbus 2014, the first event of the season. With five stitches at the base of his thumb, and claiming to have had no sleep the night before thanks to injuries he had sustained the night before, it looked unlikely that ACHES wouldn’t even be playing in the grand-final matchup. But, not willing to let his limitations get the better of him, he didn’t just play the match, he won it against all the odds. Then, fast-forward to the 2015 World Championships and OpTic Gaming are on an event-winning streak that had set them far apart from the competition. They were a shoo-in to be world champions, the result an inevitability rather than just an expectation. That was until they found themselves unceremoniously knocked into the loser’s bracket, facing none other than ACHES in a spot that saw the loser’s head out in seventh place. Of course, you already know what happened: ACHES’ FaZe Red team won 3-0, making short work of the most successful team in Advanced Warfare. Not only that, but shortly after, Nadeshot announced his retirement. In 2016, OpTic fans must have thought they were having deja-vu – dominant for most of the year, but a World Championship clash saw them facing ACHES once more in the loser’s bracket, facing a 7-8th placement if they lost. It seemed impossible for Cloud9 to knock them out, but that ACHES magic that had become ingrained in the OpTic psyche reared its head once again. C9 thwarted OpTic’s chance at a world title with a nail-biting 1v1 in game 5, round 11 that shook the CoD community to its core. At the following World Championship event in 2017, OpTic went without facing ACHES for the first time in the history of the event – and won the whole thing. Meanwhile, ACHES had his worst Champs placement yet, falling at top 16. Then, a year later, the World War II World Championship tournament rolled around. World War II: The collapse of the wall Placed in the same group, and with one match left to play, ACHES – now back on EG – needed a 3-0 win to get out of pool play, while OpTic needed just one map win to move on to the bracket in their worst season yet. Evil Geniuses became somewhat of an unstoppable force against OpTic, and despite the GreenWall being one of the biggest and greatest teams in CoD history, they took a 3-0 loss and placed top 24. This was, and remains to this day, OpTic’s worst-ever placement, and of course, it was orchestrated by ACHES, who went on to win the whole tournament. The direction this rivalry takes with the dawn of a new era is yet to be seen. The franchised Call of Duty League brings a manner of changes to the CoD esports sphere, not least the fact that OpTic now is not the same as OpTic then. So does ACHES’ ability to bring out the worst in OpTic continue with the new OpTic Gaming LA team – his local rivals? Or does it transfer to the Chicago Huntsmen, where much of OpTic’s former lifeblood now lives, with Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, Matthew ‘FormaL’ Piper, and Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez all occupying spots in the Chicago team?

    Call of Duty fans react in anger as popular mode removed from Blackout The fan favorite Hot Pursuit Blackout playlist has been removed again. Hot Pursuit has been temporarily sacrificed because of the second Call of Duty Blackout map, Alcatraz, and the re-introduction of Hardcore Quads. Alcatraz map Call of Duty surprised fans with the shock announcement that the teased Alcatraz location would in fact be an entirely new map. It had been expected to be a new location, or “point of interest”, similar to Hijacked or Ghost Town. Players are still getting used to the drastic change in gameplay that Alcatraz offers. It’s an especially steep learning curve for those who are utilizing the Blackout free access promotion, as many of these players will be experiencing Call of Duty’s battle royale for the first time. For some though, the introduction of Alcatraz has proven disappointing. This isn’t because Alcatraz is bad, far from it, but because it has come at the expense of arguably Blackout’s finest creation to date. Hot Pursuit removed The Hot Pursuit mode was added as part of the Operation Grand Heist update. It combined the concept of “Down But Not Out” and new vehicles. The respawn mechanic along with the fast pace of police vehicles and getaway sports cars resonated with Blackout players. However, this mode has now been removed, presumably to encourage players to try Alcatraz. This is surprising for two reasons, firstly, the hype for Alcatraz meant there would have been no shortage of players. Secondly, it makes little sense to remove the mode that had received the most positive feedback. Update: Hot Pursuit was re-added to the Blackout playlists but from April 19 it has been removed once again. Instead, Call of Duty battle royale players have been given Hardcore Quads. Black Ops 4 rotates new game modes in and out frequently, but there are certainly some that fans like more than others. The Hot Pursuit playlist was one of the modes introduced with the Operation Grand Heist patch and it put a huge twist on the Blackout playlist as players knew it. It quickly became a hit among players and helped revitalize excitement with the game. When is Hot Pursuit coming back? When the playlist was removed on April 3, there was a lot of anger from the community as there wasn’t a good alternative to it, but now those fans can now look forward to the return of the mode. This comment came in a response to thread asking Treyarch to bring the mode back so it looks like those prayers were answered. There’s a reason Hot Pursuit is one of the more popular modes in Black Ops 4 and that’s simply because it’s a lot of fun. Hot Pursuit puts a spin on Blackout by making it somewhat a variation of cops and robbers. Police vehicles come built with a sensor dart while muscle cars will be able to detect stashes and supply drops, which are both more frequent with this mode. The storm circle closes a lot faster in this mode which makes the action more fast-paced and frantic, but also gives players an option to respawn. If you have a teammate still alive at the end of a collapse round, you will revive. The Holocaust was the genocide of European Jews during World War II at the hands of Nazi Germany. The estimated death total is around six million making it the worst genocide in human history. Despite its significance, an increasing amount of young people are largely unaware about the atrocities. McCann’s report states that 76% of Israeli teens have never met a Holocaust survivor and 48% of Jews aged 18-29 were completely unaware of the massacre at Babi Yar. In an attempt to make Holocaust remembrance more accessible for Gen Z, Zikaron Baslon put together a charity event using Call of Duty as the catalyst. Influencers play CoD WWII with Holocaust survivors The charity event called Fighting to Remember saw five Israeli influencers play through the Call of Duty: WWII campaign whilst sitting alongside Holocaust survivors. As they played through the story each survivor recited related events. During one sequence survivor Shimon Greenhouse recalled: “They burst into the ghetto and took us out into the square. They pointed at five people, my father being one of them. We took five steps forward and, from the back, they murdered all of them. My father fell on me, and I was covered in his blood.” Speaking to IGN Israel producer Danny-Ly Tiser, another survivor recounted: “At a certain night in September, on the Jewish New Year, the Germans came and they took my grandfather and two sisters. All of them were killed in Auschwitz. The strange thing is that we never believe we would be exterminated.” In addition to the videos published, Fighting to Remember will also feature a documentary series made up of several 15-minute extended versions of each conversation streamed on Amazon Prime Video. There are also plans to use these conversations in classrooms to better educate young people on the horrors of The Holocaust and what its victims went through.

Most notably, Hogwarts Legacy; a standalone, single-player title has taken the number one spot. The title, which saw some polarizing opinions across social media when it dropped, is reportedly on track to reach 20 million copies sold. And it’s currently outselling both Modern Warfare 3 and Diablo IV. It’s worth noting that MW3 only dropped last month, while Hogwarts Legacy was one of 2023’s first triple A releases and has had all year to accrue sales. Still, it’s unusual to see a game that’s basically done and dusted rank so highly among the top games sold at year’s end, there’s also been no additional DLC announced for it to date. And it’s managed to overtake a number of other popular titles, including Game Awards favorites. Hogwarts — which wasn’t nominated in a single category at this year’s Game Awards — also managed to beat sales of 2022’s top award winner; Elden Ring. This year’s game of the year winner, Baldur’s Gate 3, hasn’t made the list for 20 games sold yet. Though it’s worth keeping in mind this particular list doesn’t track digital sales, of which BG3 has certainly sold plenty. There’s a fair chance Hogwarts Legacy is on a lot of people’s Christmas lists this year, and as it’s available across consoles and PC, it’s likely receiving a bit of a boost in sales at the end of the year. Still, 20 million copies thus far is nothing to sneer at, even with help from Santa. Whether Hogwarts Legacy will stay on top to end the year, however, remains to be seen. But it’s certainly interesting to see it maintain such impressive sales throughout the first year of its release.

Across the original Warzone and now into Warzone 2, players have always been looking to get a leg up on the competition with different guns and loadout builds. Some of these have been because a gun is bugged and has better weapon stats than first thought, while others are down to using the right set of attachments. In Warzone 2’s Season 5 update, the devs decided to show some love to the battle royale’s SMGs and LMGs. The SMGs have taken over some top spots in the meta as a result, but LMGs are still slightly on the fringes – unless it’s name is the RPK. However, that shouldn’t be the case. Warzone 2 stats guru IceManIsaac pointed out that Sakin MG – one of the previous dominant weapons in the battle royale – is back to being in a powerful position and “feels like hitscan” in long-range fights. As Isaac points out in his August 14 video, the LMG kills up to 100m/s than its rivals – the Cronen Squall and TAQ-V – at long-range, and it more than holds its own in fights over shorter ranges too. The YouTuber noted it has “double the bullet velocity” of the more meta picks. “Almost 1600ms per second, that is faster than a sniper with high-velocity rounds. Like, it’s unbelievably fast how much this beams,” he added. There isn’t too funky of a loadout to go with the Sakin either. The Polarfire-S muzzle, 20’ Bruen Silver Series barrel, Aim-OP V4 sight, and 7.62 High Velocity rounds all feature. As we pointed out, the Sakin was a go-to weapon in earlier seasons of Warzone 2, but it has fallen off. WZRanked stats suggest it has a pick rate of 0.4%, which means nobody is using it. So, maybe get ahead of the curve and pick it back up.

On October 2, NRG’s official Twitter page posted the announcement in the form of a video skit, which showed H3CZ coming up with the idea while grilling outdoors. The future of fan-favorite organization OpTic Gaming has been up in the air since the news broke that Infinite Esports was selling to Immortals back in June. In the months since, a number of prominent names have left the OpTic brand, including Marcus ‘MBoZe’ Blanks and James ‘Spratt’ Spratt. Now, Hitch has confirmed his departure, and explained why OpTic as we all know it, is over. In a YouTube video uploaded on August 30 entitled ‘Leaving OpTic Gaming’, Hitch does his best to articulate the situation surrounding OpTic and why he – and a number of others – have recently left the Greenwall. Hitch explained that he has been joking about the situation to make it more manageable, before simply stating that “OpTic is no more.” “The Infinite thing happened, didn’t work out,” he said. “The Immortals thing started, it reminded me a lot of the Infinite thing. A lot of us just didn’t want to play ball, so it’s time to leave.” (Timestamp: 3:55) Many OpTic members stated that Infinite’s takeover back in 2017 led to a number of false promises and negative changes within the brand. Before then, and with a few releases in between, we’ve had Dead Silence instead. Both instances of the perk act in a similar way. They’re designed to help minimize your overall noise on the map. From minor reductions in footstep volume to complete silence in some games, the perk has varied in power. Players were able to sneak around the map, flank opposing setups, and generally make plays they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. This was the original intention of the perk, at least. In Black Ops Cold War, the overall design of the Ninja has been tweaked for better or worse. In the alpha test, the perk allowed players to “sprint more quietly.” Just days out from the beta and many in the community have highlighted this as one of their biggest concerns. “One concern I have going into Cold War is the lack of a silent footsteps perk,” Team Summertime’s Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards said on October 6. Rather than allowing for unique gameplay opportunities, he argues that Ninja in its current form makes the game “extremely slow.” “I don’t understand why CoD is going away from it. The best games had complete dead silence.” While the developers have been open to community feedback early on – already adjusting snipers ahead of release, for instance – they’ve yet to address the state of this iconic perk. Loadout Drops are supposed to your saving grace in any given Warzone lobby. After saving up with your team, all of the most powerful weapons become available. Though things haven’t quite been working as intended of late. Some Loadout bugs have made players invincible, others have frozen squads in place and ruined their matches. Now, there’s an over the top issue that comes when trying to call down your custom classes on a train. The train has been a part of Verdansk for a few seasons now, and Loadout Drops have worked just fine. Since the latest update, however, you’re going to want to avoid mixing the two at all costs. Early into a regular game on January 5, Reddit user ‘flaice’ was caught off guard by a series of mishaps. While standing on the moving train, they figured it was time to upgrade their equipment. Though upon throwing the Loadout marker, things were immediately off to a buggy start. The player dropped their marker on one section of the train before it appeared well down the line. They had to navigate their way through and climb over some obstacles before getting to their drop. When they got within range, things went from bad to worse. No prompt appeared on screen to let them equip a Loadout. It awkwardly pushed them away, glitched them down through the train momentarily, before eventually just killing them outright. Their teammate couldn’t help but laugh in the moment. Though neither player could use the Loadout Drop they’d just saved up for. It was completely broken and clearly lethal. Awkward geometry has had this effect in the past. Either launching players across the map or just slaughtering them on the spot. But it’s clear now that Loadout Drops don’t mix well with the many objects on the Verdansk train. If you’ve got one ready, make sure you safely exit the vehicle before trying to call it in. The last thing you want is for your team to be laughing as your own Loadout Drop ends your run.

Though, a new issue has cropped up where players get trapped inside Buy Stations. The Warzone 2 player base noticed a new bug that traps players underneath the Buy Station if a player happens to dive into it from the front. Multiple players have detailed their encounters with the new bug, with a common complaint being that issue has crept up after the Season 2 Reloaded update that went live on March 15. WZ 2 players frustrated that Buy Stations keep trapping them User Jesus_COD uploaded a clip to the r/CODWarzone Reddit where he dives into the Buy Station and promptly becomes stuck inside of it. He then uses the precision airstrike to knock himself down and manages to wiggle out of the Station and self-revives. Many players shared their misadventures with the bug, confirming that it’s not a one-off issue but an easily replicable bug. “Yup, happened to me twice. The solution is: don’t prone jump to shops anymore,” advises one user. “That happened to us in DMZ. My buddy cooked his grenade and everything. Couldn’t get out. We had to go get an ATV and drive it up to the Buy Station so he could get in it, that’s what got him out,” wrote another user revealing how one can become “unstuck” if playing with friends. It’s a fairly preventable issue, and there are ways to get yourself unstuck from the situation if you are playing with friends or have a self-revive on hand, but you could be forced to just quit the match if you’re just running as a solo. For the time being, players are advised to avoid diving near the Buy Station or jumping on top of it if one does not wish to be swallowed by it. While the full game released on November 5, there were several beta sessions beforehand that let players get a first-look at the new entry — and help developer Sledgehammer identify any pesky pre-release bugs, of which there were plenty. In one of the beta’s most memorable moments, CDL pro Scump was left dumbfounded after his own Attack Dogs killstreak betrayed him. Now, his beef with those fearsome animals has reached new levels after he encountered another hilarious bug involving the game’s canine menaces. While streaming some of his Vanguard gameplay on release day, Scump encountered yet another Attack Dog glitch which sent him completely over the edge. As he shot at enemies from an elevated tower, Abner was suddenly taken down by none other than a pack of vicious Attack Dogs. “How did these dogs get up here?” the pro screamed into his mic, sharing his confusion with fans in Twitch chat. “Where’d [they] come from?” Scump then exploded after his killcam revealed the dogs teleporting up, though the floorboards, just to track him down and chomp on him. “Excuse me,” he shouted as the hilarious bug unfolded on his screen. The clip only got better, however, as after taking down the CDL legend, one of the dogs flew across the map in gravity-defying fashion. “He started flying after [he killed me],” Scump continued to yell, before remarking in amazement “I’ve seen it all!” Abner remained dumbfounded for several minutes, clearly in disbelief over the events he just witnessed. “That might’ve been the craziest s**t I’ve seen in CoD,” he laughed to himself after finally overcoming his shock. “That was wild.” This is the latest entry in what might be an epic, year-long battle between these two Call of Duty superpowers. Sledgehammer Games could address the dogs’ behavior in a future update, but we’ll make sure to keep you posted if Scump and his furry friends have any other run-ins during Vanguard.

Finding time to both exercise and game is tough, especially if you have a full-time job. Despite this challenge, at least one player has decided to overcome it by combining both into one activity. Twitch streamer ‘InspiredGreen_’ has been exercising on a stationary bike during his gaming time, playing such titles as Call of Duty: Warzone. While it might seem like a difficult feat, the streamer has already gotten the hang of it. One clip from his broadcast, posted to Reddit, shows him exercising by playing an online multiplayer fitness game called Zwift, which allows people to use real-life equipment to roam around a virtual world, while also trying to complete a bounty in Warzone, barely completing it in time. The clip itself is pretty hilarious, and has garnered nearly 250 upvotes within just a few hours. In a message to Dexerto, InspiredGreen_ says that he’s actually lost some significant weight while experimenting with the current setup, which makes sense, considering Zwift is a full-blown simulator, creating realistic resistance and counting calories burned. While his latest clip tracking down a bounty kill is easily his most popular, it’s certainly not the first one that he’s uploaded to Reddit. InspiredGreen_ also does the same thing with Apex Legends, and even uploaded a few videos of himself winning some matches in the battle royale game while exercising on Zwift at the same time. At the end of the day, it’s hard to not be impressed by the streamer’s commitment to the setup, and perhaps it could inspire others to do the same. Hopefully, he’ll keep going with the setup and make even more hilarious moments while exercising.

Movement is one of the most important aspects of the Call of Duty franchise. Good movement can make a good player great, and help you put yourself in the best position possible for any gunfight. With that, though, comes the necessity for players to take advantage of unfair movement mechanics or bugs that leave their enemies helpless – but this glitch here really is a head-scratcher. While ‘snaking’ has been a movement bug found in a large number of Call of Duty titles, we’re not quite sure it’s ever looked like this. Typically, when anticipating a gunfight, you watch for people to run round corners or pop up at a door, perhaps, but this might’ve been the last thing fr0stehsnew expected to face. While playing Ground War, fr0stehsnew was holding the area around C to make sure no enemy could get in, but one player nearly slithered past him… literally. The first time you watch this you’ll literally laugh out loud, as his enemy comes around the corner at a rate of knots while prone on the ground, especially because of the split second where fr0stehsnew just doesn’t shoot, clearly flabbergasted at what he was seeing. As shown in the video, it happened again a little while later with the exact same player, which seems to suggest there’s some trick behind the movement. While it’s not clear what exactly causes this, some players responded with what they believe it to be having witnessed the issue before. Some claimed that it was simply a visual issue, as you could see the player standing in the killcam, while others suggest it could actually be done purposefully by entering a vehicle prone, looking downwards. While it’s not entirely clear what causes this, and despite how hilarious it is, it’s probably something that should be looked into and fixed when Season Four rolls around on June 3.

In a competitive shooter all about timing and accuracy niche tactics rarely come into effect. However due to certain Infinity Ward map designs, it turns out that hiding in plain sight can be a surprisingly beneficial strategy. While lying prone in a tall field of grass with a ghillie suit can often be a cheesy way to gain the upper hand, enemies will eventually grow wise and get the flank on you. This absurd Riot Shield strategy on Grazna Raid however, is completely foolproof. As exemplified throughout an amusing December 16 game of Search and Destroy, equipping a Riot Shield and wedging your character in the perfect spot can practically mask your appearance and leave the opposing team in shambles. As the only player left standing on the team, they rush towards the A bombsite in order to set up a proper defense against the four remaining opponents. Having successfully planted the bomb with a minute to go, the next move was to find a sneaky hiding spot and wait for the enemies to waltz on in. Jumping onto a small bin directly opposite the bomb will then allow you to scale up to an awkward looking spot atop a power box. Turning to face the bomb once again, with your back to the wall and Riot Shield in hand, this will provide a perfect vantage point while completely masking your character model from the opposition. With no limbs peaking out around the shield, enemies can easily mistake the Riot Shield as part of the map design and go about their business without taking any further notice. It didn’t take long before the rival team came flooding into the bombsite one by one. With an abundance of trusty throwing knives in hand and the window in which to defuse, rapidly closing, it was only a matter of time before the round win was secured. A tremendous hiding spot for ninja-defusing as well, this tactic can also work when the roles are reversed and you’re on the defending squad. Once the bomb has been planted, there’s an extremely slim chance players would expect a ninja to drop from overhead, leading to a hilariously stealthy defuse and thus, another round win. While this amusing trick will obviously only prove fruitful if the enemy team plays around the A bombsite, there’s no denying just how powerful the Riot Shield can be when employed in the right scenarios. If you’re loading into a game on Grazna Raid any time soon, keep this sneaky spot in mind and watch out for any devious players running to the bomb with a Riot Shield in their hands or else you might end up another unlucky victim.

It’s clear that the original video was a pre-fight hype interview between McGregor and fellow fighter Nate Diaz, but the editor took out Diaz’s half of the screen and included an old and funny video of Crimsix. The resulting effect is actually quite hilarious, as the things that Crimsix, McGregor, and the hosts say during the interview almost totally make sense with each other, despite the fact that they are from two completely unrelated video clips. One of the funniest moments was when Crim was “asked” about McGregor potentially overlooking him in his training, to which he responds: “So I’ve been in five fights, won all of them obviously, you know your boy. But I think four of them were in junior year of high school, and I think after junior year, no one fucked with me at all.” Now obviously Crimsix and McGregor would never actually be set to fight each other, as much as we’d all pay to see it, but when it comes to waging a war of words, very few can stand up to the verbal muscle that the 33x Call of Duty champion can flex.

The inspect weapon feature is a nice little option players have in Call of Duty games where the character can perform an animation to see all their attachments, stickers, or other cosmetics. When using inspect weapon, the player will even remove the magazine from the gun before re-inserting it in. And as it turns out, this makes for a pretty fun visual bug. As discovered by Redditor DaRaginAsian, when players hold a grenade and then activate inspect weapon, the magazine will start to float in the air. If this wasn’t already odd-looking enough, the magazine starts to behave just like if someone had their hands on it, despite it clearly floating by itself. Eventually, it gets re-inserted into the weapon and the player is able to return to the game like nothing happened. It’s not at all game-breaking, but rather just a fun bug that some don’t want to see get patched out. “I hope this doesn’t get patched out. It’s a bug probably but it deserves to stay in,” a user commented on the Reddit thread. “I hope this stays in, such a fun little harmless bug,” another replied. Meanwhile, others had a bit of fun with the whole Jedi/force comparison that the original poster made. “It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural,” joked a Star Wars fan. Only time will tell what Treyarch decides to do with this bug and if they deem it patch-worthy. Really, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it and doesn’t provide any sort of advantage to players, so it’ll be a shame to see it go.

As with any new release, Black Ops Cold War has had its fair share of bugs and glitches. From players falling through the map to a permanent thermal overlay, its obvious Treyarch overlooked a few elements of the game before releasing the title. However, if a bug is not game-breaking, players will usually laugh it off and let it go. It’s only when a glitch renders players completely useless that a bug starts to become more frustrating than funny. Well, that’s exactly the type of bug some players are experiencing on Fireteam Dirty Bomb and it’s fair to say they’re not pleased about it. Game-breaking bug suspends players above the map A video posted to the Black Ops Cold War subreddit reveals a game-breaking bug occurring on Fireteam Dirty Bomb. The glitch suspends the players above the map for the entire match with them unable to move or participate. On top of this, it appears the entire game mode is broken with teams being bigger than they’re are supposed to be and textures not loading in. As you can see, the players are left floating above the map and are audibly frustrated at the issue. One of them even states: “I’d genuinely be surprised if they even had playtesters for this game.” It’s worth noting the players can scope down onto the map below but they’re completely locked in place. Attempting to run will trigger the animation but no movement will occur. Glitches can be entertaining in certain titles, especially when they do not heavily impact the gameplay experience. However, in competitive games like Call of Duty, a game-breaking bug can be extremely frustrating. Fingers crossed Treyarch get this bug fixed as soon as possible so players don’t have to continue spectating the game from above the map.

    Highlights from Shroud, Karma and more at the Doritos Bowl Blackout Event – Results and Recap TwitchTeam shroud took first place at the first LAN event for Blackout, beating out second place Team CouRage narrowly, with an excellent showcase for Call of Duty’s first battle royale effort. The tournament featured four teams captained by top streamers, Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop, Ben ‘DrLupo’ Lupo and Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins. Over four heats, lasting an hour each, the teams of four had to rack up points as fast as they could, with 1 point perk kill, and a multiplier applied depending on the placing of each game. CouRage’s team, which featured pro CoD player Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow and former pro Tyler ‘TeePee’ Polchow as well as battle royale pro Jacob ‘Hysteria’ Reiser, were hot on the heels of shroud for much of the event. But every time they got close, thanks to 13 kill wins from Karma and others, shroud’s team would always edge ahead once more. The tournament finished with Team Shroud winning by over 90 points, a comfortable victory in the end. Plays like this from shroud himself show why he is one of the most higly regarded battle royale players, instantly switching between driver and passenger seat to take out opponents. Karma was the standout player for Team CouRage, showing his abilities are not limited to a controller only. This win, clutched by Karma to bring his kill tally to 13, put them just ahead of Team shroud, if only temporarily. He also finished off another win with two incredible snipes, and boasted another nine frags personally. Team Ninja and Team DrLupo were pretty much out of the running after the first two heats, but still had some highlight plays and wins throughout. Just9n, from Team Shroud, also took out DrLupo in one of the early games, as the four teams would enter the same game at the start of each heat. Ever since Warzone first launched, the Call of Duty battle royale has seen some wild meta shifts. When things first started, you absolutely to use a thermal scope, but now they’re just a distant memory. Most players still roll with a sniper or tactical rifle as their main weapon and throw in either an assault rifle or SMG as their backup gun, just to cover all bases. However, new findings from Warzone content creator TrueGameData could have everyone hopping onto the SMG bandwagon, especially when it comes to those from Black Ops Cold War. Following the recent changes in Season 4, the Warzone YouTuber enlisted the help of his community to dig into the numbers and see if there were any changes not mentioned in the patch notes. As per the YouTuber’s finding, Cold War SMGs now only have two damage profiles, with the third damage drop-off – shots from over 25 meters – being removed. “They’re a lot like ARs now in terms of damage drop-offs,” he said, noting that while some SMGs might do slightly less damage at close-range, they’re solid elsewhere. “Some of these SMGs might make really good sniper supports now, kind of like how we were using the Milano in the previous patch.” Fellow Warzone YouTuber BennyCentral pointed out that the changes could be bad news for meta attachments like the Gru and Agency suppressor. The UK content creator suggested that the Sound Suppressor would be the better choice for Cold War SMGs, given the increase it gives to the sprint to fire time. As TrueGameData also notes, this change could have happened prior to the newest patch, but at least Warzone players have got confirmation of it through the testing. It remains to be seen just how the changes influence the battle royale’s meta, but don’t be shocked to see more Cold War SMGs being shown some love.

Players have discerned between the worthwhile add-ons and those best left alone, however. And the Cronen Mini Red Dot has already been labeled a fan-favorite optic. Yet, it’s not the Cronen-branded optic attachment currently making the rounds on TikTok. “Hidden” MW2 optic is going viral for an unexpected reason Popular TikTok user loochytv recently regaled viewers with a tale of how he “[fell] in love with Modern Warfare 2.” Central to this love affair is the Expedite 12 shotgun, which the TikToker upgraded to level 7. While on his leveling journey, the player uncovered something “hidden” inside the weapon – “the greatest optic in Call of Duty history.” The optic in question is the Cronen Mini Pro. Though it bears a lot in common with the average red dot sight, loochytv said it’s special because the dot is “f—ing blue.” That’s right, the “hidden” MW2 optic that’s generated more than two million TikTok views owes its uniqueness to the color of its dot. This seems reason enough for shotgunners to invest their time and effort into leveling up the Expedite 12 weapon. Folks in the video’s comment section have called attention to the optic attachment’s other notable qualities, though. Apparently, the Cronen Mini Pro in the video above is the same as the red dot sight from the original Modern Warfare 2, according to several TikTok users. Over the last few seasons, Warzone has had its fair share of dominant SMGs come to the forefront. The likes of the PDSW 528, Fennec, and now the ISO 45 have terrorized players at close-range thanks to their high bullet velocity and movement speed. Some players have gone a different route with SMGs though, as they look to break away from those meta picks. Some have turned assault rifles into stronger close-range guns, while others just experiment with lesser-used SMGs. Well, if you fall on the latter side of that and want to use something else, then you might want to look into the MX9. Though, its strength does come with a mighty big catch. Best MX9 loadout for Warzone 2 Season 4 The MX9 was highlighted by Warzone guru WhosImmortal in his July 5th video, as he discussed some of the best meta SMGs in the game. “There’s an asterisk here, the MX9 is great right now… in solos!” the YouTuber said, pointing to its small magazine size bringing it down. “The MX9 has one of the best TTKs out of the entire SMG category right now, and it’s also very easy to use and it’s very mobile, very aggressive.” Naturally, the loadout does come with a bigger magazine, but that only takes it to 32 bullets, so you will have to value every shot. Many players have actually found the most precarious task of all should be a rather simply one – climbing a ladder. A problem originally discovered in the beta, ladders in Blackout can be cumbersome obstacles. In most games, you would simply approach the ladder and would be given some sort of prompt, before automatically swivelling 180 and being placed on the decline. But, Blackout requires you to walk backwards, very cautiously, until you hit the sweet spot, at which point you will then latch on. However, if you move just a smidge too fast, you will miss the ‘latching on’ bit, and simply fall off, possibly to your death if high enough. Thankfully, Treyarch has realized that their more realistic approach to ladder usage may be simply too awkward for some players, and so have added a new option in settings called ‘Ladder Mounting Orientation’. Skadoodle demands Treyarch give him specialist reward after his game crashes at worst possible momentChanging the setting to ‘Forward’ will allow you to simply approach ladders head on, and then get the latching on mechanic automatically. Be careful however, as if you move too fast or sprint of the edge, the game will recognize that your are moving to fast and you will simply fall (unless of course it is a great enough height to use your wingsuit.

For Team Heretics, it was a tournament of little progress. After dropping out of the winners bracket with a loss to E6, they were unable progress past losers bracket round four – losing 3-1 to eUnited. As a result of their performance, Heretics have already decided to shake things up with their roster, announcing the departure of their main AR player – Sukry. The 19-year-old joined Heretics in January 2018, but it was revealed that the difficult decision had to be made in order for the team to keep evolving, with Heretics thanking Sukry for his contribution during his time with the org. The question of owning a franchised team is still up in the air for Goorgo, but he’s been giving his fans hopeful updates as his “chances” of getting in the league are steadily increasing. In a mid-June update, the Heretics owner said they “have like a 50% chance of getting a spot,” but after his latest rounds of talks he boosted that percentage ever so slightly to around 60%. Even though it’s going to be a waiting game for the CoD team with the most vamos, the owner came back on July 8 to give another key update in their progress with simply: “70-30.” This is directly referencing his other messages indicating the possibility of owning a franchised spot in the league. It seems that whatever has happened since his July 5 update of “60-40,” Goorgo has been making good headway into locking down a spot. With the league already set to feature international spots in Paris and Toronto, there’s little reason to suggest that a CWL club couldn’t be situated in a major Spanish city. This might be one of the focal points to iron out before Goorgo and company get to a 100% chance of being welcomed into the new league. The Heretics have been one of the most exciting teams to see in the CWL, and have also qualified for a spot in the Pro League Playoffs.

The Ray Gun in Blackout is semi-auto, so one pull of the trigger fires one shot. It deals high damage, but some users have said that the splash is much smaller than in Zombie modes. Blackout’s Ray Gun has a retro-futuristic look that’s very similar to previous Black Ops games and some users have claimed that the look is too similar, like Reddit user ‘Lonely_Lord,’ who said they weren’t fans and that the weapon looked like it was rendered a decade ago. Youtuber ProSyndicate uploaded a video on Monday on his zombie adventure finding the Ray Gun and unlocking a musical Easter Egg: ProSyndicate picks up the Ray Gun in the same location, The Asylum, that Dosant did. “I am legit playing Zombies right now, this is ridiculous,” ProSyndicate said while throwing a Monkey bomb in the video. The addition of Zombies and Zombie slaying weapons into Blackout is sure to win over large parts of the CoD community. The excitement expressed by ProSyndicate after finding the Ray Gun is probably what a lot of zombie-centric CoD players will be feeling the first time they pick that little red monster up.

Rodriguez, who led the organization since 2007, sold the controlling stake in the company to Infinite Esports & Entertainment in 2017, but after a troubled two years, Infinite was acquired by Immortals in June 2019, along with the OpTic brand. H3CZ’s position in the new organization was initially unclear, with reports suggesting that he and Immortals CEO Ari Seagal had met to discuss a position for the now-former CEO. In a joint statement on September 15, Immortals and Rodriguez confirmed that such meetings had taken place, and although they were “extensive and amicable”, H3CZ “declined the opportunity to remain in his current role with OpTic”. “I have great respect for the Immortals Organization,” H3CZ explains in the statement, “they have treated me and all of OpTic’s players fairly during this transition period.” He released a video later in the day thanking all of the fans out there who supported him and OpTic in their journey, while also reassuring them he isn’t going anywhere. “I’ll never be done doing what it is that I do,” he said. “I’ll never ever ever be done being me because this is my life’s calling. This is my life’s work.” He also teased his next move by putting on an NRG hoodie at the end of the video. What’s next for H3CZ? H3CZ has not officially revealed his future plans in esports, but the statement ends by confirming that “both parties look forward to the new Call of Duty franchised-league.” By joining NRG, H3CZ would be involved with the Chicago franchise, which was the previous base of OpTic prior to the Infinite takeover, when operations moved to Texas., Under H3CZ’s direction, OpTic became one of the most recognizable brands in all of esports and gaming entertainment, and new franchise organizations will likely find his skills and experience invaluable. What’s next for OpTic? The Call of Duty team is the last remnants of the org, but the future of the 2019 season’s roster is now uncertain, with Crimsix having already announced restricted free agency.     Heavily requested sprint feature is finally coming to Blackout on console Following suit with other battle royale games like Fortnite and PUBG, Blackout is set to finally add an option which will allow you to sprint without repeated button pressing on console. Currently, Blackout on both Xbox One and PS4 requires players to press left stick down to sprint, and then continue to push the stick forward and down to carry on. In both Fortnite and PUBG, players can simply double press the left stick, which will make their character sprint endlessly, until the player touches the left stick again. This can be frustrating and painful for the thumbs of fully able players, but is even more of an issue for those with physical disabilities, in some cases making it almost impossible to play. One such player posted a plea to Treyarch on Reddit, reminding them once again that this feature needed added ASAP, explaining how necessary it is “for all us handicapped Gamers who cannot constantly press the left thumbstick forward to Run long distances.” Thankfully, Treyarch developer Matt Scronce quickly responded, and reassured players that they are “working on getting into the game on console as soon as possible.” Due to the nature of Battle Royale, with a large map often meaning players need to sprint for long distances either to escape enemies or the encroaching storm, an auto-sprint option should save many console players from aching thumbs. Blackout has been receiving the same attention as the traditional multiplayer and Zombies modes, with frequent updates and Blackout specific tuning since launch, as Treyarch stays true to its word of keeping it an ever-evolving experience. The addition of auto-sprint may seem a minor adjustment in the grand scheme of things, but will contribute to the overall polished feel, and of course be of biggest benefit to disabled players.

If you are going for a high kill game on Blackout when it drops on October 12, this heat map will be a useful guide to make sure you’re always landing in a hot spot with plenty of action. It also shows just how well Treyarch have managed to balance the map, which is one of the key components to a successful battle royale, perhaps even more so than weapon balance. The heat map shows that while there was definite hot spots, such as Firing Range, Nuketown Island and Rivertown, the action was still fairly evenly spread. Locations like Train Station, Array and Estates were slightly less populated, perhaps due to being off center, but still got a fair share of the action. Even the open areas, such as the wide expanse between Firing Range and Estates at the north of the map, which could have easily turned into a dead zone, saw plenty of combat during the beta, likely as an area players would be travelling through as they move to the safe zone. Fans of the Call of Duty League have undoubtedly been surprised by the turmoil that has enveloped the New York Subliners during the Vanguard season. Hopes were high coming into the campaign, with veterans (and serial winners) Clayster and Crimsix joined by young-guns Hydra and Neptune. However, they started the season inauspiciously, struggling in all game modes and crashing out of Major I in 9-12th. Since then, they have benched legend Clayster to pick up the impressive PaulEhx and all rumors suggest they are keen on a second new addition. News broke that they approached long-time CoD pro Havok over a spot on their starting roster but that he declined, despite not currently being in the CDL. McLendon last represented the Florida Mutineers in late 2021, so many were confused as to why he would turn down the opportunity. On March 19, amid a sea of confusion and even some backlash, Havok explained his choice. “I’ve seen a lot of negativity and misinformation… regarding my decision to not join NYSL,” he said. “First off I’m grateful that NY reached out to me in the first place. I’ve been working hard this year to get back in the league but at the same time getting on the wrong team can be detrimental to my career.” He explained that he was reluctant to team with PaulEhx amid comments the former London Royal Ravens player made about him, as well as being unsure whether the team was right following Clayster’s benching. He continued: “All of that considered I do think I would have joined if they had kept Clay… there’s no bad blood between Crim and I but I wasn’t confident that our personalities would mesh well in a competitive environment… The last reason that was influencing my decision was my current team TX Nation. Even though we’re battling in Challengers this is my favorite team that I’ve been a part of.” The former Mutineers player finished by saying that he didn’t feel confident taking the offer and also criticized comments made about him on CDL talk-show The Flank. He will continue to compete in the CDL Challengers alongside his team Texas Nation. As such, ahead of Major 2 Qualifiers, they were looking to make one or two changes in their starting line-up, which resulted in PaulEhx coming in. One name that was commonly being discussed, however, was Havok, and while that opportunity never arose, there has been some back and forth between himself and Crimsix after the dust settled. During a stream on March 24, Crimsix suggested that Havok called Clayster straight after the two of them spoke, and that roster plans may have been discussed. “He called Clay immediately after that call and, I’m going to assume, literally told him everything we just said.” Havok, though, was quick to point out that this wasn’t true at all. “Well this ain’t even true,” he said. “Clay reached out to ME before I ever talked to Crim and HyDra so I heard him out. They’ll be hoping to put this drama behind them and start racking up some notches in the W column.
