Romancing Lae’zel in Baldur’s Gate 3 could cause financial ruin Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player has warned others about romancing Lae’zel while she has a full inventory and armor. The Githyanki are one of the more unique races playable in Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite their quirks, they make for good party members and romancers. However, their unusual mating rituals could end up getting your Tav killed or put them into serious financial debt. When initiating Lae’zel’s mating ritual while romancing her, she will utilize the items in her inventory. This could spell death for player Tavs as Lae’zel’s ritual will have her attack the player. While attacking the Tav may catch some players off guard, Lae’zel’s ability to purge the items in her inventory is the nail in the coffin. “Her casting Confusion on me had me IRL confused because she’s a barbarian… I thought maybe I forgot she had an amulet or something allowing her to do that. Then after she tossed Karabasan’s gift on me, I realized she was throwing away all the expensive scrolls and potions I just barely finished pickpocketing off all the merchants in Moonrise.” explained the original poster. Those underneath the original post agreed that they too had similar experiences when romancing Lae’zel. Especially when it comes to her trying to attack the player’s Tav. “I stripped all her gear off her, but she was carrying the food. She nearly beat me to death with a sausage. While otherwise completely naked.” said another commenter. When you’re in your next playthrough romancing Lae’zel, be sure to limit what items and gear she has on her person. Otherwise, you may end up losing a lot of important items and armor.

Rare Balthazar dialogue has Baldur’s Gate 3 players amused – Dexerto
Rare Balthazar dialogue has Baldur’s Gate 3 players amused Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have found a rare and hilarious interaction with Balthazar that concerns the necromancer’s mother. Larian’s massive RPG is full of secrets for players to find if they’re willing to interact with everything and make some bizarre choices. One great example concerns Balthazar, who appears during Act 2. Balthazar’s relationships with his family members are unconventional, to say the least, but this moment shared on the BaldursGate3 subreddit indicates the necromancer is really a mama’s boy at heart. If you ask Balthazar about his mother, he’ll tell you “We’re still close. She’s in a jar on the shelf over there.” As the poster explains, it’s actually possible to steal the jar, which leads to a pretty hilarious interaction with Balthazar if you confess. If you tell Balthazar you have the jar containing his mother, he’ll demand you return it. Refusing to return her causes him to get angry and say “I gave you a chance, mother-thief!” The poster praised the moment, saying “Everything about this scene is golden, from the ability to steal Balthazar’s mother, to Durge’s sarcastic smirk and to everybody’s reaction to your being a mother thief.” At this point, Balthazar declares your potential deal over and attacks, though some players have shared that the interaction doesn’t always go as intended. “He called me a mother stealer then ran out of the room to go fight the [Dark Justiciars] it was wonderful,” said one commenter. Interestingly, it seems most companions approve of you messing with Balthazar, even those who typically prefer “good” choices like Wyll and Karlach. Halsin seems to be the only one to disapprove, which players have interpreted in different ways. One joked, “Halsin just wants you to stop being a g******* menace to everyone,” while another pointed out that Halsin mentions his late mother at least once, suggesting he has more personal reasons for disapproving of the player’s choices. Regardless, given how difficult it is to steal Balthazar’s mother without being spotted, the fact that Baldur’s Gate 3’s devs included a rare scene like this just in case is pretty impressive.

Players say Baldur’s Gate 3 fixes one of D&D 5e’s biggest issues – Dexerto
Players say Baldur’s Gate 3 fixes one of D&D 5e’s biggest issues Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are praising Larian for balancing martial and spellcasting characters, addressing a long-running Dungeons & Dragons issue. D&D players have long criticized the power disparity between melee and magic characters, with many noting that spellcasting classes greatly overshadow martial ones as the game goes on. But while Baldur’s Gate 3 draws on D&D, Fifth Edition players have praised developer Larian Studios for bridging the “martial/caster divide,” with one meme shared on Reddit summing up the situation and sparking a conversation on how the devs pulled it off. The post cites potions that temporarily increase the Strength stat and the prevalence of magic items as factors that let martial characters keep up with magic users. Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of gear that improves aspects of a build, providing extra abilities, spells, and more that a melee character can really benefit from. The best are unsurprisingly limited to later in the game, but there are plenty of helpful ones you can find early in Act 1. Commenters on the Reddit post have also noted that the game’s level cap helps even things out. Limiting characters to level 12 means you won’t be able to cast spells higher than level 6, eliminating potentially overpowered options like the level 7 Wizard spell Simulacrum – which essentially allows you to make copies of yourself or other party members. Also notable are the elimination of 5e’s attunement rules (which greatly limit how many magic items a character can benefit from at once), nerfs to spells like Polymorph and Counterspell, and encounter designs that make shoving and jumping (things martial characters do better than casters) incredibly useful. Of course, not all of these options are transferable to tabletop D&D. For one, plenty of Dungeon Masters have cautioned against adapting Baldur’s Gate 3’s gear, explaining that they would be overpowered in a TTRPG. Baldur’s Gate 3’s combat is more favorable to players than D&D’s. This is by design, as D&D players have infinite options for how they use their character’s abilities in and out of combat, and a human DM can adjust in ways a video game obviously cannot. While Larian’s solutions might not be the answer, D&D is planning to address the martial/caster divide. Playtests for the upcoming rules revision include a brand-new weapon mastery system and other tweaks, which should hopefully help melee characters keep with their their spellcasting counterparts.

“Painful” Baldur’s Gate 3 scene is becoming a playthrough necessity for many – Dexerto
“Painful” Baldur’s Gate 3 scene is becoming a playthrough necessity for many Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is arguing that it’s worth experiencing one of the game’s “most painful” scenes to get a special buff. Baldur’s Gate 3 players are adamant that it’s worth letting Volo give their character a lobotomy in graphic fashion in order to get a buff on the other side. Fans have had their fair share of scenes that emotionally resonate with them, both the good and the bad, including one where Volo tries to free the main character of their tadpole infection through rough methods. The scene that plays is rather graphic but, despite this, the community truly believes it is worth it for the end result. The discussion about the scene is going on over in the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, where a player mentions how it is, for them, the “most painful” scene to watch. And while many other fans agree that the scene is rough, they do argue that it is worth watching because of what is on the other side of the experience: “I hate this scene, but the buff is just so good…” The buff in question is a new eye given to the character, which provides them the ability to see Invisible characters within a certain radius, something that can be very beneficial against certain enemies. It’s such a good buff that some Baldur’s Gate 3 players have made this scene a requirement for every playthrough: “Did it by accident my first playthrough but now i do it on purpose every play through.” But this doesn’t reduce how painful it can be for many to watch the lobotomy play out, with one user claiming it’s the one part of the game that makes them “borderline sick.” Regardless of its graphic content, it seems a lot of the Baldur’s Gate 3 playerbase feels they have to do it to get stronger.

One unlikely Baldur’s Gate 3 race has far more reactions than others – Dexerto
One unlikely Baldur’s Gate 3 race has far more reactions than others Larian StudiosWhile there are different races to play in Baldur’s Gate 3, this particular one has more unique dialogue options and the highest world reactivity compared to others. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a variety of races you can choose from at the beginning of your playthrough. Aside from getting slightly different passives, oftentimes in your playthrough, you’ll also stumble upon unique dialogue options depending on your race. One example is how, as a Dragonborn, you can call out Rolan not to abandon his people in Act 1. While these unique dialogues help make the roleplaying aspect even more fun, it turns out that one particular race has more compared to others. As revealed in a Reddit thread, the Githyanki race has the highest world reactivity and dialogue options, followed by Loth-sworn Drow and then Dwarf Duergar. On the other hand, Half-Elf and humans have the least options based on the chart. In the comments, the OP explained that they used scripts pulled from Patch 6, released in February, for the data. Seeing this, one user explained that this makes sense, given that Mindflayers — the main enemies in the game — are the sworn enemies of Githyankis. And with “a good bunch of the game” being linked to Underdark, where Drows and Duergars are from, it’s expected to see them so high up. Some players also agreed that Githyanki being the number one spot makes sense solely because they are aliens to Faerun. “My first playthrough was with a Githyanki because of the long-jump spell and misty step. Since then, I’ve almost always used Githyanki (forced myself to be an elf this time, lmao) since the dialogue options are great, especially if you plan on progressing the story with Baezel (Lae’zel),” mentioned another. Unfortunately, as some have pointed out, the only problem with these kinds of unique interactions is that they’re mostly present in Act 1. Though with Patch 7 coming later in September of this year, we can only hope more things get added other than the mod support for both PC and console.

One spell is vital for cheating Baldur’s Gate 3 puzzles – Dexerto
One spell is vital for cheating Baldur’s Gate 3 puzzles Larian StudiosThe world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is extremely dangerous and its greatest treasures are hidden behind vicious beasts and fiendish traps. Or, you could do what most players do and use a single spell to bypass them all. As Baldur’s Gate 3 uses D&D 5E rules, the developers did their best to try and emulate the tabletop experience in video game form. This is why nearly every corpse and animal can be spoken to, as these can be done using spells. Unfortunately, some magical effects can make the game a lot easier. In fact, the Dispel Magic spell was cut from the game early in development due to how much it complicated almost every encounter in the game. One other spell has a similar effect in the final game, at least according to members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit. The spell in question is Misty Step, a short-range teleportation spell, as it lets you overcome many puzzles and dungeon hazards without actually dealing with them. “I have never, in 8 playthroughs, bothered to get to the Adamantine Forge using the levers and platforms,” the OP wrote, “I just Misty Step/Long Jump from where Nere is, unlock the waypoint, and FT everyone else across. It took me a long time to realize there even was another way.” “I don’t fight the room with the titan steel watcher. I just use someone to hide and jump/Misty Step to the neurocitor and boom, immediate cut scene,” another user wrote, while one said, “Never used the Shar’s trials properly. Misty step, my dear friend.” Misty Step is so useful that some people don’t even know about different methods. “Wait hold up… there are levers to get to the forge? You don’t have to have misty step..? (I’m on like playthrough 12.)” I even managed to pull this off in my own playthrough. Rather than dealing with the Goblin Camp leadership and acquiring a key to their locked treasure chamber, I simply stealthed past the guards, used Misty Step to get into their treasure room, looted everything, and then fast traveled to safety. These were just a few players who waltzed past the hardest dungeons in Baldur’s Gate 3 with a single spell. Dimension Door and Fly are also useful for avoiding playing the game, but you don’t get them until later. While using Misty Step to overcome the odds might seem like bad game design, it’s actually one of the most memorable aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3. Most games would prevent you from using your powers to skip content, but in Baldur’s Gate 3, it feels like it’s rewarding your ingenuity.

One of D&D’s most popular classes is being ignored by Baldur’s Gate 3 players – Dexerto
One of D&D’s most popular classes is being ignored by Baldur’s Gate 3 players Larian StudiosThe stats for Baldur’s Gate 3’s first anniversary are in, and it has been revealed that players are ignoring one of D&D’s most beloved spellcaster classes in favor of one of the unpopular ones. The arcane spellcasters have always been among D&D’s most popular classes, as they get to do all of the cool stuff. Impressive spells like Fireball, Lightning Bolt, Teleport, Fly, Haste, and Polymorph all fall squarely in the domain of the Wizard and Sorcerer. In a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, where most people enjoy it as a single-player experience, it would make sense for the arcane classes to be desirable. After all, it’s not like in D&D, where a mix of character types among multiple players is encouraged. Surprisingly, one class doesn’t see much attention among players. As discussed in a thread on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit page, the first-year anniversary stats revealed by Larian show that Wizard isn’t among the top three picks for most races and is #8 out of #12 in popularity. According to D&D Beyond‘s 2023 stats, the Wizard was ranked #4 in popularity, making it the most popular spellcaster class in the game. Despite this, Baldur’s Gate 3 players aren’t as interested in the class. There is also a total reversal for the Sorcerer class. The Baldur’s Gate 3 stats cite it as a popular top-three pick for several races, as well as being the #2 most popular class in the game (behind the Paladin.) Meanwhile, D&D Beyond cites it as the #11 class out of #13. One possible reason for this disparity is that Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you a Wizard early on, with Gale joining you in the early hours of the game. Gale is a fully fleshed-out character with his own sidequest that runs throughout the story, so people interested in playing the class can always just use him. The fact that Baldur’s Gate 3 gives the player tons of magical scrolls also diminishes the need for a Wizard. Their main benefit in D&D is their ability to learn every spell in the game, but if you’re given free uses of them via magic items, then do you need to bother with a Wizard in the party?

One easy Baldur’s Gate 3 trick will guarantee safe passage in Act 2 – Dexerto
One easy Baldur’s Gate 3 trick will guarantee safe passage in Act 2 Larian StudiosAct Two of Baldur’s Gate 3 is among one of the toughest areas in the game thanks to the Shadow Curse, but that can all be avoided by just being kind. Sure, the many villains and impending doom are certainly able to take your party down, but typically you can’t avoid them. However, this isn’t the case for Act Two’s biggest danger and the cause of the most frustration, the Shadowlands. The primary issue with the Shadowlands is its inherent need to force a party to stay together, or constantly be in danger of turning into a monster. As such, it’s a key point of frustration for many players, especially those who grab the moonlight lantern and then have to follow closely behind the wielder. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. In fact, despite the constant threats, the Pixie in the Moonlight Lantern isn’t as bad as it sounds, and if you free it, you’ll be granted permanent resistance to the Shadow Curse. To do so, players on the game’s Reddit suggested that you “always ambush Karniss” in order to get hold of the lantern itself. However, others were quick to highlight another way, just in case you don’t have the stealth for an ambush. “You don’t even have to ambush him to get it – if you meet him after going through the Mountain Pass to the Shadowlands, you can roll to persuade him to give it to you. He then dies to the Shadow Curse himself” commented one fan. Such a design feels much like a certain way to take down Ketheric by simply talking to him, and is an ideal way if you have a bard or charismatic companion. While some players will know the benefits of freeing the Pixie, it’s not something entirely clear in Baldur’s Gate 3. So, if you’re looking to jump back into a Baldur’s Gate 3 run, be sure to take down Karniss and be a little kinder to the imprisoned Pixie – it could just make Act Three much easier too.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 spell is a lot stronger than fans think it is – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 spell is a lot stronger than fans think it is Larian StudiosA Cantrip in Baldur’s Gate 3 is unfairly maligned by the fanbase, thanks to a UI glitch that displays incorrect information about its accuracy. Cantrips in Baldur’s Gate 3 and D&D are weak spells that can be used unlimited times. The fact that low-level characters only get a few slots for stronger spells means you’ll be relying on your Cantrips to deal damage in most battles. Unfortunately, Cantrips have earned a reputation for their poor accuracy. Sacred Flame might be the worst offender, especially when used by Shadowheart, as it’s notorious for always missing. It’s supposed to be a spell that conjures divine light, yet enemies are really good at dodging the wrath of the gods. Users of the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit have discovered that there’s an error in the game that causes information about Sacred Flame to be displayed incorrectly. The OP explained, “I’ve always hated SF in BG3 because of what I assumed was a coding issue: the tooltip states that your Spell Save DC is based on YOUR DEX modifier, rather than your spellcasting modifier (usually WIS). The success chance even reflects this. However, if you check the combat log after casting, it shows that the calculation was in fact made with the right ability modifier.” One user wrote, “Great find OP, I felt the tooltip was a bit sus during my play through but never thought too deep about them because my friends explained all the rules to me so I mostly ignored tooltips. I’m surprised that they still have this bug in their game.” “This is a big deal and literally effects how people play the game. Larian really needs to fix it,” one user said, while another wrote, “This is why I use T to look at enemies stats and resistances. They should know about this highly misleading bug and fix it sooner than later but who knows?” This isn’t to say that Sacred Flame is some incredible spell: it has the same issues as the other damage-dealing Cantrips. You just shouldn’t trust what the game is saying about it, especially as it’s an unlimited source of Radiant damage that you can be using against undead foes. Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to receive more updates, as we’re still waiting for the Photo Mode. Hopefully, the UI issue with displaying spell save DCs will be fixed before Larian finally leaves the game behind, and Sacred Flame will be maligned no more.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 spell is a lifesaver in “tough” Iron Throne quest – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 spell is a lifesaver in “tough” Iron Throne quest Larian StudiosSaving the Iron Throne prisoners in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the toughest quests in the game, but this low-level spell can help you do the job easily. Just when you think the Faith Leap trial is hard enough in Baldur’s Gate 3, you get greeted with the Iron Throne quest in Act 3. In this quest, not only are you racing against time due to your limited turns to save the Duke Ravenguard, the Gondians, and even possibly Omeluum – but you’ll also need to deal with the aquatic creatures roaming around the place, preventing everyone from leaving alive. Granted, you can just choose to save Duke Ravengard over Wyll and other NPCs, but there’s no denying that there’s some satisfaction when you can save everyone. While some label this as a hard and tough mission to do, players have gathered in a Reddit thread to reveal tricks to complete this quest flawlessly. Many of these tricks involve using mobility spells, like Dimension Door and Misty Step, but there’s one low-level spell that can be a lifesaver when it comes to saving your turns: Magic Missile. One user reminded other players that each missile from the Magic Missile spell can be used to target a different lever when opening the jail cells. “If you’re a Sorcerer, you can quickened spell one cast of MM for the levers, then another spell for the Sahuagin guarding the room. Could save you a turn.” They added: “Also, having the Magic Missle necklace on Shadowheart (or another Cleric), casting it in Ravengard’s room for him and the other cell, then using your bonus action to cast Sanctuary on him prevents the spiders from attacking him.” Alternatively, if your party doesn’t have access to this spell, you can also shoot the levers using arrows with a ranged attack. To make things easier, some players in the comments also suggested bringing summons to the Iron Throne, as they can help interact with the levers by attacking them.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 race is the “cheat code” for Act 1 – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 race is the “cheat code” for Act 1 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players shared their experience with one particular race that makes the whole of Act 1 feel like a walk in the park. The beauty of Baldur’s Gate 3 is that the whole playthrough can be a different experience, depending on the race you picked. Not just when it comes to combat, but also dialogue options and the way companions as well as NPCs react to you. Out of all the races in the game, however, there’s one race that has a lot of reactivity in the game other than the Githyanki. To top it off, this race also makes Act 1 a breeze since you can get away with so many things other races would normally struggle with. And that race is none other than the Underdark elf, Drow, as players have discussed in a Reddit thread. As a Drow, you essentially get to choose between a Lolth-Sworn and Seldarine, the latter often being referred to as the “good” version. Regardless of which one you choose, a lot of characters you meet on the surface will still be scared, alert, or even impressed with you. Not to mention, as a Drow, evil NPCs, including the goblins, would be naturally afraid of you, which makes going inside their camp a walk in the park. One user in the comments even went as far as labeling this race as “the cheat code for Act 1.” “Everyone is scared of you and they let you in without any fights or persuasion checks. They automatically assume that you’re a True Soul,” explained a different user. One example of this is the interaction when you get caught poisoning the jug in the goblin camp. “When you’re accused after poisoning the goblins, you can respond with ‘be happy I didn’t just gut you instead’, and they’re just like ‘Oh, alright,’” commented one user. Meanwhile, another user who knew nothing about the game was left surprised after creating a “Muscle Drow Bard Lady.” They added, “I just laughed at how easy rolls and intimidations were.” Thanks to your passive immunity, you can also catch Priestess Gut off guard when she fails to put you to sleep from her drink in the goblin camp. Additionally, if you happen to meet Kagha in the Druid’s Grove as Drow, you’ll get a surprisingly positive reaction from her. She’ll mention that your presence in the grove is “a sign” or a “gift.” Each race in Baldur’s Gate 3 has its own special dialogues, and Drow certainly has some interesting ones, especially if you’re playing an evil run.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC reveals major frustration with Dark Urge storyline – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC reveals major frustration with Dark Urge storyline Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have discovered that a minor Act 3 NPC seems to care way more about a major Dark Urge revelation than anyone in the party. One common complaint among Baldur’s Gate 3 players concerns how the game handles its major Dark Urge revelation. In Act 3, the Dark Urge finally learns the truth about who they are and where they come from, but the revelation is somewhat undercut by the minimal reaction from companions. Everyone seems to get over it pretty quickly despite how much damage was done, especially to characters like Karlach and Wyll. However, players have found there’s one unexpected NPC who actually does have a significant reaction to the Dark Urge – and you probably won’t recognize her name. As one Reddit user shared, Dark Urge players can tell Devella Fountainhead of the Flaming Fist that they are a Bhaalspawn – a child of the God of Murder Bhaal. The constable appears as part of the “Investigate the Murders” quest related to Orin and her Netherstone. “I maybe expected one or two sentences and a kill/spare choice. Lo and behold, the entire conversation, her demeanor and even quest’s focus turned towards Durge,” they explained. Devella’s reaction even extends beyond that initial conversation, with the poster sharing that “Next time I saved her she still greeted me as a Bhaalspawn, compared me to Gorion’s Ward and even asked if I was nervous to face against my Father.” All this stands in stark contrast to Baldur’s Gate 3’s companions, who don’t actually have much to say about the Dark Urge’s true identity and history. Speaking to your party members right after the reveal yields some reactions, but it doesn’t take long for everyone to sweep it under the rug. That’s even true of characters who were very directly hurt by the Dark Urge and their allies like Karlach, who was betrayed by Gortash, and Wyll, whose father was captured and brainwashed by the the Chosen Three. As one commenter put it, “The companions’ reactions just befuddled me. I tell that I’m a bhaalspawn, and then they all go ‘well mystery solved, gang.’ and then forget about the whole thing.” These perceived shortcomings of the Dark Urge storyline extend to the rest of the game, with one pointing out that “after you kill Alfira, everyone basically just says, ‘ok, well don’t do that again.’” Devella’s reaction makes perfect sense considering her existing suspicion that Bhaalists are behind the murder. But while this is the kind of attention to detail Baldur’s Gate 3 players expect, it also shines extra light on a place where the game does fall short.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC is so weak players are convinced it’s a bug – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 NPC is so weak players are convinced it’s a bug Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s Dame Aylin has got fans convinced that there must be a bug making her weaker, with many slamming her “disappointing lack of power.“ In Baldur’s Gate 3, Dame Aylin is the daughter of the goddess Selune, but many fans are questioning where the God-like powers have flown off to after spotting just how weak she actually is in battle. In fact, it’s gotten so bad, that many are questioning whether her lack of power is actually a hidden bug added in recent patches. One user took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit to ask the community whether Dame Aylin needs a major buff, revealing that “Dame Aylin is so weak it feels like a bug. It is jarring, disappointing, and takes me out of the game.” They went on to add that this all changed thanks to the current patch: “In this patch, it is a feel bad…Multiplying her power would also make the fight with the Apostle of Myrkul more reasonable. Currently, on the Tactical level or harder, it is beyond the pale.” Many players agreed with the poster, with one fan stating that she’s “narratively strong but mechanically weak.” Another echoed the commenter’s thoughts, highlighting that “she is kind of a disappointment” especially given how hyped up she is at the beginning of the game. While plenty slammed her lack of powers, others suggested ways in which Larian could improve her power: “She really just needs more health” which would in turn keep her alive long enough to deal some impressive damage, which are typically caused by her critical hits. Nevertheless, many defended Aylin, revealing that her lack of power was “for game balance” and that “not everything needs a lore justification. Just having another summon on the field that deals damage and takes hits is already a huge buff.” Others honed in on the traditional D&D inspiration, explaining that “there’s an unspoken rule in DnD for DMs. Don’t overuse DM PCs or have them overshadow the party. I think that’s what was going on with Dame Aylin. She could make the game too trivial and kinda boring if she’s too powerful and too accessible for cheesing fights.” Ultimately, Dame Aylin may be the daughter of a goddess, but the narrative still comes first. While she may be a little too weak according to fans, it’s vital that the PCs get more damage, health, and glory than the game’s NPCs.

One Baldur’s Gate 3 feature is so fast that players miss it entirely – Dexerto
One Baldur’s Gate 3 feature is so fast that players miss it entirely Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are rolling a natural one on their perception checks during their adventure, with tons missing one key feature entirely. Nothing is more ironic than players not spotting their characters’ perception checks in Baldur’s Gate 3, but given how fast they pop up and disappear, it can be easy for many players to miss them. Unfortunately for many, perception checks are vital during exploration. They can help you discover traps, find levers, secret rooms, or even new quests to complete – but that’s all pointless if you don’t spot the perception check when it comes up. Essentially, when playing Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll hear the sound of a dice rolling, then the noise of a success or failure. This is likely to be the perception check. If it’s a success then the discovered element will shine in a blue light, but only for a short while, meaning many miss its reveal entirely. As such, BG3 players have had enough, with many taking to the game’s Reddit to share their frustrations. One user posted: “I wish the Percep check “illumination” didn’t fade so fast.” Going on to explain how “the blue light around the subject of the perception check goes away in seconds, so if I don’t see it right away I swing my camera around the room like a madman trying to find it.” They usually have no luck, and shortly after, asked the rest of the community whether this was a widespread frustration. “Yes” commented one player, jokingly writing: “I call it “when your character passed the perception check and you didn’t” While many agreed, some shared how the element could be fixed in the future, wishing that “the perception check pinged on the map too.” The maps in BG3 are so extensive that it can be impossible to keep track of perceived leavers or items, so being able to see it on the map would be ideal. On top of this, another player revealed the best way to avoid any missed checks: “The alt key is your friend if you don’t already use it.” Essentially, the alt button (on PC) will light up anything on the map with a name, so you can easily spot levers, buttons, or hidden items. While that isn’t a fix, it’ll certainly help if you manage to roll a natural one on your own perception check.

No amount of OP builds will make me play this Baldur’s Gate 3 class – Dexerto
No amount of OP builds will make me play this Baldur’s Gate 3 class Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has an abundance of character creation options, and I want to play them all eventually. While I’ve only ever finished a single Warlock playthrough, I intend to do more despite newer video games constantly calling me over with their siren song. I’m probably never going to do an Origin run (because why would I? The characters are already in my party, and from what I’ve seen online, they don’t change the story all that much), but custom Tavs, the Dark Urge, and the Light Urge are all exciting to me. With these countless opportunities for interesting Baldur’s Gate 3 protagonists, there’s one class I’m in no rush to play because it’s the most boring and doesn’t gel with the setting like other classes do: Sorry Monk fans. Monks just hit things One of the best things about Baldur’s Gate 3 is how exciting the main character is to play as. If my Tav/Dark Urge is going to be the protagonist, then they damn well better be the star of the show. This is easiest for spellcasters, as they get the flashiest abilities in the game. Having access to a full spell suite means you can do all kinds of impressive things, ranging from throwing fireballs, conjuring beasts from another dimension, and erecting magical barriers to batter foes as they approach. The warrior classes aren’t always as impressive as their magical counterparts, but many of them get cool abilities in their subclasses. The Fighter can throw out fancy moves with their Battle Master, while the Barbarian unleashes chaotic spells when they dabble in Wild Magic. This brings us to the class that I’ll never bring myself to play in Baldur’s Gate 3: the Monk. The Monk is great at one thing: hitting people. If you ain’t hitting someone, then you’re doing it wrong. The Monk class is entirely focused on combat. Not only that, but it’s also the blandest form of combat. You’re going to spend most of the game punching enemies or using the limited Monk Weapons to whack foes over and over again, every single round. True, there are Monk subclasses that shake things up, but they come with their own issues. The Four Elements Monk just turns you into a bad spellcaster, and why would you be casting spells if you could hit people? Meanwhile, the Shadow Monk is just a worse Rogue, with abilities that can easily be emulated by potions, scrolls, or spells used by other party members. The issue is that the Monk abilities just aren’t that exciting. They’re useful in a numerical sense, and your character can become really powerful, but it’s a very boring playstyle, especially compared to pretty much every other class in the game. The other issue is that Monks aren’t great at talking. To play a decent Monk, you’ll need a high Dexterity score for your attacks, a high Constitution score to survive combat, and a high Wisdom for your Unarmoured Defense and Ki abilities. With this in mind, your Intelligence and Charisma are going to be lower on your list of priorities if you want to survive. This means that it’s harder for you to get unique responses in combat. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers lots of opportunities to skip combat or resolve difficult situations in unique ways, all through conversational skill checks. But you’re the Monk, and you don’t talk; you hit! The Monk and the magic item problem You could say the same things for the Barbarian, but they have two big advantages over the Monk. For one thing, the Barbarian gets some awesome unique dialogue options that let them cow their foes and cause chaos. The other is that the Barbarian has a wider range of weapons and armor to use. This brings us to another Monk problem: a lack of equipment. One of the coolest things about Baldur’s Gate 3 is that magic items have a tangible feeling of strength. This is especially true when compared to games like Final Fantasy 14, where gear mostly exists to look cool. In D&D, a new weapon that shoots lightning bolts or a staff that adds spells to your repertoire can feel like a real upgrade. You get that dopamine rush whenever you pilfer something awesome from an enemy and use it with your group. Meanwhile, the Monk has a low pool of weapons to use, while their reliance on Unarmored Defense means they only have a few armor options. As such, you won’t get that same feeling of escalation as often when playing as a Monk, as their best equipment is unique to them, is extremely rare, and the best ones are hidden behind difficult boss encounters in Act III. This isn’t to say the Monk never gets cool items, but the class as a whole doesn’t benefit from gear as much as the others, so it’s something else that makes them less exciting to me than the options available. You got anime in my high fantasy The other main issue with the Monk is that it doesn’t fit in with the Forgotten Realms setting. This is just as true in D&D, even dating back to the 3rd ed era when the Monk joined the roster, as the Monk has always felt out of place. Imagine if you would, the Fellowship of the Ring leaving Rivendell on their way to Mordor. Only, this time around, Gimli has been replaced with Bruce Lee in his iconic black and yellow gear. That’s how Monks feel to me in both D&D and Baldur’s Gate 4. (Saying that, the Fellowship probably would have been more successful with Bruce Lee, but that’s beside the point. Also, I love you Gimli!) Monks are very much rooted in Eastern mythology and fantasy culture, which is very different from the European Medieval roots of D&D. As such, they’ve always felt off, especially in campaigns where they’re hanging out with wizards and elves. In that regard, Monks have also felt like anime characters. Give them a Potion of Flying and a Monk is pretty much a Dragon Ball Z character. This isn’t to say that D&D has to stick to one kind of aesthetic. The game plunders ideas from every mythology and fantasy series on the planet. It’s why the Medusa can chill with a Mummy in Cthulhu’s pad, just waiting for adventurers to come and get eaten. When it comes to main characters, the wise Monk who beats up people with their martial skills feels strange when coupled with knights in plate mail armor. It’s a reason why I’ll never play one and why I’ll respec a party member into Monk. I don’t want the devilish Rogue Astarion taking enemies down with a Kimura armbar. Monks are ridiculously powerful, but that doesn’t matter By far, the biggest benefit of playing the Monk is that they’re considered the strongest class in the game, or rather, certain Monk builds are considered OP. A Monk who uses the Open Hand subclass and takes the Tavern Brawler Feat can absolutely destroy anything in its path. Their Flurry of Blows will rip enemies to shred, while your debuffs can take down elite monsters with ease. If I was planning on doing an Honour Mode and trying to earn the golden dice, then the OP Monk build would be something I’d consider. However, as I’m not a statistical masochist, I’m probably never going to attempt an Honour Mode run. (Well, that’s a lie. I did try it once, but all it took was the Intellect Devourers with ranged attacks that killed me as soon as I left the tutorial area to convince me that it wasn’t for me.) To me, Baldur’s Gate 3 is about being the main character. I want the social character with unique dialogue options that can change the story. I want flashy spells that change the battlefield. I want items that improve my playstyle and look impressive as hell when they’re equipped. And I’m not alone in this. There’s a reason why the Paladin and the Sorcerer are the most popular classes in the game: they’re all about cool-looking powers and the might of personality. People want that character in the front slot of the party. Meanwhile, the Monk is good at hitting things. And while Goku might be the star of one of the biggest anime franchises of all time, I wouldn’t want to play as him in the Forgotten Realms.

Nine-Fingers Keene name revelation stuns Baldur’s Gate 3 players – Dexerto
Nine-Fingers Keene name revelation stuns Baldur’s Gate 3 players Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players were surprised to find that Nine-Fingers Keene’s story went beyond a few knives in her inventory. Nine-Fingers Keene is a human Guildmaster of the Guild that can be found in the Guildhall in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate. But unlike most NPCs’ Nine-Fingers Keene’s backstory extends beyond the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. Within the universe of Magic the Gathering, Nine-Fingers Keene is known by her name due to her lack of a pinkie finger. She is a rare Commander card with the following description: “When Nine-Fingers Keene deals combat damage, reveal the top nine cards of your library. You may put a Gate card from them onto the battlefield. If you control nine or more Gates, put the remaining cards into your hand; otherwise, place them at the bottom of your library in a random order.” Nine-Fingers Keene was kidnapped as a child by a one-eyed elf who cut off her pinkie and sent it as a message to her parents as a ransom. While she escaped her capture, her story didn’t end there. She later came back and tortured the elf by cutting out his last remaining eye and removing eight of his fingers, leaving only his pinkies behind. In Baldur’s Gate 3 players can peer into Nine-Finger Keene’s inventory to see what goods she’s hiding. Outside of two slots for keys, her entire inventory is filled with knives. This led players to begin speculating about what this could mean for her backstory and if it had anything to do with her only having nine fingers. “I’d like to believe she lost a finger just from reaching into her pockets too hastily,” one said. “Girl can’t reach for anything in ANY of her pockets without risking a cut on an artery. Get a grip, lady,” said another. One user on the Reddit thread claimed that Nine-Fingers Keene has a secret inventory that can be accessed. Instead of knives, the inventory is filled with fingers. These fingers are allegedly from all the rogues who came to pickpocket her and were met with a sharp surprise. In Baldur’s Gate 3, Nine-Fingers Keene excels in combat, wielding an impressive collection of knives as her primary weapons. She can use up to three knives in a single turn, each dealing 50 damage, making her a formidable opponent.

New official Baldur’s Gate 3 mods have already fixed the worst race in the game – Dexerto
New official Baldur’s Gate 3 mods have already fixed the worst race in the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players on consoles won’t have to feel underpowered when playing one specific race anymore, thanks to the modding community rushing to the rescue. While the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has had mods since launch, these could only be applied to the PC version of the game. As these were unofficial programs, they also had the potential to mess up your save file or cause any number of game-breaking glitches. Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has added an official mod manager to PC version of the game, with a consoles receiving it in October. This allows mods curated by developer Larian Studios to be downloaded and enjoyed by fans, some of which are available now. Only a handful of race and subclass mods are available, but some vital ones have been added to the service, referring to one of the weakest races in the game getting a serious buff. The Dragonborn are finally powerful via Baldur’s Gate 3 mods The Dragonborn race is considered one of the worst in Baldur’s Gate 3 due to how weak their Breath Attack special is, especially as it takes an Action to use. The race was so bad that D&D has upgraded it twice since 2014. There are currently two mods via the Baldur’s Gate 3 manager that update the woefully underpowered Dragonborn race: Dragonborn Reimagined and Dragonborn Reasonable Enhancement. Dragonborn Reimagined reduces the use time of Breath Attack to Bonus Action, making it a lot more useful in combat. They also gain Darkvision and the Half-Orc’s Savage Attack feature, letting them deal more damage on crits. Dragonborn Reasonable Enhancement is a bit more subdued, giving them proficiency in Athletics, longsword, longbow, shortsword, shortbow, and shield. They also gain extra movement speed and the Warlock’s Devil Sight ability, letting them see through magical darkness. These buffs to the Dragonborn race will make them more satisfying to play, as the current iteration looks cool but feels underbaked in abilities, especially compared to the Githyanki and the Tieflings. The only question now is when the human race will get their buff. If mods can finally swing it so they can get a Feat at level 1 (like in the D&D Player’s Handbook), then there will finally be a reason to play as one.

New Baldur’s Gate update makes platform puzzle “impossible” to finish – Dexerto
New Baldur’s Gate update makes platform puzzle “impossible” to finish Larian StudiosShar is finally getting her revenge, as a new Baldur’s Gate 3 patch has increased the difficulty of a puzzle that fans used to breeze through. The Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur’s Gate 3 has a puzzle where players must walk across a pit above a void. As Shar is the goddess of darkness, the puzzle ties into her divine portfolio as the path across the pit appears in the dark. A new update for Baldur’s Gate 3 has been released, which has been noticed by a user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, who created a thread asking other fans if they have seen a spike in difficulty in the Gauntlet of Shar. “I swear it’s a lot harder than it used to be,” the OP said, “My first few playthroughs, you could actually see the path. Now I absolutely can’t, and apparently I can’t follow the pattern correctly, because Shart keeps dying.” “Make sure you don’t have Lathander’s Light or any other weapon/gear/spell that casts light. You can only see the pathway if the room is completely dark,” one user suggested, “If you have the ingredients for a potion of jumping or an elixir of strength, you can use it on Karlach and have her jump either back to the entrance or to the exit, if either are within reach.” “I’ve found it can be very temperamental,” another user mentioned, “On my HM run, I was able to cheese it with a potion of glorious vaulting and just jump right to the end, but on other playthroughs, that’s completely not worked.” “I’ve always flown across, but never in turn based mode. Not sure if that’s your issue but it might be,” one player wrote, and another said, “It’s more annoying than it used to be for sure.” Baldur’s Gate 3 has so many options available to the player (thanks to its use of the D&D 5e ruleset), which means there are plenty of ways to solve problems. Maybe the developers tightened the rules around the Gauntlet of Shar over time, or maybe it’s just a case of the game being iffy and doing different things for different people.

New Baldur’s Gate 3 player “traumatized” after witnessing that one romance cutscene – Dexerto
New Baldur’s Gate 3 player “traumatized” after witnessing that one romance cutscene Larian StudiosRomance is an integral part of the gameplay loop for Baldur’s Gate 3. However, one player was traumatized after witnessing romance scenes of their friend with the Emperor and Halsin. The discussion was initiated by a Reddit user who claimed, “I think I just traumatized my friend.” They further stated, “We are going through our first playthrough and we reached act 3. We go to take a long rest and a dream sequence commences.” They continued, “I see an option to romance Emperor and I just had to try it out. Well, his dream is certainly shorter than mine, and so he joins to see what is taking me so long… Just to see my Tav fondling some tentacles.” They also mentioned, “I wish the story would end there, but we brave forth. Next day I’m talking to Halsin and I get a romance scene. Yeah, guess when my friend joins to take a look why I’m taking so long? Yup.” Finally, they concluded, “I don’t think he will look squids or bears the same any day soon.” Other players joined to the conversation as well, since they found this interaction quite funny. One such user stated, “Doesn’t the Emperor promise to wipe your companions’ memories? What a liar!” Another user chimed in, “My man’s said he saw an option to romance the emperor and he just haaaad to try it out.” One player also claimed, “The Emperor’s romance scene is so good.” Finally, one of the players commented, “Your friend certainly likes to peek a lot at your private moments. Maybe not accidents at all.” Baldur’s Gate 3 offers you the option to romance almost every companion (apart from NPCs). However, some of those romance scenes can be questionable depending on your tastes. Therefore, for an average person, these romance scenes might look traumatizing. However, that is the beauty of this game as it drives players to do the unthinkable.

New Baldur’s Gate 3 player dismayed by D&D’s “strangely depressing” lore – Dexerto
New Baldur’s Gate 3 player dismayed by D&D’s “strangely depressing” lore Larian StudiosA new Baldur’s Gate 3 player entering the world of Faerûn for the first time was taken aback by the “super depressing” setting in which the game takes place. The world of Dungeons & Dragons that Baldur’s Gate 3 takes most of its cues from is sprawling and immersive, but at the end of the day, it’s a world built from the ground up for things to go wrong. How else would all of those campaigns start? This means there are quite a few more sources of conflict on the Sword Coast than players might expect. After all, in the span of one game (admittedly quite a big one), your party runs into three gods of death, an authoritarian Githyanki queen, several devils, an Elder Brain, and a host of other deities and eldritch abominations. Oh, and the hag. Baldur’s Gate 3 player finds too many evil gods All of this makes for a great RPG story, but would you really want to live there? For quite a few players, Baldur’s Gate 3 is their first encounter with the lore of D&D, and it’s easy to see why they might come away with a negative view of life in this world. One player in particular was dismayed by the number of antagonistic deities they ran into, saying: “The more I play, the more it appears the entire universe of BG revolves around various Gods and God-like beings fighting for control/power. From my understanding, the more followers/worshipers they get, the stronger they become. “But the more I play, the more it really looks like you either join them or get screwed. Everyone below them is basically a pawn for their power play. Except all the Gods suck, even the good ones really come across as mostly selfish.” “Everyone below them is basically stuck in a perpetual cycle of conflict between the various Gods, never-ending. I mean, it’s a great world for a game, since “God-level” conflicts will always arise, and heroes are needed to end the threat of that current cycle, but from an outside perspective, it’d be super depressing to live in this world.”

New Baldur’s Gate 3 endings have players divided – Dexerto
New Baldur’s Gate 3 endings have players divided Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is heavily split on the upcoming endings being added to the game, debating if it’s deserved or not. Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting a batch of new endings, focused on the providing more content for players who choose to be live a life of evil in the game. However, there are a lot of fans who are let down by this, and are wanting the content to be more about the characters and companions. Now, the community is split as many others feel that players are just asking for their favorite characters to get more content, rather than what’s best for the game. On the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, a player made a post complaining that they were hoping for more story given to the characters of Karlach and Wyll, with Karlach getting a special amount of attention. As the ending stands, Karlach does not cure the time bomb inside of her, which is the focus of her character arc. However, she is told that there is a cure that she can go find, though we are never shown it. This is enough according to other Baldur’s Gate 3 users: “She has hope, a plan for a forge and a new adventure. She is no longer waiting to die. Do you need a ten minute cutscene of her getting heart surgery and adopting five kids before you accept she’s going to live?” In response to the post, many are coming out in defense of the endings that are coming, saying that there is not a lot of content for evil playthroughs compared to other types of playstyles. “Evil run needs more endings, this is a good thing. Karlach’s got the closure she needed… and I’m saying this as a Karlach simp.” They believe that these fans are acting spoiled, especially after Karlach did get some more content when the devs added an epilogue to the game a couple of months after release. Of course, every player is going to want to spend more time with their favorite characters, but it seems that some players have made peace with what they’ve been given.

New Baldur’s Gate 3 ending coming in Patch 7 is most diabolical yet – Dexerto
New Baldur’s Gate 3 ending coming in Patch 7 is most diabolical yet Larian StudiosLarian Studios has just teased a new evil ending that’ll be coming in Patch 7, and many players are already dubbing it as “The Matrix ending.” In March 2024, Larian Studios confirmed that additional “really evil endings” for Baldur’s Gate 3 were in the works. And now, as we approach the release window of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 7, players can finally catch a glimpse of what they can expect in the upcoming update, thanks to a newly uploaded 32-second teaser of an evil ending. The clip begins with what appears to be tadpole’d citizens being grouped together, writhing in agony. The camera then zooms in closer to one of them, showing that they eventually ended up shifting into a completely different world, where everything seemed… surprisingly peaceful. There is no chaos, no pain – just pure contentment as people carry on with their seemingly ‘happy’ lives. Of course, knowing how the infected mind works, none of that is real – just a mere illusion. At the end of the clip, a whistle of the game’s Down by the River song echoes, adding to a more eerie effect. Looking at an earlier teaser of one of the new evil endings, however, we can see the default Dark Urge standing before the kneeling crowd and snapping their fingers before the opening sequence of this clip. Following the reveal, players in a Reddit thread are already hyped, and many of them referred to this as the “Matrix ending.” Some even pointed out how it’s similar to a particular part of Naruto Shippuden. One user wrote: “It reminds me of the Matrix. Looks like everyone’s being mind-controlled into thinking they’re in a ‘perfect’ world. I’m guessing this is one of the less evil endings. I.e. you want control and power, not fear or death etc.” “Big fan of this concept whenever it pops up in fiction and the usage of the musical refrain in the whistle was A+,” commented one user. “Infinite Tsukuyomi goes crazy,” one chimed in, referring to a genjutsu in Naruto Shippuden that allows the user to trap living things within the world in an alternate dimension or an illusion.

MTG’s Baldur’s Gate 3 crossover already has a hot vampire infinite combo – Dexerto
MTG’s Baldur’s Gate 3 crossover already has a hot vampire infinite combo Wizards of the Coast/Larian StudiosOne of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most popular characters is starring in several Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair cards, including two that can pull off an infamous infinite combo, assuming you have the resources to get them on the field. D&D characters have appeared in several MTG crossovers, including those from Baldur’s Gate 3, even before the game officially launched. This means you can have Tav’s companions as enemies in your deck, including as a Commander. The next Baldur’s Gate 3 crossover with MTG involves five Secret Lairs, two of which include Astarion and Karlach. A post on the MagicTCG Reddit has discussed some of Astarion’s cards, which include two alt-art versions of Enchantments that can pull off an infinite combo. Astation’s Secret Lair has new versions of Exquisite Blood (with art showing him feeding on Shadowheart), and Sanguine Bond (where he feeds on Wyll.) These powerful Enchantments cost 5 mana a piece, and if you get both of them on the field, they can instantly win the game. This is because Exquisite Blood gives you life whenever an opponent loses life, and Sanguine Blood damages the opponent whenever you gain life. If they’re on the field and you do a single point of damage, you’ve won, as both effects will bounce off each other, winning you the match. Some cards can screw with the combo; as one user pointed out, “Not only is it an infinite, but if someone has a card that prevents them from losing from loss of life (ie, Platinum Angel or Angel’s Grace) results in a draw because the triggers will trigger off each other endlessly.” Astarion, the Decedent, also has powers that emulate both effects. However, the problem is that they only activate once at the end step, so he can’t pull off half the combo on his own. Naturally, fans are also pleased with Astarion’s Fabio-style pose in his cards, which, combined with how difficult it can be to pull Secret Lair cards, means he will likely be very difficult to acquire – even without his combo thirst-quenching Enchantments.

Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players still haven’t finished a single playthrough – Dexerto
Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players still haven’t finished a single playthrough Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has celebrated its first anniversary, achieving unprecedented acclaim and millions of sales. Despite this, plenty of people have never seen any of the game’s endings and are still wandering around the Forgotten Realms. It’s common for interest in a video game to die down after a few months if not weeks. This is par for the course for single-player games, while it means death for live-service and multiplayer titles. Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t seen a slowdown in interest despite being around for a year. If anything, the fandom has only grown more rabid, tearing the game apart for secrets and experimenting with all kinds of unusual character builds. Despite the game’s overwhelming popularity, a surprising number of players have never actually completed Baldur’s Gate 3. A thread on the BG3 Reddit discusses that only 22.2% of Steam players have finished the story. “I have friends who have played 10 playthroughs…..to Act II,” one user wrote, while another said, “I hear a lot of folks also get stuck on the character creation level.” The length of the final Act also has something to do with it. “Yeah, I was surprised by this but also not;” one player explained, “Act III is a beast and I always end up abandoning a playthrough then and starting a new one. That said, it does feel good to finish the entire game at least once!” “I’m literally at the last battle but I can’t bring up the courage to actually finish my game yet,” one player lamented, “I feel like it’s ending and that hurts my feelings.” It’s not just the ending that lots of players haven’t seen, as nearly 10% of people haven’t even escaped the Nautiloid. Some people just can’t bring themselves to finish building a character. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game, one that involves a huge time investment to complete. The reason the low completion number is surprising is due to how dedicated the fans are to the game’s characters and stories, despite never experiencing the whole thing for themselves. Then again, maybe it’s just Act I and II they’re in love with. The city of Baldur’s Gate has a way of causing people to lose themselves on its streets, to the point where fans would rather hit the “New Game” button than make it to the credits.

Monks receive surprising buffs in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 – Dexerto
Monks receive surprising buffs in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Larian StudiosPatch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally live on PC and it has brought some surprising changes to the Monk class, giving it a few buffs by fixing things that were broken. The Monk is considered one of the most OP classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially the Way of the Open Hand subclass, which lets you batter your opponents while inflicting status effects. If you want to attempt Honor Mode, this is the class to do it with. While the Monk isn’t the most interesting class in the game, it has its fans, and they just received some pleasant news. The notes for Patch 7 on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website are finally live, as it’s available on PC (with a console release coming later), and some Monk abilities have been changed in the update. Baldur’s Gate 3 Monk bugfixes have buffed the class The biggest update involves the Monk’s Deflect Missiles power, which they get at level 3. This can potentially allow them to throw a projectile back at an enemy, but they had a tendency to hit obstacles on the way back. This has been fixed in Patch 7. The Clench of the North Wind spell used by Way of the Four Elements Monks now works as intended, as it can target multiple enemies at level 9. The spell was previously bugged, only allowing Monks to hit one person. Way of the Shadow Monks also received a fix. The Shadow Step power now provides Advantage that works with the Rogue Sneak Attack power. This is more situational but is useful for stealth multiclass builds. These changes provide some much-needed fixes for the Monk class. The late addition of the class to the game likely contributed to it not being as refined as other options, but with Patch 7 bringing the last big content update to the game, the Monk can finally fight without fear of glitches hampering its powers.

Mizora bug leaves Baldur’s Gate 3 players unable to progress Wyll’s questline – Dexerto
Mizora bug leaves Baldur’s Gate 3 players unable to progress Wyll’s questline Larian StudiosThe arrival of Patch #3 for Baldur’s Gate brought significant changes, including Mac compatibility and the Magic Mirror. Unfortunately, players have also discovered it has introduced a Mizora bug that makes completing the Wyll questline impossible. Specifically, the issue comes when talking to Mizora at Wyrm’s Rock. She continues to instruct players to talk to Gortash at his coronation ceremony, even when they have already done so. A user on the Steam forums was the first to flag the bug, saying: “Since the last patch, when I talk to Mizora at Wyrm’s Rock (with Wyll in my team), she says that I need to talk to Gortash first. After talking to Gortash (accepting/refusing his deal) when I went back to Mizora, she still said to me that I needed to talk to Gorstash. I tried to sleep, walk away so that she teleport next to the city entrance, different dialogue with Gortash but she kept telling me the same thing.” Rolling back Patch #3 reportedly fixes the issue It looks as though a temporary fix for the problem has been found. Simply moving the patch and hotfix file out of the game directory before completing the section should work. The patch can then be brought back after completing the dialogue options to re-enable features like The Magic Mirror. The enormous scale of the update has also led to further bugs in many areas of the game. Gale is far more difficult to romance and will be frosty, even to players with a high approval rating. Additional issues with spells and doors not functioning properly are also widespread. Larian Studios has an excellent track record of addressing issues quickly thus far. Though there is no date for Patch #4 at this juncture, previous evidence suggests it should arrive soon, likely addressing these issues in the process.

Minthara’s treatment of Gale in Baldur’s Gate 3 is shocking but fans can’t get enough – Dexerto
Minthara’s treatment of Gale in Baldur’s Gate 3 is shocking but fans can’t get enough Larian StudiosMinthara has an interaction with Gale in Baldur’s Gate 3 and it is quite shocking. However, fans cannot get enough of it as it showcases the character of Minthara and makes complete sense of how she behaves like that. The discussion was initiated by a Reddit user who posted a screenshot of the conversation between Minthara and Gale. In this, Minthara says that Gale should have been killed at birth. The players said to this, “For what purpose. He did not deserve that.” Several Reddit users joined the conversation as they had an explanation of why Minthara behaves this way when interacting with Gale. One such user commented, “Honestly love this exchange just for the glimpse into the drow. And Minthara is Baenre. They’re rhe first house for a reason.” Another player chimed in, “In Minthara’s case, she despises wizards, and Gale happens to be one. She’s unique in that you can prompt her to trash talk everyone at camp one at a time. She doesn’t hold back.” A different player stated, “Gale is two things that combined are extremely sus and despised in Menztho… Menyzo… Mintharas home city: Male and a wizard.” Finally, one of the users mentioned, “Minthy ain’t taking no prisoners, she’s written to be a classic 80’s villain, brutal, pure mayhem.” Though players love the conversation, it is understandable why Minthara treats Gale with an aggressive tone in the game. Minthara belongs to a race that does not like Male Wizards as they are viewed as dangerous in their community. Therefore, she simply follows the tradition when it comes to Gale.

“Massively OP” Baldur’s Gate 3 ability makes sacrificing your looks worth it – Dexerto
“Massively OP” Baldur’s Gate 3 ability makes sacrificing your looks worth it Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 “OP” ability is worth sacrificing your looks for as it makes fights easier according to players. There’s one point in Baldur’s Gate 3 where you’ll be given a hard choice after seeing The Emperor’s true form. Embrace your Illithid powers by taking the Astral-Touched tadpole, or refuse it entirely. The Emperor encourages you to take it and tells you it’ll give you immense powers. While it’s true you’ll get to unlock more advanced Illithid powers, it comes with a great cost. Taking the Astral-Touched tadpole means you’ll be transformed into a half Illithid, forever altering your Tav’s appearance for the rest of your run. Hence, it’s clear not everyone in the community is a fan of this choice. However, some players in a Reddit thread claimed that sacrificing one’s looks in the game is worth it due to this “OP” Illithid ability: the Black Hole. For the uninitiated, the Black Hole allows you to create a black hole that will pull nearby enemies, possibly slowing them. This makes it such a great ability when combined with other spells in the game, especially if you’re going for that clean wipe. “So I’m finishing Act 3 with my second character, and I can’t believe I didn’t realize sooner how massively OP the mindflayer’s Black Hole ability is,” said one user. “You can use it at least twice, and it’s helped me wreck some fights that I’ve previously struggled with (High Hall and Emperor).” Many other players in the comments agreed with the user, some suggesting some of their favorite combos to use with the Black Hole. One user wrote: “That spell is one of the reasons I like getting the perk from the Zaith’isk chair that lets you cast the Illithid powers as a bonus action. Black Hole followed by Hunger of Hadar is my favorite combo.” Another user claimed this ability made the Viconia fight in the House of Grief “way easier.” They mentioned. “And that fight is a serious pain in the a** otherwise with all of the darkness casts and such.” Meanwhile, one user said they use this ability in their current Storm Sorcerer run. “I have one character use it, drawing all enemies into one spot, and then I hit them with four call lightning hits (if I have the sorcerer points, three otherwise). It is really effective.” All in all, if you’re playing an Honor Mode run and don’t mind getting a slight change in your appearance, taking the tadpole to get access to Black Hole can be worth it. Though using a mod is also an option if you still want to keep your Tav’s original look but have access to the Illithid powers.

Massive Baldur’s Gate 3 mod adds 50+ D&D, FFXIV races – Dexerto
Massive Baldur’s Gate 3 mod adds 50+ D&D, FFXIV races Nexus Mods: DungeonsAndSouls, Larian StudiosA modder has added dozens of missing Dungeons & Dragons races to Baldur’s Gate 3, along with some from third-party materials and Final Fantasy XIV. Baldur’s Gate 3 gives players many ways to craft the Dungeons & Dragons characters of their dreams. From races and classes to plenty of feats and loot, players have the tools to build whoever they want to be, whether that’s a suave Bard or a ridiculously OP mage. However, there are plenty of D&D Fifth Edition races that are not available in the game. Those disappointed that they can’t play as an astral elf or kobold will have to turn to Baldur’s Gate 3 mods to live out their dreams, and one in particular adds over 50 more options from D&D and beyond. Baldur’s Gate 3 Fantastical Multiverse mod adds more fantasy races Made by Nexus Mods user Dungeons and Souls, the Fantastical Multiverse mod adds 54 more fantasy races to Baldur’s Gate 3. These include kobolds, goliaths, genasi, and new subraces for elves, half-elves, tieflings, and dragonborn. Most of these come from official D&D materials, though five are from Ghostfire Gaming’s 5e compatible Grim Hollow setting, eight from Dungeons & Souls’ own homebrew material, and four from Final Fantasy XIV. Originally released in 2021 during early access, Fantastical Multiverse has been updated for Baldur’s Gate 3’s full release. The modder also plans to add more options from 5e, Pathfinder, and more. With a mod like this and a game as huge as Baldur’s Gate 3, there are bound to be some bugs. Thankfully, Dungeons and Souls seems dedicated to smoothing the mod out as much as possible, replying to lots of Nexus Mods comments promising to fix issues users have encountered or explaining why some things will be much harder to address. All in all, this mod greatly expands the number of racial options in Baldur’s Gate 3, which largely sticks to what’s available in the Player’s Handbook rather than branching out to 5e’s many other sourcebooks and expansions. Character creation is such a hugely important part of D&D and Baldur’s Gate 3, so empowering players to create even more unique characters only enriches the experience.

Major Baldur’s Gate 3 villain spots player’s surprise round attempt in funniest way – Dexerto
Major Baldur’s Gate 3 villain spots player’s surprise round attempt in funniest way Larian StudiosOne major villain has destroyed one fan’s surprise attempt and players just can’t get over how funny his discovery was. Throughout the first and second acts of Baldur’s Gate 3, Ketheric Thorm is among one of the most infamous villains you’ll need to battle. However, there can be times when the deadly enemy’s intimidation is completely destroyed, all because of one simple barrel. Shared to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, one user posted a hilarious photo of Ketheric after their party was spotted while setting up for the final battle with the villain. The image in question shows a rather shocked Ketheric who’s now standing inside a barrel. While Ketheric spotting the player wasn’t ideal, the community were more interested in how funny he looked and how creepy he was just standing there staring at the party. “How to make a serious boss look a lot less serious” commented one user, while another exclaimed that they “weren’t expecting whack-a-Ketheric” to appear on their Reddit. “Whack-a-Ketheric” wasn’t the only clever pun to come out of the screenshot, with many joking that he was a “Pop-Up Paladin” in an homage to the classic old game, Pop-Up Pirate. Another makes an incredible Isobel pun: “Forgive me Isobarrel.” As echoed by the community, it’s hilarious moments like these that keep Baldur’s Gate 3 in the memory of thousands, although it’s sure to be a position Ketheric will be eager to forget.

Major Baldur’s Gate 3 record set to be broken by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Dexerto
Major Baldur’s Gate 3 record set to be broken by Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Larian Studios/Warhorse StudiosKingdom Come: Deliverance 2 looks poised to break one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s more interesting records. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a truly massive game with a plethora of characters to meet, companions to romance, and choices to make. As a result, it’s got a pretty hefty script. In a pre-release community update on Steam, developer Larian Studios touted the “roughly 2,000,000 words” that comprised the game’s dialogue. This meant that Baldur’s Gate 3 held the record for the longest video game script of all time to this point. It will only hold that record for a little longer, however. Creative Director of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Dan Vávra revealed the script size for the upcoming RPG via a post on X and it’s an absolute mammoth. “Yesterday, we were counting with our lead designer Prokop Jirsa, how much we actually wrote for KCD2. So guess how big the script is?” Vávra asked his followers. “2,200,000 words,” he then revealed. Some quick math offered by Vávra himself gave some equivalencies for other mediums. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s chunky script equates to 11,000 typical screenwriting pages, 100 scripts for a typical two-hour movie, or roughly 25 average novels according to the Creative Director. It’s been a rough time for Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of records set by the game. It’s been bumped down Steam’s all-time concurrent player charts thanks to the meteoric success of games like Palworld and Black Myth: Wukong. Now it looks set to lose its longest script record when Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launches on February 11, 2025. This shouldn’t be bad news for fans of the game, however. If Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s script size is anything to go off, we should be getting a similarly vast RPG to sink our teeth into.

Mad Baldur’s Gate 3 fan creates “Shartarion” and it’s the stuff of nightmares – Dexerto
Mad Baldur’s Gate 3 fan creates “Shartarion” and it’s the stuff of nightmares Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player has gone too far this time and revealed a nightmarish fusion of Shadowheart and Astarion. The creativity of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community knows no bounds, but maybe it should. In what might be the most-cursed thing we’ve seen since somebody turned every character in the game into Nicolas Cage, another fan of the game has produced “Shartarion”. Reddit user u/MiracetteNytten unleashed this utter abomination on the Baldur’s Gate 3 fandom to some pretty justified horror. It’s not the first time they’ve done it either. Shartarion is the sequel to an equally unsettling fusion of Lae’zel and Karlach called “Kar’zel”. We’re not being hyperbolic when we call these things nightmare fuel either. The overwhelming sentiment amongst those unfortunate enough to be exposed was that this is a bad day to have eyes. Anyway, here’s a picture. Users in the thread spent their time between sessions of shuddering uncontrollably to argue exactly who Shartarion looked like. The two front runners in this celebrity doppelganger debate were Quentin Tarantino and Nathan Fillion. Honestly, debates can be made for both but one thing is abundantly clear, these two things don’t go together. “This thing is absolutely hideous and someone needs to put an end to it,” one user said. “Kill it with fire,” another suggested. Outside of the controversy around exactly who Shartarion looked like, not like Shadowheart or Astareion by the way, there were also concerns around whether or not u/MiracetteNytten had used an appropriate naming convention. While Shadowheart is colloquially referred to as Shart by fans, calling this latest abomination Shartarion does buck the trend began by Kar’zel. “It should be either Assheart or Shatarion,” one user corrected. We’ll let you guess which was more popular.

Level 9 pigeon proves Baldur’s Gate 3 thinks of everything – Dexerto
Level 9 pigeon proves Baldur’s Gate 3 thinks of everything Larian StudiosIt’s well known that Baldur’s Gate 3 has some crazy attention to detail, but many don’t realize how far that goes. In fact, the detail runs so deep that even some of the wildlife have epic backstories and higher levels to boot. Whether it’s an unsuspecting frog near Auntie Ethel’s house, a cat that had the community up in arms, or creatures scuttling around the Grove, no animal has simply been placed into Baldur’s Gate 3. They’re all there for a reason, and chatting with them can provide some hilarious interactions, or even prepare you before you needlessly attack them. Cats and frogs aside, one animal has shocked and impressed the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, with fans praising the game’s attention to detail towards one legendary Pigeon. Sharing the critter on the BG3 Reddit, some were initially baffled to see a simple Pigeon that had managed to reach level 9. However, while baffling, there’s a simple explanation for its unanticipated level of power – this bird is an experienced carrier pigeon who’s completed so many tasks that he’s leveled up multiple times. If players use Speak with Animals they’ll discover that the simple bird is actually Commander Lightfeather, a decorated carrier pigeon who likely gained all that XP by delivering mail during dangerous battles. Therefore proving his worth and bravery to the players, which certainly shows why the creature is such a high level. While it’s certainly not something many think about every day, if PCs can level up through dangerous tasks, why shouldn’t a brave bird? Most high-level animals typically highlight something more sinister (like the Addled Frog) or a Druid in Wild Shape, but Commander Lightfeather has managed to reach this level without any spells or curses, just pure determination. It just goes to show how detailed the NPCs and critters are in Baldur’s Gate 3, and that even mailmen or carrier pigeons can reach greatness through completing their daily tasks.

Larian walking aways from Baldur’s Gate 4 presents an amazing opportunity – Dexerto
Larian walking aways from Baldur’s Gate 4 presents an amazing opportunity Wizards of the CoastBaldur’s Gate 3 fans have been left wanting more after developer Larian Studios confirmed the game won’t receive any DLC or significant content updates outside of a few more “evil endings” – presenting an amazing opportunity for the next D&D game. Larian has confirmed that it won’t be working on Baldur’s Gate 4 or anything D&D-related, with the company parting with Wizards of the Coast on more than amicable terms. While the D&D owners would have been happy with more Baldur’s Gate 3 content, they can at least be satisfied with the game’s incredible profit, acclaim, and all the positive attention it brought to the franchise. But what comes next? Hasbro has already been tapping different companies for more D&D games, but so far, we haven’t heard about any epic RPGs in the same vein as Baldur’s Gate 3. As far as I’m concerned, there’s a clear frontrunner for the studio that should make the next big D&D game, and it’s one that made the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate 2. Owlcat Games should make the next D&D game Owlcat Games is the studio behind epic RPGs based on some of D&D’s biggest competitors, namely, Pathfinder and Warhammer 40k. To date, Owlcat has released Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. In a roundabout way, Owlcat has already made D&D games, as Pathfinder 1e is a modified version of the D&D 3.5 ruleset. With that in mind, making the jump to 5e wouldn’t be a big deal, as it shares a lot of DNA with the 3.5 rules. More importantly, Wrath of the Righteous has proven that Owlcat can make epic titles with loveable characters and sweeping stories filled with choices that resonate throughout the game. The sheer number of character creation options, coupled with the Mythic paths and how they influence the story, lead to an experience that’s just as replayable as Baldur’s Gate 3, if not more so, which is also true of the relationships you can have with the party members. While Baldur’s Gate 3 was better at handling its characters and party dynamics, Wrath of the Righteous was a far grander experience. It told a story of war and demonic invasion across a country, with the player wielding epic powers as they led a crusade against a demonic army. Now that Baldur’s Gate 3 has paved the way for more narrative-driven stories in the D&D multiverse, Owlcat — with the backing of Hasbro — could follow in Larian’s footsteps, giving more focus to the story & personalities of the individual party members than its previous titles. But a carbon copy of Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t work, as it’s just going to be unfairly compared to its predecessor. A new approach needs to be taken, and what better way than to step away from D&D’s most popular setting? Owlcat’s D&D game should leave behind the Forgotten Realms and use Dragonlance as its setting In 2022, Wizards of the Coast revived one of its classic settings that had been ignored for decades: Dragonlance. This setting returned as part of a campaign called Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen, which launched alongside a board game that brought mass battle rules to D&D, called Warriors of Krynn. Dragonlance received a few video game adaptations in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, but it has since been ignored. This is because most D&D games use the Forgotten Realms setting, as it’s the most popular with fans. Dragonlance is an ideal fit for a video game, as it’s the D&D setting most centered around war and conflict with the forces of evil. Throughout the setting’s history, Takhisis (the evil goddess of dragons) has repeatedly tried to take over the world, leading to massive conflicts between nations and her forces. The War of the Lance era of Dragonlance is the most well-known, as it’s when the popular novels from the franchise were set. This era would be perfect for a video game, being set during a time when the good/neutral gods have returned to the world after centuries of silence, and dragons that were once thought to be legends are suddenly soaring through the skies. Not only does the War of the Lance have tons of unique opportunities for storytelling that you don’t see in many D&D games, but it can also include the beloved characters from the Dragonlance novels, like Tanis, Raistlin, and Tasslehoff Burrfoot, even if they’re just brief cameos. A Dragonlance game is also a great choice for a mass-battle system. It involves huge wars between the forces of good and evil, which is something Owlcat already proved they could handle with Wrath of the Righteous. Owlcat’s Pathfinder games were adaptations of existing campaigns, and a Dragonlance title could easily adapt Shadow of the Dragon Queen to video game form. There’s a lot more scope to expand that story and create a D&D game that goes all the way to level 20, something Baldur’s Gate 3 never accomplished. An epic RPG is the natural next step for the D&D video game series and there are likely many studios eager to take a shot at adapting such a beloved license, especially after what Larian accomplished with Baldur’s Gate 3. If Hasbro wants a game on the same scale as Baldur’s Gate 3, then it should look to the company that makes similar incredible RPGs and give them the keys to the D&D multiverse.

Larian tackles Xbox save issues with Baldur’s Gate 3 workaround – Dexerto
Larian tackles Xbox save issues with Baldur’s Gate 3 workaround Larian StudiosLarian Studios has developed a workaround for Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox save problems but a permanent fix has yet to be found for the problem. Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of 2023’s most popular games, selling over 5 million copies for PC and Playstation 5, and nabbing the top trophy at last year’s Game Awards. However, players of the Xbox port of the game, which released in early December last year, haven’t enjoyed the same seamless game play experience as players on other platforms have. Troubles with the cloud save functionality on Xbox, caused by a firmware bug, have frustrated players, so Larian have stepped up to try and find solutions. They recently posted a workaround to Twitter, outlining a way for players to use Larian’s own cross-save system to circumvent the problem until a permanent fix can be found. While this isn’t a genuine fix, Larian have promised to make their cross-save “process more fluid and extend the number of save games that get uploaded in the coming days.” Baldur’s Gate 3 is the latest in a string of games on the Xbox hit by this cloud save issue, and they’ve applied fixes for various titles affected by the bug previously. While Larian have said Microsoft are aware of the issue and working on the solution, they also warned the holiday season meant teams were working at “lower capacity” so players may have to wait “a while before a proper fix becomes available.” In the meantime, Xbox players will just have to rely on the workaround to solve their cloud save woes.

Larian Studios offers a temporary fix for Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 crash issue – Dexerto
Larian Studios offers a temporary fix for Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 crash issue Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is crashing on PS5 due to an apparent PlayStation Network error. Larian Studios has given PS5 players a temporary fix while they work on a solution. Baldur’s Gate 3 launched on PS5 on September 6 and despite some issues with framerates during split-screen play, it’s been relatively smooth sailing. Despite speculations that the port was in trouble, the PS5 has boasted some impressive performance with Baldur’s Gate 3. However, that record has been smudged and many players on the platform are experiencing crashing while they play. The PS5 crashes began occurring on September 19 and Larian Studios has given some answers. Responding to the issue on their Twitter account, Larian has explained that Baldur’s Gate 3’s PS5 crash issue appears to be with the PlayStation Network. They’ve advised players to disconnect from the internet while playing the game until the problem is fixed. Initially, the crashes and subsequent failure to reload had players convinced there was an issue with their save files. Fortunately, disconnecting from the internet appears to be solving the problem for most players. Unfortunately for those running multiplayer campaigns, they’re locked to single-player for the time being. Splitscreen also appears to have some issues with invites not working while disconnected. Larian announced that they were “investigating the problem” so hopefully a more permanent fix is on the way. Given the issue is with the PlayStation Network, it appears there’s not a lot they can do from their end. That hasn’t stopped expletive-fueled demands that they resolve the issue of course. Luckily some players were kind enough to thank them for the timely response. “Just started having the issues right now, and I come to check and it’s one minute ago, that was the fastest response over ever seen,” one user said in praise of Larian. No official acknowledgment of the problem has come from PlayStation as of yet. Because of this, it’s uncertain whether they’ll announce a fix when it occurs. Given that Larian has kept players updated on the Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 crash issue so far, it’s likely they’ll announce when the issue is resolved.

Larian Studios eyeing Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC plans but not anytime soon: “We want to do more” – Dexerto
Larian Studios eyeing Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC plans but not anytime soon: “We want to do more” Larian StudiosFollowing Baldur’s Gate 3’s historic success in 2023, developers at Larian Studios are eager to “do more” with the game through possible DLC, but fans shouldn’t expect to see any new content in the near future. Baldur’s Gate 3 is absolutely massive, in every sense of the word. From its record-breaking debut on Steam to its unprecedented climb on Metacritic, the RPG has become an instant classic, with millions adoring its attention to detail. Not only has it been a massive critical and commercial success, but, the game itself is quite literally massive. With multiple Acts each filled to the brim with dozens of hours of content, few players have actually rolled credits yet, let alone explored other possibilities with new classes. Even with the game’s sheer size, that hasn’t stopped the community from questioning what’s on the horizon. While DLC of any form has been a mystery until now, devs have implied they’re eager to “do more” with the game, but that it won’t be anytime soon. Amid a stream of news pouring out of Gamescom 2023, including the fact Baldur’s Gate 3 is now going ahead with its Xbox launch, Senior Product Manager Tom Butler teased the possibility of DLC in a conversation with IGN. For the immediate future, the dev team is set on “patching for a while” before they all “take a holiday.” A well-earned break at that. It’s only after their return that the future of the Baldur’s Gate franchise will start to take shape. Whether that’s a full-fledged sequel, DLC in the interim, or perhaps both, we’ll all just have to wait and see “what [they] do next.” But Butler made one thing clear: “We want to do more.” So players can rest assured the franchise isn’t going anywhere. But given devs are yet unclear on plans for the future, it’d be best not to hold your breath on any sizeable DLC arriving anytime soon. While Larian Studios is indeed having early “discussions” and they are eager to continue forward, “[they] don’t know what” it may look like just yet. Devs have previously gone on record to outline the difficulties of adding more to the existing game, suggesting that even so much as raising BG3’s level cap would introduce a range of new design challenges for the team. If that were to happen, Larian Studios would possibly pivot to “an expansion” sized content drop given the “development effort” required. But obviously, that’s purely hypothetical for now with no concrete plans locked in. We’ll all just have to wait and see what the future of Baldur’s Gate 3 looks like, but rest assured the devs want to see it continue just as much as fans.

Larian Studios confirm photo mode is “on the list” for Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
Larian Studios confirm photo mode is “on the list” for Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosA director at Larian Studios has confirmed that a dedicated photo made for Baldur’s Gate 3 is “on the list” of things to add to the game. The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the prettiest we’ve seen in a while, and fans have been looking for a way to capture it in detail since the game launched. Unfortunately, Baldur’s Gate didn’t have a feature like this on launch, which isn’t that rare for an isometric RPG. However, The team at Larian Studios has consistently updated the game since it launched with new quality-of-life features, and players have held out hope that a photo mode could drop at some point in the future. Best of all, Larian’s Director of Publishing has suggested that a photo mode is in the works, and given their previous record on delivering new features, this is a very good sign for those players who want to take extreme close-ups of Astarion’s Fangs. Baldur’s Gate 3 dev says photo mode could be coming soon On Twitter, Larian Studios publishing director Michael Douse discussed upcoming performance features that were coming to Baldur’s Gate 3, and he was asked by a player about the possibility of a photo mode being added to the game. The player said: “You know, there are a lot of people in the virtual photography community asking you guys to add photo mode in Baldur’s Gate 3.” Douse replied to the comment by saying: “It’s on the list.” Larian Studios has a history of quickly adding highly requested features to Baldur’s Gate 3. The Magic Mirror feature was added in Patch 3 after players felt they needed a way to change character appearances from camp without restarting the entire game. Obviously, a photo mode would be one of the more complex features Larian would add to the game, but they’ve shown they’re committed to consistently improving the game, so it might be just a matter of time. For more news and updates on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out how this player managed to find a hidden Pokemon reference in one of those books you never read.

Larian Studios CEO confident about company’s future beyond Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
Larian Studios CEO confident about company’s future beyond Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian Studios/Wizards of the CoastLarian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has said that the strategy shift away from Baldur’s Gate in the company’s future was “the right thing for Larian.” The news that Larian Studios will not be making any additional games or content within the Baldur’s Gate franchise was met with general dismay from players. Larian was widely praised for their vision and delivery of the RPG, and amassed a significant amount of goodwill from the community as a result. However, it was announced that the Baldur’s Gate IP will return to Wizards of the Coast, while Larian moves onto other projects in the future. Vincke said that the studio is still focused on updating Baldur’s Gate 3, a commitment that has brought consistent new content and bug fixes to the game. On Twitter, Vincke said: “Counter expectations but I’ve never been more sure about a strategy shift. This is the right thing for Larian. “I understand there will be disappointment because people fell in love with what we created but it was a story with a beginning, middle and an end and it doesn’t need more. “The team has grown a lot during Baldur’s Gate 3 and I think you can be very excited for what that growth means for our next game.” While many players were disappointed by the news, some were more neutral on it, and called on the community to see the brighter side. One player on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit told others to “stop doomposting”, saying: “They will make other games, and they will probably be good, because people at Larian have good heads on their shoulders. “Baldu’s Gate 3 isn’t good because it’s a DnD property, it’s good because of Larian. Literally the best lesson about art I learned watching movies throughout my life is to completely disregard the franchise of the movie and look at who’s directing it.”

Larian Studios breaks silence on Baldur’s Gate 3 “cut content” controversy with new roadmap – Dexerto
Larian Studios breaks silence on Baldur’s Gate 3 “cut content” controversy with new roadmap Larian StudiosLarian Studios has come forward to address the “cut content“ controversy surrounding Baldur’s Gate 3 since its August launch. Baldur’s Gate 3 has garnered critical acclaim with a Metacritic score of 96 but has also faced its fair share of criticism in recent weeks. Players have been particularly vocal about the game’s third act, which has been marred by performance issues and bugs. Data miners have also unearthed elements that appear to have been removed, sparking debates about the game’s completeness. In a recent community update, Larian Studios didn’t just acknowledge these concerns; they laid out a comprehensive roadmap that promises not just fixes but significant enhancements too. The term “cut content” has become a catchphrase for a variety of issues players have with the game, from incomplete story arcs involving characters like Karlach and Minthara to entire inaccessible areas like the Upper City of Baldur’s Gate. Larian Studios categorized these concerns into three main pillars: Performance, Bugs, and User Experience (UX). However, the studio revealed that some issues labeled as “cut content” are actually bugs. For example, certain companion reactions to world events were not triggering as intended, leading players to believe these were deliberate omissions. Larian assures that these are glitches they are actively working to rectify. Performance, especially in Act 3, has been another sore point. Larian’s upcoming Patch 2 promises to bring sweeping performance improvements across the board, with a particular focus on Act 3. This is a welcome development for players who felt the game’s later stages lacked the polish of its earlier acts. Larian Studios also took the opportunity to clarify that not all content discovered through data mining was meant to be in the final product. “What’s been datamined is not really cut content but content that we didn’t want to release because we didn’t think it worked,” the studio stated. The studio is also responding to player feedback by expanding the epilogues, starting with a new optional ending for Karlach, giving her “the ending she deserves.” Larian is not just listening but is willing to adapt based on what the community values, and for a game that has received as much love as Baldur’s Gate 3, this is no small feat.

Larian lets you stay on Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 to avoid breaking mods – Dexerto
Larian lets you stay on Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 to avoid breaking mods Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players who use mods and cross-saves don’t have to worry about Patch 7 breaking their game as there’s a way to stay on Patch 6. Baldur’s Gate 3’s enormous Patch 7, introducing new evil endings, official mod support, a plethora of bug fixes, and more, has finally arrived on Steam. That said, if you’re playing the game with a ton of mods and cross-saves, you’ll want to hold back from updating your game for now. Much like other games, mods tend to break whenever a new patch arrives. Individual mod creators need to update their own additions to support the latest builds. Fortunately, Larian is aware of these kinds of issues and they’re even letting players stay on Patch 6, as announced via a post on X. “We’ve made a Patch 6 beta branch available for those who want to allow more time for mod authors to update their mods, continue to play on multiplayer with Mac, or keep console cross-saves working!” the devs explained. To stay on Patch 6, you’ll need to follow these steps: Launch Steam. – Head to your Library and right-click Baldur’s Gate 3. – Select Properties. – Select the Betas tab on the left. – In the Beta Participation box, select release_patch6_hf9. – Once you’ve done all these steps, you’ll see that Baldur’s Gate 3’s update will be queued on Steam, but it won’t start updating automatically. It’s also worth knowing that this same method also works as a rollback if you’ve already accidentally updated the game to Patch 7. The official mod support is one of the biggest changes added to the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is already massive to begin with, and this feature adds more replayability with so many additional classes, races, and cosmetics to choose from mods. Mac and console players will have to be patient for now, though. While there’s no exact release date yet, Larian Studios has confirmed via patch notes that Patch 7 will arrive on these platforms in October.

Larian explains how Baldur’s Gate 3 is so big it impacts work on new games – Dexerto
Larian explains how Baldur’s Gate 3 is so big it impacts work on new games Larian StudiosAs Larian gears up for its next big release, the team is struggling to find ideas to make sure players get a new experience after Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite no plans for a DLC or sequel from Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 is already a massive game. With so many dialogue options, quests, routes, and so on, it’s impossible to experience everything in one playthrough. So far, we know Larian has confirmed they’re working on two “very ambitious RPGs.” While fans are hyped to see what they’re cooking next, an interview with PCGamer has revealed that the award-winning studio is faced with a particular challenge following Baldur’s Gate 3’s success. “One of the biggest problems we have now is that whenever we’re talking about things, we say we did that in BG3,” said writing director Adam Smith. “And it turns out, we did a lot of things in BG3 when we think back to it. It’s the classic ‘Simpsons did it’ problem.” For Larian, however, this isn’t a new problem, as a similar issue arose in the past when they were still working on the Divinity Original Sin series and Baldur’s Gate 3. “It was the same during development,” claimed Smith. “Have they already seen this pattern? Have they already used these verbs in this order? Have they already had this emotional arc? So you’re constantly trying to make sure that they’re getting a new experience, and you’re not just repeating yourself, and you’re not just giving them content for the sake of content.” Baldur’s Gate 3 has truly set the bar very high, with the game still having an impressive player count more than a year after release. While not much information about their new titles has been shared, it’ll be interesting to see how development goes as time passes. Luckily for fans, Larian has just set up a brand new “community-focused” YouTube channel to celebrate Baldur’s Gate 3’s anniversary, where they plan to feature “behind the scenes” videos on their “next big thing.”

Larian CEO reveals Baldur’s Gate 3 could have been a Fallout game if WotC deal fell through – Dexerto
Larian CEO reveals Baldur’s Gate 3 could have been a Fallout game if WotC deal fell through DexertoLarian Studios CEO Swen Vincke stated there was “not a lot” to choose from outside Baldur’s Gate 3 when selecting a license to shape the company’s future, claiming he would have gone for the Fallout or Ultima license next of their deal with WotC fell through. Baldur’s Gate 3, a passion project for Larian Studios, took six years to craft before earning the title Game of the Year in 2023. And, while they were able to secure the rights to make a Baldur’s Gate game all the way back in 2017, Wizards of the Coast almost broke off the deal. In an interview with Edge Magazine’s Jeremy Peel, Vincke revealed that their next project could have easily been a Fallout title if they couldn’t hold on to the licensing for a Dungeons & Dragons-style game. They also considered pursuing the Ultima license to build on one of gaming’s most iconic MMO series with a single-player title. “It would have been Ultima, it would have been Fallout, it would have been Baldur’s Gate,” said Vincke. “There was not a lot to choose from.” This quote referred to the potential for Larian to reach the next level. Vincke believed they could achieve this goal, but acknowledged that it would need to secure a deal with a AAA-level franchise to break their “glass ceiling” as a game studio. Vincke recounted how the team locked themselves in a hotel meeting room for an entire weekend to put together a design doc that’d convince WotC that it was worth keeping Larian on the project. Larian’s attempt to put together an intricate design doc last-minute didn’t exactly work out well. “We didn’t have the brainpower to deal with it, because we were trying to do [Divinity: Original Sin 2]. Wizards then sent it back with the corporate equivalent of, ‘This is really sh*t’. And then we said, ‘We know, but we’re releasing a game – don’t ask us to make this now. Give us an extension.’ Luckily they understood, and so we got a second chance,” Vincke explained in the interview with Edge. This second chance would be where Larian knocked it out of the park, securing the license and getting started with Baldur’s Gate 3. Their studio quickly grew over the course of development, ultimately bringing us what is almost universally considered 2023’s Game of the Year. Not much is known about Larian’s next project, except that they won’t be making a DLC or follow-up to Baldur’s Gate 3. Their next game will be something completely different. And with six years in between game releases, it’s likely another year or two before they are comfortable sharing more about their upcoming projects.

Larian celebrates Baldur’s Gate 3 anniversary with new YouTube channel – Dexerto
Larian celebrates Baldur’s Gate 3 anniversary with new YouTube channel Larian StudiosCelebrating Baldur’s Gate 3’s first anniversary, Larian has set up a new “community-focused” YouTube channel to provide videos regarding their “next big thing.” Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian’s adventure strategy RPG, has just turned one. Despite a year since release, the game still has an impressive player count as Larian Studios continues to drop updates about what’s coming next. To commemorate Baldur’s Gate 3 first anniversary, the team has announced a new YouTube channel called Larian: Channel From Hell via a post on X. With a promotional image featuring Lae’zel, Dark Urge, and Wyll, the post mentioned that the channel would be “community-focused.” In the comments, Larian claimed that the channel will “feature regular and never-seen-before videos which will arrive this summer.” Aside from that, they also shared that they’re “working on something you’ll be able to get your hands on soon.” While this has yet to be elaborated further in the post, the channel’s description on YouTube provides some more information on what players can expect from it. “Get your mind blown by Larian: Channel From Hell! From regular streams and shows featuring our development team to patch explainers, unboxing videos, and updates on what we’re currently up to, join us on this brand new adventure, bringing you behind the scenes on our next big thing.” Larian’s “next big thing” is still a mystery for now, but so far, we know that the studio is working on two new, very ambitious RPGs. Additionally, while Larian has made it clear that they’ve stepped away entirely from Dungeons and Dragons and Baldur’s Gate 3, the team is still gearing up to prepare players for Patch 7, which is confirmed to be released in September 2024. This will be a huge content update introducing official mod support for both PC and consoles, new evil endings, bug fixes, and so much more.

Larian boss says Baldur’s Gate 3 has Easter egg for next game – Dexerto
Larian boss says Baldur’s Gate 3 has Easter egg for next game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke revealed the game contains at least one Easter egg for Larian Studios’ unannounced next game, which has players trying to figure out what the hint could be. Vincke, who is also the founder and CEO of Larian, teased the Easter egg in a Future Games Show interview after being asked if there’s anything in Baldur’s Gate 3 that players haven’t found yet. “One of the writers told me that she put something in there that was talking about our next game,” he said. Vincke also revealed that Larian did the same thing with Divinity Original Sin 2, saying “We put in references to BG3 [in DOS2] and nobody found them – at least that I’m aware.” Vincke talks about the tease starting at 4:34 So far, Larian has been tight-lipped on its post-Baldur’s Gate 3 plans. All we know right now is that the studio is working on “two very ambitious RPGs,” neither of which is Baldur’s Gate 4. Unsurprisingly, Baldur’s Gate 3 players reacted to Vincke’s challenge by combing through Baldur’s Gate 3 for hints and looking back at Divinity Original Sin 2 to see the kinds of hints Larian has previously slipped past fans. One Reddit user asked the community if they’d found “any absurd easter eggs that [don’t] make any sense” which could be subtly references to Larian’s next project, calling it “a scavenger hunt [to] find Sven’s clues.” Some (jokingly or otherwise) suggested the game could have something to do with rope or eels, citing the prevalence of the former and a random in-game book called Jake’s Encyclopaedia of Eels. Still, others were more skeptical of the search given how subtle Divinity Original Sin 2’s references to Baldur’s Gate 3 were. An example is the character Tarquin referencing a “mysterious race from another world – beings that feed on minds” called Gustavchen, a nod to the mind flayers and BG3’s codename, Project Gustav. DOS2 also included items called Mind Maggots, which fans think could be a reference to BG3’s illithid tadpoles. This precedent had some doubting that Larian’s hints this time around will be any clearer without context, with one commenter saying, “I would’ve been hard-pressed to understand what those clues meant without BG3 being released.” While it may not get the results players hope for, the search for the Easter egg Vincke teased should help tide Baldur’s Gate 3 players over until Larian is eventually ready to share what it has in store.

Killing one Baldur’s Gate 3 Paladin will all but break your game – Dexerto
Killing one Baldur’s Gate 3 Paladin will all but break your game Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player warned the community after discovering the dire consequences of killing the Oathbreaker Knight. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Paladin class is unique thanks to a subclass you can only access through gameplay. Unlike the rest of the game’s offerings, you can’t make an Oathbreaker Paladin during character creation – after all, you need to take an Oath first before you can break it. Making a choice that goes against the tenets of your Oath will cause a Paladin to lose many of their abilities. At this point, the Oathbreaker Knight will come to your Camp, giving you the option to either restore your Oath or become an Oathbreaker. However, there is one important thing players need to keep in mind when the Oathbreaker Knight is in your Camp. As one Reddit user shared, “if you kill oathbreaker knight he won’t return even though he’s already undead.” The poster goes on to explain that, if the Oathbreaker Knight dies, a Paladin who has broken their Oath will not be able to access the normal options. That means you’ll be stuck for the rest of the game with the Oath Broken condition without crucial Paladin abilities like spells and Smites. In this state, even Withers can’t help you. He will refuse to help respec Oath Broken characters, essentially leaving you with an underpowered build for the rest of the run. On top of that, you won’t even get worthwhile loot to make up for what you’ve lost. The Oathbreaker Knight drops a Greatsword +1, an Elixir of Heroism, and three Javelins; you’ll also be able to get Plate Armour from his body after a long rest. None of these are particularly good or rare items, and combined with the harsh consequences, it’s clear there’s absolutely no good reason for Baldur’s Gate 3 Paladins to kill the Oathbreaker Knight.

Key Baldur’s Gate 3 Gale design flaw leaves players baffled – Dexerto
Key Baldur’s Gate 3 Gale design flaw leaves players baffled Larian StudiosGale is a wizard in Baldur’s Gate 3 which means his background is that of a scholar who spends most of his time reading books. However, Gale has a muscular figure and players are confused by this design choice which almost looks like a flaw. Baldur’s Gate 3 puts in a lot of effort when it comes to developing characters, Each of the companions has a unique personality and they are fleshed out to the point where you need to treat them with care to stay on their good side in the game. However, there is one key flaw that players are unable to ignore which is related to Gale having a muscular body. This is because, being a wizard and a scholar, a muscular body does not suit him since he spends most of his time in the library rather than working out to lift heavy weapons. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans joke about a flaw in Gale’s character design The discussion surrounding Gale’s design was initiated by a Reddit user named JuanDC2006. The user posted a meme with Shadowheart and Gale where the former is asking “Where do you work out?” On that, the latter replies, “At the library.” In addition to that, they also posted that Shadowheart who has 13 strength has no muscles, while Gale who has 8 strength has an excessively muscular body. Other players joined in the conversation as they found it quite intriguing. One such user commented, “Wouldn’t be surprised if he has been casting minor illusion on himself the entire game.” Another user chimed in, “Don’t know how it works in DnD but in the Witcher majority of sorceresses (all the ones I know anyways) use magic to modify their looks.” One user also mentioned, “Those tomes are not gonna carry themselves.” Finally, one of the users claimed, “I’m less upset that Gale has them and more upset that Shadowheart doesn’t have them.” Hence, it is quite clear that players find this quite funny. It is true that Gale having a muscular body makes no sense, especially when he has such low strength. However, a few of them are also confused that Shadowheart who is stronger than Gale is much leaner than him. Therefore, it is a design flaw that the developers did not pay much attention to. However, it is mostly a funny thing and does not have any serious implications to the game as a whole.

It’s obvious why these are the least popular Baldur’s Gate 3 classes – Dexerto
It’s obvious why these are the least popular Baldur’s Gate 3 classes Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a staggering number of character creation options, to the point where you could do drastically different playthroughs for years to come. Unfortunately, some classes are extremely unpopular, and the blame lies at the feet of your beloved party members. While some classes and subclasses in BG3 are stronger than others, you don’t need some overpowered, highly optimized build to finish the game. Just play with what you like, and you should be fine. It’s surprising, then that there’s such a wide division in popularity among the classes, especially as some are beloved options in D&D 5E. However this is because certain characters make select classes almost totally redunant. Clerics, Druids, and Wizards are unpopular thanks to the companions (despite being loved in D&D 5E) According to Larian Studios 1st year anniversary stats for Baldur’s Gate 3, the Cleric is the least popular class in the game. Out of the 12 classes, Cleric is ranked #12, Druid is #10, and Wizard is #8. On the surface, this is a shocking poll, especially with the melee warrior classes being highly ranked. Cleric, Druid, and Wizard are full spellcasters with lots of cool powers that are popular among D&D players, yet they’re losing out to the people who whack enemies with sticks and sharp bits of metal. The answer to this conundrum is simple, though: the game gives you great companions who are deeply connected to the Cleric, Druid, and Wizard class. In fact, the classes are an important part of their identity. As soon as you finish the tutorial, you run into Shadowheart, a Cleric of Shar who can handle all of the healing and buffs you’ll need. Shadowheart’s popularity as both a party member and a romance option means that there’s really no need to play a Cleric, unless you’re going for a Selunite run and want an angry rivalry that turns into a love story. Not long after, you’ll run into Gale, the Wizard of Waterdeep. Gale has a whole story that involves Elminster, the most powerful mage in the Forgotten Realms, ancient magic from the lost arcane Netheril empire, and even Mystra, the goddess of magic. His story is way more wizard-y than whatever your character is up to, so you may as well pick something else. While you don’t get a Druid companion in Act I, you can potentially receive two in Act II. Both Halsin and Jaheira are recruitable, with the former following the Circle of the Moon subclass, and the latter taking the Circle of the Land. There’s really no need to play a Druid when the game is spoiling you for choice. The most popular Baldur’s Gate 3 classes are the ones with limited party representation Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3’s two most popular characters (the Paladin and the Sorcerer) are ones that aren’t tied to popular characters. While Minthara the Paladin has a sizable fanbase among the ‘dommy mommy’ lovers of the world, she’s also tough to unlock in a good alignment playthrough. You really need to metagame to get her, and then RP explain to yourself why you keep an evil Paladin of Lolth the Spider Queen in your party. Minthara is much easier to unlock in an evil playthrough, but as the stats showed, most people went for the good route. Even the mighty Dark Urge was only selected by 15% of the fanbase while the majority ( 93%) went the Custom character route. The fact that Minthara is pretty evil means that those who want a holy Paladin (or just a scumbag but rad Oathbreaker Paladin) will have to do it themselves. Meanwhile, the Sorcerer is the least popular arcane spellcaster in D&D, yet it’s the 2nd most chosen class in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s also the only arcane spellcaster class not linked to a party member, as Gale is a Wizard and Wyll is a Warlock. But what about the Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, and Warlock? There are some outliers to this. The Fighter is the #3 most popular class, Barbarian is #4. Rogue is #5, and Warlock is #6. This is despite Lae’zel being a Fighter, Karlach being a Barbarian, Astarion being a Rogue, and Wyll being a Warlock. However, these classes all share a trait that explains why they’re so popular: they’re the best choices for multiclassing, which is where the best builds in the game can be found. A lot of players dip into Fighter for Action Surge and its proficiencies, Barbarian for Unarmored Defense and its hit points, Rogue for Sneak Attack and Cunning Action, and Warlock for the mighty Eldritch Blast. Notably, the Cleric, Druid, and Wizard are terrible choices for most multiclass builds. The full spellcasting classes work best when you reach max level without dipping, as that’s how you get the strongest spells in the game. It also bears mentioning that the Fighter, once one of the most disliked classes in the history of D&D (due to how boring it was compared to pretty much everything else), is actually the most popular choice in D&D 5E. Sorry, Lae’zel, but you just can’t compete with homegrown Action Surge (maybe she should have tried being a bit nicer). Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you the ideal D&D balanced party (while dissuading you from certain options) Once you’ve escaped the Nautiloid at the start of Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll quickly run into Shadowheart, Gale,, Astarion,, Lae’zel, Wyll, and Karlach. This gives you plenty of options for forming the ideal D&D party, with choices for the meat shield, healer, DPS spellcaster, and trap finder. While you can respec these characters in the camp, it can take a great deal away from their storylines. Shadowheart the Bard isn’t quite as apt as when she’s a Cleric of Shar, and the same is true of Gale the Barbarian. As Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that tempts players to start over with a new character, it’s easy to see what party member options are available to you early on and then boot up a new game with a character with a role not represented by an ally. And this means that the Cleric, Wizard, and Druid, some of D&D’s most beloved classes, are left behind.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 turn-based? – Dexerto
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 turn-based? Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has been developed by Larian Studios, the same developers who created Divinity 2 as well. The latter had turn-based combat which led to several fans asking if it is the same for Baldur’s Gate 3 as well. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a very different game when compared to modern-day RPGs. Larian Studios is quite innovative and they are determined to make sure that their games are detailed upto the very end. The same holds for Baldur’s Gate 3 and it reflects on everything including its combat. Since Divinity 2 had turn-based combat a lot of players walked away from the despite the reviews describing it as a masterpiece. Therefore, with the recent hype of Baldur’s Gate 3, players want to learn if this one has turn-based combat as well before diving into the game. Does Baldur’s Gate 3 have turn-based combat? The question as to whether Baldur’s Gate 3 have turn-based combat is Yes. In this game, every ally and enemy will take turns and during those moments there is nothing you can do. If it is your enemy’s turn, you will have to stand and take a hit. However, there are ways to deal with this. The turn-based combat does not mean you have to launch an attack every turn. You can use your turn to heal or increase your defense. This way you can reduce the damage you take before launching a devastating blow on the enemy. Overall, it involves a lot of thinking about how you approach combat, especially against difficult bosses. This is something that not everyone enjoys as it does take away your freedom in combat. However, others love it as it adds a lot of complexity and depth to the combat of Baldur’s Gate 3 which in turn keeps the game fresh even towards the end-game. This concludes our guide on whether Baldur’s Gate 3 is turn-based or not. If you found it informative, please look into some of our other guides at Dexerto. Is Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS4? Larian StudiosLarian Studios Baldur’s Gate 3 has captivated PC and PS5 players across the globe, but is the game also available on PS4? We’ve got the answer right here. The lack of a PS4 version was initially confirmed by the game’s Executive Producer, David Walgrave, in a 2020 interview with Eurogamer where he cited that the system not being able to run the game smoothly as the main reason for not opting for a PS4 port: “I don’t think that current-gen consoles would be able to run it. There’s a lot of technical upgrades and updates that we did to our engine, and I don’t know if it would be capable of being able to actually run on those things.” Due to this, it’s extremely unlikely that we’ll see Baldur’s Gate 3 make its way to the console in the future so for PlayStation players keen to dive into the Dungeons & Dragons world, the PS5 is your only option. Is Baldur’s Gate 3 getting a hardcore permadeath mode? – Dexerto
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 getting a hardcore permadeath mode? Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have been calling for a more hardcore experience and it seems a permadeath playthrough option is on the way. Here’s everything we know about the hardcore permadeath mode coming to Baldur’s Gate 3. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players immense challenges and a plethora of pitfalls, together with its highly-regarded storytelling and gameplay. Players can customize their experience by selecting one of three difficulty settings that can help to make the game easier or harder depending on their desires. But one “feature” that remains no matter the difficulty setting is the safety net of multiple save slots and the ability to simply reload the game after defeat. However, it seems that could change soon for the hardcore enthusiasts out there who are seeking a more challenging path as Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to get a hardcore permadeath mode in the near future. Is Baldur’s Gate 3 getting a hardcore permadeath mode? It appears that Larian Studios is set to introduce a hardcore permadeath option dubbed “Honour mode” to Baldur’s Gate 3, and it might be happening sooner rather than later. A Redditor by the name of Scornz spotted an achievement on the GOG launcher titled “Foehammer” with the description stating, “Complete the game in Honour mode.” Honour mode was previously included in Divinity: Original Sin 2 and limited players to just one save that will be deleted if the entire party dies. The difficulty will be set to Tactitician mode, which is Baldur’s Gate 3’s hardest difficulty setting. Although the game mode won’t be titled “hardcore” or “permadeath” in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’ll play in a similar way to a hardcore or permadeath playthrough in other RPGs. That means no more save-scumming and no more simply reloading the game once you and your party meet an end. Save-scumming is the classic gameplay method that involves saving the game just before some of the game’s most dangerous moments. Whether it’s a challenging fight or a potentially game-changing decision, save-scumming allows players to have more control over their playthrough. But now, those who play on Honour mode won’t have that luxury. And with Baldur’s Gate 3 offering near-endless ways for players to die, ranging from being unexpectedly pushed off of a cliff to being slain in battle, players who opt for the game’s Honour mode will need to be extremely careful with every decision in both combat and dialogue. We’ll keep you updated on all news regarding Baldur’s Gate 3’s hardcore permadeath mode named Honour mode right here.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 early access worth it? – Dexerto
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 early access worth it? Larian StudiosWondering whether it’s worth playing Baldur’s Gate 3 in early access? Here’s everything you need to know about the content that’s available before release. After 3 years in early access, a full release for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming this August and while some will want to pre-order the full game now, others may want to try the early access version to get an idea of the gameplay before fully committing. There’s quite a substantial amount of content for early access players to enjoy but if you want to know exactly how much there is to do we’ve got you covered. If you’re curious to see what Baldur’s Gate 3 is all about, or just want to get a good headstart on the game before the full release, here’s everything you need to know about the early access period, including whether or not it’s worth getting. What’s in Baldur’s Gate 3 early access? The Baldur’s Gate 3 early access has years of content under its belt, meaning those looking to pick up the game now will have plenty to explore. Below, we’ve listed what you can expect to see in the game’s early access: Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3 (25-35 hours of content) – Nine races – 11 Classes – 24 Subclasses – Fully active multiplayer capabilities – Is Baldur’s Gate 3 worth it in early access? So, with all those elements present in Baldur’s Gate 3 early access, it’s not uncommon to wonder whether getting it early is worth it. That decision requires a longer answer, with it becoming important for you to assess what you’re looking to gain from the early access and whether it’s worth doing. First of all, it’s worth noting that Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in early access since October 2020. The features, design, and gameplay within have been meticulously polished and provide you with around 30 hours worth of gameplay. It’s filled with beautiful cinematic scenes, and enough unique characters to engross you into every battle and interaction. On top of this, the many races, classes, subclasses, and feats for you to try out when creating a character allow for a unique run every time. It’s perfect for those a little unsure regarding which build they want to commit to when the game fully releases. Sure, it may be a little overwhelming initially, but early access gives players the chance to explore these features at their own pace, and get a sense of the best builds when leveling up fully in the main game. Lastly, and perhaps the sway for many players, if you own the early access, which comes in at the same price as it would be when it fully releases, then you get access to all the pre-order bonuses. This grants exclusive cosmetics, a digital Artbook, a digital soundtrack, character sheets, bonuses for your characters, and much more. Given the game’s the same price no matter what, if you want to get access to those bonuses, then there’s no harm in grabbing it early, even if you don’t play it much. On the other hand, if you’re not too interested in the early access rewards then trying out the game early could be reletively futile. This is primarily because your character’s level will be capped at level 5 until the game fully releases. This can be pretty frustrating for those looking to test out their characters and see what works and what doesn’t as you’ll never get far enough to try those powerful builds or get a taste of the tougher monsters. Also, as it has been with every version released to early access, you’ll have to start your character and the story all over again when the game comes out in August. Stripping you of all your feats, chosen design, loot, and progress in the story. This can be extremely frustrating, especially if you’re purchasing the early access so close to its release date and don’t have the time to dedicate at another 30 hours to exploring the game fully. Moreover, while the price consistency works well as an argument to purchase Baldur’s Gate 3 before its fully release date, the fact that it stays the same also works as an argument to leave it until it’s out. The only element you’ll be losing out on is the pre-order bonus, which is futile if you’re not interested in grabbing those. Lastly, it’s worth remembering that the game is still in early access, even if it’s been in there for years now. That means it’s still a little buggy, and you can still face crashes, texture issues, and glitches which for some, can ruin the immersive experience they’re looking for in the final game. ‘Intimidating’ Baldur’s Gate 3 mechanic is actually extremely useful – Dexerto
‘Intimidating’ Baldur’s Gate 3 mechanic is actually extremely useful Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players claim you shouldn’t sleep on this particularly useful and easy-to-use in-game mechanic in your next run. With so many places to explore and quests to complete, Baldur’s Gate 3 is known to be a massive game that can span hundreds of hours – and that’s only from one playthrough. Hence, with that in mind, it can be easy to miss out on a lot of things, including in-game mechanics. Since the game’s launch, the community has discovered various useful mechanics that can help them out in battles. However, out of all of them, there’s one particular mechanic that you “shouldn’t sleep on,” according to players: alchemy. In a Reddit thread discussing which mechanics players have been neglecting in their playthrough, one user admitted that they’ve never opened the alchemy tab. Seeing this, players responded that it is actually handy and requires little effort, making it worthwhile to learn. One of them wrote: “Don’t sleep on this. I was intimidated by it but there’s really no work involved. Press ‘extract all ingredients’ and then ‘filter by craftable only’ and then just make what’s on that list. It’s super easy and some of the potions you can make are extremely useful (speed, bloodlust, invis).” Another user who claimed to hate “crafting with a passion” even mentioned that this mechanic is “very simple” in Baldur’s Gate 3 and only “necessary for at least one sub-questline.” Meanwhile, one user commented that Hastening Grenades, Potions of Speed, Elixir of Bloodlust, Elixir of Viciousness, Battlemages Elixir (and the strength Elixirs) are “all insanely powerful” and “much more reliably available” if you get their ingredients required on merchants and get a halfling companion to brew them as a transmutation wizard. Another user added: “All my bloodthirsty potions come from this. About halfway through the fight, Astarion and the Risky Ring just start mowing every bad guy down in one turn.” If you’re the type of player who loves to loot everything and steal from merchants, then it’s likely you already have tons of potions in your inventory. That said, in an Honor Mode run where there’s a lot of pressure if you get caught, knowing how to make your own potions can make things easier in the long run.

Interview: Even Twitch was surprised by Baldur’s Gate 3’s staggering success – Dexerto
Interview: Even Twitch was surprised by Baldur’s Gate 3’s staggering success Larian Studios / TwitchWhile its near-unanimous critical acclaim is one thing, Baldur’s Gate 3 has also been a shockingly popular title for content creators. So much so, in fact, it caught even Twitch staff off-guard as one of the biggest surprises of 2023. There’s no two ways about it, Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the biggest success stories in recent gaming history. After its lengthy early access period, the game released in full on August 3 and instantly became Larian Studios’ biggest smash hit to date. Millions of players have since been captivated by its whimsical cast, ceaseless creativity, and immense replay value. To this day, just shy of 200,000 players on PC alone are still jumping in on a daily basis, placing it in elite company among the biggest live-service titles like Counter-Strike 2. With such an explosion in popularity, we naturally saw a wide range of Twitch streamers looking to get in on the fun as well. Though its success on the platform took even Twitch staff by surprise, as seemingly no one was anticipating a turn-based RPG to catch on with viewers quite the way it did. Over the past 90 days, Baldur’s Gate 3 streams have drawn over 58 million hours of total watch time, according to SullyGnome, making it the 15th biggest title on the platform. Similarly, it also managed to crack into the top 10 in terms of peak viewership, with just shy of half a million viewers all watching at the same time earlier this year. This degree of success wasn’t expected by Twitch, Dexerto found out in a recent interview at PAX Australia with APAC Content Director Lewis Mitchell. “Heavy, lore-based RPGs… There’s a subset of creators that are really strong in it,” he explained. “You know [they’re] going to go into every piece of lore, every item. The community resonates with that. “But having an RPG that’s also a turn-based game take off the way it did… In terms of surprises, that’s the one that really got me. I’m a big fan of Baldur’s Gate and Divinity, but I’ve never seen it resonate like [that] with so many massive streamers. “Did not expect that in terms of what was going to take off this year.” Dozens of prolific content creators seemingly fell in love with the title near its release, streaming for hours on end to see and do as much as they could. The likes of shroud, CohnCarnage, AnnieFuchsia, and plenty others all made it a priority. For some, it’s even become their go-to streaming title thanks to its role-playing offerings letting their personality shine through. Moving forward, no doubt Twitch will be keeping a close eye on any similar RPGs after the unexpected boom of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Insane Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch pushes player out of bounds & breaks game – Dexerto
Insane Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch pushes player out of bounds & breaks game Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player revealed how a “weird glitch” they encountered led to a corrupted save file and the ability to roam out of bounds. While Baldur’s Gate 3 may have been the Game of the Year for 2023, the massive RPG title is not immune to the odd in-game bug and glitch. Given the size and scope of the game, it’s only expected that quirks will pop up and issues will arise. The devs work hard to ensure the game is running as smoothly as possible and is filled with as little glitches and bugs as possible. Despite Baldur’s Gate 3 being in the best shape of its lifespan, players are still finding new bugs. Some even game-breaking. For one BG3 player, one such game-breaking glitch, while frustrating, allowed them to explore the map like never before and interact with parts of the game that are typically inaccessible. In a new Reddit thread, the player in question explained how a unique glitch pushed them out of bounds in the game, turning their save into a corrupted file in the process. “A weird glitch forced me out of bounds (at the cost of my save file) and I was able to see that the character customisation is actually a place in the map. It’s close to the astral plane where you talk to the guardian. I also found that the under dark is not actually under the map.” The initial poster also included an image of their findings, something that fellow BG3 players have taken major interest in. One BG3 player commented on the thread, “Nice. It would have been cool if we could visit the place and Tav/Dark urge says something funny about it. Sort of like an easter egg.” Another added, “Hell yeah! I mean RIP save file, hope it wasn’t an honour run, but regardless that’s pretty cool!”

Impressive Baldur’s Gate 3 build deals every elemental damage type in one attack – Dexerto
Impressive Baldur’s Gate 3 build deals every elemental damage type in one attack Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player managed to deal all 10 of the game’s elemental damage types in one hit with a clever combination of weapons, gear, and abilities. Baldur’s Gate 3 is an incredibly flexible game that emulates real tabletop Dungeons & Dragons by giving players the ability to do just about anything and encouraging them to think creatively. This has inspired players to do some incredibly innovative things, from character builds that deal massive amounts of damage to battle strategies that make even the toughest bosses a breeze. One player was even able to pull off a particularly impressive feat by dealing every type of elemental damage in one melee attack. Baldur’s Gate 3 build deals 11 types of damage in one hit Reddit user BeethovenBro shared their build, including both the weapon tooltip and the combat log going over each of the hits. The also broke down how they accomplished the build in the comments. The build itself starts with the legendary weapon Nyrulna, which deals Piercing and Thunder damage. The rest of the damage types come from equipment, spells, and abilities. Pulling off this hit does take some set up. For example, the Cold damage comes from the Ring of Elemental Infusion (which infuses your weapon after using a spell or cantrip), and the Horns of the Berserker’s Necrotic damage only activates if you’re not at full health. It also requires the player to be a Githyanki (or at least shapeshifted into one) to gain the Boots of Psionic Movement’s Psychic damage. You’ll also need at least 11 Paladin levels to gain Improved Divine Smite’s Radiant damage. There’s also some randomness involved in the build. You’ll need to have a Wild Magic Sorcerer who’s at least level 11 to cast Controlled Chaos, which has a chance to enhance a weapon with Force damage for a turn. This also guarantees a critical hit, making the build even deadlier. While this is by no means easy to pull off and not particularly consistant considering it relies on Wild Magic, managing to deal 11 types of damage – every type in Baldur’s Gate 3 except for Slashing and Bludgeoning – in a single hit is undeniably impressive. Ignore power/mechanics – this is the best class to play in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
Ignore power/mechanics – this is the best class to play in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players might be tempted to choose OP builds, but one class stands out for how fun it makes the game. Historically, the Bard class has been a source of vicious mockery among the D&D fanbase. This is due to versions of the Bard in older editions, which were jack-of-all-trade classes with a silly musical gimmick, leading to them being frowned upon by the power gamers of the day. D&D 5e has turned the Bard into a powerhouse with full spellcasting powers, amazing support abilities, decent combat prowess, and useful out-of-combat skills. They might actually be the best class in the game, though they may be a little too complicated for beginners. Baldur’s Gate 3 has done the Bard proud, as it’s just as useful as other classes. There are more reasons to take the Bard than just gameplay mechanics, as they have unique choices that perfectly fit their goofy premise. (It also helps that none of the main party members are Bards, giving your Tav a unique role to fill.) Fans on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit are praising the Bard class, due to its class-exclusive solutions for problems. These involve charming or convincing enemies of unlikely outcomes, such as singing to the Necromancy of Thay book. You also get chances to sing along with characters with musical NPCs you meet in the overworld, such as Alfira or the Myconids. The Bard is also the master of insults. This extends to the dialogue scenes, where you have all kinds of deep cuts and silly jokes to throw at the enemy. Bards are also the masters of the Vicious Mockery Cantrip, which hurts enemies with insults and has tons of unique lines of dialogue when cast. The Bard might not be as viscerally satisfying to play as compared to the Paladin or the Sorcerer, but it’s not all about DPS or AoE effects. The Bard is just an incredibly fun class to play, not even counting its utility and wide range of spells. If you’ve finished Baldur’s Gate 3 once, then the Bard (especially a Dark Urge Bard) can be a great follow-up run.

Hundreds of Baldur’s Gate 3 players somehow beat the game in its opening weekend – Dexerto
Hundreds of Baldur’s Gate 3 players somehow beat the game in its opening weekend Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is a whole lot of game. Players have praised its massive scope and mechanical depth so it’s a big surprise that hundreds then managed to rush through it during its opening weekend. Baldur’s Gate 3 had one of the biggest launches of the year surprising even its own developers with its success. Players have taken to the game with unchecked vigor, pushing Baldur’s Gate 3’s concurrent player count to soaring heights. Twice. Larian celebrated their successful launch with something only the D&D nerds who love Baldur’s Gate 3 this much could appreciate: stats. In fairness, a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 can have some pretty hilarious extrapolations. We’ve already mentioned some of the more outstanding ones like the fact that players spent 88 years in the character creator or the fact that nobody can smash Asterion, despite their best efforts. What shocked us the most is that 368 absolute mad folk beat the game in its opening weekend. To put things in context, this is a game that has prompted hundreds of posts on its subreddit about spending tens of hours in its introduction alone. Players are claiming to have spent 50 hours in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3 with no end in sight. So, how did the intrepid adventurers in Larian’s stat dump get through the game’s extensive story in a brief 70-hour window that we hope included sleep and potty breaks? The answer is they probably skipped a mountain of the game’s impressive side content. We like to imagine that they also adopted temporary insomnia and have a room full of suspiciously colored Sprite bottles but it’s impossible to tell. Jokes aside, for a game this size and a player base of over 2 million, being one of a few hundred to beat the game this quickly is impressive. Hopefully, they’ll be able to experience Baldur’s Gate 3’s rich side content in a second playthrough. Particularly all the companion quests that flesh those characters out so well. Since Larian published the stats, 1.2% of Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been awarded the All’s Well That Ends Well achievement. This marks the successful completion of the game’s campaign. We’re not saying we did the math or anything, except that we totally did. Turns out that’s around 30,000 people. Almost 10 times the amount that finished before the opening weekend was out.

How to unlock Displacer Beast in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to unlock Displacer Beast in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosAre you interested in acquiring the power to transform into a Displacer Beast in Baldur’s Gate 3? It’s possible with a particular ability. This guide explains how to achieve it. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a myriad of extraordinary abilities to players, especially for those open to utilizing the Illithid tadpole residing within them. One such ability is the power to turn into a Displacer Beast. Introduced way back in 1975’s Greyhawk supplement, Dungeons & Dragons fans will recognize the creature as an evil feline that resembles a black puma or panther with tentacles growing from its shoulders. Displacer Beasts have the ability to appear several feet away from where they actually are and can be pretty fearsome fighters in the game, which is ideal in battle. So, here’s how to unlock the ability to turn into one. How to unlock Displacer Beast Shape Baldur’s Gate 3 presents players with the chance to gain Ilithid Powers using tadpoles found throughout the world. After finding one, players will unlock a skill tree with various powers, including the ability to transform into a Displacer Beast. As it’s one of the most powerful options available on the skill tree, there are several prerequisites necessary to unlock Displacer Beast Shape. First, players will need Psionic Overload, which is available from the start. After that, unlock Stage Fright. Finally, players will need to use the Astral-Touched Tadpole before Displacer Beast Shape becomes an option. The decision to let The Emperor evolve you comes with a cost, but it’s a necessary tradeoff for those who want the strongest powers Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer. Those who refuse the offer at the end of Act 2 can find the Astral-Touched Tadpole in their Inventory and use it later to unlock its powers. Once all those have been unlocked, players can use tadpoles to unlock Displacer Beast Shape. Why Displacer Beast Shape is worth it in Baldur’s Gate 3 What makes Displacer Beast Shape so great is that it’s essentially a Wild Shape that even non-Druids can use. When transformed into a Displacer Beast in or out of combat, players gain 85 HP and the physical stats of the creature (Strength 18, Dexterity 15, and Constitution 16) while keeping their own Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. Players can use the ability once per long rest and, once transformed, they’ll stay in this form until they dismiss it, hit 0 HP, or long rest. Displacer Beasts also have some useful abilities. Their basic attack is Tentacle Whip, which deals 2d6+4 bludgeoning and 2d6 piercing damage on a successful attack roll. Illusory Copy is an action that lets the player spawn a duplicate that can attack and distract enemies. There’s also Displace, a bonus action that teleports the user and a target to a nearby location, dealing 2d8 psychic damage and creating an Illusory Copy. Both can be used every three turns. This concludes our guide on unlocking Displacer Beast Shape in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you found it informative, please look into some of our other guides at Dexerto. How to uncover the Doppelganger in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to uncover the Doppelganger in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosDiscovering the Doppelganger hidden within your camp in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a challenging mystery to unravel. Here’s how you can identify the imposter among your companions in the RPG. As players venture through Larian Studios’ latest game and familiarize themselves with their companions, their unique traits become apparent. But can you detect a subtle anomaly in their behavior or appearance that hints that something is amiss? Unfortunately, that’s not always the case, especially when one has been taken and replaced by a Doppelganger. Designed to fit perfectly into the skin of another person, Shapeshifters and Doppelgangers are extremely tricky to locate, which is exactly what the player must do in Bg3. So, to help you out, here’s how to find the Doppelganger in Baldur’s Gate 3. How to find the Doppelganger in Baldur’s Gate 3 To start the Doppelganger element of Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll need to wait until you get to Wyrm’s Rock Fortress, where you’ll meet Lord Enver Gortash. After speaking with him, he’ll ask you if you want to form an alliance. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to accept or reject, for Gortash will quickly reveal that there’s a Shapeshifter in your camp, posing as a Doppelganger to one of your companions or NPCs. From then on, it’s up to you to find out who the Doppelganger is, which can be much harder than many think. Who’s the Doppelganger in Baldur’s Gate 3? Frustratingly, no matter how much you chat with your companions, you can’t truly tell who the Doppelganger is. The only way to find out who the Doppelganger is is to wait until Orin reveals herself to you, which happens when you go into the Sewers in the Lower City. Head there and you’ll find Orin, appearing as one of your party members who will reveal herself shortly after, asking for an alliance. It’s up to you whether you choose to accept or reject this offer, but you’ll want to instantly start looking for where the companion she posed as actually is, or else they’ll quickly die. Before you dive in, check out these tips to help you on your journey: Performance: Playing in split-screen mode on any device may switch the game to 30 FPS mode, even if you were previously in Performance mode. This is to ensure smooth gameplay for both players. – Split-Screen merge: When you play couch co-op, the screen will be split in two: one half for you and another half for the person you’re playing with. As of Patch 7, whenever both characters are close enough, the split screen will merge. – Co-op cutscenes: You’re free to carry on exploring while the other player experiences a cutscene or random conversation, but you can also approach them and listen in to merge the split screen. – Player Limit: The game currently supports a two-player limit for split-screen. While the idea of a four-player local co-op sounds exciting (but chaotic), the current hardware constraints of the consoles make it challenging. – Experience: Playing couch co-op offers a unique experience. Both players can role-play as their characters, embark on individual story arcs, and interact with different party members. – That’s all you need to know about Baldur’s Gate 3 local play mode with split screen. Play all Baldur’s Gate 3 companions in DnD with D&D Beyond Thanks to D&D Beyond, the popular WoTC website housing all your online character sheets, you can now play the main six Baldur’s Gate 3 companions for yourself. Currently, there are character sheets for Astarion, Gale, Lae’zel, Shadowheart, Wyll, and Karlach. They each come with a PDF of their builds, from HP, stats, attacks, skills, and a brief description of their background and personality. Some of the characters have been altered a little to represent a more balanced build, for example, Astarion doesn’t have the typical bonuses you would get if bitten by a vampire, which can also result in the end of your character in a normal D&D campaign. There’s always the possibility to add it in yourself as these character sheets are purely a guideline. It’s worth noting that each character sheet also presents the Baldur’s Gate 3 companions at level 1. So if you are playing at a higher level you may need to alter the sheets. They’re still a great place to start however and are ideal if you want to create or play in a campaign set in the narrative of Baldur’s Gate 3. How to recruit all companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to recruit all companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 companions add vital spells and skills to your party, but finding all of them can be challenging. So, here’s how to get a hold of them, as well as their classes to ensure you choose the best one to suit your playstyle. Baldur’s Gate 3 has ten different companions to choose from. You can fall in love with these companions, explore the world with them, or use them in battle. However, finding all the available companions can be quite troublesome. So, here’s how you can recruit every companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 with their exact location. Astarion Race: Human – Class: Wizard – Background: Sage – Astarion can be found on the west side of the first main map, just after you crash-land onto the beach. Head to the southwest of the roadside cliffs, near the wreck and you should see him asking for help. He’ll ask you to help destroy one of those ‘brain things’ he saw you kill. As soon as you help, or tell him to do it himself, he’ll threaten you with a blade. It’s quite easy to break out and calm the situation. Shortly after, your minds will link and you can begin traveling together. Shadowheart Race: High Half Elf – Class: Cleric (Trickery Domain) – Background: Urchin – Shadowheart will be found stuck in one of the Mind Flayer pods on the Nautiloid, if you stop to help her, you’ll need to find an Eldritch Rune which can looted from a Reliquary Chest through a nearby door. Once you have the Rune, head to the terminal next to the pod and use your Illithid powers to open the cage. This will set Shadowheart free and she will travel with you until your ship crashes. If you choose to save her on the ship, you can find her on the beach (as seen in the picture above) lying unconscious. You can help her again and recruit her. – If you didn’t free her on the ship, you can find her at the entrance to the Dank Crypt. – If you don’t do either of these options, you can find her later in the Druid Grove. – Gale Race: Human – Class: Wizard – Background: Sage – You can recruit Gale by finding him near the Roadside Cliffs on the Ravaged Beach. Head towards that waypoint and you’ll see him stuck in the portal with his arm reaching for help. Simply pull him out and he’ll thank you for your aid. Shortly after your minds will link and you can recruit him as a companion. Remember that pulling Gale can be complicated depending on your dice rolls and what class you end up playing. Lae’zel Race: Githyanki – Class: Fighter – Background: Soldier – Lae’Zel is one of the first companions you will meet in Baldur’s Gate 3 as she will be aboard the Nautiloid. After the crash, you can find her north of where you found Gale as indicated on the map above. You can find her imprisoned in a cage by two Tieflings, you can then choose to persuade the Tieflings or fight them to make them leave the area. You can then shoot the cage to free Lae’Zel and recruit her. Wyll Race: Human – Class: Warlock – Background: N/A – You’ll be able to find Wyll, when you enter Druid’s Grove. He will be heroically fighting the Goblins at the gate, indicating he will likely be inside when you complete the battle. Head into the Grove, and go to the Training Area, where Wyll will be training the other soldiers. Speak to him and he’ll explain a bit about himself. Shortly after chatting, you’ll be able to recruit him as your companion. Karlach Race: Asmodeus Tiefling – Class: Barbarian – Background: N/A – You can find Karlach through Wyll as all you have to do is follow Wyll’s quest to hunt down the demon and you should come across her. You can find her north of the Risen Road, raging by the side of the river. Speak to her there, and make your choice to side with the Paladins hunting Karlach or side with Karlach herself. We’d recommend siding with Karlach as she’s one of the best companions in the game. Halsin Race: Wood Elf – Class: Druid – Background: N/A – To recruit Halsin, start Rescuing the Druid Halsin quest from the Emerald Grove. Side with the Druids to be able to recruit Halsin later. Once this is done, head to the Goblin Camp where you will find the door to the Worg Pens. You will encounter Halsin disguised as a bear fighting some Goblins. You can free him by helping him take out the Goblins. That being said, while all of this happens in Act 1, Halsin won’t join you until Act 2. Once you reach the Shadow Cursed Lands in Act 2, wake up Art Cullagh at the Last Light Inn and get him to mention Thaniel. Halsin will then ask for your help to save Thaniel, if you do end up saving Thaniel, Halsin will join your party fully. Remember that if you decide to follow the Halsin questline, you’ll have to fight a lot of Goblins and it will be difficult. Therefore, be prepared if you want him on your team. Minthara Race: Drow – Class: Paladin – Background: N/A – You can find Minthara in the Shattered Sanctum. Take the ladder close to the door of Worg Pens which will lead you to her chambers. She’s one of the three Goblin Leaders you need to take down in the Goblin Camp. Speaking to her will allow you to side with the Goblins and betrays Druids and Tieflings. Doing so will make Karlach and Wyll leave while also locking out Halsin. If you do end up siding with the Goblins she will eventually be on trial in the Moonrise Towers and you can recruit her there. If you choose to not take on the Druid Grove, then you won’t be able to have her as a companion, so make your decision wisely. Jaheira Race: High half-elf – Class: Druid – Background: Soldier – You can only recruit Jaheira when you get to the Last Light Inn in the Shadow Cursed Lands during Act 2. She will likely ask you for aid in the upcoming battle at Moonrise Towers. It’s up to you whether you let her fight alongside you or lead the Harpers but either way, you must ensure her survival. If she survives, you can recruit her as a companion shortly after. Minsc Race: Human – Class: Ranger, Hunter – Background: Folk Hero – Minsc is found relatively late into Baldur’s Gate 3, in Act 3. However, once you’re there, the first major step is to already have recruited Jaheira in the Last Light Inn. Once you do so, you’ll get her companion quest. Follow this and you’ll eventually find Minsc in the Counting Halls. As you follow the quest, we’d advise bringing Jaheira along as it’ll give you a better chance to recruit Minsc. It’s also vital you keep Jaheira alive as her death will stop you from recruiting Minsc. That’s how you can get hold of every companion in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can take a look at how to revive characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 if your companion happens to die. You can also check out the fastest ways to earn XP to level up fast.

How to find Halsin the Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to find Halsin the Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosHalsin is a Druid and a potential party member in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you will likely hear about a lot throughout the game. However, finding him can be quite difficult since it takes a lot of time. Baldur’s Gate 3 has 10 unique companion characters that you can recruit. Halsin is one of these characters and you’ll likely hear about him for the first time in the Druid Grove while talking to Nettie as she will inform you that he has gone on an expedition to the Goblin Camp. However, finding Halsin past this Goblin Camp can be a bit confusing as he is disguised as a bear and recruiting him is a whole different ordeal. How to find Halsin location in Baldur’s Gate 3 Halsin is located in the Worg Pens in the Goblin Camp. Here’s what you need to do to get there: The Goblin Camp is located west of Druid Grove and past the Blighted Village. – To get there, follow the trail as indicated on the map above until you reach the marker with the Heavy Oak Doors that leads to the Shattered Sanctum. – Once you’re in the Shattered Sanctum, make your way past the Goblin Leaders following the trail (refer to the second map above for reference) until you reach another door. – This door will lead you to the Worg Pens. Head down the stairs to the right and you should see a group of goblins throwing rocks at a caged bear. This bear is Halsin. – How to rescue Halsin from the goblins? Once you reach the caged bear, you are presented with three options: You can initiate combat with the goblins to take them out. – Instigate the goblins to torture the bear more. – Or ideally, use your Illithid Wisdom to convince the goblins to free the bear. – Ideally, you can take out all the goblins without letting any of them escape to prevent alerting the whole camp in the Shattered Sanctum. Once you free Halsin, the game presents you with three more options: attack the goblins, charge the bear, or leave the bear at the goblin’s mercy. You can choose to attack the goblins and once this is done, Halsin will change to his human form and converse with you. How to recruit Halsin as a companion in BG 3 Recruiting Halsin as a companion takes a fair amount of time as you’ll have to go through several stages of the game and progress through two full acts. Here’s a step-by-step method of how to recruit him: Once you have rescued Halsin, he’ll ask you to take out the three True Soul leaders who are threatening the Emerald Grove. – Begin this quest to locate the three leaders within the Goblin Camp and defeat them to save Emerald Grove. – After this is done, continue progressing through the main campaign. Choose either The Underdark or The Mountain Pass to reach the Last Light Inn in the Shadow-touched Lands during Act 2 where Halsin’s real quest begins. – To advance Halsin’s quest, you need to find and help Art Cullagh, a cursed and sleeping man who can be found in the bunks at the Last Light Inn. – Inform Halsin about Art Cullagh and his mention of Thaniel. Thaniel is central to Halsin’s quest, and you need to gather more information. – Return to Art Cullagh with Halsin and engage in dialogue to receive Art’s Last Orders letter and get a new quest. – Follow the Quest to the House of Healing to find an item called the Battered Lute from Malus Thorm. Engage in combat with Thorm and defeat him to get the lute. – Return to the Last Light Inn and use the Battered Lute to play a song for Art Cullagh. Once Art is awake, return to Halsin and take him to Art who will tell Halsin of Thaniel’s location. – Halsin will then tell you to meet him by the lakeshore. Head to the lakeshore after resting as this battle can be quite difficult. You’ll then have to protect Halsin’s portal for five minutes as he rescues Thaniel. – Once this is done, Halsin will return with Thaniel and you can finally interact with him at the camp to recruit him as a companion. – Now you know how to find, rescue, and recruit Halsin in Baldur’s Gate 3. You can even romance him to get the infamous bear scene. Take a look at whether or not you can romance multiple companions, and check out the best Druid build if you wish to rescue Halsin as a Druid.

How to become a sentient cheese wheel in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to become a sentient cheese wheel in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 features many memorable and bizarre moments, including one where the player can be turned into a sentient wheel of cheese. Here’s how to trigger this weird and easily missable event. Larian Studios recently released an infographic that shares some interesting Baldur’s Gate 3 player stats. These include some standard info, such as the most popular classes, subclasses, and romance options. Perhaps the most memorable part of the graphic, though, is the fact that 1.24 million players have been turned into a sentient wheel of cheese. Many were likely surprised by this detail, as the event in which this takes place is easy to miss. For those interested in becoming a living, sentient cheese wheel, here’s how to do it. Baldur’s Gate 3: How to become a sentient wheel of cheese To become a sentient cheese wheel, you’ll first have to make it to Act 3. Once you’re there, head to the Circus of the Last Days in Rivington. Here, you’ll need to talk to Akabi, the djinni and spin Akabi’s Wheel. Each spin costs 500 gold, which shouldn’t be too big a deal at this point in the game but is not really worth it, considering. It’s helpful to have a character with a high Wisdom stat and/or proficiency in Perception, as a successful passive Wisdom check will reveal that the wheel is rigged. Once you’ve learned this, you can confront Akabi. He’ll, of course, deny cheating and threaten to transform the player into “something vile” if they keep accusing him. Continue to pester him, and Akabi will cast Polymorph on you, transforming you into a wheel of cheese. You’ll be stuck as a wheel of cheese for the 20-turn duration of the spell, which ends up being about two full minutes. As a wheel of cheese, you can roll around a bit, but that’s about it. If you, for some reason, want to stop being cheese early, taking any damage should do the trick. The cheese wheel has a max HP of 1, and hitting 0 HP while Polymorphed will turn you back into your original form. Of course, there are other ways to handle this situation – including a way to get Nyrulna, one of the best Legendary weapons in the game – but for those who just want to see one of the funniest moments in Baldur’s Gate 3, briefly becoming a sentient wheel of cheese is worth it. How to beat the Phase Spider Matriarch in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How to beat the Phase Spider Matriarch in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosConfronting the colossal Phase Spider Matriarch in Baldur’s Gate 3 is no easy feat. Our comprehensive guide is crafted to assist you in overcoming this fearsome eight-legged boss and her brood as you journey toward the Underdark. The year 2023 has been remarkable for top-down RPG enthusiasts, with the buzz around Diablo 4 and the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3. The latter’s third installment has drawn a horde of devotees, eager to delve into the game’s rich class and skill diversity. Picking the right one will help you in your conquest to finish the game. But you will have some issues along the way – we’re looking at you Phase Spider Matriarch. This fearsome creature not only looks intimidating, but it actually is too! How to defeat the Phase Spider Matriarch tips To overcome the Phase Spider Matriarch, it’s recommended that Baldur’s Gate 3 players acquire the Spiderstep Boots, destroy spider eggs, and make use of the giant pit. Spiderstep Boots Before you even consider taking on the Phase Spider Matriarch, you should make it a priority to acquire the Spiderstep Boots. This uncommon item allows you to withstand web attacks from Spiders and also allows you to traverse web-covered surfaces. It goes without saying that both of these will become issues if you don’t have the boots equipped. You can find them in the Whispering Depths location using the following coordinates: X:-510 Y:-400. Spider Eggs Another pre-fight measure you need to take with this boss is its eggs. It may seem cruel, but if you want to improve your odds of besting this beast, you’ll need to destroy the spider’s eggs. Sneak into the area, ideally with a Rogue, and try to take out the eggs. There are three different groups of eggs to worry about, and even if the fight begins and the boss’s health bar appears, concentrate your efforts on destroying those eggs to decrease the number of spiders you’ll have to face. The Pit During the course of the fight, keep your distance. Using spells and ranged attacks is your best bet. But you should also concentrate your efforts on knocking the big spider into the giant hole in the middle of the room. The key to doing this is using attacks with knockback effects to push the spider toward the pit. If you can pull this off, you’ll get an instant TKO and be able to move on in Baldur’s Gate 3. How Pact of the Blade works for Warlocks in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
How Pact of the Blade works for Warlocks in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is quite deep when it comes to build crafting and how much you can do with your character. This same applies to Warlocks as well who can use a certain feature called Pact of the Blade. Warlock is arguably one of the strongest and most balanced classes in Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the most important facets of this class is that almost anyone in the game can play it, especially new players. However, there is a special feature among Warlocks called Pact of the Blade. This can be a bit confusing for some players, and here is a guide on how to make it work within the game. Once you understand how it works, your Warlock will definitely reach a completely new level. Guide to Pact of the Blade for Warlocks in Baldur’s Gate 3 Pact of a Blade is a feature that unlocks once you reach level 3 for Warlocks. This unlocks alongside all the level 2 spells for the class. This feature allows you to create a bond with a melee weapon which can include the likes of Battleaxe, Rapier. Trident, Warhammer, Glaive, and Greatsword. Once you have a weapon of choice you can conjure a magic version of it on the battlefield. However, the benefits do not end here as for a Warlock to use these melee weapons you do not require Strength or Dexterity. Instead, all you need is Charisma which Warlocks possess in abundance. Therefore, Pact of the Blade offers you variety and flexibility where you can become a melee warrior despite belonging to the path of magic. Apart from that, if you combine this ability with a Fiend Warlock, you can stand hand-in-hand alongside a proper melee class such as Barbarian. This is because the extra HP you get as a Fiend Warlock makes up for the squishy nature of an inherent spell-caster. This concludes our guide for Pact of the Blade for Warlocks in Baldur’s Gate 3. How Baldur’s Gate 3’s secret ingredient has made it the new Skyrim – Dexerto
How Baldur’s Gate 3’s secret ingredient has made it the new Skyrim Larian Studios / BethesdaBaldur’s Gate 3’s major success has blasted it to a height that can only be met by the legendary RPG Skyrim, but there’s one key reason for this popularity – its dialogue. Typically, when people think of the most successful RPGs of today’s generation, Skyrim is one of the first to come to mind. Sure, the likes of Red Dead Redemption, The Witcher, and the other Elder Scrolls games feel prominent, but nothing hits the spot like Skyrim. Even 13 years after its release, Skyrim rakes in an average of around 3,000 concurrent peak players a month and that’s just on Steam. However, it feels like a new RPG is pining for that top spot, with Baldur’s Gate 3’s timeless attention to detail, consistent playerbase, and touching subject matter propelling the game to a height that finds itself standing face-to-face with the legends gone by. Skyrim is timeless but Baldur’s Gate 3 is timely When comparing a game to the narrative and explorative giant that is Skyrim, it’s important to highlight the timeless nature of Skyrim’s storyline and how the title managed to capture an entire community who are still firmly in their grasp. All you would need to say is “arrow to the knee” or “You’re finally awake” and most of the gaming world would know what you mean. To have such a grasp on a playerbase is unbelievably rare and creates a timeless aura around Skyrim. Many embrace its bugs and older graphics, and plenty more constantly crafting new mods to keep the game up to date. However, while Skyrim is undeniably timeless, Baldur’s Gate 3 just feels increasingly timely. 2023 was a year of major gaming success. Yet, despite the likes of Zelda, Resident Evil, Like a Dragon, Starfield, Mortal Kombat, and more proving their metal, Baldur’s Gate 3 shone brighter than any other title could. It captured thousands and has continued to hold them in its grasp. It’s important to note that this is mostly due to its in-depth characters, plotline, visuals, and dialogue, but it’s equally as vital to analyze the impeccable timing in which BG3 was released. The release happened during a time when many RPG fans and D&D fans felt a little lost. Sure, there are plenty of great RPGs out there, and D&D is the gift that keeps on giving, but after little word on the next Elder Scrolls game, it’s safe to say that fans were getting a little frustrated. Combine that with the OGL controversy from D&D, as well as the sizeable shift with a rules revision coming soon, and you have two player bases with an intense hole in their passions, one perfectly filled by Baldur’s Gate 3. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a sign of the times Along with its perfect timing, Baldur’s Gate 3 feels like it improves on the best aspects of Skyrim, most obviously with its dialogue. As previously mentioned, many would only need to say the first few lines of some dialogue from Skyrim for other gamers to understand the reference. However, it just doesn’t capture the intense, raw, and gripping dialogue expertly added to Baldur’s Gate 3. BG3 touches on some intense topics, from manipulation, abuse, trauma, and so much more – yet it does so with grace and through some stunning performances from its talented voice actors. Once you combine Karlach’s final speech or witness Astarion’s “full concentrated power of the sun” rant it’s hard to ever see how you could compare such a performance to the NPCs of Skyrim. Skyrim still holds power over its immersive world and soundtrack, but its dialogue in comparison to Baldur’s Gate 3 undeniably falls short. When taking into consideration the importance of sound and great NPC performances in successful games, it’s tough to argue that Skyrim beats Baldur’s Gate 3 in any regard – especially when implementing modern graphics, choice variety, and the turn-based combat players have fallen in love with. Inherently, it’s hard to compare two entirely different generations and two very distinct games. However, when analyzing the engrossing storyline and how the dialogue immerses the player, one thing becomes abundantly clear: Baldur’s Gate 3 could just be the new Skyrim and may even surpass it one day.

How Baldur’s Gate 3’s Astarion was influenced by violent cat – Dexerto
How Baldur’s Gate 3’s Astarion was influenced by violent cat Larian Studios / Raw PixelThe actor who played Baldur’s Gate 3’s fan-favorite Astarian has shared his inspirations for the character, including one being a stray cat from his garden. Baldur’s Gate 3 provides players with various choices as they navigate the vast open-world RPG. However, not many have been able to resist the temptations of everyone’s favorite vampire rogue Astarion. The fan-favorite High Elf has proved to be well-loved since the game’s release, all thanks to his sarcastic quips and irresistible charm. Many have even expressed how their actual partners have had their hearts stolen by the vampire. With some even admitting how they felt “humiliated” after giving in and romancing the character. Now, the actor Neil Newbon who played Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3 has shared what influenced the character. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Astarion actor used IRL cat for inspiration During an interview with The Escapist, Newbon shared different influences from real life and fictional characters. He began by explaining he took influences from his background in Italian comedic theatre. A key inspiration was a character called Arlecchino, which was said to be similar to DC’s infamous Harlequin. Aside from this, he mentioned that the mannerisms of Astarion come from his friends as well as actor Giles Foreman, Make-up artist Leendert Van Nimwegen, and Australian comedian Reuben Kaye. “I stole things from people I love dearly,” Newbon shared. Before going on to confirm that he pulled the rogue’s cat-like attitude from a real-life cat from his own garden. “He’s been around this area about 20 years apparently, or something crazy like that,” he said. “He had this interesting vibe about him. I thought, I wonder if I can steal things from this cat. The way the cat moves, or the way the cat looks at you. The way the cat will allow you to come closer and then rip your hand off when it’s bored,” the actor explained. With many players falling for Astarion and others in the game, it has left the community divided over romance being nerfed in the latest update.

How Baldur’s Gate 3 modding works on console: Installation, PC differences, more – Dexerto
How Baldur’s Gate 3 modding works on console: Installation, PC differences, more YouTube/Naughty GamingBaldur’s Gate 3 is introducing officially supported mods to both Xbox and PlayStation users, so here is everything you need to know about when the functionality is arriving and how it will work. Baldur’s Gate 3 has cemented itself as one of the most successful games of the modern era, winning multiple prizes at the Game Awards and amassing a massive player base to boot. While modding has been a staple of the game since day one on PC, player-driven creations will be getting a major boost, with official mod support arriving as part of Patch 7’s release in September 2024. In the lead-up to the September patch, developer Larian has been sprinkling in new information as to what console players can expect from modding, how it will work, and if there will be any difference between how mods operate on console versus PC. As such, here is a breakdown of how Baldur’s Gate 3 modding will work on consoles. Baldur’s Gate 3 console mod support: When will it be available? As part of BG3’s Patch 7 update, set to go live at some point in September 2024, the game will introduce official support mods to both Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5 users. The exact date this patch will go live is still unconfirmed, so be sure to check back in with this section as we update it down the line. Baldur’s Gate 3 modding on consoles: What mods will be available? Those playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on consoles will be limited in what mods they can use as Larian is only providing modding support via their official toolkit. However, players will still have the chance to mod subclasses, weapons, dice skins, and spells in Baldur’s Gate 3, however, it is yet to be confirmed if you’ll be able to add races on consoles. As such, console players will sadly not be able to create new stories, cinematics, or anything of the like, however, they will still be able to play around with the other mods on offer. Differences between modding on consoles vs PC While console players will have access to mods when the September patch does go live, there will be some specific parameters with what players can add and change about Baldur’s Gate 3, as mentioned above. PC players will still be able to create and use unofficial mods on platforms such as Nexus, the devs clarifying in a recent X post that PS5 and Xbox versions will have “curated mods” for players to install, though they “won’t be able to create mods using the toolkit.” How to install Baldur’s Gate 3 mods on consoles At the time of writing, developer Larian has not provided a clear outline of how console players will be able to access mods in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, it is likely the process will be similar to how Bethesda provides mod support for consoles with Skyrim and Fallout by updating the UI to include modding options and support. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 7 is set to go live in September 2024.

How a BG3 player spent 5k on a naked Dwarf statue – Dexerto
How a BG3 player spent 5k on a naked Dwarf statue Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player went viral after spending nearly 5k gold on a naked dwarf statue. Baldur’s Gate 3 has provided the gaming community with some incredible and unexpected moments – whether intentional or unintentionally added by the developers. Players have deemed the RPG one of the most feature-rich and well-polished released in a long time, and some have pipped the game for a possible GOTY win. One of the features is a 5k gold camp item statue that mimics the player’s appearance at purchase, and the community has been very impressed with one player in particular’s statue. A sight-to-see: BG3 naked dwarf statue To obtain the camp item, players must talk to the Rock Elemental/Mephit couple in the Circus, who will offer the statue for 5k gold, built as a replica of the player’s appearance. For one player, this was the “best 5k gold ever spent.” In the screenshot from u/nikankwon, a naked dwarf with a ginger mohawk stood proudly in front of his statue, which was also completely naked. Other BG3 players were jealous of the Dwarf’s naked excellence, warning the community to make sure you had your favorite gear on (or off in the OP’s post) before spending the 5k gold. “I got a statue too, dressed up in my favorite looking armor… forgot I had my helmet hidden, and now my permanent camp statue has an ugly helmet on forever…” “Very important to adjust your gear before getting that statue made. You do not want a weapon or instrument duct-taped to its back or a normally-hidden helmet visible on it.” Hidden statue feature While the BG3 community loved the naked dwarf statue, others found a more practical use for it. Figuring out which weapon to duplicate can be a hard choice for many players. To make sure you don’t waste duplicating a weapon, visit some of Dexerto’s other articles to find how to best build around your Baldur’s Gate 3 character to suit your playstyle.

Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 mouth glitch shocks players – Dexerto
Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 mouth glitch shocks players Larian Studios / New Line CinemaThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community was horrified when one player shared a glitch that was causing characters in his game to have freakish facial expressions. Baldur’s Gate 3 has well exceeded the developer’s expectations for the game, thanks to its diverse and nearly immaculate gameplay that allows players to create their own story. But the game hasn’t been without its glitches, like Goblins yelling at an empty rack, or Karniss being trapped in an endless cycle of pain thanks to the Shadow Curse. Whilst the Karniss glitch horrified players, a new glitch has been scaring players equally as much as it caused all the characters in a player’s Baldur’s Gate 3 run to have horror movie-esque facial expressions and forced grins. Baldur’s Gate 3 scary mouth glitch spooks player One Baldur’s Gate 3 player opened up his game to discover that the characters in his game didn’t look like they usually did: “I have an inkling that I may have broken something.“ Players were skeptical after seeing the characters they had grown to love showing odd expressions they had never shown before. “What a time to have eyes,” one player joked. “Min looks like she’s unhinged her jaw and is about to devour me,” said another. Others found the glitched expression to have an uncanny resemblance to an infamous figure in The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, the Mouth of Sauron. “My master, Sauron the Great, bids you welcome. Is there any in this rout with the authority to treat with me?” one commented under the Baldur’s Gate 3 players’ post, drawing reference between the glitched characters and the Mouth of Sauron’s interaction with Aragorn. Players weren’t upset about the glitch, however, and find the game’s unlimited possibilities and unexpected turns (even if they are glitches) to be what makes it so endearing.

Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch has Kar’niss “living a nightmare” – Dexerto
Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch has Kar’niss “living a nightmare” Larian StudiosA hellish Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch has caused one poor NPC into endless suffering, a time-loop of death (saving throws) and revival. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been lauded as a near-perfect experience that has “ruined gaming” for players with its scope and scale. It’s not immune to bugs and glitches, however. We’ve seen some doozies as well, like game-breaking errors that lock you out of quest lines. Others are a little better because they increase the game’s fun with access to forbidden love triangles. This latest one discovered by Reddit user u/kristin137 falls somewhere in the middle. It could be darkly funny depending on your perspective, or it could make a tragic character’s life that much worse. U/kristin137 explains that poor Kar’niss, already forced to live life as a Drowder, is now trapped in an endless cycle of pain thanks to a glitch in their game. This new hell for Kar’niss is the result of the Shadow Curse. After battling Kar’niss in the Shadow Cursed Land, u/kristin137 noticed the strange aftermath. “for some reason instead of him actually dying after the fight, he healed himself,” they explained. Unfortunately for Kar’niss, he immediately took 50 damage from the Shadow Curse, then he healed himself and immediately took another 50 damage. On and on the cycle goes and according to u/kristin137, he’s still going. Players in the comments seem to have found the funny side in all of this though. “It’s what Lolth would have wanted,” one explained. If we know anything about the Drow goddess that created this abomination in the first place, we’re sure they’re right. Users in the comments have suggested that u/kristin137 use the Moon Lantern they stole from Kar’niss to heal his Shadow Curse and save him from this madness. There’s been no report back on whether this works as of yet. Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 bug makes parasite that will absorb you – Dexerto
Horrifying Baldur’s Gate 3 bug makes parasite that will absorb you Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 bug has transformed the tiny Mind Flayer tadpole into something much bigger than a player character’s head. The entire plot of Baldur’s Gate 3 revolves around the player character and their allies getting Mind Flayer tadpoles stuck in their heads. Under normal circumstances, this would kick off a process called “Ceremorphosis,” turning that person into a Mind Flayer. In order for Ceremorphosis to work, the tadpole needs to be small enough to enter the bearer’s eye. This is seen in grisly detail in the Baldur’s Gate 3 intro, where the player gets a POV shot of the tadpole entering their eye socket. Not all Baldur’s Gate 3 players are so lucky. A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit named atypicalarsonist has shared a video of a glitch that causes a Mind Flayer tadpole to become gigantic. Considering its usual size, it’s amazing just how much detail has gone into the tadpole’s character model. Usually, you only see it during brief cutscenes where you acquire them from the corpses of an enemy or kept in a jar on the overworld, where it’s only the size of a worm. This Mind Flayer tadpole’s appearance and unusual size caused fans in the comments to wince, “Imagine having that thing crawl into your eye,” one user wrote, while another joked, “And the worst part? It’s a suppository.” Since entering Early Access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has had its fair share of glitches. The developers might never fix all of them, considering the sheer amount of content and possible solutions in the game. This means that the giant Mind Flayer tadpole might be here to stay. Tav and their companions might be some of the unluckiest heroes in the Forgotten Realms, but the ones who stumble across these original PS3-sized monstrosities might have the worst fortune of them all.

Hilarious Halsin line has Baldur’s Gate 3 players realizing how “savage” he is – Dexerto
Hilarious Halsin line has Baldur’s Gate 3 players realizing how “savage” he is Larian StudiosA conversation between Halsin and Gale has Baldur’s Gate 3 players realizing the Druid may secretly be the most savage character in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 players are finally realizing that the mild-mannered Druid Halsin can actually be pretty cold. As shared by Reddit user Sanguinarian1, Halsin has a hilarious moment that the poster calls “My favorite line in the game.” In a conversation with Gale, Halsin declines to give the Wizard romantic advice, saying, “Dispensing advice on matters of the heart would be like swapping boots – what suits me may be a poor fit for you.” Gale understands his reluctance, saying “At least you didn’t tell me to ‘be myself’” – but it’s at this point that Halsin throws some shade that would put any tree to shame, replying: “Oh no, perish the thought. That can be outright cruel advice to offer on certain cases.” Unsurprisingly, fans have interpreted that as Halsin not-so-subtly implying that Gale shouldn’t be himself, giving the Druid a brutally honest side some weren’t expecting. “Halsin is selectively savage,” said one commenter. “He’s all mild-mannered puns about nature until the claws come out.” “That man is a circle of wildfire with the burns he throws,” said another, referencing a Dungeons & Dragons 5e Druid subclass. Others pointed out that Halsin does actually give some good advice throughout the game, especially on topics like leadership, which is fitting for a wise old Druid like him. Regardless of how much of a burn this line is on poor Gale, some still found value in Halsin’s words. As one player commented, “A video game character is giving out better romantic advice than literally anyone I’ve met IRL. Sad.”

Hilarious Baldur’s Gate 3 bug leaves player glued to Halsin in an endless hug – Dexerto
Hilarious Baldur’s Gate 3 bug leaves player glued to Halsin in an endless hug Larian StudiosAn awkward yet hilarious glitch in Baldur’s Gate 3 has led one player stuck constantly hugging Halsin when talking to him. Baldur’s Gate 3, despite having received several patches since its initial launch in 2023, still has its fair share of glitches to this day. Given how massive the game is, with so many different quests, dialogues, locations, and even a secret approval mechanic, things like this are expected to happen. While some of the glitches can be outright game-breaking, like being stuck or unable to teleport, some players have discovered that a portion of them can be harmless and even funny – like this Act 3 glitch that leads to the player’s character being glued to Halsin in a hugging pose. Shared in a Reddit thread, the user posted a short clip showing a dialogue with Halsin during the party in Act 3. In the clip, Halsin was talking normally to their character, responding to the dialogue options they chose. However, instead of the usual pose, the player’s character was seen hugging the Druid to the point that there was a slight clipping in the model. It gets even more hilarious when you see that they look like they’re repeatedly hugging Halsin, pausing every few seconds before going back in for another hug. The user didn’t exactly specify how this glitch triggered, but it’s a hilarious sight to see. Seeing this phenomenon, one user commented: “Wholesome bromance.” Another one even referred to this as “The Oak Father’s embrace.” Halsin fans who want to keep hugging him don’t have to rely on triggering a glitch to achieve something similar. There are plenty of Baldur’s Gate 3 mods you can download, and some of them even allow you to hug and kiss characters whenever you please, even if they’re not a companion. Just… make sure to click the right character, though – or else you might end up creating the worst romance imaginable.

Hilarious Baldur’s Gate 3 bug leaves player turning into a backpack – Dexerto
Hilarious Baldur’s Gate 3 bug leaves player turning into a backpack Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player was left stunned after loading into a friend’s game as a backpack instead of their Tav. With all the quests, dialogues, NPCs, cutscenes, locations, and everything else combined, Baldur’s Gate 3 truly feels like an incredibly massive game. While these add to the game’s replayability, however, it also means that the game is not without its fair share of bugs. Since launch, the community has shared some of the most bugs they’ve found, some of which lead to hilarious situations. Recently, not only did the characters’ portraits turn into webcam videos, but one user also shared a bug that made them appear as a literal backpack. According to them in a Reddit thread, this happened when they loaded in their friend’s game. In the image they attached, instead of seeing their Tav loading in the game’s world, only a single backpack appears floating in nowhere. Seeing this phenomenon, other players flooded the comments, many of which couldn’t help but poke fun at the situation. One user joked, “I wish I was a bag of holding,” to which another replied, “I could’ve sworn Tav/Dark Urge said they wish they HAD a bag of holding, but I’ll be hearing this from now on.” A different user claimed that this sounds like the beginning of one of those “wacky isekai-stories.” Replying to this, another said: “That Time I Reincarnated as a Bag of Holding coming soon to western audiences!” “High STR build be like,” one chimed in. Meanwhile, one user mentioned, “Hahaha!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve never seen this before, but it’s brilliant. Now I am jealous.” They also suggested the player leave the game and rejoin the session, guessing it simply didn’t read them joining in. Either way, despite this being a bug, it’s a pretty hilarious and ironic sight to see, mainly since Tav sometimes mentions they wish they had a bag of holding. Though with Patch 7 coming this September, this will likely get patched out.

“Hilarious” Baldur’s Gate 3 bug is ending Honor Mode runs – Dexerto
“Hilarious” Baldur’s Gate 3 bug is ending Honor Mode runs Baldur’s Gate 3In Baldur’s Gate 3 players are losing hours of progress, including entire Honor Mode runs, thanks to a ridiculously infuriating bug that sends characters plunging into the void. Honor Mode is for those who crave the ultimate challenge in Baldur’s Gate 3. Tougher bosses, stricter rules, a single save slot, and the ever-looming threat of permadeath make every decision crucial, as a total party kill means the end of the road. Now, imagine players’ frustration when, after painstakingly battling through two acts, they lose everything because of a bug in an Act 2 dungeon – one that already has its fair share of issues at that. In a Reddit thread, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared a video of the wizard Gale unexpectedly launching himself into the abyss in the Gauntlet of Shar. This occurred while the party was waiting on a moving platform descending to the depths of the Gauntlet. However, Gale suddenly starts running and jumping around, eventually taking a dive to the floor below. It’s not the end of the world – just a minor 22 points of bludgeoning damage. Many commenters found the clip hilarious, with one pointing out that the Gauntlet of Shar is “not the time for a potato-sack race, Gale.” However, another commenter revealed the more serious consequences of this common bug, saying “Some people have lost their honor mode runs because of this platform.” As others have explained, characters occasionally decide to take a surprise dive off platforms while they’re moving between floors. Usually, it’s not a total disaster – they crash-land, scream, and take a hearty smack of damage. However, if they all fall through the floor, the character dies. This bug is so common that Honor Mode players have devised a workaround: leaving one character behind to avoid a party wipeout and, inevitably, a game over screen. The Baldur’s Gate 3 team is known for rolling out hotfixes and patches swiftly. While the community often buzzes over more superficial parts of updates – like Halsin and Astarion’s make-out sessions – the developers are diligent in squashing game-breaking bugs. Plus, glitches aren’t always terrible. Sometimes, they let you romance a certain shapeshifter villain.

Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 note proves Act 2 is “nightmare-fuel” – Dexerto
Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 note proves Act 2 is “nightmare-fuel” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is an immersive game and its Acts provide all kinds of experiences including love, hate, horror, joy, and more. As such, fans feel Act 2 is “nightmare fuel,” delivering a complete horror experience. The discussion surrounding this topic was initiated by a Reddit user who posted, “This note always gets me,” detailing the chilling story of a child wanting their mother to return. If you have never found this note, you should check the bones underneath the broken tower near Moonrise. Nevertheless, several players joined in the conversation since they all enjoyed the horror aspect of Act 2. One such user commented, “Yeah, The Shadow Cursed Land’s straight up nightmare-fuel,” while another user chimed in, “reminds me of the brain you can pick up in the mf colony that is a kid, thinking youre its mum or dad. messed up stuff.” A different player responded, “I’m about halfway through my second play through and recently found the butcher block with the pile of domesticated dog and cat collars in the shadowcurse.” Finally, one user claimed, “The one I’ll never forget in Act 2 is the context between the True Loves Caress ring, it’s actually such a horrifying sh*t when I found out about the context of that ring the first time.” It’s clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been through a lot of horrifying experiences from Act 2. The entire Shadow Cursed Lands is not a nice place to be and fans have felt that throughout the Act.

Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 content makes random fish the hero – Dexerto
Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 content makes random fish the hero Larian StudiosA dedicated Baldur’s Gate 3 player found a series of late-game failsafes including one that puts the fate of the Forgotten Realms into the fins of one random fish. Baldur’s Gate 3 players have plenty of evidence to prove that developer Larian Studios thought of nearly everything. That level of detail and foresight led one YouTuber to test out what happens if you lose certain key items in locations you have no way of returning to. The end of Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 2 introduces the Netherstones, powerful magical artifacts held by the Chosen of the Dead Three. After defeating Thorm and getting his Netherstone, players spend Act 3 obtaining the rest. Since these items are necessary to reach the final boss, the game makes it very clear they are important. The Emperor will even chastise players who drop the Netherstones, ordering them to pick them up and keep them safe. In a video, Proxy Gate Tactician shows off a variety of failsafes they found that prevent players from softlocking themselves should they lose the Netherstones, some of which are pretty wild. The YouTuber found unique lines of dialogue and even some encounters that only occur if you lose the Netherstones in certain places. Most interesting is what happens if you lose the Netherstones at the Iron Throne, an underwater prison that self destructs once you leave. Since you obviously can’t return there, the game has measures in place to prevent players from accidently making their save impossible to complete. If this happens, the Emperor will send you to the Lower City docks, and defeating and looting the Suhagin will allow you to get the stones back. However, since that encounter happens regardless, Proxy Gate Tactician tested what would happen if you already completed it before the Iron Throne. As they found, that causes the Netherstones to fall into the hands of a merchant in that same area, where they can be purchased for a couple of gold each. But because, like the Suhagin, the merchant exists no matter what, the YouTuber tried again, killing him to see what happens if both failsafes are removed. The result is that a random fish will consume the stones and wash onto shore where it can be looted, leading Proxy Gate Tactician to joke that it had “giving its life to save Faerun.” Also surprising is an entirely unique encounter that takes place if you lose the stones at the Steel Watch Foundry. While you can’t go back inside, returning to the area reveals the Netherstones have been taken by kobold looters. They won’t attack, but they’ll try to escape – resulting in a game over if they get away. This encounter doesn’t happen under other circumstances, meaning it only exists for this exact reason. Each of these sequences also involves unique voice lines from the Emperor, which shows just how much effort Larian put into failsafes that, given all the warnings, are unlikely to occur unless you intentionally leave the Netherstones behind. Though Proxy Gate Tactician admits that these aren’t “super extensive,” the YouTuber says they’ve already put 1,400 hours into the game. Surprisingly, that’s not the only discovery Baldur’s Gate 3 players have made after reaching a four-digit playtime, as another player says they found an adorable hidden merchant after over 1,000 hours.

Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 bed buff turns the tides in Act 3 Cazador fight – Dexerto
Hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 bed buff turns the tides in Act 3 Cazador fight Larian StudiosThis hidden Baldur’s Gate 3 buff is proof that you shouldn’t give up on checking all kinds of things in the game even when they don’t seem important at a glance. Baldur’s Gate 3 starts off with you fighting hyenas, gnolls, and goblins. However, progress the game long enough, and you’ll eventually be up against tougher enemies with annoying spells and mechanics. At one point, one fatal mistake can get your entire party wiped, especially in Honor Mode runs. Fortunately, there are different buffs throughout the game that you can obtain to help out. While not all of them can be permanent, like Volo’s “painful” lobotomy, certain buffs can easily be the matter of securing a kill on a boss or getting obliterated. Now, before heading into Cazador’s fight in Act 3, there’s this HP buff you wouldn’t want to miss out. Unless you’re always keeping tabs on Baldur’s Gate 3 patch notes, it can easily be missable during your playthrough. The buff gives you the False Life condition, temporarily granting you an extra +17 points to your health. To trigger it, you’ll have to interact with the vases in Cazador’s dungeon. You’ll hear one of the vases mentioning the whispers of Vellioth: “Lie where Cazador lies.” From here, you’ll need to lie down on Cazador’s bed — the one beside an Ancient Skull to activate it. You’ll instantly receive the buff afterward. In a Reddit thread, some players admitted that they weren’t aware of this. Vases in Baldur’s Gate 3 rarely have good loot, and a lot of them are also empty most of the time, making it feel like a waste of time to check out on them. But with this hidden buff being available in the game, Larian has continued to show us that details matter and that there’s so much that meets the eye in Baldur’s Gate 3. This buff reminds us of the Temple of Shar, where you can get the Nightsinger’s Favour buff by praying to a statue, something that can easily be ignored if you’re rushing through your playthrough. Though you’ll need to succeed in a Religion check for this one. Overall, these buffs can come in handy to prep yourself up before fighting the big bad.

Hidden area in Baldur’s Gate 3 points to scrapped deity storyline – Dexerto
Hidden area in Baldur’s Gate 3 points to scrapped deity storyline Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 fans believe they have discovered a tucked away area that points to a cut storyline centered around one of the game’s deities. The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of lore it can explore thanks to its foundations in Dungeons & Dragons. Arguably, there’s almost too much lore, resulting in some things needing to be left unexplored or cut from the game entirely. Many Baldur’s Gate 3 fans believe this to be the case with a deity in the game after discovering a hidden area that mentions this god-like being, without actually fleshing it out more. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans believe hidden area is cut content The story can be found on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, where a player asks the community: “Is it me, or has a lot of content been cut about this goddess?” They go on to explain how Umberlee, the goddess of water, is mentioned at the beginning of the game, and then players encounter her followers in the third act. They then detail an area they found that can lead to a fight with her followers, and then a passage that suddenly ends. “It makes me think there was a lot more of content planned for the Goddess Umberlee…” One user is following this same line of thinking since the game’s Early Access had Umberlee as a deity choice as part of the character creation. “I hope they add it one day, I still love the game so much though and have made it to act three at least a dozen times over the last several patches.” Some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans say these kinds of areas are all over Act Three, and they’d love to see that fleshed out further: “I’d go for no DLC and have them work more on Act 3. There’s just stuff there where it’s so obvious more time was needed.” However, some users are more inclined to call this area an example of worldbuilding, rather than cut content. “That’s good world building, no cut content. The fact that a throwaway like this makes you feel like there are threads to pull in the story is just good storytelling.” Regardless of whether there was content there that was cut or not, it is clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are eager to find more story to sink their teeth into.
