  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one unassuming item is a game-changer – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one unassuming item is a game-changer Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players shout out the many battles in which Spider Egg Sacs prove beneficial, including during the final fight. The last battle in Baldur’s Gate 3 is less of a fight and more of a grueling gauntlet that pits players against deadly tentacles, cloned companions, Mind Flayer mages, and the Red Dragon. Through lots of planning, exploits, and happy accidents, the BG3 community has found ways to cheese the final battle. But one player wanted others to remember they can also rely on an unassuming item when push comes to shove – the Spider Egg Sac. Reddit user Everwake8 told players in a Baldur’s Gate 3 thread not to forget that they have “one more ally for the final fight.” Using the egg sac unleashes five crag spiders who don’t deal much damage, but they can slowly pick away at an enemy’s health and make for great distractions. One user in the thread said they were unaware that egg sacs were usable items. A different person poked fun at themselves because they “never remembered to use that thing in any playthrough.” Other Baldur’s Gate 3 players pointed out that Spider Egg Sacs prove useful long before the final boss rears its head. One person claimed the item especially became handy when battling the Phase Spider Matriarch in the Blighted Village. “I use that egg to fight the spider under the well. Just seems poetic,” the user wrote. Another player said the sac is “useful for the Hag fight on honor mode playthroughs,” because even one hit from the group of spiders can devastate one of the Hag’s copies. Obtaining the sac itself isn’t exactly an easy feat, since it requires players to defeat spiders at the Rocky Crevice before performing a few skill checks. However, those who endure that gauntlet will be rewarded with a handful of allies who make several fights, including the final battle, a bit more doable.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 spell has more recorded dialogue than most films – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 spell has more recorded dialogue than most films Larian StudiosA popular Cantrip in Baldur’s Gate 3 has several hours worth of dialogue recorded for it, more so than some feature films. It’s difficult to find a Bard in Baldur’s Gate 3 or D&D 5e that doesn’t use the Vicious Mockery Cantrip. This class spell list-exclusive Cantrip involves the player insulting the enemy so hard that it hurts their mind, potentially killing them if they’re weak enough. The popularity of Vicious Mockery is such that the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 gave it special attention, even though there are no Bard party members. To hear most of the insults, your Tav/Dark Urge needs to be a Bard, or you need to multiclass/respec one of the existing party members. (You can also get Vicious Mockery without taking Bard levels by taking the Magic Initiate: Bard Feat, as that lets you take Cantrips from the class’s spell list.) In a recent fan discussion, it was mentioned how detailed some of the character animations are for spellcasters when they use magic. It was mentioned how much dialogue there was for Vicious Mockery, with over two hours worth of lines recorded for the game. These include Vicious Mockery insults performed by all of the Tav voice options, the party members (as they can respec/learn the Cantrip), and NPC spellcasters. There are also some unique enemies that possess Vicious Mockery with their own specific jabs, such as Auntie Ethel. A video of the Vicious Mockery spells in action can be seen on the Chubblot YouTube channel, clocking in at over two hours. Bards are one of the best classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 for a variety of reasons. The ability to murder your foes with a well-timed slight is one of the class’s highlights, especially as the game has so much fresh material to work with.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner smashes two world records in just two days – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner smashes two world records in just two days Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner, Mae, exceeded expectations over the past two days, smashing not one but two world records for speedruns through All-Acts and Honour Mode. Speedrunning is a huge subculture amongst the gaming community. Plenty of games — from roguelikes to RPGs — get the breakneck treatment from speed-savvy gamers. Baldur’s Gate 3, which has a reputation for being one of the longer RPGs out there, is no exception. And one speedrunner in particular has been smashing records left, right, and center. Mae, who describes herself on Patreon as a 20-year-old university student from Canada, holds several world records for Baldur’s Gate 3 speedruns already — including her insane 4:15 any% speedrun. Earlier this month she appeared on Awesome Games Done Quick, showcasing some of her strategies in an any% speedrun which took just over 33 minutes. The speedrunner was back at the lengthy RPG again this weekend, this time beating the game in under twenty minutes and beating her AGDQ performance by 14 minutes. Mae employed a range of creative strategies to achieve her record-breaking run. This included utilizing Shadowheart Invisible and in bear form to pulverize her way through mobs and bosses. Mae then went on to “shadowbox” the companion — killing her opponent and bringing her along for the ride to Act 2 in the inventory. Other creative strategies she employed included the feather fall/enhance leap combo, using this to moon jump her way past the non-essential combat. She finished the All-Acts run with a new world record of 19:20. The next day she tried her hand at another run, this time in the game’s hardest difficulty. After moonjumping her way to the High Hall, Mae swiftly dealt with the Elder Brain. Clocking another new world record in Honor Mode, as she finished at just 21 minutes and 17 seconds.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner sets new record by stuffing Shadowheart’s corpse in a box – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner sets new record by stuffing Shadowheart’s corpse in a box Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s any% speedrun record has dropped well under five minutes thanks to a handy new trick. Dubbed “Shadowboxing” by speedrunners, the technique involves packing Shadowheart’s remains in a box. Baldur’s Gate 3 has quite the storied speedrunning history for such a fresh release. Players have been finding whatever game-breaking methods they can to whittle the timer down and roll credits. Some Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunners don’t even have to do that. One popular category to see who can get the speediest smash is now officially recognized on speedrun.com as ‘sex%’. Certain methods are so busted that Larian has even patched them out of the game and we think that this one may follow suit. Here’s how famous Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner Mae managed to finish the game in four minutes and 15 seconds by desecrating the corpse of our favorite Cleric. Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘Shadowboxing’ speedrun Mae’s start seems relatively simple, pick Gale as the player character and take Enhance Leap and Feather Fall as first level spells. This allows her to bound past any combat encounters from the first act and book it to the Mountain Pass. At this point, Shadowheart auto-joins the party thanks to spoilery story reasons and Mae proceeds to leap past any further encounters and into Act 2. This is where the infamous ‘Shadowboxing’ comes into play. For whatever reason, murdering Shadowheart and placing her corpse in a suitable receptacle makes Baldur’s Gate 3 fall apart and skip the second act entirely. Mae crams Shadowheart’s carcass into a crate, sets it ablaze, and shakes it until she’s suddenly transported to the final boss of Act 2. From here Mae opts for the ending in which Gale detonates his chest nuke in the Cult of the Absolute’s hideout turning everyone of note into a Mindflayer. Credits roll and there you have it, a sub-five-minute run with plenty to unpack in therapy. Mae is prolific in the Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunning community and has set multiple records in the any% and sex% categories. This latest effort puts her a full 11 seconds against the next quickest run and she has a habit of coming back if someone takes her spot. • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner finishes game in 10 minutes with explosive Gale strategy – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner finishes game in 10 minutes with explosive Gale strategy Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner was able to finish the game in just 10 minutes by using a unique feature of Gale to make the credits roll early. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive RPG with a long main story that will easily take most players 75 to 100 hours to complete. However, speedrunners are finding ways to significantly reduce that time and roll credits in under an hour. A new record for Any Percent speedruns was set by Mae, who managed to complete the game in just 10 minutes and 3 seconds. In a video, Mae shows how they were able to breeze through Acts 1 and 2 and trigger one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s darkest endings in less time than most players likely spent in the character creator. Mae’s strategy relies on choosing Origin character Gale who, for story reasons, is uniquely suitable for this type of speedrun. Note, spoilers for Gale’s storyline to follow. Why Gale is so important for Baldur’s Gate 3 speedruns The Origin character and potential companion Gale has a condition that requires him to consume magic items to survive. Those who play as Gale or get to know him through gameplay will eventually find out that he was once the lover of the goddess Mystra and, following an act of hubris, ended up with a Netherese Destruction Orb in his chest. At the beginning of Act 2, Gale is offered a path to redemption: Mystra will forgive him if he uses the Orb to take out the Absolute in a heroic sacrifice. While not the best option in a normal playthrough, Baldur’s Gate 3 Any Percent speedruns use this incredibly dark feature to their advantage, making their way to the end of Act 2 to detonate the Orb – and Gale with it – as quickly as possible. How the Baldur’s Gate 10 minute speedrun works To set up the run, Mae gives Gale a Strength stat of 17 and the Enhanced Leap spell to maximize his movement. He also has Ice Knife to take out the Imps in the first area, plus Misty Step and Feather Fall to get out of combat and avoid fall damage, respectively. Mae also picks up Shadowheart for the spell Sanctuary, which protects Gale in what would otherwise be deadly encounters. From there, Gale essentially hops across the world, avoiding and escaping combat as much as possible, making it to the confrontation in the Mind Flayer Colony just before the 10-minute mark – though not before stripping down to his underwear. From there, Mae allows Gale to blow himself up, and the credits roll. Mae’s latest video shaves 49 seconds off of their previous record, which was achieved by swapping the spell Magic Missile for Ice Knife. While skipping most of the story and triggering a dark ending in which the elder brain is destroyed but the illithid tadpoles are able to mature and infect or enslave everyone on the Sword Coast probably isn’t the way most players will want to experience Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s still incredibly impressive. Baldur’s Gate 3 has only been out in full for about a week, but with players already accomplishing impressive feats like 10-minute speedruns, using Owlbears as nukes, and sneaking into a castle using crates, it’ll be exciting to see what the community does next.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner makes it to that infamous bear scene in under an hour – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner makes it to that infamous bear scene in under an hour Larian StudiosA speedrunner has managed to reach Baldur’s Gate 3’s infamous Halsin bear sex scene in just under an hour. Since it was revealed ahead of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s launch, the Halsin romance scene where the player gets intimate while he is in Wild Shape as a bear has received plenty of attention from those who are intrigued, offended, or simply baffled by it. Now, a speedrunner has set a new record by reaching the game’s most infamous love scene in under an hour. It’s an impressive feat given the size of the game and how much you have to do just to recruit Halsin, and one that’s bound to encourage even more ridiculous speedrun attempts. Speedrunner reaches Halsin bear scene in just under an hour What makes a “Bear%” speedrun like this so challenging is the fact that you need to complete Halsin’s romance questline to reach the scene in question. This involves reaching Act 3 while completing some side content and making choices necessary to recruit and romance Halsin, such as saving the tieflings and rescuing Thaniel. Speedrunner weedmoder shared their achievement on YouTube, breaking down every step they took. Like many other speedruns, this includes the so-called “Shadowboxing” technique, which involves killing Shadowheart and stuffing her corpse into a box. While an hour is pretty impressive given how much content players need to go through to romance Halsin, there’s certainly room to cut that time down. weedmoder mentions making a couple of small mistakes that could take seconds off the final runtime. Of course, now that the Bear% speedrunning category has been established, others are sure to attempt it, finding more ridiculous ways to break Baldur’s Gate 3 in pursuit of a bear. • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner dispatches Honor Mode in just 38 minutes – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner dispatches Honor Mode in just 38 minutes Larian StudiosSpeedrunner Chronos has cracked Baldur’s Gate 3’s new Honor Mode in only 38 minutes, and they could get even faster. The addition of Honor Mode in Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest patch created a new challenge for players who felt like the other difficulties were still too easy. Honor Mode forces players to play at the hardest difficulty level and introduces the concept of permadeath, meaning if your party dies, you can’t simply go back and load up a previous save. Instead, your entire playthrough has come to an end. It’s a high-stakes but high-reward game mode, and definitely more suited for the kinds of players who like taking the game slowly and methodically. Which is why the speedrun completed by Chronos is so impressive. When taking your time to plan out encounters isn’t an option, Honor Mode becomes a whole lot riskier. Speedrunner cracks Baldur’s Gate Honor Mode in under an hour A significant part of the run relies on using spells and cantrips to increase jump length, which allows for rapid movement through both combat and the world. There are also a variety of skips and glitches available that shave off whole areas of the game. As an example, Chronos had already defeated Ketheric at just under 16 minutes into the run; most of it was spent navigating Act 3. Even more impressive is the fact that Chronos described this run as a “safe” one, and claimed that there were more reckless techniques that could make the time even lower. • Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner beats all 3 acts in half an hour – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner beats all 3 acts in half an hour Larian StudiosIn response to criticism of her previous records, a Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner managed to beat all three acts of the game in just over half an hour. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive RPG with hundreds of hours of content for players to explore, but for speedrunners, that size is merely a challenge rather than a deterrent. Since launch, speedrunner Mae has been sharing new and innovative ways to break the game and roll credits in minutes rather than hours. She has set and defended records for Any% runs, using strategies like hopping around as Gale to essentially detonating a nuke and stuffing Shadowheart’s corpse in a box to skip Act 3. While impressive, some have claimed those runs don’t really count since they skip so much of the game. In response, Mae has shared a new Any% (All Acts) speedrun that manages to go through every act and unskippable boss fight in just over half an hour. Baldur’s Gate 3 Any% (All Acts) speedrun involves a lot of jumping, shoving & exploits After sharing some of the negative comments her previous records received, Mae shared her impressive accomplishment in a video titled “Speedrunning Baldur’s Gate 3 By Launching Everyone to Their Doom.” Unsurprisingly, her Tav, named “Ketchup Man,” breezes through the Nautiloid in 34 seconds. From there, there’s a lot of jumping and companion murder to speed through the game. The run is really worth watching for yourself (and much less of a time commitment than a typical Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough), but some highlights include taking down Ketheric Thorm using a Witch Bolt cast from a distance and carrying Enver Gortash around so he could be thrown off a bridge. Ultimately, Mae is able to roll credits in just 30 minutes and 22 seconds – quite the feat, considering it takes most players rushing the main story about 40 hours to beat Baldur’s Gate 3. Given Mae’s track record, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her cut down on her time in the future, especially if someone else manages to take her record. For now, though, it’s clear the speedrunner has gotten the last laugh following all those critical comments. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players realize they missed early Speak with Dead opportunities – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players realize they missed early Speak with Dead opportunities Larian StudiosBG3 players have realized that a few Speak with Dead opportunities appear earlier in the game than expected. Speak with Dead is a spell the Bard, Cleric, and Warlock classes can use to communicate with humanoid corpses in Baldur’s Gate 3. In essence, the spell returns a bit of life to otherwise lifeless corpses, thus giving the user an opportunity to ask several questions. Players may find that performing this act on someone they killed won’t end in their favor. However, the ritual Disguise Self spell is known to help. Interestingly, some users have learned that Speak with Dead encounters pop up pretty early in the RPG. BG3 fans highlight Speak with Dead moments many likely missed Reddit user ProtegOMyEgg0 called attention to Speak with Dead scenes players may have missed in Act 1. Apparently, players can encounter all of these early moments after landing on the beach. The body of Marcus, a “Dead Fisher,” can be found before reaching the dilapidated docks, the user said. In extracting information from his form, players will learn that he died after being distracted by a “beautiful elf.” Ellie is another Dead Fisher who lost her life because of the elf. Her remains should be located in the water north of the docks. Finally, an “Abducted Nobleman” named Francis also lies dead on the beach. Clerics can expect to receive “colorful” information from him, in accordance with the deity they worship. A few people in the thread seemed happy to learn about these interesting spell-casting possibilities. Wrote one user, “I always forget about speaking with the dead, guess I’ll get plenty of time when I do a durge run.” Someone else noted that Baldur’s Gate 3 players need not fret over what they may have missed, especially since backtracking is an option. “You can always backtrack later, you don’t need to cast these spells right after the crash.” Meanwhile, others seem more interested in the identity of the beautiful elf the Dead Fishers mentioned. One person assumed Astarion was the distracting elf, yet another fan explained: “It’s the mind flayer. They disguised themselves to lure and charm people, and then kill them.” As always, it seems there’s constantly new things to learn about the wide-spanning world of Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players praise new dialogue for giving Astarion standards – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players praise new dialogue for giving Astarion standards Larian StudiosA new BG3 patch added dialogue that lets Astarion confront players if they had a fling with Mizora while romancing him. The third act of Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to pursue a fleeting romance with Mizora, a character who proves essential to Wyll’s backstory. This fling can cause trouble in some respects, especially if the player has already locked in their desired romance partner in previous chapters. Some NPCs accept the player character’s affair with Mizora. For example, players have reported that Shadowheart doesn’t mind so long as her own needs are still met. But many thought it strange that Spawn Astarion never had a stronger reaction when learning about the dalliance. The RPG’s newly released Patch 6 managed to address all of that and more. Spawn Astarion gets new dialogue options in BG3’s Patch 6 Following the recent rollout of Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6, eagle-eyed fans discovered proof of brand-new dialogue lines for Astarion. The new options are specific to Vampire Spawn Astarion and only surface if the player and Mizora sleep together. In sharing the news, Reddit user rachel-angelina noted that previous lines for this scenario now belong to Ascended Astarion. The Redditor explained: “I personally think this is a great differentiation and makes more sense for his character, the dialogue that was there before always seemed like it was meant for ascended.” In confronting the player about the affair, Astarion now questions whether they can be trusted. A particularly cutting line will see him state: “Even I deserve better than this.” While Astarion may accept an apology, apparently only Tavs who pass a “charisma check” will wind up back in his good graces. BG3 players in the Reddit thread agree that Spawn Astarion’s updated dialogue options seem more appropriate for this version of the character. Said one such fan, “I like the job they’re doing differentiating spawn and AA. This dialogue suits spawn very well!” Others are applauded Larian for highlighting Astarion’s growth: “‘I see everything I’ve been trying to escape in you’ damn. They’re really expanding on his growth.” And some seem especially pleased that the new options give the beloved BG3 character standards. “Finally! I knew it in my gut my boy had standards,” someone chimed in. A similar comment reads, “Absolutely love this addition, he has standards after all.” It seems Baldur’s Gate 3 characters still have some growing to do. Whether or not Larian will continue to explore as much in post-launch patches remains to be seen.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Soul Coins: What they are & all locations – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 Soul Coins: What they are & all locations Larian StudiosSoul Coins are a mysterious resource you’ll find while playing Baldur’s Gate 3, but their exact purpose may not be immediately obvious. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can start collecting Soul Coins early on, with the first few being available in Act 1. These rare items are actually quite useful if you are playing with Karlach as an Origin character or companion. So, with that in mind, here’s exactly how you can get every Soul Coin in Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as what to use them for. What are Soul Coins in BG3? In Baldur’s Gate 3, Soul Coins are a rare and valuable currency and power source used by devils and their cohorts in the Nine Hells. They are made of infernal iron and are created when a mortal soul is bound into a coin. This gives Soul Coins a unique connection to Karlach, as the tiefling has spent some time in Avernus and, as a result, can use them as a power-up. They first appear during an optional early side quest, and once you become aware of them, it’s important to obtain Soul Coins whenever you can, as they can be extremely helpful in the later stages of the game. All Soul Coin locations There are 19 Soul Coins for players to obtain in Baldur’s Gate 3 across all the Acts. They can be found in dungeons, tombs, and more. Here’s how to get every Soul Coin in the game: Act I Act II Act III How to use Soul Coins to power up Karlach Soul Coins can be consumed to trigger Karlach’s special ability called Infernal Fury, which adds 1d4 Fire damage to her weapon and unarmed attacks. However, this condition can only be activated when she’s raging or when her HP is below 25%. Note that, because of their connection to the Barbarian’s Rage mechanic, Soul Coins will be less useful if you respec her into another class and won’t help at all if you make her a spellcaster. For story reasons, they cannot be used by other characters, even if they are Barbarians. Consuming a Soul Coin grants the Infernal Fury condition until the next long rest. This makes Soul Coins particularly useful for major battles where every extra bit of damage helps. Keep in mind that the set number of Souls Coins available in the game means you only have a limited number of uses for Infernal Fury even if you collect them all, so be smart about using them. That’s everything you need to know about Soul Coins in Baldur’s Gate 3. For more content on the game, check out more guides like the best classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 and the fastest ways to gain XP.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 soars to second biggest PC launch of the year – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 soars to second biggest PC launch of the year Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is finally here. While early access has been live for more than three years, the game’s official launch has now catapulted it through Steam Charts as thousands jump in with the finished product. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the most hotly anticipated games of the year and excitement for launch has been ramping up over the past few months. Larian Studios have constructed an intriguing albeit tight pre-release hype train of bear sex and villain reveals. The game wears its horny heart on its sleeve to the point where even its own writers are taken aback. The age-old adage has proven true though, sex sells, and so does Baldur’s Gate 3. Credit where it’s due, Larian’s game is a massively deep RPG with unparalleled freedom of choice and that’s obviously contributed to its success. So much so that Baldur’s Gate 3 is now officially the second biggest launch on Steam thus far in 2023. How many people are playing Baldur’s Gate 3? 471,897 players were logged in at the game’s 24-hour peak according to SteamCharts, and the day isn’t over. It currently sits behind only Hogwarts Legacy and ahead of Sons of the Forrest in this year’s top three launches. At the time of writing, it has Steam’s second-highest number of concurrent players, eclipsed only by CS:GO. Just shy of half a million people are currently adventuring through the Forgotten Realms. It’s an impressive feat that’s not lost on fans of the game. “It would be only fair to remind everyone Hogwarts Legacy had one of the biggest marketing campaigns in years,” one Twitter user said. “Baldur’s Gate 3 on the other hand is relying almost exclusively on word of mouth.” Others in the comments were promising to bump these numbers before the day is out. “Day job people like myself are about to make this number jump!” one said. “Once I get off work, that number will go up by at least one!” vowed another. There’s no hard data on scores for Baldur’s Gate 3 yet thanks to a tight pre-release media window but reviews in progress praise its intriguing stories and captivating gameplay. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players share the game’s “smallest annoyances” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players share the game’s “smallest annoyances” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have shared the minor annoyances that still need to be addressed in the popular CRPG. There’s no denying that Baldur’s Gate 3 counts among the most celebrated games to launch in 2023. Critics and players alike have lauded everything from its story and characters to the gameplay and continued post-launch support. No game is perfect, however, and the same holds true for Larian Studios’ Game of the Year-winning opus. As such, players have taken it upon themselves to outline some of BG3’s trouble spots, specifically the minor annoyances that tend to get under their skin. Players outline the small annoyances in Baldur’s Gate 3 A user on the BG3 subreddit asked fellow fans about their “smallest annoyances” with the game. The original poster shared a few of their own, calling out things like the inaccurate use of parchment paper in Act 3. Minor gripes shared by other players include the function of doors on PC. One person wrote, “Doors. Especially on PC when I click past a door, I want to go past it. Not open it. Or close it.” Someone else chimed in to note their frustrations with persuading or intimidating guards. Apparently, convincing a guard to let you access a restricted area doesn’t keep your companions out of trouble. And when the companion raises the alarm, it’s logged as an offense on the player’s part. The original poster agreed, “The crime system definitely still needs a lot of work before it’s working properly.” Another player argued that combat camera angles could still use some refinement. “I can’t stand the camera angles during combat. Character attacks. Game: Let’s take a hardcore zoom in of the ground…” Other Baldur’s Gate 3 players detailed even smaller annoyances, with one saying Bards should be able to play piano props located across the world. Elsewhere in the thread, a fan brought attention to an issue that plagues countless RPGs and open-world games – the inability to share wealth. They specifically recalled meeting a woman in Act 3 who needs gold for their sick kid, yet players “can’t even donate one coin.” Since Larian continues to support Baldur’s Gate 3, at least some of these grievances may be resolved over time.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 shows off new endings coming in Patch 7 and they may be the darkest yet – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 shows off new endings coming in Patch 7 and they may be the darkest yet Larian StudiosLarian Studios has revealed the first clips from two of the promised new evil endings coming in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7, and they are unsurprisingly dark. Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios has shared more information on Patch 7 and the long-promised improved evil ending cutscenes it’s set to add. In a community update posted on Steam, the developers said “We’re working on our next game update, Patch 7, which will add improved evil endings to the game for even darker conclusions to your most sinister playthroughs, and yes, that includes you non-Durge players.” They also shared two clips to give players an idea of what to expect. The first shows a figure, who appears to be the default Dark Urge, standing before a kneeling crowd and snapping their fingers to create some powerful-looking magic. It then cuts to a shot of the players’ victims in pain. The second is more vague but incredibly atmospheric. It shows the default Dark Urge walking in front of a red sky with the sun blocked out, surrounded by bones and body parts. Larian also revealed the new ending cutscenes “have also been given the musical treatment by our very own BAFTA award-winning composer, Borislav Slavov” and shared a sneak peak of the new song, “March Of Darkness.” The new content is certainly great news for players who enjoy walking on the dark side, and the fact that the endings are just focused on the Dark Urge is exciting too. As for when to expect Patch 7, Larian doesn’t give a release window. However, they did announce a closed beta on PC to test the patch’s many changes – including official modding tools – and said info on that should be announced “in the coming weeks.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you let Astarion drink your blood? – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you let Astarion drink your blood? Larian StudiosMaking choices is a significant part of the RPG experience in Baldur’s Gate 3, particularly when it comes to Astarion and his request for blood. This guide examines the pros and cons of this decision. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game with a huge scale which means you’ll be interacting with many NPCs who provide quests and choices that affect your journey. One such choice that you will face in the game is Astarion trying to drink your blood at one particular time. As it happens there are a few things you have to consider when it comes to making this choice as there are a few pros and cons to it. Is it worth letting Astarion drink your blood in Baldur’s Gate 3? The answer to whether it is worth it to let Astarion drink your blood in Baldur’s Gate 3 is complicated. This is because it will ultimately depend on the player as there are a few pros and cons pertaining to this situation. Firstly, in order for this situation to arise, you need to go to your camp after meeting Astarion for the first time. If you let him drink your blood, he’ll start trusting you more and his romance options will be enabled. Apart from that, Vampire Bite will be unlocked in his arsenal. However, letting him drink blood will lead to a debuff called Bloodless. If you let Astraion drink too much, it will lead to the death of your character. You can obviously revive yourself, but it is one of the few situations that can arise. You can also deny Astarion from drinking your blood. This will lead to him getting displeased about the whole situation. He will instead go hunting and drink blood regardless and unlock Vampire Bite. Lastly, you can drive a stake inside Astarion’s heart if you want. This will lead to his death which will put an end to his questline. This concludes our guide on whether you should let Astarion drink your blood or not. If you found it informative do not forget to check out some of our other guides at Dexerto. • Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you break Sazza the Goblin out? – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you break Sazza the Goblin out? Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is a pretty complex game and you will often have to make choices to define the fate of other characters. One such choice will come down to Sazza the Goblin where you can either save her or let her die. Here is a guide on what you should do in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most open-ended RPG games. This means a major section of the game will depend on the choices that you make. You can choose to save characters or let them die and that will impact the ending of the game. Decisions in Baldur’s Gate 3 have a butterfly effect which is one of the most fascinating aspects of this game. As such, one choice that you will come across is letting Sazza the Goblin live or die in the game. A guide on what you should do has been presented in the following section. Is it worth saving Sazza the Goblin in Baldur’s Gate 3? No, it is not worth saving Sazza the Goblin in Baldur’s Gate 3. This is especially true for a character who has a good alignment. This is because saving Sazza is considered an evil choice. Apart from that, siding with the Druids makes your life much easier than deciding to join hands with the Goblins. Apart from that, none of your party members will approve if you decide to join hands with Goblins. In fact, most of the party members will feel disgusted the moment you decide to save Sazza. Therefore, it is pointless to try to save Sazza the Goblin. Lastly, saving Sazza does not have any impact when it comes to the decisions and choices of Goblins. However, if you are interested in saving Sazza then it is better to do so in an evil character. This is because your character will feel good about it and will have no impact on what the rest of your party members think about the decision. This concludes our guide for Sazza the Goblin in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you found it informative please check out some of our other guides at Dexerto. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players split on why Shadowheart is the ‘most romanced companion’ – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players split on why Shadowheart is the ‘most romanced companion’ Larian StudiosThough Shadowheart counts as the most popular romance interest in Baldur’s Gate 3, fans can’t seem to agree on why. In December 2023, Larian Studios shared several interesting stats related to Baldur’s Gate 3. The information confirmed what many had long suspected – Shadowheart constitutes the most popular love interest, with 51 percent of players reaching the end of her romance arc. Of course, the numbers could be somewhat skewed considering the amount of people who’ve played through the game more than once. But, still, Shadowheart’s winning over 50 percent of the player base is nothing to scoff at, especially given the competition from other companions. When it comes to why so many easily fall for the half-elf, fans can’t quite pin down what makes her so alluring. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans debate of popularity Shadowheart romance Reddit user codefinbel wrote a lengthy post explaining why they believe Shadowheart‘s such a popular love interest. The Redditor first pointed out the “most obvious reasons;” for one, they think BG3’s audience predominantly comprises straight men. Secondly, they argue her popularity could be due to the fact that she’s one of the first companions the game introduces. However, the player notes there could be another explanation that few have considered – “Shadowheart is the only ‘human-looking’ female companion and the only ‘traditionally’ female companion.” They continued, “All the other [female companions] have strong traditionally masculine attributes.” Fellow fans seem to disagree with this thinking about Baldur’s Gate 3’s Shadowheart romance. One of the most upvoted replies, which has more likes than the original post, says the “whole event sequence is very natural with Shadowheart.” The commenter further argues that Larian Studios went out of its way to make Shadowheart easy to romance. Someone else pointed out that she basically tells players how to win her over. An even more popular comment joked, “Dude wrote a whole book, it is simple: EMO CHICK WITH DADDY ISSUES.” Others chimed in with more thoughtful theories. Someone who echoed the ‘she’s easy to love’ sentiment added that it’s not just straight men who love Shadowheart – lesbian and bi women prefer her, as well. The user explained, “Bi and lesbian women also love Shart (she might as well be an OC by a closeted bi 14-year-old who’s really into Evanescence) which I think is a big reason why she isn’t just the most popular romance but has the simple majority behind her.” Those who align with this thinking argued Shadowheart’s voice also made her especially appealing. Whatever the reason for the Shadowheart obsession, it seems there are myriad explanations for why her romance is worth pursuing.

  • How to romance Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto

How to romance Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosShadowheart is one of the most iconic companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 but to romance the powerful Cleric, you need to learn about her past as a Shar worshiper and help her turn away from the darkness. With so many different companions around you in Baldur’s Gate 3, choosing who to fall in love with can be pretty tricky. However, in this case, you’ve likely chosen to get into Shadowheart‘s good books and attempt to fall in love with this dedicated Cleric. As it is in real life, falling in love with someone is no easy task. They have to like you first and, in terms of a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to perform actions they approve of. So, to help you convince Shadowheart you’re worthy of her attention, here’s how to fall in love with her. Warning: Spoilers ahead How to gain the approval of Shadowheart? You need to take actions that Shadowheart approves of to be able to romance her in Baldur’s Gate 3. To do this you need to know about the things she approves of: Rolling successful persuasion and deception checks. – Not resorting to violence but using manipulation and trickery instead. – Helping people in need such as children, animals or refugees. – Showing distrust in the Githyanki by not siding with them in dialogue options. – Allowing her to express her faith in Shar and approving of it. – Respecting her boundaries and not being nosy. – Most of the romances in Baldur’s Gate 3 start in your Camp, so head there often and make sure you chat with Shadowheart as much as you can especially when she has an exclamation mark. You’ll also want to bring her along in your party, that way she can approve of your actions and your romance will begin. Shadowheart romance progression: Act 1 The first time you will encounter Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 will be aboard the Nautiloid as the game begins. Use your Illithid powers to save her and accept her into your party. – Once the ship crashes, you will find her near the coast. Do not take the item she has on her and continue to keep her in your party to gain her approval. – As you progress through the game, there will come a point where you will have to save Druid’s Grove. Gain a significant amount of approval from Shadowheart before saving Druid Grove. – Once Druid Grove is saved and everyone is in camp, approach Shadowheart and choose the following prompts: – Tieflings? – Are you worried Shar won’t approve? – I’d be glad to. (if she asks to share a drink) – I’ll find you after everyone’s turned in for the night. – 5. Finally, once the conversation is over, head to bedroll after which you will have the option to either sleep alone or with Shadowheart. Picking Shadowheart will finally end the romantic scene with Shadowheart in Act 1. Shadowheart romance progression: Act 2 The pivotal moment for Shadowheart’s romance in Act 2 revolves around your decision regarding the Nightsong. Depending on whether you spare or kill the Nightsong, the path of your relationship with Shadowheart will diverge in two different way. Aligning with Selûne If you decide to spare the Nightsong, Shadowheart’s storyline will align with Selûne after which you will notice that Shadowheart has changed her hair color mentioning that she wanted to try something new in Selûne’s honor. Support her decision by saying that you love it which will trigger a kiss scene with Shadowheart. Aligning with Shar If you choose to kill the Nightsong, Shadowheart’s storyline will align with Shar. After this, Shadowheart will change her hairstyle, which she will explain is closer to Lady Shar’s style. Similar to Selûne, compliment her look to deepen your relationship with Shadowheart. Shadowheart romance progression: Act 3 In Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, your journey to romancing Shadowheart continues, culminating in significant and emotionally charged scenes that depend on the path you chose for her in Act 2. Aligning with Selûne After finishing Shadowheart’s Companion Quest, look for an exclamation point over her head indicating she wants to talk. – After speaking to her, she will mention feeling the Shadowfell presence making her feel unclean. Reply with “So what do you want to do about it?” – She will then ask for your help and will bring you to the beach. – She will then ask you to get in the water and you can reply with “There’s easier ways to get me naked, you know” or “You first.” – This will then lead to a romantic scene with Shadowheart in the water. – Aligning with Shar After finishing Shadowheart’s Companion Quest, look out for an exclamation point over her head and talk to her. – She will talk about the upcoming battle and the possibility of not having another night like this. Choose any option for the first prompt and then select the following: “Why me?” and “As you wish.” – After the conversation, proceed to your bedroll to trigger the next scene with her. – She will then ask for your help and take you to an Idol of Selûne. – Use the following dialogues one after the other: “What’s that? More wine?”, “Not at all. So now we feast?”, “Kiss her.” – This will then lead to a kissing scene with Shadowheart with the camera panning to the statue of Selûne to end the scene. – So there you have it, that’s how to romance Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you’re willing to romance other companions as well, check out if you can romance multiple companions. • Bizarre Baldur’s Gate 3 bug reveals Shadowheart’s “true name” – Dexerto

Bizarre Baldur’s Gate 3 bug reveals Shadowheart’s “true name” Larian StudiosIn a dialogue exchange with Ketheric Thorm, one BG3 player found a hilarious bug that gives Shadowheart a different name. An Origin character in Baldur’s Gate 3, the high half-elf known as Shadowheart quickly became a fan-favorite companion. Players meet her early in the game during the Prologue, and, over time, she reveals herself to be a dominant combatant on the battlefield and a friend well worth having. Shadowheart additionally makes for an intriguing love interest. However, fans may not know everything about the half high-elf. While she was named Jenevelle Hallowleaf at birth, one BG3 player has discovered another name Shadowheart will answer to. Text of a conversation between Ketheric Thorm and Shadowheart shows the former asking for the companion character’s name. The answer he receives is pretty shocking. “I’m called [GEN_PlayerName…],” the text reads in part. Reddit user Heldhram shared a screenshot of the code error, joking that it may reveal “Shadowheart’s ‘real’ name.” BG3 players in the Reddit thread have found the Shadowheart bug hilarious. One person joked, “The first part is pronounced the same. The second part, well maybe it’s elvish.” Someone else remarked that it must be her “True Name.” Elsewhere in the Reddit thread, someone quipped that the original poster “found the secret ending where she turns into a fully digital being and assimilates the Sword Coast.” This is far from the first of BG3’s hilarious Shadowheart glitches. One player found a bug wherein Shadowheart’s portrait in the sidebar is the only one that looks out of place. Instead of her usual pose, the character’s head appears tiny and she eerily looks directly at the camera. Players have also encountered an issue preventing them from breaking up with Shadowheart. However, others have wondered why anyone would want to do such a thing.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player desperate for Shadowheart breakup advice – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player desperate for Shadowheart breakup advice Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player has asked for help after Shadowheart refused to acknowledge their breakup. Players have the option to romance several companions in Baldur’s Gate 3, all of whom can fall pretty hard for the hero under the right circumstances. However, some love interests fall much harder than others. Minthara, for example, has proven difficult to walk away from, even for players who had no intention of romancing her. One person even claimed they tried cheating on her and killing her to no avail. After all the intentional heartbreak, she still only had eyes for a certain Tav. Shadowheart isn’t too different in this respect, either. According to Reddit user Key-Location3522, the half-elf is impossible to leave at the end of the game. When Shadowheart asks the player to meet her parents after the final battle, they decide a breakup constitutes the better course of action. Shadowheart agrees – but not really. The narrator later reveals Shadowheart spent months following the player’s character around. To make matters worse, the Redditor had no breakup option during the party scene at the end. “I tried to leave and she just pulled me in for a kiss. Why won’t she let me break up with her?” they asked fellow players. Numerous people in the comments were only interested in why the original poster wanted out of the relationship. The OP hasn’t provided an answer as of writing. Others merely poked fun at the Redditor for thinking they could “escape the goth girl.” As for why this particular Baldur’s Gate 3 player can’t break up with Shadowheart, the answer seems simple. They spent much of the game in a relationship with her, which lasted long enough for her to believe it was time to meet the parents. One person in the thread did offer an alternative, though. Shadowheart will end things with the player on one specific condition – they turn into a Mind Flayer. It’s not the best way to end a relationship, but desperate times call for the strangest of measures.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovers “saddest thing” in Shadow-Cursed Lands – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovers “saddest thing” in Shadow-Cursed Lands Larian StudiosA BG3 player who recently explored the Shadow-Cursed Lands shared details about “one of the saddest things” they encountered in the game. The Shadow-Cursed Lands in Baldur’s Gate 3 serves as the primary region for the second act. Notably, the area’s eponymous shadow curse wreaks havoc on the land and its surrounding areas, killing off all who come into contact with it. While some locales such as the Last Light Inn have protection from the deadly curse, players still struggle to navigate the territory unscathed. But potent environmental storytelling reveals the sad truth about the curse’s devastating effect on the locals. BG3 fan shares depressing discovery in the Shadow-Cursed Lands Reddit user IckyBB stumbled across a house near the Last Light Inn while exploring the cursed lands. Perhaps they were on the hunt for loot, but what they found instead proved rather heart-wrenching. The player entered a bedroom and came face-to-face with a pair of skeletons holding onto one another in a small bed. IckyBB called it “one of the saddest things” they’ve found in Baldur’s Gate 3 to date. A closer look at the screenshot they shared demonstrates why. The Redditor said what’s especially “heartbreaking” is that both skeletons wore rings whose item descriptions read, “A date was once inscribed on this ring, but most of it has since been worn away by time.” Several BG3 players responded to the shocking Shadow-Cursed Lands moment in the thread. One user noted, “They died in each other’s arms, they are the lucky ones.” Someone else agreed with the above sentiment, calling the sight “sweet.” They explained, “I actually thought this was kinda sweet… slowly dying to the shadow curse must suck, but some people at least got to do it cuddled up to a loved one, rather than alone and scared and writing increasingly miserable diary entries.” Further down the thread, another BG3 fan pointed out something even more painful about the implied scenario. Apparently, there’s another room in the house with a double bed, suggesting the pair lost their child and chose the kid’s room as their final resting place. This is one subtle story beat that Baldur’s Gate 3 players won’t soon forget.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Sex% speedruns return with Minthara as the star – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 Sex% speedruns return with Minthara as the star Larian StudiosNot even Larian could keep Baldur’s Gate 3’s horniest speedrunning category down. Sex% speedruns are back with a new paramour as the focus. In true Baldur’s Gate 3 fashion, fans of the title have been competing to see who can achieve the swiftest smash since shortly after its launch. The aptly named Sex% was even made an official category on speedrun.com. The record-breaking strategy for bagging a bang in the early game involved beguiling the notoriously down Lae’zel through acts of violence. Unfortunately, Larian seemingly put an end to Baldur’s Gate 3’s Sex% speedruns with a patch that dulled Lae’zel’s libido. This hasn’t stopped prolific Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner and Sex% record holder Mae from crusading for coitus. She’s uploaded a new run that shirks our Githyanki goddess in favor of Minthara. Coming in at an impressive 4 minutes and 17 seconds, Mae’s latest Sex% run is the stuff of legends. “Larian tried to patch out sex speedrunning. Unfortunately for them, we are not so easily deterred,” Mae boldly claimed in the video’s description. In this particular run, Mae immediately sets her sites on Minthara in an effort to lay with the lusty Lolth-sworn Drow. The strategy is largely similar to the Lae’zel method in that the player needs to annihilate the Druid Grove to mesmerize Minthara. Mae uses a combination of jumping and Feather Fall to haul her appropriately named character ‘Justice for Sex%’ to the Goblin Fortress. Speaking with Minthara to initiate her invasion, Mae avoids combat entirely by turning the Druids on the Tieflings with some thievery. After a long rest to skip the following encounter, Minthara is down for a dalliance. She offers herself to ‘Justice for Sex%’ and Mae’s run concludes. Unfortunately for Mae, this run is more than two minutes longer than her previous record with Lae’zel. Still, with some optimization, it’s entirely possible that she’ll claim a new record for the fastest fornication in Baldur’s Gate 3’s Sex% speedrun category.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 sex speedruns in jeopardy as Patch #4 makes Lae’Zel less thirsty – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 sex speedruns in jeopardy as Patch #4 makes Lae’Zel less thirsty Larian StudiosPatch #4 for Baldur’s Gate 3 has put sex speedruns in jeopardy after the developers made companion Lae’Zel far less thirsty than in previous versions of the game. Players can do a lot of different things in Baldur’s Gate 3. Whether that be experiencing the choice-rich story, testing out different weapons or builds, or even going on a murderous rampage throughout the land. Of course, there is a slightly more explicit side of Baldur’s Gate 3, one that has captured the hearts of the internet. Getting busy with your fellow companions is one of the greatest pastimes in Baldur’s Gate 3, not only do you get a spicy cutscene but you also receive the gratification of someone else’s love. That is unless you’re a Baldur’s Gate 3 sex speedrunner, in which case you’re trying to get in and out of bed as fast as possible. Speedrunners have developed a strategy to bed Lae’Zel early on in the game, making for a ridiculously fast time. However, the developers have placed this strategy in jeopardy with Patch #4. Patch #4 brought a huge amount of changes to the popular RPG, fixing up many of the bugs and glitches that have crept through since launch. However, one of the biggest changes has been to Lae’Zel and the ability to romance her. Now instead of just getting a high enough approval to sleep with Lae’Zel, players will have to prove their worthiness based on their actions. This essentially ruins sex speedruns for players, as they’ll no longer be able to skip straight to the sacred act. With the patch only just being released, speedrunners will need to find a new companion to get busy with, but with how fast they discover new strategies, it’s likely we’ll see a new strategy developed in the near future.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 sex speedruns are taking over and the record is already under 8 minutes – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 sex speedruns are taking over and the record is already under 8 minutes Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are pushing themselves to the limit in an endeavor to bag the quickest bang. The record will be tough to beat but we encourage you to try. Just when you thought Baldur’s Gate 3 and its dedicated fans couldn’t get any hornier, they go ahead and make Sex% an official speedrun category. This probably shouldn’t surprise us given it’s the bear sex game with awkward macrophiliac kissing but here we are. The same player who managed to zip through the game in under 10 minutes has used their considerable skill to answer the big questions. The first being: how quickly can you seduce and copulate with one of the game’s companions? The answer is a stunningly swift seven minutes and 54 seconds. The sultry speedrunning strat involves slick spellcraft, a wily wizard, and everyone’s favorite grumpy Githyanki Lae’zel. The video they published shows speedrunner Mae barrel through the opening moments of Baldur’s Gate 3. Skipping cutscenes at lightning pace and bounding over anything unbangable, they make it their mission to get laid by Lae’zel. Using some crafty camera maneuvers and the Mage Hand cantrip, they’re able to sequence break and trigger the final moments spent on the Nautiloid. Hitting the Ravaged Beach running (well, leaping) they bounce to their boo. Pacifying the Teiflings who have Lae’zel captive, Mae blasts her out with some magic missiles before being sidelined by a mandatory Goblin fight. After an excruciating wait, they’re back into it. Finally, Mae forces the Tieflings in town to bow down to the Githyanki goddess leaving her most pleased. One long rest later and a lusty Lae’zel is cruising the camp for coitus to which Mae graciously obliges. Lae’zel seems an odd choice for a flight to fornicate, given her documented dourness and prickly personality. Still, it’s well-known in the Baldur’s Gate 3 community that this wanton warrior is notoriously down. Only one other player has braved Baldur’s Gate 3’s most sweaty of speedruns but they’ve not come close to Mae’s efficiency. Second place sits at 17 minutes and 42 seconds but we expect the leaderboard will fill up promptly.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Sex% speedrunner sets outrageous new world record – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 Sex% speedrunner sets outrageous new world record Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunning category tasks players with seducing Lae’zel as quickly as possible – and the latest record is shockingly fast. Baldur’s Gate 3‘s infamous Sex% speedrun category has a new record. In the week since the category was created, the record for the fastest time between starting a new save and getting hot and heavy with Githyanki companion Lae’zel has been broken several times. The original record by Mae clocked in at just under eight minutes, but subsequent runs have slashed that time in half. The latest record manages to make that look like a slow-burn romance, as one player was able to take Lae’zel to their bedroll in just over two-and-a-half minutes. Baldur’s Gate Sex% speedrun record is down to 2:35 A YouTube video posted by hears shows the run in all its glory. It starts with the player dashing and jumping to make it through the opening section on the Nautiloid ship in just 38 seconds. After escaping the ship, hears is able to quickly make it to Lae’zel and intimidate the tieflings into letting them free her without a fight. What makes the biggest difference between recent records and the original speedrun is the ability to skip the battle in front of the Emerald Grove. By triggering the cutscene to start the fight from far away, the player isn’t dragged into the initiative order, allowing them to continue jumping until they make it inside the Emerald Grove. After that, the player is able to convince a tiefling to bow to Lae’zel, earning enough approval for her to propose getting to know each other better in Camp. From there, hears long rests, triggering the sex scene. This latest run shaves 15 seconds off of hears’ previous record, mainly in the Nautiloid ship section. With a time that’s far below what most players spend in the first area alone, it’s hard to imagine anyone being able to finish faster. Still, given that Baldur’s Gate 3 has only been out a couple of weeks and players have already been finishing the entire game in under 10 minutes, building Monks that can deal hundreds of points of damage per turn, and using Druids Wild Shaped into owlbears as weapons of mass destruction, there’s a good chance this record won’t stay on top for long.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players shocked by “heartless decisions” behind rare Scratch dialogue – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players shocked by “heartless decisions” behind rare Scratch dialogue Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are surprised to learn about rare dialogue lines from Scratch and the unthinkable actions that inspire them. One benefit of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Speak with Animals divination spell is the ability to converse with Scratch the dog. The pet companion’s voice lines range from heartfelt to adorable as far as players are concerned. However, not every Baldur’s Gate 3 fan has experienced the full breadth of the canine’s conversations. This is because some dialogue is only heard by those who return Scratch to an abusive kennel master. Reddit user kingy963 ignited such discussion when asking about “unique interactions most players miss.” They noted that “if you’re the worst human ever and choose to return Scratch to the kennels, upon your return he’ll ask you when you both can go home.” Scratch will respond with, “meant for what to happen? When are you taking me home” if players choose to apologize. Those who double down and say that the kennels are his home will be met with, “I want to go with you – master?” as well as repeated “master” calls when walking away. Baldur’s Gate 3 players who weren’t aware of this Scratch dialogue can’t believe anyone would even make such a decision. One response to the thread reads, “How does ANYONE ever see that? That requires like 3 different heartless decisions all in the same playthrough.” Another user said they didn’t know Scratch could be given away. “I just keep him in our camp all playthrough (don’t even bother to summon him because I don’t DARE expose the good dog to danger in battles),” they said. Meanwhile, someone else chimed in with, “This was information I wish I never learned.” And reading about the scene made one BG3 fan want to hug their own dog. If nothing else, it’s clear Scratch remains a fan-favorite character.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘s biggest problem stops players from finishing the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘s biggest problem stops players from finishing the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has one major issue in its final chapter that’s stopping players from completing the game despite the many hours of progress it takes to reach that point. There are a staggering number of character builds available in Baldur’s Gate 3, some of which can drastically change your run. This is a terrible thing for people who struggle to make decisions, as it’s tempting to keep giving up early on and start a brand-new adventure. These issues aren’t helped by a problem that crops up in Act III, when you finally reach the city of Baldur’s Gate, and the remaining story finally reaches its conclusion. A thread on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit explains why people struggle to complete the game. This is due to Act III being far too open and giving you lots of quests in a central location. The sheer number of tasks the game drops on you causes player burnout, where they’d rather start over than continue on. One user wrote, “Act 3 has you going from an absolutely insane buildup and boss battle with Ketheric into a sprawling city with what feels like an endless list of chores you have to do before you can continue onto the final boss. I still haven’t finished it.” “First playthrough. Kind of stuck in act 3 and don’t know what to do,” another user added, “It makes me not wanna play the game. There are moments where I am like I wanna play but every time I start the game and load into act 3 I’m like…nah…I’m lost and really wanna start again, but I do want to finish the game once.” One reason for the burnout is that it’s really easy to hit Baldur’s Gate 3’s max level cap in the early stages of Act III. This means that your characters stop progressing, so all you’ll be doing to improve your characters is finding magic items, and that’s nowhere near as satisfying. Not everyone hates Act III of Baldur’s Gate 3, as it has its supporters. It’s just a huge stumbling block for a lot of people, who’d rather go back and escape from the Nautiloid for the umpteenth time than actually stop the main villain.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 Runepowder Barrel: How to get the most powerful explosive – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 Runepowder Barrel: How to get the most powerful explosive In Baldur’s Gate 3, if you’re looking for a way to overcome enemies without conventional attacks, the Runepowder Barrel is an excellent choice. This guide will show you how to acquire it. With many spells and several abilities at your disposal, adding a straightforward yet formidable explosive like this to your arsenal can be game-changing in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you like that line of thinking, we have something special for you. This is perhaps the most destructive force you’ll find in your time in Faerun. However, getting your hands on the whole Runepowder Barrel will require you to be a little devious. Here’s how to get the equivalent of a nuke in the game. How to get the Baldur’s Gate 3 Runepowder Barrel Getting the Runepowder Barrel is a little tricky, and will take a bit of ingenuity on your part. In order to get hands-on with it. Your opportunity comes during the Save the Grymforge Gnomes quest, which runs through Travel through the Underpass missions. You’ll have gotten to the point where you need to save True Soul Nere, who is buried under rubble. If you listen in on the gnome slave’s conversations while they try to clear the rubble, you can find out about Philomeen. She escaped a couple of days prior to your arrival, escaping to a hidden place she told the gnomes about, complete with some explosives that would help clear the rubble. In order to find her, go North East of the Underdark – Grymforge fast travel point: Once here, you will need to break how this encounter is supposed to go. When you talk to her she will threaten to explode the Runepowder Barrel. However, through dialogue, you can have her part with a vial, which will let you free Nere. We’re here for the whole thing, though. Once you’re in the conversation with her, you can switch to another member of your party. Have them hide and sneak behind Philomeen. To do this, use your most sneaky of companions – or use something like Misty Step to teleport behind. If you’re detected, Philomeen will explode the barrel and kill you. So, avoid that. After you have the barrel, you can swap back to the character in the conversation and finish it. Philomeen will not exclaim about the barrel being gone, and the game doesn’t seem to have a contingency for you taking the barrel. Indeed you’ll even get the Runepowder Vial out of it. What should you do with the Runepowder Barrel? You’ve heard of Barbenheimer, now why not try Bauldenheimer? You now have the power to level an environment into a world of flame for a couple of turns. What you do with that is up to you. Be wary though – as far as we know there’s only one of these in the game. (We will update this post if there are more). Thus you should only use it in a once-in-a-save situation. Choose your moment wisely. Also an important note, you’re only going to want to use this in a situation you can set up beforehand. This is not something you want to pull out in the middle of battle. Igniting the Runepowder Barrel will explode everything, including your entire team. We suggest you set it up, then split up your team and have three members stand really far away. Then have one character use a ranged weapon on it at the maximum distance away. The explosion deals 50-120 damage in an 18-meter radius, so will kill most things. How much can you sell the Runepowder Barrel for? The other use is to just sell the bomb. It will go for a pretty penny too. You can sell the Runepowder Barrel for 2,500 gold. The only real challenge will be finding a vendor with that much cash on hand. However, if you find one – congratulations, you are now a nuclear arms dealer. We’ve no idea if handing some unknown NPC their own personal nuke could have consequences later in the game though. It’s feasible! Dealing with advanced weaponry is a complex game so no promises it won’t bite you later. That should be everything you need to know getting this very powerful weapon. • Baldur’s Gate 3 run makes D&D player see true power of underused class – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 run makes D&D player see true power of underused class Larian StudiosA D&D veteran who started playing Baldur’s Gate 3 was blown away by the power of a class that they had previously neglected. The wide range of classes you can play as in Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the game’s biggest selling points. As an RPG, it lives or dies by how flexible it can be, and by how many meaningful choices players can make, so it’s natural that there are a lot of different ways to play. Still, that doesn’t mean that all classes are born equal. For every super-popular class like Sorcerer and Wizard, there are some underused classes, like Druid and especially Cleric, the least popular class in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 reveals the hidden strength of fighter class However, there are still ways for these classes to shine, especially if you’ve got one in your party. If you’re looking for a fighter, Lae’zel is definitely your best choice. Sure, you could technically respec any of your companions into whatever you want, but the Githyanki swords just hit different. One player was taken aback by just how strong Lae’zel was, saying: “I’ve been DMing for 5e for quite a while, but the group I play with has quite literally never rolled a fighter. I get it. They seem vanilla. Boring. In my first playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3, I didn’t use a fighter. But I always hear about how great they are so I decided to allow Lae’zel to remain a fighter. “I wasn’t impressed until a certain miniboss fight in Act 2 where she disarmed, tripped, action surged, attacked two more times, and pommel strike killing the guy in her first turn. I get it now.” Fighters aren’t the flashiest of the classes you can choose from, but they make up for that with raw consistency and damage. Once you get the chance to swing your sword twice in one turn, there’s no better feeling.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3’s fan-favorite romance partner rejects a lot of players – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3’s fan-favorite romance partner rejects a lot of players Larian StudiosLarian Studios just shared Baldur’s Gate 3 player stats, which reveal that a certain romance partner has a habit of turning people down. Love is in the air in Baldur’s Gate 3, with the role-playing title allowing users to woo a number of their companions – or at least attempt as much. And, thus far, it seems there are no adverse effects for those who try courting a party member. Players should be aware that some characters will turn down such advances, though. In fact, stats shared by Larian Studios show that one beloved character, in particular, has a habit of saying ‘no’ to would-be lovers. Astarion has rejected a lot of romances in Baldur’s Gate 3 In Community Update #23, Larian Studios unveiled player stats that cover the period through BG3’s launch weekend. The stats highlight a number of interesting details, walking readers through the top Class choices, number of hours played, and so on. What some may find especially interesting is a bit of information concerning Astarion, a Companion who’s stolen the hearts of many players. But it seems he isn’t always inclined to give up his in return. Based on the information from Larian, Astarion has rejected “almost 100,000 players.” It seems someone definitely knows what they want. When turned down by the High Elf, users either steer their affection towards Shadowheart or Gale. Astarion is a dashing rogue that anyone would be lucky to have, but, hopefully, the recipients of his many rejections aren’t too upset about the Baldur’s Gate 3 romance gone wrong. After all, there are plenty of other fish in the sea – or companions in the travel party, rather. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how these stats continue to stack up in the weeks and months ahead, especially once the RPG hits PS5 on September 6.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player confused by third-wheeling Gale – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player confused by third-wheeling Gale Larian Studios / zephyr_usDue to a weird bug, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player had their epilogue romance ending interrupted by Gale arriving uninvited. For many Baldur’s Gate 3 fans, the romance they build with their Tav’s love interest counts as an essential part of the experience. Some players have faced tougher experiences than others in this respect. In the past, one user had to contend with Shadowheart refusing to acknowledge a breakup request. Minthara has also proven difficult to part ways with, according to Baldur’s Gate 3 fans. But a Redditor named zephyr_us encountered a different kind of conundrum when trying to enjoy romantic epilogue scenes with Shadowheart. For some reason, Gale “third-wheeled” the entire ending sequence, hanging around in the background as if he were a natural part of the scenery. “I was looking forward to a tender moment with Shadowheart, but I couldn’t escape from Gale’s disapproving looks,” the Baldur’s Gate 3 player said of the wizard’s constant intrusions. Joke one person in response to the post, “Gale just standing there, thinking about Mystra. ‘She used to hold me like that.’” In the comments section, the Redditor clarified that it seemed to be a bug stemming from their time playing co-op with three friends. The player explained, “I was in a 4-person co-op game, and my friend’s character who had romanced Gale had just finished their scene in the same room. I guess [Gale] didn’t take kindly to getting kicked out.” Fans continue to encounter odd glitches like this one when exploring the RPG. For instance, one BG3 player stumbled across a bug not too long ago that locked them in an endless hugging session with Halsin.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player faces toughest romance decision since The Witcher 3 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player faces toughest romance decision since The Witcher 3 Larian Studios, CDPRA Baldur’s Gate 3 player says choosing between Karlach and Shadowheart is the toughest romance choice they’ve made in a game since The Witcher 3. Selecting the perfect romantic partner in Baldur’s Gate 3 is no simple matter. Every NPC option brings something special to the table, unique qualities that one player may value more than others. The Astarion romance seems an especially popular love interest, though the likes of Shadowheart, Gale, and Karlach have stolen plenty of hearts as well. One Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared their struggles in this regard in a recent Reddit post. For them, the hard choice is between Karlach and Shadowheart, a decision reminiscent of The Witcher 3’s contentious love triangle. Baldur’s Gate 3’s romance choices remind players of Witcher 3 struggles Redditor Skelligean is still in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3 and has already found themselves caught between two potential love interests – Karlach and Shadowheart. The user says romantically aligning Geralt with either Yennefer or Triss in The Witcher 3 marked the last time romance options in a game hit them this hard. “Haven’t had such a tough time like this since Witcher 3 choosing between Triss and Yennefer. This is much more difficult though. Props to Larian for these well-developed strong female characters,” the user wrote in part. With The Witcher 3, lore from the previous games and the books factored into the decision-making for many. Some didn’t like that Triss had taken advantage of Geralt’s lapsed memory to finally have a chance with her friend’s lover, making Yen the easy choice. Others thought Yen’s questionable morals made Triss the best option for the monster hunter. But the advice given by some Baldur’s Gate 3 players says the Redditor can’t go wrong with the Shadowheart or Karlach romances. Thus, as one commenter stated, it may be wise to “Do one playthrough for each, both are great.” Someone else offered a bit more encouragement for this line of thinking, saying, “You’re still in Act 1 so you have a lot of time to figure out which one feels right for this run (you don’t have to lock in an official romance until Act 2). Plus, you can always do a second run and romance the other one there.” Whatever the player chooses, most would agree they’re in for a rich experience all around.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warned against storing items in ribcages – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warned against storing items in ribcages Larian StudiosA PSA from one Baldur’s Gate 3 player tells fellow fans that ribcages are not the ideal place to store items because of a glitch. Baldur’s Gate 3 players quickly picked up on a neat inventory trick not long after the game launched. The trick is that ribcages actually make for good storage items. Users can drop one into their inventory, and then pop items into it to conserve space. And since a single ribcage only bears a weight of 0.1, they prove lighter than other available storage options like burlap sacks. Unfortunately, it seems BG3’s ribcage method may not be the best practice for storing excess items for the time being. Baldur’s Gate 3 PSA: Don’t store items in ribcages A Baldur’s Gate 3 fan and Reddit user named lifeistrulyawesome learned the hard way that the light storage containers currently suffer from a devastating bug. BG3 characters can only hold one ribcage in their inventory at a time. Now, thanks to a bug, picking up a second ribcage will delete the previous one and every item it held inside. Talk about a quick way to clear up inventory space. The Redditor didn’t discover this glitch until after they’d already lost an important item because of it. They explained, “I learned this lesson the hard way. I was storing the clown’s severed members in a ribcage in my inventory. Now I will have to pickpocket the Spellmight Gloves.” According to several comments in the Reddit thread, the original poster isn’t wrong about this issue. Baldur’s Gate 3 players really are losing important items because of the ribcage inventory trick. One user wrote, “Seconding this. I lost a save that was ready to face the brain because Ketherick’s netherstone was stored in a ribcage that vanished… So yeah, I’m sticking to backpacks and pouches from now on.” Meanwhile, a host of other people seem surprised that ribcages can serve as storage containers at all. “Every day I hear about some completely deranged thing you can do in this game,” commented one such Redditor. In Baldur’s Gate 3 – and in real life – people would do well to avoid keeping their goods tucked away in ribcages.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 review – One of the best RPGs ever made – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 review – One of the best RPGs ever made Our Baldur’s Gate 3 review has been 125 hours in the making, but it’s finally here. The RPG is everywhere and everyone is talking about it. However, does the it live up to the hype? Well, in a word – yes. Every once in a while a game comes around and something shifts. It’s hard to define what factors have moved, but there’s this undeniable sense that something has changed. That the pantheon of gaming has a new title that will be referenced and revered for years to come. A new automatic entrant onto any Top 100 Games of All Time list. We’ve seen this in recent years with games like Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, Breath of the Wild, and The Witcher 3. The parallels between Baldur’s Gate 3 and CD Projekt RED’s fantasy epic are fairly staggering. Both come from a European developer releasing their third major fantasy RPG, after making two beloved but nicher games. Then, with the arrival of their third entry, they exploded into the mainstream. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 felt like it had even more hurdles. Would audiences embrace a proper cRPG, a notoriously finicky and PC-focused genre that hadn’t seen a major title release in it for years? I’m writing this, and you’re reading it, with hindsight. The answer is an unreserved, yes. However, Baldur’s Gate 3 is more than just a flavor of the month flash in the pan. It’s one of those titles that’ll shape the industry in the future and will undoubtedly have a lasting effect on players. To give up the gold early in this review – Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the great RPGs of the entire medium. Baldur’s Gate 3 – Key details Price: $59.99 USD | £49.99 GBP | $89.95 AUD – Developer: Larian Studios – Release date: August 3, 2023 – Platforms: PC – So, what is Baldur’s Gate 3? Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t so much a throwback to a long-dormant genre, as it is a wholesale revival. cRPGs were popular around the turn of the century with games like the previous two Baldur’s Gates, as well as the early Fallouts. The pulled-back nature of the camera made it so what was on screen wasn’t overly demanding, but these worlds were still enormous. They valued storytelling and player choice the most. They were essentially designed to function like a tabletop game, except the dungeon master and dice rolls were handled in an instant, rather than having to spend hours working out numbers-laden actions. Baldur’s Gate in particular has always been a franchise tied to those tabletop roots. That’s because it’s literally tied to Dungeons & Dragons. In many ways, that’s the way to look at Baldur’s Gate 3 – your very own D&D campaign, except this is a deeply curated experience helped in tandem by a freeing system that handles all the annoying things about actually playing a tabletop. It encourages you to try things out, come up with unorthodox approaches to problems, and, importantly, be goofy. This sense of exploration and play is at the heart of Baldur’s Gate 3. You’re empowered with a vast array of actions and it’s up to you to see what reactions come out of your devious imagination. It’s a delightfully freeing generator of watercooler-type stories as you and your friends who’ve played all talk about the various and ridiculous escapades you and your crew got up to the night previous The best D&D campaign you’ll ever play That’s the technical, but it’s only a part of what makes Baldur’s Gate 3 special. Indeed, the thing that’ll likely stick with you most throughout your time in Faerun is the intricate and malleable story that Larian has crafted. Again, this is a game that puts the player at the center of its action. The world can twist and contort in huge and significant ways. “A game where your choices matter” is a phrase that almost feels meaningless at this point. It’s a line that’s been echoed at countless E3 conferences and trotted out in various marketing materials to the point of feeling empty. However, it’s truer here than perhaps ever before. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a story where you’re consistently given decisions to make, while contending with various factions, all who think they have the answer you’re searching for. You start your journey captured by the tentacled-faced Illithids, and infected with one of their parasites, that in normal circumstances would have you turn into one of them in a matter of days. Baldur’s Gate 3 starts you there, and what unravels is an adventure that has you trying to stop a world-ending threat by any means necessary. How you’ll do that is very much up to you – and there’s a very real chance you’ll end up messing everything up along the way. That’s the beauty of it though. Your playthrough, which at a minimum, will take you around 80-100 hours, will have the feeling of being uniquely yours. One aspect that I think is important to note here is that perhaps what makes Baldur’s Gate 3 really work is that it’s distinctly weird. This could have been a straight-laced fantasy adventure about a gang of heroes trying to overcome a big evil. However, Larian has imbued the game with a joyful strangeness that has this very tangible DNA to it. You’ve likely heard about the bear sex scene, but that’s a drop in the ocean of eccentric situations you can get into. This is vital to the game’s success. This is a game that is playful, representative, and not afraid to put you in situations where you say, “Wait, can they do that?”. Because yeah, they can do that. What’s more, it shows other games should be more fearless in their promiscuousness and gleeful mischief. Party time Making up your time in Faerun are your companions who are as important as the story itself. Hell, I’d argue even more so. This group of characters is a delight to exist around. You’ll form various relationships with the characters, sometimes adversarial, sometimes romantic. However, no matter how it goes, it becomes a real delight. I had a better time with some than others, but I appreciated the nuance. If I had loved them all equally, it might have felt a bit one-note, however, there’s a wonderful variety. For instance, I grew to dislike Gale, but he added a nice wrinkle to my story. On the other end of the spectrum, Karlach is one of my favorite characters ever from a video game. She ended up becoming more the protagonist of my story than me – and I loved that. Larian has put together the best group of RPG friends to hang around since Mass Effect. Even then, it’s close. They’re all so different with their own complex problems. It’s a joy to experience victory and defeat alongside them. When you finish a game, and you realize you’re going to miss hanging out with the digital pals you’ve made over the last 100 hours, you know the development team has done an excellent job imbuing their characters with a heart and soul. Baldur’s Gate 3’s combat is a janky delight that may turn some off Where many might stumble in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the game’s combat systems. In Larian’s defense, this is a beautifully expanded version of both their previous work on games like Divinity: Original Sin 2, as well as trying to adapt Dungeons & Dragons 5e’s combat system. If you’ve played a tabletop game before, you know that combat can be a finicky affair. It’s turn-based, and while you can get very good at these systems, it never stops being just a little awkward. It can be all too easy to click the wrong thing, skip your turn, hit your ally, or some other blunder. There also isn’t a great way to practice your abilities. Many times, you are casting something for the first time and don’t know what’s going to happen. And there are a lot of spells, depending on your class, you’ll likely need to get your head around. The other issue is that at times, Baldur’s Gate 3 can be pretty frustrating. It can even be unfair. For example, you could be ready to fight, and then on the first move, you find out you’re too close to an environmental hazard right where you had to enter the room. Then it explodes and two in your party are down straight away. Baldur’s Gate can at times withhold vital information about a fight and can feel a little cheap. Don’t get it twisted though – your agency comes alive in fights However, this also can work in your favor. These systems allow you a lot of creativity in your approach. Baldur’s Gate 3’s player freedom is felt in the combat system. For instance, early in the game, I had a tough battle that I wasn’t sure I’d be able to win. Instead of a fight, I instructed all my companions to sneak around in the rafters above. I then projected a Mage Hand. Once it was in position, I pushed the big boss down a hole. Then I jumped down from the rafters, away from the other enemies and quickly traveled out. That kind of player freedom is rare, and it can be a real joy to mess around with. Combat feels janky and loose, but that does leave you a lot of wiggle room. While it can lead to some unfair situations, that you have to save scum your way out of, it also leads to those aforementioned water-cooler moments. There are these avenues to sit and talk to your friends about how a situation went for you. They’ll likely have tackled it differently. Or maybe they hit a spell that had a 5% success rate to kill a big boss. Or maybe they didn’t even have that situation due to their prior choices. Again, it all feeds into this sense of your playthrough being distinctly yours. A once-in-a-decade fantasy RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 does something very rare. I’ve not felt it since Mass Effect 3 – it’s a life-affirming game. It reminds you what camaraderie is, the benefit of friendship, the sinews of life. I know I’ve checked in with friends since playing. In the real world, especially as you get older, where it becomes harder and harder to remain tangible with those you consider friends, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a game that reminds you of that importance. On the other side of the coin, away from the sentiment, it is a game based on a janky edition of DnD and sometimes suffers due to its dedication to the systems that bind it. Combat can evolve in amazing ways, but it can fall apart similarly when things feel cheap or deeply unlucky. By the time I reached the end of my journey though, I felt fuller. In the end, is that not the point of the art we consume? As long as games like Baldur’s Gate 3 exist, we can be sure that video games are a fulfilling pursuit. That’s a lot of heartfelt sentiment, but Baldur’s Gate 3 is worth the superlatives. It’s a once-in-a-decade game and something you owe it to yourself to play, even if you don’t love fantasy settings or systems-heavy combat. It’s simply put, an experience that’s worth the drawbacks and is the definition of essential. The Verdict – 5/5 Larian has made a truly special game that will be talked about for years. It’s not only probably the best game in a year full of contenders, but it’s one of the best RPGs in a decade.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 reveals that the most popular character is also the deadliest – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 reveals that the most popular character is also the deadliest Larian StudiosAn infographic of stats for Baldur’s Gate 3’s first weekend shows Gale is the most popular Origin character – and also a dangerous companion to have around. Baldur’s Gate 3 has only been out for a week, but Larian Studios already has a massive critical and commercial success on its hands. To celebrate, Larian Studios has released a detailed infographic that puts Baldur’s Gate 3’s opening weekend into numbers. While there’s plenty of interesting information here, such as the most and least popular classes and races and the fact that players have already put over 1,225 years worth of hours into the game, perhaps the most fascinating tidbit is that the most popular Origin character is also responsible for quite a few player deaths. Gale is Baldur’s Gate 3’s most popular Origin character – and a leading cause of death According to Larian, 93% of players chose to create their own character, with the Dark Urge Origin counted among them. Gale was the most popular Origin character among the remaining 7%, with over 27,000 players selecting him. Karlach and Astarion are a bit behind with around 22,000 each, while Lae’zel is the least popular at a little under 12,000 players choosing her. Interestingly, Gale is also the 7th most common cause of player death. While no specifics are given, Larian jokes that “you only have yourselves to blame for being so flammable.” That, combined with a later stat revealing 12% of player deaths were caused by friendly fire, makes it safe to assume the wizard’s area-of-effect spells are to blame. The graphic doesn’t reveal exactly how many players have been victimized by Gale – or the body counts of any other companions. Still, the fact that Larian felt the need to call him out here indicates that intra-party killing isn’t as much of an issue with other characters. The rest of the information Larian shared is also interesting. Paladin is currently Baldur’s Gate 3’s most popular class by a decent margin, followed by Sorcerer and Warlock. The least popular class by quite a bit is Cleric, with the rest pretty evenly distributed. As for race, half-elf, human, and elf are easily the top three. Githyanki is the least popular, closely followed by the halfling. With the exception of the Dragonborn (which is at #4), it appears the more humanoid races are the most popular, while smaller and more monstrous options are chosen less frequently. Of course, these numbers are just from the very first weekend, meaning things could have changed already. Larian noted that it expects more players will pick up the Origin characters after completing the game with their custom ones, which was the case with Divinity: Original Sin 2. As more players get their hands on the game with next month’s release on PlayStation and existing ones start new playthroughs, it will certainly be interesting to see how things change – or stay the same.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 reveals new playable Origin character The Dark Urge – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 reveals new playable Origin character The Dark Urge Larian StudiosLarian Studios has detailed another brand new Origin character coming to Baldur’s Gate 3, with The Dark Urge. While Baldur’s Gate 3 has a robust character creator for players who want to build their own protagonist from the ground up, it also offers the option for fans to use an Origin character. An Origin character is essentially a playable hero already set with their own backstory, character traits, and perspective on the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, developer Larian Studios has now revealed a brand new, fully customizable Origin character known as The Dark Urge, for a new way to play through the grand RPG. Baldur’s Gate 3 details The Dark Urge character According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, The Dark Urge “embodies the darkest recesses of the moral spectrum.” Initially, it seems The Dark Urge is a dragonborn with a hulking frame and bone-white skin, though players can choose any of the 11 races when creating The Dark Urge. The Dark Urge seems to be for players who want to explore the darker, evil side of the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. The aim of The Dark Urge is simple: “to murder brutally and indiscriminately.” However, given this is an RPG with tons of player agency, those role-playing as The Dark Urge can give into those acts of violence throughout the story or attempt to resist them. The character’s backstory sees them beginning the adventure with memory loss thanks to a parasitic tadpole that affects the brain. With no memories of their past life, all The Dark Urge is left with is an insatiable urge to commit unspeakable acts of violence and horror. Additionally, The Dark Urge will have various unique dialogue option choices presented throughout the story should players choose to use this Origin character. Finally, the blog post confirmed that players who enter the role of The Dark Urge can still form relationships with — and even romance — party members, in spite of the character’s evil tendencies. Hopefully, those Baldur’s Gate 3 fans looking to walk in the shadows will find The Dark Urge intriguing when the full game releases on PC on August 3, 2023.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 reunites Frodo & Sam actors for chaotic fantasy adventure – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 reunites Frodo & Sam actors for chaotic fantasy adventure Larian StudiosThe Lord of the Rings actors Elijah Wood and Sean Astin have played Baldur’s Gate 3, embarking on a chaotic new fantasy adventure. Despite a single playthrough easily lasting over 100 hours, Baldur’s Gate 3 has become popular among streamers. This is helped by its massive character creator that people get lost in, copious amounts of adult content to react to, and the chaotic events that can result from tying everything to dice rolls. Many members of Baldur’s Gate 3’s cast have streamed the game, giving fans their unique insight into the production process. Most of these livestreams are still ongoing as of the time of writing, with many still making their way through Act I due to the sheer length of the story. It’s rare for people outside the gaming space to stream Baldur’s Gate 3, but two prominent actors known for their fantasy roles have gone on an unexpected journey into the Forgotten Realms. Frodo & Sam’s actors have played Baldur’s Gate 3 on stream A new video on the official Larian Studios YouTube channel recorded shortly after Baldur’s Gate 3 swept The Game Awards features famed The Lord of the Rings movie actors Elijah Wood and Sean Astin playing the game for the first time. While Wood and Astin may have played the heroic Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings movies, they took the chance to play villains in Baldur’s Gate 3. Wood played as a Halfling with The Dark Urge Origin, kind of like if Frodo had succumbed to the power of the One Ring. During their brief playthrough, Wood and Astin committed some horrific acts, such as killing a squirrel and letting the Deep Gnome attached to the windmill fly off to his fate. Astin also managed to kill another giant spider, making him two for two. The pair even had to deal with the Necromancy of Thay tome, pitting them against another mind-controlling artifact. Luckily, one old magic book isn’t exactly equivalent to the One Ring with Sauron’s might in it, so they were able to continue their journey without needing any volcano detours. It’s a shame that Wood and Astin only played a small part of the game, as a full stream where they complete Baldur’s Gate 3 would be awesome to behold. Get Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan on board as well, so they can batter the Absolute in the same way they did Sauron.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 restores players’ faith in turn-based gameplay – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 restores players’ faith in turn-based gameplay Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has managed to reignite many players’ love for turn-based combat with the strength of its combat. While combat is just one of several ways that players can approach problems in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s still a massively important part of the game, and Larian Studios put a lot of effort into making it as engaging as possible. While turn-based combat is an ideal fit for the rules of Dungeons & Dragons that Baldur’s Gate is trying to emulate, it’s not for everyone, and some players are always going to be skeptical of a different kind of fighting. This is why it’s so impressive that Baldur’s Gate 3 has been received so well, and it’s getting to the point where even players who weren’t sold on turn-based combat are coming around to the idea. Baldur’s Gate 3 player regains love for turn-based gameplay In a post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, one player admitted that “Baldur’s Gate 3 changed my stance on turn-based combat”, saying that the freedom of the combat made winning fights more satisfying. “I typically thought turn-based games were outdated but there’s something invigorating about taking on a fort with your companions and the rolls don’t critically miss and you win the day all because you chose to violently murder a person who disrespected one of your companions. I can explore and play at my own pace and it’s just a blast and I’m not even through the first act. It’s balanced but most enjoyable.” Another player proposed that Baldur’s Gate 3’s take on combat was so appealing because it didn’t reply on random encounters, and instead had bespoke fights for each interaction. They said: “Baldur’s Gate 3 made me realize it’s not turn-based combat that I didn’t like, but random encounters/respawning enemies. Turn-based can get tedious if you have to do it every 5 feet or every time you want to run to a vendor. I love that every encounter is scripted, quality over quantity.” For more news and updates on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out our rundown of the latest patch notes, including changes made to the Astarion romance.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players find ‘innocent’ way to recruit Minthara – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players find ‘innocent’ way to recruit Minthara Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player found a way to “innocently” recruit Minthara, though some may still consider the method immoral. While Baldur’s Gate 3 fans love Minthara and want more from her character arc, most aren’t thrilled about the way she joins the party. Essentially, players must help Minthara launch a devastating assault against the Tieflings and Druids in Druid Grove. Participating in the massacre ensures she’ll become a companion and potential romantic partner. However, this decision also sets the main character down an evil path that will turn other companions away. It puts fans who want to play heroically in a bad spot, especially if they’re also interested in exploring a future with Minthara. Interestingly, it appears one person found a so-called “innocent” path to bringing the Drow Paladin on board. Baldur’s Gate 3 fan says you can “innocently” recruit Minthara According to Reddit user Wulfrinnan, there’s a way to complete Minthara’s Druid Cove objective without the protagonist getting their hands dirty. Technically. Instead of killing the Tieflings or Druids, players can supposedly steal the idol as requested, then take off and let the two groups take out one another. Minthara will still give players the credit and join their ranks, but the actual slaughter is handled through other means. The Redditor explained: “…You can simply do what the tiefling kids ask you to do. Steal the idol to stop the ritual. Then, instead of picking a side and murdering some innocent people, you can leave. Just run away while the druids and tieflings kill each other. “Then you report the location to Minthara, she shows up, finds almost all of the defenders dead, and by the time you get yourself over there, you’ll find all the fighting done with. You never killed an innocent. You just (accidentally) lit the fuse.” Baldur’s Gate 3 players in the thread appreciate the tip but don’t feel this workaround for recruiting Minthara is actually any better than the usual route. One person wrote in jest, “Oh thank god. Desecrating cultural artifacts and framing children is much more my speed.” “I feel like the major issue is that these people still all end up dead and not having them around kinda sucks down the line,” someone else said. One user went so far as to call this route worse. “Honestly, I feel like this is worse. At least the other method has you being honest about what you’re doing. This method has you pretending to not be evil even though you very much still are.” Previously recruited companions won’t take kindly to the “clean-hands” approach, either. The original poster noted that Wyll and Karlach abandon ship regardless of the specifics. Players must decide for themselves how much Minthara means to them in the long run.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 record on pace to be eclipsed by viral banana-clicking game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 record on pace to be eclipsed by viral banana-clicking game Larian Studios/SkyBaldur’s Gate 3 is in serious danger of losing its spot on Steam’s top ten most concurrently played games of all time. The culprit is that game where you repeatedly click a banana… 2023 Game of the Year Baldur’s Gate 3 shocked even its own developers with its rapid rise to success. Shortly after its release, it rocketed up the Steam charts to claim ninth place in Steam’s top ten most-played games of all time based on its concurrent player count. Since the release of Palworld however, Baldur’s Gate 3 has hovered precariously in that tenth place. The latest contender is a game simply called ‘Banana’ which sees players repeatedly click a banana. That’s it. Banana is currently sitting at a concurrent player peak of 858,915, pushing ever closer to Baldur’s Gate 3’s 875,343. So, how did we get here? Well, we might have been a little reductive when we said that all you do in Banana is click on a banana. You certainly do click a banana over and over again but there are some layers there. After clicking the titular banana a certain amount of times, players are rewarded with a random special banana they can claim. Similar to skins on Counter-Strike 2, you can sell these bananas on the Steam Marketplace with some going for over $1,000 already. The promise of a potentially valuable banana has drawn players to the game in droves with its concurrent player count increasing by over 100,000 in the last week alone. At the time of writing, Banana currently has the most active players on Steam, eclipsing the usual top dog Counter-Strike 2. With only a further 16,428 players on top of its peak concurrent player record needed to oust Baldur’s Gate 3 from the top ten, it could just be a matter of hours before history is made.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 race has surprising downsides if you’re unfamiliar with D&D – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 race has surprising downsides if you’re unfamiliar with D&D Larian StudiosOne of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most popular races has a surprising consequence when you choose it for your protagonist, thanks to an element of D&D lore that’s incorporated into the game’s story. There are some races in Baldur’s Gate 3 considered to be OP, thanks to their amazing skills and combat abilities. However, there’s a much bigger factor in play when it comes to popularity, and that’s physical beauty, which is why humans are more popular than the Githyanki among players. The Drow race offers the best of both worlds. They are enigmatically beautiful elves with useful magical powers and weapon skills. It’s no surprise that many choose to venture into the Forgotten Realms as Seldarine or Lolth-Sworn Drow. There’s one problem with the Drow that people unfamiliar with D&D don’t realize: most people dislike or outright despise them. As discussed in a thread on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, this influences character reactions, especially when meeting an NPC for the first time. Many NPCs you encounter in Baldur’s Gate 3 outside of the Underdark (and a few when you’re there) will make negative comments to any Tav or Dark Urge who is a Drow. Those versed in D&D and Forgotten Realms lore know that many Drow reside in underground cities and are known for worshiping an evil spider goddess, sometimes invading the surface world. As such, many assume Drow to be wicked conquerors from the Underdark and will respond in kind. If you aren’t familiar with D&D lore, your reaction to the Drow might be shocking, as users in the thread pointed out. Luckily, the upsides of playing a Drow outweigh the negatives, so people aren’t deterred from choosing them. If Baldur’s Gate 3 adhered more closely to the lore of D&D, then NPCs would be much more violent and distrustful of Drow characters. Ultimately, the developers found a balance between showing the attitude towards the Drow without making them unplayable.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 QoL option makes it easy to miss this achievement – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 QoL option makes it easy to miss this achievement Larian StudiosWhat should be one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s simplest achievements is easy to miss, thanks to a QoL option involving food and Long Rests. While Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t a survival game, you still need to gather food and drink throughout your journey. A certain amount of sustenance is required before taking a Long Rest, which effectively stops players from spamming free heals and spell slot refreshes. Each food and drink item has a certain numeric value that you need for rest. This means you can manually pick what your party wishes to consume, letting players plan meals for role-playing purposes — even though it has no mechanical effect. You can also let the game pick your food, which is one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s best QoL options, as it speeds up the resting process. However, this can make it much harder to get the “Bottoms Up” achievement. The Bottoms Up achievement involves taking a Long Rest and only consuming alcohol to meet the food requirements. This is keeping with D&D players, who love for their characters to get drunk and cause mayhem, regardless of their alignment. As discussed by players online, if you use the QoL option to auto-select food, then you can easily miss this achievement, as the chances of the computer only selecting alcohol for a Long Rest are extremely low. Luckily, most Baldur’s Gate 3 players love to hoard items, so most parties will acquire the requisite amount of alcohol within Act I. All you need to do is quick save, get drunk in the camp, unlock the achievement, and then reload the save. You can then let the QoL auto-food select pick your meals for the rest of the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 proves unstoppable by cracking Steam’s top 10 biggest player-counts ever – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 proves unstoppable by cracking Steam’s top 10 biggest player-counts ever Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has had a prolific launch. The game has shattered expectations and now it’s broken onto Steam’s highest all-time charts for player-count. Baldur’s Gate 3’s stellar launch has propelled the game to ‘Phenomenon’ status. Players adore the unparalleled freedom of choice in the game and Larian’s pro-consumer attitude outside of it with their “Unfathomably based” take on microtransactions. Its smooth technical performance means it can even run on the Steam Deck showing just how much time and effort has gone into the final product. The game is so well-loved that it instantly exceeded the developer’s expected player count by over five times on its first day of release. Since then, it has only continued to blow up to over eight times their initial expectation of 100,000 concurrent players. This has rocketed Baldur’s Gate 3 into Steam’s top ten highest player peaks of all time. Baldur’s Gate 3 has already hit number nine in Steam’s all-time highest number of concurrent players with a peak of 814,666. Usually held by competitive online games with dedicated fan bases, a number of single-player titles have recently broken through to the top ten. Baldur’s Gate 3 now sits among giants like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, and Hogwarts Legacy. This achievement is sure to cement the game’s legacy and it will no doubt be in the conversation for game of the year in a few months time. Fans of the new release couldn’t be happier for Larian and have sounded off on Twitter congratulating the development team. “They deserve every aspect of it and more. So happy for them,” one user said. “It’s a really well-crafted game and it shows,” another replied. News of Baldur’s Gate 3’s success and positive reception is spreading. The game is now also the best-selling pre-order on the US PlayStation store ahead of its impending release on the platform. Baldur’s Gate 3 is already playable on PC and will launch for the PS5 on September 6 but owners of the Digital Deluxe edition can start playing early on September 3. There’s no telling whether the game will see the same success on PlayStation but in the absence of Starfield, PS5 owners may need an RPG to tide them over. Will Baldur’s Gate 3 be it?

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 plotline hinted in five-year-old D&D prequel adventure – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 plotline hinted in five-year-old D&D prequel adventure Wizards of the CoastBaldur’s Gate 3 players discovered a hidden hint about a character’s origins from the game’s official D&D prequel adventure, released in 2019. Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign that acts as a loose prequel to Baldur’s Gate 3, as it explains the origins of the Tiefling crisis and introduces characters who will be important in the game, like Duke Ulder Ravengard. A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit has discovered a familiar face in Descent into Avernus, as Duke Belynne Stelmane is named in the book. Her entry mentions how she suffered a seizure after an encounter with a mind flayer. This small reference would have huge relevance in Baldur’s Gate 3, as it refers to the Emperor and how they influenced Baldurian politics by using their psionic powers to influence Duke Stelmane and the mental struggle between them, which took a toll on the Duke. Baldur’s Gate 3 underwent many changes during development, such as the Nightsong’s design being totally reworked and one of the main villains being a potential companion. It’s unclear exactly how much of the original story remained in the final game, especially regarding the mind flayers and the Emperor’s identity. There’s a chance that the Duke Stelmane reference was originally something small that was expanded when the narrative direction changed, or maybe it was there the whole time as an intentional hint at a story beat that would take years to fruition. Whatever the case, Descent into Avernus has lots of little nods like this that people will notice in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s just a shame that Larian has confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t receive DLC, as that would have been the perfect way to follow up on the campaign’s events, with Tav facing off against Zariel, the Archduchess of Hell, among the fiery pits of Avernus, in a battle that caps off both storylines.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players wonder if the Emperor is as smart as he thinks – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players wonder if the Emperor is as smart as he thinks Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community has always been divided over the Emperor, but now they’re beginning to question his intelligence. The mindflayer chilling out inside the astral prism has always been one of the more enigmatic characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. From the moment he begins catfishing you as your guardian, the Emperor is always hiding information from you. Sure, he’s a useful guy to have on your team, and the mindflayer powers he can grant you are definitely worth the strange eye makeover, but there’s something about siding with an illithid that is giving a few players pause for thought, especially when they break down the exact elements of his plan. In particular, players aren’t quite sure how to approach the choice of dealing with Prince Orpheus, who’s also trapped in the prism, seeing as he is the only reason you’re not corrupted by the tadpole. Baldur’s Gate 3 players still don’t know what to make of the Emperor One player on the Baldur’s Gate subreddit claimed the Emperor was overselling himself, saying: “Both Orph and Empy require a leap of faith, even moreso if you’re siding with the Emperor. I always see the argument that choosing Emperor is apparently the pragmatist’s choice as he’s been ‘helping us’ right from the start. That without ‘metagaming’, there’s no reason to trust Orpheus. “But at that point of the game, there’s also NO reason to trust Emperor and his decisions when it’s revealed that he was being played like a fiddle by the Netherbrain the whole time! “He never had complete free will. He was an unwilling pawn to Netherbrain’s schemes all along. He’s NOT this brilliant grand strategist, puppet master pulling the strings as he liked to think himself as. All the Emperor made us do only served to make the Netherbrain stronger.” Another player pointed out that the Emperor’s reading material didn’t make for the most trustworthy companion: “One of my favorite things is when you go down to his hideout under the Elfsong and it’s just full of books like ‘how to deal with your loss of Morality’ and ‘how to make friends and influence people with your psychic powers.’”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players wish the Gods were more useful – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players wish the Gods were more useful Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are complaining about the Gods’ role in the game, as the evil deities spend most of their time messing with mortals and trying to take over the world, and the good deities barely appear. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans aren’t fond of the Gods in the game, as the ones who appear all have detrimental effects on the lives of the cast, regardless of whether they’re good or evil deities. The world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting called the Forgotten Realms. The Gods of Baldur’s Gate 3 are notorious for being very hands-on in this setting, being quick to appear in avatar form and interfering in the lives of mortals in an attempt to grow their power base. This has changed recently, with the gods becoming more distant in the D&D 5E era. The Gods’ over-attentive nature actually led to the events of the Baldur’s Gate series, as they were all transformed into mortals as a punishment for their behavior. This led to the death of Bhaal, the God of Murder, who foresaw his own death and created the Bhaalspawn as a means of returning, one of whom grew up to be the protagonist of the first Baldur’s Gate. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stand the Gods of the Forgotten Realms The Gods of the Forgotten Realms have become a talking point in a post on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit. Fans are complaining about how the Gods who appear in the game are jerks, with the evil ones all acting as major villains while the good ones don’t help out at all. Even Withers (a secret avatar of the former death God in Baldur’s Gate 3) is often unhelpful, charging exorbitant amounts of gold for his services. One user explains, “I think that the plot should have included more of the good Gods especially since the plot is literally the Dead Three trying to steal worshippers from other gods by reestablishing themselves and deprive all gods of worshippers.” Another user compares the deities to their portrayal in D&D, “Gods in dnd are not all-knowing, all-powerful or completely benevolent. And considering the amount of evil that happens in dnd, it makes more sense that way.” Ultimately, the role of the Gods is tied to having a narrative. If the good deities had more of a role, then there would be fewer cool things for the players to do. Meanwhile, having the Dead Three and Shar playing such prominent roles means that the protagonist has incredibly powerful beings to defeat rather than mortals. The Gods also played a huge role in the older Baldur’s Gate titles, with Bhaal’s return acting as the main driving point for the story. Baldur’s Gate 3 could have stuck with Mind Flayers as villains, but fans would have likely complained about it not being connected to the old games enough. Orin the Red’s role in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a huge shoutout to the older entries in the series, and the game is better for it, so the Gods should keep being jerks for the sake of the story.

  • Baldurs Gate 3 players wish “squidboy” NPC would just stop blabbering – Dexerto

Baldurs Gate 3 players wish “squidboy” NPC would just stop blabbering Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are coming together to share their joint hatred for one key NPC who just doesn’t stop talking. One of the main elements of the Baldur’s Gate 3 charm is its companions and NPCs. From the fan-favorite Astarion to the Devil everyone loves to hate Raphael, it’s hard not to adore the people your character comes to meet, despite how evil they might be. However, there’s one key NPC all players come across that often leaves many fans begging for them to stop talking – and the worst thing? He’s in your head from the very beginning. Baldurs Gate 3 players are begging for one key NPC to just stop talking Sharing their frustrations on Reddit, one user explained how they were “just doing Helsik’s ritual to break into the House of Hope, and the Emperor WOULD. NOT. SHUT. UP. about me wasting my time going to Avernus. I was originally only going there because I wanted some loot and XP, but now I might break Orpheus out on principle just because squidboy would not get off my damn tits. As a paladin, I feel spite should not motivate me as much as it does.” This sentiment is not unheard of among the community, with many arguing that The Emperor just gets more and more annoying as the story develops. Many fans used the frustration to question why there weren’t more options to explain themselves to The Emperor when dealing with the Illithid and Raphael: “I was surprised there was no rp path for “I literally wanted to kill Raphael the moment I met him. Chill bro.” Others echoed the point, detailing how: “I just wish we could tell him that we aren’t going there for the hammer, but to listen to Raphael’s theme song and get all the sweet loot.” The Emporer’s character development is an interesting one, with the relationship between the character and The Emporer being one of lies, deception, and manipulation. In the beginning, this NPC serves as your savior, and when you realize his true form, he opens up to you, leading many to trust him. Then, as Act 3 develops, this NPC feels more possessive and manipulative, with his nagging feeling incessant. It’s clear this annoying design was entirely intentional, with many stating how “The shift in him in act 3 was awful in a good way” and that the endless talking, pestering, manipulating, and mistrust only serves to split the minds of both the player and character.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players wish NPCs would stop walking into obvious death traps – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players wish NPCs would stop walking into obvious death traps Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is undeniably a very smart game, but not every NPC that populates the game has that same intelligence. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes in a game like Baldur’s Gate 3. Not only is it calculating all the different decisions the player is making, it’s also making sure that all the different mechanics and systems are working together, which is what gives the game its infamous flexibility. Sadly, not every part of the game is as smart as how it approaches player choice. While the NPCs scattered throughout the game’s three acts create one of the greatest and most complex stories in recent gaming history, they’re not the brightest. If you’ve been a bit creative with what Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to do, you may have noticed that NPCs don’t necessarily always notice when you surround them with explosive barrels and large spikes. Now, this works fine for people you want to die, but what if they’re allies? Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for NPC AI improvements In a post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, one player outlined the limits of the AI in an interaction with Minsc, who needs rescuing as part of Jaheira’s storyline. After exiting a cutscene with the NPC, he immediately runs into some unfortunately placed spikes that were summoned by the player’s Blade Barrier spell, killing him instantly. This prompts Jaheira to scold the player and threaten to kill them. While this again shows how many situations the game has unique dialogue for, it’s definitely not what you want to happen during a rescue operation. Here’s hoping the player saved recently. Baldur’s Gate 3 players wish characters were as OP as Divinity Original Sin 2 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are wishing their characters could be as overpowered as they were in the previous Larian title, Divinity: Original Sin 2. Baldur’s Gate 3, the latest title by Larian Studios has taken the gaming world by storm. Thousands of players are flocking into its vast world to create badass characters capable of destroying whatever enemies they may face. However, some Larian fans are looking back to the equally as popular title, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and wishing they could create a character as overpowered as they DOS2 offered. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans miss OP nature of DOS2 Sharing their thoughts on Reddit, one user explained how “BG3 makes me realize how OP the characters were in divinity.” They went on to share how “I love the combat, I knew like almost nothing about D&D but now I’m hooked, having to be smart with your spells and skills is super satisfying. I think back to divinity though, and damn, just casting spells however much you want, invis all the time, throw a 2 ton barrel at people with telekinesis however much you want. Gale would sh*t bricks seeing people cast magic in rivellon.” Essentially, the higher action economy of Divinity and the multiple available spells you can cast in one turn allow for an extremely powerful series of battles. After all, you are trying to become a god in Divinity Original Sin 2. Naturally, the post was met with an interesting discussion between fans, with many comparing the two combat systems. One user shared the ramifications of a more overpowered character, sharing how “It’s more broken but enemies are also more broken in divinity, two way street” in which the poster explained that they agreed, but highlighted “how crazy dos2 magic and power is comparatively.” Many explored the notion that they prefer DOS2’s combat, with one stating how “DOS2 combat is just more fun” and another explaining how they “prefer dos2 combat compared to bg3.” The same user went on to explain how in Baldur’s Gate 3, they “just found myself resting after every fight because I want to see the fireball obliterate everything” which can often take you out of the story. Along with the debate regarding the two combat systems, one user shared the difference between the two games, and how “the world of Divinity is far less restricted. All your abilities were tied to books. If you were good at pickpocketing or wealthy, you can learn almost anything.” Whereas in Baldur’s Gate 3, your character’s abilities aren’t always spellcasting, and the only spells you can get from pickpocketing are scrolls. Ultimately, with the two games being so different, comparing them is extremely challenging. They both have their positives and negatives and with the right build in BG3, you can certainly make an overpowered character.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warned not to forget about this key resource – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warned not to forget about this key resource Larian StudiosYou’ll find all sorts of resources you can use in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, just because some of them are rarer than others, doesn’t mean this key resource should be left out. Baldur’s Gate 3 throws a lot at you. Whether it’s getting mauled by a beast, cursed by a witch, or even brutally crushed by a boulder – there are just so many things that can go wrong when exploring every nook and cranny of Faerun. Even when you have the best companions by your side, the game can sometimes get pretty unpredictable. Due to all these challenges, it’s crucial for players to learn to manage their resources. While there is a wide range of resources in the game, one player on Reddit has voiced their opinion regarding a key resource that players shouldn’t forget about. Baldur’s Gate 3 player reminds players about key resource One player on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit posted a thread reminding players to use their scrolls, poisons, and potions. The reason is that they’ve simply beaten the game with hundreds of them just sitting in their inventory. “This happens every new RPG I start,” they mentioned. “Don’t be that RPG player like me. These things are made to be used. They’re literally useless hoarded.” Since the thread was first posted, it has been flooded with comments by other players who responded to the issue. One of the top responses was, “Every time I’m out of combat, I think about this. Every time I’m in combat, I promptly forget again,” which other players seem to relate to. Another fan suggested their idea when it comes to dealing with this situation. “Nah, the plan is not to sell them, but never use them, hoard hundreds, then realize at the final battle I have them all, and still not use them! I’ve been doing that since the og FFVII lol.” On the contrary, one response claims this is a strategy they use in another game. “In Icewinddale, I hoarded all the good stuff until the very last fight against the big bad. Needless to say, it was rather easy with sh*t tons of scrolls and potions at hand lol,” they explained. For more context, players can collect all kinds of loot throughout their game, but there’s a limitation. Hoarding too many items will give players the encumbered effect, so it’s ideal to sell unnecessary items or use them when the time is right.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn fans against going back to previous acts – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn fans against going back to previous acts Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player has learned why you should avoid going back to previous acts after their Honour Mode run was destroyed thanks to their curiosity. Sharing their horrific 92-hour Honour Mode end, one user took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit to warn fans: “Don’t try to return to Act 1, after clearing Act 2.” They went on to reveal how their “92-hour Honour Mode run just ended because I am stubborn and didn’t listen to the dream visitor when he told me not to go back to Act I.” Essentially, if you head back into Act 1 after completing later adventures, your Dream Visitor will warn you countlessly to go back in an attempt to keep you pressing onwards. Naturally, curiosity got the best of this player as they ignored the warnings and headed straight back to grab the Gloves of Belligerent Skies. “After being ignored three times, the dream visitor got angry and he left me to fend for myself, which promptly resulted in my entire party turning into Mind Flayers and being dominated by the Elder Brain….Guys don’t be stubborn like me, listen to warnings, especially if they are given three times” shared the poster, proving just how bad it is to ignore the Dream Visitor early on in the game. Some players took to the comments to share how the poster may have discovered a brand new ending, sharing: “While it sucks that this happened to you on HM I think this might be an ending not many have encountered yet.” However, others didn’t offer quite as much sympathy, with some joking that the poster “failed the courtesy ‘Are you sure… are you REALLY sure… are you REALLY REALLY sure’ check that every DM gives their players before they do something stupid.” While it’s certainly a frustrating way to end an Honour Mode run, it just goes to prove how Larian has managed to make every action rife with consequences, proving they just knew the players’ curiosity would get the better of them.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against “underestimating” weak enemies – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against “underestimating” weak enemies Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community has revealed the seemingly weaker enemies in the game that pose much more of a threat than players expect. While Larian’s critically acclaimed RPG has plenty of big bosses that take up most players’ attention and preparation, some of the game’s unassuming enemies can be just as dangerous if not treated with the respect they deserve. This included creatures encountered in the very first area of Baldur’s Gate 3, such as the Red Caps and Frog found just outside of Aunti Ethel’s house. A fan took to the game’s subreddit to ask about the “seemingly weak” enemies that have caused the most trouble for others, and it didn’t take long for the community to list creatures from Act 1’s swamp. In discussing the Red Caps, one user said, “It’s all fine and good, and you think they’re meh. Then in comes a… dropkick.” Another fan took to this comment to share their own story. They explained that after getting destroyed in their first fight with them, their second, successful bout still came at a cost. They said, “… It ended with my Tav and Shadowheart downed, Gale on one HP, and Astarion miraculously on 11 HP thanks to False Life.” However, the Red Caps were not the only threat to those journeying through Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 1, with a single frog posing a massive threat. While this creature, called the Addled Frog, is not aggressive at first, if a player tries to pester it for too long, it will attack and do far more damage than people expected. One player said, “Seeing a playthrough and someone and their entire team getting annihilated by this tiny creature was… eye-opening.” Another user even claimed that the Addled Frog almost ended their Honour Mode run single-handedly. These two enemies are not the only ones mentioned in the thread, as plenty of others have shared their experiences with unsuspecting enemies like random groups of bandits, hermit crabs, and even a dying mind flayer that ate the brain of the poor player who failed their roll against its Mind Control. While foes like Raphael may dominate the conversation around Baldur’s Gate 3 and its dangers, it seems that there are plenty of threats that come in smaller packages as well.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against romancing Lae’zel due to “death sentence” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against romancing Lae’zel due to “death sentence” Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player has discovered a critical consequence for romancing a key companion, where love for one leads to a “death sentence” for another. In a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, your choices matter. For better or for worse, players have to think carefully about their decisions as they can directly impact the storyline, companions, or Tav themselves. However, while that’s relatively clear it does mean a few choices can be made without you even realizing. As such, some simple romances can have a pretty negative impact on some key companions, with one relationship making being a “death sentence” for another companion. Baldur’s Gate 3 player discovers Karlach “death sentence” for romancing Lae’zel Sharing their discovery on Reddit, one user revealed the consequences of romancing Lae’zel and how much of an impact it will have on poor Karlach if you do so. “Loved romancing Lae’zel, favorite character by far. But during the ending, if you take the decision to fight alongside her against Vlaakith, you leave straight away on the dragon. Which means you’re not around to convince Karlach to go with Wyll to Avernus, leading to her exploding” posted the player, proving just how impactful the relationship can be to the other companions. They went on to explain how essentially, “Romancing Lae’zel is just a death sentence for Karlach” as you’re not there to offer her a better alternative. Fans were quick to jump to the comments to share their confusion regarding the consequences of their decision. Many felt that it could have been done a little differently, to avoid any undesirable outcomes: “They should leave the flying with Voss and the dragons to the end of the scene, it makes no sense that you HAVE to let Karlach die and don’t at least catch up with the others and know their plans just because you want to fly away with Lae!” Others offered a simple way to fix the problem, explaining how the “simple narrative fix would be, Tav: Sure, I’ll go with you Lae’zel, please wait while I say goodbye to our companions. You can then do everything else, including convince Karlach to go to Avernus with Wyll, and then at the very end you and Lae’zel fly away together.” However, while many players found the issue frustrating, others reported Karlach in the epilogue, meaning it may not be as deadly as fans initially thought.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against one Volo choice – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against one Volo choice Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is filled with tricky choices. Each can have a devastating impact on your character, or make them extremely powerful. However, one Volo choice had fans extremely torn. Some argued its worth it, while others warned everyone against it. If I had a nickel for every time someone wanted to take out my eye to cleanse the tadpole problem I’d have two nickels, which isn’t many but, it’s weird it happens twice. Whether it’s Ethel promising to rid you of the tadpole, or Volo convincing himself he should delve away from writing and into surgery, these two decisions can have a vital impact on your character. While some have jumped at the chance to give their right eye to Volo in return for See Invisibility, hundreds of players have warned the community against choosing this boon, as it may not work as assumed. Sharing the Volo deal on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, one user was convinced they’d “take that deal” but others were quick to highlight its key problems. “I did it on my first character and it literally never worked” commented one user, explaining that they “would see an enemy go invisible two feet away from me.. and they’d just stay invisible. I don’t think it ever revealed a single enemy in the entire playthrough.” Others were quick to highlight the same issues, adding that enemies “either moved away from the position or they succeeded a saving throw against your invisibility sight.” See invisibility is great if you can constantly see the enemy, but with them having to roll a saving throw, it’s left up to the dice gods, making it a low chance to succeed. “Part of the problem is if you yell ‘he’s right there.’ And point people still don’t see the dude. They now have a vague idea where he might be but to hit someone with a weapon having a vague idea still doesn’t make it easy” commented another player. Sure, it’s useful for the player if the enemy fails the roll, but it doesn’t change the fact that other companions or players can’t see them, making it equally as hard to hit them. Other players slammed the choice as “pretty disappointing” and explained that it’s far from as useful as many think, especially with high stealth checks. Ultimately, whether you choose to give your eye to Volo or Auntie Ethel, they’re both pretty bad decisions and should be avoided at all costs.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against giving Lae’zel key potion – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against giving Lae’zel key potion Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a ton of unexpected interactions, where a seemingly small decision can turn out to have significant consequences further down the road. A lot of those relate to members of the player’s party, and the community has flagged yet another of these potentially dangerous situations. Lae’zel is one of the most valuable potential party members in the game. She’s comfortably the best Tank offer and is a great melee option for certain fights, particularly with so much of the rest of the cast being ranged and spell-focused. She is also available to romance if we so choose, though one player quickly found out that this can be highly dangerous, particularly if she has a certain item in her inventory. In a post on Reddit, the player shared how they had handed off the Rune Powder Vial to Lae’zel for safekeeping. After an argument between the two broke out, thanks to their romantic entanglement, things quickly devolved into physical combat. Though the player assumed this would be a simple melee, Lae’zel threw the Rune Powder, before drinking a Haste potion and casting Ice Storm with a scroll. This destroyed half the camp and massively set the player’s progress back, further underlining how danger is around every corner in Baldur’s Gate 3. Others were quick to share their own mishaps. One said, “I once had Gale fail a Domination save on the way through the upper city. On his next turn I suddenly lost, no indication of what happened. Fairly certain he blew himself up.” Another added, “I think it was Confusion that one of Minthara’s interrogators cast on us while rescuing her. Lae’zel pulled that vial out and killed two of us. So rune anything goes straight to camp now.” These unexpected consequences are part of the fabric that makes Baldur’s Gate 3 so special. With so many still playing the game, it’s only a matter of time before more emerge.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against dropping weapons in Gauntlet of Shar – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players warn against dropping weapons in Gauntlet of Shar Larian StudiosThe Gauntlet of Shar dungeon in Baldur’s Gate 3 contains an unusual glitch that can delete players’ weapons if they’re not careful. There are lots of weapons available for the heroes and villains in Baldur’s Gate 3 to use in combat. As such, one effective strategy involves disarming them, forcing them to drop their weapons to the ground, and allowing you to steal them. The Fighter class used to have a reputation for being boring in D&D, but the Battle Master subclass in 5E changed all that, as it gained special abilities to use in combat. In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Battle Master is among the best subclasses for disarming opponents, thanks to its Disarming Attack power. Unfortunately, disarming can be annoying in one specific location, as items can be permanently lost if players aren’t careful. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Mirror Match boss battle can delete weapons A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit has reported a bug that can occur in the Gauntlet of Shar dungeon during the section where the player fights mirror images of their party. This battle can result in weapons being lost forever when certain conditions are met. During the fight, a mirror version of the player’s Battle Master Fighter disarmed the Sorceress of the group, dropping her staff. The Fighter then made the exact same move to the mirror Sorceress, who picked up the original Sorceress’ staff and used it in battle. When the battle ended, the mirror images vanished without leaving any loot behind, taking the staff with them. This means there’s a way for items to be permanently deleted, though it requires a very specific set of circumstances to occur. It’s possible that this situation came about as a means by the developers to prevent an item duplication glitch, as these are known for being abused in other games. If the mirror party’s gear is automatically deleted upon defeat, it prevents players from duping equipment or items. Hopefully, this glitch will be fixed in a future update, as it’s so specific that it likely never came up until now. As Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to receive support, we may see the dreaded mirror match boss item deletion glitch removed in a future hotfix or patch.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to see more of “underused” Act 2 antagonist – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to see more of “underused” Act 2 antagonist Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players loved everything the antagonist Ketheric, especially JK Simmon’s voice acting, and wanted to see more of the character in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 was recognized as the Best Game at the Game Awards 2023, and the title was loved fairly unanimously by both critics and casual players, partly due to its great character design and boss fights. One of the more memorable antagonists in the game was Ketheric Thorm, who sought to destroy Baldur’s Gate as part of the Dead Three’s chosen. Players loved the design of the character and his powerful voice acting which was performed by the talented JK Simmons. However, players loved the character and his portrayal so much that they felt disappointed with how little screen time Ketheric Thorm received in the game, feeling he was “underused”. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more Ketheric Thorm One Baldur’s Gate 3 fan shared a post to social media complaining about the “underuse” of the antagonist. “I think Ketheric deserved far more screentime,” they said. Some people couldn’t agree more with the original poster’s love for Ketheric Thorm: “I love his character, his origin, and I feel like the voice actor really delivers!” Others feel developers Larian Studios should have used Ketheric Thorm more in their plotting due to financial reasons, referencing the legendary voice actor JK Simmons. “JK Simmons must cost a fortune,” they noted. Finally, others had issues with even the little screen time that the character had, feeling that out of the other antagonists he was grouped with Ketheric deserved more emphasis. “Ketheric should have been the last of the unholy trio we face. His 3-stage combat scenario and the whole souls-like transformation set the bar pretty high for the other two but neither Orin nor Gortash could deliver the same hype Ketheric did,” one fan said. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to know what happens to companions after dismissal – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to know what happens to companions after dismissal Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is starting to wonder what exactly happens to companions after you dismiss them from the camp. Most Baldur’s Gate 3 players keep their companions around at camp, even when they’re not huge fans of them. But every now and then, a companion may do something that prompts them to be dismissed from the group and exiled from camp. However, many people are wondering what happens to the companions when this happens and how their stories end. Baldur’s Gate 3 players wonder about dismissed companions A post was made to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, which explains how the person found out what happens to Astarion after they were dismissed. In their game, the person kicked Astarion out after he held a knife to their character’s throat. “Figured I’d see him a cazadors, but didn’t really go looking for anything to not spoil things for myself. Well, I did find him…. But he was a dead zombie…” This has sparked a conversation about players wondering the same thing about other companions in Baldur’s Gate 3. Many other users have pursued the same thing to find out what other companions get up to after dismissal. One player mentions that as far as they know, Gale, Wyll, and Karlach will disappear from the game, possibly becoming Mind Flayers. They also confirm that Lae’zel will be found dead in the second act of the game if she is dismissed before that point. One fan mentions that even though they’ve wondered about this, but they “… can’t not recruit them.” It’s an interesting question with how deep and complex the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is, and finding what happens to companions is just another thing to dig into.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to date some of the hardest foes in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to date some of the hardest foes in the game DexertoBaldur’s Gate 3 is a notoriously thirsty game, catering to every desire imaginable (and a few you’d never think of). This has led to the fanbase finding some of the most surprising creatures to be attractive. D&D is set in a universe where humanity has bred with pretty much everything. In Baldur’s Gate 3, you have half-elves, half-orcs, and tieflings, resulting from a union between humans and fiends. Going further into D&D lore, you’ll find even more surprising results, like half-elementals, half-dragons, half-genies, and even half-farspawn, which are Lovecraftian horrors. It’s best not to think about it too much. It’s not all handsome elven vampires or dom gith mommies that the players are into, as pointed out by users on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit. A thread talking about the Death Shepherd enemies devolved into talking about how handsome and fashionable they are, despite being undead monstrosities. For those who don’t recall, the Death Shepherds are powerful undead faced near the Githyanki Creche. They have the power to revive their fellow undead, making them a surprisingly challenging foe, as they arrive with lots of allies that they can keep bringing back. They’re also decked out in cool armor, which some fans appreciated. “Skeleton men should not be this hot,” one user wrote, while another joked (we hope), “Hottest enemies in the game by far.” “Bone Daddy,” another user quipped, while another summed things up with a simple “Would.” One user pointed out that it’s possible to have them as unwilling admirers but only one for one specific class. “I use Oathbreaker’s undead mind control ability on them and have them follow me around.” If Baldur’s Gate 3 is good for one thing (other than being the most highly acclaimed video game of all time), it’s pointing out the weird things people are into. The Death Shepherds might be an imposing gameplay wall to some, but to others, they’re too beautiful to destroy.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to become matchmakers for their favorite companions – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to become matchmakers for their favorite companions Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have started wishing they could set up some of the most popular party members in the game with other NPCs, which makes a nice change from wanting to romance everything that moves. The companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 have become instantly recognizable, and a large part of that popularity is simple: Players just want them to be happy. And for the first time since the game’s release, that doesn’t seem to involve pairing up with the player’s avatar. For a character like Karlach, who instantly became one of the most popular party members in the game, the story of Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of trauma and tragedy loaded in it, with many players voicing complaints about her original ending. But now, players are wishing they could set her up with one person in particular who plays a very important role in her quest. Baldur’s Gate 3 player wishes they could set NPCs up with each other In a post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, one player asked: “Why can’t I set these two up, Larian?! Why?!” in reference to Karlach and Dammon, the Tiefling infernal mechanic who helps you tune up her mechanical heart. If he makes it to the end of the game, Dammon will send a letter to Karlach, which will read: “If you’re reading this, you’re alive. One way or another, you found a way. Thank the gods. I think of you often, wondering what’s become of you. Write to me, won’t you? Please.” Another player wished that they were able to see Karlach’s reaction to the letter, saying: “I do wish you could give relevant letters in the epilogue to companions, but I didn’t see any way to do it. “ For more news and updates on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out the reaction from the community about a potential live-action Netflix adaptation of the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want this key dialogue option added to the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want this key dialogue option added to the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are slamming one character so intensely that they’re now calling for a specific dialogue option to be added to the game just to call them a “dumbass.” While it may be a strength in some instances and a weakness in others, the characters of Baldur’s Gate 3 are certainly unique. Many players have a love/hate relationship with the companions and NPCs that span the expansive story, and their interactions arguably create some of the most memorable elements of the game. One interaction in general is having such an impact that it’s now inspiring players to call for a brand new dialogue option to help them put the “dumbass” NPC in their place – and fans just can’t get enough of the idea. Baldur’s Gate 3 player have had enough of one “dumbass” character Sharing their idea on Reddit, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player highlighted how “we need a patch to call [SPOILER] a dumbass.” The spoiler in question is Orpheus, the Githyanki Prince that’s housed inside the Emperor’s prison. If you choose to let him go, it can be pretty surprising to see his reaction, with the player explaining: “When I freed Orpheus, I expected him to be distrustful of the party, but not a complete and total dumbass to the party. He’s mad we abused his powers, so we explain we had no choice, The Emperor was literally in charge of that the whole time, we freed him at the first opportunity.” They went on to add the hilarious comment that inspired them to call for a new dialogue option: “Then he says something out of left field, such a dipsh***edly stupid response that I can’t fathom even him thinking it’s right: “You could’ve surrendered yourself to my honour guard. They would have given you a noble end.” Asshole, if we did that, YOU wouldn’t be free right now!” As many players know, you can’t free Orpheus without the Orphic Hammer, so if the player had surrendered, they would be dead, and Orpheus would still be trapped, making it a pretty pointless statement. Shortly after posting, fans rallied to the comments to share their frustration with Orpheus, as well as the limited responses you can reply with. “This also bugged me yeah.” commented one user, going on to say that “the best you can do is say “Oh well now’s not the time to fight” which can feel a little passive for some players. Others commented that “this bothered me too” while highlighting the stupid things Orpheus seems to frequently say. While many players agreed, one user revealed the desire to change a few more dialogue options in the next patch: “If they patch this can we also call the emperor a dumbarse for immediately joining the elder brain?” It’s clear some NPCs make some questionable choices in Baldur’s Gate 3, and for most fans, nothing would be more satisfying than to call them out for it.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want these bugs to become permanent features – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want these bugs to become permanent features Baldur’s Gate 3Baldur’s Gate 3 players gathered around to reminisce on some of the game’s patched bugs, wishing they were permanent features instead. From its Early Access days until its full release in 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3 experienced a range of bugs, most of which were swiftly dealt with by Larian’s team. Some bugs are game-breaking, like the glitch that forces characters to slide off platforms into the abyss. Others are more amusing, such as TAV being accidentally glued to Halsin. On Reddit, players shared their favorite bugs they wished had stayed in the game. One popular bug involved Shadowheart’s reaction when TAV offered their blood to Astarion. Somehow, Shadowheart would find out about this private camp event and disapprove from afar. For one Baldur’s Gate 3 player, the bug seemed perfectly logical. Shadowheart disapproves of the ‘Bloodless’ debuff because it means extra work for her and her healing spells. They said, “Shadowheart was like: ‘Every morning I wake up and have to cast Lesser Restoration! FFS!’” Another fan-favorite bug was Gale’s camp spot in the Shadow Curse area, where he would set up his tent in a puddle. A player fondly recalled, “I love the idea of him hearing Mystra wants him to blow up, insisting that he’s totally fine, and immediately setting up his tent in a puddle.” Gale’s “Depression Puddle” became a running joke, with fans saying, “He chose that spot ’cause it reminded him of home,” a nod to Gale’s origin in the city of Waterdeep. A third beloved bug involved the Mundane Chest. In Baldur’s Gate 3, this chest acted like a budget Bag of Holding. One player said, “Everyone loved that thing. It was a Costco ‘Kirkland’ branded Bag of Holding. It was great.” However, Larian Studios later patched this, clarifying it was never meant to work that way. Now, the chest has weight limitations, much to the dismay of players who enjoyed the handy feature. Despite these changes, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to thrive, with Patch 7 coming in September. Larian Studios remains committed to updating the game even as they focus on developing a mysterious new title.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want simple Githyanki egg change and it’s a no-brainer – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want simple Githyanki egg change and it’s a no-brainer Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 quest lets players obtain a Githyanki egg, which has some wishing they could actually become parents in the game. One of the best parts of Baldur’s Gate 3 is how so many choices players have to make impact the way the game unfolds. Picking up the right item or saying to wrong thing to the wrong person has consequences that you may not discover until much later. That makes things super immersive and emulates real tabletop Dungeons & Dragons. However, certain quests don’t go quite as far as Baldur’s Gate 3 players would like. A perfect example takes place in the Rosymorn Monastery, where players can obtain a Githyanki egg. Players want to hatch the Githyanki egg and adopt children in Baldur’s Gate 3 Inside the monastery is the Creche Y’llek, where Githyanki eggs are cared for. When players visit, there’s just one egg that’s being closely watched by guards. Players can either fight their way to the egg or convince the main guard, who has a personal stake in its wellbeing, to let them take it. Either way, the purpose of the egg is for a quest. Players can give the Githyanki egg to Lady Esther in the Mountain Pass, though the owlbear egg will also work. Even if the player holds onto it, though, the Githyanki egg doesn’t really do anything else. For some players, including Reddit user Mobitza, that’s a huge letdown. Those who take a diplomatic approach to obtaining the egg have the option of telling the guard they will raise the child as their own. Unfortunately, this never comes to fruition. As Mobitza jokes, “I can teach them how to fight for sure, I’ll keep them in touch with their heritage. I can’t go five steps without triggering a fight, so I promise you their combat skills will be up to par,” referencing the Githyanki penchant for violence. Plenty of other players agree with that sentiment. Some have even pointed out other children in the game they’d like to adopt like Arabella, a young tiefling girl who loses her parents during the game. Of course, someone with an illithid tadpole in their head who’s on a dangerous mission and basically lives outdoors might not be the best person to raise children. While Baldur’s Gate 3’s Githyanki egg quest may be anticlimactic at the moment, there’s no shortage of things to do in the game – things that would take players away from their children if they were able to actually adopt kids. For now, players will just have to hold out hope that Larian Studios will eventually revisit the Githyanki egg in Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want simple change to fix Act 3’s worst quest – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want simple change to fix Act 3’s worst quest Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have some problems with one of Act 3’s more disappointing quests, and it only takes one small change to fix most of them. While the three-act structure of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been universally praised by critics and players alike, it’s also widely accepted that Act 3 doesn’t quite hit the same highs as the first two. At launch, Act 3 was a lot buggier than the rest of the game, and it just doesn’t match the tonal consistency of Act 2 or the fantasy wonder of Act 1. And while Act 3 is full of some amazing quests to keep you entertained, like finally tracking down Cazador or infiltrating the library, there are a few that miss the mark, and one of the worst culprits is “Free the Artist,” which has you crawling all over the titular city to track down Oskar. Baldur’s Gate 3 players aren’t happy with “Free the Artist” quest One player was particularly frustrated that the picture you get at the end isn’t necessarily the person who poses in the reflection, meaning their Astarion playthrough wasn’t rewarded with a picture of the vampire spawn. They said: “You run around the city looking for a bunch of undead assholes, the fights are tedious and irritating, there are no map markers and your only payment – not gold, mind you – is a portrait of a randomized character with no say over who it is. “I was playing an Astarion origin and I was excited to at least let him see his reflection, but nope, no dice, the picture wouldn’t randomize to him despite him being the one to “sit for the portrait”. It’s such a massive step down in quality from the rest of the game – bad design, lazy programming, little to no narrative tissue.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want one extra element added to ending – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want one extra element added to ending Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are demanding to see an extra element added to the end of the game to perfectly tie the RPG up. Since its release out of Early Access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken the gaming world by storm. It’s high reviews and constant player praise has helped it reach legendary status. All that is thanks to the loveable companions, touching storyline, and engaging gameplay. However, no game is truly perfect, and there are always going to be elements that players want to take out, add, or just change entirely. The ending is one of those instances, with players calling for an extra element to be added to make it more touching. Baldur’s Gate 3 players are calling for one addition to the game’s ending Posting their opinion onto the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, one user begged Larian to “please add a final party at the Upper City area.” They went on to elaborate on their request: “I was so disappointed there was nothing after the final fight, not even a party to mingle with everyone. We shared so much time with each other, it felt sad to simply let them go without a party and have a chance to talk to them about their plans moving forward. Also as a bard….for the love of Baldur’s Gate, let me go on stage and sing, let me have a moment similar to how Alfira had in Act 1. Yes, I want my player character to not just talk, but sing on this momentous occasion.” At the end of the Druid Grove questline, players are treated to a brilliant party, where they’re able to talk with their Companions, the Teiflings they saved, and anyone else they fancy. It’s a fantastic way to take a breath in the game, especially when treated to Alfira’s singing. But now, players are calling for a similar party to perfectly sign off the game after the final fight. Shortly after posting, it was clear many agreed with the player’s statement, with plenty expressing how disappointed they were with the ending. “The ending really bums me out” explained one user, highlighting how “It kinda feels like I went through so much and sunk so many hours for like… no reward.” In this instance, a party would be a perfect ending and reward. Others expressed how much they loved the poster’s idea, explaining how perfect it would be to finish the companions’ arcs: “I’d love that! Have it set during the evening, so even an un-ascended Astarion can attend. It’s so depressing how he just… runs off into the shadows as the sun burns his skin if he’s not romanced.” Ultimately, this sentiment is echoed among many players, with tons wondering why there’s such a great party after saving the Tieflings but so little celebration at the end of the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want new romanceable NPCs in future update – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want new romanceable NPCs in future update Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have had enough of the companions, and are looking to romance some lovable key NPCs… and an omnipresent voice? Romance is a key aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3, with many heading into the game for their third or fourth playthrough just so they can try to romance the adorable Karlach instead of Astarion, Shadowheart, or Halsin. However, while there are quite a few romance options in the game, many fans aren’t satisfied and are now calling for some new characters to be made into romanceable options. In fact, they didn’t stop there, as some players want the ability to romance the Narrator. Baldur’s Gate 3 players demand NPC and Narrator romance option Sharing their idea on Reddit, one Baldur’s Gate 3 user stated: “Let me marry the imaginary girl stuck in my head,” attaching an image highlighting how “Larian should add Alfira, Lakrissa, Dammon, and Rolan as romance options” as well as adding that “Larian should add the Narrator as a romance option.” The meme attached explored that they much preferred the Narrator’s idea, but many took to the comments to express their approval for both the NPCs and the Narrator. “Tav isn’t good enough for Alfira or Lakrissa no matter what they do” joked one player, suggesting that they’re far too good to be romanced by the protagonist. Others highlighted how they may not even care about romancing the NPCs themselves, stating how they “just want Alfira as a companion. They could have her available after you help her finish her song and defend the Grove.” This was echoed by another player, who commented that “They should add the option to set up companions and NPCs bc Karlach and Dammon would be fantastic.” While many love the NPC idea, one element stood out, the thirst for the Narrator. Tons of fans took to the comments to share how they’d love the ability to flirt with the Narrator, who’s essentially the DM of the game: “She can have Authority over me any time.” Whether it’s NPCs or the Narrator, one thing’s clear, Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to fall in love with practically everyone in the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more options to let companions down gently – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more options to let companions down gently Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 fans love to romance their companions, but you can’t date everyone at once. Players want more dialogue options for letting the party down gently, as no one wants a spurned lover watching their back in a fight. The romances in Baldur’s Gate 3 have varying levels of complexity. Some characters are easy to date, like Gale and Lae’zel, while others have love stories that span nearly the entire duration of the game, like Shadowheart. The problem is that lots of characters show interest in you at once, and there’s no option to form a giant Baldur’s Gate 3 polycule. The even bigger problem is that the game doesn’t always give you options to deny your party member’s advances nicely. Users on Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit have pointed out that some of the game’s dialogue options have either extremely forward or unrelentingly harsh answers. They want more choices than to make their character more pleasant. “A good example of why I save before talking to most NPCs,” one user wrote, “There’s a way to avoid this specific dialogue tree by picking another one that precedes it, ending the conversation on an amicable and platonic note. They continued, “But yes, they really should add another choice in there that’s less rude or horny, it’s been almost a year and they would’ve had to record at most 1 more sentence in response to said choice.” “BG3 wants you to be so needlessly rude to some companions. But won’t let you say bad thing to some,” one user wrote, while another said, “Might be my least favorite set of dialogue options in the entire game. Literally no good option unless you’re actively trying to romance Gale or absolutely hate him.” One player wrote, “Yeah that’s one of my, uh… small? criticisms of the game as a whole. The game sometimes forces too hard you into romance with some characters, which does make me sort of resent these characters and see them in a quasi-negative light? They continued, “Gale, in all my playthroughs, ends up feeling this way. There should be “stall” dialogue options, you know, the boilerplate classic “Cats being cats, am I right?” A big part of Baldur’s Gate 3’s appeal is learning more about the party members and watching their stories unfold over the course of the game. This is why so many people ignore Hirelings despite how useful they are. There’s a new Baldur’s Gate 3 patch on the way and Larian has confirmed that more are in stall for the future. Hopefully, the dialogue will be tightened before the devs are finished with the game, so you’re not always put in a position of insulting or embarrassing the party members when turning down their advances.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more monster races to be added – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more monster races to be added Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has lots of standard fantasy fare as options for the protagonist, but players want more of the exotic playable races that appeared in later Dungeons & Dragons books, including the monsters. Baldur’s Gate 3 features all of the race options from D&D’s 5th Edition Player’s Handbook, along with a few extras, such as the alternate Tiefling lineages from Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes and the Githzerai, who are a major part of the game’s story. There’s a distinct lack of choices regarding monsters, at least according to fans on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit. Baldur’s Gate 3 already features these creatures as enemies, so players want them repurposed as choices for their characters. “There are a lot of good ideas. But obviously, it’s Kobold,” one user wrote, reflecting the sentiments of many fans who wanted to see the diminutive draconic featured more. “Goblin,” another user wrote, “1) Because it’d be fun, but 2) it would add some interesting roleplay opportunities given the story.” Goblins would be especially apt, considering how big of a role they play in Act I and how they’d need special interactions with both major factions. “The rest of the plane-touched to go along with the Tieflings,” one user asked, “The fact there’s an Aasimar in the game, and we can’t be one, or a Genasi is a bit aggro.” Many fans asked for the Tabaxi, a popular race of cat people among D&D players. Fortunately, like many of the options players asked for, the Tabaxi is playable via mods. The presence of mods means that PC fans (and eventually, people who own Baldur’s Gate 3 on consoles) have options for the monstrous races. The only issue is that they don’t have the polish of the official races in terms of visuals and responsiveness within the story. Hopefully, Larian adds some extra races before it’s done with the game, but if they don’t, modders have years to refine them and make them feel as natural as the current options for Tav and the Dark Urge.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more Companion reactions in Act III – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more Companion reactions in Act III Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players want the Companions to have more to say about the important events that happen in Act III, as they’re currently lacking in opinions for the pivotal moments. As Baldur’s Gate 3 spent a lot of time in Early Access, much of the focus was on the first of its three Acts, as that was the only playable portion for years. Considering the sheer length of Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s also the part that has to work the hardest to keep players invested enough to continue the story. The focus on Act I makes the later portions of the story feel less fleshed out than they are, to the point where many fans consider them to be rushed, especially when it comes to the conclusion of long-running plotlines. The other way Act III of Baldur’s Gate 3 feels underdeveloped is the reactions of party members. In Acts I and II, the characters have plenty to say about various situations, but in Act III, they clam up and aren’t as opinionated as they were before. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more Companion reactions in Act III A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit has created a thread complaining about how the Companions don’t have as much to say in Act III in comparison to the early sections of the story, especially in the run-up to the final events of the game. Other users agreed on this point, calling for more interactions. “After 5 playthroughs: Whenever i reach act 3 i’m just looking forward to a new playthrough so i can play act 1 again,” one user wrote, “Act 3 has some really nice quests and bosses but totally lacks exploring and decent companion interactions.” “Act 3 is significantly less immersive than acts 1 and 2, it’s a huge disappointment but act 3 alone is still better than most entire games, so I can accept it,” another user wrote, while another said, “I think it’s a very common complaint, yes unfortunately act 3 feels rushed, it’s still good because the game is sublime obviously but they could have polished the last part a bit more.” “I was just thinking about this last night!,” another user said, “Talking to Gortash at the coronation when he offers the deal with Halsin, Jaheira, and Wyll in my party (equivalent to mom, dad, and my conscience) and the only one whispering advice is the Emperor. Baldur’s Gate 3 is still receiving content via free patches, and many fans suspect that a Definitive Edition is coming in the future, one that will flesh out Act III now that the developers have had more time to tinker with it. For the time being, players will just have to race to the finish line while the unusually quiet party members help them fight through the last battles without giving their opinions about the impending end of the world.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more class-exclusive content – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want more class-exclusive content Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 reacts to countless decisions made by the player throughout the story, but there are some major aspects of character creation, such as class, that don’t play enough of a role. In D&D and Baldur’s Gate 3, the choice of class is vital for defining the scope of your character’s abilities. It takes a long time to become skilled enough in your class abilities that you can take up the mantle of an adventurer and the dangerous lives they lead. Despite this, Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t treat class selection as significantly as it does other player choices. This has led to complaints from users on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, who are surprised at the lack of exclusive dialogue or content regarding the player character. “I was rather disappointed at the lack of unique dialogue/encounters when my Spore Druid got to the Myconid colony,” one user wrote, “Of all the sections of the game, I would have thought that one would have some sort of added flavor for that subclass. They continued, “I wasn’t expecting a whole hidden questline or anything, but I wouldn’t have minded a LITTLE something to make it stand out. Anyone else go through this or something similar?” “Felt the same way as a Lathander cleric entering Rosymorn monastery… why did I have 0 reaction to seeing a monastery of my order sacked and all of its people murdered by gith?” another user wrote, while one said, “Same, I did spore druid my first play through. I thought for sure. I would get to say something to them special but no. Sad times.” It’s especially sad because it’s really obvious moments that are missed. Probably the most notorious is the lack of reaction to playing a Tiefling Druid in Act I. That character is the ideal one for resolving the conflict between the major factions, yet no one acknowledges that fact. Baldur’s Gate 3 has so much content that it’s hard to fault the developers for some oversights. Those who want more reactivity can always turn to mods and have their Spore Druid shown the respect for their mushroom knowledge that they deserve.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want Larian to add fan-favorite race from Skyrim – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want Larian to add fan-favorite race from Skyrim Larian StudiosSome players in Baldur’s Gate 3 are begging Larian Studios to add a fan-favorite race from The Elder Scrolls series, especially Skyrim, to the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is steadily closing onto a year of its release and has managed to be unfathomably popular. However, with each passing day, players are discovering new gameplay elements across all the Acts, and now some want Larian to add a key race from another popular game series. It’s none other than The Elder Scrolls, especially Skyrim, where Argonians are a race of reptiles that dwell in Black Marsh. A Baldur’s Gate 3 player was ecstatic after coming across a lizard in the third Act after a lonely solitary endeavor through the previous Acts. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want Larian to add more Lizards Taking on Reddit, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared a meme where they created a character of the Dragonborn race and were relieved after meeting another lizard friend in Act 3. Calling it an Argonian, several Skyrim lovers joined in and a bunch of the community members now want Larian to add the race to Baldur’s Gate 3. The player who posted wanted more Dragonborns in Baldur’s Gate 3 and said, “Larian plz add more lizards to the game” and several others expressed a similar desire, “Kobolds are in the game as NPCs, PLEASE Larian just let us be a ‘lil lizard.” A player mentioned how “canonically rare” the Dragonborn race is in general and explained that, “A small population of them were transported to Toril from Abeir during the Spellplague ~ 50 years ago, and the majority of that population are still on the continent they came with, across the sea from Baldur’s Gate.” It’s no surprise Baldur’s Gate 3’s lore is filled with countless secrets, considering how detailed and massive the game is. One player mentions there is a “secret Dragonborn if you knock out or have already had an interaction with our favorite bard with a durge.” A player adds that this is “weirdly the only NPC that actually tells you some Dragonborn lore in the entire game.” Some players agree that the lesser occurrence of Dragonborns is “just a lore accurate lizardfolk” and actually just “prefer urban life” instead.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want huge QoL changes in their Patch 6 wishlists – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want huge QoL changes in their Patch 6 wishlists Larian StudiosWith Patch 6 coming to Baldur’s Gate 3 this week, players are discussing what they want out of the game’s next update. Last week, Larian Studios announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting a major update soon. Patch 6 has been described as “hefty,” with known changes including kiss animation improvements and new Legendary Actions in Honor Mode. There are also sure to be bug fixes and other community-requested changes, though we won’t know specifics until the update releases and Larian shares full patch notes. In anticipation of Patch 6, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are sharing what they hope to see from the update, and their requests mostly boil down to quality-of-life fixes. Baldur’s Gate 3 players hope Patch 6 lets them name backpacks, fixes Shield Bash & more The conversation was started with a post on the BaldursGate3 subreddit titled “Tell the god of renewal your final patch 6 wishes.” Currently, the topic comments have to do with the game’s inventory management, which has long been a point of frustration for players. Suggestions include additional inventory filters to help more effectively sort items and the option to name backpacks. This would allow players to organize their items accordingly and know what each bag contains before opening it by giving them names like “Explosives,” “Dyes,” or “Gale snacks.” There are also some known issues that players hope Patch 6 will resolve. Among the most notable are Shield Bash not working despite the animation playing and a bug with the tiefling child Mol at the Last Light Inn that prevents a key cutscene from playing. Beyond that, some players hope for improvements to Halsin and Minthara. Patch 5 made it possible to recruit Minthara on a “good” run by knocking her out, but because she and Halsin were originally meant to be mutually exclusive, this has led to issues like them sharing a tent and not acknowledging each other. While we don’t know if any of these suggestions will make the cut for Patch 6, considering how many fan-requested changes like the Magic Mirror and Minthara’s recruitment have already been incorporated into Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s a good chance at least some of these will eventually become part of the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want big QoL change that still hasn’t been included – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want big QoL change that still hasn’t been included Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players want a QoL change that will make it a lot easier to sell the many items you find in the game world. One of the most annoying aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3 is the sheer amount of inventory management involved with managing multiple characters, as players have to track everyone’s equipment, consumables, key items, and camping supplies. The inventory management process isn’t helped by an unintuitive system that involves a lot of clicking and moving things about, especially in Camp. This is made even harder by the strict item weight limit characters have, which encumbers them if they’re carrying too much. There are a few QoL options, such as adding items to Wares. All items added to Wares can be instantly sold to a merchant, making tracking junk items you know you want to sell much easier. Unfortunately, this also has issues. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want an easier way of sending items to Wares A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit has created a thread asking for a much-needed QoL change, allowing players to send items they find on the overworld to Wares instantly. This would make it easier to organize junk items into a category that can be sold immediately. “Absolutely. Inventory in general still needs about 8 QoL improvements. They are very obvious and very easy to implement.. So I’m shocked they haven’t,” one user wrote, while another said, “I’d like to have a Wares bag, like we’ve got Bags for Camp Supplies, Keys & Alchemical Compounds.” Currently, players can mass-select items in the inventory menu and earmark them for Wares, but even this adds several unnecessary steps to the process. Fans want a button that lets you send to Wares when picking up the item. This issue is even more present in the console versions of Baldur’s Gate 3, where the player must use a controller to select items. An ability to send items straight to Wares using a controller shortcut would be a huge help. Baldur’s Gate 3 is still receiving content updates and QoL features, as Larian is supporting the game post-launch with free updates for the foreseeable future. If enough fans ask for tweaks to the inventory management, then the developers will hopefully listen and give them what they want.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a “short king” in their party – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a “short king” in their party Larian StudiosWhile there are so many races to explore in Baldur’s Gate 3, many fans are wondering why such diversity isn’t wholly reflected by their party. In Baldur’s Gate 3, heroes come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Whether you’re a Half-Orc or a Halfling, you’re just as capable of taking on the game’s epic adventure. With that in mind, some players have started to question why select races are absent from the roster of recruitable companions. While there’s more variance among temporary companions and hirelings, your core party is missing five of the game’s ten playable races — a circumstance that is being deemed a missed opportunity by many on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit. Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for greater party diversity Sharing their thoughts on Reddit, one user stated: “I just think it’s kind of a shame that we can’t get companions of half of the races,” going on to say, “Sure we have hirelings, but they don’t have interactions like the others”. Other Baldur’s Gate 3 fans expressed their agreement saying, “It’s a shame we don’t have more dragonborn in the game, and it’s weird that not a single companion is any of the three shorter races”. Speculating as to why certain races didn’t make the cut, a few players suggested that issues around “glitchy” dialogue and romance scenes for short characters could be at play. Others believed it to be less of a problem of the practicality and more of an aesthetic one: “The reality is, if Shadowheart were a gnome she’d be like 1/20th as popular. The sex appeal of the companions is genuinely a huge selling point of the game”. However, given Baldur’s Gate 3 fans’ colorful in-game romantic history, it’s hard to imagine a companion’s short stature or strange appearance would deter their thirst too much. As OP succinctly put it, “I just wanted to f*ck a dragon or a short king”.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a key feature from Dragon Age: Origins added – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a key feature from Dragon Age: Origins added Larian StudiosFrom the moment it was fully released, Baldur’s Gate 3 proved itself to be a huge success, with gamers everywhere adoring the expansive world. However, despite a lengthy early access, not all features are popular with fans. Naturally, certain Baldur’s Gate 3 features haven’t been the most popular among certain fans. Sure, the likes of the game’s romance, hilarious companions, and ability to make the game your own is Baldur’s Gate 3’s primary selling point – but for a world as large as this one, it would be an impressive feat to get every element perfect. However, one feature has got fans begging for an alteration, with many wishing Baldur’s Gate 3 took one vital element from Dragon Age: Origins. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have had enough of one major feature Posting onto Reddit, one user shared their desire for change, highlighting how the “ability to upgrade and modify companions when at camp” was a Dragon Age: Origins feature BG3 should certainly apply to their game. They went on to explain how they “find it pretty tedious having to add each companion to your party just to level them up or change their equipment.” The post was quickly filled with players agreeing with the statement, proving this was a feature the entire community was in support of. One user turned the focus onto the modifying aspect, explaining how “inventory management overall needs work,” highlighting the fact that you need to recruit a companion in your camp in order to see what was in their inventory and empty or fill it. “I’m hoping it comes with the big patch. I think this is something we’ll see eventually. Even if we don’t, mods will come along,” they went on to explain. As we know, there is a large patch coming up for BG3, including a variety of large changes, so this could be one of them. If not, there are always some of the game’s best mods to help out. Many other players had the same thoughts, with most “hoping they add this feature in Patch 2.” Others posed ideas surrounding how to fix the issue, with one explaining that “Leaving camp should start with a party selection screen, and accessing inventory management in camp should allow us to scroll through all companions.” Along with the hundreds of comments agreeing with the OP, one user summed up the community’s thoughts: “I’d be surprised if there were a single person who wouldn’t wish for better companion management. From selecting who you travel with, to adjusting their inventory.” It’s clear the community would love this to be an added feature, just like they’d love to see some removed features come back to Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a Dragon Age Origins feature added to the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players want a Dragon Age Origins feature added to the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are hoping Larian adds a cool feature from Dragon Age Origins to the game in a future update. Since the game’s release in early August, Baldur’s Gate 3 has received plenty of changes and new features via post-launch updates. From bug fixes to quality-of-life improvements and even epilogues, developer Larian Studios has addressed fan concerns and even implemented suggestions, such as the ability to change your avatar’s appearance after leaving the character creator. This has Baldur’s Gate 3 players discussing what they would like to see added in the future, and one Dragon Age Origins feature would make perfect sense. Baldur’s Gate 3 could use Dragon Age Origins’ Heroic Accomplishments to show player stats Reddit user Inneed1120 shared a screenshot from Dragon Age Origins of the game’s Heroic Accomplishments page. This goes over various statistics from the player’s run, such as how many kills a specific character has, the amount of damage they’ve dealt, and how many of a specific enemy the party has defeated. Many Baldur’s Gate 3 players agree with the suggestion, wanting to see how many times they’ve done things like cast Eldritch Blast or rolled a critical success or failure. One commenter even mentioned that the first two Baldur’s Gate games included a stats screen, which shouldn’t be too surprising considering those games and the Dragon Age series were all developed by BioWare. As the player and others have pointed out, Larian has shared player stats before, like which classes are most popular and who the most popular romance options are. Given that the data certainly exists in some capacity, it seems plausible that something like Dragon Age Origins’ Heroic Accomplishments page could be implemented in Baldur’s Gate 3. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players upset they can’t cheese these trials anymore – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players upset they can’t cheese these trials anymore DexertoThe Gauntlet of Shar is a difficult test of strength and wits to overcome, and Baldur’s Gate 3 players are sad that a popular cheese strategy won’t be possible anymore. Patch 7 of Larian Studios’ Dungeons & Dragons RPG has been revealed early to players looking forward to new endings and official mod support. But one note in particular about cheesing one of the trials has hit some fans hard. A Reddit post pointed out that Baldur’s Gate 3 players will no longer be able to cheese the Leap of Faith trial, which is done by clicking the final platform and letting your character path-find their way there. The pathway is invisible during this test, forcing players to figure out the proper way through to not fall to their deaths. The original poster said they were “way too stupid to beat this as intended” before writing a laughing emoji. This led to other responses agreeing that it was such an easy way to get through the Gauntlet quickly. “Annoying,” one player said, “but if they ever patch out being able to cast knock on Shar’s stupid door I’ll riot.” This is just one of many methods that gamers have used to bypass the trials in unique ways. One reply even explained how they avoided the trials altogether: “As soon as I learned you can simply get one orb, the spear from the library, and magically unlock the door, I stopped doing all the trials.” Luckily, many comments made note of the fact that there’s another easy way to make it through the Leap of Faith trial. “There is a map of the path on the floor at the shrine,” someone stated with a link to an image of the answer right under players’ noses. Responses to this reply were filled with confused fans who never knew about this map, with one player saying “now i feel really stupid.” Other than this simple fix, one of the comments was confused that other players weren’t able to see the invisible path like they could. “I’ve played four runs now and every time I’m doing the gauntlet the “invisible” path just looks like a shadowy purple walkway,” the user explained. A reply to this comment remarked that they were able to spot the path as well due to them playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on an old LCD screen. Gaming on their OLED, on the other hand, prevented them from seeing it at all. Although the majority of players hate the idea of having to do the Leap of Faith trial the proper way, they can take solace in the fact that there will still be many other methods of beating this test once Patch 7 drops.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players unintentionally create a Gale army in co-op mode – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players unintentionally create a Gale army in co-op mode Larian StudiosTwo Baldur’s Gate 3 players unknowingly crafted characters resembling the beloved companion, Gale, leading to an unexpected Gale convention in their co-op campaign. In Baldur’s Gate 3, players are constantly finding new ways to amuse themselves and the community alike. Now, one player has shared a hilarious story about their co-op campaign, where both they and their friend independently decided to create characters that looked like Gale, one of the game’s most popular companions. The player shared their experience on Twitter, revealing that both of them believed they had come up with a unique and humorous character design. Little did they know they’d end up with a party consisting of three identical-looking casters and a rogue. In an attached video, the Gale lookalike can be seen pulling the real Gale from the “unstable portal” in Act 1. As the camera pans between the genuine Gale and his lookalike, the expressions on their faces are priceless. The Gale doppelganger appears genuinely shocked to see someone with his exact appearance. One fan requested a picture of the full Gale squad, to which the player responded with an image showing a full squad of Gales. They can be seen all wearing identical outfits, standing together in what can only be described as Galeception. For those unfamiliar with Gale, he is a human wizard known for his knowledge and powerful spells. He’s also been the subject of other amusing incidents in the game. Due to a programming bug, Gale, who was designed to be a complex character with nuanced relationships, would instantly romance players. Whether it’s a squad of Gales or the surprisingly big-brained AI, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to entertain and surprise its players.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players unimpressed by Patch 6 NPC changes – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players unimpressed by Patch 6 NPC changes Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is noticing an improvement to Gondian behavior after Patch 6’s release, though there is still room to grow. The Gondians are a small group of characters that play a role in one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s biggest side quests of Act 3. However, their behavior caused players a lot of frustration as they always seemed to put themselves in harm’s way. But this seems to have changed after Patch 6, though many in the Baldur’s Gate 3 playerbase believe there is still plenty of ways to improve. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans think Gondians are smarter after patch The Baldur’s Gate 3 community is discussing the change on the game’s subreddit, where a player asks: “Is it me or have the Gondians stopped being suicidal?” They explain how before Patch 6’s release, the Gondians always would waste abilities to get close to an enemy that was about to explode, and overall, just put themselves in harm’s way all the time. However, it seems this is no longer the case: “They’re using Misty Step to get away from the Banites and the Watchers and attack them from range with Acid Arrow or Fire Bolt. Some even use it to get to the tubes in the roof where they are out of range for everyone???” The community is largely in agreement that the Gondians are much better than they were, though as one user says: “They’re better but they’ve still got death wishes.” Another Baldur’s Gate 3 fan shares a section of the patch notes that mentions improving the combat with the Gondians, including making them more careful and smarter. The issue is that the fans think its changes the wrong thing about them: “Honestly, their stats, proficiencies, and spells were not the problem. Their tendency to actively suicide and take objectively bad actions was the problem.” It’s clear that Patch 6 made some improvements to the Gondians, as well as plenty of other things in the game, but there is still more work to be done. “Just yesterday I had one cast Grease over an open flame and have it immediately explode. It did nothing but damage and kill one of the other Gondians who was at low health but would’ve otherwise survived.” Despite its massive success, the Baldur’s Gate 3 community does see areas that it can improve and it’ll be up to the devs to do so.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players underwhelmed by game’s “terrible” endings – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players underwhelmed by game’s “terrible” endings Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 endings have disappointed some players who found them “terrible” compared to the rest of the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 was praised upon release by RPG fans for its extensive attention to detail, dialogue, and story options that left players feeling like the game was one of the most complete releases to date. The RPG let players decide whether they wanted their character to be a saint or straight-up evil, with the choices they made throughout their journey affecting the lives of their companions and ultimately the ending of 2023’s most celebrated RPG release. Based on the choices made the endings can dramatically vary, but for some players none of the endings lived up to the previous “absolutely fantastic” gaming experience of Baldurs Gate 3, leaving the player underwhelmed by the “terrible” finale to their character’s story. Players found “absolutely fantastic” Baldur’s Gate 3 ruined by “terrible” ending. One player complained about the endings, describing them as “terrible” and “hideous.” (Spoiler Alert) Players responded to the post, agreeing with the feeling that Baldur’s Gate 3 endings felt underwhelming, with one of the main gripes being the lack of companion endings: “The main issue is that not all companions had their endings shown..” For some, they felt that the immersive gameplay experience, dictated and responsive to nearly every decision made by the player, was missing from the endings as well, with decisions that felt huge to the player having little effect on the ending: “In my first run, right at the very end, I gave my goody two shoes protag a real Bilbo “why shouldn’t I keep it”-moment. “I quicksaved, stabbed Empy, controlled the brain, and became the new Absolute. …and got nothing. They showed 2 seconds of my newly mind-controlled companions clapping and that was it.” Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of the hottest launches of 2023, maintaining its dominance in the Steam charts months after the launch, but a few players hope that developer Larian Studios will change the endings to match the otherwise “absolutely fantastic” RPG experience.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players uncover touching Dark Urge detail – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players uncover touching Dark Urge detail Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 Dark Urge character is all about brutal thoughts, deadly acts, and questionable morals – but that doesn’t mean they’re all evil, as some players have recently found out. In Dungeons & Dragons, there are a variety of different players, each with their own preferences. One of those is called a murder hobo, and they prioritize, well, murder. They’re the kind of players that love combat and tends to push the morals of either the party or the campaign as a whole. This player was the exact reason the Dark Urge character was added to Baldur’s Gate 3. This character is an inherently evil person, with dark thoughts and actions usually taking the forefront. However, just because they seem awful, doesn’t mean they’re evil – which is exactly what some fans have recently discovered in one rather touching scene. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans can’t get over sweet Dark Urge detail Sharing their discovery on Reddit, one user highlighted how many will already recognize the Dark Urge being present in Orin’s chamber, but revealed a key detail fans may have missed: “You probably already know you can find what appears to be the default dark urge in Orins chambers, but what I haven’t seen a lot of people talking about is that if you examine the corpse he has non-lethal attacks turned on. He was fighting the urge up to the very last moment.” Non lethal attacks are a great way to take down an NPC without actually killing them, so you don’t write off the chance to talk to them or recruit them to your team, they’re also a good way to show mercy instead of just ending the enemy. However, for a Dark Urge to do this feels pretty unlike the characters, which naturally brought some players to the conclusion that “he was fighting the urge up to the very last moment.” While it’s certainly sweet, the comments were quick to jump on the fact that this sweet detail isn’t exactly as it seems, rather explaining that “that tag just appears on party member characters in their feature list like all togglable passives,” meaning the Dark Urge was likely just there to kill or be killed. That detail aside, it’s still a lovely thought that many wish was true – and who knows what was going through Durge’s head during the battle? It could have been a final repent.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players uncover the rarest campsites in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players uncover the rarest campsites in the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players usually only go to camp for a long rest or a romantic liaison, which is a shame, as there are some rare sights to be seen for those who aren’t discerning about where they lay their head. The campsite in Baldur’s Gate 3 was altered many times throughout the game’s early access period. The biggest change was that the camp would start to reflect the location where the party rested rather than being a generic open field or underground cavern. With the game’s full release, Baldur’s Gate 3 introduced lots of campsites that players could visit. It turns out that there are some elusive camps that can only be found by resting in very specific locations, as discovered by users of the BG3 Reddit. The rare campsite in question was the basement in the Blighted Village, where you can forge the Sussur weapon. Considering how dangerous the Blighted Village can be, it’s unsurprising that many players choose to sleep elsewhere. This hidden sleeping spot also has its uses in the harder difficulty modes. “I always make sure to camp here once,” one player recommended, “I call it the wine cellar because there’s plenty of free wine for early game long rests.” It’s also not the only obscure campsite in Act I. “Yeah, genuinely crazy that they made such hyper-specific resting areas, ” one user wrote, “Found the one they made to only show up inside the owlbear cave and nowhere else yesterday and I was so surprised.” As it turns out, most of the obscure campsites are located at the start of the game. “Yeah, there’s a specific camp location for every tiny scene change in Act I,” one user said, “But only three camps for the entirety of Act 3.” However, another user claimed Act 3 had four different campsites. As resting is tied to your food and drink supply, you have to be careful about how often you sleep in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially in Honour Mode. This means that plenty of players will never get to visit these hidden gem campsites, as they don’t want to run out of wine or grilled giant miniature space hamsters.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players unanimously name Astarion worst possible roommate – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players unanimously name Astarion worst possible roommate Larian StudiosDuring a discussion on which companion would make the best roommate, Baldur’s Gate 3 players reached the consensus that the fan-favorite Astarion would be awful to live with. Baldur’s Gate 3‘s companions have become quite popular since the game’s release last year. It seems everyone has strong feelings about each of them, for better or worse. It’s a testament to the game’s writing and the depth the developers put into each companion that makes characters like Astarion, Shadowheart, and Karlach feel like real, complex people to create emotional attachments with. However, there’s a huge difference between adventuring with someone and living with them. This has Baldur’s Gate 3 players discussing which companions would make good roommates – and most agree that certain ones are far better than others. Baldur’s Gate 3 players would rather live with Gale or Karlach than Astarion The question was posed by Reddit user vdov, who asked the BaldursGate3 subreddit “Which companion would you pick to be your college roommate?” While responses will certainly vary based on personal preferences, most commenters agree that one companion would be a terrible roommate: Astarion. As one of the top comments puts it, “Anyone but Astarion. Dude would definitely eat your groceries & refuse to wash his own dishes.” Given his attitude towards most people, it’s safe to assume Astarion would not be a great person to share an apartment or dorm room with. As for who players would want to live with, the most popular comments show Gale is the top contender for best roommate by a longshot since “he goes to sleep in a full oldschool pj dress and a hat at 8 p.m.” Gale is also canonically a good cook, and as an intelligent Wizard, he could help with homework. And, as a bonus for cat lovers, Gale might also bring Tara the tressym with him. The one downside some have noted is that Gale seems like the type to cry himself to sleep every night, but as others have pointed out, other companions probably come with worse sounds. Another popular choice is Karlach for her upbeat attitude and willingness to protect those she cares about. “I need all that positive energy,” said one commenter. However, others noted she’s pretty loud and (depending on how her heart’s doing) might burn your furniture. As with any roommate situation, any Baldur’s Gate 3 companion would certainly come with upsides and downsides. Wyll, for example, has players split; some say his “regular guy” vibe would make him good to live with, while other point out he may bring unwelcome guests like Mizora and “twenty creepy people that managed to con Wyll into allowing them inside the apartment.” Though there’s some agreement regarding characters like Gale and Astarion, it seems most Baldur’s Gate 3 companions would make better friends than roommates.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players thrilled by “essential” Withers glow-up mod – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players thrilled by “essential” Withers glow-up mod Nexus Mods: neonbutchery / Larian StudiosA mod that gives the mysterious and helpful undead Withers a makeover is gaining a lot of attention from Baldur’s Gate 3 players. Since launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been drawn to the strange and mysterious Withers. The skeletal entity is easily one of the most helpful NPCs in the entire game, allowing players to resurrect companions, recruit hirelings, and respec their characters and companions however they wish for a modest fee. With that in mind, it’s not a huge surprise that he’s been the subject of some mods, including one that’s getting a lot of attention from the Baldur’s Gate 3 community. Withers makeover mod draws Handsome Squidward comparisons Created by NexusMods user neonbutchery, “Very Handsome and Beautiful Withers” replaces some textures to smooth out Withers’ rough and decaying skin. Of course, this “glow-up” is getting some reactions online. “i cant believed mr withers got yassified,” said one NexusMods commenter, and one Twitter user jokingly called the mod “essential.” The emaciated skeleton – now with clear skin, defined cheekbones, and thick lips – has also received plenty of comparisons to celebrities like Cillian Murphy and Jeffree Star. Another common comparison is Handsome Squidward, which shares similarly distinct facial features with this modded Withers. Neonbutchery even acknowledges the similarities, including a Handsome Squidward meme on the mod’s page. While Withers’ skeletal look may be unsettling for some Baldur’s Gate 3 players, Very Handsome and Beautiful Withers might make him even more disconcerting. Regardless, some still prefer Withers just the way he is. As one Twitter user put it, “In a perfect world, this mod would exist but change literally nothing about him, bc withers is perfect the way he is.” If you liked this, be sure to check out the rest of our Baldur’s Gate 3 coverage, which includes the latest news, guides, and much more.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players thrilled by D&D Monster Manual Alt cover easter egg – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players thrilled by D&D Monster Manual Alt cover easter egg Larian StudiosThe alternate artwork for the new Dungeons & Dragons 5E Monster Manual has been revealed, and features a notable reference to Baldur’s Gate 3, which has delighted fans worldwide. D&D 5E is easily the most popular edition of the game, attracting millions of players to the hobby. The tabletop RPG has received an even bigger boost in popularity in 2023, thanks to the universal acclaim and incredible popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3, which adapts D&D 5E’s rules and world into video game form. As revised core rulebooks for D&D 5e are launching later this year, it’s only natural that Wizards of the Coast would reference Baldur’s Gate 3, seeing as it has attracted new people to the game. Dexerto exclusively revealed the alternate cover art for the new Monster Manual, which shows a Mind Flayer holding a tadpole and fans flocked to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit to show appreciation for this new cover, which references the game’s opening. The post erroneously refers to the Mind Flayer as The Emperor when it’s the unnamed creature from the intro who sticks the tadpole in the player’s eye. They appear to wear the same type of armor, leading fans to believe there’s a connection between the two, though it could also be the developers reusing a design. “I’m not usually a fan of the alt covers but this one is nice, unlike the PHB alt cover that’s coming (in my opinion),” one user wrote, while another said, “Oh boy here I go spending money again.” The Monster Manual alt cover isn’t the only one to reference Baldur’s Gate, as the regular version of the book also features Minsc and Boo facing a Beholder, proving that the D&D video games are becoming a substantial promotional aspect for the tabletop RPG. A cover that directly references Baldur’s Gate 3 will make that version of the Monster Manual a big selling point, especially for those who have finished their journey with Tav and want to start new adventures in the D&D multiverse.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think this companion is “too embarrassing” to walk around with – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think this companion is “too embarrassing” to walk around with Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a plethora of companions and each of them has very different personalities. Players have come across one such companion by the name of Wyll, but they feel it is too embarrassing to walk around with him in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is an exceptionally immersive game and companions make it even better. The fact that every companion has their own way of socializing and interacting with the players is what makes the game interesting. However, sometimes these NPCs can be a bit too much to deal with. One such NPC that players have come in touch with is Wyll. This NPC is quite important in the game but players feel his attitude is quite embarrassing to deal with. Baldur’s Gate 3 players compare Wyll to Starlord from Marvel The discussion regarding Wyll was started by a player named RainToadMaxine. The player asked a question “Is anyone else getting secondhand embarrassment from Wyll telling people who he is and then them roasting him?”. They also continued “Like dude, you’re ruining this for all of us the guards are definitely mocking you at their lil gates.” This led to an elaborate discussion as other players also joined in to participate. One such commented, “Wyll is best when you play as him lmao. But he does make the stupidest faces”. Another player commented, “Wyll is starlord confirmed”. One player also commented, “Wyll gives off Starlord vibes in GotG 1, when he had to explain to everyone like 3 times”. Lastly, a player also commented, “Wyll is the corny conscience of the team lol”. Therefore, it is quite clear that Wyll is more like a comic relief in the game despite the role that he plays. A comparison to Starlord from Marvel makes him one of those characters whom you cannot tolerate but you start missing them when they go missing.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think they’ve found a Critical Role Easter egg – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think they’ve found a Critical Role Easter egg Larian StudiosAn eagle-eyed player noticed two Baldur’s Gate 3 NPCs who resemble characters from Critical Role’s The Legend of Vox Machina. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game packed with lore and references to the larger Dungeons & Dragons world and beyond. Early on, fans were able to spot references to Avatar: The Last Airbender and Final Fantasy XIV. The latest find is pretty subtle and a bit closer to the game’s source material. This newly discovered reference within Baldur’s Gate 3 is a nod to the popular D&D playshow Critical Role, specifically the player characters from its first campaign. Baldur’s Gate 3 appears to reference Vox Machina’s Pike and Grog Reddit user lasuskis shared a screenshot of a gnome with long white hair and armor sitting at a table with a bald bearded man with markings on his head and an axe strapped to his back. These NPCs clearly resemble Campaign 1’s gnome cleric Pike Trickfoot and goliath barbarian Grog Strongjaw, played by Ashley Johnson and Travis Willingham, respectively. In both the original show and its animated adaptation, The Legend of Vox Machina, Pike and Grog are old friends. The two have treated each other like siblings since long before they joined the party, and their relationship is a huge part of the group’s dynamic. Some have noted that one of the Baldur’s Gate 3 characters’ names seems to confirm this is an intentional reference rather than a coincidence. The gnome’s name is Dame Guisarme, which is a medieval polearm -just like a pike. Plus, the two seem to be sitting in a tavern, which is fitting given Grog’s penchant for ale. With Critical Role Dungeon Master Matt Mercer playing returning companion Minsc in the game, it’s safe to assume Larian Studios is at least aware of Exandria and its inhabitants. While subtle and easy to overlook, Baldur’s Gate 3’s Critical Role Easter egg is a fun nod to what has become a huge part of the larger D&D world.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think one companion should have been available earlier – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think one companion should have been available earlier Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is filled with fantastic companions that never fail to make you cry, fall in love, or die with laughter. However, one of the funniest party members is introduced far too late into the game according to players. Whether it’s Astarion lulling you into a false sense of friendship, Lae’zel’s questionable friendship techniques, or Halsin’s constant need to try and romance your player, the Baldur’s Gate 3 companions are certainly one of a kind. It’s hard to imagine what the game would be like if they weren’t by your side, or if some were introduced a little bit earlier. This is exactly what players were wondering on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, with thousands insisting that poor Minsc had far from enough screen time and should have been introduced much earlier than Act Three. “Does anyone wish we got Minsc a little bit earlier” shared one user on the game’s Reddit, wondering why he came into the game through the third act rather than being introduced sooner to her can become fully fledged into the party. “I honestly don’t think the story would have suffered if Larian had seeded Minsc in Act 2 instead of Act 3″ commented one user, highlighting just how popular the decision would have been, and how little it would have impacted the story. Minsc arrives in Act Three, meaning most players have completed around 40-50 hours of the game by that point, depending on how long they take to get to Baldur’s Gate. However, fans believe this didn’t have to be the case, with many even coming up with perfect locations for him to be announced. One user revealed that they “would have put him in Moonrise Tower, fully under the influence of the Absolute, and made part of the quest to get Jaheira to require rescuing Minsc from the Absolute.” This would perfectly combine Jaheira and Minsc’s storylines, which is perfect considering their friendship in previous games. While it would be fantastic to see Minsc earlier in the game, one fan revealed why it wasn’t the case: “On one hand: I can understand why they wanted to save the “legacy” characters for later in the game – it gives fans of the first two Baldur’s Gate games a fun opportunity to see old favorites again, while still allowing the majority of the game to focus on the new characters.” However, they quickly argued the case that “Minsc is amazing and there’s no such thing as too much Minsc, so I would have liked to get more time with him as a proper part of the team. I hear he was even initially intended to be introduced earlier, but they moved him back for one reason or another.” While there’s no chance of Minsc’s story changing or him being introduced earlier on, it just goes to show who fans absolutely adore and would love to see more of.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think key companion’s recruitment is too “harsh” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think key companion’s recruitment is too “harsh” Larian StudiosAfter missing out on a major companion due to dice rolls, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player is making the case that Gale’s recruitment is too easy to fail. Baldur’s Gate 3 encourages players to recruit various companions on their journey, including Origin characters like Astarion, Shadowheart, and Karlach. Each of these characters adds depth to the story, providing new insight into the game’s world and the looming mindflayer crisis that seeks to overtake the Sword Coast. Of course, some characters are harder than others to recruit. This has one player arguing that Gale is too easy to completely miss out on despite how central he is to the main storyline. Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue Gale’s recruitment is too easy to fail As Reddit user stoodis- pointed out, Gale is the only companion in Baldur’s Gate 3 that players can miss by failing a dice roll. During their Honor Mode run, the player “failed two remarkably easy-to-fail skill checks on my Bard at level 1 (failed to read the portal, failed strength check),” which led to Gale completely disappearing. The experience led them to look back at how other companion recruitments work in comparison. As they explain, most are pretty easy to recruit so long as you’re not openly hostile. Even still, you can headbutt Astarion and fight Minthara and still have them join your party. In contrast, players can completely miss Gale just by failing a skill check. In this case, the player failed a DC 12 Strength roll, something that may be difficult for non-melee-focused characters at level 1 or 2. One commenter pointed out that something Gale says reads differently in this context, saying “No wonder ‘May the dice roll in my favor’ is one of his lines.” Another put it into Dungeons & Dragons terms, comparing losing Gale this way to “the DM killing a player character before you even see their face because you failed a skill check.” While some commenters have pointed out that other companions are harder to recruit, given how central Gale is to Baldur’s Gate 3’s plot, it is pretty surprising that he’s so easy to miss out on, especially in Honor Mode.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Hotfix 20 won’t fix all of Minthara’s issues – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Hotfix 20 won’t fix all of Minthara’s issues Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is concerned about an upcoming hotfix that they don’t feel is going to address enough issues related to Minthara. The Baldur’s Gate 3 devs are promising that an upcoming hotfix is going to address the known bug that causes Minthara to stop following the player’s group. While this bug has been around for a while, the community has more issues with Minthara that they feel should be prioritized. Now fans are voicing their concerns on social media, saying they hope there’s more to this hotfix than has been mentioned, so far. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans fear hotfix won’t do enough for Minthara The concerns are being voiced on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, where a player posted about the Hotfix coming this week. In the details for the Hotfix, the devs mention that it is aiming to make it so that Minthara will stay with the group in Acts 2 and 3. While this error is worth addressing, the Baldur’s Gate 3 community feels there are far more pressing issues related to Minthara, specifically a bug that causes Minthara to speak the wrong dialogue at certain times. “The follow bug is annoying yes, but the dialogue bug seems to affect everyone. And since she doesn’t have a companion quest, her commentary is the main reason to recruit her if you don’t romance her,” writes one Redditor. Another user says recently started a new playthrough to get more of the dialogue they are referencing, and is hopeful she will be fixed by then. In general, many Baldur’s Gate 3 fans think the update is redundant if it doesn’t focus on the most common bug impacting Minthara. There is also a good handful of users who mention even more Minthara-related bugs that need attention. It seems Minthara is quite a buggy character, and while the devs are making progress, there is still plenty the fanbase wants to see change.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Halsin’s bear form could be hiding a big secret – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Halsin’s bear form could be hiding a big secret Larian StudiosThere are a lot of secrets to be found in Baldur’s Gate 3, but it looks like players might be scraping at the bottom of the barrel with this new Halsin theory. Halsin has been in a bit of a strange position ever since the game launched. In contrast to the rest of the potential party members, players haven’t connected with him in the same way that they have with fan favorites like Astarion and Karlach. The druid may not have received as much love as the rest of his companions, but that hasn’t stopped players from investigating what his deal is- and his bear form seems to be under the spotlight. If you’ve seen any news about Baldur’s Gate 3, chances are you’ve seen the headlines detailing the surprisingly romantic options you can pursue with a bear, which is a consequence of romancing Halsin. Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Halsin was just a bear this whole time But now players are wondering if the bear form is actually the real Halsin, and the human side is the transformation. One eagle-eyed player proposed: “Halsin has mentioned that he keeps forgetting to shapeshift out of being a bear. And then we have the famous Halsin scene… What if Halsin actually just is a bear that has become a druid and is shapeshifting into a humanoid?” It wouldn’t be the first time something like this pops up in the game. The player also noted that: “In the druid camp we can talk to the cow and the cow more or less goes on a quest to try and become a druid.” So maybe Halsin was in a similar situation but was simply more successful? Stranger things have definitely happened in this game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think getting arrested is the worst part of Act 3 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think getting arrested is the worst part of Act 3 Larian StudiosOut of everything in Act 3, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans think the possibility of getting arrested by the Steel Watch is the worst hands-down. Act 3 is not only the biggest portion of Baldur’s Gate 3, but it’s also the time when players have the most content available to them. Plenty of sidequests that began in Act 1 and 2 have the opportunity to come to a close in Act 3, with characters and factions coming out the wordworks to aid you on your adventure. However, there are some less-than-fun portions of the RPG’s last act, and fans think getting arrested by the Steel Watch tops the list. A fan by the username ‘a-flying-fox’ sparked a discussion among the community after they made a post on the game subreddit titled, “Never forget the Gnomes.” It included a meme image that said the joy of finally making it to Act 3 crumbled after they got arrested and had to rearrange their entire party’s inventory all over again. Some fans in the comments felt the OP’s pain and noted just how long it takes to get one’s inventory back to how it was before. “This literally ruined a whole afternoon for me,” said one player. “Thought I was gonna have a bunch of hours to explore but NOPE! Get to figure out who’s carrying which potion now for the next 3.5 hours of my life.” However, many fans noted that they’d never been arrested in Act 3, with some even surprised it was a possibility. “When do you get arrested? I recall being told I’m getting arrested, and NPCs caused distractions after I chose a prompt. Ran straight through and wasn’t pursued,” one player said. For those who may not know, if one follows through with the Ironhand Gnomes sidequest throughout the game and are on good terms with them, they can save you from the Steel Watch should you get arrested. If you don’t interact with the Ironhand Gnomes, they won’t come to the rescue. Should Baldur’s Gate 3 fans not want a massive time sink on their hands, remember: Never forget the Ironhand Gnomes.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Alfira will be a party member in next update – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Alfira will be a party member in next update Larian StudiosAlfira is an incredibly popular NPC in Baldur’s Gate 3, with multiple players getting their hearts broken by the events of her being in their Durge run. However, she’s never been a fully recruitable companion… until now. (Spoilers for a Dark Urge run incoming.) If you’re playing as a Dark Urge, the chances are you’ve already had the ‘Alfira experience’. During this, she asks to join your camp, much to the thrill of unsuspecting players. However, during the night, your Dark urges take over, and she ends up well, not making it past the night. Naturally, this is devastating to much of the community, who had already gotten their hopes up that she was a recruitable companion, only to be utterly betrayed by the plot. However, this could be about to change. After the seventh major patch revealed more details before its release, players on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit have spotted some key Alfira changes. “Looks like Alfira will indeed be recruitable in Patch 7” posted one user, highlighting the one bullet point stating “Alfira can now be leveled up.” While this doesn’t guarantee her recruitment, currently the only characters that can level up are companions and the player. Naturally, this got the player base extremely excited, with many jumping to the comments to celebrate: “Holy s**t, now I’m excited af. When is the patch?” Others were a little wary, commenting: “As much as I would love Alfira to be a permanent companion, I think about all the dialogue and pathways they’d have to now implement + endings. The devs may surprise us as they have done in the past but it seems more likely that she’ll have a temporary place as a more fan service nod, than actual implementation into the full game.” However, along with the skepticism, other players were convinced that new lines could be coming, suggesting the recording as the reason for the patch delays: “So what if they delayed patch 7 to give the Alfira voice actor enough time to cover all the different voice lines and such! Can only hope.” Whether Alfira becomes a companion or not is yet to be seen, but giving her the ability to level up “could give modders something to work with” meaning she can easily become a companion in the future, regardless of whether she becomes one in patch 7 or otherwise. While nothing has been confirmed for Alfira in an official capacity, the community is certainly hopeful for the bard and would be thrilled to see her more than just one unfortunate night.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Act 3 should have been split in two – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Act 3 should have been split in two Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players believe that the game’s final Act should have been broken up into two sections to accommodate all the storylines introduced in Acts I and II. Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently broken up into three Acts. Act I involves the conflict between the Goblin Camp and the Druid Grove & Tieflings, Act II involves finding the Moonrise Towers and defeating Ketheric Thorm, while Act III finally brings the player to Baldur’s Gate, where they face their remaining foes. It’s no secret that players are dissatisfied with Act III, which isn’t as fleshed out as the others. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Upper City is nowhere to be seen, while the conflicts built up throughout the game are resolved in short boss battles, with the villains barely given any screen time compared to their predecessors. Act III in Baldur’s Gate 3 tends to overwhelm players with its open-ended nature, as they’re given an entire city with numerous quest markers to hit. Players believe they’ve come up with a solution for this problem by splitting the end of the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 needed an Act 4 A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit suggested a way to fix Baldur’s Gate 3’s latter section by splitting Act 3 into two, creating an Act 4 set in the Upper City. This would give the story the chance to give the villains breathing room and a chance to include a major portion of the city that was missing from the base game. “I also wish we had a content in Upper City as the 4th act,” one user wrote, “I heard that Cazador was supposed to have political intrigues there. In his palace we can read notes that he worried about Keene’s influence and Gortash’s Steel Watch. It would be nice to extend this line.” “I’m pretty sure that was the intent but time constraints did dirty to the characters you mentioned,” another user said, “Gortash was supporting to have more weight for Karlach and Dark Urge storylines in the same way Cazador supposed to have for Astarion. And they both would have a politics angle to their plots.” “Or we could have had it basically like it is right now,” one user suggested, “But the moment you defeat either Gortash or Orin, the other one moves into the upper city and becomes a more difficult boss fight, and you find some kind of clue that they left when you enter their first, now abandoned, fight area in addition to a secret way or key item that lets you enter the upper city.” There is speculation that Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive some kind of Definitive Edition in the future, one that will flesh out its latter half alongside extra content to incentivize another playthrough, such as more playable races and classes. If Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to receive content, then it’s the titular city that needs it the most, as it’s the part of the game that fans struggle with the most, both in terms of its focus and how it caps off long-running storylines.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Act 2 puzzle is “hardest boss yet” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Act 2 puzzle is “hardest boss yet” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has multiple difficult encounters that will push you to your limits. However, there is one puzzle in Act 2 that players feel is the hardest boss yet in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite possibly one of the most difficult games you can play. This is true for both new and older players who get overwhelmed by the sheer number of puzzles, bosses, and the intricacies of turn-based combat. As such, there is this one puzzle in Act 2, that you can find in the Necrotic Laboratory that players feel is the hardest boss in the game. This puzzle takes a lot of thinking and even then it can take a long time to solve unless you are following a guide. Baldur’s Gate 3 players feel Necrotic Laboratory puzzle is the hardest boss The discussion surrounding the topic was initiated by a Reddit user who posted, “Well after a long arduous battle overcoming a level 5 confusion spell and enduring 4 psychic damage with three additional turns of mental fatigue I am proud to say I finally defeated the most b******t boss yet with no spell slots left.” They also stated, “I need a Long Rest now.” This is something that several players agreed with and many of them joined in the discussion. One such user commented, “The hardest part of this was dealing with the console controls to actually click on the nodes I wanted to. You know it’s a problem when you feel like the camera angle is actively fighting you.” Another user chimed in as a reply to the aforementioned comment, “At least 3 times during this puzzle, the camera just fled the area at lightspeed to show me the casual darkness.” One user also stated, “This is the only place in the whole game where I felt handicapped by using a controller.” Finally, one of the users mentioned, “This puzzle is HELL if you’re badly color blind. never again.” Therefore, it is safe to state that several players found this puzzle difficult. It seems apart from the in-game difficulty there are other factors like bad camera movement and the bright colors which make the experience even more challenging.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players theorize perfect Durge romance option – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players theorize perfect Durge romance option Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have identified a potential match for the Dark Urge, and somehow, it’s someone who’s just as evil. It’s a busy life being a Durge player in Baldur’s Gate. There are so many people to murder, so many urges to fail to resist, and not much time to do it all in. No wonder so many players prefer to make a Tav. With all this murdering and scheming, it’s only natural that Durge playthroughs have less focus on the extensive romance options throughout the game. After all, it’s hard to romance Karlach for the third time when she leaves camp in horror of your actions. It makes sense then that players would turn to some of the less moral characters for romancing, and while one of them sadly isn’t available, most players seem to agree that he’d make a great partner for a budding Bhaalspawn. Durge players wish they could romance Gortash in Act 3 One player claimed that “Gortash should be a Durge exclusive romance”, because of how well they get on in the final stages of the game. It’s just a shame that Gortash is too busy trying to conquer the Sword Coast to pay attention to all of the cool OCs around him. “I walked in with my Durge and we were practically besties. He was trying to braid my hair and go get Starbies. “I didn’t get what people meant when they said it seemed like they were together at one point. But I see it now! Larian let my murder hobo kiss that grimy little man right now.” While some were definitely on board with the idea, there were a few dissenting opinions. One comment called out the entire community, telling them that “You guys have got to stop falling for every crazy killer with a shiny coat and a bad haircut.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players theorize Halsin is a bear in Elf’s clothing – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players theorize Halsin is a bear in Elf’s clothing Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are beginning to suspect that Halsin may not be the person he says he is. In fact, they believe he may not be an elf at all. Halsin was one of the first characters to gain attention when Baldur’s Gate was first released. This was due to the infamous scene of him transforming into a bear during a romantic cut scene early on in the game. Like many of the main characters in Baldur’s Gate, Halsin can be found during the first Act in the courtyard of the Grove. The same location where players can all find Wyll. While exploring the Grove, players learn of Druids who can morph into bears. Halsin is one of these Elf Druids but doesn’t show his bear form except on certain occasions. This has raised some questions about his true identity. Baldur’s Gate hints at Halsin’s true form One Redditor pointed out that it was suspicious that Halsin transforms into a bear when getting “too excited” during the infamous cutscene. Additionally, the lack of knowledge surrounding Halsin’s personal life was yet another suspicious identifier. “Why does he transform into a bear when he gets too excited when he’s about to bang you?” questioned the poster. “Wild shape requires intent, but a spell like “Polymorph” requires concentration. The crux of this argument – Halsin got too excited about being able to bang you, and broke his concentration, reverting back to his original shape. In conclusion, Halsin is totally a bear.” Commenters beneath the post were blown away by the mountain evidence against Halsin actually being a bear. A suspicion that only grows when the player finds out that Halsin loves honey – a classic trait of a bear. Halsin can also be seen transforming into a bear while trunk during the epilogue at the end of the game. Which another user pointed out could be yet another identifier of Halsin’s true intentions. “He also doesn’t drink during the Act 1 party,” said another user. “Maybe so he doesn’t give away the game too soon? Hmmm.” Larian Studios have not confirmed that Halsin isn’t who he says he is, but the in-game signs point to the druid’s true identity being concealed.
