  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused by friendly mindflayer encounter – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused by friendly mindflayer encounter Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players were confused when a mindflayer showed up at the campsite, seemingly for no reason. The campsite is meant to be your refuge from the trials of Baldur’s Gate. Sure, you might occasionally get a half-devil or a squad of Githyanki monks invading it occasionally, but for the most part, this is the safest place for you to be. Which is why the sudden appearance of a mindflayer had a lot of players scratching their heads. After all, they’re the main antagonists of the game (if you ignore the three gods, the two devils, the vampire lord, and the elder brain, of course). To make matters worse, the mindflayer appears to have the same model as the Emperor. Clearly keeping an eye on Tav requires getting a bit closer. One player highlighted the bizarre interaction on the Baldur’s Gate subreddit, asking: “I’m just having a civil conversation with Wyll about Mizora, why is there a mind flyer in my camp, is this a glitch?” It’s unknown what exactly caused the bug, but that didn’t stop several players from having fun with it. “He’s not needed on set until the final boss battle so he’s just kind of hanging about until then,” one player joked. “People can’t even hang out in public without some random dude getting a pic of you and posting it on Reddit.” Let’s hope the mindflayer doesn’t miss any of his important cutscenes.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused by Act 3’s impossible architecture – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused by Act 3’s impossible architecture Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are trying to figure out just how stable the game’s most famous city is, and the answer is quite confusing. Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 takes place in the titular city, and your party gets to explore all of the nooks and crannies throughout the settlement, including everything hidden underneath. It’s an overwhelmingly large city, perhaps too large for some players, and all the buildings, castles and circuses balancing on the top of it can’t be good for the structure. However, the city still seems to be standing. The thing that has players so confused is that there are a surprisingly large number of secret bases and societies hidden under the city, making most of the ground underneath it hollow. Surely the weight of the city should have made it collapse a long time ago? Players don’t understand how Baldur’s Gate is still standing One player compiled a list of some of the secret hollow structures underneath Baldur’s Gate, asking: “How the heck is Baldur’s Gate still standing? “I mean with the Temple to Bhaal, the sewers, Cazador’s dungeon, and Ansur’s trials, the city should have collapsed ages ago. Seems like all it would take is a ton of rain or an angry wizard or an artificer having a bad day for everything to come crashing down.” There’s also the prison under Wyrm’s Rock, as well as all the tremors being caused by the Elder Brain. Maybe the city really is doomed after all. Several players compared Baldur’s Gate to Waterdeep, the city Gale comes from, by suggesting that the latter was actually even more unstable. One player said: “Waterdeep’s built on top of a giant dungeon that’s not particularly anchored to the current plane of reality. Baldur’s Gate’s sewer system is small potatoes compared to that nonsense.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused about Wyll’s purpose in Ansur’s Trials – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players confused about Wyll’s purpose in Ansur’s Trials Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is having a hard time understanding how Wyll isn’t a good fit for the Ansur’s Trials section of the game. Ansur’s Trials are one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s pieces of side content that can be completely missed if players aren’t looking carefully enough, making it an exciting find during a playthrough. Once found, the trials offer a set of challenges that must be completed, and they are seemingly well-equipped for one companion in the game: Wyll. However, the players are realizing that he might not be as good of an option to have in the trials and they really don’t understand why. Baldur’s Gate 3 players don’t get Wyll’s use in Ansur’s Trials A post was made on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit that brought up how Wyll fails in each of the four trials that have to be completed in this section. “He has heart, charm, and ambition, but I feel like it’s such a subtle demonstration of how he’s not suited to lead. Either because he isn’t a leader or because he just isn’t ready yet.” This has sparked a conversation about Wyll and his characteristics, what they are best suited for, and how or if they can be useful in Ansur’s Trials. “Yeah this really drives me crazy. The quest has Wyll written all over it but he barely features. Contrast with the Gauntlet of Shar for Shadowheart – I think at minimum, it does a better job of illustrating the mentality and expectations that were instilled within her.” There are those, however, that think Wyll is far more suited for the Trials than other fans are giving him credit for, as he offers plenty of solid advice throughout. As one user mentions, Wyll can give players the answer for one Trial as long as the proper books are read beforehand, so “he’d pass at least 2 of the 4 trials.” Others are pointing to the flaws in the design of the Trials themselves, since many view them as being more of afterthought in design than other parts of Baldur’s Gate 3: “It’s not that Wyll is ill-suited, rather the whole area is just a total mess and wasn’t given nearly the same attention Shar Gauntlet got.” Whatever the reasons may be, it is clear that there is something not matching up in Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to Wyll and Ansur’s Trials.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players complain patch 4 “broke” its final act – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players complain patch 4 “broke” its final act Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is in some turmoil as players report some major issues with the game’s third act. Following the latest major patch, performance issues and bugs have severely dampened the experience. Baldur’s Gate 3 is not just one of 2023’s biggest video game releases, its uncanny mass appeal has made it one of the most-played games of all time. The seemingly niche CRPG has captured the imagination of players worldwide and netted eight nominations at the 2023 Game Awards. Its success and popularity have placed Baldur’s Gate 3 high in GOTY contender lists since its stellar launch but some have suggested that its performance should preclude it. Early issues with the game’s final act were initially resolved by Larian but the game’s most recent patch has seen them rear their ugly head once more. Reddit user u/King_Brass took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Subreddit with a complaint that “patch 4 broke Act 3”. Many players across the two platforms the game is currently available on have echoed the sentiment. Baldur’s Gate 3 players report numerous issues after patch 4 Relaying their experience with the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam, u/King_Brass claimed that “the entire environment in Act 3 is shut down”. They reported issues such as companions not following the player character, NPCs and broken interactions halting progress, and problems with saving or loading the game. Severe lag was also mentioned in their initial post but it seems that these issues are not exclusive to the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3. “It is even worse on PS5,” one player explained. “I was on my second playthrough, and the game is unplayable after reaching Act 3,” another PlayStation 5 player admitted. “Literally passing the Basilisk Gate is when your party will stop following and start to lag.” On top of the problems initially relayed by u/King_Brass, players reported massive loading times and companions freezing regularly. Users in the comments have petitioned Larian Studios to “fix the game” as soon as possible. While PC and PlayStation 5 players are currently struggling with these issues in Baldur’s Gate 3’s final act, a far bigger problem is plaguing Xbox users. All 3 acts of Baldur’s Gate 3 are currently unplayable on the console. Larian will announce a solution to that particular matter at the Game Awards on December 8, 2023. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait and see if the studio can resolve the Act 3 problems from the latest patch soon and prove worthy of the Best Community Support nomination they’ve worked so hard for.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players compare dialogue with Skyrim – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players compare dialogue with Skyrim Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have compared the game’s dialogue with that of another RPG titan from over a decade ago: Skyrim, and the verdict is surprising. Baldur’s Gate 3 comfortably became one of the best games of 2023, and for many players, the best game in a decade. The meaningful choices, brilliant voice acting, and stellar writing in the game all combine to make dialogue engaging and impactful, and it’s a massive part of why people are calling it one of the best RPGs ever made. With claims like that being thrown around, it was inevitable that players would eventually start comparing it with some of the other top RPGs, and there’s only one place a conversation like that goes. when it comes to RPGs, all roads lead to Skyrim. It’s not the first time that Baldur’s Gate 3 has been compared with a Bethesda title, which are/were the gold standard for role-playing games. Due to how close their release was, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield were closely examined and compared, with many players concluding that the former was the superior game. Baldur’s Gate 3 player disappointed upon revisiting Skyrim To be fair, Skyrim is more than ten years old at this point. Game development has come a long way since 2011, as has writing and narrative design in the industry. But that didn’t stop some Baldur’s Gate players from feeling like Bethesda just couldn’t keep up anymore. One player, who went back to Skyrim on one of its seemingly infinite platforms, was disappointed by the experience, saying: “It just doesn’t compare. Recently just went back to Skyrim after buying it again. It just doesn’t hold up for me anymore, waste of $10.” Several other players agreed, with another even suggesting that Skyrim’s dialogue wasn’t that far off from Starfield’s in 2023: “This was the case playing Starfield. At least Skyrim has the excuse of being 12 years old.” For more news and updates on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out this warning for why you shouldn’t play fetch with Scratch the dog.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players clown Flaming Fist Marcus’ tadpole choices – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players clown Flaming Fist Marcus’ tadpole choices Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have started to make fun of Flaming Fist Marcus’ tadpole powers that simply gave him a pair of wings. Players who’ve made it to Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3 likely remember the significant encounter with Flaming Fist Marcus at Last Light Inn. After speaking with Isobel, the player and their party are accosted by Flaming Fist Marcus, who has sold out to the Absolute and was given a pair of jet-black wings as a result. However, some fans have started making fun of Flaming Fist Marcus on social media after noting that his tadpole powers seem slightly underbaked. Baldur’s Gate 3 community clowns Flaming Fist Marcus A post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit gained traction among the community after one fan made a meme thread titled, “Fist Marcus was not a complex man.” The OP attached a meme image that essentially made fun of Flaming Fist Marcus’ choice of simply getting a large pair of wings from the Absolute, instead of another ability that would make him even more powerful. Fans in the comments made fun of the decision to gain wings, noting that the ability to fly is already easy to come by in the world of Baldur’s Gate. “To be fair, wings are cool, but seriously, this is a world where you can just buy potions or scrolls that let you fly with no wings. so f*ck this guy, mind control or not, he should have asked for something better…” A few fans were curious as to how he actually got his wings, with some pointing to a dead Aasimar that can be found in Act 2. This revelation makes Marcus’ wings a bit darker. Some players defended his choice of power. “In fairness to him, if you speak with dead on him, he says his squad got captured, implying that the tadpole was unwillingly received. The wing thing is probably some rough tadpole play on power hungriness.” Regardless, it does seem a bit silly that Marcus asks for the wings, given the power of flight is not something all too hard to come by in Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim there’s a “wrong” way to play the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim there’s a “wrong” way to play the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 may allow players to play the game the way they want, but according to some players, there’s actually a “wrong” way to play the game. A part of Baldur’s Gate 3 charm is essentially giving players the freedom to progress through the game the way they want. Players are always free to take their time completing quests and exploring places, meaning anyone can jump in the game and play at their own pace. Depending on your choices, the game will lead you to different endings. And despite this being up to the player’s choice, a portion of the community claims that there’s a “wrong” way to play the game. This started in a Reddit thread, where a player shared their friend’s experience of playing the game in under 60 hours. The player mentioned they were surprised when their friend told them he was done with the game despite only playing “a little bit more than 50 hours.” At first, the OP was a bit shocked, but they wanted their friend to “play the game the way he wanted to.” They added, “From time to time, he told me that he either steamrolled through the fights or really struggled with normal encounters, which confused me again, but I thought ‘you do you’ and let it go.” After digging for more information, it turns out that their friend had only done the main quests, skipping all the other quests outside of them. Ultimately, their friend decided to have Gale blow himself up, ending the game in Act 2. The OP wrote, “I believe that everyone should play how they want to, but doing what he did and then saying that the game was ‘mid’ and he wouldn’t play again just makes me kind of angry.” Players in the comments were baffled, and some didn’t hesitate to point out that was the “wrong” way to play the game, given the “cheese ending.” One user mentioned that the friend did the playthrough wrong because they opted to speedrun the game, meaning they missed out on many combat and magic items that could add or change their build, adding to the “potential level-ups to explore.” “So even if someone only enjoys combat and build crafting, the best way to play is still to explore and experience as much of the game as you can,” they explained. There were also players who just straight-up roasted the OP’s friend. “So, generously, he played 30% of the game and lost,” one person wrote. Meanwhile, another claimed, “So, he played a game called Baldur’s Gate without ever seeing Baldur’s Gate…” While Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to play the game the way they want, it’s clear that some players prefer to explore everything in the game and not rush things out.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim simple action is better than most Level 3 spells – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim simple action is better than most Level 3 spells Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community has rejected the need for complicated magic spells, and is instead focusing on the beautiful simplicity of pushing their enemies off of cliffs. There are so many ways of dealing with foes in Baldur’s Gate 3. Assuming you even want to fight them, and don’t want to charisma your way through every interaction, each class engages with combat in a unique way that ties perfectly into the game’s RPG status. But with hundreds of actions, spells, and weapons at your fingertips, few of them can come close to one of the most powerful abilities in the game, and Baldur’s Gate 3 players have crowned it as one of the best in the game. If you’ve spent any time in the game, you’ve probably reached the same conclusion: Shove is absolutely broken. Baldur’s Gate 3 players crown Shove as best action in most fights In a post on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, one player joked that Shove was far superior to most of the AOE spells in the game, the most powerful of which are usually Level 3. Think spells Fireball and Lightning Bolt. But Shove doesn’t need levels, spell charges, or any other fancy complications. All you need is a pair of hands and a bit of good luck. What makes this action so powerful is that Larian Studios can’t seem to be able to resist the urge to put bottomless pits in basically every encounter in the game. You could be walking through a perfectly stable dungeon and suddenly see a significant enemy standing on a very unsturdy-looking bridge. Are you really going to roll the dice on an unreliable spell when you could just tell Karlach to push them off the edge? Just make sure you have enough strength to pull it off, because if it fails, you’re standing next to a really angry enemy. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one party member is much stronger than the rest – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one party member is much stronger than the rest Larian StudiosRedditors discussing the various in-game feats of Lae’zel have heralded her as one of Baldur’s Gate 3’s strongest characters. There’s already been a lot of discourse about Baldur’s Gate 3, specifically around the best moments and the best party members. There are some unusual choices and discoveries, though. Players have already discovered that Owlbears love capitalism, evidently, and or even finding a new enemy type hundreds of hours into the game. But the most common topic of conversation is who is the best member of the party. One such Redditor has claimed it’s a surprising character, as many may not have used her to her fullest capabilities. Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim Lae’zel is the strongest party member A Reddit post by user Searchlights champions Lae’zel as the strongest member of the party. The post is a meme of Atlas holding the world. Atlas is captioned “Lae’zel,” while the world is captioned “My entire 1st playthrough.” Other players in the thread agreed, singing the praises of Lae’zel and her various feats of strength during their campaigns. “In my first playthrough, Lae’zel was the one who defeated the elder brain. Doctors might call what she did a corpus callosotomy,” one user said. “Lae’zel best and strongest girl, she’s absolutely amazing when geared out,” another user added. “plus she’s the only companion aside from Minthara who can naturally use heavy armor, which is great.” Lae’zel, at her base stats, begins Baldur’s Gate 3 with 17 strength, which ties her with Karlach for the highest strength in the game. However, Lae’zel’s Fighter class and unique Githyanki race abilities mean she quickly scales up the ladder, as some fans pointed out. “Between Laezel and Karlach I prefer Laezel,” one user said, championing Lae’zel over the fan-favorite Tiefling Barbarian. “Even without the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane the blue version of it deals huge damage with the psychic damage.” Beyond just strength, though, there were, of course, those who were just fond of Lae’zel in general. She has a prominent role in Baldur’s Gate 3’s story and receives perhaps the most unique characterization of any party member. “Love of my life. Taste of my tongue. Source of my bruises. My one and only,” a user lovingly said in reference to her romance subplot. “It’s her story,” one added conclusively. “You’re just a companion.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one item could prevent major villain’s origin – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim one item could prevent major villain’s origin Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community have a ball trying to explain why one of the game’s villains couldn’t avoid becoming one. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a complex game with complex characters that all have various motivations to do what they do in the game’s story. Players have taken to speculating about a lot of these characters and sharing their interpretations on what they have been through. Now, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player is wondering why one of the game’s villains had to become one at all, and the rest of the community is having a real good time trying to explain it. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans love figuring out how a villain became evil The villain in-question is Ketheric Thorm, who is on a mission to bring his daughter, Isobel, back and thus falls in with the wrong crowd. A Baldur’s Gate 3 player is wondering why he didn’t go a different route, though, as they took to the game’s subreddit to ask why he didn’t just use a Scroll of Revivify to bring Isobel back. The community is certainly having a good time trying to answer this question, with many users getting deep in their creativity to figure it out. “Isobel’s death location was glitched and he couldn’t target her with the spell.” Another player wants to believe that Ketheric just completely forgot about Revivify as a possibility, and just went straight to villainy as a result. One user uses game mechanics to explain the decision, saying that Isobel must have “died in a cutscene” so her death is a canon event. However, there is one Baldur’s Gate 3 fan that explains it using lore: “To play devil’s advocate, I don’t think Kethric knew about Isobel’s death for at least a few days after her passing, rendering Revivify useless.” They mention how Revivify can only be used in a short amount of time after death, which would render it useless should Ketheric find out too late. While the true reasoning isn’t known, it isn’t stopping these fans from finding a way to talk about their favorite game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim game is almost impossible without a vital stat – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim game is almost impossible without a vital stat Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 fans are realising the implications of keeping a vital stat low – making the game unbelievably tough. In a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, almost all stats are vital. Your class requires a certain focus, then you need to put some points into your Constitution for health, Dexterity for Armor Class, and Wisdom for Initiative. On top of this, you also have Charisma, Strength, and Intelligence to think about, which means at least something will have to suffer. For more players, the elements that suffer are either Intelligence or Charisma, provided they don’t choose a class that focuses on those stats. Now, Baldur’s Gate 3 players are realising the implications of a low Charisma roll, which can cost the lives of Companions, NPCs, or even your character. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t believe how tough the game is without vital stat Posting onto Reddit, one user explained how they’ve “had to re-load 10 times just to pass a DC 10 Persuasion check to keep Shadowheart from killing Lae’zel during a long rest,” sharing how their low Charisma stat meant this encounter was so much harder. The fan also slammed the game for this mechanic, stating how they found it frustrating to be forced into a high Charisma character, going on to say: “I’m not going to lose a whole party member just because I decided to play a Rogue and not a Bard, Paladin or Sorcerer.” The post quickly took off, with plenty of comments echoing the same frustrations. One user explained how they “got tired of being bad at skills, so I made a Githyanki Knowledge Cleric, Urchin background” to better suit such rolls. While other players certainly felt that you could just increase your Charisma, the poster also found it frustrating regarding the lack of items to help with this issue, stating how it “Would be nice if there was a ‘Hat of Charisma’ or something to give you at least an 18. Like the Gloves of Dexterity or the Headband of Intellect” instead of just forcing the player into major disadvantages. One sentiment that many fans shared was the frustration regarding not being able to use Companions to make these rolls. One user explained that “it’s a challenge in the game that there are a bunch of situations that force Tav to roll instead of relying on your companions’ skills. You can have Astarion pick every lock, but you can’t make Wyll handle all your Persuasion rolls.” Such a fix could make players’ lives much easier, but does eliminate the idea of Tav being a main character. Ultimately, when creating your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to be extremely careful with your stats, particularly one as important as Charisma.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim devs forgot key aspect of Wyll’s character arc – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players claim devs forgot key aspect of Wyll’s character arc Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are convinced that the developers may have forgotten one key aspect of Wyll’s character arc in Act 1 after a player was surprised by a lack of dialogue when meeting Mizora. There’s something just so fantastical about the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. With the vast amount of characters, locations, and interactions spread throughout the huge sprawling world, it’s no wonder many players get lost in Faerun. Much of this is due to the sheer continuity within the world, wherein each player’s decision has echoing impacts that affect the entirety of Faerun. This is also true for many of the character stories, where once you make one choice, you won’t be able to go back and do the other in the same play-through. This is all thanks to Larian Studios’ hard work at ensuring Baldur’s Gate 3 remains consistent with all of its little details. However, some players are convinced that the devs may have forgotten about a key aspect of Wyll’s character arc in Act 1. Players were befuddled after deciding to kill Karlach in Act 1. They “decided to believe the paladins of Tyr are actual paladins” and took the offer to slay Karlach. After approaching Karlach without connecting their minds, they headed straight into battle. They pointed out that both Wyll and the player only knew Karlach as a monster who needed to die, with no evidence pointing otherwise. That’s what made them so confused when Wyll was upset for killing an innocent Tiefling when neither the party members nor Wyll had known. Other users chimed in, finding the gap in the lore interesting: “Yet the Paladins of Tyr asked for her head. You’d think someone would notice something was up.” Fortunately, a well-informed lore master came up with an explanation for this: devils return to their home plane when killed, hinting that Karlach’s normal death meant she wasn’t a Devil. Of course, at that point, it’s a little too late to save her. So, it seems there was a lore explanation for all of this in the end, with the devs seemingly having thought of every possible scenario to ensure players’ immersion is never broken.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players charmed by new epilogue cameo as notable dev joins the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players charmed by new epilogue cameo as notable dev joins the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have been charmed by the new epilogue that features a prominent dev as an important cameo. Larian Studio’s CRPG Baldur’s Gate 3 has become an absolute gaming monument in 2023. The title saw staggering levels of acclaim both critically and commercially, with players falling in love with the characters, story, and world. Those like Astarion and Karlach breached pop culture discourse, delving into players’ hearts. And the developers have no plans on stopping the updates with Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios has been hard at work frequently patching the game with quality-of-life features, new story content, and bug fixes to ensure the player base is kept satiated. In the game’s most recent Patch 5 update, players were particularly delighted to see the studio highlight an important dev that has composed the games’ many and varied tunes. As first reported by GamesRadar, Larian Studios composer Borislav Slavov was seen in the game’s new epilogue. Wither’s hosts a big old party, inviting gods of the Forgotten Realms to pay homage to you and your journey. The composer appears as the Forgotten Realm’s god of music, Milil, who performs for you. Slavov has worked with Larian for quite some time now, also composing works for Divinity Original Sin 2, and now their score for Baldur’s Gate 3 is being nominated for best music at 2023’s Game Awards. And of course, in typical Baldur’s Gate 3 fashion, the player is able to deduce Milil’s true identity by speaking with them and passing a Religion check. Alternatively, they can use Deception to flatter him and get them to play different tunes from the Baldur’s Gate 3 soundtrack. Whilst we didn’t get an official confirmation, the composer did sheepishly respond on Twitter, hinting that their appearance may be more than just an incident.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players charmed by cats reacting to in-game animals – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players charmed by cats reacting to in-game animals Larian StudiosAfter a Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared an image of their cat reacting to an in-game feline, others are sharing how their own pets react to the game. Baldur’s Gate 3‘s world is packed with deep, interesting characters to interact with, and that doesn’t stop with the humaniods. The spell Speak with Animals (or a potion that grants its effects) is all but essential, as many of the Sword Coast’s animals have plenty to say. This ranges from wholesome interactions with Scratch to fittingly smug cats to darker revelations about the world, such as what happened to the Owlbear cub’s older brother. It’s not just human players who love interacting with these creatures, though, as some have shared pictures and stories of their real-life pets getting really excited over certain characters. Cats love Baldur’s Gate 3’s animals and villains As Reddit user Dwanye_Dirac_Johnson shared, their cat was “half asleep on my lap” until the cat Malta appeared. Seeing her clearly got the real feline’s attention as an image of the cat getting slow to the monitor to stare at Malta shows. Players are understandably delighted by the picture. “Larian really put love interests for EVERYONE in this game,” said one commenter. Others discussed their own cats’ reactions to Baldur’s Gate 3 and its animals. “My cat gets excited seeing Scratch EVERY SINGLE TIME!” shared a user, along with a picture of their pet trying to get as close as possible to the screen. It’s not just the game’s animals that are getting cats excited. As another player shared, “My cat for whatever reason is obsessed with Orin. Whenever she’s on the TV she’ll go up and start slapping the screen with her paws lol.” That story prompted the original poster to note, “It makes sense, all cats crave violence,” and another to claim, “All cats are bhaal spawn.” Considering how brutal of a villain Orin is, it’s no surprise she would appeal to that part of cat life.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player’s character has AC so high enemies ‘don’t bother attacking’ – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player’s character has AC so high enemies ‘don’t bother attacking’ Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have created some impressive builds, including a tank with an impressively high armor class of 27. In the weeks since the game released, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been accomplishing some impressive things with their characters. From recreating rock bands to Monks that deal hundreds of points of damage every turn, players are clearly having fun with the game’s character creator and various customization features that allow for infinite build possibilities. One build in particular makes a character so hard to hit that, according to the poster, enemies don’t even try. Baldur’s Gate 3 build gives character an armor class of 27 Reddit user xXDANG3RDANXx shared how they accomplished a whopping AC 27. While they don’t provide specifics, such as the character’s class or stats, the breakdown makes it pretty clear what’s happening. 18 of the character’s AC comes from the heavy armor they’re wearing. Having armor equipped also triggers the class passive Defence, adding another point. The character’s shield, shoes, gloves, and cloak also contribute to their armor class. On top of all the equipment, the character is also benefiting from two buffs: the Cleric and Paladin spell Shield of Faith and the Cleric’s Warding Bond. The former adds +2 to AC, while the latter binds two allies together, giving them damage resistance, plus buffs to AC and saving throws. In exchange, if one takes damage, the other is hurt as well. While Shield of Faith requires concentration, Warding Bond lasts until the party long rests. Though it’s possible to get your AC even higher – one commenter claims to have Lae’zel at AC 30 without buffs – xXDANG3RDANXx says they don’t see the point in trying. As they joke in the post’s title, it seems enemies will often avoid targeting characters who are that hard to hit. They don’t go into detail about this experience, but commenters seem to be experiencing the same issue, with enemies exclusively going after weaker characters. One also pointed out a similar issue was present in Larian Studios’ previous game, Divinity: Original Sin 2. The fact that enemies don’t bother attacking such a beefy tank makes an AC this high unnecessary. Still, it’s an impressive stat and shows how much Baldur’s Gate 3 players have been able to push the game’s mechanics – whether that’s for combat power or humorous reasons.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players celebrate the tender side of upcoming NSFW mod TumblrBaldur’s Gate 3 players are excited about the more docile side of an upcoming NSFW mod and share the features they are most excited about. Baldur’s Gate has been one of the fastest-growing games since its release in August 2023. Since then the game has been released on most major consoles like Xbox and PlayStation in addition to its original PC-only release. One of the contributing factors behind the success of Bladur’s Gate is its compatibility with mod integration on PC. There are hundreds of mods to choose from in order to enhance your gameplay; from party extensions to clothing additions, there is something for everyone. The rumor of a new sex mod coming to the game has fans excited, but not for the reasons you may think. Baldur’s Gate fans want more hugs and hand-holding A Reddit post revealed that a creator of an upcoming NSFW mod allegedly said that they were initially making a mod to add more touching interactions to the game. This includes things like kissing, hugging, and hand-holding to the game. While there are romance-like options for players to explore in Baldur’s Gate, fans think there should be more interactions between their Tav and whichever partner they have chosen to romance. “Literally all I want is to be able to actually move into Karlach’s tent and cuddle for long rests,” said one user under the post. “Feels so weird to say I love you, then still sleep on our four little equidistant bedrolls. Well, that and to be able to decorate my camp like the Sims…” One of the most requested actions beneath the Reddit post is a hugging feature for character interactions. Multiple users said they would love the opportunity to hug one of their companions, even if not romancing them, simply because they seem to need it.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players celebrate fan-favorite Bing Bong becoming canon in Patch 5 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players celebrate fan-favorite Bing Bong becoming canon in Patch 5 Larian StudiosAn observant Baldur’s Gate 3 player spotted a reference to Bing Bong from the D&D stream featuring members of the game’s cast, and fans are thrilled the imp is finally canon. Baldur’s Gate 3‘s latest update is its biggest yet in terms of new content for players to enjoy. While previous patches have refined the story and gameplay, Patch 5 adds new epilogues, Minthara changes, and more. It also makes some fan-requested changes like allowing players to access and manage the inventories of companions who aren’t in the party and – perhaps most importantly – finally makes a fan-favorite character from the cast’s Dungeons & Dragons stream canon. Bing Bong from the voice actor D&D session is finally canon in Patch 5 Back in September, several of Baldur’s Gate 3’s voice actors took part in a Dungeons & Dragons stream aired on High Rollers’ Twitch and YouTube channels in which they played their characters from the video game. During it, High Rollers’ Mark Hulmes led the party through an adventure during which the party met an adorable imp in a bowtie named Bing Bong. The little guy proved divisive, with Shadowheart (Jennifer English) loving him and Lae’zel (Devora Wilde) hating him. Ultimately, Bing Bong died when Lae’zel set him on fire to use as a weapon. Since the stream, fans have been begging Larian to make Bing Bong canon. Some even went so far as to mod him into the game as a summon. Now, it’s become clear that Larian heard those calls, as a new line of dialogue spotted by Reddit user wew_lad- confirms the party met Bing Bong at some point during their journey. Shadowheart now has a line in which she mentions “that stray imp that joined us – Bing Bong, wasn’t it?” It’s not clear when or under what circumstances this line of dialogue takes place, or if any other companions reference the stream or Bing Bong. It is fitting that, at the very least, Shadowheart talks about him considering how much English loved him. Mark Hulmes, Bing Bong’s creator, has also seemingly addressed the addition in a vague tweet. Fans are similarly thrilled by the game now acknowledging Bing Bong, with many thanking Larian and calling them “god tier” for listening to the Baldur’s Gate 3 community. “You just can’t help but love Larian and how much attention they’re paying to the community,” said one fan. “This is Citadel DLC levels of fan service and I’m not even mad, well played Larian,” said another commenter, referencing Mass Effect 3’s beloved final DLC pack. Although the poor imp met an unfortunate fate in the livestream, it seems pretty safe to say that, following Patch 5, there has finally been justice for Bing Bong. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t take Act 3’s “weeb” villain seriously – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t take Act 3’s “weeb” villain seriously Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have taken a new stance on one of the game’s most prominent antagonists, though it might not be the perspective that he would want. The wide range of villains in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a big part of what makes the story so compelling. When you add in the fact that you could treat several other characters as antagonists, depending on how you roleplay, the possibilities are nearly limitless, and that’s before we’ve even touched on Durge playthroughs. However, not all villains are born equal, and there’s one late-game antagonist that just doesn’t command the same presence as the rest of the rogues gallery. It was always going to be a tough act following Act 2’s Ketheric Thorm, especially with JK Simmons’ impeccable voice-acting, but players just don’t feel the same way about Enver Gortash, chosen of Bane. Baldur’s Gate 3 players just don’t feel intimidated by Gortash Ironically, Gortash is meant to be the most imposing of the Dead Three. As the Chosen of the tyranny god, you’d expect him to be more intimidating, but he’s pretty chill in person, and offers you a place at his side ruling the world almost immediately when you reach Act 3. To cap it all off, players just aren’t sold on his style, which doesn’t match the look that Ketheric and Orin were going for. One player on the Baldur’s Gate subreddit asked: “Am I the only one who can’t take Gortash seriously? Like seriously, the guy looks like a middle-aged Weeb cosplaying Final Fantasy.” Several players agreed, with one comment reading: “When they referred to him as the handsome man in my second playthrough I fricken guffawed, like there’s no way they thought that hairstyle with that old dude face went well together.” It doesn’t help that the narration insists that Gortash is a young, handsome man, despite his model looking significantly older.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop purposely skipping this part of the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop purposely skipping this part of the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players admit to skipping this particular part of the game in their runs to the point they’d rather find the missing XP somewhere else. Once you experience beating the game for the first time, there’s likely at least one part you’d dread the most in your next Baldur’s Gate 3 run. For some players, that’d be encountering the Addled Frog near Auntie Ethel’s house or even going all the way to Grymforge to beat the big bad. One thing that hasn’t quite changed after about a year, however, is how the Gauntlet of Shar is still one that a portion of the community skips in their run ever since someone found out a method to do it. And with the Faith Leap Trial being ‘fixed’ in Patch 7, players in a Reddit thread are once reminded of how frustrating this part of Baldur’s Gate 3 can be to the point some would opt to skip it even though there are methods to cheese the trial. Following an image referring to savescumming the entire Faith Leap Trial, one user wrote: “This is why Knock exists. Ain’t nobody got time for the runner-up B**** Queen’s stupid trials.” Meanwhile, one user mentioned: “Yeah, you can get the ‘missing’ XP elsewhere. First time is enough to do the gauntlet. 2nd time is boring. 3rd time, f*** that s****.” “Yup. It f***ing sucks, that is literally my most hated room in the game. I’ve now gotten to the point that I just get the other three Umbral Gems and Feather Fall down to the platform. I know I could also Knock on the door, but I may as well get the experience from doing the other two,” commented another user. “I just grab the one gem off Yugir and use Knock on the other door now,” one chimed in. It is possible to progress to Shadowfell without having to grab all the Umbral Gems. However, if you’re trying to farm Shadowheart’s approval in Act 2 or simply want to see more parts of the story, doing all the trials at least once can be worth it.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop making one evil choice after seeing its power – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop making one evil choice after seeing its power Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is filled with evil choices that many players refuse to make. However, one evil decision becomes tricky to ignore after seeing the pure power it can bring to your playthrough. Whether it’s romance, power, or just an evil run, many players are hesitant to ascend Astarion. After seeing the pain he was put through and the ramifications of your decision, it’s easy to see why some players attempt to go down the good route. However, more often than not, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans will decide to ascend the companion, purely based on other power, lust, or both. This was highlighted in a post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, in which one player explained that “this game made me realize I should never be in power.” They went on to add: “I know like power corrupts but I felt real bad about everything Cazador did and seeing those people in cages and thinking about being stuck in a room for 170 years actually made me sick but the moment I saw that astarion could heal up to 72 health on a bonus action and cast mist form as a bonus action I immediately felt no remorse, power corrupts and all that.” Ascending Astarion is a tricky decision to make, and he certainly changes for the worst shortly after. Sure, he’s more confident and powerful, but he quickly adopts the same morals as Cazador and becomes a bit of a villain to many. Another player shared a similar experience to the original poster: “I just finished my Astarion origin run and I just wanted to try what it would be like and then reload… but that extra 1d10 necrotic on each of my 4 to 5 attacks per turn and the bite were kinda worth killing 7000 fictional people for ngl so I never hit that reload button” Others attempted to justify their actions, explaining how “it seemed like the most efficient way to deal with 7000 vampire spawn.” Of course, the vampire spawn conundrum is tricky, but it seems the real reasoning is behind the pure power of Astarion after, particularly if you change his class. “AA as a monk is also insane. Two flurries and two hits do an extra 6D10 necrotic damage a round, in addition to whatever other damage shenanigans you gear him into. I 110% ascended him on my Honour Mode run. Felt bad about it, but hey, golden math rocks.” Naturally, others justified it for romantic reasons: “What’s worse – doing it because of skills and power gain, or doing it because romanced Ascended Astarion is hot? We all bear our burdens for Evil Choice sins” While another added: “Okay yes I did damn 7000 souls to eternal suffering but have you considered that now I have a pretty vampire call me his treasure every morning? Did you consider that?” One of the best things about Baldur’s Gate 3 is the evil runs you can do, which is why Larian made the Dark Urge. Whether it’s for love, power, or fun, Baldur’s Gate 3 players certainly love a questionable decision.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop breaking their Paladin Oaths – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t stop breaking their Paladin Oaths Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 offers players a lot of ways to play, with the Paladin class comfortably being one of the most difficult to maintain. So much so that many who play as one have found it immensely difficult to stick to their Oaths. In a post on Reddit, one player shared how they had broken their Oath merely by siding with Lae’zel and fighting the Tieflings during her recruitment section. Many others were quick to share their own stories of misfortune, with some breaking their Paladin Oaths less than an hour into the game. One said, “Yeah, the game really doesn’t care how evil the character you kill is; it’ll still break the Oath. Killing Kagha can break your Oath, and she’s working with Shadow Druids and is okay with killing kids over theft. “Trick is goading them into attacking you with dialog, or having another party member attack them, counts as ‘self-defense’ in that case, even if you egg them into fighting you.” Another added, “All the way until after killing Cazador on my Oath of Ancients when releasing the spawn into the Underdark broke it. Which was random to me and unexpected. Then I broke it again on accident when I was fighting some Bhaal cultists, and some flaming fist ran up and also aggroed to me, and I killed them.” A third shared the story of their friend’s first foray into playing the class, saying, “Introducing my buddy to BG3, and he picks a Paladin and wanted to kill the Tieflings that caught Lae’zel and was extremely distraught when he found out he broke his Oath. Had another buddy killing half the grove, failing to break his Oath somehow.” It’s worth noting that the way Baldur’s Gate 3 deals with Paladin Oaths is considerably more strict than tabletop D&D. Additionally, Vengeance is considerably less stringent and actively encourages the player in more nefarious directions, so that’s worth considering if you want to play the class for the first time.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t resist Astarion despite their best efforts – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t resist Astarion despite their best efforts Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are struggling to resist the charms of their favorite vampire rogue, leading to some unexpected in-game romances. In the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, players are faced with countless choices, from the paths they tread to the allies they keep. But one choice seems to be particularly challenging for many: resisting the charms of Astarion. A recent Reddit thread captures the essence of the struggle as one player confessed they felt “humiliated” after romancing Astarion despite their best efforts not to do so. “Spent 10 minutes explaining to my boyfriend why I wasn’t romancing Astarion this run,” the player explained. “Managed to reject him at the Tiefling party (white knuckling the controller), and this man has the audacity to come onto me again after the next long rest. I folded.” Unsurprisingly, the Baldur’s Gate 3 community is full of understanding when it comes to the Astarion phenomenon. One player shared advice, “The best way to avoid romancing Astarion is to play Astarion. Try it next time.” Another shared, “Don’t worry OP, my wife struggled her second playthrough. She constantly had to fight that pale urge.” Astarion, with his sarcastic quips and undeniable charisma, has not only stolen the hearts of players but has also led some to forget about their real-life partners. One player shared that their spouse had changed their phone background to Astarion and even dreamt about him. Other players are simply playing as the Dark Urge just to unlock special dialogues with Astarion. But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 romances. Not long after the game’s launch, Larian Studios revealed that Astarion had already rejected almost 100,000 players. Those who face rejection from the dashing rogue often turn their attention toward other companions like Shadowheart or Gale. But in the end, it seems that resisting Astarion is far from permanent, as one player put it, “I keep saying I’ll stop, and romance another character… And then Karlach was like ‘have fun with your pretty boy,’ so now I’m dual romancing with Astarion again.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over their love for this Companion’s sass – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over their love for this Companion’s sass Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a wide range of characters and all of them have massive personalities. However, there is one character who shows so much sass that players cannot get over them. Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most expansive games when it comes to character depth. Each and every companion has a deep personality that will make the players curious and thereby indulge in friendship as well as romantic relationships. In fact, building relations is one of the most vital aspects of the game. However, there is one character whom players love more than anyone on account of their overwhelming sass. The character in discussion is Jaheira, and players simply cannot stop loving this companion. Baldur’s Gate 3 players are in love with Jaheira’s sass The discussion surrounding this topic was initiated by a Reddit user LunchThreatener. The user mentioned, “We just killed the Bhaal cultists sent by the Jaheira doppelganger. She was talking about how tired she is of everything, cultists wearing her face and her friends being tricked and shit.” They continued, “She approved and her next two lines of dialogue were just laughter followed by b*****d.” They concluded, “Never taking her out of my party again lol.” This post garnered a lot of attention from other players. One such user commented, “The options to sass Jaheira are always worth it, she has the best sense of humor.” Another user chimed in, “Gods I love her, I love she will approve of basically all banter, especially about her age, she’s the fiery grandma of the group and I love it.” Another Reddit user mentioned, “Jaheira was by far the most pleasant surprise I had in my first run. I tend to stick with the same team rather than switch companions.” Finally, a player claimed, “I love Jaehira. There’s so much fun with her and Durge interacting with each other as they essentially get on each other nerves because they are technically enemies trying to get to know each other.” Therefore, it is safe to mention that players are in love with this companion. She has a really good personality, and her humor is right on point. Hence, a lot of players love to put her in their party since she ensures there is a balance between serious companions and easygoing ones.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over number of unique camp locations – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over number of unique camp locations Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game and it is quite fleshed out when it comes to variety. However, players were surprised when apart from all the detailing that the game has introduced, the developers did not forget to bring versatility to camp locations as well. Camps in Baldur’s Gate 3 are interesting places as you can rest in those locations while also interacting with your companions and progressing their quests. However, nobody ever pays attention to the camp locations in the game as such. It seems the developers ensured that even though players might not notice, they added variety to those locations. Every area in the game has a distinct camp and that is something that players are praising the developers for quite a lot. Baldur’s Gate 3 players are surprised by the versatility of camps The discussion regarding camp versatility was brought forth by a Reddit user by the name Gyrkam. This player made the post stating “you can count on me gasping equally as loud whenever I discover they made a distinct camp location for the specific area I’m in”. As it happens, this post received a favorable response from others as well. One such player commented, “I like the Act 2 camp where Gale is permanently wet”. One player also commented, “Some of the camps are weirdly big though like in Act 2 you can go up the hill and there’s an entire unoccupied shack”. Another player commented, “I wish we actually slept in the tents and not around the fire”. Lastly, a player commented, “It’s so cool and dynamic but the worst part is that your decorated camp will never end up the same”. Therefore, it seems like fans are quite happy about the camps versatility, though they are unhappy about some of the other aspects the positioning or the tents and the size of the camps.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over hysterically rude Cleric dialogue options – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over hysterically rude Cleric dialogue options Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have uncovered some surprisingly aggressive dialogue for the Cleric class, with some of the options bordering on downright abusive. You’d expect clerics to be some of the nicest people out of all the classes in Baldur’s Gate 3. They’re the go-to healer/support class, and even if you’re someone like Shadowheart, there’s still plenty of kindness and goodwill associated with your role. How mean can you be if you’re casting Healing Word at every opportunity? However, not all clerics are born equal. Depending on the deity you follow, the character and personality of your Tav can be wildly different, especially if you stray away from some of the nice gods. And one god in particular locks cleric players into one of the rudest dialogue options in the game: Talos, god of chaos, destruction and nature. Baldur’s Gate 3 players shocked by rude cleric dialogue One player posted the dialogue option, which becomes available if you find Arabella’s parents in Act 2, asking: “The only option’s being a d*ck just by choosing a Storm God?” In line with Talos’s uncaring nature, this cleric dialogue won’t pull any punches- and to make matters worse, there aren’t any other options to let Arabella know what happened. You have to pick the worst one to progress her story. The dialogue reads: “Oh, they’re very dead. But don’t worry- being an orphan makes you much more interesting.” It’s a line that wouldn’t be out of place coming from a Githyanki, but it’s very much in line with the character of Talos and his position as a god of chaos. Still, Arabella probably doesn’t deserve to be treated like that.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over cursed Lae’gale design: “Is that even legal” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get over cursed Lae’gale design: “Is that even legal” Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player has shared their creation where they’ve combined Lae’zel and Gale, and fans feel it’s one of the most cursed creations they’ve ever witnessed. Ever since Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, the community has been heavily involved in finding secrets in the game in addition to sharing their creations through artwork and cosplays. However, some of those creations often cross a line and this has happened with a combination between Lae’zel and Gale. A Baldur’s Gate 3 player posted their creation on Reddit and the comment “Is that even legal”, describes this situation the best. Some players were stunned by this creation and chimed in, “don’t know what’s more cursed, this or the Nicholas Cage edits.” A key point to note here is that both Lae’zel and Gale are two of the most popular characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. A poll conducted by a fan across Reddit, Baldur’s Gate 3 forum, and Discord suggested that 88% of the player base would recruit Gale while 81% would recruit Lae’zel. Finally, Gale was 3rd in the popularity list and Lae’zel was 5th among 11 companions. Hence, anything involving Lae’zel and especially Gale will always receive attention from the fans. However, this particular creation received a love-hate response from the players. They hate how disturbing it looks yet they felt the creator deserved an upvote. Finally, a few fans were confused about whether they should name this duo Lae’gale or Gae’zel, and they finally decided on the former.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get enough of these unintentionally hilarious moments – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t get enough of these unintentionally hilarious moments u/calculovetor Larian StudiosWhile there are plenty of funny scenes in its script, these coincidental Baldur’s Gate 3 moments really had players cracking up. The story of Baldur’s Gate 3 captures a wide spectrum of emotion. From the thrill of combat, to the heartbreak of loss, to the sweetness of budding romance — you’re pretty much guaranteed to feel all the feels. However, things aren’t always so high-stakes. It’s common for companions to come out with goofy and lighthearted quips in their downtime. Not to mention, there are plenty of bizarre NPC encounters to come across during your journey in Faerûn. While the folks at Larian certainly have a sense of humor, sometimes Baldur’s Gate 3 tickles players’ funny bones without ever meaning to. Whether through a bug or a just perfectly-timed cutscene, some of the game’s moments are unintentionally hilarious. Players crack up at accidentally hilarious BG3 moments On r/BaldursGate3, a player shared an example of an inadvertently funny scene that triggered while they tried to defend Isobel at the Last Light Inn in Act 2. While Isobel thankfully sidestepped death, the massive amounts of damage she sustained left her “severely raccoon-eyed”. The beating left Isobel with such distracting marks that the player struggled to take anything she said seriously. A part of Shadowheart’s dialogue that triggers in the Shadow-Cursed Lands similarly amused one of the commenters: “‘I’m not affected by the curse! Shar must love me!’ Babe, you have the Blood of Lathander equipped.” While devs might not have thought to disable this line, her resulting obliviousness to the effects of the weapon does just come across as some in-character religious fervor. Another player found that polymorphing Cazador into a sheep before his big fight added some excellent irony to his delivery of “I will not speak to cattle, boy!” They said that when said by “Baazador”, this cruel piece of dialogue is transformed into “the best line out there”. One rib-tickling scenario that many players have come across is having a romance scene trigger while their character is wearing the clown makeup they applied at the Carnival in Act 3. As their gaudy get-up stayed on even after their long rest, players had to witness scenes of juggalo-tinged intimacy. Definitely a mood killer. Or not? I’m not judging.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t figure out why Orin helps their dating life – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t figure out why Orin helps their dating life Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are trying to figure out what Orin’s plan was, and some parts of it just aren’t making sense. It must have been hard being Orin throughout Baldur’s Gate 3. You’ve teamed up with some undead general obsessed with his daughter and a weird noble playing with tin soldiers, both of whom won’t let you kill whoever you want. They hate to see a girl-boss win. Still, that doesn’t explain why Orin goes to so many lengths to help players with their romantic life. In Act 3, it’s possible for the circus druid to be replaced by Orin as part of her 4D chess murder plots. But even if the druid does get replaced with Orin, they still go through with the love test that the player can take part in with their romance partner. Baldur’s Gate 3 players don’t get Orin’s plan One player couldn’t make any sense of why Orin would help a Tav’s love life, asking: “Why does Orin spend all that time and magic to help us?” “If you don’t go through 2 Orin doppelgangers before going to the circus, the love druid will be replaced by Orin. And I get why, as a story for the player, her love test would still go through but it doesn’t make sense why Orin would do it. “That’s a lot of time and energy to be like “muhahaha surprise! It’s me!” It’s not even like she directly threatens or tries to attack the companion.” Other players theorized that like the rest of the terminally down-bad Baldur’s Gate 3 community, Orin just likes watching the party members romance each other. “Orin’s two passions: Murder, and shipping Tav with their companions and squeeing when they have cute dialogue,” another player proposed.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t bring themselves to make these choices – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t bring themselves to make these choices larian studiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is a game filled with choices and branching narratives that make each playthrough different. Still, there are some red lines that players refused to cross, no matter how many times they were presented with them. In a post on Reddit, one player asked the community which paths they wouldn’t pursue when working through Baldur’s Gate 3. As it turns out, there are plenty of options that players considered to be a step too far. Some responses were purely rooted in their objectively negative effects, whether that be losing gold and useful allies or generally making life more difficult moving forward. Others were a little more personal, where players’ feelings dictated the path they took through the game. About the potential avenue of giving beloved dog Scratch to the dog pound, one user said, “I have killed all the druids and Tieflings (even the women and the children), and I have condemned everyone at Last Light to the curse.” “I have sacrificed Wyll for power, forced Astarion to bite that weirdo, and forced the family to leave the home. However, when that monster asked to take Scratch back, I was quick saving and killing her with every weapon and magic type.” Another added, “I agree with a lot here, so I just add another one. I’m not gonna fight the Lava Elemental. He’s just stomping about, in the lava, where he belongs. It’s like going out into the ocean to hunt down a shark, it wasn’t fucking with anyone.” A third added a choice that they felt too nefarious to be viable, “Allowing Shadowheart to go Sharran path. Like, holy s**t, mind wiping a child and forcing her to torture her parents for decades is a level of evil that’s difficult to stomach even on an “evil” play through. Even if one slaughters everyone, they die quick, clean, and relatively fast.” There are thousands of choices to make in Baldur’s Gate 3, many of which have unintended consequences. Even with all of that potential for evil, it’s nice to know that many are maintaining a path of moral righteousness in their playthroughs.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players “can’t bear” to send this companion into battle – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players “can’t bear” to send this companion into battle Baldur’s Gate 3In Baldur’s Gate 3, one companion has players caught up in their feelings. Even with the game’s detailed resurrection options, many just can’t stomach the idea of putting this character in danger. In most playthroughs, you really don’t want any of your Baldur’s Gate 3 companions to die. But the battles can be harsh. Characters get stabbed, blown up, or even disappear into the abyss because of a “hilarious” bug. There are ways to bring them back to life. Each character starts with a Scroll of Revivify, which lets you bring them back from the dead. For more experienced players, there’s the Revivify spell. Plus, in the camp, Withers can revive fallen companions for 200 gold, no matter where they died. Despite these safeguards, some players can’t bring themselves to send Scratch, the canine companion, into battle in BG3. A Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit thread revealed that many players don’t want to risk losing this four-legged companion, even temporarily. One user shared, “I sometimes see people send Scratch into battle, but I just can’t bear myself to do it and maybe lose him in the bloody war.” Some players reassured others, saying that Scratch would return to camp if he perished in battle. Yet, others admitted they couldn’t bear the thought of him taking damage. “I did once. The first time he got hit, I reloaded my save. No one touches my dog,” confessed one Baldur’s Gate 3 player. Interestingly, another asked, “You can use Scratch in combat?” They have been keeping this dog companion safe without even knowing it. For the most part, the community prefers to keep Scratch safe, only taking him out for his “walkies.” Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to surprise and engage its player base, even a year after its release. Whether it’s keeping Scratch out of harm’s way or discovering he can play fetch with something much more disturbing than a ball, the game and its players continue to explore unexpected paths.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players cannot believe how few players conquered Honor Mode – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players cannot believe how few players conquered Honor Mode Larian StudiosLarian Studios shared a variety of Baldur’s Gate 3 statistics, which left fans stunned at the number of players who managed to beat Honor Mode. New statistics were shared in celebration of Baldur’s Gate 3’s first anniversary, revealing a surprisingly popular romance option, as well as a super rare Lae’zel ending. Players are still discussing these wild numbers, as one fan in a Reddit post calculated the percentage of players who beat Honor Mode, Baldur’s Gate 3’s toughest difficulty. After crunching the numbers, the fan revealed that only 11% of players who attempted Honor Mode made it out alive. As such, 89% of players were defeated in this difficulty mode. Out of 1,223,305 players who ended Honor Mode in defeat, 76% died honorably and deleted their save file, while the other 24% switched to Custom Mode after their deaths. The Reddit poster acknowledged just how wild this number was by comparing it to their pass rate for earning the expert field medical badge back when they were in the army. Apparently, it held an 18% pass rate, which was still higher than players who passed Honor Mode. This made earning their Golden Dice, a dice skin awarded only to Honor Mode completionists, “arguably the more difficult achievement.” The replies fostered discussions about unique Honor Mode wins and fails. One person lost their Honor Mode run in a Grymforge elevator, while another failed versus a repulsion trap, which can push players off of ledges if they’re not careful. In addition to the failures, many replies celebrated their wins. There was even one fan who found Honor Mode liberating compared to the other modes and said, “in previous playthroughs I was crippled with savescumming every failed interaction.” Despite the wildly low number of players who have conquered Honor Mode, these discussions prove players have varying opinions on its difficulty. Yet, it doesn’t take away from the fact that only 141,660 players own the elusive Golden Dice.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players can return to the iconic city in D&D 2025 sourcebooks – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can return to the iconic city in D&D 2025 sourcebooks Larian Studios/Wizards of the CoastIt will soon be time to gather your party and venture forth to the Forgotten Realms, as the D&D campaign setting from Baldur’s Gate 3 is the focus of two new rulebooks that are launching in 2025. The Forgotten Realms have long been the most popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting. Long before Tav got a tadpole in the eye socket, characters like Elminster and Drizzt Do’Urden were going on adventures throughout Faerun and beyond, captivating fans around the globe. While the default D&D campaign setting in the upcoming updated Dungeon Master’s Guide will be Greyhawk, the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 will be the focus of two upcoming books. Wizards of the Coast revealed these new titles during the August 2024 D&D Direct. These books are tentatively titled The Forgotten Realms Player Guide and The Forgotten Realms Adventure Guide. Both are scheduled to launch in late 2025, marking the first time the setting will get a dedicated book in D&D 5e. The Forgotten Realms Player Guide is set to feature new subclasses, feats, backgrounds, spells, types of spells, and a chapter detailing factions, such as the Red Wizards of Thay, who appeared as villains in the D&D movie. The Forgotten Realms Adventure Guide is aimed towards Dungeon Masters and will detail aspects of the setting. This includes the city of Baldur’s Gate, as well as familiar locations from other D&D video games like Icewind Dale. The idea is that different locations can suit different playstyles and campaign vibes. One question that fans will naturally be asking is, “Will the events of Baldur’s Gate 3 be referenced in the new books?” It might seem like a given but don’t forget that the game had lots of endings, some of which would drastically alter the setting as a whole. Then again, the writers of D&D had to pick an ending for Baldur’s Gate 2 so they could add it to the lore, so we might see the same thing happen here. Either that, or the events will be referenced, but their conclusion will be left unmentioned. However, it is unlikely that the Dark Urge has taken over the world just yet.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call out “immersion-breaking” companion dialogue – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call out “immersion-breaking” companion dialogue Larian StudiosThese poorly timed lines from Baldur’s Gate 3 companion dialogue are leaving players feeling a tad confused. Even outside of cutscenes, your companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 come out with a whole host of story-building dialogue. Whether it’s a battle cry during the heat of combat or some light-hearted travel banter, the lines they come out with can reveal a whole lot about their motivations and backgrounds. However, with such a complex branching narrative, some parts of Baldur’s Gate 3’s 2 million-word script can lose its relevancy. When delivered out of place, these sections can lose their effectiveness or even be actively detrimental to the player’s experience. Baldur’s Gate 3 players complain about out-of-character lines A Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared their disappointment at an out-of-character line of dialogue that continually appeared in their playthrough. Explaining their situation to fellow players on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, they said that they wished Lae’zel would stop saying “Vlaakith’s will be done” during combat once she decides to turn against her Queen. Turns out, Lae’zel isn’t the only companion with complicated feelings around a figure they previously revered. Even late in the game, players noticed Shadowheart praising Shar, complaining about her curse, or fidgeting with the Artefact at camp. As a commenter pointed out, the latter is especially strange given the Artefact is no longer in her inventory. Similarly, Minthara’s internal struggle is epitomized in her yelling “In the name of the Absolute” as she slays hoards of Absolutists. While Gale struggles with feeling spurned by Mystra even before the events of the game, his choice to distance himself from his Goddess in Act 3 doesn’t stop him from delivering phrases of worship. While these leftover hypocritical lines are most likely just due to an oversight, players have lightheartedly pointed out that “even reformed atheists yell ‘god damn’ out of habit.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call Minthara’s dialogue changes a “slap in the face” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call Minthara’s dialogue changes a “slap in the face” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have slammed the new Minthara dialogue changes, with many calling the new romance details a “slap in the face.” Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of the biggest video games of 2023. The RPG won over fans immediately on release, critics too praising the game for its in-depth exploration, character development and freedom in creativity and design. The game managed to take the top prize at the 2023 Game Awards and has continued to be a must-play even in 2024. However, a recent update to the game has left fans frustrated at the way in which one companion has been slightly reworked thanks to some new dialogue changes. The companion in question being Minthara, the tough around the edges warrior who takes a long time to warm up to the player. The romance between Minthara and the player is a topic of major discussion throughout the Baldur’s Gate 3 community. In large part due to the recent changes made to the dialogue surrounding the possible romance between Minthara and the player. Previously, it was possible to get the best ending in the game and still try to explore a romance with Minthara despite her reluctance. However, the new dialogue changes have made it so that Minthara can reject the player outright, impacting the ending of the game as a result. In a new Reddit thread, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have called the new dialogue changes to Minthara’s romance a “slap in the face.” The new thread filled with comments from players equally frustrated by the changes. One user wrote, “I’d rather her not getting any new dialogue if this is what we’re getting. I’m hoping this is a bug as some suspect.” Another Baldur’s Gate player explained that as well as being out of character for Minthara these dialogue changes can also impact the whole experience for players. “The problem for me isn’t the reaction itself, out of character or not. It’s that railroad you. No other combination of player character and romance partner locks you out of the best ending if you want to stay with them. Redemption Durge X Minthara has been a thing since release, even had unique content in the epilogue, so to prevent that is a terrible change even if it fits her character (which I think it doesn’t). At the very least if they wish to keep this dialogue there should be a way to convince her to stay with you, since she’s a rational person that listens to reason.” This isn’t the first time Baldur’s Gate 3 players have complained about the new dialogue changes to Minthara. Given this, we’ll be sure to keep you updated if the devs respond to this criticism from players.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for simple quality-of-life changes in future updates – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for simple quality-of-life changes in future updates Larian StudiosWhile many may consider Baldur’s Gate 3 to be practically perfect, there’s always room for a few quality-of-life changes – and these players have some stellar ideas. It’s no secret that the highly acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 is an overwhelming success among its community. Many are constantly praising the game for its lovable companions, emotional story, and variety of available choices you can make as you explore the expansive world. However, story and characters aside, there are still a few elements that need some work in Baldur’s Gate 3, and players have come together to call for some simple yet impactful quality-of-life changes that need to be added in the next update. Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for key quality-of-life changes Sharing their idea on Reddit, one user asked players to reveal “the most inconsequential change you would make” to Baldur’s Gate 3. The poster revealed how they’d love to make it “so locking picking automatically opened the chest you just picked” rather than having to pick the lock, back out of the screen, then click on the chest again to see what’s inside – which can mean some greedy teammates get in there before you do. While many agreed with the poster, a few ideas struck out on top, with many fans echoing their statements. One in particular was regarding “a way to rearrange party members without having to go through dialogue every time.” Such an issue has been constantly brought up since the game came out of early access, and many fans wish they could enact this change. “A prompt when you are about to cast a spell that uses concentration when you are already concentrating” added one user, revealing how frustrating it can be to accidentally cast another concentration spell and lose the original without realizing it. This also applies to beginner players and those unfamiliar with Dungeons & Dragons spellcasting. Other players who took a shine to Scratch called for more features with him as a companion: “I just want to be able to sleep with Scratch and/or the baby owlbear snuggled next to me.” Another highlighted how they wanted “A tent for Tav and some more cinematics that show camp life before going to bed. (Having a meal together, Lae’zel and Shadowheart sparring, Karlach playing with Scratch and/or Owlbear cub.)” Ultimately, while fans adore the game, there are always a few QoL alterations Larian can make to further improve Baldur’s Gate 3, especially when it comes to Scratch.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for must-have feature from previous games to be added – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for must-have feature from previous games to be added Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community has been comparing the game to previous entries in the series, and while it comes out on top in most aspects, there are a couple of features that players want to see added to the latest release. Larian Studios has always been very responsive when it comes to adding highly-requested features to the game. When players called for a way to change their Tav’s appearance on the fly, the magic mirror was added to the camp in the very next patch, and when people felt like they wanted an extra challenge, they unveiled Honour Mode. But Baldur’s Gate has always remained close to its tabletop origin, and because of that there’s always a lot of investment in the stats and figures working behind the scenes as well as the flashier mechanics. One feature that made it into previous Baldur’s Gate games, but isn’t available in the latest release, allowed you to track which party member has killed the most enemies, and players are wondering if it could make its way into Baldur’s Gate 3. Players want to see a breakdown of which party member killed the most Let’s face it. At some point you’ve wondered just how useful Shadowheart really is. Well, with this feature, you’d be able see just how many people she didn’t kill throughout your playthrough. One player posted a screenshot from the previous games, saying: “In Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 I loved this useful set of stats. Baldur’s Gate 3 needs this.” Other trackers included total experience value, favorite spells, and the time spent with the party. Several comments agreed, with one reading: “That would be a really cool feature even though I think I know the breakdown. Astarion and Karlach lead for Experience, because they take down the BBGs. Karlach and my Tav for number of kills because I have AOE, and she can get like 5 actions per turn by level 10.” Realistically, either Lae’zel or Karlach will be topping those particular charts.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for major inventory change to fix frustrating management – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for major inventory change to fix frustrating management Baldur’s Gate 3 players are calling for huge changes to the inventory management system due to how difficult it is to move items between different party members. In Baldur’s Gate 3, each character has their own inventory, with a shared stash available in the camp. This means there’s a lot of tedious messing around when players need to switch equipment and items between party members, as players need to manually add characters to the party to access their gear. A shared inventory between all of the characters would make sense, but Baldur’s Gate 3 has a prominent multiplayer component that lets players jump in at any time. This means that equipment needs to be separate between each character. Baldur’s Gate 3 has tweaked the inventory system via patches, but it’s not enough, as fans are still requesting more changes that streamline the process of moving gear between the party outside of combat. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want better party management Baldur’s Gate 3 has been available for a while now, and users on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit page are still calling for changes to be made to the inventory system. This is due to how annoying it is to move items around, especially with how poorly the search function works. “Yes. Inventory management is my only complaint on the game,” one user complained. “The ability to rename my backpacks and pouches to track what I store in them would be nice too. I think there may be a mod for that though.” One user suggested that “I want them to extend the “trade” screen to work with in-camp companions, with prices set to 0. It seems like it would be easy enough to implement,” which seems like an easy compromise to fix the issues. The Baldur’s Gate 3 players on PC can use mods to fix their issues, as some of them let you access your allies’ inventories at any time, while others give the protagonist infinite endurance load, letting them carry all the gear themselves. However, these fixes cannot be used on PS5, limiting their use. Needing to manually add party members before you can rifle through their things is an unnecessary chore in a game that already takes a lot of time to play. Hopefully, Larian Studios will introduce better inventory management options in a future update alongside Baldurs’ Gate 3’s Photo Mode.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for major change to Honour Mode – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for major change to Honour Mode Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s Honour Mode offers unique ways for enemies to tear you to shreds, but players want to face those punishing tactics in their regular runs. Those who want their Baldur’s Gate 3 runs to have the true D&D experience can select Honour Mode, which acts as an Ironman run where you only have one save, and if you die, that save is wiped. Not only that, but Honour Mode gives some enemies Legendary Actions, which come directly from D&D. Legendary Actions are exclusively used by monsters, and they can be used at the end of each of your character’s turns, seriously upending the action economy in their favor. Players on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit are calling for the extra difficulty in Honour Mode to be an option in other runs without having to play with a single save file. “Totally agree, Honour mode difficulty with multiple saves would be amazing,” one user wrote, while another said, “Another vote for this, I only play honor mode at this point but find the single save really quite annoying.” “Yeah I like the difficulty but I also like save scumming to check out different dialogue paths or unique strats,” one player lamented. “I got my dice, now let me see what happens when I pick the Selunite options.” “This is the single biggest change I want to see in a future update,” one fan suggested, “Tactician is just too boring without the stricter rules and legendary actions, but single save files force you to replay Honour mode from scratch if you want to re-experience the amazing fights they offer.” It’s surprising that Legendary Actions for bosses are restricted to Honour Mode, considering they’re a default part of D&D rules. It’s a shame they can’t be used in Baldur’s Gate 3 without sticking the player in a single save file run, as they add much-needed difficulty in boss fights, where the party can face a single foe and restrict their actions with status effects.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for key romance changes to stop awkward rejections – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for key romance changes to stop awkward rejections Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are calling for new dialogue options to help them eliminate any awkward companion rejections. Romance is a key aspect of Baldur’s Gate 3, with tons of fans looking to fall in love with the various companions that surround the game’s expansive storyline. In fact, it’s such a pivotal aspect, that many often joke that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a dating simulator more than an open-world RPG. Nevertheless, while some are interested in romancing multiple companions, others feel a little more exclusive, and are now calling for some major dialogue changes to help avoid any awkwardness once they’ve found ‘the one’. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want new taken dialogue options Sharing their idea on Reddit, one user asked the community: “Why [is there] no option to tell characters you’re already taken?” Usually, when players romance one companion, the others will continue to flirt and advance on the Tav, which can make rejecting them pretty awkward, as well as a little hurtful. “One thing I was dumbfounded by was why the game doesn’t just let you tell propositioners that you’re already dating someone else,” wrote the player, going on to joke: “Like Wyll, my mate, I respect you for shooting your shot but I’m already with Shadowheart, sorry!” Naturally, those rejections can feel a little uncomfortable, with many players calling for this change to be implemented in an upcoming update. “Even just a generic, “no thanks, I have my heart set on another” where they don’t get the saddest face on Faerun over it” commented one user, revealing just how hard it can be to make these well-written companions sad. Thankfully, there are a few companions that you can tell, with Minthara and Halsing being an example: “Halsin is one of the few you *can* tell you are already in a relationship, and can then further specify that you are not interested in jeopardizing said relationship.” However, this doesn’t apply to all companions and will not save you from the wrath of Wyll’s puppy dog eyes. There’s no word on whether this will eventually be added but with the promised additions in Patch 6, it’s certainly not impossible.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for key feature that is still missing – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players call for key feature that is still missing Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 arguably has all an RPG could want. It’s got a touching story, beloved characters, and tons of versatility – however, not all players feel it’s got everything they need. With many calling for a brand-new key feature. With Baldur’s Gate 3 being a Dungeons and Dragons game, there is one thing that it holds above many other RPGs. The ability to truly engross the player into each Companion story, main quest, and side adventure, all while keeping combat both thrilling and tactical. However, one element of D&D that many adore isn’t reflected in Baldur’s Gate 3 – the awesome death scenes after taking down a tricky boss. Now, thousands of players are calling for its implementation. Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian Studios for key death feature Posting on Reddit, one user shared what they thought the game was missing, highlighting that it was “Dramatic death scenes.” They went on to explain how: “After slaughtering a main boss or enemy I’ve grown to hate over the course of 100+ hours, why can’t we get a cute little scene where they gasp for breath as they drown in their own blood, meekly uttering some curse at you, and giving you one last dialogue option to send them to hell? Instead, they kinda just flop or explode, which can be fun too, but still. I’d like some satisfaction!” The post quickly gained tons of traction, with over 11,000 upvotes and 1,000 comments at the time of writing. Most players supported the idea, wishing it could be added to the game in future patches. Plenty of Baldur’s Gate 3 fans shared their comparisons with their own D&D games, highlighting how “In my tabletop games vividly describing death blows is one of my favorite things, it is kind of a shame that BG3 doesn’t really make finishing boss fights exciting.” They went on to explain that “Even if it was a Skyrim style bullet-time thing showing a closeup of whatever attack connecting would be cool. Wouldn’t want it for every enemy but the main bad guy of each encounter would be nice.” It’s worth noting, that some of the major bosses in the game do have death cutscenes, but others seem to be lacking, prompting thousands to call for this new feature to be added. Who knows, it could eventually be added in an upcoming patch, Larian has just added a highly demanded feature in their third patch after all.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player’s broken Honor Mode save file restored by Larian – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player’s broken Honor Mode save file restored by Larian Baldur’s Gate 3After experiencing a game-breaking issue in their Honor Mode run in Baldur’s Gate 3, one player was greeted with good news from the team after sending their save file. To have your Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run glitch out or bug to the point it’s no longer possible to continue feels like straight-up horror — especially after everything you’ve gone in-game. However, it’s something that can happen, as one player shared in a Reddit thread. The player claimed it all started with a “game-breaking bug” that happened a few weeks ago. This bug caused their character to disappear entirely from the game, including their inventory and character portrait. To make things worse, the rest of the party was stranded in a location where it was impossible to safe travel, and the only way to progress was to have your main character trigger a dialogue with an NPC. “At this time, I had lost pretty much all hope. I wrote my first post here, but got no replies. However, I also sent in a manual bug report to Larian, where I didn’t really expect a reply either,” they wrote. But when all hope seemed lost, they finally got a reply from Larian from a person named Victor, who told them exactly what to do; “I sent him my save file, which he then forwarded to the developer team.” After waiting a few days, the team wrote back with good news. They had created “sort of a custom save file in Honor Mode” for the player, essentially restoring their entire character and progress. Thanks to that, the player managed to beat Honor Mode within the same day and got their golden dice. “So yeah, thank you to Victor, who replied to my report – and to the developer team who got me the new save file. I only expected something like ‘thank you for your report’ and perhaps a fix for a future run in another patch, but they really came through. Great game. Great support.” Other players who jumped into the comments were quick to praise Larian for all their effort. One user wrote, “They want you to enjoy playing the game. That’s f****in’ passion right there. Common Larian W.” Additionally, the topic was brought to social media via a post on X by Swen Vincke himself, writing; “Going to sing the praises of our support team and the devs behind them a bit.” He added, “They really are something special. They do this kind of thing spontaneously, without being told, demonstrating they are made of the right stuff and that they truly care. Happy to see it.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players bewildered by companion’s massive appetite – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players bewildered by companion’s massive appetite Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are struggling to suspend their disbelief about how much blood Astarion can supposedly consume. There are some very specific urges that come with being a vampire. So, Astarion spends a portion of your Baldur’s Gate 3 journey managing those needs. Your undead companion even gains a buff after feeding, encouraging you to allow him some sweet sanguine indulgence every now and then. While Astarion can feast on enemies or even his own party members, he defaults to hunting wild animals to satiate his hunger. Although he’s not particularly strong (with a very modest STR stat of 8), it’s not difficult to imagine him wrestling a bear when the need strikes him. Though as players have pointed out on Reddit, it takes much more of a leap to believe he’d not only take down a bear but also entirely drain it of its blood. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Astarion stuns fans with his mighty thirst The thread was prompted by a portion of dialogue in Baldur’s Gate 3 where Astarion appears intoxicated after drinking “all” of the blood from a bear. Despite his supernatural status, the scene has left some players legitimately confused as to how he could guzzle down that much blood. A selection of fans suggested that there could be some embellishment at play from the Rogue; perhaps he’s bigging up his hunting achievements to woo Tav. “Sounds like he’s trying to impress you. Reminds me of the fishermen who swear the fish they caught was thiiis big”, one Redditor commented. Some theorized that he doesn’t actually imbibe all of his meal in one go but instead collects it from the victim, before bringing it back to camp to enjoy later. This inspired some amusing ideas of how Astarion would manage his doggy bags of animal blood: “I’m now picturing him coming back to camp with cheeks full of blood like a hamster storing nuts”. But perhaps Astarion really is ravenous enough to go through an entire adult-sized bear like a juice box. Watch out, Halsin.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players believe Dark Urge is the game’s real protagonist – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players believe Dark Urge is the game’s real protagonist Larian StudiosPlayers contend that Baldur’s Gate 3’s Dark Urge is the game’s most involved protagonist. Alongside the Origin companions you can play as in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can also choose between two kinds of customizable characters. The first is a total blank slate or ‘Tav’, which is the most common choice for most players’ first playthrough. The second is a more recent addition, The Dark Urge. ‘Durge’ is a Bhaalspawn who can be of any race or class but is deeply troubled by their Haunted One background. While this character is a natural choice for players doing an evil run, choosing this origin also provides a significant number of unique story beats and dialogue options. As a result, one Redditor on r/BaldursGate3 insists that Durge serves as a best fit for the game’s main character. Players argue that Baldur’s Gate 3’s Durge has main character energy Other factors like race, background, and class also present players with noteworthy additions to dialogue. However, some fans still argue that custom Tavs are “undercooked” and provide limited meaningful roleplaying opportunities. Meanwhile, fans feel as though the tension that comes with your Durge hero trying to resist their violent desires provides a far more intriguing narrative than any other origin. Due to Durge’s more established background, fans say their lore is also more tightly integrated into the rest of the world: “You have a direct relationship with the main bosses and [the Durge / Orin duel] is so much more climactic than the regular showdown.” Of course, for players whose background preferences lean a tad closer to Folk Hero, the Dark Urge is not a great fit: “some people don’t like having a canon backstory of necrophilia, cannibalism, and wanton murder and would much rather have a character with a backstory they made themselves.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to stop “softening characters for fan service” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to stop “softening characters for fan service” Larian StudiosWhile Baldur’s Gate 3 is often hailed for its story and romantic plotlines, the community thinks Larian shouldn’t change their writing for the sake of pleasing players moving forward. Baldur’s Gate 3 was in early access for about three years before fully launching in 2023. During that period, Larian made many changes based on player feedback, whether related to dialogue, graphics, combat, or many other aspects. A year after the game was fully released, Larian is still dedicating time to fixing various issues and listening to the community. While this has led many players to sing their praises, a portion of the community has wished that they wouldn’t change some of the writing in the game to appease players. In a Reddit thread, one user claimed that companions staying with a Mind Flayer Tav, excluding spawn Astarion, “doesn’t make sense.” “Sorry, but it just feels very ‘fanservicy’ to me,” the player claimed. They pointed out how at least Lae’zel, given the circumstances as a Githyanki, shouldn’t be “so easily persuaded” to love a Mind Flayer Tav. To them, this ended up feeling like “something Larian made them do because they wanted this ‘Will you still love me if I become a worm?’ fairy-tale endings.” Many other players who jumped in the comments also agreed with this take. “Lae’zel used to refuse to stay with you if you turned Illithid which I think was more in character and hit harder. Was disappointed to see they changed it in a patch and tend to agree that the change was for fan service reasons,” commented one user. Another user mentioned how Shadowheart’s Act 1 romance in early access “was so good.” They added, “I really wanted to see where it went after such a slow build, but now she feels more like a Skyrim NPC romance.” Meanwhile, one user wrote: “I’m so sick of them softening characters for fan service reasons instead of sticking to their guns, honestly.” This includes tweaking Shadowheart and Lae’zel “to be less mean in the beginning,” the latter making her “abandon all her principles.” “Now in the beta they’ve changed ascended! Astarion’s kiss animation so the player looks happy instead of scared… All of these really weaken the writing and make the characters and story less consistent,” they added. Some players wish that there would be an option to make the new expressions optional.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to give Karlach a less tragic ending – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to give Karlach a less tragic ending Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players took to Reddit to express their shared sadness for the way that Karlach’s story ends in the game. Karlach is one of the many playable characters in BG3 and one of the seven companions that can be recruited to the player’s party during the first act. The Tiefling Barbarian is loved by players for her gentle and awkward nature which added to the bitterness associated with her ending. Spoilers ahead. A short time after recruiting Karlach, the player learns she is powered by a mechanical heart slowly losing its power. One of the quests that comes with her companionship is to visit a doctor who can supposedly fix her. Despite the game giving the player hope that there is a chance to save Karlach, the hope is quickly diminished as the game enters its third and final act. Regardless of whether the player completed the Dammon quest or not, Karlach’s fate remains the same. Karlach’s ending “broke” Baldur’s Gate 3 fans Reddit user Jellobaby started the conversation by sharing their own heart-wrenching experience with playing through Karlach’s ending. The post titled ‘Karlach broke me’ had over 2,000 upvotes and close to 300 comments from users sharing their own experiences. “This woman,” said Jellobaby. “She asked me, through happy tears, if I could be by her side while she died. She said that as long as I was there, she could do anything. I cried. Hard. I rarely cry at sappy scenes. I cried for at least 30 minutes. Snot and everything.” The ending scene with Karlach has convinced multiple players to leave whoever they were romancing at the time to be with Karlach which shows just how moving her ending really is. It says a lot that players want the option to run off into the sunset with Karlach rather than into the inferno. While there is an option to keep her alive, it involves headed right to Avernus and braving the hells along with her and Wyll. However, it’s just not the happily ever after Karlach would have wanted. Despite the tragic ending that Karlach is faced with, Reddit users agreed that Larian Studios did a great job of making them care about these characters. Although, the top comment on the post remains with one user stating ‘JUSTICE FOR KARLACH’.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to fix companion romance that’s “almost nonexistent” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg Larian to fix companion romance that’s “almost nonexistent” Larian StudiosSome Baldur’s Gate 3 players are finding the experience of romancing one particular companion to be “almost nonexistent” due to the lack of unique scenes and accompanying dialogue. When you’re not busy fighting the Spider matriarch, saving prisoners from an underwater prison, or taking down the big bad – Baldur’s Gate 3’s romance content mostly does the job of keeping your Tav occupied in their camp. While they help spice things up during your playthrough, it’s no secret that not all companions’ romances are getting equal treatment in the eyes of the community. Some players couldn’t help but point out that Minthara’s romance should be ‘fixed’, as mentioned in a Reddit thread. The thing with Minthara is that while you can still romance her as a good character, one specific romance scene can only be triggered if you’re doing an evil playthrough. With her overall romance scenes not being quite as numerous many as other companions, the entire experience has left some players underwhelmed. One player argued that “she, in general, makes sense only in an evil run.” They added, “I understand Larian’s wish to please fans, but I tried to recruit her in ‘normal’ run and barely had any approval from her and no interesting content because of that. I don’t get the hype with Minthara in good runs.” Another Reddit user claimed that “there was just not a lot of additional content with her”, and she was also “bugged half the time.” According to the user, even after a major story event, she would repeat the same line about the “Emperor being a useful ally.” “It’s almost non-existent. You can only get an actual scene together with her if you slay the grove; there’s no Act 2 or 3 content to speak of. In Act 3, the romance consists of a single conversation where you decide to date, and that’s it,” agreed another user before comparing her with Lae’Zel, who has multiple romance scenes or unique conversations throughout Act 1 until Act 3. “Real, she’s literally my second favorite, but I don’t like being evil. If you aren’t evil, you literally don’t get a single romance scene. Even if you do the evil route, you get a single scene in Act One, and that’s it,” another player chimed in. So far, we know Patch 7 will be bringing several improvements, so there might be a chance something new gets added along the way for the character – especially since the next patch is going to be big for evil players.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg for improvements to jumping mechanics – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players beg for improvements to jumping mechanics Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have one big criticism for the game’s jumping mechanics when it comes to companions. Baldur’s Gate 3 has taken the roleplaying community by storm with its rich storyline and ability to make decisions on every aspect of the game. These features are accompanied by the ability to recruit several different companions to join the player’s Tav on their journey to Baldur’s Gate. Each member of the party can be controlled at any time which offers unique interactions and approaches to critical situations. However, with the ability to control all three companions comes the difficulty of traveling across certain terrains. To access part of the map players are sometimes required to jump cliffs and ledges to reach their destinations. However, this action is not always easy to complete as the player often has to make the jump for each one of their companions. This led players to urge Larian Studios on Reddit to make changes to the jumping mechanics. Jumping mechanics are players’ biggest criticisms in Baldur’s Gate 3 A Redditor posted to the official BG3 subreddit that asked players to name their biggest criticism of the game. While many complaints were voiced there was one theme that remained constant – jumping sucks. The top comment with over 6,000 upvotes was posted by Merinwe who stated that they wished companions would follow them when their Tav jumped to different locations. “Astral Plane is the worst,” said one Redditor. “Several times, I had companions get stuck, and then I’d select them to get them to jump manually, only to realize I forgot to ungroup my other characters so they had all jumped back.” According to other comments beneath the thread it seems like the two locations in BG3 that cause the most issues are Astral Plane and Nightsong. Although these complaints have fallen on deaf ears so far Larian Studios has not yet made any announcements to adjust the issues regarding jumping.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players beat key villain by annoying him into submission – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players beat key villain by annoying him into submission Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player has found the best way to get rid of a key villain without the need to fight, trick, or even talk to them – all you need to do is be extremely annoying. One of the best elements of Baldur’s Gate 3 is the freedom of choice granted to players. Just like Dungeons & Dragons, Larian Studios has given its players a quest and let them work out the best way to solve it, be that violence, conversations, or in some cases, annoying the NPC into leaving. Naturally, with so much versatility present in Baldur’s Gate 3, players are finding hilarious ways to complete quests, especially when it comes to an often unwanted guest that keeps appearing in your story. Baldur’s Gate 3 players find the best way to get rid of Raphael Posting onto Reddit, one user shared how they got rid of the Devil Raphael, the creature who offers to rid you of the Tadpole in exchange for your soul. Explaining how they did it, they shared: “I just recently started Act 3 and met everyone’s favorite Devil in Sharess Caress. Since he stays friendly even when you attack him, I was testing some spells and weapons on him when he suddenly disappeared and a “Quest Completed” window appeared.” After completing the quest, they checked their Journal and found that it said: “We made Raphael so angry that he has refused to continue to deal with us.” Prompting the deal to be off and Raphael to finally get out of the player’s hair. The player followed up the image and the story with: “Turns out you can be so irritating that the Devil that has been following your party for weeks just gives up.” It seems there are many more alternatives to Raphael’s questline than players think, and this one seems to be one of the easiest, and arguably the most enjoyable.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled by wild new Patch 3 weapon that has everyone questioning devs – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled by wild new Patch 3 weapon that has everyone questioning devs Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have been left scratching their heads over one outlandish new weapon added to the game in the latest Patch 3. Larian Studios recently rolled out the latest update, Patch 3, for Baldur’s Gate 3, which was utterly over-the-top yet again. The update, which exceeded Steam’s character limit, introduced a long list of fixes and new features, including the Magic Mirror for character appearance changes, macOS support, a new trade mode, and various stability fixes. However, one peculiar addition to the game’s weaponry has left the Baldur’s Gate 3 community questioning the developers. The newly added dagger is found in Act 1 and seems relatively normal at first glance, offering 4~7 piercing damage and the usual finesse attack or throwable options. However, the weapon doesn’t possess the typical shiny aesthetic we’ve seen from others in the game and instead features a shade of brown. The strange color can only be explained by the weapon’s name, “Poo-Scraper,” and if you’re looking for even more backstory, the description reads: “Fecund and revolting, the Abyss is not the worst place this has been.” The discovery of the “Poo-Scraper” led to a flurry of comments and questions in the Baldur’s Gate 3 community, with one player posting on Reddit, “Whoever’s idea this weapon was, I just wanna talk.” But, some players feel that the weapon is a missed opportunity, with comments like “ikr? such poor design, no poison dmg or anything,” and suggestions that it should do bonus necrotic or maybe psychic damage. We won’t judge you if you want to add the “Poo-Scraper” to your arsenal. To do so, simply check out the coffins within the Blighted Village’s cellars in Act 1, and you’ll then be able to start stabbing foes with this bizarre new weapon.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled as Cleric fails “obvious” Religion check – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled as Cleric fails “obvious” Religion check Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has multiple classes and each of them specializes in one particular task. Cleric is the class that specializes in religion. However, players are baffled that the Cleric ends up failing a religion check in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a deep game where players have to make classes before they proceed on their journey. Since every class has a specialty, you will build your team depending on your playstyle. One such class you can find in the RPG is the Cleric. Every Cleric follows one particular God or Goddess, which means they are quite adept in religion. However, players are baffled by the fact that a Cleric ended up failing a religion check. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans surprised by Cleric failing religion check The discussion surrounding the topic was started by a Reddit user who posted a screenshot where a Cleric ended up failing an obvious religion check. The Reddit user also made a comment claiming, “Is my Cleric stupid?” Other players joined the conversation as well and a lot of them have faced similar problems. One such player commented, “I really wish they would give clerics of Lathander a +20 or just auto succeed. This is another case of not everything needing to be a roll.” Another player mentioned, “This should be an automatic success for any Cleric, though. Especially a Cleric of Lathander haha.” One user chimed in, “Unpopular but I think there should be a few auto succeeds on some stuff. It just makes no sense a person who’s devoted their life to a study or particular god suddenly fails to remember key bits about their god.” Finally, a user claimed, “I kinda hate that religion is an int check. Like I get it, but it seems really weird to me that a core skill to Clerics keys off a stat they don’t use.” Therefore, it is safe to mention that all players feel that Clerics missing a religion check does not make sense. However, the game is designed this way, and it is something that players will have to accept unless the developers decide to make changes to it in the future.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled after bug puts cantrip in charge of party – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled after bug puts cantrip in charge of party Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 glitch is amusing players by showing a Mage Hand someone acting as the leader of the party. In a game as massive as Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s no surprise there are some bugs. Following the recent release of Patch 6, players have reported numerous new issues that seem to have been introduced alongside the update’s widely praised quality-of-life fixes. Some of these bugs, though, are more amusing than game-breaking, including one shared to Reddit in which a cantrip accidentally became the party leader. Baldur’s Gate 3 bug puts Lae’zel’s Mage Hand in charge Reddit user Nindo_99 shared a screenshot to the BaldursGate3 subreddit showing that it’s possible to trigger dialogue with the spectral hand created using the Mage Hand cantrip. As they explain, “Tried to grab the Umbral Gem at Yurgir with Laezel’s invisible Mage Hand but I did not expect this…” alongside an image of the glowing hand somehow speaking to Yurgir. How the Mage Hand communicates is unclear, as are the consequences of getting into a fight with just a spectral hand. It’s possible this bug is connected to one of Patch 6’s big changes: prioritizing the player’s avatar. Dialogue that triggers automatically is supposed to use your avatar as the main speaker wherever possible. However, with the party presumably waiting from a distance for the Mage Hand to stealthily get the job done, it seems the game got confused and triggered the dialogue with the cantrip. A similar thing happened to a player recently when Gale died near Scratch, causing a projection to explain how to resurrect him to the dog. Since developer Larian Studios has already released three Hotfixes since Patch 6 to address some of its issues, a fix for this bug could be coming soon. Until then, though, players don’t seem too bothered. As one said, “I, for one, bow to our new mage hand overlords.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled after being “nature zoned” by companion – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players baffled after being “nature zoned” by companion Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player has baffled the fanbase after being “nature zoned” by one of the game’s horniest companions. Sure, Baldur’s Gate 3 has some intense combat, unique NPCs, and beautiful landscapes – but at its core, many consider the game to be a more intense dating simulator. After all, the incredibly thirsty companions seem to always flirt with Tav, crafting some adorable relationships. However, while most of the companions are certainly flirtatious, you can still destroy a relationship by saying the wrong thing, even with one of the horniest companions in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 player gets brutally “nature zoned” by Halsin Sharing their brutal rejection on Reddit, one user showed off Halsins comment to Tav: “Nature is my true love. You, I merely tolerate.” While the comment itself is undeniably brutal, it left many players wondering what the poster did to get a companion like Halsin to be so annoyed. “Wait, Halsin the horniest of them all can reject you?! Dude what did you do? Did you set fire to a forest” commented one user, with many echoing the fact that Halsin is one of the easiest companions to romance in Baldur’s Gate 3. One BG3 player took to the comments to create a hilarious new saying for this rejection: “Ouch, bro got nature zoned.” Sure, he may be flirtatious to many, but as one fan commented “Halsin is a pure mystery with everything he does and says to me, but you poor thing. He’s so sweet how did that happen!” It’s certainly a feat to cause this lovely druid to hate you so much. Usually, the only way to truly annoy Halsin is to ignore the Shadow Curse, which can cause him to leave the party. Other than that, even with a neutral ranking, Halsin will likely flirt and try to start a relationship which only makes this rejection all the more brutal.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue it’s more fun to play as a dumb character – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue it’s more fun to play as a dumb character Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community seems to be in agreement that role-playing as a low Intelligence character is way more fun. Thanks to Baldur’s Gate 3’s incredibly flexible combat system, players can pull off some absolutely ridiculous feats in combat, like piling smokepowder barrels around a major boss to obliterate them. To pull off these item-based deathtraps, it’s always helpful to have characters with high strength like Barbarians and Fighters. However, a high Strength stat usually comes with a tradeoff of low Intelligence. Many members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community don’t seem to mind that penalty, though, as players have argued it’s more fun to roleplay as a dumb character anyway. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans love playing as dumb characters A post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit gained a lot of traction among the community after one user named Zodigod made a post titled, “I may be stupid but you’re mean and that’s worse.” They attached a meme from Yakuza 2, which showcased what it’s like to play as a low-intelligence character, and argued that “A real man…oughta be a little stupid.” Members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community loved the meme and shared their fun experiences of the silly shenanigans they were able to pull off with their low intelligence builds. “My Tav looks like a dwarf version of Kratos walks around in nothing but red undies and a hooded cape and fights barehanded with ridiculous force it’s the epitome of that feeling,” said one fan. Some fans argued they don’t need Intelligence when their high Strength does the job just fine. “Some people think they can outsmart me.. *sighs* maybe…maybe. I’ve yet to meet one who can outsmart greatsword,” noted another fan. On the other hand, some fans argue that having a high Intelligence stat doesn’t make a character any brighter. “My fiance Gale has high Int and he’s a dumbass, said one fan, referring to their bumbling Human Wizard companion. It just goes to show that although one’s player character may be dumb, as long as you play smart you can win any encounter in Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue devs have done Gale dirty in recent patches – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue devs have done Gale dirty in recent patches Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 player base has argued that Waterdeep Wizard Gale has been done dirty by the developers in recent patches, with the recent one making him particularly grumpy. Baldur’s Gate 3 is undoubtedly one of the greatest RPGs the gaming world has ever seen. The expansive multi-act story that features several maps, NPCs, and quests to complete can keep players in the game world for hours on end. Add the replayability value by trying different classes or switching up your party loadout, and it’s no surprise everyone has fallen in love. The developers at Larian are committed to continually improving the title as well. So far there have been three major patches for Baldur’s Gate, all introducing new quality-of-life mechanics like Wither’s Wardrobe of Wayward Friends. However, the patches haven’t been all sunshine and rainbows for one companion in particular. The Wizard of Waterdeep Gale has been getting a bit shaken up with the recent patches, causing players to be less than pleased. BG3 players claim Gale has been forgotten in recent patches Baldur’s Gate 3 players have argued that Gale has been getting the short end of the stick with the most recent patches. In particular, Patch 3 turned Gale into a bit of tsundere, making him much harder to romance even with high levels of affection. “Patch 3: Gale now treats you like crap with high approval rating (EDIT: During the “looking at the stars” scene), still did not fix the Raphael comment, now repeats conversations about absorbing magic items, probably more stuff,” the post rants. “It is frustrating. Also, there have been so many posts on here lately about people just not getting the weave scene with him, at all. And on PS5 at least, the camera angles for his stargazing romance scene are totally borked. I hope they prioritize some fixes for him soon,” another Gale lover responded. Some however found humor in the situation, wondering what Larian meant when they changed Gale. The team at Larian is continuing to work on Baldur’s Gate 3 which means we’ll likely see a fix for these unfortunate Gale bugs soon.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue case for NPC to become playable – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue case for NPC to become playable Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 fans want a certain NPC to join the party, as she fills a big character class role in the roster. Baldur’s Gate 3 has all of the character classes from the Dungeons & Dragons 5E Player’s Handbook, which you can give to your main character. You can also respec a party member to change their character class to something else. Some fans are annoyed that not all character classes are represented among the recruitable party members, as there are no Bards, Monks, or Sorcerers among the group. This is especially annoying, as two Druids can be hired to join the group. There is one NPC in the game which feels like a natural fit for a Baldur’s Gate 3 party member, as she fills a missing role in the class roster, has a great look, is encountered early in the story, and has a reason to hit the road as an adventurer. Baldur’s Gate 3 players want Alfira to become a playable Bard party member A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit created a thread that asked fans which NPC should be bumped up to playable character status to fill one of the three missing class roles. The most popular choice for the Bard was Alfira, the Tiefling musician who is encountered in the Druid’s Grove in Act I. “Bard: Alfira is pretty obvious. Also unique in that she has an NPC romance arc rather than being playersexual,” one user wrote, while another said, “Alfira not being a bard companion is a crime.” A few people also suggested Volo as a Bard in Baldur’s Gate 3. The main issue with Volo is that he’s one of the most famous characters in the Forgotten Realms D&D campaign setting, so his presence would overshadow the other party members who debuted in the game. Alfira does have a specific role in the Dark Urge Origin playthrough that could affect her chances, as it’s possible for the player to kill her. However, the game accounts for this as another character will replace Alfira if she’s incapacitated, so she could still fit as a party member in a Dark Urge run. Alfira fills the Bard role perfectly, with a long-running character arc that makes her a great fit for the party. It also wouldn’t be the first time an NPC got bumped up, as Halsin was also an NPC in the Early Access version of the game, so Alfira could receive the same treatment and become a player character.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue beloved NPC should have been a companion over Halsin – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue beloved NPC should have been a companion over Halsin Larian StudiosA lively argument in the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has started around Halsin’s suitability as a companion. It’s gone so far that players now suggest another popular NPC should have been a companion instead. Baldur’s Gate 3 has become beloved in the wider gaming community as a truly special RPG. A large part of that comes from how compelling the game’s companions are, and the stories you can write together. Larian has crafted these wonderful characters that help bring some humanity to a rather tragic story. Everyone will have their favorite companions and their least favorite. That can vary wildly depending on how your story went and personal preference. However, a debate is starting to wage around one companion in particular – the towering Druid Halsin. While many like him, some are disappointed that he shares a class with another in your party. They’ve even put forward another NPC as a potentially better Companion choice. Baldur’s Gate 3 players think a fan-favorite NPC should have been a companion In a Reddit thread with over 6.8k upvotes titled “Halsin never should have become a party member”, a user argued that Larian should have gone another way. They say: “He should’ve instead stayed a camp follower/secondary companion”. They added: “Halsin is a cool character but the spot of party Druid is already filled by Jaheira, having two Druid companions but no Bard, Monk or Sorcerer seems a bit strange.” They also posited that may have been the plan until Larian expanded him to a full companion after players loved him. “I imagine this was the original intention for Halsin until he became a fan favorite during early access.” Other Reddit members have added to the discussion, that Halsin’s spot should have been extended to the loved NPC, Alfira. She’s a Tiefling Bard that pops up throughout the game and would have added some class diversity to the game. One user said: “Alfira seemed like a huge missed opportunity.” Another concurred saying, “It blows my mind to this day that Halsin got made a party member, but Alfira who’s equally popular didn’t.” Maybe, if Larian Studios plans to expand upon Baldur’s Gate 3 with a DLC, we can see that party diversity grow with new characters. Alfira’s story could even be tweaked to allow her to become a companion. For now, though, we will have to wait and see.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue Astarion is “irrelevant” to the plot – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue Astarion is “irrelevant” to the plot Baldur’s Gate 3Baldur’s Gate 3 players are arguing that one of the community’s most-liked characters is “irrelevant” to the main plot of the game. Part of Baldur’s Gate 3’s appeal is its wide cast of characters, all of whom have their own unique personalities and intertwining narratives that play off of one another. As players near the end of the game, seeing these stories pay off and build with each other is a part of what makes the story so special. However, some fans are arguing that one of the community’s favorite characters is the exception, providing little significance to the main plot, if any. Baldur’s Gate 3 players argue that Astarion is insignificant to the story Over on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, a post was made detailing a player’s thoughts on how Astarion really has no impact on the overall story. “Astarion’s story is only ever focused on Cazador, who honestly feels like an afterthought,” the user explained. “Aside from the quick interaction with the hunter in act 1 Cazador has no presence until act 3, and in act 3, he has no bearing on the greater story.” They detail how they never felt themselves drawn to Astarion as a character, and they have come to realize this this is the reason why. Surprisingly, a number of other Baldurs’ Gate 3 players have come to agree with the sentiment, though many of them don’t view it as a bad thing: “Everyone is irrelevant to the main plot, but everyone except Astarion is tied into the main plot. And that’s something I like.” Another poster continues with: “I don’t need his story to be weaved into the plot like everything else (some of it actually felt a little bit shoe-horned in). Astarion’s just an unlucky man, who got lucky by getting picked up by the nautiloid.” One fan even feels that Astarion as a character provides an almost-meta feel to the game: “He is the representation of all the snark, lewdness and sass that has taken place at D&D tables since the 70’s. Without him, the other characters would take themselves too seriously. Plot or no plot, he’s invaluable.” Astarion’s sarcastic, biting personality is what drew so many players to him as soon as the game was released in Early Access, and having a player come out against him is sure to stir up some conversation. Whether or not they feel that his character is important to the overall story, it doesn’t seem to have any impact on anyone’s enjoyment of Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players aren’t sold on Act 3’s most consequential decision – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players aren’t sold on Act 3’s most consequential decision Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are taking a closer look at some of Act 3’s biggest moments, and some of them don’t hold up under scrutiny. By now, it’s common knowledge that Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t hit quite as hard as the first two. The streamlined progress of the first two areas get replaced with a sprawling, and oftentimes overwhelming city, which is more of a chore to explore despite being the name of the game. Additionally, there are some story elements here that don’t match the emotional highs of the first two acts. Baldur’s Gate players are used to literally being spoilt for choice; if there are less than four dialogue options in a conversation that’s usually an outlier. This is why some players find the strangely restricted choice at the end of the game in Act 3 so underwhelming. Baldur’s Gate 3 players brand Act 3’s big choice as “forced” One player summarised the situation on Reddit, saying: “So the big choice – choosing between The Emperor and The Prince. I didn’t like it. It feels so forced. I don’t see why we cannot convince The Emperor to just team up with The Prince. “It feels so arbitrary, given he’s supposedly such a grand strategist. It sucked and I’m sad about it. I know a lot of people like this choice, but I just don’t see it.” Several other players agreed, with one suggesting: “I think the conflict itself is fine, but it would probably be less controversial if we could persuade the Emperor to wait just a moment, then as soon as we released Orpheus, the prince attacked the Emperor, making him flee through the portal immediately.” Another joked: “I do feel like a large chunk of this game is managing the oversized egos of adult children.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are using classic tricks to one-shot difficult bosses – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are using classic tricks to one-shot difficult bosses Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are using a trick from Divinity: Original Sin 2 to quickly dispatch bosses. Baldur’s Gate 3, much like D&D itself, is a game that encourages you to think outside the box. The game’s systems are very open, with not a lot of restrictions placed on how you tackle situations in the world. If you can think of something to do, you can probably find a way to do it. Understandably, this openness is laying the way to some ingenious and inventive thinking when it comes to tackling bosses. Especially early on when players are limited on spells and effects, avoiding combat and finding out-of-the-box solutions is far more reliable than taking on a horde of enemies. That inspiration can come from anywhere. Be it a mix of the environment, things you can interact with, and your spells and equipment. It can also be from older games where tried and true strategies are being reborn. It seems some players are taking a page out of Larian’s own Divinity: Original Sin 2’s to tackle bosses. The tactic lovingly known by the community as “Barralmancy” has you taking big flammable barrels and positioning them around an enemy. Then it just takes one fire arrow and boom – a one-hit kill. Barrelmancy is back in Baldur’s Gate 3 Luality, known for beating Dark Souls on a dance mat, showed off how a carefully laid plan can come to fruition through cleverly placed barrels on the battlefield in one explosive clip. Elsewhere, as shown by Twitter user Liz_Caingcoy, it can take out powerful enemies too. In the video, it shows three ingenious ways to tackle three difficult early bosses in the Goblin camp. The first is a textbook case of Barrelmancy. Just a whole bunch of explosive barrels around a boss, and then one arrow for an easy win. The other two examples show the other bosses meeting their ends in big holes. Minthara, who can become a companion, falls to their death after a bridge support is hit as she’s walking across it. The hobgoblin boss is far more simple. A big shove sees him meet his end down a bottomless pit. These kinds of moments of player ingenuity show how far you can bend the systems of Baldur’s Gate 3. It seems likely we will be seeing a lot more creativity in the ways of destruction in the future.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are unhappy about Netflix live-action show rumors – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are unhappy about Netflix live-action show rumors Larian Studios/NetflixBaldur’s Gate 3 players are sharing displeasure at the rumors surrounding a live-action project created by Netflix. A Baldur’s Gate movie or TV show is essentially a D&D live-action project using the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. We’ve seen at least one modern movie in the Forgotten Realms, as Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was set there. The D&D multiverse is certainly big and interesting enough for many live-action properties, but what about Baldur’s Gate 3? The story of Baldur’s Gate 3 is amazing, but is it enough to draw in people who aren’t interested in D&D? Baldur’s Gate 3 fans don’t believe Netflix could make a good live-action adaptation A thread on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit was created to discuss the rumors surrounding a live-action Baldur’s Gate project by Netflix. The rumors come from Giant Freakin Robot, and they state that Netflix is in talks to create a live-action project based on the Baldur’s Gate series, either a TV show or a movie. It bears mentioning that the rumors about a Baldur’s Gate live-action project are just that: rumors. Even if a show had been greenlit shortly after the release of Baldur’s Gate 3, it would take years before it hits screens, possibly long after fans have stopped caring. Still, even now as the game’s popularity remains close to its apex, fans were quick to express their displeasure at the idea. Some of the vitriol is a response to Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher, which has had a polarizing last couple of seasons. “Hell no…after what they did to witcher.. nope.. double nope,” one user wrote, while another said, “Oh, look, the parasites sensed a fresh opportunity to profit from a new successful project, and most likely ruin it again. Keep your clumsy hands away from the franchise. I hope Sven doesn’t approve.” Many fans voiced their preferance for an animated show with the voice actors from the game, as this would capture the spirit of Baldur’s Gate 3 better than a live-action project. There is at least one live-action D&D TV show in development by Paramount, so we will see at least one attempt at bringing the Forgotten Realms to the small screen.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are thirsty for scrapped Nightsong design – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are thirsty for scrapped Nightsong design YouTube/Shrek of RiviaBaldur’s Gate 3 fans have fallen for a scrapped design for the Nightsong, which was later altered and used for something far grander. Baldur’s Gate 3 cut a lot of content during its lengthy Early Access period, as well as drastically altering several plotlines. These include the Nightsong, who resembles an armored angel in the final game but originally had a completely different aesthetic. A user on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit has created a thread asking fans if a specific character model was meant to be Shar, the Goddess of Darkness. Fans pointed out that the character model was a beta design for the Nightsong, when she had a different role in the story. As the scrapped version of the Nightsong showed a lot more skin, it prompted a predictable reaction from the fanbase. “I do like the Aylin we got, but damn this model looks clean and the tattoos are beautiful. I wished they used this model for a boss or NPC in the game. (or for Shar.),” one fan wrote while another said, “Guess I’m worshipping her now.” “Answer me this: if Shar is supposed to be all about absence then why has she got all that?!” one fan joked, and another answered, “She wants to make everyone forget all of their exes.” “If it is I gotta rethink my allegiance to Selune,” one fan said, and another wondered, “I couldn’t understand why people worshipped her before. I now see the light. Or darkness.” “Mommy Shar” and “Would” were also uttered a few times. It seems the model wasn’t completely unused, as it resembles the statues of Shar seen in Act II, as well as the avatar you can potentially face in Act III. The clothes also appear to have been reworked as dancer outfits in Sharess’ Caress. The final version of the Nightsong is a holy warrior of vengeance who acts as a staunch ally during a good playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3. If her original design had been kept, along with a greater connection to Shar, she might have convinced more players to take the evil route.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are stealing from Volo and it’s a great idea – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are stealing from Volo and it’s a great idea Larian StudiosMost of the time in Baldur’s Gate 3, stealing can land you in considerable trouble, especially if you get caught. You could also lose some key approval with your companions regardless of whether you get caught or not. However, if you steal from Volo, all those issues are well worth it for the sweet rewards. The usefulness of emptying poor Volos pockets was recently discovered by Baldur’s Gate 3 fans on the game’s Reddit after one player revealed the rewards you can gain from one of the game’s most annoying NPCs. “Does anyone else spend 2 hours every run stealing from Volo?” asked the player, going on to explain that they “love having hundreds of thousands of coins and infinite camp supplies/potions/scrolls. The game is so much more fun for me when I don’t have to constantly sift through non-unique loot up from enemies and manage camp supplies.” While many other NPCs and enemies hold the occasional coin, simple scimitar, or armor, Volo seems to constantly have powerful items in stock, from gold, scrolls, thieves tools, potions, and as previously mentioned, “infinite camp supplies.” Others were shocked to discover such a great workaround for gaining supplies, with another fan adding that, while Volo’s in the camp, he acts as a trader with “thieves tools, healing potions and most importantly spells scrolls.” On top of this, they revealed, “he also never turns hostile from pickpocketing. You can just steal from him infinitely for the entire game.” This means you’ll have unlimited scrolls, gold, supplies, and almost all you need as a spellcaster. While one spellcaster class may be the most unused in Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s clear that if you’re not already, you should definitely be emptying Volo’s pockets as soon as he arrives in your camp, you never know what powerful spells or useful resources you may find.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are sick of party members running into this spell’s AOE – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are sick of party members running into this spell’s AOE Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 cast might consist of loveable rogues, but they still have an annoying knack for running into dangerous spell AoEs, even after all of the updates the game has received to date. Mastering AoE and distance is important for playing a spellcaster in Baldur’s Gate 3. The main benefit of an arsenal of spells is the ability to strike multiple foes at once with a single attack, so you have to be careful to avoid hitting allies. While most D&D players know to keep out of a spell’s damage range, the same can’t be said for the AI-controlled party members in Baldur’s Gate 3. It took several patches to teach them how to jump properly, but they still sometimes fling themselves into the line of fire. One spell in particular is causing problems, as discussed by users on the BG3 Reddit. The spell is Moonbeam, a powerful Druid spell that causes a beam of damaging light to shine down from the sky, hurting anyone it touches. Unfortunately, this includes party members, who keep accidentally entering its AoE. “I really hope they fix this in Patch 7, it’s almost as bad as walking in fire was back last year,” one user wrote, while another said, “This and cloud of daggers. I swear to god. Enemies know to get out of it when I cast it on them, so why don’t you?” “This reminds me of how often they run through my Cloud of Daggers,” another user wrote, “I always have to stop concentrating on it as fast as possible because they and any ally NPC just run straight through it after combat and then get mad at me.” Luckily, some enemies also succumb to AI pathfinding errors. “I once had a combat where Khaga cast moonbeam and walked into it on the same turn. Twice.” Moonbeam has also caused problems in other areas of the game, as it can strike through multiple floors at once, making it annoying to use in buildings. This is a shame, as it’s one of the best low-level Druid spells in the game. The developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 aren’t finished with the game just yet, with more content and patches in the pipeline. Hopefully, there will be an AI update that will finally stop the party from going moonbathing.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are sick of “lies” in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are sick of “lies” in the game Baldur’s Gate 3Some members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community are poking fun at the “lies” they’ve found in various character names. Each of the characters that players meet in Baldur’s Gate 3 has a richly crafted narrative to share, a backstory, and lore that help flesh them out further. This includes the titles of some of these characters, which give hints as to their profession or background that people may not have known about beforehand. However, some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have found these titles and names to be misleading, and are having fun with it. Baldur’s Gate 3 players expose the “lies” of character names In a post to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, a player made a post titled: “I’m sick and tired of the lies in this game.” But instead of anything too serious, the post is about various names that aren’t actually all that true in the game: “Blood of Lathander – is not blood, Iron Throne – not a throne, Nightsong – not a song, Blade of Avernus – not a blade, The Emperor – not an emperor.” The responses have gone along with this schtick as well, with more users pointing out other names that fit this bill. “Shadowheart – has a heart full of silliness and optimism.” Some have even gone even more specific and small in what they’re analyzing: “A’star’ion. It’s GALE who explodes when he dies. Do better, Bryan.” One Baldur’s Gate 3 player even used the joke as a way to take a jab at another well-known gaming fiasco from a few years ago: “It feels like I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 with all the lying involved in it lol.” It’s a fun joke that the community is having fun with, posing the question: can the game do any wrong? It’s not looking like it for the fans.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are scheming up the worst class for each companion – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are scheming up the worst class for each companion Larian StudiosThese Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are coming together to cook up some of the most egregious class combinations for their party members. It’s one of the first considerations any RPG player has to make when crafting a character: what class am I going to play? Your choice impacts everything from chit-chat to combat, so it’s not to be taken lightly. Baldur’s Gate 3 captures this part of the experience perfectly. Thankfully, Withers can respec any of your Baldur’s Gate 3 party members for a modest price. This means that, while this feature can be used to undo some regrettable Tav builds, you can also change the assigned class of any of the game’s playable characters. This has sparked Redditors to brainstorm some pretty heinous class combos for their allies. From roles they’d hate to fill to ones they’d just be plain bad at. Baldur’s Gate 3 players share worst class pick for every party member In a slightly sadistic twist, players really latched onto the notion of Shadowheart as Beastmaster Ranger with a wolf companion or as a Druid that wild shapes into a wolf. Given her intense phobia of wolves, one player asked, “would it mean that she’s constantly having to make saves against the fear debuff?” Another common suggestion was Gale as a Barbarian. This idea has obvious comedic value due to Gale’s sweet, conflict-averse nature, but it becomes even more hilarious after you hear his Barbarian Rage shout. Rather than appearing intimidating, one commenter said the weedy Waterdhavian just “sounds like he’s angry over a book getting wet”. Others pointed out that having Astarion as a Paladin or Life Domain Cleric could really complicate things, given that his allegiances would compel him to wipe out the undead — a bit of an awkward situation for a vampire to be in. Plenty of players agreed on both Karlach and Wyll being far too excitable to be sneaky Rogues. Meanwhile, Minthara’s beef with Wizards makes that a pretty obvious class for her. Lae’zel delivers a pretty hardcore vicious mockery, so despite her low charisma, she makes a pretty entertaining bard.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are scared by insanely difficult Legendary Actions – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are scared by insanely difficult Legendary Actions Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 hardest difficulty mode, Honor Mode, introduced Legendary actions to bosses that some players are finding simply way too challenging to tackle. Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode gave players who found Tactician too easy a whole host of new challenges to overcome. One of the challenges introduced by Larian Studios is allowing players only a single save file, preventing constant situation re-dos to get a desired outcome. Despite this, a handful of players have still had a nonchalant attitude to Honor Modes’ ramped-up difficulty – but some Legendary Actions have definitely humbled these players. Baldur’s Gate 3’s crazy Legendary Actions Legendary Actions are extremely powerful passive features that bosses in Honor Mode can use, and people have been discovering that they are not to be messed with: “Just beat Honor Mode. Those Legendary Actions are no joke.“ Some felt genuinely scared knowing that bosses that had crushed them time and time again in Tactician now have Legendary Actions in their arsenal. “11 Hours, Lvl8 and about to fight Myrkul. I’m really scared of that fight. Two months ago that fight Took me 10+ Tries on tactician.” For others, some Bosses’ Legendary actions were completely manageable, but there was always one opponent for each player whose action seemed to counter their build and whatever tactics they had. “Oddly I found the final boss the easiest, killed it in two rounds. I found Orin the hardest, her legendary abilities are f**ked.” For another Honor Mode adventurer, it was Cazador who was the thorn in their side. “Cazador f**ked me and my meleee party up. Sorry Astarion, I couldn’t save you,” they said. However, despite struggling in Honor Mode, other players couldn’t help but reflect on how far they’d come from the “noob” mistakes they made when first playing Baldur’s Gate 3.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are respeccing Companions with brilliantly funny results – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are respeccing Companions with brilliantly funny results Larian StudiosSome Baldur’s Gate 3 players are respeccing their Companions into different classes, introducing some fantastically funny results and previously unseen voice lines. Baldur’s Gate 3 prides itself on its versatility, allowing players to complete quests their own way, build relationships with whatever Companion they choose, and create an entirely unique character. This creativity can sometimes extend to Companions thanks to respeccing. Essentially, respeccing Companions allows you to keep your favorite character and build them to fit around your party instead, changing Gale from a Wizard to a Bard for example. Now, some players have discovered the hilarious results they get when respeccing the Companions into obscure classes. Baldur’s Gate 3 players have discovered power of respeccing Companions Posting onto Reddit, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared what happened when they respected Gale from his traditional Wizard class into an Assassin Rogue, stating: “I had taken a liking to Gale so I decided to respec him as an Assassin Rogue. I figured it could make sense considering his condition that he would have been rendered entirely incapable of channeling magic and that he would make do as a rogue, since they have the most approachable skills.” They then went on to explain how, once they’d given him a rapier and a hat, he turned into “such a hilarious character” primarily because “most of his stealth lines are decidedly anti-stealth (Get me out of here!, I’m not the person you want for this, I’m fairly certain this is illegal, etc..)” The poster explained how poor Gale is “completely neurotic and out of his element without his magic and the moments where he talks about all he lost hit way harder now too,” essentially making him feel like a different character. Shortly after posting, the story blew up, with over 1,000 comments at the time of writing. A fair amount of those comments were discussing the hilarious ramifications of respeccing any Companions into a Bard, with one explaining how “characters actually voice lines when using Vicious Mockery” in which tons of players started sharing the best insults their Bard Companions have shared. One made Astarion into a College of Sword Bard, revealing that: “His Vicious Mockery lines absolutely kill me,” going on to share one of his lines: “Is that your face? My word.” Others began getting excited about this idea, with many highlighting, “Now I really want to know what Karlach’s lines are.” The Bard respec wasn’t the only element fans had enjoyed, with one explaining that they’ve “heard that monk Karlach makes hilarious martial arts noises while fighting.” Shortly after, many others agreed, calling it the “best choice I made in this game.” All the new lines from Vicious Mockery and the fact that the voice actors’ lines change in battle depending on their class certainly feel like a reason to start another playthrough with an all-Bard party, almost making a band as hilarious as another player’s idea.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are picking Dark Urge for one infamous companion – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are picking Dark Urge for one infamous companion Larian StudiosOne of Baldur’s Gate 3’s most infamous companions is leading players to start playing as the Dark Urge, the Origin character that struggles with evil instincts. We’ve all had to deal with the temptation of picking the bad dialogue options, but the Dark Urge makes those choices much harder. Or easier, depending on your point of view. Playing as the Dark Urge, or the “Durge” as some players have taken to calling it, unlocks new interactions and scenarios with the rest of your camp, and it even gives you access to different party members if you play your cards right. One of these interactions in particular has players wondering if playing as the Durge could be more fun than they thought, and as usual, the culprit in question is Astarion. Astarion’s Durge dialogue is tempting players to be evil In a post on the Baldur’s Gate subreddit, one player highlighted some of the unique Durge dialogue that came from Astarion during their playthrough, and concluded: “This is why I’ll always play Dark Urge from now on.” Other players also noted that Gale had some great interactions with the Durge, with another user saying: “When my Durge confessed he was going to be forced to kill him because he was the one he cared for the most Gale’s responds: ‘Sweet that you care enough to murder me. Mind if you don’t?’” It’s no surprise that these two have emerged as favorites for Dark Urge players. After all, an insane amount of fanfiction has been written about them. Still, it looks like there could be an influx of Dark Urge players restarting the game soon. Those teiflings in the Druid grove had better watch out. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are not impressed by Astarion’s final form – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are not impressed by Astarion’s final form Larian StudiosPlayers reaching the final stages of Baldur’s Gate 3 have given their verdict on Astarion’s ascension, and it’s not kind at all. The Baldur’s Gate 3 fanbase may be obsessed with Astarion, but that doesn’t mean they can’t laugh at him. Astarion’s popularity has always straddled the line between “hot vampire rogue” and “he’s so broken and pathetic, I have to fix him”, and his story is all about exploring that vulnerability. If you follow it through to the point where you face down Cazador, his former master, Astarion gets the opportunity to escape his status as a vampire spawn and ascend- but players can’t seem to take him seriously, and his offer to turn you into his spawn doesn’t help. It’s not the first time players have thrown shade at him, and it won’t be the last. When it was discovered that mindflayers like to describe Astarion’s brain as “smooth”, the community decided to brand him as canonically stupid. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can’t take Ascended Astarion seriously In a post on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, one player described how they couldn’t stop laughing at Astarion’s supposed moment of triumph, especially when he gave his speech. They said: “His entire speech at the party about him being so much better and stronger than Cazador, and achieving what he only dreamt of left me on the floor, crying with laughter. “Astarion is the single weakest, most pathetic spawn in the entire Cazador’s court. He spent three centuries feeding on rats, terrified of even a thought of rebellion. “I swear, without Tav, he will be gone in like a year once the first adventuring party will come to clear his palace for loot. He won’t even be an epic vampire lord, just some mini-boss for a level 5 party.” Several other players agreed, with one comment reading: ” I think that’s the whole point of Ascendant Astarion. It’s a bad ending for him, he becomes as arrogant and as ignorant as his old master. He is still a slave even with his old master dead. “He is never able to live without fear. He thought having power could fill the void inside him and so he brag about being so powerful, but it doesn’t work that way.” For more news and updates on Baldur’s Gate 3, check out Xbox’s response to player backlash about suspensions from the console version of the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are making hundreds selling Collector’s Edition digital content – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are making hundreds selling Collector’s Edition digital content Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s Collector Edition has been sold out since before launch, but those who want the in-game dice skins alone can still get them – if they’re willing to pay hundreds of dollars. Few people expected Baldur’s Gate 3 to be the huge success that it is. With the game being so well-received by critics and players alike, it’s no wonder some fans really want to get their hands on the Collector’s Edition. Unfortunately, this was limited to 25,000 units and has been sold out since the month before launch. Those diehards who really want to buy Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition second-hand can find it being sold whole or in parts on eBay. However, they’ll have to pay a pretty significant markup, as just the digital dice skins alone are going for over $300. Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition resellers are charging hundreds for digital dice Larian Studios originally sold the Collector’s Edition for $270. This includes the game, a mind flayer statue, Magic: The Gathering Battle for Baldur’s Gate booster packs, an oversized d20, an in-game dice skin based on that d20, and other physical and digital goodies. The entire set is going for well over $1,000 on eBay, some without the digital content. As of this writing, there are pre-orders for the PC and PlayStation 5 editions going for over $2,000 each. While that’s over seven times the original price, what’s more shocking is how much some are paying just for one of the digital rewards. There are at least five instances of people buying codes for the in-game dice skin – no physical product included – for between $280 and $445. D&D players are known for going crazy over dice, but this takes things to a whole new level. Those who are disappointed they missed out on Baldur’s Gate 3’s Collector’s Edition still have reason to remain hopeful. Just before launch, Larian Director of Publishing Michael Douse said on Twitter that the publisher is considering another run in the future. Given the reception Baldur’s Gate 3 has received since then, the odds of more Collector’s Editions releasing seem pretty high. While it may be some time before players can get their hands on them, it’s nice to know those who missed out might eventually be able to get the Collector’s Edition without having to sell any organs.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are making gruesome mistake with Owlbear cub – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are making gruesome mistake with Owlbear cub Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player was horrified to realize they accidentally caused Owlbear cannibalism, leading others to understand they’d made the same mistake. The Owlbear cub is beloved among players for its adorable appearance and friendship with fellow good boy Scratch. That makes any in-game mistakes related to the character all the more upsetting. That’s something one Baldur’s Gate 3 player learned the hard way through an experience they shared on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit. In a post, the player said “I think I accidentally fed the owl bear his unhatched little sibling.” They went on to explain how despite selecting all of their long rest supplies manually to avoid accidentally eating the Owlbear Egg players can obtain in Act 1, the item disappeared. The poster eventually realized what went wrong – during the scene where the cub appears at Camp asking for food, they agreed to give the critter something from their pack. The game doesn’t let you choose what you give the cub, which led the player to conclude “the only way it could have been consumed is if I fed the owl bear egg to its brother.” In reaction to the post, others have realized they made the same mistake, with one player saying “I think you just explained the mysterious disappearance of the egg from my last game.” While the player felt “horrible” about the mistake and said “I’m a terrible Druid and I’m so so sorry,” the good news is they didn’t commit much of a faux pas, especially in the Owlbear world. Despite their cute appearance, Owlbears are brutal creatures that eat their own kind. Baldur’s Gate 3 has several examples of Owlbear on Owlbear crime, with the cub mentioning that his mother ate his brother at one point. On top of that, if you kill the mother Owlbear in Act 1, the cub will start eating her corpse, so he probably wouldn’t be too upset about eating his unborn sibling.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are loving the “most OP” feat in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are loving the “most OP” feat in the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have expressed their love for “the most OP” feat in the entire game, giving their party immense advantages when initiating a battle. Larian Studio’s Baldur’s Gate 3 has been nothing but an absolute success for the developers. The RPG saw massive acclaim both critically and socially, with the game eventually winning Game of the Year at 2023’s Game Awards. With a bounty of options, players are able to take their own unique path while playing the game, really giving them the freedom a sandbox provides. Whether or not they choose to be good, evil, a noble Paladin, or a cunning rogue is entirely in the hands of the player. The same can be said for the game’s combat, which lets players pick and choose how they take on each encounter. Sometimes this means avoiding combat completely, however, when push comes to shove, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have fallen in love with the Alert feat. BG3 players have fallen in love with the Alert feat When starting a combat in Baldur’s Gate 3, all entities involved will need to roll for Initiative. Initiative enforces the turn order in combat, meaning it’s vitally important to have a high initiative so you can get the first strike in. That’s where the Alert feat comes into play, as it grants a +5 bonus to Initiative, and prevents you from being surprised. This is incredibly handy for taking on opponents, as you’ll always have your say first. “‘Alert’ must be the most OP thing ever,” one Reddit user claimed. “It’s amazing and my favorite feat. I always pick it in regular DnD too if my character is neurotic, anxious or a scaredy-cat,” another agreed. Others pointed out that since Baldur’s Gate uses a D4 to roll for initiative, a +5 bonus is all the more welcome. “It’s even more busted in BG3 considering the initiative is done with a d4 instead of a d20.” With a wealth of feats to choose from while playing Baldur’s Gate 3, it can almost be too much for the player to pick, fortunately, Alert is always a great option for anyone unsure.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are killing Karlach to skip Wyll’s transformation – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are killing Karlach to skip Wyll’s transformation Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players hate to see their beloved companions suffer, but many fans are willing to take down one innocent ally just to avoid a heartbreaking Wyll scene. If there’s one thing Baldur’s Gate 3 does wonderfully, it’s emotional storytelling. It’s hard to not feel pain in your heart when Karlach is begging to stay alive or when she’s so overjoyed by simply being able to hug your character, or when Astarion has to face his abuser after a lifetime of pain. However, while this does certainly engross you, it can also lead to rather tough decisions. With that in mind, some Baldur’s Gate 3 players hate one of Wyll’s first scenes so much, that they’re willing to kill to avoid it. “One aspect of Wyll’s story that was really well done is his initial punishment by Mizora when you convince him to spare Karlach,” shared one player on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit. Initially, this is entirely agreeable, as the development of horns is certainly shocking but does a great job of showing the seriousness of his situation. However, they went on to add how, since watching that scene, the player finds themself “avoiding recruiting Karlach because I dread Wyll having to go through that again.” In fact, during their “second playthrough, I actually killed Karlach because I wanted to spare him from that fate.” It seems the player isn’t alone in this decision, as thousands agreed with the poster and shared similar stories. “First play through he got the horns. Second play through I decided to have him kill Karlach to avoid this” shared one user in the comments. Interestingly, plenty of fans were killing Karlach to avoid Wylls fate, but were also doing it with the intention of bringing her back to life, getting the best of both worlds: “The contract says he has to kill her, not that she needs to stay dead. Therefore, killing and resurrecting should be enough.” Unfortunately, this doesn’t work and means you’ll have Wyll with the horns and a dead Karlach until you can revive her. Naturally, some were shocked to see the fanbase’s questionable way of avoiding Wyll’s horn transformation, commenting: “You killed Karlach specifically because you didn’t want Wyll to hurt? RIP Karlach lol.” Whether you choose to take down Karlach or let Wyll get his punishment, he will always feel extremely remorseful and upset regarding either choice so it’s a lose-lose either way – unless you can find a way to have both.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are in love with Shadowheart’s “hilarious” Durge reaction Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a wide range of characters with unique personalities leading to varied reactions, and some players have heavily praised Shadowheart’s reaction to the Durge (Dark Urge) origin in the game. Shadowheart is by far one of the most popular characters in all of Baldur’s Gate 3. She has an appeal that attracts many people which in turn leads them to try romancing her in the game. As it happens, players have taken notice of how Shadowheart reacts when they decide to play as the Durge origin in Baldur’s Gate 3, and they feel that it’s hilarious yet sweet for which they can’t stop praising her. Baldur’s Gate 3 players praise Shadowheart’s “hilarious” Durge reaction Starting a discussion on Reddit, the player compared Shadowheart’s reaction to Durge to other characters and said, “All the companions have a good reaction to resist Durge when they’re on the block, but hers is just another level of hilarity.” One player added that players can get a special advantage on the roll to resist where it said, “Shadowheart believes in you”. It’s super sweet!!” Shadowheart’s reaction to Durge left some with a desire to romance this companion, and they would travel that extra mile to ” make a third character that ends up romancing Shadowheart, just what I needed.” Players explained how they “love this scene” as they felt it’s “the only time that your companions do something for you, rather than you holding their hand through their personal story while you wait to finish your own.” According to Baldur’s Gate 3 players, moments like this go a long way into adding depth to Shadowheart’s character. “Shadowheart has faith in you, amongst the humorous dialogue she has here this bit is such an easily missed detail but just adds so much to her.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are heartbroken by these characters who won’t flirt back – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are heartbroken by these characters who won’t flirt back Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is filled with characters who the player can develop complex and organic relationships with, but that isn’t enough for some people. Despite the large number of companions and party members in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are even more NPCs throughout the game’s three acts who unfortunately won’t respond to any of the player’s advances. It makes sense that there would be some characters that can resist the built-in charisma that every Baldur’s Gate protagonist comes equipped with, but that hasn’t stopped some players from theorizing what it would be like to romance some of the less appreciated characters. Some of these are a bit weird, though. Baldur’s Gate 3 players discuss NPCs that can’t be romanced Players took to the official Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit to debate which of the undateable characters they were most heartbroken by. However, it looks like quite a few of these were not available to be romanced for good reason. One of the top characters mentioned was Abdirak, the sadistic worshipper of the pain god who you first bump into at the Goblin Camp in Act 1. Another one of the less moral characters up for discussion was Gortash: “primarily because he’s voiced by Jason Isaacs and I’m not afraid to admit I simp so hard for that man.” And speaking of voiceovers, the Narrator was the top-mentioned character(?) in the list. She obviously can’t be romanced as she doesn’t have a physical body- though considering this is the same game that lets you sleep with a bear, that isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are head over heels for an NPC they’re not allowed to romance – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are head over heels for an NPC they’re not allowed to romance Larian StudiosRomance is an essential part of Baldur’s Gate 3, but that is an activity you cannot indulge in with every companion. However, this does not stop players from falling in love with certain characters and there is one NPC fans are head over heels for. Baldur’s Gate 3 is quite diverse when it comes to romance. Each of your companions have varying personalities and quests attached that you need to comply with if you want to romance them. However, companions are not the only ones who have interesting personalities. If you dive into the game deep enough, you will come across NPCs who are equally fun, but you cannot romance them. Such is the case with Dammon, whom players are dying to romance, but they cannot as the game does not allow it. Baldur’s Gate 3 players only want to romance one key NPC The discussion surrounding the topic was initiated by a Baldur’s Gate 3 player where they posted, “The only man I wanted to romance.” Additionally, they attached a meme that had an image of Dammon, a tiefling blacksmith. A lot of players joined in the conversation as they feel very similar to the owner of the original post. One such user stated, “I would step all over the male companions for a piece of Dammon. And the only thing that would keep me away is if Karlach called dibs.” Another user chimed in, “The rumour that Larian deleted flirt between him and Karlach is really sad. They would be perfect.” One player also claimed, “They better give us more if they give us a DLC.” Finally, one of the players commented, “He looks like Cillian Murphy.” As a reply to this, one user mentioned, “He does! A mix of Cillian and a young Henry Cavill.” Therefore, it is safe to mention that players are deeply in love with this character. In fact, they are way more emotional about Dammon than most of the male companions whom they can romance in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, this is one of the most fun aspects about the game where you are bound to fall in love with characters irrespective of whether you can romance them or not.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are finally turning on Withers – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are finally turning on Withers Larian StudiosWithers is a vital part of Baldur’s Gate 3, granting you the ability to recruit hirelings and resurrect your companions, but players are growing tired of his attitude. It was only a matter of time, really. Withers is such an important part of the game, both in terms of mechanics and the story, but his holier-than-thou attitude and frustrating lack of explanations make him a tough guy to hang around with. He’s mean to Arabella when her parents just died, he pushes you into fighting the Dead Three’s chosen, and he spends way too much time hanging around camp refusing to answer questions. Sure, he can revive Shadowheart after she dies to another five consecutive attempts at the Gauntlet of Shar, but is that really worth the annoyance of keeping him around? Baldur’s Gate 3 players brand Withers as “manipulative” Several players have clued into just how frustrating Withers actually is, with one fan saying that they were “tired of this manipulative a**hole.” “First off, he turns up at your camp uninvited with no plans to leave, telling you it’s fate even though he’s clearly been stalking you since the crypt. “Then he enlists you and your party to fight innumerable horrors and three Gods’ Chosens, plus an Elder Brain on steroids without your knowledge or consent, and with little to no regard for your sanity or safety. “He mocks you for not getting laid. He mocks you for getting laid. Not to mention his constant air of superiority like he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else.” Players were particularly angry at the thought that Withers might recruit them for another world-changing event in the future, with one saying: “We are just a pawn in his cleanup operation to fix a mistake he made ages ago that caused trouble for like a whole trilogy”.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are fed up of getting ‘backseated’ by this NPC – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are fed up of getting ‘backseated’ by this NPC Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are annoyed by this certain NPC that keeps telling them what to do, despite the game allowing them to make their own choices. At the start of the game, Baldur’s Gate 3 players will have the option to create and even customize their own Guardian, an NPC that will essentially guide them through their journey. Aside from appearing in cutscenes, they can also offer advice and even warn players if they attempt to do something that will lead to chaos. But apparently, despite their intentions to guide you, players have expressed that they’re not happy about being told what to do. One person even mentioned that they’re equivalent to a “built-in Twitch chat.” In a Reddit thread discussing how the Guardian behaves, players have shared some instances that made them annoyed with this NPC. “When the ‘guardian’ is all like ‘try something else’, like bro, stop back seating. I ain’t eating no goddamn tadpole. I don’t care if it makes me more powerful. I say no to drugs,” one person wrote. Others in the comments shared a similar experience, and one person even wished there was a mute option for this NPC. They said, “I do not give a f*** what he has to say. I’ve done multiple complete playthroughs.” Another player claimed they’re annoyed due to the NPC constantly going, “Hey, there’s a parasite in that corpse!”. They said, “Yes, I know, I’ll go throw it in my camp chest like all the others. I’m not eating your mind slugs.” “‘That won’t work!’ F**** you b**** that had a 70% chance of working, and you f****** know it,” another chimed in. For the uninitiated, the Guardian in Baldur’s Gate 3 will suggest players eat tadpoles to become more powerful. Though this is up to the player’s choice, the Guardian will still notify you if there’s any tadpole nearby regardless.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are disappointing their parents by romancing monsters – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are disappointing their parents by romancing monsters Larian StudiosSorry to tell you this, Baldur’s Gate 3 fans. It’s too late to hit Alt+Tab. Your family already know how weird you are. Top-class storytelling and expansive combat system aside, one thing that Baldur’s Gate 3 fans really love about the game is its eclectic roster of possible love interests. Even vampires and tieflings start to seem vanilla when compared to some of your in-game sweethearts. Thankfully, your beloved’s virtual nature means you’ll never have to worry about bringing them home to the parents. However, one poorly-timed over-the-shoulder glance at your gaming session could leave your family with an eyeful of the most intimate moments of your fictional dalliances. Yikes. Baldur’s Gate 3 player’s parent finds them in questionable Mind Flayer scene One player took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit to share an awkward account of their father walking in on them while their character was locked in a tender-tentacled moment with The Emperor. Understandably, their first reaction was a state of humiliated panic. As they put it, “I think it’s time for me to either die or move out. My relationship with my father is forever tainted.” Turns out, they’re not the only one who regrets not leaving a tie on the door handle while playing Baldur’s Gate 3. A commenter on the thread admitted they had their mother interrupt them during their The Emperor scene too. Scenes with Karlach the big red babe are not immune to parental exposure either. In one case, the player’s mother was oddly inquisitive about the whole affair: “Her asking me “Why are you two naked? Why is she picking you up? What is she doing?” and then going “Oh.” and fleeing my room was equal parts embarrassing and hilarious.” Of course, there’s also the rarer case of role reversal, where parents wind up getting caught by their children. One father explained: “I live in absolute horror of my kid walking in on a romance scene. He plays the game too, but he doesn’t need to know that I would leave his mother for Bae’zel [bae Lae’zel] without a second thought.” Despite OP’s fears of having permanently damaged their father-daughter relationship, their dad was apparently “super chill” about the whole situation in the end. So take that as full permission to let your freak flag fly, monster lovers.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are disappointed in “extremely unrewarding” evil path – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are disappointed in “extremely unrewarding” evil path Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 gives players plenty of freedom in how they take on the game’s many quests, but many are expressing frustration that evil playthroughs aren’t as satisfying as good ones. Like the tabletop game it’s based on, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives players near unlimited freedom to push its mechanics to create and roleplay the characters they want. Players are free to help or hurt just about anyone, allying with the “good” guys or betraying them in favor of evil-aligned NPCs. However, while there are some things players can only access when they choose to be bad, fans have expressed overall disappointment in evil runs of Baldur’s Gate 3, citing a lack of rewarding content to make up for what is lost. Evil Baldur’s Gate 3 runs miss out on a lot of content While some popular companions like Astarion and Lae’zel will approve of players who make “evil” choices, several become inaccessible if the player veers too far to the dark side. Evil players can recruit Minthara, but doing so will cause Wyll and others to leave and prevents Halsin (as of Patch 1), Jaheria, and Minsc from joining. On top of that, her character progression has been widely criticized, making Minthara a pretty disappointing trade-off. In a Reddit thread started by Parasocial_Potato, players have been discussing their frustrations with Baldur’s Gate 3’s evil options and potential solutions that would make it more enjoyable. As Parasocial_Potato points out, “None of the good NPCs carry around magical items… meanwhile pockets of evil NPCs are brimming with magical items, ripe to be looted.” Sections of the game like the Druid’s Grove and Last Light Inn reward good-aligned players for their actions, while evil players miss out on a lot of content, including companions, tadpoles, vendors, and quests. Adding more companions to a game as dense as Baldur’s Gate 3 is unrealistic outside of a major expansion – something Larian Studios has said isn’t coming anytime soon. However, Reddit user Thal-creates proposed an intriguing potential solution to losing so many companions on an evil run: “Give [an] option to brainwash them.” Such a thing would make sense in game where illithids and tadpoles play such a crucial role, and it would be a fittingly evil thing to do. Some adjustments would certainly be necessary (the developers should definitely remove the ability to romance such companions to avoid disturbing implications there), but this would give evil players way more to work without needing to create and implement evil or neutral companions from scratch. The fact that a game as open as Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t sufficiently reward evil players may be disappointing, but it’s still an important step. As aoelag notes, player data has shown a vast majority choose to play as “good” characters, which has historically made it hard for developers to justify creating deep, branching content that most will never see. Baldur’s Gate 3’s evil run may be imperfect, but the fact that the options are there in a game that’s being so widely praised for its openness could signal to other developers that such things are worth the investment.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are “depriving” themselves of playing until Patch 7 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are “depriving” themselves of playing until Patch 7 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 7 may be released sometime in September 2024, but players are already trying to punish themselves by refusing to play until it drops. Usually, a community will stop playing a game if they either fall out of love with it, or the developers do something that annoys the playerbase. However, when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3, nothing is ever traditional, including the reasons for a lack of play. With the seventh major patch coming, players have taken to “depriving” themselves of enjoying the game. In fact, hundreds seem to be joining in on the chosen punishment, with users taking to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit to reveal why they’re doing it. “Anyone else depriving themselves of BG3 until Patch 7” asked one player. The post quickly took off, with hundreds of players also doing the same. “Yes. I’ve been feeling the itch but I’m gonna wait for the patch” replied another fan. Others shared exactly why the fanbase is doing this: “I have been depriving myself of Baldur’s Gate 3 since patch 4 just to wait for them to add everything they will add and give time to modders so they cook more cool stuff. It’s been hard.” Since patch seven is adding a variety of new endings, it’s only natural to be hesitant to create another game, just in case you end up missing out on a new ending. After all, all your actions do have consequences and can dramatically impact the conclusion you get. It’s unlikely that your game will change dramatically after the update, and players should be fine to keep enjoying their adventure while still benefiting from the new endings. However, many are avoiding jumping in right now, either just to be safe, or to appreciate the game even more in the next update.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are breaking up with Astarion over horrible Dark Urge pet name – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are breaking up with Astarion over horrible Dark Urge pet name Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have always loved Astarion’s witty banter, but a questionable nickname in the Dark Urge storyline has many rethinking their romantic choices entirely. Astarion remains one of the most popular romanceable characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. But while he’s adored by many, the pale, morally ambiguous vampire spawns heated debates – especially if players choose to ascend him in Act 3, turning him into an absolute toxic nightmare. As if having a power-hungry vampire boyfriend wasn’t enough, players who take on the Dark Urge storyline are now being confronted with a new, equally ridiculous dilemma: Astarion’s new pet name for them. The Dark Urge origin allows players to embrace their inner villain, but nobody was prepared for Astarion’s attempt at a loving nickname: “Bhaal babe.” On Reddit, Baldur’s Gate 3 players found this both hilarious and disturbing. Several urged the original poster to send Astarion packing after the nickname. “I need you to stay at the camp for a while,” one commenter suggested. Another chimed in, “Just… just go to your tent and think about what you’ve done.” One witty player even joked, “kicks him in the bhaals,” because what else can you do when faced with such an insult from your partner? Players also noticed Shadowheart’s animated disapproval, her face practically screaming, “Did I hear that right?” – a sentiment many players seemed to share. So far, nothing can top this vampire’s iconic “darling,” so perhaps he should just stick to that. And as if the Dark Urge chaos wasn’t enough, Patch 7 has added new cutscenes for evil endings. Yet, to fans’ dismay, it painfully confirmed what many feared: Alfira, the beloved bard, won’t stick around as a permanent companion.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are already plotting how to break Patch 7 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are already plotting how to break Patch 7 Larian StudiosOne major Alfira change in Baldur’s Gate 3’s upcoming Patch 7 has players already plotting ways to make the Bard a permanent party member. Larian Studios has revealed more details on Patch 7, which will be released in September. In addition to significant new features like official modding tools, the ability to use mods on console, and incredibly dark evil ending cinematics, the update is set to make various other gameplay changes. Among them is this tease: “We may have also let a certain bard now join the party as a controllable character if there’s an empty slot, temporarily, of course.” The wording – and emphasis on “temporarily” – make it pretty obvious the devs are referring to Alfira. The tiefling Bard appears no matter who you play as, but she plays a particularly gruesome role in the Dark Urge’s storyline. Alfira’s design and status as a Bard, a class that goes unrepresented by Baldur’s Gate 3’s companions, have led many players to argue that she should have been a companion. All this has some hoping for glitches, exploits, or even mods that will make Alfira a permanent party member post-Patch 7. In a Reddit post discussing Larian’s community update, players celebrated the news that Alfira will become a companion, even if it’s just temporary. Others also considered ways to make it permanent. “I’m giving it 3 days before glitchers figure out how to keep her in the party permanently. Larian may as well add dialogue and quests for her ahaha,” joked one player, referencing the Baldur’s Gate 3 community’s well-documented knack for finding exploits. “Step 1: Turn Alfira into a sheep,” said another, referencing an early method for recruiting Minthara on a non-evil playthrough that many players used before Patch 5 made that easier. There is actually already a way to spare Alfira’s life as the Dark Urge that involves knocking her out so she can’t come to your Camp, a choice the game does acknowledge through a letter during the epilogue party. That has players wondering if they’ll be able to trick the game into letting Alfira stick around, especially since datamines indicate she was once planned as a party member. At the very least, Alfira fans hope that modders will be able to make her a permanent companion, with one pointing out that “the framework for an Alfira companion is in the game.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players are accidentally completing the game without key companions – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players are accidentally completing the game without key companions Larian StudiosIt turns out that some Baldur’s Gate 3 players are accidentally completing the game without ever encountering main companions. This revelation came to light when a Reddit user shared their experience of finishing the game without ever finding Lae’zel, a central character, in a post titled “I beat the entire game without Lae’zel.” The user explained, “No, I don’t just mean I never used her in my party – I never found her. Somehow, in some way, I explored every inch of Act 1 except the area where she’s been caged up. I am very stupid.” Lae’zel’s absence from this player’s journey is particularly surprising given that she is one of the first companions players typically encounter. However, the sprawling nature of Act 1 and the various locations where companions can be found make it plausible for players to miss them. For instance, after the Nautiloid’s crash, Lae’zel finds herself in a predicament near the Grove, and players need to explore thoroughly to decide her fate. Other players have shared similar experiences, especially with Gale. Some players saw the “unstable portal” and decided to avoid it, while others intended to return later but never did. One player recounted failing to rescue Gale, expecting him to appear elsewhere, only to realize that wasn’t the case. Others shared their unique encounters, like one who missed out on recruiting Wyll simply because they didn’t want to interrupt Wyll’s training session with a child. With ten distinct companions, each with unique personalities and specialties, players have many choices in Baldur’s Gate 3 when it comes to choosing a party. From the charismatic Astarion to the powerful Lae’zel, there are plenty of possibilities. The game’s design allows for such varied experiences, but some characters, such as Shadowheart, will appear at different points based on player actions and therefore can’t be missed. Whether players find every companion or miss out on some, Baldur’s Gate 3 promises a unique journey for everyone.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players applaud “most satisfying” spell in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players applaud “most satisfying” spell in the game Baldur’s Gate 3The Baldur’s Gate 3 community is taking the time to pay respects to the spell that feels the best to use while playing. Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of spells that players can use at any point to damage enemies, get to a new location, or find a way to an object they want to pick up. Some of these are rather dull and are just there to serve the most basic of actions, but there are a select few that have stuck out the most to the fans. One of these spells, Spirit Guardians, has emerged as a fan-favorite, not for its power, but for the satisfaction people feel when using it. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans love Spirit Guardians The spell is receiving its acclaim on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, where a player posts: “SO. F*ING. SASTISFYING.” They go on to say that while Spirit Guardians isn’t the best spell in the game, it is their favorite, going so far as to call it their “bread n’ butter.” The community agrees with this sentiment as well, with one user saying: “Spirit Guardians is easily a Top 10 Spell. In BG3 and in 5e.” Other users take the time to mention all the situations in which the spell has come in huge for them: “Even more satisfying is using Spirit Guardians against the rats in the Elfsong basement. Just cast it once, stand there, and let them all suicide lol.” One Baldur’s Gate 3 player says they have crafted a Shadowheart build around the spell entirely and they keep her with their party at all times. “I literally just equip her with as many movement + momentum equipment and buffs as possible and then as many damage riders/status effects as possible on top of that, and just have her run around. She’s a one-man army.” People love Spirit Guardians so much, that some would even argue that it is, in fact, the best spell in the game, purely thanks to its cost to use. Whether or not it can be given that label of “best spell,” it is clear that the Baldur’s Gate 3 community has a special place in their heart for Spirit Guardians.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players appalled by dev death threats over mod support – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players appalled by dev death threats over mod support Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is disgusted by some fan members sending death threats to the devs over the game’s mod support. The devs behind Baldur’s Gate 3 recently announced that mod support would be coming to the massively popular RPG. While most of the player base was elated by the news, a vocal minority appears to have gone too far in their criticisms of lackluster mod support, resulting in Larian asking them to stop making death threats. In response, the greater Baldur’s Gate 3 community has expressed their disgust in these fans and have spoken out in defense of the devs online. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans abhor death threats being sent to devs The reveal of death threats being made towards the Baldur’s Gate 3 devs came in a series of tweets by Larian’s Director of Publishing, Michael Douse. While discussing when they would be giving more information about the upcoming mod support, Spouse mentions: “Threats & toxicity against our devs & community teams will only harm the conversation. Please stop that.” We’ll be talking in depth about what our mod support will look like soon. Been working on it since launch. As always, we’ll discuss it in our way with our community. Threats & toxicity against our devs & community teams will only harm the conversation. Please stop that. — Very AFK (@Cromwelp) February 25, 2024 The response to this by the community has been one of revulsion and embarrassment for their members to be sending these threats. Over on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, the fans are coming together to support the devs and speak out against this kind of behavior. “They were raised wrong and incorrectly believe they’re anonymous and that digital footprints aren’t real.” It appears that a majority of the threats are being sent as a result of the latest updates and patches breaking mods for the game, forcing players to uninstall them. “Been a lot of drama over Patch 6 breaking mods and Larian’s discord server going off the rails. Suffice to say, whenever there’s any community backlash, some people will invariably take things too far because psychos always find a way.” Many fans are concerned that this kind of action will result in the community becoming more negative overall, resulting in more “insufferable weirdos.” Unfortunately, as one user points out, a game as massive and successful as Baldur’s Gate 3 will always have a huge playerbase, which means “it’s gonna have insufferable weirdos.” The entire situation is horrible, and it’s at least affirming to see the greater chunk of the community coming to speak out against these threats.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players amazed by depth of Karlach romance dialogue – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players amazed by depth of Karlach romance dialogue Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 fan was surprised to discover Karlach’s surprisingly detailed reactions to them flirting with other companions. Karlach sometimes displays a fourth wall breaking degree of perception. So, if you’re messing around with another one of your Baldur’s Gate 3 companions while romancing her, she’s bound to notice. Unfortunately, while things may be heating up between you and Karlach, the power of her Infernal Engine makes physical intimacy a no-go. As a result, she’s happy for you to explore your options until she can be cooled. However, that doesn’t mean she won’t have something sassy to say about it. Baldur’s Gate 3 fan stunned by in-depth Karlach romance moment One Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared an example of this on r/BaldursGate3. The poster explained how “shocked” they were by the number of variations in the game’s dialogue. The interaction was triggered when the player chucked a bottle of water at Karlach. The action cooled her down long enough for the two to share a quick kiss. However, this was only a temporary solution as the player had yet to seek Infernal Engine repairs from Dammon. While she’s not wholly open to polygamy, in this scene, Karlach expressed that she doesn’t mind “sharing”. This was a surprising agreement, but what really took the player aback was the unique nicknames Karlach used to refer to each of the companions. As the Redditor was sharing flirty interaction with Gale, Karlach cosigned them hooking up with the “bookworm.” Commenters who were wooing Lae’zel were told they were free to enjoy the affections of the “angry alien.” “If you’re in-between her and Astarion, she says something like ‘go ahead and have fun with the pretty man’ so cute it’s personalized to each companion”, said another player. Meanwhile, Shadowheart’s blunt bangs earn her the supremely silly moniker of “hairdo girl.” Players expressed appreciation for this minute detail, with one saying, “It made me chuckle a little in disbelief, honestly. Larian has thought of everything pretty much.”

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players amazed by crucial hygiene tip uncovered 2 months after launch – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players amazed by crucial hygiene tip uncovered 2 months after launch Larian StudiosTwo months after its initial release a Baldur’s Gate fan has only just discovered a small detail of the game that allows players to cleanse themselves of dirt and blood using water. And while the initial Reddit poster expressed their excitement at the findings, fellow players were quick to poke fun at the situation. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the biggest surprise hits of 2023. The immersive RPG allows players to fully dive into the world. After a successful launch on PC, the game has now made its way over to the PlayStation 5, allowing console players to also dive in and enjoy the experience. While the fantasy is one of the biggest draw cards of the game, fans have also fallen in love with the game’s attention to detail. However, while some players have hailed these details, others simply think they are almost an expectation for a game as large and expansive as Baldur’s Gate 3. One Baldur’s Gate 3 player just posted their most recent findings on Reddit, stating, “You know how you are always super bloody after a fight? Stand under a waterfall and shower and you look clean! I discovered that yesterday and don’t know if everyone already knew that but I want EVERYONE to know!” Fellow players were quick to respond to the post. However, rather than everyone being supportive or excited for the player’s discovery, many instead began listing all the different ways you can clean your player in-game. One user wrote, “The title of this thread, seeing it in my feed, read almost like “You know, you can go outside you f**king loser?” Others also added, “I probably should take a shower out of game too when I am gaming” and “If ever a game needed to remind me to take a shower, it’s Baldur’s Gate 3. While it’s at it, I’d like a reminder to cook food and go to bed.” Regardless of the amusing response to the Reddit post, the idea that such a small detail has now bubbled up to the surface goes to show the devs left no stone unturned when bringing BG3 to life. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players already planning to cheese Patch 7 update – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players already planning to cheese Patch 7 update larian studiosIt’ll still be a while before Baldur’s Gate 3’s Patch 7 drops, but players are already planning to cheese this particular part of the game. So far, it’s been revealed that Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is going to be massive, thanks to official mod support for both PC and consoles, bug fixes, new legendary actions, evil endings, and so much more. But among these additions to the game, there’s a change that quickly caught the community’s attention, and that’s none other than the one that involves the Faith Leap trial in Gauntlet of Shar. For a while now, players could cheese the trial by clicking the final platform, triggering the auto-path that lets your character walk on the hidden path. And while that won’t be the case any longer in the upcoming patch, Baldur’s Gate 3 players have already gathered in a Reddit thread titled “Brightness to 100% and let’s gooo” to discuss tricks to bypass the frustrating trial. “Knock on the final door it is then,” commented one user, referring to how you could just bust the last door without getting all the gems from the trials. This trick has been around in the community for a while, and assuming it won’t be patched out, it’s likely to be still viable. “Misty step [plus] warlock who can see in the dark should still work for cheesing,” suggested one user. Meanwhile, another user wrote: “Turn Halsin into a crow and just flutter your precious [little] wings over there.” “Laughs in potion of flying,” another chimed in. Some of the replies in the thread even straight out included a detailed map of the pathing in the Faith Leap trial that players can just look at while they navigate in the dark. While it’ll still be a while until Patch 7 drops, it’ll be interesting to see how the new additions will affect the game.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players all agree this is the worst part about Shadowheart – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players all agree this is the worst part about Shadowheart Larian StudiosShadowheart is one of the most popular companions in Baldur’s Gate 3, with thousands of players looking to fall in love with her, make friends, or just explore her expansive quest – but she’s far from perfect. In fact, despite the knowledge that tons of players willingly fall in love with the adorable misled Cleric, many just can’t get over one vital aspect about her looks, even though it’s a key hint to her backstory and arc as a whole. There’s plenty that defines Shadowheart, her original armor, her elven looks, and of course her magnetic personality. Then there’s her original black hair design. At best, it looks like a bob from the front with a plait down the side, at worst, it frames her face terribly and is the main gripe of thousands of Baldur’s Gate 3 players. In fact, it’s so hated that fans are sharing their dislike on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, claiming that “the old hair style was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.” Upon sharing their opinion, thousands of fans upvoted the post, and hundreds took to the comments to share their own hatred. “Those bangs are a crime against elves and humans” joked one player in the comments, while another claimed a small glitch was the primary reason behind the unpopular design: “Her original hairstyle is painful to look at, especially when it’s clipping with her circlet.” Other players were quick to share another primary issue with the first hairstyle, explaining that “Her bangs with the amount of side hair makes it look like she has a helmet on.” Sure, Shadowheart is an extremely popular character, and thousands of players quickly fall in love with her when they first meet, but it’s safe to say multiple players will go down the Selune path just to get rid of her questionable hairstyle. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore this surprise romance in Act 2 – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore this surprise romance in Act 2 Larian StudiosDespite everything going on in the world of Baldur’s Gate, some people have still managed to find time to find that special someone. It’s pretty easy if you’re the main character. Almost every companion you meet will immediately be interested in you if you so much as sneeze near them, and provided you don’t mess up the dialogue or the dates, securing a partner for the rest of the game is pretty easy. However, relationships between other NPCs are few and far between in Baldur’s Gate 3. The end of the world and particularly the horror setting of Act 2 doesn’t really make for the most romantic of places. Which is why the relationship between Aylin and Isobel in Act 2 took so many players by surprise. Who knew that the Nightsong you were hunting since the beginning of the game was actually the immortal girlfriend of the daughter of the main antagonist? It’s a small world. Baldur’s Gate 3 players surprised by Isobel and Aylin’s romance That’s what it was like for one player, who took to the official Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit to discuss “the love story I didn’t know I wanted”. “I wasn’t really aware of the relationship between Isobel and Aylin so I was very pleasantly caught off guard by this one. Go get you sum Aylin!!! After centuries I would be thirsty too.” A lot of things need to go right in order to see Isobel and Aylin together safely. First, you need to make sure that Aylin is freed and survives the Gauntlet of Shar in Act 2, which can be very tricky if you’re committed to whatever Shadowheart wants to do. Then you have to make sure the same thing happens with Isobel, which can be hard to do if she was kidnapped at the beginning of the act. After they’re reunited, they’ll join your camp permanently, and they make a very cute couple. We just have to ignore the problematic age gap. • Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore playing a Warlock with one key companion – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore playing a Warlock with one key companion Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players can’t seem to get over how funny it can be when playing as a Warlock with one key companion. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 is so versatile and open to many different player decisions, it’s impossible to not have a few ironic moments in the game. For example, when you’re playing as a Wizard with Gale, the two are bound to clash slightly, unless you change Gale’s class to a Wild Magic Barbarian, which is a guaranteed laugh. However, as one player has pointed out, there are few elements that are as ironic as when you’re playing a Warlock and choose to dive into Wyll’s storyline, particularly when focusing on his rather questionable patron. Baldur’s Gate 3 players think Warlocks match perfectly with Wyll Sharing the irony on Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit, one user explained how “playing a Warlock makes Wyll’s predicament so funny”. They went on to offer a brief example of how such irony gets played out: “Mizora: ‘Wyll, you broke clause eighteen subsection three, time to be tortured for eternity!’ Tav’s fiend patron: ‘Lmao you should tell that guy to kill himself trust me it’ll be hilarious, here’s an advantage on the roll” Having a patron as mean as Mizora sounds pretty tricky, so it’s always funny when Tav’s patron is so calm and kind. Many other players were quick to highlight the irony and hilarity behind the matching classes. One jumped into the comments, highlighting how their “favorite part is that you can berate Wyll for taking a warlock pact as a warlock yourself.” Others joked that the “jokes on Wyll, Withers can free me from my pact at any time.” While it’s certainly not that easy for Wyll, he should probably still talk to Withers, just in case. One fan highlighted how important it is to have that ironic combination, explaining how “It’s especially funny because Wyll’s pact, in particular, is so one-sided due to the devs making it more akin to a standard devil deal than a warlock pact. As when you have your pact from your patron act much closer to the norm it just shows how screwed up Wylls pact is.” If anything, the easier time Tavs have with their pact only shows how twisted Wyll and Mizora’s relationship really is, so maybe this irony actually poses a key part of the expansive story?

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore Halsin’s “healthy” approach to romance – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players adore Halsin’s “healthy” approach to romance Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 fans are in love with how the character of Halsin approaches romance in the game, exhibiting kindness, respect, and patience. There are a lot of options for romance in Baldur’s Gate 3, and the game’s community loves discussing who they pursue and why. Certain characters have even emerged as fan favorites since their personalities and complexities ensure they stand out from the rest of the cast. And now, fans are highlighting Halsin, specifically complimenting his respectful and kind approach to pursuing romance. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans appreciate Halsin’s attitude about romance The admiration for Halsin can be seen on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit in a post titled: “Halsin’s way of leaving the Friendzone.” The post goes on to explain how respectful Halsin is when approaching characters about possible romances, sharing a screenshot of this scenario. “He clearly states his attraction to you, states signals he got from you that you might be interested as well. Clearly states his intention to be more than friends, but elegantly leaves the door open to friendship by saying the matter can rest if you are not interested.” The community is supportive of this sentiment as well, with many players stating that this is a big reason as to why Halsin is one of their favorite characters in Baldur’s Gate 3. “Yes, that’s why he is my 2nd favourite… He has an incredibly healthy way of approaching relationships. He says how he feels without any pressure, manipulation, or expectations,” wrote one person. One user evens mentions how their trauma surrounding both receiving and giving rejection has caused an emotional bond to form with Halsin, calling him a “gentle king” in the way he approaches matters of the heart. Even a player who finds part of this approach offputting (since this happens even if you don’t pursue him) admits that his straightforwardness is refreshing. They also compliment his ability to handle rejection well. This is just another example of how the complexity of the characters might just be Baldur’s Gate 3’s greatest strength.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players address infamous Gortash description – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players address infamous Gortash description Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 has a plethora of characters and sometimes their looks do not match with their description. One such character is Gortash and players decided to address his infamous description in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most diverse games that you can pick and play on account of the content it offers. One of the biggest draws of the game is the various characters that you can interact with during your journey. One such character you will come across is Gortash, but his looks and in-game description do not match by any means. Therefore, players decided to discuss the reason behind why there is a disparity between the two. Baldur’s Gate 3 players hilariously explain misleading Gortash description. The discussion surrounding the topic was initiated by a Reddit user who posted an image of Gortash and stated, “THIS is the “handsome young man with an easy smile”??” Naturally, it was sarcasm since Gortash does not look very young. However, other players joined the discussion as they had ideas on why Gortash looked the way he did. One such user commented, “Dealing with Orin for prolonged periods of time has that effect on people.” Another user chimed in, “Orin, you can’t kill that person. Orin stop impersonating everybody you see. No Orin we can’t take this homeless gnome to the temple of Bhaal to sacrifice him.” One user also mentioned, “weirdest bait and switch of the game. like, was he originally younger/handsomer? did the narrator lie to us? why does extremely minor villain Nere have more swag?” Finally, one of the players claimed, “He’s actually like 20 years old he’s just aged an extra 20 in the last 2 months.” Therefore, it seems like dealing with Orin has made Gortash look older since it is a monumental task that he has undertaken. However, some of the Reddit users also suggested that Gortash is a con man and it is in his nature to misguide others.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players actually like the most annoying conversation in the game – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players actually like the most annoying conversation in the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have shown their respect for one of the most frustrating interactions in the game, which is so detailed that it’s impressive- in a very annoying way. The NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3 are some of the most complex and detailed we’ve ever seen. The care Larian Studios put into making even the most random side characters is impressive, and it’s a big part of why the world feels so immersive. And that’s before we even start on all the Speak with Dead interactions. Not all NPCs are born equal though. A lot of people have their favorites, with characters like Alfira being so popular some players wanted her to be an Origin character. And then there’s the inverse; the characters that everyone loves to hate. If you managed to make it all the way to Act 3, you’ll know by now that one of the worst in Naaber, the “would-be adventurer”. Baldur’s Gate 3 players show respect for worst NPC in the game Naaber is what happens when Larian use their writing skills for evil. His dialogue tree is one of the longest in the game, with each line more frustrating than the last. Add in some perfectly nauseous voice acting, and you’ve got a perfect storm of frustration. Considering all this, it’s not surprising that quite a few players have tried to kill Naaber, to varying degrees of success. However, one player was surprised by how far Larian went to expand on his dialogue, because he has custom lines depending on how you try to kill him. The player said: “The fact that Larian actually went out of their way to make this guy annoying as possible with dialogue specific to how you attempt to kill him made me love this game 1000x more.” They also posted a clip with one of the lines, which meant Larian predicted that players would try and push the NPC off of the edge and into the water to try and drown him.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 players accuse Patch 6 of turning game into “bug city” – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 players accuse Patch 6 of turning game into “bug city” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are reporting a litany of Bugs following the launch of Patch 6. Not the cool Helldivers type either. Baldur’s Gate 3 recently received a big upgrade with the launch of Patch 6. While the most hyped feature announced in the patch was the new kissing animations, there’s more to it than that. Players leaped to praise the new quality-of-life changes that came via Patch 6 including new party management options and better UI for the inventory. Unfortunately, not all of the new additions of Baldur’s Gate 3’s newest patch are positive. Reddit user u/Cygerstorm took to the Baldur’s Gate 3 Subreddit with a laundry list of bugs they’d experienced in their Honor Mode run since Patch 6 dropped. Other players were quick to chime in with their own experiences so far. u/Cygerstorm listed a total of 14 bugs they’d encountered so far calling their Honor Mode run an “apocalypse” and saying the game had become “bug city”. Notable problems included various enemies and friends acting out of character including some clumsiness from Whithers. “Withers rose from his tomb, slipped on grease from skeleton fight then aggroed and killed my party,” they elaborated. “We took a vote and decided that you would experience all of the weird bugs so the rest of us could play honor mode smoothly,” another player responded jokingly. In the comments of the post, more Baldur’s Gate 3 adventurers have come out of the woodwork to report their own bugs. One of the worst is an issue in which the game’s vendors are entirely unavailable. “Their items disappear and their gold is set to 0. Swapping to a different character and swapping back during the interaction can potentially fix it,” one user explained. “Others have reported saving and quitting can fix the issue but in my case, it bricked my Honor Mode save.” It’s certainly a bit of a dampener on a patch that has been so well received for its intended changes. Hopefully, the team at Larian can cook up a hotfix that takes care of some of them.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player wracked with guilt over “dirty” Honor Mode clear – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player wracked with guilt over “dirty” Honor Mode clear Larian StudiosA Baldur’s Gate 3 player feels like they’ve taken the easy way out to finish their Honor Mode run. To be fair, some luck and effort were still required. Baldur’s Gate 3’s Honor Mode ups the challenge of the game to eleven with tougher encounters and permadeath to boot. It can be a grueling endeavor and it’s led to some satisfying victories and heartbreaking defeats. We’ve seen instances where players have tripped over the finish line 80 hours in, moments where Scratch ends runs with a game of fetch, and a player shooting themselves in the foot by opting to become a sex slave. Succeeding in Baldur’s Gate 3’s Honor Mode is usually a cause for celebration but Reddit user u/itsthelee is feeling a little guilty over their clear. They did opt for a quick out to get the Foehammer achievement but there was still some teeth clenching involved. u/itsthelee took what some consider to be the easy way out of an Honor Mode run which is of course blowing up Gale. Things seemed to be going well but some unknown failure in their setup caused Gale to be a little less tractable than they would have liked. “In the end, I have a DC 25 Persuade check on a mainchar with 8 charisma. Even with Guidance, I can only succeed on a crit success. I only have one inspiration,” explained u/itsthelee. Through some minor prep and some major luck, they managed to hit the critical success and win their golden dice. “After seeing so many posts of people trying and failing to get honor mode, this felt real dirty,” they admitted. Bailing on the final fight wasn’t sitting right with them but fortunately, Baldur’s Gate 3 players are an understanding lot. “I don’t think you should feel guilty. So many have lost their Honor runs because of sheer, dumb luck that I think it’s equally fair to win by luck,” one player offered. “If it’s valid enough to lose to bad luck, the opposite should also be true.” We’re in the camp that a win is a win and that Foehammer achievement and those shiny golden dice won’t shine any less bright. There might be some debate as to whether trading Gale’s life for an accessory is truly as honorable as the game mode suggests though.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player warns others after being “traumatized” by unsuspecting enemy – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player warns others after being “traumatized” by unsuspecting enemy Larian StudiosOne Baldur’s Gate 3 player is warning other fans to avoid one unsuspecting enemy after their party was “traumatized” by the battle. The main bosses of Baldur’s Gate 3 are pretty obvious, with the likes of Kethric, Orin, and Gortash cementing themselves soon into the game – and while they’re fun to take on and prepare for, some of the best boss battles are those you don’t expect. In fact, some of the most enjoyable fights are the unpredictable ones, even if they can prove to be a little more powerful than many expect. This is exactly what one player came across, and they’re now warning the rest of the community to steer clear. Baldur’s Gate 3 players “traumatized” by simple enemy Sharing their warning on Reddit, one user revealed how “a frog traumatized me” after they chose to battle the animal near Ethel’s side of the region. “I was chilling exploring and looting while I interacted with the frog trying to befriend her, next thing you know Lae Zel and Shadowheart get blasted for 37 damage and they had 20 and managed to kill my friend’s Tav” revealed the player, referring to the Addled Frog you come across near Ethe. To make matters worse the player was on Honour Mode, thankfully they managed to take the frog down, but not without being “traumatized” by its unsuspecting power. “That frog is f***ing terrifying” commented one user, who’s clearly had the same kind of traumatic experience. Another shared their battle with the frog, adding how they got around the fight the second time around: “That frog rocked my shit too. I made friends with it next run.” They weren’t the only player that almost suffered the same fate as the player: “That f***er almost ruined my honor play through too.” Thankfully, one user shared a key technique to get the most out of the evil animal: “If you back off when the narration suggests there is Something Wrong With It and then come back after defeating the hag, it will lead you to treasure and thank you adorably.” If you’re going near Ethel, be sure to be careful around everything you speak to, you never know how powerful they might be.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 player warns of “secret death trap” in Honour Mode – Dexerto

Baldur’s Gate 3 player warns of “secret death trap” in Honour Mode Larian StudiosNow that Honour Mode is in Baldur’s Gate 3, players will have to be pretty careful when heading into battle – especially when they come across this “secret death trap.” While Honour Mode is an exciting new addition to Baldur’s Gate after its fifth major patch, it does introduce some brand-new challenges, particularly in battle. After all, just simply save-scumming or accepting death isn’t as easy, and will come with consequences. So, when one player warned the community about a “secret death trap” they’d come across, it made complete sense that the playerbase would take heed. After all, no one wants to go through the unfortunate series of events this player experienced. Baldur’s Gate 3 player warns of “secret death trap” in Waukeen’s Rest Sharing their unlucky experience on Reddit, one user warned players by explaining how “Waukeen’s Rest is a Secret Death Trap in Honour Mode.” They then revealed how this location became so deadly: So I was beating up some gnolls when I saw Waukeen’s Rest burning in a corner and thought “Why not, there’s some good loot there.” Cut to me trying to break down the door to save Counsellor Florrick. Lae’zel could have easily done it with one hit but I didn’t want to risk burning the place down with her flaming sword. So instead all my companions were just taking turns chipping away at the 25+ hp door.” Surely simply hitting a door can’t cause any real issues? However, it’s not the door that nearly wiped out this party. Instead, as “Wyll was about to land the finishing blow, like a vindictive DM that had just learned how to DM, the blast misses and hits a Flaming Fist standing on a DIFFERENT floor. Yup, there were hidden holes in the floor. Cue the entire building getting aggro’ed.” Naturally, most players would reload in this situation, but since it was Honour Mode, that wasn’t possible, meaning the player was trapped inside a burning building while being attacked by everyone on the map. Luckily, the player attempted to escape: “I look to my right and see beyond a broken door on the balcony. Like a bunch of rejects from a James Bond movie, my surviving party members make it a mission to escape from the window. Wyll breaks the door down before going down himself. My sorcerer spends a turn jumping through the remains of the broken door before misty stepping off the ledge and making a break for it. Lae’zel casts Enhanced Leap and super jumps like a flying squirrel after him.” Then in a rather fortunate turn of events, “Right as I click the ‘Flee Combat’ button, the game crashes. My last save is before Waukeen’s rest. This time, Lae’zel just broke down the damn door.” Sure, on a good day where the dice and ‘DM’ aren’t against you, Waukeen’s rest could be a great place to explore, but just be careful when throwing any stray spells or attacks, or you may just ruin your Honour mode run.
