Baldur’s Gate 3 dev debunks Astarion actor’s statement about hours of hidden content Larian StudiosAfter an old clip of Astarion actor Neil Newbon went viral, Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios clarified what he was referring to, debunking rumors that there’s hours of undiscovered content in the game. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game with near infinite choices and consequences for just about any decision a player makes. Developer Larian Studios has included 17,000 possible endings, so it’s not surprising that there are still things players haven’t seen yet. After a clip of Astarion actor Neil Newbon went viral, fans began looking for a large chunk of “secret” content that players supposedly missed. This prompted a response from Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios, who clarified that the clip was weeks old and players have in fact found the quest and dialogue in question. Note, spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 2 to follow. Astarion actor Neil Newbon was referring to Blood of Lathander side-quest During one of his regular Twitch streams in which he signs autographs and answers fan questions, Astarion actor Neil Newbon teased the existence of a section of the game that players can only access by doing something very specific. While discussing the sheer size of the game and how much content there is that players are bound to miss during a single playthrough, Newbon mentioned there’s about “two hours of content” that no one has found yet. At the time Newbon couldn’t provide any details or hints – including whether the sequence even involves Astarion – saying he was “told this in confidence” and he thinks he is “one of the few people who knows about it.” While the stream took place close to the game’s launch, the clip really started gaining traction recently. With so much speculation as to what Newbon was referring to, Larian has confirmed that it has already been found. In a statement shared with GamesRadar+, Larian said: “Neil’s comments were from a signing he did closer to the launch of the game, and he was being secretive in order to avoid spoilers. Players have since found the quest and the lines of dialogue he was talking about. Spoilers ahead! “There’s a quest off the beaten path at the Rosymorn Monastery that rewards you with a nice mace called the Blood of Lathander. If you’re not careful or you try to steal the mace, you may activate a terrifying solar weapon. “If you (intentionally or unintentionally) kill Astarion with this solar weapon and then revive him once you’re back at camp, he… will have some choice words for you.” Those “choice words” have actually been circulating for about a month now. At the time they were found, players praised the bizarrely specific scene and Newbon’s “perfectly unhinged line readings.” While there may not be hours of content the way fans thought, there’s certainly still much to uncover in Baldur’s Gate 3. With a game of this size, players will undoubtedly be finding hidden details, creative solutions, and more for years to come. Baldur’s Gate 3 players divided on whether Aradin deserves sympathy – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3 players divided on whether Aradin deserves sympathy Larian StudiosThe Baldur’s Gate 3 community is divided over whether or not the character Aradin deserves their sympathy. Aradin counts among the most divisive NPCs in BG3. Players encounter the character in Act 1, where he and his crew face off against a band of goblins in Druid Grove. Depending on how things play out, the adventurer may appear once again in Act 3. The divisiveness stems from several points of contention. Some players can’t ignore his prejudice when it comes to the Tieflings. Others think he’s too self-serving to be a good leader. However, there are also BG3 players who view Aradin and his band of mercs as in over their heads. This thinking especially applies to a certain story outcome that doesn’t end well for those in Aradin’s circle. The Baldur’s Gate 3 community isn’t sure what to think of Aradin A Reddit user recently shared a Baldur’s Gate 3 screenshot of a scene that makes them question their opinion on the NPC in question. The screenshot pauses on a moment of regret for Aradin, where he notes that the Nightsong contract made no mention of a conflict with Goblins. Had he known what to expect, Aradin said he would’ve better prepared his crew. “Can’t believe I feel bad for this dude of all people,” the Redditor commented. A few other people chimed in to say they feel the same. One user put the situation into perspective by calling attention to the fact that the cards were stacked against Aradin from the start. “Imagine getting a Merc job at Baldur’s Gate. Nothing crazy, just find some artifact in an old temple. Bring the essentials, pack some gear, an able crew, and head off… Suddenly you’re caught in some Goblin Cult showdown between some Druids and Tiefling refugees, your Druid guide nowhere to be found and half your crew butchered.” Those who don’t meet Aradin in Baldur’s Gate 3’s third act seem more friendly towards him. One such response reads, “…I never told him where the Nightsong was. He’s a sympathetic dude imo. The man just lost a f—ton of buddies and the ones who did survive are really messed up.” However, many fans say they found Aradin less likable upon reuniting with him in Act 3. Wrote one Redditor, “Well, in Act 3 he may break into your hotel room and try to kill you in your sleep. At that point, I found him less relatable.” Another comment in the thread demonstrates just how deeply the Aradin disdain runs for some. “I f—ing hate Aradin and roll to punch him every time in the Emerald Grove after the fight at the gate. He’s bigoted towards Tieflings, and is ultimately the leader of a group that got themselves killed.” If nothing else, the differing opinions on Aradin demonstrate the strength of BG3’s award-winning storytelling.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s devastating Ansur reveal called best part of the game – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3’s devastating Ansur reveal called best part of the game Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players say the devastating outcome for the Legend of Ansur arc easily counts among the best parts of the game. While playing Baldur’s Gate 3, players learn of a hidden creature, a guardian who has long protected the realms. The questline related to this guardian, a dragon named Ansur, requires users to overcome several challenges. With the challenges complete, the goal centers on awakening the resting creature in hopes of receiving its aid. However, one player was so devastated upon reaching the dragon that they expressed their sorrow in a Reddit thread. The ensuing discussion quickly labeled the quest one of the RPG’s best parts. (Spoilers follow for Baldur’s Gate 3). Reddit user mont_thefont noted that they were eager to meet the dragon upon starting the Ansur Trials. They were disappointed to find the creature’s corpse instead. But what proved most devastating was learning that Ansur had once been the lover of Balduran, the Emperor the player had befriended. “Then after I’m forced to kill Ansur, I read how they were lovers. Ansur was trying to save Balduran’s soul from becoming Illithid (Mind Flayer), and Balduran kills him. I liked the Emperor at first, but how can you hide your true identity from me and then kill your dragon lover!” The Redditor said that while games don’t usually elicit strong emotions from them, they cried at Baldur’s Gate 3’s Ansur revelation. Others in the thread responded by calling the scene one of the game’s best. “Easily top 3 best parts of the game,” reads one comment with 1,400 upvotes. Several other people agreed that this particular lore reveal ranks in their top three favorite moments. Meanwhile, one user called the situation “doubly tragic.” Reads the comment, “Ansur tried to ‘mercy’ kill the Emperor after he told him to just fly away because there is no cure for ceremorphosis. It’s an absolutely tragic tale on both sides… It’s doubly tragic that barely anyone seems to sympathize with the both of them.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 players praise rare Amulet “too many people sleep on” – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3 players praise rare Amulet “too many people sleep on” Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3’s Amulet of Branding is finally getting love from players who believe “too many people sleep on” the rare magical item. Amulets in often play a vital role in a Baldur’s Gate 3 character build by augmenting their capabilities with various bonuses. Some Amulets appear in several “best” lists, with the Amulet of Greater Health, Amulet of The Devout, and the Spellcrux Amulet receiving the most recommendations. However, not all magic items receive their fair share of praise from the community. Players argue the Amulet of Branding counts as one such item, even though it offers bonuses that benefit multiple playstyles. Baldur’s Gate 3 players can loot the Amulet in question from A’jak’nir Jeera in the Creche. Equipping it unlocks the Brand of the Weak spell, which imposes vulnerability to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage types on an enemy for up to three turns. Gameplay footage shared by a Reddit user demonstrates the power of the Amulet of Branding, which is so effective that the player calls it their “new favorite item.” In subsequent comments, the Redditor said the Amulet “essentially doubles your outgoing damage.” However, another user pointed out that much of the damage dealt in the video stems from the Divine Smite spell. “Still, it gives you a lot, especially with Great Weapon Master and Luck of the Far Realms,” the person added. Still, other Baldur’s Gate 3 fans chimed in to sing the Amulet of Branding’s praises. According to one Redditor, “Too many people sleep on this item. It is so good.” Another user called the Amulet “fantastic for lining up big hits” and praised it as a solid choice for Rogue builds. While it may not get a lot of attention, it’s clear the Amulet of Branding is one magic item players shouldn’t overlook.

Baldur’s Gate 3: All races & subclasses available in official mods Larian StudiosMods are now officially part of Baldur’s Gate 3, and there are already new races and subclasses for you to use in your next playthrough. Patch 7 has introduced an official Mod Manager for Baldur’s Gate 3 with community-designed content and Larian curating the list. These are currently only available on PC, but they’re set to arrive on console and Mac in October. Baldur’s Gate 3 has all of the race and subclass options from the D&D Player’s Handbook, but fans have been aching to try stuff from other books. That being said, these are the ones that have been added via mods: All official playable race mods The Astral Elves mod lets you play as the Astral Plane sailors from the Spelljammer setting. They gain a bonus Cantrip, proficiency in Perception, and the ability to teleport at short range with their Starlight Step power. The Elemental Power – Genasi Race mod adds four options: Air Genasi, Earth Genasi, Fire Genasi, and Water Genasi. These are beings with ancestry traced to beings from the inner planes. Naturally, they are resistant to damage from their home planes and gain access to elemental spells as they level up. The Imp Race mod lets you play as a tiny winged devil from the Nine Hells. They can scratch enemies with their claws or scorch them with the Firebolt Cantrip. As they level up, they’ll gain access to the Blur and Invisibility spells, as well as the poison sting attack. The Kuo-Toa Playable Race mod lets you play as a freaky fish guy. They can clamp enemies with their crab claws, trap them with nets, and incite their allies into a blood rage. You can also pick the Kuo-Toa goddess, Blibdoolpoolp, as a deity. All official playable subclass mods The Celestial Warlock eschews the evil Patrons of the base subclasses, gaining power from the heavens. They gain the ability to heal allies, increase the damage from their Radiant spells, and add more fire and holy spells to their expanded list. The Warlock – The Remembrance subclass is all about mastering the secrets of a previous life. This includes the greater skill proficiencies of the Rogue with the extra spells of the College of Lore Bards. That’s all you need to know about Baldur’s Gate 3’s new subclasses and races added in mods. Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 3’s performance issues have a simple explanation – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3 Act 3’s performance issues have a simple explanation Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players have noticed that the game runs worse in Act 3, but the reason for this is actually quite straightforward. Larian Studios’ massive RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 is an undeniable hit that has transcended the often niche genre. However, the game does have its imperfections. Since launching earlier this month, many have noted that Baldur’s Gate 3’s performance slows down quite a bit in Act 3. While it makes sense that the full game isn’t quite as polished as the first act, which spent almost three years being publicly playtested in early access, players are reporting that their PCs are struggling with the last section of the game. This issue is obviously frustrating, but it does make a lot of sense. Baldur’s Gate 3’s third act lags behind the rest of the game simply because there’s so much more that needs to be processed. Act 3 is far more technically demanding than the rest of Baldur’s Gate 3 Unlike the rest of the game, which has players traveling through nature and some smaller settlements, Baldur’s Gate 3 takes place in the eponymous city. Both in-game and in Dungeons & Dragons lore, Baldur’s Gate is a huge, densely packed urban area that’s full of people. As reported by Digital Foundry, performance testing shows the increased number of NPCs on screen takes a greater toll on CPUs than the rest of the game. Even on high-end processors, this leads to a significant drop in quality, especially when transitioning into cutscenes and dialogue. Making Baldur’s Gate 3’s performance issues worse are the earthquakes that occur in the city during this part of the game. Unfortunately, there isn’t much players can do to improve this. Lowering the settings helps a bit, but there are still noticeable variations in frame time. While these issues don’t seem to be game-breaking, they are understandably frustrating. With the game launching on PlayStation 5 next month, it’ll be interesting to see how that console handles this part of the game. Until then, Baldur’s Gate 3 players will have to hope that Larian is able to smooth out Act 3’s performance in a future update.

Baldur’s Gate 3 player shocked by number of Steam users who completed Act 1 – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3 player shocked by number of Steam users who completed Act 1 Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 player is surprised by how much of the game’s Steam community has completed Act 1. Baldur’s Gate 3’s first act can last an incredibly long time if players choose to drag out the experience. One person spent 300 hours in Act 1, then learned that some of their actions had undesirable consequences later down the line. At least they were able to move on to the next chapter. Some players have yet to leave the starting section, either because they’re enjoying it too much or because they’ve walked away from the game entirely. A Steam user decided to check the game’s Achievements and, in so doing, realized how many people are missing out on BG3’s best moments. Baldur’s Gate 3 fans shocked more players haven’t finished Act 1 A BG3 player posted a screenshot on Reddit showing data tied to ‘The Plot Thickens’ Achievement on Steam. Notably, this Baldur’s Gate 3 Achievement is specifically awarded to those who complete the game’s first act. At the time the Redditor captured their screenshot, only 49% of the game’s Steam community had exited Act 1. The user captioned the photo with the following: “LESS THAN HALF??? Guys come on now.” Of course, it’s worth noting that the 49% figure isn’t representative of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Steam fan base as a whole. After all, many players probably started the RPG and don’t plan on returning. Others are likely taking their time; newcomers can’t be discounted, either. One newcomer explained their situation in the comments, “Lots of people bought the game over Christmas, sank 30 hours in, are still in Act 1, and now have no time to play (that’s me, I’m lots of people).” Someone else said they’ve logged 60 hours into Baldur’s Gate 3 but have yet to exit Act 1. Several other people chimed in to say that’s normal. Another person joked, “Remember, if you get through Act 1 in less than a thousand hours you’re rushing and have missed all the content.” It’ll be interesting to see how the numbers for ‘The Plot Thickens’ Achievement look in the coming months.

Highlights The full patch notes can be found here. Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 accidentally announced early for Xbox Game Pass – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 accidentally announced early for Xbox Game Pass BioWareXbox Game Pass users are receiving notifications announcing the impending arrival of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions on the service. Baldur’s Gate 3 was one of the biggest games of 2023, earning critical acclaim, achieving commercial success, and sweeping many award shows. Those who have finished their playthroughs of Baldur’s Gate 3 or are just waiting for a future sale might be interested in playing the first two entries in the series. After all, Baldur’s Gate 3 does feature characters from the original titles, even if they’re in smaller roles this time around. While Baldur’s Gate 3 might not be coming to Xbox Game Pass anytime soon, the same might not be true for the original games, which have received enhanced editions with controller support and updated visuals for modern systems. Baldur’s Gate I & II notifications are being sent to Xbox Game Pass subscribers As reported by True Achievements, people with the Xbox Game Pass app on their phones are receiving notifications telling them that Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions are coming to the service. As of the time of writing, the game collection is currently unavailable to download as part of any tier of Game Pass, but the store is currently in the process of adding unannounced titles, including Close to the Sun. The notification was likely sent out early as part of a larger Xbox Game Pass announcement that will be made later today, revealing the new titles that are coming to the service in January. While Baldur’s Gate 3 is an incredible game, fans shouldn’t sleep on the original entries in the series. Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 are also amazing games, and those who can overlook outdated design and gameplay elements will find an amazing journey that equals the one undertaken by Tav. You don’t need to play the old Baldur’s Gate games to enjoy Baldur’s Gate 3, as there is a century of time separating their events, so they don’t directly tie into each other outside of parts of the Dark Urge Background. The Bhaalspawn Saga is an epic unto itself, and if you haven’t played it before, then the Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass versions are the ideal way to experience it for yourself. Astarion’s voice actor is streaming their Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough in character – Dexerto
Astarion’s voice actor is streaming their Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough in character Larian StudiosThe voice actor for Astarion Neil Newbon has begun streaming their playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3, reprising his role and giving characters new voices in the process. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a monumental success. The RPG has skyrocketed to the top of the gaming world, with plenty of success and acclaim to its name. Not only does the game feature massive sprawling maps, in-depth quests, and plenty of companions to romance, but the sheer freedom players are given when playing is immense. Another attribute of Baldur’s Gate 3’s success is the fantastic work put in by the talented voice actors. The characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 are all brought to life with snarky personalities that players are absolutely adoring. Now community favorite Astarion will have a playthrough of his very own, as voice actor Neil Newbon has started a campaign where they voice them once more. Neil Newbon has been streaming their co-op playthrough with writer Tom de Ville on Twitch, and uploading various clips of the funny moments onto YouTube. Alongside the pair, Newbon has invited other voice actors like Amelia Tyler, who voices the narrator, and animation director Thierry Van Gyseghem to feature on the stream. For those looking to join in on the action, you can catch his stream when he’s live, or alternatively check out Neil’s YouTube channel where they’ve been uploading the VODs in multiple parts for those wanting to watch. Newbon is a prolific voice actor who has starred in several video games before jumping in as Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, including roles as Heisenberg in Resident Evil: Village and Isaac in Deliver Us Mars.

Astarion’s origin run in Baldur’s Gate 3 unlocks new ways to experience his story – Dexerto
Astarion’s origin run in Baldur’s Gate 3 unlocks new ways to experience his story Larian StudiosPlaying as the origin characters has never been quite as popular as creating a new Tav or a Dark Urge character in Baldur’s Gate 3, but there are definitely some narrative upsides to doing so. Playing as the origin characters saves you spending a couple of hours in the character creation screen, but it also means you have a bespoke story to uncover as you journey through the game. For Astarion, it revolves around his relationship with Cazador and the rest of his spawn, reaching a pinnacle in Act 3. Astarion has become the mascot of Baldur’s Gate 3 in all but name, being by far the most popular companion in the game, and the most recognisable face as well. And while many players might prefer to play as someone else so they can see his story unfold externally (or so they can romance him for the fifth time), there are definitely some upsides from exploring the story from his perspective. Larian Studios’ attention to detail is on full display here, because it turns out that if Astarion is kidnapped by spawn in Act 3, you can play through his escape from Cazador’s dungeon from his point of view, including an encounter with Godey the skeleton. One player detailed how this meant there were new options at the Cazador boss fight, because Astarion gets the chance to resist rather than getting sucked into the ritual. “It’s such a badass scene and a huge departure from the average playthrough where Astarion always loses his cool and gets sucked into the ritual circle. “At least as an Origin, he has so much strength, presence of mind, and sheer force of will. And how many players get to see it? I’m impressed. Larian really thought of everything.”

Astarion fans disappointed as Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 4 adds new romance bugs – Dexerto
Astarion fans disappointed as Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 4 adds new romance bugs Larian StudiosThe latest Baldur’s Gate 3 patch makes some changes to the game’s romances, and while Karlach and Halsin fans are celebrating, Astarion seems to be hit particularly hard by new bugs. Baldur’s Gate 3 just got a huge new patch on November 2 that makes some big changes to the game’s romances. Patch 4 makes some big changes, such as locking Lae’zel’s sex scene behind more than just high approval – a change that’s sure to impact the Sex% speedrunning community. On top of that, there are some improvements, like changes to kiss animations for Karlach and Halsin. However, the update introduces some new bugs that seem to have hit Astarion and his romance arc pretty hard. Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 4 has Karlach and Halsin fans celebrating as Astarion lovers lament bugs While Karlach and Halsin romancers are thrilled by Patch 4’s new and improved kissing animations, Astarion fans are reporting new frustration following the update. Players have reported bugs that cause his kiss not to play, as well as dialogue and animation issues. In fairness to Larian, this player’s issue may have been caused by mods. But even those who are able to trigger Astarion’s kiss animation after Patch 4 are expressing disappointment. As one player said, “It truly seems like with every kiss he’s about to break up with you and hates it, which for someone kissing him after his quest and after we admit our love for each other…. feels like such a bummer.” Astarion lovers are not alone, as Shadowheart fans are also reporting issues after the patch. Plus, Gale has been pretty buggy for a while, with new patches seeming to introduce more issues for the Wizard of Waterdeep. Fortunately, there is some good news. Dataminers have reportedly found that all romances were supposed to get improved kisses, plus a possible new hug option. It looks like Larian does intend to improve all companion relationships – romantic or platonic – so hopefully that will be sorted out with future patches and hotfixes. Asmongold hits out at trolls review bombing Baldur’s Gate 3 as it beats Zelda TotK – Dexerto
Asmongold hits out at trolls review bombing Baldur’s Gate 3 as it beats Zelda TotK Asmongold/Larian StudiosTwitch star Asmongold has hit out at people giving Baldur’s Gate 3 negative reviews to try and balance things out after it eclipsed Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Metacritic. Whenever a new game or new update, especially one as highly anticipated as Baldur’s Gate 3 releases, fans of the series are quick to put their review scores online – especially to places like Metacritic. Typically, these scores will be high right off the bat, before settling down a little bit. However, Larian Studios’ new RPG title has just been on fire. It’s beaten Zelda: Tear of the Kingdom’s score on Metacritic and currently sits with an incredible 97 out of 100 Metascore – as well as a 9.3 user score. Naturally, there have been some trolly reviews of lower scores to try and drag that down. There are a few fair 0’s from people that are annoyed by all the hype the game has received. And, well, they’ve caught the eye of Asmongold. Asmongold bashes “stupid” negative reviews of Baldur’s Gate 3 Unlike pretty much everyone else on Twitch, the OTK founder has been more focused on playing Diablo 4 than Baldur’s Gate, but he hasn’t been shy in hitting out at those people review bombing it. “People are giving it 0s to balance it out? Well yeah, of course, because they’re stupid,” Asmon said during his August 10 stream on his Zackrawrr channel. “Again, these are people that probably have -20k in gacha games. “So, whenever people start promoting games that don’t have microtransactions, it makes them feel a little bit stupid, so they have to spend money to feel smarter. Sorry, make fake reviews to feel smarter about spending money on a video game.” The scores aren’t just split into two factions – those scoring it high and those trying to drag it down – there are a fair few middle-of-the-road scores too. As it stands, Baldur’s Gate 3 is on to sweep Game of the Year awards, but there’s still plenty of time to go for that. But, clearly, fans are loving the fact it has no microtransactions like many other rivals.

Amazing Baldur’s Gate 3 mod has console players begging for access – Dexerto
Amazing Baldur’s Gate 3 mod has console players begging for access Larian StudiosPatch 7 is fast approaching, and Baldur’s Gate 3 console players badly want to experience the extra races and lineages provided by one fantastic mod. Baldur’s Gate 3 features all of the races and subraces from the D&D 5E Player’s Handbook, along with a few new options, such as the Githyanki. While a few of these are extraordinary, like the Dragonborn, most of the Baldur’s Gate 3 races are standard fantasy fare. This is a shame, as there’s cut content in Baldur’s Gate 3 that suggests more races were planned. These only exist as dialogue strings, suggesting they didn’t make it far in development or were intended for the DLC that’s not being made. Luckily, there’s a mod for the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3 that finishes the cut races and adds more. This is the Fantastical Multiverse mod by Dungeons and Souls, which is found on Nexus Mods. A thread on Reddit praises its content and hopes that it will come to consoles in the future. Fantastical Multiverse adds content from existing D&D books, letting you play races like the Astral Elf from Spelljammer, Bugbears, Kobolds, Genasi, Firbolg, and more. You can also make custom Lineages, giving you unparalleled customization over your character’s basic abilities. As Baldur’s Gate 3’s upcoming Patch 7 will add mod support, fans on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 want to see Fantastical Multiverse want to see it on consoles. “It’s my favorite mod in this game,” one user wrote, and continued, “Playing as a bugbear or a kobold is just so fun. It reminds me of why I like regular DnD so much (being able to play as something other than a human with pointy ears #642).” “Please be in PS5 too,” another user wrote, while one said, “The main reason I’m excited for mods coming to consoles is so I can finally be the kobold my Tav was always meant to be.” It’s unclear exactly what DLC will be available in the official Baldur’s Gate 3 mods. After all, Larian Studios will be curating them, and it’s possible that some of the content in Fantastical Mods won’t make the cut. Hopefully, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S fans will be able to experiment with more races once they’ve grown weary of conventionally attractive humans with slightly pointed ears. Though, knowing Baldur’s Gate 3 fans, that day may never come.

All Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin characters explained: Dark Urge, Astarion, Shadowheart & more – Dexerto
All Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin characters explained: Dark Urge, Astarion, Shadowheart & more Larian StudiosOrigin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 add an interesting dynamic to the game, each with unique advantages. Here’s what each of these characters brings to the table. While the Dungeons and Dragons-inspired game provides extensive options for character creation, including class and race selection, using a premade Origin character can be appealing for some. Thankfully, Origin characters serve that exact purpose, and they provide unique benefits to your Baldur’s Gate 3 experience if you decide to use them such as additional quests and lore. So, here’s everything you need to know about Origin characters in the game. What are Origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3? Origin characters are pre-designed builds you can choose when you’re in character creation. Instead of making one from scratch, you simply step into the shoes of these Origin characters and begin, using their stats, backstories, quests, motivations, and more. What makes Origin characters so wonderful is that you get exclusive quests, and are able to learn more about that character’s backstory, making it a perfect way to understand those companions a little better. On top of this, if your Origin character is recruited as a companion, their previous experiences will influence their opinion of your exploits and your relationship with said companions. All Baldur’s Gate 3 Origin characters There are seven Origin characters to choose from. If not selected, all can become Companions except the Dark Urge. We’ve listed all the companions and their classes below: Astarion: A High-Elf Rogue with a Charlatan background. He’s good at deception, sleight of hand, stealth, acrobatics, perception, performance, and persuasion. – Lae’zel: A Githyanki Fighter with a Soldier background. She is good at athletics, acrobatics, survival, and intimidation. Lae’zel can handle light, medium and heavy armor without trouble. – Gale: A Human Wizard with a Sage background. He’s good at Arcana history, investigation, insight, and persuasion. – Shadowheart: A High-Elf Cleric with an Acolyte background and Trickery subclass. She’s good at history, insight, medicine and religion. – Wyll: A Human Warlock with a Folk Hero background and the Fiend subclass. He’s good at animal handling, arcana, intimidation, persuasion and survival. – Karlach: A Zariel Tiefling Barbarian with an Outlander background. She’s good at athletics, intimidation, perception and survival. – The Dark Urge: This is the player’s choice. You can choose it to be whatever race, subrace, class or subclass you want, and even their look is customizable. However, the background will always be Haunted One, which makes them good at intimidation and medicine. – Those are all the Origin characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 and what they are all about. You can take a look at the voice cast for Baldur’s Gate 3 to see where you’ve heard them before. You can also check out the fastest ways to get XP & level up in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3: All companions, classes & where to find them – Dexerto
Baldur’s Gate 3: All companions, classes & where to find them Larian Studios/ DexertoBaldur’s Gate 3 features a lot of lovable companions who can join you on your journey through the Forgotten Realms, and we’ve got a breakdown of them all in this guide. Larian Studios’ game has ten companions, including six Origin characters. The remaining four companions are critical to your group’s dynamics and unfold at particular points in the narrative. Whether they’re Origin characters or otherwise, all the companions have a specific class as well as character-defining preferences and peeves, which sometimes include each other. So, here’s everything we know about the party members of Baldur’s Gate 3. Shadowheart Shadowheart is a High Half-elven Cleric of Shar. Her dedication to the neutral-evil goddess of darkness and the night allows her to use illusion and manipulation magic on top of the standard Cleric arsenal. While she starts with the Trickery Domain, you can switch her to something better (like Tempest) using the magic mirror in the Camp. Shadowheart is the first character you can recruit after the tutorial. Once you wake up after the Nautiloid crash, you’ll find her passed out in the area beyond where you fell. Simply wake her up and ask her to join your party. Astarion Astarion is a handsome High-Elf Rogue who also happens to be a vampire. His class and affliction give him a variety of stealth attacks and a few magic options if you’re so inclined. Astarion can be found early in Act I. Once you’ve grabbed Shadowheart, head left into the Nautiloid wreckage and defeat the Intellect Devourers. Then, head left again and follow the path around the coast. You’ll run into Astarion near a crossroads. During your initial encounter, Astarion will try and stab you, but it’s easy to slip from his grasp and calm the situation down. Once he realizes your mutual tadpole problem, he’ll join the party. Gale With great hair and powerful spells, Gale is a powerful Human Wizard. He’s a competent magic user with some potential build variety and tons of great spells to set him apart from the rest. From the area where you meet Astarion, head back into the Nautiloid and pass through it until you reach an area on the map called the Roadside Cliffs. You’ll see a sparking fast travel portal with a hand coming out of it. This is Gale, who needs a little help getting out. Simply pull Gale out and he’ll readily join the party. If you’re playing the Dark Urge Origin and want to keep Gale in the party, resist the urge to remove his hand when it reaches out through the portal. Otherwise, you’ll accidentally kill him. Wyll You’d think Wyll’s habit of consorting with demons would make him a rather nasty fellow. Despite that, this Human Warlock with the Fiend Patron subclass is an honorable warrior who’s a capable swordsman with some eldritch magic to back it up. To recruit Wyll, head to the Druid Grove in Act I and you’ll see a cutscene where he helps defend the front gate from goblins. Once the battle is won, enter Druid Grove and seek out the Tiefling camp, where Wyll teaches kids how to fight. Speak to him and you’ll recruit him, though he’ll be tasked with hunting Karlach. You can keep Karlach and Wyll in the same party. If you take Wyll with you when you find Karlach, it’s easy to convince both of them to stand down. Lae’zel Lae’zel is a powerful Githyanki Fighter whose usefulness in combat is balanced by her snarky demeanor and sharp tongue. She’s all about bashing enemy heads in, so keep her around if you’re playing a spellcaster. You’ll have Lae’zel in your party during the tutorial, but she’ll vanish once you crash land. It doesn’t take long to find her. Simply head to the Roadside Cliffs (mentioned above in Gale’s recruitment) and head to the area behind the fast travel point. On the road, you’ll find Lae’zel trapped in a cage by some Tieflings. You can either kill the Tieflings or convince them to leave. If you choose to fight, use a ranged weapon on the bottom of Lae’zel’s cage to free her, allowing her to join the battle. This is also required if you convince the Tieflings to leave, otherwise, she’ll be stuck up there. Once Lae’zel is free, she’ll easily join the party, though she’ll ask the player to visit a nearby Githyanki Creche to seek aid. Don’t do this straight away, as it has some punishing foes. Just concentrate on the other Act I quests for the time being, then visit the Creche before you’re ready to go to Act II. Karlach Karlach is a Zariel Tiefling Barbarian with the ability to enter a powerful Rage that increases her damage. Thanks to her infernal bloodline, she’ll gain access to powerful smiting spells as she levels up, and the player can feed her Soul Coins to improve her damage even further. Karlach is found near a river to the west of the Druid Grove. Wyll wants to seek her out, as do some nearby Paladins, but ignore them, as Karlach is a good character and a loyal party member. From the Emerald Grove fast travel point, head west to the big stone bridge crossing the river, go across, and then head north. Keep going until you find another river, then follow the river east. You’ll spot Karlach hanging out behind a log bridge. Even if you have Wyll, it’s easy to recruit Karlach into your party. Ideally, you’ll want both of them around, so make sure to sort to prevent any fights between them. Also, make sure to kill those lying Paladins if they told you about Karlach. Halsin Halsin is a Wood Elf Druid with the Circle of the Moon subclass, who’s the leader of the Druid Grove in the first act. While you can encounter him in Act I, he won’t fully join you until Act II. You’ll learn in the Druid Grove that Halsin has gone missing. He’s currently Wild Shaped into his bear form in the Goblin Camp, where he can be found trapped in the Worg Pens. When you’re ready to wipe out the Goblins, it’s best to free him first, as having a rampaging bear as an ally is really helpful. Once the Goblins and the three True Souls are defeated, he’ll return with you to the Druid Grove, where he’ll hopefully resolve the remaining tensions. Once that’s completed, he’ll hang out in your camp for a while. In Act 2, head to The Last Light Inn and seek out Art Cullagh, the man who is trapped in his dreams. Tell Halsin in the camp about Thaniel and then return to Art Cullagh. This will start the “Art’s Last Orders” quest. Continue through the game until you meet Malus Throm in the House of Healing. Once you’ve defeated Malus, take the lute off his body and use it with Art Cullagh. This will result in a new quest, where you must protect Halsin from shadow monsters while he’s using a portal. Save and use the Wall of Fire spell scrolls for this battle! That spell will make the quest trivial, as the shadow monsters will run into it and get incinerated. If you complete the quest, talk to Halsin in the Camp and he’ll finally join the party. Jaheira Jaheira is a Half-Elf Druid with the Circle of the Land subclass. She’s a powerful warrior and one that many may recognize from previous Baldur’s Gate games, as she was a major character in the Bhaalspawn Saga. You’ll encounter Jaheria at The Last Light Inn in Act 2, but she’ll only serve as a temporary party member throughout the Underdark. Once you defeat Ketheric Throm at the end of Act 2, if Jaheria is still alive, she’ll join the party in Act 3. This means you might be waiting a while before nature’s servant joins you. Minthara Minthara is a Drow Paladin and a villain in most good routes. She’s one of the three chosen Absolute, and if you choose to side with her will become one of your companions. If you’re playing an evil route, simply enter the Goblin Camp on good terms and seek Minthara out in its depths. Reveal the location of the Druid Grove to her and agree to attack it. Travel back to the Druid Grove and murder its inhabitants. During the victory party, you can unlock Minthara’s romance scene. It’s vitally important that you do not visit the Githyanki Creche before wiping out the Druid Grove! If you do, the Druids will seal off the area, and Minthara will attack you for taking too long. Then, continue to Act II and reach the Moonrise Towers, where you’ll find Minthara being interrogated by Ketheric. Convince the enemy to send Minthara to jail and then free here, where she’ll join your party. If you’re doing a good route, simply make sure to knock Minthara unconscious instead of killing her during the Goblin Camp fight. When you reach Moonrise Towers, the same scenes as the evil route will play out, giving you a new chance to recruit her. Minsc Minsc is a Human Ranger with the Hunter subclass, who is one of the most famous characters in the Baldur’s Gate series, even becoming a major part of Dungeons & Dragons. Naturally, he’s joined by Boo, his deadly hamster. In order to recruit Minsc, you need Jaheria in your party, which means you won’t get him until you reach Act 3. Jaheira will give you the High Harper quest, which you must follow until you reach the Lower City Sewers. Follow the quest markers until you encounter Minsc in the sewers. Like with Minthara, you must use non-lethal attacks on Minsc. If you accidentally kill Minsc, then Jaheira will also leave the party. The Emperor will try to convince you to kill Minsc, so you must convince him to help. Once you do, Minsc and Boo will join the party. Want to learn more about Baldur’s Gate 3? All classes & subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3 – Dexerto
All classes & subclasses in Baldur’s Gate 3 Larian StudiosIn Baldur’s Gate 3, players can select from 12 distinct classes, each with a multitude of subclasses that offer a diverse range of gameplay styles. Every job has vastly different abilities, all of which you’ll need to survive the horrors of the Forgotten Realms. Baldur’s Gate 3 uses the D&D 5E rules. This means you pick a race/background/class combo at the start of the game. Then, whenever you level up, continue to proceed as that class (up to a max level of 12,) or spread the levels across different classes, allowing for various multiclass builds. Additionally, each class has a subclass option that’s chosen at some point between levels 1-3. These offer extra customization options, though bear in mind that you can only select one subclass per class. With all of this in mind, here’s every class and subclass option in Baldur’s Gate 3. Barbarian The Barbarian eschews skill and subtlety for brute force. You’re all about hitting a foe as hard as possible and asking questions later. Leave the chat to your party members, as the only thing you respect is the edge of an axe. Barbarians have the highest hit points in the RPG, use their Rage power to increase their damage output, have greater movement than the other martial classes, and don’t need armor to deflect blows. Barbarians choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: Berserker – Their Rage ability turns into Frenzy, which lets you toss enemies around. As they level up, they become immune to Charmed and Frightened conditions and can make Intimidation checks to scare foes. – Wildheart – These nature warriors call on the power of animals, improving their Rage ability and gaining a variety of new powers, depending on what beasts they worship. – Wild Magic – Throw some spells into the mix, causing you to create bursts of wild magic in battle. Perfect for players who love pure chaos. You also become highly resilient to the spells of others and can restore allies’ magical powers. – For full details about the best Barbarian build, check out our dedicated guide. Bard The music makers and dreamer of dreams, the Bards are the ultimate Jack-of-all-trades class. Not only are they full spellcasters, but they can fight on the front lines with the fighters, and use their skills to help the party outside of combat. Bard magic has spells that can heal and buff allies, as well as inflict debilitating debuffs and status effects on enemies. They can also inspire the party, making them more effective in combat, as well as bust out an instrument at any time for a mid-fight singalong. Bards choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: College of Lore – Not only can you pick spells from other class lists, but you can use the Cutting Words ability to insult enemies so hard that they fail their dice rolls. – College of Swords – These swashbucklers are masters of the blade, equalling the warriors of the party with their extra attacks and greater range of proficiencies. – College of Valour – The best buffing Bard, as their Bardic Inspiration ability can be used by allies to inflict more damage in combat. They can also wear better armor and use a shield in combat. – For full details about the best Bard build, check out our dedicated guide. Cleric The gods are very much real in Baldur’s Gate 3, and if you pray hard enough, they’ll let you use some of their powers. The Cleric does this as they’re a conduit of divine magic. Cleric is the best healing class in the game. Not only that, but they’re the masters of obliterating the undead and can even call on some holy magic to smite unbelievers. Clerics choose their subclass at level 1. Their options are: Life Domain – If Clerics are the best healers, then this is the best healing subclass. All of your powers are centered around improving the effectiveness of your restorative abilities. – Light Domain – Use the power of light to blind foes, and add some powerful arcane fire spells to your arsenal. – Knowledge Domain – Gives you powers that aid out of combat skills, along with adding some useful mind control/debuff spells. – Nature Domain – Adds some Druid-style powers and spells to your list without the need for multiclassing. – Tempest Domain – Utilize the power of the storm to master Thunder and Lightning damage, as well as give you Heavy Armor Proficiency. – Trickery Domain – The stealth-based Cleric, who gains powers that fool enemies, along with shadow-based spells. – War Domain – If you want to fight alongside the warriors on the frontline, then this Domain will give you more combat proficiencies, buffing spells, and divinity powers that increase your damage in combat. – For full details about the best Cleric build, check out our dedicated guide. Druid Nature has a voice in Baldur’s Gate 3, and it’s often saying, “Kill the people cutting down trees.” Druids are the ones who answer Nature’s refreshingly direct call, tapping into primal forces to control the world around them. Druids are a full spellcasting class with magic that lets them heal, influence wild beasts, and unleash the elements. Not only that, but they can transform into animals, including bears, using the strength of their form to tear foes to shreds. Druids choose their subclass at level 2. Their options are: Circle of the Moon – These are the masters of the Wild Shape ability, letting them transform into animals quicker, spend spells to heal in their new form, and even learn how to shift into elementals at higher levels. – Circle of the Land – These are the magic-focused Druids, who gain access to way more spells and can even recover some of their spent slots without resting. – Circle of the Spores – Ever watch The Last of Us? Is Parasect your favorite Pokemon? Then, this is the subclass for you. Infect your enemies with fungal spores and drain the life from their bodies. – For full details about the best Druid build, check out our dedicated guide. Fighter What once was the most generic class in D&D is actually one of the most popular choices in Baldur’s Gate 3. The Fighter might seem boring at the concept stage, but it’s a highly effective combat class. Fighters can use all weapons and armor of the bat, so you can switch to better gear instantly whenever it’s found. The best reason to play a Fighter is their level 2 Action Surge ability, as it can be used to unleash many attacks in a single round. You’ll also have access to more Feats than any other class in the game. Fighters choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: Battle Master – Those who want to spice up the Fighter should go for the Battle Master. They gain access to different “Manoeuvres,” allowing you to pull special attacks in combat, including dealing more damage and inflicting status effects. – Champion: Easily the most basic subclass in the game, with only one amazing ability: reducing the number needed to perform a critical hit from 20 to 19-20. Pick this subclass if you want to ignore the character options as much as possible and just focus on the game. – Eldritch Knight – You can cast some spells from the Wizard list, as well as enchant your favored weapon and throw Cantrips in alongside your main attack. – For full details about the best Fighter build, check out our dedicated guide. Monk Screw that Tolkien-inspired fantasy garbage. You want to go through the Forgotten Realms as magical Bruce Lee! The Monk is the unparalleled master of unarmed combat. You don’t need spells and you don’t need swords. Instead, you have your Dragon Ball-style Ki to make your flesh stronger than metal, allowing you to outspeed and overcome anyone foolish enough to cross you. Monks choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: Way of the Four Elements – Not only do you have your martial skills, but you can add some spells to your repertoire, letting you call on the four classic elements in a fight. – Way of the Open Hand – Often called the best subclass in the game, these Monks can add status effects to their attacks and use their Ki to empower their attacks even further, for ridiculous damage output. – Way of the Shadow – The Baldur’s Gate 3 version of the ninja, these Monks gain powers that make them more stealthy and allow them to operate in the darkness. – For full details about the best Monk build, check out our dedicated guide. Paladin If Clerics funnel divine energy into their spells, then Paladins are the ones who pour it into their weapons. These holy (and sometimes unholy) knights can channel the raw divinity of their deities into the blades, unleashing pure hurt onto enemies, especially the undead and fiends. Not only are Paladins skilled at crushing enemies, but they also wield spells and special abilities to heal their allies. They can also use all weapons and armor, which is handy, as there are tons of great equipment options in the game. Paladins choose their subclass at level 1. There is also a hidden subclass that has to be unlocked by completing specific actions. Their options are: Oath of the Ancients – Sworn protector of nature, these Paladins add some Druid and Ranger powers to their repertoire, including the ability to repel fey and ensnare foes. – Oath of Devotion – Those who protect the weak, allowing them to use holy magic to empower their weapons and gain spells that shield allies. – Oath of Vengeance – You have chosen to destroy evil wherever you find it. Your spells and abilities are all about making you stronger and weakening your foes, helping you to bring them down. – Oathbreaker – You have to select another Oath first and then perform actions to break it, transforming you into this subclass. You have shattered your oath and can tap into that heresy to inflict terrible debuffs onto your foes. – For full details about the best Paladin build, check out our dedicated guide. Ranger The D&D 5E Ranger is notoriously the worst class in the game. Fortunately, Larian Studios gave Rangers a much-needed boost, making them more viable in a combat-heavy experience like Baldur’s Gate 3. Rangers are amazing in the wilderness, thanks to a broad range of out-of-combat skills that can keep the party safe. When it comes to battle, not only are they masters of archery and dual-wielding, but they have their own primal spells to call on, which can inflict debuffs on their foes and force them to take more damage. Rangers choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: Beast Master – Why fight alone when you can call on powerful animal companions to work alongside you? These helpful critters can damage enemies and scout ahead for the party without risking any important characters’ necks. – Hunter – The Drizzt wannabes of Baldur’s Gate 3 should pick this class, as they’re the combat-focused Rangers. They gain many useful skills that let them pile on damage against specific enemy types. – Gloom Stalker – The stealth-based Rangers gain spells that let them hide from foes, which is handy, as they’re incredibly deadly when fighting while unseen. – For full details about the best Ranger build, check out our dedicated guide. Rogue You’ll be exploring lots of dungeons and dangerous environments in Baldur’s Gate 3, and there is no better ally to have in these places than a Rogue. They can spot traps from a mile away, break any lock you put in front of them, and notice hidden items that the rest of the party ignored. This focus on exploration doesn’t mean Rogues are slouches in the combat department. Not only can they pile on damage with their Sneak Attack ability, but they zip in and out of battle without fear, thanks to their incredible Cunning Action power. Rogues choose their subclass at level 3. Their options are: Assassin – Hired killers are really helpful in a fight. These deadly Rogues deal a ton of damage against foes who haven’t spotted them yet, making them ideal for stealthy parties. – Arcane Trickster – These Rogues add some magic to their skill set. Not only that, but they can use the Mage Hand Cantrip to influence objects from afar. After all, why should you put yourself in danger? – Thief – This subclass lets you perform two Bonus Actions per round. Not only does this synergy incredibly well with Cunning Action (allowing you to flee from dangerous situations easily), but it lets you chug two potions per round for extra healing & buffing. – For full details about the best Rogue build, check out our dedicated guide. Sorcerer Much like the mutants from the X-Men franchise, Sorcerers gain their power from genetics. In most cases, it’s because they have a supernatural being as an ancestor, usually a dragon, which means they have arcane might flowing through their blood. Sorcerers are a full arcane spellcaster class with the mighty Metamagic power. This lets you alter how spells work on the fly, giving you ultimate customization options. You can also create extra spell slots, which means you get more magic per day than your contemporaries. Sorcerers choose their subclass at level 1. Their options are: Draconic Bloodline – Your grandpa was Smaug. This gives you a choice of elemental affinities, more hit points, a higher armor class, and even the ability to fly at high levels. – Storm Sorcery – You can be Storm from the X-Men. The winds will pull you out of dangerous situations, while your Lightning and Thunder spells will wreak havoc on your foes. – Wild Magic – You are the embodiment of Chaos. There’s a chance that all of your spells will cause a Wild Magic surge, creating an unpredictable effect. You can also tip the odds in your favor, bending luck as needed. – For full details about the best Sorcerer build, check out our dedicated guide. Warlock Warlocks gained their magical powers by signing a binding contract with a higher power. In Baldur’s Gate 3, this means you owe the devil, Cthulhu, or a fairy monarch a favor. Luckily, they’ll give you lots of cool powers while you work off your debt. While you don’t gain as many spells as Sorcerers or Wizards, you’ll receive tons of unique magical powers throughout the game. Spells will restore on a Short Rest, so you can afford to be more trigger-happy with them. You’re also the supreme master of the Eldritch Blast, which is the best Cantrip in Baldur’s Gate 3. Warlocks choose their subclass at level 1. Their options are: Archfey – You can tap into the power of the Feywild. This lets you frighten your foes and slip away from combat unnoticed. – The Fiend – You have the power of the Nine Hells or the Abyss. This lets you heal when you slay foes, improve your abilities, and resist damage. – The Great Old One – You have the power of the unknowable cosmos. This lets you terrify your enemies and shield your mind from intruders, which is really useful in a game filled with Mind Flayers. – For full details about the best Warlock build, check out our dedicated guide. Wizard Wizards have to work hard to master magic, as they must learn how it works, study ancient rituals, and speak secret languages to make the Weave do their bidding. This gives them the greatest understanding of why magic works the way it does. As a Wizard, you can potentially learn every spell on your list, so long as you find scrolls in the overworld. You can also switch your spell selection during a Long Rest, something the other arcane classes cannot do. Not only that, but you’ll master one of the eight schools of magic, giving you unique powers tied to their domain. Wizards choose their subclass at level 2. Their options are: Abjuration School – This school focuses on defensive spells and banishing otherworldly beings. You can craft a magical shield that is powered by spells and protects you from harm. – Conjuration School – This school focuses on summoning spells and transporting items. You can switch spots with an ally and move people on the battlefield. – Divination School – This school lets you see and hear things from a distance. You can even glimpse the future, giving you a chance to avoid harm by bolstering dice rolls. – Enchantment School – This school focuses on empowering items and capturing the minds of foes. You can even control multiple enemies with a single spell. – Evocation School – This school focuses on damaging spells and creating energy. You can deal even more harm with your spells while shielding allies from their effects. – Illusion School – This school focuses on creating sights and sounds that don’t exist. You can conjure even more realistic illusions, tricking your foes into attacking them. – Necromancy School – This school focuses on channeling life and bringing back the dead. You can steal the life force of foes and create more undead allies. – Transmutation School – This school focuses on creating substances and transforming into different forms. You can give yourself new natural abilities and even transform into a bird, as well as being a master potion maker. – For full details about the best Wizard build, check out our dedicated guide. Additional “really evil” endings for Baldur’s Gate 3 are in the works – Dexerto
Additional “really evil” endings for Baldur’s Gate 3 are in the works LarianDespite no plans for DLC and sequel, Baldur’s Gate 3 players will still have some more things to look forward to, one of them including more evil endings. Baldur’s Gate 3, despite being released in August 2023, is still holding its momentum as one of Steam’s most-played games, according to SteamDB. The game has also picked up several awards thanks to its rich storyline and gameplay, drawing veterans and new players further into its immersive fantasy world. So, when the news that Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be receiving DLC and sequel broke, some players were left devastated. Although Swen Vincke has confirmed that the company will move on to start “something new,” players will still have additional things they can look forward to in Baldur’s Gate 3, one of them getting more evil endings. According to an interview with IGN, while players won’t be seeing “massive content changes,” the team is working on adding new evil endings in the game for those who enjoy being a lot more villainous. He said: “So they’re working on the evil endings right now. I’ve seen some of them. They’re really evil. So the evil players will be satisfied with that.” While the new “really evil” endings weren’t specified further, this could help shake things up for those wanting a more dramatic playthrough. Additionally, in an X post shared by Vincke, the team is not done updating the game and is planning to add more support. “There’s still a bunch of stuff coming like mod support and extra cinematics for some of the endings. Just not new content,” he wrote.

A handful of NPCs are preventing Baldur’s Gate 3 players from becoming completely evil – Dexerto
A handful of NPCs are preventing Baldur’s Gate 3 players from becoming completely evil Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most flexible games this year, and like all good RPGs, it gives players tons of chances to be the worst person possible. There’s even an entire origin character dedicated to giving into “the dark urge” if you really want to role play as a villain. But doing that means endangering some of the most beloved NPCs in the game, and it can be pretty rough to watch if you like any of them. That’s the sacrafice of an evil playthrough though. Sometimes you need to kill the characters you love just to see what dialogue options it reveals. Baldur’s Gate 3 players reveal which NPCs stop them turning evil However, there are some NPCs that are so loved that it’s stopped players from picking the evil decisions, saving countless numbers of Tiefling refugees. One player described this phenomenon on the Baldur’s Gate subreddit, saying: “For me, it’s not losing any companions, it’s losing Dammon and (based purely on emotion) Doni. I keep trying an evil run and I end up starting over.” Another player said that Zevlor, the leader of the teifling refugees, was their weakness: “I can’t do that to him. Any of the tieflings, really, but his hurt ruins me.” And of course, a lot of players had a soft spot for the most-romanced character in the game: Shadowheart. “I can’t bear to watch Shar get the last laugh on kidnapping and brainwashing an innocent girl and torturing her parents for 40 years just because they followed a different goddess.” It’s good to see that players willpower is being propped up by these characters, otherwise there’d by a lot more mindflayers wandering around. 90-hour Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run lost to unquenchable thirst – Dexerto
90-hour Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run lost to unquenchable thirst Larian StudiosYet another Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run has been lost because a player couldn’t resist the temptation of a ‘romance’ scene. For the uninitiated, Baldur’s Gate 3’s notorious Honor Mode ratchets up the difficulty with beefier enemies and more difficult combat encounters. It also limits you to a single save so that your game is over for good once your party bites the dust. It’s not uncommon to end an Honor Mode run thanks to a minor miscalculation in combat. Of course, Baldur’s Gate 3’s D&D-inspired mechanics can also kill you with a conversation. As such, it’s always best to be extra careful when experimenting with unseen dialogue options in Honor Mode. Unfortunately for one player on the Baldur’s Gate 3 Subreddit, they threw caution to the wind in an effort to experience a never-before-seen romantic encounter. “Being horny lost my Honour run” The moment in question came all the way in the third act after 9 hours of flawless play when entering the House of Hope. This Baldur’s Gate 3 player desperately needed a key that only the Incubus Haarlep can provide. Rather than initiating combat and prying it from her corpse, they elected to enter into a subtle dance of seduction to acquire the key with guile. Hopping into bed with the Incubus in a steamy encounter that involves offering up your soul. Sounds pretty precarious in an Honor Mode run, and it was. “I knew from spoilers that this would kill me, but I had plenty of revive scrolls, so I just planned to use one after,” the player explained. “Well, I play along and give my soul to them, and then the lost Honor Run screen pops up, and I can see the rest of my party still alive in the background.” While contemplating if finally viewing the raunch scene was worth it, the result was an emphatic “no”. Looks like it’s back to the drawing board to see if they can replicate that 90 hours. Maybe in their next Baldur’s Gate 3 Honor Mode run, they’ll take care of Haarlep the old-fashioned way.

7 games like Baldur’s Gate 3 you have to play – Dexerto
7 games like Baldur’s Gate 3 you have to play Blizzard Entertainment / BioWareIf you enjoyed Baldur’s Gate 3, chances are you’ll also love these games. Here are seven games like Baldur’s Gate 3 that you have to play. Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a triumph, but it’s not the only game in the genre. While we could simply recommend Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2, there are various other games that bear a resemblance to Baldur’s Gate 3, be it in style, storytelling, or combat. Each of the below entries has something in common with the game, and chances are, if you’ve had an epic time in fantasy gaming’s most celebrated city, then you’ll also have a blast in one of the below games. Here are seven games like Baldur’s Gate 3 that we recommend you give a try. Some have stark differences, but all capture the spirit of the series and have lots of fans in common. Pillars of Eternity (1 and 2) Pillars of Eternity and its sequel are both heavily inspired by the original Baldur’s Gate games, so much so that they were considered spiritual successors to the series – and may be the reason why Baldur’s Gate 3 was even greenlit. The Pillars games proved there was still a hunger for the series and this may well have sparked its return. The second game is especially fun, allowing players to crew their own ship and sail it around the world having adventures and smiting enemies with addictive turn-based combat. While both games are superb on any platform, we especially enjoyed the Switch ports which allowed us to carry on swashbuckling even when on the move! Divinity: Original Sin (1 and 2) Divinity: Original Sin and its follow-up are both prequels to 2002’s Divine Divinity, a game that resembled Diablo in a lot of ways. However, both Divinity: Original Sin games take their inspiration more from Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 than Diablo. The games put you in the role of two early humans looking for the source of all Sin in an effort to save the world, as well as some excellent turn-based combat that is incredibly hard to put down. Both games also break new ground in how they allow you to customize the world around you, both in single-player and multiplayer, even letting you publish your edited worlds online for others to enjoy. Disco Elysium Disco Elysium combined elements of Baldur’s Gate, Fallout, and even Planescape: Torment into one single adventure set in a crumbling seaside resort that’s slowly recovering from an invasion several years ago. The player takes on the role of an amnesic detective who’s trying to solve a murder, while things get increasingly weird around them. The game doesn’t feature much in the way of combat, it’s mostly geared around the people you talk to and the choices you make. Those who enjoy this aspect of Baldur’s Gate will find a lot to love in Disco Elysium. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (1 and 2) While a spinoff to the original two Baldur’s Gate games, the Dark Alliance series emulated Blizzard’s Diablo series by switching out the turn-based combat for some hack-and-slash action. It also worked remarkably well, the Dungeons and Dragons setting feeling like an ideal backdrop for such addictive loot-chasing action. Each game is a must-play for Baldur’s Gate fans and it’s worth pointing out that both have also been remastered on current systems. 2021’s Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance was considered a spiritual sequel but sadly didn’t live up to the legacy of the first two games. Diablo 4 If you fancy more hack-and-slash action in a similar vein to Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance, then Diablo 4 is the game for you. Diablo and Baldur’s Gate have always been two games with a similar fan base, despite the obvious differences between both franchises, especially relating to combat. One being turn-based and the other hack-and-slash. Yet both games seem to occupy a similar space when it comes to top-down adventures with lots of rich lore, exploration, and enemies to destroy. Diablo 4 is the most recent entry in the series, taking a darker tone than Diablo 3, and pitting players against a more complicated enemy than just Diablo himself. Those who adore Baldur’s Gate 3 owe it to themselves to check out Diablo 4. Octopath Traveller (1 and 2) Like Baldur’s Gate 3, both Octopath Traveller games tell a deep interconnected fantasy story with lots of characters whose destinies are linked. Each game features eight protagonists all on their own individual quests before each character becomes embroiled in a wider story that affects them all. In many ways, Octopath Traveller 1 and 2 are both tributes to the early 8-bit Final Fantasy games featuring a similar art style, but they stand on their own due to how replayable and deep each ‘Octopath’ ends up being. Baldur’s Gate 3 reminded us of these adventures, just as Octopath Traveller reminded us of Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2. Elden Ring 2022 belonged to Elden Ring and fantasy RPG fans who haven’t played it yet really need to finish reading this list and give it a try. A Souls game at its heart, Elden Ring is set in a vast open world where player choice is everything, breaking the mold from what had been previously expected from From Software games. Like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Diablo 4, Elden Ring is one of the most celebrated fantasy adventures of the current era and its influence can be felt all over BG4. While it features free-flowing combat rather than the turn-based battles of Baldur’s Gate, this is another game where the simplest choice could have gigantic ramifications on the story and world you’re in – if you can handle the difficulty.
