  • Apex Legends dev explains why Loba’s teleport doesn’t always work – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains why Loba’s teleport doesn’t always work Respawn EntertainmentLoba’s teleportation tactical ability ‘Burglar’s Best Friend’ doesn’t work exactly as it did in the Apex Legends Fortune’s Favor gameplay trailer – prompting a response from a Respawn dev. A trending post in the popular Apex Legends subreddit showed ‘DropTopMox’ making a valiant effort to recreate one of the first instances in which players got to see a true gameplay-scenario debut of Loba and her Jump Drive bracelet. Though previously shown in smaller capacities, players got to whet their appetites on the High Society Thief’s robust abilities, including a move that lets her teleport to her throwable bracelet. A PSA on what Loba can really do Unfortunately, the limit test for Loba’s teleport didn’t go so well for DropTopMox and was confused to discover that the bracelet was a dud when they needed it the most – until Respawn dev ‘Deco’ shared what likely went wrong. “PSA: Do NOT try to recreate the Loba play from the trailer,” the player cautioned after utilizing the ability in the same way Loba does in the trailer while getting wildly different results. The gameplay trailer showed Loba making a last ditch dive over a cliff with Pathfinder and both used their long-cooldown tacticals to retreat to level below. In mid-air, when Loba spun to throw her bracelet, she made it to the other end safely. After DropTopMax used the same tactical move – and failed spectacularly – he got on the internet to make a meme starring the Ghanaian Dancing Pallbearers. After a few hours of shared confusion and dismay following his popular thread, Deco replied to the post that had accumulated over 5,000 upvotes, at the time of writing. “Ah yes,” Deco acknowledged after quoting a line awfully reminiscent of something that would be written on the Apex Tracker. “If the tactical is thrown, and then Loba herself hits a slip trigger, the tactical will fail even though it hit a valid surface.” The tracker lists some, but not all, of everything that Respawn is addressing. Though Deco was sure to give some clarity to the situation, informing all players that it is a “known issue [and to] expect it to be fixed in a future patch.” In the meantime, prowling Lobas should be aware that a slip during a hunt in Apex Legends could quickly lead to their downfall.

  • Apex Legends dev explains why Wattson and Crypto won’t be overhauled anytime soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains why Wattson and Crypto won’t be overhauled anytime soon Respawn EntertainmentIn an interview with Dexerto, Apex Legends Lead Legend Designer Chris Winder broke down why the team feels confident in both Wattson and Crypto’s place in the pecking order heading into Season 14. Defensive characters have always been something of a niche pick in the ultra-aggressive world of Apex Legends, but the dev team has held strong on their belief that these characters are serving their purpose as intended. While calls for buffs to picks like Wattson and Crypto have remained strong over the last few months, Winder thinks that any future adjustments would have to be careful to not change their core too much. Crypto and Wattson likely to stay the same for a while yet After a question about whether or not the dev has certain Legends they expect to never break into the top of the game’s pick rates, the Legends head explained that identity is more important than utility when the team approaches any kind of buff or change. “We’re always actually careful not to push them out of their playstyles because I think that characters like Crypto or Wattson sort of own a very specific space in the gameplay for Apex,” he said.“ We could do things to those characters to make them meta if we wanted to. But the goal isn’t to make all the characters really good in every way. Design Director Evan Nikolich backed up this style of thinking by pointing out how Seer went under the radar for a while after his post-release nerf but is now soaring back up the charts at the end of Season 13. “We also don’t want to knee-jerk react. We just added those Crypto buffs, so we’ll have to see how the community reacts and really learns how to use him. But as Chris said before, it’s a really delicate balance across the sandbox.” It’s clear that Respawn is content with these picks for now, but with the addition of Vantage in the upcoming season, who knows how things might ultimately shake out

  • Apex Legends dev explains removal of “awful” Caustic Gas passive – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains removal of “awful” Caustic Gas passive Respawn EntertainmentCaustic was the target of a couple of changes in the Apex Legends Season 7: Ascension update patch that essentially took away probably the strongest part of his kit – but Respawn game designer Daniel Z. Klein defended the removal of the “awful” effect. In the patch notes for the new season update, Respawn made it so that “Legends no longer get a blurred vision effect while in” Caustic’s Nox Gas. Though they also upticked the damage inflicted by the haze, people were more concerned with the nerf. Players immediately expressed their concerns with the change, noting that the ability to partially blind opponents could arguably be seen as one of Caustic’s greatest tools. “This is overall a nerf,” user ‘BarrothObama’ said to the patch. “Most Caustic mains understand that gas damage is not the most useful part of his kit. It was always the slow and the blinding that was important.” To be clear, the Ascension update didn’t remove the Nox Gas’ ability to slow down opponents, but the main concern revolves around the blind. With the Legend’s tall stature as well as his lack of mobility or meaningful gap-closing capabilities, the blind was the most unique and welcomed part of his kit. But the developer was more wary of what the Nox Gas’ ability was doing to the playability of the overall game. “I do agree this is probably a nerf,” Klein said. “The vision blur was a huge part of the power of this skill, but it was also reliably one of the most frustrating experiences in Apex.” Comment byu/Murphythepotato from discussion inapexlegends The Respawn designer was also cautious with how overbearing the blur effect was becoming for people to deal with: “It made fighting back feel like not even an option, and even if you could fight back, the experience of having everything, including your sights when you ADS, blurred just felt really awful.” While the reasoning is sound, Caustic players now feel like a generally weak character was made even worse after the latest updates. For grieving fans of the Toxic Trapper, Klein was enthusiastic about getting more community feedback on how to properly buff Caustic in the future, but for now he’s going to be in a strange spot.

  • Apex Legends dev explains reasoning for controversial Caustic buff – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains reasoning for controversial Caustic buff Respawn EntertainmentAfter backlash from the Apex Legends community over a new Caustic buff coming in the Fight Night Collection Event, Daniel Klein — Senior Game Designer at Respawn — explained his thought process for the changes via Twitter. The Fight Night Collection Event in Apex Legends is scheduled to kick off on January 5. In addition to adding limited-time modes and cosmetics, the update will also introduce several balancing changes, bug fixes and quality-of-life updates. While the community praised many of these changes — like updates to Ultimate Accelerant functionality and inventory management — they have taken issue with some of the balancing tweaks Respawn planned for the game’s next patch. The patch notes confirmed two Legend changes: a Rampart amped cover buff and a decrease to Caustic’s gas trap cooldown. After seeing the changes Respawn have in line, the Apex community voiced concerns and Klein took to Twitter in order to address them. While Klein’s original Twitter discussion was based around a proposed change to Gibraltar’s gun shield, it quickly shifted gears. One player tweeted at the designer questioning the additional Caustic buff: “Nobody asked for a caustic buff. At what point did the office decide this?” Read More: Apex Legends Fight Night Event Patch Notes – Before the developer had a chance to respond, another user pointed out that making a five-second change to a character’s cooldown was probably easier than changing the entire mechanic of Gibby’s arm shield. The Respawn developer was quick to confirm this with an official response. “Yup! That one was super easy to do,” Klein confirmed. He went on to explain that changing a cooldown only takes a short amount of time and a few playtests. Further, he clarified that while players are concerned about the buff, Caustic required work as he remains “one of the weakest characters in the game.” https://twitter.com/danielzklein/status/1345510024651497478 Some community members were a bit skeptical of this. Comments referencing the Legend’s ability to play both aggressively and defensively, his strength in ranked versus unranked play and the general power of his abilities were all mentioned in responses to Klein’s tweet. When asked why Caustic continues to receive buffs, Klein disclosed that the character’s viability had been a topic at Respawn as far back as March 2020. The developer still thinks Caustic might need even more work, responding to one user with “you don’t seem willing to accept my core message here: Caustic is weak.” Several content creators and pro players responded to the game designer with their own concerns. Pro player Eric ‘Snip3down’ Wrona issued his own verdict, once again noting the differences between Caustic’s performance in regular matches versus ranked or competitive play. I think we need to differentiate here. Caustic is weak (in pubs) because people don’t sit in buildings caring about the win, Caustic is weak in open fields and on unorganized teams. How about we take away his ult gas after he’s killed so all end games aren’t 4 caustic ults — FaZe Snip3down (@Snip3down) January 3, 2021 Despite the doubts, Klein remained firm in his explanation for the changes. Respawn has frequently cited their internal metrics — like win rate and pick rate — when balancing each Legend, and the game designer stands by the information his team is working off of. While the developers typically stick to their guns and keep balancing changes after they are released, there have been instances where feedback convinced them to revert a change or update an unbalanced mechanic after it was added to the game (as was the case with Evo Shield adjustments back in Season 6). Klein is very active on Reddit and Twitter, and often engages in open discourse about community concerns such as the upcoming Caustic buff. Players should keep their eyes peeled for any additional comments or changes as the arguments over Caustic’s balancing continue.

  • Apex Legends dev explains reason behind Season 14 SMG nerfs – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains reason behind Season 14 SMG nerfs Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends Season 14 came with a great deal of SMG nerfs, and, in a Reddit AMA, game developers at Respawn explained why SMGs got hit so hard coming into the season. As a Battle Royale, Apex Legends has long been defined by its mobility options and high octane firefights. For close-range outplays, it’s hard to think of a better go-to weapon class than SMGs. But, going into Season 14, SMGs were heavily nerfed by removing barrel stabilizers from the class and increasing hipfire spread, with laser sights being added to improve hipfire spread if you can find one. Separating SMGs from ARs in Apex Legends Season 14 In a Reddit AMA, Apex Legends developers explained why they changed SMGs and their goals with the set of Season 14 changes. According to a senior game designer on Apex Legends, Eric Canavese, “SMGs have been quite a [dominant] force in Apex for some time. One of the major factors that contributes to this was their ability to use barrels to extend their range giving AR’s a run for their money.” Top-tier SMGs like the CAR and R-99 were lethal at mid-range with barrel stabilizers, making these weapons great at close-range and comparable to ARs at longer ranges. Assault Rifles weren’t bad by any means (and also had their hipfire nerfed alongside SMGs in the Season 14 update), but there was a clear desire to keep SMGs in close range. Thus the introduction of laser sights. Canavase elaborated on Respawn’s thinking when adding laser sights in Season 14. “The lasers enhance an SMG’s CQC ability while simultaneously limiting their range by taking the place of barrels.” While laser sights have made SMGs even more accurate than they were before the update, the inability to reduce SMG recoil has made these changes feel like a big nerf for most players. Not to mention the CAR, a weapon that didn’t get a laser sight at all. Canavase concluded with this: “Combining this addition with the AR hipfire nerfs creates a more cohesive balance between two weapon classes whose lines have begun to blur.” While nerfs to the long-dominant weapon class have saddened longtime Apex Legends fans, it’s hard to deny that a rigid line between SMGs and Assault Rifles is healthy for game balance in the long-term.

  • Apex Legends dev explains reason behind removing Hammerpoint in Season 9 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains reason behind removing Hammerpoint in Season 9 Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends developer has explained why Respawn made the decision to vault the Hammerpoint hop up in Season 9. The Apex Legends Season 9 patch is on the cusp of releasing and players are gearing up for what looks like the game’s biggest update yet. From the brand new Legend Valkyrie to a fresh permanent mode in the form of Arenas, it’s fair to say the upcoming Legacy Season has got the whole community incredibly excited. With the Bocek bow also being added on May 4, two new hop-ups in the form of Shatter Caps and Deadeye’s Tempo are being added to the loot pool. In order to make room for these brand new attachments, the Hammerpoint and Skullpeircer hop-ups are being vaulted. This has spurred a lot of questions from the Apex community, who are particularly fond of the Hammerpoint for the Mozambique. In response, an Apex dev has come out and gave some clarity over why they decided to vault the hop-up. Why is Hammerpoint being removed in Apex Legends Season 9? Usable with the Mozambique and P2020, the Hammerpoint Rounds hop-up greatly increases damage to unshielded enemies. While certainly not the most popular attachment, it has made the Mozambique a viable secondary option to finish off low targets in close-range gunfights. However, the Hammerpoint hop-up is being removed in Season 9 and an Apex developer has shed some light on why it’s being vaulted. According to the dev, it all comes down to the fact that they’re buffing both the Mozambique and the P2020 at the launch of Season 9. Read More: How to get higher FPS on Apex Legends – Therefore, keeping the Hammerpoint in-game as it is with these additional buffs would most likely make these weapons overpowered. On top of this, they were attempting to make room for the new Bocek Bow hop-ups. “Long story short, because of buffing the base weapons, we would have to nerf the hop-up’s power so it wasn’t OP… the hop-up only really works as a high-risk high reward item, so it just didn’t work well anymore,” they said. It’s obvious Respawn has a solid reason for removing the Hammerpoint in the Season 9 update. Although it’ll certainly be difficult to two-tap low health targets with the Mozambique in the new season, hopefully, the buffs make the gun more effective overall. Either way, the devs have also revealed they’re exploring what they can do with the Hammerpoint in the future, so there’s always a chance it’ll make a return.

  • Apex Legends dev explains next steps to address massive cheating problem – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains next steps to address massive cheating problem Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends’ director said in an interview that they, just like the players, see the cheating crisis in the Battle Royale title as a major problem. Apex Legends has always had a vocal portion of its player base complaining about cheaters and hackers, with even some pros bemoaning their constant run-ins with aimbots or wallhackers. The issue came to a head in 2024 thanks to a public security breach during a professional Apex tournament. In an interview with IGN about the controversial Battle Pass adjustments, Apex Legends Game Director Steven Ferreira said that the dev team also sees the cheating issues and is working towards a solution. Ferriera explained that players widely criticized Respawn for messing around with the Battle Pass rather than taking on Apex cheaters. “These are all things that honestly make up the majority of what we think about and work towards day in and day out on Apex,” he said. “But the reality is that a lot of these things are long-lead time initiatives. They are complex problems for us to address. And they’re not just like, oh, here’s a problem, here’s a band-aid solution. We actually look to implement solutions to this as part of the experience,” Ferriera explained. The issue with how Respawn is dealing with cheaters, according to the Game Director, stems from how uncommunicative the developer has been about what they are working on. “We have things that are coming out in the upcoming season and we have things that are a long lead time in our road map that span out multiple seasons. They are all focused exactly on the things that the community’s concerned about, but we never talk about them and we never acknowledge and have a conversation about the things that we’re trying and doing around those topics,” he said. In the future, Ferriera said players should expect more communication and updates from Respawn about cheaters and other major issues with the game as the start of next season grows closer. Apex players on Reddit were happy to see the developers acknowledge the cheating epidemic, but are not fully swayed by Ferriera’s promises. “It’s a start but the community needs to keep the pressure on them to make some changes and improve the game,” one Reddit user said. Season 22 starts on August 6, 2024, so players should expect to hear more about how Respawn plans to deal with cheaters and hackers sometime before then.

  • Apex Legends dev explains matchmaking system as SBMM backlash continues – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains matchmaking system as SBMM backlash continues Respawn EntertainmentA Respawn Entertainment developer has delved into Apex Legends’ matchmaking system as backlash against skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) continues. The gaming community’s debate around SBMM has become as protracted as the one that surrounds aim assist and controllers. SBMM refers to a game’s matchmaking taking into account skill level when determining which players are put in a lobby. It is designed to protect lower-skilled players and ensure they are not put into matches against opponents far superior. Its inclusion in public matches, which players argue should be inherently casual, is particularly controversial. One game that has used SBMM for a significant period of time is Apex Legends. It has come in for considerable criticism from the player base and continues to do so ahead of Season 15. Apex Legends dev explains SBMM ahead of Season 15 The topic was broached by TSM’s Albralelie, who asked the devs for a candid explanation of the game’s matchmaking and specifically why public matches use SBMM. A prompt response came from Samy Duc, a Technical Director at Respawn. He said: “Matchmaking is the combination of 3 things: a progression system, a matching algorithm [and] a skill rating.” The progression system refers to what is “exposed to the player”, specifically a player’s badge. A skill rating refers to the game trying to determine a player’s ability, which Duc said is especially difficult in a BR given the amount of RNG present. The final component, the matching algorithm, refers to how the game chooses opponents players are matched with. Duc offered a lengthier explanation of each, before summarizing: “So what is SBMM[?] It is just matchmaking with skill rating, so by definition just matchmaking… pubs usually do not get a progression system and therefore are less sticky to players compared to Ranked.” His overall point was that matchmaking is incredibly complex and, just because it takes into account a player’s skill rating and an estimated level of ability, does not mean it is determined by it. In public matches, matchmaking is more relaxed and factors in skill rating and talent levels to a lesser extent. Whether the detailed explanation placates players is another matter, but it certainly allows the community to better understand what a complex and frequently thankless task video game matchmaking is.

  • Apex Legends dev explains how they could buff Octane’s jump pad – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains how they could buff Octane’s jump pad Respawn EntertainmentThe high-flying acrobat of the Arena, Octane, could get a healthy buff to his Launch Pad ultimate as Respawn continues to find the sweet spot for upgrades to Apex Legends’ Adrenaline Junkie. There are already changes coming to Octane’s ult in an upcoming patch which should take the ambiguity out of achieving the super jump when touching down onto the platform. These changes might make it to Apex by Season 8, but Respawn will have to see, according to Design Director Jason McCord. That’s already known, but Octane mains will be glad to hear that the devs are also looking to expand his precision while in mid-air, something that is currently only achievable by sliding into the Launch Pad. “I don’t think we’re touching that,” Lead Game Designer Daniel Z. Klein said in response to someone asking about potential tweaks to Octane’s mid-air accuracy. “And I in fact do think it’s a good mechanic.” https://twitter.com/danielzklein/status/1343744595276926976 “I think he should maybe always have this? Regardless of whether he’s sliding into it or not? It positions the jump pad as a more offensive tool.” In Apex Legends, players are used to throwing themselves right into the fray with a boost from Octane’s Stim and a leap off the Launch Pad. But savvy players know that sliding into the platform gives the Adrenaline Junkie complete accuracy while firing in mid-air. While previously it was a specific mechanic that took some getting used to in order to perfect, Respawn could expand the move to include any interaction between Octane and the Launch Pad. Meaning, Octane could get a buff to have 100% mid-air accuracy when jumping off the ultimate whether its a slide, walk-on, or leap off of the pad. This will give the High-Speed Daredevil some more options to consider when pushing with their Launch Pad or making a play in close quarters. Defensively, his ultimate is really good for making key rotations or getting out of sticky situations. Now the studio could experiment with this change to open his offensive capabilities. By the sounds of it, the proposed buff is still under consideration at Respawn so it’ll be interesting to see if the changes to Octane’s buff eventually go live.

  • Apex Legends dev explains how they balance weapons and meta – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains how they balance weapons and meta Respawn/EARespawn developer Brent ‘Scriptacus’ McLeod has explained how the Apex Legends team tries to keep weapons balanced, the meta fresh, and not let lower-skilled players fall to the wayside in matches. Like many of its battle royale competitors, Apex Legends is constantly being updated and filled with new content by Respawn Entertainment in order to keep fans engaged as well as freshening up the game. The bigger changes that fans can usually find are new challenges, new cosmetics, and sometimes new weapons – though weapon balancing is a major part of every update. The developers react to what the community is saying about a particular weapon and then decides to either buff or nerf it. McLeod, lead game designer on Apex Legends, gave fans a deep and insightful look into that process during conversations on the Apex Legends subreddit – revealing how the devs try to keep things fresh as well as fair for all skill levels. He noted that many players will watch those that are pretty talented and constantly playing in order to get cues on what weapons, items, and characters to use. This usually means that things can get stale with only a few weapons and characters being used in higher skill matches – though the devs do try and prevent that. “We do try to move the meta around each season with different hop-ups and various balance tweaks of course,” he said. “It’s difficult to push on skills too much, especially when a high skill ceiling is involved.” The dev pointed to the Charge Rifle being an example of how when a player got how to use it, it became incredibly powerful even if others hadn’t perfected it. Comment byu/iesdise from discussion inapexlegends Aside from that particular example, he also noted how the changes have to fit all skill levels. “If it’s significant enough to move the needle and get lower skill players using it, it’ll be an absolute terror in the hands of a skilled pro,” he added. The developer also explained that while fans of Apex would probably like to see a more predictable set of recoil patterns, the team is unlikely to remove any and all randomness from weapon recoil because it is a part of a shooter game after all. If you’re looking to become a master of the recoil patterns in Apex, look no further than our spray pattern guide.

  • Apex Legends dev explains how characters and weapons become overpowered – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev explains how characters and weapons become overpowered Respawn/EAApex Legends dev Jason McCord has explained how characters and weapons end up being overpowered in-game once a new update drops or new season releases. Anytime Apex Legends gets an update and a previously underused weapon or character starts to become a bit more popular, players can often be found complaining about them being overpowered. Whether those complaints are valid or not, Respawn will usually take the feedback on board and make changes if the situation demands it – take the Charge Rifle from season four as an example. Jason McCord, Design Director at Respawn Entertainment, has now offered up an answer for why things can get a little out of whack. Responding to a fan who was asking questions about what goes into the thought process behind the changes, McCord noted that because Apex needs to be kept fresh, things are going to change for better or worse. “A live game needs to push power around to make each season feel different. Ideally, all Legends are balanced but that’s very hard while still keeping them interesting,” McCord tweeted. [jwplayer UQowmNq2] The way I see it, a live game needs to push power around to make each season feel different. Ideally all Legends are balanced but that’s very hard while still keeping them interesting. So we do our best to buff/nerf legends and that naturally shifts the meta and I think that’s ok — Jason McCord (@MonsterclipRSPN) June 13, 2020 The design director followed up with an answer for why weapons can also feel a bit unbalanced at times, saying that they “are not made to be balanced equally” in the first place. “That doesn’t mean some don’t get overpowered when we try to push power around to change the meta,” McCord added, noting that the Apex team “appreciate” the feedback from fans as it does help with their decision making. Weapons are not made to be balanced equally, but that doesn’t mean some dont get overpowered when we try to push power around to change the meta. We appreciate people posting suggestions when they think something is unfair. It helps in our decisions. — Jason McCord (@MonsterclipRSPN) June 13, 2020 In recent weeks, the devs have alluded to changes coming to legends like Crypto and Lifeline, noting that they test things quite a bit before they go live. Obviously, fans can change things if they deem it to be overpowered or even underrated. As Apex Legends season five continues to progress, we’ll just have to wait and see as to what the Respawn team does about the calls for changes from the community.

  • Apex Legends dev drops massive hints about easter egg in Firing Range – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev drops massive hints about easter egg in Firing Range With there being so much craze surrounding the mysterious Season 3 easter egg located in Apex Legends’ Firing Range, a developer from Respawn Entertainment has revealed major clues to help players find it. Ever since the Apex Legends developers revealed that there was a huge easter egg hidden in the new Firing Range training area, many in the community have been spending countless hours in search of it. While there have been easter eggs in the game before, this one’s been teased as a level above the others, with the developers using quotes like “that’s in the game right now?” to hype it up. No one has found it yet, but players have certainly tried, and in the process, they’ve discovered a plethora of secrets about Firing Range, such as how to glitch outside of the map and get to the parked Dropship nearby. Their effort hasn’t gone unnoticed and, in order to help the community out, developer Rayme Vinson dropped a few hints about the secret that has proven to be very elusive so far. When asked about the easter egg on Twitter, Vinson revealed that it does not require three people to unlock it, so it’s more than likely something that players can discover on their own. He also disclosed that it’s very much within the boundaries of the Firing Range, meaning players don’t need to use any glitches to figure it out. “It’s also nothing about getting outside the map or etc,” he tweeted. I didn’t even know you could glitch out of the map until three days ago.” It’s also nothing about getting outside the map or etc. I didn’t even know you *could* glitch out of the map until, like, three days ago. 😅 — Rayme Vinson (@RaymeCVinson) December 1, 2019 In fact, according to Vinson, nothing really too out of the ordinary needs to be done like “sequences to follow or crazy trick shots.” He also said that the easter egg is simple but unlikely to be discovered accidentally or by doing something random. However, perhaps the biggest clue of all came in the form of a riddle, which included a redacted word or phrase that players will need to figure out. “Four simple things about you need to be true. If they’re true when you ******, the thing happens, and it’s not subtle.” Yeah it’s different. There’s no sequence to follow or crazy trick shots to do or anything. It’s simple but unlikely to randomly be done on accident. Four simple things about you need to be true. If they’re true when you ******, the thing happens (and it’s not subtle). — Rayme Vinson (@RaymeCVinson) December 1, 2019 Judging by all these clues and hints, it seems that the process to discover this easter egg isn’t as complicated as the community is making it out to be, which is hard to blame them for. It’s only natural for players to assume that this secret will require them to go above and beyond, but apparently that’s not the case. That said, whether or not these hints will end up helping remains to be seen, but it feels like a matter of time before someone figures it out.

  • Apex Legends dev doubles down on why players don’t spawn in with weapons – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev doubles down on why players don’t spawn in with weapons Respawn EntertainmentRespawn have doubled down on their reasoning for not allowing Apex Legends players to spawn in with weapons or starter kits of any kind, explaining that it disrupts the early flow of battle royale matches. While spawning in with nothing but a dive trail has long been the norm in Apex Legends, plenty of players possess fond memories of the Locked and Loaded takeover that took place in Season 8. The changes the event brought included spawning players into battle royale matches with ‘Starter Kits’ – equipment packs that contained a Mozambique shotgun, 2 Shield Cells, 2 Syringes, and basic protective gear. Plenty of players – both casual and competitive – responded positively to the changes, with Respawn even flirting with the idea of making them permanent. However, long-term changes based on the mode’s popularity did not come, and players still spawn in with no tangible items. The debate was reignited on November 13, when an Apex player stated that everyone should spawn into battle royale matches with a basic P2020. In response, John ‘JayBiebs’ Larson, the Live Balance Designer at Respawn, said: “This was a hot topic when we were implementing starter kits. I was against it because of how quickly a coordinated team could wipe a solo on a contested drop. It’s already a common strategy in high-level ranked. The initial gun scramble buys some time for everyone to react.” This was a hot topic when we were implementing starter kits. I was against it because of how quickly a coordinated team could wipe a solo on a contested drop. It’s already a common strat in high-level ranked. The initial gun scramble buys some time for everyone to react — JayBiebs (@RSPN_JayBiebs) November 13, 2021 Essentially, players dropping in with loot results in too many early game eliminations in which killed players have little to no chance of survival. The early-game scramble to loot essentially balances the game somewhat, spreading players out and letting them accumulate different equipment and weapons. While Respawn have reiterated their openness to change in terms of Apex’s weapon pool and looting, Larson’s response suggests any permanent adjustments to starting loot are still some way off, if they come at all.

  • Apex Legends dev doesn’t think Loba needs a buff in the current meta – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev doesn’t think Loba needs a buff in the current meta Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has revealed that they do not believe Loba needs any buffs and that the Translocating Thief is a strong pick in the current meta. While Loba has never been the most popular character in Apex Legends, she’s always maintained a steady pick rate in the Outlands, placing her in the middle of the pack when it comes to popularity. Although the Translocating Thief doesn’t have the mobility of Octane or the raw firepower of Rampart, she is an expert at collecting loot and kitting out her guns with the best attachments. Despite this, some Apex players think she could with a set of small buffs, with one of the most repeated ideas revolving around giving her the ability to collect a teammate’s banner with her Ultimate. Well, an Apex dev has responded to these requests and expressed that they think Loba doesn’t need any changes in the current meta. Apex Legends dev thinks Loba is strong in the current meta As Crypto can collect fallen teammates’ banners with his drone, a lot of Loba mains have been calling on Respawn to allow her to do the same with her Ultimate. Well, on May 4 Live Balance Designer John ‘JayBiebs’ Larson responded to a tweet asking for exactly that, and he disagreed that the Translocating Theif needs a buff in the current meta. Highlighting that Loba’s “power” comes from her ability to “get her squad looted up” throughout a match quickly, it’s obvious Respawn thinks she a strong and worthy addition to any squad. Jaybiebs even revealed that he’s always “stoked when there’s a Loba” on his team, as it makes it easy to secure the best attachments and get geared up before a gunfight. I don’t think Loba needs more of either of those things. Her ability to get her squad looted up throughout the match directly correlates to power in a BR, and data aside, I’d say it’s felt. I’m stoked when there’s a Loba on my team — JayBiebs (@RSPN_JayBiebs) May 4, 2022 Similar to Lifeline, it’s clear Respawn has no plans to buff Loba in the near future, at least while she retains a strong pick rate. With Newcastle arriving in Season 13, it’ll be interesting to see if any other characters on the roster fall down in popularity, especially if the Heroic Defender releases in an overpowered state. • Apex Legends dev dismisses secret Gibraltar buff claims for Season 11 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev dismisses secret Gibraltar buff claims for Season 11 Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends dev has shut down claims that Gibraltar has been given an unannounced buff in Season 11 after some players thought they’d spotted a change to his dome. Apex Legends Season 11: Escape is right around the corner, bringing a brand-new map in the form of Storm Point, as well as adding Titanfall’s Ash as a new legend, and the long-awaited arrival of the C.A.R SMG. In addition to all the new content, Respawn Entertainment have also made some much-needed changes to the current cast of characters – including buffs for Wattson and nerfs to Octane’s jump pad. With gameplay of the new changes doing the rounds ahead of its official launch, some players are suggested that Gibraltar would be buffed and that Respawn hadn’t announced it. Upon seeing some of the new changes in action, Complexity Gaming’s Anthony ‘Apryze’ Andrade suggested that Gibby’s Dome of Protection had been increased in size – especially vertically. Some Apex fans ran with that and spread the rumor across social media that the devs had buffed the popular legend but decided not to say anything. Naturally, some fans doubted the claim, suggesting that players were seeing a change that simply wasn’t there. One fan decided to go right to someone who would know – Respawn’s John ‘JayBiebs‘ Larson – for an answer. “This is fake news,” the associate live balance designer said, much to the relief of some players. Some fans quizzed Larson for more details, asking if the supposed change was maybe tested and scrapped, but they didn’t get an answer. Respawn have already updated their patch notes a few times after some changes were not listed in the first version – including the nerf to Octane’s jump pad – so other changes could appear before Season 11 goes live. But there won’t be one for Gibby.

  • Apex Legends dev defends Wraith nerfs coming in Season 8 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev defends Wraith nerfs coming in Season 8 Respawn EntertainmentJohn Larson, Live Balance Designer at Respawn Entertainment, has defended the changes Wraith is set to undergo in Apex Legends Season 8, following comments from Daniel Klein. Balancing legends has long been a contentious topic in the Apex Legends community, with mains of various characters keen to see buffs. The admission, for example, that Mirage will never be a top-tier character irked many of the legend’s biggest fans. The focus of the community is currently on Wraith, the Interdimensional Skirmisher who has long been in the upper-echelons of Apex Legends. However, comments from developer Daniel Klein about Respawn’s efforts to get Wraith “under control” in Season 8 led many to believe that she is set for significant nerfs. Unsurprisingly, this caused considerable discussion among Wraith players – and those sick of coming up against her. His comments generally revolved around fixing Wraith’s hitbox – rather than nerfing her equipment to any greater degree. However, many believe she has been nerfed enough and further weakening is not the correct response. Redditor ‘QuikScopeDash’ is one who took this stance, joking that they would main Crypto because Wraith has been nerfed so significantly. This prompted a lengthy reply from John Larson, a Live Balance Designer at Respawn. He prefixed his comment by explaining that he is a Wraith main and wants her to remain viable. “Wraith’s kit has been nerfed and tweaked more than any other legend’s, but her win rate and encounter win rate has remained an anomaly,” Larson said. “The common argument is that mechanically gifted players are drawn to her kit, but when we filter by skill brackets (rank, average damage, you name it) she’s still head and shoulders above everyone. So what does this mean?” Issues with Reddit moderation resulted in large portions of Larson’s comment being removed, but his point remained clear. Despite the various nerfs Wraith and her kit have suffered, her stats suggest she is still performing incredibly well. He went on to compare Wraith with Pathfinder, explaining that “we never want to nerf legends to the point where they lose their identity.” Many fear Wraith is approaching that point, and want the Voidwalker to remain as powerful as she’s always been.

  • Apex Legends dev debunks ‘leaked’ Rampart abilities – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev debunks ‘leaked’ Rampart abilities Respawn/EA[jwplayer y770CzB5]Apex Legends writer Tom Casiello has debunked rumors about Rampart’s previously ‘leaked’ abilities, noting that they’re pretty old. Ever since the first season of Apex Legends, there have been numerous leaks and rumors about the new legends that Respawn has lined up – including their supposed abilities, concept art, and more. As the hype is building for season six, fans of the battle royale are expectant of a new legend. Previous leaks have suggested that it would be either the ‘Valk/Nova’ character or the long-awaited Rampart. However, if it is to be Rampart, the character won’t be coming with the previously leaked abilities that have had fans raise an eyebrow as Apex Legends writer Tom Casiello put those rumors to bed. The writer had been tweeting with fans about the future of the battle royale – noting that there is some juicy Lifeline lore in the works and that the devs even have content that will be in the game in two years time. After one fan was called out for interrupting his impromptu Q & A with the ‘leaked’ abilities for Rampart – which includes the eye-brow raising mounted machine gun ultimate – Casiello quickly fired back. “He has the balls to reply with *old* leaked content,” the writer said. “Watch. Next, I bet he tells you Revenant’s original name was Nomad.” He has the balls to reply with *old* leaked content. Watch. Next, I bet he tells you Revenant’s original name was Nomad. 🤣🤣🤣 — Tom Casiello (@tommiecas) July 18, 2020 Given that the writer dismissed these abilities as being old, it would appear as Rampart is still coming at some point down the line, but with all-new abilities. What they would be, however, is anyone’s guess. Leakers have been spot on with finding out the abilities before legends are introduced – with Loba being the most recent example of that. So, it’ll be a case of wait and see if they can get their hands on more concrete files about the upcoming legends.

  • Apex Legends dev criticizes toxic players “insulting” Respawn developers – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev criticizes toxic players “insulting” Respawn developers Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends developer has highlighted ‘insulting treatment’ of the game’s developers from some in the player base, explaining that it forces some devs to avoid direct communication with the community. The relationship between Apex Legends players and the developers has been strained at times, especially around monetization issues, and a developer has opened up to give their side of the conversation. Some of the development team at Respawn now apparently avoid direct interaction with players based on the “treatment” they receive. Daniel Klein, a Senior Game Designer at Respawn, who focuses primarily on Legend balance can be found regularly interacting with Apex players on social media. However, on December 4, he criticized a small portion of the community who insult and personally criticize the devs behind Apex Legends. Klein was originally responding to a question from a player, asking if Respawn could “bring along someone who can speak to the pricing model, bundle trend, and generally horrible store?” “Negativity” from Apex Legends players The Respawn dev weighed in, responding: “No offense, but many of the people who make those decisions just don’t want to come to Reddit for how they’re treated here. It should be clear that it’s not in my job description to be here either: I do it because I want to, but I want to be very careful not to make it into an expectation for other devs.” While Klein made clear that he cannot speak for other devs, it is understandable that toxicity from even a minority of players could be very off-putting. Player feedback is an important part of any gaming community, but abusing or insulting devs is never acceptable. “Even if it’s not as bad as the stuff I quoted, the constant barrage of negativity and people telling you you suck at your job, asking for you to be fired, calling you names, etc,” he continued, “it will wear you down and people sometimes have serious psychological trauma when they feel pressured to expose themselves to this negativity even when they don’t feel up to it.” Responses to Klein’s comment were mixed. One Redditor argued that: “You’re basically saying, “some people at Respawn have thin skin and would rather avoid player feedback entirely than attempt to be accountable”. That’s pretty disheartening to read.” Klein, though, stuck by his comments, finishing: “I’m saying people aren’t getting paid to have insults yelled at them and I’m here as an extracurricular. No one owes you their time.” Healthy communication between devs and players is crucial to the success of any major game, but many players can often cross the line and discourage devs from responding publicly. The issues recently have stemmed from the arrangement of bundles in the Holo-Day Bash event. The bundles appear to deliberately put matching skins in different bundles, meaning players have to buy more than one bundle to acquire matching cosmetics. This follows an earlier controversy in Season 7 over changes to the battle pass system. Although changes have now been made, the pass initially took a lot longer to level up, which players thought was a deliberate ploy to encourage the purchase of levels with real money.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Wraith is no longer the most popular legend – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Wraith is no longer the most popular legend Respawn EntertainmentRespawn’s Lead Game Designer working on Apex Legends has confirmed that Interdimensional Skirmisher Wraith is no longer the game’s most popular character, for “pretty much” the first time since launch. While much has changed across Apex Legends’ eight seasons, the popularity of Wraith has been one constant. The Legend possesses the ability to open rifts between different locations, as well as hearing ‘voices from the void’, which warns her when danger is approaching. These abilities, paired with her smaller hitbox, have resulted in her being at the top of the Apex Legends’ roster, in terms of popularity and strength. Despite the addition of Low Profile (and Fortified for larger legends), she has retained her popularity and left Respawn scratching their heads as to how to balance her sufficiently. As part of their strategy to make her more balanced, Respawn chose to slightly increase her hitbox at the beginning of Season 8. It appears that these nerfs had a serious impact on her position in Apex Legends. Read More: Apex Legends voice actors for all characters – During a discussion focusing on Caustic’s balance, Klein revealed that the Wraith nerf has seen her drop from the most picked character by some distance, to the fourth-most popular choice. “[Caustic’s] pick rate had always been a solid middle of the pack one,” he said, “but with the introduction of Fuse and the Wraith nerf shaking pick rates up a bit (Wraith went from highest, where she’d been for pretty much all of Apex’s existence, to fourth highest!), Caustic now sports the 5th highest pick rate as well.” One can assume, then, that Fuse, Wraith and Caustic occupy three of the top five most picked legends. Lifeline, Gibraltar, Bloodhound and Horizon seem like candidates to be in or around the top five, but we won’t know for certain unless Respawn choose to disclose a more detailed list. Horizon will undoubtedly be right near the top, likely number one overall. Meanwhile, out-of-favor characters like Rampart wallow at the bottom, but Respawn have confirmed more buffs are coming. What is certain, though, is that Wraith’s popularity has finally taken a significant hit thanks to her Season 8 nerf.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Wraith changes are coming in next update – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Wraith changes are coming in next update Respawn/EA[jwplayer UQowmNq2]Apex Legends developer Jason McCord has confirmed that Wraith is in for some changes once the Lost Treasures Collection Event update rolls out on June 23. Ever since Apex Legends went live in February of 2019, Wraith has been one of the most-used and popular characters. The Interdimensional Skirmisher has been the source of inspiration for plenty of cosplays and incredible skin concepts, and, most importantly of all, can usually be found in the winner’s circle after a game. However, with the Lost Treasures Collection Event update almost upon us, the battle royale is set to receive a bit of a shake-up. Developers have confirmed that Lifeline will be reworked and Octane will be tweaked, and now it’s been confirmed that Wraith will join them in being tweaked. The confirmation came after fans were quizzing Jason McCord, Design Director on Apex Legends, about which characters would receive tweaks. While he remained pretty quiet on a few, pointing towards the upcoming patch notes, he did answer a question on Wraith. “Some tweaks to her kit, yes,” McCord replied to a question about a potential buff to the Interdimensional Skirmisher. Despite being pressed for a follow-up, the dev didn’t anything else outside of “look for patch notes before the event goes live.” But, crucially, McCord doesn’t state whether they will be a buff, nerf, or maybe sideways change to her abilities. Currently, Wraith is already by far the most popular Legend, so a buff would be surprising. Some tweaks to her kit, yes. Look for patch notes before the event goes live. — Jason McCord (@Monsterclip_JM) June 20, 2020 Of course, the “kit” that McCord is referring to is just Wraith’s abilities. With a change in the offing, it could be anything from an tweak to the time she has to run with the void, an addition to her Voices from the Void sounds, or a change to the cooldown on her ultimate. Overall, Wraith’s change might not as significant as Lifeline, who McCord himself confirmed would be able to revive two downed teammates at once when her rework goes live. However, Wraith mains will just have to wait and see what comes from the Lost Treasures update.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Titanfall connections in Season 20’s story – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Titanfall connections in Season 20’s story YouTube: Apex LegendsApex Legends devs have confirmed Titanfall’s connections in the Season 20 story after the initial trailer’s teaser of the Time Gauntlet. Before creating Apex Legends, most gamers knew Respawn for their beloved Titanfall series that they broke into the industry with, a series that very much influenced Apex’s gameplay as a whole. It is no surprise considering Apex is set in Titanfall’s universe lore-wise, taking place well after the events of the game. However, direct crossovers and connections between the games are quite rare, other than the odd reference. Though now with Apex gearing up for its Season 20 launch, one of the biggest updates yet. the devs have confirmed the Season’s ties with Titanfall, with Horizon taking centre stage. In an interview with GameSpot, Apex Lead Writer Ashley Reed confirmed that the teased Time Gauntlet in Season 20’s trailer will be part of Season 20’s overarching storyline. “You’re on the right track; I think you saw it,” Reed told GameSpot after they asked about the Gauntlet in the trailer. “You get a little hint that something’s going on with Horizon [in the launch trailer]. It may be worth looking at that shot again from the end of the trailer.” The short teaser can be seen at the end of the trailer in which we see Horizon somberly looking at a part of the Time Gauntlet from Titanfall. Given that her lore centers around finding a way to time-travel back to her son, it’s fitting she’s the center of the story. Reed further revealed in the interview that Horizon will not only be the center of the game’s narrative arc, with Ash potentially being part of it as well. Season 20 of Apex Legends is set to start on February 13. You can read more about what to expect in the new season here.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms “time is coming” for major Seer nerfs – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms “time is coming” for major Seer nerfs Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed Seer will be receiving nerfs in the near future, reassuring fans that his “time is coming”. Recon characters in Apex Legends are invaluable to a squad, especially those that are equipped with scans that reveal the exact position of enemies. This is exactly what makes Seer such a powerful Legend in the Outlands, as every single one of his abilities can be used to track down foes. Not only that, he’s been seeing a huge amount of play in the ALGS and the upper echelons of Ranked, with him currently sitting at an 8.4% pick rate in Master and Predator. While this is great for Ambush Masters mains, the rest of the community has voiced their concerns about Seer in recent seasons, calling on Respawn to nerf his kit. Well, an Apex Legends dev has addressed the topic on Twitter and confirmed he will receive a nerf soon. Apex Legends dev confirms Seer nerfs are coming soon During a Twitter discussion about Gentlemen’s Agreement and whether Apex pros should be able to ban certain Legends or weapons as a collective, Seer was brought up as an example of a character who would likely be banned if this was allowed by Jon Kefaloukos. In response, Senior Producer at Respawn Josh Medina expressed that he wouldn’t like GAs to be part of pro Apex. Instead, as a dev team, they’d prefer to address the issues rather than force pros to ban what is broken in the current meta. As expected, this sparked a huge amount of backlash from players who asked Medina why Seer hadn’t been nerfed yet. Rather than ignoring players, Medina addressed fans directly by confirming that he knows “1 legend in particular right now” is causing a lot of frustration. Referencing Seer, he revealed that the community can be reassured that “everyone’s time is coming including his”. So, it’s safe to say we can assume Respawn has already laid out plans to nerf Seer in an upcoming update. Whether that’s in the Collection Event that’s just around the corner, or Season 16 is impossible to know. However, it’s great to see the devs taking on feedback and with Medina saying that the balance changes are “part of a bigger picture”, it’s likely Seer won’t be the only Legend hit with significant alterations.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms they’re working on Ranked to fix Season 13 problems – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms they’re working on Ranked to fix Season 13 problems Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has acknowledged the problems affecting Ranked in Season 13 and has confirmed the “team is actively working on improving it.” Season 13 of Apex Legends introduced the Downed Beast POI on Storm Point, IMC Armories, and of course, the Heroic Defender Newcastle. While all of these additions received an overwhelming amount of praise from the community, the Ranked Reloaded changes that reworked the competitive mode have been heavily criticized by players. The primary complaint is that matches are often stale until the endgame and lobbies are regularly unbalanced with Diamonds, Masters, and even Predators being pit against lower-tier competitors. Well, in a recent interview with The Loadout, a dev acknowledged the problems affecting Ranked and confirmed changes are in the works. Apex dev confirms fix is coming for unbalanced Ranked matches Speaking to The Loadout, Apex Legends Design Director Evan Nikolich spoke about the Ranked Reloaded patch, revealing what they thought the rework achieved, and what areas need improvements in the future. In terms of positives, Nikolich thinks the “degenerative strategies” that made it too easy to climb in Season 12 Ranked have been removed. However, they also acknowledged that there are too many “high-skilled players sitting in lower ranks for too long”, resulting in unbalanced matches for a lot of the community. In response, Respawn will be looking at “separating out the skill tiers faster” which will in turn lead to more balanced matches between players of an equal skill level. “We have improved over Season 12 where it was too easy to climb with degenerative strategies, but in Season 13 we have a number of high-skilled players sitting in lower ranks for too long…We need to get better at separating out the skill tiers faster, and the team is actively working on improving it.” In terms of a timeline, Nikolich didn’t reveal when we could expect to see the changes the team is “actively working” on. However, as Ranked is such a huge part of the Apex experience, it’s possible the improvements could arrive in Season 14. Either way, it’s great to see the devs have heard the community’s complaints and are working on improving the overall competitive experience.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms they’re “not removing” tap strafing but changes still planned – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms they’re “not removing” tap strafing but changes still planned Respawn EntertainmentThe tap-strafing movement mechanic has become a highly controversial topic in the Apex Legends community. Even though Respawn initially announced its removal in an upcoming patch, a dev has since confirmed that it would be “tuned” instead. When it was announced that tap-strafing would be removed due to it being a “design problem”, many players were up in arms. This resulted in Respawn further delaying the scheduled patch. However, in an interview with John Larson, the game‘s Live Balance Designer, the developer said that tap-strafing will not be removed in Apex Legends, simply tuned. Respawn is “not removing” tap-strafing While many players believed that the ability to tap-strafe would eventually be removed, the dev team has moved to reassured players that Respawn isn’t removing the mechanic and that there will “still be capabilities that you could do with tap-strafing”. Larson went further, stating that before any major tap-strafing changes can be made in Apex Legends, Respawn will require more feedback from skilled players and pros, as well as more data from internal playtesting sessions. “With something as sensitive as movement,” Larson stated, “we want to make sure we get it right. I’m personally not in a rush to get it out…and as someone who plays on controller…I really rely on input from all the devs that are into movement and other pro players”. The related segment begins at 9:10 in the video below. Larson ended by encouraging players to refer to his blog post which goes into in-depth detail on the reasoning behind the need for a tap-strafing change in Apex Legends. He stated: “I can’t provide a specific date (for the tap-strafing changes) but it’s something we feel comfortable with tuning for the reasons I’ve detailed in the blog post, which is something I encourage anyone to revisit”. • Apex Legends dev confirms self-revive changes coming soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms self-revive changes coming soon Respawn EntertainmentRespawn producer Josh Medina has revealed that changes will be made to the legendary Knockdown Shield’s self resurrection capabilities following demand from Apex Legends players. Apex Legends maintains a tier-based looting system with different colors used to signify the strength of weapons or armor, with all legendary items marked with a gold tint. As well as providing more protection than other gear, legendary armor pieces can come with unique passive abilities that can give players the edge in a tough situation. Apex Legends players with a legendary knockdown shield are given the chance to self resurrect once they’ve been knocked, however, not all players are happy with the current state of the passive. TSM pro player Reps called for changes to the self revive, suggesting that it should only be possible to use once one of your teammates is still alive in the arena. “Make self rez only work if at least 1 of your teammates is alive. Maybe increase the speed of using it slightly. Actually so sick of this item in competitive,” he explained, revealing frustrations with the legendary shield. Yeah, you can completely wipe a team in a top 3 scenario and still get 3rd place because of self res since the other team will third party your fight. Not only do you lose placement points, but you lose all 3 kill points. — TSM_Albralelie (@TSM_Albralelie) May 31, 2020 Reps’ teammate Albralelie also highlighted that the self revive kits could cost you quite a lot in the late game, with some final kills and placements not counting due to opponents having this Legendary shield. Respawn making changes to self-revive Respawn has been aware of the potential problems that the legendary knockdown shield can cause, with Apex Legends dev Josh Medina explaining that changes are coming soon. We hear y’all some adjustments will be coming sooooon.. pic.twitter.com/S4ARyVjbf8 — josh medina (@lowkeydbjosh) May 31, 2020 While it is still unclear what the exact changes Respawn has planned are, it is likely to address some of the problems that players have been having with this passive ability. It’s possible that they follow the pro players’ advice and speed it up while also requiring a teammate still be alive. However, what competitive players want and what casual players want are often two different things. Respawn are now tasked with making a change that suits all types of players, which is always a daunting task.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8 already in development – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Seasons 5, 6, 7 and 8 already in development Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends players may still be enjoying the end of Season 4, but according to Respawn developers, there are already plans for Seasons 5, 6, 7, and 8. In fact, they might even include some Titanfall 2 content as well. Apex’s fourth season has been a smash-hit so far. First, blood-soaked robot Revenant joined the battle royale’s extended roster. Mid-split, ranked switched to King’s Canyon. Now, World’s Edge is hosting Bloodhound’s Town Takeover. Already, however, eyes are turning to the title’s fifth season. That’s not all Respawn has in the pipe right now though — according to design director Jason McCord, Apex’s devs are hard at work on the next three seasons beyond that too. “We are updating the game as fast as we can. We literally can’t do anymore, and we have a lot of stuff planned that people want – but it takes a lot of time. There’s nothing to be done about that,” McCord said on Twitter on April 6. McCord’s statement came after a deluge of comments from the Apex community on Twitter regarding how slow Respawn was often perceived as being when it came to huge changes to their ongoing Apex Legends franchise. That perspective seems pretty unfair, the battle royale’s lead game designer said, especially when the dev team was “hard at work” constantly on new content. That includes future guns, legends, and planned balance changes. “Stick with us…” McCord continued. He also revealed just how far ahead the devs are compared to the live game-state. “We are literally testing content for Season 5, 6, 7 and 8 regularly. We have LOTS coming, and aren’t going anywhere.” And for a fun anecdote, we are literally testing content for Season 5, 6, 7 and 8 regularly. We have LOTS coming, and aren’t going anywhere. — Jason McCord (@Monsterclip_JM) April 6, 2020 Respawn teases more Titanfall content for Apex Legends Of course, fans may be more interested in what is coming in those next four seasons, rather than just hearing they’re on the way. In that regard, Respawn has remained more quiet — that is, outside of a major Titanfall tease. “We’re always bringing in stuff from the Titanfall universe,” Apex game director Chad Grenier and general manager Dusty Welch said on future content in an interview with Game Informer for the magazine’s 324th print issue. “We built an awesome world in Titanfall and want to make sure we’re bringing that forward,” Grenier continued, before teasing a slice of new content. “I will say this — there could be a pleasant surprise for Titanfall fans in Season 5.” There could well be a few answers to Grenier’s riddle. We’ve seen Prowlers, local to Titanfall’s Leviathan planet, arrive in Bloodhound’s Town Takeover already. There’s also rumors hardy South African pilot Blisk could be a future legend. Months ago, leakers also dug up code suggesting Titanfall’s energy submachine gun the Volt could be arriving in Apex during the title’s fourth season. Instead, we got the Sentinel sniper, but the Volt SMG could still be on the horizon. When will Apex’s future seasons actually launch? With at least four more seasons on the horizon, it’s easy to get excited for all the brand-new content Apex players will get their hands on. What we have to remember, though, is Apex is quite slow with how they drop updates. Season 5 is the easiest to predict. Season 4 is slated to finish on May 5 — just under a month away — meaning that’s when the fifth season should start. Beyond that, it becomes a bit more of a guessing game. Season 1 ran from March 19 to June 18 (91 days), before Season 2 kicked off on July 2. Apex’s lengthy third season launched in October. Season 4 dropped February 4. A standard season seems to last around 90 days, unless it lands across Christmas. Those last a little longer than the usual content run. That means the best guesses for when the next season drops are as follows: Potential Apex season release dates Fifth Season — May 5, 2020 – Sixth Season — August, 2020 – Seventh Season — November, 2020 – Eighth Season — February, 2021 – Taking Season 7’s potential Christmas extension into account, we’re looking at brand new Apex content all the way until the end of April 2021. It’s no small surprise, then, that McCord says the devs have “a lot coming” in the future. For now though, we’re still right in the middle of Season 4. There’s still a month to go for the ranked split, as well as two weeks of Bloodhound’s titular event. So, stay patient! Respawn has promised plenty more to come, and they’re sure to deliver — as more details on the next four Apex Legends seasons are revealed, you can be sure we’ll have all the info right here at Dexerto.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms SBMM, explains why it’s actually more popular – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms SBMM, explains why it’s actually more popular Respawn/EAApex Legends players have gotten proof that skill-based matchmaking exists in unranked lobbies. Fans are split on if this is a good thing for the game or not. Many games have added skill-based matchmaking to their game in 2019, Fortnite and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare being two of the biggest, and now there is evidence that it has made its way to Apex Legends. Of course, Apex Legends does have its own ranked playlist where the competitive players can play, while players who didn’t want to grind would have had the chance to play in the unranked lobbies. It seems like all of that has come to an end as a developer has confirmed some form of SBMM exists in Apex Legends. This system is implemented to make the matches feel more balanced as you’ll be matched up with players of similar skill, but it comes with its share of issues. The main problem is it essentially eliminates casual play since you’ll be going against people just as skilled as you. Apex Legends dev Eric Hewitt confirmed to a player on Twitter that SBMM is in the game, and has been since the end of Season 2, but admitted it could still need some additional tweaking. He even says adding in SBMM helps player retention across all games, which can be surprising information to many critics of the system. SBMM will become the norm for most MP games, as there is indisputable evidence through data that it helps out something like 80-90% of the community with retention for most of those games… which hurts us 10%’ers, I know. Still though, ours might need some tuning potentially — Eric Hewitt / Ghost (@GH057ayame) November 24, 2019 pretty sure something was turned on before the end of Season 2, but I’d have to ask the team about specifics and updates — Eric Hewitt / Ghost (@GH057ayame) November 24, 2019 Michael Kalas, another Apex Legends dev, confirms that the SBMM has nothing to do with your ranked play, but instead takes gunplay metrics into play, which presumably means accuracy, kills, basically things that will take into account of how good of a play you are and not necessarily just wins. In all seriousness, it’s NOT based on Ranked, but performance in any 3s contributes. What performance means is always in flux, but I imagine it is always based on gunplay metrics. — Michael Kalas (@thezilch) November 23, 2019 As Hewitt says, SBMM is slowly becoming the norm for many other games, but players have been critical of those decisions as well. Apex players have already started up the discussion about its place in the game on Reddit. Comment byu/exhibit304 from discussion inapexlegends For what it’s worth, SBMM does have its share of pros and cons. The major pro is it will effectively put an end to the new players being dominated by the better ones, so it makes a better experience for them. On the other hand, newer players will have a tough time playing with their more experienced friends since they’ll be put into tougher lobbies. SBMM can potentially create longer queue times which means players will be waiting more and playing less. The more skilled you become, the longer the waits are, which isn’t a whole lot of fun for anyone. With additional tweaking on the way, it’s possible we could see some improvements coming on that end. As it is right now, it’s clear that some players are for the implementation of SBMM while others are not. It will be interesting to see if Respawn can find a common ground for it going forward.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Ranked changes are coming in Season 13 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Ranked changes are coming in Season 13 Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has hinted that significant Ranked changes are coming in Season 13, and it’s got the community extremely excited. Apex Legends is a competitive game at its heart, which means the majority of players are always looking to perform at their best in-game and pick up the next victory. Although public matches are enough for a lot of the community, others prefer more of a challenge where they can test out their skills against opponents of a similar level, and that’s where Ranked comes in. Unfortunately, in recent seasons, the mode has received a lot of criticism from pros and players alike, all calling on Respawn to implement drastic changes. Now, finally, a dev has dropped a hint that a Ranked update is going to arrive in Season 13. Apex Legends Ranked changes coming in Season 13 Responding to a tweet showcasing the Ranked distribution in Halo, LoL, and Apex, Respawn producer Josh Medina dropped a big hint regarding Ranked in Season 13. With some Twitter users referencing the SaveApexRanked hashtag in the comments, Josh decided to indirectly confirm that Ranked changes were coming next season. Although he didn’t share any specific details or reveal whether it was going to be an overhaul, the fact that he suggests that the update is going to save Ranked implies it’s going to be significant. “We better get a hashtag come season 13 that says #ThanksRespawnForSavingApexRanked.” We better get a hashtag come season 13 that says #ThanksRespawnForSavingApexRanked — Josh Medina (@lowkeydbjosh) March 17, 2022 It’s safe to say this is huge news for the Ranked community that has been asking the devs for changes nonstop recently. We’ll have to wait and see whether Respawn chooses to add all of the requested features, including unique rewards, demotion, and better matchmaking. Either way, with Season 13 on the horizon, there isn’t a very long wait before we find out how the devs are going to finally “save” Apex’s Ranked mode.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Rampart buff coming in Season 7 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Rampart buff coming in Season 7 Respawn EntertainmentRampart has been a little underwhelming since joining the Apex Legends roster, but she’s in for a nice buff in the Season 7 update and fans have been trying to guess what it might include. [jwplayer rSmq5Fo4] Apex Legends introduced Rampart back in Season 6, and although she seemed enticing at first, she quickly fell out of favor. Players voiced their concerns on social media, describing her as ‘weak’ and ‘broken.’ “Am I tripping or is she seriously weak?” said a player in a Reddit thread. “She is one of the worst in the game,” said another. Of course, it’s not all whining and complaining. One player took it a step further and tried to pinpoint exactly what he thought the problem was. “Her accuracy on the turret is broken,” he said. The list goes on, and on, and on. Most of the criticism seems to revolve around her ultimate. The consensus is that while her minigun makes her powerful, it leaves her vulnerable. Rampart buff confirmed As a discussion took place over what players can expect in the October 22 update, a user on Reddit said they would “love to hear about Rampart’s buff.” They also wanted to know about potential Mirage changes. Respawn game designer Daniel Klien, who focuses on Legend changes, responded, saying, “Both of those are in! Keep an eye out for the patch notes; I don’t wanna spoil stuff before.” Nobody knows exactly what the buff will entail, but it’s fair to say that players would be open to just about anything at this point. Some of the suggestions have been great, so it’s possible that one or more of them will come to fruition. Potential Rampart buffs? It’s erupted into quite a discussion, and players have bounced around ideas on how she can be improved. Some suggested she should be able to hold her minigun like a heavy weapon but with a small movement penalty. That way, she’d be less vulnerable and it would fix the issue. Others thought that would be a bit much and potentially make her overpowered. Instead, they think she should be able to pick up and drop the minigun at will. Either way, Apex Legends players have made it pretty clear that Rampart needs a buff. Thankfully, their prayers have been answered. Apex Legends Season 7 is set to begin on November 10!

  • Apex Legends dev confirms plans to add in-game leaderboards – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms plans to add in-game leaderboards Respawn Entertainment / EARespawn is always on the lookout for player feedback on how to improve the Apex Legends experience, and one of the developers has confirmed a highly requested feature is on their radar: in-game leaderboards. One thing Respawn Entertainment has always prided themselves on is maintaining open dialogue with their fans. The developer has confirmed time and time again that they love engaging with Apex Legends players and taking in their feedback. While Respawn can’t implement every single piece of feedback from their community, listening to suggestions from their players has been an important part of tweaking different features, like making Evo Shields permanent after their introduction during the System Override event. One frequent request is in-game leaderboards, a feature the community has been asking for since the game’s release. As an update, Respawn has confirmed the highly requested feature is on a list of things they’d like to add. Leaderboards coming to Apex In an exchange on Twitter, the developer was asked about their plans to implement an in-game leaderboard system. “RP (ranked points) leaderboards would be very helpful for figuring out [Apex] Predator entry [level] each season,” a player noted in their question to the dev. Respawn’s Chin Xiang Chong did confirm they have plans to implement leaderboards into the game at some point. “It’s on a list of things we’d like to do,” the developer stated, but also noted that in comparison to other features and requests, leaderboards are still fairly low on their checklist. Yep, it’s on a list of things we’d like to do. Unfortunately the list is very long and time and resources are limited, so it’s ultimately a question of priorities, and unfortunately, compared to, say, cross play, this was lower priority. — Chin Xiang Chong 张晋翔 (@tangentiallogic) March 19, 2021 “It’s ultimately a question of priorities,” they explained, and went on to clarify that “compared to, say, cross play, [adding in-game leaderboards] was lower priority.” Cross-play is now fully implemented in to Apex, so hopefully leaderboards have moved up in the priority list. While some fans might be disappointed to hear that adding this system into the BR isn’t the first thing on Respawn’s to-do list, they can at least take comfort in the fact that it is being worked on at all. This is far from the first time the Apex community has asked for this particular feature to be added to the game. As early as February 2019 (when the game was originally released) players have been asking the developer to add leaderboards into the battle royale. The feature has remained in high demand among pro players and content creators as well. In a series of tweets from March 2021, content creator and pro player Jamison ‘PVPX’ Moore identified in-game leaderboards as one of 50 different ideas that could improve Respawn’s BR. Day #2 of #10 – 5 Apex Ideas 1) Using Firing Range while in que 2) Add killfeed for spectating teammates 3) In-Game Leaderboard 4) Remove all white items from loot table (locked n loaded LTM into all modes) 5) Preselect your 3 legends in main menu— FURIA Jxmo (@Jxmo_1) March 5, 2021 While the developer has yet to confirm when the feature is coming (or what it will look like), fans will be happy to know the studio is aware of the popular request and working to get it added into Apex so players can see exactly how they stack up against their opponents.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms plans for Arenas weapon price changes – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms plans for Arenas weapon price changes Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends developer has confirmed that they’re already planning to make changes to Arenas, especially when it comes to weapon prices, that they hope to release sooner rather than later. With the start of Season 9: Legacy, Respawn Entertainment added a round-based mode called Arenas to Apex Legends. The three-on-three mode puts players in small areas from the battle royale’s usual maps, with the goal being to eliminate the other team before the circle closes in. Just like Counter-Strike and Valorant, there is somewhat of an economy to deal with in the mode, and you do have to pick your spots when it comes to buying weapons and equipment. However, price changes are coming. During the Season 9: Legacy AMA on the Apex Legends subreddit, the devs were quizzed on a whole range of topics, with them giving out information on what legends are being tweaked next. In amongst all those comments, some fans had questions about Arenas and whether changes would be coming, seeing as there is a bit of an imbalance with the current pricing. “Yeah definitely. I’m working on a balance pass that I’d like to push live sooner rather than later,” said Respawn’s Robert West about upcoming price changes. “We’ll continue balancing as we go and of course update with new seasons as new content comes out and along with our usual weapon and legend meta changes.” Comment byu/rkrigney from discussion inapexlegends Just like the normal battle royale mode, Arenas will be balanced according to the meta. If something gets out of hand and becomes too powerful, it’ll get changed. As for when these planned will be coming, we’ll just have to wait and see.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Pathfinder grapple change coming in Season 7 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Pathfinder grapple change coming in Season 7 Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that Pathfinder’s grapple cooldown is set to undergo a change once the Season 7 patch drops. [jwplayer ePrNLj8A] As the Apex Legends seasons have unfolded, Respawn Entertainment have made changes to each character – be it to make them a more viable option to use, or to bring them back down to earth because they’re too powerful. These changes typically come at the start of a new season, but when something seems out of place – like Pathfinder’s long grapple cooldown that has caused the pick rate of the typically extremely popular character to dip quite a bit. With Season 6 drawing to a close, a change for the cooldown on Pathfinder’s grapple has been the biggest talking point after it was changed from the typical 15 seconds to around 40 seconds. Players have begged Respawn for changes for some time, but with Season 6 drawing to a close, they’ll have to wait until the new season for a change. Responding to fan questions on Reddit, Apex Legends dev Daniel Klein confirmed that Pathfinder’s cooldown is in the works. “This patch!” Klein said, responding to a question about changes to the cooldown. “To be clear, that’s the Season 7 patch, coming soon.” While Klein has given lengthy answers in the past about changes coming to Apex, he didn’t add anything else to his Pathfinder answers, instead, moving to answer questions about other changes as well as detailing why wall-running wouldn’t work in Apex. On top of the change to Pathfinder, Klein also confirmed that Octane is set for a “tiny buff” with the start of Season 7. Though, he did not hint at what the change to the adrenaline junkie would be. However, there isn’t all that long left in terms of a wait to see what Respawn has in store with Season 7. Unless there is a last-minute delay or change, the new patch is set to drop on November 4.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Pathfinder buff coming “soon” – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Pathfinder buff coming “soon” Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends producer Josh Medina has confirmed that fan-favorite character Pathfinder will be getting some “love” soon, as players eagerly await improvements to his abilities. Since he was nerfed into oblivion in Apex Legends, with a 35 second cooldown on his grapple ability, Pathfinder mains have been (impatiently) waiting on some kind of buff to bring the friendly robot back into meta contention. Admittedly, he was probably too strong before the nerf, with only a 15-second cooldown on his grapple, allowing him unrivaled mobility. His slender frame already makes him a slippery target, but increasing the grapple cooldown to 35 seconds was just a little too long in the eyes of most players. It immediately resulted in Pathfinder becoming a less popular pick, falling from 22% to 10% in Season 5. The devs remained firm on their decision though, and he was given no buff in Season 6. In fact, the devs even trolled a bit, with the patch notes for Pathfinder simply reading ‘Hi friend!’. Pathfinder “love” coming soon Thankfully, Pathfinder mains are in luck. A developer has responded to the community’s wishes, albeit through unexpected channels. When a troll pretended to be a developer and jokingly reveal a buff was coming for Pathfinder, the dev in question, Josh Medina, gave the good news. SoaR player Daltoosh said that, even though it was only a troll, the fake buff did “raise some good points.” “He’s gonna get some love soon,” Medina responded, confirming that at the very least, Pathfinder improvements are planned. However, we wouldn’t get our hopes up for any massive reduction in the grapple cooldown. Although Respawn may reduce it slightly, it’s more likely that we see improvements to other parts of Pathfinder’s kit. Ideally, players will just want him to come back into the meta in a more healthy way, as even the biggest Pathfinder fanboys will have to admit that his previous grapple cooldown was a bit too short. The next major update for Apex Legends may not be until October though, so for now, Pathfinder players will have to stick it out as he is.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms no new weapon coming in Season 5 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms no new weapon coming in Season 5 Respawn EntertainmentA producer at Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that players won’t be seeing a new weapon in Apex Legends Season 5: Fortune’s Favor, despite widespread speculation ahead of the May 8 gameplay trailer. The Apex Legends Season 5 gameplay trailer finally dropped on May 8, and while it provided a look at an all-new PvE mode, among other things, there was also no sign of a new gun to be seen. This wasn’t just an oversight by Respawn though, as Apex Legends producer Josh Medina confirmed that there’s, in fact, no new weapon coming in Season 5. 1. Confirmed no new weapon 2. Yessss 😏 3. new blog covers this 4. I think we’ll have rotation on but maybe a bit modifiedSeee you Tuesdayyyyy pic.twitter.com/fwdHNtsJPY — Josh Medina (@lowkeydbjosh) May 8, 2020 Every Apex Legends season so far has debuted a new weapon, and there had been a ton of speculation in recent weeks that we would be seeing the Volt SMG from Respawn’s Titanfall series arrive as part of Season 5. We even saw multiple leaked skins for the upcoming weapon, which at the time all but confirmed for a lot of people that it would be arriving when Fortune’s Favor kicks off on May 12. But it seems like players will have to wait a little longer for the new energy sub-machine gun if one of Apex’s devs has come out and said straight up that it’s not happening. That said, we could be in for a surprise, as Medina was originally asked if there was “no new weapon to start the season”, which could leave the door open for the Volt arriving sometime later on. Exactly when that could be is obviously unknown, since the very idea that it will get here later than usual is still just speculation, for now. With skins for the Volt already in Apex’s game files though, it’s very likely that the weapon will be added sometime in the future, but whether it’s going to happen in Season 5 or 6 remains to be seen. Despite no new weapon to kick things off, at least we’ll finally get to try out Loba and see what her kit of abilities actually has to offer. Season 5 of Apex Legends is set to kick off on May 12 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, so it won’t be very long at all before we can hop in and try out all of the new content.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms new Bloodhound skydive emotes coming soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms new Bloodhound skydive emotes coming soon Respawn Entertainment[jwplayer VEi3mnK7] Bloodhound players are in luck, as a developer from Respawn has confirmed the legend will be getting a new skydive emote sometime soon. Skydive emotes are unique to Apex and are exactly what they sound like — moves you can throw out and use while dropping into the map to spice things up. To date, Bloodhound has two of these so far called “Stoic Stance” and “Nevermore,” the latter of which is arguably one of the coolest looking in the game, surrounding them with a flock of ravens. Both can be seen right at the start of the video below: New Bloodhound skydive emotes coming soon After one Apex Legends player took a wild shot in the dark on Twitter asking if Bloodhound had, or would be getting any new skydive moves, Respawn dev Jason McCord actually responded. “Bloodhound has a few skydive emotes already. The one where the flock of crows circles them is my favorite,” McCord replied. “I’ve seen another one coming soon. Either in the next event or Season 8, I don’t remember. Hang tight.” The “next event” here is definitely the Fight Night collection event. While we don’t have an official starting date for it just yet, it will most likely start on Tuesday, January 5, a week after the new Stories from the Outlands featuring Pathfinder comes out. Bloodhound has a few skydive emotes already. The one where the flock of crows circles them is my favorite. I’ve seen another one coming soon. Either in the next event or Season 8, I don’t remember. Hang tight.— Jason McCord (@MonsterclipRSPN) December 28, 2020 If you want to get the new Bloodhound skydive emote, whatever it ends up looking like and whatever the cost is, be sure to do so during the event because it most likely won’t be able to be unlocked afterward. Nevermore, for example, was only around for the System Override event and hasn’t been available since. There’s still potential for leakers to find out exactly what this new emote will look like before it arrives in Fight Night or Season 8 as they always seem to do, but for those who don’t want to spoil the surprise, it still good news that something is coming, at least.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms “lots of progress” on audio ahead of Season 7 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms “lots of progress” on audio ahead of Season 7 Respawn Entertainment/EAAhead of the game’s Season 7 update, set to start on November 4, one of the Apex Legends developers has provided a small but meaningful update on the audio issues that have been plaguing the game for a while now. [jwplayer KEHOOBWR] Of course, the new season will bring a slew of new content, including a new Legend, but just as important are buffs, nerfs, and bug fixes. One of the most pressing problems in the game right now is the audio. While a number of different issues are plaguing the sound, the most notable is that sometimes there’s a lack of audio for enemy footsteps. Understandably, this is causing some major frustrations for players, as that can lead to easy deaths. Luckily, it seems like the solution is just around the corner. According to Apex Legends Game Director Chad Grenier in a Reddit post, the audio team has made “lots of progress” when it comes to the audio issues. Unfortunately, however, he didn’t go into any specific detail about the actual “progress” that has been made. In addition, he also hinted that at least some of the audio issues should be fixed during the game’s Season 7 update, although some of the others will have to wait until “just after Season 7”. Grenier didn’t provide an update as to when that second update will come, meaning it could be anywhere from a week after the first patch to a month after. That last part is sure to disappoint some players who were hoping that all of them would be fixed at the same time but at least some progress is better than no progress. Either way, fans won’t have to wait too long for the first round of fixes, as Apex Legends Season 7 is set to drop on November 4, 2020.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms “long-standing request” is coming in Season 9 for badges – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms “long-standing request” is coming in Season 9 for badges Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends developer has confirmed that a long-awaited change to the badge system is coming in Season 9, but they haven’t revealed what exactly it’ll be. Just like any other multiplayer title, Apex Legends has gone through its fair share of updates since it first released over two years ago. Many of these changes have been major ones – new character, new maps, new weapons, ability changes, and weapon tweaks – but players are also after small changes. Changes that make life a little bit easier in-game. A few requests for quality of life changes – like being able to clear all new notifications, damage counter, and changing the colorblind mode to help more people – have been implemented, but players always want more. Well, once Apex Legends Season 9 rolls around, they’ll be getting more of these smaller changes – with one dev confirming that badges will be getting a bit of love. After the Chaos Theory event trailer went live, some players raved about the fact that badge progress would be coming as a new quality of life addition – prompting the devs to tease their bigger change.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Loba’s Season 9 changes: Ultimate & Tactical – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Loba’s Season 9 changes: Ultimate & Tactical Respawn/EARespawn Entertainment has revealed the changes they’re making to Loba in Season 9, confirming fixes for her constantly bugged bracelet, Quality of Life improvements, as well as a “light” nerf to her Black Market Boutique ultimate. When Loba was introduced to Apex Legends in Season 5, she didn’t quite hit the top tier of legends. She settled in around the middle of the pack, but got still plenty of playtime because of her abilities. Being able to jump across the map with her bracelet, as well as steal loot with her fast charging ultimate, was a pretty big step compared to some of the other abilities in the battle royale. As time has gone on, though, Loba has become somewhat useless because of her bracelet, her tactical ability, simply not working at all. Respawn has rolled out a few fixes since, but nothing has fully stuck, which means a bigger change is in order. She’ll be part of the group of Legends being changed in Season 9. According to Daniel Klein, a Senior Game Designer at Respawn, plenty of the bracelet issues are going to be fixed in the future. Replying in a discussion on Twitch, Klein said Loba will get “a sh*t ton of bug fixes for [her] bracelet” but it won’t fix everything just yet. The Respawn dev also noted that there will be “some” quality of life changes to the bracelet ability too, as well as a “light” nerf for her ultimate, Black Market Boutique. Klein’s teasing messages will, no doubt, spark plenty of rumors about the exact changes that won’t be known for sure until Respawn’s patch notes are dropped. It seems likely that the bug fixes for the bracelet will address issues where, when you throw the bracelet, you can’t teleport and it just comes right back that have been frustrating players for a while. As for the “light” nerf on Loba’s ult, it’s probably to do with the range or the cooldown time, as messing about with how many items you could take would be a slightly bigger change.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Lifeline will not be changed in Season 13 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Lifeline will not be changed in Season 13 Respawn EntertainmentDespite calls from the community for a Lifeline buff in Season 13, the devs have confirmed that the Combat Medic will not be receiving any changes in Saviors. Ever since the removal of her res-shield back in Season 9, Apex Legends players have been calling on Respawn to buff Lifeline and make changes to her care package Ultimate. These shouts from the community have only grown louder in the lead-up to Season 13 with the reveal of Newcastle, the latest arrival in the Outlands who can deploy his own version of the res-shield and drag downed teammates to safety. While excitement for the new Legend is high, Lifeline players are disappointed with her kit and feel as if a lot of her abilities are becoming outdated and less useful. Developers addressed this concern about the current state of the Combat Medic in a QnA ahead of the Saviors update, but it’s not the news Lifeline players will be hoping for – at least not right now. Lifeline will not be getting changed in Season 13 When asked whether the Combat Medic would be receiving any buffs or changes in Saviors during the dev QnA, Senior Game Designer Devan McGuire revealed that “no Lifeline changes are coming in Season 13.” Although the devs have been evaluating her kit, and will continue do so, they do not consider Lifeline a priority as her pick rate is still relatively high heading into the new season. McGuire also addressed the comparison between Lifeline and Newcastle, expressing that they fulfill very different roles due to the Combat Medic’s ability to heal and revive two teammates simultaneously. However, with Newcastle’s Passive shield showing a clear resemblance to Lifeline’s old Passive, it’s obvious a lot of players feel as if Apex’s healer is being replaced by a stronger Legend. While Respawn has no plans to change Lifeline in the near future, the devs made it very clear they’re constantly assessing the meta and state of all the Legends on the roster. However, with Lifeline players unhappy with her current Ultimate and Passive, the calls for changes are likely to continue long into Season 13. If her pick rate drops significantly, or the demand from players becomes even stronger, we might see Respawn make some changes later in the season, or for Season 14.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Lifeline buffs and nerfs coming in Season 9 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Lifeline buffs and nerfs coming in Season 9 Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has revealed just how Respawn will be adjusting Lifeline going into May’s Season 9, with the in-game medic facing a number of significant changes. Apex Legends Season 9 – set to start on May 4, 2021 – is expected to bring major shake-ups to the game’s meta. Like the start of new seasons in the past, it will bring the most major balancing changes and a new Legend. We’ve already heard some details about a potential buff for Season 4 legend Revenant. However, Lifeline is also lined up for some changes. The in-game healer has been among the game’s most picked characters since launch, but has seen her relevance dwindle in recent seasons. This is probably why Respawn are planning adjustments in Season 9 and, they have now revealed what we can expect. Throwing questions the way of John Larson, a Live Balance Designer at Respawn, a player asked: “How is Lifeline’s kit being handled? Regardless of whether her ult gets changed or buffed, her passive needs a 10-20 sec delay between revives.” Read More: What is Solace City in Apex Legends? – In response, Larson said: “Removing res shield, increasing tactical healing speed by 60%, buffing the CP to give guaranteed upgrades.” While the removal of Lifeline’s revival shield is certainly a big nerf, the latter two changes means the changes may even out to a minor buff. Her Drone of Compassion will now heal 60% faster, and her Care Packages will “guarantee upgrades”, meaning summoning one will always leave players with better loot than they had previously. The removal of res shields is a big payoff though. A lot remains unclear about Season 9 – particularly given we’re still not 100% sure which new Legend to expect. Lifeline’s changes, though, will definitely be a big shake up, hopefully making her less frustrating to play against, while giving some meaningful buffs too.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Kraber changes are coming to make it less hated – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Kraber changes are coming to make it less hated Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed Respawn is working on changes for the Kraber to make it less hated among the community. There’s only one weapon in the Apex Legends arsenal that can one-shot a full health opponent, and that’s the Kraber. This powerful care package sniper has been a divisive gun in the community since the release of Apex, with a lot of players calling on Respawn to remove it from Ranked. Despite countless requests, the devs have remained silent on their plans for the Kraber, even when pros have called out the weapon for ruining competitive matches. That was until March 11, when a dev finally revealed on Twitter that Respawn is working on some changes for the weapon. Kraber changes are coming in Apex Legends On March 11, Respawn producer Josh Medina responded to a tweet talking about the Kraber being a frustrating weapon to go up against. Keeping it short and simple, he promised that Respawn was working on changes to make the powerful sniper less hated within the community. We are trying to make you hate the kraber less I promise pic.twitter.com/xFX5m9T40W — Josh Medina (@lowkeydbjosh) March 11, 2022 Despite this, later on in the thread, he did ask players how they would alter the Kraber without removing it or nerfing its damage. This suggests that whatever changes are on the way, they won’t involve reducing the Kraber’s damage. This only leaves a few options for the devs like altering its care package spawn rate or potentially removing it from Ranked and comp. What do you think is a way to address the kraber without: Removing it or nerfing it’s damage? — Josh Medina (@lowkeydbjosh) March 11, 2022 As Josh took the time to ask the community their opinion on how the Kraber should be nerfed, we can assume Respawn’s changes are in their early stages. This means it could be a long time before we see the lethal sniper make an appearance in the patch notes. However, as it’s clear Respawn is listening to ideas, it may be worth coming up with some suggestions and sending them the way of the developers. Who knows, it could be the concept Respawn is looking for to balance the Kraber once and for all.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms huge Loba buff for bracelet coming in Season 9 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms huge Loba buff for bracelet coming in Season 9 Respawn EntertainmentRespawn Entertainment has confirmed that a huge buff to Loba’s Tactical is being playtested and will arrive in Season 9, finally fixing the issues with her bracelet, plus some big buffs to it. Since the release of Loba all the way back in Season 5, she’s remained an incredibly popular Legend within the community. Her ability to gear up a squad and set them up for skirmishes can be extremely powerful in the early game. Despite this, there’s been one frustrating issue with the High Society Thief’s kit since she joined the Apex Games, and that’s her Tactical. Not only is her movement impaired while the bracelet is in the air, but the Tactical frequently returns to her and rejects the selected location. This can result in Loba players dying in situations where they should have been able to escape. Well, during a discussion about the Legacy Gameplay trailer, a Respawn developer confirmed Loba would be receiving a huge buff in Season 9. Respawn dev confirms buff is coming to Loba’s Tactical Following the release of the Apex Legends Legacy Gameplay trailer, Respawn developers took some time to answer player questions on the game’s subreddit. Of course, the community took the opportunity to ask about changes to their favorite Legends, with one player questioning Respawn’s decision to nerf Loba’s Ultimate from 90 to 120 seconds. They also pointed out the glaring issues with her Tactical that remains a point of frustration for players. The developer’s response confirmed some exciting news for Loba mains to look forward to in Season 9 “We’re not just fixing it… we’re also buffing it: full movement speed while it’s in the air, no slow down when you arrive.” This is huge news for Loba mains who have been calling out for a fix to the Tactical for a number of Seasons. The buffs will also give her more survivability when disengaging fights make her kit more satisfying to use overall. Although an extra 30 seconds is being added to her Ultimate cooldown, the fixes to her Tactical certainly outweigh this nerf. Season 9 is set to bring a range of buffs and nerfs to various legends, consider checking out our dedicated hub so you know what changes to expect.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Horizon nerf was accidental – but will come soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Horizon nerf was accidental – but will come soon RespawnApex Legends devs have confirmed that Horizon’s stealth nerf – which became clear following the Spellbound Collection Event – was “inadvertent”, but will be added to the battle royale in the near future. Apex Legends fans have been less than enamored with the Spellbound Collection Event. It dropped on January 10, giving way to major server issues and a subsequent lack of communication from Respawn. A major bone of contention also revolved around Horizon. The Season 7 legend, whom many have argued is currently too strong, received a secret and hefty nerf. When using her Gravity Lift Tactical Ability, players discovered the accuracy of her firing was greatly reduced. Discussion subsequently centered on why it was omitted from patch notes, with some suggesting it was released in error. Now, Respawn have confirmed that was the case. Respawn confirm Horizon nerf was released accidentally In a tweet late on January 13, the devs said: “A quick note to our Apex Legends dearies before you launch into the weekend. Accuracy while shooting from Horizon’s Gravity Lift was inadvertently affected with the 15.1 update. We’ve just rolled out a fix to correct this.” In short, Horizon’s accuracy while using her Tactical should now be back to normal. The comments were supplemented by Josh Medina, Senior Producer at Respawn. He confirmed that the nerf was released accidentally but that it will be re-released in the near future. Specifically, we can expect it after upcoming ALGS events. While he did not name specific competitions, ALGS Split 1 Playoffs will take place in London in early February. He said: “Sometimes things escape that aren’t fully ready for prime time especially with ALGS coming up”. With a hefty nerf for Horizon confirmed to be in the works, mains of the Gravitational Manipulator better enjoy her strong Tactical while they can. Medina did not confirm exactly when the nerf will drop, but Season 16 seems likely, currently chalked to launch on February 14.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms highly-requested inventory feature coming soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms highly-requested inventory feature coming soon NaeemPK via RedditThe era of ‘red dots’ littered across Apex Legends’ menu tabs will finally come to an end after Respawn confirmed they’re implementing a ‘mark all as seen’ button to the game. Apex’s bustling community is rejoicing after the developers indicated the long-awaited quality of life update that is scheduled for the next patch, if everything goes to plan. While fans of the game have known for a while that the feature was pending, there hasn’t been much news of it since seeing it on Respawn’s Trello board a while ago. Since the conversation’s gone dark, it’s been a waiting game to see if the developers would follow-up on the organizational feature. Well, an inquiring fan created a mock-up of what the ‘mark all as seen’ button could look like within the character-select screen. But fiction turned into reality once Respawn Senior Game Designer, Daniel Z. Klein, chimed into the discussion. “Could we get a ‘Mark all as seen’ button? Would be useful instead of going through all the menus to clear the icons,” user ‘TigerTankSniper’ suggested, before Klein was happy to oblige. “Good news! That’s probably coming in the next patch! John Hodgson put that one in not too long ago,” Klein was happy to report. Hodgson is another Senior Game Designer at Respawn, who’s about to make a lot of the Apex fans really happy. Since the launch of Apex Legends back in February 2019, there’s been a ton of content regularly injected into the battle royale. This stretches from Legends, weapon cosmetics, sky trails, holo sprays, voice lines, banners, and a lot more. Comment byu/TigerTankSniper from discussion inapexlegends As much as the fans have loved adding troves of content to their personal libraries, every time something new gets added a small red dot appears to notify players of the change. “I have an army of them because all the useless blue and white items I get, not really motivated enough to click on all them so now it just keeps growing bigger and bigger,” one person wrote. The thing is, those little indicators can be persistent and a bit of a bother; hence, the quality of life update that’s coming into the game very soon. But the community can let out a collective sigh of relief seeing as they shouldn’t be a problem in Apex Legends after the next update.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Gibraltar gun shield changes coming – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Gibraltar gun shield changes coming Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends devs at Respawn have confirmed that Gibraltar will be getting a change to his Gun Shield, which will hopefully fix the biggest problem players have with facing the legend at the moment: bleedthrough. Gibraltar is basically the tank of Apex Legends, with a big Dome shield for his teammates and a smaller “Gun Shield” that appears when he aims down sights for himself. Obviously, these make him tougher to take down in a fight, but the trade-off being he has one of the largest hitboxes in the game. A lot of players have complained quite a bit about one thing Gibby’s shield lacks – damage bleedthrough. Now, Respawn has announced they’ll finally be adding the interaction in an update sometime after the start of Season 8. If you’re confused on what bleedthrough actually is, don’t worry, as we’ll explain it all right here. What is Bleedthrough in Apex Legends? Bleedthrough refers to the transfer of damage to the target after a shield has been destroyed. Take any level of armor you can find in Apex, for example. Say you have 50 armor: If you take over 50 damage with one shot, that remaining damage doesn’t just go away. Instead, it transfers to your base health pool. Gibraltar’s Gun Shield doesn’t work this way. Instead of transferring damage over, it does make it disappear. This means you can have just 1HP left on your shield, and negate the full damage of an incoming shot. This might seem like a minor detail, but it definitely makes Gibraltar much tougher to take down during a gunfight and has been a significant annoyance to non-Gibby mains for a while. Thankfully, Respawn seems to have a plan to fix it. While the updates won’t make it in time for the Season 8 update, Respawn dev JayBiebs did reveal two major changes coming for the legend in a post on the game’s subreddit. “Bleedthrough and damage counting towards stats/evo to mitigate some of the shield economy difference in poking engagements against Gib,” they wrote. “We really wanted to get the gun shield change in for 8.0. But we discovered a bug in how damage is registered by the gun shield with single projectile vs. multi-projective weapons.” Exactly when the update will happen remains to be seen, but from the comment, it seems devs are pretty far along with the updates – so it wouldn’t be a shock to see it arrive a week or two after Season 8 begins.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix for new Loba bracelet glitch “on the way” – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix for new Loba bracelet glitch “on the way” Respawn EntertainmentRespawn has confirmed a fix for the latest Apex Legends issue relating to Loba and her bracelet is “on its way,” though the Season 5 update patch designed to solve the problem may not ship until at least next week, Let’s be honest, Loba has been one of the most problematic Apex Legends characters ever added to the battle royale. She debuted at the start of season five, and was soon crashing the game, hacking into new areas, dodging bullets, and plenty more. Recently, players have discovered one of the most game-breaking of them all: Loba’s teleporting bracelet simply doesn’t work on World’s Edge. Luckily, Respawn is already on the job, with a patch coming “early next week.” Loba bracelet glitch fix “on the way” The Apex Legends developers alerted players a solution was on its way on July 1: “We are aware of Loba’s tactical [Burglar’s Best Friend] not always being placed on World’s Edge and we are currently testing a client-side fix for it.” We are aware of Loba’s tactical not always being placed on Worlds Edge and we are currently testing a client side fix for it. For more info, @MonsterclipRSPN has given some additional insight on the issue. https://t.co/gVMbnp2PDz — Apex Legends (@PlayApex) July 2, 2020 Respawn game director Jason McCord expanded on the issues soon after, revealing Loba’s newest bug was due to “out of bounds” areas in the World’s Edge code, which is “slightly different” to the Kings Canyon base design. “Triggers are done a little differently on World’s Edge… same user-facing functionality, just authored a slightly different way,” he explained. “[Then] the code changed and broke her bracelet for those specific WE triggers.” The good news though, McCord continued, is that it’s already been solved in Respawn’s Apex testing realm. All that is left is to test the fix, which may take a bit of time “because this code touches a lot of parts of the games,” he said. “We have a US holiday on Friday, so people aren’t working then,” he added. “Realistically, the middle of next week is when we will ship out the fix.” Respawn could disable the Translocating Thief McCord also revealed Respawn had nearly flipped the switch on Loba entirely, and turned her off to fix the issue. They made a call not to though, he said, because the devs knew “players would rather have the option to play her than not.” Finally, the Apex developer promised fans the new Loba teleporting issue was only contained to World’s Edge. Players “should” be able to play the Translocating Thief in all Kings Canyon playlists without any problems, it seems. We talked about turning Loba off in character select, but decided that players would rather have the option to play her than not. You might have challenges to complete or be working on a badge, etc. And Kings Canyon is unaffected. — Jason McCord (@Monsterclip_JM) July 2, 2020 When will the Loba glitch fix go live? For now, it’s probably best if you avoid picking Loba entirely if you’re loading into matches on World’s Edge. Her ‘Burglar’s Best Friend’ tactical ability is a vital part of her kit, second only to her ultimate. It’s a big blow to have it not work. Respawn has become renowned for pushing Apex Legends updates on Tuesdays. That means there’s every chance they do the same for this client-side download next week. That would mean, fingers crossed, the issue is solved by July 7. Make sure you’re following our Twitter account @Titanfallblog too — as soon as the patch is live, we’ll be letting all our Apex fans know there. Then you can get back to phasing across the map as Season 5’s sassy heroine.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix for unbalanced matchmaking is coming – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix for unbalanced matchmaking is coming Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that Respawn is working on a fix for unbalanced matchmaking in Season 15. Season 15 of Apex Legends is well underway and the community is enjoying all of the new content that arrived in Eclipse. Whether it’s the Defensive Conjurer Catalyst, the impressive Broken Moon map, or the long-awaited gifting feature, Respawn certainly knocked it out of the park with the major update. Despite this, there are still a lot of fundamental problems that the community is desperate to see fixed, with one of the main issues being unbalanced matchmaking. In the current system, low-ranked players are regularly placed against Diamond, Master, and Preds in pubs. Well, a dev has finally responded to the community’s complaints and confirmed that Respawn is working on a solution. Apex Legends dev confirms matchmaking issues are being fixed On November 8, Apex Legends player Optimacy117 took to Twitter to reveal that they’d been placed against a Master competitor in pubs. While this would be fine if they were an extremely high rank, Optimacy is currently sitting at Bronze 2 and was immediately wiped out by the enemy. This caused a lot of frustration for them as they stood no chance when pit up against such a highly-skilled player, so they decided to tag Respawn. In response, Technical Director Samy Duc replied to the tweet, revealing that the team “are on it” and looking for a solution. While no further details were provided by the dev, this is great news for the community as unbalanced matchmaking has been a major issue for a long time. For a lot of players, jumping into a match and getting stomped by their opponents puts them off logging onto Apex, as it’s impossible to have fun. Hopefully, Respawn shares more details on the matchmaking changes they’re working on ahead of Season 16, as it would be a hugely positive boost for the community.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix for Horizon’s annoying dialog – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix for Horizon’s annoying dialog Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends’ character dialogue allows each Legend to express elements of their personality throughout a game. However, when a Legend is repeating the same line over and over again, it can get a little frustrating for you and your squad. Character dialogue in Battle Royale’s such as Apex Legends is often overlooked by players. Despite this, it’s certainly important in establishing a personality for each of the playable Legends. Of course, with that in mind, there has to be a balance between too much and too little dialogue. In Apex Legends, character dialogue is not only projected to the player but the entire squad as well. This can be great to help keep track of your teammates, however, if the voice lines are repeated over and over it can get very annoying. Apex devs respond to complaints on Horizon’s repetitive voice lines A thread posted to the Apex Legends subreddit has received nearly 7,000 upvotes on Horizon’s repetitive voice lines. The main complaint from the community is that the new Legend repeats her ‘Another soft landing’ voice line too many times in-game. An Apex Legends developer has responded to the thread revealing a fix is on the way: “A fix is incoming for this…while we love Horizon’s dialog and reaction to her passive, it’s much less relevant to her squad mates.” Despite this response, the thread has opened up a wider discussion on different Legends’ voice lines: “As a Lifeline main… I don’t think it’s worse than the extra supplies voice line.” This begs the question, does the amount of character voice lines in Apex need to be reduced as a whole? Although in-game voice lines can get frustrating when repeated, it’s obvious they have their place in Apex. They add a sense of character and personality to the game that enhances the gameplay experience. However, Respawn may have to address voice lines projecting to an entire squad if it continues to be raised as a frustrating feature.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for Wraith getting nerfed by Newcastle ult – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for Wraith getting nerfed by Newcastle ult Respawn/YouTube: MuratoRespawn have confirmed that they’ll be addressing an issue between Wraith and Newcastle in Apex Legends as players have been suffering damage while using Wraith’s portal. Just like with every new Apex Legends season, Respawn Entertainment introduced a new character – Newcastle – to the battle royale with the Season 13 update. The new legend, who is the brother of Bangalore, has proven popular with players already, settling in with a nice pick rate. Though, it hasn’t been completely smooth sailing for the hero of Harris Valley. In the short while since he joined the Apex Games, players have found ways to leap 200 meters using his ultimate ability to pick up a fallen teammates’ banner, and he’s also given Wraith a few headaches as well. Players have flagged an issue where, when using Wraith, they are stunned and take damage from Newcastle’s Castle Wall ability, despite her supposedly being unable to do so. It was highlighted by one fan on Twitter, showing that both Wraith’s ‘Into the Void’ and ‘Dimensional Rift’ abilities are affected by this issue. However, that shouldn’t be the case for much longer. “Should be fixed with the new patch coming out this week,” responded Pav, a member of Respawn’s live support team, with plenty of players praising the swift fix. As of writing, though, there have not been any more details about when this update may hit the live servers. It’s likely that you’ll have to download a small patch, rather than it being a server-side hotfix. Though, we’ll just have to keep an eye out for whenever Respawn decides to send it live.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for reload bug in Season 15 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for reload bug in Season 15 Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that a fix is coming for the reload glitch that has plagued Season 15, especially when it comes to games on Broken Moon. The start of Apex Legends Season 15 has brought about some massive changes to the battle royale, with the arrival of both Catalyst and the new Broken Moon map. While players have been excited about the changes, diving into games on the new battle royale’s newest setting, a few issues have reared their heads in the new season. The biggest of which has related to matchmaking, as well as constant freezing during matches on console. If you’re a controller player, you’ll also be aware of another issue – an inability to reload. This has especially been prominent on Broken Moon, but it’s not just limited to that map either, with players saying it has also occurred on Olympus. Apex Legends broken reload issue will be fixed soon Essentially, if you don’t know, the issue revolves around players being unable to reload while inside or near a doorway. Instead of reloading a weapon, the prompt to mess with the door takes over. It’s frustrated many players, including Apex pros Eric ‘Snip3down’ Wrona and Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen, who both flagged it on Twitter. “I’m losing my mind over here,” said Snip3down. Thankfully, Respawn’s Josh Medina – a senior producer on Apex Legends – confirmed that it will be addressed soon. “Gonna be a part of hotfix patch soon,” he replied on November 10. With it being a hotfix, it’ll likely not be announced by Respawn as to when it goes live, nor will players probably have to download anything on their side. It’s not the only thing that the devs have stated they’re fixing when it comes to Broken Moon. Some players have flagged issues with vegetation swallowing bullets and invisible walls stopping grenades from reaching their target. Though, they will be sorted before long, thankfully.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for Pred lobby ‘stream-sniping’ exploit – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms fix coming for Pred lobby ‘stream-sniping’ exploit Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends developer has confirmed that a fix is on the way for an exploit that allows Bronze players to sneak into Pred lobbies and stream-snipe their favorite players. Apex Legends has dealt with all kinds of cheaters in the past. Despite working harder than ever before, it’s a problem that Respawn can’t seem to get completely under control. That doesn’t mean that they’re not trying though. One of the most used exploits in recent memory is one that allows freshly made accounts to sneak into high-ranked lobbies without ever climbing the ranked ladder. While this wouldn’t be so much of a problem if it were happening on accident and a noob was occasionally tossed into the deep end, in the hands of the a capable cheater, it causes some major collateral damage. Now, the devs are ready to tackle it. Apex Legends dev comments on Predator lobby matchmaking exploit While talking to pro player and former #1 Apex Predator HisWattson on Twitter, Apex’s Security lead let the community know that they’re aware of how game-breaking this kind of behavior can be. He wasn’t quite ready to say when exactly a fix would be on the way, but he did mention that the team is looking into it and that it might not be a problem that the pros have to deal with for too long. “I can say that the bronze issue is currently being worked on as well so hopefully you won’t be seeing that soon,” he said. I think it’s also fair to keep in mind that we didn’t have the team that we have now during all of that. I can say that the bronze issue is currently being worked on as well so hopefully you won’t be seeing that soon — Conor Ford / Hideouts (@RSPN_Hideouts) June 25, 2022 The reason this exploit is such a big deal is that it allows anyone who has been banned before to largely bypass the intended penalties of losing their account. Not only does that mean they can jump right back in and start terrorizing more lobbies, but it also makes it easier to hunt specific players at the highest level of the game. Like in HisWattson’s case, one “speed hacking” Gibraltar was successfully able to land on him multiple games in a row, making it impossible to play the game as normal and also draining hundreds of RP along the way. It will likely still be a while before this fix does land in the game but we’ll be sure to keep up with the latest updates as they come.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms even more anti-cheat improvements coming in Season 16 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms even more anti-cheat improvements coming in Season 16 Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that “even more” anti-cheat improvements are coming in Season 16 as players have been demanding more updates. With Season 16 of Apex Legends on the horizon, it’s safe to say the community is excited for the next fresh batch of content scheduled to arrive in February. Despite this, many players would prefer Respawn to focus on enhancing the fundamental aspects of the game like matchmaking, Ranked, and most of all, the anti-cheat. While a patch was rolled out that’s given Diamond, Master, and Predator competitors protection against DDoSing, players still want Respawn to do more about the abundance of hackers. Well, an Apex dev has confirmed that the security team will do exactly that next season, and vowed that “more” improvements are coming. Apex Legends devs vows anti-cheat improvements are coming Taking to Twitter on January 27, Security Analyst at Respawn, Conor ‘Hideouts’ Ford, celebrated that 2022 was a year of “lots of bans” and “lots of detections” for the dev team. Not only that, he confirmed that “even more” improvements are on the cards for Season 16 and that he’s “looking forward to seeing everything take shape”. While Hideouts didn’t go into specifics, it’s great to hear that anti-cheat enhancements have become a priority for Respawn. Currently, the game uses software called Easy Anti-cheat, but a lot of players aren’t convinced this system is particularly effective. With the next major update scheduled to go live in mid-February, it’ll be interesting to see if the devs have any third-party detection improvements ready for Season 16’s release. If they do, there’s no doubt it’ll be well-received by the community, which is desperate to see every hacker purged from Ranked matchmaking.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Crypto buffs coming following Wattson rework – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Crypto buffs coming following Wattson rework Respawn EntertainmentCrypto is scheduled for huge buffs in Apex Legends soon and a Respawn developer confirmed that the Surveillance Expert will get their overhaul following Wattson’s Season 11 rework. In Season 3, Respawn Entertainment introduced its 11th character to the battle royale who split his time between scouting with his drone and disabling opponents in the middle of a gunfight. The character’s concept proved popular with fans and took hold in the meta for a short time. Soon after, however, Crypto quickly fell out of favor in Apex and dropped dead last in pick rates. Crypto buffs coming to Apex Legends Buffs or attempts to make him stronger haven’t stuck in the past but we could see a whole new side of him after the Wattson rework lands. “Devs have confirmed on Reddit that Crypto is going to get a rework or improvements in the future,” streamer ‘XFactor’ said. “No timetable yet.” “My guy who did Wattson is doing Crypto,” Respawn Producer Josh Medina responded. A Respawn dev who worked on Wattson will also take a swipe at the encryption expert to retool him in a big way. The long-awaited Wattson rework in Season 11 will massively change how the character plays out including her ultimate ability, Interception Pylon. The changes give players a lot more tools to work with while keeping the identity of the Legend intact. That’s something players hope will also be true for Crytpo. Though he hasn’t been a popular pick for a while, the Apex community has always tried to fit him into the meta. Players can see there’s a ton of potential but the drone-operator hasn’t been able to compete with the likes of Octane, Wraith and Bloodhound. All of that could change soon as Respawn explore the best ways to buff Crypto sometime in Season 11 or beyond.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms Control mode won’t just end after 3 week launch – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms Control mode won’t just end after 3 week launch Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that Control won’t be going away for good in Season 12, as fans have been loving the new limited-time mode. Over the last few Seasons, Apex Legends has had its fair share of popular limited-time modes – including the likes of Dummie’s Big Day, Third-Person mode, and Shadow Royale. With the launch of Season 12: Defiance, Respawn added another to the mix – Control – and it’s already proven to be a hit with fans. The Call of Duty Domination-like mode pits players together in a 9v9, respawning battle for possession of three spots amongst popular POIs on the battle royale maps. The new mode has only been around for a short while, and some fans are desperate for it to become permanent rather than just being an LTM that’ll disappear off the face of the earth before long. However, if you’re a fan of the mode, you don’t have to worry about that, as it appears Respawn will be bringing it back regularly throughout Season 12. With Control not yet distributing mode-specific badges as Respawn had promised it would, some fans questioned if the devs would get around to fixing this issue. Respawn’s Technical Game Designer, RobotHavGunz, stepped up to the plate and answered that – also giving good news about the future of Control. “[Badges] Coming with the Anniversary event next week,” the dev commented. “Two events this season will have Control-specific badges.” Comment byu/Drunken-Badger from discussion inapexlegends With the Anniversary event bringing in badges, it’s safe to say that Control will be sticking around through that. Though, there are two other events lined up for Season 12 already. These are the Warriors and Unshackled events, though, neither have dates just yet. We do know that the Warriors event is a Collection Event – which often brings a Town Takeover – so we may have to wait for the Unshackled event before getting another fix of Control.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms changes coming to gold knockdown shields – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms changes coming to gold knockdown shields Respawn/EAAn Apex Legends developer has confirmed that changes will be coming to the controversial gold knockdown shield, though, they’re playing their cards close to the chest as to exactly when they’ll be revealed. With Respawn Entertainment making a number of changes to Ranked play in Season 13, Apex Legends players have had plenty of new things to get to grips with after the update. The changes to Ranked were, at first, welcomed by the community but they’ve caused headaches since. Not only are players frustrated by the new distribution of ranks, but gold knockdown shields have also been a sore point. Players – both casual and professional – have regularly complained about the survival item’s power in Ranked, calling for them to be removed outright. While that isn’t going to happen, changes are coming eventually. The topic of the knockdown shields was brought up to Respawn’s Evan Nikolich during an interview with The Loadout, and the design director for Apex Legends noted that they’ve heard the feedback. “I will not commit to anything at this time, but we are evaluating and changes will be coming in the future,” Nikolich said, urging fans to continue making their voices heard with regard to feedback. Obviously, it would be nice to have a point as to when the change might come down the pipe, but Respawn are clearly working hard to address the issue given they’ve now doubled down on a change. Previously, game designer John ‘JayBiebs’ Larson noted that he’d also heard the complaints about the power of the shield’s self-revive, and suggested it may get tuned down. We’ll just have to wait and see as to when the changes will be rolled out, but at least there will be a tweak and it’s not just being ignored.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms “big nerf” for Horizon probably coming in Season 9 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms “big nerf” for Horizon probably coming in Season 9 Respawn EntertainmentRespawn have confirmed that a major nerf for Gravitational Manipulator Horizon will be coming to Apex Legends, likely when Season 9 drops at the start of May. The Apex Legends Chaos Theory update, which drops on March 9, will shake up Season 8’s meta and make a number of significant changes to some legends. Pathfinder, for example, had Low Profile removed in a surprising buff, while Caustic was given a significant nerf in just about every department, leading to some players criticizing Respawn for being too harsh on the Toxic Trapper. There was also some more treatment of Horizon, with the Season 7 legend quickly establishing herself as one of the game’s strongest offensive characters. Many expected a fairly substantial nerf, but were met with just a change that increased her Ultimate cooldown from 2 minutes to 3 minutes. However, Respawn have now confirmed that a stronger nerf for Horizon is in the works, but it wasn’t quite ready to make the Chaos Theory update. Speaking on Reddit, lead game designer Daniel Klein responded to a user asking why Horizon received such a small nerf given her relative strength in Season 8. “If Horizon has the best win rate why did she only get a small Nerf to her Ult then?” the player enquired. “Why doesn’t she have Low Profile over the likes of Lifeline/Wattson?” “We weren’t ready with the big nerf for Horizon, so we shipped what he had first,” the dev replied. “Bigger nerf coming soon, hopefully S9, but no guarantees.” As Klein’s comment states, fans can be quietly hopeful for the changes to come with Season 9. As of right now, that looks like being at the start of May, specifically around May 4, when the Season 8 battle pass is set to expire. What’s also interesting is that Klein did not get into details of exactly what form the nerf will take, meaning we don’t quite know how Horizon will be weakened. As soon as we know, you’ll know.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms big changes for broken Ranked Arenas – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms big changes for broken Ranked Arenas Respawn/EAThe Ranked Arenas mode in Apex Legends is set to undergo a handful of big changes, especially when it comes to matchmaking and Arena Points. For most Apex players, the only way to play the game is to jump into the normal battle royale but there are different ways to play as well. Arenas was added to the mix at the start of Season 9: Legacy, and the mode has proven to be a hit. The unique 3v3 fight mode has its own economy and smaller maps, making for some fast-paced gameplay that is different from what you’d usually expect. Though, while the mode has been popular, it has issues, especially in Ranked play. Fans have complained about the matchmaking – with random teams being wildly unbalanced at times – as well as the distribution of Arenas Points (AP). Yet, that all looks set to change. On October 7, complaints were once again aired by players who noted that their grind was all for naught after losing one match, given they lost more of their AP in the process. Responding to one annoyed played, Robert West – one of Respawn’s senior devs for Apex – said tev hat positive changes are in the works. “We’re working on making the Ranked Arenas experience better! We have some matchmaking and AP improvements in the pipe and will of course keep updating as we go,” the dev said, noting that there bug fixes to come as well. We’re working on making the Ranked Arenas experience better! We have some matchmaking and AP improvements in the pipe and will of course keep updating as we go. I know of 1 bug at least that we’re investigating and will hopefully have a fix for soon. More in 🧵 — Robert West (@RoboB0b_) October 8, 2021 West noted that the extreme loss of Arenas Points comes either because your AP is way higher than your MMR but this “shouldn’t really ever happen.” Secondly, if you lose to a much lower-rated team, you may also lose big points, but this is also being addressed. “This should also be better after the update,” he added. Second is if you lose to a lower rated team. Thankfully, we have some updates coming that I think will make this much better. Lower ranked teammates usually just means their MMR is close to yours but they haven’t grinded as much AP. This should also be better after the update— Robert West (@RoboB0b_) October 8, 2021 Unfortunately, there is no timeline on when these adjustments will be rolled out, but knowing they’re coming should encourage Arenas players to fight on and not quit.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms ban for streamer openly broadcasting their cheats – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms ban for streamer openly broadcasting their cheats Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has confirmed that a streamer who regularly broadcasts themselves hacking on Twitch has been banned. Apex Legends is a competitive game at its core and the majority of players go into every single match looking to secure a victory. While most of the community relies on their skill alone, others prefer to take shortcuts and use third-party software to cheat. These hacks usually come in the form of aimbots, wallhacks, or sometimes enhanced movement abilities. While Apex’s anti-cheat usually detects cheaters automatically, that’s not always the case, with some hackers dodging suspensions for weeks until a manual ban is enforced. Well, one streamer took it to the next level, openly streaming their hacks on Twitch, before a dev confirmed that they had been permanently suspended from the Outlands. Hacking Twitch streamer banned from Apex Legends A Twitch streamer that regularly broadcasts themselves hacking on Apex Legends has been after terrorizing lobbies with a blatant aimbot. As you can see below, the player has no interest in hiding the third-party software. Their gun automatically locks onto foes and wipes them before they have a chance to react. Taking to Twitter on January 10, IntrepidusOne tagged Security Analyst at Respawn Conor ‘Hideouts’ Ford with a clip of the streamer using an aimbot. The dev quickly responded by saying that the cheater has been “banned via automated detection” just after this tweet had been posted. While this suspension may prevent the streamer from playing on their original account, there’s nothing stopping them from creating a new one. Not only that, based on their recent vods, they’ve been openly streaming hacks for an extended period of time with no punishment. The community will be hoping that the anti-cheat improvements arrive soon, to prevent cheaters from ruining any more matches.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms accidental Bangalore & Caustic nerf will be fixed in Season 9 – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms accidental Bangalore & Caustic nerf will be fixed in Season 9 Respawn EntertainmentRespawn have confirmed that the accidental nerf to Bangalore and Caustic in the Chaos Theory update will be fixed in Apex Legends Season 9 when it drops. The Chaos Theory Event dropped on March 9, adding plenty of new content to Apex Legends. However, players quickly noticed a change to Bangalore and Caustic that wasn’t in any official dispatches from Respawn. Bangalore’s Tactical Smoke Launcher and Caustic’s Nos Gas mean smoke is integral to the strength of both Legends. However, following the update, players noticed that their smoke was far less effective when it came to hiding them from view. Previously, smoke would obscure nearly all players within it, allowing them to move freely and reposition according to the situation. Respawn were quick to address the issues, explaining that: “There was a change to the underlying VFX that we made with optimization in mind. The goal was to have it look identical to what was there before, but apparently that’s not what happened.” On April 16, Lead Game Designer Daniel Klein provided an update on Reddit, responding to a user who asked: “Do we have an update on this? It’s a pretty significant issue hindering this Legend’s entire kit.” Klein, to the relief of Bangalore and Caustic mains across the globe, responded: “It’s in Season 9.” While much of the Season 9 update is not yet confirmed, all signs hint at a legend called Valk, whose leaked abilities pointed towards her being a Soaring Aviator. The update is also thought to be bringing big changes to to both Olympus and World’s Edge. Players can also expect a host of bug fixes to go with this smoke visibility adjustment. Barring any delays, Season 9 is set to drop on May 4, 2021.

  • Apex Legends dev confirms “a lot” of anti-cheat improvements coming soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirms “a lot” of anti-cheat improvements coming soon Respawn EntertainmentRespawn Entertainment’s Conor ‘Hideouts’ Ford has confirmed that Apex Legends will receive a number of improvements to its anti-cheat systems in the “very near future.” Despite the impressive popularity of Apex Legends – hitting 100 million players in 2021 – it has struggled to overcome issues posed by hackers and cheaters. While other battle royales, like Warzone, have been regularly criticized for their failure to combat cheating, Apex has faired slightly better. It is still a work in progress though, with hackers fairly common, especially in high-level games. However, speaking on April 30, Respawn’s Security Analyst Conor Ford (better known as Hideouts), confirmed that changes are in the offing for Apex Legends’ anti-cheat measures. https://twitter.com/PlayApex/status/1382378457808699396?s=20 Hideouts was in the Twitch stream of Apex streamer Christian ‘Nokokopuffs’ Feliciano when he confirmed that improvements will be coming very soon to Apex Legends’ anti-cheat system. “We have a lot of improvements coming for anti-cheat in the very near future,” he said. Unfortunately, he didn’t qualify when the “very near future” is, but it doesn’t seem likely to be with the Season 9 update, for which we’ve finally got our hands on some complete patch notes. Hideouts did not specify on the form the anti-cheat improvements would take either. Many hoped that it would improve Respawn’s ability to identify and punish DDoS abusers. This has proved itself to be a frustratingly common offense recently, with YouTuber WaterGotHim reportedly banned for DDoSing in Apex Legends Ranked matches. Respawn have also said that they will be willing to take legal action in the most serious cases. Read More: Apex Legends Season 9 weapon changes – While the changes don’t appear likely to be coming to the Season 9 update – which will drop on May 4 – we can expect them to be implemented as soon as they’re ready, given the prolific nature of hacking offenses in Apex Legends.

  • Apex Legends dev confirm Kings Canyon loot changes coming in next update – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev confirm Kings Canyon loot changes coming in next update Respawn EntertainmentThe Apex Legends team will be addressing concerns with loot distributions, among other pressing changes, on Kings Canyon with the next update to address growing problems in the game. Respawn Entertainment Producer Josh Medina spoke with Counter Logic Gaming’s Apex team members Jack ‘NiceWigg’ Martin and Christian ‘Nokokopuffs’ Feliciano about the improvements that could be made to Kings Canyon. A lot has changed in the battle royale since the return of the initial location for the Apex Games. New weapons, items, armor types, and Legends have made their way to the game – something Kings Canyon now needs to adapt to. Whether it’s the strain of the new items making the loot distribution on the map bad or just that the battlefield needs some sprucing up, it’s something the devs are looking to fix. “Tuesday the loot density should be addressed in [Kings Canyon],” Medina said. “Let me if it still feels [bad] after the patch.” It’s unclear what those changes would be, but NiceWigg indicated that it “was just the hop ups [Respawn] added etc. messing with Kings Canyon loot that made it feel so dry.” Since the Season 4 changes, players report a surge in Double Tap Trigger hop ups among the items that have been showing up the most at random times. The pro players found it encouraging that the dev took time to have a back-and-forth about the issues in Apex that need to be addressed. Another issue brought to Medina’s attention was an issue with armor swaps that sometimes come in so fast that people end up with the broken armor they were trying to ditch. Yah like if it’s empty and my purple armors full. I don’t want to accidentally swap back to the broken. Same thing if I have empty blue to full gray. It sometimes re-picks up the empty blue and gets you killed for it. I spam E on intense situations so I accidentally do it. — Noko (@Nokokopuffs) April 4, 2020 “One issue is the armor as well,” Nokokopuffs said. “Like today, I had an empty gold armor and swapped to a purple but pressed E so fast it picked back up the gold. If the armor is empty and swap to a full is there a way to you prioritize a full armor over just what’s ‘better.’” Medina teased that he’d talk to the Apex team to “potentially do what we do when swapping Evo armor (red to gold/purp).” It seems like the Apex Legends teams are buckling down to try and pick up the speed on player feedback turnaround to optimize the popular battle royale.

  • Apex Legends dev claims Season 14 Wingman change was “healthy” for the loot pool – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev claims Season 14 Wingman change was “healthy” for the loot pool Respawn EntertainmentThe Season 14 change to the Wingman saw it jump from Heavy Ammo to Sniper Ammo, and now at the halfway point, the developers have offered up some insight into how it has affected the weapon. There are few weapons that have matched the Wingman’s longevity in Apex Legends. It has always been an elite force in the hands of capable players, and when a gun succeeds that consistently, it usually means it’s in prime position for a nerf. However, considering the single shot hand cannon is one of the harder weapons to use effectively, when it came to make a change the devs didn’t want to completely ruin the high-risk, high-reward that comes with picking it up in the first place. This has led them to change its ammo type, with the hope of making teams either risk running out of bullets or be forced to give up a lot of utility they would otherwise be free to carry. Now that this strategy has been in effect for most of a season, here’s what one dev had to say about it. Apex Legends dev speaks on the decision to change Wingman to Sniper Ammo Senior Game Designer Eric Canavese took part in a Reddit AMA in which he and another dev answered questions from the community. When one fan asked if the team was pleased with the end result of making a change to the beloved weapon, the dev declared it a complete success. “The Wingman is incredibly lethal in the right hands and the sniper ammo changes have allowed it to keep its lethality but tamp down how easy it can be run,” he said. “We’re really happy with the ammo economy this season and the Wingman feels like it’s in a healthy spot.” He also touched on how the Respawn team believes these changes steepened the risk of using the weapon without effecting the reward, which is an idea that the team has stressed in other balancing updates before. Between keeping the high damage of this game’s iconic Desert Eagle-esque pistol and their philosophy around promoting new movement techniques that pop up from time to time, it’s clear that the devs want Apex Legends to be a game that rewards skill – and they believe that this change is a good example of that.

  • Apex Legends dev claims cheating is at its lowest level ever in Ranked – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev claims cheating is at its lowest level ever in Ranked Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dev has revealed that cheating and hacking in Ranked is at its lowest level ever thanks to “improved detection”. As with any battle royale, Apex Legends suffers from cheaters that use third-party software to gain an unfair advantage over their opponents. While these hacks are used in every mode, they’re particularly common in Ranked where competitors are more desperate to win and climb up each of the game’s tiers. This has been a major criticism from the community towards Respawn, which claims the anti-cheat team needs to do more to prevent cheaters from ruining matches. Well, a dev has now responded to this frustration from players by revealing that there are fewer cheaters and hackers in Ranked than ever before. Apex dev claims Ranked has fewer cheaters than ever before Taking to Twitter on May 10, Security Analyst at Respawn Conor ‘Hideouts’ Ford responded to a tweet criticizing the team for not implementing anti-cheat improvements over the last year. Hideouts began by pointing out that he is no longer the only anti-cheat specialist working on Apex Legends, explaining that Respawn has employed a full team to work on targeting players using third-party software. Not only that, he revealed that thanks to “improved detection” there are fewer cheaters in Ranked lobbies than ever before compared to previous seasons. “We have a full team now, much improved detections and are seeing less cheaters in ranked lobbies over all than in previous seasons,” he wrote. We have a full team now, much improved detections and are seeing less cheaters in ranked lobbied over all than in previous seasons. Idk what else to tell ya lol, that info was accurate — Conor Ford / Hideouts (@RSPN_Hideouts) May 10, 2022 Although the battle is far from over when it comes to clearing out hackers from Apex Legends, it’s obvious that the devs have taken steps over the last year to ban more cheaters from Ranked. However, it’s clear the community expects more changes to be implemented over the next few seasons and don’t want Respawn to take their foot off the pedal when it comes to punishing the use of third-party software.

  • Apex Legends dev breaks down why Caustic is so hard to balance – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev breaks down why Caustic is so hard to balance Respawn EntertainmentWith calls constantly growing for a Caustic nerf in Apex Legends, one dev has explained why he’s such a tough character to balance — so it sounds like we might be waiting a while longer. [jwplayer vP8vm9zZ] Caustic’s abilities are incredibly frustrating to play against, making entering rooms or confined spaces almost impossible to navigate when he’s involved. This is especially true when late into the game, with the ring closing and being forced into ever-smaller spaces. Apex Legends players call for Caustic nerf User AadrianN_ posted the clip below to Reddit, showing a ring that worked perfectly for Caustic’s gas grenade ult, leaving his opponent with absolutely no choice but to die. One player went on to ask what the counter would even be. This is a question many have asked about the powerful character, but now we actually have a bit more insight into why a nerf isn’t coming quite as quickly as some would have hoped. “Once you get to this exact situation, there isn’t one [a counter], and that f**king sucks,” explained lead game designer Daniel Klein. “We don’t exactly have a solution yet. Creating a shootable central thing for the ult, like Horizon, would work but it’s such a heavy handed fix (and would probably require us making barrels destructible post-trigger because otherwise they’re just better than the ult).” “Caustic mains exist and deserve to have fun” Klein expanded on his point by questioning what you can give Caustic in return to keep him balanced, before adding that “we can’t just make him an unpickable character either. You may not like them, but Caustic mains exist and deserve to have fun too.” Klein’s points definitely make sense, and pose a huge issue for the devs as to the best way to nerf Caustic but not make him absolutely useless. All in all, it seems like somewhat of a headache for both player and developer, but the folks at Respawn are clearly capable of making this work — it all just comes down to how best to do so. Without doubt a Caustic nerf is due to arrive at some point, the biggest question right now is how exactly that looks.

  • Apex Legends dev admits SBMM “not easy” but changes are coming – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev admits SBMM “not easy” but changes are coming Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends players have been wondering about alternatives to skill-based matchmaking for some time now, and it appears Respawn Entertainment are working to improve the system. SBMM has proven to be a lightning rod in the battle royale genre ever since it was first implemented, with the idea of matching players up against their equals based on different statistics. The game devs have always been pretty responsive with members of the community, ever since the game released, prompting one fan to ask one of Respawn’s analytics specialists about the potential of this style of matchmaking evolving in the near future. In a Twitter exchange, where user ‘The SBMM guy’ claimed the system actually does them an “injustice” when playing and has created “two rank modes,” Respawn’s own m_ray was happy to respond to the feedback. [jwplayer MY2aLBHW] Read More: How to change reticle colors in Apex Legends – They said: “The intention of a matchmaker is to give you *better* (fairer) match, and it turns out that’s not easy in a BR. So for what it’s worth, we’re trying to INCREASE justice – precisely the opposite of the message you sent me.” hey sbmm guy, i appreciate the feedback (really!) The intention of a matchmaker is to give you *better* (fairer) match, and it turns out that’s not easy in a BR. So for what it’s worth, we’re trying to INCREASE justice – precisely the opposite of the message you sent me 🌝 — emre, incorrectly pronounced as m_ray (@m_ray) July 10, 2020 This suggests that the dev team, despite having issues figuring it out so far, are working to increase justice in the way players are matched up in the future. However, there has been no mention of a timeframe for this. Presumably, different features will be tested over time rather than an abrupt change of direction. Some members of the community will already be forming wish lists for Apex Legends Season 6 and if the scrapping of SBMM is right up there at the very top, there’s a chance we could see things shift in the coming weeks and months. Keep an eye out for patch notes, and follow us on Twitter @TitanfallBlog for more news.

  • Apex Legends dev admits iconic “moving while looting” feature is actually a bug – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev admits iconic “moving while looting” feature is actually a bug Respawn EntertainmentBeing able to move while looting an enemy deathbox or Loba’s Black Market has been ingrained into every Apex Legends player (without a controller). However, it’s actually a bug. In a big twist, developer John Larson admitted the feature shouldn’t be in the game — but it’s unlikely to get removed. Given the high-paced nature of Apex Legends, being able to loot quickly and get back to fighting is key. In the middle of a fight, wiggling around on a deathbox or a Black Market to dodge incoming enemy fire and get a shield swap or some extra ammo is a common sight. However, if you thought that was intended by Respawn, prepare to have your mind blown: moving while looting in Apex Legends is actually a glitch and shouldn’t be in the game. “This may come as a surprise to some, but moving while looting is a bug,” developer John Larson admitted in a January 7 Twitlonger. As far as it goes, it’s probably the most exploited bug in Apex Legends too. Every PC player on mouse and keyboard has used innumerable times. Controller players have longed for Respawn to add it to their inputs. Just because it’s a bug doesn’t mean the developers are looking to squash it though. Instead, they’ve embraced it as time goes on, and are looking at giving the mechanic to controller players soon enough. “Is it a bug we’ll ever fix? No. If I were to rewind to early Apex development, I suspect I’d agree with the design decision of stationary looting. Soon after Apex released though, I saw an efficient looting meta-game emerge pretty quickly,” Larson added. “Fast forward a bit, and stuff like menu cursor speed options and gold armor/finisher reworks signaled acceptance of this emergent looting gameplay. In an effort to improve parity between input types, it seems reasonable to think moving while looting on controller should be an option.” Previous fixes touted by community figureheads like former pro Eric ‘Snip3down’ Wrona, changing the inputs while in a deathbox to loot and move, aren’t going to work though. “It’s not as simple as adding a menu option for ‘loot with right stick.’ The left analog stick moves the cursor when menus are open is very much hardcoded, and adding it (along with other advanced interact controls) requires UI, code, and design support that isn’t a top priority right now,” Larson admitted. However, next time you move while looting a deathbox in Apex Legends, thank the developers for leaving this bug in after the QA process — as it’s probably saved you from certain death a few times.

  • Apex Legends detective uncovers secret behind insane Vantage two-shot kills – Dexerto

Apex Legends detective uncovers secret behind insane Vantage two-shot kills Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends player has uncovered how Vantage can shoot in quick succession with her sniper after a viral clip baffled a few others. Vantage was introduced to Apex Legends back in Season 14, and quickly became a massive talking point in the community thanks to her Sniper’s Mark and her hitbox. Some competitive players quickly dubbed her a “trash” legend due to her ineffectiveness in the late game. Despite the initial hype, her pick rate has settled into the middle of the pack in Season 15. Though, plenty of players are still finding success. One highlight, in particular, caught the attention of some players as it was discovered that Vantage’s ultimate can shoot shots in rapid succession, which quickly eliminates players from a match. Apex Legends players uncover Vantage tactic to eliminate players insanely fast Well, one player, Redditor CaptainBlondiee, looked into it and found out what was causing the rapid eliminations from the deadeye sniper. Essentially, players can stack up multiple shots of her Sniper’s Mark Ultimate, which can then be used quickly after each other. It takes 40 seconds to charge an additional shot, but once its been acquired, it can be fired within a split second of the initial shot. This, as the Redditor shows, can be done while hipfiring and ADS’ing. The latter appears to be more accurate, with them being able to pull off the devastating kill that had baffled players initially, given the two shots combined for well over 200 damage. Some players called it an “incredibly lucky” tactic that is akin to button mashing, suggesting that Respawn should address it. “Died to this about an hour ago. Good to know the answer, even better if it’s fixed,” said one. It’s unknown if the devs will be taking a look at Vantage, especially with such a small amount of time left in Season 15.

  • Apex Legends destroys Fortnite’s record, hits 50 millions players worldwide – Dexerto

Apex Legends destroys Fortnite’s record, hits 50 millions players worldwide Apex Legends‘ meteoric rise doesn’t seem to be slowing down. It was confirmed on February 4, that 50 million players have now played the incredibly popular battle royale on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Another Apex Legends milestone It was only a matter of time before the popular title would hit the coveted 50 million unique players mark. This number is for worldwide players and presumably based on all platforms. It means that Apex Legends took just one month, or 28 days, to reach the 50 million player mark. This continues the theme of its groundbreaking growth after it took the game just eight hours to reach one million unique players, and 24 hours to reach 2.5 million. Apex Legends hit 50 Million players worldwide! We are humbled by all your support and can’t wait to show you what’s next. pic.twitter.com/QTDH57lfvB — Apex Legends (@PlayApex) March 4, 2019 Still no battle pass? These incredible numbers are in spite of the game not releasing its much anticipated battle pass yet as players continue to wait for the beginning of season one. Read More: When does Apex Legends season 1 begin? – The Apex Legends road-map stated that both will be coming in March. Therefore, Respawn Entertainment still have nearly a whole month to remain on schedule. Comparison to Fortnite Naturally, due to its incredible rise, Apex Legends is being directly compared to Fortnite. Epic Games’ biggest release is arguably one of the most popular games of all time and many consider it the benchmark for battle royale gaming. According to Roundhill Investments, in the image above, Fortnite took over a year to reach its 200 million player count and 16 weeks to reach 45 million players. This highlights just how fast Apex Legends has grown. Fortnite was one of the pioneers of the battle royale scene and it is therefore, perhaps, not fair to compare the two directly. It remains to be seen whether Apex Legends can amass the same total player count but it is certainly on its way to doing so.

  • Apex Legends desperately needs a new Support Legend in Season 12 – Dexerto

Apex Legends desperately needs a new Support Legend in Season 12 Respawn EntertainmentAfter six seasons of Offensive and Recon characters, Apex Legends needs a new Support Legend to counteract the chaos and provide an alternative style of play. Since Apex’s release all the way back in 2019, Respawn Entertainment has added 11 new characters to the roster, giving players a huge selection of 19 Legends in total. Each of these personalities have their own set of abilities and unique mechanics that can take thousands of hours to fully master. However, over the last six seasons, the devs have continuously introduced Offensive and Recon-style Legends that push players to take aggressive gunfights and hunt down their opponents. While this design choice does ensure matches are always action-packed, it doesn’t cater to players who prefer to take up a more supportive role, and it only adds to the long-standing third-party problem frustrating the community. One new Support Legend in 11 Seasons The last Support character to be added to the Apex roster was over 15 months ago with Loba in Season 5. Since then, Respawn has introduced three Offensive, two Recon, and a single Defensive Legend in the form of Rampart. However, with Rampart’s Ultimate now mobile, she’s just as much an assault Legend. While there’s no denying that the likes of Ash, Valkyrie, and Horizon are all expertly designed, they fail to offer any supportive abilities. Apart from a variety of repositioning tools that can be utilized by an entire squad, none of the recent arrivals can directly aid a teammate in battle like Lifeline. Not only that, Respawn’s decision to continue adding location and recon-style abilities to the game with Ash and in particular Seer, has only accelerated the third-party issue plaguing King’s Canyon, World’s Edge, and Olympus. After the infamous “scan meta” that arose with Seer in Season 10, it felt like a perfect opportunity to introduce a Support Legend in Season 11 that could act as a counter to the abundance of Recon and Offensive abilities. Instead, Titanfall’s Ash arrived, another Offensive character with an unbelievably fun kit that unfortunately still pushes the same search and destroy play style. The difficulties of designing a Support Designing an engaging Support Legend is not an easy task, and it also comes with a lot of risks that could significantly affect the game’s meta. While Respawn could take the safe route and create another Lifeline-style character that heals or regenerates shields, it’s safe to say that this wouldn’t satisfy a lot of the community. On the other hand, they have the option to create a Legend that counters Recon or Offensive abilities, like Bloodhound’s Tactical or Ash’s Passive. Although this sounds positive in practice, the devs have to be careful not to make the character too oppressive, as it’s all too easy to make a support Legend that becomes a must-pick overnight. The anti-recon or cloaking Support that’s been suggested by a lot by players could be an option for Respawn. Ex-Apex pro Snip3down even put forward a similar idea on Twitter shortly after the Season 10 update as an answer to Seer’s overpowered state at launch. Creating his own custom Legend, Snip3down presented a Support with an AOE Tactical that temporarily removes any scans, slows, or stuns. The next character in Apex should have an ability like a debuff, a new cool support character. Basically a Q that is AOE that removes all stuns/scans/slows. Would be a really good balance for the current character meta imo since there is no counters — FaZe Snip3down (@Snip3down) August 6, 2021 Although this is definitely a great idea, the execution has to be perfect or unlike an Offensive Legend, nerfs will run the risk of sacrificing what makes the character useful, so it will always be hard to strike a balance between too strong, and useless. With Season 12 on the horizon, it’s an opportunity for Respawn to deliver a well-thought-out Support that’s engaging and fun to play. On top of this, a Legend that slows down the pace of matches and potentially even counters a lot of the Recon abilities could help aid the frustrating third-party issues the community has been facing. Either way, after six seasons with no Support, the anticipation has been building and the devs will need to knock out of the park when the Legend finally arrives.

  • Apex Legends delays Chinatown Market event after company announces rebrand – Dexerto

Apex Legends delays Chinatown Market event after company announces rebrand Respawn EntertainmentRespawn decided to delay the launch of Chinatown Market crossover skins in Apex Legends after the clothing brand announced they were changing their name due to feedback from the Asian American community. Skins are an essential feature in Apex Legends. They add some much-needed flair to the game, and, along with other cosmetics, they allow players to express themselves in unique ways. Epic Games has taken the concept to the next level by releasing crossover skins with other franchises. Respawn Entertainment finally decided to follow suit and announced a crossover with Chinatown Market, a popular clothing brand. The skins were supposed to launch on March 30. However, it’s been delayed and will release at a later date with new designs after the company announced it was doing a complete rebrand due to backlash from the Asian American community over their name. Chinatown Market announced the news on social media. They explained that the Asian American community is “rightfully demanding” them to “think and act more honestly” about their name. Ultimately, they agreed the name was inappropriate and had to be changed. “We should have done this sooner, but it is never too late to do the right thing. Today, we are announcing that we are changing our name.” Read More: Best Apex legends skin concepts in March – “We did not do enough to consider what this name would mean to the communities in Chinatowns across the world, and we need to take ownership of this mistake. The skins were meant to launch tomorrow, but will now release later with new designs. — Apex Legends News (@alphaINTEL) March 29, 2021 Apex Legends players and Chinatown Market fans agreed it’s a positive change and a step in the right direction. And who knows, perhaps the new designs will be even better.

  • Apex Legends Deja Loot mode: Best landing spots on King’s Canyon – Dexerto

Apex Legends Deja Loot mode: Best landing spots on King’s Canyon Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends players have returned to King’s Canyon this week with the rinse-and-repeat “Deja Loot” mode after a week in World’s Edge. We’ve compiled all the best places to drop in the original map to get the best loot and guns. The trick to Apex’s latest limited-time mode is pretty simple. Instead of the usual completely random spawns for guns, equipment, and attachments, everything stays in the same place every time you load into a match. This means there are, naturally, better places to land, especially considering some points of interest are loaded to the brim with gold items. There’s even a few places where the new Evo Shields are available each and every match. There is only one catch to Deja Loot — the circle and the dropship changes each game. This does mean sometimes the best loot will be out of reach, but overall it’s best to land in the top-tier places every match for your best chance to win. We’ve compiled the top four best places to land in your Deja Loot games, taking into account both the level and rarity of the weapons and equipment found there, as well as how “hot” the drop will be each match. Here are the top drops: Artillery Available Loot: Gold helmet, R-301, Evo Shield, more In terms of the pure amount of rare loot in a single area, Artillery is inarguably one of the best places to land in Deja Loot after it’s arrived in King’s Canyon. Right off the bat, you can grab an R-301, a light mag, and an Anvil Receiver. If you’re not too interested in the assault carbine, Artillery also boasts some of the best rare items in the game — you can score a gold helmet, purple armor, or if you want to take a quick trip through the tunnel there’s even an Evo Shield. The Season 4 powerhouse rifle, the Hemlock, also awaits in the left-sided Artillery building. It has the same boost as the R-301 in this area, considering there’s an Avil Receiver just waiting to be attached in the back building. Finally, shotgun fans can emerge from the popular POI fully equipped too. Side-by-side in the right building is a Peacekeeper and an epic bolt — perfect for any early scraps. Head north of Containment to finish the loadout with a Precision Choke. Thunderdome Available Loot: Gold knockdown, G7 Scout, more Dropping into Thunderdome is probably the most dangerous landing spot we’ll suggest in this guide, but considering what’s waiting in the mega-popular King’s Canyon POI, it’s likely worth the early-game risk. Ignore the two Mozambiques in the center of the open space , they’re obviously not going to get you to a championship finish, unfortunately, and head straight to the three buildings to the north-east. There lies your first weapon pickups. The rarest item is also here, the gold knockdown. Grab that, before equipping the G7 Scout and the Alternator in the far-right building. Once you’ve got these strong light guns, you can head back into the middle-area battle. Once Thunderdome is clear, and you’ve got the epic light mag and Evo Shield, the map’s your oyster. The best thing about the Thunderdome drop is you can head any of Water Treatment, Skull Town, or Airbase, which are all great final locations. Labs Available Loot: R-99, Digital Threat, Gold stabilizer, more Now, this drop is going to be a bit more dangerous because of how popular Wraith’s Town Takeover is in the updated King’s Canyon, but if you’re interested in running and gunning to get the win, Labs is a must-pick location. The reason? There’s a clear path to some of the best close-range weapons in the game, and great attachments to put on them too. First off, dropping at Labs nets you an R-99 — your main gun for this run — and a gold backpack. Once you’ve got the deadly SMG, head south to the group of buildings under the mountain and grab the gold stabilizer there. Add this to your R-99. The final trek east may be the most dangerous part, especially if the ring is closing in on the other side of the map, but it’s worth it. In the Swamps, you’ll find a 1x Digital Threat threat to add to your R-99, as well as an Evo Shield. There are also two Anvil Receivers here, meaning if you want to head north-west to the edge of Wetlands you can add that gold attachment to the R-301 there. With a kitted-out R-99 as your main gun, and the carbine for range, you’re set. Water Treatment Available Loot: Charge Rifle, 8x Scope, more Most of these drops have been focused on collecting powerful close-range weapons like the R-99, the PK, and the all-star R-301, but what about drops for players who are more interested in picking up their enemies from distance? Water Treatment is probably the best drop for sniper-loving Apex players returning to King’s Canyon in Deja Loot. While many other POIs are dripping with light rifles and shotguns, the southern area is stacked with sniper rifles. In particular, landing to the right side of the Treatment buildings gives you two opportunities to get Season 3’s Charge Rifle. The energy gun-turned-sniper rifle has barely had a chance to shine on King’s Canyon, until now. There are also three Triple Takes across a few areas if you head out the north-east exit, while a key pickup — the epic 8x sniper scope — is available in one of the buildings nestled against the river below Repulsor. This is a must-get. Lastly, Water Treatment’s strength of drop comes from the combinations you can create with your snipers. If you grab either long-ranged rifle, make sure you also get the EVA-8 shotgun in the center building, and the Double Tap hop-up too. If you want to take full advantage of these top drop spots, you better get in quick too — Deja Loot, and the Override event, ends on March 17. King’s Canyon itself isn’t going anywhere at the end of the event, however, as the second split of Season 4’s ranked series will be played on the original map. We may even see new aliens and class passive buffs arrive at the same time.

  • Apex Legends dev defends Caustic changes after “devastating” nerfs – Dexerto

Apex Legends dev defends Caustic changes after “devastating” nerfs Respawn EntertainmentRespawn’s nerfs for Caustic in the Chaos Theory update patch set the community off. While some think the balance changes are great for the game, Caustic mains are concerned for the state of the Legend – but Respawn are cautiously optimistic. We already know that regardless of community sentiment, the Apex Legends devs are constantly monitoring how Caustic is performing in the wake of his latest round of updates. But to give a bit more context on the move, Associate Live Balance Designer John ‘JayBiebs’ Larson explained why Respawn “specifically targeted a damage reduction” instead of the Toxic Trapper’s other strengths. Calculations of Caustic’s gas damage by Redditor ‘DarthSatoris’ showed the nerfed version of Nox Gas leaves a lot to be desired: “Just to hammer home how ridiculous the Nox Gas nerf is, I’ve run the numbers and they are devastating.” But JayBiebs sees it a different way. While the nerfs could be seen as significant, the extended damage output from the barrels isn’t “very applicable” since Caustic or his team have been punishing anyone that stays in them for that long, according to the dev. “The goal of the change is to give the enemy team some power to close out fights against Caustics once they have a numbers advantage,” JayBiebs said. “All in all, gas still does direct health damage and there are plenty of reasons to not fight in gas unless you’re a Caustic… In our balancing conversations, this seemed like the fairest way to remove some power and frustration without being pattern breaking from a Caustic play style perspective.” In Respawn’s playtests, JayBiebs said that the nerfs didn’t really “affect how I approached gas fights (both as and against Caustic) in most scenarios,” so the goal was to give non-Caustic players more agency inside of the Nox fumes. Caustic’s gas won’t be hitting as hard as before, but Respawn are hoping that the utility it provides in classic gas traps will still be valuable for teams given its vision obstruction and slowing effects. From JayBiebs comments, Respawn aren’t looking to gut the Toxic Trapper’s power but they’re still trying to find the perfect balance to him.

  • Apex Legends December update: release date, new cosmetics, level cap – Dexerto

Apex Legends December update: release date, new cosmetics, level cap Major changes are coming to Apex Legends beginning in December that will give players more rewards to earn as the progression system is being tweaked. Many players have already capped out level 100 in Apex Legends and while the game is still fun, it’s always nice to have something to work towards. Beginning on December 3, the level cap will be raised from 100 all the way to 500, giving players a whole lot more leveling to do. If you haven’t reached level 100 yet, the XP needed to get there has decreased by 5% to help players reach it quickly so they can move on to the new content. Previously, there were 45 Apex Packs up for grabs by reaching the max level, but that will be bumped up to 199 for reaching level 500. Anyone who reached level 100 before this update goes live will be retroactively rewarded 14 Apex Packs to coincide with the change. Here’s a breakdown of how that will work: Level 2 – 20: One pack every level (19 Apex Packs total) – Level 22 – 300: One pack every two levels (140 Apex Packs total) – Level 305 – 500: One pack every five levels (40 Apex Packs total) – You will continue to earn 600 Legend Tokens per level and per 18,000 XP at level 500 – For the Gun Charm fans out there you’re in luck as 36 new ones that will be put into Apex Packs as well as the store for players to buy directly. Every 100 levels will reward players with a new weapon charm to show off. To sum up, if you like unlocking things as you play the game, then this December 3 update will appeal to you greatly. There’s a lot to look forward to here so whether you’re a frequent player or someone who’s looking to jump back into the action, this would be a good time. It’s going to be a lot of grinding so if that’s something that interests you then buckle up. For more information about this December update, you can check out Respawn’s blog post in full.

  • Apex Legends Dec 5 update nerfs Peacekeeper & EVA-8 shotguns – patch notes – Dexerto

Apex Legends Dec 5 update nerfs Peacekeeper & EVA-8 shotguns – patch notes Respawn Entertainment have released another update in Apex Legends, this time nerfing the Peacekeeper and EVA-8 shotguns as well as the Precision Choke Hop-Up attachment. Shotguns, especially the Peacekeeper, have been under significant scrutiny from the Apex Legends player-base for a while now, with many calling for Respawn to limit their effectiveness. This continued even after Respawn recently nerfed the Peacekeeper on November 22, but players remained dissatisfied because that update didn’t affect the weapon’s damage stats. Finally, on December 5, the players’ demands were addressed when the developers pushed out a server patch implementing nerfs to all of the shotguns except the Mozambique, which certainly doesn’t need any nerfing. A full breakdown of this update is available below, including the full patch notes and commentary from the developers explaining each change. Earlier today, we pushed a server patch, now live on all consoles, that included the following shotgun balance changes: 🔸Decreased bolt hit size for Peacekeeper and EVA-8 🔸Increased shot spread for Peacekeeper 🔸Increased spread on final Precision Choke level— Apex Legends (@PlayApex) December 5, 2019 Shotguns and Precision Choke nerfed in Apex Legends There were three major changes implemented via this December 5 update. The bolt hit size was reduced for both the Peacekeeper and EVA-8. Respawn explained that the idea behind this change was to make it more difficult to hit “full chunks of damage” while still ensuring that shots remain consistent in how they feel. Read More: All holiday Apex Legends skins leaked – The Peacekeeper’s shot spread was increased to force players to have to get closer to their enemies if they want to be still able to inflict 100+ points of damage with the weapon. The last change was for the Precision Choke Hop-Up, which can be equipped on only the Peacekeeper and Triple-Take sniper rifle. The spread on the final Precision Choke level was increased so to reduce the range at which players can do damage with a fully charged shot using the Hop-Up. Apex Legends December 5 update patch notes Here are the full patch notes and commentary for this server patch, as provided on Reddit. Hey gamers! Respawn just put out a server patch for all platforms with MORE balance adjustments for shotguns, specifically the Peacekeeper! See below for specifics, as well as some info about The Game Awards 2019! Decreased bolt hit size for Peacekeeper and EVA-8 Our goal here is to make it harder to land full chunks of damage while still making sure shots continue to feel consistent. – – – Increased shot spread for Peacekeeper We want to preserve its bursty fantasy of precision and snapshots, as well as its playmaking potential but felt that it’s been too strong at range so we’ve increased shot spread meaning that now players need to get closer in order to do full 100+ damage blasts with the Peacekeeper. – – – Increased spread on final Precision Choke level This reduces the range that you can do full damage with a fully charged Precision Choke shot. – – –

  • Apex Legends Dec 3 patch notes: new progression, Firing Range change, more – Dexerto

Apex Legends Dec 3 patch notes: new progression, Firing Range change, more Respawn Entertainment have released a major update in Apex Legends that implemented changes to the progression system, added friendly fire in Firing Range, and much more. This December 3 update is one of the biggest patches released in Apex Legends since the start of Season 3: Meltdown in early October. In addition to the progression changes and friendly fire in Firing Range, the update also added 36 new Gun Charms, implemented numerous quality of life improvements and bug fixes, a slight change to Knockdown Shields, and an adjustment to Wattson’s Trophy System. This update was actually slightly delayed by Respawn, who initially announced that it had been canceled but later decided to release it on PC only. Players on console had to wait an extra day for the patch to be available after their developers worked “all night” to release it, according to Respawn. Read More: New Apex Legends skins and cosmetics leaked – A full breakdown of everything in this patch is included below, including all of the changes, additions, and the full patch notes. We’re happy to report that the patch for consoles has also gone live. Players can now enjoy progression updates, friendly fire in Firing Range, and more across all platforms. Thank you all for your patience with this one. Apologies for the delay! — Apex Legends (@PlayApex) December 4, 2019 Progression changes For the first time in a long time, Respawn have made huge changes to the progression system in Apex Legends. The level cap has been increased from 100 to 500, with the XP required to hit level 100 reduced by about 5% to “smooth out per level XP increases.” As for what this means in terms of rewards, players will be able to earn up to 199 Apex Packs by reaching level 500, a massive increase over the previous maximum of 45 Packs. Here’s the rate at which these Packs will be earned: Level 2 – 20: One pack every level – Level 22 – 300: One pack every two levels – Level 305 – 500: One pack every five levels – You will continue to earn 600 Legend Tokens per level – Apex Packs rewards will be retroactive – Players will be awarded a Player Level Gun Charm for every 100 levels they surpass. – Friendly Fire in Firing Range The addition of Firing Range as a replacement for the previous training area in Apex Legends was very positively received by the player-base. Now, following the December 3 update, friendly fire has been enabled in Firing Range, allowing players who load in together to shoot at each other and inflict damage. This feature was highly requested by the community because it considerably expands the use of the practice arena, since players can now 1v1 each other and practice against live competition outside of regular matches. It will be offered as an option, so those who do not want it enabled can simply turn it off in the settings. Knockdown Shields buffed This update implemented several changes to how Knockdown Shields work, most of them being buffs. For one, Knockdown Shields now offer protection that extends over and behind players’ heads. Secondly, the healths of the gray Common shield and blue Rare shield have both been increased: Common [gray]: 100hp -> 200hp – Rare [blue]: 250hp -> 450hp – There was one slight nerf made – players will now move slower while their Shield is active, with the movement speed reduced from 0.65 to 0.55. Apex Legends December 3 update patch notes Here are the full patch notes, as provided by Respawn on Reddit: PROGRESSION UPDATE TL;DR – Player Level Progression Changes. Read the full notes here. You can toggle it off and on in the setting menu. The option only appears if more than one player is in the Firing Range with you. – [PC ONLY] Fixed cases where players could not enter the Firing Range. – Fixed various issues related to players in other realms affecting each other in Firing Range including: Seeing other Legends abilities and animations that are not in your realm. – Invisible zip lines. – – LEGENDS Wattson’s Trophy System The trophy system is now significantly more aggressive in the way it shoots down grenades. Rather than just identifying between incoming and outgoing projectiles, it now predicts the trajectory of grenades thrown within the interception zone and intercepts them if they will land anywhere within that zone. This means that no grenade can contact any surface within the interception zone regardless of team, but players can fire grenades outwards from anywhere within the zone. – –

  • Apex Legends ‘death spot’ on Olympus is getting players stuck & killed – Dexerto

Apex Legends ‘death spot’ on Olympus is getting players stuck & killed Respawn EntertainmentA bugged ‘death spot’ in Apex Legends has been discovered on Season 7’s new map, Olympus, that’s getting players stuck in place before eventually eliminating them completely. There’s a lot of room for error in the sky city of Olympus. The new Apex Arena has ample spots where players can simply fall off the map, tight corridors that are a death trap if not navigated correctly, and more pitfalls to watch out for at every corner. Unfortunately, the same can be said about simple features on the map, like the rotating Grow Towers that have already been known to prematurely end players’ games if they stay on the spinning platforms for too long. However, sometimes, even getting onto the Grow Towers’ platform in the first place can be a game-ender considering the curvature of the building’s base kept user ‘WOAHderWOAHder’ stuck until he died. After pinging their team’s next move on the screen, the player went up the tower’s half-pipe entrance but couldn’t clear the landing. Instead of being denied entry, they were just locked in mid-air, unable to move. They were spamming buttons to try and dislodge themselves from the death spot, even crouching to move the character’s model. But all that did was give them a look through the Apex map into the void down below. Eventually, the map dealt a killing blow to the Lifeline without a chance to escape the situation, and other people might have gone through similar scenarios. “Swear to God, I fucking hate climbing up on the Grow Towers! That first curve that you have to deal with is sooo annoying,” one said in response. Though the loot at the Grow Towers makes it a worthwhile detour in a match, there are some risks involved that players will want to think about before rotating over there. It’s unclear how to replicate this bug in Apex to best know when it could strike, but it’s only a matter of time before Respawn catches wind of the death spot and do a quick job of patching it.

  • Apex Legends deaths shows why players shouldn’t break down doors – Dexerto

Apex Legends deaths shows why players shouldn’t break down doors Kicking down a door and clearing the room of all hostiles in Apex Legends could be one of the most satisfying experiences, until it all goes wrong. Respawn Entertainment incorporated various fluid mechanics into their battle royale which gives players a lot of freedom when it comes to devising a proper engagement. Techniques like sliding without a run, turning non-lethal Ultimates into a weapon, and more. But some of the mechanics found in Apex Legends are proving to be a detriment to players if used at the wrong time, such as leaving oneself completely exposed to a counterattack after busting down a door. A perfect example of this was captured by Reddit user ‘ElGuambra’ as the game was winding down with only two squads left to determine who would take the Champion screen. ElGuambra was looting a few death boxes before he heard the other team encroaching on their position. This prompted the player to immediately retreat into the building their team was taking shelter in. Body blocking the door so that the enemy Gibraltar couldn’t get easy access inside the room, the player saw that the opponent was getting ready to kick down the barrier, so they took out their Karber. After Gibraltar broke the door, the animation followthrough left the opponent exposed for half a second, long enough for ElGuambra to land a perfect shot and instantly downing the enemy. Then it was a simple matter of landing close range Wingman shots on opponent’s teammate to secure the win. Knocking down a door can be a great way to catch players unaware, but some players are saying that getting caught like this Gibraltar did is a problem on Respawn’s balancing. “This is just shit balancing on Respawn’s part,” one user said. “The LAST person that should be a threat when you’re kicking down the door should be the person on the other side.” They think that a “concussion stun” to the player body blocking could be an efficient way of preventing these instances since “camping doors like that shouldn’t even be a thing.” Regardless, until a mechanic like that makes its way into Apex Legends, players can still punish opponents recklessly kicking down doors.

  • This Apex Legends Death Box revamp would make looting a lot more efficient – Dexerto

This Apex Legends Death Box revamp would make looting a lot more efficient TreyarchLooting is one of the most important aspects of Apex Legends, and one players has proposed an idea that could make looting Death Boxes a lot easier and faster. What are Death Boxes in Apex Legends? Death Boxes are crates of loot dropped by players when they get eliminated that carry all of the inventory they had when they were still alive. When a player gets eliminated, the dead body gets replaced instantly with a Death Box, which will take on the color of the highest rarity item in the crate. How does looting Death Boxes in Apex Legends currently work? In order to loot a Death Box, you must first approach it and click the designated button to search through its contents. The current layout/UI that pops up when looting a Death Box has the items listed out one per line, separated by categories such as weapons, ammo, gear, attachments, and consumables. Each item features its logo, name, rarity, quantity, ammo count (in the case of ammo or weapons), and an indicator that lets you know if you currently can not pick up that selection. The current layout/UI for looting Death Boxes lists all of the contents one item per line, divided by categories. How can Death Boxes in Apex Legends be improved? Reddit user ‘Baby_Pigman’ has come up with a brilliant concept that would introduce three more layouts/UI for looting Death Boxes in addition to the one that exists now. Standard: The UI that currently exists in the game which features items listed one-per-line. – Compact: Similar to the Standard in the listing pattern but minimized to show a lot more items at once – Small Grid: Lists like items next to each other in a grid instead of one-per-line in a list. All information still presented, including names of items. – Big Grid, No Names: Similar to the Small Grid but removes the names to make more space for each selection to be larger. All info still presented except for names. – This Reddit concept would allow players to choose one of four layout/UI options to pop up when they’re looting Death Boxes. The way this concept would work is that players would now have the ability to select what kind of UI they wanted to pop up when looting Death Boxes. Players who enjoy the current UI would just stick with the Standard, while others would have three new options to choose from that could make the game a lot more playable for them. Read More: How to watch Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge Rematch qualifier – schedule, format, players, and more – With this ingenious concept already out there, the main question remains whether Respawn Entertainment would be willing to implement it or something similar to the game. Seeing as how the game is still only around two months old, it’s not out of the question that we could see something like this sooner rather than later.

  • Apex Legends fans spark debate by claiming it’s “dead” for casual players – Dexerto

Apex Legends fans spark debate by claiming it’s “dead” for casual players Electronic ArtsApex Legends players have sparked a debate in the community, discussing whether or not Respawn’s battle royale is still fun for casual players. Apex Legends is approaching its four-year anniversary, and millions of players still take up in-game arms every day. Plenty of users are bonafide Apex veterans, having mastered the game in many respects in the last three-plus years. But newcomers regularly enter the fray as well, trying their hand at all the popular battle royale has to offer. Unfortunately, the experience isn’t always kind to those who’ve yet to reach higher levels. Fans debate whether Apex Legends is still fun for casual players In a post that now boasts 3,000 upvotes, Reddit user Cseresznyebog put forth the argument that Apex Legends is “dead for casuals.” According to the Redditor, matches too often feature high-level players who “just want to stomp on lower-skilled players because they are not good enough.” Cseresznyebog adds that improved matchmaking would work wonders, as their enjoyment of Apex would increase tenfold against similarly skilled opponents. Responses to the thread suggest many other Apex Legends fans agree with this talking point. Users such claim they regularly wind up in pubs and ranked matches with people who aren’t in their skill bracket. “Yep, I solved that problem by uninstalling Apex and moving on with my life,” said another Apex player in response. Another redditor added their voice to the chorus, saying battle royale is “terrible for the average 1kd player.” Several others lamented that Apex Legends doesn’t really offer casual players a chance to improve. Typically, pubs should offer somewhat of a laidback experience, while ranked play is for learning. As one player opined, however, Apex only features “ranked and ranked lite.” Of course, cheating remains an ongoing issue as well, but it seems as though many of Apex Legends’ lingering troubles would be solved with a better matchmaking system.

  • Apex Legends dataminer reveals how Muzzle Flash might be reworked soon – Dexerto

Apex Legends dataminer reveals how Muzzle Flash might be reworked soon Respawn EntertainmentProminent Apex Legends dataminer That1MiningGuy has found information that suggests fixes for the controversial Muzzle Flash mechanic could be on their way soon. Since the early days of Apex Legends, Muzzle Flash has always been one of the most complained about features in the battle royale. However, despite months of negative feedback about it, Respawn still haven’t done much to address it. Even now, players continue to be frustrated by the bright light that emanates from their weapons when shooting, which can severely affect accuracy and vision during gunfights. However, that could be changing soon. According to That1MiningGuy, one of the most trusted sources for Apex news and leaks, Respawn could be working on a way to implement some improvements. While he does make it clear that nothing is 100% certain yet, he’s apparently found enough information in the game’s back-end files that there’s some Muzzle Flash testing going on. “So I’m seeing some indications in the cod that Muzzle Flash is being looked at / adjustments are being tested,” he tweeted. “Nothing too concrete to post yet, but can see that they’ve tested on it.” https://twitter.com/That1MiningGuy/status/1228359605056610311 He went on to reveal that Respawn could be considering tying Muzzle Flash with the suppressors, which he says is the codename for the game’s Barrel Stabilizers. Essentially, the higher tier Barrel Stabilizer you have equipped on your weapon, the less of the annoying light you’d have to experience. As for the guns that don’t have a slot for that attachment, the devs would just lower the flash by a uniform amount. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that improvements to Muzzle Flash might be coming soon. Back on January 10, Respawn producer Josh Medina revealed that they were “adjusting it,” and the reason why it was taking so long is that it’s “a deeper issue than expected” and they want to “properly fix instead of half-ass it.” While it’s clear that nothing is set in stone yet, the fact that there is some activity going on is undoubtedly a positive sign. As That1MiningGuy said in his tweet, it’s nice to see the devs acting on community feedback, even if it’s for something that’s long overdue. As always, we will continue to bring you the latest details as more information becomes available.

  • Apex Legends dataminer leaks new details about Season 2 changes – Dexerto

Apex Legends dataminer leaks new details about Season 2 changes @ShrugtalNew details have been leaked about the possible changes coming in Season 2 of Apex Legends, following the launch of the Legendary Hunt event. Respawn released the v1.2 update in Apex Legends on June 4 that kick-started the Legendary Hunt limited-time event, while also adding some new things in the back end of the game files. Thanks to data-miner ‘RENgOLD’ on Reddit, the changes they made in the game files have now been found and leaked, and they include two new legendary attachments, a new type of equipment, and the possible release of Flyers. New Legendary weapon attachments After the June 4 update, the massive list of voice commands in Apex Legends saw several new lines added to it, including Legends pinging ‘Level 4’ shotgun bolts and sniper stocks. Level 4, or Legendary, is the highest rarity of weapon attachments, and in the current version of the game, there are no Legendary shotgun bolts or sniper stocks. You can hear both new lines of dialogue in the video below: Another data-miner, named ‘omegatheory,’ seemed to confirm that the two new Legendary attachments would be added soon to the game, and even offered details on their improved function compared to their lower-rarity counterparts. Bonus for Legendary shotgun bolt: “Maximum upgrade to fire rate. 15% movement speed increase.“ – Bonus for Legendary sniper stock: “Fast handling & large aim drift reduction. Deals up to 120% damage the further away the target is.“ – Possible release of Flyers In Respawn’s Titanfall series, there exist creatures called Flyers, which are similar to dragons in that they are massively large and have wings that allow them to fly through the air at great heights and speeds. While they do not exist in the world of Apex Legends, the latest update has introduced new ping options for Legends to point out caged and uncaged Flyers on the map, suggesting that these creatures could make their debut in the next Season. These new ping option can be clearly seen at the top right hand side of the video below, starting at the 22 second mark. This isn’t the first time that Flyers have been seen or mentioned in regards to Apex. Several weeks ago, a piece promotional artwork was leaked showing the Octane Legend riding what appears to be that creature alongside other Legends who were in mid-flight. Furthermore, a group of these very same beasts can be seen flying in the sky in the official trailer for Season 1 – Wild Frontier, right at the 32 second mark of the video. New equipment type Last but not least, the data-miner found strong evidence that a fifth equipment type was coming soon to players’ inventories. Images taken after the update went live showed a fifth inventory slot next to teammates’ names on the player’s main HUD. There are currently only four equipment types available in Apex Legends, reserved for helmets, body armor, knockdown shields, and backpacks. As for what that fifth slot could be for, that remains a mystery for now. The full Reddit post for the new content discovered by the data-miner can be seen below: While these leaks do seem credible, this information was not officially announced or confirmed by Respawn or EA, so there’s always the chance that none of it ends up actually being in the game. To be sure, the only option is to just wait until Season 2 to see what changes the developers have in store for the players.

  • Apex Legends dataminer hints at Season 3 events, upcoming legends – Dexerto

Apex Legends dataminer hints at Season 3 events, upcoming legends RespawnAn Apex Legends data miner has hinted at the possible content that is in-store with the remainder of Season Three including new playable legends and legend-based events for Bloodhound and Mirage. Apex Legends Season 3: Meltdown is still in its infancy after launching on October 1, despite adding Crypto, the World’s Edge map, and a new weapon in the Charge Rifle. While that influx of new content right off the bat might satisfy the hunger of many fans, it doesn’t stop others from digging through the files in the hopes of getting some early information. It usually pays off in the form of new character leaks, weapons, and cosmetics – and it’s no different this time around either. Apex Data miner Shrugtal, who leaked some spooky voice lines for the upcoming Shadowfall LTM, and details about the Halloween Fight or Fright event, has speculated about what else might be yet to come in season three. Read More: Apex Legends: How to win with Crypto – Backed up by previously uncovered code that relates to events and new characters, the dataminer guessed that following the Halloween-themed event, Mirage would get his time to shine in December. The bamboozling legend would be followed, naturally, by a Christmas/Winter-themed event over the holiday break, with Bloodhound then getting their own takeover from January through February. So I’ve put together my thoughts on the upcoming content roadmap. It’s pretty hopeful to assume new content every month or so, but I think it’s possible. Apologies for the scuffed image. pic.twitter.com/yOVNjqxaJ5 — Shrugtal (@shrugtal) October 11, 2019 They also listed the likelihood of new legends appearing throughout the season – which would, compared to season’s two and one, be different than launching with a new character. According to Shrugtal, they believe that Revenant would be the most likely, followed by Loba, and Revenant. All these characters have got strings of code in different files, with other leaks pointing at some legends being more advanced in development than others. Seeing as these details are all speculative from the dataminer, it’s not yet known if any of them will come off, or if Respawn has a different roadmap for the content up their sleeve. Shrugtal, though, has been reliable in the past, so it is worth taking notice of compared to more random ‘leakers’ who have popped up with information previously.

  • Apex Legends dataminer explains what the Capitol City ‘meteor’ could be – Dexerto

Apex Legends dataminer explains what the Capitol City ‘meteor’ could be The Apex Legends community is in a buzz of excitement over the possibility of a Season 4 teaser finally starting, after a mysterious projectile detonated in Capitol City, and data-miner That1MiningGuy believes he’s solved the puzzle. With Respawn’s third season of the battle royale rolling to a close at the end of the month, players are chomping at the bit to find out where Apex Legends is headed next after nearly four months battling on the much-maligned World’s Edge. Apex’s new anniversary event the ‘Grand Soirée Arcade’ may have gone some way to whet appetites, but players are mostly keen to see what changes are coming in Season 4 — and the first hint may already be raining down on Capitol City. While some have speculated the mysterious object could be a meteor, similar to Fortnite’s Season 3-ending event where Dusty Depot was wiped off the map, That1MiningGuy has another theory: one that may involve Gibraltar’s ultimate. According to the popular data-miner, there’s a spot north of Capitol City where you can make Gibraltar’s Defensive Bombardment “fall through the map,” just near the gaps that lead from the hills into either The Geyser or Fuel Depot. If pulled off correctly, the bugged Gibraltar ultimate will actually land on the game’s horizontal axis in the X, Y, and Z codes. This means the barrage would come in from the side of the screen, instead of from the sky as it’s supposed to. “Likely what’s happening is, at a certain distance, the radius can crest the game’s ‘horizon,’ and allow the bombardment to actually launch horizontally instead of vertically, which would then cause what we see in the two videos,” he explained. “It’s a rare and freaky bug… but I believe the randomization of the projectiles still uses the beacon’s location to determine what coordinate the bombardments can hit. Therefore, once it gets too far away, it would allow for some weird results.” https://twitter.com/That1MiningGuy/status/1215366398869999619 That1MiningGuy added the sound of the “meteor” players have been claiming to see was likely a variant of the “Wpn_DefensiveBombardment_Incoming_Mid” soundbite in the code, and could sound “strange” because it’s coming in sideways. Not every part of the mystery was solved, however, with the data-miner admitting he had “never seen” the explosion he suspected was a “rogue” ult. Because not every element lined up, he added he wasn’t “100% sure” it was an ult at all. “I’m still not 100% sure it’s a Gibby ult,” he said. “You can feel free to believe what you want, but with the above evidence, the only explanation to me is that if it’s not a bugged Gibby ult, they [Respawn] reused all those assets for the EE.” https://twitter.com/That1MiningGuy/status/1215366410177781765 Considering the data-miner spends a lot of his time digging through the game’s codes and audio files, he would definitely have a good idea if the ‘meteor’ was just another bug added to the ever-growing pile of glitches in the battle royale. Read more: Apex’s Grand Soirée Arcade event: 7 new modes, skins, more But, just like many of the players that first spotted the strange explosions in Capitol City, That1MiningGuy isn’t 100% sure what we’re seeing either — at this point, it may take Respawn developers actually wading into the discussion to put it all to bed, as they did when they shut down potential Revenant rumors earlier this week. UPDATE: That1MiningGuy replied to Dexerto, revealing he had spoken to one of the developers at Respawn, who he would not name, who confirmed his initial theory on why the projectiles were going on rogue across Capitol City was “likely the case.” “It’s awesome that people are hyped for stuff to start happening, but this ‘meteor’ isn’t it just yet,” he added.

  • Apex Legends datamine reveals secret Titanfall weapon added in Collection Event – Dexerto

Apex Legends datamine reveals secret Titanfall weapon added in Collection Event Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends dataminer has discovered that a powerful Titanfall weapon was added to the game files in the Beast of Prey Collection Event. Apex Legends Season 14 is well underway and while the major update added Vantage, a reworked Kings Canyon, and of course the massive level cap increase, the community now has their eyes firmly fixed on Season 15. Although there are a lot of rumors circulating about the next major update, including the potential arrival of a Moon map, a lot of players are still holding out hope for a new weapon. With the last gun arriving back in Season 11 with the CAR SMG, Apex fans are keen to see another one added to the loot pool. Well, a reliable dataminer has discovered that Respawn added an iconic Titanfall weapon to the files in the recent Collection Event, and it’s an “anti-Titan launcher”. Archer rocket launcher added to Apex Legends game files Reliable Apex Legends YouTuber and dataminer KralRindo has discovered that Titanfall’s Archer rocket launcher was added to the game files in the Beast of Prey Collection Event. This “anti-Titan” weapon is capable of dealing massive damage to targets and would be a force to be reckoned with in the battle royale. It’s worth noting that although it’s been found in the files, there are no stats for the gun so it’s impossible to know what Respawn has planned. Not only that, it’s possible the launcher will never arrive in-game, but it’s certainly interesting that they’ve added it to the files so close to Season 15. While a rocket launcher would be incredibly fun to use against opponents from long-range, it would be difficult to balance damage-wise. Not only that, they’d potentially have to design new attachments and hop-ups for the Archer, unless it appeared as a Care Package gun, which is certainly an option. Either way, the Archer is now in the files, and that means there’s a possibility another Titanfall weapon will be arriving in the Outlands at some point in the future.

  • Apex Legends datamine potentially leaks future content – weapons, attachments, and more – Dexerto

Apex Legends datamine potentially leaks future content – weapons, attachments, and more Graphics: Respawn EntertainmentA brand new set of leaked items have been potentially leaked for Apex Legends, as a number of new features, weapons, and even more Titanfall 2 weapons could soon be headed into the game. Getting leaks from Reddit is always risky business, as there’s no real way to verify if they are real, since anybody could post a thread and claim they are a leaker. With that said, many leaks have been posted on the platform in the past that have turned out to be true, so you shouldn’t discredit everything – just make sure you take them with a grain of salt. A Reddit thread from user Kyr4l claims to have extracted the game files of Apex Legends, and found a huge stash of voice lines that could be an indicator of what’s to come in the future. A number of items, features, and even weapons were included in this apparent datamine, many of which appear to have came right from Titanfall 2. Remember, though, they’re not confirmed in any way at this stage. Now, while some inaccurate leaks in the past have included features from the EA game, the arrival of the L-Star LMG in Season 2 certainly opens the door for more arrivals from the Titanfall world in the future. So, let’s take a look at everything that was included in the supposed leak: Leaked Apex Legends features and items Extended shotgun mags – Experimental ammo/weapons – Bandolier – Pings for Leviathans – Moving Leviathans voice lines – Interceptor pings – Friendly smokes & traps: Voice lines from Gibraltar say “smoke out” and “friendly trap deployed,” according to the source – Portable respawn beacon – Detailed voice lines about optics: Legends could soon call out optics they find – Flash hiders – There is also a number of weapons that were detailed in the potential leak, many of which will be very familiar for Titanfall 2 players – with the Softball, Volt, and some others included. Potentially leaked weapons for Apex Legends Volt: A submachine gun from Titanfall 2, which uses energy ammo – Softball: Grenadier weapon from Titanfall 2 that uses sticky grenades – Rocket launcher and archer – EPG: Grenadier weapon from Titanfall 2 – Defender/Charge Rifle: Anti-titan weapon from Titanfall 2 – Cold War: Grenadier weapon from Titanfall 2 – CAR SMG: Very low recoil submachine gun from Titanfall 2 – One thing of note that does stand out from the list is the portable respawn beacon that was leaked July 12. This item did have a sound file for us to listen to, so it might give this list of leaked sound files a bit more credit, since that’s now two people who have discovered it. Until we get official word from a Respawn developer, nothing is set in stone. Apex doesn’t receive the level of updates like a game like Fortnite does, so if these changes are coming, expect them to come in a major update. With so much from Titanfall 2 slated to make its way into Kings Canyon in the future, we’ll have to wait and see if it comes off. Last updated July 16, 2019 at 5:40am (EST).

  • Apex Legends data miners debunk World’s Edge night map ‘leak’ – Dexerto

Apex Legends data miners debunk World’s Edge night map ‘leak’ Respawn EntertainmentIt looks like the rumors swirling about a nighttime version of World’s Edge coming to Apex Legends are unwarranted, as the image of what it would look like appears to simply be a bug or a fake. Fans have grown accustomed battle royale maps changing frequently, and in Apex, the inception of new seasons brings plenty of map changes, and sometimes even new maps. The World’s Edge map came at the beginning of Season 3, replacing Kings Canyon, although both maps are now rotated. There is already a nighttime variant of Kings Canyon, but fans have been left in the dark (pun intended) over the chances of a night World’s Edge. That is, until a strange glitch emerged, described by the Redditor who found it as “blue and darker” than the normal map. Many speculated that the bug was accidentally revealing an early look at a Season 6 World’s Edge variant, but a host of leakers have now had their say. Reliable leaker Biast12 was among those to cast doubt on the glitch, explaining: “Time to clarify, this is not a night map. A night version needs a .rpak file for the map, and we don’t have that – it’s 100% fake/fan-made/a bug”. Time to clarify, this is not a night map, a night version needs a .rpak file for the map, and we don’t have that = it’s 100% fake/fanmade/a bug, 1/3 pic.twitter.com/mqKFFJ3yBf — Biast12 (Tobias) (@Biast12) July 31, 2020 He confirmed that the only night variant map in the game’s files is for Kings Canyon – a variant we already have. Just so you know, this is all the map .rpak files we got rn, and “mp_rr_canyonlands_mu1_night” is the only night map in there, and mp_rr_canyonlands_mu1_night is night KC 3/3 pic.twitter.com/SvZQMOZbc9 — Biast12 (Tobias) (@Biast12) July 31, 2020 Biast’s words were echoed by fellow data miner Shrugtal: “This is either a really good fake or some obscure bug… Impossible to switch to a map that doesn’t exist mid-respawn. Doubt it means anything for WE After Dark”. This is either a really good fake or some obscure bug where respawning loads wrong color correction raw_hdr (KC:AD instead of WE). Impossible to switch to a map that doesn’t exist mid-respawn. Doubt it means anything for WE After Dark.https://t.co/fmPegENHre — Shrugtal (@shrugtal) July 31, 2020 So, there you have it. If Respawn are indeed working on a night variant of World’s Edge, it doesn’t appear to be in the game’s files yet. There have even been rumors of another new map coming to Apex Legends in the near future which, if true, would be far higher up Respawn’s priority list.

  • Apex Legends data miner reveals tour video of entire UFO location – Dexerto

Apex Legends data miner reveals tour video of entire UFO location Respawn/EAApex Legends fans who are still waiting for the UFO to appear on Kings Canyon have got their best look at the upcoming location yet thanks to one creative fan who combined data mining and animation tools. Back in June, when Respawn were conducting a dev stream for Apex Legends’ Lost Treasure collection event, fans got a quick glimpse at a mysterious UFO-like point of interest floating off the Broken Coast South location. Some leakers have tried to get details on just what the location has in store for players, including its name and where it will end up on the map, but that well has dried up just a little. However, some creative players have been able to get ‘inside’ the new location by using a bit of animation magic – as well as some data mining. The updated first look comes from Reddit user KralRindo, who apparently “data harvested” the POI from the Apex Legends files and managed to get it running – to scale – inside of Blender, an app used for game design. As the clip shows, the mysterious location – which is apparently to scale – is pretty huge and offers up different fighting possibilities with different levels – including an upper walkway which looks over the ground. Obviously, in KralRindo’s clip, the POI does not look fully complete as it’s pretty much all grey and doesn’t have any spots where you’d find loot. So, it’s probably an early version of the location that needs a bit more polishing before it’s sent to the live servers. Of course, before the location goes live, Respawn could make a few more tweaks – say a spot becomes too powerful during their playtests and ends up guaranteeing players wins if they decide to hide there. We’ll just have to wait and see as to what the Apex devs have up their sleeve once the mysterious location shows up in matches.

  • Apex Legends data miner reveals identity of mystery ship above the map – Dexerto

Apex Legends data miner reveals identity of mystery ship above the map Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends players might have moved a step closer in their search for Season 4 clues as a data miner has revealed the most likely identity of a mysterious ship floating high above the map. That1MiningGuy has been the first to many of the developer’s biggest secrets, uncovering plans for Town Takeovers, new legends, and much more well before they ever arrived in-game. And now, it appears that the leaker has come up with another interesting discovery. There has been plenty of crossover between Titanfall titles and the new uber-popular Apex Legends since the latter first launched in February of last year, and it appears yet another feature from the popular franchise has been added to Respawn’s game. Many players have been wondering what the beaming light in the sky is on the World’s Edge map, as unfortunately, they can’t travel that high up in-game, and it looks like That1MiningGuy has come to a conclusion about what it is – clearing up some previous suspicions in the process. The data miner looked into it, searching through the data files for hints, and shared findings to their Twitter followers on January 23. They posted: “Pretty sure Shrugtal is right about that light in the sky being a Harvester. They were reportedly used by both sides in Titanfall 2 and are used to extract minerals from a planet. Interesting.” https://twitter.com/That1MiningGuy/status/1220433995139289096 The Twitter user he cited in the tweet, Shrugtal, has been theorizing about what may happen next in the game and it looks like they might be right. Whether or not the Harvester’s potential presence will have anything to do with the storyline for Season 4 remains to be seen, although with the return of King’s Canyon been confirmed by developers – as it’s coming back to Ranked Mode – there’s a chance that this could tie in with that. For those who have never seen a Harvester before, it’s a lit up, cylinder-shaped aircraft that can drop on land – as seen below. One of these bad boys (“”Harvesters””) to suck out the planet’s resources gonna land in Hot Springs then (typical corporate “”improvements””) . Going off the new zone name “”Harvester””. I think blue lights are almost certainly thrusters of a a ship carrying this? pic.twitter.com/llKUC1kosB — Shrugtal (@shrugtal) January 23, 2020 There’s also the small matter of upcoming map changes being confirmed for World’s Edge. So, the mineral extracting Harvester could play a part in that journey for players as well. Season 4 has been officially named ‘Assimilation’ and there’s a good chance that when it eventually drops, so too will the Harvester from the sky and give fans a chance to see what it’s doing in Apex Legends once and for all.

  • Apex Legends Dark Depths event to add new ‘Habitat’ Arenas map – Dexerto

Apex Legends Dark Depths event to add new ‘Habitat’ Arenas map Respawn EntertainmentThe Dark Depths event is coming to Apex Legends, and it’s bringing a new Arena map Habitat along with it. Set on the same planet as Storm Point, this two-sided island offers a variety of both land-based and aquatic terrain. This new map is split in half and is intended to bring a breath of fresh air to the mode’s familiar three-lane layout. The inclusion of ziplines, angled surfaces to slide on, and the waterfall in the center of the fighting area means movement is more important than ever before in Arena and will doubtlessly make a huge impact on how any squad performs. New Apex Legends Habitat Arena map revealed Just like Storm Point, this battleground is based in the New Antillia archipelago of the planet Gaea. Known in-universe as Habitat 4, the IMC previously used this area to study the behavioral habits of the local leviathans. The playable area is composed of two sides — Nest and Cave — both of which offer unique experiences from one another. True to its name, the Nest holds a hoard of unbreakable eggs that are perfect for close-range Legends to use as cover while they weave in and out of fights. On the other side, Cave offers a more mid-range intensive experience, but according to the developer’s blog, it keeps players closer to the center of the map and to one of the mid-round airdrops. This half-and-half design style is intended to highlight how different Legends work better in different terrain and circumstances. Where Octane might excel when rubbing shoulders with the enemy team in the Nest, someone like Crypto could benefit from the slower pace and longer sightlines of the Cave side of the map. Both Habitat and the Dark Depths event as a whole, arrive in-game on January 11. If you’re interested in seeing what other content the update is bringing, then check out our full rundown here.

  • Apex Legends damage boosters embarrassed as undercover players get revenge – Dexerto

Apex Legends damage boosters embarrassed as undercover players get revenge Respawn EntertainmentA set of Apex Legends players decided to go undercover and betray a squad of boosters who were attempting to unlock the damage badges unfairly. While the use of third-party software and hacks can be identified and punished by Apex Legends’ automated system, not every form of cheating is so easy to track. One issue that often goes under the radar is players boosting for damage and kill badges instead of earning them on their own. Usually, the only way to get boosters banned or suspended is to catch them red-handed with a clip and send it over to the security team at Respawn. Well, instead of leaving justice for the devs, one set of Apex players decided to infiltrate a boosting operation and take them down from the inside. Undercover Apex players serve justice to cheating boosters After reaching the endgame of a match with one other enemy squad, Notoriousjello and their team decided to meet their opponents in the middle of the endgame circle. The opposing set of players immediately started dropping Shield Batteries and Pheonix Kits, suggesting they wanted to farm damage but Notoriousjello didn’t want to participate, complaining that it “feels like it’s cheating”. It wasn’t long before Notoriousjello confessed that they just wanted to “beam them” and their entire squad decided to pick a target and wipe out the boosters. Screaming “three, two, one, go”, Notoriousjello and their teammates instantly killed all of the boosters, serving up justice before they could secure the badges. Boosting may not be as detrimental to Apex when compared to hacking or DDoSing, but it still devalues badges and the achievements of other players. Hopefully, Respawn can implement a system that detects boosting in the future to prevent this from happening as frequently. However, in the meantime, it’s great to see players like Notoriousjello taking justice into their own hands.

  • Apex Legends streamer Daltoosh apologizes for ‘unacceptable’ racist joke on Twitch – Dexerto

Apex Legends streamer Daltoosh apologizes for ‘unacceptable’ racist joke on Twitch Twitter, @daltooshAfter making a racist joke on Twitch, Apex Legends streamer Daltoosh has publicly apologized and thanked those who called him out. Other streamers, like NRG’s Rogue and Sweet, have also apologized for failing to speak out against Daltoosh earlier. To sum it all up, Daltoosh was watching a viral golfing video online in which a golfer has a prominent tan line. He proceeds to crack a joke by contrasting the “401k” lighter part of the golfer’s skin with the tanned, “Nae Nae” side. The joke essentially compares proper financial planning with a 2015 dance coined by Black artist Silento, and people were quick to call Daltoosh out on the casual racism. Watching the video, it seems to be a light-hearted joke from his perspective, which has led to some people defending the humor as well. In his apology, Daltoosh has not only said sorry and thanked those who called him out, but also criticized those who have defended him for minimizing the impact of casual racism. What your favorite streamer really thinks 😒 pic.twitter.com/LRa2BBE84P — TPT |CAPTION_NASTY BLM (@Caption_nasty) June 29, 2021 As you can hear Daltoosh say, “that man is two races at once … up top, you thinking like 401k, right here you thinking like ‘Nae Nae.’” Fairly quickly, social media and the Black Apex Legends community reacted — most slamming the joke and some defending it. The latter point was at the heart of Daltoosh’s apology, where he makes note of needing to be accountable and a better example before jumping into why he shouldn’t be defended. As he explains, people who were offended “have every right to feel” that way and that, as a privileged white person, he can’t do anything but “take full accountability.” Taking aim specifically at his defenders, he notes that “the people who have been defending me, calling others snowflakes or soft are not understanding that this isn’t about them.” NRG’s Rogue and Sweet were both also looped in, as fans criticized them for being slow to call out Daltoosh on his joke. Both apologized, focusing on their efforts to get educated on the subject. Sad way to end my birthday, being called out for not using my platform the way others would like hurts. I try my best to play the role of a fun twitch chat that doesn’t enter politics or world issues, just video games. I still took the time today to talk about the toosh thing 1/2 — sweet (@sweetdreams) July 3, 2021 Overall, reactions have been mostly positive to the three streamers’ apologies. People generally want to see Daltoosh’s actions begin matching his apologetic words, but are glad he’s being conscious of his privilege and intends to improve. As for the others, the Apex community seems happy there’s some accountability for inadequate allyship as well. While people appear to believe there’s more work to be done, there’s a sense that these commitments to learning, being conscious, and improving are a step in the right direction. Apex Legends is angled as one of gaming’s most diverse titles, so it stands to reason that there is an impetus for the game’s players to lead the charge on inclusivity as well.

  • Apex Legends’ Crypto & Wraith look amazing as Animal Crossing creations – Dexerto

Apex Legends’ Crypto & Wraith look amazing as Animal Crossing creations Respawn Entertainment/NintendoA pair of creative Apex Legends fans have done a fantastic job of bringing their favorite characters, Wraith and Crypto, to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. New Horizons is the latest game in the Animal Crossing series and, similar to past games, it allows players to customize clothing and share their designs with others. Animal Crossing players have been sharing their custom outfits and designs practically since the game came out, and Reddit user ventusnightshade has some of the best Apex Legends designs we’ve seen yet. Nightshade’s take on Crypto manages to recreate his hair and captures the character perfectly with a relaxed, confident facial expression. With the Custom Design Pro Editor, they were able to make Crypto’s green and white trenchcoat as well – and of course the tech-savvy legend is on his phone in every photo. Wraith’s hair is also on point and Nightshade’s partner in crime pulled off an impressive recreation of the legend’s costume. The Interdimensional Skirmisher seems to be enjoying New Horizons along with everyone else because she’s cracking the rare smile, but the best detail of Animal Crossing Wraith has to be her ‘void’ eyes. Unfortunately, Nightshade said they hadn’t unlocked the Able Sisters, so they aren’t able to share the codes for the Crypto and Wraith designs with other players yet. Designs can be uploaded at the Custom Designs Kiosk at the Sisters’ shop, which you unlock with 5000 Bells after building Nook’s Cranny and interacting with Mabel when she visits your island. After you upload a design, you get a string of letters and numbers. If you take one of these codes from another player to the Kiosk, you can upload and use them in your game. While Nightshade said they hadn’t unlocked the sisters yet, they said they would do their best to share it with anyone who wanted to use it. Now that we’ve seen Crypto and Wraith, we’ll be patiently waiting for the other stars of Apex Legends to show up as well to join them.

  • Apex Legends: Crypto voice actor talks favorite landing spot, gun, more – Dexerto

Apex Legends: Crypto voice actor talks favorite landing spot, gun, more EAApex Legends is getting a new character for Season 3 in Crypto, and his voice actor Johnny Young talked a bit about his favorite landing spot, gun, and other things in the game. The third season of Apex Legends is set for release in October, and the voice actor behind Crypto helped build some extra hype by answering some questions about his favorite parts of the game. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to give extra details about what Season 3 holds, but he still revealed some interesting things about the character. In an interview with the Apex Legends subreddit, he talked about how he wasn’t able to tell anyone about the upcoming Legend, but he had to keep it a secret until it was officially revealed. “I have friends that I play with and I had to pretend I knew nothing while we would play or when I would see Reddit posts like “man… I hope they do more trailers”, I’d want to shake my monitor and be like IT’S COMING WOOOO YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT’S COMING!” the voice actor said. Of course, the cat’s out of the bag now, but we still don’t know about the role he will play in the third season or how his abilities will work. Instead of telling us, Young spoke a bit about his favorite landing spot in the game currently, something that will surely change when the new map releases. “Supply Ship or furthest away from the chaos,” which is a fair response for anyone that’s trying to become the Apex Champion. Crypto and Season 3 begin on October 1, and all of our questions will be answered.

  • Apex Legends: Crypto teaser is “loading” into the game – Dexerto

Apex Legends: Crypto teaser is “loading” into the game Respawn EntertainmentApex Legends players are reporting multiple sightings of a “decryption hack” loading in various parts of King’s Canyon, possibly signaling a teaser for Crypto. Due to leaks teasing an in-game reveal for the upcoming Legend, players have been looking forward to finally seeing what Respawn has in store for its 11th character for the game. While the community has already seen Crypto’s influence on Kings Canyon, he has yet to make a full appearance. As Apex Legends Season 3 fast approaches, it looks like Respawn Entertainment is on the cusp of giving players a load of new info regarding the mysterious Legend that has been eluding players so far. In September 10 reports, players have been seeing loading bars across multiple screens in the Apex Games with text that reads: “BNR-OS KEY DECRYPT.” At the time of writing, the loading bar is at 28% with some players believing that Respawn will launch an in-game reveal when it reaches to the full 100%. “So it’s actually loading in real-time?” one user asked. “Maybe we will get an event once it reaches 100%. I hope it’s an S3 tease with a short or a surprise crypto release (though I doubt that).” Apex Legends lore aficionado ‘FrozenFroh’ has been keeping a close eye on the progress of the bar, but there hasn’t been a definitive answer to how fast it’s loading so far. Moreover, fan speculation on previous progress of the bar is calculating rough estimates that indicate the loading should be completed by September 14 at around 11 am PST / 2 pm EST / 7 pm BST, though there isn’t a solid confirmation. There has been a lot of teasers in the lead up to Crypto’s reveal. Previously, dataminers have been collecting troves of leaks for not only the Legend but his rumored robotic companion. In fact, players went crazy when they found a mysterious laptop inside of the game which belonged to Crypto. The Apex Legends community has been loving the teasers that are apparently leading up to Crypto’s reveal, and we’ll see what Respawn has in store for its player base when the new progress bars finish loading.

  • Apex Legends Crypto skin leaked from St Patrick’s Day event – Dexerto

Apex Legends Crypto skin leaked from St Patrick’s Day event Respawn EntertainmentAnother St Patricks Day-themed Apex Legends skin has been revealed by a leaker as, this time, Crypto joins the brigade of green cosmetics. Like plenty of other popular titles, Apex Legends has been tying into real-world events and holidays with their own in-game events and cosmetics for the celebrations. With St Patricks Day on the horizon, coming on March 16 to be exact, it seems as if Respawn Entertainment will be joining the party and tapping into the all green colored celebrations. A ‘Leprechaun’ skin for Mirage was revealed on 5, with that supposedly being the next Twitch Prime cosmetic, but Crypto also appears to be getting some shine. The skin was revealed by Apex Legends leaker iLootGames, who also showed off the new Mirage look, after he got his hands on some other recolors for different legends. Focusing on Crypto, though, the St Patrick’s Day themed skin is a rework of his legendary ‘The Hired Gun’ skin which pretty much resembles movie character John Wick’s black suit. As you can probably guess, with the leaked skin, the Surveillance Expert legend ditched the all-black suit in favor of an all-green look – though his apparent new cosmetic lacks the repeated use of Shamrocks like the earlier leaked Mirage Twitch Prime skin. Timestamp of 2:15 for mobile viewers In his video, iLootGames also showcased a recolor for Wraith and Lifeline that should be available in the future – though they didn’t exactly tie into the St Patrick’s Day theme like Crypto and Mirage. With the skins still yet to be released by Respawn, the developers could still re-tweak the new cosmetics, though that seems unlikely as they’re already in the game files.Whether or not there will be any bigger celebrations for St Patrick’s Day – including possible event and other content – remains to be seen as well. Though, there is a Town Takeover for Bloodhound coming in the future.

  • Apex Legends Crypto skin concept perfectly fits his computer engineer backstory – Dexerto

Apex Legends Crypto skin concept perfectly fits his computer engineer backstory Respawn EntertainmentAn Apex Legends player has designed an incredible skin concept for Crypto based on his backstory as a computer engineer. The outfit appears to be modeled off what he’s wearing in the ‘Stories of the Outlands – Family Forever’ teaser video. Respawn Entertainment has put in a lot of effort with each of the character’s backstories in Apex Legends. Their animated ‘Tales of the Outlands’ series provides fans with short stories about their favorite Legends and inserts them into the game’s lore. The majority of these short films follow each of the Legends before they entered the Apex Games. Therefore, they often show us a past version of the character that we would no longer recognize. In the case of Crypto, he was just a normal computer engineer before his foster sister, Mila Alexander, was kidnapped by Syndicate. As you can imagine, back then, Crypto or Tae Joon Park wasn’t the extravagantly dressed hacker we see in our Apex matches today. His style leaned more towards your standard IT work outfit that you’d see any computer engineer wearing. However, as one Apex player has proven, that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make a great skin. Crypto computer engineer skin concept A thread posted to the Apex Legends subreddit showcasing FrozenFroh’s computer engineer skin concept for Crypto has garnered over 8500 upvotes. By the looks of it, the design of the skin was inspired by Cypto’s ‘Tales of the Outlands – Family Forever’ short film. In the video, Crypto is wearing a white shirt, brown jacket, blue tie and, yellow-tinted glasses. The fan skin concept captures this outfit brilliantly and is modeled perfectly to fit into the game. There’s no doubt this would be a fan-favorite skin for Crypto mains as it perfectly fits into his lore. Not every skin needs to be colorful and eye-catching; it’s the direct reference to Crypto’s backstory that would make this cosmetic so impressive. Respawn should certainly consider implementing more lore-related skins into the game. For example, a human Revenant skin that references the Season 4 official cinematic would be absolutely incredible. Fingers crossed Respawn opt to add some backstory-themed skins to the game, as it’s clearly a line of cosmetics fans are interested in seeing.
