  • Fortnite’s Wailing Woods begins to rot ahead of Season 8 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Wailing Woods begins to rot ahead of Season 8 Fortnite’s Season 8 is just around the corner, and eagle-eyed fans have noticed that one of the game’s most historic locations has started to show signs of change just days before Season 7 ends. Season 7 of Fortnite has been the longest to date, with Epic Games choosing to add two weeks onto the end due to the Christmas period, when the developers took time off. With Season 8 set to start on Thursday, February 28, Fortnite fans are keen to try and figure out what could be coming to the hugely popular title, and some observant fans have noticed a decay starting to affect Wailing Woods, a location that has been a feature of the Fortnite map since Season 1. On Sunday, February 24, Fortnite players began to notice that the leaves found in the west corner of Wailing Woods had started to turn brown, instead of the luscious green foliage we had come to expect at the forest. The ground at Wailing Woods has also started to change color, with the bright green grass starting to fade. These changes at Wailing Woods match leaks found in the game last week, which suggest that the decay will continue at Wailing Woods, with the whole area set to turn a sickly brown in the near future. Fortnite Creative Director Donald Mustard has also changed his location on Twitter to Wailing Woods, with many believing that he is hinting at the upcoming changes to the area. What will happen to Wailing Woods during Season 8 is currently unknown, but many Fortnite fans will be sad to see the end of the forest if Epic Games decide to remove it entirely heading into the new season.

  • Was Fortnite’s v7.40 patch the best of Season 7? | The Fortnite Podcast Ep 66 – Dexerto

Was Fortnite’s v7.40 patch the best of Season 7? | The Fortnite Podcast Ep 66 Fortnite’s latest 7.40 patch did a lot of damage control that helped the battle royale stabilize the rougher portions of the game, resulting in one of the best quality of life improvements the game’s seen thus far. Fortnite Podcast hosts 2LoudTX, MonsterDFace and guest host Alex ‘GoldenBoy’ Mendez broke down how the 7.40 patch might be the best iteration of the game in Season 7. It seems like Epic Games had taken many of the previous complaints from the community into consideration since improvements made to the X-4 Stormwing feel much better to head-to-head with, the translucent update to the Bush consumable made it a viable as well as fun item to use, and the Hand Cannon damage reduction to walls made it better to fight against. The hosts believe that a lot of features in the 7.40 patch simply made Fortnite feel more balanced. The patch undid a lot of the aches and pains that plagued the battle royale for much of the season. Read more: Surprise team dominates $10,000 Code Red Fortnite Duos tournament – recap, final standings, and info – As for Fortnite’s infamous plane, the changes made the vehicle less menacing and a lot of the pros felt that it was a giant step in the right direction for the battle royale. “There is a lot of players that don’t like the Stormwing,” GoldenBoy said. “But a lot of the players I talked to universally agreed that the changes to the Stormwing were overall positive and necessary changes.” While MonsterDFace maintained that people will always find an imperfection within Fortnite to nitpick, the 7.40 update silenced a lot of the frustrations that were growing within the game’s community. “There’s always going to be that next thing down the list that you want to start drilling home… There’s always going to be something that someone feels is not perfect with the game but the quality of life with this last patch tremendously increased with the recent balances,” MonsterDface said. Fortnite has undergone numerous criticisms throughout the entirety of Season 7, and the hosts think that the 7.40 patch got a lot of things right in terms of balancing the popular battle royale. Listen to 2LoudTX and MonsterDFace’s in-depth discussion in the latest edition of the podcast and then tweet us @Dexerto to share your thoughts on the current state of Fortnite.

  • Fortnite’s Vending Machines could be making a return in the near future – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Vending Machines could be making a return in the near future Epic GamesVending Machines could be coming back to Fortnite, after players have randomly spotted them throughout the battle royale map since the latest update. Vending Machines were pulled from Fortnite in October due to the introduction of Season 2’s weapon upgrading system. Rather than trading materials at random machines, players were able to directly upgrade their weapons at new benches scattered around the map. It appears as though the old system could be making a return as Vending Machines have been randomly appearing throughout games since the latest update. While Vending Machines have been vaulted for just under six months, the popular feature could be making an imminent return. A number of players have randomly stumbled upon the old-familiar machines while playing on the latest patch. “I got excited thinking Vending Machines were back,” Reddit user ‘sheilabelila’ said after sharing a clip in which they stumbled upon the old feature. Playing as part of a duo on their PlayStation 4, they were traveling through Frenzy Farm where they were left stunned by the appearance of a Common Vending Machine that included a Minigun. The machine was humming its familiar sound and the player could even interact with it from the looks of things. Holding the Square button may have ‘claimed’ them a Minigun if they were able to react fast enough. Just seconds after stumbling upon the machine however, it disappeared from the map entirely in the blink of an eye. “That happens when the item is placed in the game files, but hidden. Basically you discovered a leak for a possible future placement,” XxWiReDxX’ explained. While there’s no guarantee that Vending Machines will, in fact, be making a return in the near future, their existence in the game’s code, and brief reappearance around the map, could be a surefire indication of their comeback. The latest update has leaked more than just a potential Vending Machines return — a wide array of cosmetics appear to be on their way soon too.

After being first announced back in December, the Driftboard will finally be making its debut in Fortnite on February 19, and you can see how it will work in-game thanks to some gameplay footage that was leaked a few days ago. Details for this LTM have also been leaked and it’s in-game description reads: “Land near a Red Supply Drop, grab a Driftboard and some weapons, meet up with your team and race to eliminate the enemies.” There will likely be some new cosmetic items added to game files for future release, so expect data miners to look for and leak those shortly after the update goes live. There will also likely be further map changes made once the v7.30 update goes live as the end of the Ice Storm event could see the snow that is currently covering the map to melt away, except for the snow biome on the southwest corner. The ice in Polar Peak could also melt further to finally reveal the identity and purpose of the mysterious prisoner hiding underneath the massive castle. Players can also expect new cosmetic items to be added to game files and saved for future release, all of which will likely be discovered and leaked by data miners shortly after the update goes live. • Fortnite’s v7.30 update vaulted the Bolt-action Sniper and players are feeling pretty emotional – Dexerto

Fortnite’s v7.30 update vaulted the Bolt-action Sniper and players are feeling pretty emotional The most surprising aspect of Fortnite Battle Royale’s v7.30 update on January 29 was the fact that Bolt-action Sniper Rifle was included as one of the vaulted weapons in the patch notes. As you can probably guess, players and personalities didn’t take long to react. The v7.20 Content Update that was released just a week ago, on January 22, vaulted the Quad Launcher, Port-A-Fortress and Grappler, so fans of Fortnite weren’t expecting to see many, if any, items added to that list in the v7.30 patch. However, Epic Games made the surprising decision to vault a total of FOUR weapons – the Burst Rifle, Heavy Shotgun, SMG and Bolt-action Sniper Rifle. While any of these could be classed as surprising, the removal of the Bolt-action appears to have hit the community the hardest. “R.I.P BOLT ACTION SNIPER,” Tweeted FaZe Clan’s Cizzorz shortly after the patch notes went live. “WHAAAAAAAAAAAT.” Fellow FaZe star, Jaomock, had an almost identical reaction: “BOLT ACTION IS VAULTED. WUT!? :(“ Of course, there is an argument that the recently introduced Suppressed Sniper Rifle is basically a Bolt-action Sniper with a silencer attached to the end, but this only appears to have softened the blow for a select few. “Vaults Bolt, doesn’t touch Deagle,” said 100 Thieves pro player Parallax. “Lmfao alright that’s stupid.” “I WOKE UP TO THE BOLT SNIPER BEING VAULTED!?” exclaimed FaZe Avery. “WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?” Vaults Bolt, doesn’t touch Deagle. Lmfao alright that’s stupid. — 100T Parallax (@100T_Parallax) January 29, 2019 I WOKE UP TO THE BOLT SNIPER BEING VAULTED!? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS — FaZe Avery (@Avxry) January 29, 2019 Reddit user DarkShoot3r took a relatively measured approach to the changes, noting that there are still options for players wanting to use versions the weapons that were removed: “Well Silent [Suppressed] Sniper is basically a Bolt and Heavy was the worst shotgun currently (at least for me). And the SMG just got a silencer again.” “They just done up and vaulted the bolty? One of the most well beloved guns ever? I’ll be damned,” said another Reddit user, Mobster-503, before noting one silver lining: “But hey the Suppressed Smg is back and that’s all I wanted.” Twitch streamer r0xy summed up the feelings of many, posting a rather emotional message to her dearly departed Sniper: “Today I lost someone very dear to me. Think I’ll be taking the day off to pay my respects. Rest In Peace Bolty, you will be missed 9/26/17-1/29/19.” Today I lost someone very dear to me. Many players are reporting that the game feels smoother than it has in months, especially in North America where ping can often be an issue for players on opposite sides of the country. • Fortnite’s v7.30 Content Update release date and time announced – Dexerto

Fortnite’s v7.30 Content Update release date and time announced *UPDATE* – You can find the full v7.30 Content Update patch notes here when they go live on February 5. The release date and time for Fortnite‘s v7.30 Content Update have been announced, and Epic Games have also given a sneak peek as to what players can expect. There will be no downtime. pic.twitter.com/paYFEniI68 — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 4, 2019 As per usual, the patch notes will not be made available to the public until the update goes live, which means players have to wait until then to see everything that’s in the v7.30 Content Update. However, Epic have already confirmed that there will be two new items added via this update – Bottle Rockets and Foraged Campfires. There is very little information provided about how the new rockets will actually work, but they look to be the next addition to the long list of explosive items in Fortnite. The exact way that these Bottle Rockets will work remains unclear, although it’s pretty obvious that they are yet another explosive item. As for the Foraged Campfires, this new addition will allow players to interact with the burnt out campfires found at various locations throughout the map. At the expense of 10 wood, players will be able to light these campfires and use them as a healing mechanism, very much like how the Cozy Campfire items work. As a result of this new feature, Epic will be increasing the amount of these campfires on the map so that players will always be near enough one to quickly go over and start healing. The Foraged Campfires will give players a lot more opportunities to heal mid-game. There has been nothing else confirmed about the v7.30 Content Update, although players should expect further changes made to the map, which has been the theme of Season 7 so far. There may also be cosmetic items added to game files for future release, most of which will likely be discovered and leaked by data miners shortly after the update goes live. Make sure to keep an eye on our Twitter @Dexerto, as well as the Dexerto Fortnite page, as we will bring you the full patch notes, first look at the two new items, any leaked content, and more.

After the Major overhaul that came with the V5.0 patch at the start of Season 5, the Content Update on July 17 was never expected to be a big one. However, the introduction of the brand new Submachine Gun is still an exciting one. According to the description, the SMG will be “ideal for those close range battles”. Available in Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants, the Submachine Gun does 19-21 base damage and uses light ammunition with a 30 round capacity. The Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle has also received what could turn out to be a fairly significant buff as base damage has been increased to 75/78 from 63/66. • Fortnite’s V5.30 Content Update Introduces Shockwave Grenade, Solid Gold 50 vs 50 LTM – Patch Notes – Dexerto

Fortnite’s V5.30 Content Update Introduces Shockwave Grenade, Solid Gold 50 vs 50 LTM – Patch Notes Epic GamesFortnite’s V5.30 content update has officially gone live, introducing the highly anticipated new Shockwave Grenade and the Solid Gold 50 vs 50 Limited Time Mode (LTM). The Shockwave Grenade works much like an Impulse Grenade, but without the fall damage. While it was originally leaked as a “Legendary” or “Epic” version of the Impulse Grenade, the difference in its abilities make it clear that the Shockwave Grenade is intended to be an entirely separate item. Players hit by the grenade will destroy objects in their path as they are thrown through the air. The description reads: “Send yourself, allies, or enemies flying like a human cannonball! Grants immunity to fall damage.” Also included in the August 28 update is the Solid Gold 50 vs 50 mode. As you can probably guess from the name, it features all of the favorite aspects of 50 vs 50, but only Gold, or Legendary, variants of weapons can be used. • A first-person mode in Fortnite may ruin the skins market for Epic – Dexerto

A first-person mode in Fortnite may ruin the skins market for Epic Epic GamesA first-person mode in Fortnite might be an exciting prospect, but can it affect the skins market for Epic? Fortnite skins are currently one of the most popular in-game cosmetics in all of gaming. With each season, Epic introduces new skins and features to its player base. One of the newest additions Epic announced at State of Unreal 2024 was to implement a first-person camera tool in Fortnite’s UEFN mode this year. This tool will be added strictly to UEFN for creators to make new maps and modes. On the other hand, this is in contrast to leaks that were surfacing around social media in 2022 regarding a first-person mode that would be arriving in Battle Royale. That was the speculation put forth by known leakers HYPEX and iFireMonkey, who are data miners in the Fortnite community that have proven correct in the past, such as about LEGO Fortnite and more. However, could a first-person mode affect the popularity of Fortnite skins significantly? Ever since they were introduced in 2017, skins have served as a digital status symbol for Fortnite’s most dedicated players. Despite being purely cosmetic, these skins have grown in their appeal, reactivity, and customization in the game with successive seasons. Still, if a change is on the horizon, and Epic does decide to expand and add a first-person feature to Battle Royale, it could change the skins market forever. Fortnite’s lucrative skins market Epic Games has released a total of 1,788 skins in Fortnite since its 2017 launch. According to Sacra, Epic continued to gross over $4 Billion each year, solely in Fortnite microtransactions since 2018. The game only grows in terms of player count each year, according to FortniteGG, and part of that is new players being enticed by pop culture favorites they already love. However, the implementation of a rumored first-person mode in Fortnite could significantly shift the tide. Contradicting that though, in an email to us, Epic has said: The first-person camera feature is a tool for creators utilizing UEFN, and is not a planned feature for Battle Royale. However, for the sake of speculation, let’s say these UEFN modes prove exceedingly popular, and Epic does decide to get in on the first-person fun. After all, there is some precedent. Players first experienced the first-person camera in Fortnite through The Device event in Chapter 2. In the Chapter 4 Season 1 trailer, players also saw a glimpse of first-person through the Doom Guy emote, which raised their hopes for such a possibility. However, if the first-person camera ever did hit Fortnite’s Battle Royale, it could change the skins market and how Epic sells its in-game cosmetics. Why a first-person mode in Fortnite might affect the skins market One of the main arguments favoring first-person in Battle Royale is it’s a completely fresh way to play the game. A first-person perspective could provide a more intense, competitive, and immersive experience, opening all sorts of avenues from moment to moment. However, this increased immersion may come with a sacrifice. Players will lose the ability to look upon their favorite Disney or DC character at all times, nor the other cosmetic items like back blings while playing. Hands, pickaxes, and weapons would be the only visible cosmetics. This constraint may lessen the incentive for players to invest in skins, as they will no longer have a view of them at all times. As such, a first-person camera in Battle Royale, if it ever became the dominant way to play, could have consequences for the in-game shop, potentially lowering demand for the current cosmetic products. This could provide a concern for Epic Games, which relies largely on microtransactions from cosmetic purchases to fund Fortnite’s continued development and upkeep. Whether it would have any impact on the game’s microtransactions, or whether Epic implements the first-person camera widely across its core Battle Royale modes is yet to be seen. However, witnessing how it would affect skins and their construction, would certainly be interesting to see play out.

  • Fortnite’s Trio vs. Squads world record on console finally broken – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Trio vs. Squads world record on console finally broken Epic GamesFortnite world records are made to be broken, and the crown for most eliminations by a trio in a squad match has finally changed hands for the first time since June 2019. Fortnite players are constantly trying to find eliminations in the popular battle royale title, as they attempt to win matches and secure Victory Royales. Sometimes, in the pursuit of success, players can even etch their name into the history books. That’s what happened for a trio of Belgian players — Paragon-Hunter, Dhont_Eli, and NoiDestroy — on PS4, who dominated their opponents in a squad match to take their place at the top of the tree for eliminations against teams of four. The squad got off to a hot start at the very beginning in the match by landing in the Gotham City rift zone and quickly laying waste to all the opponents there. By the time they moved out of Gotham, they had already racked up 29 eliminations. The team then moved into Loot Lake, which ended up being their last rotation and the game concluded with the team claiming 50 eliminations total. In doing so, this squad was able to beat the previous Trios vs. Squads world record by one, making them the new record holders. Records are made to be broken, but it seems like this one will be a tough one to top – but people thought the same with the previous one as well. Getting 50 eliminations in a match is nothing to scoff at, especially when you consider it’s half the lobby in a game. The real eye-opener in this is the squad was able to do it with just three people, which means they went against full squads while being down a person. Dhont_Eli finished with 13 eliminations, NoiDestroy with 21, and Paragon-Hunter had 16, helping them eke just past the record. We’re always looking for Fortnite world records, so if you think you’ve set one, feel free to reach out with your proof and we’ll update our information accordingly.

  • Fortnite’s unreleased gifting system has been changed – Dexerto

Fortnite’s unreleased gifting system has been changed The gifting system in Fortnite Battle Royale, which players have been waiting for since June 2018, looks to be in its final stages of development, with new gift wrapping options discovered. First confirmed by an Epic Games’ developer on Reddit back in June, there hasn’t been any official word since on when the gifting system can be expected for full release. However, as always data miners continue to dig through the game files to uncover various unreleased features and upcoming changes, and have been keeping track of the progress of gifting. We got a first look at the system in full in October, showing the menu screen, the ability to gift to multiple friends and even gift to yourself (i.e. a parent gifting to their child’s account). It was believed after this leak that the release of the gifting system was imminent, but Epic seems to be keen to perfect it before implementing it. Now new game files have been discovered, showing that when gifts are made players will be able to choose four different gift wrap options; Purple, Red, Yellow or Blue, as well as adding personal message. Two highly anticipated skins were deleted from FortniteIt was previously expected to be released at the start of season 6, but with that season now nearing a close, perhaps season 7 will be the point Epic finally gives the gift of gifting to players.

  • Fortnite’s Travis Scott Astro Jack skin has a detail you may have missed – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Travis Scott Astro Jack skin has a detail you may have missed Epic GamesFortnite’s new Travis Scott cosmetics include an Astro Jack skin that has players speculating over one key detail that you may not have noticed. Travis Scott is gearing up for a series of virtual performances in the world of Fortnite starting April 23. Accompanying the in-game concerts are a slew of new challenges, map changes, and cosmetics. One cosmetic in particular, the Astro Jack skin, has players buzzing over a significant detail that can be easily overlooked if you don’t look closely. TOOK IT STRAIGHT FROM OUTSIDE STRAIGHT TO THE COUCH CACTUS JACK FOR FORTNITE https://t.co/igthHpDLM2 pic.twitter.com/237EIy6FwJ — TRAVIS SCOTT (@trvisXX) April 20, 2020 What does the Cactus Jack skin tease? The Astro Jack skin pays homage to both the Astroworld album and the Cactus Jack brand. “Out of this world” the flavor text reads for the astronaut-themed skin, yet which world might it be referring to? While the visor features the Cactus Jack logo, the helmet’s reflection appears to show a familiar landscape. Fortnite’s original map from the first 10 seasons, codenamed ‘Athena,’ appears in the visor, as though the astronaut character is straight out of that world. There’s no telling if this is an intended teaser of what’s to come, but Fortnite fans has already begun to put pieces together for much grander storylines. Could the skin be hinting at Fortnite’s future? It would be quite the stretch to claim this subtle cosmetic tease is outright hinting at the return of the original Fortnite map. Though there could still be plenty worth reading into. After all, it might serve as a unique throwback to Chapter 1. One intriguing theory alludes to both Fortnite’s old map, and the current map, all taking place “on the same planet,” according to Redditor ‘NomNomNomNation.’ With the black hole event that led to the dawn of the new map, Fortnite was shot through a black hole. It’s entirely plausible that the start of Chapter 2 led to the same planet, just in an “alternate reality.” Could this Cactus Jack skin be from the original reality? Might it be teasing an event that leads us back to the old dimension? These are all questions we’ll just have to wait and see play out. With concerts kicking off on April 23, perhaps the string of performances will be capped off by a world-altering event. Or the subtle throwback could be nothing more than a neat visual easter egg. In the meantime, here are five things we do know for absolutely certain about the upcoming Travis Scott event.

  • Fortnite’s tournament mode has been leaked – Rewards, gamemodes, schedule and more – Dexerto

Fortnite’s tournament mode has been leaked – Rewards, gamemodes, schedule and more Fortnite’s tournament mode was accidentally leaked by Epic Games recently, and now data miners have discovered almost everything to do with the new mode – including a weekly Fortnite Friday competition. A video on Epic Games official Fortnite channel showed a new tab called ‘tournaments’, which immediately sparked speculation as to what Epic had in store. It looks like a fully fledged tournament system will be implemented for all players, available to all players to participate in. These tournaments will be available in Solom, Duo and Squads, although the description for Solo is currently missing from the data mine. Duos: Grab a friend and take on the world – until you are the last two left. Three days in a row of tough Duo. Squads: Join your friends every Friday and kick off your weekend with some exciting Squad action. Can your team rise to the top? The full details of each tournament has also been leaked, with a different format for each mode, Solo Duos and Squads – with the latter running every Friday. Solo Rewards As for rewards, the leak says that you will earn “shiny pins” – but it is unknown what value these will hold, or if they are purely cosmetic. “Info: “Tournament”,”title_line_1″:”Alpha”,”details_description”:”Score up to 6 points every match by eliminating multiple opponents and surviving against the competition!” Score at least 20 total points in a session to earn a shiny pin!” There is no indication of when Epic Games will officially add tournament mode, but it looks like it will be before the 27th of October, when the Solos tournament begins.

  • Fortnite’s Train needs major changes for players to “bring it back to life” – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Train needs major changes for players to “bring it back to life” Epic GamesFortnite’s moving Train needs some major changes as players are suggesting Epic additions to bring it back to life. Train was one of the most surprising additions to Fortnite in Chapter 5 Season 1 that has stayed with the Season 2 Myths and Mortals update. The vehicle with a locked chest moves across the Battle Royale island providing players a free ride between POIs and free loot. However, since the moving Train in Fortnite only serves these two purposes to the player, they’re calling the vehicle useless in Season 2 and are calling Epic to add more exciting features to it. In the FortniteBR subreddit, players have shared suggestions like, “A mod bench + launch pad would be so good.” Another user wrote, “A single mobile reboot would be insane” while suggesting a reboot option on the Train that would cause chaos in late games. A third one said, “The main problem is it spends most of the match in the storm or is heading there soon. It needs multiple tracks and automatically switches to a route mostly within circles.” A fourth added, ” Epic definitely needs to evolve Train and bring it back to life for us. Train is such a cool concept and yet so much potential is wasted.” While the subreddit thread was pouring in from wild suggestions like “a turret on top”, several players suggested random Rift Encounters on the Train throughout the match which would keep things moving for players and would make gameplay faster. However, an insightful user suggested, “Adding more wagons that would allow you to go inside. Make it more interesting visually, and change it every season for the season’s theme.” While the Train currently on the Fortnite island still contains the Society symbols, players are calling for a crucial change that they believe is being ignored by Epic.

  • Fortnite’s “sus” new Flowberry Fizz item has players worked up – Dexerto

Fortnite’s “sus” new Flowberry Fizz item has players worked up Epic GamesFortnite players are worked up since devs added a brand new Flowberry Fizz item and are calling it “sus”. Here’s what they said about it. A moving train and the immensely popular weapon mods system are just two of the many new features added to the Battle Royale island in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1. The new, drastically altered gameplay features shorter matches with more intense action, increasing the pressure on players to win the highly sought-after Victory Royale. To ensure a high-kill match, the game has several meta weapons that are thought to be among the finest. However, players typically depend on consumables and their healing rate to determine the pace of their gameplay to survive. Epic has introduced a new consumable item called Flowberry Fizz, which has quickly become a popular subject among players since the current season started with a restricted supply of healing goods. Some are calling out devs “sus” as they’re worked up with the arrival of the consumable. Fortnite players call devs “freaky” for adding new Flowberry Fizz item The Flowberry Fizz is the latest consumable item added to Fortnite that heals up to 100 shields and gives an anti-gravity effect to the user. Players can equip the item and also heal their nearby teammates with the splash that is caused once the bottle is shaken rigorously before usage. Since the item has a similar effect to a Flowberry, players are calling out devs on the size of the bottle as well as a “sus” and “freaky” animation that has fans worked up. One such player said, “This looks like… something else…” Another chimed in, “The content that’s gonna be made from this is gonna be crazy.” A third user added, “Why did they make something that squirts like that?!” Even Jake Lucky got in on the conversation and posted the video with their thoughts saying, “Nah Fortnite absolutely knew what they were doing”. Another fan replied, “Can’t wait to shower the homies like this … wait what …” To conclude the thread, a fan commented, “Can you edge it?” While there’s a considerable amount of conversation around the new item, if you’re looking to find one during a match, we’ve got you covered with a guide right here at Dexerto.

  • Fortnite’s Tac and Heavy Shotguns are in need of a buff, and this would be the perfect way to make them more usable – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Tac and Heavy Shotguns are in need of a buff, and this would be the perfect way to make them more usable One of the most important weapon classes in Fortnite Battle Royale is the shotgun, but certain types are currently outperforming others. While the Pump has generally always been the preferred shotgun of choice among most players, the other two options – Tactical and Heavy – are having trouble catching up lately. This has proved especially true after the addition of the Epic and Legendary variants, further making the Pump a lot more desirable than the other two. With this in mind, Reddit user ‘nylon_rag‘ has proposed some changes be made to the Tac and Heavy to balance out the class and make them a lot more viable when compared to the Pump. The user believes that the Tac is the worst of the three, but that “it shouldn’t be vaulted because it should have a spot in the shotgun meta.” The proposal suggests that the hit-speed be increased from 1.5 to 1.6, the bullet spread be slight reduced, and the damage profile be increased from 67/70/74 to 69/71/75. As for the Heavy shotgun, the user thinks that it’s currently as good as the Uncommon (green) variant of the Pump, despite the fact that the Heavy comes in Epic and Legendary rarities only. In order to make the two shotguns a lot more comparable in usability, the user proposes that the reload speed be decreased from 5.9/5.6 to 5.6/5.3 seconds, while the damage profile increased from 74/77 to 78/80. While that specific idea may not be the most effective, there is no doubting that the proposal overall would definitely make all of the shotguns a lot more balanced and reduce the RNG factor when it comes to the weapon class.

  • Fortnite’s snow map has already disappeared after only one day – Dexerto

Fortnite’s snow map has already disappeared after only one day Fortnite players have been left disappointed after awaking on Boxing Day to discover that the all-snow covered map has already reverted to its previous form. Expanding the snow biome, which was new for Season 7, Epic Games turned the whole map white and icy on December 25, but clearly it wasn’t intended to stay for long. Unfortunately, it means that fans who were busy with Christmas day festivities may have missed out on a once in a lifetime chance to play Fortnite in complete snow. Many players will have missed the opportunity entirely, but of course there are plenty of videos and clips showing off how a completely snowed in map looks. More: Fortnite player creates amazing Cliffside Cabins location in Creative mode that would be perfect if featured at The Block – In terms of gameplay, the bright white wasn’t ideal for many players. Not only was the screen bright to look at, the lack of custom crosshairs also meant you could lose your aim in the snow, as the default crosshair blends in. The change came as a surprise to most players, such as TSM’s Daequan, who was caught off guard when he first dropped in. On December 26 however, the map has returned to its pre-Christmas day state, with the majority of the map green, the desert biome in the south east and the snow biome in the south west. The good news is that it proves Epic can make adjustments to the map quickly and revert them just as quickly, meaning more frequent map changes could be coming in the future. Perhaps we could see a Spring, Summer and Fall theme too?

  • Fortnite’s Season 3 map has apparently been ‘leaked’ – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Season 3 map has apparently been ‘leaked’ Epic GamesFortnite Battle Royale players are expecting a lot to come out of the upcoming Device event, with many believing the map will be submerged in water as sea levels rise, and a new ‘leaked’ image has surfaced showing just that. Some players, however, aren’t convinced that it’s real at all. Previous leaks have suggested that the map could be completely flooded for the next major patch, and even a leaked first-look at the Season 3 icon on the PlayStation Store did seem to point towards drastic changes to the island. That being that, the latest apparent leak certainly doesn’t look convincing, to say the very least. Members of the Fortnite community have been waiting around for this new season longer than they ever had to in Chapter 1, as Chapter 2’s refreshes have been few and far between – with delay after delay being announced by Epic Games. Now though, with rumors of the map flood spreading like wildfire, a fresh image has surfaced – with a user claiming to have revealed the damage done by the ocean. The image itself has been shared right across the Fortnite subreddit, with it even featuring on the YouTube channel of GhostNinja as well. Some players have their doubts, though, and you can see why. The poster said: “Guys, this is NOT the s3 map. It’s spreading that this is it on Twitter but no, it’s not. The water level is all screwed up. 100% Fake.” Another user chimed in, too, saying: “I mean it looks like someone painted blue all over the map lol.” On one side, it shows mountain tops which are – obviously – the tallest part players can access in-game. Then, oddly, on the right side of the image, we can see Sweaty Sands, which surely would be one of the first POIs to be destroyed by rising sea levels as it’s a beach location. On that basis alone, the image can probably be debunked. https://twitter.com/HYPEX/status/1266129426397495296 This isn’t the first time that somebody has tried to envisage what the island may look like following the Device event, of course, as Fortnite data miner HYPEX also created a concept (above). At least this one shows a more realistic image of how things could be, but it also not confirmed. As soon as we get an official word from Epic, which is likely to be after the Season 3 start date on June 17, we’ll be the first to let you know.

  • Fortnite’s snow is starting to melt, could be transition to Season 8 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s snow is starting to melt, could be transition to Season 8 Epic Games via Hollow YTThe times are ever changing in Fortnite, as it seems that the Ice King’s snowy grasp on the island is now fading, making way for the next chapter in the game’s season. Epic Games partially covered its battle royal in a blanket of snow on December 6 to bring in the holiday cheer of Season 7, and was briefly completely snow-laden on Christmas Day 2018. Then the Ice King’s influence descended on the map on January 19, bringing forth a winter frost and the Ice Legion to the fray, but now it seems the game’s ending its frozen phase. Parts of the map have already shown signs of life, as the snow is receding at a near constant rate. So far the melting is occurring at the Northwest most point of the island near Wailing Woods. The change of scenery could also mean a change of narrative in the game’s unpredictable story. Read more: Fortnite’s v7.30 update vaulted the Bolt-action Sniper and players are feeling pretty emotional – After so many controversial changes and inclusions that the game saw since December 2018, going back to familiar grounds could be a blessing for many players. The dreaded presence of the game’s Fog and Ice Legion PvE component has already taken its leave, relieving many players from the elements of the game they felt unnecessary. Season 7 departed from the norm as it lasted 12 weeks as opposed to the typical 10 week life cycle. But if the snow melting is a harbinger of the anticipated Season 8 then it might be high time for a change of scenery too.

  • Fortnite’s removal of tips from loading screens triggers a meme avalanche – Dexerto

Fortnite’s removal of tips from loading screens triggers a meme avalanche FortniteFortnite has seemingly removed the tips text from loading screens in the latest updates but the meme is not dead. Fortnite has always had tips and tricks for players when entering certain game modes. This is also where the occasional warning about account scams is located. However, with the most recent update to Chapter 5 Season 2 these text-fueled memes have come to an end. There was no mention of these texts being removed from the title screens in the patch notes. But an observant Redditor posted the discovery for others to see. The comments quickly filled with digs at the original text tips. People asked how they would ever be able to play Fortnite now that these seemingly obvious tips were no longer visible. “How am I gonna win a game now?” “How will I know that an open door means someone else has been here before?” “Remember, only YOU can prevent V-Buck scams!” While most of the comments were filled with jokes, there were several comments on how the changes affected loading screens as a whole. “Wow, brilliant, now I can enjoy seeing great loading screens. I thought they gave us a toggle on/off switch instead,” said one commenter. The lack of text on the screen does allow players to fully see what mode or map they are loading into. Something that was demonstrated in the original Reddit post. Whether Fortnite will re-add these tips and tricks back to loading screens in the future is unknown. There is also the potential that Fortnite will allow players to manually turn them back on for those who miss them.

  • Fortnite’s Polar Peak is melting and revealing Snowfall skin prisoner inside – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Polar Peak is melting and revealing Snowfall skin prisoner inside The main focal point of the Fortnite map in Season 7 has been the addition of ‘Polar Peak’, which has harvested a number of secrets – and it looks like it is beginning to melt away. Sitting atop the peak is a castle, supposedly the home of the Ice King – who just covered the entire map in snow – as well as the controversial ‘Infinity Blade’ (now removed after backlash about balance). Leakers also discovered that large dragon eggs were hibernating under the castle, which were eventually revealed, and now the dungeons are beginning to be exposed as the ice gradually melts. Leakers also found that there is someone/something trapped in dungeon – most likely the mysterious Snowfall skin, which is unlocked by finding secret hidden banners each week. If the Snowfall skin is indeed trapped in the dungeon as data miners believe, then it looks like the melting ice will soon reveal it. YouTuber FortTroy has recorded the level of ice inside the castle over January 18 – 22, and the rate at which the it is melting is alarming. Data miner @s1l0x has given the best glimpse at what is imprisoned inside, which certainly appears to be a character skin of some kind. “That mesh references a prisoner skin which I am 99% sure will be the snowfall skin. The prisoner had a T1 File. Tier 1?” So, players will want to keep an eye on the progress of the melting ice, but of course we will have more updates when it finally unveils who or what is trapped inside.

  • Fortnite’s rare Golden Mushrooms have been removed already – Dexerto

Fortnite’s rare Golden Mushrooms have been removed already Epic Games[jwplayer t8tVUPFe] One of the rarest items Epic Games have ever added to Fortnite Battle Royale, the Golden Mushroom, has already been removed. These consumables had an astonishing low chance of spawning in the game anyway, with data miners reporting a probability of around 0.001%, meaning not a lot of the community might have even seen one when they were active. For those who don’t know a lot about them, they gave players 100 shield when found, and could be stacked in sets of three. We even put together a guide on how to find them, after their release on July 2, although that won’t be much use for the foreseeable future. Epic Games reportedly rolled out a hotfix on July 13, just 11 days after they were made active, to disable them from spawning in-game. This was noted by leaked HYPEX, who regularly sieves through the data files of Fortnite and monitors changes. While the news is still fresh, there’s been no official statement from game developers on why they have been hooked from the loot pool, although the data miner who reported their departure has an idea. Apparently, some players were having difficulty picking them up after finally finding them, which isn’t ideal. The Golden Mushroom has been disabled with a hotfix, maybe they are fixing the issue when you can’t pick it up. — HYPEX (@HYPEX) July 13, 2020 That being said, the problem – and even the removal – of the Golden Mushroom hasn’t yet been added to the official Fortnite Trello board. Here, the dev team usually keep players updated with community issues and keep them informed if things are tweaked in terms of gameplay. With Epic currently silent on the matter, it appears that they’re not sitting on their hands where any potential problem is concerned and have instead acted fast. Hopefully, the rare shield item will return in the near future.

  • Fortnite’s Playground mode receives major overhaul in the latest update – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Playground mode receives major overhaul in the latest update The latest Fortnite update has introduced the most significant overhaul of the popular Playground mode since it was introduced back in June. The V6.01 patch, which was released on October 3, also added an all-new freeze trap called the ‘Chiller’ along with various bug fixes and quality of life improvements. As far as Playground mode is concerned, the patch notes simply tell us that a number of new options have been added, bringing it closer to the fully customizable mode that fans are hoping to eventually see. “More options have been added for you to play around with,” stated Epic Games. “[You can] tweak starting health, gravity and more.” Later in the notes, the developers reveal that even the time of day can be changed. We will update this post with more information and screenshots as soon as we can get into a game. UPDATE 1: Below you can see all of Playground modes new customization options:

  • Fortnite’s overpowered Double Pump meta is back but with unexpected weapon – Dexerto

Fortnite’s overpowered Double Pump meta is back but with unexpected weapon Epic GamesThe Double Pump meta has been popular since Fortnite’s OG days, but it’s now back in Chapter 5 Season 3 thanks to this weapon and strategy. Veteran Fortnite players are no strangers when it comes to the Double Pump meta. There was a point in Fortnite where players would equip two Pump Shotguns at the same time and go on to obliterate anyone trying to get up close. The way this worked is that you would shoot with a Pump Shotgun once before quickly switching to the other and finishing off the kill. With how much damage it dealt — combined with the fire rate when switching — the meta quickly became popular. Earlier in Chapter 5, Season 3, players were faced with an unexpected meta revolving around vehicles and other new items. However, thanks to this particular strat shared by a player, the Double Pump meta is looking to slowly make a comeback — but with a weapon you likely wouldn’t expect. The Boom Bolt has three rarities, starting from Rare and continuing with the Legendary one, which requires you to defeat the Ringmaster Scarr boss. Here’s how this weapon can pull off the Double Pump meta. Aside from getting the legendary rarity of Boom Bolt from the Ringmaster Scarr boss, you’ll need to grab their medallion as well, which will give you infinite ammo and increased damage. Once you’ve secured this weapon, loot another Boom Bolt. Regardless of its rarity, as long as you already have the medallion equipped, all weapons in your inventory will have infinite ammo and a nice damage buff. Now, with two Boom Bolt crossbows with you, combined with the infinite ammo medallion, you can essentially spam this weapon to your enemies the same way you would with a Double Pump Shotgun. Except, with Boom Bolt’s projectile being able to stick to players and structures, you’ll be able to see these unfortunate players explode before they can do anything. It’s even better if you’re playing with a squad or friends so that your teammates can distract the enemy while you melt them from afar. With how this works, it’s even better if the enemies are clumped together. Overall, if you’re looking to secure that sweet Victory Royale, this is definitely worth trying. Though beware, you’re likely not the only one heading to the Ringmaster Scarr, so make sure to secure some good loot first.

  • Fortnite’s “Pay to lose” Giant Chicken skin has players divided – Dexerto

Fortnite’s “Pay to lose” Giant Chicken skin has players divided Epic GamesFortnite’s Giant Chicken skin is causing a scene, with players claiming it’s pay to lose, along with other levels of varying confusion. Chapter 5 Season 1 of Fortnite‘s in-game cosmetics might be some of the most ambitious undertakings the game has seen. Since the season’s arrival, players have gotten their hands on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, another wave of DBZ skins, not to mention the Battle Pass has Solid Snake and Peter Griffin. Around the arrival of the long-awaited patch 28.10, reports circulated that Epic Games would continue the Family Guy collaborations with more skins coming. Those reports were proven correct, with Peter Griffin’s nemesis, Ernie the Giant Chicken, joining the playable roster. However, Ernie’s arrival has been interesting, to say the least. Players are claiming it’s a “pay to lose” skin, while others are just plain confused by his implementation in-game. Fortnite players divided on Giant Chicken skin The most obvious point of contention with the Giant Chicken skin is the character’s model, which has caused a twofold dilemma. Firstly, yes, it’s “lore accurate,” as Ernie is quite menacing. However, it’s proven to be quite an issue with players sharing that it’s possible to clip the character through walls. That said, hitboxes in Fortnite have been an iffy subject as the game has gone on. Many think the size of a character model doesn’t matter, while others do, and the comments in the clip above certainly reflect that division. When Peter Griffin arrived in Fortnite, his appearance “broke the internet,” as fans were in awe of his handsome appearance. This raises the second issue fans are having — why Epic Games couldn’t give Peter Griffin his standard appearance in-game. Again, Peter’s in-game appearance is “lore accurate” to the show, yet with Ernie’s model nearly exact to show counterpart, this left fans in a state of confusion. Numerous threads and debates have discussed this discrepancy, with fans sitting on the conspiracy that Epic Games will sell a “Fat Peter” skin later on. We’ll just have to see how the story unfolds, but with both characters now in-game, expect to see an influx of recreations of their iconic standoffs.

  • Fortnite’s original map is playable again thanks to new Creative 2.0 tools – Dexerto

Fortnite’s original map is playable again thanks to new Creative 2.0 tools Epic GamesFortnite’s original map is playable once again thanks to the works of modders and the recently released Unreal Engine for Epic’s popular battle royale. When Fortnite showed the world footage of the newly implemented Unreal Engine for Fortnite with Creative 2.0, it was almost unbelievable such visuals were being made in the iconic battle royale game. Fans and Fortnite creators alike were thus extremely hyped for the newly released engine. Perhaps the biggest benefit of the new toolset, however, is the fact players themselves can turn into full-fledged map designers. Already, we’ve seen a range of stunning creations but topping the list is an authentic recreation of Fortnite’s very first map. Fortnite’s battleground has gone through many changes over the years. As with every single Season, POIs are added and removed, new features are implemented, and the game constantly keeps things fresh. However, from adding new structures for different collabs, to just straight-up terraforming the surface, the map we see today is almost unrecognizable from the original. So upon the announcement of the Unreal Engine map builder for Fortnite, two different modding groups who are focused on recreating the original Fortnite experience announced their original map projects releasing soon. It seems both Reboot Royale and Atlas OG got early access to the editor. Although, the latter is actually a partnered company with Epic Games, and Reboot Royale is a community-led project. The most impressive part of both projects is they essentially had to recreate the map from scratch, as there are no publicly available files for the original map, so the only reference they had was videos and photos from the first season. The Atlas OG version is currently playable already, butcapped at 30-40 players at a time in each map with plans to expand to 100. And the Reboot Royale version will be available to play on March 25. However, be warned, due to the sheer popularity of this creation, the Atlas OG version was hit with a plethora of problems upon its release. From server issues, frame rate drops, memory issues, it’s not quite flawless just yet. Overall, the release of Creator 2.0 and the Unreal Engine Editor has fans excited for the upcoming creations from the community. And with extra monetary incentives for creators with the new Creator Economy, we will be seeing more creative maps come in the future.

  • Fortnite’s next event could shake up the entire game – Dexerto

Fortnite’s next event could shake up the entire game Epic GamesFortnite players are used to the game’s events completely altering the face of the island or adding a massive global effect to every corner of the map, but the game’s next event could send a wave across the landscape. Epic Games likes to work on several seasons’ worth of stories ahead of time, but one fan found some clues to a game-changing event that could fall onto the Fortnite island in the near future. In a since-deleted post, Reddit user StefaN9510 found some discrepancies between a previous loading screen featuring the Prisoner and its corresponding location in game, which could lend itself to a leaked game file pointing to a major earthquake being on the horizon. In Snowfall’s week 10 loading screen, the escaped Prisoner is around a fire but the large mountain found in game is missing. The large mountain missing could be the doing of the Prisoner, which the theory points to an earthquake or volcanic event causing the collapse of the mountain. StefaN even theorizes the Prisoner’s motives as wanting to rid the mountain that covers the sun as it goes down, to elongate the sunlight and melt the ice quicker to give a glimpse of what’s under the giant iceberg. A previously leaked game file called “Season8 Leadup,Event Earthquake” is the biggest supportive piece of evidence to the theory. As well as the leaked image of the Prisoner skin, that shows flames and lava veins surrounding the character as the game progresses. The theory sounds like something Epic Games would do to throw their players for another story-tied loop, but more will be revealed as we get closer to the next season’s events.

  • Fortnite’s old game modes should be revived – Dexerto

Fortnite’s old game modes should be revived Epic GamesAfter years of abandonment, Fortnite players are urging Epic Games to bring back support for fan-favorite game modes. Chapter 5 has been major for the Fortnite universe with the addition of LEGO Fortnite, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing. With that have come multiple new game modes, leaving older versions in the dust. Fortnite just revealed three LEGO-inspired creative islands during its UEFN event, which came after the launch of Midas’ Floor is Lava mode with Season 2. Now, players are urging Epic to consider returning to older modes that fans once loved and breathe new life into them. An image of the Fortnite in-game Inception watch party was posted to Reddit to spark the discussion. Inception was one of the three Christopher Nolan movies that were shown in different regions back in 2020 during the height of COVID-19. “Back when they actually pushed for an interactive experience, and they just… never touched it again. Wish they did more films.” said one commenter. The game mode, known as Party Royale was Epic’s first sure of opening the universe to more interactive and immersive experiences. Which was done with movies that could be watched in public lobbies with others for free. However, the mode has been dormant since 2020, when it first gained popularity. Alongside Save the World, this is just another feature that once showed promise until Epic gave up on it. “Party Royale is in second place for the most neglected game mode. When was the last time anything new happened there?” said the top commenter beneath the post. Epic has not made any additions to Save the World or Party Royale in recent years, which has led players to call on support for the older game modes. However, with the wave of new game modes in Chapter 5, it is hard to say if the support will ever come.

  • Fortnite’s next big crossover rumored to be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – Dexerto

Fortnite’s next big crossover rumored to be Mighty Morphin Power Rangers HasbroFortnite’s next big crossover is rumored to be with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as Epic Games’ takes fans back to the original series. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is undoubtedly a household name at this point, having dug itself deep into the zeitgeist ever since its first airing in 1993, with the franchise even crossing over with the likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at one point. And when it comes to massive crossovers between pop culture icons, nobody does it better than Epic Games with Fortnite. From their Family Guy crossover that confused Seth Macfarlane himself, to their recent collab with Lego that spawned an entirely new game in just 2023 alone. Despite such a jam-packed year of crossovers and collaborations, Epic isn’t stopping there as it has been rumored that their next big collaboration may be with Power Rangers. Clip starts at 3:19:28 According to Nick “Shpeshal_Nick” Baker of XboxEra, Epic is working on a Power Ranger crossover and it may be coming soon. “What I’ve heard about who’s coming to Fortnite, and it may be soon… remember Epic is very funny on timelines, I’ve heard that we might be seeing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers coming to Fortnite,” Nick revealed on the podcast. As for what we can expect, Nick was reticent on details as the only information he received was that they were potentially coming. So we won’t know exactly how the crossover skin or event-wise will play out. But it’s likely fans can expect plenty of skins, one for each in the main lineup, and even some potential villains from the original series. However, we do not currently know when it will come out as Nick also warns that there is no concrete timeline or release date for the rumored crossover with Power Rangers. Of course, it’s best to take the rumor with a grain of salt until confirmed by official sources.

  • Fortnite’s newest season might be its best yet, but there’s one big problem – Dexerto

Fortnite’s newest season might be its best yet, but there’s one big problem Epic Games/MarvelFortnite has released another Marvel season and it’s generated a lot of hype among players. Still, there’s one big problem – the current lore. Fortnite’s newest season continues the game’s tradition of amazing collabs. This time Absolute Doom comes to the looped island, along with some iconic Marvel heroes, and kit that will give you their special powers and weapons. However, despite the popularity of the theme, and fans riding the Marvel hype train after the stellar success of Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s a concerning problem that threatens to undermine its success − Fortnite’s stale lore. One of the reasons behind Fortnite’s popularity lies in the adaptability of the game’s story and the characters tied to it. The game is built on the concept of an ever-evolving world that changes with every update and keeps players hooked. However, right after a Mad Max-inspired season, comes a Marvel one, which may risk alienating players who value a cohesive narrative. Oh Zero Point, what have you done? Fortnite’s lore has always been one of the most interesting parts of the game. The storyline has progressed through sensational live events and epic map changes, that have left players guessing about what’s next. Despite the chaos, the game’s early seasons retained a sense of evolution, with each event building on the previous one. The Zero Point saga, the introduction of Kevin The Cube, and even the appearance of The Seven all had a feeling of continuity, resulting in a plot that, while occasionally odd, seemed like it was headed someplace. However, as Fortnite has expanded, so has the complexity of its lore, often at the expense of player involvement. The story has grown more and more difficult to follow, with abrupt and confusing switches in focus and tone. One season, we’re rescuing Peely from an evil faction, the next, we’re battling Greek gods, and then we’re forced into a Mad Max-style wasteland. While variation is appealing, the lack of a cohesive, linear plotline has made it difficult for players to get emotionally involved in the game’s story. I still remember the season when all we had to do was save the thing that was holding the island together − Zero Point, so we could prevent the looped island from being obliterated. However, since then we’ve faced Galactus, Kymeras, The Cube Queen, and even the Imagined Order; the whole thing’s become rather confusing. Dedicated Fortnite players who had been there since the beginning, believed Donald Mustard was carefully leading us to an epic finale. Unfortunately since, our beloved loremaster left Epic, Zero Point seems to have fallen into dark times. As a result, the Story Quests in both Chapters 4 and 5 made no sense. Even worse since the player base was used to completing challenges that culminated in a spectacular conclusion, they began to view the current story as nothing more than an XP grind. This is where the lore lost its significance. With great power, comes great responsibility The transition between the seasons has also been quite abrupt. Earlier we were given in-game events that eased into the downtime of a new seasonal update. Now it’s just flashy trailers, gameplay, and million-dollar collabs with seemingly no concern for the users. After watching Season 4’s trailer I thought to myself, okay, so Doctor Doom has returned to the island − swell. Jonesy is Captain America − right, why not, I can see it. Peely is now a Wolverine variant − wait what the heck? It’s getting really confusing for me, an OG Fortnite player, about Epic’s motives with lore and where is it gonna go in the new season. Regardless, I believe there is great potential with the new Fortnite season that simply needs to be carefully and intentionally harnessed. If Fortnite manages to properly establish its story, Chapter 5 Season 4 has the potential to be remembered as one of the game’s most remarkable accomplishments. However, should the lore become stale as the season marches on, there is a chance that it will be regarded as a missed opportunity and Epic can ‘Take the L’ back home.

  • Fortnite’s newest LTM is one players have been asking for a long time – Dexerto

Fortnite’s newest LTM is one players have been asking for a long time Epic GamesFortnite offers players and their friends many ways to jump into a game for endless amusement, but the battle royale’s teaming options have left some group of companions without a playlist of their own until now. Epic Games routinely adds Limited Time Modes (LTMs) to their popular shooter to give players a new way of mixing up the fun, but their latest offering gives odd number of friends a better way to group up. Fortnite added Trios as an LTM mode, giving players with a distinct number of friends the most integrated way of playing the battle royale. Epic Games recently added a quick patch to their game that was meant to resolve a lot of little problem in the game, but they casually slipped this long-awaited game mode along with the update. Fortnite’s permanent playlists of Solo, Duo or Squads only give room for a single player, two players or 4 players, respectively. But when groups of three occur they’re usually left to play in Squads with a random player rounding out their group. The new mode is sure to be a blessing for many players who don’t have a full part of four, or are waiting for their fourth person to get online. The mode is already being praised by players just discovering the LTM, and are clamoring for it to be a part of the permanent playlists. It’s unknown for how long Trios will be offered in the routinely revolving LTM playlist, so triumvirates should queue up while they can.

  • Fortnite’s New Year’s celebration event appears to be in-game already – Dexerto

Fortnite’s New Year’s celebration event appears to be in-game already It comes as no surprise that Epic Games has plans in the works for an end of year celebration in Fortnite, however the specific plans for the upcoming New Year’s event seem to have leaked ahead of time. Dedicated Fortnite players are often treated to limited-time events and special crossovers with marquee entertainment franchises. From the most recent Star Wars crossover spectacle which saw an exclusive clip from The Rise of Skywalkers premiered in-game, to an annual Christmas-themed takeover, there’s never any shortage of unique additions for fans to enjoy. While New Year’s celebrations are nothing new to the competitive Battle Royale title, eagle-eyed Fortnite players have spotted a familiar sight that could hint at the upcoming spectacle as we roll over into 2020. In the past, Epic Games launched a global countdown throughout the game which ticked away until the beginning of a new year. As soon as the timer ran out, fireworks were launched into the sky and an enormous disco ball hovered over the entire map. Forcing each and every player to dance and celebrate the new year no matter where they were on the map. Eventually, one massive firework exploded into ‘2019’ and the brief period of festivities came to an end as regular competition resumed. This sequence of events repeated every hour on the hour until the conclusion of the event. While no one knows exactly what Epic Games has in store for New Year’s celebrations this time around, it appears as though the disco ball has been spotted in the world of Fortnite once again. Indicating that players could be in for a very similar treat to that of 12 months ago. Initially discovered by Reddit user ‘ NoVa_Iwarrior,’ the giant disco ball can actually be spotted when looking up to the skies in the replay mode. With the object currently in position and evidently accessible within the files of Fortnite, it seems as though Epic has plans to reuse the effect once again. No official confirmation has been provided by the developers, so take the new information with a grain of salt. The effects of the disco ball could very well be different as we head towards 2020, or perhaps the automatic dancing will only ensue throughout creative lobbies this time around for instance. Typically, repeating events are spiced up in new ways. Whether that be through new items or new areas of the map, Fortnite has a tendency to keep dedicated players on their toes. The 2019 Winterfest event for example, altered the functions of the limited-time Snowman item, changing the rarity as a direct result. With the Christmas-themed Winterfest event set to run through until January 6, and a Star Wars crossover still in full-effect, it’s likely that the New Year’s festivities will be brief once again, as to avoid too many major events overlapping all at once. Perhaps players will find some tremendous ways to celebrate the New Year’s spectacle as others have done with the limited-time Star Wars event. Recently, players have been dropping their loot in order to honor tradition and duel with lightsabers to determine a winner.

  • Fortnite’s New Years eve in-game event begins with fireworks and discoball – Video – Dexerto

Fortnite’s New Years eve in-game event begins with fireworks and discoball – Video Fortnite’s New Year’s celebration event has officially kicked off, as 2019 officially begins to roll in around the world. Plans to celebrate the arrival of the new year were found in Fortnite’s game files on Tuesday, December 18, with fans excited to ring in 2019 in-game. New Year’s Eve celebrations have already begun on Christmas Island and in Kiribati, signalling the start of the event in Fortnite. Epic Games co-founder Mark Rein confirmed that the event kicked off at the same time as these countries entered 2019, and it seems likely that the in-game event will take place every hour as more nations celebrate the start of the new year. Discoball New York Worlds Colide! pic.twitter.com/HIUISy4dYx— FortTory – Fortnite News (@FortTory) December 18, 2018 First spotted by FaZe Clan pro player Thiefs, the event officially kicked off on Monday, December 31 at 2:00 AM PDT (5:00AM EDT, 10:00AM GMT, 9:00PM AEDT), with fans surprised to see it begin so early in the day. Thiefs was playing regular duos when he heard an explosion in the sky above him. The FaZe Clan star quickly built a ramp to see what was happening, when a massive ball, similar to the one used to ring in the new year in New York, appeared in the sky and began to descend down to the ground. A NEW YEARS EVENT ALREADY? HAPPY EARLY NEW YEARS I GUESS LMAOOO pic.twitter.com/Jwmu1W1klP — FaZe Thiefs (@Thiefs) December 31, 2018 A ten second counter could be seen in the sky, while fireworks went off in the sky around the ball. Thiefs was unable to do anything during this sequence, as the ball forced his character to dance, likely to stop people killing each other while the event was taking place. While Epic Games have included an in-game event to help celebrate the new year, they will also be hosting a special New Year’s Eve event featuring Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, which will be broadcast on Twitch live from Times Square in New York City. You can find all the information you need to make sure you don’t miss any of the stream using our handy Ninja New Year’s Eve event hub.

  • Fortnite’s new weapons are broken and there’s only one way to fix them – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new weapons are broken and there’s only one way to fix them Epic GamesFortnite’s new weaponry has left the community at a crossroads, with some demanding a change in the loot pool to fix it. Here is our take on how Epic can fix the broken weapons meta. Battle royale video games have become a dominant force in the gaming industry, with intense, last-man-standing action that tests players’ survival abilities and strategic thinking. Today, games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Warzone, and PUBG dominate the genre. In 2017, I played my first Battle Royale game, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), which introduced me to a new type of gameplay that was different from my previous experience with classic FPS shooters like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Call of Duty. A 100-player lobby and the opportunity to be the last one remaining sounded appealing to me. One of the primary factors that makes these games so appealing is the wide variety of weapons available to players, each with its own set of strengths, weaknesses, and distinguishing features. While playing such games, I noted that you had to scavenge weapons off the ground or unlock chests to alter them with attachments throughout the fight. However, this method felt time-consuming, and it diverted my focus from defeating my enemies to modding these weapons. Then I discovered Epic Games’ Fortnite. A breath of fresh air, this Battle Royale title simplified guns in video games for me by offering a considerably smaller weapon assortment. This smart decision allowed players to focus on creating complicated structures using resources during combat without complicating matters with overly complex weapon load-outs. Unfortunately, over time, the number of weapons in Fortnite has increased, and now the game’s guns are as complicated and flawed as those in other Battle Royale games. Don’t panic, though. We know the only way to improve them. The good ol’ guns of Fortnite When Fortnite originally launched, it offered its players only six types of weapons: assault rifles, shotguns, submachine guns, pistols, sniper rifles, and explosives. That’s what makes Fortnite’s learning curve so simple, allowing it to appeal to a much younger demographic of players. To make gaming easier, Fortnite weapons were initially devoid of customizable attachments, unlike previous Battle Royale titles, and the game educated its user base on weapon classification and use cases for each scenario. For example, you’d use a standard Assault Rifle for medium-range pray and spray, a Shotgun for close combat and dealing heavy damage to your opponent, an SMG for spraying bullets at an enemy from close range, a Sniper with an in-built scope to deal one-shot damage to an enemy, or an explosive weapon like grenades or rocket launchers to deal blast damage to structures or enemies from afar. Furthermore, a weapon’s damage and efficacy increased in proportion to its rarity, which in Fortnite spans from Common to Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Exotic. A weapon’s rarity determines how much damage it can deliver to an opponent. This simpler strategy enabled players to concentrate on construction and refining game skills to survive to the finish and organize their map rotations during the Battle Royale round. However, it wasn’t long before Fortnite started to ape competitors like Apex Legends and Warzone by introducing customizable weaponry. Shoot to Thrill – or Craft maybe Fortnite made its first move towards weapon customization when it introduced Crafting in Chapter 2, allowing players to create a variety of bows from materials found on the island. While upgrading weaponry was previously possible in the game via Upgrade Benches, crafting gave gamers optimism that they might be able to customize their weapons in the future of Fortnite Battle Royale. The crafting gimmick continued for a few more seasons, allowing players to improve weapons depending on the things they obtained, customize them with enchantment powers, and even boost their firing rate. However, gamers wanted bespoke attachments in the game, and weapon mods were introduced in Chapter 5 Season 1. It allowed players to customize their weapons during a match by adding custom attachments to their base weapon. Weapon mods allow players to customize their favorite guns to fit their playstyle using a mod bench. While their introduction was initially popular, the downsides became apparent later in the season. These mod benches require players to pay gold and allow them to customize their weapons to fit their playstyle. While this introduction had certain advantages, the disadvantages became apparent later in the season. Players were fed up with their opponents, eliminating them with a Sniper Rifle at close range or a shotgun with an attached sight at medium range. This threw the game’s weapon balance into disarray and, quite simply, shattered the Fortnite weapon meta. As players reach the completion of Chapter 5 Season 1, they’ve been increasingly critical of the present loot pool, with some even suggesting that the Weapon Mods system be completely removed in the following season. Take me back to the classics While the whole Fortnite community is outraged by the game’s poor weapon balance, gamers like myself wish we could return to simpler times when all you had to do was classify weapons in your loot pool based on their use case in a fight and only worry about upgrading them for heavy damage. On the contrary, the game needs these significant changes to grow its gameplay; nevertheless, if the penalty of doing so is the loss of the joy and simplicity of old Fortnite weaponry, I’d rather play a creative map that allows them. Furthermore, you felt powerful in the early seasons of Fortnite, when you had a gold Pump Shotgun in your arsenal. The identical weapon is now a Mythic Frenzy Auto Shotgun, which can only be obtained by defeating a boss on the island. For someone who plays Fortnite practically every day, I’ve never been more tired by the weapon loot pool than I am this season. I’d rather if Epic Games made weekly vaults/unvaults of weapons from the past and released quests particularly designed to employ such weapons during gameplay. Classic Fortnite weapons were significantly more balanced, easier to use and manage – whether you played with a controller or a mouse and keyboard – and featured a gratifying shooting sound that you could hear from a distance when shot. To solve the faulty weapons meta that Epic is now operating in Fortnite, the return of the classics is required, and gamers can only hope to roll back the clock once again when a new season begins in the coming days.

  • Fortnite’s new Shockwave Hammer has players excited to smash things in Chapter 4 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Shockwave Hammer has players excited to smash things in Chapter 4 Epic GamesThe Shockwave Hammer is one of many new arrivals in Fortnite Chapter 4 and players are already smashing their way into the highlight reels. Fortnite Chapter 4 is looming and it hasn’t taken long for fans to find their new favorite addition in the next era of the game. While a new map, a perk system, and a fresh Battle Pass help to make things feel more exciting, a new item is another way to help shake things up. The Shockwave Hammer is everything that its name suggests it should be. Whether using it to propel yourself across the map or to send an enemy flying off into the distance, this spunky melee tool has quickly won over the fan base thanks to its flashy playmaking ability. Fortnite fans are head-over-heels for new Shockwave Hammer in Chapter 4 Many posts are showing off just how much versatility is contained in the Shockwave Hammer. In one impressive clip, a player gets bopped out of a fight thanks to an enemy wielding one of these hammers, only to equip their own broomstick and soar right back into the mix. Another Fortnite player claimed it’s their new favorite item after catapulting themselves across the map to catch up to a team that had tried to get away from them. It took a few shots to clean up the second enemy, but the Hammer allowed them to catch the squad completely by surprise, so it didn’t matter much in the end. These are just a few of the posts that showcase player love the new and flashy weapon. While the verdict is still out on Fortnite Chapter 4, it’s clear that Epic Games has a big win on its hands when it comes to making the game exciting with the Shockwave Hammer.

  • Fortnite’s new Ultra Doom Mythic is too hard to get – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Ultra Doom Mythic is too hard to get Epic GamesYou can now become Doom’s Chosen if you get the rare chance of seeing Doom Island in your Fortnite match, but many players believe it’s too difficult to encounter. The 31.10 update for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 introduced a bevy of new features, such as Shuri’s Black Panther Claws. But the biggest addition is the Ultra Doom mythic. This is an incredibly powerful ability that transforms you into Doctor Doom himself, allowing you to wreak havoc on all enemies in a match. While many fans are ecstatic about this powerful mythic, others are disappointed by its spawn rate. Each game has a 5% chance for Doom’s Island to appear, which makes this mythic incredibly rare. The Fortnite fanbase online is divided on the matter, as this post on X talks about how cool the Doom powers are. Once you accept the power, you gain four unique abilities which can give you a huge advantage during the game. Despite how excited many fans are to utilize the Ultra Doom mythic, players remain skeptical about it and don’t think the 5% spawn chance is fair. “I get why they don’t want this in every game,” one reply said, “but make it a bit more common so more casual players like myself would still get a chance to play with it.” In an entirely different post, a player spoke about how the low spawn rate feels a little disappointing since they’d barely get to see it. The Ultra Doom mythic will last one month until October 5, so this smaller time frame may also make it difficult for fans to come across the island. “They better buff the spawn rate in the near future,” one response said with a crying emoji. Another comment repeated the same request. It’s unclear if Epic Games will boost the rate at which the Ultra Doom mythic shows up in games throughout September, but for now, players can complete the Doom quests for cosmetic rewards.

  • Fortnite’s new Rubius Icon Series set is fantastic but there’s one big catch – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Rubius Icon Series set is fantastic but there’s one big catch epic gamesFortnite’s Rubius Icon Series skin has been getting a lot of praise since its reveal, but players aren’t happy about one thing. After teasing a Fortnite collab in August, Rubius finally revealed his Icon Series set, showcasing various cosmetics included in it. And already, it’s been showered with tons of praise from players mainly due to its back bling that stands out. The Rubius Icon Series bundle comes with a cat back bling. Not just any random cat, though. Rather, it’s based on his IRL cat, Wilson — a detail that his fans pointed out and are excited for. What makes this back bling even more special, however, is its reactivity. As seen in a clip, the cat woke up from its sleep the moment the emote started. Many players have admitted that they’ll buy the bundle solely for the back bling as soon as it comes out. One user said, “I don’t know who the guy is, but that back bling is gonna get bought day one. I love cat-themed backings.” This isn’t the only reason the Icon Series skin blew up. According to Spanish Fortnite leaker JorgeMost, Rubius is set to donate the money made from his skin in the first 24 hours to animal shelters, leading the community to praise him and adore the set even more. While the majority of responses regarding this Icon Series set have been positive, players aren’t happy with how the Rubius Twitch Drops work. For the uninitiated, there was a chance to earn a free emote from the drop. The problem is that this campaign appeared to be region-locked and there was a lot of confusion regarding this in the beginning. Those outside of Spain claimed they had to use a VPN to see the progress bar and even then it was buggy. Many players have also complained that they still didn’t get the emote regardless, leading them to slam this as the “worst distribution” and overall “a mess.” It’s a complicated situation for sure, but at least there’s a way to get the skin for free when it arrives in Fortnite.

  • Fortnite’s new PlayStation-exclusive skin divides players – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new PlayStation-exclusive skin divides players FortniteThe Fortnite community is divided over Epic Games’ choice to continue releasing free PlayStation-exclusive skins. Despite Fortnite being a free-to-play title with crossplay across all devices, there’s always been a benefit to playing on PlayStation in the form of free skins. Over the years Fortnite has released multiple content-exclusive skins for Nintendo, Twitch Prime, Xbox, and other products. However, most of these exclusive skins have come from PlayStation Plus users over the years. With the release of Chapter 5 Season 2, Fortnite is back at it again with another PlayStation-exclusive skin, and fans have mixed feelings about it. Fortnite players take issue with PlayStation-exclusive skin A post on the Fortnite Reddit titled ‘I despise platform exclusives’ sparked the conversation. The skin in question is the ‘Blazin’ Wheels Pack’ that recently appeared on the Fortnite PlayStation store. The skin is “free” for PlayStation users who are subscripted to PlayStation Plus, which is the same for the other exclusives in the past. But some players think it’s time to leave them behind completely. “Could be worse, could be like CoD where the PlayStation plus exclusive skins were only visible to players on PlayStation, and even though the game has cross-progression the exclusive skin can’t be used on PC/XBOX,” said one user. Many users pointed out that since the skin can only be obtained through PlayStation Plus, those who obtain it have essentially paid for it. Something that many think is justifiable considering the exclusivity. “As a PlayStation user I for one enjoy their weird policy of forcing F2P games to offer PS+ benefits,” said another reply. “It’s such a weird policy but f*** it.” For Fortnite PlayStation users who are looking to obtain this skin, it can be found under the Fortnite shop. It is in the same place where players can find V-Bucks and other non-exclusive skin bundles.

  • Fortnite’s new Rift Beacon all but confirms return of Kevin the Cube – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Rift Beacon all but confirms return of Kevin the Cube Epic GamesRift Beacons have been a telltale sign for major map changes during the course of Fortnite Season 10 and yet another has appeared – leading many players to believe Kevin the Cube is coming back! There have been several beacons appear across the map so far and they haven’t all had predictable outcomes, either. A Rift Beacon brought back Dusty Depot at the beginning of the season, with another sparking the revival of Retail Row, but one malfunctioned at the Insider Soccer Pitch point of interest and exploded – leaving just a crater behind. So, let’s take a look at the latest to have popped up on the map. Rift Beacon appears at Fatal Fields A brand new Fortnite Rift Beacon has appeared at Fatal Fields, meaning that it’s very likely that we’ll see some changes there with the next patch or content update. Much has been talked about in terms of previous points of interest being spotted in the game’s files via data mines, with Anarchy Acres being one of them. If fans were hoping for more farms to be added to the game sometime in the near future, this new development might not be the most pleasant of surprises, as there’s a slim chance that the map’s final farm location could be nearing the exit. There’s a much more likely outcome, though. Kevin the Cube coming back? One of the most popular theories being shared among players is that this could spark the return of Kevin the Cube, something that’s been teased in Fortnite’s upcoming loading screens and parts of the island have been revealed in other leaks as well – as seen below. CUBE ISLAND INGAME LEAK! pic.twitter.com/2VqBVawSWG — FortTory – Fortnite Leaks & News (@FortTory) August 27, 2019 With the cube’s return looking increasingly likely the longer that Season 10 goes on, there’s a very good chance that Kevin’s island will be hanging over Fatal Fields sometime soon.

  • Fortnite’s new Pirate Cannon lets players become invincible – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Pirate Cannon lets players become invincible Fortnite Season 8 may have just launched on Thursday, February 28, but fans of the game are already finding ways to use the game’s new items to their advantage. The V8.00 update saw the introduction of a new pirate theme alongside a number of huge maps changes, including three new Points of Interest, Volcano, Sunny Steps and Lazy Lagoon. Also included in the update was the brand new Pirate Cannon weapon, that allows players to fire cannonballs at enemies and the structures they have built – and can even fire themselves at opponents if they choose. While the Pirate Cannons can be used as excellent offensive items, it appears that the item can also have some incredible defensive capabilities – as long as you know how to make the most of them. Popular YouTuber and Fortnite expert ImSpeedyGonzalez has discovered that players are invulnerable while sitting inside of the weapon waiting to be fired. Even though the characters head can be clearly visible when they are in the Pirate Cannon, any bullets only deal damage to the item itself, and players take no damage when it is destroyed. This information could be extremely valuable, especially if you find yourself under fire from opponents, and could give players some respite until they figure out their next move. It’s currently unknown if this is an intended result of sitting inside the Pirate Cannon, but it’s likely Epic Games will move to patch it in the near future if it is not.

  • Fortnite’s new Invincible collab game mode lets you play deathmatch with a twist – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Invincible collab game mode lets you play deathmatch with a twist Prime Video / Epic GamesLooking for a deathmatch with a twist? Here’s how the new Invincible game mode called Rise of the Sequids work in Fortnite and how you can play it. Fortnite players can now jump into an all-new Invincible game mode called Invincible Universe: Rise of the Sequids. Announced by Skybound Games on April 11, this Creative mode will take you to Mars and pit you against other players in a 10v10 deathmatch-like setting. One team will play as humans, while the other will be the Sequid team – essentially parasitic aliens from the show. Here’s the twist. If you get eliminated as a human, you’ll spawn at the Sequid base and join their team. And the same thing also applies when the roles are reversed! As a Sequid, you’ll also end up at the human base and be a part of their team when killed by a human player. The game will automatically end once a team successfully assimilates all the players in the lobby. It’s also worth knowing that players can track how many players are on each team throughout the match from a slider. Aside from Rise of the Sequids, there are also other Invincible-related maps you can check out in Fortnite. Here are their codes: Invincible Universe – Rise of the Sequids Island Code: 6860-5764-7093 – Invincible: Doc Seismic Attacks Island Code: 3557-7311-4157 – Invincible: GDA Combat Training Island Code: 0574-8268-1828 – To join a game, click the search icon in the Fortnite lobby, and enter the code above in the search bar. The Invincible collab skins in Fortnite have been around in the game since November last year. But things really took off when Fortnite’s Dragon’s Breath Sniper appeared in Invincible’s Season 2 finale. For those looking for more Invincible-related content in Fortnite, this is your call.

  • Fortnite’s New “Llama Bell” Emote Pays Homage to Legendary Comedy Sketch – Dexerto

Fortnite’s New “Llama Bell” Emote Pays Homage to Legendary Comedy Sketch The new “Llama Bell” emote for Fortnite Battle Royale is quite possibly the most Fortnite-ish addition to the game you’ll ever see. The emote, which went live on August 20, sums up the “not-so-serious” side of Fortnite that originally separated it from its competitors in the battle royale genre and made it appeal to just about every audience. The Llama Bell shouldn’t be as entertaining as it is but it immediately captured the imagination of players around the world and some even started to recognize it from something they had seen in the past. If you’re one of those people, you might know that “Llama Bell” is paying homage to Will Ferrell’s hilarious cowbell dancing in the famous Saturday Night Live “More Cowbell” sketch that aired way back in April of 2000! Distract your opponents with more Llama Bell. New Emote available now! pic.twitter.com/m7cKNVmjNp — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) August 20, 2018 If you didn’t get your hands on the catchy new emote on August 20, you’re out of luck for the time being as the 800 V-Buck item is no longer available in the item shop. However, if the initial response of the Fortnite community, including big personalities like Ninja and Tfue, is anything to go by, Llama Bell’s popularity will likely mean that it returns in the near future. It’s strange to think that simple things like emotes and the various other Fortnite cosmetics were so instrumental in the game’s meteoric rise in popularity but the fact that they have been cannot be denied. All you have to do is look at the revenue generated from the free-to-play title to know that the in-game sales of items (that don’t give any competitive advantage, by the way) are through the roof!

  • Fortnite’s new Drum Shotgun is ridiculous and everyone’s mad – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Drum Shotgun is ridiculous and everyone’s mad Epic Games have officially introduced the brand-new Drum Shotgun to second v9.30 Content Update, becoming the third different version of the shotgun to be available for use on the Fortnite island. Unlike the other shotguns in the game though, the Drum Shotgun is an automatic weapon, meaning players don’t need to continue to press fire when they use it, but instead can hold it down and let the Drum Shotgun do the work for you, and has quickly become unpopular with those who have been on its receiving end. The automatic nature of the weapon means it’s extremely easy to fire off a number of rounds in a short space of time, meaning there is very little punishment for missing your first shot. It also gives opponents very little chance to react as the second shot will always follow the first one extremely quickly. Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins was able to use this to his advantage in his first game on the new update, taking down an opponent with a barrage of bullets, leaving his opponent unable to fire back quickly enough as the Twitch star wiped him off the map. It’s not just the game’s biggest stars that are using the weapon to their advantage, with a redditor uploading a clip that showed them drilling an opponent with the weapon, taking them down in seconds with little chance to fire back. Holy… from r/FortNiteBR Others have complained that it’s just the speed at which the weapon fires shots that is making it difficult to fight back against, but that the weapon is causing a flashing effect on-screen that makes it impossible to see. Twitter user utd_raj complained: “When they spam you, it causes a blinding effect making it next to impossible to shoot back.” Tried Drum Shotgun? When they spam you, it causes a blinding effect, making it next to impossible to shoot back. — Rajdeep Chakraborty (@utd_raj) July 2, 2019 Others complained that it was “the most ridiculous gun ever, “ and that “noobs” keep spraying with it. bro the drum shotgun is the most ridiculous gun they ever put like that thing is illegal noobs keep spraying — Æthēr (@Ominous_ae) July 2, 2019 Plenty made their opinions clear by simply labeling the weapon as overpowered, with one player even begging developers Epic Games to vault the weapon just hours after it was introduced to the game originally. The Drum Shotgun certainly looks like it’s powerful, and could replace the Tactical Shotgun altogether, with its automatic firing system much easier to use than the semi-automatic found in the Tac. It seems unlikely that Epic Games will immediately vault the weapon, so fans of the game who don’t like the Drum Shotgun will have to hope that the developers choose to make some balancing changes in the v9.40 update.

  • Will Fortnite’s new iKONIK skin be available to all Samsung users? – Dexerto

Will Fortnite’s new iKONIK skin be available to all Samsung users? Samsung have already granted popular Twitch streamer Fortnite, but are they going to make it available for all users of their devices? The new skin and Scenario emote are inspired by Korean pop band iKon and is supposed to be accessible exclusively to owners of the the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ or S10e Android devices – which are set to be released on March 8. However, it seems that the technology giant have accidentally allowed all of their users to download the new bundle. Twitter user arkheops has speculated that Epic Games might have made a mistake during the release of the ‘exclusive’ bundle, after spotting it on the V-Bucks store. “The iKONIK skin briefly appeared in the V-Bucks store for Samsung users for a short time,” they tweeted. “It is now gone. Possibly an accident on Epic’s part.” The IKONIK skin briefly appeared in the vbucks store for Samsung users for a short time. It is now gone. Ninja has already been granted access to the iKONIK skin and Scenario skin, as mentioned earlier, producing some insane moments for his fans to enjoy while wearing the new cosmetics already. The streamer has already confirmed that he will be attending a promotional Samsung event on March 16 in New York, where he’ll be unveiling a new Fortnite map. Whether or not the iKON-inspired pack will be available to all Samsung users in the future remains to be seen, but the original announcement suggests that will not be the case.

  • Fortnite’s new Bottle Rockets look incredibly powerful in first footage – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Bottle Rockets look incredibly powerful in first footage Fortnite’s new V7.30 Content Update has officially gone live, giving fans a look at one of the newest additions to the game, Bottle Rockets. Bottle Rockets were officially announced via the game’s built-in news feed on Sunday, February 2, with the caption “Loud, bright and dangerous! Warning: Do not light indoors.” Now, the new weapon has officially launched in Fortnite, and players already getting a glimpse at how powerful this item could turn out to be. In a clip posted to Fortnite’s Twitter account, a group of players can be seen running into a Durr Burger location to take cover from an oncoming enemy onslaught. Instead of building or charging into the diner after them, the rushing team took a different approach, instead placing down the Bottle Rocket item. Once lit, fireworks are seen flying away towards the Durr Burger, dealing damage to the building and destroying most of it in less than 10 seconds. Incoming! Fortnite fans are already unhappy with the new item, with one fan calling them “Another nerf to building in Fortnite” while watching the items destroy parts of the castle inside Polar Peak in seconds. Players will only be able to place down two at any one time, but a full squad with a number of these items could quickly tear down an enemy building in a matter of seconds, much like the now vaulted Boombox. The V7.30 Content Update also included an update to the campfires found in the game, along with various improvements and changes. Make sure you get caught up on everything that is coming in the new update by reading the V7.30 Content Update patch notes.

  • Fortnite’s new Black Panther Claws are simply useless in the current meta – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Black Panther Claws are simply useless in the current meta DexertoDespite Shuri’s Black Panther Claws making you feel like the hero herself, the majority of Fortnite players have agreed that this mythic just doesn’t work in the current meta. This Battle Royale’s 31.10 update added the Shuri Black Panther Claws as a new weapon, joining other Marvel-themed mythics such as Captain America’s Shield and War Machine’s Arsenal. Now that players have had a week to see how Shuri’s Claws work in the Fortnite‘s meta, most fans agree that choosing to wield this weapon ends with inevitable death. This sentiment was shared in a meme on the Fortnite subreddit, which caused a discussion about how useless the claws are despite players feeling cool while using them. The main reason behind this mythic being fun to use but bad in the long run has to do with it being a melee weapon. With the Sovereign Shotgun added this season as a superb weapon choice alongside other close and medium-ranged guns, trying to slash enemies with the claws doesn’t work when they can gun you down with a few shots. Shotguns are deadly up close, and if you happen to come into contact with an enemy using one, you’ll most likely lose the fight. “[I]t’s just not a great time to add a new melee weapon,” one reply admitted. Another reason why it being a melee weapon hinders it is because of the popular War Machine Hover Jets. This is a crucial item to get to win in the endgame, and if you don’t have one, you’ll surely be beaten by untouchable players zooming around in the sky. You won’t be able to catch up or reach an enemy flying away if you’re relying on Shuri’s Claws, making them good early in the game but pointless afterward. “They are nice inside close quarters straight after dropping into a hot-zone. After that, pretty useless,” a comment explained. Despite the latest update introducing an impractical weapon, the Ultra Doom mythic has been shaking up matches. Even so, players are finding it way too hard to get.

  • Fortnite’s new AFK emote has a very obvious problem – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new AFK emote has a very obvious problem Epic GamesFortnite players have found a very obvious problem with the new AFK emote that has left them questioning Epic’s decisions. Here’s what it is. As a means of self-expression on the island, emotes have long been a favorite among Fortnite players. Plus, after eliminating their opponents, players love to use these emotes to taunt one another. Emotes are also useful for communicating with other players in the lobby or during a Battle Royale round. Holding a “Be Back Soon” signboard is a new AFK emote in the most recent Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. It lets your teammate know that you’re currently away from the keyboard. Though the emote is fun to use and available for 200 V-Bucks in the game’s Item Shop, players have discovered a glaring issue with it and are upset about it. Fortnite players point out major flaw with new AFK emote A Reddit user named Time-Refuse666 pointed out that the new AFK emote in Fortnite lasts only for about 20 seconds when used in the game’s lobby. This means the animation automatically stops once you use the emote after the said time. This has outraged many players as they prefer it to play for a longer period of time and have thus voiced their concerns about the same. One player said, “Strange considering we’ve had infinite emotes for a long time (like Infinite Dab).” Another chimed in, “That’s the easiest emote to NOT mess up and yet they found a way.” A third user commented, “That’s a bummer when you think about how conceptually that’s where it would be best used. But if people are in your lobby you are probably in VC anyway.” A fourth one replied, “It would be useful for streaming though.” A fifth user went on to say, “In-game, prepare for people to be setting traps by pretending to be AFK.” While this is not the first time players have called out an emote in Chapter 5, the Jubi slide received enough side looks from the community due to its similarity to an existing emote.

  • Fortnite’s new Avatar collab comes with game-breaking Airbending Mythic bug – Dexerto

Fortnite’s new Avatar collab comes with game-breaking Airbending Mythic bug Epic GamesFortnite’s Airbending Mythic may make traveling more convenient, but it can lead you to your death when used with this one item in the game. Fortnite has added the four elemental bending arts as Mythic items in the game along with the Avatar collab. However, not all of them can be used offensively, as you’d see in the show. The Airbending Mythic, for example, functions as a mobility item that lets you traverse the map quickly. While it’s been hailed as the “best mobility item ever,” using this item upon entering the rift can actually lead you to your death. Normally, entering the rift will allow you to be teleported into the air and land safely on the ground or even the Floating Island. However, as shown in one player’s clip, instead of deploying your glider after falling from the sky, their character ended up dying due to fall damage. While the chances are slim, if this bug ever happens to you, one way you can avoid dying is by landing on water. A Launch Pad also works, though this could be tough to find, depending on where you’re headed. This isn’t the first time that this Mythic item has been bugged. Another player has also shared that it’s possible to get stuck in an animation when using it, which could get you killed if you’re caught in a bad situation. Despite these bugs, the Airbending Mythic is still in the game. You can find it in Elemental Shrines and chests if you’re lucky. Just make sure to pick up some of the best weapons in the current chapter first before heading to a shrine to help you secure the loot.

  • Fortnite’s Mythic Goldfish is actually a deadly weapon – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Mythic Goldfish is actually a deadly weapon Fortnite Chapter 2 players might be casting their lines out with the hope of catching the ultra-rare Mythic Goldfish, but not all of them will know just what they’re getting themselves into. The Chapter 2, Season 1 achievements require players to fish out the rarest species of fish to be found on the new map and while this one might look a lot like a trophy, it has a much more interesting function than just being part of a challenge. As not many players have found the new Mythic Goldfish so far, there’s no doubt that it will come as a surprise when you’re struck by one out of nowhere. That’s right… It’s a throwable object! Nobody was made more aware of that fact than Reddit user BlakeBenbow, who posted their first encounter with the new item on October 20, with no idea that the fish was even in the game yet. After all, not everybody has seen it. The player was dancing in Fortnite next to a structure that they had built, before being smashed over the head with the trophy, eliminating him from the match immediately. With 59 health left, they were obviously vulnerable to attacks anyway, but with a huge amount of damage per hit on the new Mythic Goldfish, it made easy work of dispatching them back to the pre-game lobby. Those who are on the receiving end of a Goldfish throw will have 90 damage dealt, which is more than enough to take out opponents. In fact, it’s actually higher than Season 10’s Air Strikes (70) – which have since been sent to the vault. If you’re wondering how to catch one of these fish in Chapter 2, look no further than our helpful Mythic Goldfish fishing guide.

  • Fortnite’s Machine Pistol is rivalling Stinger as fan-favorite SMG in Chapter 3 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Machine Pistol is rivalling Stinger as fan-favorite SMG in Chapter 3 Epic GamesFortnite’s new Machine Pistol is already rivaling the Stinger as the community’s favorite SMG shortly after arriving in Chapter 3. The weapon, added in the v19.20 update, has been praised for its excellent time-to-kill. The Machine Pistol in this form has popped up in Fortnite’s past a couple of times through leaks, not to mention a few brief appearances in-game before being removed shortly after. However, Epic Games have officially added the SMG to the battle royale for players to properly try it out in Chapter 3. Now that players have it in their hands, they’re seeing first-hand how it can melt opponents at close range while holding its own in extended build battles. Even though the Stinger has been a fan-favorite SMG for a while, the Machine Pistol is starting to turn heads from Fortnite fans. Fortnite players are loving the new Machine Pistol It wasn’t long after the February 8 hotfix that Fortnite players started to notice the Machine Pistol’s insane prowess at eviscerating opponents in no time. People have been testing out the new SMG compared to the Stinger, which is painting a clear picture of which is better in certain instances. “So me and this guy went toe to toe with [both the Stinger and Machine Pistol],” one player said. “And he hit me down to 40 [with the Stinger] before I got a shot off and still killed him because of the [Machine Pistol’s] time to kill at close range.” Popular streamer SypherPK was trying out the Machine Pistol, but was astonished after an opponent flying by deleted him shortly after appearing on his screen. Though the moment left the streamer speechless, other Fortnite players shared a similar sentiment with how effective the gun was at lasering opponents: “Ok so the Machine Pistol melts.” Read more: How to get free V-Bucks in Fortnite – With its 15-19 damage per bullet accompanied by a wild 13.5 bullets per second fire rate, it quickly drew up comparisons to the Stinger. The Stinger has a slightly higher peak damage per bullet (20) with a slower fire rate (12), which lets the Machine Pistol dish out a bit more DPS than its counterpart. The two guns are pretty comparable, so if you can master the Machine Pistol it’ll do you wonders towards getting your next victory royale.

  • Fortnite’s Marvel Knockout – Everything you need to know about the new mode – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Marvel Knockout – Everything you need to know about the new mode Epic Games[jwplayer kQAVn1Ly] A new mode in Fortnite, called Marvel Knockout, was added to the game during the v14.10 update – and after some unexpected downtime, it’s finally live for everyone to play. Here’s everything you need to know about the mode. When Season 4 of Fortnite was first announced, Epic Games promised a slew of Marvel-themed content, including a number of powers based on different superheros and, for the most part, the general consensus seems to be that they delivered. The super powers, however, have only been available as weapon pickups. While fair in the normal game, some fans were disappointed that they weren’t able to use the powers more. Now, after some unexpected downtime, a new mode is looking to rectify that problem. What is the Marvel Knockout mode? Marvel Knockout is a new LTM within Fortnite that pits two teams of either two or three players against each other in a tournament style match. The catch is that the players on each team only have access to the new superpowers that were added. The power sets that each players have is random, although both teams will have the same powers at their disposal. For example, if a team has a character with Iron Man gauntlets and the Silver Surfer board, a character on the other team will have the same set up. The Marvel Knockout LTM is back online! Unleash an arsenal of super powers to be the best team on the bracket. pic.twitter.com/wUSkkmlH7w — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) September 10, 2020 How do the rounds work in Marvel Knockout mode? Each round has a certain number of points that teams must reach in order to win. Each kill counts as one point. If the number of points is not met by the time the clock runs out, the team with the most points wins and gets to move on to the next round. If both teams are tied, they will both be eliminated from the tournament. Currently, teams have to make it through four rounds in order to win the tournament. While this doesn’t seem like a lot, it’s more difficult than you might think. Because of this, it’s recommended that players team up with players that they know, rather than let the game find a team for them. That way, you know what to expect from the other players. Everyone has to bring their A-game in this mode in order to win. While the mode is hard, it’s also a ton of fun. Blasting around with superheros in a 2v2 or 3v3 setting might not be the norm for a game like Fortnite, but it’s certainly a welcome addition.

  • Fortnite’s loot boxes now show you what’s inside – new X-Ray Llamas explained – Dexerto

Fortnite’s loot boxes now show you what’s inside – new X-Ray Llamas explained Fortnite is drastically changing the way loot boxes work in its Save the World portion of the game, now allowing players to see what the ‘Llamas’ contain before buying. While Fortnite’s more popular mode, battle royale, doesn’t use a loot box system at all, instead opting for the timed ‘item shop’, the Save the World mode uses the iconic Llamas to incentivize in-game purchases. Previously called ‘V-Buck Llamas’, they are also being renamed to ‘X-Ray Llamas’, as they allow players to see through the once opaque shop window, and see exactly what the Llama contains. It’s a radical change and one that is significant for the entire games industry, not just Fortnite. As the most profitable game in 2018, Fortnite’s daily item shop and ‘battle pass’ progression system has already been adopted by the biggest publishers in gaming, including Activision with Black Ops 4 – a series notorious for less-than generous microtransactions. This change to the loot box system will hopefully encourage more game publishers to take a more transparent approach to their luck-based microtransactions – especially combined with the increased legal scrutiny around loot boxes generally. blog post, Epic Games explained their decision to make a more user-friendly system: “We believe it’s important that the Llamas you buy have what you want, and that you can earn awesome items just for logging in and playing.”How does Save the World ‘X-Ray Llamas’ loot unboxing work? Llamas prices remain the same, and llamas can still be earned through gameplay. – The price doesn’t change when the llama upgrades – you can see the upgrade before you purchase, and any item can come from the cheapest Llama. You can wait and find your favorite weapon in a 50 V-Buck llama, with no guessing! – The items offered are based on your account in order to apply dupe prevention. Dupe Prevention: Introduced in the v5.10 Patch, after the Llama has determined the item rarity and type of drop (Epic or Legendary Hero, Weapon, or Schematic) it will select an item from that category that is not already in your inventory or Collection Book. This applies to Epic, Legendary and Mythic Heroes, Epic and Legendary Schematics and Mythic Lead Survivors. – Example: This means that if the Llama picks Legendary (rarity) Shotgun (type), for example, it will give you a Legendary Shotgun you do not already have. If you have all of the legendary Shotguns, it will give you a duplicate Shotgun. It will not pick from another category. – – Dupe Prevention: Introduced in the v5.10 Patch, after the Llama has determined the item rarity and type of drop (Epic or Legendary Hero, Weapon, or Schematic) it will select an item from that category that is not already in your inventory or Collection Book. This applies to Epic, Legendary and Mythic Heroes, Epic and Legendary Schematics and Mythic Lead Survivors. – Specific items can still be directly purchased with earnable in-game resources. – All the fun of opening Llamas, and only the items you want! – Mini Llamas and event Llamas remain the same as before, and are not getting the X-Ray treatment, and can be purchased through gameplay-earned resources. And to top everything off, every player will receive five free Llama upgrade tokens, so you can try the system out right away.

  • Fortnite’s leaked Week 9 & 10 loading screens show new Snowfall skin – Dexerto

Fortnite’s leaked Week 9 & 10 loading screens show new Snowfall skin Fortnite’s V7.30 update officially released on Tuesday, January 29, and dataminers are already hard at work scouring through the game’s files to find new items, skins and information about the future of the popular battle royale title. It’s become a tradition when a new update is released for skins. Thanks to well-known Fortnite leaker TrixLeaks, Fortnite fans don’t have to wait until they’ve finished their challenges to get a look at the loading screens. Both the Week 9 and 10 loading screens feature what many believe to be the Snowfall skin that will be unlocked by players who complete 60 weekly challenges throughout Season 7. Read More: Fortnite v7.30 patch notes: Chiller Grenade added, Bolt-action Sniper and other weapons vaulted – The Snowfall character has been held prisoner underneath Polar Peak by the sinister Ice King, but in the Week 9 loading screen it appears that the character has finally escaped his wintery prison, walking away from the shackles that have held him captive. The Week 10 loading screen sees the character, who many Fortnite fans believe is The Fire King, sitting in front of a flame overlooking the map, with the chains and cuffs that held him lying broken on the ground beside him. Fortnite’s loading skins often tie in to the overarching storyline that takes place throughout the season, and with the Snowfall character escaping his icey prison, it’s likely we’ll see a confrontation between the pair before the end of Season 7. The V7.30 update also saw a host of changes to the popular title, with the addition of the Chiller Grenade item alongside a number of weapons which have been vaulted, much to the dismay of Fortnite fans.

  • Fortnite’s “Looney Tunes” style death leaves players in stitches – Dexerto

Fortnite’s “Looney Tunes” style death leaves players in stitches Epic GamesOne Fortnite player shared a clip of them getting humbled by this one item, leaving other players amused and dubbing it as “Looney Tunes”-like death. Fortnite may be a Battle Royale where your objective is to blast anyone in sight and be the last one standing, but the game does have its own funny moments. Whether you got tapped by a chicken when you had one health or accidentally blew yourself up with Cluster Clingers – these things tend to happen. While they’re annoying to some extent, the community finds humor in them. Speaking of hilarious deaths in Fortnite, one unlucky player has shared a clip of them dying to a safe, which has been dubbed a “Looney Tunes” like death from other players. The clip started with the player saying that they needed heals. As they headed to a building in Fencing Fields, they noticed the sound of a chest coming from upstairs. And, of course – like what most of us would usually do in that situation, they whipped out their pickaxe and started destroying the roof above them. Usually, chest loot, like medkits, shield potions, or weapons, would fall down if you do this. But the one thing that the player didn’t expect was a safe falling from above, hitting their character and instantly killing them. Granted, they only have 3 HP left to begin with, but others in the comments found this death quite amusing and even surprising – not knowing that safes could actually kill you. Some players referred to this as “Tom & Jerry tomfoolery” aside from the Looney Tunes jokes and references. But there were also others who made a pun, saying that safe was “unsafe.” Minecraft players in the comments, however, didn’t seem that surprised. “Must have never played Minecraft but now you know. Never dig straight up,” one person said. This death reminded me of the one time a Fortnite player got absolutely stomped by a literal bot. Things like this happen in the game, and even I have my own fair share of ‘dumb ways to die’ moments. One of which was accidentally falling off a bridge because I was too stubborn to chase a one-health player. And I had a crown too.

  • Fortnite’s Iceberg island has completely melted after the v7.20 update – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Iceberg island has completely melted after the v7.20 update UPDATE After about 10 hours, the iceberg on an island south of Happy Hamlet has finally broken! The reveal was a bit anticlimactic, however, as it simply revealed a bunker door identical to the one that’s been in Wailing Woods for quite some time. In-Game Footage of the Bunker Reveal after the IceBerg Destruction #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/tZ5AUmHzV8 — Fortnite News :snowflake:️ (@FNBRHQ) January 15, 2019 The release of Fortnite’s V7.20 update has seen the massive iceberg in the corner of the map begin to melt. The 7.20 update brought some massive changes to the game, including the new Scoped Revolver and the reintroduction of Glider Redeploy as an item. One change that has slipped under the radar comes in the map’s south-west corner, where the large iceberg that floats of the side of the main island has started to thaw. First noticed by Fortnite leaker lucas7yoshi, the large boulder of ice that sits on the island just below Happy Hamlet has started to melt, as players can see that it now has a health bar, which is slowly decreasing with every passing second. Players cannot deal any damage to the iceberg to speed up the process, seemingly confirming that it will be part of an event, as the boulder will melt at the exact same time in every match, rather than at different points depending on whether players are destroying it. The ice appears to be damaged every second, but with the boulder having around five billion health points, it will take some time before the object is completely melted. the icerbeg on the island bottom left where the bunker is RAPIDLY decreasing in health every single second (30,000 A SECONDish) of 5 billion pic.twitter.com/IKrdp9lQWZ — Lucas7yoshi_ // Fortnite News & Leaks (@lucas7yoshi_) January 15, 2019 Players have previously found a hidden bunker underneath the ice boulder, so it’s likely players will be able to get inside the structure once the iceberg melts. Eagle-eyed Fortnite fans have also discovered a massive floating orb in the sky above Polar Peak, which turns players screen white with frost when players get too close it. There has also been a number of leaks from the game files following the V7.20 update, including new skins and cosmetics, a mysterious music video, and even a new ‘medieval sword’ weapon.

  • Fortnite’s Infinity Blade should return – On one condition – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Infinity Blade should return – On one condition The overpowered Infinity Blade was removed from Fortnite because of its devastating effects, but bringing it back inside a limited time mode could be its pathway back into battle royale in the future. The sword was introduced with the v7.01 patch at the beginning of Season, but lasted just eight days before it became so irritating for both casual and competitive gamers that Epic Games decided to vault the weapon on December 14 of last year. Now, though, one Fortnite fan has proposed an idea that could allow the Infinity Blade to make a much more balanced appearance in the battle royale game – by making it available to everybody in a LTM. This idea would trap the overpowered blade in one specific game mode, much like the Battle Royale Infinity Gauntlet LTM, which allowed one player per session to pick up a mythic item and transform into Thanos, a fictional supervillain from Marvel Comics. However, this concept would have a slight twist. TheMewZe posted their newest ClosER Encounters LTM concept to the FortniteBR subreddit and revealed that they would like to see not just one, but potentially up to one hundred of them in one game! “Everyone spawns with the Infinity Blade! It will be fair because will be on a perfectly equal playing field, with an awesome item” the Reddit user posted, laying out the rules of the proposed mode. They also stated that it would be a good idea – if the concept was ever added to the game – to have the speed and damage of the storm doubled as players can move around quicker while wielding the sword. It proved to be very polarizing when it was first added to the game, as it would give whoever held it 200 health and shield automatically, with that replenishing every time they eliminated another playing. This led to many professional gamers and streamers calling for the Infinity Blade to be removed even after nerfs were applied. But, could this LTM concept be a way that it returns in the future?

  • Fortnite’s Ice Storm could bring zombie hordes for the winter season – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Ice Storm could bring zombie hordes for the winter season Epic GamesFortnite looks to be on track for another visit from the undead in the upcoming Ice Storm event as a new leak has emerged that contains audio files and images related to the Ice King’s zombie army. Fortnite’s winter event started innocent enough as it covered a portion of the map in a blanket of snow, but more sinister events loom on the horizon as the Ice King’s attack on the landscape evolves. Fortnite leak source FortTory has uncovered files in the game that contain eerily familiar sounds for spawns with an icy twist, and a leaked image from Reddit user igootin all but seals the impending zombie attack. The Reddit image shows a ghastly humanoid figure with glowing veins across its body that pierces through its eyes and mouth like the fiends in the Fortnitemare event from October 2018. Just like in that event, the sounds from the explosive zombie spawns have been reintroduced to the game, this time with a crackling frozen element to the effect. The files themselves also indicate a ghoulish foe is on the horizon, as files repeatedly include the name Deimos that relates to the Greek diety of the same name that means ‘dread.’ The sounds for the zombie spawners! The Ice Zombie Spawners! You can hear that they again get created by lightning… but from where will the lightning come this time? pic.twitter.com/h4vetlsxa0— FortTory – Fortnite Leaks & News (@FortTory) January 16, 2019 Although an impending freeze attack is coming to the battle royale, FortTory isn’t sure if the zombies are coming to the king of the hill mode. However the polished nature of the leaked sights and sounds almost assuredly point to their inclusion. More will be known as the event goes on, which might have to do something with the mysterious orb in Fortnite’s sky.

  • Fortnite’s Hand Cannon problem is forcing pros to play Apex Legends – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Hand Cannon problem is forcing pros to play Apex Legends Epic Games / RespawnEpic Games are always being made aware of issues and bugs that appear in Fortnite, but many pro gamers have become increasingly frustrated that the Hand Cannon is still an active weapon – with some even threatening to boycott the game in favor of Apex Legends. Many members of the game’s competitive community have vented their anger about the weapon still not being sent to the vault, despite reports of it being incredibly overpowered. Some well-known streamers have even threatened to quit Fortnite, as others are now streaming other video games on Twitch. “No Fortnite until the Desert Eagle [Hand Cannon] is vaulted,” TSM_HighDistortion tweeted, after sharing a link to his stream on February 6. Interestingly, the streamer has decided to ditch Epic’s game – perhaps just for the time being – for another popular battle royale game, Apex Legends. The game, which is published by Electronic Arts and developer by Titanfall’s Respawn team, was released on February and is already being seen as potential competition for Fortnite. Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem and Dr Disrespect are already teasing an upcoming tournament for the game. No FN till deagle is vaulted https://t.co/HgxXrMqjDb — TSM HighDistortion (@HighDistortion) February 6, 2019 HighDistortion is not the only pro player complaining about the Hand Cannon, though, several big names from the competitive community have also seemingly become tired of its issues. That is all. — FaZe Thiefs (@Thiefs) February 6, 2019 Whether or not more pro Fortnite players and streamers will ditch the game for Apex Legends remains to be seen, but it’s clear that a section of the game’s competitive community have become tired with some elements of its Battle Royale mode.

  • Fortnite’s Hand Cannon updated ahead of possible Season 3 return – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Hand Cannon updated ahead of possible Season 3 return Epic GamesEagle-eyed Fortnite fans have noticed that the infamous Hand Cannon’s weapon model has been updated, sparking speculation it will make a return in the upcoming, and highly anticipated, Season 3. While originally chalked to end on April 30, Fortnite Chapter Two’s second season was given a lengthy extension and, barring any further delays, is set to end on June 3, with Season 3 launching immediately after. Despite being incredibly close, large portions of the Season 3 update remain unclear. Players don’t know how the Doomsday Device will factor in, or how Midas’ thievery will reach a climax. Recent changes, however, have led to people speculating that the infamous Hand Cannon will make a reappearance. The original Hand Cannon was vaulted, alongside a host of other gadgets when Chapter Two launched in October of 2019. However, it remains available to players in Fortnite’s Creative mode, and changes made to the weapon could indicate it will return in Season 3. On May 27, Redditor PM092 shared an image of the hand cannon in Creative, showing its model has been significantly changed. The major change players will notice is that it has become much darker in color, with the original grey being replaced by a much darker shade. Other changes made include more rivets and a more obvious hammer and rear-sight. It should go without saying that the updated model is not a guarantee that the Hand Cannon will return in Season 3. It could simply be that Epic wanted to update the model for the benefit of players using it in Creative. We will continue to bring you all the latest news and rumors surrounding Fortnite Season 3 as they become available.

  • Fortnite’s Hand Cannon is back — but it’s almost impossible to get one – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Hand Cannon is back — but it’s almost impossible to get one Epic GamesSome Fortnite players are beginning to wonder where Epic Games hid the Hand Cannon. It’s back in the game, but players are venting their frustration at just how rare it is to get your hands on one of them. Fortnite update 29.10 brought the ever-popular Hand Cannons back from the vault. With the re-release of this pistol, Fortnite also put out a challenge to go along with it. The current challenge tasks players to get two headshots with the Hand Cannon. While the task may seem simple enough, the headshot is not the most difficult aspect. Turns out, the hardest challenge is to get your hands on the gun to begin with. Players are now searching for the Hand Cannon to complete the challenge. However, the spawn rate of this gun has players questioning if they even exist in the game. Fortnite sometimes tweaks the spawn rate of items or weapons to balance out the meta. Something that was just done to sniper rifles to cut down on the number of them in the game. “That’s what me and my duo were just talking about. I can find a sniper fairly easily. Hand Cannon I’ve seen maybe 3 times since it was introduced.” pointed out one commenter. Not only is the Hand Cannon seemingly difficult to get, but the challenge itself is deemed even harder. Some argue that even if the Hand Cannon could be found, getting two headshots with it would be difficult considering the speed of the weapon. Not only that, but players also pointed out that being unable to purchase the gun through a vending machine or other NPC seems like an oversight. “Epic, if a weekly challenge requires a gun. Make it buyable from a NPC or vending machine. It’s absolutely absurd that I can’t buy it.” stated another commenter. Whether Fortnite will up the spawn rate of Hand Cannons to compensate for the weekly challenge remains unseen. For the time being, players will have to keep their eyes peeled for this elusive gun to make progress on their weeklies.

  • Fortnite’s Grill Sergeant Outfit Is Being Removed from People’s Lockers and the Item Shop – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Grill Sergeant Outfit Is Being Removed from People’s Lockers and the Item Shop The Grill Sergeant outfit has been removed from Fortnite’s Item Shop and players’ lockers just hours after being added due to a number of strange bugs and glitches. The highly anticipated skin was added to the item shop on September 10, but it was plagued by bugs and removed from both the item shop and player lockers soon after. In a statement on Twitter, Epic Games revealed that they were “investigating issues” and will report back when they know more: “We are investigating issues with the Grill Sergeant outfit that was temporarily available in the store. We’ll report back when we have more information.” KEEMTSAR’s Friday Fortnite Tournaments Are Set to Return Very Soon Elsewhere, some fans could see nothing but a floating “Jonesy” head and a weapon when the skin was used in-game! Prior to the statement from Epic Games, many players expressed concern about the Grill Sergeant skin being removed from their locker without a refund. However, this latest development seems to suggest that this is a temporary issue and that the Grill Sergeant will either return to their lockers or be refunded in full once the developers figure out a fix. Read More: Competitive Fortnite Player Shows the Power of the Grappler With Impressive Killing Spree – For the time being, the Grill Sergeant has been replaced by the “Recon Scout” – a rare outfit that is currently available for a total of 1,200 V-Bucks. If you want something a little more eye catching, the Power Chord outfit is also currently available as a featured item. The Legendary skin will cost you 2,000 V-Bucks but this is the first time that it has been available for around 6 months, so don’t expect to get another chance to pick it up any time soon.

  • Fortnite’s Gwenpool is literally just insulting players – and they love it – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Gwenpool is literally just insulting players – and they love it Epic GamesFortnite just added Gwenpool, the pink-haired Marvel anti-hero, and she has broken the fourth wall like it’s her day job. When Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 launched with its Marvel-themed skins, revamped loot pool, and new locations, players were excited. The map was swarmed by characters like Captain Jones, Mysterio, and Emma Frost. However, despite all the hype, one face was conspicuously absent: Gwenpool. She was technically trapped in a cell in The Raft, handing out a secret questline that could grant you some extra XP. But a month after the season’s start, Gwenpool has arrived in Fortnite with all her fourth-wall-breaking glory. Her chaotic attitude has made her one of the most exciting NPCs of the season. You can find Gwenpool hanging out at Reckless Railways, ready to dish out some “helpful” advice. Ask her for Fortnite tips, and she’ll quip back, “I dunno. Pick up a weapon, aim it, and win I guess? If you can’t do that… Skill issue, dude.” If you don’t want to get roasted, you can chat about her being a superhero or her cute Pig. Gwenpool comes armed with her own Dual Micro SMGs and she’s one of the few NPCs who sells mythic gear in Fortnite. Thanks to this, you can buy the mythic version of the fast-firing SMGs directly from her, which weren’t available in the game before. However, the Dual Micro SMGs aren’t moddable. When brought to a bench, players will get the message: “Equip a moddable weapon to see available options.” For a bit of flavor, the standard message has been scribbled with a Pig-Gwen icon and a snarky message from Gwenpool herself: “WHY WOULD IT BE MODDABLE? IT’S ALREADY PERFECT.” Unsurprisingly, the community likes Gwenpool just as much. Social media is buzzing with comments like, “Gwenpool is… an appropriately toxic Fortnite NPC,” and “She was inspired by the community lol.” Gwenpool’s sarcastic energy has been resonating with players. As a third one put it, “Once again she has the best dialog in the game.” After a week of backlash over storms insta-killing them and the “best skin” drama in Super Styles, Epic might finally be getting something right with Gwenpool’s design.

  • Fortnite’s Galaxy skin to get new glider, pickaxe and back bling – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Galaxy skin to get new glider, pickaxe and back bling Data miners are hard at work scouring through the update files of the latest Fortnite V6.20 patch, hoping to find clues and hints about what is coming up in the massively popular battle royale title. One thing that they have been able to find is the future of the popular Galaxy skin, which will be getting a new glider, pickaxe and back bling at some stage in the future. It seems like these items will be retroactively given to players who already own the Galaxy skin, as the file these items were found in is labelled ‘Cosmetics.Source.Promo’, and not in the ‘Cosmetics.Source.ItemShop’ folder that they appear in before they become available to purchase in-game. The three items are all labelled with the term ‘Celestial’, linking them back to the Galaxy skin, that was only available to Fortnite players who purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phone during a special promotion earlier in the summer. Images of all three items have been found in the files, named the ‘Galactic Disk’ back bling, the ‘Discovery’ glider and the ‘Stellar’ pickaxe, although there is no official release date for this pack. Data miners have already leaked the loading screens for the Week 5 Hunting Party challenges, along with unreleased skins, pickaxes and cosmetic items. These leaks have all been found in the update files for Fortnite patch V6.20, which officially launched Fortnitemares, a spooky Halloween event that will be taking place, alongside a new weapon named the ‘Six Shooter’.

  • Fortnite’s floating island has activated the final rune ahead of rumored major cube event – Dexerto

Fortnite’s floating island has activated the final rune ahead of rumored major cube event The last of the runes left by the Fortnite cube in Season 5 has finally been activated by the mysterious floating island that rose out Loot Lake at the start of Season 6. The floating island has been travelling from one rune to another since the season began, stopping to hover over each one in turn to activate it. Once activated, the strange symbols open up and new pieces of the cube/island have risen from the ground to join it. In fact, the house on the island now contains a large proportion of purple bricks – the color associated with the cube’s corruption. Now the process is set to happen, presumably for the last time, at the rune near Dusty Divot. This means that the area around the rune will now contain the weird volcanic pits that launch players into the air when touched. A number of leaks after the recent V6.10 update suggested that another major event was coming to the island soon, so the timing would certainly fit with it moving on from the final corrupted area. A number of sound files supposedly related to this event were also shared by Sud4nym on Twitter: *CUBE EVENT “”MUSIC””* Thoughts…? • Fortnite’s Galactus event smashes huge player record set by Travis Scott – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Galactus event smashes huge player record set by Travis Scott Epic Games / MarvelFortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 ended with a bang as millions of players joined forces to take down Marvel’s planet-sized supervillain, Galactus, setting a new concurrent player record in the process. Fortnite players have been on a collision course with Marvel’s Galactus for a long time now. An inevitable showdown between them and the imposing supervillain became more obvious as the season progressed. At the beginning of the battle, everyone watched in horror as Galactus finally approached the island and claimed he was hungry as he swatted a helicopter out of the sky. Fortunately, Iron Man turned up and told Fortnite players how they could help. Funnily enough, their duties involved piloting a battle bus armed with explosives to feed him. Eventually, after enough damage was dealt, Galactus exploded, and the island was saved. It wasn’t the all-guns-blazing battle that players had anticipated, but it still turned out to be incredibly fun. Plus, it attracted so many people that the event smashed Fortnite’s previous concurrent player record, yet again. Fortnite’s first major concurrent player record was set during the Party Royale Premier. Millions of players from all around the world hopped in to celebrate the game’s 350 million registered player milestone. It was impressive at the time, but it didn’t take long to beat. Travis Scott’s Astronomical music event smashed it out of the park when he led a whopping 12.3 million Fortnite players on a magical mystery tour. Nobody thought it would be possible to topple that. However, Epic Games is always looking for new ways to push the envelope and watch it bend. Fortnite’s Galactus event attracted even more concurrent players and viewers and set the bar even higher. Read more: Relive the Fortnite Galactus live event – “We defeated him!” said Epic Games. “A record 15.3 million concurrent players joined forces in our biggest event ever to fight back Galactus in today’s in-game event, while more than 3.4 million cheered and watched on YouTube and Twitch!” We defeated him! • Fortnite’s Flint-Knock Pistol looks insane from first footage – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Flint-Knock Pistol looks insane from first footage Epic GamesEpic Games have introduced some interesting features to Fortnite in Season 8 so far, but first footage of the Flint-Knock Pistol shows it might be one of the most powerful weapons added yet. Long-term fans of the game will notice that the new handgun, which was added to the game’s battle royale mode with the v8.11 content update, looks very similar to the previously removed Revolver, but with a pirate feel to it. However, based on the footage that we have so far of the pistol in action, it looks a lot powerful than its vaulted predecessor. Epic Games themselves were the first to release a video of the new Flint-Knock Pistol. The developer posted a clip of it in action on the official Fortnite Twitter account, as well as the v8.11 patch notes. Jumping high on top of a building at Tilted Towers before picking up a kill, the video below appears to show the player surging backwards after the elimination. This is perhaps what Epic was hinting at when they wrote that the weapon had “a kick to it” in its official description. *Knock, knock* The Flint-Knock Pistol is here with v8.11! Hopefully you don’t get knocked by it too much, anyway.

  • Fortnite’s fire hydrants are shockingly effective at launching enemies – Dexerto

Fortnite’s fire hydrants are shockingly effective at launching enemies Fire hydrants could be more useful than you may think thanks to this hilarious Fortnite mechanic that can launch your opponents across the map. Epic Games consistently updates Fortnite with fresh map additions and new destructive weapons aplenty. Fire hydrants have been a feature across the numerous maps for years at this point however, yet dedicated players are still discovering new ways to manipulate the explosive terrain. It turns out that the streaming jets of water can actually be utilized to boost your opponent’s sky-high thanks to this hilarious tactic. Showcased throughout a December 3 post from Reddit user ‘Maz_____,’ the player revealed there’s a hilarious method in which you can use the force from a broken fire hydrant to propel enemies a great distance. After a nearby enemy was knocked to the ground in an early fight with multiple opponents scavenging for loot, this particular player decided to pick up the wounded character and carry him out of a rooftop. Dropping to the streets below, the player momentarily drops their enemy in order to pickaxe the nearby fire hydrant. Jumping into the stream of water and dropping the carried opponent at the exact same time leads to a hilarious clash of physics wherein, a body gets sent flying through the sky. Being able to carry downed players is a relatively new mechanic that was introduced with the implementation of Fortnite Chapter 2 on October 15. This mechanic allows you to put your enemies in favorable positions to lure out enemies, or even carry your wounded allies to safety in order to revive them behind cover. Read more: When will Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 1 end? – There’s no telling just how far a player can be launched with this amusing fire hydrant tactic but there’s no denying that it’s a hilarious way to displace your opponents and potentially even put them out of range for a revive. New innovative ways to manipulate the map and various weapons are always being uncovered by dedicated Fortnite players. Just recently for instance, an ingenious use of the Harpoon gun was put on display and it might be just as embarrassing as the fire hydrant launch.

  • Fortnite’s Flint-Knock Pistol has a hidden ability – here’s how to use it – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Flint-Knock Pistol has a hidden ability – here’s how to use it Epic Games/MoogikalFortnite’s Flint-Knock Pistol, which was added to the game in the v8.11 update on March 20, has a number of interesting features, but this ability will make the weapon even more useful. What is the Flint-Knock Pistol’s hidden ability? Since its addition on March 20, the Flint-Knock has been popular with Fortnite players due to its unique features, including a knock-back effect on both the shooter and the person being shot. The community was quick to figure out ways of using these to their advantage, noting that if fired at the ground whilst falling, the knock-back effect can minimise fall damage taken. However, one eagle-eyed Reddit user noticed that shooting an enemy whilst they are gliding does more than knock them physically back. In the clip, Reddit user ‘moogikal’ shoots an enemy gliding towards him, which forces the enemy to drop his glider and fall to the ground, causing them to lose their high ground and potentially take fall damage. When is the Flint-Knock Pistol’s hidden ability best used? As with the knock-back effect of the weapon, it is a range-dependent effect. If the opponent is too far away while gliding, they will not be forced to drop their glider. Hence, it is most useful when opponents are close and try to glide and land on a player, as they can be forced lower and high ground can be retained. The ability is already used by a number of prominent players, such as FaZe Clan’s Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney, particularly in late game scenarios as players scramble to reach the new circles. However, it is not a well-known ability amongst most public players, but can be used just as effectively if done correctly. The discovery comes as the v8.40 update is implemented into Fortnite, introducing changes such as an Air Royale LTM and the Epic and Legendary variations of the Infantry Rifle.

  • Fortnite’s fastest fishing method in Chapter 5 Season 2 is a must-know trick – Dexerto

Fortnite’s fastest fishing method in Chapter 5 Season 2 is a must-know trick Epic GamesFishing in Fortnite can be fun when you’re unbothered, but if you’re in a pinch, then this player’s neat trick can show you how to instantly catch fish in seconds. Fishing was introduced in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1, letting players do exactly as the name implies, provided they had the proper equipment. It’s a worthwhile activity since you can catch a whole range of fish that provide different healing benefits. However, given everyone is out to win, nefarious players will ruin your peaceful side activity and some fish are way more useful than others. That said, one Fortnite player’s genius tip shares how players can clear out fishing spots in seconds in Chapter 5 Season 2. Fortnite player reveals ultimate Shield Breaker fishing trick Shared to the Fortnite subreddit, one player showed a good use for the Shield Breaker, as they tossed it in the water and forced all the fish to rise. The discovery actually surprised quite a few players: “I never would have even thought to try that. Great tip!” Others added that explosions also prompt this effect, thus negating the necessity of having the Shield Breaker. A few other players shared their lesser-known uses for the item: “They are a great counter to people in cars. Throw them at vending and you can get gold, you can also shockwave up and throw them down on your opponent.” As the season progresses, there’s bound to be more useful tips and tricks to pop up. We’ll keep you updated as they do.

  • Fortnite’s final circles are being overrun by chaotic Airbenders – Dexerto

Fortnite’s final circles are being overrun by chaotic Airbenders Epic GamesFortnite matches have become more chaotic than ever as players use the new Avatar Airbending mythic to survive in Zero Build during the final storm circles. The Fortnite Avatar update is almost over as players finish off their Elements quests. Players need to utilize Bending Scroll mythics and visit Elemental Shrines to complete these challenges in their Battle Royale and Zero Build matches. Owing to its OP traversal ability, Airbending was one such mythic item that was the most popular among players. Though the item is a viable substitute for the vaulted Wings of Icarus, players are now using it to survive during matches, which is causing havoc with the final storm circles. These circles in Zero Build mode are getting severely swamped by exploiters, because of the wild Airbenders. Utilizing the Air Wheel feature of the Airbending mythic, players are racing around frantically to survive and fight for Victory Royale. In a Reddit clip shared by a Fortnite player, nearly all the surviving players can be seen moving around one another while using the Air Wheel. However, as the storm circle continues to shrink, players exit the wheel and start firing at one another. The user who shared the clip accurately describes the state of Zero Build’s final circles at the moment since Airbending Mythic has no cooldown, which means players can use and surf around in the Air Wheel indefinitely unless they switch to another weapon. Players have also employed Airbending to do tricks like jumping higher than usual on the island, instantly reviving teammates, or extending their field of view. However, when the Star Wars update arrives in the game on May 3, 2024, the mythic item and other Avatar crossover material will be vaulted.

  • Fortnite’s Driftboard is finally coming soon – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Driftboard is finally coming soon After months of uncertainty regarding the future of Fortnite’s Driftboard, Epic Games have finally announced that the item will be arriving in the popular battle royale title. The Driftboard was first announced back in December 2018, and was scheduled to be included in the 7.10 Update for the game. Fans were eagerly anticipating the arrival of the item, but just days before the patch released, Epic Games informed players that the release of the Driftboard had been delayed due to a bug that had been found involving the vehicle. Since then, Epic Games have remained tight lipped about the Driftboard and its future in Fortnite, but after weeks of speculation, the developers have confirmed that the item will be making an appearance in the game at last. Fortnite’s in-game news feed updated on Sunday, February 17 to announce that the item would be arriving in the game in the near future, but it appears that it won’t be a permanent fixture. The announcement reads: “Mobility. Style. Flare. Put your own spin on the game with the new limited time Driftboard,” seemingly confirming that Fortnite fans won’t be able to zoom around the map permanently. Fortnite’s in-game news feed was updated on Sunday, February 17. Thanks to some exploits in the game’s Creative mode, some Fortnite fans have already had a chance to have a go on the Driftboard, uploading footage that gives us a glimpse of what we can expect when the item finally goes live. Data miners spotted a special limited time mode hidden in the V7.40 called Driftin’ LTM, which is expected to be where players can hop on the vehicle. It’s currently unknown if the item will be available in core game modes.

  • Fortnite’s Doom Island weekend buff left players disappointed – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Doom Island weekend buff left players disappointed Epic Games / StealthyAfter Doom Island’s spawn rate increased temporarily over the first weekend of September, many Fortnite players were left disappointed as the island’s rarity was still so prevalent. Fortnite’s 31.10 update for the Absolute Doom event introduced the Ultra Doom mythic which was just way too hard to get. Doom Island normally only has a 5% chance to spawn in your Battle Royale match. Fortunately, the weekend of September 6-8 buffed the Ultra Doom mythic to appear 12% of the time, a 7% spawn rate increase. Despite this decent increase in the island’s spawn rate, the majority of players online have claimed that the buff was disappointing, as the mythic still rarely showed up. September 9 marked the day that Doom Island went back to normal with a 5% spawn chance, and many of the replies to this post on X were from fans who never once saw the Isle of Doom show up. “[H]asn’t spawned at all for me,” one response claimed, alongside plenty of other replies. A few players said they found it just the previous night on Sunday, September 8, but it doesn’t mean they claimed the power for themselves. “I saw it once last night, got up on it, was trying to figure out how to become Doom, than other people showed up and I died,” one comment said. Even another fan explained how they died in the game where the island appeared. The good news is that Fortnite just made a post on X teasing the possibility of Doom’s spawn rate increasing in the future. This should hopefully leave disappointed players with some hope that they will find the Isle of Doom more often in the future once Epic Games inevitably increases its spawn chance. Other than the low occurrence of Doom Island, many Fortnite players are worried that Captain Jones’ endgame is nearing.

  • Fortnite’s Dr. Doom was meant to be a villain – but it turns out he saved the world – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Dr. Doom was meant to be a villain – but it turns out he saved the world Fortnite/Dexerto/UnsplashDoctor Doom stormed into Fortnite’s Chapter 5, Season 4, cloaked in mystery, as the ominous secret skin everyone wanted but also feared. The community thought Doctor Doom was the ultimate villain, ready to wreak havoc on our beloved island. And honestly, who could blame them? If his appearance in the Absolute Doom trailer was anything to go by, he was a walking apocalypse harnessing the devastating powers of Pandora’s Box. His ominous Castle Doom was a shrine to his conquests, littered with gruesome trophies like The Thing, reduced to a mere throne. I mean, the guy kept Human Torch’s still-beating heart as a living furnace. But, to my and the Fortnite community’s shock, while everyone was panicking about his plans to tear the Fortnite island apart, Doctor Doom was actually saving it. Press B to thank Doctor Doom Sure, Doctor Doom turned heroes into furniture, but let’s focus on the bigger picture – he spared us from Megalo Don’s reign of terror. At the end of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, Megalo Don was more than ready to delete the island with his Nitro Farms and Leviathan. That’s when Doctor Doom, our unsung hero, swept in to save the day. Forget about thanking the bus driver. I want to press B to thank Doctor Doom. Doom’s move wasn’t about mindless destruction; it was strategic. His influence stabilized the island at a time when it could have crumbled under Megalo Don’s onslaught. Doom set up shop, built a city, and even got a train running in Fortnite. Public transportation in this battle royale is a real miracle. Unlike most hostile NPCs on the map, Doctor Doom’s goons are totally chill unless you pick a fight first. It’s almost as if Doom was a misunderstood genius all along. Antihero? Yes. Villain? Not so much Someone in the Fortnite Reddit pointed out Fortnite’s version of Doctor Doom is “chaotic good.” I’m inclined to agree. The truth is, if it weren’t for Doom’s intervention, we’d probably be getting gnawed on by a Nitro-hungry Wasteland Warrior who’s desperately in need of vitamin D. Yes, Doctor Doom did siphon some power from Pandora’s Box, but did he use it to enslave the world? No, he kept it all in check, likely hoping someone would finally free his mom’s soul and give the guy a break. Let’s face it, if the Doctor himself had set his sights on total destruction, we’d be… doomed. Joking aside, maybe Doctor Doom isn’t the heartless villain everyone thought he was in Fortnite. He saved the island in his own twisted way, and frankly, Fortnite has seen far worse. Remember The Cube Queen? She tried to obliterate the entire map with alien fleets. Even Midas, who wasn’t exactly evil, caused chaos with that disastrous device of his. Doom is practically a saint compared to these maniacs. Doctor Doom entered Fortnite as a supposed villain, but his actions spoke louder than his dark persona. While the community braced for catastrophe, Doom quietly held the island together, warding off an even greater threat. Sure, he’s not perfect – his taste in home decor is downright horrifying – but, in the grand scheme of Fortnite’s ever-chaotic universe, Doom might just be the unexpected hero we never knew we needed. Maybe, just maybe, if someone returns his mom’s soul, he’ll finally leave us alone. Until then, let’s cut the guy some slack. He’s saved us more than we’re willing to admit, even if it means sitting on a throne made out of The Thing.

  • Fortnite’s default Jonesy skin looked very different in original designs – Dexerto

Fortnite’s default Jonesy skin looked very different in original designs Epic GamesFortnite Battle Royale has had everything from the weird to the wonderful in terms of skins added to the game, but fans appear to have always had a soft spot for Jonesy. However, he didn’t always look the way that players know and love. Epic Games have added some of the most iconic characters from successful franchises to the world of Fortnite in recent months, with crossovers including Star Wars, Marvel’s Avengers, and more, but some players will always stick with Jonesy and the defaults skins. After all, it’s one of the first skins to have been added to the game when it first came out in September 2017 and people like a bit of nostalgia. But, it could have been quite different if some of the original designs were selected instead. There have often been jokes made in the community about non-skins not being good players, which has driven more people towards using Jonesy and other original skins as their outfit of choice. With such an interest in the finished article clear for all to see, it has been interesting to find out just what players think about the original designs too – some of which were posted to Reddit by user Lui_Does_Stuff. Well, there are seven images to be exact, showing all sorts of facial feature changes. Concepts include those with a different chin, jawline, hair style, facial expression, and even one that slightly resembles Chip Hazard from Universal’s 1998 movie Toy Soldiers, too. Check it out. Whether or not future Jonesy skins, potentially released for themed events, will make use out of some of these expressions is unclear, but fans certainly seem to like them. “Damn my boy Jonesy got that clean cut,” one Reddit user posted, with another mentioned something Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney fans have been joking about for quite some time. They said: “Third from the left on the bottom literally looks like Tfue… like spot on”. It’s unclear as to why Epic Games turned down some of these ideas in favor of the Jonesy that eventually made it into Fortnite Battle Royale, but it was certainly the right pick – based on the popularity of the skin still going strong 11 seasons in.

  • Fortnite’s comeback: How Epic conquered gaming all over again – Dexerto

Fortnite’s comeback: How Epic conquered gaming all over again Epic GamesFortnite has made a huge comeback in 2023, wowing players with the addition of LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival. So, here’s how Epic Games achieved what many believed was unfathomable. Battle Royale has historically been a popular gaming genre, thanks to its adrenaline-fueled firefights and emphasis on teamwork. However, Fortnite has changed what a BR game can be. Fortnite has always stood out from other titles like Warzone, Apex Legends, and PUBG – partly thanks to its building mechanics a novel approach that allows players to build structures to defend themselves against assaulting opponents. Although the gaming community acknowledged Fortnite’s status as one of the most popular Battle Royale games, it experienced a decline from 2021 to 2023. However, the game has once more regained the number one spot on the rankings, with Epic having crafted one of this year’s greatest comeback stories The “peak” Fortnite period KRAFTON’s Player’s Unknown Battle Grounds (PUBG) introduced Battle Royale games to mainstream audiences in 2017, a year when first-person shooters and single-player games were the talk of the town. A new genre of gameplay emerged with the release of the title, featuring extended match durations and the need for players to strategically plan their loadouts and positions. However, Fortnite swiftly established itself as a leader in the battle royale genre by capitalizing on the trend towards immersive visuals, accessible gameplay, and inventive building mechanics. Due to streamers such as Tfue and Ninja, the game’s cross-platform accessibility, and its free-to-play model – Fortnite facilitated widespread acclaim that propelled it to prominence. As of 2018, Fortnite had transcended gaming and emerged as a cultural phenomenon. It had been featured in films, television programs, and sporting events, while the game’s unique dance emotes, including “Orange Justice” and “Floss,” had become ubiquitous in popular culture. In 2019, the game was at its pinnacle when it hosted the inaugural Fortnite World Cup, where Bugha emerged victorious with the most substantial cash reward of $1 million – an unprecedented amount of money in a Battle Royale competition. Conversely, despite the game’s peak being reached during Chapter 2’s Travis Scott concert and a comprehensive Marvel crossover, Fornite struggled to maintain its newfound momentum in subsequent seasons. Falling from the high ground Following a live event that concluded Fortnite Chapter 2, the player count experienced a decline in Chapter 3 as a result of insufficient content. In addition to the World Cup being substituted with seasonal FNCS (Fortnite Champion Series), the Battle Royale island and weaponry failed to exhibit the same level of innovation that players had appreciated in Chapters 1 and 2. Although Epic continued to provide regular content, the updates and hotfixes failed to resonate with the majority of users. Certain players assert that their primary motivation for switching to alternative Battle Royale titles, such as Apex Legends and Warzone, was the absence of live events and LTMs. Despite this, Epic continued to invest heavily in Fortnite and used in-game cosmetics sales as leverage to introduce noteworthy crossovers, despite its legal dispute with Apple and Google Play regarding third-party pricing in their respective stores. Fortnite’s downfall was already apparent at that time, as several prominent content creators and competitive players withdrew from the game entirely, declaring it to be “dead.” The Epic renaissance of Fortnite Fortnite entered a brand-new era in Chapter 4, following a disastrous Chapter 3 that lasted only four seasons. It’s here where the game regained prominence due to the introduction of new movement mechanics, weapons, and, for the first time, a Zero Build mode designed to facilitate new players. Fortnite’s gameplay in Chapter 4 was once more entertaining and delivered intense action to players, whether it was the anticipation surrounding MEGA City’s Grind Rails or Attack on Titan’s ODM Gear. In addition to conventional firearms, several new weapon types were added, enabling users to experiment with their strategy during matches. Moreover, the introduction of Unreal Engine enabled players to transform the game into a true metaverse space akin to Roblox, by enabling the creation of more immersive experiences with Unreal Engine 5. Despite a gradual increase in the game’s player base before the release of UEFN, Epic rolled back the clock with Season OG. Not only did it evoke nostalgia amongst players by transporting them to the Chapter 1 island, but it also introduced new movement mechanics. Former Fortnite fans returned, reuniting with their pals on the OG island, shattering the game’s all-time player-peak record since stats became public. Season OG’s player peak was surpassed by LEGO Fortnite, a surprise update that has been met with a lot of praise from the community. The player base has since been sharing their innovative creations and going viral on social media. Fortnite has now evolved into a vibrant ecosystem teeming with players of all ages, incorporating three additional game modes in addition to its signature Battle Royale mode. While there’s still a long way for Epic to go with its top Battle Royale title, its comeback story is one for the history books. For more about the game, check out our Fortnite coverage right here at Dexerto.

  • Fortnite’s decision to remove Greek mythics with Avatar update backfires – Dexerto

Fortnite’s decision to remove Greek mythics with Avatar update backfires Epic GamesFortnite is facing backlash from players against their decision to remove Greek-themed mythic weapons with the latest Avatar update. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2’s first major crossover with Avatar: The Last Airbender arrived this past week. A new questline, mini-pass, skins, and new mythic weapons based on the Avatar elements were added to the game. However, with the addition of four new mythic items, Epic decided to remove the Greek-themed mythic weapons from the game until the collab event ends on May 3rd. The three vaulted items include Chains of Hades, Wings of Icarus, and Thunderbolt of Zeus, which were added at the beginning of the season. Upon the announcement of the vaulting of these items, several players blasted Epic. One such player said, “It’s like Epic is purposely pissing people off now.” Another chimed in, “Could’ve kept the wings for movement at least.” A third one wrote, “Hopefully the Avatar mythics will be worth vaulting these for.” However, several others commented in favor of Epic’s decision and said, “The first Epic W since Chapter 5? That’d be crazy. It took them 4 months to do.” Another replied, “Makes sense. With all the bending types in-game having all of those in the mix too would be a lot of stuff to deal with.” While players are understandably upset with Epic’s decision, it makes sense to vault them since the Bending Mythics are viable replacements for each. For instance, the Wings of Icarus that provided mobility have now been replaced by Airbending which serves a similar purpose. For the Chains of Hades, Firebending is the perfect replacement that deals fire damage in quick succession to enemies and a slam that deals damage to a greater area. As for the Thunderbolt of Zeus, Waterbending is a viable option instead since it is currently the most OP Avatar mythic in the game due to its ability to deal damage at long range. Since Epic has always had reasons to modify the loot pool to improve weapon balance in the Battle Royale, most of it is being currently done ahead of the FNCS 2024 season and playoffs which are well underway.

  • Fortnite’s Chains of Hades has a secret hidden ability only a few know about – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Chains of Hades has a secret hidden ability only a few know about Epic GamesFortnite players have found a hidden ability in the Chains of Hades item in Chapter 5 Season 2 that not everyone knows about. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is full of godly weapons inspired by the Greek gods, whether it’s the Thunderbolt of Zeus or Wings of Icarus. The most recent item to be added was Chains of Hades, which yanks players and delivers lethal swing attacks to the enemy. However, now players have found a secret hidden ability with the item that allows you to even snatch enemies out of moving vehicles. One such player was stunned when they yanked an enemy from a moving car in a Fortnite match and shared the incident on social media. The player ended up eliminating the enemy after they “yoinked” them out of the car with their Mythic Gatekeeper Shotgun. “I love that. Is it designed to yank people from their car every single time, or do you have to get lucky?” asked one curious player. “I believe it’s a specific spot because I’ve been yanked out of a car by my own passenger while they were playing with the chain,” answered another. A third person wrote, “I love how people are slowly realizing the chains’ potential. Been doing this since the chains dropped.” A fourth user offered a tip and replied, “In the Floor is Lava, Balloons, and Chains of Hades is a good early game combo. You can repeatedly yank people up before they can shoot at you.” Chains of Hades can easily be found as floor lot or inside Loot Chests, Underworld and Olympus Chests, Supply Drops, or Buried Chests across the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 island. The item is of Epic rarity and deals some lethal damage to mid and close-range players.

  • Fortnite’s Captain America Shield has a surprising counter you should know – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Captain America Shield has a surprising counter you should know DexertoIf you’re one of the many struggling to fight against Fortnite players using the Captain America Shield, you’re not alone. Fortunately, there’s a method to countering the shield that you should know about before hopping into your next game. The Absolute Doom event in Chapter 5 Season 4 of Fortnite brought along Marvel-themed skins and items, one of which was the Captain America Shield Mythic. Players can use the shield to protect themselves while also tossing it at far-away enemies for impressive damage. Having the shield for yourself is great, but going against a player with this Mythic is incredibly annoying. It’s difficult to deal any damage when players are blocking with it, and it’s nearly impossible to dodge the shield when it’s thrown at you. To ensure that your next Fortnite encounter against a foe using the Captain America Shield goes smoothly, there’s an easy counter method for you to break the enemy’s shield and take them down. How to counter Captain America’s Shield in Fortnite Propsering, a popular Fortnite player, made an Instagram post sharing a simple way to win against this Vibranium shield. Once you understand the basics of this technique, you can copy it for your own Fortnite games. To easily counter the Captain America Shield in Fortnite, you’ll want to follow these steps: Create distance between you and the enemy with the shield. – Spam the shield with an Automatic AR. – Once the shield breaks, defeat the enemy. – Once you keep some distance between you and your enemy using any mobility you can (such as the War Machine Hover Jets), spam the shield with an Automatic AR. Prospering started the attack using a Shotgun, which is also great for heavy damage against it. After a few hits, the shield-bearer should get frazzled, and you’ll break the shield in no time. Even if the enemy throws the shield at you instead of blocking, this leaves them vulnerable to body damage. Now that you know the best counter method against Captain America’s Shield, keep an eye out for the special chest spawn locations to get mythics of your own. Also, you can find out ways to level up fast this season.

  • Fortnite’s center island is slowly turning to gold ahead of Season 2 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s center island is slowly turning to gold ahead of Season 2 Epic GamesAs we approach the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2’s second season, some objects on the map are shifting to gold. On February 16, our first teaser for the upcoming season was released in a series of messages found across the world. The very next day, Epic Games released three different teasers that doubled down on the gold theme that players already suspected. With the season beginning on February 20, the developers don’t have much time left to get an in-game event started if they plan on going down that route. Players started to notice the island’s center island begin to change soon after these teasers started happening. It’s been a slow shift, but some objects have begun turning to gold. Reddit user HeyStan discovered that a filing cabinet on the island had changed while the rest of the room remained untouched. Fortnite leaker HYPEX also rounded up several screenshots from other players that had examples of more golden items. One thing was in common there, and it’s that all of them are located on the center island surrounded by water. The Gold started to appear in the map, at this point i’m convinced we are getting Gold Materials next Season.. [Pics via: @OrangeGuy_YT, @ImEntoYT, @fishyydafish] pic.twitter.com/SFH6wr2lij — HYPEX (@HYPEX) February 16, 2020 What does it all mean? The gold objects are harvestable, but instead of being given a special material, players are just given metal. This revelation certainly makes it seem less likely that Epic will be introducing gold as a building material, but there’s still currently no way to know for sure until the season actually launches. While we know the theme will revolve around gold, there’s not really a ton of info out there about what exactly that means. The teasers still have a few more redacted lines that have to be revealed, so perhaps they could shed some more light on what Epic have in store. Previous seasons had a lot of lore behind them, but Chapter 2’s first season has felt a tad disconnected from previous storylines. The developers look like they plan on ramping things up again going forward. Season 2 kicks off on February 20.

  • Fortnite’s BRUTE Mechs have been disabled again – Dexerto

Fortnite’s BRUTE Mechs have been disabled again Epic GamesDevelopers Fortnite Battle Royale, and not for the first time. The BRUTE robot suits have been one of the most controversial additions to Fortnite in its first 10 seasons, rivaling other divisive items such as the Infinity Sword and Ballers. However, after an issue was revealed to be plaguing the terrorizing vehicles, players may have a brief respite, at least for the time being. On September 10, Epic Games announced that they had again been forced to temporarily removed BRUTEs from all playlists, competitive and casual, but did not share the reason behind the removal. Read more: Bugha takes over LA Gladiators HQ – “The B.R.U.T.E. has been temporarily disabled from all playlists while we resolve an issue,” Epic tweeted. “We will provide an update when we have more information.” The B.R.U.T.E. has been temporarily disabled from all playlists while we resolve an issue. We will provide an update when we have more information.— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) September 11, 2019 There has been no confirmed cause of the issues from Epic, and no timetable has been offered suggesting when the robots will be added back into the game. Last time the Mechs were temporarily canned was due to an issue with their powerful air stomp attack, and even when they were initially enabled again, Epic opted to not have them in the competitive modes until they were 100% good to go. The removal should make pro players and streamers alike happy, as they have demanded for the hulking vehicles be removed from the game ever since the start of Season X. Epic partially listened, nerfing the mechs late in August but did not remove them from the game. Now an issue with them has seen the developers forced to pull the plug on them completely, at least for now. Hold tight for more news from Epic on what may be causing problems behind the scenes for the mechs this time. If this temporary removal is anything like last time, BRUTE Mechs will be back in games soon enough, for better or for worse.

  • Fortnite’s brand new Foraged Campfire is coming soon – Dexerto

Fortnite’s brand new Foraged Campfire is coming soon PC GamerEpic Games will soon be adding the Foraged Campfire to Fortnite, allowing players to heal up in a very different way. The change, which was first announced on January 23 by EpicRook on Reddit, has been confirmed to be an upcoming playable feature in the game and will be available as part of the upcoming v7.30 Content Update. This will give players the chance to interact with existing campfires that are dotted around the map and use them in the same way as the Cozy Campfire to heal up. Campfires all around the Fortnite Battle Royale map can now be used for healing! This will be just one of the many changes made to Fortnite in the v7.30 Content Update and it’ll give players even more healing opportunities, which should prevent shortages of healing items from occurring in the future. Many gamers were quick to share their delight about the change on social media, after spotting the Foraged Campfire’s status on the in-game feed had changed from “coming soon” to available. However, that seems to have been a mistake by the developer and it’s since been changed back – meaning that it wasn’t quite ready to play, despite brief excitement from fans. Instead, it’s set to be added with the v7.30 content update according to a tweet from Fortnite’s official Twitter account. Gather around… get cozy around campfires in the v7.30 Content Update. :fire: Available tomorrow, February 5 at 8 AM ET(1300 UTC). There will be no downtime. pic.twitter.com/paYFEniI68 — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 4, 2019 Another item which is coming soon to Fortnite is the Bottle Rocket. Unlike the new campfires, we don’t know a lot about how this new rocket launcher will work, however, it does look very similar to the turrets found in Fortnite already. • Fortnite’s “broken combo” shreds enemies in Chapter 5 Season 4 – Dexerto

Fortnite’s “broken combo” shreds enemies in Chapter 5 Season 4 epic gamesFortnite players are combining these weapons to get the most out of the Chapter 5 Season 4 experience in the game. The meta in Fortnite is always changing, thanks to the game’s rotating loot pool every season. Last season, players went through a deadly vehicle meta nobody saw coming. With Mythic Cars and Vehicle Mods now gone, however, a new combo has arisen in Chapter 5 Season 4. By now, it’s already clear that Captain America’s Shield has been deemed “broken as hell” by players to the point many wanted this to get nerfed immediately. As it turns out, with the addition of other items, this can even be more deadly – as one player had showcased in a Reddit thread. In a clip they shared, the player managed to shred through their enemies by rocking Captain America’s Shield, War Machine’s Auto Turret, and War Machine’s Hover Jets simultaneously. For the uninitiated, while Captain America’s Shield deals a lot of damage, you can’t use it to block incoming damage while shooting at your enemies at the same time. However, this is an exception with the War Machine’s Auto Turret. The turret doesn’t require you to switch your weapon to it to use it as it automatically fires at nearby enemies within range. So, when combined with Captain America’s Shield, not only do you get to protect yourself while chipping the enemies’ health with the turret, but you can also choose to deal additional damage by throwing the shield at them, making it a devastating combo. In addition, with the jetpack, the player could essentially fire bullets at their enemies while hovering in the air. To add to their survivability, they also had a Flowberry Fizz to get that extra low gravity effect while flying. Following this clip, one user wrote in the comments: “Auto turret + shield is the broken combo right now. My default loadout is a longer-range weapon, shield, auto turret, jetpack, and heals.” “Got to play one game last night after the kid was in bed. Got a cap shield first chest and was absolutely mowing fools down with it. Crushing hotel builders like in this video. Then I ran into someone else with the shield, and that was that,” another mentioned. For now, this combo is one way to help you secure Victory Royale in Fortnite so you can get the free Victory Umbrella.

  • Fortnite’s Avatar update inadvertently brings back one of the greatest battle royales ever made – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Avatar update inadvertently brings back one of the greatest battle royales ever made ProletariatEven if it has a fraction of Spellbreak’s depth and creativity, Fortnite’s latest update invokes the days of old, when wizards/witches donned gauntlets to sling magical abilities at their foes in the arena. Since 2017, many battle royales have come and gone, trying to cater to any audience Fortnite couldn’t reach. While some have managed to fill a niche — Apex Legends and Warzone — it’s been a challenge for smaller, more unique titles to stand tall, especially if there’s no legacy tie like Apex Legends with Titanfall or Warzone and Call of Duty. Fortnite’s latest season introduces Greek mythology to the game and a crossover with the iconic Avatar: The Last Airbender. The latter crossover brings cosmetics and Elemental Bending tools to dominate the opposition. Something feels familiar about it all, and not because Nickelodeon did it years ago in a televised series. It’s because someone else did the same exact thing years ago, and that someone was Proletariat with their one-hit wonder, Spellbreak. Released in 2020, Spellbreak was yet another battle royale title hidden in Fortnite’s shadow, as this era saw the birth (and subsequent death) of many battle royale titles. However, this one had a unique spin to it: Players were wizards or witches who used magical gauntlets capable of channeling elemental spells such as fire, wind, and earth for combat purposes. Defeat the opposition, and you were crowned victor, provided you could defeat the waves of wizards and witches hurling everything and the kitchen sink at you. Its chaotic nature was reminiscent of the arena shooters of old, such as Unreal Tournament, with this genre heavily influencing Spellbreak’s feel and zany nature. In an industry where many devs have resorted to following trends and playing it safe with big AAA releases, Spellbreak felt different. It felt fresh. The tangible way in which players wielded the elements hasn’t been matched. Hurl boulders at your foes to send them flying, use wind for faster movement, or even channel your inner Frozone for icy slides with an ice gauntlet. Not only did players have the elements at their disposal, these elements interacted with each other. Set a boulder on fire to get bonus damage, or melt an opponent’s ice to counter their defenses. This game took what Avatar’s bending Mythics have to the next level and created a complex and dense metagame around it. Spellbreak was ahead of its time. After garnering some success after its 2020 launch, Spellbreak looked to find a niche for itself. While magic may not appeal to others like the standard battle royale grit and grime, the loop felt solid enough to keep the lights on for some time. However, that’s not the timeline we live in. The unfortunate reality of battle royale games is that they need a thriving player base to stay alive long-term, and the death of Spellbreak came partially from a lack of content updates combined with a waning player base that led to devs loading matches with bots when things got dire. Proletariat was acquired by Activision Blizzard in 2023, which saw the end of Spellbreak and any support moving forward. But, even with Avatar’s bending having a fraction of the depth Spellbreak’s had, it’s hard not to see the similarities between the two. Chances are, we may never get something like Spellbreak again unless Fortnite players recreate it in Creative Mode. However, here’s hoping some Fortnite player out there thinks just that and takes up the magical gauntlet one more time.

  • Fortnite’s Back Bling Physics Have Been Removed to fix a bug – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Back Bling Physics Have Been Removed to fix a bug Your Back Bling might look a little less interesting next time you start Fortnite. In order to temporarily fix a bug that was causing game crashes, Epic has had to remove the physics off of all cloth Back Blings. If a player wore a cloth Back Bling, the ones that look similar to capes, with the new Beef Boss skin, the game would crash. Epic took to reddit to advise users of wearing the combination until a fix could be found. Users could log into the mobile app to change their outfit if they were wearing the unfortunate combination. The bug was not able to be quickly fixed however, forcing Epic to remove physics from all of the cloth made Back Blings. The fix is only temporary and will prevent the game from crashing. Fortnite players can now equip any cloth bling they want with the Beef Boss skin, or log back in without worrying about the game crashing. Epic does not have a timetable for the bug fix, but as soon as it is resolved your cloth Back Bling will return with all of its glorious physics. The Back Bling is not the only glitch currently appearing in the game that is still technically a beta, the Drum Gun is not dealing any damage to players or structures. Week 5 of Season 5 is currently underway and you can use our guide to help complete the challenges, though you may want to avoid the lifeless cloth Back Blings and the Drum Gun.

  • Fortnite’s Automatic Sniper Rifle looks insanely powerful from first footage – Dexerto

Fortnite’s Automatic Sniper Rifle looks insanely powerful from first footage Epic GamesA brand new Automatic Sniper Rifle has landed in Fortnite and with footage of the weapon surfacing online already, there’s no doubt that the first patch of Season 10 has included a potential game-changer. Epic Games revealed their v10.00 content update on August 6, confirming previous leaks and speculation involving a brand new long-range gun coming soon to the game. Now, it’s available to play with. Players can find it in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants all over the game’s battle royale map, and it looks a lot more effective than some of the other snipers that have been released in the past. For those who aren’t aware, it deals a base damage of 31/33/35, with headshots set to take 66/66/70 health – depending on what variant of it you’re able to find. From first footage though, just because of the sheer speed that this new sniper can roll through mags it looks like it will be much more popular than its semi-auto predecessors and a mainstay in some players’ load-outs for sure. The video below, posted to YouTube by Galaxy Tech Review, shows just how effective it can be in combat. Professional players and streamers are always quick to share their opinions on the new update, sometimes even the weapons that are included in the patch, yet this time most are talking about the new Tilted Town location – where players can’t actually build anymore. Twitch streamer Brett ‘dakotaz’ Hoffman did take a moment to give his verdict, though. He simply tweeted: “The new sniper is absolutely nuts!” The addition to the weapons list appears to have went down with a generally positive response from the fanbase, which is something that can’t be said for a number of features that have been added since the game first launched in September 2017. Whether or not you’re a fan of the powerful automatic gun or not, it’s fair to say that something a bit stronger than the previous semi-auto sniper models was definitely needed. After all, they’ve all been sent to the vault at some time or another.

  • Fortnite’s A.I.M skin could be hinting at a Winter Theme coming – Dexerto

Fortnite’s A.I.M skin could be hinting at a Winter Theme coming The new A.I.M skin in Fortnite, unlocked through the Hunting Party challenges, could be big hint towards a wintery makeover coming to the battle royale map soon. Although nothing has been made official yet, fans are predicting that there will be some snowy additions to the map and lobby screen, if not entirely at least partially. During November and December in 2017, only the lobby screen changed, and there was some new cosmetic items added, but no major map changes. The A.I.M skin, which came with a legendary back bling and a pickaxe only available from the Item Shop, could be the biggest clue yet indicating a winter theme. Players have began to notice that the edges of the skins arms and legs appear to be somewhat icy, hinting that the skin itself came from a wintery land. In the image below, courtesy of FortniteINTEL, you can clearly see frosting around the edges of the A.I.M skin. called into question the leaks suggesting an aerial vehicle was set to be added. As for the potential of a wintery theme coming to the map itself, A.I.M is the only real clue so far, but Save the World mode did get a snowy makeover in 2017, so the possibility is definitely real.

  • Fortnite’s aim assist fix actually made it worse – Epic Games revert changes – Dexerto

Fortnite’s aim assist fix actually made it worse – Epic Games revert changes Epic GamesEpic Games have decided to reverse the changes made to controller aim assist in Fortnite‘s most recent content update, after many fans were frustrated by the so-called ‘fix’. The v7.40 update, which went live in Fortnite on February 14 following some delays, was supposed to tackle a terrible ADS bug that console players had been experiencing. However, many members of the game’s online community have since complained about the ‘snap-to’ fix, posting to the Fortnite BR subreddit about how guns no longer felt the same. Fortnite’s community coordinator Sean Hamilton, who goes by MrPopoTFS on Reddit, quickly noticed the outrage on Reddit and issued an official statement on the matter. “We wanted to thank you all for the quick feedback regarding this attempted bug fix,” Hamilton posted to the Fortnite subreddit. “The goal for this change was to resolve an issue while keeping the same “aim assist” feel. We obviously missed the mark on this,” he explained. It seems to be back to the drawing board for Epic Games, as they’ve reversed the change and are looking for another solution. Nevertheless, other fixes in the v7.40 content update – such as those for X-4 Stormwing planes and Hand Cannons – seem to be running smoothly up to now.

  • Fortnite’s 180 turn building strategy has a new method – Dexerto

Fortnite’s 180 turn building strategy has a new method A clever Redditor has found an ingenious way to perform the 180 Turn building manoeuvre in Fortnite Battle Royale. The 180 Turn is a popular strategy used by Fortnite players to gain elevation against opponents. It involves building ramps in one direction, then turning around and building them in the opposite way to create a staircase effect. Most players use walls at the top of their ramps to create the point where they intend to turn, but Reddit user ‘BrandonTBC’ has discovered a new approach to the classic strategy, using pyramid structures. By using pyramid structures at the top of ramps, BrandonTBC was able to edit the pyramid into a ramp facing the other direction, jump off the side of the existing ramp and then place a new piece beside the existing edited pyramid. This version of the 180 turn is an extremely quick way to gain height on enemies during build battles, but the speed of building does come at a structural cost. With the entire construction being supported by one wooden ramp at the bottom, a player who spots your build could shoot out the base piece, and bring the whole thing crashing down. Fortnite players are constantly looking for new ways to improve their skills, and building quickly is an integral skill that players need to master to be successful. Recently, popular YouTuber Beaks uploaded a video showing the perfect way to perform 90 degree turns while building. The video has been watched over 318,000 times, with Fortnite fanatics looking for any advantage they can get over their opponents. With the Week 10 challenges for Fortnite’s Season 5 expected to go live in the next few days, now is a great time to jump into Playground mode and start practising building strategies.

  • Fortnitemares Halloween challenges and rewards – Dexerto

  • Fortnitemares map changes – Storm King, Haunted Forest, more – Dexerto

Fortnitemares map changes – Storm King, Haunted Forest, more The Fortnite Chapter 2 finally dropped what fans had been waiting a seriously long time for – a brand new map. The new setting has kept a few familiar spots like Pleasant Park, Retail Row, and Salty Springs, but it is pretty different overall. Even though Epic Games had released a patch previous to v11.10 update, they hadn’t thrown in any map changes like previous seasons, most notably Season 10, where they threw in regular updates with the Rift Zones. However, this patch has delivered the biggest map shakeup to-date in Chapter 2, with a number of locations being tweaked for Halloween. Fortnitemares Storm King location One confirmed change that fans noticed almost right away, after downtime for the new update concluded, is that the island in the middle of the map has now turned purple. This is where players will be tasked with fighting the Storm King, a mission that very much shapes the challenges and subsequent rewards that were set live shortly after the patch was rolled out. • Fortnitemares chest locations: Ghost Town, Spooky Farm, Haunted Forest – Dexerto

Fortnitemares chest locations: Ghost Town, Spooky Farm, Haunted Forest v11.10 content update on October 29, including many features for their annual spooky event, and several points of interest have been given a new look. The fresh set of Fortnitemares challenges have been revealed ahead of schedule by data miners, but one thing that has been confirmed that the Storm King will be part of the event – a powerful monster that is looking to destroy the Battle Royale map. Not only will fans be tasked with the challenge of taking down the Storm King, however, but there are three spots on the island that they will also need to visit, as we mentioned earlier. While their names might be large hints about where to find them, let’s take a look at the precise locations of Ghost Town, Spooky Farm and Haunted Forest. Fortnite Ghost Town location Let’s start off by showing you potentially the trickiest one to find from these challenges. Ghost Town, by its name alone, could be referring to a number of different landing spots. It could be Retail Row, Misty Meadows… Anywhere! However, it’s actually not a named location at all. Based in the Northeast corner of the map, Ghost Town could well be somewhere you haven’t visited just yet. You’re going to have to land there and open at least one chest for Fortnitemares challenges, though. Fortnite Spooky Farm location There are some new surprises waiting to be discovered at the Frenzy Farm location, which has been renamed Spooky Farm – at least in these challenges. Fortnite Haunted Forest location Fornite has always had at least one location on the map almost entirely covered with trees and just like it has in the past, its latest forest point of interest – Weeping Woods – has been given a scary twist. The buildings might look fairly similar to what we’ve come to expect from them, but it’s fair to say that they now resemble haunted houses. Open one chest here for Fortnitemares challenges and watch out for players. You probably won’t be alone. For more precise locations, we’ve signposted each spot on the island for you – as seen with the map below. All you have to do when you get there is search through at least one chest at each of them. Once that’s done, you will have ticked off the challenge and can move onto some of the others. We also have a full list of chest locations for the Fortnite Chapter 2 map to help you out, showing your chances of finding one at these places. For more details on the full list of missions and rewards for completing them, check out our helpful Fortnitemares challenge guide here. Good luck!

  • Fortnitemares “Broom Box” item leaked for Halloween update – Dexerto

Fortnitemares “Broom Box” item leaked for Halloween update Epic GamesFortnite leakers have revealed a new mobility item called the “Broom Box” that could be the next feature added in Season 4, ahead of the upcoming Fortnitemares Halloween event. Fortnite has introduced plenty of unusual vehicles and other methods for players to get around the map, with the likes of ziplines, rifts, and more making their appearances in previous seasons. However, another mode of transport could be on the way, with leaks now pointing to a new mobility item being added in the upcoming Fortnitemares update for Halloween. Many of the changes made so far in Season 4 have been based around the Marvel characters and their unique abilities but, as Halloween is drawing closer, Epic Games are gearing up for the Fortnitemares event. While little has been confirmed about the update, Fortnite leaker HYPEX has revealed that there is potential for a new “Broom Box” mobility item in the event after finding codenames in the game files. The prominent leaker claimed that these brooms would be classed as a consumable, meaning that players might only have a limited time to fly on them compared to previous items like the hoverboard. • Fortnitemares 2018 start and end dates have been revealed – Dexerto

Fortnitemares 2018 start and end dates have been revealed After days of teasing the upcoming event, the start and end date of the Fortnitemares event has finally been revealed. Every day since Saturday, October 20, Epic Games have been releasing cryptic teasers pointing towards a new Halloween event that will hit the game soon. The teasers have featured pictures and stanzas to a poem that seemed to be forming a puzzle made up of four pieces that, when finished, would paint a full picture of the event. While Epic Games has yet to release the fourth and final teaser along with the starting dates, a PlayStation event seems to have leaked both the start and end dates of the event. Epic Games tease Fortnitemares event in Fortnite Battle Royale for HalloweenThe event details further provide that “Spooky rewards await those who complete the new Fortnitemare Challenges.” While there was no official Halloween event back in 2017 when Fortnite Battle Royale was first released, Epic Games released a set of Halloween skins that quickly became the rarest in the game. They also made many changes to the game, including rocket launchers that shot pumpkins and a Halloween-themed menu screen. There’s no word yet on what skins or other rewards will be available this time around, but given Epic’s track record with holiday-themed skins and the build-up to this event, fans are expecting something amazing. While we await the final piece of the puzzle that’s expected to hit on October 23, you can read the three stanzas of the poem that have been released thus far: Costumes and dancing, Partner up, be wise. They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise. Tombstones quake, Keep you fingers steady. The circle will close, Better be ready. Take the shot, If you have enough to last. The wind calls out, “Fill your chambers, fast.”
