  • Every Fortnite Season 6 vaulted and unvaulted weapon – Dexerto

Every Fortnite Season 6 vaulted and unvaulted weapon Epic GamesFortnite Season 6 has brought plenty of changes to the game, but one of the most impactful is that of the vaulted and unvaluted weapon pool. Fortnite’s massive Season 6 update is finally live, bringing with it a new Primal theme, tameable wolves, craftable weapons, and Lara Croft and Neymar Jr. crossover skins. There are also the usual Island changes and bugfixes that aim to improve the gameplay experience in Season 6. While many Fortnite players will be busy getting to grips with the new craftable weapon system, there have been a number of iconic guns that have been vaulted. Just like every season, Epic has locked away some of the game’s current loot pool. Obviously, this can come as a surprise, especially if your favorite weapon has been sent to the Shadow Realm. While the weapons below will undoubtedly make a reappearance at some point in the future, you won’t be able to use them in Fortnite Season 6. All vaulted weapons in Fortnite Season 6 Vaulted weapons are those that have been locked away from the current weapon rotation, meaning you won’t find them when looting in Season 6. While this mighty collection may be sealed, they may one day make a reappearance. • Fortnite’s earthquake event is underway – Every crack location, leaks and more [UPDATING] – Dexerto

Fortnite’s earthquake event is underway – Every crack location, leaks and more [UPDATING] Season 7 of Fortnite is rapidly coming to an end, and fans of the game are getting an early glimpse at what will be the major event to kick off Season 8 – a massive earthquake that has already begun to tear open the game’s map. Data miners found files in the game’s update files which signal that an earthquake is coming to Fortnite, with leaks from the February 14 update suggesting that the event titled ‘Cracken’ will do some serious damage to Tilted Towers. Season 8 is expected to go live on Thursday, February 28, and Fortnite players have already begun to feel tremors shaking the island during matches. Things took an unexpected turn on February 14 though, when massive cracks began to appear in on the map. When one of the many tremors that have rocked Fortnite hit, players thought nothing of it, chalking down as part of the upcoming event and nothing more. On closer inspection though, a massive crack has appeared on a small hill southwest of Tomato Temple. It is several meters long, and winds around the top of the hill, with many suggesting that it may open further as time goes on. Live footage from the earthquake/crack formation #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/Z9X9pK7qiw — Fortnite News | LootLake.net (@LootLakeBR) February 14, 2019 A second crack then appeared a few hours later, this time to the west of Tomato Temple. Situated between the temple and Lazy Links, this second crack is much larger than the first one, and splinters off in two different directions. Just hours later, two more opened up, this time directly beside Lazy Links, directly west of the second crack. Unsurprisingly, more cracks have continued to appear across the Fortnite island, with a huge crack appearing to the North of Dusty Diner, directly beside the first crack that was spotted when the tremors began. A fifth crack has appeared north of Dusty Diner, right next to crack #1 #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/bj2eeQ7n2v — Fortnite News | LootLake.net (@LootLakeBR) February 16, 2019 Another crack then appeared beside Dusty Diner, this time to the northeast of the diner. Cracks have also started to appear at The Block, an area in the north-eastern corner of the map which showcases player-built creations for a limited time inside the game. Salty Springs has become the latest area to be hit by earthquakes, with a massive crack opening up directly beside one the tower that overlooks the location. Wailing Woods has been affected by another tremor, with a huge crack forming on a hill directly south of the forest. The bridge between Lazy Links and The Block has also been hit by another tremor, this time destroying the bridge. Another crack has also opened up near Loot Lake, beside the destroyed Battle Bus which crashed into the ground. While many thought that the cracks could be related to Tomato Temple due to the location of the first two openings, the openings at Lazy Links seem to have cast doubts over that theory. It’s likely that more cracks will continue to open up as we get closer to Season 8, and we’ll be sure to keep updating this post as new ones appear. Updated: February 15 The timetable for each and every scheduled crack for Fortnite’s earthquake seem to have been leaked by Twitter users Lucas7Yoshi and Im_Rubic. The pair, who have been monitoring the in-game event closely since it started, have revealed a schedule which suggested that the entire landscape will soon look very different to what we’ve come to expect. After inputting the data here are the results: pic.twitter.com/ZJlfZCJ0WI — Chris (@Im_Rubic) February 14, 2019 Whether or not this timetable is accurate remains to be seen, as there has been no official word on the earthquake from the developer as of yet. The Fortnite map seems to be undergoing some major changes right now, though, as we look towards the game’s newest season. We’ll continue to update this article with any more updates as and when we get them.

  • Every Fortnite Season 2 map change revealed – Dexerto

Every Fortnite Season 2 map change revealed Epic GamesFortnite Chapter 2, Season 2 is finally here and Epic Games have made a host of changes to the game’s map following the 12.00 update on Thursday, February 20. After the game’s longest season ever, Epic Games launched their ‘Top Secret’ new season, based around a group of secret agents who are sure to play a major role in the future of the game. Also included in the patch is As always, Epic Games have made a number of major changes to the battle royale map with the introduction of Season 2, with plenty of new locations to explore, including a yacht, and some secret bases for the new agents who have taken over the Fortnite island. You can view the Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2 map below. A number of areas have received a revamp, including the middle island which has a large base on it, an underground helipad on the east coast of the map, and a structure that has appeared off the south-west coast near Slurpy Swamp. Fortnite Season 2 map changes Helicopter Pad One of the most interesting new additions to the Fortnite map is an underground helicopter pad that has been constructed on the east coast of the island. A massive hole has opened up in the ground, with players able to jump down and explore the new location, complete with water in the bottom, and a building where the vehicle can land. Whether helicopters are actually in the new update remains to be seen. Oil Rig An Oil Rig has also appeared on the south-west side of the map, sitting just off the edge of the map close to Slurpy Swamp. The location is made up of two joined platforms, with a bridge connecting the two, and massive cranes on either side. Yacht A yacht has also appeared in the water, allowing players to land here and investigate the luxury boat while taking down enemies on the high seas. Shark Building There’s also a new building on the cluster of islands in the top-left corner of the map, with a modern home appearing alongside a massive shark head that’s been carved out of rock. New locations and changes are constantly being discovered, and we’ll continue to update this article as they become available.

Here’s a full list. On August 7, Fortnite announced major adjustments to its Battle Pass cosmetic item exclusivity. According to the modifications, future Battle Pass cosmetic items will no longer be limited to the pass and may become available in the Item Shop after 18 months from the pass’ expiration date. • Every Fortnite Chapter 2 weapon balancing change revealed – Dexerto

Every Fortnite Chapter 2 weapon balancing change revealed Fortnite Chapter 2 arrived almost a month ago, but with no patch notes released by Epic Games, a player has taken matters into their own hands and released every weapon balancing change in the major update. Tuesday, October 15 marked one of the biggest days in Fortnite history, when the game moved into Chapter 2, which introduced a brand-new map and a host of changes to the popular battle royale title. One thing that was missing, however, were patch notes detailing these changes and even though there have been numerous updates since, Epic Games have yet to release a conclusive list of changes for fans to read. With Fortnite fans frustrated with the lack of these notes, Reddit user Tornorr has taken matters into their own hands, testing the game and its weapons to create their own list of balancing changes in the absence of official word from Epic Games. The Pistol has apparently received a 4% damage increase across all three rarities, while the Pump Shotgun’s damage has been reduced by up to 16% in the Uncommon variety. The Compact SMG’s clip size has been decreased by 25%, but the weapon is now 42% quicker to reload. Rocket Launchers have seemingly also seen some changes, with the Rare version’s damage turned down by 9%, while the Epic rarity is down 1%. The Epic is now an even more dangerous weapon, with an 8% damage buff and a reload speed decrease of 23%. You can view the full stats below. While Tornorr has gathered these statistics, they may not be 100% accurate, and unless Epic finally release some patch notes, we’ll never know the exact changes that the developers have made to the weapons. The company behind the blockbuster battle royale game has yet to explain the reason that they are no longer releasing patch notes, but fans remain hopeful that this decision will be reversed as Chapter 2, Season 1 continues.

  • Every Doorbell location on the Fortnite map for Week 4 challenge in Season 6 – Dexerto

Every Doorbell location on the Fortnite map for Week 4 challenge in Season 6 There is a brand new challenge in Fortnite for Week 4 or Season 6, as Epic Games tasks players with going trick or treating, in keeping with the ongoing Halloween theme. For the challenge, you will need to ring the doorbell of a house while there is an opponent inside. So clearly, step one of this task will require you to know where to find these doorbells in the first place, and then hope you can come across an opponent cowering inside. To make this easier, and save you endlessly running round the map to find every house with a doorbell, this handy map will show you everywhere you can find them. Obviously most doorbells will be concentrated in the busy neighborhood like areas, such as Pleasant Park, Salty Springs and Greasy Grove. But, you might be surprised to find that there are in fact plenty of other more remote locations where you will come across doorbells too, as you can see in the map below, courtesy of FortniteMaster. Epic Games are asking for massive amounts of money for Fortnite World Cup sponsorshipYou will need to do this three times, and you can only ring one doorbell per match, so you’ll need a minimum of three games to complete the challenge. FortniteMaster also helpfully provide a video of a doorbell being used in game, so you can make sure you are definitely doing it correctly. You can find the full list of challenges for Week 4, and full guides to complete them on our challenge hub.

  • Every change made to Fortnite map in v7.20 update – Polar Peak, Tilted Towers, and more – Dexerto

Every change made to Fortnite map in v7.20 update – Polar Peak, Tilted Towers, and more The v7.20 update in Fortnite Battle Royale has been the biggest of Season 7 so far and has introduced some noticeable changes to the map. Immediately after v7.20 went live on January 15, players noticed that there were several significant changes made to certain locations on the map like Polar Peak, Tilted Towers, Paradise Palms, and more. The map has been constantly evolving since the start of Season 7, although there hadn’t been any major changes made over the past few weeks as there hadn’t been any game updates over the holiday period. Snow Biome An iceberg located on the snowy corner of the map began rapidly decreasing in health once the update went live, and it eventually melted and cracked to reveal a secret bunker door. Much like its counterpart that’s been in Wailing Woods for a while now, this bunker door is sealed and indestructible, so there is no way to get inside. In-Game Footage of the Bunker Reveal after the IceBerg Destruction #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/tZ5AUmHzV8 — Fortnite News :snowflake:️ (@FNBRHQ) January 15, 2019 Polar Peak Polar Peak has seen a host of changes since it was first added to the map at the start of Season 7 and this update is no exception. More of the snow and ice around the castle has melted to make lower levels accessible to players, and the mysterious Dragon Eggs are more noticeable than ever. In addition, there is a large ice sphere floating straight above the peak of the mountain, with some theorizing that it could relate to the leaked Ice Storm in-game event (More info soon) Tilted Towers The broken down central building in Tilted Towers continues to get closer and closer to taking its final shape as the reconstruction appears to be almost fully complete. Having been subjected to periodic destruction in the past, it’s hard to tell how long this unlucky building will remain standing. Desert Biome A diner located near Paradise Palms on the desert biome has been replaced by a new ice cream shop called SoFDeeZ. This change appears to be purely cosmetic and should not really affect players’ gameplay near the area. Wailing Woods A new giant rock formation has appeared near Wailing Woods and it appears to be the female counterpart of the male golem that’s been on the map for quite a while now. Whether or not this new female golem will start moving around the map like the male version remains to be seen. Did we miss any Fortnite map changes that you may have noticed? • Every confirmed duo for the IEM Katowice Royale $500,000 Fortnite tournament – Dexerto

Every confirmed duo for the IEM Katowice Royale $500,000 Fortnite tournament ESL / Epic GamesFortnite‘s IEM Katowice Royale 2019 kicks off on March 1-3 and finally ESL has confirmed the full lineup of duos that are set to take part in the $500,000 tournament. Fortnite’s esport hype train was at full speed when prominent organizers ESL and Epic Games partnered to bring Fortnite to Katowice, and the anticipation is sure to increase as the organizers have released the roster of competitors thus far. Big names such as Team Liquid’s Thomas ‘72hrs’ Mulligan, Ryan ‘Chap’ Chaplo and Team Vitality’s Klaivert ‘Teeqzy’ Dervishi with duo Johann ‘Mushway’ Cyr are set to join the fray. Those players comprise only three of the 35 duos set for Poland, totalling 70 players at the time of writing. A welcomed sight to see lies in the diversity of competition, as the 70 players come from more than 15 different nationalities. This is in stark contrast to the Secret Skirmish who had a striking amount of players come from North America, prompting massive criticism toward the event. • Even Zlatan Ibrahimovic hates the Fortnite v8.2 update – Dexerto

Even Zlatan Ibrahimovic hates the Fortnite v8.2 update Zlatan Ibrahimovic/Epic GamesSoccer superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joined the increasing calls for Epic Games to reverse the Fortnite v8.20 update, which was brought in on March 27. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is best known for his talents on a soccer field, currently playing for MLS outfit LA Galaxy. He has previously proven his talents at the highest levels of the game, winning the French Ligue 1 in four consecutive seasons with Paris Saint-Germain, and most recently winning the Europa League with Manchester United in 2018. Now, though, he has shared his thoughts with the gaming community in relation to the most recent major Fortnite update. On March 29, to his 5.6 million Twitter followers, he simply tweeted: “Zlatan says revert”. The phrasing of the tweet, in third person, is normal to Zlatan followers as he regularly refers to himself like that. It joins wider community complaints with the v8.20 update, which saw major changes to in-game mechanics in Fortnite’s casual modes. The update reversed changes that were made during Fortnite Season 7, which saw players given a 50 HP bonus after eliminating an opponent, a 40% increase in farming rate and a minimum of 50 of each material dropped after elimination. It has been perceived as further efforts from developers Epic Games to make the game more friendly to beginners, as the health bonus encouraged a more aggressive play style and rewarded players who were successful at eliminating opponents. Zlatan joins Courage, Daequan and Ninja as prominent figures who have criticised the update. At the time of writing, Zlatan’s tweet has over 10,000 retweets and 30,000 likes, highlighting the extent to which the community agrees with him. FaZe Clan’s Jev saw the funny side of the tweet, replying with: “Dude, even Ibra says fuck this shit.” Epic Games are yet to respond to the community backlash over the changes, but they were quick to make alterations when a similar backlash occurred in 2018 over the addition of the Infinity Blade to Fortnite. However, that was merely the removal of an item, not major in-game decisions that affect the mechanics of eliminations. Whatever comes next, it is clear that Zlatan – and many others – want to see changes sooner rather than later.

  • EuroGamer Exposes Daily Mirror Journalist for Actively Seeking Negative Fortnite Stories – Dexerto

EuroGamer Exposes Daily Mirror Journalist for Actively Seeking Negative Fortnite Stories A journalist for the Daily Mirror has been exposed for actively seeking for negative stories about children “addicted” to Fortnite – offering up to £300 in exchange for a scoop. The journalist, Matthew Barbour, had recently been outed on Twitter after running a front page piece titled “Fortnite made me a suicidal drug addict”, exposed for having offered payment in exchange for juicy stories about video game addiction in the past. The Twitter thread gave proof of Barbour offering £100 to anyone willing to share a tale about how Pokemon Go had ruined their life. EuroGamer, Barbour used an agency called ‘ResponseSource’ to find a suitable case, that fits the desired narrative. “Journalists post their case study request on Response Source’s website. This is then connected to news agencies and public relations people who may be able to provide the relevant case studies.” EuroGamer also obtained one of the emails sent by ResponseSource on behalf of Barbour for his front page Fortnite story. In it, he offers £300 for a story of Fortnite addicted child, adding “we need this to be as strong as possible.” 500When EuroGamer reached out to Barbour to ask him various questions about the validity of his story and how he sourced it, he replied “am I being paid to provide these answers?” The counsellor which the Mirror story claims is treating the patients, Steve Pope, did not reply to questions about his role in the story, but has been featured in numerous news outlets and even national television, focusing on video game addiction. He is also credited in another Mirror story which claimed a 9 year old girl was in rehab because she was so addicted to Fortnite, that she would wet herself rather than go to the toilet. While this tale of Fortnite addiction cannot be proven as false, EuroGamer’s findings provide a unique insight into just how some of these tabloid stories come to be.

  • European pros have already broken the Fortnite squad kills world record set by Tfue and Cloak’s team – Dexerto

European pros have already broken the Fortnite squad kills world record set by Tfue and Cloak’s team The ongoing ‘Squad Goals’ trial for Fortnite Battle Royale’s Fall Skirmish series has resulted in the squad kills world record being broken for the third time in less than 24 hours! This time around it was a European squad consisting of Jamal ‘Jamside’ Saidayev, Artur ‘7ssk7’ Kyourshin, Oskar ‘3vil’ Żeljazkow and Mallqui ‘sifflol’ Farinango Klag that were able to best anything that has been seen from their competitors across the pond. Competing for the Bush Bandits club in the Fortnite Fall Skirmish, the European professionals managed to put together an incredible total of 59 eliminations in one match, just shy of the 60 mark that many pros have been chasing. The new record, which builds on the previous best of 57, was shared on Twitter by 7ssk7, a Polish player who competes under the Virtus.Pro banner. For the Fortnite Fall Skirmish, Epic Games introduced a new club system alongside the standard competitions. Players were divided into five clubs and can earn points for them each week through tournaments and trials. The Squad Goals trial will award points to the squad of four that gets the most eliminations in a single match, but the squad kill world record keeps getting broken as the various competitors vye for the top spot! Read More: Sony announce cross-play and cross progression for Fortnite on PS4 with all other platforms – Last night, a new world record of 56 eliminations was set by FaZe Replays, FaZe SpaceLyon, NickEh30 and TurkeyLips, but it stood for just a few hours as FaZe Tfue, FaZe Cloak, Knights ZexRow and Luminosity Gaming’s Kreo came along and went one better to set the bar at 57. Now it’s been broken again, and the next squad to break it will be the first to ever surpass the 60 eliminations threshold. For a full list of all currently held world records in Fortnite, you can view our records hub here. With the speed at which the squad kills record keeps changing, we’d advise you to keep an eye on it.

  • EU Fortnite players angry about North American bias in Secret Skirmish – Dexerto

EU Fortnite players angry about North American bias in Secret Skirmish Competitive Fortnite players residing outside of North America appear to be at a significant disadvantage compared to their counterparts across the Atlantic, as the first Secret Skirmish invitees are revealed. The Secret Skirmish is Epic Games third ‘Skirmish’ series, boasting a $500,000 prize pool, as the final precursor tournament ahead of the Fortnite World Cup later in 2019. Details about the tournament were first announced on January 18, stating that it will include “top players from each Open Fortnite competition held so far.” Beginning on February 14, the tournament will last only two days, unlike the multiple-week series of the Summer and Fall Skirmishes. Despite its short run time though, there is still a massive $500,000 in prize money up for grabs, but the list of invited players (so far) shows very little chance of any player outside of North America winning any of this prize money. Swedish Fortnite pro Svenoss, of NRG Esports, is one player who has been vocal about the lack of non-NA representation at the Secret Skirmish, exclaiming “this right here, is the reason [you] HAVE to live in NA as a Fortnite player.” This is for the secret skirmish btw, based off of placements of previous open qualifiers. where the invites / signups which are first come first serve were sent during the middle of the night in the EU. — Svennoss (@Svenosss) January 22, 2019 He shows a list of invited players via Fortnite esports Gamepedia, which suggests of 95 players confirmed to be invited, only four are not U.S. or Canadian. This is not the final list of all players taking part in the Secret Skirmish of course, as at least 100 players will be required at the minimum for a battle royale tournament, but it does not bode well for players from other regions regardless. The use of only ‘Open Events’ for choosing invitees is also unfortunate for non-NA players, as all Open events thus far have been in the U.S. We can expect to get more details regarding specifics of the Secret Skirmish in the lead up to the event.

  • ESL Fortnite interview goes hilariously wrong with PUBG shout-out – Dexerto

ESL Fortnite interview goes hilariously wrong with PUBG shout-out Twitch: ESL Katowice RoyaleIf you’re going to take part in an interview about Fortnite, at a Fortnite event, it’s probably best to be a fan of the game – however, things don’t always work out that way as one Polish fan demonstrated. Fortnite fans and pro players, with the exception of FaZe Clan’s Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney and Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore, have descended on Katowice, Poland to take part in the ESL Katowice Royale – which has a prize pool of $500,000. However, not everyone in attendance is a fan of the game, despite the fact they might be dressed up as an in-game skin, interviewed live on the broadcast and show off their impressive cosplay. The host, Adam Savage – not to be confused with the Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame – asked one of the members on stage if they played Fortnite and if they were a big fan of the title. Read More: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds,” answered the cosplayer, known only as Alexandra – causing hilarity in the watching Twitch chat and sparking some laughs in the arena. The response caused Savage to trip up on his words, struggling to formulate a response. “Ok, ok, yeah, well, Fortnite,” he muttered before switching to the next cosplayer, where he received a more suitable answer. To follow along with the rest of the ESL Katowice Royale, you can check out our dedicated event hub which includes the full schedule and format for games. However, it’s unlikely that Alexandra gets another shot on the broadcast – she’ll probably be off playing PUBG. –

ESL Katowice just the start for major Fortnite tournaments in 2019 ESL, HELENA KRISTIANSSON / Epic GamesEpic Games is set to partner with more third party tournament organizers to host Fortnite tournaments with over $50 million in prizing, according to a top esports insider. After announcing a deal with ESL to hold a Fortnite tournament at IEM Katowice in March, industry expert Rod ‘Slasher’ Breslau claims that that 2019 will be “the year” for Fortnite esports as Epic Games has several other lucrative partnerships in the pipeline. The upcoming ESL Katowice Royale will see the likes of Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney, Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore, Noah ‘Vivid’ Wright and other big streamers and pros compete for huge prizes, with a total of $500,000 up for grabs. However, this is just the start – Breslau says. “Epic will be partnering with several more tournament organizers throughout the year for Fortnite esports” he tweeted. “Make fun of Fortnite all you want – and I will continue to put Epic Games on blast for their poor handling of Competitive Fortnite mixed with game updates – 2019 is the year of Fortnite esports with massive viewership to come.” Make fun of Fortnite all you want – and I will continue to put Epic Games on blast for their poor handling of Competitive Fortnite mixed with game updates – 2019 is the year of Fortnite esports with massive viewership to come. https://t.co/5XLNlDgS3C — Rod Breslau (@Slasher) January 24, 2019 The Katowice Royale event will take place between March 1-3 alongside a separate Polish edition of the tournament, which will have a $100,000 prize pool of its own. • Epic vs Apple lawsuit could bring Fortnite back to iOS – Dexerto

Epic vs Apple lawsuit could bring Fortnite back to iOS Epic Games/AppleRecent developments in the Epic Games vs. Apple lawsuit have raised the possibility that Fortnite may make a comeback on iOS. Here’s more on that. The conflict commenced in August 2020 between Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite, and Apple, the tech corporation that created the App Store. By strategically bypassing Apple’s 30% commission on in-app purchases through the implementation of a direct payment system in Fortnite, Epic Games blatantly contravened the policies of the App Store. The prompt action taken by Apple was to withdraw Fortnite from the App Store. In response, Epic Games initiated a lawsuit against Apple, alleging monopolistic conduct and antitrust violations. Now after multiple court hearings and developments in the case, where Apple prevailed as well, the US Supreme Court has denied appeals of both sides. As the most recent development, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney wrote on X, “The Supreme Court denied both sides’ appeals of the Epic v. Apple antitrust case. The court battle to open iOS to competing stores and payments is lost in the United States. A sad outcome for all developers.” Offering an update on games and payments on the App Store, he further said, “Now the District Court’s injunction against Apple’s anti-steering rule is in effect, and developers can include in their apps ‘buttons, external links, or other calls to action that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms, in addition to IAP’.” However shortly after, Apple filed a bad-faith “compliance” plan for the District Court’s injunction. Despite that several hints through the lawsuit hinted towards a potential comeback for Fortnite on iOS devices. Here’s how. Fortnite iOS may return following Epic vs. Apple lawsuit outcome According to Industry Insider Mark Gruman, the European App Store on Apple devices will receive its sideloading feature in a few weeks. This further means that developers would be able to publish apps without a seal of approval from Apple. Similarly, Epic Games might be able to leverage the sideloading feature and bring back Fortnite soon to iOS devices in the European continent. As for the United States, the legal battle outcome has shown no such possibility as of yet.

  • Epic teases Blade as next Marvel hero to join Fortnite crossover – Dexerto

Epic teases Blade as next Marvel hero to join Fortnite crossover Epic Games / Marvel ComicsMarvel vampire superhero Blade looks set to be the next character to join the huge Fortnite crossover event in patch v14.20, after Epic teased his Season 4 debut with a hidden “Daywalker” reference in their unofficial patch notes. Fortnite has been piling Marvel heroes into the battle royale since the beginning of Season 4, as part of one of video game’s biggest crossovers to date. Iron Man, Black Panther, She-Hulk, and more have already made their Fortnite debuts. It looks like half-human, half-vampire Marvel superhero Blade may be next now too, with Epic dropping a secret message in update v14.20’s unofficial patch notes, sent to Fortnite content creators, journalists, and dataminers. The secret code, marked out with bold red lettering in the otherwise white-fonted Fortnite patch list, spells out a single hidden word: “Daywalker.” v14.20 Patch Notes Letters spell out “”Daywalker”” pic.twitter.com/7lpWWOzF1Y — iFireMonkey (@iFireMonkey) September 23, 2020 Who is the ‘Daywalker’ teased in Fortnite? For anyone playing at home, that’s the nickname given to Frank Blade by other vampires, due to the fact his half-human side means the hero can walk in the sunlight without burning alive. Now, Blade isn’t one of the biggest Marvel heroes in the comic book roster, partially because his last movie, ‘Blade: Trinity,’ was released in 2004. That means he’s missed the entire hype of the MCU franchise and the modern era of Marvel Comics. That doesn’t mean Blade is a nobody hero, however. He’s regularly had standalone series in print, and teamed up with the Avengers in the “The War of the Realms” crossover last year. He was also ranked 63rd in IGN’s comic character list. When will Blade officially join Fortnite? Outside of the new Fortnite v14.20 hint, Epic hasn’t actually revealed any details on when the newest Marvel debutant will be joining the battle royale event. Blade fans can expect to see their favorite half-human, half-vampire hero arrive sometime in the next week, however; there should be a short wave of teasers, before Blade becomes available in the Fortnite shop early next week. Dexerto expects Blade to be priced similarly to other Marvel skins if added to the shop in v14.20. He could also be added to the battle pass. Outside of his upcoming Fortnite debut, Blade is also set to finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the long-standing franchise’s fifth phase. Mahershala Ali has been cast as the half-vampire hero in the series reboot. Ali originally set up the film’s revival, and called Kevin Feige to get production rolling: “When Mahershala calls, you answer,” the MCU helmsman joked of the casting.

  • Epic Games threatens to ban Clix & other stars for playing Fortnite wagers – Dexerto

Epic Games threatens to ban Clix & other stars for playing Fortnite wagers Epic GamesFan-favorite wagers in Fortnite could soon be a thing of the past as Epic Games appears to be adamant on shutting down the friendly competition, following a threat of a ban to NRG’s Cody ‘Clix’ Conrod. Outside of official competitions and in-game tournaments promoted by the developers, Fortnite’s top players often engage in wagers to pass the time. When public lobbies aren’t cutting it and Arena gets tiresome, wagers are typically the saving grace for streamers when there’s little to no action. Countless professionals around the globe turn to friendly wagers for a number of reasons. For some, it’s one of the only ways to find proper competition outside of a tournament setting. For others, it’s purely just a means of entertaining their viewers. After years of wagers in the pro scene, it looks like Epic is pushing to shut them down for players under the legal gambling age: Clix was issued with a strict warning on Mar. 25, all but preventing him from joining a wager lobby again. “Won’t be playing or having anything to do with wagers,” the 16-year-old pro announced on Twitter. “Just got personally messaged by Epic and was told to stop.” Regardless of whether it’s a high-stakes wager between rivals, or a small and friendly wager between friends, everything is now off-limits. Also won’t be able to play arena with the amount of fucking stream snipers I have so will be starting to play Arena Box Fights!!!!!! orrr green vs purple go goated! — Clix (@Clix) March 25, 2021 If he were to ignore this warning, his account would eventually be hit with a “ban,” Clix explained. “Recommend others to stop as well, tweeting this so people are aware.” Given a vast majority of Fortnite talent is under the legal gambling age, even low-stake challenges among friends could breach Epic’s terms of service. Wagers inherently come with a form of gambling involved. Some wagers might be for a few dollars while others might be for a few thousand. Without wagers to compete in, however, this leaves top-level pros with even fewer options than before. As Clix outlined, he simply won’t be playing Arena moving forward. The online mode is allegedly riddled with “stream snipers.” “Nice game, f***ing nothing to do,” fellow pro ‘Wolfiez’ chimed in. “F***ing hell this game sucks,” Benjy ‘Benjyfishy’ Fish also added in a now-deleted tweet. Without wagers, Fortnite pros will have to find new ways to not only compete, but keep their fans engaged. Universal backlash could see Epic’s stance change over time, but for now, don’t expect to see any wagers online. Read More: The Rock teases Fortnite Season 6 crossover – If anyone goes against the grain, a ban could follow suit. Epic is yet to provide an official statement outside of Clix’s DMs, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated as further information comes to light.

  • Epic ships long-awaited patch fix for Fortnite building exploit – Dexerto

Epic ships long-awaited patch fix for Fortnite building exploit Epic GamesEpic Games has fixed a Fortnite building exploit that has reportedly existed since Season 10, which gave players in a specific position the ability to “take over” enemies’ builds and use it to their advantage. After a huge public outcry in the last 24 hours, one of Fortnite’s longest-standing building exploits has finally been fixed. Players will no longer be able to steal their enemies’ builds by facing north when battling them, instead having to resort old-fashioned fisticuffs to get on top of their enemy. The exploit started doing the rounds when players like ‘DuckyTheGamer’ and Jonathan ‘Yung Calculator’ Weber showcased it. It only worked on cones or floors, but the fact that the exploit existed regardless is enough of a game-breaker. you take cone floors and stairs 100% when ur looking towards the north ? pic.twitter.com/rhKWahyvj4 — reformed calc (@yungcalc) May 20, 2020 All players would need to do is stand on the south end of a structure and hit it while facing north. There wasn’t much skill or strategy that needed to go into it — just swinging your pickaxe around. While initial suspicions were that the exploit was introduced as part of Patch v12.60, some players reported this being a problem as far back as Season 10. Epic kicked into action almost immediately, shutting it down within hours. “We’ve resolved an issue allowing players to take over builds when facing certain directions,” the developers said on Twitter. “Thanks to everyone who flagged this discrepancy to us.” We’ve resolved an issue allowing players to take over builds when facing certain directions. Thanks to everyone who flagged this discrepancy to us! pic.twitter.com/DiKNVsI0E0 — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) May 21, 2020 Given how big of a problem it could have been, the quick turnaround surprised a lot of players. The rapid uptake of the exploit meant that it could have had drastic effects on the FNCS Invitational Grand Finals, or other tournaments throughout the week. If you wanted to test it out for yourself, unfortunately you’re too late. Builds now work as they are intended, and players looking to take shelter won’t need to worry about having their structures stolen away from them.

  • Epic suing Apple and Google after App Store, Play Store removes Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic suing Apple and Google after App Store, Play Store removes Fortnite Epic GamesUpdate (Thursday, August 13 – 5:50 PM): Epic Games has since filed another lawsuit, this time against Google following Fortnite’s removal from the Google Play app store as well. At roughly 4PM PT, Google opted to remove Fortnite from the Google Play App store. Just hours later, Epic filed a secondary lawsuit following the original case against Apple earlier in the day. The original story is as follows. Epic Games has announced that it is suing Apple over its decision to remove Fortnite from the App Store. This comes after the devs added a direct payment option for V-Bucks, which violated the tech giant’s policies. Early on August 13, Epic surprised players by providing them with a direct payment option in Fortnite on iOS and Android devices. Experts in the games industry speculated that the move could be in violation of Apple’s polices. Shortly after, the tech company responded by removing the popular battle royale from its App Store. The company then issued a lengthy statement, condemning the game’s publisher for breaking the rules set on their store. Apple removes Fortnite from App Store On August 13, Epic unveiled its “direct payment” option on iOS and Android devices. The move was praised by some, as it made V-Bucks cheaper for players by circumventing Apple’s 30% fees. However not long after, reports began to claim that Fortnite was no longer showing up on the App Store, before Apple confirmed that they had taken steps to remove the battle royale. In a statement to publication The Verge, the tech giant explained their decision stating that it had in fact violated their guidelines. “Today, Epic Games took the unfortunate step of violating the App Store guidelines that are applied equally to every developer and designed to keep the store safe for our users. As a result their Fortnite app has been removed from the store. Epic enabled a feature in its app which was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intent of violating the App Store guidelines regarding in-app payments that apply to every developer who sells digital goods or services. Epic has had apps on the App Store for a decade, and have benefited from the App Store ecosystem – including it’s tools, testing, and distribution that Apple provides to all developers. Epic agreed to the App Store terms and guidelines freely and we’re glad they’ve built such a successful business on the App Store. The fact that their business interests now lead them to push for a special arrangement does not change the fact that these guidelines create a level playing field for all developers and make the store safe for all users. We will make every effort to work with Epic to resolve these violations so they can return Fortnite to the App Store.” Epic Games sue Apple Following this, Epic announced that is has taken the decision to sue Apple over the removal of the game from the App Store. “Epic Games has filed legal papers in response to Apple,” the official Fortnite account tweeted, alongside a link to the legal document. Anti-Apple event in Fortnite It appears as though the company was expecting Apple to take action, as they launched an in-game event called #FreeFortnite in response to the removal. Alongside the hashtag, they also played a video with the statement: “Epic Games has defied the App Store Monopoly. In retaliation, Apple is blocking Fortnite from a billion devices. Join the fight to stop 2020 from becoming ‘1984.” 1984 is a reference to the book by George Orwell, which details the fictional story of a dystopian world where people have no freedom under the watchful eyes of Big Brother. (2/2) Here is what they played on screen in the game today. pic.twitter.com/5gHPrev8yh — Squatingdog (@thesquatingdog) August 13, 2020 Epic Games sue Google Shortly after all of this news broke out involving Apple, Google also removed Fortnite for Android from its own Play Store. Just hours later and Epic followed up with it’s second major lawsuit of the day, targeting Google for its removal of the mobile app. It appears that, just like with the iOS version of the app, Epic had secretly implemented a way for users to pay for in-app microtransactions directly instead of through the mobile platforms, which generally mark up certain costs to generate revenue. What happens now? According to various users, those that have the battle royale already installed on their iPhones and Android devices can still play and purchase items – the game has just been removed from the App Store and Google Play. This is reminiscent of the PT demo on PS4 in 2014, after Konami pulled it from the store following the cancellation of Silent Hills. Players that still have the playable teaser installed can still access it to this day, despite it not being available anymore.

  • Epic Games reveals reason for delaying Fortnite Season 2 competitions – Dexerto

Epic Games reveals reason for delaying Fortnite Season 2 competitions DreamHack / Epic GamesEpic has pumped the brakes on all Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 2 competitions, including announcements on the Fortnite World Cup and Champion Series, in the wake of the game’s latest update, delaying tournaments until some major issues are fixed. Fortnite’s pro scene has been in a bit of a lull since the release of Chapter 2: Season 2. Epic has been quiet on announcing any details regarding upcoming tournaments, including the Champion Series and the impending World Cup. Given players learned about Fortnite World Cup 2019 specifics at the end of February last year, pros were expecting a bit more than radio silence before now. However, Epic has looked to ease concerns, saying they are working through some issues first before releasing any info. In a March 2 statement on the Fortnite Competitive Twitter account, Epic mentioned they are ironing out many of the performance issues plaguing players since Season 2’s release. “For Chapter 2: Season 2, we’re working to address performance issues impacting both clients and servers,” it said. “Our goal is to improve performance before kicking off any cash-prized competition. We’ll keep you posted with schedule updates as soon as possible.” For Chapter 2 – Season 2, we’re working to address performance issues impacting both clients and servers. We’ll keep you posted with schedule updates as soon as possible. — Fortnite Competitive (@FNCompetitive) March 2, 2020 Epic’s response has been welcomed by pro players, who appreciate the developer’s transparency after a long silence. “Finally an actual answer to why nothing has been going on,” said Luminosity’s ‘Kiwiz’. “Seriously don’t be scared to update the community so we actually know what’s happening.” Fortnite’s first solo World Cup champion, Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf, dropped a “thank you” in reply to Epic’s statement. The Sentinels player is preparing for his title defense this year, although no details about the World Cup are known yet. As for the Champion Series, there hasn’t been a word since play wrapped up for Chapter 2: Season 1 back in December 2019. While squads and trios have been cycled through in the last two seasons, and solos rumored to be the next format, nothing has been set in stone. Finally an actual answer to why nothing has been going on. Seriously don’t be scared to update the community so we actually know what’s happening — kiwiz (@Kiwiz) March 2, 2020 Cash Cups have also dried up since the release of Chapter 2: Season 2, with the last solo cash cup held back on January 30, three weeks before the update came out. Epic did promise to update players when the situation changes, but until then, pros will have to keep running through scrims until this season’s events are announced.

  • Epic responds to concerns over leaked Fortnite player logins – Dexerto

Epic responds to concerns over leaked Fortnite player logins Epic Games / Unsplash: Markus SpiskeFortnite players have made big claims that Epic is leaking player logins through the battle royale’s in-game leaderboard. However, the developer has insisted the system is safe, and there’s been no evidence of hacked accounts through it. Security scares are no joke, and while developers do their best to keep them underwraps, they can sometimes appear where you least expect them. That’s what Fortnite pro Jonathan ‘Yung Calculator’ Weber was claiming after being mysteriously logged out of his account. The Built By Gamers player claimed Fortnite’s in-game leaderboards were leaking players’ private information, including email addresses. People could then use these emails to either try and brute force hack accounts, or reset passwords and kick players out of the game. “Guys, Epic Games’ infrastructure is so dogmeat that if you don’t have this turned off, people can find your email,” he said. https://twitter.com/yungcalc/status/1352427457614389248 “That’s kind of bad on its own, but then if they have your email, they can send password resets to your account. That’s fine normally — on Twitter, it means nothing normally — but on Epic Games, it logs you out in-game.” “This has happened to Clix, Nick Eh 30, Nate Hill — everyone. Epic Games has no idea what they’re doing. Their infrastructure is garbage. They need to change it — it’s disgraceful.” Read More: How to unlock the Predator skin & cosmetics – However, people aren’t sold on Yung’s story. Fortnite dataminer ‘FNBRUnreleased’ has stated that it’s impossible. Epic’s API doesn’t allow for the sharing of information like Yung and others think. “It is not possible to view the email of another person’s Epic [account]. Epic’s API does not work like that. I’ve been seeing this rumor from [Yung Calculator] spreading false information,” they claimed. https://twitter.com/FNBRUnreleased/status/1352449938207158274 FNBRUnreleased’s standpoint has been backed up by Epic. The developer published a statement in response to Yung’s claims, saying leaderboards do not leak any players’ secure information. “We investigated reports that leaderboards were divulging non-public information or causing unauthorized logouts. This is not the case. “We are certain that affected accounts remain secure, player info (incl. email addresses) isn’t being divulged & any logout issue is resolved.” We investigated reports that leaderboards were divulging non-public information or causing unauthorized logouts. • Epic responds to Fortnite glitch making it impossible to run players over – Dexerto

Epic responds to Fortnite glitch making it impossible to run players over Epic GamesCars in Fortnite aren’t just for getting around the island — they can be weapons themselves. However, a new glitch has either turned players into unstoppable beasts or cars into bounce pads, as players have noted they can’t run others over. Cars have been a godsend to Fortnite players. They have been a huge addition to getting across the map, especially as the tides fell and revealed more of the island. However, they can also be as lethal as the weapons players loot. One hit from a car should be enough to kill any straggling player. A new bug though is making players bounce right off the bumper though, making it impossible to run them over. Reddit user gentlecat2210 showcased the bug in action. Rocking the Gold skin for Groot — which they claim is the reason behind the bug — they tried to run a player over with their truck. However, instead of squashing the player, they bounced right off. They were visibly confused as to what happened, turning around for round two before the clip cuts. The player lived miraculously, which ended up being a missed elimination for gentlecat and their squad. The problem extends well beyond just being innocuous though. There are often weekly challenges that involve running over players with vehicles, whether it be with a car, boat, or even helicopter. Read more: Fortnite leak reveals Disney crossover – Not being able to do that means players could miss out on crucial experience. Thankfully, the Week 10 challenges don’t include one of those missions, but if it appears in a future set, there could be trouble. Epic didn’t necessarily reply to gentlecat’s post on Reddit. However, they’re aware of the problem, as they’ve listed it on their Trello board. Epic’s description of the bug states “cars do not consistently damage objects or players upon impact,” which means they’ve managed to limit the scope to just one vehicle. However, they’re still investigating the issue. It’s likely a fix could come with the next patch, v14.60, which is set to be the last update of Fortnite Season 4. However, keep your eyes peeled in case it comes early — or if the bug is even bigger than it seems.

  • Epic responds to reports Fortnite has removed police cars in Season 3 – Dexerto

Epic responds to reports Fortnite has removed police cars in Season 3 Epic GamesThe decision to remove all instances of police cars from Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 3 was not a “political statement,” battle royale developers Epic Games have said. The response comes after fans noticed environmental patrol cars had been hooked from the title following a June 17 update. Fortnite Season 3 is here. With it came some of the biggest changes in the battle royale since Chapter 2 began. Water flooded the map, and players got access to a number of new vehicles, including sharks, cars, and trucks. One vehicle has been reported missing since the June 17 update, however. Fans have noticed police cars may have been removed from Fortnite’s flagship battle royale. They have also been removed from the ‘Creative’ hub too. Fortnite has always had a host of environmental elements across the map. These include trucks, cars, ice cream vans, and police cars. Since Season 3 hit live servers, the now-flooded battle royale island is missing the latter though, Kotaku pointed out on Sunday evening. Police cars are gone, Epic told the Wall Street Journal after the reports began, but it’s not a “political statement,” they added. Instead, the devs are simply trying to be “sensitive about issues” players are dealing with at the moment. This isn’t the first time Epic has made Fortnite decisions based on the current protests in the US either. The battle royale developers made the decision to delay Season 3’s launch earlier this month to allow the communities to focus on the Black Lives Matter movement. Epic weren’t alone in that decision. Infinity Ward announced they were pushing back their own Modern Warfare season drop to allow “change to be seen and heard,” and FIFA 21’s reveal was pushed back for similar reasons. The decision to scrap the service vehicles from the globally-popular battle royale also nips in the bud any chance for Fortnite to become bogged in controversy. As Reddit user ‘africkinfrick’ said in a thread dedicated to the police car removal, “people would be able to drive cars, and [players] shooting from police cars… would cause all sorts of controversy.” Dexerto can also confirm Fortnite’s game-wide removal of police car designs also stretches to Creative mode. Redditor ‘Ovacq’ reported police cars appear briefly when falling from the Rift, before turning to normal cars, which Dexerto has since tested and confirmed. Police cars may have been shunted from the popular battle royale, there’s plenty more stuff coming the other way in Fortnite Season 3. The washed-out arena is Fortnite’s most obvious change, but there’s also new guns, and reworked fire mechanics too. There was also a big change in the game’s coding on PC as well: the contentious aim assist feature for controller players copped a huge nerf. That comes after the raft of tweaks for the notorious feature in a secret v12.61 hotfix back in May.

  • Epic responds to amusing Fortnite jetpack glitch while hiding – Dexerto

Epic responds to amusing Fortnite jetpack glitch while hiding Epic GamesHiding with a jetpack equipped has led to a bizarre issue in Fortnite, with Epic Games confirming that the mix of features is certainly not working as intended. Jetpacks are a limited-time Legendary item in Fortnite that allows players to soar through the skies, quickly retake high ground, and get the jump on their opponents. If you’re being hunted down however, hiding can often be a great way to steer clear of enemies and get your breath back. Amusingly, the Legendary item doesn’t mix all too well with the hiding mechanic however, leading developers at Epic Games to respond and issue a comment on the state of the ridiculous issue in-game. Once players are tightly secured in any given hiding spot on the map, a hilarious glitch can occur that sends them sky-high thanks to the jetpack item. Triggering its boosting effects while in the hiding spot shouldn’t really have any effect on paper. In practice though, the interaction leads to all sorts of unforeseen issues. Reddit user ‘DrGetSomeStrange‘ shared one such interaction while hiding in a portable toilet. After activating the jetpack, his camera angle shot into the sky opposed to just staying put. Rising through the sky as though the character model was in the center of the screen the entire time, players are able to soar until they can see the entire map in-full view. Eventually reaching the apex, their character magically appeared and began plummeting back down to the land below. The silver lining of this particular instance is that thankfully the jetpack item had enough charge left to slow the player’s fall and avoid a hilarious death. Responding to the issue at hand, an Epic Games community coordinator outlined how the problem is “currently on [their] scope and is being investigated” by the development team. There’s no quite telling how soon Epic will be able to get on top of the awkward interaction and patch out the evident bug, so for the time being, perhaps try to avoid hiding with a jetpack at all costs. Comment byu/DrGetSomeStrange from discussion inFortNiteBR While jetpacks can be quite the rare find in Fortnite, if you happen to spot an enemy with one attached to their back, at least you’ll know in advance to aim sky-high if they attempt to hide. Not the only high-flying bug of late, Snowmen also launched players into space throughout the Christmas-themed event.

  • Epic responds to bizarre Fortnite bug that forces players underwater – Dexerto

Epic responds to bizarre Fortnite bug that forces players underwater Epic GamesA newfound issue in Fortnite has forced a response out of the developers at Epic Games, after players have been forced underwater despite being well above sea level in some cases. While much of the conversation surrounding Fortnite’s major Season 2 update has centered around the controversial controller aim assist debate, a number of game-breaking issues and frustrating exploits have slipped through the cracks and become major talking points in their own right. The latest issue amusingly forces players underwater, making it much more of a challenge to stay alive and take care of any opposition nearby. A number of recent issues have seen both players and vehicles falling through the map and dying underneath. However, the latest issues appear to keep characters at ground level and simply give off the illusion that they are somehow underwater. While early into a March 2 game, Reddit user ‘Smiffy0914’ found themselves at The Agency. A new addition in Season 2, this locale is found at the center of the battle royale map and is isolated from any other nearby landmass. While crouching and turning their back to a wall once inside the central building, audio became muffled and their entire screen was overrun by a blueish tint as though they were swimming underwater. Transitioning in and out of the puzzling underwater realm, they outlined how the issue only rose to the surface when their back was against the wall and the camera was pressed up close to it. This particular instance of the bug occurred while playing on the Xbox One X, however, others in the Fortnite community confirmed that they have also spotted the exact same issue while playing on other platforms. Upon seeing the bizarre glitch, Epic Games Community Coordinator ‘EpicBoaty’ responded in saying that the “issue will be fixed in [the] next game update.” Fortunately, for the time being, players that stumble upon this bug are able to quickly walk away from the building and continue on with their match as though nothing had ever happened. While it might be a bit of an annoyance until the next patch is released, try to steer clear of this section of The Agency in particular if one of the final zones happens to push players inside the building.

  • EPIC reportedly cancel all Fortnite LANs & in-person events until 2022 – Dexerto

EPIC reportedly cancel all Fortnite LANs & in-person events until 2022 Epic GamesEPIC has told teams and organizations they shouldn’t expect any in-person events for Fortnite or other games well into 2022 due to the ongoing global health situation. Live events like the 2019 Fortnite World Cup helped to cement the game’s popularity as an esport, but like most other pro scenes over the last year and a half, LANs have been a thing of the past. Now, it seems like teams will have to wait even longer to play face-to-face based on an announcement from EPIC to teams and organizations on May 31. BREAKING: Epic not hosting or allowing ANY in-person LAN events until Q2 2022 pic.twitter.com/2k7kelEMq3 — Connor (@Connoreo_) May 31, 2021 Elite Esports player/manager Connoreo posted a message the team got from EPIC that apparently confirms there will be no in-person LAN events until Q2 (April) of 2022. “They stated they do not plan to allow in-person events until Q2 2022,” Connoreo wrote. “We do not completely agree with Epic Games… however we do respect Epic Games and their consideration to keeping everyone safe.” As EPIC broke the news, various tournaments were canceling and refunding ticket holders, leaving organizations to decide what their next course of action is, now not being able to participate in LANs. This comes on the heels of the wildly successful VCT Masters Reykjavik LAN event for VALORANT. Even though there were no fans in the stands, hundreds of thousands of viewers still tuned in to watch the players compete face-to-face. But, EPIC and Fortnite are not alone with holding off on returning to live play. Major VCT events seem to be the exception, as Overwatch League, CSGO, and CDL all have yet to return to live events as well (though CDL plans to return to live play for the Stage 4 Major). EPIC did apparently leave the door open to go back to live events earlier than 2022 based on their message, so we could see a return to live events sooner than later – but it doesn’t look too good so far.

  • Epic removes Fortnite cosmetic rarities for first time since launch and players think it’s an L – Dexerto

Epic removes Fortnite cosmetic rarities for first time since launch and players think it’s an L X/FNBRIntelEpic has now removed cosmetic rarities for the first time since the launch of Fortnite. Following the update, players think it’s an L for the game. Epic made several UI changes in Fortnite with the launch of Chapter 5 in December 2023. One of the most controversial changes was the new layout of the Fortnite locker, which players found extremely hard to navigate. Despite Epic assuring players of a hotfix, the team has now made another contentious change to Fortnite’s cosmetics with the new 29.20 update in Chapter 5 Season 2. According to the Epic blog post, colors, tags, and rarities that differentiated cosmetic items will no longer be visible in the Fortnite locker and Item Shop. In the same post, Epic wrote, “The Shop has evolved significantly to support multiple types of cosmetics and items across games, so we’re retiring the old Battle Royale-inspired system of colors and tags for cosmetic quality. Different Series of cosmetics — such as the Icon Series or Gaming Legends Series — will still be there to help you find your favorite stuff.” Following the removal of cosmetic rarities for the first time since the launch of Fortnite, players slammed Epic for an “L move.” One player said, “R.I.P Rarities 2017-2024.” Another chimed in, “Literally an iconic part of the game. They are trying to move past the old Fortnite. So cringe.” A third player said, “It’s gonna work against them when people don’t buy their ugly no-rarity skins when at least before if it was a higher rarity, maybe people would buy it.” Someone else wrote, “If they’re removing rarity then they need to adjust prices. Have all skins be unified in price, Make them cheaper. But going off the price of Lego builds, etc. they’ll just increase the price of everything. Uncommon-looking skins will now be 2,000 V-Bucks etc.” While Epic’s action has sparked outrage among players, they are at least delighted with the modification to Item Shop cosmetics, which will allow them to view the availability of each specific cosmetic as well as a date specified in the Item Description as to when it will exit the shop.

  • Epic Games remove Fortnite skins & items bought using third party V-Bucks – Dexerto

Epic Games remove Fortnite skins & items bought using third party V-Bucks Players who’ve purchased or acquired V-Bucks from shady third-party sites are logging into Fortnite to find their in-game currency, and items bought with them, removed from their profiles. This is all part of Epic’s new crackdown on other sites. If you’ve watched any Fortnite content on sites like YouTube, you’ve likely seen a banner advertisement or a pre-roll ad selling some V-Bucks deal through a third party service. Like sites that sell game keys or in-game skins and items, these sites always appear questionable when their legitimacy is brought up, with certain sites appearing more-or-less legitimate than others. This is not to imply that all third-party retailers are selling illegitimately acquired V-Bucks, but certainly some are, and Epic Games are now taking action, by removing the illegitimate currency and any in-game items that were purchased with them. The “Switch Method” appears to represent the act of using a credit card that instantly charges back the purchase right after it was made, but somehow doesn’t remove the V-Bucks that were purchased. This apparently worked only on the Nintendo Switch, and is also commonly referred to as credit card fraud. Epic has finally taken notice, and removed the currency that was purchased illegally no matter what account they eventually made their way to. So even if players bought from “legitimate” third party sellers, they still lose out on the V-Bucks because the sellers used the Switch method. They also refunded items that were purchased, and players who received gifts from someone who had their V-Bucks recalled also lose out on the gifts, with seemingly no way of reclaiming them, even with legitimate currency. Epic are reportedly cracking down on third-party sellers that obtain their goods by stealing accounts, and using the credit cards on those accounts to purchase V-bucks and then sell them to a buyer. Epic is also reclaiming the V-bucks and purchases obtained from this method too, and anyone who received gifts from someone who used this lose their gifts as well. Several fans are hoping Epic makes an exception for people who just received gifts from someone who used an illegitimate method, based on the notion that they didn’t have any part of the illegal process, but still lose out on a gift. But Epic appears to be going in hard with no exceptions, and setting a standard that any illegal V-bucks and purchases made with them are going to get scrubbed.

  • Epic and Legendary variants of Infantry Rifle coming soon to Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic and Legendary variants of Infantry Rifle coming soon to Fortnite Epic Games have announced that two brand new rarity variants for the Infantry Rifle weapon will be added to Fortnite Battle Royale. On April 16, the in-game announcement screen in Fortnite was updated to include a message revealing that the Infantry Rifle will soon have Epic and Legendary variants in the game. “Precision is rewarded with the new Epic and Legendary variants of the Infantry Rifle,” read the official announcement message. The screen also included an image of the weapon, which looks considerably different than the Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants that currently exist in the game. The new variants will feature a more refined and metallic look, as opposed to the classic wooden design that’s featured on the lower variants. When do these new Infantry Rifle variants get released? While Epic simply marked the new weapon variants as “coming soon,” it’s almost guaranteed that they will be released when the v8.40 game update goes live on April 17. Apart from the fact that almost every announced weapon has gotten released in the following update, the actual announcement message parallels the tweet Epic put out for the v8.40 update, which include the caption “Hit your mark!” What are the stats for the new Infantry Rifle variants? Unfortunately, the exact stats for the Epic and Legendary Infantry Rifles will not be officially revealed until the v8.40 patch notes are made available. However, the degree with which the two new variants will improve upon the existing three should be relatively proportional, so we can get a general idea for the new stats by simply comparing the stats of the three variants that are in the game. It’s also important to keep in mind that the arrival of these new variants could see the end of at least one of the lower rarities, so keep an eye out for that in the patch notes. Why do the new Infantry Rifle variants look different? In the past, whenever Epic Games have added Epic and Legendary variants of a weapon that already had three lower rarity variants in the game, they’ve made the design of the higher rarities considerably different. While the reason for this hasn’t actually ever been revealed, the trend has stayed consistent for pretty much all of the weapons it’s applied to, including the Burst Assault Rifle, Pump Shotgun, and the SCAR/M16 AR, and it will be so for the Infantry Rifle.

  • Epic permanently bans renowned Fortnite leaker HYPEX for incident 3 years ago – Dexerto

Epic permanently bans renowned Fortnite leaker HYPEX for incident 3 years ago Epic GamesEpic Games have elected to permanently ban renowned Fortnite leaker HYPEX for an incident that happened three years ago. In a bizarre turn of events, Epic Games have permanently banned popular Fortnite leaker, HYPEX, for breaking the game’s rules in 2018. This comes in the wake of a similarly obscure ban during the FNCS, where 100 Thieves’ team (led by MrSavage) were banned mid-match, ultimately losing them a whole host of points just when they needed them. The leaker has expressed his disappointment on Twitter, and is pleading with the gaming behemoth to overturn the ban. HYPEX permanently banned from Fortnite In a Twitter post from September 9, HYPEX informed their following that they had been permanently banned from the game for “account transferring” in 2018, now three years ago. “Epic said I’m permabanned for ‘Account Transferring,’” they lament. “All because my friend gave me his account in 2018 when I lost mine. After all the love that I gave the game since the start and sticking with it during its highs & ups, I get this for a simple mistake I didn’t know about. “Nobody knows how much I truly love the game,” they continue. “And I can name MANY reasons why my ban is beyond unfair, I already told some of those reasons to Epic in private hoping they’ll reconsider this but seems like I’ll get ignored again.” Nobody knows how much I truly love the game. And I can name MANY reasons why my ban is beyond unfair, I already told some of those reasons to Epic in private hoping they’ll reconsider this but seems like I’ll get ignored again. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, love y’all ❤️ — HYPEX (@HYPEX) September 9, 2021 Their original tweet has accrued over 13k upvotes at the time of writing, with the comments section awash in fellow players supporting their attempts to get the account unbanned. Two hashtags have also been set up to try and wield the power of social media, with fans of his content rallying behind #FreeHYPEX and #UnbanHYPEX. While both HYPEX and the larger community are clearly devastated by Epic’s decision, they’ll need to wait and see what the future holds.

  • Epic in new Fortnite lawsuit over allegedly stealing viral video dance – Dexerto

Epic in new Fortnite lawsuit over allegedly stealing viral video dance Fortnite developer Epic Games has become embroiled in another lawsuit relating to the battle royale’s dancing emotes, this time relating to the Halloween-themed “Pump It Up” emote, based on a 2006 viral video. On October 30, Matthew Geiler, who has become known as the ‘Dancing Pumpkin Man’ after his 2006 video exploded in popularity across the internet, drafted a cease-and-desist letter to Epic, threatening a lawsuit regarding the emote. The game’s Halloween-themed emote was available for purchase for a single day during this year’s Fortnitemares event. The dance transforms players’ heads into flaming pumpkins as they dance like Geiler in his thirteen-year-old viral video. Carve up the dance floor 🎃 Grab the new Pump It Up Emote in the Item Shop now!#Fortnitemares has returned pic.twitter.com/Pg1nvxZecg — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) October 30, 2019 Geiler suggested the emote was “infringing on his personal likeness,” and stated in his letter he was “prepared to take all necessary actions to protect the Dancing Pumpkin Man character” if Epic failed to remove the emote from the battle royale. The Fortnite developers hit back nearly immediately, according to The Verge, filing a preemptive complaint seeking a judge’s ruling on the matter. Epic also filed a complaint against Geiler and his creative consulting company Sick Picnic Media, detailing that the ‘Dancing Pumpkin Man’ isn’t a trademarked character, voiding Geiler’s original cease-and-desist request. The development company suggested Geiler had no right to the character because he created the costume from “preexisting, third-party Halloween jack-o-lantern decorations from his company’s holiday lobby display.” Epic also alleged in the court filing, which is available online, characters adorned with pumpkin heads and related to Halloween were “common in many other creative works,” including horror movies, and Marvel’s Spider-man franchise. The court filing also suggests the outfit appearing in Geiler’s viral video isn’t “substantially similar” to Fortnite’s emote, with the facial features completely different, and none of the characters who use the dance wearing a black unitard. Finally, Epic’s preemptive lawsuit details a licensing deal made between the Fortnite developers and Geiler, which the ‘Dancing Pumpkin Man’ previously confirmed on Facebook and in an interview with Mel Magazine, suggesting both parties had come to an agreement on the use of both the dance, and any potential likeness. There have been no further developments on whether Geiler has rescinded his initial letter, but the clock is ticking for him now: with Epic’s lawsuit request, they have stipulated the court declare the company has broken no rules, which will basically force Geiler to allow Epic the continued use of the dance emote. Fortnite’s developers have also asked for legal fees, expenses, and “other, further, and different relief as the Court deems just and proper” to be covered by Geiler if the company is deemed to have not infringed any licensing agreements. This isn’t the first time Epic has been pulled into a legal battle over dances in their global phenomenon either, with several lawsuits against the games company dropped in March this year following a US Supreme Court decision relating to copyright lawsuits. Of those, the most high profile was former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Alfonso Ribeiro’s claim Epic’s use of “The Carlton” emote infringed on his personal copyright. That lawsuit ended after the US Copyright Office rejected his requests.

We have learned a lot from experiments with scoring schemes and formats, attempting to find the best balance between simplicity, entertainment, server performance and competitive integrity. As a result, Epic are planning on a new “robust” competition system for all players, the first version of which will be coming soon. We are aware of a strong desire from competitive players for more opportunities to compete directly against one another within the same match. Development recently began for a robust competition system which will allow for all players to compete with one another and be recognized for their accomplishments. The first version of this feature is expected later this Fall. Furthermore, these official competitive events will not stop there, as Epic have said that they plan on continuing to host and support events in the near future. Expect for us to continue operating and supporting competitive events after the conclusion of Summer Skirmish as we lead into next year’s official Fortnite World Cup. With Epic Games having pledged $100 million in prize pool money, players and fans can expect the competitive side of Fortnite to start building up real soon. Source – Epic Games

  • Epic Games Will Not Use the Google Play Store for Fortnite on Android – Dexerto

Epic Games Will Not Use the Google Play Store for Fortnite on Android Epic Games has announced that it will not be using Google Play to distribute Fortnite when it becomes available on the Android operating system. Players will instead have to use a separate installer provided by Epic to download the game directly from the Fortnite website. The move appears to be financially motivated, as Epic Games will not have to share the profits they make from in-game V-Bucks sales on Android with Google. Speaking with gaming news outlet EuroGamer, Tim Sweeney, the founder of Fortnite, said that this decision helps the developers save nearly an extra 30 pct. Avoiding the 30 per cent “store tax” is a part of Epic’s motivation. It’s a high cost in a world where game developers’ 70 per cent must cover all the cost of developing, operating, and supporting their games. And it’s disproportionate to the cost of the services these stores perform, such as payment processing, download bandwidth, and customer service. We’re intimately familiar with these costs from our experience operating Fortnite as a direct-to-customer service on PC and Mac. Once Fortnite is released on Android, users will have to visit the Fortnite official website and download a special installer. TouchArcade touched up on what the process will look like in their own conversation with Sweeney: We were lucky enough to have Epic run us through a hands on with just how the install process works. Basically, players on Android devices will head to the Fortnite web site at which point you tap a button to download the Fortnite Installer .apk file. After that finishes, you launch the Fortnite Installer, which, unsurprisingly, installs Fortnite. The one really strange thing about this process that I think is going to cause loads of confusion is what you do next. This is consistent with what Epic has done with Fortnite on PC and Mac, having bypassed Steam and used their own installer and launcher to deliver the game and its contents to players. Sweeney mentioned that they would have done the same with iPhone users on the iOS, but Apple’s strict restrictions on third-party installers inhibited them from doing so.

  • Epic Games Warn About Scam Phishing Emails Announcing Fortnite Battle Royale on Android – Dexerto

Epic Games Warn About Scam Phishing Emails Announcing Fortnite Battle Royale on Android Fortnite have warned people to beware of the scam phishing emails which offer you sign ups for a fake beta of Fortnite Battle Royale on Android. Google’s annual conference is going down in California right now, where the company announces upcoming news, and the event has revived rumors about the upcoming arrival of Fortnite Battle Royale on Android, which is still to be announced. When Fortnite first appeared on iOS, the developers of Epic Games confirmed that the game would also come to Android in the future, without giving a specific date, only “in a few months”. No additional information has been revealed since then, either by Epic Games or Google, and Android players are beginning to wonder when they can get their hands on it. Suffice to say that when some players began to claim that they had received an email proposing sign ups for a Fortnite Android beta, the information quickly spread on social networks. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that these emails were fake, and were in fact a phishing scam intended to steal the credentials of your Epic Games account and resell it later. This has now been confirmed by an employee of Epic Games. @Game_Revolution this is not true, the email going around is an obvious phishing scam. Please reach out to us for clarifications before spreading misinformation. Thanks. — Nick Chester (@nickchester) May 8, 2018 The reason I’m coming down on this so hard is that people ARE falling for this scam and are getting their information compromised because of things like this. It’s important people have correct information and are not misled. — Nick Chester (@nickchester) May 8, 2018 So be very careful about this kind of email. When registrations for a Fortnite beta on Android go live, it will be no doubt be officially announced by Epic Games on their social channels, and we will of course keep you up to date.

  • Epic Games vault a number of items for Fortnite’s Season 6 – Dexerto

Epic Games vault a number of items for Fortnite’s Season 6 Epic Games have removed five items from Fortnite Battle Royale, as the game enters Season 6. With plenty of new additions coming to Fortnite with the Season 6 launch, Epic Games have decided to remove a number of weapons and items, including; Impulse Grenades – Suppressed SMG – LMG – C4 Explosives – Bouncers. – Fans of the popular battle royale game will be sad to see Impulse Grenades head to the vault. The Impulse Grenade has been a staple of Fortnite for a long time, with players using it as an offensive tool to jump and take out enemies. The arrival of the Legendary Shockwave Grenade may have been the end for the classic item. Read More: Fortnite Season 6 map update – Images and breakdown of changes Also entering the vault are Bouncers, which were only added to the game back in Season 4. Players are definitely upset about the removal of the item, with some fans on Reddit calling them “one of the best items this game has had”. Season 6 vaulted weapon list: – Impulse Nades – Suppressed SMG – LMG – Bouncers – C4sSeason 6 is not messing around! :flushed: — Ali-A (@OMGitsAliA) September 27, 2018 Epic Games regularly vault items in an attempt at keeping the game fresh for players. It forces players to adapt to new weapon metas, not allowing any one strategy to take over the game for too long. While items that have been vaulted are removed from the game for now, Epic Games always stress that they could make a return to the game in the future. There is some good news for fans of these vaulted items, as Epic Games have confirmed that they will all remain available in Playground mound.

  • Epic Games VP responds to accusations of being “out of touch” over Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games VP responds to accusations of being “out of touch” over Fortnite Epic GamesEpic Games’ Co-Founder and Vice-President, Mark Rein, has responded after he was criticized as “out of touch”, amid ongoing anger surrounding the BRUTE mech in Fortnite. Since the start of its tenth season, Epic Games’ battle royale has been widely criticized for the implementation of BRUTE mechs. However, on August 15, Epic Games provided an update regarding their ‘Fortnite Philosophy’. The update essentially explained that they are trying to create a gaming environment in which anyone can achieve a victory royale. This led to further backlash from the community, some of which was aimed at Rein, particularly after it was noticed he liked a tweet which said Epic Games “has no obligation” to listen to the community. The tweet showing Rein’s Twitter likes originally came from ‘Cowboy’, a Fortnite Twitch streamer. Professional Fortnite player for Overtime, Pacifist, replied to Cowboy’s tweet, stating that: “He’s a super nice guy and down to earth. Met him at WC. Sadly he’s out of touch with what the competitive scene needs in order to thrive.” Cowboy then responded that “no one who is pro mech is a nice guy”. However, Rein seemed to take issue with this exchange, explaining that just because he liked the tweet does not mean he is “pro mech”, nor an advocate of ignoring the community. Ima say something stupid and go out on a limb here; no one who is pro mech is a nice guy. — Cowboy (@CowboyFN_) August 18, 2019 I use the like button on twitter as a bookmark to be able to remember and easily find things. It does not mean I agree or disagree with the thing I liked but simply that I wanted to reference it later. — Mark Rein (@MarkRein) August 18, 2019 “I use the like button on twitter as a bookmark to be able to remember and easily find things,” he responded. “It does not mean I agree or disagree with the thing I liked but simply that I wanted to reference it later.” Rein’s point is a fair one, given that a ‘like’ on Twitter does not necessarily indicate agreement, although it is typical. However, more cynical community members are unlikely to buy Rein’s response, as Epic’s VP was never going to stand by a tweet that essentially advocated for ignoring the community. It’s fair to say that the Fortnite community is up in arms about the mechs, and want to see a significant nerf, or even their complete removal. Epic appear to be standing strong and rejecting all community accusations that they are “killing” their game, as some Fortnite creators have suggested. • Epic Games Updates Fans on When Playground Mode Will Return to Fortnite But It’s Not Good News – Dexerto

Epic Games Updates Fans on When Playground Mode Will Return to Fortnite But It’s Not Good News Epic Games has provided another update on the Playground Limited Time mode’s return to Fortnite Battle Royale and it isn’t good news for fans that were hoping for a quick fix. The Playground Mode was one of the most highly anticipated additions to the game in recent memory as it gave players the chance to practice in a more relaxed environment and hone their skills. With more resources, every chest spawning in for every game, and the option to play together with friends with friendly fire and unlimited respawns, Playground Mode is the closest thing to a private practice lobby that Fortnite has offered so far. Introduced as part of the V4.5 update on June 27th, Playground Mode was an instant hit with the players that got to try it out but it was disabled after just a few hours of being live due to the need to “investigate some issues with out matchmaking services.” Originally this downtime was expected to last just a handful of hours but Epic later announced that it would continue overnight. 24 hours later the mode was still not re-enabled but Epic stated that “We’re still testing these changes but are aiming to return this mode later today.” Unfortunately, Epic gave another update late on June 28th and the news is, once again, not good. In a statement on Twitter, the game developer said “We need to continue testing our matchmaking improvements” and revealed that more details will be available “tomorrow”. We need to continue testing our matchmaking improvements before opening the Playground LTM. We know you’re eager to get out there but due to this we’ll be unable to release this game mode tonight. More details available tomorrow. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) June 29, 2018 The extended downtime will be massive disappointment for the millions of Fortnite players worldwide, but it seems likely that Epic is trying to a repeat of the scenario that occurred with the release of the Shopping Carts. As the first “vehicles” to be added to Fortnite, the Shopping Carts were a highly anticipated addition to the game but they were plagued by bugs and glitches after their release. Epic attempted to fix the problems and re-enable the Carts on a number of occasions but were forced to keep disabling them until they were finally good to go. As such, it seems likely that the developers want to avoid this situation with the Playground Mode and only have to fix it one time.

  • Epic Games’ total worth skyrockets after big Fortnite investment – Dexerto

Epic Games’ total worth skyrockets after big Fortnite investment The success of Fortnite has now made its creator Epic Games one of the most valuable game and software development studios in the world. The studio, which also made early entries in the Gears of War series and Unreal tournament, started work on Fortnite: Save the World in 2012, released in early access in July 2017. But, it was the battle royale mode, released in early access in September 2017 that took the game, and the studio to new unprecedented heights. In 2012, when development of Fortnite: Save the World was in early stages, Epic Games was worth $660 million, now, six years later it has been given a valuation of $15 billion. The increased valuation comes after a round of funding from private equity firm KKR, which raised over $1.25 billion to contribute to more esports events. The growth of Epic Games has made its CEO and founder Time Sweeney a billionaire, after Fortnite hit $1 billion in total revenue from in game purchases by July 2018. The game’s microtransaction model has played a central role in its financial success, throwing out the use of the dreaded loot boxes for a less luck based (though no less lucrative) daily item system. Each day skins, gliders, emotes, back bling and other cosmetic items are placed in the shop for only 24 hours, before changing again the next day, creating an urgency to making purchases while a particular item is available. Fortnite also remains the most watched video game on Twitch, but statistics do show these numbers slowly dwindling, as it faces increased competition from new releases over the fall period, namely Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and its own battle royale mode, Blackout.

  • Epic Games trolls entire Fortnite fanbase to release new emote – Dexerto

Epic Games trolls entire Fortnite fanbase to release new emote Epic GamesA new emote has appeared in the Fortnite store, and the game celebrated by duping its fan base with an classic joke, almost as old as the internet itself. It’s been over a decade since the classic bait-and-switch was introduced to the online world, but even as 2020 gets rolling, it doesn’t appear to be going away yet thanks to Fortnite. On Valentine’s Day evening, the game’s official Twitter account posted a link to a video, with the caption “I liked a video on YouTube: Watch How This Bear Made The Unlikeliest Of Friends.” The video did show a bear and their friend, but it wasn’t what fans expected. I liked a video on YouTube: Watch How This Bear Made The Unlikeliest Of Friends https://t.co/iQDd9tB0e9 — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) February 15, 2020 The anthropomorphic bear sporting armor, an eyepatch, and a leather cap danced with Fishstick to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The Fortnite community had been rickroll’d by the game itself. Several big names in the game’s community reacted on social media, expressing disbelief that they had been rickroll’d by Fortnite in 2020. Some were more upset than others. However, the positive to be taken away is that the dance itself is now a purchasable, unlockable emote in the game itself. Players can now Rickroll their enemies and teammates to their heart’s content. It goes for 500 V-bucks on the store. Tfue discovered the emote while browsing the shop on stream, and, after being rickroll’d himself, wasted no time in getting it for himself. For those unfamiliar with what Rickroll-ing is, given that it’s a very old meme, it is the act of tricking someone into clicking open the music video for “Never Gonna Give You Up” by claiming that it is something else. The joke began on sites like 4chan, but over the next decade or so, it was used in movies, at sporting events, and became a staple of internet culture. If you’ve never heard of ‘rick rolling’ before, Rick Astley himself explains all right here.

  • Epic Games to host another Fortnite Trios Cup after disastrous first attempt – Dexerto

Epic Games to host another Fortnite Trios Cup after disastrous first attempt Graphics: Epic GamesEpic Games have revealed that they will be hosting a second Fortnite Trios Cup, despite the first one stirring up controversy among the community – plagued with problems. The developers of the popular battle royale game have revealed that there will be another Trios tournament commencing on July 21 and the option to play as a Trio in Fortnite will be available until the end of Season 9. There had been some major concerns raised, which led to the eventual disabling of the Storm Flip item on July 12. Players noticed that once enemies had been struck down, they weren’t dropping the number of materials they should have done – 50 each. Instead, they were dropping nothing at all. 600Epic have since moved to reassure players that they are aware of the problems that impacted the first Trios Cup and have made some tweaks for next time. “While addressing the material drop issue in the Trios Cash Cup, we ran into a different issue,” their statement reads. “We’ve decided to run the Trios Cash Cup with default harvesting rate and no material drop for the rest of the weekend. While addressing the material drop issue in the Trios Cash Cup, we ran into a different issue. We’ve decided to run the Trios Cash Cup with the default harvesting rate and without material drop for the rest of the weekend. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) July 13, 2019 The post also revealed that Trios players will now be “instantly disconnected” from the game as soon as all members of their team have been eliminated, which – while unconfirmed – may have been a contributing factor to the material problem. Two other alternatives were explored by the tournament organizers once the issues came to light, which included both reverting to Arena material drop settings (an increased rate) and even scrapping the Trios Cup entirely. Please be aware that in this tournament, teams will be instantly disconnected from the match as soon as the last player on the team is eliminated. We will run an additional one-day Trios tournament on July 21. Arena Trios will also remain enabled until the end of this season — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) July 13, 2019 However, after confirming on Twitter – and Reddit – that the show must go on and that they would rather offer the opportunity to compete again, rather than canceling proceedings, we now know that they’re going to give it another go. Competitors will be hoping that similar issues don’t resurface in the upcoming one-day event later in July, and judging by the firm response from the game’s developer, they will be monitoring the situation closely.

  • Epic Games to pay over $500m in Fortnite refunds & privacy violation penalty after FTC fine – Dexerto

Epic Games to pay over $500m in Fortnite refunds & privacy violation penalty after FTC fine Epic GamesFortnite creator Epic Games has agreed to pay $520m to settle the Federal Trade Commission’s allegations that it had violated a children’s privacy law and used certain tricks to get millions of players to make unintentional purchases. The FTC’s action against Epic Games involves two separate record-breaking settlements. As part of a proposed federal court order filed by the Department of Justice, Epic will pay a $275 million monetary penalty for violating the COPPA Rule — the largest penalty ever obtained for violating an FTC rule, according to the Commission. Additionally, Epic will be required to adopt strong privacy default settings for children and teens, ensuring that voice and text communications are turned off by default, in a first-of-its-kind ruling. As noted in Epic’s newsroom post, Fortnite settings default to the highest privacy option for players under the age of 18, including voice and text chat defaulting to “Nobody.” Under a separate order, Epic will pay $245 million to refund consumers for its billing practices. This is the FTC’s largest refund amount in a gaming case and its largest administrative order in history. “As our complaints note, Epic used privacy-invasive default settings and deceptive interfaces that tricked Fortnite users, including teenagers and children,” said FTC Chair Lina M. Khan. “Protecting the public, and especially children, from online privacy invasions and dark patterns is a top priority for the Commission, and these enforcement actions make clear to businesses that the FTC is cracking down on these unlawful practices.” “The Justice Department takes very seriously its mission to protect consumers’ data privacy rights,” said Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta. “This proposed order sends a message to all online providers that collecting children’s personal information without parental consent will not be tolerated.” According to the order, Fortnite used illegal “dark patterns” to trick players into making unwanted purchases and let children rack up unauthorized charges without any parental involvement. The Commission voted 4-0 to issue the proposed administrative complaint.

  • Epic Games double down on preventing Fortnite cheaters with latest purchase – Dexerto

Epic Games double down on preventing Fortnite cheaters with latest purchase Epic Games have made it clear that cheating in Fortnite Battle Royale will not go unpunished on a number of occasions and their latest purchase only serves to enforce that. The developers of the incredibly popular game have officially purchased Kamu, a firm that specializes in security, player management and anti-cheat technology, for an undisclosed sum. Based in Helsinki, Kamu has already been working with Epic Games and Fortnite for some time and will continue to offer services to other customers and engines, regardless of the acquisition. According to gamesindustry.biz, Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeney had this to say about the news: “Building and launching games today is incredibly challenging, and only half the battle. Kamu’s tools for managing live games help developers grow and sustain their games successfully after launch.” Read More: Fortnite players are using the new scarecrow skins to trick their opponents in hilarious fashion – More important to the average Fortnite fan is what the move will mean for the game’s anti-cheat development as more and more players appear to be finding ways to gain an unfair advantage, particularly on PC. What anti-cheat work is being done is currently uncertain. The entire nature of working against hackers means that we might never know exactly what Epic and Kamu are doing to tackle it, just that they definitely are doing something! “Joining the Epic family is not only a childhood dream come true, but a huge boost for our mission to help developers create beautiful gaming experiences,” said Simon Allaeys, the CEO of Kamu. “Battling cheating in games was just the start; today our products also help developers stay competitive by identifying player needs as quickly as they emerge.” Kamu currently serves over 100 million PC players worldwide, providing a whole host of different services.

  • Epic Games tell Fortnite players to “edit slower” due to bug ahead of World Cup – Dexerto

Epic Games tell Fortnite players to “edit slower” due to bug ahead of World Cup Epic GamesEpic Games have been criticized by the Fortnite Battle Royale community, after they suggested that players slow down their editing as a workaround for inaccuracies when performing edits rapidly. As Fortnite closes in on two years since its release, the game continues to experience a number of meta-changes, particularly among its professional community, as the most talented players in the world strive to improve. One aspect of the game that has grown into an integral part of competitive gameplay is the ability to edit builds, allowing quick repositions and angles that allow for offensive play. As pro players take this ability to a rapid level, Epic Games look like they are struggling to keep up. An Epic Games response on their public Trello board – used to track issues in the game, which are then color coded depending on their status – suggested that players “edit structures slowly” in order to combat inaccuracies when editing rapidly. Read More: How to play in $1 million Fortnite Xbox Cup – The response was to a bug that means “Editing a structure rapidly may create a different shape than intended”. However, this response has – understandably – caused quite a stir in the Fortnite community, as the speed at which edits are performed is key to high-skilled engagements and can quite often determine which player successfully eliminates their opponent. A post by Reddit u/911riley1 was sarcastically titled “Big brain time”, mocking the Epic response. This view was echoed by a number of other players in response to the post, with one saying that the response translates to “stop being good”. With just a week to go until the Fortnite World Cup gets underway in New York City, many are hoping for improvements to editing mechanics, to ensure the quickest player is rewarded for their talents. • Epic apparently set to “nerf” BRUTE mech in Fortnite following backlash – Dexerto

Epic apparently set to “nerf” BRUTE mech in Fortnite following backlash Epic GamesSince its addition to the game at the inception of Season X, the BRUTE mech suit has received an overwhelmingly negative response from the Fortnite community – both casual and competitive, but Epic might be making changes soon. There have been numerous Reddit posts blasting the robot, as well as a number of prominent creators criticizing its implementation, including Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop and Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney. Many feel that the robot is out of place in the game, as well as being far too difficult to combat. It’s fair to say there is widespread confusion about why it has been added to the main game modes, rather than as a LTM. Ways to counter the mech in Fortnite: -Leave the game -???80% of my games have been ended due to mechs today. — Jack “CouRage” Dunlop (@CouRageJD) August 2, 2019 Previously, when an overpowered or generally disliked weapon or item has been added, Epic will respond to the backlash with a nerf, or even complete removal of the feature. It appears the BRUTE robots are destined for the same fate, at least if one Reddit user’s enquiries are anything to go by. On August 2, u/Some_Cheese said they emailed Epic about the BRUTE, and received a reply which states it is to be nerfed. “I do apologize for the inconvenience it has caused,” says the ‘Epic Games Expert’. “Rest assured the developers will nerf B.R.U.T.E soon due to a lot of players filing a complaint.” 300He also states that it “might” be removed from Fortnite’s competitive modes. It’s important to remember that they are not directly involved in the development process, and so this remains unconfirmed for now. However, given the extent of player feedback, and the fact Epic have been quick to fix similar complaints in the past, it does seem likely that we’ll see an Epic response of some kind in the near future. It is not the first time Epic have added a controversial item into the main game without consultation or a trial period. Back in December 2018, the Infinity Blade was thrown into all forms of the game, before being vaulted just 4 days later, after significant community backlash.

  • Epic Games teases new in-game Fortnite event to close out Fortnitemares – Dexerto

Epic Games teases new in-game Fortnite event to close out Fortnitemares Fortnite’s Halloween event, Fortnitemares, is coming to an end much earlier than originally anticipated and it’s bringing a new in-game event along with it. In-game events are nothing new to Fortnite, as fans were able to watch a massive rocket take off from the map back in June or watch the infamous cube fall into Loot Lake in September. Anyone hoping for a new event is in luck as Epic Games announced a new in-game event coming on November 4. “Login early and be in-match to witness the one-time event which starts at 1pm ET/ 6pm UTC.” Epic Games announced on Twitter. Login early and be in-match to witness the one-time event which starts at 1pm ET/ 6pm UTC. pic.twitter.com/6lBVC4REyS — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) October 31, 2018 Given that much of the mystery surrounding the last few months of Fortnite have dealt with everyone’s favorite cube, named Kevin by the community, this event will almost certainly center around the cube. After moving around for the entirety of Season 6, the cube is now projecting a laser beam into the sky, which is connected to the Cube Monsters being summoned all over the map. Given how game-changing the rocket event was, this will certainly not be an event you want to miss. That wasn’t all that Epic Games announced, however, as they also gave an end date and time for the Fortnitemares event. Fortnitemares will end just as the huge in-game event is set to kick off, meaning players have until November 4 at 1 PM ET to collect all their rewards. • Epic Games tease “unbelievable” content coming to Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games tease “unbelievable” content coming to Fortnite Epic GamesEpic Games have hinted at “unbelievable things” coming to Fortnite: Chapter 2 in the future – leaving fans wondering what this could mean. Fortnite has always had a certain strength in retaining players with brand new content, regular updates, and exciting changes, and it looks like they’re nowhere near done yet. Responding to complaints of server and lag issues within the game, a member of the Live Operations team decided to explain what Epic will be doing to address it – and offered a little more, too. The original Reddit post addressed the fact that many people are reporting issues with ping and latency since the start of Season 2, asking what Epic Games can or will do to fix it, or whether they’re even aware of it in the first place. Epic Games employee JShredz responded to the post explaining how exactly their servers work, saying that “always looking to improve the experience” for players, particularly where it pertains to server code performance. Towards the end of the comment, which went into a lot of detail about the servers, Shredz added that as wells as new additions like the Choppa, they’ve “got some unbelievable things in store for the future.” This immediately got players talking and asking questions. Of course, given the fact that the entire post was about server issues, it’s fair to assume that Epic has something big in the works to help improve performance and give players a more fair and enjoyable environment through that. But it seems to hint at something even grander. What could Epic Games be planning for Fortnite? Fortnite has had some of the biggest collaborations and activations we’ve ever seen in video games. The ongoing Deadpool challenges are a testament to Epic’s well-orchestrated relationship with Marvel, of which they have done many brand activations, so it’s possible that we see more Marvel – and possibly other big film franchises – arrive in Fortnite in the future. There are also the leaked Travis Scott skins, which would make the U.S. rapper only the second person to get their own skins in Fortnite – behind Mixer star Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins. Could Fortnite be collaborating with even more big-name celebrities in the near future? The phrase “unbelievable things” is one that could quite easily be attributed to some of the things Fortnite has done in the past, but it definitely raises some questions over how big exactly they’re able to go – implying it’s possible that they’ve hardly even scratched the surface so far. What exactly these things are remains to be seen, but if one thing is clear, it’s that Fortnite players still have a lot to look forward to.

  • Epic Games Teases New “Escape Plan” Item That’s Coming to Fortnite in v5.30 Update – Dexerto

Epic Games Teases New “Escape Plan” Item That’s Coming to Fortnite in v5.30 Update It appears that yet another new item is coming soon to Fortnite: Battle Royale. Epic Games has dropped a major hint about the upcoming item, which is likely to be released as part of the upcoming v5.30 Update. On August 20, replying on the ‘Patch v5.30 Information’ thread on Reddit, Epic representative ‘MrPopoTFS’ posted this comment about the potential new item: Are you a player on the go? Carry an escape plan in your back pocket with a new item making it’s way to Battle Royale! /popcorn emote While the comment does not reveal anything specific, the use of the words “escape plan” and “on the go” have led some to believe that the new item will be the Grappling Hook. The Grappling Hook was one of the several items found by data miners in game files as early as June, and again in recent files on August 7. Regardless of what the new item will be, it will very likely be added to Fortnite with the v5.30 Update that will be going live on August 23, considering that the comment above was posted in a Reddit thread about the update. Usually, any new items added to the game will appear beforehand in an in-game announcement screen, but there is nothing of note listed as of now. However, with several days to go before the update, there is still ample time for Epic to reveal the item, which is likely to be sooner rather than later.

  • Epic Games tease Fortnitemares event in Fortnite Battle Royale for Halloween – Dexerto

Epic Games tease Fortnitemares event in Fortnite Battle Royale for Halloween Fortnite will be ramping up its Halloween theme soon, as Epic Games release the first teaser for an upcoming ‘Fortnitemares’ feature. Back in October 2017, when Fortnite Battle Royale was still in its infancy, the developers proved their passion for Halloween with special themed skins and weapons, such as the Skull Trooper and the Pumpkin rocket launcher. Now a year later, Fortnite is the most popular game in the world, and the Halloween time of year has arrived in game with various decorations and remakes of the Skull Trooper skins and others making a comeback. But it looks like Epic will be stepping it up once again with their Halloween festivities, revealing ‘Fortnitemares’ on October 20. Fortnitemares was previously a Save the World in event released last October, but this looks like it will be its first introduction to the battle royale portion of the game. There is no information at all yet as to what Fortnitemares will entail. It could be a new mode, a new set of skins and items, or something else entirely. The photo attached with the teaser, which was shared on Fortnite’s official Twitter certainly hints at new cosmetic items, with what appears to be a new skin wearing Calamity’s hat, with a cryptic poem: Costumes and dancing, Partner up, be wise. They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise. Costumes and dancing, Partner up, be wise. They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise. #Fortnitemares pic.twitter.com/vOasjQEj1k— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) October 20, 2018 The poem certainly hints at a game mode of some kind, likely duos (“partner up”), but perhaps some kind of sabotage mode, where your partner will turn on you (“They could be friendly, Or a ghoul in disguise“) The use of the term ‘Ghoul’ will also be of interest to those who are anticipating the return of the Ghoul Trooper skin, which is yet to feature in game for Halloween 2018.

For a game that is ever-evolving like Fortnite, it’s no surprise to see the hardware requirements change throughout its life. With DirectX 12 support slowly becoming the norm for PC titles, players will now be able to add Fortnite to that list as the next update will finally allow support for it. Epic Games explained this decision in a blog post on November 18, saying that to add the features that have in store for the future, the upgrade to DX12 is necessary. “In the future, we plan on adding features to Fortnite that are made possible by DX12,” DirectX12 is currently recommended for players who have decent hardware, as it’ll take advantage of newer graphical features for every game that might not be available on lower-end devices. Many games will have an option to switch between DX11 and DX12, and it sounds like Fortnite will have a similar option. Players will have to opt-in, and Epic says anyone who does so will provide valuable information and help iron out some bugs. Epic says players with high-end rigs will be able to experience better performance at the cost of potentially running into bugs, so there are pros and cons of opting in. The exciting part of the whole post is the fact that Fortnite has more features on the way that will need stronger PCs to implement. Players were already forced to upgrade their GPUs once, and they may have to once again. Near the end of every season, Epic likes to have a significant event that sums up the season. As we’ve seen lately, the events are becoming more and more intense, and it sounds like the developers have something even bigger up their sleeves. We’ll have to wait and see what the team has in store for the end of the first season of Chapter 2.

  • Epic Games tease more “exclusive” content coming for Fortnite Crew members – Dexerto

Epic Games tease more “exclusive” content coming for Fortnite Crew members Epic GamesAccording to a brand-new leaked survey, Epic Games have been asking players what they might want to see added as a feature to the Fortnite Crew subscription service, hinting that they’re open to changing up what’s included in the future. If you took a look at the Fortnite Crew subscription service and thought that it didn’t include enough or didn’t include much that you’d be interested in, Epic Games may be heeding those concerns. According to Fortnite leaker ‘iFireMonkey,’ a brand-new survey sent out to Fortnite players might indicate that the developer might be open to changing up what a Fortnite Crew subscription comes with. Specifically, the survey asks players to rank what benefits would be most or least important to be added to the service. The question itself features a wide range of choices. Some are simply new ways to purchase Fortnite Crew subscriptions, like the ability to buy the service in retail stores and multi-month options. There are also more gameplay-centric choices, including everything from custom matchmaking options to cosmetics that show off how long you’ve had a subscription. Beyond that, there’s even a choice for a monthly physical mailer with additional rewards outside of what’s given digitally. In a recent survey sent out to players from Epic Games, they ask you to rank what you feel is most to least important on being added to the Fortnite Crew. Image VIA @JimmysHotSauce pic.twitter.com/0JxBviaIgi — iFireMonkey (@iFireMonkey) January 15, 2021 Despite this development, it remains to be seen if the company will actually implement any changes. While this survey might indicate that the company is, at the very least, open to adding features to the service, it’s important to remember that it’s not a guarantee that they will. Currently, the service includes a free battle pass, an exclusive Crew pack, 1000 V-Bucks and an exclusive Member’s Only emote (at least for a limited time), so the implementation of any one of the features listed in the leaked survey would be a welcome addition, especially after its rocky start. For any updates regarding new features in the Fortnite Crew service and Fortnite in general, keep it locked to Dexerto.

  • Epic Games post surprising reaction to Fortnite players not taking damage in lava – Dexerto

Epic Games post surprising reaction to Fortnite players not taking damage in lava Epic GamesFortnite players have found a bug which allows them to walk right over lava without taking any damage, and Epic Games have been quick to issue a response. The developers, who made a whole host of map changes at the beginning of Season 8 on February 28, decided to add a brand new volcano point of interest near the old Wailing Woods site – featuring pools of what’s supposed to be deadly molten lava. However, another piece of new content added in the v8.00 patch can be used to walk across it like it’s an ordinary floor and it clearly shouldn’t be. The Conga emote, which some streamers have been using to escape the storm in the new season, allows players to dance and move at the same time – like no other animation in the game. Read More: How to find secret Fortnite Banner for Week 2 Season 8 Discovery challenge – Battle Star replaced – Another one of its unique abilities is that players can activate it and dance right across lava, according to footage posted to the Fortnite BR subreddit by PattyGamer05 – as seen below. After the bug started to rise in popularity on Reddit and more people started to notice the clip, so too did Epic’s Community Coordinator Sean Hamilton – who goes by the online name of MrPopoTFS. “While your dance moves are fire, stepping on lava should definitely still be causing damage,” Hamilton posted to the subreddit. “I’ve sent this off to our QA team for investigation.” Whether or not a fix is on the way for this issue remains to be seen, but it’s not the only strange bug fans have found since Season 8 begun. In fact, some players have been instantly eliminated just by landing at some locations in Fortnite. While some fans will be hoping for a fix for some issues, there’s no doubt that others will enjoy dancing across the lava. Watch out for other players, though! You can’t use your weapon at the same time as the emote.

  • Epic Games suing Fortnite leaker who leaked Chapter 2 trailer – Dexerto

Epic Games suing Fortnite leaker who leaked Chapter 2 trailer Epic Games, developers of the hugely popular Fortnite Battle Royale, are taking legal action against Ronald Sykes, a playtester they allege leaked the game’s ‘Chapter 2’ storyline. On October 13, Fortnite was engulfed by a black hole; throwing fans into confusion and seeing the culmination of ten series of the incredibly popular building battle royale. On October 15, the black hole receded and Fortnite Chapter 2 was introduced, seeing players thrown into a brand new world. However, a few days prior to the black hole engulfing the entire game, leaks suggested that Fortnite Chapter 2 was on its way. Epic allege that a “user experience tester” named Ronald Sykes was the reason for these leaks. Polygon reports that the lawsuit was filed in North Carolina on October 25, and that Sykes violated the terms of the non-disclosure agreement he signed with the company. Lawyers for Epic Games state that: “He (Sykes) did so at the expense of Epic and those in the Fortnite community who were anxiously awaiting the new season of Fortnite only to have some of Epic’s planned surprises spoiled by Sykes’ leaks.” Epic said in the lawsuit that: “As a direct result of Sykes’ breach of his contractual obligations under his NDA, Epic has sustained and will continue to sustain damages in an amount to be determined.” Sykes apparently played Fortnite‘s new content in late September, a couple of weeks prior to its wide release. However, he is alleged to have been tweeting leaks regularly from his account, including undisclosed gameplay details such as the ability of players to swim in Fortnite Chapter 2. He is even claimed to have tweeted an image of the game’s new map – the first time in its short history it has moved away from the setting in which it started. • Epic Games sued for making Fortnite too “addictive” by Canadian parents – Dexerto

Epic Games sued for making Fortnite too “addictive” by Canadian parents Epic GamesA Quebec judge is letting parents move forward with a class-action lawsuit against Epic Games for making Fortnite too “addictive.” Quebec Superior Court Justice Sylvain Lussier has authorized a lawsuit against Epic Games that had been originally filed in 2019 alleging that is so addictive it can cause real-world problems. According to CTV, the parents of three children who spent thousands of dollars playing Fortnite claim that the battle royale caused their kids to suffer psychological, physical, and financial harm. The parents say that their kids spent hundreds of dollars on V-Bucks, sometimes without their knowledge and would even have “panic attacks” over the game. One of the kids was frequently up until 3AM playing over 7,781 hours of the game in under two years. Another is said to have played for 59,954 minutes. Quebec judge lets parents sue Fortnite creator The firm representing the parents, Calex, even cited addiction specialist Anita Ghadia-Smith who compared Fortnite to cocaine. Despite the lawsuit moving forward, the judge has said that there’s “no certainty” that Fortnite is deliberately addictive. However, as he wrote in his ruling, it “does not preclude the possibility that the game is in fact addictive and that its creator and distributor are presumed to know this.” Epic Games will have 30 days to appeal the decision or they will be forced to defend the allegations in court. Damages will be determined later, but the parents are seeing “restitution” for V-bucks purchases kids made when they were under 18 years old.

  • Epic Games sues Apple & Google in UK over Fortnite removals – Dexerto

Epic Games sues Apple & Google in UK over Fortnite removals Epic Games / Pexels, @EkaterinaFollowing litigation over Fortnite’s app store removals by Apple and Google in the United States of America, Epic Games have officially mounted lawsuits against both tech companies in the United Kingdom, as well. In August 2020, Epic Games added their own payment process to Fortnite’s mobile offerings so that Apple and Google’s cellphone and tablet users could purchase in-game items at a discounted price. This discount was specifically enabled by the new process, which bypassed each company’s transaction fees. Unsurprisingly, as the payment method was in direct violation of both the App Store and Play Store’s Terms of Services, each company subsequently removed Fornite from their offerings. And, expecting this, Epic Games responded by launching lawsuits against the companies in the U.S. and Australia. Now, the makers behind the world’s most popular third-person battle royale have tripled down and mounted legal action against both tech giants in the U.K. Citing violations of competition laws, Epic Games’ legal case in the U.K. is very similar to the ones already made in other countries. And, immediately contested, Apple and Google’s responses have proved similar, as well. As discussed by BBC News, Epic have officially submitted documents to the Competition Appeal Tribunal in the UK. The allegations suggest a monopolistic abuse of power by each company that centers around competitive restrictions to app store and payment processing options, as well as unfair payment fees. Typically, those fees come at about 30 percent of all purchases, although exact figures differ depending on company and app. Fortnite is obviously one of the biggest games in the entire world, so almost one-third of their sales on mobile means hefty earnings. But, like their other lawsuits, Epic allege that this is about more than their own profits. The company demands that Apple and Google begin allowing software developers to institute their own payment-processing systems and options to be downloaded outside of the App and Play stores. So far, Apple and Google have both replied similarly in the U.K. situation, claiming that they are open to reintroducing Fortnite to their mobile stores but that they deny any violation of competitiveness. Dexerto will continue to monitor the legal cases in each country, providing updates whenever these prolonged legal disputes begin reaching their conclusions.

  • Epic Games sued by YouTube choreographer for “stolen” Fortnite emote – Dexerto

Epic Games sued by YouTube choreographer for “stolen” Fortnite emote Epic Games have been sued by choreographer Kyle Hanagami over a Fortnite emote. Hanagami copyrighted the dance used for the “It’s Complicated” emote, and believes the mega developer is infringing on it. Another day, another maker trying to bring Epic Games to account for taking their dance moves. LA-based Kyle Hanagami is not the first choreographer to accuse Epic Games of stealing their moves, but he is the latest. Hanagami, who went out to copyright a specific dance used in a 2017 dance class, believes Epic has infringed on that right. The class, uploaded to YouTube, features a repeated movement hook during the chorus of Charlie Puth’s “How Long”. Hanagami claims it bears an almost exact similarity to the moves used in the “It’s Complicated” emote in Fortnite. The video that the dance was taken from has been viewed more than 35 million times since it’s release, and is even referenced as inspiration for the emote on Fornite’s unoffical wiki. “The dance is partially based off of choreography by Kyle Hanagami for Charlie Puth’s song “How Long”. A follow up video has been uploaded by Hecht Partners, Kyle’s lawyers in this case, potentially as use for evidence in the copyright claim. The follow up video, titled “Fortnite Infringement of Kyle Hanagami Choreography” focus on the extreme similarity’s between the two dances. It included superimposed images of the emote and the section of dance in question. After watching the video it’s hard not to see that the two movements are strikingly close. But both pieces continue on after the disputed movements in different manners, and at this stage copyrights for movement are a murky undiscovered territory. Back in 2018, a series of lawsuits on this exact topic were thrown out by the Supreme Court citing the idea that the entirety of a dance piece must be copied for it to infringe upon copyright. If Kyle Hanagami and his team win the case it’ll be a world first, with the team behind Fortnite potentially having to radically change the way they go about creating new emotes. At the moment though, the Hanagami’s lawyers are only requesting a court order to prevent the “It’s Complicated” emote from being used in game, legal fees and unspecified damages.

  • Epic Games slammed for forcing Fortnite players in $2m tournament to use provided equipment – Dexerto

Epic Games slammed for forcing Fortnite players in $2m tournament to use provided equipment Professional Fortnite players and members of the esports community have criticized Epic Games for forcing players to use peripherals provided by the developer at the Fall Skirmish TwitchCon tournament. It was announced on Thursday, October 11 that anyone competing in the $2 million event would have to use keyboards and mice provided by Epic Games and Logitech, and would also be forced to play on a resolution dictated by the creators of the massive battle royale franchise. There was an immediate backlash from the esports community, with both fans and players taking to social media to chastise Epic Games for their decision. Team Liquid CEO Steve Arhancet called the ruling “disappointing” and asked the company to reconsider, stating: “You can’t ask kids who’s dream is to make it pro one day to change their gear nor an experienced pro to do the same. It becomes not about the game anymore, it’s how good someone can be using Logitech.” Forced equipment is disappointing. • Epic Games shut down claims of Fortnite pros paying to be unbanned – Dexerto

Epic Games shut down claims of Fortnite pros paying to be unbanned Epic GamesFortnite developers Epic Games have unequivocally rejected allegations of “unethical behavior” after documents arose that claimed to show professional players paying to have opponents banned and paying to be unbanned. Fortnite, despite its overwhelming success and longevity, has had its fair share of issues with cheating. The hacking problems have even permeated the game’s competitive community, with high-profile bans garnering plenty of attention in the past. A recent example was Swiss pro player Noahreyli, who received an instant ban back in May. It was quickly reversed, but it goes to demonstrate that no one is immune to allegations. Now, the competitive community has been embroiled in a scandal relating to pro players allegedly paying Epic Games employees to wrongfully ban opponents and to unban those found guilty of cheating. Epic Games accused of wrongful bans and unbans in Fortnite esports A new document – 63 pages in length and featuring a plethora of Discord and Twitter screenshots – claimed to reveal wrongful bans and unbans by Epic Games staff relating to a number of European Fortnite pros. Shared by community figure ‘CatGamerOP’, it quickly garnered social media attention on September 10, with a host of fans and players alike being drawn to the allegations. However, it attracted an equally quick rejection from Epic Games, whose Fortnite Competitive account said: “These claims are unequivocally false. We take any claim of unethical behavior seriously, and investigated these allegations internally with our threat analytics and competitive teams.” Their response finished: “We fully stand behind the hard work of our team to ensure competitive integrity for players.” Some members of the community did question why Epic even countenanced such a document but, with the devs taking quick action and offering such a brusque response, we can consider the matter closed for now.

  • Epic Games share update on future of Double Pump and Bouncers in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games share update on future of Double Pump and Bouncers in Fortnite Fortnite Battle Royale developers Epic Games have provided players with some key information about the potential return of throwback items. During their February 22 session of ‘Ask Me Anything’ on Reddit, representatives of Epic answered some questions from fans who wanted to know whether stuff from the past will ever make its way back into Fortnite, such as the Double Pump. The Double Pump was a mechanic that existed for several months in early 2018, and it allowed players to swap between Pump Shotguns during gunfights to fire them at a much higher rate than if they were just using one. It was ultimately deemed to be too overpowered and was nerfed with the addition of the short delay that now occurs when players try to swap between shotguns. As for whether it’ll ever return, Epic had some unfortunate news for fans of the Double Pump: “We do not have any plans to bring back the double shotgun. The main issue is that the high damage of the weapon is balanced by its slow rate of fire, and bypassing that weakness makes it too powerful.” Another throwback item that players asked about in the AMA was the Bouncer, which was a mobility trap item that allowed players to bounce in certain directions and quickly cover a lot of ground. The item was first introduced during Season 4 but was ultimately vaulted at the start of Season 6, much to the dismay of a large majority of the player-base who really liked the item. Once again, unfortunately for those players, Epic does not have any plans to bring back Bouncers, at least “not at the moment,” according to their answer on Reddit. “We tried to capture this vibe with our Unvaulted (Soon to be renamed Classic) LTM. We enjoy having the limited and old item set. It’s unlikely that we’ll have this available with the old map and old tuning values but glad folks are enjoying the LTM when it’s around.” Last but not least, players also asked about the possibility of Epic bringing back the Zapatron weapon. The Zapatron was an extremely powerful sniper rifle that only existed in Battle Royale for two days into Season 1 before it got vaulted. It appears as though this will also be filed under the ‘never coming back’ category as the rep playfully refused to even acknowledge the weapon’s existence.

  • Epic Games secretly buffed Tac Shotgun in Fortnite v11.11 update – Dexerto

Epic Games secretly buffed Tac Shotgun in Fortnite v11.11 update It appears that Epic Games have continued their trend of making unannounced changes to weapons in Fortnite Chapter 2, this time improving the Tactical Shotgun via the v11.11 update. With patch notes now a thing of the past in Fortnite Chapter 2, players are no longer told about the majority of what each weekly update adds, changes, or removes. It seems as though every week Epic make some sort of adjustment to one or more weapons, whether it be a buff or a nerf, but players are left to figure out what these changes are for themselves. In this week’s v11.11 update, which was released on November 13 due to a one-day delay, the developers chose the Tactical Shotgun as the weapon they wanted to adjust, more specifically the gold Legendary and purple Epic variants. In-game tests conducted by Reddit user ‘ZarteckNotbanned” discovered that Epic had considerably lowered that Legendary Tac’s pullout time, which is how long it takes for the weapon to be chosen, equipped from the inventory, and fired. According to the video, the gun’s pullout time has been decreased all the way down to 0.484 seconds, 0.016 faster than the blue Rare Tac, which takes 0.500 seconds to use. While the old exact pullout time of the gold Tac was never determined, this is a tell-tale sign that it has been reduced, since it would previously take longer than the blue version. In fact, that is one of the reasons why some players, including star controller player Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff, preferred the Rare variant over the Epic and Legendary. They complained that the two highest versions actually felt clunkier and slower to use than the blue one, which didn’t make sense since the purple and gold Tacs should really be better in every way. The exact pullout time of the purple Epic Tac Shotgun wasn’t included in the video, but it’s assumed that too was reduced to be lower than the Rare Tac. It’s not currently known whether it’s the same as the Legendary or slightly higher. This change could be enough to sway the opinion of NICKMERCS and other players who preferred the blue Tac, so we could see the superstar streamer start using the purple and gold versions a lot more. That said, however, it’s unlikely that these two weapons will be ranked higher than the Rare and Legendary Pump Shotguns anytime soon, since those still appear to have the faster pullout times and do a whole lot more damage to boot. As mentioned above, this is hardly the first time that Epic have made secret changes to weapons and items in Fortnite without alerting the player-base. Recently, they secretly nerfed shields, much to the chagrin of Mixer star Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, and also reduced the maximum number of Grenades players could carry in each inventory slot down from 10 to six. Previously, Epic made several waves of unannounced weapon adjustments, such as adjusting the reload times of several guns, implementing a buff for the Legendary Burst Assault Rifle, and, of course, adding the Harpoon Gun, the first new weapon in Chapter 2.

  • Epic Games share news on major Fortnite issue causing FPS drop when building – Dexerto

Epic Games share news on major Fortnite issue causing FPS drop when building Epic Games have addressed a critical bug in Fortnite Battle Royale that was causing players to experience a drop in their frames-per-second when using the game’s building interface. Epic put out a tweet via the official Fortnite Twitter account announcing that the bug had been fixed via a hotfix. Players will not need to do update their game as this fix has been implemented automatically and will take effect once a player returns to the lobby. This puts an end to an issue that was becoming a hindrance for many players, and became much more common after the release of the massive v7.20 update on January 15. While not as commonly experienced in regular gameplay, the FPS drop became more frequent and noticeable in modes like Creative or Playground, where players tend to build a lot more freely and in larger quantities. Unfortunately, a lot of players began complaining that as soon as they pulled out their building blueprint or phone, they would experience a heavy drop in their FPS, which would get worse the more they tried to build. We have released a hotfix to resolve FPS drops when entering building mode. Players will not be required to update, you will pick it up next time you return to the lobby. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) January 17, 2019 “When I have my pickaxe or a weapon out, I do not have any FPS drop, but as soon as I pull out the blueprint it becomes rather low, and when I start building it becomes unplayable.” This was one of the posts found on Epic’s forums after v7.20 went live, and it echoed the sentiments of many who were frustrated by the same issue. Reddit user ‘stonebros’ posted a video showing truly how bad this issue can get, calling it “beyond crippling” and explaining that it can range from minor to severe among different players. Luckily, Epic have acknowledged and quickly fixed this issue, removing a major annoyance from the game and allowing the players to build freely once more. The promptness with which the developers addressed this just goes to prove how dedicated they are to keeping the Fortnite gaming experience fresh and fun.

  • Epic Games made secret weapon changes in Fortnite’s v11.10 content update – Dexerto

Epic Games made secret weapon changes in Fortnite’s v11.10 content update Tests conducted in Fortnite have revealed that Epic Games made some unannounced changes to several weapons following the Content Update they released on November 5. By now it’s no longer a secret that Epic Games have completely stopped putting out patch notes for their weekly updates since the start of Fortnite Chapter 2. While some of the information is available on their community Trello page, a lot of what these patches and updates contain is being left to the players to discover and find out for themselves. The latest example of this is the update released on November 5, which is being dubbed the v11.10 Content Update, which was sent live without even a peep from the developers beforehand. Reddit user ‘Tornorr,’ who conducted some weapon tests in-game, determined that Epic made changes to the reload speeds of 14 different guns. The reload speeds of the first four rarities of the Assault Rifle were all increased, with only the gold SCAR left untouched. The Common, Uncommon, and Rare Pump Shotguns were also hit with the same change, although the Legendary Pump actually saw its reload time decreased. The biggest oddity is with the SMGs, which actually had the lower rarities buffed with lower reload times while the Epic and Legendary variants had an increase in that statistic. It seems counter-intuitive that Epic would make the rare variants have a slower time of reload than their lower counterparts, but that’s the route that Epic seem to have decided to take. The Epic and Legendary SMGs were both nerfed in terms of their reload speed. The emergence of these changes has really frustrated the community, with many players expressing their confusion about why Epic would keep things like this secret. While reload speed may not be the most important weapon statistic, it still plays a role, and it just seems odd information like this would be withheld, especially with a competitive FNCS season worth millions of dollars currently being played, hosted by Epic themselves. Of course, this isn’t even this first time in Chapter 2 the developers have made adjustments to guns without letting everyone know. Just a week prior, following the main v11.10 patch, the same Reddit user discovered a slew of changes made to various weapons, including things like damage, clip size, and reload speed. Ever since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2, Epic Games have completely stopped releasing patch notes for updates. As for the rest of the November 5 Content Update, even without any patch notes being released, players were able to determine some of the changes and additions that were made The biggest point was, of course, that the Harpoon Gun was added as a revamped version of the old Grappler, becoming the first new weapon/item to be added in Chapter 2. For more information about the Harpoon Gun and what else is new, be sure to check out our unofficial v11.10 Content Update patch notes.

  • Epic Games secretly buffed Campfires in Fortnite v11.20 update – Dexerto

Epic Games secretly buffed Campfires in Fortnite v11.20 update Epic Games made changes to the environmental Campfires on the Fortnite Chapter 2 map, and did not disclose it in the v11.20 update patch notes. Released on November 20, the v11.20 update in Fortnite was different than all of the other ones put out so far in Chapter 2 because of the fact that Epic actually decided to release patch notes for it. However, before the community got too excited by this change, players realized that, once again, the developers had implemented changes in the game without letting anyone know – not even in the patch notes. Read More: Two new revamped ARs leaked in Fortnite – Environmental Campfires can now be made to heal players faster thanks to a new mechanic that was discovered and posted on Reddit by user ‘Krashys.’ How the new Campfire mechanic works in Fortnite Chapter 2 Campfires still cost 300 wood to turn back on after they’ve already been used, but players now have the option of adding 30 more wood to “stoke” the fire and cause it to heal faster. In fact, as can be seen in the video above, the healing rate is increased considerably, as the player is able to go from just above 50% health all the way up to 100% in only a few seconds. This is obviously a huge change and one that may cause players to change up their in-game strategies, especially in competitive play. With so much healing available in such a short period of time, teams could be willing to go out of their way even more now to get to Campfires. Where are Campfires located on the Fortnite Chapter 2 map? It’s not clear exactly how many Campfires can be found on the new map, although YouTuber ‘Gamerpillar’ claims that there are 58 of them. His video, which we’ve included below, shows all of the points on the map where those 58 Campfires are located. What does this mean for Cozy Campfire items? It’s been well-documented that Epic Games drastically cut down the item pool in Fortnite with the release of Chapter 2, with the Cozy Campfire inventory item being one of many things that were removed. There has been no indication that they could be added to the game, and it’s probably even less likely now considering this new mechanic makes the environmental ones so much more powerful. However, one can never say never when it comes to Epic Games, so only time will tell if they choose to add Campfires back as items that players can pick up and carry around in their back pocket.

Epic Games score major victory in lawsuit vs Apple over Fortnite and App Store Epic GamesThe ongoing legal battle between Epic Games and Apple has reached a new stage in Australia, and it’s a win in Epic Games’ ongoing litigation. Mobile players are eager to once again play the game on their iOS devices, and now, a new ruling has just been laid in court in Australia which is a massive early victory for Epic Games over Apple. But, there’s still a long way to go. Epic secures major victory in court The court battle between the two major corporations has been ongoing within the United States, but also Australia – and there has been some progress made down under. Read More: How to get LeBron James Fortnite skin – The basic premise of how the legal action between Epic and Apple initially began, was due to the fact that Fortnite added a payment system within their mobile entity, which allowed players to negate the 30% App Store fee that players would normally have to pay. This trigger Apple to remove the game from their App Store, and thus, Epic sued the company and have been in legal battles in court since. However, Apple appealed the case in Australia, arguing that the case should be limited to the US District Court. However, Epic counter-appealed arguing that a separate trial in Australia is justified as it is a public policy concern. On July 9, the Federal Court in Australia ruled in favor of Epic Games, and the trial there will go ahead. Apple plans to appeal the decision however, with a spokesperson stating: “The initial decision in April from Australia’s Federal Court correctly ruled that Epic should be held to the agreement it made to resolve disputes in California. We respectfully disagree with the ruling made today and plan to appeal.” Both parties are still waiting for the judgment to be laid down within the US courts, which should come in the next couple of months.

  • Epic Games reveals several bug fixes for Fortnite v7.30 update – Dexerto

Epic Games reveals several bug fixes for Fortnite v7.30 update Epic Games have announced that they’ve release some fixes for Fortnite‘s latest v7.30 content update, after players were experiencing some annoying bugs. These changes have been made just two days after the initial patch was released, with the developers acting quickly to resolve some of the issues that have cropped up since. In a post to the Fortnite BR subreddit, Epic released details of changed being made in Battle Royale, Save the World and Creative mode too. This new client update, v7.30.1, has fixed issues where players were being stuck on loading screens in Battle Royale, as well as an issue where people were continually having ‘Connection Lost’ notifications pop up on-screen, despite having solid internet connection. For mobile players, who received a significant boost in the original v7.30 update, two more changes were made. The new hotfix put an end to players only having to use the ‘Reset Edit’ function to edit through structures, and the “keybind widget for quickbar slots not displaying on the HUD when using a controller” has also been tweaked. You might have noticed that the post doesn’t include any mention of a resolution for current ADS exploits in Fortnite at the moment, nor does it mention anything about issues where FPS is having a direct impact on aim assist. Read More: Fortnite Season 7 Week 9 challenges and how to complete them – Sneaky Snowman, Golden Balloons, Time Trials – However, there’s a reason for that. Epic Games have confirmed that those issues will be dealt with in the game’s next patch, which will be v7.40.

  • Epic Games roll out hotfix to change the Mounted Turret in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games roll out hotfix to change the Mounted Turret in Fortnite The Mounted Turret in Fortnite has not even been out for two days, but Epic Games have already rolled out an update to nerf the trap item, nerfing it significantly. It didn’t take long for players to quickly find the most powerful techniques to using the Mounted Turret, including stacking two at a time to avoid cooldowns. However, one such exploit quickly went viral on social media, as players realized they could use the 5000 HP that the Turret has to great effect. Fortnite Season 6, Week 8 challenges and how to complete themNow, instead of 5000, the Turret floor will only have 1000 health, and the Turret itself has been reduced from 800 health to only 400. The reduction to only 400 health for the body of the Turret is very significant, meaning that a few accurate shots from a powerful weapon will destroy it. We’re releasing a hotfix that has adjustments to the Mounted Turret in Battle Royale. Turret Floor health has been reduced from 5000 to 1000. Turret health has been reduced from 800 to 400.— Fortnite (@FortniteGame) November 15, 2018 The Mounted Turret is certainly a powerful trap, but these adjustments should hopefully help it fit more evenly into the game’s balance, without making it a crutch, as it was especially powerful in Solos matches. The addition was likely intended to be put to best use in the new Food Fight LTM, which gives teams 5 minutes to prepare their defences before they fight 50v50, and this is where a well placed Mounted Turret will excel.

  • Epic Games reveals next season’s Fortnite Championship Series format – Dexerto

Epic Games reveals next season’s Fortnite Championship Series format Epic GamesFortnite Battle Royale competition would be moving from the standard trios format to a four-player mode during Epic’s September 22 stream following the conclusion of Season X’s final series. “For you trios out there, you better find yourself a fourth, because the next round of FNCS competition will be squads,” broadcast host Zeke ‘Zekimus’ Mateus revealed as the Championship Series broadcast wrapped up. The squad-composition change comes after Season X ran for five weeks and into finals with Fortnite’s standard trios system. A host of Twitch stars like Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney, Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore, and Thomas ‘72hrs’ Mulligan competed in the early weeks of the tournament, though that high-profile trio went their separate ways ahead of the finals due to an ongoing feud over $140,000 in ad revenue. Zexrow, MackWood, and yung calculator were crowned North American East champions, while Tschiinken, Stompy, and aqua emerged victorious in the European grand final. Overall, there were seven trios that claimed the title of regional champions this week. Some FNCS players also clearly already knew about Epic’s impending change. World Cup solos champion Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf proved he was one ‘in the know’ player, announcing who would be making up his four-player squad for next season minutes after the official reveal. Bugha confirmed he would be competing alongside Williams ‘Zayt’ Aubin, Rocco ‘Saf’ Morales, and new recruit Stretched, all of whom have been streaming Epic’s battle royale title alongside the Fortnite star in recent weeks. The reaction to Epic’s bombshell announcement was mixed across social media, with many expressing their concerns over the mayhem that four-player teams will bring, as well as the server stress that may eventuate from the added squad players. “You could just tell from watching the trios this weekend how laggy it was, and that’ll be a lot worse in squads,” one fan on Reddit said. “To be honest I just enjoyed watching Duos a lot more than Trios, can’t see why I’d feel any different with squads.” It wasn’t all doom and gloom, however, with some players excited by the changing format next season. “That’s actually fire,” one said, while others began formulating team compositions they’d love to see: “OG Liquid please.” Whether or not fans are keen on the change, it should lead to some interesting new team compositions in the near future, as well as a healthy helping of exciting chaos in the FNCS broadcasts – exactly what Epic is likely looking for to keep their competitive scene fresh.

  • Epic Games reveal why Fortnite’s Glider Redeploy is returning – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal why Fortnite’s Glider Redeploy is returning One of Fortnite’s most unpopular mechanics is set to return to the battle royale title, as Epic Games announced that Glider Redeploy will make an appearance in the V7.20 update. The mechanic allowed players to pull out their glider any time they jumped or fell off of a structure, meaning that fall damage was essentially removed from the game. Glider Redeploy was an extremely unpopular addition to the game, with many calling it overpowered and saying that it ruined Fortnite. Developers Epic Games eventually relented and took it out of the base gamemode, however it remained in Creative Mode and some Limited Time Modes. Now, Glider Redeploy is returning in the form of an item, with Epic Games stating that the item is there to “provide mobility and utility, but in a form that can be balanced and iterated upon.” The Gliders item will take up an inventory spot and will be found in normal loot sources such as chests, supply drops and as floor loot. The item will take up a slot in your inventory, but doesn’t need to be actively selected to use. The Glider will have a limited number of charges much like Balloons or a Rift-to-go, but Epic Games have yet to reveal how many it will have. We’re bringing back Glider Redeploy in v7.20 as a new item, find out more information in our blog https://t.co/JU6RyXMxz5 — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) January 14, 2019 Epic Games say that “an alternative implementation will help in solving some of the negatives” that fans had previously found in the mechanic, and state that they will be watching the item closely and adjusting as necessary. Fortnite’s V7.20 update is expected to drop on either January 15 or 16, however it’s not yet been confirmed which day it will go live.

  • Epic Games Reveals Longest Range Shots and Most Eliminations From First Four Weeks of Fortnite ‘Summer Skirmish’ – Dexerto

Epic Games Reveals Longest Range Shots and Most Eliminations From First Four Weeks of Fortnite ‘Summer Skirmish’ Epic Games’ $8 million Fortnite ‘Summer Skirmish’ is an eight week long series of competitions, with each week featuring a different set of participants and game format. With the Week 5 of the competition already complete, Epic has released a report recapping the first four weeks of action. There are several statistics from the Weeks 1-4 that are mentioned in this midway recap that are noteworthy. First of all, the two longest range eliminations were done by Team SoloMid content creator ‘HighDistortion’ and ‘InTheLittleWood’ respectively. – The longest range elimination was scored by HighDistortion, with a 267m knockout of MoNsTcR with a Scoped Assault Rifle. – The longest range sniper elimination was scored by InTheLittleWood on Danzhizzle, with a 247m hunting rifle shot. In terms of total eliminations, the highlight of the first half of Summer Skirmish was in Week 3, with three pairs of teammates “dominating the field” with 24 eliminations. In Week 3, three pairings were able to dominate the field, topping the group with 24 eliminations – SKT Ghoul and Ghost DMO – Mickalow and Robi62 – Greyfox and mouZ Mops. Another statistic of note was the disparity between the elimination leaders from each of the regions during the Week 4 tournament. The NA leader, ‘NotVivid,’ had 10 less eliminations than ‘VP Jamside,’ who paced the EU group that week. Week 4 saw a sizable gap between the elimination leaders from each region. Day One was very tightly packed at the top. On Friday NotVivid was able to edge out the pack with 16 eliminations. On Saturday, VP Jamside went off, wracking up an impressive 26 eliminations across the 9 games, averaging just short of 3 eliminations per match. The reason why these statistics are highlighted in this midway report is because Epic wanted to properly shout out some of the Summer Skirmish participants, since certain in-game numbers can be hard to achieve and/or maintain with lobbies full of great players. A general note about statistics… it’s really difficult to pull off consistent great placements or high elimination games with a lobby full of some of Fortnite’s best players. We wanted to properly salute the talented players that have participated each week. The entirety of the ‘Summer Skirmish Midway Recap’ can be viewed on the Epic Games website here.

  • Epic Games reveal when planes will be finally removed from Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal when planes will be finally removed from Fortnite EPIC GAMESEver since the X-4 Storming was introduced to Fortnite on December 6, Epic Games haven’t stopped hearing the end of the arguments about the plane’s inclusion in the battle royale. But that might end soon. During a Reddit AMA on February 22, Fortnite’s Design Lead Eric Williamson confirmed that the X-4 Stormwing would be vaulted at the start of Season 8. The announcement came to the surprise of many since, although controversial for the pro community, the X-4 has become an increasingly popular vehicle for casual players to have fun in. The Stormwing’s announcement and build up to its release had players cheering for a fresh element that would take the battle toward the skies. But the implementation soon had some people using unfair tactics with the plane to camp in the sky until the final circle. The X-4 also brought a slew of bugs to the game ranging from instant deaths, making items unusable, and many more. Very shortly after release players started to turn against the Stormwing, asking for it to leave the game quicker than it arrived. Planes will be removed from Fortnite in Season 8. I’m so happy. — Jack “”CouRage”” Dunlop (@CouRageJD) February 22, 2019 Williamson’s announcement was met with polarizing fervor from the community, as some cheered that the planes were finally going to be grounded while others were disappointed that the developer’s were giving in to a “vocal minority.” “You guys are listening way too much to the vocal minority,” Reddit user 2roK said. “I feel like so much fun stuff was vaulted lately and no end in sight. Do you realize you slowly kill the game for casuals by catering so much to the competitive players lately?” With Season 8 fast approaching, Williamson advised players to get in their last runs before the next era in Fortnite locks away the Stormwing for a while.

  • Epic Games reveal how long Fortnite account merging has been delayed – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal how long Fortnite account merging has been delayed Epic GamesWhen Epic Games announced they would be taking Fortnite accounts cross-platform, and allow players to share them between PC, Xbox One and PS4, players were pretty excited, but now it seems like they’ll have to wait until next year. Epic Games set the date for cross-platform play sometime in November, in a move that was widely hailed a huge step forward for gaming in general. Players can currently play with friends on other platforms, but they have to be friends on Epic Games, not just PlayStation Network or Xbox live. Epic Games released a statement on November 29 regarding the delay on merging accounts: In our previous blog about Account Linking we stated: “In November, we’re going to release an “account merging” system so you can combine multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic item purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.” Due to some ongoing technical concerns, we will be delaying the Account Merge feature until early next year. We want to make sure that this process is thoroughly tested and working properly before releasing it to those of you currently looking to transfer purchases from other accounts to your primary account. We’ll be sure to update you as we get closer to the release of the feature, which will include a web page on launch to help guide you through the flow! 600 So, it looks like Fortnite players will have to wait until next year to have their multiple accounts combined. Even with the delay, players are still looking forward to the day when all their unlocked items are available on all platforms.

  • Epic Games reveal shocking number of accounts banned during World Cup qualifiers – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal shocking number of accounts banned during World Cup qualifiers With just one qualifier tournament for the World Cup in the books so far, already a stunning amount of Fortnite Battle Royale accounts have been banned for cheating. April 13-14 marked the first of 10 weekend qualifier tournaments for the World Cup that’s set to take place in July, and a lot of the talk has been surrounding all of the potential cheating that was going on. In an effort to ensure that the community is aware of their efforts to counter any rule-breaking, Epic released a post called ‘Competitive Game Integrity‘ on April 19, in which they went into detail about the actions they’ve taken. Shocking number of accounts banned According to their post, Epic have now banned 1,221 accounts in the aftermath of the Week One Solos qualifier tournament that concluded April 14. 1,163 accounts were given 14 day bans for playing on more than one region, with 196 of them having placed high enough to earn prize money, all of which will now be forfeited. 48 accounts were banned for seven days for being shared between players, nine of which were also prize winners and will have to forfeit the money they earned. An addition eight were banned for teaming, which included one accounts that placed high enough to earn prize money, which will now be returned to Epic. One account was given a permanent ban from playing Fortnite Battle Royale completely, and this was because the a cheat software was detected in the Semifinal stage of the tournament. Last but not least, one account was given a 72-hour ban from competitive modes for having intentionally disconnected from the game to avoid giving points to another player. Epic take a stance against cheating With so much on the line in the qualifier tournaments, both in terms of qualification for the $30 million World Cup and the $1 million individual prize pool each weekend, Epic have rightfully taken an aggressive stance against cheating. As the variety of bans listed above suggest, the punishments handed down to offenders is based on the severity of their offense, with penalties including just a warning, a temporary competitive ban, a permanent ban from competitive play, or a permanent ban from Fortnite Battle Royale outright. As part of this anti-cheating efforts, Epic have devised algorithms that detect when individual players are found illegally teaming with one another in competitive modes, hence the eight banned accounts. Furthermore, Epic have confirmed that they monitor server replays of competitive matches to ensure that the integrity of the tournaments is maintained. The next qualifier tournament, which will be the second of 10 total, will be held April 20-21 and will be of the Duos variety, open to all players who have reached the Champion Division within the Arena Mode.

Epic Games announce changes to looting in Fortnite Battle Royale Epic GamesEpic Games, developers of the incredibly popular Fortnite Battle Royale, have announced changes coming to looting in-game, as they look to give players more control over their looting setup. Recently, Epic have received community criticism regarding their communication (or lack thereof) in terms of contextualizing changes they make to their game. As part of the response to this, and increased efforts to improve their communication with players, they have been posting regular updates on their website to provide more clarity around adjustments they make. In the most recent of these updates, posted on May 17, they announced that they are making changes to the in-game looting system. The changes concern the ‘Hold to Swap’ feature. “We initially added this feature to help improve early game looting, making it easier to get weapons & items in the slots that you wanted,” Epic explained. “We’ve fixed some bugs and iterated on this feature since its release, but recognize that some players may not want it enabled at all.” Given the acknowledgement that some players may not want this feature, they announced that the next update will make it a choice, using a settings option, so players can opt in or opt out of the new looting mechanism. The announcement also gave more information on the glitches which caused vehicles to be disabled during the World Cup Qualifiers, as well as issues with disconnection in Duos and an upcoming ‘Ask Me Anything’ on Reddit. The post is a step in the right direction, following months of growing discontent among players, particularly in the competitive community, as Epic aim to have the game it’s best possible state for the $30 million tournament.

  • Epic Games reveal big changes coming in v8.50 Fortnite Battle Royale update – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal big changes coming in v8.50 Fortnite Battle Royale update Fortnite Battle Royale players are desperate to see many bugs and issues resolved in the future with the World Cup fast approaching – here’s what to expect in the upcoming v8.50 patch. Fortnite update causes backlash from players The developer has been heavily criticized in recent weeks following a string of updates that caused outrage in both the casual and competitive community – starting with the removal of the popular siphon mechanic, before a ban on stretched resolution was implemented. Epic have shown no signs that the update will be reverted, despite a constant barrage of abuse on social media from players who are far from happy with the current state of the game, after numerous bugs were introduced in the recent v8.40 update. Epic confirm ‘ghost’ audio bug fixes in v8.50 Eager to address the issues, Epic posted a thread on the FortniteBR subreddit to gain feedback from the community on what problems were occurring in-game and have confirmed many will be fixed in the next update. Firstly, a sound bug, which was first experienced in the v8.30 update, will finally be resolved. Players reported hearing sounds such as a player being sniped or pulling out a shotgun when in fact no-one was near them. Trap placement patched in v8.50 update Players who commonly use spike traps to deal significant damage to their opponents will be glad to hear that the recent bug which caused the item to be placed in the middle tile of a box instead of the wall will finally be patched. The issue was causing players to lose health despite being on the opposite side to the trap and also allowed some players to wrongly escape danger, but there should be no such issue after the latest patch is implemented according to Epic. The mechanic intended to allow players to swap the weapon they were currently holding by holding down the use button instead of tapping it, however, the feature didn’t work as intended but the upcoming fix should resolve the issue. 700 There should also be a reduction in the number of ‘ghost’ shotgun shots which has plagued the game in recent weeks as Epic confirmed that hit markers will revert to server-side in the future update. The changes will be welcomed by the community who are eager to see as many bugs fixed as possible with the Fortnite World Cup fast approaching. Updated: April 21, 2019 – 11:02AM EST

Fortnite v14.20 bug fixes Heroes Park and Ghost House don’t count as discovered locations after discovering them – Fishing spots can disappear on PC with effects set to low – Inconsistent fishing spot visibility on Nintendo Switch and Android – Redline Ramirez’s Commander Perk doesn’t work properly with charged Sniper Rifles (Save the World) – On top of those, the devs have also got a handful of bugs that are set to be fixed later down the line. This includes the slow glider speed after redeploying bug that was supposed to be fixed in the v13.40 update. There is also a fix coming in the future for the auto fire setting not working on Android devices when aiming at Gorgers. Epic also still have a fix listed as coming in a future update for replays not saving on PS4, but this has been labeled as such for quite some time now.

  • Epic Games reveal all the audio issues being fixed in Season 9 – Dexerto

Epic Games reveal all the audio issues being fixed in Season 9 Epic GamesWith Fortnite Season 9 on the horizon, Epic Games revealed some of the bugs that will be fixed with the new patch including numerous audio issues. The teasers have officially begun for the upcoming Fortnite season which indicates it’s right on the horizon. As players speculate about what the theme will be, we have some concrete changes to look at. There’s always a lot of hype as a new season approaches as it usually means a variety of changes, but at this point in Fortnite’s life there are a lot of bugs that need to be looked at. Several audio fixes are coming With the start of Season 9, Epic Games revealed the fixes that will be coming that will hopefully alleviate some of the community’s issues with audio in Fortnite. There have been complaints for quite some time now about footsteps, especially while inside a building where you can’t tell if they’re coming from above or below. With Tilted Towers being completely wiped out with the last event, players don’t have to worry about having this issue quite as much but this will still be a problem in late-game build battles where players are all over the place. Epic Games says these fixes are coming as a direct result of community feedback, showing that they still do listen to the community with certain things. There probably won’t be a revert though so you can let go of that pipe dream. There’s a lot to look forward to with this update and you can read through the full list of changes below, as laid out by their post on Reddit. You can look forward to these changes and more with the official 9.0 patch when Season 9 drops. • Epic Games responds to major issues in Fortnite, including Xbox One crashes and Weekly Challenge bugs – Dexerto

Epic Games responds to major issues in Fortnite, including Xbox One crashes and Weekly Challenge bugs Epic Games has confirmed that its aware of a number of current issues in Fortnite, with players being ejected from sessions and brought back to the lobby. Several posts from fans to the Fortnite BR subreddit have brought the developer’s attention to some frustrating problems that people are experiencing in the game right now. These include Xbox One players being sent back to the lobby during games, voice chat difficulties on PlayStation 4 platform where players can’t speak to each other in-game, and bugs which have been found in the weekly challenges, where players need to use a X-4 Stormwing plane five times. Members of the Fortnite team have responded to these three posts on Reddit, with some offering more clearer answers than others. After one Reddit user claimed that the ‘Destroy five flying X-4 Stormwing planes’ part of Fortnite’s weekly challenges was bugged – preventing them from completing them – Epic said: “We’re aware of that and have a fixed planned for a future update”. While the developer has addressed these two issues, there’s no official word on PS4 voice chat problems at the time of writing. However, they did ask for more details about it in a Reddit thread.

  • Epic Games responds to Microsoft’s ‘misleading’ Fortnite bundle packaging – Dexerto

Epic Games responds to Microsoft’s ‘misleading’ Fortnite bundle packaging Epic Games has reacted to concerns surrounding the packaging of the Xbox One S Fortnite bundle, which could have misled some people into thinking they were getting more bang for their buck than they actually were. A message crossposted to the Fortnite BR subreddit on December 26 shows that the bundle’s packaging advertizes it as the full game. In reality, the Save the World mode wasn’t actually part of the deal. “It’s still happening. Microsoft’s Fortnite bundle says it comes with the “full game” and 2000 V-Bucks, but it only comes with a download code for Battle Royale and the V-Bucks,” the post from readit_later stated. “This is misleading advertising and preys on the parents who don’t know any better.” In reaction to that, Epic_Boomer provided a response from the developer which was very much in line with concerns from the public. Read More: Fortnite player comes up with three genius ideas that would make playing Squads easier and more fun – “We agree that the messaging on the Xbox One S Fortnite Bundle was unclear and so will be granting free access to Save the World for those who purchased the bundle,” the statement reads. “We are going to begin identifying players who have claimed the Eon Bundle and will be granting their accounts access to Save the World. We will also make sure that all future players who claim the Eon Bundle will be granted access to Save the World moving forward.” Some buyers may have realized that Save the World wasn’t part of the deal after activating the code, and Epic says those people will be granted an additional 2,000 V-Bucks for their troubles. • Epic Games responds to rapper 2 Milly’s lawsuit over Fortnite Dance – Dexerto

Epic Games responds to rapper 2 Milly’s lawsuit over Fortnite Dance Epic GamesWhile emotes have been a massive part of Fortnite’s success, it has also landed Epic Games in plenty of hot water over the last few months. Fortnite has been targeted by various lawsuits over the use of emotes and dances in the game and now Epic Games has fired back at the allegations. Now, an attorney representing Epic Games has put out a statement on Terrence ‘2 Milly’ Ferguson’s suit that makes it clear Epic isn’t going to back down from this dance battle. “No one can own a dance step,” Dale Cendali, an attorney for Epic wrote in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Copyright law is clear that individual dance steps and simple dance routines are not protected by copyright, but rather are building blocks of free expression, which are in the public domain for choreographers, dancers, and the general public to use, perform, and enjoy.” Read More: Fortnite v7.40 update: Infantry Rifle, Crossbow, Rocket Launcher, release time and early patch notes – Obviously, Epic doesn’t feel they did anything wrong under the law when they used the dance, but now it’s up to the courts to decide. • Epic Games responds to frustrating Fortnite Season 8 bugs on console – Dexerto

Epic Games responds to frustrating Fortnite Season 8 bugs on console Epic GamesEpic Games have responded to suggestions that Fortnite has become “nearly unplayable” on console, with a number of frustrating bugs appearing since the launch of Season 8. The developer, which introduced a whole host of new changes to the Fortnite map with the v8.00 update on February 28, has been informed by numerous members of the game’s online community that there are new issues with the game’s performance. While many PlayStation 4 players insist that there are no issues on that platform, there seems to be problems with frame rate, sensitivity, aiming and building on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch since the patch went live. “[The] game is so poorly optimised and performance is at an all time low,” Reddit user AzukiFN posted to the Fortnite BR subreddit. The redditor claimed that not only do weapons slow down during gunfights, with frame rate drops, but building and aiming isn’t performing as normal too. “Season 7 was at least playable, though not ideal it was quite acceptable, but the state of season 8 on console has made this game well and truly unenjoyable,” they added. Epic have since issues an official response to these problems, advising players to send them more details to help developers understand the concerns better. “Just wanted to hop in here and an let y’all know we’re aware of your reports,” JustMooney1 responded. “Any more specifics on what you’re exactly experiencing will help, but we’ll keep you updated as we dig in!” If you’re experiencing problems with the performance of Fortnite Battle Royale right now, head over to Epic’s Community Coordinator profile FreightTrainUSA on Reddit and send screenshots or screen recordings of the issue to them directly. At the moment, there’s no indication as to when the developer expects to resolve these problems, but we will keep you updated on the situation.

  • Epic Games responds to bugged Fortnite Out of Time Mission rewards – Dexerto

Epic Games responds to bugged Fortnite Out of Time Mission rewards Epic GamesThe Out of Time Missions have been available in Fortnite Battle Royale this week, but players have been experiencing bugs with getting their rewards. Now, Epic Games have responded and acknowledged the issues. The Overtime challenges, also known as the ‘Out of Time’ missions, were brought in to grace the end of Season X for players to earn even more cosmetics before Season 11 starts. Season X is due to finish on Sunday, October 13 with one of the game’s renowned in-game events – this time, a live rocket launch is expected. However, some players have encountered issues with the Out of Time missions not rewarding them properly before we even reach that point. One of the rewards for the challenges is a red variant of the Eternal Voyager skin. Along with the skin, players can unlock a red variant of the Cosmic Cleavers pickaxe and Pixel Pilot glider. In order to unlock them, players need to complete five of the Overtime challenges. Players have been reporting, though, that the glider and pickaxe are not unlocking after completing the challenges, and Epic addressed the issue in a Reddit post. User EmptyTux, who is the Epic Games Community Coordinator, replied to a post about the issue saying: “Thanks for the report! We’re working on a fix to grant the harvesting tool and glider variant to everyone who unlocked the red outfit style.” There’s not a lot of time left for Epic Games to fix the issues with the cosmetics, but fans can at least rest easier now that the issue has been acknowledged and a possible tweak is on the way. It seems that even if they don’t get the predicament sorted before Season 11 starts, every player who earned the glider and pickaxe will be getting them in their inventory regardless.

  • Epic Games respond to strange Fortnite Chug Splash glitch – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to strange Fortnite Chug Splash glitch Epic GamesEpic Games have responded to a brand-new glitch found in Fortnite, as players have discovered an issue with the Chug Splash item already. The new consumable item, added in the v9.30 update, allows players to heal others by tossing the Chug Splash near them. This can be particularly helpful for players that have been knocked down and look to be on the brink of elimination. Members of the game’s online community have been discussing some instances where that’s not actually the case though, and in some spots the healing tool doesn’t seem to work whatsoever. In a post to the FortniteBR subreddit, /u/scatush highlighted an issue whereby players who have equipped a bush in the game can’t be healed by the Chug Splash. Read More: How to play Prop Hunt in Fortnite – “You can’t get health from Chug Splash if you’re in a bush,” the redditor posted, along with some footage of the bug. Judging by the comments from other players, that doesn’t seem to be the only problem with the new item. Other users claimed that the Chug Splash also doesn’t work inside the large corn fields found at Fatal Fields in the south of the island. The good news is that Epic Games have already made it clear that this is something that they’re aware of, responding: “We’re currently looking into this issue. Thank you for pointing it out,” leaving fans hopeful that the developers are starting work on a fix. One Reddit user claimed that while the Chug Splash doesn’t work inside the bush, when others are tossing them in their teammates direction, the bug doesn’t stop the player using the bush feature from using the healing item. Nevertheless, minor glitch or not, fans will be hoping that the issue is resolved promptly.

  • Epic Games respond to yet more issues with Fortnite Turbo Building – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to yet more issues with Fortnite Turbo Building Epic GamesEpic Games have addressed claims that there are still major issues with Fortnite‘s Turbo Building, despite the developers adjusting the mechanic following complaints from the community. Epic Games had the community in uproar on Tuesday, August 27, when they announced major changes to Turbo Building which saw the space between object placement rise from 0.05 seconds to 0.15 seconds, an immediately unpopular move. Fans of the popular battle royale title were so upset that the developers were forced to revert the decision on August 28, and while that appeared to be the end of this issue, players are reporting that something still isn’t right with Turbo Building. Posting on Thursday, August 29, a number of players complained that while Epic had said they had reverted the nerf, they still felt that this is not the case. While some stated that they thought it was fine, a lot of players were quick to complain that they were wrong, and things were still not back to normal. “Definitely is not fine,” wrote Reddit user /u/spike12385. “It’s not as bad as it was right after they nerfed it, but certainly not as good as it was after they fixed it. My 90s were complete dogshit right after the nerf, perfect after the fix, and are now back to being pretty dogshit after this newest stability fix.” Another user named /u/Fro0z- uploaded a clip of him attempting to build quickly in the game, but struggling to do so, with his wooden structures not placing where he intended them to go. While some believed that this change was made on purpose, Epic Games quickly moved to confirm that it wasn’t an intentional decision, but rather some sort of bug that had reared its head. In a tweet sent out by the official account, Epic Games confirmed that they had “seen reports that the delay for Turbo Building feels different.” and that “no intentional changes were released since yesterday’s adjustments.” The developers concluded: “We’re investigating these reports and will provide status updates when we have more information.” We’ve seen reports that the delay for Turbo Building feels a bit different today. No intentional changes were released since yesterday’s adjustments. We’re investigating these reports and will provide status updates when we have more information. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) August 30, 2019 When another fix for Turbo Building will release remains to be seen, but the fact that Epic are aware of the issue should mean that fans of the popular battle royale title won’t have to wait too long to see the mechanic return to its previous state.

  • Epic Games respond to leaked Fortnite Annual Battle Pass & Bao Bros skin – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to leaked Fortnite Annual Battle Pass & Bao Bros skin Epic Games saw all of the rumors swirling around about a potential Annual Battle Pass as well as the Bao Bros skin in Fortnite so they decided to address them. The floodgates were ripped open when Epic released Fortnite v11.30 on December 12 and leakers began sharing the plethora of information they found in the files. Things like the Winterfest, Blizzard Blitzer, 2020 Annual Pass, and even the Bao Bros skin have leaked from the update. Most leaks are completely ignored by the Fortnite developers, but they did clarify the rumors surrounding the Annual Pass and Bao Bros skin. In a statement to FortniteINTEL, Epic Games confirmed the Annual Pass will not be coming out, but the same can’t be said for the Bao Bros cosmetic. “We’ve seen discussions around a 2020 Annual Pass as a result of data mining the v11.30 build,” Epic said. “Occasionally prototype features make it into our build that end up not being released. While the 2020 Annual Pass was considered, we have no plans to release it… unlike the Bao Bros.” According to leaks, the Annual Pass was going to include all upcoming 2020 Fortnite Battle Bundles, seven Annual Pass exclusive cosmetics, and would have cost 7,800 V-Bucks. Purchase the 2020 Annual Pass and receive all upcoming 2020 Fortnite Battle Royale: Battle Bundles and 7 Annual Pass exclusive cosmetics. Battle Bundles unlock 25% of content in each Battle Pass instantly upon release. — iFireMonkey (@iFireMonkey) December 12, 2019 Some players even suspected this was going to be the announcement Fortnite has at The Game Awards, but it’s not looking like that will be the case anymore. One thing that is still going to be coming out, however, is the Bao Bros skin, which has been confirmed as coming to the Item Shop in the upcoming future. There’s not a definitive release date for this skin but we can definitely expect in the near future since Epic outright confirmed it. These two leaks are all that Epic commented on so the rest of the things that came out as part of the v11.30 update remain unconfirmed and should be treated as such until we get the official word. While it’s disappointing to see the Annual Pass plans scrapped, it’s nice that we at least received an explanation for why that was the case.

  • Epic Games respond to freezing and loading screen bug in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to freezing and loading screen bug in Fortnite Epic Games, developers of the building battle royale Fortnite, have responded to multiple players reporting freezing and loading screen glitches in Chapter 2, preventing them from playing a normal game. Fortnite Chapter 2 has been widely credited as breathing new life into Epic Games’ third-person battle royale; doing enough to bring back old players, satisfy the ever-presents and encourage new players to download the game for the first time. However, despite its positive reception, fans have still noticed issues with Fortnite, as invasive bugs and glitches threaten its longevity. One bug that has become prominent of late relates to regular freezing and loading screen inconsistencies. On January 3, a number of Fortnite players shared the problems they have been experiencing with Fortnite, many of which seem to overlap. One player explained that they logged into their game as a default skinned character, despite choosing another. Once in their game, they were plagued by regular appearances from both the map and the loading screen. Epic Games responded by confirming that the post has been passed on to their technical staff. However, numerous other players were plagued with similar issues. One PS4 player reported that their loading screen kept popping up arbitrarily during a match, essentially inhibiting them from playing a normal game. Similarly, a PC player shared their experience of an incredibly laggy game, in which no players were able to move properly. Epic responded similarly to all players’ posts – asking for more information as they presumably identify the issue. These all seemed to be linked to the same desynchronization issues that Epic confirmed they were working on. However, they do not seem to be particularly close to a resolution. It also seems that more and more people are being affected by the issues, with a number of users joining the Reddit discussion to confirm they have also been experiencing the problems. Read More: Fortnite New Year’s event recap – While Epic Games try to identify an issue, you can keep up to date with all the bugs they are tracking at their public Fortnite Trello board. We will update you on the desynchronization issues in Fortnite as more information becomes available.

  • Epic Games respond to frustrating marker bug in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to frustrating marker bug in Fortnite Fortnite players have been experiencing problems with the marker system on the battle royale map, but Epic Games have confirmed that they are aware of the issue. The new bug, which reportedly started to appear following the v7.40 content update on February 14, has been a lightning rod of discussion for the game’s online community after fans noticed an issue with the markers that can be placed across the map. This involves the color of markers and the color of players not matching up as they should, which has frustrated players in Squads and Duos. Thankfully, Epic have since reached out to fans with an update on the matter. Epic’s Community Coordinator Sean Hamilton has confirmed that the development team is aware of the issue, during an interaction with a Fortnite player on Twitter. “We’re aware of it and working on a fix,” Hamilton tweeted, before thanking the fan for bringing it to his attention. Though, he did not put an estimated time of arrival on that upcoming change. Reddit users have been discussing the issue on the Fortnite BR subreddit and it seems like the issue is present on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. “The marker colour doesn’t match the touchpad colour,” one user explained. “It’s strange. My teammate will say he’s red marker but I’ll be red marker.” “My friend and I can only see each other’s markers, not our own in-game,” another redditor said. While Epic has not put a specific time scale on that fix, there’s a good chance that it will be included in the next content update.

  • Epic Games respond to Fortnite’s aim assist exploit – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to Fortnite’s aim assist exploit Epic Games has responded to yet another terrible exploit in Fortnite, which allows players to lock onto their enemies by simply aiming down their sights. No matter if you’re far away or hidden behind smoke in Fortnite, an ADS exploit has been allowing players to get the upper hand where they certainly shouldn’t be – locking onto their targets with ease. However, Epic Games has now addressed the issue head on after finding that footage of the problem was being shared on social media. FNBRBreaks posted a video on Twitter which shows one player hiding behind a stink bomb and another using the ADS exploit to locate them very easily – without any visibility at all. Read More: Fortnite: How to complete ‘Dance on top of a sundial, oversized cup of coffee and giant metal dog head’ challenge – Epic Games has since offered an official response to the exploit and it seems like a fix isn’t going to be too far away. “We have a change coming in 7.40 that should mitigate this,” Eric Williamson tweeted. We have a change coming (in 7.40) that should mitigate this. — Eric Williamson (@erwil9) January 31, 2019 Other players, like Twitch streamer Upshall, have been experimenting with Fortnite’s weapons using the PC version of the game, and his findings were quite shocking indeed. Upshall’s test showed that the aim assist was being directly affected by FPS, meaning that when he increased his to 240, his crosshairs would immediately pull towards the head of his opponents. It remains unclear if these problems were introduced with the latest v7.30 content update, but what we do know is that Epic is working to remove them in the v7.40 patch. Until then, check out our Fortnite weekly challenge hub to find out how to complete this week’s Sneaky Snowman, Golden Balloon and Time trial tasks.

  • Epic Games respond to Fortnite locked skin bug in Season 2 – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to Fortnite locked skin bug in Season 2 Epic GamesEpic Games, developers of the incredibly popular building battle royale, have responded to multiple instances of fans experiencing customizable skin issues in Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 2. Customizable skins in Fortnite are not especially new. Added way back in what would turn out to be Fortnite’s first chapter, they enable players to unlock new styles for their skins, looking increasingly awesome as players level them up. They are unlocked for the completion of various challenges, but tend to be related to the amount of XP earned while using a certain skin. As milestones are reached, the better ‘styles’ of the skin are unlocked for players to show off in matches. However, following the launch of Season Two on February 20, it seems like some skins have glitched, and players can no longer select certain styles of them, despite unlocking them a considerable time ago. Multiple Fortnite players have reported the issue on Reddit, specifically relating to the YOND3R skin from Season X. Despite unlocking the skin during Season X – which ran from August to October of 2019 – it seems like the Season Two update of Chapter 2 has inadvertently locked the style for some players. It’s not exactly clear whether the style becoming locked is affecting all users, or just selected users. Regardless, Epic have issued a number of responses to players on Reddit, who are all reporting similar issues. The responses are all along similar lines, explaining that the issue is a known bug and they are working on isolating a cause. They are also encouraging affected players to get in touch with their account details in order to help with their investigation. It’s not currently clear whether it affects multiple skins, or just the YOND3R outfit from Season X. The card on Epic’s Trello page suggests the YOND3R skin is the only known skin that is affected. Regardless, it looks like Epic are working to identify the cause. This will allow a swift patch to the bug so frustrated players receive the skins they have previously unlocked. You can check out every known bug in Fortnite via Epic Games’ Trello page.

  • Epic Games respond to clever Fortnite skin info concept – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to clever Fortnite skin info concept Epic Games have responded to one Reddit user’s ‘skin release date’ concept for Fortnite Chapter 2, so don’t rule out seeing it in the game soon. As Fortnite has exploded in popularity, so has the community’s desire for rare skins. Epic Games have been criticized for bringing back a number of the game’s older, rarer skins in the past, seemingly detracting from their elusiveness. They are also known to cycle through skins in the Fortnite item shop, as new ones are introduced in amongst the classic outfits. On December 23, an Epic Games employee responded to one fan’s awesome concept for ‘skin release’ information to be added to the Fortnite store. The concept would include the original introduction date of the skin in question, as well as providing information on when the skin was last available in the store. While many fan concepts gain traction on Reddit, they are seldom replied to by developers. This concept bucked the trend, however, with an Epic Games employee replying. “So something like this? ‘Introduced in Season 7. Released December XX’,” asked ‘gstaffEpic’. They were quickly corrected to reflect the Reddit user’s proposal which, instead of the original release date, would feature when the skin was last available, alongside the season in which it was released. In response, the Epic Games staff member said: “Got it. Thanks for sharing ideas.” Normally, we would say that the chances of seeing the concept implemented were slim at best. However, given the response from an Epic official, it seems that it will at least be considered by the game’s developers. Fans have long-requested a feature to provide more information on the rarity of skins in the Fortnite store. It would also enable players to avoid confusion over whether the skin they are purchasing is new or an older one that is being cycled through the store again. While there are no guarantees we’ll see such a feature in Fortnite Chapter 2, Epic Games are clearly interested in the idea.

  • Epic Games respond to crazy BRUTE mech hoverboard exploit in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to crazy BRUTE mech hoverboard exploit in Fortnite Epic GamesDevelopers Epic Games have responded to a bizarre Fortnite glitch, involving Season 10’s BRUTE mechs and hoverboards, in a clip which is sure to further frustrate the player base. The B.R.U.T.E mechs were added at Season X’s inception, but have quickly been denounced by the majority of the community as overpowered. They have 1000HP, a protective shield for the Gunner, a stomp mechanic capable of dealing 70 damage and a shotgun and missiles to fire rapidly. However, it seems that yet another issue with the BRUTEs has been discovered, which will significantly increase their mobility. Season 10 also saw a number of the game’s mobility options removed – including the Baller, Quadcrasher, Pirate Cannon, Glider Redeploy and the northern area’s geysers. The one main vehicle that remained, the hoverboard, is entirely intended for single person use, but a bizarre glitch allows players in BRUTEs to get on their teammate’s board. The clip was uploaded to Reddit by u/badlynameduser on August 12, and shows a player on a hoverboard riding under a BRUTE, with the player occupying the giant robot then carried around on the hoverboard too. Not only does this increase the Mech’s mobility by a significant degree, but renders the hoverboard a two person vehicle, specifically against Epic wishes. Epic Games Community Coordinator, Sean Hamilton, replied stating that the glitch has been passed on to their QA team, so a patch is likely being worked on. The glitch is likely to frustrate the community, as another issue with the BRUTEs will simply make them more powerful. The player base has expressed their anger at the BRUTEs already, even getting #RemovetheMech trending worldwide on Twitter on August 10. Some Reddit users took the response as confirmation that BRUTEs will not be getting removed in the August 13 update, but this is not yet confirmed. At the time of writing, the v10.10 patch notes have not been released due to a delay. Despite an earlier nerf to their spawn rate in competitive modes, many players want to see a much more significant nerf in all game modes, or even the vaulting of the BRUTEs altogether.

  • Epic Games respond to broken footstep audio in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games respond to broken footstep audio in Fortnite Epic GamesEpic Games have been made aware of continuous issues with footstep audio in Fortnite, particularly affecting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, and have now addressed the issue. Players have been complaining quite frequently about broken footstep audio since Fortnite Chapter 2 released, and even more so since Season 2 went live in February. The issue is a simple one, in that players sometimes just can’t hear approaching enemies, and most console players will have experienced an opponent seemingly turning up out of nowhere, with little to no warning. Obviously, though not exactly a game-breaking issue, this can absolutely ruin players’ enjoyment of the game, especially if they’re playing well and not given the opportunity to properly defend themselves when a fight occurs. On Thursday, March 5, the issue was addressed through the FortniteStatus Twitter account, saying that they’re “investigating reports of missing footstep audio on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.” They added that they’ll provide an update when they have more information, which likely means that a fix to the bug should be coming sooner rather than later – and you can also keep tabs on what they’re working on through Epic’s community Trello board. A number of the biggest streamers and content creators have already spoken out about their desire – or decision – to stop playing Fortnite so much, and Epic Games will want to make sure they don’t lose too much of their vast fanbase due to menial issues such as this.
