  • Epic Games CEO hints at 200-player Fortnite lobbies coming soon – Dexerto

Epic Games CEO hints at 200-player Fortnite lobbies coming soon Epic GamesEpic Games boss Tim Sweeney has hinted that potential 200-player Battle Royale lobbies could be coming to Fortnite, and that the company is developing its next version of Unreal Engine. Fortnite’s popular Battle Royale mode was launched in 2017 with a free-to-play model where 100 players would go against each other in a single match. Ever since the game’s launch, the size of BR lobbies has remained the same. However, Sweeney revealed in an interview with Matthew Ball, that the maximum lobby size in Fortnite’s BR mode might also change as the company was experimenting with server sizes while working on Unreal Engine 6. 200-player Fortnite lobbies are being worked on with Unreal Engine 6 In the interview, the Epic CEO revealed that they wanted to make a 200-player lobby during the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale. However, due to the restrictions of the server sizes and the networking model, they had to narrow it down to 100. When asked about the evolution of Fortnite, Sweeney said: “It’s going to evolve a lot. And when you look at what’s in Fortnite today, some of it you have to recognize as artifacts of the limitations of the current technology that we’re working within.” He continued: “Why is Fortnite: Battle Royale 100 players? Well, because at the time we launched it, we couldn’t make 200 players work on a server. Computers in the data center were just too slow.” Sweeney also revealed that Unreal Engine 6 is improving the networking model, where they both have servers supporting lots of players, but also the ability to seamlessly move players between servers, making 200-player BR lobbies a reality pretty soon. Throughout the interview, Sweeney talked about Fortnite’s ever-evolving metaverse, Creator Economy 3.0, and how Fortnite’s revenue is generated, all in conjunction with Ball’s newly-released book, called The Metaverse. However, players and content creators like Nick Eh 30 were extremely excited believing that 200-player BR lobbies could soon be implemented in Fortnite. He said: “200 player customs would be CRAZY!” Fortnite pro FaZe Replays also wrote: “200 Players would be WAY better for Pubs. I hope it happens.”

  • Is Apex Legends really the Fortnite killer? Epic Games CEO responds – Dexerto

Is Apex Legends really the Fortnite killer? Epic Games CEO responds Apex Legends has gotten off to a hot start since its launch in February 2019 but Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney still doesn’t seem concerned about the game’s affect on Fortnite. Apex Legends launched in February out of nowhere and quickly won over millions of players, much faster than other battle royale games before it. It reached 50 million players in its first month alone and broke a Twitch viewership record, proving it had the staying power to compete with and perhaps even dethrone Fortnite. Despite all of this, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney doesn’t seem all that concerned about Apex Legends when it comes to potentially overtaking Fortnite. In an interview with Venture Beat, Sweeney confirms Fortnite reached an all-time player peak when Apex Legends was already out and mentioned he hasn’t seen any visible cut into Fortnite. “We hit a Fortnite non-event peak twice after Apex was out,” Sweeney told Venture Beat. “We haven’t seen any visible cut into Fortnite. It’s a funny thing. The only game you can see where its peaks cut into Fortnite playtime is FIFA. It’s another game for everybody, wildly popular around the world.” Sweeney does give credit to Apex Legends with re-energizing shooter players and adding a unique spin to the battle royale formula and advancing it. He did take a subtle jab at Apex by saying Fortnite has matched its growth. “We’re very close to hitting 250 million Fortnite players,” said Sweeney. “Since Apex Legends came out, we’ve gained an Apex Legends worth of Fortnite players, which is amazing.” Apex Legends introduced a pinging system that allowed players to mark weapons and items on the map for their teammates to find. Shortly after this, Fortnite implemented a similar system into its game, which might be an example of what Sweeney was talking about when he said Apex advanced the battle royale formula. The first Battle Pass just recently launched in Apex Legends so this will be a good indication of how Apex will compete with Fortnite going forward. Many players were underwhelmed by Respawn’s offering with the Battle Pass in Apex Legends and how it compares to Fortnite’s. Respawn has mentioned this Battle Pass should be looked at as a jumping off point for players to get a healthy collection of cosmetics and future Battle Passes could be much different.

  • Epic Games CEO explains real reason for Apple & Google Fortnite lawsuits – Dexerto

Epic Games CEO explains real reason for Apple & Google Fortnite lawsuits Flickr:Trish Tunney/Epic GamesEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has explained more details about why the Fortnite creators are taking on both Apple and Google in lawsuits. On August 13, Epic Games made the decision to give players the option to pay for Fortnite’s V-Bucks directly through the app rather than include Apple and their app store. Many gaming experts suggested that this move would be in violation of Apple’s policies and it wasn’t long after that the battle royale was taken off the app store. Epic quickly struck back to Apple’s move with its parody of their classic ‘1984’ advert and subsequent #FreeFortnite campaign. Google followed in Apple’s footsteps by also removing Fortnite from the Google Play Store, prompting an additional lawsuit from Epic. With the battle against both Apple and Google playing out very publicly, many Fortnite fans have their own ideas about why Epic are proceeding with their lawsuits. Though, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has explained a few reasons of his own. “At the most basic level, we’re fighting for the freedom of people who bought smartphones to install apps from sources of their choosing, the freedom for creators of apps to distribute them as they choose, and the freedom of both groups to do business directly,” he tweeted on August 14. Sweeney followed that up, stating that the notion that “smartphone makers can do whatever they want” is an “awful” one and that developers “need to fight to defend our rights against whoever would deny them.” The primary opposing argument is: “”Smartphone markers can do whatever they want””. This as an awful notion. We all have rights, and we need to fight to defend our rights against whoever would deny them. Even if that means fighting a beloved company like Apple. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) August 14, 2020 On top of that, Epic’s CEO noted that their fight isn’t about getting a “special deal,” but more so “the basic freedoms of all consumers and developers.” While Sweeney added that there’s also nothing wrong about fighting over money, he left a parting shot about “middlemen” who “use their power to separate gamers from game creators. Finally, there’s nothing wrong with fighting about money. You work hard to earn this stuff. When you spent it, the way it’s divided determines whether your money funds the creation of games or is taken by middlemen who use their power to separate gamers from game creators. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) August 14, 2020 Neither Apple nor Google have responded to Sweeney’s tweets, but as their legal battle plays out in public, both sides will surely have a few choice words further down the line. So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens and if Fortnite will return to mobile devices prior to the start of Chapter 2, Season 4.

  • Epic Games Calls Google “Irresponsible” for Disclosing Major Fortnite Android Exploit – Dexerto

Epic Games Calls Google “Irresponsible” for Disclosing Major Fortnite Android Exploit The CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has called Google’s decision to publicly disclose details of a major Fortnite Android exploit “irresponsible”, accusing Google of attempting “counter-PR” against Epic. Epic decided not to use Google’s ‘Google Play’ platform for the launch of their popular battle royale game on Android, an unexpected move for some, and now it seems Google could be hitting back. Google initially warned Epic that bypassing the Play store and using their own launcher would come with security risks that Google would otherwise deal with. And this possibility became reality, when a ‘Man-in-the-Disk’ (MiTD) exploit was discovered in the Epic Games launcher, allowing malicious users to ‘hijack’ the Fortnite app download, and instead install completely different software. Google discovered the exploit on August 15 and made Epic Games aware immediately. Epic confirmed knowledge of the exploit and said they were working on a fix, and on August 16 at 4:12pm PT, the fix had been rolled out. Within two hours of rolling out the fix, Epic asked Google to keep private the details of the exploit, which Google says they will do for up to 90 days, to allow users to patch their devices. But Google did not wait the 90 days, instead disclosing the vulnerability only seven days later. This did not please Epic Games, and prompted Sweeney to make a statement on the issue, speaking to Mashable: “Epic genuinely appreciated Google’s effort to perform an in-depth security audit of Fortnite immediately following our release on Android, and share the results with Epic so we could speedily issue an update to fix the flaw they discovered. However, it was irresponsible of Google to publicly disclose the technical details of the flaw so quickly, while many installations had not yet been updated and were still vulnerable. An Epic security engineer, at my urging, requested Google delay public disclosure for the typical 90 days to allow time for the update to be more widely installed. Google refused. You can read it all at https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/112630336 Google’s security analysis efforts are appreciated and benefit the Android platform, however a company as powerful as Google should practice more responsible disclosure timing than this, and not endanger users in the course of its counter-PR efforts against Epic’s distribution of Fortnite outside of Google Play.” Google also had their say on the matter, stating that user security always takes precedence: “User security is our top priority, and as part of our proactive monitoring for malware we identified a vulnerability in the Fortnite installer. We immediately notified Epic Games and they fixed the issue.” Epic clearly feels as though Google purposefully disclosed the exploit earlier than needed as punishment for avoiding the Google Play store.

  • Epic Games CEO distances Fortnite from alleged crypto “scam” using game’s name – Dexerto

Epic Games CEO distances Fortnite from alleged crypto “scam” using game’s name Epic GamesEpic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has lashed out at a cryptocurrency using the Fortnite name and logo to bait unsuspecting buyers. Sweeney labeled it a “scam” and urged players to not buy into it. As cryptocurrency continues to garner mainstream attention, scams are on the rise. Content creators have dragged into the messy business, and there is a constant push by bad actors in the space to find ways of hooking people in. One such entity — Fortnite Token — has been trading under the Fortnite name and using its logo in an attempt to capitalize upon the worldwide recognition the battle royale has accrued for itself. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney used his platform on Twitter to warn players about the Fortnite Token “scam” utilizing the game’s IP, distancing the company from any cryptocurrency projects. “There isn’t a Fortnite cryptocurrency,” he said on June 7. “The Twitter accoutns promoting such a thing are a scam.” There isn’t a Fortnite cryptocurrency. The Twitter accounts promoting such a thing are a scam. Epic’s lawyers are on it. Also, shame on the cryptocurrency marketplaces that enable this kind of thing. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) June 6, 2022 Throwing down shame on the cryptocurrency’s creators, as well as marketplaces that enable this sort of activity, Sweeney drew a firm line in the sand with his statement by stating Epic’s lawyers “are on it”. Firing back at the multi-billionaire, the Fortnite Token team attempted to argue their legitimacy in a back and forth on Twitter with Sweeney. The creators claimed the token “isn’t a scam” and is instead a “Fortnite game fans-created cryptocurrency project” with no indication of utility to anyone in, or out, of the Fortnite gaming world. Sweeney rebutted the claims by stating it still infringed on Epic’s intellectual property: “That’s not how trademarks and copyrights work”. That’s not how trademarks and copyrights work though. You can’t use the Fortnite name and images without permission to market an unrelated product. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) June 6, 2022 Despite Sweeney’s comments on Twitter, the Fortnite Token project is still active with the account boasting thousands of followers on Twitter. We’ll keep you updated on any developments.

  • Epic Games boss reveals major hint for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 theme – Dexerto

Epic Games boss reveals major hint for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 theme Hot Grill / Marvel ComicsThe theme of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has been summed up in one word by Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games. The Epic boss has carried on his tradition for another season, in which he shares one mysterious word for each upcoming Fortnite season just before it is about to start. For Chapter 5 Season 2, he gave “Wings,” which alluded to the Greek Mythological theme and the Wings of Icarus traversal item. Meanwhile, for Chapter 5 Season 3, he shared the word “Nitro” referring to the Wasteland-themed season that has centered around Nitro-fueled cars. Therefore, whenever the word surfaces it has proved to be a big deal and for next season’s word, this has been no different. On August 10, Mark Rein posted to his Twitter/X account in response to a player who asked what the word was for next season. He simply stated: “My word for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 is Absolute.” Despite “Absolute” appearing to be extremely vague in comparison to the previous words given, it has pointed towards the already all-but confirmed Marvel theme for next season. One theory is that it could possibly involve Marvel’s Absolute Carnage comics, but that’s highly unlikely. According to a Redditor, the word Absolute refers to the Infamous Iron Man comic with the storyline The Absolution of Doom. The cover image of the comic features a white-cloaked version of Doctor Doom who bears an uncanny resemblance to the mysterious Wanderer roaming around the Chapter 5 Season 3 island. With the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 live event concluding on August 10 at 2:30 PM ET, and Doctor Doom hacking Megalo Don’s pipelines and blowing them up, this could all be related to some form of Absolution Doom plans to bring in the new Marvel-themed season with the use of Pandora’s Box. However, with Doctor Doom allegedly being the star of the show for next season according to the leaked Fortnite 2024 Roadmap and many are now convinced he is the true identity of The Wanderer. Overall, Epic has confirmed nothing so far regarding next season’s theme or what “Absolute” means for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. The theories and rumors provided are just that.

  • Epic Games boss reveals next Fortnite season’s theme – Dexerto

Here’s what it is and how players reacted to it. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 is nearing its conclusion on November 3, 2023, when a new season will begin. As players prepare to travel back in time to Chapter 1, the anticipation and rumors surrounding the upcoming season are at an all-time high. While the Fortnitemares event is in progress, the concluding Halloween and Weekly quests for the season have arrived. Leaks have been circulating on social media in anticipation of Chapter 4 Season 5, all of which indicate that players will return to Chapter 1 and experience islands from Season 1 to Season X. In the midst of these leaks and rumors, Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, has posted his word for the upcoming Fortnite season. While rumors cannot be relied upon completely, players can rely on Rein’s word, which primarily hints at the upcoming season’s theme. Mark Rein reveals his word for next Fortnite season’s theme According to Mark Rein, his word for the next Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5 is Rewind. The Epic boss announced this on October 26, 2023 on his X page as players were spamming him to drop legitimate hints about the upcoming season. Fortnite leakers and players have since solidified their theory of returning to Chapter 1’s island as content creators and streamers continue to receive teasers that all allude at this possibility. Upon looking at Rein’s X post, Fortnite users were beyond excited as one user said, “On my way! just packing my bags because we’re going home.” Another one chimed in, “Hopefully it’s OG spots to drop but bigger map.” A third added, “I just hope the game actually looks and feels the way it did back then. Bit of a reach I know but it’s gonna be cool seeing the old map again.” While Epic has not yet released official teasers for the upcoming season, it will be fascinating to see how Chapter 4 Season 5 will build up in the coming days.

  • Epic Games boss plans to make Fortnite more than just “a game” – Dexerto

Epic Games boss plans to make Fortnite more than just “a game” Epic Games boss Tim Sweeney has hinted at the fact that the Fortnite developers have plans to take the battle royale title beyond being just a game. Since releasing back in 2017, Fortnite has become a cultural phenomenon. The battle royale side of the Epic Games title has seen players from across the globe dive into games in the hopes of claiming a victory royale. Yet, it’s gone beyond what some might consider a typical gaming crowd. Megastars like Drake have teamed up with regular players like Ninja for a match, while other celebrities have cultivated a streaming fanbase out of it. Epic themselves have even linked up with pop culture trends like Marvel’s Avengers and Netflix’s Stranger Things to provide successful crossovers. As of now, it is still solely a game with a huge following, but it seems like Epic Games have plans to create something much, much bigger off the back of their battle royale. Tim Sweeney, the CEO of the games studio, was quizzed about wheter or not he considered Fortnite to be solely a game or a platform in its current standing. “Fortnite is a game,” he said, replying to an inquisitive fan. “But please ask that question again in 12 months.” Fortnite is a game. But please ask that question again in 12 months. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) December 26, 2019 While the response went largely under the radar in terms of follow-ups, a Polish journalist quickly noted that players are currently treating it “as a meeting spot” and it is “better than heartless social networks.” However, Sweeney himself disagreed with that – as of right now, anyway. He responded: “I’ll adhere to the 1990’s definition that something is a platform when the majority of content people spend time with is created by others.” I’ll adhere to the 1990’s definition that something is a platform when the majority of content people spend time with is created by others. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) December 26, 2019 Of course, as of right now, the majority of players stick with the battle royale that Epic has created, while others have made a name for themselves with the creative side of things. Wheter or not the developers will open the game up, say allowing creators to rustle up a new battle royale map for everyone else or making creative a bigger part of the game anyway, remains to be seen.

  • Epic Games boss drops major clue for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 theme – Dexerto

Epic Games boss drops major clue for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 theme Epic GamesMark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, has revealed his one word that sums up Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, as players speculate what it could all mean. Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is just days away as this chapter’s first season eventually draws to a close. Epic and various leakers have widely teased a theme centering around Greek mythology for next season is coming. However, aside from an in-game event and what skins we can expect to see in the Battle Pass, all the major details are still unknown. Now, Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, has given his ‘word’ that sums up Chapter 5 Season 2, which gives an enormous hint for what to expect with next season’s theme. Epic Games boss reveals his word for next Fortnite season’s theme Mark Rein was asked via Twitter/X: “If you had one word to describe next season, what would it be?” To which the co-founder responded, “My word for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is: Wings.” With the theme already being rumored to center around Greek Mythology, it has led to many players racking their brains on what this could mean and how the two could link. Various players threw around suggestions. The most popular was the idea that different mythological creatures and gods could feature. These included: “Pegasus,” griffins,” “Icarus” “Hermes,” “Iris,” “dragon,” and many more. This was further backed up by the popular creator and leaker HYPEX. They posted an image of a Griffin in response to their reported leak from September 2022, which revealed that Epic was working on “rideable flying animals.” The original leak further stated that players would “be able to Boost & Idle” and “most likely” use a Saddle item on them. Whether or not this is what is coming remains unknown, but it would certainly shake up the Battle Royale Island. It’s not the first time that Mark Rein has provided his ‘word’ for an upcoming Fortnite season, whereby he gave the word “Rewind,” just before the record-breaking Season OG dropped and sent players right back to the first season. While Epic has not released Chapter 5 Season 2’s official trailer or announced the theme, we will be sure to update you on any more leaks or official announcements.

  • Epic Games boss drops major hint for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 theme – Dexerto

Epic Games boss drops major hint for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 theme DylanTG/Epic GamesThe word dropped by Epic Games co-founder Mark Rein hints at Chapter 5 Season 3’s theme as seen in a leaked Fortnite roadmap. Following the seasonal tradition, Mark Rein has once again dropped his word for the upcoming Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 on his X page. When asked about a word that would describe the next season, Mark replied, “My word for C5S3 is Nitro.” Right before Chapter 5 Season 2 launched, Rein chose “Wings” as the word for the season, which ultimately turned out to be true as a Wings of Icarus item was added to the game. Fortnite players shared their excitement about the recent word and said, “Interesting. Hopefully with armored vehicles with weapon attachments. Post apocalypse. Mercy.” While he didn’t give much away following his comment, data miners like HYPEX and ShiinaBR believe it would be largely based on Mad Max and cars across an apocalyptic Fortnite Island. This simply comes after a leaked Fortnite roadmap showed a blurred key art following the aesthetics of the Mad Max franchise. Moreover, a leaked image of an upcoming Fortnite skin features the word Nitro across its chest, hence many believe it is a Battle Pass skin rather than the entire theme itself. Furthermore, the ongoing mini-live events on the Chapter 5 Season 2 island hint at an upcoming sandstorm that was leaked earlier on X this week by data miners. The sandstorm is rumored to be thrice the size of the island and will completely engulf the current Fortnite map and turn it into a desert biome. However, players need to be cautious of rumors since they are mostly fake and thus they must wait for official teasers that Epic Games drops days before a new Fortnite season. Although up until this point, most rumors mentioned in the leaked roadmap have turned out to be true be it the Billie Eilish collab in Fortnite Festival or a Star Wars takeover in LEGO Fortnite.

  • Epic Games start clamping down on XIM mouse and keyboard users on Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games start clamping down on XIM mouse and keyboard users on Fortnite Fortnite players using the XIM device in order to trick their console into using a mouse and keyboard have started to get kicked off the game. Using a mouse and keyboard on console is not a new phenomenon, and in fact, if you’re on PlayStation you’re able to use one to play Fortnite, with the game recognizing the input device and placing you with PC players. However, on both PlayStation and Xbox, sneaky players have been using a XIM device, which allows the use of any mouse and keyboard, tricking the console into thinking it’s a controller. The developers at Epic Games announced plans to prevent this, and one Xbox user has reported that it has resulted in him being banned from the game. During a regular solo, Reddit user AlternatePlan98 was kicked from the game due to an incorrect input device. However it didn’t stop there, because when he plugged in a controller, the issue persisted. “Today I got kicked out of two matches back to back where a message popped up telling me I’m using ‘a different input method’. Funny thing is after restarting the game it again tells me that I’m using a controller which is obviously false. Since there is no way to tell Fortnite that I’m using M+C I’m not able to play Fortnite anymore because I get kicked as soon as I start to use my weapon or move fast.” As expected he didn’t receive much sympathy from other Reddit users in response with replies such as ‘get fucked’ and ‘good you cheating piece of trash’. Console players will now be hoping that other developers follow in the footsteps of Epic Games, with titles such as Call of Duty plagued with accusations of keyboarders.

  • Epic Games bans smurfs in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 competitive update – Dexerto

Epic Games bans smurfs in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 competitive update Epic GamesEpic Games has outlined several changes coming to Fortnite with Chapter 2 Season 2 that will seriously impact the competitive integrity of upcoming tournaments. In an official blog post, the team explained how it intends to keep Fortnite competitive and fair for everyone by banning smurfs from tournaments. “Effective immediately, players will not be permitted to play in the same session’s tournament across multiple accounts,” Epic wrote, and further detailed how this included restarting a tournament match on a different account to gain an edge – or having multiple people play on one device. What’s more, with some Cash Cups broken out by Arena Level, smurfing could be a major issue. As such, anyone playing on an account that has a lower level than their main will be in violation of the smurfing rules. According to Epic, this will result in a penalty on both the main and smurf accounts. Epic Games is also ready to wield the ban hammer if need be. “If a player is caught breaking an official rule that results in a 30-day or longer competitive ban, that player will also be ineligible for the next Season’s FNCS (or other pinnacle event), regardless of competitive ban timing,” they wrote. Moving on to items, as new items are added throughout the season, there will be a two week “evaluation period,” and items will only be added to Arena and Tournament pools if they add value to competitive play. They also explained how in some rare cases, items could be changing during the season citing the Remote Explosives as an example. Finally, as part of a partnership with DreamHack, new online tournaments are in the works with the first competition being the Dreamhack Open in July. More tournaments will be coming each month until January 2021. It will be interesting to see how the changes affect the game and how they’re received by the community.

  • Epic Games barring Fortnite players from remaking past Chapter maps in Creative 2.0 – Dexerto

Epic Games barring Fortnite players from remaking past Chapter maps in Creative 2.0 Players raced to be the first to remake Fortnite Chapter 1’s OG map when Creative 2.0 launched, but Epic Games is putting a stop to reliving the past from here on. Creative players have awaited Unreal Editor for Fortnite since Creative 2.0 was teased by leakers in the community. This new suite of tools would allow players to go outside the realm of Fortnite assets by importing their own custom models into the editor. And as we saw moments after UEFN was announced, players began racing to be the first to recreate the Fortnite Chapter 1 island. It’s been roughly three and a half years since Fortnite left the Chapter 1 map behind, and players have been begging for it to return. Despite the anticipation for a full recreation of the OG map, Epic Games has released a statement putting an end to recreating any of the maps from Chapters 2 and 3. And players who manage to remake the Fortnite Chapter 1 map aren’t able to earn a profit. Epic Games dissuades OG Fortnite Map creators The news came in the form of a blog post titled, “Updating terms to enable publishing versions of battle royale Chapter 1 Islands.” Epic Games pointed out that players could not use someone else’s IP to create monetized content in UEFN and stated, “All the seasonal variations of Fortnite’s Battle Royale maps and islands are Epic’s intellectual property.” The blog went on to state that players were free to recreate versions of the Fortnite Chapter 1 map, but they could not monetize the maps. Under Fortnite’s Creator Economy 2.0 terms, creators no longer make money via Creator Codes. Instead, they earn real-money rewards based on how much players engage with their content. However, players cannot earn Engagement Payouts from any Chapter 1 map remakes. The blog continued, stating players could only make remakes of the Chapter 1 maps, barring them from recreating maps from Chapters 2 & 3. Players in the community speculated that this was likely due to the amount of licensed content around the maps in later chapters. As it stands, players can access Fortnite OG maps through creative mode, but creators have little incentive to develop these maps further. And those who want to play on Chapter 2 & 3 maps… well, you’re out of luck.

  • Epic Games asks Fortnite leakers not to spoil Star Wars event – Dexerto

Epic Games asks Fortnite leakers not to spoil Star Wars event Epic Games, developers behind Fortnite: Chapter 2, have sent messages to a number of Fortnite leakers, asking for discretion ahead of the heavily anticipated Star Wars crossover event. Fortnite is well known for its jaw-dropping crossovers with some of popular culture’s biggest films and games, including Avengers: Endgame and Borderlands 3. December 14 will see a collaboration with Star Wars, ahead of the release of the hugely anticipated Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 19. Epic Games themselves have specifically requested that numerous leakers do not reveal any details about the event. Fans are not entirely sure what will feature in the Star Wars-Fortnite crossover, but Epic have confirmed that an exclusive scene from the upcoming Star Wars film will premier in Risky Reels. While a number of in-game events are leaked ahead of time, including the launch of Fortnite: Chapter 2 back in October, Epic are clearly keen to avoid the recurrence of such spoilers. In a message sent to numerous Fortnite leakers, Epic request that they respect the “enormous amount of hard work” their staff have put in. The request even mentions the potential of Disney – who own Star Wars – to take legal action if an embargo is broken. A number of the most reputable Fortnite leakers, including FortTory, Lucas7yoshi and FNBRHQ have tweeted to confirm that they received the message from Epic, and will honor their request. “I will respect their decision and I won’t leak the event,” said FortTory. “If I see people leak the event in my comments I will block them.” Similarly, Lucas7yoshi said that: “Following a message I’ve received from Epic I’m just going to confirm that I will not be leaking any part of this event. Genuinely seems they really want it to be a surprise to people and I’ll respect that.” I received a message from Epic Games where they request, not just to me but to every other leaker, not to leak the event. I will respect their decision and I wont leak the event. If I see people leak the event in my comments I will block them. — FortTory – Fortnite leaks & news (@FortTory) December 14, 2019 But considering that and the DM, it’s probably just best to respect their wishes. However this does seem to suggest this will be a pretty good event lol — Lucas7yoshi – FESTIVAL ARC??? (@Lucas7yoshi) December 14, 2019 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees the recent trilogy come to a conclusion, and is one of the most anticipated films of recent years. A Fortnite crossover will likely compound fan excitement ahead of its December 19 release. Given the efforts of Epic Games to maintain secrecy, it sounds like they have a plethora of new content for players to dive into, with much remaining up in the air about how the crossover will be handled.

  • Epic Games assures Fortnite’s Item Shop changes won’t impact skin pricing – Dexerto

Epic Games assures Fortnite’s Item Shop changes won’t impact skin pricing Epic GamesEpic Games announced Item rarities will be leaving Fortnite with update 29.20, and after much fan disappointment, the studio has shared how this will impact the game moving forward. Chapter 5’s arrival has seen Epic Games rethink how the Item Shop works, with the studio dropping the shop’s refresh timer in the inaugural season of Chapter 5. Season 2 sees the studio change the shop yet again, this time removing the rarities from a majority of in-game items, something that’s been a tradition since Fortnite arrived. While it may not seem like an issue, players are concerned this will see Epic tinkering with pricing models. For example, the arrival of the Avatar skins has left players furious as it captures the previous sentiment. Amid the discourse, Epic Games took the time to share their approach to the change. In response to Fortnite community member HappyPower blasting the rarity changes, the official Fortnite account shared that the changes were made to “remove outdated Battle Royale-inspired systems.” “Hey – the change to remove color labeling from Shop items doesn’t change our approach or the way we price things. We just wanna simplify the appearance of Fortnite (Locker, Shop, etc) and remove outdated Battle Royale-inspired systems.” The reply didn’t instill much confidence in the player base, with many questioning Epic’s definition of simplicity. Many of the replies said the Locker UI changes are exactly against simplicity and that Epic is trying too hard to simplify the game. Others simply restated that this would impact pricing models. Chapter 5 has been an interesting one for the Fortnite developers since several changes have rubbed the community the wrong way. Each time, the studio has reverted the changes, so time will tell what the future holds for item rarities and Fortnite’s Item Shop.

Epic Games will be running custom lobbies for Fortnite pros – on one condition Fortnite – Epic Games / 72hrs – Team LiquidDuring a stream by team Liquid Fortnite pro Thomas ‘72hrs’ Mulligan, it was revealed that Epic Games will be providing professional Fornite players with custom lobbies. Over the stream’s voice chat, another player revealed that Epic Games would be running these lobbies for pros on Friday, September 14, at 5 PM EST. However, there was one condition – the players couldn’t refer to the matches as ‘scrims’ while they streamed. The player stated: “Friday, at 5 PM EST, customs, we cannot refer to them as scrims, and we’re allowed to stream them.” He wasn’t the only one to confirm this development, either. Team Liquid’s Poach likewise affirmed the lobbies in his own stream. “Late night Friday, we’re gonna do Duo Customs for Epic,” he stated to his chat while detailing his upcoming stream schedule. As to why players can’t refer to the matches as ‘scrims,’ one Reddit user by the name of Mlinki3636 had a possible explanation. In a thread discussing the development, the user stated that custom matches can’t be used for competitive practice, hence Epic’s re-branding of the lobby names. “Because custom games can’t be used for competitive practice,” they stated, “even though pro players mostly play them for practice.” Read More: Complete all the Fortnite challenges for Week 10 of Season 5 using the full cheat sheet map with locations – Another comment revealed that information for the lobbies would be released via a private discord. A user with a verified email, named xil7, stated that Epic would be running the Customs in their Private Replay Discord channel, which some pros have access to. Additionally, the user stated that these lobbies won’t be a regular occurrence – but confirmed that Epic would allow players to stream the matches. “These are customs run by Epic in their private Replay Test discord, that some of us have access to,” the user commented in the thread. “These won’t happen often, but at least we can stream them.” Players and fans alike can look forward to some top competition on Friday via these custom lobbies – but you won’t hear them referred to as ‘scrims.’

  • Epic Games are asking for massive amounts of money for Fortnite World Cup sponsorship – Dexerto

Epic Games are asking for massive amounts of money for Fortnite World Cup sponsorship Rumors suggest that Epic Games are asking for massive amounts of money from companies who would like to sponsor the upcoming Fortnite World Cup. Chris Pursell, who is a business journalist based in Las Vegas, has revealed on Twitter that Epic Games are asking for up to $25 million for partnerships for the event. These opportunities would be title sponsorships, or regular spots within the event, much like State Farm’s partnership with League of Legends during the NA LCS and the 2018 World Championships. Pursell states that any company that were to take this partnership on would become part of a deal that sets “a new record for the industry,” and used comparisons to sports to show the size of this deal. Advertising spots during the first game of the 2018 NBA Finals cost as much as $829,000, while slots during February’s Super Bowl 52 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots were sold for around $5 million. Epic Games asking up to $25 million for partnerships for Fortnite World Cup, obviously a new record for the industry. For comparison: cost to buy an ad for Game 1 of 2018 NBA Finals ran as high as $829,577, while a spot at the Super Bowl in February was about $5 million. — Chris Pursell (@VegasandVine) October 17, 2018 There is currently no word on who may end up sponsoring the Fortnite World Cup, but Epic Games are already on the hunt for their title sponsor for the event which isn’t scheduled to take place until late 2019. The Fortnite World Cup was first announced back in June 2018, but Epic Games’ focus on the Summer and Fall Skirmishes meant that little information was available about the tournament until recently. Qualifiers for the World Cup will begin early next year, with these qualifiers set to be open to anyone who would like to play, regardless of if they are professional players or not.

  • Epic Games are bringing back 14 Days of Fortnite and here’s why – Dexerto

Epic Games are bringing back 14 Days of Fortnite and here’s why After initially announcing compensation for the 14 Days of Fortnite event snafu, Epic Games have now announced that they will be bringing back the entirety of the event. The 14 Days of Fortnite event ran through the new year and gave players a chance to unlock special items and take part in new and returning LTMs during each day of the event. It was originally announced that the challenges would still be live after the end of the event to give players a chance to catch up on any items they might have missed during the holidays, but once the 14th day ended, players were shocked to see all of the challenges had gone. On January 2, Epic Games announced that they would be issuing the final reward, the Equalizer Glider, to any player who completed any challenged during the event. After further discussion, however, Epic has now made the announcement that the entire event will be returning next week to give players the chance at obtaining any items they might have missed along the way. We communicated an incorrect end date for the 14 Days of Fortnite event and didn’t feel the Equalizer Glider compensation was the right approach. We’ve decided to bring back this event next week through January 15 at 3 AM ET(0800 UTC). More Details: https://t.co/zOGmL3vDtj — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) January 4, 2019 The event will start “early next week,” presumably along with the v7.10 update #3 on January 8, and run through January 15 at 12am PST / 3am EST / 8am UTC. In addition to the challenges, Epic Games also stated that some of the LTMs that released during the event would be making a return, as well. For players who might have completed some of the challenges, but no others, Community Manager Sean ‘MrPopoTFS’ Hamilton has offered a key clarification. Players who have already completed all 14 Days of Fortnite Challenges will retain all rewards they earned. For any who only completed some of the Challenges – Any Challenges you did complete will remain completed. Progress will be reset for any Challenges that were incomplete. — Sean Hamilton (@MrPopoTFS) January 4, 2019 Be sure to check out our official guide on all 14 of the challenges for the event to prepare for its return next week! You can read Epic’s full statement on the matter below: UPDATE ON 14 DAYS OF FORTNITE By The Fortnite Team We communicated an incorrect end date for the 14 Days of Fortnite event and did not feel the Equalizer Glider compensation was the right approach. After further discussion, we’ve decided to bring back this event early next week through January 15 at 3 AM ET(0800 UTC). We’ll also be enabling some of the most popular Limited Time Modes that were available during the event. Players who were unable to complete those Challenges will be able to earn all of the rewards they may have initially missed out on. All Challenges will be available to complete for the entire duration of the event. Unfortunately, progress on partially completed challenges has to be reset. Thanks so much for your patience and understanding! Source – Epic Games

  • Epic Games appoint IMG to clinch last-gasp Fortnite World Cup media rights deal – Dexerto

Epic Games appoint IMG to clinch last-gasp Fortnite World Cup media rights deal Epic GamesEpic Games have reportedly appointed IMG to handle all media responsibilities for the inaugural Fortnite World Cup Finals, tasking them to sell media rights for the event just a week before it airs. The event is over a year in the making after Epic first revealed its ambitious esports roadmap back in June 2018 and appear to have entrusted the global talent management company to sell media rights before it kicks off on July 26, according to a report from the Esports Observer. This news might raise a few eyebrows in the esports community, particularly those who actively take an interest in the Fortnite competitive scene, as the developer has had such a long time to sell sponsorship or linear media rights for the finale of the $30 million competition but has let it come right down to the wire. Fortnite’s World Cup Finals will take place at USTA’s Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York and will run through until July 28, in front of what’s expected to be a sold out crowd in the Empire State. Some of the most lucrative matches in the popular battle royale game will take place over the weekend and will be streamed not only on Twitch, but Facebook, IMG and the latter’s very own Sports 24 platform will also have the rights to broadcast the competition also. With so much money at stake in the World Cup Finals, many fans would be wondering at to why Epic Games hasn’t already secured sponsorship deals for the tournament, as the eyes of millions around the world are expected to be glued to their screens for the event. Previous Fortnite tournaments have proved highly controversial as the developers have introduced items and weapons at the final hour, which pros arguing that switching up the meta so close to the end would be a mistake in the future, and possibly Epic have learnt their lesson. The game’s brand new Storm Scout sniper rifle has been officially disabled for the finals, so too has the Storm Flip item, which should set us up nicely for a much fairer set of matches in New York. With fans across the globe chomping at the bit to find out just what will come from the $30 million tournament, we’ll all have to wait to see what unfolds. One thing we know for sure, though, is that IMG has a pretty narrow window of opportunity to secure a media rights agreement.

  • Epic Games revert Fortnite’s controversial Turbo Building nerf, but with a catch – Dexerto

Epic Games revert Fortnite’s controversial Turbo Building nerf, but with a catch Epic GamesThe Fortnite team have addressed the controversial nerf to Turbo Building as public outcry has yet again forced the developer’s hand in making a major revert to the system. The casual and competitive community alike voiced strong sentiments when Epic Games launched the v10.20 update which patched out the ability to lay down crucial builds at break neck speeds. The patch essentially stopped players from “cranking 90s” all over the battle royale map, in lieu of making it “easy to spam build” with the intention of wanting builds to “be a bit more deliberate,” according to their explanation for the nerf. While Epic Games wanted to stick to their guns to fix issues like turtling and the like, it seems that removing Turbo Builds might not have been the most popular way to go about addressing problems that the devs are seeing. In an August 28 announcement, Epic Games are making the game “feel exactly the same as it did” before the Turbo Build nerf that came packaged with the game’s update. “Now when a structure is destroyed, there will be a delay of 0.15 seconds before another structure can be placed in the same location,” the Fortnite team said. “If two or more players attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed, a random roll will now determine which player’s structure is placed. “ We’ve made some more adjustments to Turbo Building. Drop by our Turbo Build Delay Update blog for more details. https://t.co/aFA6GvvKVn — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) August 28, 2019 While all might not seem back to normal since players will still feel a long delay, but only after attempting to replace a mat that’s been destroyed. The devs say that the new replacement delay is “to reduce the impact that ping has on “taking a wall.’” Going a bit deeper into preventing pings from determining a fight, Epic Games are implementing a “random roll” if two or more players “attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed.” Another goal the Fortnite devs want to take care of with the random roll is “mitigate situations where spamming walls in the same location prevents all incoming damage to the defender.” The Turbo Build revert marks the second major Fortnite change in Season X due to vehement backlash from the game’s community. Previously the Fortnite devs were slammed by its players for the overpowered influence BRUTE mechs were having on the game. After similar pushback from the devs, they eventually caved into popular demands. The full explanation from Epic Games can be read below, as provided in their August 28 blog post. TURBO BUILD DELAY UPDATE 8.28.2019 By The Fortnite Team Hey all, The Turbo Build delay adjustments we made yesterday to subsequent structure pieces placed have been changed back to their previous value, 0.005* seconds. Your ability to perform “90s” and “waterfall” should feel exactly the same as it did before yesterday’s changes. We’ve also added some of the “Next Steps” that were mentioned in yesterday’s Turbo Build Changes blog. Now when a structure is destroyed, there will be a delay of 0.15 seconds before another structure can be placed in the same location. If two or more players attempt to build a structure in the same location at the same time right after a piece has been destroyed, a random roll will now determine which player’s structure is placed. With this, we aim to reduce the impact that ping has on “taking a wall” as well as mitigate situations where spamming walls in the same location prevents all incoming damage to the defender. What Changed? Turbo Building timing for placing subsequent pieces changed back to 0.005* seconds from 0.15 seconds. – After a structure is destroyed, there will be a timer of 0.15 seconds before another piece can be placed in the same location. If two players are attempting to place a piece at the same time and location where a piece was just destroyed, a random roll will determine whose piece is placed, instead of ping playing such a large role. – – Drop in now to try these changes!

  • Epic Games appeals after Apple wins Fortnite lawsuit – Dexerto

Epic Games appeals after Apple wins Fortnite lawsuit Epic GamesAfter losing their Fortnite lawsuit against Apple and needing to pay $3.5m in damages, Epic Games has decided to appeal the decision in a bid to win more rights for developers. The lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple started more than a year ago after the tech giants removed Fortnite from the iOS App Store due to an extra payment option that allowed the developers to avoid paying the 30% revenue cut that Apple takes. The case came to an end on September 10, after a judge decided Epic Games breached their contract with Apple and ordered them to pay back 30% of all the revenue earned, which was around $3.5 million. However, the judge also issued a permanent injunction that imposes new restrictions on Apple’s App Store rules. From December 9 onwards, all apps must allow developers to include alternative payment options. Still, that wasn’t enough to appease Epic Games. Their CEO Tim Sweeney claimed the ruling “isn’t a win for developers or for consumers” and vowed to “keep fighting,” and now he’s backed up those words by appealing the decision. The official document says: “Notice is hereby given that Epic Games, Inc appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit from the final judgment entered on September 10, 2021, and all orders leading to or producing that judgment.” It didn’t specify what the grounds of the appeal might be. However, it’s believed their main line of argument could be antitrust claims since the judge pointed out they didn’t focus on it much as they potentially could have in the case. So, while the case has more or less been resolved, the tension between the two companies and the fight to prove who is right and wrong is still raging on. Epic Games is adamant that they’re championing the fight for fair competition on digital platforms for all developers.

Fortnite Players Who Use Keyboard and Mouse on Console Will Soon Start Matching Up Against Each Other Epic Games has announced that it is working on matchmaking tech that will pair up players based on their choice of peripherals in Fortnite: Battle Royale. This means that players who use keyboard and mouse on console will soon be matching up against each other. This news became apparent after someone posted an image on Reddit suggesting that players should not be allowed to use keyboard and mouse on console. After the post started gaining some traction, an Epic Games representative named ‘JustMooney1’ commented with this new information: Hi! We’re actually working on some matchmaking tech, on the way, that’ll pair you against folks based on your choice of peripherals. More info on this coming next week, but tl;dr if you’re on KB+M you’ll be against KB+M. Another Reddit user commented on the post, asking whether this new matchmaking tech will be only for consoles or other platforms, to which Epic rep ‘MrPopoTFS’ had this response: More information will become available next week which should hopefully clear up some commonly asked questions around this. Although the Fortnite community will have to wait for more information, many should be thrilled by the implications of this announcement from Epic. Despite the fact that Epic have publicly stated that the use of keyboard and mouse on consoles is fully allowed and legitimate, many in the community feel that those players have a significant advantage over those who use a controller. Interestingly enough, Epic has previously held a staunch position regarding this issue, so this new development could be yet another sign that the developers are prioritizing community feedback over their own visions for the game.

Epic Games Announces Major Changes Coming to the Next Version of the Playground LTM in Fortnite The new Playground mode in Fortnite: Battle Royale has received widespread positive reviews from the game’s vast player-base. As a result, not only has it been changed from a Limited Time Mode to a permanent one, Epic Games has also announced that it will be making some major changes to the next version. Having gone through the feedback they’ve received from the community, Epic announced on July 5th that a second version of the Playground LTM will be releasing on July 12th, following a brief downtime. The biggest change coming to the next version is that a team selection option will be implemented within the mode, allowing players to spawn in as opponents rather than teammates if they so choose. This feature will have several in-game effects that come along with it, which include the following: 1v1s and 2v2s – Aim assist for controllers – Editing other player’s structures – Traps affecting teammates/enemies correctly – Highlighting teammates on the map – Damaging enemies with your pickaxe – Epic also announced that Playground LTM replays will eventually become accessible, but not until the release of the v5.0 game update, which is expected to launch sometime next week. We’ve heard your first round of feedback for the Playground LTM and are working towards adding functionality to the next version. https://t.co/gxRe7pKP2C — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) July 5, 2018 Most, if not all of the changes on that list have been concepts and ideas heavily discussed by the Fortnite community since the mode was released. These incoming changes are yet another example of how quickly Epic reacts when receiving feedback, particularly when it concerns keeping the gaming experience fresh, fun, and best tailored to the needs and wants of the players. The entirety of Epic’s announcement can be read below, or on the FortniteBR Reddit page: – Heya folks, We appreciate all of the awesome feedback we’ve received and are beginning work on the next version of Playground. We’ll be turning off the Playground LTM on Thursday, July 12th as we take it back under construction for the next version. For the next version of Playground we’re hoping to include functionality that would allow team selection options within the Playground itself. Here’s a few things you would gain with the ability to select teams: 1v1s and 2v2s – Aim assist for controllers – Editing other player’s structures – Traps affecting teammates/enemies correctly – Highlighting teammates on the map – Damaging enemies with your pickaxe – The Playground LTM represents our first step into what a full creative mode looks like in Fortnite. And remember, you will have until the release of v5.0 to access your Playground LTM replays. Thank you and let us know what else you’d love to see in a future version!

  • Epic Games Announces Improvement to Fortnite Account Security – Dexerto

Epic Games Announces Improvement to Fortnite Account Security Along with Fortnite’s V5.3 update, Epic Games has announced an improvement to the game’s account security for players. Fortnite’s V5.3 update includes a slew of additions and improvements – as well as a security update. In order to better protect players, Epic Games’ Fortnite team has made multiple improvements to the game’s security in regards to user accounts. The team announced an initiative to support offline authenticators, such as Google and Microsoft Authenticator. According to their post, this addition will help security go beyond their regular two-factor authentication, and could include methods like one-click approval or SMS codes to support smartphone users in the near future. Alongside this improvement came a fix concerning ‘credential stuffing.’ Credential stuffing occurs when users’ passwords are the same for multiple accounts, which can end up in what is known as a password dump. Hackers can then use information found in these dumps to break into players’ accounts. To combat this, the Fortnite team is now carrying out a multi-layered defense protocol meant to protect users from these virtual dumpster divers. Their security squad now regularly searches for new dumps and uses an automated system to discern possible threats to unprotected accounts. If a password match is found within a dump, users will receive a password reset prompt, allowing them to change their account information before a hacker can take advantage of the match. Finally, the team stated that they are revising players’ security notifications to avoid email overload. They expressed a desire to focus on unusual login patterns by increasing two-factor authentication, as well as improving their account recovery process. That’s not all – users who enable two-factor authentication get a fun bonus. Upon enabling this tool, players will receive the Boogiedown Winners’ emote at no cost as a perk for protecting their account. That’s something to dance about!

  • Epic Games Announces Major Balancing Changes and Adjustments For All SMG Weapons in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games Announces Major Balancing Changes and Adjustments For All SMG Weapons in Fortnite Epic Games have released a live update adjusting the SMG weapons in Fortnite Battle Royale. The balancing changes have been made to all three types currently in the game: SMG, Compact SMG, and Silenced SMG. The news of these changes was announced by Epic via a post on the Fortnite Twitter page, and subsequently on the FortniteBR Reddit page. We’ve pushed an update live adjusting SMGs, get all the details here: https://t.co/0LUYI5A8sD — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) July 25, 2018 Here is the list of all balancing changes made to the SMG weapons: SMG and Compact SMG accuracy bonus reduced from 35% to 15%. – SMG damage reduced from 19/20/21 to 17/18/19. – Compact SMG damage reduced from 23/24 to 21/22. – SMG fire rate reduced from 13 to 12. – Compact SMG fire rate reduced from 11 to 10. – SMG, Compact SMG, and Silenced SMG damage falloff. – Range reduced from 2400/3500/5000 to 2000/3000/4000. – Percentage reduced from 100/80/65% to 100/70/40%. – Rare SMG and Compact SMGs drop rates slightly reduced. – The update released to apply these adjustments is a live hotfix, meaning that there is no downtime or manual installation required. This comes in response to the recently heightened unrest among the majority of Fortnite’s casual and professional player-bases in regards to the overpowered nature of SMGs, particularly with the new Compact variety. However, as Epic Games has proven in the past, community feedback plays a huge role in the development of the popular BR title, and this is just another instance where Epic has not hesitated to implement major changes based on players’ opinions and criticisms.

  • Epic Games Announces Fix for ‘Ghost Peeking’ in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games Announces Fix for ‘Ghost Peeking’ in Fortnite A major issue has been resolved in Fortnite: Battle Royale after massive amounts of community feedback. If you have graced the Fortnite battlefield in recent months, there is a high chance that you have died to an opponent that you were unable to see behind a ramp, wall, or other forms of cover. This was known as ‘Ghost Peeking’ around the Fortnite community, which was an exploit where a player could fire over cover while crouching up-hill, and quickly became an issue among competitors. In the latest V.5.1 update released on July 24, Epic Games implemented an update to fix this problem for future matches and provided an in-depth look at how the new POV will look in a Reddit post which can be viewed below. Design Chat: “Ghost Peeking” “Hey guys, let’s talk about “Ghost Peeking”. When crouching up-hill, you can sometimes fire over cover without actually being seen by your target. Here, I’ve enabled some developer debug to show what’s happening:” The yellow line is a trace from the center of your camera. The green line is supposed to be the bullet trace. So why is that happening? Our animation system does some adjustments to the character to make sure that the feet are always positioned nicely on slopes, like this: Unfortunately, in some cases this can sometimes lower the character mesh down far further than we intended. Oops! In 5.10, we’ve included a fix for this issue so that any time you can shoot someone, they will be able to see you, and shoot you. This is what it looks like now: More information can be found in the official Reddit post on the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit.

But the early success coupled with a stronger initiative to get the Epic Games Store off the ground will now see the project grow. In a video, Epic Games revealed that the program will no longer be exclusive to Fortnite projects, meaning creators can now get supported through any other game in the Epic Games Store. Epic Games is making Support-A-Creator a permanent program and extending it beyond Fortnite to cover all games on the Epic Games Store. Review the eligibility criteria and apply to be a Creator at https://t.co/HhEXH2TxkB pic.twitter.com/VNY5E3FeUD — Epic Games (@EpicGames) February 5, 2019 The expansions comes at the heels of the incredible reception the program got from streamer’s big and small, as it’s given many a new opportunity to not only get a small profit from their work but also grow their communities along the way. In the announcement, it was also revealed that developers can also choose to give free games to active creators, as well as allow early game access as they see fit. To become a part of the program, someone with at least 1,000 followers “on any major social media platform” can apply if they also agree to follow the Affiliate Agreement and the Creator Code of Conduct. Once accepted, creators will be able to give their unique link to anyone. If the link is used in a purchase, creators will get a small piece of the transaction. The wider selection of games to create content for will surely open up the opportunity for more streamers and content creators to build on their personal channels or brands, while Epic Games enjoys the increase use of their store.

  • Epic Games announces Explorer Pop-Up Cup set to begin with Season 7 – Dexerto

Epic Games announces Explorer Pop-Up Cup set to begin with Season 7 Epic GamesEpic Games recently announced changes coming to Fortnite’s Pop-Up Cup’s on Reddit, confirming major changes for the NA Winter Royale Finals. The Pop-Up Cup rules were introduced with patch v6.30 on November 14 for Epic to experiment with a mode that rewards players for engaging in more firefights. In the events, players can still earn 50 health, or 50 points of shield if on max health, for each kill they earn, after the changes. The new changes will now reward players with resources for each kill as well as health or shields. In addition to some other changes, the resource gathering rate has been increased by 40 percent and there’s an increased chance of supply drops later on in the game. These changes will definitely affect gameplay in upcoming Pop-Up Cups, and they’re set to start at the beginning of Season 7. The full list of updates and changes from the Reddit post can be found below: Hey all, Thanks for everyone’s help with playtesting various settings throughout the past few Pop-Up Cups. We wanted to give a quick update on where we’re at and what to expect as we operate the Winter Royale NA Finals and close out the year. In the next Pop-Up Cup we’ll be diving further into elimination incentivization by granting resources when eliminating an enemy. The goal here is to provide an avenue for players to refill their materials by going on the offensive, especially late in a match when safely harvesting can prove extra difficult – and to generally reward more aggressive play, considering that players tend to expend resources when securing an elimination. Storm Surge is an option to prevent extreme tournament scenarios where passive play is resulting in more players than desired – both in terms of the entertainment of the broadcast, and for the sake of server performance when a lot of players are alive in a very small space. Our hope is that this is required very seldomly and as a last resort, and we’ll be making a couple experimental adjustments to reflect that and target a few specific points in the match. Following the launch of Season 7, we’ll be running the ‘Explorer Pop-Up Cup’ as both Solo & Duo which will feature the following gameplay elements: Adjusted material cap to 700/500/300 resources. – Eliminating an enemy player will immediately grant 100/50/50 resources. – Eliminating an enemy player will grant +50 health or shield. Fixed an issue which prevented players from receiving elimination rewards if a player they downed was eliminated by the Down-But-Not-Out timer ending or if their team was fully eliminated. – There is a known issue where trap eliminations will not grant any elimination rewards which will be fixed in a future release. – – Resource harvesting rate increased by 40%. – Increased chances of supply drops in later circles. – Storm Circle #9 now travels twice as far, but takes twice as long to close. – Storm Surge will only activate up to three times per game: If more than 70 players are remaining after Circle #2 closes. – If more than 50 players are remaining after Circle #4 closes. – If more than 30 players are remaining after Circle #6 closes. – – Additionally, we’ll be using the Pop-Up Cups to test limiting the number of matches each player can play during a tournament session. This has been set to an intentionally high value of 30 Total Matches to still enable the use of Pop-Up Cups as a practice environment, but we may utilize this tool more aggressively for future competitive tournaments like Winter Royale. The North America Winter Royale Finals will be held using the above settings on December 11th & 12th. During the holidays we’ll continue running events nightly in all regions on the Pop-Up Cup settings, alternating between Solo/Duo/Squad throughout the week.

There will be no downtime for this update. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) March 28, 2019 Players were immediately concerned that the announcement didn’t include any reference to the siphon settings, Infantry Rifle or others. Though players will appreciate any patch that takes away problematic bugs or issues that hinder the game’s performance, the update’s announcement was bombarded by a frustrated community who had a unifying message. Revert. Everyone from casual players to the pro community thinks the changes in the 8.20 update left the game in a worse state than it was before it landed. From the siphon settings that no longer rewards players with resources upon earning eliminations to the Infantry Rifle switching from projectile bullets to hit-scan, there were a lot of unpopular adjustments. Popular streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins even had his apprehensions about the changes, and felt the update was to make the core modes “a place of safety for newer players.” With a wave of negative feedback from all corners of the Fortnite community, the abrupt update is a welcomed sight to those that want things back the way they were. Some players where even joking about the horrors that the v8.20 update brought with streamer Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop heavily alluding to the recent woes of the patch. Had the worst nightmare ever last night: I was playing Fortnite and they removed the health per kill, materials per kill, and faster farming rates in public games… I know. Terrifying. • Epic Games announce screen resolution rule for Fortnite World Cup and players aren’t happy – Dexerto

Epic Games announce screen resolution rule for Fortnite World Cup and players aren’t happy Epic Games have dropped a bombshell announcement about screen resolution during the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers, and it’s caught most competitive players by surprise. What is screen resolution and why does it matter in Fortnite? Screen resolution is the way that the pixels on a screen are arranged, as it determines how many pixels there are both horizontally and vertically. In recent months, a lot of competitive Fortnite players have turned to what is known as a ‘stretched resolution,’ which places a lot more pixels horizontally than the default resolution. The reason why stretched resolution has become so prevalent is that most players contend that it is the easiest and most comfortable to use in-game, despite the fact that it’s not ideal for spectators and viewers. Epic announce new screen resolution rule for competitive On April 3, in their latest release of the Competitive Fortnite State of Development, Epic announced that in all competitive playlists, including the Arena mode, the aspect ration will be locked to 16:9. This means that players will no longer be able to use stretch resolution and will have to go back to the native resolution that comes default in Fortnite. The first in-game tournament that this new change will be applied to is the upcoming $500,000 Fortnite World Cup Warmup, which is open for all players to try and qualify. Following that, all ten weeks of the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers will also be played using native screen resolution. Since all of the competitive modes in Fortnite are cross-platform by default, they likely want to ensure that players on PC do not have the substantial advantage of being able to use custom resolutions while console players are stuck playing native. Community reacts to new screen resolution rule As expected, such a massive announcement has garnered a lot of attention on social media from prominent competitive players as well as popular content creators who may not always play competitively. While most have understood the reasoning behind the change, a lot of players are confused and angered by the timing of it, since Epic had allowed stretch resolution for months and are now implementing a huge change to it less than two weeks before the World Cup qualifiers begin. Here are the best reactions found on Twitter so far: if everyone is forced to native it’s w.e to me but just seems super backwards from where we were at during secret skirmish — Tom 72hrs (@72hrs) April 3, 2019 Stretched res has officially been banned 10 days before worlds. • Epic Games announce release date for ‘Undo Purchase’ button in Item Shop – Dexerto

Epic Games announce release date for ‘Undo Purchase’ button in Item Shop Epic GamesAn ‘Undo Purchase’ button is coming soon to the Fortnite Battle Royale Item Shop, and developers Epic Games have already confirmed when it’s expected to go live. While there hasn’t been much to complain about the Item Shop, the one main grievance that players have had with it is the finality with which cosmetic items are sold, as there is no free way to refund them. The way the shop has always worked is once a player clicks on the ‘purchase’ button on any cosmetic item’s page, the sale is immediately initiated with no free recourse. Undo Purchase button confirmed In an effort to appease the player-base, an Epic Games employee confirmed on Reddit that an Undo Purchase button would be added to the Item Shop as a way for players to cancel any purchases they had potentially made by accident. The only catch of this new feature will be that players will only have up to five minutes after having made the purchase to refund it, as long as they did not load into a match after making the purchase. Undo Purchase button release date announced The initial announcement for the Undo Purchase button made back in March did not include a timeline for when the feature would go live in the Item Shop. On April 19, after weeks of players nagging on Reddit, the same employee revealed that the button is “currently slated for Season 9,” which is expected to kick off in the first half of May. To this point, most seasons have lasted about 10 weeks, or 70 days, which would put the end of Season 8 and the start of Season 9 at around May 8. However, the wording of the Epic employee’s announcement does not specify when during the ninth season the Undo Purchase button will go live, so it could happen after the season begins. Why don’t players like the current system The problem that players have with the way the Item Shop currently works is that there is no additional step between clicking the Purchase button on an item and the sale going through. This means that any items purchased accidentally can only be refunded by using one of three precious Refund Tokens each player gets for the lifetime of their account, assuming there are any left. While the Undo Purchase button is a step in the right direction, many players feel that it still might not be enough, some proposing for a confirmation screen to be added as well.

  • Epic Games Announce New ‘Fall Skirmish’ Competition Series Featuring $10 Million Prize Pool – Dexerto

Epic Games Announce New ‘Fall Skirmish’ Competition Series Featuring $10 Million Prize Pool Epic Games have announced a brand new competition series called ‘Fall Skirmish,’ the second ever developer-supported esports competition for Fortnite Battle Royale. The announcement came via a post on the Fortnite Twitter page on September 10. The competition will feature a massive prize pool of $10 million and be played over the course of six weeks. The weather may be cooling down, but the battle is heating up. Fall Skirmish starts soon, with $10,000,000 awarded across 6 weeks. Stay tuned for major details dropping later this week! As of now, it is unclear how similar this series will be to its Summer counterpart, which focused its player-base around big name content creators, pro players, and those who performed will in the ‘Showdown’ in-game events. It will also be interesting to see whether Epic Games will have a set format for this Skirmish, or if they will continue testing out new formats, as they did with the previous series, which featured a different scoring and play format virtually every week. It is worth noting that the Fall Skirmish will feature a larger prize pool awarded over the course of a shorter period of time than the Summer Skirmish.

  • Epic Games Announce Major News About Keyboard and Mouse Matchmaking in Fortnite on Console – Dexerto

Epic Games Announce Major News About Keyboard and Mouse Matchmaking in Fortnite on Console Austin Evans YTEpic Games have announced that major changes are coming to matchmaking in Fortnite on console platforms. Players who use a mouse and keyboard on console will now be matched up against others who use the same peripherals in-game. Epic broke down this new ‘input-based matchmaking’ system in the recently released August issue of their ‘State of Development’ online post. Input-Based Matchmaking We have an upgrade to our matchmaking logic that will allow for a more even playing field when enjoying Fortnite with your input device of choice. In an upcoming release we’ll be implementing input based matchmaking, which will pair you against players who are using the same peripherals (e.g. controller vs controller, KB+M vs KB+M).Let’s break that down: – If anyone in your party uses a mouse and keyboard on console, you will be matchmade with PC players and other KB+M players (as if you partied up with a PC player). Essentially, this establishes a system that will use cross-platform servers that are currently in place to ensure that players who match up against each other are using similar peripherals. The post does specify that cross-play rules would still trump over this new matchmaking, as having a PC player in any party will automatically designate it to a cross-platform server. The current crossplay rules still apply. For example, partying up with a PC player will always put you in a PC pool, regardless of your input type. Although this news had been hinted at in the past, this is the first time that Epic have really gotten into detail about it. According to the post, this new matchmaking system will be implemented in an upcoming update, although a more specific time-frame is not provided. These changes represent a major change in philosophy from Epic Games, who had previously been staunch in allowing players to use mouse and keyboard freely on console. However, with many in community deeming the current system unfair for those who use a controller, it appears that the developers have prioritized community feedback over their own vision once again.

  • Epic Games announce major news regarding Glider Re-Deploy in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games announce major news regarding Glider Re-Deploy in Fortnite The Glider Re-Deploy feature in Fortnite Battle Royale is set for a major change, according to an announcement made by Epic Games. The Fortnite developers put out a blog post on November 13 revealing that Glider Re-Deploy will be disabled in all default modes in the near future, including Solos, Duos, and Squads. The feature is set to be removed from the standard modes in the upcoming v6.30 update, which is expected to go live sometime this week. This comes in the wake of many among the game’s player-base complaining about the mechanic, some claiming that it suited higher level player better and “ruined” the game for casual and average players. This feedback has been heard by Epic, who acknowledged it in their blog post explaining the decision. “Two weeks ago we began our Glider Re-deploy test in default modes. We did not live up to expectations of quickly iterating on the mechanic and communicating plans,” they wrote. “We are disabling Glider Re-Deploy in all default modes starting in v6.30. We really appreciate all of the engaged discussion and encourage you to keep the feedback coming!” Glider Re-Deploy is not being completely removed from the game however; it will remain in the larger team modes such as Soaring 50’s, Disco Domination, and others, as well as Playground, which will allow “ongoing experimentation with this feature.” This leaves the door open for Epic to potentially make adjustments to the mechanic and implement it back into the core modes of Fortnite sometime in the future. While the idea behind Glider Re-Deploy had some sense to it, many players felt that the domino effect from it being in the game changed things to a degree that they weren’t prepared for. With the mechanic in place, fall damage and getting caught in the Storm became non-issues, which consequently mitigated the need for players to farm resources and collect movement items such as Jump Pads and Grapplers. Now, for the time being, players will have to re-adjust their play-styles to how it was before Glider Re-Deploy was introduced, which could take some time getting used to. Source – Epic Games

  • Epic Games announce Jordan collaboration for Fortnite Battle Royale – Dexerto

Epic Games announce Jordan collaboration for Fortnite Battle Royale Epic Games have announced that they are teaming up with the iconic Jordan brand for a special collaboration in Fortnite Battle Royale. Fortnite Battle Royale is one of the biggest franchises on the market today, so it comes as little surprise that the Jordan brand have linked up with Epic Games. With Jordan widely recognized as one of the biggest names in sneaker culture, the collaboration sees two of the most popular entities in the world linking to create new, exciting content for fans of their respective companies. What is the Fortnite and Michael Jordan collaboration? Little is known about the upcoming Fortnite and Jordan collaboration, which was first announced on Tuesday, May 21. Epic Games released a cryptic tweet on May 21 featuring an emoji of a goat, and one of a basketball, but many were unsure as to what it meant. An updated to the game’s built-in news feed confirmed that it was actually linked to a collaboration with the Jordan brand, with the use of the goat emoji referencing Michael Jordan himself, who many considered is the greatest basketball player of all time. The addition to the news feed is titled “Game recognize game,” but gives little else away, telling players to “drop in tomorrow.” What the collaboration will entail is currently unknown, but it’s likely that we will see the return of basketball skins, although we may see Jordan branded uniforms and gear instead thanks to the special collaboration. Some think we may also see a special in-game event to tie in with the closing stages of the NBA Playoffs, much like the John Wick event that was added to the game to promote the release of the new Parabellum movie. Thankfully, Fortnite fans won’t have long wait to find out what is coming, as the Fortnite Battle Royale and Jordan collaboration will be included in the v9.1 update which releases on May 22. UPDATE Hours after the initial announcement of the crossover, a teaser was released from the official Jordan Twitter and instagram accounts that gave the first look at what appears to be a brand-new skin set to be released with the v9.10 update. • Epic Games announce last minute changes to Fortnite Secret Skirmish schedule and prize pool – Dexerto

Epic Games announce last minute changes to Fortnite Secret Skirmish schedule and prize pool Epic Games have been forced to make changes to the Fortnite Battle Royale Secret Skirmish just 24 hours before its set to kick off. When the Secret Skirmish was first announced, Epic had revealed that there would be four competitions played in total – one Solos, one Duos, and two secret tournaments for which the details had not been disclosed. However, on February 13, Epic Games announced that the two additional competitions they had planned for the Skirmish will not be played due to technical issues. “Unfortunately, after testing on-site, we ran into technical issues that prevent us from holding these bonus competitions with the confidence needed to produce the show,” Epic stated. “We are removing the secret evening “operations” from the original schedule, and will continue with the Solos and Duos competition as planned.” This means that the Secret Skirmish will now be solely composed of the Solos and Duos tournaments, the former to be played on February 14 and the latter on February 15. The $25,000 total in prize money designated for the additional competitions will be reallocated into the Duos prize pool, which now sits at $100,000. The prize pool for the Solos competition remains at a whopping $400,000. Epic never announced any details about those “secret” additional competitions, and it’s unclear whether they will ever reveal them, considering that they’ve now been cancelled. When announcing this change of schedule, Epic did say that these tournaments were going to be non-Battle Royale competitions that were meant to “illustrate more competitive options in the Fortnite competitive ecosystem.” With so many prominent content creators and pro players participating in this Skirmish, many were speculating that Epic were planning on having them test out new competitive features still in their experimental phase. You can check out all of the details for the $500,000 competition, including the scheduling, confirmed players, streams, and more, by visiting our dedicated Secret Skirmish hub. • Fortnite: Epic Games announce how they will replace ineligible Winter Royale qualifiers – Dexerto

Fortnite: Epic Games announce how they will replace ineligible Winter Royale qualifiers While only 200 players each from North America and Europe made the cut after Fortnite’s Winter Royale qualifiers, it looks like there may be some hope for those who fell just short. The Winter Royale qualifiers took place over the course of two days on November 24 and 25 as players competed using the in-game tournament system to rack up enough points to qualify. Despite the majority of players not making the initial cut, Epic Games Esports Coordinator Matt Layman announced some good news for such players on November 27. In a series of Tweets, Layman confirmed that there will be alternates and substitutes invited to the Winter Royale Finals in the event that someone in the Top 200 fails to show up. The eligibility survey is going out now to the top performers of #WinterRoyale. We’ve also included a small number of alternates/subs who are just outside the top 200 to fill any missing spots. — Loomin #TeamPizza :pizza: (@Loomin__) November 27, 2018 Given that the Winter Royale was announced without much notice, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see some players unable to compete due to prior commitments made. While Layman did confirm that emails were sent out to players outside of the Top 200, he also clarified that simply receiving such an email will not guarantee your entry to the Finals. “For clarity: If you receive an email, but are outside the top 200 – you are considered an alternate. Depending on the eligibility survey, you may be moved into the top 200,” Layman wrote in a follow-up to the original Tweet. One of the main eligibility requirements for the Winter Royale is that players must be 16 years of age or older by November 29, 2018. As long as alternates meet the age requirement, in addition to the other eligibility survey criteria, they could very well be on their way to competing for the $1 million prize pool. This will hopefully be a small solace for players who had to battle through the frantic qualifiers that were rife with hackers from start to finish.

  • Epic Games announce changes to fall damage in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games announce changes to fall damage in Fortnite After introducing Balloons into Fortnite, Epic Games have issued an update on the way fall damage is calculated. Balloons were the newest items to hit Fortnite with the V6.21 update on November 1, allowing players to reach new heights in-game. Along with the Balloons, Epic Games had made changes to how fall damage is calculated, but it looks like the change wasn’t implemented how the developer wanted. Prior to the V6.21 update, fall damage was calculated by how high players were, but this was changed to a velocity-based system to accommodate the Balloons, With the introduction of Balloons, we added a different formula for how fall damage is calculated. The new formula uses velocity (as opposed to falheight), and we probably made it a bit too aggressive. Epic will now be issuing a hotfix to reduce the fall damage to non-lethal levels in scenarios where players are currently dying. There’s no word yet on exactly when the hotfix will be implemented, but Epic confirmed that it would be live “shortly.” In addition to bringing in Balloons in the V6.21 update, three different weapons were also put into the vault while new clues at the upcoming in-game event were also found in the game files. The fall damage update from Epic can be view in its entirety below: Balloon Fall Damage With the introduction of Balloons, we added a different formula for how fall damage is calculated. The new formula uses velocity (as opposed to fall height), and we probably made it a bit too aggressive. We’re currently working on a hotfix to reduce the damage amount in similar scenarios so it’s non-lethal. This will be live shortly and we’re curious to hear your feedback. Moving forward, we’ll be looking at other ways to make it obvious that fall velocity will result in fall damage. Source – Reddit

  • Epic Games address major vehicle damage bug in Fortnite Battle Royale – Dexerto

Epic Games address major vehicle damage bug in Fortnite Battle Royale Epic GamesFortnite Battle Royale players have been experiencing frustrating issues with vehicle hitboxes recently but, on April 27, developers Epic Games announced they had issued a fix. Vehicle hitbox issues frustrate players The issues surrounding vehicle hitboxes in Fortnite Battle Royale have been a small topic in the community until now but, as more vehicles have been added and they play a more significant role in the meta, new issues have been discovered. Many of the issues players are reporting surround the Driftboard, the single-person ground vehicle that was added in the v7.40 update. The issues involve the hitbox appearing too large, and blocking damage against the player who is using the vehicle. Now, though, Epic has issued a fix. Epic Games fixes vehicle hitbox problems The clip shows a player lining up a hunting rifle shot, which is clearly aiming at the opponent’s character model. However, the game mistakenly registers the shot as having hit the Driftboard, thus granting an unfair protection to the player who is using it, as the vehicle absorbs the damage the player should have taken. 600Epic quickly responded to the clip stating that they were looking into it and, just a few hours later, they announced via Reddit that they had issued a fix. “We’ve just rolled out a fix for the issue that caused players to not properly take damage while in a vehicle (Driftboard + Quad Crasher),” says the Epic statement. They also state they are investigating ongoing issues with texture rendering in Retail Row and Tilted Towers, but do not have a fix ready yet. Epic Games have recently come under fire for their handling of community issues, such as their reluctance to revert siphon changes made earlier in Season 8. In spite of the criticisms, the quick response is a testament to Epic’s commitment to keeping their game as bug-free as possible, particularly with the ongoing Fortnite World Cup Qualifiers.

  • Epic Games adjust spawn rate of Cube Monsters in Fortnitemares playlists – Dexerto

Epic Games adjust spawn rate of Cube Monsters in Fortnitemares playlists Following the release of the Fortnitemares event on October 24, Epic Games have made some adjustment to the mode. While many were looking forward to the event after Epic teased it for days ahead of the event’s start date, some in the community weren’t happy with how the Cube Monsters affected the game. Epic has once again shown their willingness to listen to feedback from players and have completed a change to how often Cube Monsters spawn in the late game of matches. Cube Monsters were one of the major editions to the game with October 24’s V6.20 update. They spawn from Large Cube Fragments that are found near corrupted areas and are also found at Small Cube Fragments that randomly spawn throughout the game. It’s these Small Cube Fragments that were of issue for most players as the heavy presence of Cube Monsters in the final, smaller circles, which has now led to Epic Games drastically reducing the spawn rates of Cube Monsters after the first circle. To reduce the amount of Cube Monsters in the late game, we’ve lowered the number of dynamic spawners in the Fortnitemares playlists -Phase 1: from 85 to 85 (unchanged) -Phase 2: from 40 to 25 -Phase 3: from 30 to 15 -Phase 4: from 10 to 7 -Phase 5: from 10 to 5 -Phase 6: from 10 to 5 -Phase 7: from 5 to 3 -Phase 8: from 5 to 3 -Phase 9: from 5 to 3 Drop in and earn yourself a Victory Royale! While the first circle remains unchanged, the final ones have all seen their Cube Monster spawn rate dropped by anywhere from 30% to 50%. This isn’t the only change that Epic has implemented in the last 24 hours as they not only disabled Cube Monsters and other items at the TwitchCon Fall Skirmish event this weekend but also added a new prize incentive to the same tournament. Fortnitemares runs until November 26 and brings new skins and other cosmetics for players to chase. Part 2 of the Fortnitemares challenges were revealed on October 26 and tasks players with destroying ghost locations across the map.

  • Epic Games address Fortnite Secret Skirmish screen resolution controversy – Dexerto

Epic Games address Fortnite Secret Skirmish screen resolution controversy Epic Games have moved quickly to fix an issue regarding the use of custom resolutions at this week’s Fortnite Secret Skirmish tournament that had caused immediate backlash among pro players attending the event. Fortnite’s developer had initially stated that players would be able to use custom screen resolutions at the tournament, which delighted many players who would be attending as many play on a stretched resolution when competing at home. However, rumors began to surface on Monday, February 11 that stated competitors at the Secret Skirmish would not be able to use any resolution they wanted, but rather would have to pick from one of four preset resolutions dictated by Epic Games. FaZe Clan star Dennis ‘Cloak’ Lepore was one of the first to tweet his frustrations about the situation, writing: “I have been playing stretched resolution because we were told we would be allowed to use it at the Secret Skirmish. Found out a day before the tournament that I can’t use my resolution.” Been playing stretched res cause we were told we were allowed to use it for the tournament. Find out a day before the tourney I can’t use my stretched res. LOOOOOL — Creator code:fazecloak (@cloakzy) February 11, 2019 Other pro players like Thomas ‘72hrs’ Mulligan and Noah ‘Vivid’ Wright revealed their dismay at the decision, with Ghost Gaming’s Timothy ‘Bizzle’ Miller stating that he was “going to freak out.” It appears that the situation has been fixed, as an Epic Games employee stated in a Discord server with pro players that they “should have a workaround solution on site that allows for any resolution.” A number of unhappy pro players have already discussed boycotting the Secret Skirmish due to the rule that states they must use equipment provided by Epic Games, but this move may appease unhappy players just days before the event. The Secret Skirmish is a $500,000 Fortnite tournament set to take place on February 14 and 15. The event will be used as an opportunity for Epic Games to prepare for the Fortnite World Cup which is scheduled for later this year.

  • Epic Games address frustrating sprint bug in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic Games address frustrating sprint bug in Fortnite Fortnite gamers have been complaining about an odd glitch, in which their character is not able to sprinting as normal since the V8.00 update was released on February 28 – but Epic have finally issued a fix. The issue, in which the in-game character is unable to sprint after triggering an animation, has been a hot topic on Reddit since the bug was noticed by players following the most recent update. Reddit user ‘Nel_737’ described the problem where his character would be running as normal and then, after an animation as simple as a jump, his “character decides to start walking instead of running” even though the shift key is still being held down. An Epic employee has responded though, on the official FortNiteBR subreddit, stating that a “PC only client update to resolve the issue causing players to stop sprinting if an animation is played while the “Sprint by Default” option is set to OFF”. The post from Epic’s MrPopoTFS finished by saying that a similar patch will be released next week for other platforms, such as on the PS4, Xbox One and mobile devices. There is no specific expected date for the patch on other platforms so, for the moment, console and mobile players will have to bare with Epic as they work on a fix. The quick PC fix though is yet further evidence that Epic is still one of the fastest of any developer to responding to issues.

  • Epic Games to add ‘undo purchase’ button for Fortnite Item Shop refunds, with a catch – Dexerto

Epic Games to add ‘undo purchase’ button for Fortnite Item Shop refunds, with a catch With the Fortnite Battle Royale Item Shop receiving heavy scrutiny and backlash from many players, Epic Games are taking steps to try and make everyone happy. The major controversy currently facing Fortnite’s Item Shop is that there is no feature that asks players to confirm their purchases prior to the sale of a cosmetic item going through. The way the shop works now, and has always worked, is once a player is on any cosmetic item’s page, one press of the ‘Purchase’ button immediately initiates the sale. This has become a problem for many players, primarily those on console, as any accidentally press of the designated button will cause an item to be purchased with no way to cancel the transaction. There is currently a way to refund items in Fortnite, but the process requires the player to use up one of their three lifetime refund tokens, assuming they have any left on their account. Fortunately, Epic Games are looking to help fix this issue by adding a “undo purchase” button in the Item Shop, which will allow players to cancel their previous transaction. The new feature will have a catch however, as players will only have up to five minutes to use on their previous purchase, and cannot use it after they’ve already loaded into a match since making the purchase. Here is the full announcement message for this new button, courtesy of a developer’s post on Reddit: We neither want to add friction for players nor do we want to benefit from accidental purchases or players regretting a purchase. Our initial solution for this was to add a refund token system. As an ongoing iteration, we are going to introduce an “undo” button to the store page that allows you to easily refund without using up a token within a 5 minute time window, assuming you haven’t started a match since purchase. The reactions to the announcement of this new feature have been mixed, with Reddit users commenting their arguments for why they are for or against an ‘undo purchase’ button. Some believe that all of this can be avoided if Epic simply added a confirmation page after the ‘purchase’ button was clicked on a cosmetic item’s page. Others claim that this new feature would not only essentially serve as a confirmation step, but also as a safety net since players can still “accidentally” confirm the same way they incidentally clicked to make the purchase in the first place. As of now, Epic are yet to announce when this new feature will go live in Fortnite, although it could be as early as the v8.10 update, which is set to go live on March 12. It’s important to also note that the addition of this new button will not affect the self refund system that’s currently in place, which will continue to function as normal.

  • Epic Games accidentally leak new Fortnite bundle early: Pulga Locker – Dexerto

Epic Games accidentally leak new Fortnite bundle early: Pulga Locker Epic GamesEpic Games appear to have accidentally leaked the newest bundle coming to the Fortnite item shop, posting it on social media way before it goes live. Since it burst onto the gaming scene back in 2017, Fortnite’s battle royale mode has become synonymous with having some incredible cosmetics – including creative skins for characters. Epic Games have come up with hundreds of characters of their own, dipped into pop culture by doing crossovers with Star Wars, Batman, and Marvel – to name just a few, and even added skins and emotes for some of the biggest Fortnite players around. Only a select few Fortnite content creators have got their own skin and cosmetics through the Fortnite Icon Series, but others have been represented through locker bundles that appear in the store every so often. These locker bundles are made up of a certain player’s favorite skin, pickaxe, glider, weapon wrap, emote, and even spray at times, giving fans a chance to follow in their footsteps. Read More: Fortnite Season 6 ultimate quiz – However, Epic appears to have made a misstep with the newest locker bundle – designed around Brazillian Fortnite pro Pulga – by releasing it on social media early. The official Fortnite Instagram account posted that the new bundle was available as of March 28, way before the item shop is set to refresh. It was quickly picked up on by players and leakers, noting that Epic had seemingly jumped the gun. Pulga’s Locker Bundle will be in tonight’s Item Shop! Fortnite accidentally just posted this image on their Instagram and said the bundle would be “”available now””! pic.twitter.com/KoFDIdmiEN — Shiina (@ShiinaBR) March 28, 2021 On top of the confusion about Epic ‘leaking’ their own new bundle, some players noted that the Sparkplug skin – which is the female skin used in the bundle – is often used by North American pro Clix, and they were surprised it was being used as a part of Pulga’s set. Regardless, the new bundle should be available when the store resets later in the day – which is when the post for the bundle probably should have went live originally.

  • Epic disables boats in Fortnite due to multiple game-breaking glitches – Dexerto

Epic disables boats in Fortnite due to multiple game-breaking glitches Epic GamesEpic Games have been forced to disable Motorboats — one of Fortnite’s best vehicles for traversing the Season 3 map — due to multiple game-breaking glitches giving people infinite items, or potentially plunging them to their death. Boats are key in Fortnite Season 3. While it’s less so nowadays with the water level receding to normal levels, beforehand, it was one of the only ways to get around the map efficiently. Regardless, disabling them would have disastrous consequences for how Fortnite is actually played. Epic has been forced to take that drastic step though after two game-breaking glitches were uncovered. Due to an issue, we’ve temporarily disabled Motorboats in all game modes. We’ll provide an update when this is resolved. pic.twitter.com/B08UWqBdn9 — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) August 3, 2020 “Due to an issue, we’ve temporarily disabled Motorboats in all game modes,” the developers said on August 2. One of the glitches involves the new Coral Castle POI. Home to Aquaman, the Atlantis-themed drop zone has been popular since its introduction on August 1, but it’s proving to be a nuisance to traverse by boat. Read more: What’s at the new Coral Castle POI? – If players rode into the waterfall near Coral Castle with a boat, they’d be able to glitch out of the map. While it’d make them untargetable, they’d slowly drown to death under the map. was looking for the spaceship and then somehow broke the game pic.twitter.com/i5XeQsBBuc — Lucas7yoshi – FESTIVAL ARC??? (@Lucas7yoshi) August 1, 2020 Another glitch allowed players to harvest infinite items like Floppers. Obviously, the repercussions of this are a lot clearer and easier to understand — more healing means you’re more likely to win. The exploit worked by quickly switching between the item and your pickaxe while jumping into a boat. When players then jumped back out, they’d have 1,000,000 of the item while still taking up the same amount of space in your inventory. Without cars being in the game, this leaves Choppas as the only reliable way to get around the Fortnite map. Epic hasn’t put a time frame on how long they expect boats to be out of commission for, but just be mindful of it when you launch into your next game. If you rely on boats to make your rotations, you’ll have to find a new way around pronto.

  • Epic developer confirms major change coming to Fortnite controller building – Dexerto

Epic developer confirms major change coming to Fortnite controller building An Epic Games developer has commented on a post about changes to building options on Fortnite when using a controller, and it is potentially the change all console players have been waiting for. Fortnite’s popularity has a lot to do with the fact that it is available on console as well as PC, meaning that in when it released in September 2017, it was the only battle royale game not exclusive to PC. But, with all battle royale games, PC is still the superior platform to play on, purely because of the range of keys which can be used for all the various actions, and in Fortnite especially, building. On console, building can be more cumbersome, requiring multiple button presses to place a ramp or wall, while on PC it is much more efficient. The very best console players have now practiced to the point where they are lightning quick, but Epic Games is still working on the system to make building on console as seamless as it is on PC. One suggestion came from a fan on Reddit, changing the buttons from simply selecting a building option, to just placing it, effectively cutting out a step in the process. An Epic dev responded saying, “we’re adding an option for this.” Is a bigger necessity for console because right now a build on console is 3-input vs PC’s 2 (build > [select piece > confirm piece]). This change on console would bring them even at 2 But if it came to PC too, it’d be 1-input & still have the advantage. So i’d say probably not? — F.C. Bassey (@FaZeCBass) October 2, 2018 We don’t know when Epic Games plans to add this option into the game, but their turnaround on new updates and features is usually pretty quick, so we should expect this in the near future. It will be most impactful for cross-play lobbies, especially now that Fortnite is completely cross-platform, with Sony allowing it recently with PS4. Multi-platform tournaments would also be helped by improving the building mechanics for controllers, levelling out the playing field more.

  • Epic confirms long-awaited Fortnite pre-edit changes are coming soon – Dexerto

Epic confirms long-awaited Fortnite pre-edit changes are coming soon Epic GamesIt’s been a long time coming, but now Fortnite players can be put at ease: Epic are working on pre-edit changes to make building easier after years of the community petitioning. Pre-editing has been a contentious issue in the Fortnite community for years. They’re on for all players, and helps players quickly place a lot of edited builds. However, most players don’t use pre-editing, so its existence ends up being a hindrance more than anything. It can leave players exposed due to a poor build, something they weren’t intending at the time. A new rallying cry across the community comes across with every new season, pleading with Epic to at least give player the option to disable pre-edits. While they’ve been dodging the issue for quite some time, there’s finally been some solid news. After a year of uncertainty with Epic stating they were “actively considering” it, they’ve now set their course on giving the community what they want. “We don’t have an exact timetable, but we’re going to [add a disable pre-edit option],” community coordinator TheStevieT told players on Reddit. It comes after more clips of players dying because of their pre-edited builds went viral across Reddit and other social media platforms. It’s quite the common occurrence, and with Epic now solidifying their stance, it’s got players excited. That being said, it could be a little while before it’s added. They’ve started work, but without an exact timetable in mind, it could be seasons down the line. One can hope that it’ll be added in Chapter 2 Season 5 at the end of 2020 though. Another Epic staffer, gstaffEpic, clarified that such a change isn’t in any of the Fortnite builds yet. However, it’s getting close, and it’s something they’re “working towards.” It might not be the most explosive subject, but as far as quality of life changes go, this could completely transform the way Fortnite is played. We will update you once more information arises.

  • Fortnite $250,000 Summer Skirmish Week 1 Results After Tournament is Cut Short – Dexerto

Fortnite $250,000 Summer Skirmish Week 1 Results After Tournament is Cut Short The Week 1 Fortnite Summer Skirmish has been cancelled by Epic due to a number of issues plaguing the inaugural tournament. Player camping, boredom and laggy servers caused Epic to pull the plug before a winner was determined. Week 1 was a format new to Fortnite esports and Epic provided custom matchmaking to accommodate the new rules. Much like the Fortnite Pro-Am at E3, participants in the Summer Skirmish were playing against each other in the same lobby. Ten matches were scheduled and the first duo to win two matches would be crowned champion. Read More: Ninja Reacts to His First Ever Slow Motion Fortnite Victory Royale Unfortunately, the money involved saw most players build and hide in hopes of a high placing. This led to viewers being less interested compared to the Friday Fortnite format, which has players advance based on the amount of kills they earn. Since there will be a new format for each installment of the Summer Skirmish, they most likely would have let the tournament go on as planned while admitting the first to two wins is not ideal. But lag was too much and the participants were constantly complaining about not being able to play correctly. We compiled some of the best lag reactions here. Epic decided to cancel the tournament early, with no word on how a winner will be determined – or if it will be rescheduled. As of now, the Summer Skirmish will return next week with a new ruleset, and Epic is looking into improved servers. The results of the four matches played are listed below, but no word yet on how the prize money will be distributed – if at all. • Epic confirms Fortnite x Marvel crossover will continue beyond Season 4 – Dexerto

Epic confirms Fortnite x Marvel crossover will continue beyond Season 4 Epic GamesFortnite and Marvel have crossed paths time and time again, and it looks like their integration won’t be slowing down any time soon after Epic Games’ Creative Director Donald Mustard confirmed they have content planned for “many years.” [jwplayer so0eN9Pk] Fortnite is the gift that keeps on giving, even after all these years. New seasons and chapters keep it fresh by adding content and ditching other bits and pieces to mix things up. Typically, each one introduces a new storyline complete with events, map changes, and themes. Naturally, that means players also get their hands on new skins, vehicles, weapons, and more. Fortnite has had a series of incredible crossovers along the way too, including integrations with Batman, John Wick, Star Wars, and Stranger Things, to name a few. However, none have come close to the sheer level of epicness as Fortnite x Marvel. Marvel crashed its way into Fortnite back when Avengers: Infinity War released in cinemas. It happened again with Avengers: Endgame. Fortnite even found it’s way into the movie. And of course, it’s happening again right now. Read more: When is Fortnite’s Galactus event? – It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, and one that fans of both franchises would love to see more of. Thankfully, their prayers have now been answered. Fortnite X Marvel will happen for “many years” Epic Games’ Creative Director Donald Mustard opened up about the crossovers between Fortnite and Marvel in the latest episode of the ‘This Week In Marvel’ podcast. He confirmed that the two worlds would collide for many years to come. “This is just the start,” he said. “This is the start of lots of stuff we have planned for many years in this Marvel integration. Like, this is not the end. This is the beginning.” You can listen to the full episode here. This quote and the discussion around it start at the 38:20 mark. Donald Mustard may have said too much Many thought the current crossover could be the last. But thankfully, Donald Mustard himself confirmed that isn’t the case, although he says he might have “dropped too many hints” in his time on the podcast. This was a lot of fun! Might have dropped too many hints at future stuff coming to Fortnite… https://t.co/II7jZ7wait — Donald Mustard (@DonaldMustard) October 23, 2020 If you listen to the whole episode, you’ll realize how passionate he is about Marvel. He’s been a long time fan for many years, and being able to integrate his favorite characters into Fortnite has been a dream come true. What’s more, he’s proud of the fact that Fortnite has become a part of the Marvel universe as well. For example, the Fortnite x Marvel Nexus War is canon. It’s even been published as an official comic. Either way, it doesn’t matter whether you recognize it as official or not. Fortnite x Marvel has been a smash hit, and it’s here to stay.

  • Epic confirm mini-battle royale mode coming to Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic confirm mini-battle royale mode coming to Fortnite Epic Games are aiming to develop a miniature version of Fortnite Battle Royale for players to enjoy with their friends in creative mode, using a smaller starting circle. Fortnite is currently unrivalled in terms of popularity thanks to the constant updates pushed out by Epic Games to keep the gaming experience fresh for its large user base. However, Epic have been eager to cater to more casual players in their latest update, which has sparked controversy in the Fortnite community, by removing the siphon mechanic that was widely loved. There has been no communication that the change will be reverted anytime soon, but Epic have confirmed that they are developing a system in creative mode that would allow players to simulate a mini battle royale game among their friends. What is Fortnite creative mode? Creative mode was introduced to Fortnite in Season 7, allowing players to create their own islands that can be shared with friends. Players were able to produce amazing creative worlds such as one user who perfectly recreated Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’s Shipment map and players who used Fortnite’s music blocks to construct courses that would play music from artists like Drake. More recently, creative users have managed to create a version of the storm that would eliminate players on impact. Now, a developer at Epic Games has revealed that they are working to add moving storm circles as an option for players to enable which has previously been difficult to implement. Epic also confirmed that the long-term goal would be to allow players to run a “mini-BR” game where the bus route, storm and other factors could be pre-determined – allowing for lots of fun among friends. Players would be able to hone their Fortnite skills from the comfort of creative before testing their skills in the default playlists or newly added arena mode. Having moving storm circles in creative would also be well received in the Fortnite competitive community as players would be able to consistently practice hectic end-game scenarios commonly seen at LAN events.

  • Epic confirms Fortnite World Cup 2021 has been canceled – Dexerto

Epic confirms Fortnite World Cup 2021 has been canceled Epic GamesEpic Games has confirmed that they have “no plans” for any live events next year, including Fortnite World Cup 2021, all but canceling the event. It’s something many fans expected but still feared, even though most understand it’s necessary. Fortnite’s competitive scene is one of many that have been rocked in 2020. It was something nobody anticipated or expected, at least, in terms of how severe an impact it would have on the world. Unfortunately, we’re not out of the woods yet, and that means there’s still a spanner in the works. Epic Games has decided it’s still too risky to host live events anytime soon. They’ve opted to cancel all live events in 2021, including the Fortnite World Cup. They laid it all out in their latest blog post. “Our intent is to eventually hold global in-person tournaments again, but our priority for any such event is the health and safety of our players and staff,” they said. It’s a sentiment that other organizations have shared. “With so much still unknown about what is practical and safe, we do not plan to hold in-person events in 2021, including a Fortnite World Cup,” they added. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any competitions at all. “We will continue to provide online competitions throughout 2021 with the hopes that physical events, in some form, can return at some point in the future,” they said. It’s crazy to think that we might still be a year away from seeing LAN esports events again. However, it’s a sensible decision given the circumstances. It’s bittersweet news for fans and players around the world. They’d love to see competitive LAN events in the Fortnite scene once again. But at the same time, it’s good to know that Epic Games has everyone’s best interests at heart. They aren’t willing to risk anything, which is nice.

  • Epic changes “pay-to-win” Fortnite pickaxe after game-breaking sound bug – Dexerto

Epic changes “pay-to-win” Fortnite pickaxe after game-breaking sound bug Epic GamesAfter a myriad of complaints, Epic Games has taken the Riot Control Baton off the shelves and disabled it in Fortnite. The pickaxe reportedly made players’ footsteps silent while equipped. The Riot Control Baton was added into Fortnite in December 2019, but has made an appearance in recent Daily Shops due to the re-run of the Star Wars event. With its increased use, players have discovered a game-breaking exploit that has forced Epic to remove the item from Fortnite temporarily. The bug was discovered by Fortnite player ‘SlowEU’, who spotted numerous pros using the harvesting tool in the Solos Cash Cup. Following Liquid’s Dmitri ‘Mitr0’ Van de Vrie, Slow noticed while he had the pickaxe out, he made no noise. This allowed Mitr0 to creep up on unsuspecting enemies and kill them. The clip went viral on Twitter, and shortly afterwards everyone else started equipping the Riot Control Baton. Mitr0 himself claimed the pickaxe was “pay-to-win,” putting it down to a little bit of luck that he bought it instead of other items. It certainly helped his Cash Cup campaign, though whether he intended to use the exploit remains unclear. https://twitter.com/SlowEU_/status/1259949661550514182 Epic took the drastic action of disabling the Riot Control Baton to fix its sound issues. On May 11, the pickaxe was taken off the shelves, and replaced with a default harvesting tool in all lobbies. “While we work on resolving an issue, the Riot Control Baton will appear as a default Pickaxe in all playlists,” they said on Twitter. Previously, when Epic has had to overhaul items, they offer refunds to players. However, given this is just a purely audio issue, and not a cosmetic issue, that might not be the case with this pickaxe. While we work on resolving an issue, the Riot Control Baton will appear as a default Pickaxe in all playlists. We’ll update you here when the issue is resolved! — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) May 12, 2020 The Riot Control Baton is the second Fortnite item Epic have had to temporarily vault in a week. The Dragacorn glider was taken down on May 7 after players were abusing its animation to dodge incoming fire while flying. Players were offered a refund after it was fixed. It’s also unclear as to whether the glitch may warrant Epic wiping the results of the recent Solos Cash Cup. The competitive account is yet to comment on the issue, but we will update you if anything changes on that front.

  • Epic confirm a much-needed change is coming to vehicles in Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic confirm a much-needed change is coming to vehicles in Fortnite Fortnite’s designated drivers may finally be able to see what amount of health their vehicle has left without switching seats. Fortnite Season 7 has brought another vehicle, the X-4 Stormwing attack plane, to the battle. As usual, the new vehicle is not indestructible but players in the driver’s seat wanting to check its health are still unable to do so. Currently, only players in passenger positions can check the status of the vehicle’s health, meaning that drivers playing by themselves have to quickly switch seats to check. Vehicles such as the QuadCrasher have a slight time animation whilst switching seats. However, a long-awaited fix is coming. Fortnite fan bedarija posted a thread on the game’s subreddit, calling for Epic to add a Vehicle health bar for drivers and showing off their rough mock-up of what it could look like. The post was quickly spotted by Epic Games as Design Lead – EpicEricSW- Eric Williamson, commented: “Great point, agreed! I believe it missed the cutoff for 7.01 this week, but should be in the release after that.” Read More: Fortnite: Ninja takes X-4 Stormwing highlights to new heights with incredible double hijack – With Williamson also announcing that the 7.01 update is set to drop in the next week, fans who have already been searching for clues as to what might come next, won’t have to wait long to see what’s in store. Season 7 is less than a week old and there have already been leaks to parts of the recently arrived snow and ice fading away, revealing some possible early map changes. Players have already discovered that the Iceberg around Polar Peak has a secret lying beneath it as an explorable hidden village was found. Elsewhere, Loot Llamas have also been spotted spawning in surprising areas under the winter surface.

  • Epic change Fortnite’s explosive weapon drop rate – Dexerto

Epic change Fortnite’s explosive weapon drop rate Tired of coming up against a rocket launcher in every game of Fortnite Battle Royale? Epic Games feels your pain and has made a big change to explosive weapons. Fortnite’s arsenal of explosives, from rocket launchers to grenades, have always been very powerful, and often it’s necessary to carry at least one type of explosive if you hope to pull off the victory royale. Due to the power of explosives, particularly their ability to wipe out player builds, they can quite easily spoil an otherwise exciting ‘build-off’ battle for survival. Developers Epic Games have continued to tweak the explosive meta, adding and removing weapons and tuning their blast radius, accuracy and more. But, with continued complaints about the high frequency of explosive weapons from the player base, Epic has taken a more immediate step to curb their over-use. In a hotfix on January 30, the drop rate of all forms explosive weapons from chests was significantly reduced, from 4.13% to 3.08%. This reduction of only 1% may seem small, but in practice it’s a drop of just over a quarter, meaning you are much less likely to receive an explosive weapon, or come up against one in an opponent’s hand. Epic will monitor feedback on the change, and evaluate if perhaps the reduction was too drastic or not big enough. With Season 8 around the corner, there are number of big updates expected, with the most recent patch vaulting a number of weapons and unvaulting the Suppressed SMG, but this is the only change to explosives specifically.

  • Epic bans pay to win Fortnite Season 5 superhero skins due to new exploit – Dexerto

Epic bans pay to win Fortnite Season 5 superhero skins due to new exploit Epic GamesEpic Games has announced that the controversial Boundless Set of cosmetic items in Fortnite will be disabled after a new exploit allowed players to revert to their pre-nerf appearance. The Boundless skins have been surrounded by controversy since their introduction in Fortnite. Resembling superhero costumes, these outfits could be customized in ways that were deemed unfair by the community. Appearing as just one shade of blade or white, for instance, often made you an extremely difficult target to see. Players would blend in with environments and outright have an advantage over their competition. Despite working on a fix for these ‘pay to win’ cosmetics, the v13.50 update didn’t quite do the trick. In light of a new exploit, Epic has now completely banned the skins from all competitive modes. Due to an outstanding issue with the Boundless Set, we are temporarily disabling these Outfits from competitive play. Players who select one will instead appear as a Default Outfit in competitive playlists. The set will be re-enabled in v15.40 when the issue is resolved. pic.twitter.com/9h8tdNWfFj — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) February 3, 2021 “Due to an outstanding issue with the Boundless Set, we are temporarily disabling these Outfits from competitive play,” the Fortnite Status account tweeted on February 3. If players accidentally select these items, they will drop into their next match with the default appearance in effect. While a fix was initially implemented to disable to all-black or all-white variants, players soon found a way to get around it. A simple saving trick allowed anyone to bypass the change and drop back into their next match as a challenging target. This ban applies strictly to competitive playlists for the time being. Players will still be able to run wild with the exploit in casual modes. Epic assured that the Boundless Set will be fixed and re-enabled in the v15.40 update. This means we shouldn’t have to wait too long to comfortably use the skins again. • Epic Games CEO teases “more powerful” Fortnite Creative tools coming soon – Dexerto

Epic Games CEO teases “more powerful” Fortnite Creative tools coming soon Epic GamesEpic Games founder Tim Sweeney has teased “more powerful” Fortnite Creative tools coming in the next 12 months, as the ever-growing battle royale title continues to expand towards the goal of becoming a “platform.” It’s no secret Epic is looking to push the boundaries of gaming with Fortnite, and has already taken steps towards those goals with things like the game-deleting event “The End,” and a Star Wars crossover ahead of The Rise of Skywalker. According to the company’s founder and chief executive Sweeney, there’s plenty more to come on the horizon “in the next twelve months,” starting with the introduction of “more powerful” Fortnite Creative tools to kick-start a new era. Sweeney, and many higher-ups from Epic, have recently taken the line that they want to turn Fortnite into “a platform” rather than just a 100-player battle royale title, and the company’s CEO recently added they want to see the shooter turn into a place where “the majority of content people spend time with is created by others.” Now it looks like that change could begin in 2020, especially considering Sweeney has teased even more power for Fortnite content creators once ‘upgraded’ tools drop for the newly added development mode. Epic’s CEO was asked on Twitter what changes Fortnite might see in the next twelve months as the title looks to begin its ambitious transition into the bold new ‘creative platform,’ and what content that might bring for loyal players. “Nothing hifalutin,” Sweeney said, explaining the first changes may not be ‘over-the-top.’ “More powerful Fortnite Creative tools so that creators outside of Epic Games can do the kind of things with the game that only we can do right now.” Nothing hifalutin. Just more powerful Fortnite Creative tools so that creators outside of Epic can do the kinds of things with the game that only we can do right now. — Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) December 29, 2019 The question came after the Epic founder admitted the next 12 months might see Fortnite actually begin its transition away from gaming to a more broad spectrum for the community in a cryptic tweet reply. Between that, and Sweeney’s revelation during a BAFTA interview in September, it looks like Epic is beginning to take their platform master plan public, especially after Sweeney admitted the company was working on “10 different projects” which all boasted parallel views on “coming together in the future.” “We’re going to see a future world of games, where users are the primary creators of content,” he added, and admitted the improved and accelerated social features arriving in the Fortnite Creative mode were also to meet that end. As for what these “more powerful” tools for Fortnite Creative could be, Sweeney remained tightlipped, but if Epic’s recent moves are any indication, they could well be more expanded access for content creators, and a new garage of intricate tools. It’s also basically confirmed the social platform within the creative mode will also continue to expand, moving more towards a “social meeting place” like many gamers are treating Fortnite these days, rather than just a fighting arena. For now, Fortnite fans might have to make do with the plethora of new content rolling in with the New Year’s celebrations arriving in the battle royale in the next few days, including new skins, and a disco-ball themed event.

  • Epic are Currently ‘Working On’ Allowing Stretched Resolutions in Competitive Fortnite – Dexerto

Epic are Currently ‘Working On’ Allowing Stretched Resolutions in Competitive Fortnite Epic Games has confirmed that they are working on allowing stretched resolutions in competitive Fortnite play. While streaming on Twitch, Symfuhny remarked on how we would like viewers of competitive Fortnite streams to be able to watch the game in the normal 1920×1080 resolution, even if the players were using a stretched resolution themselves. In the chat for his stream, the official Fortnite Twitch account responded to his request, simply stating; “We’re working on that.” From Epic’s point of view, allowing stretched resolutions at LAN events can lead to some production problems. Switching back and forth between players using different screen settings can be jarring for viewers, especially in a game like Fortnite where the action can be fast paced. While it’s unclear how Epic intend to fix the issue, one suggestion that has been mentioned could be to stop resolutions changing the field of view for players. If a slider was then implemented, players could then set their FOV themselves, and it may encourage people to stop using stretched resolutions. Another solution could be a dedicated spectating mode, like Counter-Strike’s GOTV, that follows the players POV but uses the settings specified by the observer. There is currently no official release date for this update, however it is expected that Epic will try and push the patch out before the Fortnite Fall Skirmish begins.

  • Epic Applies Minor Nerf to Fortnite’s Remote Explosives – Dexerto

Epic Applies Minor Nerf to Fortnite’s Remote Explosives Epic Games has applied a nerf to the explosion radius of the Remote Explosives in Fortnite Battle Royale. The Remote Explosives were temporarily disabled on July 24 after Epic discovered an issue where they would not deal damage to a structure after damaging a player. That issue has now been rectified, and Remote Explosives are back in the game. Commenting on the initial problem, Fortnite’s Lead Item Designer, Rook, revealed that the issue was due to botched nerf that had been applied to the Remote Explosives as part of the recent V5.1 patch. He stated “we inadvertently unified the player damage radius (400 units) and the structure damage radius (600 units) to use the smaller of the two” but confirmed that the team was “testing a new value for this unified destruction radius that meets more in the middle”. Rook went on to state that the logic behind the intended change was that “one charge should be able to destroy the wall it’s attached to and the wall on the opposite side of the building grid. That means the explosion radius needs to increase”. He said that he would get back to the community once a final decision was made and, true to his word, followed up with another statement once the Remote Explosives went live again. Rook says that the damage radius for the item will now be a unified 520 units, as opposed to the 600 units for structures and 400 units for players from previous iterations. He also revealed that Epic plans to adjust the availability of the devices in the future and reduce the maximum stack size, saying “we’ve been hearing the community feedback that availability of this item is too high”. Rook concludes by asking players to give Epic feedback once they have had the chance to test out the effectiveness of the Remote Explosives after the slight nerf.

  • Epic are changing Dragacorn Fortnite glider after “pay to win” claims – Dexerto

Epic are changing Dragacorn Fortnite glider after “pay to win” claims Epic GamesEpic Games have temporarily disabled the Dragacorn glider in competitive Fortnite playlists, and will be changing its animation after controversy broke out over the item’s potentially “pay to win” nature. Cosmetic items in Fortnite are meant to be just that – cosmetic. But a few here and there get released with properties that can actually affect gameplay in one way or another. The most recent example of this is the Dragacorn glider, which was released on April 3 as part of the Deadpool set. Despite its bulky and obnoxious appearance, it became an instant hit with the competitive community; one look at a recent FNCS match is all you need to see a bunch of pro players riding around on these gliders. Is that a bear… dressed up as Deadpool… riding a Dragacorn? That’s awesome! Where can you get one of those you ask? (Hint, it’s the Item Shop.) pic.twitter.com/6gzayh3mBk — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) April 10, 2020 Why? Well, turns out that its animation makes players harder to spot in the sky, and thus more difficult to shoot at and take down. The influence of the Dragacorn became so prevalent that it got labeled as a “pay to win” item, which obviously goes against Epic’s policy when it comes to cosmetics. As a result, the developers announced on May 7 they’ve disabled the glider from all competitive playlists in order to implement an “animations fix,” assuring players who had purchased it that they could get a refund once the changes had been applied, without needing to use a token. There’s no timetable yet for when the Dragacorn will be enabled again, so until its return, anyone who equips it in the competitive modes will see it appear as a default item in-game. After the Glider’s animation changes, owners of the Glider will have the option to refund it without the use of a refund token. — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) May 7, 2020 This announcement came about a week after popular Twitch streamer SypherPK published a video explaining why so many pro players were using the Dragacorn. “The ability to see the character and know where to aim, it has a very unique effect that’s kind of clunky and makes it harder for opponents to beam you out of the sky,” he explained.” “That’s really important in competitive. When you’re gliding, you don’t want your opponents to leech you as you’re using a Launch Pad towards the safe zone or in moving circles. It’s not just a few pro players using this glider. Literally 80% of the lobby is using this thing. Everyone is using this glider.” This isn’t the first time that a cosmetic in Fortnite has gotten the dreaded “pay to win” label. Prime examples of this are the Plastic Patroller outfit skin that camouflaged perfectly with many areas on the map, and the Deep Dab emote, which players were exploiting to shoot through windows without giving enemies a chance to shoot back. As SypherPK explained in his video, most competitive players will lean towards using items that give them the edge, such as female skins for the smaller in-game body, and sleek pickaxes that are quiet and stealthy. But there’s definitely a difference between those and a glider that literally makes people harder to shoot at, which explains why Epic didn’t waste much time addressing the issue.

  • Epic Announces Major Weapon and Building Buffs and Nerfs in Fortnite Battle Royale – Compact SMG and Drum Gun – Dexerto

Epic Announces Major Weapon and Building Buffs and Nerfs in Fortnite Battle Royale – Compact SMG and Drum Gun Fortnite Battle Royale developer Epic Games has announced a major building and weapons update, adjusting various stats and damage to both of the fundamental components in the game. Players have been expecting some changes soon, with Epic making clear their desire to update the game and keep it balanced and competitive, while also fresh. Read the full changes from Epic Games below. We’ve seen various discussions about SMGs, building material changes, and general weapon vs structure interaction. We agree that weapons should have a unique purpose and that building should feel great as well as show off your tactical skills in the heat of battle. Your feedback in combination with internal testing has shown that previous changes in these areas were not achieving the goals we had set out for. The new changes are aimed at allowing for strengths and weaknesses between the SMGs, shotguns and structures during close range combat. Here are the changes that are now live: BUILDING CHANGES By increasing initial wall health values based on material type, material strength should feel more intuitive when making decisions Wood wall initial HP increased from 80 to 90 – Stone wall initial HP increased from 80 to 100 – Metal wall initial HP increased from 80 to 110 – SMG CHANGES Dropping SMG effectiveness – they should feel good against structures, but not consistently be the best option in multiple scenarios. Compact SMG Reduced damage from 22/21 to 21/20 – Reduced clip size from 50 to 40 – Drum Gun Reduced falloff range damage from 80% to 70% at 3500 units – Reduced falloff range damage from 65% to 55% at 5000+ units – Added environmental damage fall off matching player damage fall off – Decreased jumping accuracy by 5% – Decreased targeting accuracy by 10% – Reduced spawn rate from chests and floor loot by 40% – We’ll be keeping a close eye on these changes and will continue to adjust over time. Let us know what you think of the changes!

  • Epic announce massive changes to Fortnite’s aim assist – Dexerto

Epic announce massive changes to Fortnite’s aim assist Epic GamesEpic has announced that Legacy aim assist will be removed from Fortnite, which could signal an unexpected end for all the L2 spammers out there. Aim assist has always been one of the hottest topics of debate among Fortnite players, and with the arrival of Season 2, players soon discovered you could use Legacy aim assist settings to find and lock on to players even when they were behind cover. Contentious as the aim assist debate has been, there are always two sides to every argument: controller players claimed that aim assist was needed for them to keep up with mouse and keyboard players, while the latter party was obviously upset with seemingly blatant wallhacks. Explain this controller players😃👍 #aimassist pic.twitter.com/iZjpzgMAkQ — OrangeGuy (@OrangeGuy_YT) March 4, 2020 Fans were fairly convinced that Epic would keep their hands off of aim assist for fear of upsetting the controller community, which could be just as large as the game’s mouse and keyboard demographic. However, on March 6, Epic announced they would be removing Legacy aim assist from Fortnite starting March 13, leaving players currently using the setting with no choice but to switch to Linear or Exponential. With the improvements we’ve made to Aim Assist, we plan to remove the “Use Legacy Look Controls” setting on March 13. To use the new settings and maintain your legacy sensitivities, select “Copy from Legacy” in the Controller Options and toggle off “Use Legacy Look Controls.”” pic.twitter.com/Latu1j0KNc — Fortnite Status (@FortniteStatus) March 6, 2020 Most professional controller-using Fortnite players use Linear aim assist, but a few still prefer the L2-spam strategy popular with Legacy, like NRG pro ‘Unknown.’ In fact, Unknown himself played a large part in the L2 debate, as he was one of the first pros to show off how to track players while they’re supposed to be invisible. Wtf @UnknownxArmy1x literally tracking people through bushes LMAO pic.twitter.com/htIVyQGFdo — TFG (@TFGmykL) February 26, 2020 The issues with Legacy aim assist aren’t new by any means, though; players have been using the L2 spam for close to a year at this point, and non-controller players have been complaining about it for almost as long. It’s not clear why Epic decided to make the changes now, but they won’t be leaving Legacy players entirely out in the cold once the update takes effect. Those currently using Legacy aim assist will be able to copy their settings and sensitivity over, but it certainly won’t feel the same for users who have made it an integral part of their playstyle. Whether this is a sign of things to come remains to be seen: Aim assist certainly does rub some players the wrong way, but the argument persists that it’s needed in some capacity to keep controller players competitive at the highest levels.

  • Epic announces #FreeFortnite cup as final iOS event amid Apple lawsuit – Dexerto

Epic announces #FreeFortnite cup as final iOS event amid Apple lawsuit Epic GamesFortnite will soon be left behind on iOS devices due to the ongoing Apple lawsuit but Epic Games has revealed one last competition as the #FreeFortnite Cup kicks off ahead of Season 4. The internet was set ablaze on August 13 as the Fortnite developers filed lawsuits against both Apple and Google. The mobile version was pulled from both app stores that day as Epic introduced a direct payment method for V-Bucks. Going against the policies of both corporate giants. Apple soon followed up, revealing that all developer access would be restricted by August 28. Meaning that Epic will no longer be able to update the game moving forward. This will come into effect right as Season 4 is set to launch. If you’re looking to get in on the new content drop, you’ll have to find a new platform to play on. However, before we cross that bridge, Epic has lifted the lid on one final tournament for iOS users. The not so subtly titled #FreeFortnite Cup kicks off before the app gets left behind for good. Here’s everything you need to know about the final Apple crossplay event. When is the #FreeFortnite Cup? The upcoming tournament will mark the final competitive event in which players from all platforms can compete. “Players on iOS devices will be left behind on Chapter 2 – Season 3 while everyone else jumps into the Chapter 2 – Season 4,” Epic explained on August 20. Before we reach that point, one final event will be coming your way to close things out with a bang. The #FreeFortnite Cup will be taking place on Sunday, August 23. For the final time, all platforms will be eligible to compete. From console gamers to PC players and mobile users alike, everyone can take part. How to compete in the #FreeFortnite Cup In order to access the last tournament, all you’ll need to do is find the ‘Compete’ tab in the main menu. This will appear once the event is live in your region August 23. The event follows a familiar structure as you’ll be rewarded for the basics in Fortnite. Across the span of four hours, you’ll be able to play a maximum of 12 matches in the event. Each round will tally up your overall points simply by staying alive. One point is secured for every three minutes you spend on the map. Meanwhile, an elimination is worth one point and a victory royale is worth 10 points. This competition is for solo players only, so you won’t be able to rely on teammates to revive you. Once you go down, that’s it for the given round and you’ll need to hop back into the queue. Rewards in the #FreeFortnite Cup In true Epic fashion, the event wouldn’t be complete without a unique set of rewards up for grabs. For amassing just 10 points, a target you’ll likely hit in a game or two, players will unlock a brand-new skin. This cosmetic item is labeled as the ‘Tart Tycoon Outfit’ and subtly pokes fun at Apple. The fruit-headed character appears in a suit with black gloves on, implying the notion of theft on the app store. Additionally, the top 20,000 players around the world will be sent a one-of-a-kind #FreeFortnite hat. Not an in-game item, an actual hat that the developers will send to your home, free of charge. Last but not least, an assortment of gaming hardware is also on the line as players transition off of Apple devices. From a PlayStation 4 to an Alienware gaming laptop and more, 1,200 players will be sent these valuable prizes.

  • Epic announce Fortnite Season 2 Duos FNCS and it’s platform-specific – Dexerto

Epic announce Fortnite Season 2 Duos FNCS and it’s platform-specific Epic GamesEpic Games have announced that the Fortnite Champion Series is making its return very soon with a Duos tournament and your partner is going to need to be playing on the same platform as you in order to compete. The game developers revealed the return of FNCS on March 10, just 10 days away from its official start date on March 20, meaning players don’t really have a lot of time in order to prepare. Prior to that, though, partners can get up to speed and compete in a series of training simulators to test their skills, running between March 13-15. For those wondering about the breakdown of the new series competition, Epic have also revealed an official statement on the Fortnite website to keep members of the competitive community in the loop. In it, they said: “In this season of FNCS, there will be two tournament tracks: one for players on PC, and one for players on console and mobile. “Each track will have equal prizing and their own champions. Keep in mind, and this is mission critical, your Duos partner needs to be in the same platform group. This means that PC players cannot partner with console and mobile players. Calling all Agents! It’s time to find your Duos partner for the #FortniteChampionSeries: https://t.co/lJDGk6cPda pic.twitter.com/9Yc6Aaw9o2 — Fortnite Competitive (@FNCompetitive) March 9, 2020 In order to get to the Season Finals, Duos who have top scores in each region per server will progress. Another route to making it that far will be opened up to the top scoring players of the overall Series Leaderboard, which will be tallied up during the entire season. Below you can see the potential prize pool up for grabs for those who make it to the Season Finals, with amounts varying based on the region in which the competitor is based. As is usually the case, the Europe and North America series will be the most lucrative. It will be interesting to see how players compete during the tournament, whether or not the vaults will take priority or not due to the masses of loot found there, and what locations will be the most popular for the tournament too. Epic have also confirmed that there will soon be an announcement involving a competitive roadmap for Fortnite in 2020, so once we know more about that, we’ll be the first to let you know.

  • Epic and Legendary Pump Shotgun coming soon to Fortnite Battle Royale – Dexerto

Epic and Legendary Pump Shotgun coming soon to Fortnite Battle Royale Fortnite’s in-game news feed has been updated to announce the arrival of the brand new Epic and Legendary Pump Shotguns to the battle royale title. The news feed updated on Monday, November 26, announcing that the weapons would be coming soon, likely in the next update for the game. Epic Games have added new items and weapons to the game weekly during Season 6, and it seems like this trend will continue with the announcement of the new versions of the Pump Shotgun. The weapons will be upgraded versions of the current Pump Shotgun, and look strikingly similar to the Heavy Shotgun that was added to the game back in March. There are currently no weapons statistics available for the new rarities of the Pump Shotgun, as dataminers were not able to leak the arrival of the weapons before they were announced in game. Read More: Fans call for streamer to be banned for stream sniping Ninja during Fortnite Winter Royale qualifier – The description of the item simply reads: “Epic and Legendary variants of the Pump Shotgun,” giving fans very little information about the new weapons. The weapon is likely to release in the V6.31 Update for the game on either November 27 or 28, alongside a shotgun rebalance announced by Epic Games Design Lead Eric Williamson that will hopefully make the weapons more effective. Epic Games will be hoping that the release of the two new versions of the Pump Shotgun will go better than their last two releases, Dynamite and the Mounted Turret. Epic Games have already been forced to release two updates for the Mounted Turret in an attempt to balance the weapon, after facing anger from professional players like Tfue who feel the item should be removed immediately. Dynamite has also faced scorn from the Fortnite community, with fans stating that it is too powerful, and should also be sent to the Vault.

It has been reported by Entertainment Weekly that the ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ will spawn on the map, and the player that finds it will turn into ‘Thanos,’ one of the main characters from ‘Infinity War.’ The partnership originated after Joe and Anthony Russo, Co-Directors of Infinity War, wondered how they could create some sort of mashup between the film and Fortnite: Battle Royale, leading them to link up with Donald Mustard, the worldwide creative director of Epic Games. “Over the past few months, while we were editing , we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” Joe exclusively told EW. “And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of – mashup? So we stalked Donald.” ‘Fortnite x Avengers Infinity War’ will go live on Tuesday, May 8th, however, it is unknown at the time of writing how long the ‘limited time mode’ will last, or if there are any plans for future collaboration.

  • End of Season 5 in Fortnite Set to Be Delayed According to Leaks – Dexerto

End of Season 5 in Fortnite Set to Be Delayed According to Leaks The current ‘season’ of Fortnite Battle Royale is set to end later than planned, according to dates found in the game files and leaked online. Fortnite is currently in its fifth season, with each having a unique theme and new sets of items, weapons and map POI’s, keeping the game fresh for the massive player base. Each season so far has lasted 10 weeks, with the fifth season currently about to head in to week 7. It was expected that season 6 therefore would begin on Tuesday, September 25, with a new theme, possibly Halloween related, giving the game a makeover moving into the winter months. But, according to a post by known leakers ‘FNBRLeaks’, the sixth season appears to have been pushed back by developer Epic Games. The post shows the start of Season 5 (July 11, 2018), the ‘Season Displayed End’ date of September 25, 2018, but surprisingly also shows a ‘Season End’ date of October 2. The Fortnite Booth at GamesCom Included a Glider Zip Line to Drop In However, given the amount of radical changes and overhauls that came with the end of season 4 moving into 5, it wouldn’t be surprising if Epic pushed back the end of season 5 to give them more time to work on the upcoming season. There is almost nothing known about what to expect in season 6, but odd map changes have been spotted, related mostly to the ‘rifts’ dotted around the battle royale island, which could lead to clues.

The day of victory is at hand. The day of revenge. The day of the Sith.” (Quote begins at 11:54 mark) While many would just chalk that up to building some extra hype for the release of the film, as it turns out, there might be a bit more to that line that meets the eye. * WARNING * – Possible Rise of Skywalker spoilers ahead We’re now entering leaks and spoilers territory for Star Wars Episode IX so be warned. According to the leaked opening crawl, which is not confirmed, it addresses The Emperor’s resurrection and could also explain his speech given in Fortnite. The highly successful Season OG is now coming to an end and to celebrate in Slim Shady’s style, Epic Games has now released all the Eminem cosmetics in the Item Shop. As players made their selection between the Slim Shady, the Marshall Never More, and the Rap Boy skins, they seemed to be more inclined towards the Slim Shady outfit to experience a hidden feature. Furthermore, a faithful Fortnite recreation of the iconic rap battle between B-Rabbit and Papa Doc was the product of the ingenuity of one such player, who also happened to be a fan of Eminem’s film 8 Mile. The player recreated the iconic scene with a crowd of Fortnite characters, as he used Eminem’s Slim Shady skin and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America skin, who were the actors featured in the original film scene. Following the viral clip’s popularity on social media, Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s manager, responded and expressed his views on the same. Paul Rosenberg shares Eminem’s 8-Mile rap battle made in Fortnite Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s long-time manager and co-founder of Shady Records reposted the viral clip on X that was originally created by a TikTok user named pleakz and said, “I mean… wow!” The clip featured a player wearing Eminem’s Slim Shady skin while his opponent wore Mackie’s Captain America skin as he went on doing the beatbox emote to show as if they were rapping. While Mackie’s Cap erupted in rage, they dubbed the rap from the final rap battle in 8 Mile and displayed other Fortnite characters dancing to it in the background. The Slim Shady immediately after the combat concluded used a shotgun to eliminate the Cap skin. Upon seeing the repost, several of Eminem’s fans and Fortnite players rushed to comment, with one such user who said, “This is brilliant”. Another chimed in, “How cool is that!” While there were praises for the clip itself, fans couldn’t resist asking Rosenberg some burning questions with a third fan commenting, “Can you at least tell us if we can expect a new album next year?” A fourth user replied, “Paul release the album or tell us he’s retired. We’re fed up in limbo.” Eminem’s collab cosmetic items are now available in the Fortnite Item Shop, so here’s all the info you need to know before you buy.

  • Easy tips to help you take less damage on Fortnite – Dexerto

Easy tips to help you take less damage on Fortnite Fortnite fans are always looking for new ways to get the edge over their opponents in the popular battle royale game, in the hope that it will help them earn a victory royale. Thanks to Forntite’s easy to learn but difficult to master building system, players have a way to protect themselves when under fire, and can also build structures to be used offensively, giving you the higher ground and upper hand over your opponent. However, players can sometimes find it difficult to defend themselves while in the middle of a gunfight, as building new structures will mean you put your weapon away, possibly leaving you open to attack if they can hit you before you build. Posted to Reddit by former Overwatch pro player and current Gen.G Esports Fortnite Coach Convertible, he advises players to learn how to effectively strafe when taking on gunfights, as this will make it much more difficult for players to hit you. Convertible says the key to strafing, especially when strafing left and right, is to time your movements. When strafing using a shotgun, you want to fire your weapon, and then strafe while the weapon re-primes so that once the weapon is ready to be fired you can aim. It’s also important to know where you’re going. When strafing, the key is to move with purpose and not randomly. If you know where you’re moving, it means you can react quickly and take him down while he tries to figure out what you’re doing. Convertible also believes that effective movement is an important tool to taking less damage. “Effective movement is utilizing cover, not walking in a straight line,” stated the Fortnite coach. “If you’re in a hallway, and there’s an enemy at the end of the hallway, he will have a much easier time shooting at you if you walk in a straight line than if you bounced between the left and right walls,” concluded Convertible.

  • Easy Solution to fix edit lag in Fortnite on PC – Dexerto

Easy Solution to fix edit lag in Fortnite on PC Fortnite YouTuber Beaks has released a new video with an in-depth explanation of an effective solution to fix the issue of “edit lag” when building in the popular battle royale game. With building being such a fundamental component of Fortnite, the ability to edit quickly is crucial, but due to issues with networking and tick rate, players on both console and PC often experience a slight lag when editing. It doesn’t happen every time, but typically every four or five edits there will be a delay between pressing the edit button and the actual editing options appear. The technique which Beaks explains, basically involves tricking the Epic Games launcher into thinking the game is being played on a LAN server, rather than online. By using the ‘LANPLAY’ command, the Epic Games launched will “tell the engine not to cap client bandwidth when connecting to servers. Causes double the amount of server updates and can saturate client’s bandwidth.” Beaks goes on to show a few clips of him playing and editing with both the LANPLAY command on and off, to show the difference that it makes. As a disclaimer, Beaks points out that this is not a foolproof method, and you may occasionally still experience some edit lags, but they should be much less frequent. He also explains that he cannot prove that it works, and that it could simply be a placebo affect, but other users have reported that this method worked for them too. Beaks warns that if using the LANPLAY command starts to increase your Ping or latency, or you experience any other network related issues, you should probably disable the command.

  • Easy Fortnite trick lets you enter loot vaults without a keycard – Dexerto

Easy Fortnite trick lets you enter loot vaults without a keycard Epic GamesA strange Fortnite glitch has been shared by YouTuber Alistair ‘Ali-A’ Aiken that allows players to sneak into the loot vaults early without the need of a keycard. Epic Games introduced new vaults to Fortnite during the early stages of Chapter 2, Season 2, which are full of great weapons and items for players to find. While getting into these vaults can sometimes be a challenge, with multiple opponents also racing for them and PvE enemies standing in your way, a new glitch has been found that can save you a lot of effort. Fortnite YouTuber Ali-A revealed that getting into these vaults can be possible even without a keycard, which are found on the henchmen surrounding the vault, to loot up with legendary gear for the late game. He first tried the glitch in a private match and revealed that it works at both the Agency and The Rig’s loot vaults before testing it out on live servers. Despite blurring parts of his screen while doing the glitch, fans could still work out that a strange interaction with the boats in Fortnite could allow him to glitch through the walls outside of the vault. Topic starts at 1:10 After a few failed attempts, Ali-A finally managed to pull it off during a public match and waited for an unexpecting opponent to come and open the vault. The popular content creator caught his enemy completely off-guard and highlighted just how devastating this can be in-game, which later catapulted him to a second-place finish. It is worth noting that after the glitch has been done, there is no way for players to leave until the vault door is opened by someone else, making it a high-risk, high reward exploit to attempt. Epic Games have patched a similar exploit which allowed players to sneak into vaults in the past, so it is quite likely that this one will also be targeted by the Fortnite devs in a later update.

  • Easy Fortnite trick lets you reset edits faster with a controller – Dexerto

Easy Fortnite trick lets you reset edits faster with a controller Epic GamesThere will always be a debate between console and PC players as to which form of equipment is superior in Fortnite, however a new controller-based trick could even the odds thanks to some extraordinarily fast edits. Playing Fortnite with a mouse and keyboard typically comes with a number of advantages. With a wide assortment of programmable keys, no two functions ever have to be mapped to the same input, leading to an arguably more efficient experience than those utilizing a controller or even a touchscreen for instance. However, a brand new trick is turning the tides and giving controller players a much faster means of editing in the popular Battle Royale title. Being able to adjust that little bit faster than the opposition could be all that’s needed to secure a victory and controller players are going to have speed on their side thanks to this new method. Traditionally, a number of building and editing mechanics are mapped to similar inputs on any given controller. Regardless of which control scheme you stick to or where each function is laid out, a new trick that combines two functions will rapidly speed up the pace of your editing. The only setting that you’ll need to toggle in order for the trick to be employed properly, is the ‘confirm edit on release’ setting. This option ensures that all edits will remain in place automatically once you’ve backed out of the editing mode, rather than requiring a manual confirmation. To significantly decrease the time of resetting various edits, all that’s required is for you to press the ‘confirm’ and ‘edit’ buttons on your controller at the exact same time. This will instantly bring reset any edits and put the default building block back. In the midst of intense build-fights, players often adjust their builds with great frequency. Opening and closing windows on a single block to peak out and land shots on nearby foes, or even changing a ceiling block as to gain some elevation before quickly dipping back down and closing the roof. There are countless variations that can all be drastically improved by this simple editing method. While this trick might appear minuscule in the grand scheme of things, success in Fortnite often comes down to the smallest of margins. A millisecond saved while editing a build could be all that’s needed to secure a vital elimination and make your way to the top of the leaderboards. Being more closely aligned to the resetting speeds of those utilizing a mouse and keyboard should help to further even the playing field seeing as lobbies in Fortnite mix an assortment of players from all platforms. There’s no denying that mouse and keyboard players are able to precisely edit their builds with greater speed due to the popular scroll-wheel bind, though this controller trick is arguably the closest thing to matching such a rapid pace. A number of top Fortnite professionals around the world have proven that controllers can be just as viable in even the most elite competitions. With this new tactic, controller players will become an even greater threat moving forward.

  • Easy Fortnite tip will help you pick up weapons faster from Chests – Dexerto

Easy Fortnite tip will help you pick up weapons faster from Chests Starting off a match in Fortnite Battle Royale without a weapon often spells danger, which is why looting at the beginning of matches is one of the most important things to do. Part of that phase of looting is quickly finding and opening up Chests, each one of which is guaranteed to contain some sort of weapon. However, often times, multiple players will be going for the same Chest, which means that whoever manages to pick up the weapon first almost always ends up eliminating the other. A new and easy tip has surfaced on Reddit which gives players a very simple yet crucial piece of knowledge when it comes to looting Chests for weapons. According to the video, and the comments corroborating it underneath, weapons that pop out of Chests almost always go towards the left side, so the right side of the player opening it from the front. Knowing almost exactly where weapons fly out when opening Chests can turn out to be game changing knowledge in several instances. For one, when two players are going for the same loot, the one who is aware of this tendency has a huge advantage. Even if its not that type of situation, picking up weapons faster from Chests could help players who have enemies nearby or are being chased and don’t have a gun to protect themselves. Just by knowing where the weapon is going to land and pointing your cursor in that direction ahead of time could save crucial seconds, and those seconds add up to make a difference. Source – Reddit

  • Eagles fan mocks TimTheTatman on Fortnite after Cowboys loss – Dexerto

Eagles fan mocks TimTheTatman on Fortnite after Cowboys loss TimTheTatmanTimTheTatman returned to Fortnite but quickly regretted his decision after getting trolled by a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Dallas Cowboys fans are among the most passionate fan bases in sports. You can find someone wearing the signature star and stripes jersey in almost any NFL stadium every Sunday. But being loud and vocal also puts a target on your back, and Dallas Cowboys fans have learned that the hard way. In the ’90s, Dallas won three Super Bowls and earned the nickname “America’s Team.” Yet it’s been 28 years since the Cowboys’ golden age, and there has been a lot of pain and misery in between. Heartbreaking losses, missing the playoffs in seven out of 10 years, and coaching woes highlight just a few problems in a long line of misfortune. And fans from other NFL teams relish in Dallas’ fall from grace. Despite that, Cowboys fans always show up in masses to support their team, including TimTheTatman. The content creator is no stranger to finding himself on the wrong end of a joke, so it’s only fitting that he’s also a Cowboys fan. TimTheTatman trolled over painful loss to Eagles After dominating Twitch in 2021 during Fortnite’s peak, TimTheTatman returned to OG Fortnite and relived one of the most memorable periods in gaming. A Philadelphia Eagles fan rained on that parade. In a divisional rival matchup on November 5, the Eagles took down the Cowboys 28-23. And it’s even more painful for Dallas fans, knowing their team had a golden opportunity to win the game but squandered it away in the final moments. During a Fortnite round, a stream sniper found Tim and did the “Take The L” dance in his face. The streamer and avid Cowboys fan joked on Twitter: “I want this stream sniper banned:” Meanwhile, NICKMERCS replied: “Can I get the name of this stream sniper? Wanna invite him to play tonight.” Fortunately for Tim and the rest of the Cowboys nation, they have one more chance to get the last laugh when Dallas hosts Philadelphia on December 10. • Easy edit trick let’s you expertly shoot through your own builds in Fortnite – Dexerto

Easy edit trick let’s you expertly shoot through your own builds in Fortnite Positioning during gunfights is one of the most important tactics in Fortnite Battle Royale, and there is a new trick that allows players to shoot through their own builds. Players will often crouch behind their builds for cover during gunfights, and then peek over the ledge to shoot back. However, Reddit user ‘MetaphysicalBoi‘ has come with a method that allows players to shoot through the build and not have to compromise their cover in order to fire back at an opponent. The trick is relatively simple; the first step is to build a standard ramp, floor, wall combination in the direction that a player wants to cover themselves from. The next step is to edit the ramp to form an angled staircase, which can be done by editing the ramp at a 90-degree angle either going to the left or right of the player, as shown below. While this trick is probably most ideal for sniping, it can be used with pretty much any longer ranged weapon, especially since there is virtually no chance that anyone can shoot back effectively.

Dynamite is coming soon to Fortnite Battle Royale It looks like Fortnite data miners were correct when the leaked a ‘TNT Bundle’ item, because Epic Games have now confirmed that Dynamite is ‘coming soon’! The TNT Bundle was originally leaked after November 14’s v6.30 update which also introduced the controversial new Mounted Turret and the Food Fight Limited Time Mode. Updates have typically been released on a Tuesday but the schedule has been somewhat less rigid throughout Season 6. If it is released on Tuesday, though, players could be getting their hands on it as soon as tomorrow (November 20). Presumably the Dynamite will be on a timer so players can plant it and then retreat to a safe distance to see their opponents go up in smoke. However, Epic Games like to put their own twist on things so we’ll have to wait and see if that is the case! Stay tuned for more information about the Dynamite, and the patch that it will be released with, as it becomes available.

  • EA Says Fortnite Battle Royale is Good for the Video Game Industry and Isn’t Impacting Their Revenues – Dexerto

EA Says Fortnite Battle Royale is Good for the Video Game Industry and Isn’t Impacting Their Revenues Epic Games/EAOne of the biggest games publishers in the world Electronic Arts (EA) have discussed the impact of popular Battle Royale game Fortnite on the video game industry, and claim it is not hurting them. EA of course publish some of the best known game franchises in the world, such as FIFA and Battlefield, but, like their rivals Activision, some have suggested that Fortnite is stealing away their customers. However EA say that the opposite is in fact true, and that Fortnite’s immense popularity has if anything benefited the games industry as a whole by pushing it further into the mainstream. In their quarterly earnings report, EA showed off an increase in share value of more than 3%, and CFO Blake Jorgensen explains that Fortnite is likely expanding the market and therefore benefiting everyone. Of course the biggest benefactors are Epic Games themselves, the developers of Fortnite, who raked in $223 million from the game in March alone, according to SuperData. But EA, in a similar vein to Activision in their earnings call last week, have dismissed that it is taking customers away from their blockbuster titles. “We do think in the case of Fortnite, it’s helped grow the whole marketplace. It’s bringing younger people into the marketplace and younger people into first-person shooters. And I think that’s good for the long-run health of that category for all of us in the industry, not just one player.” And EA reckons the summer will be good for them, despite Fortnite having a firm grip on lots of console and PC players at the moment, because the World Cup is coming up. With their World Cup expansion for FIFA 18 on the way, ahead of the expected FIFA 19 release there will be increased interest there. Some analysts also suggest that similar to the rumors of the next Call of Duty featuring a battle royale mode, the next Battlefield game will too, although of course nothing is official on that front. According to Business Insider analysts, they predict “the newest Battlefield game will follow in the footsteps of Fortnite and release a kind of “battle royale” mode.”

  • Dynamite disabled in Fortnite after less than an hour – November 20 [UPDATED] – Dexerto

Dynamite disabled in Fortnite after less than an hour – November 20 [UPDATED] UPDATE (8:15pm EST – November 20, 2018) After being disabled shortly after the v6.30 update dropped, Dynamite has been re-enabled in Fortnite Battle Royale. In a short post on the Fortnite subreddit, Epic announced the news while also detailing adjustments made to the Mounted Turret. The latest addition to Fortnite Battle Royale, Dynamite, has been disabled less than an hour after it went live on November 20. The new item, which is found in sticks of three and deals 70 to damage to players and 800 to structures after a five-second fuse time, was added to the game as part of the v6.30 Content Update on Tuesday, November 20, but it wasn’t around for long. The developers took to Twitter a short while after the new explosive item was added to the game, saying that they had been forced to disable it for the time being due to game crashes. “We’ve temporarily disabled Dynamite while we investigate an increase in client crashes. We’ll update you once we have more information,” they explained. The good news from that statement is that the issue seems to be related to server/game performance rather than the item being inherently broken. We’ve temporarily disabled Dynamite while we investigate an increase in client crashes. We’ll update you once we have more information. — Fortnite (@FortniteGame) November 20, 2018 Players that were looking forward to trying out the new item will be disappointed to hear that it’s already been removed, but it seems unlikely that it will be gone for long. While the developers are not currently able to provide a time frame for fixing it, they make a habit of working quickly and rectifying issues in no time. We’ll update you with the status of the Dynamite as soon as we hear more… While you’re waiting to get your hands on the Dynamite, you can check out the item’s details from the patch notes below: New Weapon: Dynamite Uncommon rarity, found in stacks of 3. – Available from floor loot, chests, Vending Machines, Supply Llamas, and Supply Drops. – 70 damage to players and 800 damage to structures. – Explosion is in the shape of a flat cylinder 1600 units in diameter and 384 units in height. – – Initiating a throw will start a 5-second fuse that can’t be canceled. – Throw range is shorter than standard Grenades. –

Dua Lipa and Halsey in Fortnite? Rumors spark after successful Ariana Grande concert Epic Games / Halsey / Dua LipaAfter the Ariana Grande concert in Fortnite, fans think they’re finding clues of who might join the game’s live setlist next – with rumors revolving around Halsey and Dua Lipa. The ever-expanding Fortnite metaverse is filling up with characters from major brands and franchises like Disney, Capcom, and more lending their properties to the massive Fortnite fanbase. That’s since expanded to include popular artists like Travis Scott and Marshmello working with Epic on insane concerts in-game. With the conclusion of Ariana Grande’s big event in Fortnite, people are now looking forward to what else the studio could have planned. That’s where speculation from Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard’s Instagram started to arise. User ‘Necessary-Bluebird-9’ noticed that Mustard had started following Halsey and Dua Lipa on Instagram. While follows and interactions like that are commonplace in social media, Fortnite fans have become instinctually suspicious of Mustard’s online habits. The longtime Fortnite lead has a history of giving fans cryptic clues to upcoming events in the battle royale. That can range from anything like strangely worded messages to mysterious images, and everything in between. Now people have noticed that he’s following two of music’s biggest artists so soon after Ariana’s Fortnite stage debut. Of course, this sparked speculation within the community that the two will have some collaboration within Fortnite down the line. Whew. Hope you loved Rift Tour. To us, that still represents just the START of what the future of entertainment will look like. #blueocean — Donald Mustard (@DonaldMustard) August 6, 2021 Epic have defined what the ‘star treatment’ can look like for artists willing to lend their talents for the game. The studio has had massive success for turning real life celebrities into Fortnite skins preceding massive concert events in-game. While it’s way too soon for Epic to put something together for Dua Lipa or Halsey, it’s never too soon to tease upcoming collabs. As it stands, there’s nothing tying the two artists to a future Fortnite appearance but fans are already hoping something will come about soon.
