Why the Hype House no longer deserves its reputation Instagram: thehypehouselaSince its inception at the end of 2019, The Hype House has become known as the blueprint for the TikTok creator mansion. Just over a year later, it no longer has the ‘hype’ that it used to. In 2019, The Hype House was formed by members including Daisy Keech and Thomas Petrou and joined by some of TikTok’s biggest stars including Addison Rae, Avani Gregg, Chase Hudson, and even Charli and Dixie D’Amelio. They took after content houses formed by YouTubers and Vine Stars before them, including the Clout House and Jake Paul’s Team 10 – they even moved into the former Clout House location. Despite this, the Hype House was lauded as one of the first of its kind, with creators collaborating as a way to build up their following. They started their journey as one of the most innovative groups on social media, picking up some of the fastest-growing creators and helping them reach superstardom far quicker than if they’d ventured out on their own. Fans were eager to see them dancing in the same room, or getting together as couples. The excitement around Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson’s potential relationship, for example, rapidly helped to grow both of their accounts in the time that the rumors were flying. Hype House members expertly rose to the top of all the latest trends and dances and quickly brought out a range of colorful merchandise captured in beautiful grainy candids by influencer photographer Bryant. Subsequently, other photos taken by Bryant for the group became prime Instagram content, further pushing them to the top of everyone’s radar. Top TikTokers have left After such a rapid rise, the most popular members appear to have grown out of the need for a collective almost as quickly as they joined in the first place. The D’Amelio sisters promptly left the collective in May 2020 and worked on building up their own individual brands separate from the others. Without the Hype House, the D’Amelio sisters have their own podcast, their own makeup line, a huge partnership with Hollister, and even their own reality show in the works, among other things. Other members of the group, while technically keeping their house membership, distanced themselves from the original group. Addison Rae has become great friends with the Vlog Squad and even the Kardashians. She appears less and less in vlogs from the likes of Thomas Petrou and Alex Warren, instead showing up most frequently in vlogs from Bryce Hall, her boyfriend, and a Sway boy. In October 2020, Tayler Holder branched out and founded the Triller compound where members including Nate Wyatt, Olivia Ponton, and Kelliane Stankus also moved. And while they maintain they’re still a part of the Hype House collective, the label is tentative at best. Daisy Keech, one of the original founders, left the Hype House as soon as March 2020 and began her own collection of content houses; Clubhouse BH, Clubhouse Europe, and NotAContentHouse. The brand even created its own offshoot called Clubhouse Explore and appears to be expanding every day. Alongside the Hype House’s rise to fame, Sway house has typically followed closely behind and includes a group of the hottest male TikTokers in Los Angeles. In the past few months, those members have grown to surpass some of the core Hype House’s remaining members in followers, on TikTok and beyond. House manager Thomas Petrou’s TikTok has 8.1 million followers, while Sway boy Bryce Hall has 18.6 million. Sway house has branched out to other platforms since TikTok fame, finding new avenues for revenue including investment in products, podcasts, and YouTube where Bryce Hall has 3.4 million subscribers, whereas Alex Warren has 2.7 million. The Hype House does still have clout. Chase ‘lilhuddy’ Hudson is still a member, and has amazingly gone on to appear as the protagonist in Downfalls High by Machine Gun Kelly, and brought out his own single called ‘21st Century Vampire.’ Meanwhile, they’re still gaining new members, as Vinnie Hacker joined the collective in January 2021. Yet, fans believe they need to up their game again. When the Hype House celebrated its year anniversary on Instagram on December 19, most of the top comments were from those saying they miss the “old Hype House.” With the Sway house threatening to steal all the hype, this house might need to try harder.

Why this Logan Paul fan spent over $80k to buy Originals NFTs: “Logan is a once in a generation creator” – Dexerto
Why this Logan Paul fan spent over $80k to buy Originals NFTs: “Logan is a once in a generation creator” Instagram: onwithshahan, Logan Paul/ 99 OriginalsLogan Paul’s 99 Originals NFTs are already exceeding expectations, despite the fact it’s still early days for the collection. We spoke with Shahan Khoshafian, the buyer of the very first Originals NFT, to discuss why he bought into the project, his belief in Logan Paul, and why he believes 99 Originals is a solid investment. In May 2022, the older Paul brother launched his 99 Originals NFT collection — 99 different polaroids depicting various different things and events in his life, with each one going to auction to fans. There was a lot of speculation over how things would go with 99 Originals, and while it’s still extremely early days, the pieces have been selling at premium prices. The most expensive so far was #14 42 Bored Ape, which sold for 46.5 ETH or $104k at the time of sale. The first, though — #1 ORIGINAL_ONE — sold for a still-substantial 25 ETH/$58k to Shahan Khoshafian, who believes fully in Logan and the future of the 99 Originals project. He actually believes so much that he even bought a second. For many onlookers from the outside, buying a YouTuber’s NFT seems like a one-way ticket to disaster. We’ve seen scam allegations in abundance since the growth of crypto and NFTs as they shift more into the mainstream — but Khoshafian had no doubt in 99 Originals. “I bought this NFT to get involved in the Logan Paul ecosystem,” he told Dexerto. “Logan is a legendary content creator, he and Jake revived the sport of boxing, he launched Prime with KSI, and he’s a huge influence on culture. Logan Paul has proved time and time again that he is more than just a YouTuber. He’s a world-class athlete, podcaster, entertainer, and entrepreneur, and he surrounds himself with the greatest creatives and business-minded individuals in the world. It’s not by accident that Logan is a success. “Logan is a once in a generation level content creator and I believe in his team, conviction, and vision to make this project fly.” For someone to invest this much money into the project — around $85k, including his purchase of #92 CANNIBAL several days later — you might expect that Khoshafian is a serial blue-chip NFT holder with some serious investments in the market. Read More: Top 10 most expensive NFTs ever sold – In fact, this couldn’t be less true. “This is my first and second major NFT investment,” he said, pointing to a slight hint of FOMO as his reasoning for investing. “I chose this as my first NFT investment because I feel like I missed the boat with VeeFriends.” VeeFriends is the NFT collection created by popular internet personality and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, which has a 7.88 ETH (~$16.4k) floor price at the time of writing. While Shahan has a lot of belief in Logan as a person, he has also bought fully into the 99 Originals project itself. “I really like the fact that each NFT holder receives a 1/99 Membership & Voting Rights in the Originals DAO. The Originals DAO has a Community Treasury, with 50% of profits routed directly to the Community Treasury. “Since there are only 99 holders, I have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the success of this project. I thrive in more intimate environments and felt like this was the right fit to insert myself and share my 6+ years of crypto knowledge and experience to do my part in making this project thrive. I believe that the growth of this project will be highly exciting, original, and lucrative. I wanted an Originals NFT to become a member of the DAO and have an active role in deciding the future of the project.” The 99 Originals collection is on track to blow up, and Shahan definitely believes that the project is going places — so there’s no doubting his answer when we asked about his future plans for the NFTs. “I was the first member of the Originals DAO and I plan to stick around for the long term,” he said. “I took a leap of faith with this project as the first investor because I believe in Logan Paul. I look forward to actively participating as a member of the Originals DAO and collaborating with other members to grow this into one of the most premier NFT projects & communities.”

Why The Game Awards has a lot to learn from The Streamer Awards – Dexerto
Why The Game Awards has a lot to learn from The Streamer Awards The Streamer Awards / The Game AwardsDespite having a far smaller production budget, The Streamer Awards’ first ceremony was better than The Game Awards. The entertainment industry has a lot to learn from the Twitch and YouTube celebration. On March 12, 2022 streamers from around the world gathered in Los Angeles, California to honor their industry. The lavish event had a red carpet pre-show and a dazzling three-hour broadcast honoring the content creators who have had the biggest impact in their medium over the last year. The event was organized by a single streamer – QTCinderella – and a small production team. Despite being its first year, the self-created Streamer Awards ended up being better than The Game Awards and many other award ceremonies that are backed by major corporations. The Streamer Awards was authentic Right out of the gate, the ceremony kicked off with hosts QTCinderella and Maya Higa taking joke shots at streamers attending the event. Their sharp comedy perfectly captured the online humor that Twitch and YouTube’s communities have cultivated over the last decade. Read More: The Streamer Awards nominees & winners – While most award shows take themselves too seriously, The Streamer Awards found the perfect balance of creating a serious production while maintaining an authentic representation of their industry. No one in attendance held back and it was a refreshing level of confidence desperately missing from most award events which are so tightly scripted that they end up feeling stuffy or stale in comparison. A great start The Streamer Awards felt a little rough around the edges at times, whether it was jokes that didn’t fully translate or awkward sound mixing (the show could have done with the audience being microphoned a little louder, for example). But despite flaws, the ceremony looked absolutely incredible. Given that it was created and run by a small group of streamers is nothing short of a miracle as it easily looked as good as other events which are funded by millions of dollars. Speaking of advertisers, while they are necessary for these shows, QTCinderella perfectly integrated these sponsorships with hilarious jokes. Unlike the Game Awards which pummels you in the face with commercials for Doritos and the latest Fast and Furious film, the streaming event kept these moments brief and always with an air of levity to them. The fact that The Streamer Awards’ production was on par with major industry events is an incredible achievement. QTCinderella easily one-upped many industry veterans and it was her first try – imagine what this show could be like years from now. The Streamer Awards celebrated streaming Most importantly, the Streamer Awards ACTUALLY celebrated their own industry and creators. No, they didn’t hand trophies out during commercial breaks or quickly rush a personality off stage to slip in another sponsorship or paid advertisement. QT’s event actually cared about the content creators and the community that helped build what their industry has become today. It sounds insane but an award show that actually celebrated its own industry felt revolutionary. Even the musical performances were creators who were actually a part of the community and not some random mainstream artist being paid to take a corporate gig. Look, The Streamer Awards may have had flaws but it had heart and felt like an authentic celebration of the industry BY the industry. While The Game Awards is much larger in scope, Geoff Keighley can learn a lot from QTCinderella on how to organize and run an awards ceremony that feels authentic and actually gives creators an opportunity to be recognized for their hard work. Given that this was just the inaugural event for the streaming celebration, it’s absolutely insane how good it looked and how smoothly it was run. As livestreaming continues to grow in popularity, The Streamer Awards was an example of how the next generation of entertainers is bringing a new perspective to traditional events like award ceremonies. When all things are said and done, QTCinderella embarrassed many of the old institutions by putting on an event that not only rivaled them in production but had much more heart and care put into it. But most important of all, the event never betrayed the viewers watching from home.

Why T-Series will eventually win the YouTube race against PewDiePie – Dexerto
Why T-Series will eventually win the YouTube race against PewDiePie Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is currently ahead in the epic YouTube subscriber battle against Indian Music label T-Series, but according to demographics, he probably can’t keep his lead forever. The Swedish YouTube kingpin has been doing everything he can come up with to continue to hold the top spot, getting help from both Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk and fellow YouTube star MrBeast, who have both appeared as guest hosts for his weekly Meme Review videos. But, all of Pewd’s valiant efforts may be in vain against what’s looking to be the unstoppable internet force that is T-Series, thanks in part to the company’s huge fan base. T-Series was founded in the 1980s as a cassette tape company, and after becoming one of India’s biggest music entities in the 1990s, they began posting their catalog of Indian music videos and trailers to YouTube in late 2010. But T-Series wouldn’t start blowing up until 2016, the same year that telecommunications conglomerate Reliance Industries set up the country’s first nationwide 4G network. The new technology provided millions of Indians access to the internet at an affordable cost. With the addition of ever more affordable smartphones in recent years, the number of people connecting to the internet will only continue to increase. As they head online, they’re likely to seek out music they enjoy, which T-Series provides in abundance. “As more and more of India came along, video became the way that they were interacting with the internet,” Gautam Anand, the managing director of YouTube’s Asian branch, told the New York Times in an interview. “Even if you’re not literate, you still enjoy watching video.” Now, T-Series is host to some of India’s most popular artists, for example the music video for Indian pop star Guru Randhawa’s song “Lahore” has over 690 million views at the time of writing. T-Series success could just be the beginning of a new Indian online content gold rush. According to Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm, as of November 2018 only 34 percent of India’s 1.35 billion people are currently online regularly, compared with 89 percent of Americans. PewDiePie has fought a good fight, but changing online demographics seem to indicate that the Indian label taking his top spot isn’t a matter of if, but when.

Why Teala Dunn’s viral swimming joke is making TikTok mad – Dexerto
Why Teala Dunn’s viral swimming joke is making TikTok mad Instagram: Teala DunnTikTok fans have just about had it with ClubHouse member Teala Dunn, who is making it her mission to run one joke into the ground as far as it will go. Teala is an actress, influencer, and a member of Daisy Keech’s Clubhouse BH creator collective since July. Teala has more than 2.7 million followers on TikTok and more than 3 million followers on Instagram. But the star has come under fire in the last few weeks for repeatedly posting TikToks that use the same joke, over and over. It all began at the beginning of August when Teala posted a video saying “Fun fact, actually really really sad fact, I can’t swim, I literally don’t know how to swim, I got this big-ass pool and can’t swim.” Mid-way through the video she turns around in her bikini to directly face the pool behind her. Immediately viewers took to the comments to accuse her of baiting fans into looking at her body. One user wrote “Do you feel better now? Did he text you after posting this?”, while another commenter said, “She had to turn all the way around to make sure the pool was still there.” The comment section was filled with people describing her as “embarrassing” and “obvious.” Teala took the criticism and ran with it. In mid-August she posted another video, turning around to see the pool like her previous video and said: “The pool actually is right there…like this video if you want to teach me how to swim, please.” TikTokers didn’t appreciate round 2 either with several commenting that she had “ruined the joke.” Although not everyone was mad about it. One commenter on her latest video said “Am I the only person who still finds these funny?” Another person wrote: “It’s hilarious because y’all are so mad but she’s just vibing.” Teala wasn’t deterred. She repeated the joke in countless videos thereafter claiming she doesn’t know how to grill, that her hot tub doesn’t work and that she can’t drive a Lamborghini. In the following videos, she asked viewers to “like this video if you think the joke is getting old” and “like this video if you think I’m annoying as hell” and “Like if you think I should throw myself in the pool.” And it seems to be working, Tesla’s TikToks are consistently amassing millions of views per post, with the original video has reached more than 21,000. On every video, some people are still trying to be heard, writing comments such as “Are you gonna stop anytime soon or what?” and “This joke died ten years ago.” However, Teala’s TikTok account has grown by more than 700,000 in the last month. Perhaps the joke is on us.

Why Sea of Thieves could be the next Fortnite – Dexerto
Why Sea of Thieves could be the next Fortnite Sea of Thieves has been out for just under a year now, but the foundation and potential is there for it to be the next Fortnite – in good time. Some people might point towards that March 2018 release date and think ‘well, if it hasn’t blown up yet… Why will it blow up now?’ That’s a very fair conclusion to come to. However, in an age where so many children – and even adults – are watching, following and supporting streamers on Twitch, movements from some of the biggest personalities on the platform could be an indication towards a possible meteoric rise for the pirate game in the near future. Summit1g has established himself as the biggest Sea of Thieves streamer so far, but his ever rising popularity on Twitch seems to have turned the heads of other streamers as well – Dr Disrespect, Ninja, CouRage and TimTheTatMan are just some of the big names that have been playing the game of late. With that being said, there are many reasons related to gameplay which could also be playing a big part in the shift. Battling, sailing and taking on quests for treasure is fun. There’s an exciting competitive PvP element to it as well, when you come up against enemy crews you don’t really know what to expect. It’s unpredictable in that sense. Sit back and look at Fortnite over a sustained period of time, during Season 7 for example, and you’ll see how streamers are becoming tired of it. The game is changing rapidly and many of those changes are causing frustration on a weekly basis. You don’t get that with Sea of Thieves and it offers the same flexibility. You can play alone on a Sloop, as a duo and a trio on a Brigantine, or have a crew of up to four players on your Galleon. Surely, the likes of The Doc, Ninja and others would be able to put together some hilarious crews in that regard. When you throw down your sails and pull up your anchor, you’re going to enjoy yourself as part of a squad. That might involve your own quests, coming into contact with other players or maybe stealing loot from other ships. As Summit1g has proven already, this game can be used to create tons of good content for viewers to enjoy. The game does have its limitations, though. Sea of Thieves is very basic in terms of in-game activities and it hasn’t changed an awful lot since it was first released, whereas Epic Games – for better or for worse – is constantly innovating, finding ways to keep people interested. That doesn’t mean to say that Microsoft Studios aren’t going to innovate and grow the game, especially with increased popularity. Of course they will, but perhaps slower than these streamers will be used to. Moreover, what we’re seeing right now is a number of big streamers who have not really put much time into the game before jump on the bandwagon. For all we know, they could drop the game tomorrow and never play it again, but that’s not going to happen. This pirate game might not offer the same competitive experience as Fortnite, but with increased interest from streamers, a demand for Sea of Thieves content and a solid game that has stuck to its vision, there’s no hiding that this one could turn from a slow burner to the next big thing on Twitch.

Why so many TikTokers are trying to start music careers – Dexerto
Why so many TikTokers are trying to start music careers YouTube: The Tonight Show / SiriusXMFrom Dixie D’Amelio to Addison Rae, Bella Poarch, and more, countless TikTok stars are trying to bridge the gap between ‘influencer’ and ‘pop star.’ But why are even the most unlikely social media stars attempting to launch a music career? For many of the most popular influencers out there right now, TikTok was their starting point. The short-form video app and its huge userbase have been the catalyst for stars like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae to become prominent figures in the public eye, launching them into global fame. Many of these popular creators became renowned for their lip-syncing and dance videos — a staple of the app since the Musical.ly days — and for plenty of them, that is the content they continue to make. However, over the past couple of years, fans have been noticing that these popular TikTokers are increasingly making efforts to develop a music career — a trend that has not been entirely welcomed by many. Dixie D’Amelio released her first song ‘Be Happy’ in June 2020, and has put out several tracks since then including her most recent song ‘The Real Thing’ which was released on October 15. Addison Rae released her debut song ‘Obsessed’ in March 2021, and then, Bella Poarch, popular for her viral ‘head bobbing’ dance videos, went on to release her hugely popular song ‘Build a B*tch’ in May. Although Poarch’s track went on to be a huge success, with over 300 million YouTube hits at the time of writing, she received a wave of backlash when she initially announced the song. “Bruh they all wanna become singers,” one comment with over 300,000 likes reads, another writing, “why are TikTokers making music now?” It’s clearly a popular sentiment and marks the growing resentment among TikTok fans towards influencers who try to start music careers. But why are even the most unlikely stars attempting to break into the industry? Internet fame, in general, is temporary, but nothing is more fleeting and uncertain than TikTok fame. The stars themselves are likely to be the first to admit that they don’t know why they blew up to such an extent, and virality on TikTok is so random fire that it’s impossible to predict their growth (or their decline) with any degree of certainty. Obviously from a career or business perspective, this doesn’t have much longevity, and for that reason, these influencers with an overnight following have to convert their temporary TikTok fame into something more likely to last. Read More: Which TikTokers have launched music careers? – The music industry is a go-to route for many influencers for a number of reasons. The first is that you don’t necessarily have to be amazing at writing or even singing to become an artist. Thanks to the wonders of post-production, it’s not hard to shoe-horn an influencer who would perhaps otherwise have never attempted music into the role of a pop star. Another reason the music pathway is such a great choice for this particular generation of influencers is that TikTok is now so intrinsically linked with the music industry. The app has the power to make songs go viral in a big way out of the blue, and with almost every video having a song at least in the background, it’s quite literally the glue that holds the app together. If someone with a huge pre-existing following releases a song that blows up internally within that person’s fan base, the chances are that it will start to leak out onto the rest of the platform, giving it a good chance of going viral on a global scale. But finally, and perhaps most importantly, TikTokers are trying to break into the music industry to garner legitimacy. Outside of the TikTok bubble, it’s no secret that people generally look down on those who are famous on the app for doing viral dances and lip-syncing. Therefore, it’s reasonable that these influencers are looking for a way to convert their image into something more palatable for the mainstream media. Nessa Barrett and Jaden Hossler performed on both Jimmy Kimmel Live and the Ellen Show, but were presented as musicians rather than just ‘TikTok stars,’ and even commenters seemed to agree that they were managing to change their image. Even Addison Rae’s performance of ‘Obsessed’ on Jimmy Fallon gave her the opportunity to appear as something more than just an influencer. Of course, within this group of influencers-turned-musicians, there are inevitable differences in talent, and while some stars like Nessa are getting praised for their genuine vocal skills, others are being called out by those who feel their sudden focus on a music career is disingenuous and forced. There will no doubt be more viral creators to try and join the wave of influencers starting music careers in the near future, but whether this proves to be a good move for their career longevity remains to be seen.

PewDiePie explains why he doesn’t care about YouTube views anymore – Dexerto
PewDiePie explains why he doesn’t care about YouTube views anymore YouTube: PewDiePieFelix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg has laughed off concerns over his dwindling YouTube popularity, and the steep drop in views, claiming he “already feels retired” and stopped caring about fame a long time ago. For years, Swedish content creator PewDiePie reigned supreme as the King of YouTube, sparked by his huge T-Series vs Pewds rivalry, extraordinarily popular Minecraft videos, and more. In more recent times, however, the 32-year-old has found his average video views dropping away, his interactions dwindling, and his popularity seemingly “fading away” in a way he and his fans have never seen before. While his “Bro Army” may care, Pewds says it doesn’t bother him in the slightest. He’s already climbed to the immense heights of the top of YouTube, he says — a goal he “didn’t even really want,” ironically enough — and has been purposefully “doing what [he] likes” for months. “I’ve said it before,” he said after one worried fan raised concerns. “I’ve considered myself retired for like a year now. I’m only doing YouTube videos for fun now.” The biggest concern the PewDiePie fandom has had in the past few months has been around the Swede’s immense subscriber count, and how having those 110 million followers doesn’t translate to video views anymore. Felix was quick to brush those concerns in a December 2 video. “This channel is so hyper-inflated by the T-Series rivalry, so it’s not like they’re all my dedicated fans anyway. And then, I’m doing what I like doing. People have always put me in a box, and I think that’s the big problem here. I’m doing what I like, and that means that people will stop watching me. “Honestly,” he continued, “I’m kind of getting tired of it. I’m just trying to have fun, and people say ‘I wish he was like he was five years ago!’ That’s not what I want to do. Years ago I did horror, and when I stopped my views dropped then. “I’m allowed to change. I stopped worrying about if people were watching, and started making things I wanted,” he said. “It’s normal to change.” Related segment begins at 2:07 in the video below. Funnily enough, the “drop” in PewDiePie’s immense YouTube popularity still leaves him raking in more than two million views per video, and he often adds more than a million new subscribers each month that he uploads. Kjellberg admits he’s “extremely lucky” to have the success he’s enjoyed over the past decade, and says he’s “chilling” now. At the moment the Swede is enjoying reaction videos, but the 32-year-old admits that could change again too. If that comes with less views, he adds, “so be it.” “People always complain,” he said. “When I did games, people complained. When I watched Reddit videos lots, they complained. They do it for everything.”

Why Sarah Silverman was fired from SNL – Dexerto
Why Sarah Silverman was fired from SNL WIKIMEDIA, JOAN GARVINSarah Silverman explains why she was fired from SNL after being a regular cast member for just one season. Silverman has made a name for herself as a stand-up comedian, actress, writer, and producer. She’s known for telling outrageous and vulgar jokes, as well as starring in Hollywood movies like ‘There’s Something About Mary’ and ‘Don’t Look Up’ She was also a regular cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, before getting fired after appearing on the comedy show for just one season. Silverman first joined SNL in 1993, at 22 years old. She worked as a writer for the show, and appeared in smaller roles for skits. Only one of her sketches made it to dress rehearsals before it was thrown out prior to airing. In early 1994, after just 18 weeks, Silverman was fired via fax. The reason why Sarah Silverman was fired In a sit-down interview, the comedian said that she was fired because she didn’t fit in with the “Bad Boys of SNL,” and was hired at a time of widespread change for the show. The “Bad Boys” title was given to SNL stars Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and Chris Farley, after they brought new energy to the show when it was declining. “I mean it wasn’t like I did something wrong,” Silverman said, “I was hired and… I was, I think that last year of the old guard, and [then] they started anew.” She also joked that she didn’t write a “single funny sketch, which might have something to do with it too.” When asked if she would do SNL again, Silverman responded with confidence: “Yeah, I’m funnier! Why Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Drivers License’ went viral on TikTok: a timeline – Dexerto
Why Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘Drivers License’ went viral on TikTok: a timeline Instagram: olivia.rodrigoStar of Disney channel’s High School Musical series Olivia Rodrigo has taken TikTok by storm with her new hit ‘Driver’s License,’ with many fans speculating that it was written about co-star Joshua Bassett, and fan theories going viral. Here’s everything that’s happened so far. 17-year-old Olivia Rodrigo is a singer and actress who first made her Disney channel debut with the show Bizaardvark, and then later went on to star in a leading role as part of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Avid TikTok users may recognize her voice from the song ‘All I Want’ that she wrote for the High School Musical series. The song went unexpectedly viral on the app, with many shocked that the beautiful track had originated from a Disney show. In her debut single ‘Drivers License’ Olivia flexes her insane voice and songwriting talent yet again. But many fans have theorized that the song could be about co-star Joshua Bassett, and it has got people on TikTok making theory videos matching up lyrics of the songs with aspects of her real life, boosting the song’s virality even more. But how exactly did ‘Driver’s License’ become so viral, and what has happened since the song took off? Here’s everything you need to know. February 2019 – Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett become co-stars In February 2019, production began for Disney Channel’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which follows a group of students who put on a production of High School Musical for their school production. Olivia starred as Nini, who in the show is cast as main female lead Gabriella Montez from the original HSM, and Joshua starred as Ricky, who gets cast as the main male lead, and Gabriella’s love interest, Troy Bolton. The show was also renewed for a second season. August 2020 – Olivia Rodrigo hints at a potential breakup The star was originally asked to write the song ‘All I Want’ for the Disney series, but it found an unexpectedly warm reception on TikTok especially, with countless people using the sound for their own emotional TikToks, surprised to learn that it was part of the soundtrack for a High School Musical series. Olivia posted her own TikTok with the song in the background, with the in-video caption, “you think you can hurt my feelings? I wrote this song.” In the description beneath the video she wrote, “and that’s on failed relationships,” which led some to believe she had experienced a breakup – though it was unclear who she could have broken up with. January 8, 2021 – Olivia releases debut single ‘Driver’s License’ Fans of ‘All I Want’ were thrilled when they found out that Olivia would be releasing her debut single, and it’s safe to say people loved the bittersweet lyrics and stunning arrangement of ‘Drivers License’ when it was released on January 8. On January 9, not long after release, ‘Drivers License’ had ascended to number one on the US iTunes sales charts, a testament to the love the song was getting from her fans, and TikTok users alike. January 9, 2021 – Theories about the song go viral on TikTok It didn’t take long for TikTok users to get invested in the emotional meaning behind the song, and many took note of some distinctive lyrics that seemed to match up with events in real life, implying that Joshua was the one who could have prompted the emotional song. User morganvybihal highlighted some potential ‘easter eggs’ in Olivia’s new music video. She appeared to be wearing a denim borg jacket very similar to one that Joshua wore in the HSM series. They also pulled up an image of Olivia playing a keyboard from the show, matching it up with a scene in the music video that shows her playing a toy piano on the floor, adding to the references that could tie this song to the series in some way. Another user posted a video in which Olivia recalls her first time driving with Joshua because she didn’t have her permit. The TikTok then plays a short clip of the song in which the star sings “I got my driver’s license last week,” and mentions how they always used to talk about it. Read More: What is the viral tortilla hack on TikTok?? – Perhaps most significantly, many suspect that the “blonde girl” Olivia refers to could actually be singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter, as the pair have seemingly got closer lately. Olivia herself has not confirmed whether the song is about Joshua or not, and seems she just wants to enjoy the success of her new song without directing hate toward any party rumored to be involved. But it’s safe to say that fans are hugely invested in the song and its meaning. January 10, 2021 – Taylor Swift praises Olivia Rodrigo Olivia has made no secret of her love for singer Taylor Swift, occasionally posting about her on her Instagram account, and she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw that Taylor herself had commented on her post about ‘Drivers License’ being next to the popular singer on the iTunes charts. Taylor wrote, “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud,” leaving fans (and of course Olivia) delighted that the pair had a chance to interact. View this post on Instagram January 22, 2021 – Sabrina Carpenter releases song ‘Skin’ The attention toward Olivia Rodrigo has amped up again after Sabrina Carpenter, the girl that many fans assumed was the “blonde girl” mentioned in Drivers License, released a song of her own. Her song is titled ‘Skin,’ and listeners noticed some lines in the song that may indicate that it’s a response to Olivia’s insanely popular track. Sabrina sings, “maybe you didn’t mean it, maybe “blonde” was the only rhyme,” in a potential reference to the iconic “you’re probably with that blonde girl,” line from Olivia’s own song. In the bridge, Carpenter also sings, “don’t drive yourself insane,” which many also took to be a reference to the theme of driving in the original song. She has not confirmed that the song is actually about Olivia, but many fans seem to believe it is. Some have said they think the song was written to hit out at the young star, but others actually think that the lyrics taking Olivia’s side against haters, and those prying into their personal lives. Please read this so you can understand. Sabrina Carpenter is a beautiful soul and has been suffering a lot of hate in the past few weeks! pic.twitter.com/9NZWZEYefG — Mariana Gonzales (@mar1_gonzales) January 22, 2021 Regardless of the intention, the new release has brought attention to the situation again, with countless TikToks going viral for reactions and memes about the exchange. ‘Drivers License’ has quite literally become an overnight sensation, racking up over 9 million views within the space of just a few days. While Olivia hasn’t confirmed who the song is really about — if it’s even about anyone in particular — the song is still proving to be a huge hit for its heartfelt lyrics.

Why Ninja moving to Mixer is a good thing – Dexerto
Why Ninja moving to Mixer is a good thing Ryan HadjiFormer Counter-Logic Gaming CEO Devin Nash believes that everyone can benefit from Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins’ move from Twitch to Mixer – including the platforms. Ninja shocked the streaming world on August 1 by calling time on his eight-year-long relationship with Twitch and heading over to Mixer. The former Halo pro made the announcement through a press conference video where he interviewed himself and revealed that the switch was going to take place. Before even going live for the first time on the new platform, he had smashed subscriber records – thanks in part to everyone getting a free first month to sub. His first few streams, playing Fortnite alongside World Champion Bugha were an undoubted success – despite a few heckles from onlookers. It’s a move that former Counter-Logic Gaming CEO Devin Nash believes will impact everyone for all the right reasons. Breaking down the move, Nash dove into how it wasn’t a surprise switch – and that Twitch would have known in advance. He also explained how its good for all parties involved – Twitch, Mixer, and Ninja. “If Ninja can actually convert a lot of viewers over to Mixer, and then get streamers to start using this platform, it’s a really intelligent move for Mixer,” Nash stated. He also added that Mixer will be in a position to sell adverts against Ninja that will see them recoup a profit against whatever initial outlay they made signing him. The ex-CLG CEO believes that Twitch can profit from the move as well. “It will finally force Twitch to compete,” he added, while also citing stats that state that the platform’s overall watch time is declining compared to the growth of competitors. Of course, Ninja himself will profit with monetary gain from the outset, while also potentially reinvigorating his streaming career thanks to making the move. Nash added that the streamer does not have to focus on streaming, even if he may want to, because his income is guaranteed and he can grow himself elsewhere – making appearances on talk shows and becoming the biggest name attached to Fortnite. Since Ninja has moved over to Mixer, no other bigger streamer has followed in his footsteps but it doesn’t seem to be out of the question. H3H3’s Ethan Klein revealed, during a recent podcast, that he knows of top streamers who are considering making the switch as well. It remains to be seen if anyone else will follow Ninja to Mixer, or if streamers will stick to Twitch as the platform, perhaps, revamps itself.

Why Olivia Rodrigo won’t respond to “Skins” song by Sabrina Carpenter – Dexerto
Why Olivia Rodrigo won’t respond to “Skins” song by Sabrina Carpenter Instagram: oliviarodrigo / Instagram: sabrinacarpenterDespite taking aim at Olivia Rodrigo’s hit song Drivers License, Sabrina Carpenter’s Skins hasn’t motivated the breakout TikTok star to follow up with another track of her own. Rodrigo took the internet by storm to kickoff 2021. Drivers License has been heard by tens of millions of fans around the globe as it became part of a major TikTok trend. It even reigned supreme atop the music industry for a brief period, and Rodrigo has attracted her fair share of backlash. Carpenter, a fellow musician, has come into the spotlight of late with a popular song of her own. Released on February 2, “Skins” appears to be a direct response to the lyrics throughout Drivers License. After a month of speculation from the TikTok fandom, Rodrigo has finally commented on the ‘clap back’ and revealed if a follow-up song is on the way. “Would you ever do a response song to the response song?” Rodrigo was asked in an interview with Radio.com. “I actually don’t know her at all,” she immediately replied. “I think we’ve met once or twice in passing but I’ve never had a conversation with her. I don’t think I could write a song that was meaningful or emotional about somebody that I don’t know. Despite a song that was clearly aimed towards the latest TikTok sensation, it appears Carpenter’s track may have fallen on deaf ears. Rodrigo’s lyrics address a “blonde girl who always made [her] doubt.” Read More: What is the viral tortilla hack on TikTok?? – Carpenter responds to these lines directly in Skins. “Maybe you didn’t mean it, maybe blonde was the only rhyme,” she questioned in the 2021 single. “You’ve been telling your side, so I’ll be telling mine,” the song continues, alleging that Drivers License failed to paint the full picture of a troubled relationship in question. “Some people will believe it and some will read in between the lines.” Whatever the truth may be, it doesn’t appear as though Rodrigo has any intention of responding to the song anytime soon.

Why Kendall Jenner’s TikTok account was suddenly deleted – Dexerto
Why Kendall Jenner’s TikTok account was suddenly deleted Kendall Jenner, Instagram / Freepik.com, TikTokReality TV star and American model Kendall Jenner debuted her highly-anticipated TikTok account on February 2 — but just 24 hours later, her profile was nowhere to be found. Jenner made her appearance on the platform with a video set to King Staccz’s “Pretty Face,” which subsequently went viral. Boasting over 920,000 likes, the model’s account quickly garnered a similarly massive following, with half a million users flocking to stay tuned to her upcoming content. https://twitter.com/MARGlELJUANA/status/1224432215343292417?s=20 Unfortunately, these fans won’t be receiving any new videos from the Jenner family mogul anytime soon, as her TikTok profile disappeared without any fanfare the very next day. Both TikTok and Jenner herself didn’t comment on profile’s mysterious deletion at the time, which came shortly after the suspension of YouTuber Tana Mongeau’s own channel on the highly popular mobile app. However, Mongeau gave a convincing explanation for the development, claiming that she had “thrown a bong” during one of her videos (although her “promise” to wear clothes had fans confused as to the actual reason for her surprise ban for a moment). In comparison, it didn’t seem like Jenner had committed any faux-pas on the app, prompting critics to scratch their heads in concern and throw around theories as to why her account has gone missing. https://www.instagram.com/p/BzFAeOfBuL6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Now, they have an explanation, and it takes a turn worthy of a mystery novel: it seems that Kendall’s account wasn’t actually Jenner at all, but instead an impersonator, who posted old videos to the site from the model’s Instagram stories using her name. Thus, TikTok’s suspension of the account comes as a welcome development, although the company has yet to comment on how or why the fake Kendall Jenner was verified, in the first place. TikTok’s verification guide states that there are “a number of factors considered in granting a verified badge, including whether the notable account is authentic, unique, active, and – of course – adheres to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.” We’ll bet that impersonating a celebrity goes against those Guidelines, although further info from the site is still pending at the time of writing.

Why Logan Paul wants to fight Anthony Joshua after KSI rematch – Dexerto
Why Logan Paul wants to fight Anthony Joshua after KSI rematch Instagram: Logan Paul/WikimediaPopular American YouTuber Logan Paul is bizarrely targeting a fight with professional heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, following his rematch with KSI, according to reports. Boxing is the sport that has taken over the YouTube scene, since KSI and Joe Weller took to the ring back in early 2018 to settle their feud. KSI won that match comfortably and has since gone on to fight American YouTube giant Paul, in a match that controversially ended in a draw. The two have agreed to a rematch in Los Angeles on November 9, with a number of professional fights on the undercard. Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has already commented on the potential of the fight in promoting boxing to fans outside of the sport. However, after the KSI fight, Logan has apparently stated that he wants to continue his professional boxing career by facing none other than British heavyweight Anthony Joshua. A former world-heavyweight champion, Joshua held four heavyweight belts prior to his shock defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr, back in June. It was a bout that saw Joshua lose by TKO in the seventh round, losing all his belts to the Mexican. The two have a rematch scheduled for December 7 in Saudi Arabia. The Express reports that a boxing source told them: “Logan wants to actually continue doing this after KSI. He wants to continue boxing professionally. Logan even wants Anthony Joshua, he wants them all.” Essentially, if the source is to be believed, Logan wants to remain a professional boxer, and is targeting Joshua for a headline fight. KSI and Logan Paul’s second press conference, this time from London, is scheduled for Monday, October 7. The source also relayed Paul’s confidence going into the rematch, stating that: “He’s on a mission, he posted on his Instagram stories that he will kill KSI. That’s a whole different level (of confidence).” It seems incredibly unlikely we’ll see any interest from Joshua in a fight with Paul, particularly given the fact he has some of the world’s biggest boxing names – like Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury – vying for a match against him. Read More: Marzia updates fans after gruesome injury – Despite this, the very fact that KSI and Logan Paul are having a professional fight promoted by Eddie Hearn would have at one point been laughed at, so never say never.

Why Jake Paul is ending his beef with the Dolan Twins – Dexerto
Why Jake Paul is ending his beef with the Dolan Twins Jake Paul, YouTubeYouTube stars Jake Paul and the Dolan Twins have officially quashed their years-long feud, which began in 2017 after the Twins accused Paul of taking unwarranted responsibility for their social media stardom. The Dolan Twins uploaded a YouTube video on May 25, where Grayson surprised brother Ethan with a $40k housewarming gift — which included a surprising appearance from Jake Paul, who helped pull off the wholesome practical joke. This feature came as a shock to fans, as the Dolan Twins had previously feuded with the youngest Paul brother for seemingly claiming the Twins’ YouTube fame in his memoir, ‘You Gotta Want It.’ “Jake never tried to sign us,” the Twins said of the subject in an interview with YouTuber Caspar Lee. “There’s something in his book that says something how he… like we were his ‘test experiments,’ and he flew us out to L.A. — which he didn’t.” “…It was everyone bringing each other up,” the continued, discussing the collaborative ‘vibe’ of the Team 10 house. “I would never say [that] about somebody, even if I did. I didn’t make you, your mom made you. How do you ‘make’ someone?” This notably sparked some debate among the YouTubers’ respective fanbases, and it was soon theorized that the content creators weren’t too fond of each other — until recently. Paul uploaded his own YouTube video that promised to address the topic on May 28, where he and the Twins recreated one of their old collaborative uploads from years and years ago. However, the group didn’t exactly discuss their prior drama, likely keeping the details behind doors — but the good news is that both parties appear to be on good terms, with fans sounding off in support in the comments section congratulating their rekindled friendship. (Topic begins at 5:40) That’s not all; the trio even celebrated their reunion with a humorous TikTok, recreating an old photo of theirs to Simple Plan’s upbeat lyrics, “I’m just a kid.” the trio is back haha @GraysonDolan @EthanDolan pic.twitter.com/98gwnvaAUV — Jake Paul (@jakepaul) May 25, 2020 While fans may never know what prompted the group to make amends, at least they’re back to their old shenanigans — and we’re here for it.

Why Jake Paul isn’t the trendsetter he likes to think he is – Dexerto
Why Jake Paul isn’t the trendsetter he likes to think he is Instagram: jakepaulJake Paul is one of the most recognizable faces in online video, but he’s not the big trendsetter that he likes to claim he is. No, he didn’t didn’t invent the content house. No, he didn’t invent YouTube boxing, and no, he wasn’t the first YouTuber to be raided by the FBI. [jwplayer smynPnSq] Jake Paul continues to be a major contributor — for good and evil — towards the wider debate around YouTube. But the cocky creator seems too eager to cement his place in the history of online video, making outlandish claims that he was the mastermind behind content houses, YouTube boxing and more. Overnight on November 15, the younger Paul brother courted controversy in the way he’s become known for by tweeting an outlandish claim about his impact on the online video space. I create the first content house Then there’s 500 content houses I start boxing Now every influencer is a boxer What’s next? Y’all gon get raided by the FBI on purpose? — Jake Paul (@jakepaul) November 15, 2020 Paul claimed he “created the first content house,” which gave birth to “500 content houses.” He said that “every influencer is a boxer” after he started boxing. And he questioned what’s next: “Y’all gon get raided by the FBI on purpose?” — a reference to an August 2020 incident when his Calabasas home was raided by the FBI connected to an investigation of him being filmed in the presence of looting at a mall in Scottsdale, Arizona. But Paul is overstating his impact. Yes, his every word is newsworthy — as evidenced by the fact we’re talking about him here. But he didn’t invent YouTube, and he doesn’t necessarily create trends on the site anymore. MaiLinh Nguyen, a former videographer for Paul, felt the need to correct his claims, pointing out that others gathered together in a collab house long before Paul set up Team 10’s mansion in Calabasas. I…don’t think we were the first content house though lol. Also, respectfully, other creators claiming they were..I don’t think that’s the case either. While not a collective channel, wouldn’t the Maker Studios house be the 1st? Like ‘09? (Someone correct me here if I’m wrong) https://t.co/p4ttvC5RfO — MaiLinh Nguyen (@mailinh) November 16, 2020 In her thread, Nguyen pointed out that Paul certainly wasn’t the first. The Station, a collection of Maker Studios creators including Phil DeFranco, LisaNova and Shane Dawson, pioneered the idea in 2009, though not all of them lived together. In 2014, the O2L Mansion was born. Even the Sidemen house predated the Team 10 house by a couple of years. But collaborative places to work and produce online video existed long before YouTube: The Spot, which ran between 1995 and 1997, the year Paul was born, did a similar thing, though the cast was fictional. Paul could make a decent claim to have popularized the idea of collaborative working with peers in the same rough location, first as part of his membership of the loose collection of creators living at 1600 Vine, before then moving into the Team 10 mansion. Certainly, we’re seeing vast numbers of collab houses pop up, inspired off the back of the Hype House, which had its precedent in the Team 10 mansion through founder Thomas Petrou. But, as Nguyen tweeted, “that’s not what [Paul] claimed in his tweet.” This isn’t to say that Team 10 wasn’t the spark of ✨something✨ in the digital landscape — regarding social collectives that are run as a specific business from the jump. As I would be inclined to agree if that were the case, but that’s not what he claimed in his tweet. — MaiLinh Nguyen (@mailinh) November 16, 2020 Likewise, Paul’s claims to have invented YouTube boxing don’t stand up. For one thing, neither he nor his brother were on the card at the first white collar YouTube boxing match, held in London in February 2018, which saw KSI beat Joe Weller. Seeing the success of that event, the Pauls got involved and turned the spectacle into a global phenomenon that sold out the Manchester Arena and took over Los Angeles. But he didn’t invent it: in fact, he piggybacked on a pre-existing trend after seeing its popularity. That’s something Paul often does; by sheer scale of his audience, he’s often the person who popularizes trends to a mainstream audience, but scratch beneath the surface and you see other people have done it first. He’s able to capitalize on spotting ideas just before the wave breaks on them becoming major movements. Yet by constantly looking at the latest trends, Paul ignores the long and storied history of online video. This is now a mature space, and a significant industry with a past that should be remembered and celebrated. It’s important to remember the first vloggers who laid the path for those like Paul to make their millions – and too often, they’re overlooked for the latest trends. It’s important to remember seminal moments like The Spot, The Station and KSI versus Joe Weller. The internet moves fast, and we forget moments too quickly in favor of the new. As for Paul’s claim that he invented YouTubers getting in trouble with and raided by the FBI, well, for one thing it’s not a claim to fame most ordinary people would be so keen to grab. But even if it was, it’s not something that Paul can factually say he did first, as far as influencers go. We even reported on IcePoseidon’s FBI raid a year and a half before authorities rocked up at the gate of Paul’s mansion in the hills. Paul’s famous as a high school dropout, who’s proven his teachers, who claimed he’d never amount to much, wrong. But he – like all of us – could do with brushing up on his online video history out of class.

Why isn’t Sykkuno streaming? Fans told to stop pushing him for Rust streams – Dexerto
Why isn’t Sykkuno streaming? Fans told to stop pushing him for Rust streams Twitch: SykkunoFans of Twitch and YouTube sensation Sykkuno have started calling on others to stop begging his fellow streamers to ask him to stream when he’s just chilling and playing games. In recent weeks and months, OfflineTV’s Sykkuno has skyrocketed in terms of popularity on Twitch – gaining over one and a half million followers as he closes in on three million overall. His community has not just grown on Twitch, though, as his fans are incredibly active across social media, especially on Twitter. However, that popularity comes with pitfalls. Some fans have already been called out for overstepping the mark and making him uncomfortable with the gifts they’ve sent through his PO Box, and now other fans have been called out for begging other streamers to ask Sykkuno to stream. It came on January 22, where the 28-year-old was playing Rust but not actually streaming. That prompted some of his fans to donate to the streamers he was playing him, asking them to ask him to stream. “Can you like please not ask me to ask people to stream,” replied Aussie streamer Ash_on_lol. “It’s kind of weird, it’s pretty rude. Guys, if you see other streamers playing while they’re not streaming, it’s probably because they want to play and chill. “If they wanted to stream, they would, so please don’t pressure anybody into doing something they don’t want to, that’s wrong of you.” someone had the audacity to donate to Ash saying “”you should get Sykkuno to stream””.. please its not hard to respect streamers, its up to them to decide whether they want to stream or not simple as that. They all have addressed this a million times, yet it still keeps happening. pic.twitter.com/IZW87af7Z6 — Sykkuno Clips 🌱 (@botkkuno) January 23, 2021 Ultimately, the message started to make the rounds among Sykkuno fans on Twitter, with many of them backing Ash’s thoughts. Streamers, big and small, will always get pushy viewers, but ultimately, they choose when to stream and create content, nobody else. They’re not robots and need their own time, just like anyone else.

Why is #YouTubeIsOver trending on Twitter? – Dexerto
Why is #YouTubeIsOver trending on Twitter? Recent changes to YouTube’s platform regarding content geared towards children and videos marked by YouTube as ‘harassment’ have caused users on Twitter to get #YouTubeIsOver trending. But is this really the end for the video juggernaut? It’s a notion that’s circulated around the internet before: that YouTube is dying/dead and that this one thing they’ve done now is what will get people to finally switch platforms en masse. This time around, people online really, truly believe that it might actually happen, but why? Why is YouTube “over”? What’s caused the #YouTubeIsOver trend? The declarations that the Google-run video platform is nearing its end times stem from two recent changes that have to do with the push to make the service more kid-friendly. First were the changes caused by the new COPPA regulations from back in November, which set that machine-learning will determine what videos and channels are to be determined as child-friendly. One of the most influential YouTubers in Felix ‘Pewdiepie’ Kjellberg was livid at the idea of being sued or having his content automatically flagged because of the new rules set to start in 2020. But a new policy from YouTube that supposedly cracks down on online harassment is apparently going too far, as many users allege that the policy on harassment is also taking down videos where YouTubers are criticizing or calling out other YouTubers. What does the new policy mean? Officially, YouTube announced the changes on Wednesday, December 11 in a post titled “An update to our harassment policy.” The post outlines that YouTube is expanding their policies to take a stronger stance towards “veiled or implied threats,” “content that maliciously insults someone based on protected attributes,” and repeated behavior that doesn’t necessarily cross the policy line. Several prominent YouTubers are already noticing the effects of the new policy, alleging that other YouTubers might be using this policy to get videos critical of them flagged as “harassment.” Ian ‘iDubbbz’ Carter posted on his Twitter that his Content Cop video regarding YouTuber LeafyIsHere was removed on December 11 for violating guidelines. Download ur favorite bullying vids, before yt takes them down pic.twitter.com/3YajQJbr5G — idubbbz (@Idubbbz) December 11, 2019 Host of DramaAlert, Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem has been very vocal about the new changes, even alleging that Ethan ‘H3H3’ Klein got the CEO of YouTube to remove a Gokanaru video that was critical of him. KEEM is also worried that his videos could be “misunderstood as harassment,” and that his career might be in danger. Most the videos criticizing you @h3h3productions when you were 100% messing up about a year ago have been removed from YouTube deemed as harassment. Correct me if im wrong but didn’t you have a meeting with @SusanWojcicki earlier this year ? I swear i heard u say that somewhere! pic.twitter.com/hxTfB34zRo — KEEM 🍿 (@KEEMSTAR) December 11, 2019 As far as i can tell i haven’t lost any vids to the new TOS changes. However with that being said. I can’t see any path that i am safe in the future. I try to insert my own humor in my news reporting & i can see that being misunderstood as Harassment! I’m scared for the future. — KEEM 🍿 (@KEEMSTAR) December 11, 2019 YouTube Gokanaru, who made the video about H3H3 that was removed on the same day as the new policies, described them as painting “with a broad brush to ensure full coverage.” Paint with a broad brush to ensure full coverage https://t.co/4Fnx1rWqWx — Gokanaru (@Gokanaru) December 11, 2019 What happens next? Many fans online are calling for prominent YouTubers to finally break free and move to a new platform, but like every other time fans have called for a mass exodus, it’s halted by the notion that there is no viable alternative. The same suggestions like Twitch and Vimeo pop up, but prominent YouTubers who have built a career on that website aren’t going to gamble that to switch platforms. Unlike in streaming, where sites like Mixer can offer financial safety in the form of a contract that ensures money despite a drop in views, other video sites can’t or won’t offer the same thing to YouTubers. However, if more popular videos critical of other YouTubers are removed using the new harassment policies, then that coupled with the new COPPA regulations in 2020 might cause resentment toward YouTube to hit an all-time high, leaving a new platform the opportunity to come in and really change things up.

Why is #TwitchBanJonnyCraig trending on Twitter? – Dexerto
Why is #TwitchBanJonnyCraig trending on Twitter? The “TwitchBanJonnyCraig” hashtag has been trending on Twitter as users campaign for Canadian musician and streamer Johnny Craig to be indefinitely suspended from the Amazon-owned streaming platform. Jonny Craig was the lead vocalist for post-hardcore band Slaves, with whom he released three studio albums between 2014 to 2018. However, he was dropped from the lineup in January 2019, with addiction issues cited as the reason for his removal. The 33-year-old has been streaming since then, but many want his Twitch channel shut down for good after he was accused of sexual assault by his ex-girlfriend in December 2019. Why is #TwitchBanJonnyCraig trending? This isn’t the first time that Jonny Craig has faced such allegations. He was accused of rape and sexual assault back in 2017, claims which the singer vehemently denied at the time. His band supported him, but Slaves were voted off the Warped Tour by other groups and crew members who were working on the shows, and they were dropped from their record label, Artery Records. Craig was once again accused of sexual assault on December 31, 2019 by ex-girlfriend Taylor Nicole Dean. She made the allegations in a YouTube video, in which she called the former Slaves frontman “dangerous”. Tweeting the link to the video, she wrote: “Every time he hurt me I wondered if anyone would ever know. Every night I cried alone I wondered if anyone would ever know. I never thought I’d choose myself over him, but today I did.” every time he hurt me I wondered if anyone would ever know. every night I cried alone I wondered if anyone would ever know. I hope I take her for everything, I hate to be petty, but you wanted to play the game and now you got it. “I’m going to own them for the rest of their f**king lives. Why is TikTok glitching? Users report strange bugs – Dexerto
Why is TikTok glitching? Users report strange bugs TikTokTikTok users have been reporting strange bugs on January 25, with some glitches prevents people from watching more than a few videos in a row, others seeing a particular glitch involving green and black pixels. [jwplayer pNjHVqy4] Particularly over the past year, TikTok has become an absolute hub of activity, with millions flocking to the app each day to post and view content, using their For You Page to discover new trends and sounds. With so many users and new features being added all the time, it’s expected that there will be the occasional technical hitch. In May 2020, some users found that they weren’t even able to open the app, leading to some panicked posts on social media. This time it seems that rather than having trouble opening the app, people are experiencing bizarre glitches when watching videos, that either block the screen or leave them unable to play videos altogether. My tiktok fyp is glitching, every other video stops working half way through. And will just stop or start over after 10 seconds. Anyone else have this problem? #TikTok #fyp #tiktokfyp #tiktokglitch — kayla nichole (@k_aylanichole) January 25, 2021 @tiktok_us my tiktok is glitching really bad. Video freezes and turns into green and black pixels. Anyone else? #tiktok #glitch — Jinni Campbell (@JinniWorkmanxox) January 25, 2021 https://twitter.com/angelaalmightyy/status/1353720378741329921 The issues only seem to be happening for certain people and does not seem to be an issue affecting the app as a whole. As for why the glitches are happening – that is yet unclear, as TikTok support have not currently released any statements regarding the issue. While it says on the iOs App Store that TikTok was last updated on January 21, on the Google Play store it says it was last updated on January 24, but whether that’s anything to do with the reported glitches at all is not confirmed. How to fix TikTok glitches While it does appear that this is an issue affecting more than just a few users, it could be worth running through the troubleshooting steps that TikTok suggests on their website to see if it will help restore the operation of the app and allow you to watch videos again. They suggest: Restarting the app, or your whole device. – Check your internet connection. – Clear your cache (Go to the ‘Me’ tab, click the three dots to open settings, scroll down to the clear cache button.) – There’s no guarantee that these steps will solve any issues you may be having, but as the current glitch issue does not seem to be affecting all users, it may help you establish whether your issue is a part of this wider outage. It’s likely that these issues will be resolved soon, and many users are awaiting the return of their functional FYPs so they can carry on scrolling through content as normal.

Why is “tommy neg” trending on Twitter? TommyInnit sparks outrage with Jschlatt joke – Dexerto
Why is “tommy neg” trending on Twitter? TommyInnit sparks outrage with Jschlatt joke YouTube: TommyInnitPopular YouTuber TommyInnit has sparked outrage across Twitter after appearing to make fun of the Minecraft fanbase in a response to fellow influencer Dream. The Minecraft fandom has been a whirlwind of drama over the past few days. After Dream appeared in an interview with YouTuber Anthony Padilla, he received backlash for his comments about throwing out his own ADHD medication, as well as for his purported thoughts on alleged racism in his community shortly thereafter. Now, all eyes have shifted over to Minecrafter TommyInnit, who boasts over 9 million subscribers on YouTube for his hilarious antics in the popular multiplayer sandbox game. The current scandal revolves around Tommy, Dream, and another creator named ‘Jschlatt,’ who has come under fire in the past for making problematic jokes in his YouTube videos. On Twitter, Dream shared a video created by YouTube that explains the Dream SMP — a hugely popular survival multiplayer server that Dream created, which serves as the popular hangout spot and content mine for himself and his friends. TommyInnit appeared to notice that YouTube’s explanatory video contained a few moments featuring Jschlatt, and poked fun at the Minecraft fanbase’s past responses to the YouTuber in a reply to Dream’s tweet. “They included a few jschlatt moments in this video,” Tommy wrote. “Do they not know of his wrongdoings? Do they not know?! I am not happy, Dream.” Needless to say, Tommy’s post didn’t go over well with the Minecraft community, who quickly got the term “tommy neg” trending on Twitter — a phrase that’s meant to shorten “TommyInnit” and “negative.” Upset fans discussed why they felt Tommy’s post was hurtful, claiming that he was mocking the fanbase for holding Jschlatt accountable for his jokes. tommy neg he constantly does this bit in videos/on stream where he’s all “ *says something about schlatt* Just kidding he’s shit bad guy bad bad 😱” and everytime it feels like ppl who are uncomfy with s are being mocked.. it’s annoying, not funny, he needs to knock it off — zoe ☆ ia (@helloquackitty) June 11, 2021 // tommy neg “”why arent you just trying to educate tommy?”” because we tried that, it didn’t work. he doesn’t actually listen, he just does what he needs to in order to keep his viewership. if saying “”I’m sowwy for hurting your feewings I’m a minor🥺”” keeps viewership he’ll do it— noah ✡︎ (@TrucksHavingSex) June 11, 2021 // tommy neg it’s frustrating that a white man has the privilege to sit there and mock minorities and recieve no criticism and when said minorities voice their complaints abt why we feel mocked, we are met with other white people telling us we are overreacting. — mocha :3 (@mochabearr) June 11, 2021 Tommy has yet to reply to the outrage at the time of writing, leaving many concerned fans and critics awaiting an official response to the ongoing situation.

Why is the thumbs-up emoji being canceled? – Dexerto
Why is the thumbs-up emoji being canceled? AppleThe thumbs-up emoji is in the crosshairs of Gen Z after kids voted the emoji the most likely to make its users seem old. Wake up honey, the thumbs-up emoji has been canceled. While typically canceling is for comedians who cross the line, or celebrities caught on a hot mic, this latest cancelation is not of a person, but of an emoji. Particularly, the thumbs-up emoji. Although this emoji has been typically used for approval and has a positive connotation, according to Gen Z, the thumbs-up emoji should be done for. Gen Z cancels thumbs-up emoji A recent post on Reddit went massively viral which showed a poll taken amongst 2,000 kids within the Gen Z age range of 16-29. In the poll, people said that the thumbs-up emoji was the most likely to make the user look ‘old,’ with 24% of votes. In second place was the red love heart, and third was the OK hand. One of the poll respondents claimed that using the thumbs-up is a “bit hostile.” Despite the poll results, users in the comment section claim the data could be wrong. One user said, “As a Gen Z person, this article is actually just like, wrong? I use the thumbs up and down all the time. Nobody I know gives a damn about what emoji is being used beyond the actual meaning the emoji is meant to convey.” They finished by adding, “I have never heard of any of these weird arbitrary standards, and I highly doubt anyone I know has either.” As the war over the real meaning of the thumbs-up emoji rages on, there may just not be an end in sight.

Why is TikTok asking for passcode on iPhone? Users confused by password verification – Dexerto
Why is TikTok asking for passcode on iPhone? Users confused by password verification TikTokMany TikTok users have been left baffled by the sudden requirement to enter their passcode on iPhone to access the application. If you are among them, here’s what we know about the issue. TikTok, like most other apps on your iPhone or Android, should simply launch immediately without any checks or login required. Typically, the only applications that require any kind of passcode or ID verification are banking apps, so users were surprised to see the video and streaming app demanding their passcode when launching. Although this isn’t a brand-new issue on TikTok, it seems to have begun happening more frequently in December 2023 – so, here’s what we know. TikTok passcode issue on iPhones Starting around the end of November 2023, social media users have been sharing their issues with a passcode being required for TikTok. “TikTok has been asking me for my phone password every time I open it,” one user explained on Reddit, and many others confirmed they had a similar problem. “Same thing is happening to me and I’m trying to figure out how to stop it,” one said. Unfortunately, TikTok itself does not specify why it is prompting for the passcode, but there are some potential reasons. One possibility is that you are in Restricted Mode. TikTok restricted mode makes it so that a passcode is required to view certain content, or that some content is just not visible at all. To switch restricted mode off, you need to go into your TikTok privacy settings, and under the “content preferences section, you should see the restricted mode option. You will need to enter your passcode to turn restricted mode off as well. iPhone Passcode could be bugged on TikTok But, not for the first time, some users experience a bug with restricted mode that means it simply will not switch off. Strangely, by simply pressing ‘cancel’ at the bottom right when the passcode is required, you can skip the passcode entry on TikTok. This certainly indicates that it may simply be a bug for some users. You could also try updating your TikTok application, to make sure you have the latest version. But, until TikTok issues a fix for the bug, you may just have to get used to pressing cancel when opening the app.

Why is the BTS Army feuding with KSI over his new album? – Dexerto
Why is the BTS Army feuding with KSI over his new album? KSI, YouTube / Wikimedia CommonsYouTube star and music artist KSI has incurred the wrath of K-pop boyband BTS’ fanbase, who seemingly took offense to his pleas for listeners to stop streaming his new album, Dissimulation. KSI’s first-ever solo album, Dissimulation, dropped on May 22, featuring a slew of tracks with features from top names in the rap industry, including the Migos’ Offset, Trippie Redd and even Jeremih. As a potential reward for getting his album to the top spot on the charts, KSI promised that he would shave his head completely bald — but it seems that the YouTuber is attempting to walk back his words, seemingly distraught at the thought of having to shave off three years of hair growth. KSI’s Dissimulation wasn’t the only one vying for first place, by far, with BTS’ Suga dropping a solo mixed tape and The 1975 having also released a new album; but once KSI’s threat of shaving his head went viral on Twitter, he saw his music overtake both groups in a shocking development. Panicked, the YouTuber took to social media to beg BTS’ fanbase (who call themselves the ‘Army’) to push Suga’s mixtape to the top — a feat he may have achieved with a unique strategy. “This is getting long now,” KSI Tweeted. “You 1975 and Agust D fans ain’t real fans smh. Please rile up your army and do better please.” This is getting long now. You 1975 and Agust D fans aint real fans smh. Please rile up your army and do better please. pic.twitter.com/KYekWX3IOd — ksi (@KSI) May 25, 2020 Needless to say, the British music star was instantly met with backlash from the Army, who were quick to roast him for his previous ‘New Age’ live tour. “When you sell out Wembley stadium twice, then you can chat about ‘real fans,’” one BTS fan wrote. “Take a seat.” when you sell out wembley stadium twice, then u can chat about ‘real fans’ take a seat ? — ???⁷ ? (@peachychjm) May 25, 2020 “Can this KSI s**t stop using BTS for clout?” another chimed in. “Like just go bald already no one gives a f**k, at least we don’t stop posting about Yoongi.” Can this ksi shit stop using BTS for clout? Like just go bald already no one gives a fck, atleast we don’t stop posting about yoongi — ??SIDRA⁷⟭⟬ ᴬᴰ² AGUST D (@SexyBangtannn) May 25, 2020 KSI has since uploaded a video to Twitter discussing the situation, seemingly legitimately distressed about potentially losing his hair over his musical success. For now, though, it seems like KSI is in the clear — but the war rages on between BTS stans and KSI’s own fans and friends, who seem bent on him making good on his promise that has now become a meme across the YouTube scene.

Why is #StopJayStation trending on Twitter? KEEMSTAR & more react – Dexerto
Why is #StopJayStation trending on Twitter? KEEMSTAR & more react ImJayStation, YouTubeAlthough YouTuber “ImJayStation” is widely known for his controversial videos, a January 2020 upload is sending the internet into a rage, after he claimed that his girlfriend had died in a car accident. JayStation has a history of problematic content, sparking backlash almost like clockwork after the deaths of major celebrity figures or online entertainers. Boasting videos like “Etika Ouija Board Challenge at 3 AM (Gone Wrong)” and “MAC MILLER SPIRIT BOX CHALLENGE AT 3AM,” the YouTuber falsifies conversations with the recently deceased as a means to capitalize on the attention surrounding their (often tragic) deaths. However, a recent upload from the YouTuber, who currently boasts over 5 million subscribers, has spurred outrage across the internet, after he claimed his girlfriend Alexia had been struck by a drunk driver during a night on the road. In wake of the backlash, one major YouTuber is making it his business to stop JayStation’s antics once and for all: Drama Alert’s Daniel “KEEMSTAR” Keem, who urged fans to spread the hashtag “StopJayStation” across social media. Mere hours later, the hashtag has spread like wildfire across Twitter in the United States, with critics begging YouTube to take action against the divisive star. “Friendly reminder that this chump made this disrespectful trash,” one user wrote, attaching a photo of JayStation’s video “calling” YouTuber Desmond “Etika” Amofah shortly after news of his passing was released. JayStation even went on to challenge KEEMSTAR to a boxing match, releasing a new hashtag in hopes of settling things by force: #FightJayStation. According to Alexia, JayStation had been verbally and physically abusive toward her, and was even arrested on these allegations, although he has since been released from police custody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQnQR-zyNq4&feature=emb_title With the entire debacle gaining steam across the online space, viewers can only wait for YouTube to take a stand on an issue that raises questions about what kind of content is acceptable on the platform.

Why is #ThanksJoeRogan trending? Twitter clashes over Spotify host – Dexerto
Why is #ThanksJoeRogan trending? Twitter clashes over Spotify host Joe Rogan Experience / TwitterJoe Rogan started trending on Twitter after supporters and critics clashed over the popular host and his show “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Rogan has been both praised and criticized for the people he brings on the podcast to discuss a multitude of topics. This has landed the host in hot water in the past, with some JRE episodes even being cut from Spotify after he moved platforms. This division started to give the #ThanksJoeRogan tag traction on January 15 as praise from fans commending Rogan’s podcast were met with detractors condemning the show. #ThanksJoeRogan trends from supports The #ThanksJoeRogan tag started to fly on Twitter after people praised the podcast as a driver of important conversations. “I’ve followed Joe Rogan for about 5 years,” one user said. “I don’t listen often, but I like that he has health people on from all different perspectives. #ThanksJoeRogan for being real, and for giving a voice to so many!” #ThanksJoeRogan for calling out the expression of totalitarian impulses.https://t.co/x22CWxXMZE — Robert ₿reedlove (@Breedlove22) January 15, 2022 #ThanksJoeRogan for interviewing a variety of people, some I never knew I’d even be interested in hearing speak, and for asking real questions that don’t try to frame a narrative. #ThankYouSpotify for providing a great platform with ample content. pic.twitter.com/403yTWs9mb — Ross Martin (@PeaceLoveKing) January 15, 2022 Aside from medical topics, Rogan engages in topical discussions with stakeholders in their respective fields. Why is #RIPDream trending? YouTuber Dream death hoax goes viral – Dexerto
Why is #RIPDream trending? YouTuber Dream death hoax goes viral Dream/TwitterDespite still being very much alive, #RIPDream went viral and began trending on January 4 after fans and haters of the Minecraft YouTuber Dream started clashing on Twitter. Here’s everything you need to know, including how he responded. After gaining over 14 million subscribers over the past year, it’s safe to say that Dream is one of the most popular Minecraft YouTubers right now. Despite this popularity, he has amassed a large amount of haters as well, especially after his cheating scandal hit the internet a few weeks back. On January 4, both his haters and his fans started going at it on Twitter and even caused the hashtag #RIPDream to trend, causing some confusion about whether or not the YouTuber was okay. Amidst the confusion, #WeLoveYouDream also began making the rounds online. #ripdream forever in our hearts ❤️ fly high angel 👼🏼 pic.twitter.com/cyOgbKlUoa — B (@HONKBIRD) January 4, 2021 Damn they really went past tense on dream’s wikipedia page already #RIPDream pic.twitter.com/UtjefSuV3k — heistworm (@heistworm) January 4, 2021 https://twitter.com/defnoodles/status/1346200658123210752?s=20 Fortunately, Dream is safe and sound, meaning the original hashtag is simply just a “joke” going around right now, but that hasn’t stopped some from adding to it. Apparently, there have even been reports that some of his haters took the joke so far that they edited his Wikipedia page, lending more credence to the rumor that something had happened to the YouTuber. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Twitter war if the subject of said war didn’t respond in some way. A few hours after the dust had settled, Dream himself took to his account to write “can’t believe Dream died”, quickly followed by another tweet saying “(this is sarcastic),” presumably to stop any more speculation about the subject before the original even had a chance to take off. The YouTuber also took to his personal account, jokingly stating that he had been killed by sapnap, another YouTuber and a friend of his. Of course, both of these tweets are a bit of a non-statement but sometimes it’s better to not respond to the madness than it is to actually reply and given the YouTuber’s comedic nature, it’s only fitting that he respond in such a way.

Why is #RIPGabbieHanna trending? YouTuber death hoax scares fans – Dexerto
Why is #RIPGabbieHanna trending? YouTuber death hoax scares fans Instagram: gabbiehannaSome fans were alarmed after a Twitter hashtag implying YouTuber Gabbie Hanna had passed away picked up traction, but it appears to have just been started as a ‘joke.’ Gabbie Hanna rose to popularity on short-form video app Vine under the name ‘The Gabbie Show,’ and after it shut down her primary platform became YouTube, where she now has over 5.6 million subscribers. The creator has released several songs, as music is a big focus of her career, but she has also released two poetry books. However, particularly over the past year, Gabbie has become the subject of a great deal of controversy online, especially on TikTok, with people making memes out of many of her videos. Gabbie’s fans were confused when the hashtag #RIPGabbieHanna started gaining traction on May 31, wondering if something really could have happened to the social media star. However, it quickly became apparent that the star hadn’t actually passed away, with the hashtag full of memes referencing some of her most viral videos, or using pictures of other celebrities instead of her to draw comparisons between them. https://twitter.com/sheIbystoni/status/1399145969476902921 https://twitter.com/zuleuphoria/status/1399149830874800132 Gabbie hanna logging in to write her thinkpiece on some random kpop stans deciding to do a #RIPGabbieHanna out of boredom https://t.co/vrbxw9bGNW — erin (@ireneslawyer) May 30, 2021 https://twitter.com/tilbatkamahe/status/1399171474414505986 It seems as though Gabbie is very much alive, having been active on social media throughout when these tweets were being posted. But the YouTuber hasn’t responded to the hashtag about her, and it’s not clear whether she intends to. Under a thread by commentary YouTuber Def Noodles, many disagreed with the hoax hashtag, saying “this is not okay” and calling it “gross.” Gabbie isn’t the only creator that’s had similar hashtags and death rumors circulated about her. Minecraft YouTuber Dream faced a similar situation back in January when #RIPDream went viral on Twitter.

Why is PewDiePie taking a break from YouTube? – Dexerto
Why is PewDiePie taking a break from YouTube? YouTube megastar Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg revealed that he would be taking a break from the platform in 2020 but why is he doing so? Here’s what you need to know. When it comes to solo content creators on YouTube, there is no bigger name than PewDiePie. The Swede, who has been uploading videos to the platform since late 2010, is marching towards 110 million subscribers in what would be another remarkable milestone for himself. However, despite his sustained success, Kjellberg has found himself aiming to take a bit of time away from the platform – even though he isn’t making a permanent exit or refocusing himself on something a little bit different. What is PewDiePie’s reason for taking a break? So, why is he taking a break? Quite simply, Pewds explained that he wanted to hit the pause button on his YouTube career because of tiredness. “I am tired. I’m feeling very tired. I don’t know if you can tell,” he said, after making his announcement during his December 14th upload of ‘YouTube’s New Update has a BIG FLAW’. The initial message, he noted, was just a “heads up” to his fans and said that he would “be away for a little while,” and would “explain that later.” As of writing, the Swede has yet to do so, leaving fans with the news that he will, at some point, step away from regular uploads and take some time for himself. As the YouTuber said himself, he has been uploading videos to YouTube for the best part of the last decade and that it would be “nice to not have YouTube in my brain” at some point. He nearly took a break earlier in the year, August to be specific, and that may have been understandable considering the hard work he’d put in during the battle with T-Series to reach 100 million subscribers. Yet, he soldiered on and managed to hit a new boom in growth through Minecraft, his ever-popular meme review series, and even bringing back the ‘canceled’ Pew News on occasion. When will PewDiePie return to YouTube? Pewds’ return to YouTube will be determined by when he actually takes his well-earned and much-deserved break. All we know, as of now, is that it will be some point in the new year with a proper piece of confirmation to come. While he’s taken small breaks for holidays and other things in the past and had scheduled videos lined up, that probably won’t be the case this time around. Despite that, though, plenty of fans will forgive him if he doesn’t decide to produce pre-made content at that time. Either way, his return will be highly anticipated and it won’t matter if he takes two weeks or two months off. What is PewDiePie doing in 2020? 2019 was a massive year for the Swede on his channel, perhaps even his biggest. The start of the year saw the culmination of his subscriber war with T-Series, which, despite ‘losing’, gave him a massive boost of subscribers. But, in his personal life, 2020 might be even bigger. In addition to planning a break away from YouTube, PewDiePie also revealed that he will be moving to Japan with wife Marzia and their two pugs, Edgar and Maya. Leaving the United Kingdom, where the couple have lived for a number of years, will be a massive change to his life, and something that will undoubtedly be reflected in his content.

Why is PewDiePie trending? YouTuber’s Spotify playlist leaks – Dexerto
Why is PewDiePie trending? YouTuber’s Spotify playlist leaks PewDiePie YouTube / Twitter / Spotify[jwplayer h3XPfMqQ] YouTube star Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg’s Spotify playlist has gone public, and it’s got everyone talking, so much so that he’s even trending on Twitter. The YouTube superstar hit trending this week after his Spotify listening habits were leaked. It was revealed he listens to artists like Kero Kero Bonito, Rina Sawayama, Slayyyter, Rico Nasty, SOPHIE, Arca, and more. Pewd’s ‘recently played artists’ was soon being discussed across Twitter, which sparked the “PewDiePie” trend on the social media platform. https://twitter.com/mivessimp/status/1290662122448461826 Some praised him for his musical tastes, which seem relatively niche. Some were surprised to see such an eclectic taste on show. There were also some fans of this music that didn’t actually want PewDiePie associated with it. “He ain’t getting flamed for his music taste, he’s getting praised for it,” one user wrote. “But a lot of the Hyperpop community just doesnt f**k with PewDiePie for his past and basically doesn’t want him to listen to their music or music in the Hyperpop genre.” https://twitter.com/inthemudhut/status/1290759417185607681 For the most part, Twitter crowds are impressed with PewDiePie’s musical interests, however. The sounds are not only unique – but the representation of oft-underrepresented communities. Artists that identify as bisexual, pansexual, trans, gender-neutral, for example, were all in PewDiePie’s listening habits. PewDiePie is a magnet for public discourse regardless of the topic, and his Spotify listening habits have sparked yet another conversation revolving around him. He may not even be aware of this discussion though, as he actually deleted his Twitter account last year. His YouTube channel is still his primary creative output, where he now boasts 106 million subscribers.

Why is my TikTok under review? Video posting error frustrates users – Dexerto
Why is my TikTok under review? Video posting error frustrates users TikTok/Twitter: lilpapivoniIf you’re a frequent TikTok user and like to post videos on the platform, chances are you might have had one of them up for review at some point. But why does this happen? Here’s everything you need to know. If you’re serious about TikTok and picking up a following, uploading a video can take some serious time and effort. You’ve got to make sure everything from the timing of the music to the background is spot on before letting it fly. Of course, things can and do go wrong at times, as not everything is under your control. TikTok errors are rare but when they pop up, they can be annoying to deal with. Recently, many users have found that their posts are being reviewed more regularly by TikTok, causing uploads to become slow or not happen at all. Though, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a clear way to fix it. TikTok is under review error message If you’re being hit with the TikTok under review message, it usually means that something has been flagged – typically violence in the video, blood, or misinformation on a sensitive topic. However, reviews sometimes happen on videos that shouldn’t trip these checks. Even Charli D’Amelio experienced these issues back in February 2022, alongside plenty of other people who claimed their videos were unfairly being put under review by TikTok. It’s not clear why exactly this problem crops up every now and then, and may even be attributed to a bug. You can try restarting the TikTok app to see if the message goes away and your video returns to normal, however, if the issue lies with TikTok itself, you may just have to wait until they fix it internally. Please note that if you delete the app, it will also delete all of your drafts. My TikTok has been under review for a couple hours now, anyone else having this problem? — Big E (@Big_E) October 18, 2022 Apparently TikTok has a massive glitch going on and everyone’s videos are under review. I tried posting a story and several videos and all are under review with no reason. After researching, it appears it’s happening to everyone. TikTok has not released a statement. Ugh 😑 — 🌙✨𝑫𝒓.𝑲𓂀✨🍀 (@LoveKipani) October 19, 2022 Video is being processed TikTok error Similarly, the ‘video is being processed’ error has popped up around the same time as the ‘TikTok under review’ message, causing frustration for some. It’s pretty much the same thing, where either your video or the TikTok app is bugged out and posts aren’t uploading. This can be because your speed is preventing it from being uploaded or the TikTok servers are struggling. Again, there isn’t a real fix for the problem but you can try restarting your app to see if that gives it a nudge. If not, you’ll just have to wait and see if the post finally uploads. If it doesn’t, just try again. If the errors persist, you may have to contact TikTok support to see if something is affecting your account. Though that should be an incredibly rare situation and your videos should post without issue before long.

Why is Mikayla Nogueira under fire again? TikToker’s foundation review goes viral – Dexerto
Why is Mikayla Nogueira under fire again? TikToker’s foundation review goes viral TikTok: mikaylanogueiraBeauty guru Mikayla Nogueira is facing criticism yet again after viewers took issue with another one of her makeup product reviews. Mikayla Nogueira is one of the most prominent makeup artists on TikTok, where she boasts over 14 million followers. While Nogueira’s humorous videos have earned her a solid following over the years, the creator has come under fire in recent weeks due to her reviews of certain beauty products. In January, the influencer sparked backlash for her review of L’Oreal’s Telescopic Lift mascara. Many viewers were convinced she was wearing false eyelashes, noticing a major difference between her application of the product and her end result. Mikayla Nogueira under fire for SuperStay foundation review Now, she’s facing the ire of her viewers once again after they discovered an older review of hers, where she advertised Maybelline’s SuperStay powder foundation that was uploaded on January 19. Critics claim that Nogueira’s foundation looks starkly different from cut to cut, with some arguing that she must have applied a layer of liquid foundation underneath it to achieve the extreme coverage she had in the video. Still others point to reviews from other content creators who do not exhibit the same results as hers in the clip, which has since garnered over 22 million views. “I bought it and it does not cover like that,” one user said of Nogueira’s review. “You must be using a ton.” “Hmmm it doesn’t really look like the same product at the end,” another said. “I bought this and NO WAY ABSOLUTELY NOT does it go on like you show!” yet another claimed. “You are definitely doing something more! Now I feel like I wasted 16 dollars.” Thus far, Nogueira hasn’t responded to the outrage publicly — although she did poke fun at the backlash in the very beginning of the first video she posted following the kerfuffle following #mascaragate. This is far from the first time that Nogueira has come under fire, either; in 2022, she also faced criticism for implying her job as an influencer was difficult — something that earned her quite a few comments online.

Why is Montana banning TikTok? – Dexerto
Why is Montana banning TikTok? PIXABAYMontana has become the very first state to pass laws that stop citizens from accessing TikTok. While the bill still needs to be signed into law to become active, it represents a major step in skepticism towards TikTok in the United States, and several other states could follow the trend. The SB 419 bill would make it illegal for app stores to make TikTok available to users in Montana, with harsh fines of up to $10,000 on companies who try to get around this law. In their reasoning, Montana lawmakers cited TikTok’s owner, Chinese tech company ByteDance, as one of the reasons for the ban. The allegations of data misuse and surveillance were described as a “national security risk”. Additionally, lawmakers described TikTok’s negative social impact, with several politicians arguing that TikTok encouraged “dangerous activities” and harmful trends. These included “throwing objects at moving automobiles” or “lighting a mirror on fire and then attempting to extinguish it using only one’s body parts”. The law must be signed by Montana Governor Greg Gianforte to come into action. TikTok responds to Montana ban The company has indicated that it would challenge the ban in courts if it were passed. A spokesperson for TikTok said: “The bill’s champions have admitted that they have no feasible plan for operationalizing this attempt to censor American voices and that the bill’s constitutionality will be decided by the courts”. “We will continue to fight for TikTok users and creators in Montana whose livelihoods and First Amendment rights are threatened by this egregious government overreach.” Which states have banned TikTok? Currently, Montana is the only state that has passed any laws restricting access to TikTok. However, after the hearings in Congress with TikTok’s CEO, other states could follow in Montana’s footsteps. President Biden has already said that ByteDance needs to divest its ownership of TikTok if it wants to avoid a federal-level ban. With no sign of backing down, this could be the start of a nationwide movement against the app in state legislatures. To read more about what a national ban on TikTok would look like, check out our coverage here.

Why is #JoshFight trending on Twitter? Hundreds gather to fight over who is the ‘one true Josh’ – Dexerto
Why is #JoshFight trending on Twitter? Hundreds gather to fight over who is the ‘one true Josh’ Twitter, @YousefKLKNThere are a lot of people named Josh in the world. Some would argue that there are too many, so hundreds of Joshes have gathered to fight each other over who the real Josh is, and Twitter is passionately covering the action. Random Google searches suggest that there are around a million people named Joshua in the United States of America. But census workers will have their work cut out for them after today, as there should only be one ‘true’ Josh left. It started with a Facebook group message to all of the Josh Swains around, but it has ended in a five-year-old earning the Josh name all to himself. On April 24, a huge crowd of people with one thing in common — their name — amassed at the following coordinates: 40.8223287, -96.7982002 (also known as Middle Creek, Nebraska, for the non-cartographers around). With all Joshes meeting to brawl over retaining their signatures, social media lit ablaze with #JoshFight hashtags and videos of the action. From Chewbacca cosplays and pool noodles to furries and rock, paper, scissors matchups, the Josh Fight seemed to have it all. While the battle for a name had humble beginnings and started solely with those possessing the full “Josh Swain” moniker, it quickly outgrew those roots. Within minutes, Middle Creek was filled with Josh upon Josh, eager to duel over some letters. Eventually, after introductions (easy ones, we presume) and some rock, paper, scissors contests — it was time for the main event: an all-out brawl. And “all-out” is probably the only way you can describe it. The #JoshFight has begun. This is absolute mayhem! pic.twitter.com/1VQic21Dvt — Yousef Nasser (@YousefNasserTV) April 24, 2021 Chewbacca, a Jedi, Spider-Man — wait, no, two Spider-Men — a Roman gladiator, a shirtless, sharpied man, a guy in a wolf t-shirt…every type of Josh imaginable seemed to be involved in the legendary brawl. But only one Josh could reign supreme, and the crowd was happy to see it. At the end of it all, the last remaining Josh was “Little Josh,” who is five years old and full of courage. The rock/paper/scissors battle was followed by a pool-noodle battle for everyone named Josh. A five-year-old Josh from Lincoln was crowned champion.@joshswainaz #LittleJosh #JoshFight pic.twitter.com/oJxhRoBBFz — Michael Shively (@mshivelyNCN) April 24, 2021 With chants of “Little Josh,” a crown, and a championship belt, the tiniest Josh earned the highest praise and was asked for comment after his impressive performance. With the megaphone to his mouth, Little Josh simply proclaimed: “[something, something] fight anyone.” You hear that, non-Joshes? Little Josh’s rage is not restrained to just those sharing his name. Who knows which group he will take down next.

Why is Jackie Chan going viral? Fake clip with daughter fools everyone – Dexerto
Why is Jackie Chan going viral? Fake clip with daughter fools everyone Twitter: @TegadeyforyouClip featuring Jackie Chan and his daughter watching his stunts together has gone viral and moved many who saw it to tears. The only problem is that the interaction is a scene from a movie and the woman is not Jackie Chan’s daughter. It feels like with each passing day it becomes increasingly difficult to tell what’s real and what’s not. Just in June of 2023, there were multiple stories of people falling for scams, marketing schemes, and pranks. One of those was a stunt pulled by Logan Paul and KSI, who admitted that fans throwing Prime bottles at them was faked for marketing purposes. TikTok troll Dan Hentschel has also gone viral for tricking people into thinking he poisoned his girlfriend with fake mugshots and articles. And now a post from Tegadeyforyou’s Twitter account has accumulated a staggering 51.5 mil views for posting a misleading video of Jackie Chan and his daughter. Twitter reacts to Jakie Chan’s fake clip with his daughter The Tweet reads: “Jackie Chan and his daughter crying while watching some of his old movie scenes is the most wholesome thing you’ll watch today. Thanks for our childhood legend.” It seems to have many people believing the clip is just a recording of Jackie Chan speaking with his daughter. However, Twitter’s Community Notes feature offers up additional context here, revealing that it’s a clip from a Jackie Chan movie edited together with a highlight reel. “Jackie Chan has been estranged from his daughter for decades, allegedly due to his affair with her mother and discomfort with her sexuality. The video is from a movie wherein Jackie Chan, playing a stuntman, watches his old movies with his daughter – the actress Liu Haocun,” reads the community note. Jackie Chan is known for his decades-long acting career and aptitude for doing his own stunts, attempting tricks that have seen him breaking bones and injuring himself all for the sake of getting the shot. However, when this tweet went viral, some were quick to point out the actor’s past. “Why is no one pointing out that this isn’t his daughter and he is a terrible father?” one Twitter user asked before the Community Notes were posted. Despite the notes clarifying that the Tweet is fake, it’s still gaining views and has already eclipsed 50 million views and has almost 400k likes.

With 15 million views on the social media platform, the evasive “ghost poop” is currently capturing the minds and hearts of TikTokers all across the platform But what exactly is ghost poop, and why should everyone be hoping to experience the phenomenon on the regular? In a TikTok with more than 7.5 million views, naturopathic doctor Janine Bowering explains that ghost poop is a sign that “you may just be the healthiest person on the planet”. Why is everyone freaking out and deleting My AI on Snapchat? Snapchat’s scary AI story post explained – Dexerto
Why is everyone freaking out and deleting My AI on Snapchat? Snapchat’s scary AI story post explained SnapchatSnapchat users are becoming increasingly concerned since the release of the ‘My AI’ feature, after the app’s artificial intelligence bot posted a “scary” image to users’ story all by itself. Snapchat’s My AI feature was made accessible to all users on April 19 after previously only being made exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers. The artificial intelligence feature is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, which allows users to talk to an AI chatbot as well as send photos and receive AI-generated images in return. Users have since reported that My AI uploaded an image to its own story. Many users have been left freaked out after discovering this was captured and posted without their consent. Many have since gone to social media outlets to post screenshots and provide their reactions, but what exactly happened? What did My AI post on Snapchat? On August 15, posts flooded in sharing their own experiences and screenshots showing what had been posted to their My AI’s story on Snapchat. The same image was posted to every bot’s story, which featured a two-toned generated image that various people mistook for a photo of their own actual ceiling, making it even scarier. How have people reacted? A wave of mass panic followed with many posting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying that they were “freaked out” by the events. This led to numerous people asking questions to others, if anybody else had experienced the same thing and what it was. Other users reported that it wasn’t just the story being posted automatically, but the AI bot has also been malfunctioning and repeating messages with illogical responses. When the chatbot was questioned in regards to the story it replied, “I haven’t posted anything on my story recently”, the artificial intelligence said being totally oblivious to the story posting. The mysterious event continued with tweet after tweet into the night leaving everybody confused and worried, still unsure what or why the image was posted. Snapchat responds to My AI confusion After users repeatedly contacted Snapchat support to address their concerns, the social media giant has confirmed that the artificial intelligence feature posting to people’s stories was a: “temporary outage that’s now resolved.” According to TechCrunch a Snapchat spokesperson has also confirmed that their AI feature currently does not have the capability to post to its own story on Snap. Despite the issue being resolved and it being just a bug, tonnes of people are still worried about what future impacts My AI could have on their accounts. This has led to a surge of people rushing to find out how to delete My AI on Snapchat.

Why is Emma Chamberlain’s ‘uncomfortable’ laugh going viral on TikTok? YouTube: emma chamberlainYouTube star and fashion icon Emma Chamberlain is going viral on TikTok as users are obsessed with her ‘uncomfortable laugh.’ Emma Chamberlain officially returned to making content in June 2022 after a six-month hiatus, sharing her travels with viewers and sending fans into a tizzy. However, it isn’t her new videos that are taking TikTok by storm; instead, it’s a viral moment from one of her 2021 vlogs, back when she notably dyed her hair from blonde to a deep, chestnut brown. During the video, Chamberlain contemplates whether or not her hair change will “affect [her] love life” before letting out an awkward laugh, which she emphasized with some humorous echoes during editing for maximum awkwardness. (Topic begins at 5:25) TikTokers have begun using her giggle as a sound on the app, mainly to highlight an awkward or otherwise unpleasant moment — like this TikToker, who suddenly realized that “suppressing your emotions can lead to memory loss.” Click here if TikTok fails to load. Their video has garnered over 6.7 million plays at the time of writing, and viewers just can’t get enough of how genius it was to use Emma’s humorous laugh for an otherwise serious realization. Why is Dua Lipa being “canceled” on Twitter? – Dexerto
Why is Dua Lipa being “canceled” on Twitter? Instagram: dualipaIn the latest string of celebrities being “canceled” on social media, pop star Dua Lipa has come under fire for what seems to be a fairly innocent trip to a Los Angeles strip club post-Grammys. The “Don’t Start Now” singer was out partying with some of her celebrity friends and generally having a good time, despite not taking home any trophies from the prestigious Grammy Awards show. As seen on Lizzo’s Instagram story, the Brit was making the most of her time across the pond by paying a visit to a strip club and imparting some of her cash on the dancers, and everyone involved was clearly enjoying themselves. However, the video from Instagram was soon picked up by fans (and non-fans alike), with some claiming that Lupa’s attendance at the club was anti-feminist in several now-deleted tweets, and before long the hashtag #DuaLipaIsOverParty was trending on Twitter. It didn’t take long for the outpouring of support to drown out the tweets attempting to ‘cancel’ Dua Lipa, and the star was backed up by thousands of fans who made it clear that supporting strippers is not anti-feminist, but a feminist choice in itself. Even several Twitter users, who exclaimed that they’re not fans at all, were supporting the artist, arguing that you don’t have to be a fan to realize there’s nothing wrong with she did. https://twitter.com/ixgguk/status/1222091417297637376?s=20 The hashtag was very quickly used to show solidarity and support with the UK native, who has yet to comment on the trending phrase or her actions, though it’s possible she doesn’t feel it deems a response at all. One user said that “if you’re a REAL feminist you would support sex workers and especially OTHER WOMEN THAT SUPPORT THEM TOO,” clearly dismayed at those speaking against it. I’m if ur a REAL feminist u would support sex workers and especially OTHER WOMEN THAT SUPPORT THEM TOO I- what are y’all not getting #dualipaisoverparty pic.twitter.com/CeZZiTqLor — Susie 𓆩♡𓆪 (@susiequpid) January 28, 2020 Meanwhile, ‘cruel nox’ took the opportunity to plug Dua’s latest releases, saying that the now-viral video “radiates big d*ck energy.” https://twitter.com/cruelnox/status/1222139588032049153?s=20 Many users also used a popular Taylor Swift lyric to explain some of the hate, with the star saying in 2019’s ‘The Man’ that “if I was out flashing my dollars I’d be a b**ch, not a baller,” which was used to target the double standards between men and women in the industry. Whether Dua Lipa really comes under fire for this remains to be seen, but right now, it seems she has far more support than the trending hashtag would let on.

Why is #DolanTwinsIsOverParty trending on Twitter? – Dexerto
Why is #DolanTwinsIsOverParty trending on Twitter? Dolan Twins, YouTubeThe Dolan Twins, Ethan and Grayson, became the targets of Twitter’s next ‘is over party’ after a five-year-old video surfaced of them explaining their experiences in high school, where they were labeled with homophobic slurs. Every now and again, a brand new ‘is over party’ hashtag will trend every so often on Twitter, leaving fans of the person or group involved pretty confused as they try and find the reason behind the trend. More often than not, these hashtags can be a bit of a joke from a fanbase, but other times, there are serious reasons for why a certain message is being spread. On June 19, the Dolan Twins became the latest targets. The twins, who have 11 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, became the targets of the ‘is over party’ hashtag when an old video of theirs resurfaced where they were talking about their experiences in high school. In the video, Grayson explained that people who posted messages online about the pair commonly used a homophobic slur in attempts to mock them. While in the video the YouTuber said the word, it was beeped out. This video has since been used in relation to the hashtag, with many Dolan Twins fans stepping up to defend them, claiming that it has been taken out of context. it was five years ago and yes grayson should have never said it at all but he was quoting what was being said about them, not calling anyone that or using it to offend people — r | CHECK PINNED (@grqnte) June 19, 2020 As a result of fans trying to spread their message about the hashtag being misleading, the hashtag gets more uses and therefore continues to trend longer and becomes seen by more and more Twitter users. Plenty of Dolan Twins fans have also accused K POP fans of latching on to the hashtag in order to keep it trending, with them posting tweets that don’t actually line up with the trend. https://twitter.com/shortfloridian/status/1273837047506251776 apparently one of them said the f-slur 5 years? idk can’t find the video all i see is fam cams #DolanTwinsIsOverParty and shouldn’t it be #dolantwinsareoverparty instead? so many questions pic.twitter.com/DR7xDgAvii — alyssa⸆⸉ (@missalyswift) June 19, 2020 literally-anything is over party *trends* Kpop stans: pic.twitter.com/nfzqOoYHXJ — ThatMemeDealer (@ThatMemeDealer) June 19, 2020 As of writing, neither of the Dolan Twins have spoken out about the trend, though new tweets from all corners of Twitter continue to be posted with the hashtag attached. The singer-songwriter teased the song in a viral video shared on the social media app earlier this month, which featured the lyrics: “Finally 29, funny, just like you were at the time, thought it was a teenage dream, just a fantasy, but was it yours or was it mine? 17, 29.” The video garnered almost 4 million views, and fans speculated the song was about the pop star’s six-year relationship with Wilmer Valderrama. Why is Corpse Husband so successful? – Dexerto
Why is Corpse Husband so successful? YouTube: Corpse HusbandCorpse Husband found unprecedented success in 2020, and his cult-like following shows no signs of slowing down in 2021. But what has made him so successful? Corpse Husband is a YouTuber who experienced a rather abrupt surge in popularity in the last year, accumulating a wave of new fans after jumping on the Among Us hype, scoring views in the many millions for both his old and new content. He started YouTube in 2015 and focused primarily on narrating spooky stories online with his mesmerizingly deep voice, though notably has not yet revealed his face. Since then he has begun streaming, releasing music, and posting on most social media platforms. At the time of writing, he has more than 7 million YouTube subscribers, having grown from just 1.4 million in September 2020. In the space of roughly 2 months, he gained 3 million followers on Instagram, and 2.6 million Twitter followers. His single “E-girls are ruining my life” now has more than 93 million streams on Spotify. It seems that his viewers will go to extraordinary lengths to show their loyalty. One fan got a tattoo of a strand of the YouTuber’s hair, another got a tattoo of the sound wave of him breathing after he posted an audio clip on Twitter. His viewers even won out against possibly the biggest fandom on the planet when fans of Corpse Husband and BTS tried to see who could ‘ratio’ Mr Beast’s tweet the hardest, with Corpse winning by a tiny margin and securing $10,000 for charity. Why is he so successful? To begin with, Corpse Husband’s anonymity allows him to stand out among the rest. The mystery as to what his face might look like has become almost a game to his fellow creators and his fans alike. Some try to do the detective work and figure out who he is, others make predictions or draw artistic interpretations of what they imagine him to look like. Corpse has intermittently revealed small details about himself, and even the tiniest piece of information is lapped up by fans. In the past Corpse has done a hand reveal, shown a strand of his hair, and even shown a picture of his lower half on Instagram showing off jewelry, painted nails, and veiny arms. He isn’t the only social media star to have proved this method works. Minecraft streamer Dream has also capitalized on anonymity and gradually reveals certain aspects of himself. This notably blew up when he trended on New Years Day after doing a ‘neck reveal’ in MrBeast’s 2021 YouTube rewind. Read More: TikTok adding new features to stop fake news – Of course, one of Corpse Husband’s more unique features is his voice, which is extraordinarily deep and something that a lot of his viewers seem to lust over. The sound of his voice leads to the assumption that his appearance must also be attractive, and something similar to the ‘Eboy’ look that grew popular on TikTok. This only adds to his allure. As Corpse becomes more popular, his cult grows because, as we saw with Charli D’Amelio, popularity breeds even more popularity. As more people find out about the hype, more people will join in. Much to fans’ disappointment, however, if Corpse wants to keep his brand going, he won’t be revealing his face anytime soon. If he does, the magic of the mystery will die, and the game will be over.

Why is #DeleteFacebook trending on Twitter? Calls to boycott social media site grow – Dexerto
Why is #DeleteFacebook trending on Twitter? Calls to boycott social media site grow Con Karampelas: UnsplashAs ever on Twitter, the trends reflect what the most people in any area are talking about, and on May 24 Twitter was hit by a storm of #DeleteFacebook tweets, for a variety of reasons. Fake News on Facebook One major issue many have had with the social networking site is the spread of fake news, as people fabricate stories and spread them like wildfire. Many people have accused Facebook of failing to regulate and limit the amount of fake news on the site. The problem has got so bad that the British Government promotes dedicated adverts on social media relating to the spread of fake news, and how difficult it can be to combat. It seems people are simply becoming tired of the amount of misinformation on the site. Facebook has been accused of failing to address fake news. Fake Accounts on Facebook There is also a significant issue with the number of fake accounts on Facebook. In fact, recently Facebook posted an update relating to many aspects of its running, which showed that an estimated 5% of the accounts on the site are fake. This, of course, contributes to the fake news problem simultaneously. The same update stated that they had removed over 3 billion fake accounts in just 6 months, from October 2018 to March of 2019. If you believe news you read on Facebook, facebook is not the problem. #DeleteFacebook pic.twitter.com/VHEWL3ankW — Tyreek Smith (@smith_tyreek) May 25, 2019 Data Protection Issues on Facebook There have long been issues on Facebook surrounding data protection and the unacceptable harvesting of users’ data without their consent. This came to a head in early 2018, when it was revealed that Cambridge Analytica had harvested millions of users’ data in order to alter the political advertisements they saw. This does not appear to be an issue which has been relegated to history, as CNN report that an Israeli company used fake social media accounts in order to influence African elections. Facebook’s CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, was questioned by the US Senate over controversies surrounding Facebook in April 2018. Fake Nancy Pelosi Video Earlier this week (week commencing May 20), an edited video of Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, was sent round Facebook. The clip was slowed down, leading to many people believe that the politician was drunkenly slurring her words, and Facebook has since refused to take it down. It seems that all of these issues have contributed to a number of social media users calling to #DeleteFacebook, as they grow impatient with a number of issues on the social media site. The updates provided by Facebook are in line with their efforts to be more transparent with users since the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Why is Charli D’Amelio getting hate for speaking about her mental health? – Dexerto
Why is Charli D’Amelio getting hate for speaking about her mental health? YouTube: Charli D’AmelioCharli D’Amelio may be TikTok’s most popular content creator, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t without her fair share of troubles – but after speaking out about her mental health issues, critics were quick to pile on the young star instead of showing support. [jwplayer ZXB9LNVP] Charli D’Amelio is the uncontested ‘queen of TikTok,’ boasting over 92 million followers on the viral video app for her catchy dance moves and bubbly personality. However, being internet famous is no cakewalk, as the youngest D’Amelio sibling has received criticism over the past several months due to her highly visible status as a social media superstar. Understandably, this has caused a decent amount of stress in her life, which she spoke out about in an October live stream to her fans, opening up about her struggles with mental health and admitting that she is currently seeing a therapist. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFvR5xADoSp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “I want to be real, and I want people to understand that not every day is the best day, and that’s okay, and being upset and sad all the time on the internet,” she said during the broadcast. “…it’s just trying to find that balance, and also being able to keep some things to myself. I’m definitely doing better.” “These past few weeks have been a little bit more difficult, but that’s something a lot of people have to work through,” she continued. “…obviously, therapy is a huge help. I feel like not a lot of people talk about it, but therapy is extremely important.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CGGpbSMnRsM/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link While one might think Chari would receive support for being so open about her mental health in front of her massive fanbase, it seems that critics are not feeling very sympathetic, and are instead lashing out at the 16-year-old TikTok sensation for what they feel is hypocritical behavior. “That’s good, but can she stop going out while telling people to stay in?” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “Bye lol, she was literally going outside and nobody said anything about it, but when Addison does it, everyone hates on her,” another said, referencing the constant online bullying Addison Rae receives after doing… well, just about anything. It’s true that many commenters have complained of what they feel is “D’Amelio privilege” for quite some time, but it seems that the brunt of the criticism against Charli is now centering on her collaborations and parties with other influencers without socially distancing. Although Charli is far from the only personality receiving such backlash as of late, it definitely seems strange that she’s getting hated on acutely after speaking out about her mental health struggles.

Why is Banks “rebooting” FaZe Clan? Kicked creators, new members, more – Dexerto
Why is Banks “rebooting” FaZe Clan? Kicked creators, new members, more FaZe/BanksFaZe Clan has undergone major changes since FaZe Banks began to kick members out of the org as part of a controversial “rework.” Here’s everything you need to know. Esports and entertainment organization FaZe Clan has been experiencing a major restructuring phase since February 2023 when it dropped roughly 20% of its employees amid struggles as a publicly traded company. Later that year, GameSquare, the owners of Code Red Esports and Complexity Gaming, acquired FaZe Clan and appointed Richard ‘FaZe Banks’ Bengtson as the company’s CEO. Come April 2024, Banks announced that 110 employees had been terminated in an effort to keep the company alive. Later that month, Banks would make his biggest move yet, completely rebooting FaZe by kicking out some of its most loyal and long-term content creators. FaZe Banks explains why multiple members were kicked Banks justified the move in a divisive post on X, claiming that one of the biggest issues facing the org was a unified “vision” and called the rebrand a “second chance.” “FaZe Clan is the next Nike,” he wrote. “It will outlive any one person that wears the name. This is a very important story being told, a movie playing in real time.” What FaZe Clan members were kicked in the reboot? As such, FaZe Blaze, Nate Hill, Kalei, Dirty, Booya, Kitty, JSmooth, H1ghSKy1, Linkzy, Bloo, Agony, Sway, Proze, Nio, Faxuty, Cizzorz, and Rain were all kicked from the org. The news caught many by surprise, with some creators, such as Faxuty, only finding out they were no longer part of FaZe through their Twitch chat. Warzone star Kalei teared up during a live stream while discussing her removal from the group, revealing that she hadn’t made any money as part of FaZe and was sad with how things ended up, calling the situation “not fair.” Many others, however, took their removal in stride, and thanked the org for the memories. Nio, for instance, said it was an “honor to represent the org” during his time with the company. Who is in FaZe Clan after the reboot? Aside from its esports rosters, only fourteen members remained: Adapt, Apex, Banks, Jev, Kaysan, NICKMERCS, Replays, Ronaldo, Rug, Scope, Swagg, Temperrr, Your Rage, Zooma, and Fakie. NICKMERCS, one of FaZe’s longest-serving and biggest stars, claimed to have no idea about the direction the org was taking, but offered his own speculation about the events. “I think that the general census is they just want a fresh start, a clean start, they want to tighten it up and then expand it how they want, which I can understand,” he said. Since the “reboot,” FaZe has added four new members: PlaqueBoy Max, SilkySzn, Jason Ween and Lacy, completing its roster. It’s unclear what more Banks has up his sleeve as part of this revamp of the org and what its future will hold, but it seems unlikely that there will be any surprise roster announcements anytime soon. Following the announcement of Lacy, Banks confirmed that the roster was a “wrap.” He has also remained adamant that the changes were all for the best, remarking that “people will study what we did this week.”

Andrew Tate charges explained: When is the trial and what is he accused of? – Dexerto
Andrew Tate charges explained: When is the trial and what is he accused of? YouTube: On Demand NewsAndrew Tate and his brother Tristan have again been charged with multiple crimes in the UK and Romania, including sexual assault, rape and human trafficking. The trial process is expected to take a significant amount of time, and the brothers must remain in Romania after they were released from jail in 2023. After an additional arrest in March 2024, The brothers are also set to face court in the UK after their trial in Romania. The additional arrest came after police feared that the Tates may be able to use their resources to leave the country as a reason for keeping them in custody. They have since been released and returned to their home in Romania. Andrew Tate permitted to leave Romania On July 5, 2024, Andrew and Tristan Tate won a court battle to remove the restriction from leaving Romania. The pair are now free to leave the country, but can only travel within the European Union, their lawyer confirmed. “We embrace and applaud the decision of the court today,” said Eugene Vidineac, representing the brothers. “Andrew and Tristan are still determined to clear their name and reputation; however, they are grateful to the courts for placing this trust in them. For the brothers, who have faced limitations on their movement for nearly two years, this ruling is a welcome relief – it allows them to resume their lives with greater freedom and peace of mind. “They are now able to travel freely throughout the EU to pursue professional opportunities without restriction.” What was Andrew Tate charged with? Andrew and Tristan Tate were first arrested on December 29, 2022, along with two other suspects while Romanian forces investigated them for alleged sexual assault and exploitation. Now that they’re facing trial, Romanian prosecutors have confirmed the charges being brought forward are human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. Initially arrested as part of an organized crime investigation on December 29, 2022, the Tate brothers spent a number of months in jail before being released at the end of March. Andrew, Tristan, and two female suspects are all still under house arrest, and are being sent to trial on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang, Reuters report. Prosecutors have identified six women claiming to be victims of Andrew Tate. Their case alleges that the Tates seduced women so that they would produce pornographic content on demand, which was used to fuel a webcam business. How long will the trial take? A start date for the trial has not yet been confirmed. Before this, a judge must inspect the case files, and has 60 days to do so. During the wait for the trial, it’s unclear whether the brothers and the two women also accused, will remain under house arrest. In May, A Romanian court ruled that the trial was clear to commence in Romania, but a set date has not been given yet. Once they have finished facing charges in Romania, they will likely also be processed in the UK court system as well. How long was Andrew Tate in jail for? Andrew and Tristan Tate were in prison for three months, having entered Romanian custody in December 22. Their jail time was extended for another month and was protracted several times after bail was repeatedly denied. This means the Tates spent four months in jail. Under Romanian law, suspects can be detained for a maximum of six months while investigations into their actions are ongoing, so the Tates could theoretically have served another two months in jail before being released or being sentenced. They returned to jail for a few hours on March 12, 2024, but were soon released after a judge ruled that they had to face trial for the Romanian charges before being trialed in the UK. Are Andrew and Tristan Tate still under house arrest? As of August 2023, the Tate brothers are no longer under house arrest, after spending two months relegated to their home in Romania. They are free to travel in Romania but they are not allowed to leave the country. On May 19, 2023, the brothers were relegated to their home for two months, with another 30-day extension given by a court decision on that same day. Tate reacted to the news on Twitter, saying he “wasn’t told why” his stay was extended. They received another 30-day extension to their house arrest on July 18, 2023, and were released from house arrest in August. As of July 5, 2024, the pair are free to leave Romania, but can only travel within the EU. Re-arrest on UK warrant On March 11, 2024, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested again by Romanian authorities after a warrant was issued by Westminster Magistrates Court in London. The brothers were arrested on charges of sexual aggression that date back to between 2012 and 2015. A lawyer representing four women who accused Tate of rape and sexual assault urged British police to immediately act receiving information that he was planning to leave Romania, a statement said. After appearing at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, it was ruled that Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan would be extradited to the UK following the conclusion of legal proceedings in Romania. However, the date for their trial has yet to be decided. How long could Andrew Tate go to jail for? Under Romanian law, the Tate brothers could face jail sentences for as long as ten years for trafficking adults. The Tates have denied all accusations of human trafficking, rape, and sexual exploitation. However, they could face more time if they’re found guilty of multiple crimes, particularly the rape charges. Rape in Romania can result in up to 18 years in jail. In the UK, jail sentences for sexual assault can last up to 14 years. For more updates on Andrew Tate, check out our coverage of how the charges against him were recently broadened.

Why is Andrew Garfield’s laugh going viral on TikTok? – Dexerto
Why is Andrew Garfield’s laugh going viral on TikTok? YouTube: WIREDSpider-Man star Andrew Garfield is going viral on TikTok thanks to his odd (but definitely lovable) laugh. But why is his giggle taking the app by storm? Here’s everything we know. Andrew Garfield swung his way back into the Spider-Verse last year alongside Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way home, making for one of the biggest box office releases in history. But it’s not his hilarious one-liners in the Marvel movie that are taking over TikTok right now; instead, it’s a sound byte from an interview recorded around the same time as the film’s release in December 2021. The clip has garnered tons of humorous edits from fans months after the fact… but some TikTok users aren’t exactly sure where the sound byte comes from, or why it’s so popular. Andrew Garfield TikTok laughing clip explained On December 7, 2021, Garfield sat down with Wired for one of their iconic ‘Autocomplete Interviews,’ where he answered the net’s most-Googled questions about himself. The iconic laugh you can hear all over TikTok was prompted due to a particularly humorous question for Garfield, who’d read aloud the search query “Andrew Garfield organ movie.” “That sounds like the title of my s*x tape or something!” he laughed in response to the question before clarifying that it was likely referencing his 2010 film, ‘Never Let Me Go.’ (Topic begins at 5 minutes) However, his over-the-top response to the innocent query left fans flabbergasted — mostly at his odd laugh, which has now taken over TikTok in the form of hundreds of memes months after the fact. Most videos have edited his strange laugh, speeding it up or slowing it down — or even comparing it to iconic maniacal laughs from Green Goblin and The Joker. Click here if TikTok fails to load. Perhaps one of the strangest, though, combines Garfield’s guffaw with the recent Reading Rainbow trend that took over the app not too long ago in a way that’s all too perfect. Click here if TikTok fails to load. What can we say — the internet is a strange place, but Garfield’s laugh is certainly putting a pleasant (if a little confused) smile on our faces.

Why has PewDiePie stopped Pew News? The full explanation – Dexerto
Why has PewDiePie stopped Pew News? The full explanation YouTube: PewDiePieYouTube king Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg has confirmed that his popular Pew News series will be going on the shelf for the time being – but why is he choosing to do so? After going head-to-head with T Series for over a year, PewDiePie finally reached that magical 100 million subscribers mark thanks to his regular uploads of Minecraft, Meme Review, and Pew News. However, in recent weeks, there has been a distinct lack of Pew News on his channel – leaving fans questioning if it had gone away forever and wouldn’t be coming back. During his ‘Why I stopped’ upload on September 19, the YouTube star dove into topics about himself, including the drama about him wearing an ‘Iron Cross’ symbol, while also explaining why he stopped Pew News. “It’s like, all these ideas are diseases that are just spread and I don’t like it – and it’s part of the reason why I stopped doing Pew News, because I hate playing into all this drama that doesn’t mean anything,” Pewds said, after discussing the return of ProJared to YouTube and beef surrounding James Charles. The popular YouTuber continued on: “Like, there’s been so many things happening while I haven’t been doing Pew News and I can’t even recite one of them because it doesn’t matter. Everyone forgets about it a week after – like, no one should actually spend their time caring about these things, it’s a waste of time. “I don’t want to spend my life caring about these things. Trust me, I’m doing you a favor by not doing Pew News – you don’t need to know about these things, they’re not important.” Pewds confirmed that the Pew News show is “closed indefinitely” and that his newsreader character would be returning to retirement. However, he didn’t shut the door on a possible return down the line, jokingly adding that the persona will probably be dragged back out when PewDiePie makes another “oopsie.”

Why is ICE POSEIDON’s CX Network shutting down? Ice PoseidonPopular IRL streamer Paul ‘ICE POSEIDON’ Denino has revealed his plans for the future following the FBI raid on his home, and explained why the CX Network will be shutting down in the near future. ICE POSEIDON is a controversial livestreamer who owns the CX Network, which is home to a number of livestreamers like Mexican Andy and Petey Plastic, who regularly appear in Denino’s broadcasts. Denino has been criticized for his content in the past, and found himself in hot water on Wednesday, March 20, when the FBI stormed his house and seized all his computers and streaming equipment. What the FBI were raiding Denino for is unknown, but some have said it was regarding “spoof” bomb threats, while others claim it is unrelated. With the FBI currently in possession of his equipment, Denino has been unable to stream, but has uploaded a video going into detail surrounding his future, and that of the popular CX Network. “The long-term plans with LA is, we’re probably going to move out in two months,” Denino told his viewers. “I don’t know where we’re going to go, we’ll travel around the country and the fans can help me choose where to live.” “I’m leaving everyone but my girlfriend and Voldesad. I’m going to build myself up. When I move, I’m going to remove everyone from the network. I might just shut the whole thing down. I want to focus on myself, not on building other people. I’ve been fucked over too many times. I want to focus on myself.” (Topic begins at 1:23 in the video.) Denino is planning to drive to Oklahoma to pick up a military truck that they plan to renovate and use to drive around the US in search of his new home. ICE POSEIDON also intends to purchase a new phone and computer, saying that “nothing is happening with the FBI,” but he likely won’t get his possessions back from them for a while.

Why has Hasan been banned by Twitch? Streamer responds to controversial ban [UPDATED] – Dexerto
Why has Hasan been banned by Twitch? Streamer responds to controversial ban [UPDATED] Twitch: HasanAbiUPDATE: July 24 1:45PM PST Hasan has been unbanned on Twitch as of approximately 1:20PST on July 24. Popular Twitch streamer Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker has issued a response after he received a ban from the streaming platform, claiming he will appeal their decision. Piker is well known as being one of the hosts on The Young Turks YouTube channel, a politics and news show which boasts over 4 million subscribers. However, he also runs a very successful Twitch channel, with over 100,000 followers and 2.5 million channel views. On July 23, after a normal stream, Hasan’s channel became impossible to find, leaving many of his fans wondering if he had been suspended from the platform. Hasan himself tweeted in response, stating that he “got banned again on Twitch. This time it’s for interacting with my streaming equipment while driving. Apparently i’m not allowed to take my phone out of its dashboard holster while the car is fully stopped to hide the area I live in.” Most streamers will attempt to obscure their location, especially when streaming IRL, for their own safety and to avoid any unwelcome visitors. i got banned again on twitch. this time it’s for interacting with my streaming equipment while driving. apparently i’m not allowed to take my phone out of its dashboard holster while the car is fully stopped to hide the area i live in. — hasanabi (@hasanthehun) July 23, 2019 He went on to give more context in a second tweet, in which explains that his ban is a week long, but that he will be appealing. “The additional context I got was that I was interacting with chat while taking the phone off the holster, as it was on my lap,” he explained. “I’m usually insanely careful about this and I think I literally addressed it, while I was taking the phone off the holster.” It seems that Twitch are becoming increasingly wary of streamers driving dangerously as result of livestreaming, hence the austerity of their response in this situation. it’s a 7 day ban. i will appeal. the additional context i got was that i was interacting w chat while taking the phone off the holster, as it was on my lap. i’m usually insanely careful about this and i think i literally addressed it, while i was taking the phone off the holster. — hasanabi (@hasanthehun) July 23, 2019 Recently, multiple streamers were banned by Twitch, after they were judged to have been driving unsafely as a result of live streaming. Travel and outdoor streamer ‘pajalockk’ was likewise hit with the ban hammer after nearly running over pedestrians on two separate occasions during a live streamed drive on June 10 – all within a span of thirty seconds. While it’s not clear what the outcome of Hasan’s case will be, it’s clear that Twitch are prioritizing safety, and taking a hardline stance on driving streams.

Why has Mitch Jones lost his Twitch partnership? Streamer returns from ban – Dexerto
Why has Mitch Jones lost his Twitch partnership? Streamer returns from ban Popular streamer Mitch ‘MitchJones’ Jones may have been unbanned by Twitch following a suspension, but he’s also lost his partner status. Mitch Jones has been streaming on Twitch for eight years, becoming one of the most popular in-real-life streamers in the process, racking up over 415,000 followers and plenty of subscribers. However, his time on the platform hasn’t been all smooth sailing. He’s been handed suspensions on numerous occasions, including one for reading his chat while driving, and more recently showing off a racist direct message on-stream. Yet, his future on the platform looks to be up in the air after losing the all-important partner status. Mitch Jones has been one of Twitch’s most popular IRL streamers. The popular streamer had his most recent suspension lifted on October 21 at around 3:56 pm EST/8:56 pm BST, and 12:56 pm PST. Yet, as viewers flooded to his channel to see if he would be making an immediate return, they noticed something was off. His sub button had been removed, confirming that his Twitch partnership had been revoked for some reason. :rotating_light: BREAKING: @Twitch #streamer @MitchJonez has been UNBANNED. He is NO LONGER a #Twitch #partner! :rat::rotating_light: https://t.co/kihUvGP7Oo — Twitch Partner Bans (@TwitchBanned) October 21, 2019 While the reason for its removal is unknown – Twitch does not, usually, comment on individual suspensions or situations with partners – some viewers have theorized that it’s because he had been banned so soon after a previous suspension. The streamer himself has not commented on the situation outside of a few messages in his chat following the unbanning. He confirmed that he was unable to put the chat into a subscriber-only mode and wouldn’t be streaming on October 21. However, he didn’t give any indication as to if he’ll be broadcasting in the following days. A chat message from the streamer following the loss of his sub button. Losing his Twitch partnership is a big deal, especially being unable to bring in subscribers, but it’s not the end of the world if he is unable to get it back in the future. A number of other streamers, like Dellor, have transitioned to broadcasting on YouTube after being unable to become a Twitch partner. Dellor himself had incredible success with his initial stream, so it remains to be seen if Jones will follow in his footsteps.

Why Has FouseyTube Renamed Himself Rose Erakat? YouTuber Makes His Next Bizarre Move – Dexerto
Why Has FouseyTube Renamed Himself Rose Erakat? YouTuber Makes His Next Bizarre Move If you’ve been left confused about why popular YouTuber FouseyTube has renamed himself to Rose Erakat, we’re here to help. Yousef Saleh Erakat is popular content creator who gained popularity making YouTube videos, and in the process has amassed over 10 million subscribers. However, throughout the summer months of 2018, there has been concerns raised about his mental health. After posting a series of bizarre rants online, Fousey decided to host a concert with only one week of preparation, named July 15th. The concert featured a number of up and coming rappers, and it was reported that Canadian rapper Drake would be appearing later in the evening. Unfortunately for Fousey, the July 15th concert was subject to a hoax bomb threat and was cancelled in order to evacuate everyone. Although it later transpired that Fousey had never met Drake and that he was never going to attend, it thrust the YouTube personality back onto the radar of those who follow the digital entertainment industry in order to see what he’d do next. Despite coming under attack for reportedly not giving an Uber driver $50k to change his life as promised, or paying for the tuition fees of a kid he met on the beach so he’d quit his job, Fousey continues to post erratic videos and posts on social media. “My birth name is Yousef Saleh Erakat. Named after Yusuf (AS).. My nickname is FouseY. As of July 15th the day I was reborn, you can now call me ROSE. Inspired by the Rose that grew from the concrete. Showing everyone that no matter where you are, it doesn’t mean you have to stay there. God has bigger plans for you as long as you let go and let God. Love has arrived. If you meet me and call me ‘Rose’ expect a hug full of love and respect and eye contact while we speak. As children of HEAVEN.” As you’d expect he’s had something of a mixed response, with a number of commentators on both Twitter and Instagram questioning his mental health.

Why is Fedmyster banned from Twitch? IRL streamer apologizes for vandalism – Dexerto
Why is Fedmyster banned from Twitch? IRL streamer apologizes for vandalism Popular League of Legends player William ‘Scarra’ Li. The American is a regular IRL streamer, broadcasting himself as he travels and does activities with friends and other Twitch personalities, and it was during one of these streams that Fedmyster got himself suspended from the site. Fedmyster is part of OfflineTV alongside Pokimane. Why did Fedmyster get suspended from Twitch? The OfflineTV member has been visiting Japan since March 20, streaming his trip around the country as he takes part in various activities including archery and indoor skydiving. After a night out with fellow IRL streamer JakenbakeLIVE, a seemingly drunk Fedmyster was shown stumbling around with a traffic cone on his head during a late-night broadcast, flailing his arms as he bounced down an alley. Unable to see where he was going, Fedmyster walked into a vending kiosk, knocking down two wooden doors that were used to close the kiosk. JakenbakeLIVE immediately turned the camera away from the situation, telling viewers: “Okay, that’s not good.” The doors were placed back, but Twitch clearly agreed with JakenbakeLIVE’s sentiment, suspending the American’s account for 14 days. Fedmyster apologizes While some would argue the nature of the ban, Fedmyster has made it clear that he has no issue with the suspension, posting an apology on Twitter while announcing the news that he would be missing from Twitch for the next two weeks. “I think the ban is completely justified, and [I] take full responsibility,” wrote the OfflineTV star. “I have already made personal changes to ensure this never happens again. Why fans think TanaCon could be making a comeback – Dexerto
Why fans think TanaCon could be making a comeback Tana Mongeau, YouTubeYouTube star Tana Mongeau held her own version of VidCon, TanaCon, in summer 2018, which infamously went down in flames — but despite its controversy, some fans think the event could be making a surprise comeback. VidCon is one of the world’s largest events for online content creators, featuring top YouTubers and drawing crowds of thousands of fans who hope to meet their favorite internet personalities. However, Mongeau hoped to create a rival to the famous convention, prompting the inception of “TanaCon,” which promised to feature such names as ex-Disney star Bella Thorne, YouTuber Shane Dawson, and other celebs. Although the hype surrounding TanaCon was very real, fans found themselves ultimately disappointed in the event, with many waiting outside in extreme heat for hours without tickets before the convention was ultimately canceled. Despite TanaCon’s now-infamous status as a disaster, some fans think it could be making a comeback in the near future (current global events aside), with one internet detective discovering a curious development two years later. I’ve never had an experience like this. I’ve never been crushed up against a fence with my legs pressed between two tables. I’ve never stood in the sun for 5+ hours straight. I’m up in my hotel room just baffled. But I got this great pic when everyone shoved at once. #TanaCon pic.twitter.com/8B5oZuhCjS — Lissa (@LissaRay_) June 22, 2018 https://twitter.com/Lovely_asf/status/1010238353898258432?s=20 Michael Weist, the CEO of event organization company Good Times that helped run TanaCon, reportedly registered the trademark for the convention on April 7, 2020, as evidenced by an entry on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. While Weist has apparently begun taking steps to bring Mongeau’s event back into the public eye, his social media shows that he is currently working on JuiceKon, with no other trace of the YouTuber’s VidCon rival in sight, otherwise. It is also noteworthy that Mongeau and VidCon are back on speaking terms, after she initially created her own version of the event after expressing frustrations with not receiving a Featured Creator badge and being able to interact with her fans safely. Having starred as a featured creator at VidCon London just this year, it seems that TanaCon’s supposed revival is coming out of left field — and a quick look at the comments section shows that fans are a bit wary of its alleged comeback. How is this quack still operating a business? He’s a proven fraud. — Raxcental ⭐⚡ (@raxcental) April 17, 2020 >Tanacon is coming So this means more people are gonna get sunburnt to hell and back?— nonsensicaldreamer (@nonsensicaIdrea) April 17, 2020 Mongeau likewise has yet to speak on the subject, leaving the matter as mere fan conjuncture for now — forcing many to be suspicious as to what’s really happening behind the scenes.

Why fans think Tayler Holder and Sommer Ray’s summer romance is over – Dexerto
Why fans think Tayler Holder and Sommer Ray’s summer romance is over Instagram: Tayler HolderIt seems as though Tayler Holder and Sommer Ray were about to make it official they were an item, but now it looks as though it could be the opposite. The two popular TikTokkers have now unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Sommer Ray has deleted every TikTok the two were in together. In the last few days, Tayler Holder has been posting clips of him and Sommer hugging, giving each other pecks on the cheek, and just generally getting very close. Fellow TikTokker Blake Gray posted a video with Sommer captioned “Sorry @itstaylerholder we had to take your girl for a sec”, and Tayler replied, “tell her I miss her.” On Thursday, Tayler uploaded a slideshow to Instagram of him and Sommer together captioned “She’s kinda cool.” Many of the Hype house members and friends commented: James Charles wrote “omg this is so cute imma cry,” while both Addison Rae and Dixie D’Amelio commented ‘ship.’ Whatever romance was blossoming looks like it was very short-lived, although neither has confirmed or denied any rumors. Tayler hasn’t deleted any posts including Sommer. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBTluVEFM6j/ On June 11, the male TikToker ambiguously tweeted, but since deleted, according to Instagram tiktokroom: “Please know your facts before assuming something about me.” On June 12, he tweeted: “You know what’s so amazing. Why fans think Loren Gray could be joining the Hype House – Dexerto
Why fans think Loren Gray could be joining the Hype House Loren Gray, YouTubeTikTokker Loren Gray is one of the platform’s biggest stars, and was once the app’s most-followed creator before the rise of Charli D’Amelio — and now, she could be making even bigger moves. The TikTok scene boasts a slew of content houses, which bring together some of the platform’s biggest stars under a single roof to level up their social media game and collaborate with one another on various projects. One of the most popular of these content houses is the Hype House, which was once home to such names as sisters Charli and Dixie D’Amelio and even Addison Rae, although many top creators have since made an exit from the group in wake of legal allegations against its co-founders. However, Hype House continues to breed speculation from fans in wake of these exits, with many viewers guessing at who will replace these huge names — and Loren Gray is one of them. Gray, who once held the title of TikTok’s queen with over 45 million followers on the platform, is notable for her popular dancing and lip syncing videos as well as her own original music, which she uploads to YouTube — home to her 3.7 million subscribers. Now, fans are theorizing that she could be one of Hype House’s potential members, after the star posted a few collaborative TikTok videos and a group photo with the HH squad, including a separate joint video with member Tayler Holder. Considering that University of Portland soccer player Noah Beck was recently seen in a similar scenario with members from the Sway House, fans are on the edges of their seats to see whether or not Gray’s social media posts are hint at a future move. For now, Gray has been decidedly silent on the subject, as have other members of the house, although not everyone is pleased with the implication that TikTok’s previous queen could be joining the group. Despite their sentiments, viewers can only watch and wait for further moves from the star, who has yet to join such a collaborative group despite her popularity across social media.

Is Noah Beck Joining Sway House? – Dexerto
Is Noah Beck Joining Sway House? Portland Pilots, YouTubeTikTok creator and soccer player Noah Beck could be the Sway House’s next member, according to potential evidence found by fans following Jaden Hossler and Josh Richards’ recent hiatus from the group. Sway House is the second most popular TikTok content collective after the Hype House, with both organizations bringing content creators under a single roof to collaborate and level up their social media game. However, Sway House has seen the sudden departure of two of its most prominent members in Josh Richards and Jaden Hossler, with the former stating in a Tweet that the two wanted to “take a hiatus” from the group and that they have “a lot of really big announcements coming soon.” Although further information has yet to come forth regarding these “announcements,” fans are speculating that the duo may not make a return, and instead, could even be replaced by another up-and-coming TikTok star. The creator in question? Noah Beck, a 19-year-old social media influencer and soccer player who currently represents the University of Portland at the NCAA Division I level. …industry. Jaden & I have decided to go on a hiatus from Sway. Love you all, and will always love my sway family. I have a lot of really big announcements coming soon that I’m excited to share with you. I am stoked for what’s to come for @jadenhossler and I. pic.twitter.com/qu4UkXT5nN — Josh (@JoshRichards) May 31, 2020 Boasting over 2.6 million followers on TikTok, some fans have pinned him as Sway House’s next member in wake of Richard and Hossler’s departure — especially after he was seen posing with members of the org on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBtOSuPnEZK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link That’s not all; Beck also filmed a TikTok video with two Sway members, Blake Gray and Quinton Griggs, leading a fan to ask the star if he was set to join the group. Rather than giving a clear-cut answer, he instead answered with an ellipsis, sparking further speculation among viewers. In fact, fans have already taken to social media with their theories on Sway’s potential new addition — although his blooming career as a pro athlete may get in the way of his status as a TikTok star. For now, nothing is set in stone about Beck’s possible move to Sway, and with his soccer career still on the table, there’s no telling what’s in store for his future on social media platforms (although it seems he’s already got his foot firmly in the door of Sway House, so to speak).

Why fans think David Dobrik is dating TikTok’s Addison Rae – Dexerto
Why fans think David Dobrik is dating TikTok’s Addison Rae daviddobrik / addisoneasterling (Instagram)Fans have a new theory that YouTube superstar David Dobrik and TikTok star Addison Rae are dating, and the pair are happy to feed into the speculation. David Dobrik is one of YouTube’s biggest names, with millions of fans tuning into his vlogs, and there is always relationship rumors swirling. One of the narratives within those vlogs is that David is dating his long-time assistant, Natalie Mariduena. Despite having squashed the rumors on multiple occasions in their vlogs, Natalie is constantly rumored to be the 23-year-old’s girlfriend. Best friends since high school, the pair’s chemistry in Dobrik’s vlogs is undeniable, but now it appears Addison Rae has been thrown into the rumor mill by those keeping close tabs on his antics. Yet even with the evidence seemingly pointing towards a potential Dobrik and Mariduena relationship, some fans think Addison Rae could well be the forerunner to stealing David’s heart. Addison and David had been spotted spending a lot more time together prior, and even now in lockdown, are making TikTok’s together, while still observing social distancing. It wasn’t just public appearances that spiraled the gossip into more than just hearsay, as both Dobrik and Rae continued to create content beyond the bounds set by the current situation, as the TikToker posted a clip where the YouTuber makes a virtual guest appearance on her MacBook. Although it was Addison’s TikTok caption that really got fans talking, as she wrote: “he’s so sexy @daviddobrik” — which of course had plenty of fans in a frenzy in the comments. But while there seems to be a number of signals suggesting that the pair are getting a little cosy, they could also be just getting more comfortable as friends — especially since Rae reportedly signed with Dobrik’s manager. Although it’s worth noting that the TikTok star was also previously linked with Bryce Hall, which was swiftly quashed as she told Entertainment Tonight that they’re both better off as friends “for now.” So until you hear it from either party, it’s worth taking these rumors with a pinch of salt.

Why fans think Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson are dating again – Dexerto
Why fans think Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson are dating again @lilhuddy, InstagramTikTok stars Charli D’Amelio and Chase Hudson revealed their split to fans in mid-April, but some viewers aren’t convinced they’re still broken up, according to a few pieces of “evidence” found on their social media accounts. Charli and Hudson’s relationship was quickly besieged by drama, after fellow TikTokker Josh Richards accused Hudson of messaging his girlfriend Nessa Barret, and even dropped a diss track about the scandal. Amid the rampant fan speculation that followed, Charli and Hudson (also referred to as Lil Huddy) confirmed their parting in separate Instagram posts, with both parties claiming that they still had love for one another, and would remain fast friends. “I truly have so much love for Chase and wish nothing but the best for him,” D’Amelio said of their breakup. “I’m sorry I waited so long to tell you all. I wanted to take the time to process it for myself. Breakups are tough for everyone, so I’d really rather not talk about it anymore.” However, it doesn’t look like all is lost in regards to their romance, with fans picking up on some possible signs of long-distance love between the two TikTok superstars in spite of their public split. Hudson’s happy birthday Tweet to Charli contained a white heart emoji, which Charli also used in her response to his message — a symbol often thought to represent “pure love.” happy birthday char 🤍 have a hell of a day you deserve the world. pic.twitter.com/6dB6A1tRPV — Huddy (@xhuddy) May 1, 2020 That’s not all; Hudson also uploaded a dance to TikTok wearing a special hoodie in honor of Charli’s 16th birthday, which was rumored to have been gifted to the social media celeb by his ex-girlfriend. Still others theorize that Charli and Hudson were spotted wearing “love bracelets” in separate TikToks — although this, among the other fan theories, are mere rumors, with no real evidence behind them. For now, it’s safe to speculate that both TikTokkers are simply embracing their friendship after their split, as told by their breakup posts on Instagram — but it doesn’t seem that those posts are going to stop viewers from shipping the two stars, anyway.

Why fans think Charli & Dixie D’Amelio are leaving the Hype House – Dexerto
Why fans think Charli & Dixie D’Amelio are leaving the Hype House Famous Birthdays, YouTubeInternet stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are two of TikTok’s most-followed content creators — but despite their standing on the viral video app, some fans think these two are making an exit from the famous Hype House. The Hype House is one of the net’s most popular content creation groups, bringing together multiple famous TikTokkers underneath one roof for optimal video creation and brainstorming. However, the House has come under fire as of late, with TikTok star Daisy Keech accusing fellow founder Thomas Petrou of excluding her from business decisions and denying access to the House’s social media, among other transgressions. Keech left the House shortly thereafter and is even suing both Petrou and creator Chase Hudson — but she’s not the only one fans think is making an exit from the group. In the midst of this current legal drama, some fans are speculating that massive TikTokkers Charli and Dixie are preparing to leave the Hype House, as well, noting that the House’s Instagram account hasn’t promoted their videos via their stories for some weeks. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-9vFOqnJii/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link That’s not all: the last photo including Dixie and Charli was posted to their Instagram feed five weeks ago, adding even more fuel to the fire of fan speculation that there’s more going on with the Hype House than meets the eye. Previously, both sisters made regular appearances on the House’s feed — but now, they’re never seen on the page, something that holds up with Keech’s claims that the House would stop posting about creators it has beef with. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9kETaBHkml/ Charli’s proposed exit could also be the result of her recent split with Hype House founder Chase Hudson, with the two going public about their breakup in separate Instagram posts after weeks of critics suggesting that Hudson had cheated. While these rumors are still up in the air, the TikTok stars are no longer together, giving fans reason enough to believe that the D’Amelio sisters might want to remove themselves from the premises. However, it’s important to note that this is all fan speculation, and concrete evidence of both Charli and Dixie’s supposed exodus from the Hype House remains as mere conjecture as this story continues to develop.

Why does Snapchat keep crashing? How to fix the issue – Dexerto
Why does Snapchat keep crashing? How to fix the issue UNSPLASH: ROBIN WORRALLIn June 2024, a number of Snapchat users have been struggling to open the app, as it keeps crashing. But what’s causing this glitch, and how do you fix it? Like any app, Snapchat isn’t immune to issues, and one common problem is the platform crashing. There are multiple reasons why apps crash, generally ranging from software bugs to hardware incompatibilities. On June 11, 2024, numerous Snapchat users took to X to express their difficulties with accessing the app. It frequently closed unexpectedly and kicked users out upon trying to open it. Although the exact cause of this glitch hasn’t been pinpointed, several common factors could be contributing to this issue. These include problems with the internet connection, the app being outdated, or issues with Snapchat’s servers. How to fix Snapchat crashing glitch If you’re among those affected, here are some steps you can take to potentially resolve the Snapchat crashing problem: Check Snapchat’s server status: Sometimes, the problem is on Snapchat’s end. Why does TikTok keep asking for my birthday? – Dexerto
Why does TikTok keep asking for my birthday? Unsplash: Alexander ShatovSome TikTok users have been reporting that every time they open the app they are asked to input their birthday — but what is actually causing this, and is there a way to fix it? ByteDance-owned TikTok is the most popular social media platform out there right now, with a constant influx of new users joining the platform to create and view content. The site is constantly adding new features to improve people’s experience on the app, however, people frequently report some strange technical issues when using TikTok. This has ranged from comments sections that don’t load, to videos not appearing, and one reoccurring issue that has been frustrating users across the platform sees the app asking people to input their birthday repeatedly. It’s normal for TikTok to ask you to verify your age, as there are different rules and features available on the site for different ages. In October 2022, the app announced they would be raising the minimum age requirement to host a live from 16 to 18. However, users have claimed that they are being asked to enter their birthday multiple times in one day, with seemingly no way to stop it from happening. This appears to be some sort of glitch on TikTok’s end in many cases, though it’s not exactly clear what causes it. How to fix the birthday glitch on TikTok Unfortunately, there isn’t a concrete way to fix this issue if you are experiencing it, however, there are several things you can try to see whether it will help your app return to normal. If the birthday prompt keeps reappearing even if you’ve already responded to it, try these steps to see whether they resolve the issue: Log out, then log back in again — To log out of your account go to the profile tab, click the three lines in the top right, then ‘Settings and privacy.’ Scroll to the bottom and then tap ‘Log out.’ – Delete and reinstall the app — If logging back into your account didn’t stop the issue, you could also try deleting TikTok and then re-downloading it (note: If you delete the app, it will also automatically delete all your saved drafts, so make sure you back up any content you want to keep to your camera roll before you try this.) – Contact TikTok Support — If you want to make sure the issue doesn’t lie with your account, you could try contacting TikTok Support via their Twitter account to find out whether the glitch can be fixed. – As with any technical issue like this, there will likely be a fix for it soon, but the glitch continues to pop up on the app. If you want to learn more about how to use TikTok, you can check out our other guides here: How to duet on TikTok | How to Stitch on TikTok | How to go live on TikTok | How to find contacts on TikTok | How to use TikTok Stories | Best time to post on TikTok for more views and likes

Why do people love to hate Addison Rae? – Dexerto
Why do people love to hate Addison Rae? Instagram: addisonraeeFrom being accused of “taking jobs” with her UFC reporter role, to being shredded for her pronunciation of ‘Versace,’ TikTok sensation Addison Rae is no stranger to her every move being picked apart online. But what is it about her that keeps the hate rolling in? If you ask someone to name a TikTok star, the chances are that one of the first names out of their mouths is going to be Addison Rae. The 20-year-old started on TikTok back in 2019, and thanks to her popular dance videos, within only a few months she garnered millions of followers on the platform. This even led to her dropping out of her broadcast journalism degree to move to LA and pursue this new career. She now has over 85 million followers—but it’s clear she doesn’t want to stick exclusively to social media, launching both singing and acting careers within the past year. But despite her immense popularity, there are still legions of people out there waiting to criticize her for her every move. In the past year alone, she’s been slammed for: watching anime, playing Among Us with Dream, being “boring” in a Jimmy Kimmel interview, being “awkward” when presenting at the BBMAs, allegedly smoking a cigarette, pronouncing Versace wrong…the list goes on. So, what is it about the influencer that fuels this perpetual undercurrent of hate? To say Addison is the epitome of TikTok virality would be an understatement. Addison had her popularity and fame literally fall at her feet—as is the case for many TikTok stars. Without even intending to, she managed to become a celebrity practically overnight. As a direct result, she has received countless career opportunities in a number of different industries. Of course, for many, the idea alone is a frustrating one. TikTok has become intrinsically linked with the notion of “talentless” but conventionally attractive people being handed a world of opportunity—and Rae has unwittingly become the poster child of that. However, it’s easier to hate people than ideas, so the star has become a punching bag for those who resent the phenomenon of TikTok fame as a whole. Because people feel her fame isn’t ‘deserved’ in the first place, they also feel justified in tearing her apart. People aren’t just waiting for her to slip up, they’re actively looking for holes to pick. And in some ways, criticizing Addison has become a ‘meme’ in and of itself. Read More: Which TikTokers have launched music careers? – Rae, more than anyone, is aware of the effect she has on some people. In an interview with Mane Addicts, she said: “I receive a lot of hate and for the craziest things. People seem to hate me for being too nice… they just hate it. People are actually so upset about me smiling all the time. They’re like, what the [expletive] is this [expletive] happy about?” Rather than lash out at hate, Addison tends to take a more lighthearted approach in her response, more inclined to react to the backlash with a joke, even if it’s at her own expense. Unfortunately, this often spurs trolls on even more. Addison believes the negativity stems from a need to project, and an assumption that their words won’t have an effect on the recipient. “When you see someone on the internet who’s getting a lot of likes or followers, you don’t necessarily think they’ll see [negative comments], so you just want to project that onto them,” she said. It’s not uncommon for entire videos and comment sections to be dedicated to hating on Addison, with the culture of negativity on TikTok progressively becoming more accepted—but stars like Charli & Dixie D’Amelio have proven that this culture is not without consequence.

Why doctors warn against “dangerous” garlic-up-nose TikTok hack – Dexerto
Why doctors warn against “dangerous” garlic-up-nose TikTok hack TikTok: hwannah5/rozalinekatherine/courtneyhendleyyDoctors have warned TikTok users not to take part in the viral ‘garlic’ hack. While the trick may appear to “work”, inserting garlic up your nose could do some serious damage. Taking garlic breath to the next level, this new ‘garlic up nose’ hack has been making the rounds on TikTok as of late. In a viral video posted on June 25, user @hwannah5 attempted to clear her sinuses in a pretty unconventional way. The hack allegedly works by sticking a clove of garlic in each nostril, then leaving them for 20 minutes. Users then make sure they find a sink (or another receptacle) before pulling them out. Once the cloves have been removed, a sea of snot follows, making for one gruesome watch. @hwannah5’s video has since reached over 35 million views, and many users have already given it a go for themselves. User @rozalinekatherine posted a TikTok of her trying the trick out, insisting “it really works!” Doctors advise against viral TikTok trend Doctors have since explained why, in theory, the trick works. The garlic isn’t actually the reason for the slurry of snot being triggered. Any obstruction will cause a clog of mucus; once the dam is broken, the mucus will pour out. But (as is often the case) just because you can, does that mean you should? Abisola Olulade, MD told Refinery29 that the hack is genuinely “dangerous.” The spicy scent of the garlic can cause “irritation,” prompting your nose to stream, and obstruction of the nasal passages (i.e. cramming objects up your nose) can also cause lining “damage.” Of course, there’s always the risk of the cloves getting stuck up there. The moral of the story? Perhaps it’s best not to stick things up your nose without consulting a doctor, first!

Why Dixie D’Amelio was ‘scared’ of going to YouTubers vs TikTokers event – Dexerto
Why Dixie D’Amelio was ‘scared’ of going to YouTubers vs TikTokers event Instagram: Dixie D’Amelio / Instagram: Bryce Hall24 hours after the first of its kind YouTubers vs TikTokers boxing PPV, one of social media’s biggest stars, Dixie D’Amelio, has revealed why she wasn’t in attendance. The highly anticipated ‘Battle of the Platforms’ boxing event is finally in the history books. After months of building towards the social media showdown, it was ultimately Team YouTube that came away with a complete sweep, as every TikTok fighter was handed either a loss or a draw. In the main event Bryce Hall finally faced off against Austin McBroom, though it was a short-lived contest. While a good number of internet celebs were in attendance to support their friends, one of the biggest TikTokers was absent. Dixie D’Amelio missed the PPV and just 24 hours later, she explained why. “It lowkey might be dangerous,” fellow TikToker Noah Beck explained in their new June 14 vlog. “That’s one of the reasons she’s not going.” “It just doesn’t seem well planned out,” D’Amelio said during her partner’s latest upload. Despite being in the ring for Jake Paul’s scrap with Ben Askren, she opted to give this one a miss. Explaining why, she simply didn’t believe the latest batch of social media bouts would lead to a safe environment. “I don’t imagine this one being well put together,” she argued. Multiple scraps ahead of the main event gave off less of a professional appearance, according to the TikTok star. “The fact that people got tackled at the little meetup where they shook hands,” was a key reason she decided to stay home. “Love all of them but have some composure,” Beck chimed in as well, agreeing with D’Amelio but heading to the event nonetheless. It was ultimately a disappointing night for TikTok fans, one that D’Amelio didn’t see coming. “I would love for all the TikTokers to win,” she said during this pre-event vlog. Evidently not a fan of antics leading up to the PPV, Triller may need to clean up its act if D’Amelio is to return at the next event.

Why did Paramore delete their social media & website? Fans speculate – Dexerto
Why did Paramore delete their social media & website? Fans speculate Wikimedia Commons, Raph_PHParamore has wiped their social media and deleted their website, leading fans to believe a new era is about to start. Artists are known to completely wipe their social media before starting a new era. From Lady Gaga to Dua Lipa, every major pop star seems to do it these days. A total blackout washes away the old to give way to the new. Paramore now joins the club, as the pop-punk band has wiped their social media clean and even deleted their website. All posts on Twitter/X and Instagram are gone, with only Facebook containing some previous posts. Across the board, profile pics and banner images have been deleted, leaving grey spaces in their place. While many fans are freaking out, Reddit users are convinced the social media overhaul teases a new era on the horizon. “They’re not splitting up, they’ve been vocal about being in a great place and wanting to start a new album,” wrote one user. Others were quick to note that since the band is leaving their label, it makes sense to refresh. Paramore says “uncertainty” is in their future Paramore has “fulfilled all label obligations and are effectively free agents,” according to their Uproxx interview. Hayley Williams, Taylor York, and Zac Farro said there’s a level of “uncertainty” in their future. But that doesn’t mean they’ll be breaking up anytime soon. “I just hope we can keep building the Paramore empire and then rule the world,” said Farro. The band has been signed to Atlantic Records since 2005 and has released six total albums, including 2023’s This is Why. With the contract ending, many speculate the label controlled their social media accounts, as well as the website, so Paramore could be required to start from scratch. One Reddit user broke down the reasons why wiping social media is not necessarily a “bad” thing. “I doubt they’d wipe social media if just swapping labels,” they wrote, before adding how Williams had previously “wiped her Instagram” ahead of a new era. The biggest piece of evidence reportedly comes from comments the band made during “their last concert,” at which they claimed “it was the end of their album era.” That indicates the band is ready to move on from This is Why and begin anew. Whether that means Paramore will go independent or have another label home, the band appears happier than they’ve ever been. The world is their oyster, as they say. Yesterday, I came out to my friends about this and expressed the emotional damage that I am recovering from. She continued: “No man should EVER sexually harass a girl. Nick is a boy using his clout to manipulate and prey on girls. He needs to be confronted and held accountable for his actions.” Since going public with these allegations, Brandy revealed on Twitter that “over a dozen” young women between the ages of 16 and 21 had come forward with allegations against Lambert. I’m so proud of the girls posting publicly on Tiktok and social media. That’s hard. Over a dozen girls have spoke up to me. Their ages are 16-21. Minors. I’m so sorry. I just want to hold y’all. Why did Dixie D’Amelio quit Twitter and is she coming back? – Dexerto
Why did Dixie D’Amelio quit Twitter and is she coming back? YouTube: Dixie D’AmelioDixie D’Amelio has decided to step away from Twitter, deleting her account and sticking to Instagram and TikTok. But, will she make a comeback in the future? Here’s what we know. The rise of TikTok has seen the birth of quite a few new social media stars. However, there’s none bigger than the D’Amelio sisters, Charli and Dixie. They combine for just shy of 155 million followers on TikTok, and they’ve become incredibly successful on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter too. However, Dixie recently took the step to delete her Twitter, leaving some fans quite confused about why she was doing it, while others have been asking her if she’ll be making a return at any point, or if the deletion is permanent. Why has Dixie D’Amelio deleted Twitter? The announcement that she was deleting Twitter caused quite a stir, given that she revealed why it was happening on January 8 – the same day in which President Trump had his personal account banned. Many fans asked if Dixie was deleting her account because of this, but she quickly rubbished those claims, replying “like no, wtf” to one comment. As for the actual reason behind her deletion, Dixie posted about it on her Instagram story not much longer after. “I’ve said it 100 f**king times… the reason I deleted Twitter was because I spend way too much time reading hate,” she said, adding that her timing in doing so was “just awful.” She also followed that up with another post, asking: “Hate me but talk about every move I make… okay?” Will Dixie D’Amelio come back to Twitter? As for if Dixie will be returning at any point, that’s a question that only she can answer – but it seems like it won’t be a short break, and should last for a while. Many social media stars have quit Twitter before and returned shortly after, just because of how easy it is to communicate with fans. So, we could see Dixie do something similar, herself, later down the line. Her sister, Charli, still has her Twitter account, along with 5.1 million followers – a number that is growing fast. At the end of the day, though, it really is just a case of waiting and seeing how Dixie takes her next step – whether it’s to tease a return to Twitter or whether she decides to say she’s never coming back. If she makes any indication, either way, we’ll be sure to update this post with the latest.

Why did my TikTok drafts disappear? – Dexerto
Why did my TikTok drafts disappear? Unsplash: Gilles LambertSaving TikTok drafts simplifies the process of editing it later, although there are instances when they might disappear. Here’s everything you need to know. Social media platform TikTok is known for its short-form videos, and it has a popular feature that allows users to create and save drafts of their videos. These drafts are stored locally on the user’s device and can be edited or posted at a later time. However, many users have reported instances where their drafts have been mysteriously deleted, leading to confusion and frustration. If you’ve found some of your TikTok drafts missing from your profile, it could mean a couple of things. Here’s everything you need to know. Why did TikTok delete my drafts? There could be several reasons as to why your drafts have been deleted. One common scenario is if you’ve deleted your TikTok app and then reinstalled it. In such cases, all of your previous drafts will be permanently deleted. This happens because drafts are saved on each specific device rather than being linked to your account. Therefore, uninstalling the app removes all the locally stored data, including your drafts. Another scenario is switching devices. If you’ve made a draft on your phone and then try to access it from your tablet, you won’t be able to find it. This is because drafts are specific to the device they were created on. They’re not synced across different devices, even if you’re logged into the same account. TikTok does provide a warning to its users about this. Above your drafted videos, a message pops up saying: “Only you can see your drafts. Uninstalling TikTok will discard all drafts.” This is an important reminder that if you need to delete and reinstall your app for any reason, you should make sure to save your drafts externally or transfer them to another device beforehand. Why did David Dobrik delete his latest vlog from YouTube? – Dexerto
Why did David Dobrik delete his latest vlog from YouTube? David Dobrik has become a YouTube sensation with his short-form, action-packed vlogs, but fans were left confused when he deleted a video with no explanation. Some of Dobrik’s most famous videos are about gifting cars to his friends, primarily through a partnership with the ticketing platform SeatGeek, who he regularly collaborates with on sponsored videos. Now, though, it’s rumored that the relationship between David and SeatGeek has gone sour due to some of the content in his latest vlog featuring Ian Borthwick, SeatGeek’s Director of Influencer Channels. In the video, Ian becomes slightly intoxicated after presenting David’s friend and videographer Joe with the new car they have gifted him. When asked to do the ad-read that David himself would usually do in the video, he is clearly intoxicated and struggles around the words, saying: “I don’t know what the f**k I’m doing… link in description. You can use promo code “David” for $20 off your first order. Link in description. Do it f***ing now.” Once the vlog was uploaded, both Ian and SeatGeek themselves responded to the tweet. Although they seem to be having fun and it comes across as light-hearted, the video being made private not long after suggests there definitely could be some issues with what was said or done in the vlog. The following day, on October 7, Borthwick tweeted the following, saying: “I knew I was in trouble when I woke up to this text… I was not up,” accompanied by a screenshot of a text from David saying “R u up”. I knew I was in trouble when I woke up to this text. …I was not up. https://t.co/E6hNA8dW67 pic.twitter.com/yKe8lqN41p — Ian from SeatGeek (@ianrborthwick) October 7, 2019 Though this might not be the reason definitively – neither Ian or David have shared publicly what has happened – some have suggested that Ian’s drunken appearance in the vlog is what has led to the video being deleted. Fans will have to wait until Dobrik’s next upload to see if he addresses the issue – though we may never find out for sure. Dobrik first started picking up traction on the internet on Vine in 2013, collaborating with popular Viners such as ex-girlfriend Liza Koshy, Jason Nash and Gabbie Hanna. This later formed the foundation of what is now known as The Vlog Squad, a YouTube collective in which Dobrik is the star name. The Slovak-born star moved to YouTube in 2014 and since then has become known for his series of vlogs, based on real-life situations but also using skits, semi-scripted bits and pranks to fill out each video with as much action and comedic moments as possible. In that time, he has accrued over 14 million subscribers.

Why can’t I see who liked my video on TikTok? – Dexerto
Why can’t I see who liked my video on TikTok? Unsplash: May GauthierOn June 26, TikTok users began reporting that they could no longer see who likes their videos on TikTok, seemingly as a result of some sort of glitch. Here’s everything you need to know. TikTok is one of the biggest social media platforms out there right now, and millions of users are uploading and browsing new content every day. When a creator uploads a video, it is common for them to want to see how much engagement it’s getting, and they’re also able to see who has liked their video. You can usually do this by going to a video you’ve uploaded, clicking on the comments button, and then the likes tab, bringing up a list of users that have liked the video. However, on June 26, some users began reporting that they were no longer able to see who liked their videos using that feature. “Is anyone else’s TikTok notifs just… not working,” one Twitter user wrote. “Like nothing is showing up in my TikTok notification section. I posted a video and it has 57 likes but it won’t show who liked it.” Read More: How to do TikTok’s photo swipe trend – “TikTok says I have 26 likes but it’s only showing 9 people that liked it wtf,” said another. For some, it appears that they are still able to see some of the accounts that liked their post, but it doesn’t match up with the number of likes it has received, whereas others are unable to see any usernames at all. is anyone else’s tiktok notifs just… not working. like nothing is showing up in my tiktok notification section. i posted a video and it has 57 likes but it won’t show who liked it. and my dms aren’t working. i tried deleting and restarting my phone and it’s not working — marina 🍒 (@IMNOTDENIRO) June 27, 2022 tiktok says i have 26 likes but it’s only showing 9 people that liked it wtf — rebecca🪽🪬 (@beccaxclaire) June 26, 2022 Unfortunately, the inconsistency of the error indicates that it could be a glitch or other technical issue, however, this hasn’t been confirmed by TikTok. If you want to ensure that the issue isn’t on your end, you could try deleting and reinstalling the app, turning your device off and on again, and making sure that your app is up to the latest version. If this doesn’t fix the issue, you may just have to wait for TikTok to fix it before you can see exactly who has liked your videos again.

Why has CinCinBear been banned from Twitch again? [UPDATED] – Dexerto
Why has CinCinBear been banned from Twitch again? [UPDATED] TwitchPopular Twitch personality Cinthya ‘CinCinBear’ Alicea had her account banned from the platform on September 21. Here’s everything we know. Twitch has been on a roll lately, cracking down on what they deem to be unsavory content on their platform following a string of warnings and bans. Now CinCinBear seems to be the latest channel to get caught up in a ban, as the streamer alleges she was singled out for clothing she wore which led to a suspension. CinCinBear was allegedly banned over her clothing choice The ‘Twitch Partner Bans’ Twitter account first notified everyone that the streamer’s channel had been banned, and shortly after, she allegedly took to her Discord chat where she confirmed the ban. The variety streamer alleged that she was banned over wearing a sports bra: “I got banned for the day cuz wearing a sports bra is against tos. But I wasn’t gona stream today anyways. I’ll be back tomorrow.” The Twitch streamer allegedly confirmed her ban on Discord. While it’s unclear how long her channel is suspended for, the streamer seems to suggest that she will be streaming tomorrow, making it sound like a 24 hour ban. Her audience was not happy with the ban, citing bias against clothing enforcement with female streamers. One fan on Twitter pointed argued that the Twitch community gets outraged when streamers are banned for racy jokes or rude behavior, but then say female streamers wearing shorts and a crop top are “ruining” the platform. “Preach!” Cin replied. Not the first time a streamer has been warned over sports bra While CinCinBear alleges the ban was over exercise clothing, the streaming platform warned another popular streamer Fareeha Andersen citing ‘lingerie’ and ‘underwear’ after she wore a sports bra briefly on stream, and she wasn’t too happy about it. “Because workout clothes and showing midriff=lingerie ok ok ok cool cool cool,” she tweeted on September 14, and attached the email she had received from Twitch who said she would be put in a probationary period. Because workout clothes and showing midriff=lingerie ok ok ok cool cool cool pic.twitter.com/KNSCinmMIP — Fareeha Gen.G (@AskFareeha) September 14, 2019 As of the time of writing this article, it’s not entirely clear how long CinCinBear’s channel will be suspended for. Given that another streamer was warned for the same thing she alleges, it sounds like Twitch is cracking down on exercise clothing. UPDATE 11:25AM PST SEPTEMBER 22: CinCinBear has now been unbanned from Twitch, following a day’s suspension from the platform.

Why Bryce Hall and Addison Rae unfollowed each other on social media – Dexerto
Why Bryce Hall and Addison Rae unfollowed each other on social media YouTube: Addison RaeBryce Hall and Addison Rae have become TikTok’s star couple, finally confirming their confusing romance just a few days ago — but the two have suddenly unfollowed each other on Instagram, leading to speculation among fans. Bryce and Addison — affectionately referred to as ‘Braddison’ by shippers — are two of TikTok’s most popular content creators, who were long rumored to be secretly dating despite their protests to the contrary. However, on November 30, the two confirmed that they are officially dating, and have been together for nearly two months (although they did break up earlier this year after just three days). Despite their overt affection and lovey-dovey posts online, the two suddenly unfollowed each other on Instagram, leading some fans to fear the worst. However, it seems that the “unfollowing” was all a joke, as the couple have been openly laughing about a potential “breakup date” between them following their first official romance that only lasted three days. As it turns out, the “breakup date” may have also came about as the result of an anonymous tip sent to media outlets and tea pages, which claimed that the entire “Braddison” relationship had been faked for views. “Their relationship is completely fake,” the tip reads. “I work for Addison’s management company and it’s all for publicity and drama. They even have a tentative breakup date of December 3.” Luckily, it seems that fans are taking the supposed joke well, and are pretty amused at the TikTokers for firing subtle shots at paparazzi and drama by unfollowing each other to further “stir the pot.” “At least they can take a joke,” one commenter said of the situation. “Please, they are literally trolling y’all,” another wrote. View this post on Instagram For now, it looks like the new couple is doing quite well, if their social media posts are anything to go by. Already holding photoshoots with each other and hyping each other up online, it looks like “Braddison” is here to stay after months of denial and fan speculation.

Why can’t I change my profile picture on TikTok? – Dexerto
Why can’t I change my profile picture on TikTok? TikTok / Unsplash: Tingey Injury Law FirmChanging your profile picture on TikTok is one of the best ways to customize your profile on the app, but sometimes users report errors when trying to edit it. Profile pictures are one of the first things people see when you leave a comment on a video, or when someone clicks on your profile to check out the rest of your content. Also known as PFPs, they have become so important that sometimes even entire trends are based on certain pictures, including the Hamster Cult trend, the Lana Del Rey Cult trend, among many others. You are able to change your profile picture as often as you like, so no need to worry if you’re indecisive about what you want the face of your account to be. However, over the past year in particular, users have been reporting that they are unable to change their picture due to a variety of errors. Problems changing profile pictures For some, although they seem to have successfully changed their picture in their settings, their account will not update to display the new picture. For others, they receive a message when they attempt to change it reading “profile photo/video updates are not possible at this time. Thanks for your patience!” It’s not clear exactly why this error message pops up, or why people are occasionally unable to change their picture, but it appears that it could be at least partly to do with a glitch. How to fix TikTok profile picture issue Unfortunately, as is the case for many of TikTok’s frequent glitches, there isn’t a sure-fire way to fix this problem and ensure you can change your profile picture. However, there are a few things you can try to make sure that the issue isn’t on your end. Check your internet connection — Sometimes your app may not be refreshing properly because of poor internet connection, so double check you have a strong connection and try turning off your VPN if you use one. – Delete and re-install the app — Deleting TikTok and downloading it again s a common troubleshooting method for just about any glitch on the app, so giving this a try might help to resolve the issue (Note: If you delete the app, all your saved drafts will be automatically deleted.) – Contact TikTok support — TikTok has a support account on Twitter where you could enquire about the problem if the issue is persisting, and they may be able to advise on what to do next. – If the issue is on TikTok’s end, then it may just be a case of waiting it out to see when the glitch or pause on updating profile pictures is resolved. How to remove your TikTok profile picture Unfortunately, there’s no way of completely removing your profile picture from TikTok. However, you can change your profile picture to something else. Here’s how you do it Open the TikTok app on your device and then log into your account, if not done earlier. – Go to the “Profile” tab in the bottom toolbar present on the right side. – Click on the “Edit profile” button underneath your profile picture. – Click on the change photo button, where you can also see your current profile picture. – You now have the option to take a new photo or to upload a photo to use from the photos on your device – Then finally, you can crop the picture, if you need the feel or just ignore it, and lastly, tap on the “Save.” – If you follow this way, then you can surely be able to delete your old profile picture on TikTok. If you want to learn more about how to use TikTok, check out our other guides including how to find contacts on TikTok and how to use TikTok Stories.

Why are brothers KSI and Deji arguing? History and origins of ongoing YouTube drama – Dexerto
Why are brothers KSI and Deji arguing? History and origins of ongoing YouTube drama Deji / KSI YouTubePopular Youtubers, KSI and Deji, have been going back and forth now for over 7 months, but why did it all it start? The drama between the British YouTube brothers, KSI and Deji, has spanned for months now with the pair making multiple videos and statements attacking one other, including the most recent were KSI responded to an emotional outburst from Deji. Another popular YouTuber, Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR‘ Keem, decided to make a video detailing the full timeline on why the brothers began fighting with each other in the first place, as it has now gotten to the stage where they have released private details about one another to the public. When breaking down the origins of the drama, KEEMSTAR claimed that it was Deji who was mostly to blame after he ‘overreacted’ to a joke in a Sidemen YouTube video after KSI’s friend Randolph called Deji’s channel dead. The joke lead to multiple diss tracks between the two and KEEMSTAR claimed that it was taken too far when Deji allegedly released KSI’s personal information such as his bank statements and information about his past relationships. The brothers have since gone back and forth with one another, including stooping to the level of when KSI announced he was digging up dirt to be used in exposing his brother publicly in one of his YouTube video responses. After detailing all of the context behind the Olatunji brothers’ beef, KEEMSTAR referred to everything Deji had apparently done to his sibling, stating, “It’s impossible for me to defend Deji” after he received some criticism from viewers for sound biased towards KSI in previous videos. Full video explaining the KSI vs Deji feud timeline. KEEMSTAR finished the video by giving his opinion on the feud, claiming that KSI was the victim of Deji’s attacks and that he could not side with Deji at all, saying: “For 7 months I’ve seen KSI as a victim with his brother constantly attacking him publicly over and over and over again […] When I report on news stories with Deji and KSI, it is impossible for me to be on Deji’s side.” Although many people, including KEEMSTAR, feel that Deji was in the wrong for being the first one to ‘leak’ KSI’s information to the public, a lot of them want to see the brothers resolve things between each other before it gets any worse.

Why are your PYREX dishes breaking? Company files for bankruptcy – Dexerto
Why are your PYREX dishes breaking? Company files for bankruptcy TikTok: _gothowl / DexertoFolks all across TikTok have been claiming their PYREX dishware is cracking and breaking — but why is it happening? Here’s what you need to know, and why the company is filing for bankruptcy protection. TikTok is a perfect place for foodies of all kinds to share their confectionary creations… but recently, there’s been an influx of at-home chefs claiming their supposedly indestructible PYREX dishware is faltering in a major way. Take this video from user ‘gothowl,’ for instance, who claimed that their PYREX cake pan shattered in their oven while baking a tasty treat at 325 degrees Farenheit just one minute before it was done. (Yikes, that’s painful.) However, there is an explanation for why this has been happening to so many people lately — and it was nicely laid out by another TikToker named ‘Cooking at Pam’s Place.’ What’s the difference between PYREX and Pyrex? First, let’s give an explanation as to what PYREX actually is and why it’s supposedly so great for cooking. PYREX is a brand that specializes in cookware made out of a type of borosilicate glass. Borosilicate boasts a far lower thermal expansion rate than regular tempered glass, meaning that it’s harder to break at very high and very low temperatures. For instance, when you pour hot water on a cold glass, it might shatter — but not PYREX. Although it’s been hailed as one of the number-one brands in cookware for some time, one of PYREX’s parent companies, Corning, sold licensing rights for the brand to other companies… only using lowercase lettering, of course. That’s why you’ve likely seen a ton of dishware at stores using the ‘Pyrex’ label in lowercase — but it’s not the same thing. Products sold with the lowercase ‘Pyrex’ by other companies are probably using tempered glass instead of the tried-and-true borosilicate… meaning that it’s far more likely to shatter at extreme temperatures. This fiasco comes on the heels of a big change for Pyrex’s owner, Instant Brands, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to “tighter credit and higher interest rates,” as reported by abc7news. The company will now be restructuring; but that’s not the end of the drama. The company is also involved in a Class Action lawsuit due to shattering cookware as a possible result of this PYREX vs Pyrex debacle. This is just the latest foodie fiasco to take over TikTok after a McDonald’s worker sparked a debate on the platform after claiming their ice cream machine was broken.

Why beauty YouTubers are boycotting Morphe over Jeffree Star – Dexerto
Why beauty YouTubers are boycotting Morphe over Jeffree Star Jeffree Star, YouTube[jwplayer mgzBNoPb]Makeup mogul Jeffree Star is at the center of online backlash due to purportedly being involved in the James Charles scandal of 2019 — and now, huge names in YouTube’s beauty community are boycotting one of his biggest partners. While Jeffree Star boasts a divisive past, the beauty guru has come under fire in the last few weeks after fans suspected him of orchestrating the drama surrounding James Charles in May of last year. These theories were only exacerbated after OG YouTuber Shane Dawson published a Notes post addressing the matter — which was later followed by Tati Westbrook’s exposé accusing the two of “gaslighting” her into uploading her viral “By Sister” video in 2019. Those are far from the only allegations surrounding Star; the YouTuber has also faced criticism due to purported racism, catching flak for posing with a fan wearing a Confederate flag as well as prior comments about people of color. Now, huge names in the YouTube beauty scene are dropping one of Star’s biggest affiliates, Morphe, after footage surfaced of Star claiming he was an investor in the makeup company. Jackie Aina, a massively popular YouTuber with over 3.48 million subscribers, publicly announced her separation from Morphe in a Tweet on July 2 due to the business partnering “racist” brands. “Hey boos, as some of you may know, as of this week I will no longer be a Morphe Brushes affiliate,” Aina wrote. “Code ‘EDGES’ has deactivated. I refuse to align myself with a company that continues to retail antiblack racist beauty brands. I strongly encourage other influencers to do the same!” https://twitter.com/jackieaina/status/1278762407892930561?s=20 YouTubers Chloe Morello and Amanda Ensing likewise spoke out about the issue, with both beauty gurus announcing their own break from (or complete lack of interest in) Morphe in separate posts. “How can we support a brand who supports this behavior and actions?” Ensing asked. “Your brands are a direct reflection of Morphe. Can you please take the time to explain this to the beauty community and your hard-working customers?” . @MorpheBrushes please address pic.twitter.com/2Fvyhojlvi — Amanda Ensing (@AmandaEnsing) July 1, 2020 I’ve never liked morphe so I would like to announce that I will continue to not promote morphe — Chloe (@ChloeMorello) July 2, 2020 Thus far, Star has yet to speak out concerning Tati’s allegations against him, and has even been accused of lying to his fans and hiding from the current scandal — only prompting further speculation that the beauty giant is avoiding potential consequences.

Why are TikTok live comments not showing? Users report glitch – Dexerto
Why are TikTok live comments not showing? Users report glitch Unsplash: Solen FeyissaOn May 29, many TikTok users started reporting that comments were not showing up on their lives, despite knowing that there were people watching the stream. Here’s everything you need to know. Short-form video platform TikTok is best known as being a hub of viral trends, with millions of creators uploading a variety of different types of videos for their followers. The bulk of the content on the app is made up of standard videos, which can be anywhere up to 10 minutes long, and are usually viewed via the algorithm-based For You Page. Lives are also a big part of TikTok, allowing creators that fulfill a certain set of criteria and that have over a certain number of followers to stream live through the app. You may have seen some of these lives pop up on your For You Page, too. However, on May 29, many users started reporting that comments were not appearing when running a TikTok live, despite seeking confirmation from followers that they were in fact watching and sending comments. “Fix the live glitch! I can’t see comments, likes, or viewers #tiktokdown,” one Twitter user wrote, another saying: “Everyone on TikTok live ending their lives because it won’t show comments or anything.” @tiktok_us fix the live glitch! I can’t see comments, likes, or viewers #tiktokdown — Derek Fry (@derekfrytiktok) May 30, 2022 Everyone on tiktok live ending their lives because it won’t show comments or anything 💀 #tiktok — Jeremy (@JeremyGar02) May 30, 2022 Several creators also made videos warning others experiencing that issue that they weren’t the only ones, with Down Detector showing a spike in reports. Unfortunately, it seems like there is not an immediate fix for this issue, as it appears to be fairly widespread. You can try logging out and back into your account or potentially deleting and reinstalling the app to see if that will help fix the issue, however, it is more than likely a glitch from TikTok itself. If the issue persists, you can contact TikTok via their support Twitter account. TikTok has experienced similar issues in the past, like back in March when comments on regular videos weren’t loading properly.

Why are TikTokers scared of the ‘lesbian breakup curse?’ – Dexerto
Why are TikTokers scared of the ‘lesbian breakup curse?’ INSTAGRAM: ITSJOJOSIWAAfter a recent toll of breakups from lesbian couples on TikTok, the ‘lesbian breakup curse’ has consumed many users’ lives. It all started when famous queer couple Sedona and Rylee broke up four months after celebrating their one-year anniversary. They announced their split in a viral video which garnered over 8.5 million views before it was eventually deleted. Then Alissa and Sam, another famed couple on the social media app, quietly announced they had separated. But by the time Avery and Soph broke up, many users on TikTok started to worry that a “lesbian breakup curse” could affect their own relationships too. An LGBTQ+ TikToker shared a clip, with text over her video that read: “Remixing my attitude to avoid the lesbian breakup curse that’s going around.” One user commented: “It really is contagious right now isn’t it,” to which the TikToker replied “It’s all over my fyp.” “Yup. I’m 4 days single today. Good luck out there everyone,” someone else wrote. Some believe that the supposed curse is why so many popular WLW (women-loving-women) creators have split with their girlfriends in the past few weeks. Another TikToker went viral with a video questioning why so many lesbian couples are splitting up lately. “Wtf is in the air why are all the tiktok wlw couples breaking up ?!?” she captioned her video. Someone in the comment section joked that queer icon JoJo Siwa was to blame for the breakup curse. The TikToker replied that “it did start when she said she didn’t like the word lesbian.” However, most believe the curse started when pop artist Fletcher, name-dropped her ex-girlfriend Shannon Beveridge’s current partner in her new song “Becky’s So Hot.” The origins of the ‘lesbian breakup curse’ In the song, Fletcher sings “If I were you, I’d probably want to keep her / ‘Cause Becky’s so hot in your vintage T-shirt / Ooh she’s the one I should hate / But I wanna know how she tastes.” Becky, who’s Shannon’s current partner, was asked on Instagram if Fletcher had permission to write the song about her, to which she responded “no.” The two have since fanned the flames by releasing a limited release of t-shirts with the print ‘Becky’. This was purchased by Fletcher but Shannon responded in turn by refunding the order. In the weeks that followed the release of ‘Becky’s So Hot,’ multiple popular WLW couples announced their separations. The most notable ones being Sedona and Rylee, Alissa and Samantha, and Avery and Soph. The beckyssohot hashtag has over 13 million views on TikTok now, with several users sharing videos explaining the recent “lesbian breakup drama.”

Why are the NELK Boys banned on YouTube? – Dexerto
Why are the NELK Boys banned on YouTube? NELKboys, InstagramThe NELK Boys revealed in March 2020 that they had received a one-week ban from YouTube but which video was it that landed them in hot water? Since it’s launch in 2005, YouTube has been home to pranksters pulling tricks on their friends, family, and even strangers – be it in public or at some sort of staged event. Throughout the years, many pranking channels have risen up, with the NELK Boys taking things to another level. The content collective, which has managed to amass over four million subscribers, hails from Canada but resides in Los Angeles, California. However, loyal fans might have been surprised to discover that while their YouTube channel is still up, the pranksters have been struck down with a temporary suspension. They revealed the news on March 20 via a Twitter post, noting that their recent Coronavirus video has gotten them into a little bit of trouble – forcing the boys to take it down. “F**king @YouTube banned us for a week from uploading. What a joke,” the group posted on Twitter, with screenshots of their warning – as YouTube claimed the upload violated their harmful and dangerous policy. NELK also added another screenshot, showing that they had hit with their first community strike meaning that they cannot upload or live stream for a week. Though, the strike will expire after 90 days. https://twitter.com/NelkFilmz/status/1241095836827709441 It’s not the first case of YouTuber’s getting in trouble due to the current global pandemic, with content creators revealing that they can’t even utter the name of the disease for fear of being demonetized, though some channels are able to monetize videos. Of course, they could very well have the content reviewed manually by YouTube, but they can take quite some time – especially right now. When is NELK’s YouTube ban over? The week-long ban, which is set to last until March 29, will see the NELK Boys miss out on their weekly Monday upload, meaning that fans will have to wait for new content. What they have planned for their return remains to be seen, though, they might have to be a little more careful next time around.

This time though, it’s Charli who’s been subject to bizarre social media rumors after a YouTube account proclaimed that she had passed away. A YouTube video from an account named ‘2021 vision’ was uploaded at the back end of February, with a blinking eye revealing the date March 12. Read More: Why is Salt Bae trending again? – On March 12, the account that uploaded two more videos – one saying that Charli had died in a car accident, and another claiming to be from her funeral. Both videos are 15-seconds long and have a low-fi song playing in the background as words like ‘dead’ and ‘RIP’ flash up on-screen. In total, the channel has managed to rack up around 1,000,000 million views from the videos, with plenty of concerned comments from fans of the TikToker. Charli’s dad responds to bizarre rumor As a result, fans bombarded Charli’s socials, asking if she was fine – which prompted her to private one TikTok upload following a slew of comments. Fans welcomed the tweet from the D’Amelio’s dad, dismissing the bizarre rumor. “I don’t understand why people made these stupid rumors up,” said one fan. “This is a tweet you shouldn’t even have to be tweeting. SMH. Social media is wild,” said another. https://twitter.com/marcdamelio/status/1370645826385547264 Charli responds herself The TikTok gave her own, simple response to the situation too, posting a selfie of herself on an Instagram story with the caption: “I’m alive.” Charli also tweeted “lol” as well, prompting some fans to think she was laughing at the rumors. However, she didn’t expand on that, so it’s hard to say one way or the other. View this post on Instagram

Why are streamers leaving Twitch for YouTube? For one obvious reason – Dexerto
Why are streamers leaving Twitch for YouTube? For one obvious reason Twitch / YouTubeIn 2019, Ninja and shroud were tempted away by Microsoft’s streaming platform Mixer, with big-money deals that were valuable enough to make them leave Twitch. Now, TimTheTatman and Dr Lupo have joined Dr Disrespect and CouRage on YouTube – similarly in big-money deals. When Tim’s move was announced on September 1, there were rumblings that this could signal the start of an avalanche for Twitch, with fans speculating on who would be the next domino to fall and switch allegiance from purple to red. The timing was peculiar too – Tim left Twitch on the same day as the #ADayOffTwitch protest, which saw thousands of streamers boycott the platform for 24 hours, raising awareness about the hate raids that have been targeting marginalized creators. All this made for the perfect storm, with people prematurely predicting the downfall of Twitch as a platform. Losing its biggest creators, facing backlash from smaller streamers, and being criticized by regular users all at once. Why are streamers leaving Twitch? Really though, this is all an overreaction. There is only one reason why these streamers are leaving Twitch, and it has nothing to do with hate raids, DMCA strikes, a vague banning policy, or alleged favoritism towards certain channels. The reason is that YouTube is offering these streamers enough money that they never have to worry about their sub count dropping or not having enough donations in a given month. When Valkyrae joined YouTube, the contract was so valuable that it wouldn’t matter if she had literally one viewer. “When I switched over obviously I signed a contract so I was like ‘Ok, this is for stability,’” the 100 Thieves member said. “I can do what I want and not have to worry about numbers and stuff, if I have one viewer I’ll be fine.” DrLupo was equally as transparent. “Everybody’s just trying to secure the bag, right? There’s no shame in that. That’s literally why everybody gets up and goes to work, right? So of course, the financial situation that YouTube presented me without a doubt is like, you know, I’m secure for life. Everybody’s trying to get to that point. Why would I say no to that?” It’s a big week for @YouTubeGaming! Welcome @DrLupo and @timthetatman – we’re so happy you’re joining us! pic.twitter.com/hhuEPg9dLr — Susan Wojcicki (@SusanWojcicki) September 1, 2021 In fact, if it wasn’t for these bumper contracts, it’s likely that these streamers will lose revenue from stream income alone. Dr Disrespect, who moved to YouTube not by choice following his Twitch ban, has revealed that he makes only a quarter of what he did before. In fairness, the Doc’s situation is unique, because the mystery around his ‘ban’ meant that he was less brand-friendly in the eyes of some partners, and so the loss of sponsored streams could be a factor. But still, YouTube doesn’t have the same level of monetization for streamers yet. Although it has made big strides, and will continue to make more, there’s still a long way to go. Gifted subs — a feature YouTube Gaming appears ready to implement — are huge for Twitch streamers, and inflate their sub count massively thanks to their biggest fans with the most disposable income willing to contribute more. Twitch bounties allow streamers of various sizes to take advantage of sponsored streams. Subscription loyalty benefits are incredibly powerful for keeping fans subscribed for years. The benefits of Prime Gaming are obviously unique to Twitch as well. Will YouTube overtake Twitch? If you ask YouTube, they would argue they already have. The metrics for gaming content overall is far bigger on YouTube, when you include VOD content, and especially when looking at viewership from Asia and South America. But, if we focus purely on livestream content, Twitch is still dominating. In Q2 of 2021, Twitch’s average concurrent viewership was 3 million – YouTube Gaming was only 599,000. Also, Twitch’s concurrent viewership increased from Q1, while YouTube’s saw a 5% decrease from Q1 to Q2. https://twitter.com/timthetatman/status/1433096643121909766 There’s no doubt that these numbers will grow for YouTube as they sign these big-name Twitch streamers. But, will the average livestream-watcher totally migrate from YouTube to Twitch, just because Tim and DrLupo have left? Probably not. Their hardcore fans will, but those who simply prefer Twitch are likely to find a new favorite streamer there instead. Why? Because what YouTube Gaming is yet to achieve in the livestream space is still glaringly obvious: discoverability, shareability, and community. Even during the CDL (a product YouTube paid handsomely for), CoD fans complained of it being hard to find the stream. YouTube is more than aware of these shortcomings though and is definitely working to address them. The addition of clips earlier this year was a massive improvement – but they’re still not as easily shareable as Twitch. We cannot, for example, embed a YouTube clip in this article. There is simply no embed option. Users cannot browse a streamer’s ‘best clips’ either – another much-loved function on Twitch. In terms of community, this is going to be the most difficult barrier to overcome. Twitch chat has its problems, toxicity being the main one. But there’s no doubt that the chat features are one of the site’s strong points. Channel points, polls, mods, VIPs, badges, commands, and of course, emotes, all contribute to the community engagement. Emotes might seem like a frivolous feature – how important can ‘KEKW’ and ‘PogChamp’ really be? The answer is very. YouTube has chat emotes of course, and streamers can upload their own just like Twitch, but otherwise, they’re essentially just Apple emojis (not to mention they make the stream lag when scrolling through them). YouTube is definitely a serious competitor to Twitch’s livestreaming throne, one that the Amazon-owned platform will be looking over their shoulder at. But, for now, luring a handful of big names with big contracts won’t be enough to cause a wholesale shift in viewer’s attention.

Why are people singing the ‘Nationwide’ jingle on TikTok? Viral trend explained – Dexerto
Why are people singing the ‘Nationwide’ jingle on TikTok? Viral trend explained TikTok: Josie Leinhart/NationwideTikTokers have been going viral with their takes on the classic Nationwide jingle, but where did it all start? Here’s what you need to know. Like all social media platforms, TikTok has been taken over by different trends and viral challenges at times. Some of them can be pretty extreme – we’ve seen TikTokers steal cars in the name of going viral. Others, like the Sleepy Chicken trend, are a bit more bizarre. Though, at times, we get trends that are actually quite heartwarming. The Nationwide trend – or Nationwide Challenge, to others – certainly falls on the latter half of that. It’s been spawned from the iconic Nationwide insurance adverts on US television, where it involves a catchy tune that says: Nationwide is on your side. What is the Nationwide trend on TikTok? Like a lot of TikTok trends, it has split into a few different camps. Some TikTokers have tried to replicate the original video and follow Erica and Zaya Campbell by having their kids sing the jingle in a similar manner. That was actually originally an Instagram reel, but has made its way over to TikTok. That side of the trend has attracted the #NationwideChallenge tag too. However, others have used it to show that Zaya singing the song has simply gotten it stuck in their heads. In some clips, TikTokers have joked that they’ll return home from a night out and start singing the song randomly, while others have just held the notes perfectly. In total, the clips have tacked up tens of millions of views and, while they have slowed down just a little, you’ll still see videos involving the original popping up. The trend is a bit of a throwback to the early days of TikTok, when everything was about creatives rather than it being, by extension, another social media platform for users to share everything about their lives. Plus, it always helps when there is a catchy tune involved. The easier it is to get a jingle in someone’s head, the better chance you’ve got at sticking around.

Why are Obama, Biden and Trump AI conversations going viral on TikTok? – Dexerto
Why are Obama, Biden and Trump AI conversations going viral on TikTok? Xbox WireAI-generated conversations between US presidents Obama, Biden, and Trump are taking TikTok by storm, becoming one of the app’s most popular new trends. AI is becoming more and more prominent, with programs like ChatGPT and Midjourney sparking debate across the net regarding the ethics of producing art and books via artificial intelligence programs. While several apps have gone viral for making creative portraits based on users’ photos, on top of YouTube videos using Midjourney to spawn ‘dark 80’s fantasy films’ out of pre-existing properties, another AI-based trend is taking over TikTok — and it involves three US leaders. Over the past few weeks, more and more videos have cropped up showing former US Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump playing online games with current US prez Joe Biden, and the resulting conversations are nothing short of hilarious. AI-generated Trump, Biden & Obama videos take TikTok by storm One of the more popular videos of this type shows Joe Biden and Donald Trump playing Overwatch together, resulting in humorous trash-talk between the two leaders who were placed on the same team in this fictional scenario. Still others have gone viral for showing Obama, Biden, and Trump playing a game of UNO — or at least, trying to, as Biden claims he doesn’t have it on his Xbox. So, how were these videos created? Likely, by using a tool like Murf AI, an AI voice generator program that can create conversations in a person’s voice. Although it’s unclear if Murf AI was the specific tool used for some of these clips, it can provide emphasis, interjection, and change pitch based on what a user wants, making for some highly realistic discussions. Due to the sheer hilarity of all the possibilities, users have started making their own videos of the trio in online games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, and GTA Online showing the United States presidents in some situations that are highly contradictory to their office. This is just the latest trend to take over TikTok involving US politicians after Bernie Sanders unsuspectingly walked into a TikToker’s video, which subsequently went mega-viral.

Why are Eva Cudmore and Sabrina Quesada beefing? Just a House TikTok drama explained – Dexerto
Why are Eva Cudmore and Sabrina Quesada beefing? Just a House TikTok drama explained Instagram: @eva.cudmore, sabriquesadaTikTok stars Eva Cudmore, Sabrina Quesada, and Katie Pego are involved in a triad of drama after their beef was taken to the official profile of their content house, Just a House. It’s not uncommon for TikTokers to have the occasional spat, which is sometimes spilled over on social media as things escalate. This appears to be the case with the current drama surrounding members of the “Just a House” TikTok group, after an eyebrow-raising message appeared on the house’s official TikTok profile. On June 23, fans noticed that the house’s bio was changed to a single line with quite a bit of venom behind it: “Eva ruined the house.” Instantly, fans flooded the profile’s comments asking about why drama between the influencers was appearing in such a public manner… an incident that became even more confusing when Eva Cudmore — the TikToker accused of “ruining” the group — claimed that the House’s profile had been “hacked.” View this post on Instagram Cudmore took to a live stream to explain her side of the story shortly thereafter, claiming that she’d duetted a video with fellow TikToker Katie Pego. In the video, she’d complimented Katie. According to Eva, this apparently set off Sabrina Quesada, who Eva said had unfollowed her on all social media after taking issue with the fact she’d given Katie a flattering compliment. View this post on Instagram Sabrina took to social media to clear up the situation, claiming that Katie had been “a very toxic friend to me and to many other girls and this was the last straw.” Sabrina alleged that Eva had claimed she wouldn’t “associate herself with her” as a result of this, but found Eva’s TikTok with Katie to be “odd and two-sided.” View this post on Instagram Quesada later went live to discuss the situation, and was exasperated that the drama had been taken to social media. Things came to a head after Devyn Winkler, along with two other Just a House members, uploaded a video announcing that the house was “over” and that they are “on to new beginnings.” It appears that the drama was too much for the group to stick together, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the former Just a House fam.

Why are Nikita Dragun and Daisy Keech feuding? – Dexerto
Why are Nikita Dragun and Daisy Keech feuding? Nikita Dragun, Daisy Keech – YouTube[jwplayer mgzBNoPb]YouTuber Nikita Dragun and TikTokker Daisy Keech appear to be in the middle of an ongoing feud — and it all centers around Dragun’s ex-boyfriend, model and reality TV star Michael Yerger. The drama began on June 14, after Keech posed for a photo with her new beau in the tropical scenery of Tulum, Mexico, captioning the steamy pic, “Papi.” However, it doesn’t seem like their new romance is sitting well with Dragun, who appeared to hit out at the duo in a shady tweet a day later. “I ain’t even mad when I see my ex with another girl,” she wrote. “Like you ‘bout to be just as embarrassed as I was when you find out what he’s really about.” That wasn’t the only shade she threw toward the couple, either, going on to address the issue in an Instagram comment shortly thereafter. https://www.instagram.com/p/CBYqY_TJxKH/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “He is the most respectful,” Nikita replied to a fan. “Just tired of seeing other girls get played… makes me mad.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CBb6KMant-b/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Keech quickly caught on to Dragun’s thinly-veiled shade and quote-retweeted her post with a response of her own, taking the “kill them with kindness” route: “Nikita, whatever happened is in the past. There’s no need to tear others down. I hope you can move on and be happy. We truly wish you the best.” Nikita, what ever happened is in the past. There’s no need to tear others down. I hope you can move on and be happy. We truly wish you the best ❤️ https://t.co/wXDKcBWfLQ — dais (@DaisyKeech) June 15, 2020 That’s not all; even Yerger himself replied to Dragun’s post: “You still love using that word ‘ex.’ Lmfao, it’s been far too long to keep bugging about an old hoax. Wish you the best Nikita.” The “hoax” that Yerger mention refers to the beginning of his relationship with Dragun in October 2018, after the makeup mogul admitted that she’d hired him to pose as her boyfriend. you still love using that word “ex” lmfaoo it’s been far too long to keep bugging about an old hoax. wish you the best nikita — Michael Yerger (@michaeleyerger) June 15, 2020 While Dragun claimed that the two had begun to develop romantic feelings for each other over time, Yerger argued that their relationship was never the real deal: “A few tags from her and she was opening doors for me left and right. Adin Ross perma banned on Twitch over unmoderated hateful conduct in chat – Dexerto
Adin Ross perma banned on Twitch over unmoderated hateful conduct in chat YouTube: Full Send PodcastAdin Ross’ permanent ban on Twitch was the result of unmoderated hateful conduct on his broadcast, according to sources. After rumors of Adin Ross moving his community from Twitch to Kick began making their way around the internet, Adin uploaded a video revealing his final decision. Just three days later, Adin Ross was hit with a permanent ban from Twitch which he says happened for “no reason,” before explaining that it was due to a stream incident. Sources have since told Dexerto why the ban was given, detailing the incident that led to Adin’s permanent ban from the purple app. Why was Adin Ross perma banned on Twitch? A Twitch spokesperson told Dexerto that Adin Ross was banned after showing unmoderated hateful conduct in chat. “Per our Community Guidelines, unmoderated Hateful Conduct in chat, such as racist and anti-semitic messages, is not allowed on Twitch,” they explained. Other sources shared that on February 24, Adin was streaming on Twitch when he knowingly showed chat from his Kick channel for over 20 minutes. During that time, the influencer did not moderate the chat he was showing while it included multiple racist and anti-semitic comments. He didn’t condemn or stop showing his chat, which is against Twitch community guidelines. According to the guidelines: “Twitch does not permit behavior that is motivated by hatred, prejudice or intolerance, including behavior that promotes or encourages discrimination, denigration, harassment, or violence based on the following protected characteristics: race, ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious medical condition, and veteran status.” Adin has made it clear that he’s not bothered by the ban, as he’s secured his spot on Kick alongside fellow creators Trainwreck and Corinna Kopf with plans to stay on the site for the foreseeable future.

Jonathan Klaasen is a musician well known for his appearance on the X Factor in 2013. The other members are multi-talented dancers, photographers, and pranksters. When did the Shluv House start? The Shluv Gang has been around for much longer than the house. It is essentially the collective name for fans and the group of creators surrounding Michael Le. Merchandise for the group was launched as “Shluv Clothing” in March this year. Micheal Le announced the Shluv House on his social media just after they moved in, in May. He said: “I now introduce to you the Shluv house. This is the biggest accomplishment of my life that’s happened so far. words cannot express how happy and how thankful I am because of social media, my family, my friends, and all my fans. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_0oSyyJcna/ “This house is the result of all my hard work, dedication to my dreams, and perseverance through every single obstacle that was thrown my way. I can’t wait to show you guys what I have planned for this new chapter of my life, but all I can say, for now, is thank you” The Shluv house joins other major TikTok content houses in Los Angeles including the Hype House, Sway House, and Clubhouse. The Hype House is the most high-profile with popular Tiktokkers such as Chase Hudson and Addison Rae, but their ranks are changing with lots of new faces joining and some old faces leaving. Sway House has also had two critical members leave, and there are rumours of the Hype House and Sway House joining forces to create the “Swype House”.

TikTok houses: Hype House members, Clubhouse, more – Dexerto
TikTok houses: Hype House members, Clubhouse, more TikTokThe phenomenon of a house for online creators to live together and collaborate isn’t new. Before the Hype House, there was Team 10, Clout House, and Vlog Squad. But new houses for TikTok’s biggest stars are popping up all the time. Here is an updated list of all the TikTok collectives you need to know about, what they do and who their members are, in Los Angeles and beyond. Contents Hype House The Hype House, which started in December, is the most popular TikTok collective comprising some of the most followed TikTokers ever. Addison Rae currently stands as the second most followed creator on the app, while Chase Hudson continues to climb the follower ladder. The group has recently moved out of their prior home, the former Clout House in Los Angeles, and make dance and lip-sync videos. Some of the house’s top creators, including Bryce Hall, removed Sway House from their Instagram profiles. With Gray tweeting ‘all good things must come to an end’, it was looking grim for the hit creator house. Bryce Hall has since squashed this as a fervent rumor, claiming all of Sway’s members are still in the group. Sway House’s TikTok is relatively inactive these days, though. Despite this, their Instagram continues to be active, and the members still live and hang out together. Members Ehiz Ufuah – Elouise Fouladgar – Zack Fairhurst – Reagan Yorke – James ‘Jimbo’ Hall – Icon House Icon house is a UK-based creator collective that launched in October 2020. Originally, after some members of staff were “removed” from the management company, five of the girls returned to form this newer version of the house. Now, however, it seems as if the group is set to dissolve. Their social media pages have been deleted, and Devyn Winkler announced over on TikTok that the house was “over”, stating that they are moving on to “new beginnings.” Members The 615 House The 615 House is a group of country musicians that live together in Nashville. Wholesome YouTube dad goes viral for teaching basic life skills – Dexerto
Wholesome YouTube dad goes viral for teaching basic life skills Facebook: Dad, How Do I?A YouTube account called “Dad, How do I,” in which an American dad offers advice on how to do things typically taught by someone’s father, has gone viral for his heartwarming content, becoming an overnight internet sensation. It’s alleged that Rob Kenney, who runs the account, was left by his Dad at the age of 12, which serves as the inspiration for starting the account. So far, ‘Dad, How Do I?’ has posted just 13 videos, but has managed to amass well over 1.2 million views since posting the first earlier in April 2020. At the time of writing, Kenney’s latest video – simply saying thank you to the many thousands who have shared their admiration or gratitude for his content – is #7 on YouTube’s Trending page, with his name alongside the likes of KSI and Harry Styles. In the video, he explains that many of the things he teaches on his YouTube channel are simply things he had to figure out growing up, acknowledging that others are in similar positions and might appreciate the help that he wasn’t able to get. Clearly, he’s right. Thus far, the channel’s most-viewed video (not including the currently Trending one) is his second most recent one: “How to fix most running toilets.” As with all his videos, this one does exactly what it says on the tin, and clearly has resonated with thousands of people across the globe, not just as an educational product but for what the channel itself represents. Since his first upload on April 2, Kenney has amassed almost 900,000 subscribers at the time of writing, quickly closing in on the incredible 1 million milestone. He has been making local news in Chicago and his story is spreading like wildfire and, in truth, you can’t say he doesn’t deserve all the love and respect he’s earned off the back of his efforts.
