With a verified checkmark added in just a matter of hours, it didn’t take long for Holland’s brand new account to explode. On top of his Instagram and Twitter accounts, TikTok now marks his third active platform. Though there’s no indication it’s actually the real him just yet. Despite following 13 accounts and already having a simple biography, Holland’s TikTok account appears to be the next step in a viral marketing campaign for the latest Spider-Man movie. TikTok is one of many media giants investing in No Way Home’s hefty $200+ million promotion. Outside of video advertisements, the social platform has crafted multiple accounts to push the movie in different ways. From a Daily Bugle account to an official No Way Home account, and now, Holland’s own TikTok profile could be the final step. There’s no telling right now if the actor himself has any control over the output, nor if it will continue to be used after the film’s cinema run comes to an end. TikTok responds to reports that toddlers are using the app Unsplash: McKaela TaylorTikTok has responded after an Ofcom report revealed that 16% percent of British children aged 3-4 used the app in 2021, despite the app being strictly 13+. In recent years, TikTok has managed to absolutely dominate the world of social media, becoming one of the most used apps and having an extraordinary influence on media and popular culture. However, the platform has been heavily criticized on multiple occasions as a result of the huge number of dangerous trends that populate the app, with parents concerned about the risk that some of the content may pose to their children. Now, the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom has released a report which revealed that British children as young as three are using the app, prompting even greater concern about child safety on the platform. In the ‘Children and parents: media use and attitudes report’ released on March 30, Ofcom claimed that “half of children aged 3-17 used TikTok in 2021,” adding that “use ranged from less than a fifth of 3-4s (16%), to half of 8-11s (51%), to three-quarters of 16-17s (74%).” These figures could include parents or older figures showing children videos on the app, and doesn’t necessarily mean that they have their own account, as parents answered on behalf of the 3-7-year-olds as part of this study. The streamer instantly rocketed to the top of Twitch’s fastest-growing creators but he revealed on his Twitch bio that he was being targeted by a troll who was likely trying to get him banned. “Almost all of these follows are bots from a guy harassing me.” he admitted, apologizing for the unusual circumstance, “Sorry, for the confusion.” Shortly after the channel was botted, a correction was made to KlarcTheKid’s follower count, removing almost half of his unexpected increase, but his channel has still gained over 2 million followers compared to the hundreds of fans he had before.
