Police arrested Johntae Kavon Collier and Eric Dodds in Huntsville, Alabama, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced on August 25. According to Radar, the couple, both 23, were arrested on August 10 and August 16, respectively, in connection to the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Dakota Bradshaw on August 1. Witnesses nearby at the time of the shooting saw a red truck and a blue Dodge Challenger, suspected to be driven by the couple, speeding away from Dakota’s home shortly after the initial reports of gunfire. Johntae and Eric went viral on TikTok for their pro-LGBTQ+ content, before being arrested and placed behind bars earlier this month. They have over 800,000 thousand followers on the social media app, and following Johntae’s arrest, Eric posted a video to claim that his boyfriend is innocent. “For the past couple of days in the media, I’ve been seeing a lot of things about John and ya’ll are concerned about John. ‘Is he okay? Has he harmed anyone?’ No, he has not done anything to no one. Ya’ll know John – John would not harm a soul,” he said. Eric continued: “John is okay. I am okay, you guys. Everything is good. My baby will be home soon.” He set up a GoFundMe page in an effort to prove Johntae’s innocence. However, a few days later, Eric was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Huntsville. • TikTok couple discover ‘creepy’ hidden rooms in their 130-year-old home – Dexerto

TikTok couple discover ‘creepy’ hidden rooms in their 130-year-old home TIKTOK: living_in_historyA couple went viral on TikTok after discovering a series of ‘secret rooms’ in their 130-year-old home, receiving a letter from the previous owner that informed them of their existence. Courtney and Matt found hidden rooms, hideaways and compartments in their home, thanks to an unexpected message from the “last surviving member” of the family that previously owned it. “We got a letter addressed ‘purchaser.’ It’s all the way from Canada,” Courtney began in a viral clip with 1.8 million views. “It says, ‘Let me introduce myself. I am the last surviving member of the Madison family who once owned the house, and I grew up in it,’” read the letter. “‘I would like to … tell you about the secret rooms and a few things you may not have been told when you bought the house.’” It went on to inform them about three “secret rooms, including a compartment in the fireplace in the parlour downstairs.” In another video, Courtney and Matt toured their new home to uncover them. First, they found a secret liquor cabinet above the fireplace in their front parlor, which was tucked away behind a sliding, mirrored panel. It contained a tonne of old bottles of beer and alcohol, including unopened bottles of French rose wine from 1970. Next, the letter led them to a secret room found “in the washroom directly opposite the door in the wall,” which Courtney deemed “by far the scariest room.” However, when the couple uncovered the hidden escape in their bathroom, it turned out to be a small crawl space rather than a room. “My guess is there probably used to be some kind of room up here, but really, it’s just a creepy attic space,” Courtney said. She then unearthed a tiny, locked door placed directly opposite their toilet. The small entrance opened up to a trunk room. “There is this huge space,” Courtney exclaimed in the TikTok clip. “We’re going to try and figure out how to use this space, but right now it’s just kind of a cool, cool room.” As for the third room, the couple revealed on TikTok that “the room that [reportedly] was inside is actually full of furniture, and we’re not able to access it right now.” They promised to give their followers an update if and when they were able to access it. • TikTok couple buys ‘best vending machine ever’ for just $250 and set bizarre prices – Dexerto

TikTok couple buys ‘best vending machine ever’ for just $250 and set bizarre prices TikTok/jadedavis0802A TikTok couple is going viral after they got a steal of a deal on a vending machine and proceeded to load it up with goodies in what fans are calling the “best vending machine ever.” Sometimes, a deal is too good to pass up on and that’s what happened to TikToker Jade Davis and her fiancé when they bought a vending machine for the lost price of $250. In a viral TikTok making rounds on the platform with nearly 3 million views, Jade explained how they bought a vending machine and were at Sam’s Club to fill it up with items. In total, they spent $315 in snacks plus a $45 membership, but the goodies inside are nothing to scoff at, especially with the TikTokers fulfilling requests from fans at what to add. However, it’s the prices that have the world talking. (click here if TikTok fails to load) TikTok couple makes “best vending machine” ever After loading it up with Sour Patch Kids, Taki’s, Reese’s, and even Danishes, the duo revealed their prices and users on TikTok were baffled at how low the items were selling for. For instance, a bag of chips only costs a customer $0.75, a fraction of what the snack normally retails for at other machines. That might explain why after their first restock, the couple did the math and determined that they’d made around $150 in revenue thus far. (click here if TikTok fails to load) Jade explained the reason for the low prices in the comments, writing: “Everyone has been saying we need to raise our prices. We took this over from someone that had been running it for years and we are keeping it in the same place. So we have to slowly raise them in order to not cause people to be super pissed off at us.” Still, fans cannot get over the variety of the treats in the vending machine, with one user calling it the “best vending machine” she’s ever seen. While the couple plan to raise prices over time, there’s no denying that for the time being, it’s one of the best-valued vending machines of all time and TikTok agrees.

Naturally, the internet has started some rumors about the post, suggesting that the TikToker’s boyfriend was being a bit suspect as she walked in, claiming that there are red flags all over the scene given he’s sat with other girls. Though, she’s not having it. What is the original Couch Guy TikTok video? As noted, the original Couch Guy post has spread far and wide, especially on TikTok where the video has 32 million views and has become the launching point for many stitches and reposts. In the wake of all of the True Crime-like breakdown of her video, the TikToker jumped into the comments of her original post and addressed some of the wild claims being made about her boyfriend and the negativity around the post. “Breaks my heart that people can watch a special moment and bring so much negativity. Please think before you assume anything about my relationship,” Lauren said before following that up shortly after. “As for the phone comment, his phone was in his lap:) thanks for the concerns though! and no I’m not in denial.” Couch Guy responds to TikTok theories She even made a duet post with ‘Couch Guy’ where they poked fun at some of the rumors. Robbie himself urged viewers to not be a “parasocial creep” and to “go get some fresh air” instead of continuing to break down the post. Naturally, some TikTok users were split on the post. “Girl, you trying to convince us or yourself?” asked one skeptical viewer. “We’re all here to talk when you’re ready,” added another skeptic. “Honestly, I’ve been with my bf for 7 years and I feel like he would give exact same reaction as yours did. you’re strong for not letting this get to u,” commented one supportive viewer. Lauren has urged TikTokers to “stop the hate” surrounding the post as well, given people are not letting up with their wild accusations. Though, that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

  • TikTok could be banned in the US today: 6 takeaways from latest lawsuit – Dexerto

TikTok could be banned in the US today: 6 takeaways from latest lawsuit UnsplashThe dust has settled on the US presidential election, but one key element of the current administration remains outstanding: the ongoing attempt to ban TikTok from the United States. TikTok has been battling the US president and the Commerce Secretary, Wilbur Ross, in multiple lawsuits for the last several months since the president said he thought the app was a national security risk, a claim which TikTok strenuously denies. A deadline, set earlier this summer, by which TikTok must have sold itself or shut down in the US falls today on Thursday, November 12. The company says they’ve not heard from the US administration about their ban, and have been forced to file an appeal in the District of Columbia circuit court of appeals to prevent them having to shut down. Within the appeal, they explain the process they’ve encountered when dealing with the US government and reveal new details we haven’t heard before about the app’s history and its process of being banned. Extra detail on user number Right now, there are 98 million monthly active users in the United States. Those numbers are highlighted by TikTok’s lawyers as part of its vitality to American (and global) culture. The userbase, which has grown from the 9.9 million users TikTok inherited when it acquired Musical.ly in November 2017, makes “TikTok the fastest growing app in the country during that period,” they say. Not all those Musical.ly users are still there Just a third of Musical.ly’s userbase migrated over to TikTok when the latter bought the former app. “Only 3.2 million of TikTok’s 98 million monthly active U.S. users had a Musical.ly app account at the time of the transaction,” admit TikTok’s legal team. When TikTok bought Musical.ly, it had 20 US employees In November 2017, TikTok acquired Musical.ly and its staff. But only a handful were in the United States. “Out of nearly 300 Musical.ly company employees worldwide, 20 were based in the United States, and they were not responsible for core operations, such as software and product development,” they say. TikTok subsumed Musical.ly – entirely “At the time of the acquisition, ByteDance examined the Musical.ly app’s source code and determined that Musical.ly’s platform—the mobile software application, server and data storage infrastructure, and its algorithm powering recommendations for user content—was technically and commercially inferior to TikTok,” says the appeal. TikTok spent $300 million on advertising in the US last year Before TikTok acquired Musical.ly, Musical.ly had spent a significant amount of money – $300,000 – on advertising its app in the United States. But as TikTok has grown in stature, and ByteDance has funded its growth, that’s increased dramatically. In 2019, TikTok confirmed it spent $300 million on advertising in the United States: $820,000 a day. TikTok has supplied four possible solutions to the US’s concerns Throughout the process of the last few months, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance have submitted four separate “mitigation proposals” to try and prevent its banning in the country. The latest was proposed on November 6, and “contemplated addressing the purported national security concerns through a restructuring of TikTok U.S. by creating a new entity, wholly owned by Oracle, Walmart and existing U.S. investors in ByteDance, that would be responsible for handling TikTok’s U.S. user data and content moderation.” To date, nothing has happened about it.

  • TikTok’s Couch Guy slams internet for ‘gaslighting’ as viral video hits 50m views – Dexerto

TikTok’s Couch Guy slams internet for ‘gaslighting’ as viral video hits 50m views TikTok: laurenzarrasRobbie a.k.a. TikTok’s ‘Couch Guy’ has continued to hit out against backlash toward him online, after a video of his girlfriend surprising him at college went viral. If you somehow managed to miss it, the viral Couch Guy meme all started on September 22 when TikTok user Lauren Zarras uploaded a video of her surprising her boyfriend at college, with heartwarming music playing in the background. However, the video quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons. Many claimed that boyfriend Robbie’s reaction was less than enthusiastic, with some going as far as to analyze the video in detail in an attempt to identify ‘red flags.’ The video has completely dominated countless peoples’ For You Pages, with many even making their own parodies of the viral video. The original TikTok now has over 50 million views as people continue to speculate about what the truth of the situation really is. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load Lauren told viewers that she’s “not in denial,” and Robbie himself even made a video telling people not to be a “parasocial creep” and to “go get some fresh air”—however, users remain skeptical. On October 3, the now dubbed ‘Couch Guy’ went on to hit out at the backlash against him in a new video uploaded to his TikTok account, in which he asked if people “know what gaslighting means” after being accused of gaslighting both his girlfriend and viewers. “Are you being gaslit if… someone on the internet tells you to get some fresh air after you scrutinize their private life. Or are you being gaslit if… thousands of strangers call you delusional for claiming to know your own relationship better than they do,” he wrote. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load “Now he’s trying to gaslight us about gaslighting us and the definition of gaslighting omg,” one comment with over 70,000 likes reads. “This is the strangest damage control I’ve ever witnessed,” another wrote. The view count of the original TikTok is showing no signs of slowing down, and as the couple continues to respond to the situation, viewers are becoming more and more invested.

  • TikTok’s ‘Couch Guy’ obsession is what happens when trends go too far – Dexerto

TikTok’s ‘Couch Guy’ obsession is what happens when trends go too far TikTok: laurenzarrasWithin the space of a few days, college student Robbie—now dubbed ‘Couch Guy’— became TikTok’s public enemy No. 1. But, as theories about his fidelity become more elaborate and thousands of internet sleuths continue to gather their ‘evidence,’ has it all gone too far? On September 21, the internet was first introduced to ‘Couch Guy.’ In a video that millions have no doubt accidentally (or perhaps intentionally) memorized by now, TikTok user Lauren Zarras surprised her boyfriend, Robbie, at his college dorm. Despite Lauren clearly being pleased enough with the reunion to upload it online for the world to see—even pairing the clip with Ellie Goulding’s emotional track ‘Still Falling For You,’—the internet was not at all happy with Robbie’s understated reaction. The video was flooded with thousands upon thousands of comments warning Lauren that the situation was full of ‘red flags,’ with many even suggesting that Robbie was cheating on her based on the reactions of the girls sitting next to him on the couch. “Breaks my heart that people can watch a special moment and bring so much negativity. Please think before you assume anything about my relationship,” Lauren responded, in a comment that is now being used as a meme beneath countless videos across TikTok. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load The original post now stands at a whopping 60 million views, 5 million likes, and 127,000 comments, with users across the app claiming their For You Page has been nothing but videos about the viral footage. As the view count soared, and people became more invested in the relationship, people even started making posts breaking down the minute details of the video in an attempt to prove once and for all that Robbie was cheating. From an alleged ‘hair tie’ on his wrist to the exact position of his phone in each frame of the video, no pixel was left unturned. “Not everything is true crime,” was the response from Couch Guy himself. “Don’t be a parasocial creep. Go get some fresh air.” Lauren has described it as a “horrible” situation. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load The comparison to true crime is a sentiment echoed by thousands of critics of the whole phenomenon. It’s not lost on people that the Couch Guy situation comes in the wake of the tragic murder of 22-year-old influencer Gabby Petito, where for a period of several days armchair detectives were analyzing every piece of evidence they could, racking up millions of views on TikTok. The intensity with which people are investigating Couch Guy is almost at the same degree with which they were investigating an actual crime, and many are urging others to take a step back from the drama whirlpool and put things into perspective. Some defend the criticism of the video and the over-analysis of Robbie’s behavior by suggesting that the couple are benefitting from the attention. Lauren has gone on to release merchandise inspired by the meme, and Robbie has joked about receiving money from TikTok’s creator fund. But a significant issue with this mindset is that people had no way of predicting how the response would affect the lives of the real people in this video before it blew up. Social media users are increasingly abandoning the classic warning to not judge people’s entire lives based on out-of-context videos, in favor of the more ‘entertaining’ conspiracy option. People love a mystery. We love drama, and we love puzzles. Couch Guy has all the appeal of a real crime case without any of the implications of an actual crime. And sure, it’s fun to speculate over Squid Game theories, but for many, fiction isn’t quite as compelling as a real-life drama. The issue is, situations like this are inadvertently discouraging us from taking a much-needed step back from the black hole that is internet drama, and perhaps causing us to turn a blind eye to the repercussions this could have on the real people involved. Read More: Most liked TikToks: Top 20 viral videos – The internet is still firmly divided over the whole debacle, with some urging people to leave the couple alone now, and others maintaining that it’s all in good humor. But as the view count on the original video starts to slow, and people begin to lose interest in the drama, many have been left wondering—what, or who, is next?

  • TikTok convinced woman’s fiancé is cheating after she discovers mysterious hair clip – Dexerto

TikTok convinced woman’s fiancé is cheating after she discovers mysterious hair clip TikTok: sarahshoootsTikTok was convinced that a woman’s fiancé was cheating on her after she discovered a hair clip that didn’t belong to her in her car — which he’d borrowed the week prior. The internet got super invested in one woman’s relationship after she created a TikTok about a discovery she’d made in her car. On Sunday, November 5, user ‘sarashooots’ claimed that she was de-cluttering her car when she discovered a black and white checkered hair clip that didn’t belong to her. Curious, she asked around to see if it belonged to a friend, her sister, or anyone she might know and drive with on a regular basis… but no one owned up to it. TikTok convinced woman’s fiancé cheated on her due to mystery hair clip She then remembered that her boyfriend (who is actually her fiancé) had borrowed her car a week prior to her discovery, leading her to worry that something scummy might be afoot. Sarah also inferred that the owner of the clip might be a Gen-Zer, owing to its checkered pattern, and suspected that they might have long hair. Commenters were quick to speculate that Sarah’s man was likely cheating on her, with one user writing, “GIRL, you already know the answer.” “The clip is basically a ‘hey girl’ text,” another wrote. “OOOOH, she sacrificed it to let you know,” yet another concluded. Sarah’s video garnered over 8 million views since being posted — but the situation received an unexpected ending not long afterwards. Later that day, Sarah updated her viewers on the situation, claiming that her friend ‘Kenda’ claimed ownership of the infamous clip. Apparently, Kenda had lost it when they drove up to a farm on August 12 — although Sarah claims she’s had her car professionally cleaned twice since then. However, that wasn’t the most shocking aspect of Sarah’s update. The TikToker went on to explain that she’s been with her now-fiance for ten years — and had actually cheated on him five years ago. Now, she says that she and her future hubby are in the best place they’ve ever been… but her admission left quite a few viewers totally bamboozled. Luckily, it doesn’t look like anything was afoot in this situation, although she certainly threw TikTok for a loop.

  • TikTok continues dominance over Instagram with massive growth – Dexerto

TikTok continues dominance over Instagram with massive growth Pixabay: Instagram, TikTokEvery social media app is fighting for attention, but the Vine-inspired TikTok is quickly emerging as one of the most popular apps on the planet. Now, it seems it might be shifting the tide when it comes to facing off against Instagram. Apps like Vine and Musically have come and gone, but their successor TikTok has continued to usher in the laughs, creativity, and absurdness of the internet. The short clips – be they hilarious pranks or impressive dances – have become the go-to for many users, with TikTok’s formula for success being followed by other platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. However, Instagram might be about to be kicked off the social media throne, as a new study has revealed incredible insight into the rise of TikTok. TikTok usage is “spiking” over Instagram TikTok and Instagram both allow users to share snippets of their life, creative shorts, and so much more. While social media giant Facebook has ownership of Instagram, their efforts to appeal to a younger audience might be wasted, as a study from Forrester has revealed that “63% of Americans between the ages of 12 and 17 used TikTok on a weekly basis.” Comparatively, Instagram saw 57% of young Americans using the app. In 2020 Instagram reigned over TikTok with 60% usage, while the latter weighed in at 50% when it come to kids using the apps. There are many factors that could have affected this change, but interesting, the study notes that users associated “fun” and “funny” with TikTok more than Instagram. It’s no surprise that TikTok is impressing users, as the platform is home to a wealth of content creators and celebrities like Charlie D’Amelio, Will Smith, The Rock, and South Korean pop superstars BTS. The app still has aways to go before it is the all-conquering social media platform of choice, but it is making its mark.

  • TikTok comes after YouTube with landscape video testing – Dexerto

TikTok comes after YouTube with landscape video testing TikTok: SolenFeyissaTikTok is coming after a piece of YouTube’s pie as they have revealed new landscape video options will be coming to the popular app. Over the last couple of years, TikTok and YouTube have been going back and forth with who can build the best short-form video platform. Now, TikTok is coming after YouTube yet again with their latest update to videos on the platform. The popular app has begun testing the option to turn videos on the FYP full screen, giving users a better viewing experience for certain videos. TikTok is testing landscape videos According to TechCrunch, TikTok’s new landscape mode has entered testing with select users throughout the world. Users who have access to the feature will see a dedicated “full screen” button appear on videos that are not formatted vertically. Once you click the button, the video will rotate and allow users to see it better. This further supports TikTok’s 10-minute video length that launched earlier in 2022, allowing creators to publish more long-form content on the platform. As with other features tested out by TikTok since 2016, it’s unknown whether or not the company will decide to roll this feature out widely, take the time to perfect it, or cancel it completely. With the recent addition of various US Senate bills threatening to ban the app from the United States of America, it remains uncertain if Americans will ever see landscape mode anyway. TikTok users divided over new comment dislike button test Unsplash: Olivier Bergeron / TikTok: mamma_mia_0TikTok has revealed that it is testing a new dislike button to help users “identify comments they believe to be irrelevant or inappropriate,” but not everyone is a fan of the idea. ByteDance-owned app TikTok is constantly evolving, and new features are being added on a regular basis that aim to improve the overall user experience, as well as help people make a wide range of content using a host of different tools. However, if you’ve spent any amount of time on the app you’ll know that while there is plenty of great content and largely positive communities on TikTok, it can also be a hugely toxic place — this is especially true for comment sections. In a blog post on April 13, TikTok revealed that in an attempt to foster authentic engagement in comments, they are testing a feature which will, “let individuals identify comments they believe to be irrelevant or inappropriate.” They added that: “To avoid creating ill-feeling between community members or demoralize creators, only the person who registered a dislike on a comment will be able to see that they have done so.” Some people have reported that they’ve already been given access to the feature, which appears in the form of a thumbs-down symbol, however, the community is split on whether it is a good thing. “I’m sorry you can DISLIKE comments now?” one user wrote in the caption of their video from March. “TikTok has the most negative and aggressive users, and y’all thought it was a good idea to give them a dislike button?” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load However, one commenter disagreed, stating that “it helps way more than it hurts – unnecessarily mean, trolling, hateful, and misinformed comments can be disliked and push further down the feed.” Others even proposed that there’s “no need” for the feature, given that the number of dislikes is hidden, although that doesn’t seem to be the feature’s primary purpose. Read More: How to find contacts on TikTok – Only time will tell whether the feature is a success, as it is rolled out to more users across the globe. In February, some TikTok users weren’t happy when the app revealed it was bringing back their ‘profile views’ feature that allows you to see who’s looking at your profile, but this time around it’s on an opt-in basis.

  • TikTok comedian goes viral by “scamming scammers” before reporting them to police – Dexerto

TikTok comedian goes viral by “scamming scammers” before reporting them to police YouthPastorRyan / TikTokPopular TikToker YouthPastorRyan has found a new way of using his master’s degree, as his new TikTok series sees him scamming scammers before turning them into the authorities. Over the last few years, YouthPastorRyan, whose real name is Ryan Kelly, has gained a sizable following on TikTok of 4.9 million fans thanks to his stories about working at Disney, comedy skits, and collaborations with other creators. But Ryan, who has a master’s degree in homeland security, recently started a new series on his platform where he talks through his process of “scamming the scammers”. In the first video in the series, Ryan showed an email he’d gotten that asked him to invest money into a company. With Gmail flagging the email as “seeming dangerous”, Ryan said: “I don’t wanna seem paranoid, but something with this email just seem a little suspicious. Turns out they want me to sign up for an account and invest some money with them, but also create a video so that I can help other people get into the scam.” The rest of the video shows Ryan gaining the trust of the scammers, before tricking them with fake links to get their IP address and location. He also did send them a video. Since he was fairly certain the scammers didn’t speak English, Ryan took to his comedic talents to make a satiric video about the “company” behind the scam, just talking about all of the sketchy things about the company – but with a sarcastic tone. Ryan Kelly gets revenge on a scammer that scammed another TikToker In a recent video in the scammer series, Ryan replies to a video by TikTok user Kouvr who revealed how she’d been scammed for money after thinking she was getting a dog. In response, Ryan contacted the same dog scammer to express interest in a dog named Milo – the same dog as Kouvr was interested in. As the scammers requested money for Milo, Ryan sent them a fake CashApp link which allowed him to get the scammer’s IP address and location, and find out what platform and device they were using. “Unless you were expecting your dog to come from Douala, Cameroon, it’s not happening. However I wake up every day wanting puppies and vengeance, and thanks to this person, I’m all out of puppies, so let’s do it,” Ryan said. He then went on to explain how he managed to get more information about the scammer to then use to monitor the account as well as delete all emails which referred to Milo in the hopes of preventing more people from getting scammed.

  • Does TikTok’s viral coffee lemon weight loss drink actually work? – Dexerto

Does TikTok’s viral coffee lemon weight loss drink actually work? TikTok: lizzylizzylizzy_ / zamansbusykitchenSome TikTok users are claiming that a mixture of black coffee and lemon juice will help people to lose weight, however, experts are calling the drink trend “nonsense.” TikTok is becoming one of the best places to find recipes for both food and drink online, with a huge backlog of viral videos just a search away. There have been plenty of drinks to go viral on the app, such as Dalgona Coffee, as well as the bizarre orange juice and coffee mix that some claimed was surprisingly good. Another coffee concoction that has done the rounds on TikTok is the coffee lemon drink, which some users have claimed will help people to lose weight. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load People have claimed you can get a “flat tummy” by putting lemon juice in black coffee and then drinking it on an empty stomach in the morning, with some even boasting how much weight they’ve lost since using the method. Many of the videos including the recipe have garnered millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes. However, for obvious reasons, many are not convinced by the recipe, including exercise physiologist and sports nutritionist Dr. Mayur Ranchordas, who told The Sun in 2021 that the trend is “nonsense.” “It’s the biggest load of nonsense,” he said. “From a scientific perspective, there are no foods that can burn fat, that’s just not possible. These are just marketing videos to sell products. There is no evidence that if you carried on your lifestyle and drank this drink, you would lose weight.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load Regarding weight loss trends on TikTok, he also said: “If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.” Thanks to the laws of thermodynamics, the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume, which can be done by either consuming fewer calories or through exercise. Most effective is a combination of both. While some have claimed they’ve seen results from the trend, this is impossible, and likely any results achieved were due to other factors. Others have confirmed in the comment sections of videos about it that despite trying it for days or even weeks, they haven’t seen any change.

Users in the comment section were horrified that Blake air fried the crabs while they were still alive. One user said, “Why do this whilst they’re alive? Eat meat whatever, but to cause such awful suffering is disgusting.” Another added, “She’s f*cking roasting crabs to death, that’s nuts.” Although many people enjoy eating seafood, there are still humane techniques to kill crustaceans that are still going unused.

TikTok reportedly to charge up to $2 million for main ad slot Unsplash: Olivier BergeronAccording to a report from Bloomberg, TikTok is set to charge up to $2 million for their most valuable ad spaces, thanks to the app’s rapidly growing user base. Over the past couple of years, TikTok has cemented itself as a staple social media platform. The short-form video app has fast become a hub of viral content, from viral sounds, filters, trends, and more. With many of TikTok’s most popular stars such as Addison Rae and Charli D’Amelio making huge amounts of money from their careers on the platform, securing huge brand deals with businesses like Dunkin’ Donuts and Hollister, it’s clear that the site is becoming a hotspot of brand activity. Now, according to a report from Bloomberg, TikTok is planning to sell their most valuable ad space for up to $2 million. Read More: Top 20 most followed TikTok accounts – The spot in question is called ‘top view,’ which refers to the first thing users see upon launching the app and heading to their For You Page, making it a highly coveted space from an advertiser’s perspective. According to the report, the top view ad will cost up to $1.5 million per day on a national holiday in the third quarter, and $2 million in the fourth quarter. This steep climb in price is likely partly a result of TikToker’s rapidly growing user base, with TikTok estimating that 109 million impressions could be generated from this unit. The first ad slot on a user’s For You Page reportedly costs less than half of the top view as it generates less than 50 million impressions. The high demand for this coveted ad spot and the increase in price may begin to direct more advertisers towards the increasingly popular app, as the userbase continues to grow.

  • TikTok chef goes viral cooking in hotel bathrooms: “Dude is a menace” – Dexerto

TikTok chef goes viral cooking in hotel bathrooms: “Dude is a menace” TikTok: Barfly7777A TikTok chef has been going viral for his “genius” cooking skills in hotel rooms, but some viewers can’t help but raise their eyebrows at what he’s been doing. Just like every other social media platform out there, cooking is one of TikTok’s favorite genres. Viewers are obsessed with cooking hacks, tips, and unique recipes, with many of these going viral over the last few years. Just take the viral cinnamon roll recipe, for example. However, if you’ve not found yourself in that cooking corner of TikTok recently, you may have missed what has been unfolding with Barfly7777. The TikToker chef has been going viral in cooking circles because of the meals he’s been cooking up in hotel bathrooms. Some of the videos have gotten up to 6 million views, and while some viewers are impressed, others are concerned. Chef goes viral as TikTok users can’t believe he’s cooking in bathrooms Yes, that’s right, he’s been cooking full-fledged meals in hotel bathrooms and even using toilets to help him out store his ingredients. The TikToker isn’t cooking rudimentary meals either. In some clips, he’s cooked racks of ribs and steak with garlic and shrimp potatoes, and he’s even had a go at making spaghetti bolognese. It’s not like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and he’s cooking on radiators, however, Barfly7777 does have proper grill pads to cook meat. It’s impressive, really, but not all viewers have seen it that way. “I have so many questions,” commented one user. “Whenever this guy enters a hotel, housekeepers scream inside,” added another. “Dude is a chef and a menace,” another said. “I trust gas station sushi more than this.” Other viewers called his work “genius” but also felt for the staff that may have to see his handy work in the bathrooms. “You better tip the Houskeeper WELL,” another commenter added.

  • TikTok changed its font and users are not happy about it – Dexerto

TikTok changed its font and users are not happy about it Unsplash: Solen FeyissaA new update on TikTok introduced a new font used on the text in the short form app. Despite being such a small change, users are not happy about it. Here’s everything you need to know. Social media platforms like TikTok often create updates to the app in a way to have them run as smoothly as possible. Sometimes, these updates also include changes to how the platform works and looks. A recent update saw the font used on TikTok change and users are not very happy about it. Why did TikTok change its font? TikTok uploaded a blog post revealing their inspiration behind the new font on May 17, 2023. “We’re delighted to introduce TikTok Sans, our new bespoke typeface inspired by the creativity and authenticity of our global community,” they said in a tweet sharing the post. What does TikTok’s new font look like? The only differences between the old font and this new font are that the letters are closer together and every letter is also slightly slimmer. These changes are so minor that plenty of users have the new font and haven’t even noticed the difference yet. But those that have don’t seem too thrilled about it. Why don’t people like the new font? Since the sudden change in fonts, people have expressed their thoughts online – and most people are on the same side. They really don’t like it, saying that it “looks off”. One person said on Twitter: “This new tiktok font is so fugly ew.” “The slight font change on TikTok is making me want to rip my own teeth out with my bare hands,” another said. A third person wrote: “The new TikTok font looks so off and it’s killing me.” Most people seemed to be on the same side, as a fourth person said: “TikTok changed their font and it’s pissing me off.” Why can’t I see the new font on TikTok? The new font comes with a recent update for the TikTok app. If you can’t see the change but want to, simply go to where you get apps, either App Store or the Google Play store to find any available updates. But since the changes made to the font are so small, you might even have the new font without you noticing. • TikTok reveal changes to combat “dangerous” trends & hoax videos – Dexerto

TikTok reveal changes to combat “dangerous” trends & hoax videos Unsplash: Olivier BergeronTikTok has announced measures they are taking to tackle the issue of “dangerous” trends and hoax videos on the platform after conducting research into the impact they have on users. Although millions have grown to enjoy TikTok for its huge collection of viral videos for a variety of categories, there’s no denying that the platform has seen its fair share of controversial, and outright dangerous trends in recent years. There have been several instances of children getting injured as a result of trends involving things like fire, leading to a wave of backlash against the platform. In September, TikTok even had to entirely ban the viral ‘Devious Lick’ trend that saw teenagers stealing items from their schools and trying to hit their teachers, after it blew up in a big way online. On November 17, they released a post addressing how they aim to tackle some of the more dangerous content on the platform after conducting research into the effect of some trends on young users. They revealed that ‘self-harm hoaxes’ that attempt to spread false, but frightening information were having an impact on teens’ wellbeing, explaining that: “31% of teens exposed to these hoaxes had experienced a negative impact. Of those, 63% said the negative impact was on their mental health.” According to their studies, o.3% of teens say they have taken part in dangerous challenges, and they went on to explain how they are using “strong policies” coupled with ” strong detection and enforcement measures” to protect the community. “We created technology that alerts our safety teams to sudden increases in violating content linked to hashtags, and we have now expanded this to also capture potentially dangerous behavior,” they stated. “For example, a hashtag such as #FoodChallenge is commonly used to share food recipes and cooking inspiration, so if we were to notice a spike in content tied to that hashtag that violated our policies, our team would be alerted to look for the causes of this and be better equipped to take steps to guard against potentially harmful trends or behavior.” They added that they will now be displaying additional sources when people search for content relating to self-harm or suicide.

  • TikTok has changed social media in a way not seen since Snapchat – Dexerto

TikTok has changed social media in a way not seen since Snapchat Unsplash: Alexander ShatovSpotify is the latest in a long line of apps to experiment with TikTok-style features, attempting to capitalize on the platform’s sudden overwhelming popularity — but can TikTok ever be beaten at its own game? In late November, it was reported that music streaming platform Spotify had started testing a new feature for the app — the Discover page. Notably, the tab is very similar to the nature of TikTok’s own ‘For You Page,’ in that users are able to scroll through a feed of vertical music videos which they can like or skip. The feature is only being tested currently, so whether it is rolled out on a global scale remains to be seen, but it’s the latest in a series of moves from companies to adopt features similar to TikTok in an attempt to capitalize on its enormous popularity. Instagram is one key example. In July, Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed that the app was “no longer a photo-sharing app, or a square photo-sharing app,” and announced that the company would be pivoting to a video-based model instead, citing TikTok as one of its biggest competitors. This attempt has been evidenced through the platform’s focus on their TikTok style ‘Reels’ feature. https://twitter.com/chrismessina/status/1463542273216446472?ref_src=twsrctfwtwcamptweetembedtwterm1463542273216446472twgrtwcons1_c10&ref_url=httpswww.dexerto.comentertainmentspotify-testing-popular-tiktok-inspired-feature-1707354 YouTube is another platform that launched its own ‘Shorts’ feature earlier in 2021, joining other companies in placing emphasis on short-form vertical video content. TikTok’s popularity has been rapid and overpowering, and with its extraordinary influence on pop culture and the entertainment industry, it’s no wonder that other apps are trying to keep up with this key rival. With the attempts certain platforms are making to emulate TikTok, it’s hard not to draw comparisons to the rise of the multimedia instant messaging app, Snapchat. The platform became popular for the ability to send messages that disappear once read, and especially for its ‘Story’ feature that was added in 2013, quickly becoming the app’s most used element. It was so popular, in fact, that countless other platforms decided that they wanted to capitalize on it, with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and even TikTok adding their own similar features over the years. Snapchat has by no means dropped off entirely as a result of this. As of July 2021, it had 293 million daily active users, which was a 23% growth from the previous year, marking its most impressive growth in several years. But while its userbase is growing, it arguably doesn’t have the influence it once did. As it’s an app essentially built around one or two key features, now that other platforms have extracted what they want from it, it no longer necessarily exists as a threat. However, TikTok is posing a much bigger problem than Snapchat in terms of competition. Because while TikTok has features that’s it’s recognized for, such as its vertical infinite scroll feed, its popularity is a lot less tangible than a few concrete features. TikTok has ultimately become a hub of viral culture. From dances and viral sounds to inside jokes and trends, the app has become an intricate ecosystem of a whole host of different communities across the globe. That is a much harder phenomenon to replicate. There’s a theory among many internet users that a social media platform is dying when a bulk of its viral content is made up of reuploads of posts that originally went viral elsewhere. Instagram’s Reels feature is often flooded with recycled TikTok content, meaning that people will increasingly be inclined to skip the middle man and go straight to TikTok to find the videos where they are originally posted. Of course, Spotify isn’t trying to become TikTok, given that the platforms serve entirely separate purposes. In fact, their use of a TikTok-style feed could ultimately prove to be a good thing for music consumers, as the FYP is clearly a comfortable way for people to view content via their smartphones. However, the fact that so many platforms are adapting, or even completely pivoting their models to emulate the app is evidence of just how powerful TikTok is, and just how much of a threat it’s becoming competition-wise. Like Snapchat, TikTok has tapped into a method of content consumption and communication that clearly resonates with internet users, but unlike Snapchat, it looks like they will only continue to become bigger competition.

TikTok chalk artist threatened with eviction over “disrespectful” sidewalk drawings Instagram, TikTok: varakaughnTikTok chalk artist Kara Vaughn was threatened with eviction over her sidewalk drawings after her landlady called the artwork “disrespectful.” In response, Vaughn organized a ‘Chalk the Town’ event that’s going viral. ‘Karens’ always know how to ruin someone’s day… but in this case, one Karen seemed to threaten her tenant with eviction over adorable chalk art. Kara Vaughn is an artist and sidewalk chalk enthusiast who lives in Hutchinson, Kansas. She loves to express her artistic flair on the driveway and sidewalk of her home, which she rents. Unfortunately, her landlady wasn’t very happy about her artwork. In a viral video posted on May 28, Vaughn claimed that her landlord actually loved her chalk drawings… but when he came to visit the property with his wife, she went off on Kara over the pictures, calling them “disrespectful.” TikTok chalk artist threatened with eviction over sidewalk drawings It’s hard to imagine what was so distasteful about Vaughn’s artwork, given that she’s prone to drawing adorable images of Pokémon and bumblebees — but even after assuring the landlady that she could just wash it all away, she was told she could “just leave” if she didn’t like the ‘rules.’ A short while later, Vaughn uploaded a video of herself on a phone call with her landlady, who still appeared to have an issue with her tenant’s sidewalk artwork (even after Vaughn assured her that she’d contacted the city, who claimed sidewalk chalk was a perfectly legal means of self-expression). “I just don’t get this,” the landlady can be heard saying over the phone. “I’m sorry, I just don’t understand you anymore.” Thus far, Vaughn’s videos chronicling her issues have gone viral, amassing millions of views in just two weeks since being posted. That’s not all; she even organized a ‘Chalk the Town’ event in retaliation, complete with food trucks, music, a scavenger hunt, and other activities. The event is scheduled for July 1-2, 2023 — and Kara is encouraging her many fans on TikTok to make a road trip out of the event, should they choose to attend. For now, there haven’t been any other updates on her landlady saga… but rest assured, we’ll keep you updated about the ongoing situation right here at Dexerto.

Even though TikTok started out as a way for creative users to share their favorite dances and songs, it’s become so much more than that over the last few years. In fact, the app now resembles Vine in a way, with it being overtaken by viral videos, sketches, and everything else that you can think of. Though, those creative dances and performances still shine through. In the case of TikToker imjasonallan, who regularly posts videos of himself busking in the UK, he’s become a new favorite of some TikTok users thanks to a video of him reuniting with an elderly woman that he’d danced with on a previous post. The busker’s video, which was initially posted on TikTok at the end of May, showed how he was performing in Hereford, England when the woman – Iris – approached him. As the video shows, the TikToker was able to flash back to July of 2021, showing him and Iris dancing along to a remix of Ed Sheeran’s hit ‘Bad Habits’. “She came over, and she put money in my case. And I was like, ‘I know where from somewhere,’ and then when the video starts, she walks over and says the same. She suddenly realised and said, ‘you’re not my dance partner, are you?’” Allan told the Hereford Times, with the video showing them busting some moves again after their reunion. The video has blown up on TikTok and captured the hearts of viewers who can’t believe how adorable it is. “My heart! I can’t cope,” commented one viewer. “She slayed!” added another. “Watching this makes my heart happy,” added a third. Some viewers are hoping that the pair reunited again before long, but we’ll jut have to wait and see on that front.

A dating-themed trend has now been doing the rounds on the app, and thousands of people are getting involved. Dubbed the ‘car trend’ by many, it involves using a fact file template themed around cars to list all of the relevant information about yourself and your dating past. It might be strange to some, but others are enjoying the unique way of sharing info about themselves.

  • TikTok bride has perfect response for trolls making fun of her wedding gown – Dexerto

TikTok bride has perfect response for trolls making fun of her wedding gown TikTok: littlemiss_madisonA bride-to-be was exceptionally excited about her bargain wedding dress… but the internet wasn’t as enthused, comparing the gown to a “Christmas ham” and a “bed comforter.” When it comes to weddings, the bride’s dress is one of the biggest moments of the couple’s super special day. Shows like ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ are incredibly popular for showcasing brides’ searches for the “perfect” gown — but they often come with a hefty price tag. Texas-based bride-to-be Madi Posa got lucky, though; she managed to find her dream wedding dress for just $200, and after three weeks of waiting, finally unveiled her thrifty find on TikTok. In a three-part series of videos, Posa excitedly opened up the package her dress was in and turned the gown right side-out, showing a loose, flowy, and light pink number with multicolored floral detailing. Although she was pleased as punch with the dress, it looks like commenters weren’t as impressed. “It disappointed,” one user wrote. “You’re getting married in that?” another asked. “I can’t tell if this is sarcasm, help,” another said. TikTok Bride hits back at wedding dress trolls That’s not all; according to Posa, some commenters even compared her wedding dress to Little Bo Peep from Toy Story, a Christmas ham, a bed comforter, Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, Glinda the Good Witch, and even Barbie from Swan Lake. (We have to admit, that last one is a pretty fair comparison — and not a negative one!) Luckily, it doesn’t look like she’s taking the remarks too seriously. Posa hit back at the less-than-flattering comparisons in a light-hearted TikTok, saying she was “dying” over the comments. In fact, she said she “loved” the comparison to Swan Lake Barbie in several comments, and seems to be taking the attention quite well, celebrating her online find ahead of her big day. You go, girl! This is just the latest wedding moment to take over TikTok after a couple’s nuptials were interrupted by a woman mowing her lawn right next to their ceremony.

TikTok’s viral ‘Beer Beer, Truck Truck’ song continues to blow up following radio debut YouTube: George BirgeAfter TikTok user Erynn Chambers made a hilarious country song parody, singer George Birge decided to turn it into an actual song, and it has now even debuted on the radio. Over the past couple of years, TikTok has become a hub of viral content on the internet, and with Sounds being such a central part of how the app is structured, music has also become a huge part of the platform. Artists like Olivia Rodrigo get huge popularity boosts thanks to the community on the app, and it even managed to blow up Walker Hayes’ country song ‘Fancy Like,’ with the tune climbing charts and still being featured in plenty of videos. But Walker isn’t the only country artist who’s seeing just how powerful TikTok can be. Back in October, TikTok user Erynn Chambers a.k.a. Rynnstar made a video in which she parodied the lyrics to country songs, with the iconic line, “beer beer, truck truck.” The video promptly went viral, with over 1.8 million likes. He posted a video singing the lyrics while playing the guitar, and after people showed interest, he got to work producing the track. • TikTok bed prank on wife goes viral: Hilarious or terrifying? – Dexerto

TikTok bed prank on wife goes viral: Hilarious or terrifying? TikTok: chrisandchenoaA prank by TikTokers Chris and Chenoa where he puts a freaky doll next to his wife in bed to see her reaction is going viral on TikTok, but some are convinced that the popular video was staged. One type of content that has been popular on just about every video-sharing platform over the years, is prank videos. Whether it’s a harmless jumpscare or an elaborate joke involving lots of people and expensive effects, viewers always enjoy watching people get pranked by their friends and family. The latest prank to do the rounds on TikTok has viewers divided though, as they can’t decide whether being on the receiving end of this joke would eventually be hilarious or just straight-up terrifying. In the video posted by husband and wife duo Chris and Chenoa, Chris put a creepy silicone head in the bed next to his apparently sleeping partner. He woke her up by tapping her hand with a long stick, and when Chenoa opened her eyes, she found herself face to face with the disturbing mask. Naturally, she immediately started screaming, flinging the covers off as Chris laughed in the background. The couple have 1.4 million followers on TikTok, and regularly post prank content that sees them trying to outsmart the other with jokes hidden in household objects. Click here if TikTok doesn’t load However, some people are convinced the pranks are fake, with one comment saying “is anything on this app not staged?” getting over 6000 likes. TikTok comment detectives also highlighted the lack of continuity between shots, with Chenoa’s hand in different positions. Others loved the video, however, calling it “brilliant” and “wicked.” The creepy doll prank garnered Chris and Chenoa a whopping 30 million views and one million likes, making it a hugely successful video for the husband and wife team, and although not everyone was convinced that it was actually real, it may have given some an idea of pranks they want to pull on their own family members.

  • TikTok beekeeper accused of faking her viral videos – Dexerto

TikTok beekeeper accused of faking her viral videos Instagram: @texasbeeworksTikTok star and beekeeper Erika Thompson has been accused of faking her viral videos, with other beekeepers and bee enthusiasts pointing out purportedly glaring flaws in her content. Thompson hails from Elgin, Texas, and is the founder of Texas Beeworks — a beekeeping operation that has come under intense scrutiny from netizens over the past week. Unlike most beekeepers, who are seen wearing white beekeeping suits and helmets, Thompson’s viral content shows her with her hair down and sporting dark clothing… the first of many purported faux pas of the profession. Thompson’s content has earned her over 6 million followers on TikTok, usually showing the beekeeper’s hive rescues and removals with an ASMR-like narration explaining the story behind the hives. Despite her popularity, Thompson has come under intense scrutiny as of late due to several other beekeepers on TikTok, who claim that the Texas-based TikToker is faking her videos. Dilligenda, who runs Los Angeles-based lahoneybeerescue, first called out Thompson on May 24 for seemingly not cutting out honeycombs or actually removing the hives herself, theorizing that her husband was actually doing all the work. “What she’s doing — going and opening up hives with her hair down, wearing dark clothes with exposed skin — is dangerous,” the TikToker explained. “…she doesn’t show herself wearing protective gear when she goes up and analyzes the hive at first.” “She’s setting a very dangerous precedent,” she continued. “She looks really pretty doing it, and that’s because it’s faked.” Days later, the entire bee-keeping section of TikTok exploded with criticism against Thompson, with many calling her out for showcasing beekeeping habits that could get people new to the profession seriously injured. Thompson herself has yet to comment on the allegations against her, which have transformed TikTok’s normally educational, relaxing beekeeping space into a “hive” of drama.

  • TikTok bans ‘Super Straight’ hashtag for spreading “hateful ideologies” – Dexerto

TikTok bans ‘Super Straight’ hashtag for spreading “hateful ideologies” Super StraightTikTok has banned the ‘Super Straight’ hashtag along with its original creators for spreading “hate speech and hateful ideologies,” after many called out the transphobic nature of the trend. The term Super Straight was originally popularized by TikTok user Kyle Royce, who, in a now-deleted video, told viewers that he had “made a new sexuality.” He said, “now, I’m Super Straight. I only date the opposite gender, women, that are born women. So you can’t say I’m transphobic now because that’s just my sexuality.” The video quickly picked up traction before it was deleted, and spread to other sites like Twitter and Reddit, with some people even making flags and putting them in their bios. However, many slammed the trend for being transphobic, as it was being used to perpetuate hate towards transgender people. https://youtu.be/z8vQhkPnEE4 It also later transpired that many of the symbols that were being associated with the Super Straight tag, and used in some of the flags, were other hate symbols. However, a TikTok representative speaking to PinkNews revealed that they were banning the tag from the platform, along with Kyle Royce who posted the original video. TikTok said, “Our community guidelines make clear that we do not tolerate hate speech or hateful ideologies, and we take action when issues are brought to our attention,” adding that, “We will continue to monitor this situation for further developments and take action wherever necessary.” Attempting to access the hashtag via TikTok now brings up the error message, “no results found.” Beneath this is a note that reads, “this phrase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines. Promoting a safe and positive experience is TikTok’s top priority.” It does appear, however, that some hashtags with deliberate misspellings of Super Straight have been popping up on the app, with people looking to replace the now-banned tag. But, it’s clear that TikTok is cracking down on these types of harmful trends.

  • What are TikTok’s viral BBL shorts? How to buy & more – Dexerto

What are TikTok’s viral BBL shorts? How to buy & more TikTok: sweastyleThe latest clothing craze taking over TikTok is ‘BBL shorts’ — and users are itching to get their hands on a pair. Here’s everything you need to know about this new viral trend. TikTok is known for pushing viral products to the forefront and even creating the next new fashion trends from time to time. In fact, the app was single-handedly responsible for selling out a pink slip dress on Zara last year and even pushed a $30 Steve Madden bag to the forefront of fashionista’s wish lists just a month later. Now, TikTok is going gaga over what are being called ‘BBL shorts’ — and it’s not hard to figure out why they’re going so viral. What are BBL shorts on TikTok? ‘BBL shorts’ are so named because of the booty-lifting figure they give the wearer. Many netizens have shown off their bodies before and after putting on the biker shorts, which endow them with wide hips and a round bum thanks to padding inside the fabric. A BBL is an acronym for ‘Brazilian Butt Lift,’ a popular cosmetic surgery that transfers fat from elsewhere in the body to one’s hips and buttocks. Prices for the procedure vary wildly, but are generally in the several-thousand-dollar range. With the BBL shorts, TikTokers don’t need to pony up a ton of cash to achieve the look they want… and as such, it’s no surprise that the padded shorts are going viral online. Where to get BBL shorts It looks like most netizens are copping their TikTok-famous BBL shorts from an online store called Curvy Baddies. You can snag their ‘BBL Baddie Shaper’ shorts for $81.99, but currently, they’re on sale for $42.99. BBL shorts controversy While these might be the hot new thing online, not everyone is impressed with the BBL shorts. The garment has garnered quite a bit of criticism from social media users, with some calling the clothing “catfishing.” Still others attribute the BBL shapewear to the drag scene, pointing out how drag queens often use padded shapewear in their performances. This isn’t the first time TikTok has made a bum-enhancing product go viral; in 2021, TikTokers couldn’t stop wearing Seasum Leggings thanks to their booty-lifting look.

In a viral video with a whopping 9.6 million views, Thunder explained: “This is simultaneously the creepiest and the funniest site I have found on the dark web “The site is called ‘Get Gnomed’ and they claim to be the best gnoming service on the dark web – apparently, they have competitors. “I did not know what gnoming was before today, but apparently it’s when you cover someone’s house with garden gnomes and they offer something called ‘cursed gnomes’ which are filmed with animal waste to attract lots of pests. “What’s really creepy is that they will do the inside of people’s houses as well, regardless, they say, of the security risks. “Also, they offer something called ‘gnome haunting’ which is apparently when the people remove a gnome, it will then be replaced with two.” Thunder offered to test out the service if he got enough views, as he captioned the 47-second clip: “If this gets sent to enough people I’ll pay to gnome myself.” In the comments, many TikTok users were interested in trying out the service. “I will add that to my bucket list thank you,” one wrote. “My toxic trait is that I’m tempted to do this,” another added. “Sounds good. I’ll gladly pay to get my school gnomed,” a third shared. Others couldn’t believe gnoming was a thing, and took to the comments to joke about it. “I’m gonna wake up to go to the bathroom and someone’s gnoming my hallways,” one quipped. “What are the reviews like? It’s really hard to find reliable gnoming services in this economy,” another joked.

  • TikTok bans child safety advocate and nobody’s sure why – Dexerto

TikTok bans child safety advocate and nobody’s sure why TikTok: @evafog / AmazonA leading child safety advocate, who has previously advised TikTok on how to keep kids safe on the platform, has been banned for posting a duet with a video promoting the latest Borat movie. Eva Fog, a Danish child safety expert with a decade of experience, woke up on the morning of October 23 to discover her main account on TikTok, @evafog, had been banned. The notice Fog received through the app was that her “account was permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines.” She claims that she has never received a temporary ban on her account during her time on TikTok, which she joined in January 2020. What the hell?! @tiktok_us @tiktok_comms – why did you ban me account evafog? I have done nothing wrong 🥺 I’m using your platform to help children. This is not right. Please give it back pic.twitter.com/TfQ7Stcflt — Eva Fog Noer (@evafogdk) October 23, 2020 “I’ve had very few violations prior [to this],” she told Dexerto. “Those few were pretty harmless, like me duetting a female body positivity video and showing my belly.” “I am a child advocate for minors, specialising in their digital lives and communities,” she said. “I have used TikTok as a platform to inform, guide, and help the minors of Denmark with my account.” Earlier this year, Fog worked as a consultant with Save the Children Denmark, who were helping TikTok develop guidelines and policies to ensure children were kept safe. Read More: How to turn off DMs on TikTok – She used her TikTok account to advise children on how to use the app and other digital platforms safely. “I have prevented suicides, consoled victims of bullying, and advised victims of digital exploitation – just to mention a few things,” she said. I have had very few violations. The last was a duet with Amazon. An official channel. I have NEVER done anything that warrants this. I have never received a temp ban either. I’m a child advocate that makes your platform safer and better in Denmark @tiktok_us @tiktok_comms — Eva Fog (@evafogdk) October 23, 2020 The account had 13,500 followers, and her videos nearly half a million likes before it was banned. Fog believes that a duet with an official TikTok posted by Amazon Prime Video’s account, which has been seen 560,000 times to date, was the reason she was banned. In the original video, Sacha Baron Cohen’s character appears in his idiosyncratic mask-based mankini outfit, saying “This is how you put on a mask.” In the duet, Fog closed her eyes when the camera zoomed out to show the character wearing only the mask mankini. The video is one of millions of videos removed regularly by TikTok. The app said in its latest transparency report that it removed nearly 105 million videos in the first six months of 2020, 31% of them for adult nudity and sexual activities. The app said that 90.3% of its videos were removed before they received any views, and 96.4% of videos were proactively removed by the app before a user reported them. But in this case, overzealous moderation – perhaps by algorithm – appears to have banned one of its biggest defenders when it comes to child safety. “Having my account banned has basically stopped me from doing my job,” she added. “There is no other platform on which the youth of Denmark frequent as much as TikTok, and by banning my account, my connection to them has been severed.” Dexerto approached TikTok for comment just before 11am, setting a deadline for a response by mid-afternoon. By 1:30pm, Fog’s account, including the controversial video that got her banned, was reinstated. TikTok has yet to provide a response to this story.

  • TikTok baffled by bizarre “Oh Barbie” auditory illusion – Dexerto

TikTok baffled by bizarre “Oh Barbie” auditory illusion Toy Story 3TikTok has been throughly baffled by an auditory illusion from a scene between Barbie and Ken in Toy Story 3 which is blowing up on the app. There have been a number of different confusing illusions to go viral on the internet over the years, including everything from the black & blue/white & gold dress, to the ‘Laurel vs Yanny’ auditory illusion. The latest one to take over TikTok and baffle millions of users is taken from a scene in popular animated movie Toy Story 3, in which Barbie ties Ken up, and rips apart some of his favorite clothes in front of him. After tearing apart a pair of Hawaiian surf trunks, Ken exclaims, ‘Oh Barbie, those were vintage!’ However, in a video uploaded to TikTok, user Kitty Feeley asked users whether they hear Ken saying ‘Oh Barbie’ or ‘Oh f**k.’ To many people’s surprise, they found that they could clearly hear both versions depending on what they concentrated on. In fact, some even said that they couldn’t hear ‘Oh Barbie’ at all. “There’s no way he says ‘oh Barbie,’” wrote one baffled user. “I hear both,” said another. “What in the ‘Laurel or Yanny’ is going on here…” “I heard ‘oh Barbie’ the first time and now I can’t hear it anymore,” said one commenter. In just over a day, this video has racked up over 2.4 million likes and 26 million views, and it’s continuing to baffle users due to how clearly they can hear the other version of the line in the clip. As well as likening it to the ‘Yanny vs Laurel’ auditory illusion, many have also compared this clip to the similar ‘Green Needle vs Brainstorm’ phenomenon which has been hugely viral online in the past. This ‘Oh Barbie’ illusion could be set to stick around on TikTok for a while as more people encounter the baffling effect. Delaney has been updating her followers on her American Idol journey on her own TikTok account, and it looks like she’ll have plenty of people cheering her on as she progresses through the competition.

One thing people love to do on social media is talk about their childhoods, as they know that there will be thousands of people across the world who might relate to a niche pop culture reference, or a relatable school anecdote. TikTok is a particularly great place to do this, and hundreds of people have gone viral over the years reminding viewers of long-forgotten TV shows from childhood, or sharing more individual stories personal to the user. The latest nostalgic trend to take over the app is set to the tune of a sped-up version of the song ‘Angeleyes’ by ABBA, more specifically the lyrics: “Sometimes when I’m lonely I sit and think about him, and it hurts to remember all the good times.” Click here if TikTok doesn’t load As the lyrics would suggest, people are using the song to bring up things from their past that seem to have been largely forgotten, or for reminiscing on the “good times” they had at a certain point in their life. • TikTok allowing users to pay to promote videos on For You Page – Dexerto

TikTok allowing users to pay to promote videos on For You Page Pixabay/TikTok: WaveWyldTikTok is testing out a new feature globally that will allow users to pay to promote their videos on the For You Page. The app’s For You Page is widely praised for its impressive algorithm, expertly handing you videos that it predicts align with your interests, and while adverts do occasionally pop up, scrolling through is normally a seamless experience. But now, creators and not just businesses will be able to partly control how many people see their content. While this new feature is not widespread, it has been rolled out to a lucky few who will be able to promote individual videos from their creator account. How does the new feature work? The feature gives users several options for how they’d like their campaign to go. First, you must pick from one of three options for how you want to boost your account: to bring followers to your website, to increase your followers, or boost your views overall. The feature allows users to customize the demographic of their target audience, although there is also the option to go for ‘Automatic’ where TikTok picks the audience for you. Creators can pay for this buy using TikTok coins, the in-app currency where 65 coins roughly amount to $1, and users can set a limit for how much they spend in a day. The length of the promotion can also be set. TikTok coins are also used in the app to send virtual gifts such as when a creator is going live. User WaveWyld explained this by adding that if a TikToker spends 400 coins (around $6.15) per day, over 2 days that will potentially boost a video by up to 11,575 views. For any video that is promoted, it will be labeled as such. How to promote your TikTok videos If you’re one of the lucky few to have access to this feature, go to settings and click on ‘Creator Tools’ – Click ‘Promote’ – Scroll through your TikToks and pick which video to boost – Choose your video and then set your goal by picking from one of three options. – Set your target demographic as either Automatic or Custom. – Set your budget based on how many coins you would like to spend per day, over any number of days. – It is unclear exactly how long TikTok will be testing this feature.

  • TikTok “aesthetic video” roasted online for filming in busiest London tube station – Dexerto

TikTok “aesthetic video” roasted online for filming in busiest London tube station TikTok: turnttoniA TikTok video of an influencer taking an “aesthetic video” on the London Underground has been blasted online for the provocative caption it was posted with. Barely a week goes by when a TikTok swoops by and rallies the whole internet behind the cause of dunking on something. This time, it’s a provocative tweet about walking in front of tiktokers, which went viral after watchers clocked that it was filmed in Oxford Circus, one of the busiest tube stations in London. It’s not clear that the poster on Twitter is the original TikToker, but that hasn’t stopped people from blasting the hot take as ridiculous. Viral TikTok under fire for “Main Character Syndrome” The post on Twitter came with a slightly hyperbolic caption that read: “When you see someone recording just walk behind the camera or wait literally ten seconds, if you can’t do this then you don’t deserve to be part of a civilized society. “Like I’m sorry you can’t be kind to a pretty girl for five minutes, maybe if you could afford a bigger car your life wouldn’t depend on crowding the trains like moths to a lamp. This is how societies end.” When someone asked the OP in the replies if they were being serious, the poster answered: “Society is built upon people being nice to each other, if you can’t even refrain from invading someone’s private space then society has fallen.” While it’s difficult to know how serious the post and the caption is, it certainly rubbed people up the wrong way, with one commenter promising: “I’ll interrupt these videos every time. The public square ain’t your film studio.” Another quote tweet read: “The world doesn’t revolve around you, people have jobs to get to.” However, it’s possible that the video was posted as bait for engagement and outrage, as the TikToker in the video posted an update saying that someone on Twitter was impersonating her. TikTok addresses US state government bans as national ban fears grow Unsplash: May GauthierTikTok has responded to concerns after the state Governor issued a ban prohibiting government workers from using the popular social app, sparking fears of a nationwide ban. For quite some time, there have been fears that the US would impose a ban on TikTok, prohibiting the use of the popular short-form video-sharing platform. Notably, the FCC commissioner called for the app to be taken down from both the Apple and Google app stores, claiming the platform “presents a serious national security threat.” Furthermore, at least five states have banned TikTok from government devices, with Maryland state Governor Larry Hogan claiming the app presented “an unacceptable level of cybersecurity risk to the state.” The ban has sparked fear for many users that a country-wide ban could come next, leading to the platform issuing a response. TikTok addresses US state bans With many fearing that it’s only a matter of time until TikTok is banned in the U.S., the platform has addressed the state bans. “We believe the concerns driving these decisions are largely fueled by misinformation about our company,” TikTok wrote in a statement to Fox 11. “We are happy to continue having constructive meetings with state policymakers to discuss our privacy and security practices. “We are disappointed that many state agencies, offices, and universities will no longer be able to use TikTok to build communities and connect with constituents,” the company added. Although there are security concerns about user data, given that TikTok’s developers ByteDance is Chinese based, there’s nothing to indicate that TikTok will be shut down in the U.S..

  • TikTok adds feature to mass-block & delete comments to prevent bullying – Dexerto

TikTok adds feature to mass-block & delete comments to prevent bullying TikTokTikTok has made it easier to report instances of bullying on the app, with the chance to bulk delete or report comments. In the newly-rolled out feature, currently available in select markets but entering other users’ apps worldwide, TikTok users can select up to 100 comments to delete or report as inappropriate at one time. Previously, users have had to select individual comments and report or delete them one at a time – potentially increasing the amount of effort and insult they faced. To access the feature, users can long-press on a comment, or tap the pencil icon to open a range of options. It’s then possible to select up to 100 comments for deletion, blocking or reporting. “People put their hearts and souls into creating and entertaining on TikTok, and we recognize how discouraging it can feel to receive unkind comments on videos,” says Joshua Goodman, Director of Product, Trust and Safety at TikTok, in a blog post announcing the feature. “So we’re introducing the ability to delete multiple comments at once or report them for potentially violating our Community Guidelines. “The more we can stamp out bullying behavior, the more welcoming and fun TikTok will be for everyone,” Goodman adds. TikTok declined to share any data that had helped inform the decision to roll out the new mass reporting and deleting feature, but said the decision was designed to reduce friction for users facing inappropriate comments. It comes as the app rolls out a range of other protective measures designed to improve the user experience against bullying. It recently published a bullying prevention guide “to help families learn how to identify bullying as well as tools to counter bullying and provide help to bullying victims or bystanders.” “My initial thought is it’s about bleeping time,” says Eva Fog Noer, a Danish child safety expert, who has liaised with TikTok on previous safety initiatives. Read More: The Biggest TikTok houses – “Hate and trolling on TikTok has been an issue, as it is with all social media, from day one,” she says. “During the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s escalated fiercely, and many creators have expressed dissatisfaction with how hard it can be to keep ‘a clean house’. Comment sections are notoriously running wild on TikTok, and this will help. The comment filtering options are nice, but people are resourceful and find new ways of saying the same bad things.” “While it’s encouraging to see TikTok acknowledge their online abuse problem, at present, their improvements and tools always seem to put the onus on the user to protect themselves,” says Dr Carolina Are, who studies social media content moderation at City University, London. “Being able to filter or delete comments in bulk is helpful, but the user still has to go through them. “All in all, despite introducing new tools, the platform fails to deal with the fact that its moderation and governance often exposes users to overnight fame, overnight swathes of abuse and, importantly, to mass flagging as a form of content curation merely because others don’t like content,” she says. How to mass-delete TikTok comments Long-press on a comment or tap the pencil icon in the upper left corner to open a window of options. – Select up to 100 comments or accounts – Delete or report multiple comments, or block accounts – In March, TikTok added a ‘Rethink’ comment feature, which prompts commenters to ‘rethink’ if they want to send a message that contains potentially harmful language.

  • TikTok adding new features to stop fake news and misinformation spreading – Dexerto

TikTok adding new features to stop fake news and misinformation spreading Unsplash: Solen FeyissaTikTok is tackling the scourge of mis- and disinformation by launching a new feature that highlights the uncertainty of unverified content, aiming to slow its spread across the app. From today in the US and Canada, and February 22 in the UK, any video that TikTok’s content moderators or fact checkers have tried to check but cannot immediately verify will have a banner appended to it saying that the video may contain unsubstantiated content. If a viewer then tries to share that video, a further prompt will appear reminding them that the video contains content that couldn’t be verified, and asking them if they really want to share the video anyway. In trials conducted by the platform, the combination of the banner questioning the content and the prompt reminding viewers resulted in a 24% decrease in sharing of videos with potentially false content. “People come to TikTok to be creative, find community, and have fun,” said Gina Hernandez, product manager in TikTok’s trust and safety team, in a blog post announcing the feature. “Being authentic is valued by our community, and we take the responsibility of helping counter inauthentic, misleading, or false content to heart.” The banner and prompt will be particularly useful in the case of breaking news events, where it’s often difficult to immediately substantiate whether information being shared is true or false. By disincentivizing engagement, TikTok hopes to slow the spread of fake news around live news events. “We’ve designed this feature to help our users be mindful about what they share,” said Hernandez. The feature is being introduced to accompany, not replace, TikTok’s current policies on misinformation. In the first half of 2020, TikTok removed around 1.25 million videos worldwide for issues of “integrity and authenticity” – around 1.2% of all the videos they removed during that six months, and around 6,930 a day. Those videos would still be removed for being false, Dexerto understands – but on more borderline cases, where it’s difficult to ascertain objective fact in a situation, the new features could help reduce the speed of spread on the app. The feature was developed by TikTok in conjunction with behavioural science experts Irrational Labs, and as well as reducing the shareability of content, it also decreased the number of likes questionable videos received by 7% in trials. “Labelling of content has been previously used by other tech-firms to combat misinformation,” said Yevgeniy Golovchenko, who studies disinformation at the University of Copenhagen. “Existing research from other platforms suggests that labels may indeed help curb the labelled stories.” The academic points out that a similar method has been previously deployed by Facebook on some of its content. Golovchenko does, however, sound a note of caution about the feature. “There is also research which points towards potential dangers of using this technique,” he said. “By labelling some content, a social media platform can potentially make other non-labelled content – both false and true – appear more reliable.” Research by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology showed the so-called “implied truth effect” was a risk. “When it comes such policies, regardless of whether they are implemented by TikTok, Instagram or other platforms, it is super important that the tech firms are transparent,” he added. “This should be done by providing researchers and journalists with accessible data on the labelling: What is labelled, when and why.” Some of those concerns may be headed off by the scale of TikTok’s moderation and fact-checking team, which is also being beefed up through a new partnership with Logically, one of the world’s biggest dedicated fact-checking organisations. They are “supporting our efforts to determine whether content shared on the platform is false, misleading or misinformation,” said Hernandez, who added: “If fact checks confirm content to be false, we’ll remove the video from our platform.”

  • TikTok addresses flaw that let hackers steal phone numbers – Dexerto

TikTok addresses flaw that let hackers steal phone numbers PixabayTikTok has found a “severe” bug that would allow users’ phone numbers to be compromised if taken advantage of by attackers. Just like other app developers, TikTok has a bounty program that allows security firms and users to try and find unknown problems within the app and get a nice cash reward for doing so. The security firm Check Point Research recently discovered a flaw in the popular app’s security that allows hackers to use “Friend finder” to take phone numbers and other personal details that would be entered into a database to be used for future malicious intent. According to Check Point, these details include “phone numbers, nicknames, profile and avatar pictures, unique user IDs and settings such as whether a user is a follower or if a user’s profile is hidden.” The company said it immediately informed TikTok and that the app’s developers quickly found a solution to the vulnerability which could have affected the 1 billion people that use the platform. The “Friend finder” feature allows creates a user token and a session cookie for each unique device that creates an account. However, these cookies exist for up to 60 days from creation, which means they can be added to virtual devices rather than physical phones. How to update your privacy settings If you’re concerned and you’d like to make your TikTok account a little more secure, there are a few things you can do. To find privacy settings, go to your profile and click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner. From there you can change your privacy, and your security and login settings. Under the Privacy tab, you can toggle “find your contacts” on or off, and you can change your ad settings to allow or stop companies from receiving any data. If you are concerned that your account may be compromised, you can secure your account under the Security and login tab by viewing security alerts, removing any devices you don’t recognize, and turning 2-step verification on.

  • TikTok adding ‘gifts’ feature in comment section to donate money to creators – Dexerto

TikTok adding ‘gifts’ feature in comment section to donate money to creators Unsplash: May GauthierTikTok is rolling out its ‘gifts’ feature to comment sections of some creators’ videos, allowing users to donate money to their favorite creators. As video-sharing app TikTok continues its rapid rise in popularity across the world, new stars are popping up on a regular basis, with some of them becoming widely recognized as celebrities in their own right. People like Addison Rae and Charli D’Amelio have been making huge career moves beyond the platform, but the start of their career can all be attributed to TikTok. There are of course plenty of smaller creators on the app, too, who are often looking to the app as a viable source of income. Now, it looks like it will be much easier for fans to support their favorite creators, as the platform is testing the ‘gifts’ feature in the comment sections of some videos. ‘Gifts’ were originally only available in live streams, allowing users to pay real-life money to purchase coins, which can then be used to buy ‘gifts’ for people in the form of colorful icons. These gifts come at various costs, and at a certain point, creators are able to cash them in and get real-life money. Users have now started noticing that the gift feature is being added to some videos as a bar at the top of comment sections, allowing people to donate more easily than ever. Opening the ‘Top Gifts’ tab and clicking ‘Recharge’ allows users to spend real money to buy coins, after which they are able to select from a range of Classic and Premium gifts. Coins currently cost £0.49 GBP for 40, but prices vary from currency to currency. So far it’s not clear whether this feature will be rolled out to every user, or whether it will only be for verified creators. Many will no doubt be happy to see the feature being expanded across the app, as it provides an easy way for people to support growing creators.

  • TikTok 0 followers glitch: Fix for account bug as profiles show no followers – Dexerto

TikTok 0 followers glitch: Fix for account bug as profiles show no followers TikTokTikTok users have been re-encountering a strange bug that resets their follower count all the way back down to zero, but there’s no need to worry about all those lost followers. Just like with any other social media platform, building up a following on TikTok can take a lot of hard work and impressive videos. However, a strange bug reset a lot of follower counts back down to zero, leaving some users worried about the future of their accounts, especially as some had to keep re-entering their date of birth. Why did TikTok unfollow everyone? The strange glitch has appeared multiple times in the past few years, and it wasn’t long before users were calling on TikTok to address what had happened to their followers. “Either all my TikTok followers decided to hate me all at once or something happened where I’m back at zero,” wrote one TikToker. “It says I have zero followers but my fyp says I still have my mutuals and stuff?” questioned another. Others thought they’d been banned, especially after TikTok was asking for them to repeatedly enter their date of birth each time they opened the app. However, that wasn’t the case. • TikTok is now allowing 5-minute videos for some users – Dexerto

TikTok is now allowing 5-minute videos for some users Unsplash: Olivier BergeronTikTok users are reporting that they’re now being given the option to film and upload five-minute-long videos on the app, not long after the limit was raised to three minutes. TikTok has become one of the most popular social media apps out there over the past few years, garnering a huge number of users who all participate in trends, challenges, and more, sometimes spending hours on the app scrolling through its wealth of content. Originally, users were only able to upload 60-second videos, which sometimes proved to be inconvenient if creators wanted to post a detailed tutorial, or a long storytime. In December 2020, users started noticing that they had been given the ability to trial three-minute-long videos, and this feature was rolled out to the whole userbase in July. But it looks as though the company isn’t planning on just stopping at three minutes, as some users have now reported that they are being given the option to test five minutes videos. On August 25, social media consultant Matt Navarra posted a screenshot of a notification under ‘account updates’ which offered the user the ability to test out the new video limit, and he wasn’t the only one. There were even some reports that they are testing a 10-minute limit. TikTok is testing a longer 5 minute video upload limit 🕺 🤳🏻 pic.twitter.com/qiRbJmHkma — Matt Navarra (I quit X. It’s currently not clear whether TikTok plans on rolling this new feature out to everyone in the future, but with there still being some pushback against the 3-minute length, the new 5-minute limit may not be welcomed by all.

  • THump gets revenge on Alinity with hysterical Twitter troll – Dexerto

THump gets revenge on Alinity with hysterical Twitter troll Popular content creator and jokester THump finally got his own back on streamer Alinity after she kicked off the new year by giving him a fresh start on Twitter and unblocking him. Alinity may be a pretty popular streamer who can attract thousands of fans whenever she goes live, but she has quite a fractured relationship with a large portion of the streaming community. Be it because of the alleged animal abuse or the copyright strike drama, content creators have lined up to take shots at her on a pretty regular basis. While the majority of these may stay on stream and live solely on Twitch or YouTuber, others do stretch into Twitter where she has the ability to block them. However, after unblocking THump, he quickly turned the tables on her in hilarious fashion. To mark the start of the new year, THump noted that he had finally been unblocked by Alinity on Twitter and could start tweeting at her again. “Nah bro, nobody can top this 2020 gift,” he tweeted, noting that he was no longer blocked by the streamer. After Alinity replied with a happy new year message, THump quickly asked for a follow – claiming he would “do anything” to have his wish come true. It didn’t take Alinity long to come through and hand him a follow. However, he just used it as a chance to get his own back – handing the female streamer a swift block before taking a victory lap and showing off the hilarious exchange. https://twitter.com/THump/status/1212852414170185728 Of course, many of his followers found his mini revenge moment as completely hilarious, making jokes about how Alinity would strike back by finding a way to get him banned from Twitch. That seems pretty unlikely, though, especially considering it’s all just a jokey moment from a well-renowned prankster who has just got his own back in pretty funny fashion.

That isn’t the only reason September 14 is a notable date, either: a press conference for the rematch has likewise been slated for that same day, according to KSI’s video on the subject from September 3. “I think it’s going to be more of a battle of words,” KSI said of the upcoming conference. “I’m not gonna go with the whole try and make fun of him, because I’ve already done that.” Where can you watch KSI vs Logan Paul 2? YouTube’s most buzzed-about rematch will throw down at the Los Angeles Staples Center on November 9, with streaming courtesy of sports broadcasting platform DAZN – but this bout will be different from its predecessor in a big way, aside from moving the broadcast off of YouTube. Rather than featuring other top influencers on its undercard, KSI vs Logan Paul 2 is going all pro, with professional boxer Billy Joe Saunders set to defend his world super middleweight title at the event. YouTubers going pro Both KSI and Logan Paul are forgoing headgear, as well, making their bout a serious affair – a development that boxing promoter Eddie Hearn argues will help new viewers see “the greatness of our sport.” That’s not all: Team 10 co-founder Jake Paul has reportedly secured a pro license to compete on the undercard, as well, hinting that a legit pro boxing match against MMA fighter Dillon Danis might not be completely out of the question, thanks to their long-running beef. With just two months left until the rematch throws down, fans and critics alike are guessing at who will come out on top: and with their fight going pro, there’s no telling how the Paul brothers’ desire for professional fighting careers will pan out.

  • Thorin takes a shot at Ninja’s ability following quote in ESPN magazine article – Dexerto

Thorin takes a shot at Ninja’s ability following quote in ESPN magazine article Esports analyst Duncan ‘Thorin’ Shields has taken his latest shot at popular streamer, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins. Thorin has gained a reputation as someone who doesn’t hold back with his opinions, regardless of how controversial or cutthroat they may seem. Ninja, on the other hand, is someone who has tailored his public persona to appeal to the masses, which includes no longer swearing during his streams. This difference of tactics when it comes to making content makes a potential war of words between the two an interesting prospect. Thorin’s latest shot at Ninja comes after he made it as the first gamer to appear on the front of ESPN’s magazine. Normally reserved for sports stars, Ninja’s appearance on the front page has been signaled as a sign of the times that gamers and esports is now being taken seriously in the mainstream media. During the interview, he claimed that he could play at a top level of any esport, but Thorin has hit out at that particular comment. Although he didn’t mention it was specifically Ninja he was referring to, it’s widely accepted that’s who he was talking about. It’s cute a variety children’s entertainment streamer imagines he could compete in a real hardcore esports game. Ah, bless! — Thorin (@Thooorin) September 18, 2018 As expected there was plenty of Ninja fans who were quick to defend the streamer, including pointing out that he’d competed at a top level in a number of titles. That, of course, didn’t change Thorin’s opinion. Unsurprisingly, I’m not particularly interested in the opinions of people without a background in Counter-Strike on how they think other people would do in Counter-Strike. Funny that. — Thorin (@Thooorin) September 18, 2018

  • Thor responds to calls for future fight with Jake Paul, Logan Paul or KSI – Dexerto

Thor responds to calls for future fight with Jake Paul, Logan Paul or KSI YouTube: Thor/Instagram: Jake PaulHafthor Bjornsson, otherwise known as The Mountain, is eager to get back into the boxing ring, but don’t count on him fighting KSI, Jake Paul, or Logan Paul as some fans have suggested. Influencer boxing events have continued to get bigger and bigger over the last few years, but there is literally none bigger than Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall – The Mountain vs The Beast. The strongman pair, who have both made a claim at being the world’s strongest man, finally stepped into the ring on March 19 to settle their differences, with Thor coming out on top with a decision victory. In the aftermath of the fight, the pair have made it clear that they’d like to do a rematch at some point, but Bjornsson wants to see Hall get a few wins under his belt first. And, in the meantime, some of his fans have suggested some fights for himself. The Icelandic strongman is eager to continue boxing but has been left a bit bemused by ideas from some that he might take on someone like KSI, Jake Paul, or even his brother Logan Paul. “I saw KSI was calling me out, saying that I’m slow and I’m this and that – I’ve heard those things before, but believe me KSI, even though I’m a bit slow, I still can punch you in the head quite hard,” Thor said in his March 31st video. “I heard also people say I should fight Logan Paul and even Jake Paul. Like, there’s a reason for weight classes guys and I have a lot of respect for all of these people as athletes, as people in general, they’re all very successful people and I’m willing to look at everything as long as you guys are behind me and think it’s the right move.” Timestamp of 5:31 In his opinion, Thor believes a fight against either Martyn Ford or Mariusz Pudzianowski would be the play – though he is wary of the fact that Pudzianowski has MMA experience behind him. It remains to be seen as to what his next move will be, but as he says, weight classes make it difficult for him to take on some of the other influencers in boxing.

  • Thor reveals he’d fight Logan Paul – but there’s a catch – Dexerto

Thor reveals he’d fight Logan Paul – but there’s a catch Instagram/thorbjornsson/loganpaulIcelandic strongman and actor Hafthor Bjornsson, otherwise known as Thor, says he’d accept a fight against influencer turned boxer Logan Paul on one condition. Logan Paul, alongside his brother Jake, have taken the boxing world by storm. The two have battled some of the biggest stars in combat sports such as Floyd Mayweather and former UFC champ Tyron Woodley, and have made a killing doing so. With Jake set to fight Tommy Fury in December and Logan rumored to duke it out with Mike Tyson in 2022, the duo have no shortage of challengers and seem to always have someone else in their crosshairs. As it turns out, Thor wants a piece of the action, but there is a pretty big catch that will determine if he ever sets foot in the ring against Logan. Thor will fight Logan Paul on one condition In an interview with James English, Bjornsson brought up how many people want him to fight Logan Paul, but has a serious issue with the prospect of setting up a boxing match with him. “I think he’s too small,” Thor said. “He’s too small for me to fight. Even though it would be good for my profile, he’s a superstar.” That said, a fight isn’t off the table if Logan decided to strike first and challenge him, then Thor would accept in a heartbeat. “If he called me out, I wouldn’t say no. But I’m not going to call him out,” the strongman explained, further adding that boxing him could be fun. “I wouldn’t call him out, because that’s kind of silly, you know? He’s smaller, lighter, but if he calls me out that’s a different story.” English pressed Thor, remarking how the brothers both have “a set of balls on them” and they’d be down anyway. “I think they would! I think they don’t give a f**k,” he replied. We’ll have to see what the future holds for both men and if Logan Paul ever considers making such a bold challenge.

  • Thor: Love and Thunder electrifies the box office with $300 million opening weekend – Dexerto

Thor: Love and Thunder electrifies the box office with $300 million opening weekend Youtube: Marvel EntertainmentThe latest Marvel movie to hit theatres, Thor: Love and Thunder, has dominated the box office in its opening weekend with more than $300 million made, and is shaping up to be a big hit throughout the world. Thor: Love and Thunder is in theatres now and is already shaping up to be a big success for the MCU and all those involved in the project. While early reports were predicting a $300 million opening weekend for the film, it has now been confirmed that the latest Thor instalment has achieved this comfortably. As first reported by Variety, Thor: Love and Thunder made $143 million in North America and an added $159 million was brought in internationally. This impressive showing places the film’s domestic opening weekend as the third-highest for 2022. Jurassic Park: Dominion holds second place with a $145 million opening weekend, while Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness maintains top spot with $185 million. Of the 29 MCU films to release so far, Thor: Love and Thunder’s opening numbers place it in the 12 spot for opening weekend sales. Since Thor: Ragnarok hit theatres in 2017, the titular character has become a reinvigorated and re-energized presence in the MCU. This is in large part thanks to Director Taiki Waititi coming into the picture and developing a fresh voice and spin for the character. One of the biggest talking points of Love and Thunder has been the return of Natlie Portman. After last appearing in Thor: The Dark World in 2013, Portman is back and reprising her role as Jane Foster. Her inclusion also brings The Mighty Thor to the MCU for the first time ever. The film includes Tessa Thomspon as Valkyrie, the King of New Asgard and fan favourite Korg. A few other Thor characters from the past also making appearances so stay tuned for those. The villain of the film, Gorr the God Butcher, is played by critically acclaimed actor Christian Bale and is getting major praise from critics and fans alike for his performance in the role. Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in theatres across the world. You can check out Dexerto’s review of the film, where we described the film as a ‘wild ride’.

  • Thor is a big xQc fan but sends him warning about his streaming “obsessed” lifestyle – Dexerto

Thor is a big xQc fan but sends him warning about his streaming “obsessed” lifestyle Twitch: xQc/ HafthorjuliusStreamer and Game of Thrones star Hafthor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson showered Twitch favorite Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel with praise during one of his Twitch livestreams. However, he admitted that he feared that xQc’s dedication to streaming has landed him in an unhealthy lifestyle. xQc regularly tops the lists as one of the world’s most popular streamers. Having been regularly livestreaming on Twitch since 2016, he’s gone on to earn 11.1 million followers on the Amazon-owned platform. However, with xQc livestreaming for as long as 11 hours a day, some of his fans worry what toll this lifestyle could be taking on his health, particularly his controversial gambling streams. His fellow Twitch streamer and 2018’s World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson similarly believes that xQc’s dedication to creating content has also spawned an ‘obsession’ with streaming. Thor praises xQc for his “super” high-energy In a Q&A with his chat on August 16, Bjornsson revealed that he tunes in to xQc’s livestreams and loves his adrenaline-fuelled content. “I think he’s entertaining for sure,” claimed Thor. “His energy’s just through the roof all the time. He’s a good streamer.” However, in Thor’s opinion, xQc’s ambition to be a “good” creator has also sparked an obsession with livestreaming and, as a result, produced a potentially unhealthy lifestyle. Bjornsson explained that for xQc, “time just goes so fast for him while he’s streaming, he just forgets to eat.” However, he suggested that the 25-year-old “hire a chef” who can make him “healthy and proper good meals at least 3 or 4 times a day.” He added that xQc also has the money to get himself a trainer who can help with his fitness and get him moving after a long day streaming. This isn’t the first time that xQc has faced other streamers encouraging him to adopt a different lifestyle. Although, he’s always found a way to hit back at his critics.

  • Thor Bjornsson baffled by KSI claiming he could beat him in boxing match – Dexerto

Thor Bjornsson baffled by KSI claiming he could beat him in boxing match YouTube: KSI / Instagram: thorbjornssonYouTube star KSI claimed that beating World’s Strongest Man Hafthor Bjornsson in the boxing ring would be an easy task, leaving the Icelandic strongman truly baffled. KSI may have kickstarted the influencer boxing trend, but fans are raising an eyebrow at his claims that he could KO the one and only Hafthor Bjornsson. The YouTuber, rapper, and budding pro boxer notably defeated fellow influencers Joe Weller and Logan Paul, and is now set for another boxing match sometime in the near future. His upcoming opponent is, as yet, still unannounced — but his latest statements have some eyeing Bjornsson as a possible rival. As reported by The Mirror, KSI notably spoke on Bjornsson’s recent boxing match against Eddie Hall, claiming that he could easily take down the 323 pound Icelandic giant due to the difference in their speed. “Yes bro, he’d be slow,” the YouTuber said. “You have to be fast, in and out, in and out. It’s one of those things because he’s slow, while he’s recharging to strike, you can hit him. Thor Bjornsson responds to KSI’s claims he could beat him in a boxing match Hafthor, on the other hand, seems a bit skeptical of KSI’s claims. He notably responded to the matter over on Instagram, where he passed fans the proverbial baton for their takes on the situation. “Interesting,” he commented. “I wonder if he truly thinks he could beat me or if he’s just fooling around. What do you guys think?” View this post on Instagram These two athletes have a 140 lb difference between them, making for an interesting conceptual fight, to say the least. Hafthor notably won his most recent boxing match against British strongman Eddie Hall by unanimous decision after the two went the full six rounds. While KSI’s no stranger to going the distance, a match between these stars would certainly make for quite the spectacle as fans continue to await an announcement for KSI’s next bout.

  • Thor challenges Eddie Hall to boxing match after deadlift world record – Dexerto

Thor challenges Eddie Hall to boxing match after deadlift world record Hafthorjulius Twitch / via theworldsstrongestmanThe gauntlet has finally been thrown between Hafthor ‘The Mountain’ Bjornsson and Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall as the Game of Thrones star challenged his outspoken rival to a boxing showdown to settle their feud. As two of the biggest and strongest humans in the world, a sanctioned match between them would be outside of the norm to be classified as Heavyweight or even Super Heavyweight. But The Mountain looked more than eager to enter the ring in what would have to be the world’s first ‘Titan’ weight division bout. In the post-lift interview for his world-record 501 kg (about 1104 lbs.) deadlift, The Mountain didn’t mince words when revealing the next step in his career. “Core Sports just offered me a seven-figure contract,” he explained. “Eddie Hall has been running his mouth now for weeks and I know he got the same deal. So: Eddie, I just knocked out your record and now I’m ready to knock you out in the ring.” By his phrasing, it sounds like Core Sports and The Mountain had already discussed a potential match between the two strongman stars. After the powder dust settled, the new Deadlift World Record holder told his rival to sign the Core contract to put The Beast’s fists where his mouth is. The two have been casting stones at each other, but it really ramped up in the weeks prior to Mountain’s attempt at breaking Beast’s 2016 500kg (about 1102 lbs.) deadlift record. Though Beast shares a competitive respect for his rival – he said he genuinely looked forward to having his record broken prior to The Mountain’s attempt – he wouldn’t recognize the new world record unless it was under the “appropriate” competitive conditions. That sentiment was echoed by huge figures in the scene such as legendary strongman Brian Shaw, who said the home gym attempt would open a “pandora’s box” in the sport. Comments made by Beast must have rubbed Thor the wrong way, who is now looking to settle their dispute with a battle of the behemoths soon. Update May 2 12:55 PM PST The Beast has officially accepted The Mountain’s challenge. In his video, The Beast said he’s taking up The Mountain in his challenge for calling him a “cheat” in 2017. Now The Beast is out to teach his rival a lesson by “ripping [his] f**king head off.” https://www.instagram.com/tv/B_shKXmFg43/?igshid=t9jir8mh1z02 The Beast is ready for the challenge of going up against someone with ample height and reach, but it’s been a habit of his to prove doubters wrong.

  • Thomas Petrou slams Bryce Hall’s accusations of stealing from Hype House – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou slams Bryce Hall’s accusations of stealing from Hype House YouTube: Bryce Hall / Thomas PetrouTikTok stars Thomas Petrou and Bryce Hall have sparked quite the feud after Hall accused Petrou — co-founder of the Hype House — of stealing money from his own content creators. [jwplayer ZXB9LNVP] It’s no secret that the Hype House and the Sway House aren’t on friendly terms, with the two getting into a fierce beef throughout this past year (remember that time the Sway boys drove to the Hype House to confront Chase Hudson?). While Hall has confirmed that their feud with the Hype House is definitely real, it seems that he’s going “full send” on his distaste for the group by accusing co-founder Thomas Petrou of outright stealing money from the HH’s content creators. During an interview with Tom Ward on October 8, Hall made some serious claims about Petrou’s business practices, stating that he’d “stolen” money from the TikTokers working underneath the content collective. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAdY8f1DyGw/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “I’ll say it — he steals money,” Hall stated. “He steals money from those kids. These kids are — I love a lot of people in the Hype House, but they are not the smartest people. …maybe not now, because I haven’t talked to them in four or five months, and maybe somebody said something to him, but he, at the beginning, was stealing money for sure.” (Topic begins at 37:00) Hall’s claims didn’t go unnoticed; Petrou responded to the accusations shortly thereafter, denying having ever stolen money from those in the Hype House in a pointed Instagram reply on a tea page. “That’s a complete lie,” he wrote. “I’ve never taken a percentage of anyone in the Hype House. Ask everyone who’s a part of it. The whole reason I started this was to help the people around me make sure they weren’t getting taken advantage of by their managers and agents.” This isn’t the first time Hall has struck out at Petrou in recent days, either; the Sway House TikToker also slammed Thomas’s spending habits, claiming that he “spends his money like an idiot” on pricey cars instead of saving up wisely. For now, it doesn’t look like there’s any love lost between these two social media stars as things continue to escalate between two of TikTok’s biggest creators.

  • Thomas Petrou reveals Hype House could be moving again – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou reveals Hype House could be moving again YouTube: Thomas PetrouHype House co-founder Thomas Petrou has hinted that the content collective could be moving to a new location, once again, after multiple instances of their address leaking online. [jwplayer ksH6zuKH] The Hype House is one of TikTok’s most popular groups, comprised of several high-profile content creators who live under a single roof to make the most out of their videos and social media posts. However, being internet-famous is no cakewalk, as overly enthusiastic fans have leaked their address multiple times online, resulting in a crowd of viewers clogging their driveway and generally disturbing the peace of their neighborhood. Thus, the Hype House — alongside rival group the Sway House — have had to pack up and move quite a few times, but it doesn’t look like their moving days are over just yet. In an October 27 vlog, Thomas Petrou revealed that he and his Hype House homies are looking for a new home, although they haven’t exactly nailed down a solid location at the moment. “We’re looking into moving,” Thomas said in the vlog. “Not necessarily right this second, but we’re looking at properties today.” Although the group found one home that several of them liked (the roof of which Thomas unfortunately showed off during the video), it doesn’t seem like things are set in stone, giving the group some wiggle room if they find a more suitable abode in the interim. (Topic begins at 5:36) It makes sense that the House would want to move; in a series of Instagram posts in July, Petrou revealed that over 100 visitors would visit their home per day, making for a fairly chaotic living situation for just about everyone involved. As previously mentioned, the Hype House aren’t the only ones facing such troubles. Even the Sway House and YouTuber David Dobrik have dealt with major invasions of privacy as of late, with strangers showing up to his doorstep and leaving their animals at his front gate. While it’s definitely cool to meet your favorite internet stars, it’s important to remember that they are people, too, who are deserving of their own personal privacy — no matter how many followers they have on social media.

  • Thomas Petrou reveals why he doesn’t want Mads Lewis in the Hype House – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou reveals why he doesn’t want Mads Lewis in the Hype House Instagram: Mads Lewis / YouTube: Thomas PetrouThe Hype House has helped some of TikTok’s most famous content creators reach internet stardom — but now that it’s in its twilight years, Thomas Petrou isn’t so sure he wants certain influencers involved in the group. The Hype House was once the “it” group of content houses. Like the Team 10 mansion before it, the Hype House became the premier destination for any TikToker looking to become the next big thing — and it worked. Charli and Dixie D’Amelio were notably a part of the Hype House before taking off to pursue their own solo careers, with Charli going on to become the most-followed content creator on TikTok. Addison Rae was also with the Hype House before parting ways from the group, and has now snagged a starring role in a Netflix film. While many of the Hype House’s biggest stars have now left the roost, Petrou is open to receiving new talent… with the exception of certain individuals. View this post on Instagram During a game segment in a recent episode of the BFFs Podcast with Josh Richards and Dave Portnoy, Petrou revealed that he wouldn’t hypothetically let TikToker Mads Lewis in the group, stating that there’s just a tad too much drama involved with the influencer for his comfort. “There’s good drama and there’s bad drama,” he explained. “I’ve known Mads for a long time, and… no. I love Mads. I’ve known her for a really long time. She’s sweet. But like, I’ve just seen some things with her, back when she was dating who she was. I saw things in person where I was like, I couldn’t deal with this in person.” (Segment begins at 1:08:53) Although it’s obvious that Petrou is on good terms with Lewis, it seems that there’s just too much turmoil in the mix for his liking… and while it’s not clear what exactly ‘drama’ he’s referencing, some fans are pointing toward Mads’ explosive split from ex-boyfriend Jaden Hossler earlier this year. Lewis has yet to respond to Petrou’s comments at the time of writing, leaving viewers curious to see how she’ll react to his hypothetical decision.

Charli D’Amelio is TikTok’s most-followed content creator. Boasting over 122 million followers on the viral video app, Charli has become a massive icon for Gen Zers in the social media age. However, everyone has to get their start somewhere… and Charli’s path to fame was certainly helped by her time in the Hype House, an organization that brought together some of TikTok’s biggest stars under a single roof. While most of their top talent has since made their exit, the Hype House was once the premier destination for any TikToker looking to make a name for themselves. Dixie D’Amelio, Addison Rae, and Tayler Holder were all an integral part of the Hype House before branching out into their own personal projects. View this post on Instagram Quite some time has passed since the Hype House’s heyday, and Thomas Petrou — who co-founded the House alongside other content creators — revealed that its biggest alumni is no longer in contact with him whatsoever. In a recent live stream, Petrou claimed that, although he tries to get in touch with Charli D’Amelio, the TikTok sensation never gets back to him… but he doesn’t blame her for the lack of communication. “‘Do I still talk to Charli?’” he said, reading a fan’s question aloud. “Uh, no. Not really. Haven’t talked to her in a minute. I saw her for the first time in a while, like a month ago, and it was really nice to see her, but I don’t talk to her.” “I’ve tried,” he continued. “I’ve reached out. I don’t know. I think that people are like… I think this city kind of rots your brain and I think it’s really hard for people, especially in her caliber, with how far she’s gone, to be friends with people. I’m sure she’s not perfectly okay. I just want her to be okay.” View this post on Instagram It’s true that Charli has basically become a mainstream celebrity — but it’s not all sunshine and roses for the young star, who has come under intense scrutiny on multiple occasions throughout her career. Petrou’s latest statement shines a light on the toll fame can have on one’s mental health… especially when their lives are broadcast for the entire world to see.

  • Thomas Petrou reveals Daisy Keech settled Hype House lawsuit but is under NDA – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou reveals Daisy Keech settled Hype House lawsuit but is under NDA Instagram, Thomas Petrou, Daisy KeechTikToker and “Hype House” founder Thomas Petrou said that he is under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) relating to a settled lawsuit by former member Daisy Keech. The NDA also includes other members of Hype House. Petrou revealed this in an appearance on the BFFs podcast on July 28. In the episode, Petrou talks about a lawsuit that occurred over the founding of “Hype House” and trademarking the name. The “Hype House” has the largest following out of any “TikTok” house with the likes of Addison Rae, Nikita Dragun, and the D’Amelio sisters as members. Petrou in the podcast says “kind of” though he says that the “conversation is sticky because we have both signed something that says we’re not allowed to speak about each other.” He goes onto say “we can’t really talk” and that it was “because her team was attempting to sue me which failed horribly. Then they withdrew and now we can’t talk.” Petrou then admits they signed NDAs. Dave Portnoy, one of the hosts, then asks about whether it was to do with “ownership of Hype House” and Petrou says it was “an intellectual property suit”. Portnoy says though that it “has to be about Hype House” which Petrou accepts. Petrou says that “there was backdated evidence of me and Alex [Warren] discussing [Hype House] years before I met Daisy so that was kind of the problem there.” When asked by Portnoy about his relationship now with Keech, Petrou said that they had “fixed it” and added he’d “talked to her about a week ago. However, he said “it took a long time to repair the relationship” because of anxiety he had suffered during the lawsuit, even the point of “throwing up every day.” He described the time as “horrible” because it was the first time he had experienced being in a lawsuit but said that “everything was in the past between him and Keech.” Petrou said it also made him realize that he “had to have a business in place” and “equity in these things” as Hype House quickly became popular. He said the mission of Hype House was to “bring people together” and try and have fun. Topic starts at 39:23 The lawsuit between Thomas Petrou and Daisy Keech The lawsuit began after Keech, claiming to be one of the founders, filed to trademark the name “The Hype House”. The next day a licensing agency called Brand Central LLC filed applications of its own. Keech claimed this was simply to secure intellectual property rights for the group and open up a “more collaborative decision-making process in the group.” Tensions between Petrou and Keech came to a head when Petrou used the trademark in an Instagram story as well as teased potential merchandise. Petrou was then sent a cease-and-desist letter and asked that Keech’s consent be sought before any use of the trademark. According to sources familiar with the situation, Petrou and Hype House founder Chase Hudson both believed they were the sole founders of Hype House.

  • Thomas Petrou opens up about what it felt like to be “canceled” – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou opens up about what it felt like to be “canceled” Thomas PetrouThomas Petrou might be controversial and polarizing, but the Hype House co-founder opened up about his struggles and what it felt like to be ‘canceled.’ Thomas Petrou has been in and out of drama for many months now. In 2019, he was fired from Team 10 three months after joining. However, he claims it happened for “no reason” other than “a few complaints about a few things.” Then, he co-founded The Hype House, only to find himself in more drama. First, Daisy Keech left the house and sued Thomas Petrou and Chase Hudson for allegedly leaving her out of important decisions, which he denied. Shortly after, Bryce Hall claimed Thomas Petrou developed unhealthy spending habits and had been stealing money from Hype House members. He denied these claims, but in a bizarre twist, seemed to purposefully embrace the drama. The non-stop controversy and drama painted Thomas Petrou in a bad light. Like so many other celebrities and internet personalities who have done wrong, people on social media started calling for him to be canceled. But while Thomas Petrou might not be a saint by any stretch of the imagination, he’s still a human. He recently opened up about what it was like to be on the receiving end of all the hate and explained how it had taken a toll on him too. “When I got canceled [six or seven] months ago, every morning off-camera when my friends were sleeping at 7am, when I was going through my drama, I would wake up and throw up,” he said. “It was hard to wake up with the comments I was getting,” he added. “[And] with the stuff that I was going through, that a lot of people still don’t know [about].” View this post on Instagram Cancel culture is a divisive topic for many reasons. However, the most predominant one is that, while there’s no harm in acknowledging and punishing celebrities for their wrongdoings, it can lead to excessive harassment on social media. Thomas Petrou has been a victim of that, and while some believe he deserves the backlash, others have been calling for a little sympathy and understanding. In the end, it’s hard to know what someone is going through, even for those in the public eye.

I’ve helped Chase through everything he’s ever needed and been there for him through his darkest times. “We’ve been friends for almost 3 years and this is how our friend group joked around. My comment on the podcast wasn’t that deep, I don’t have a sense of style and I think 90% of other people don’t have one either and I’ve already apologized to him privately for my comments.” he went on to say. The response to his comment was mixed, with some defending him and some maintaining their original criticism. Thomas Petrou explains why he regrets Hype House’s 6ix9ine collaboration YouTube: Thomas Petrou[jwplayer ksH6zuKH] The Hype House incited outrage from their fans after collaborating with rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine — and co-founder, Thomas Petrou, has explained why he thinks the pairing might not have been the best idea. Tekashi 6ix9ine surprised the entire internet after collaborating with several high-profile social media stars, including the likes of YouTuber Logan Paul and TikTokers from the Hype House. However, these creators were almost immediately met with backlash from fans, with many pointing out the accusations against 6ix9ine (which include assault, attempted murder, and even less savory claims involving minors). Despite the rapper’s huge success coming out of law enforcement custody with ‘Gooba,’ it seems like public sentiment surrounding him has largely changed, and even caused several of the Hype House’s members to delete the videos they’d taken with him. Paparazzi from the Hollywood Fix caught up to the Hype House’s Thomas Petrou and asked him about the outrage around his collaboration with 6ix9ine — to which the co-founder had a surprising answer: “[It was] definitely not the move, but we all make mistakes and move on. I try to learn from them and not make the same ones in the future.” “I didn’t really know all of the backstory to him,” he continued. “I knew the snitching stuff and the gang affiliation, and I was like, ‘Probably not the best collab.’ But I wasn’t aware of half the s**t that was going on. That was my bad. Won’t happen again.” Petrou likewise admitted that he’d worked out the collaboration with Tekashi’s team in a single day, explaining that they were each using each other to gain views and exposure in a “mutual thing.” (Topic begins at 0:36) While he also acknowledged that many Hype House members have since taken down their videos with 6ix9ine, Petrou is leaving up his own vlog with the rapper, claiming that merely deleting an offensive post doesn’t make a situation “go away,” nor is it indicative of real change. They only regret it bc people got pissed at them for it they don’t give a crap about what the dude did ??♀️ — Rayna (@raynadidathing) September 12, 2020 Of course he won’t delete it because he knows it will get views. If he really regrets it he would delete it . — D (@kittycatdani1) September 12, 2020 So Thomas won’t delete his video, but has already deleted over 1,000 YouTube videos when he relaunched himself as hype house manager… seems suss to me — Chrissie Dugmore (@chrissie_77) September 12, 2020 However, it doesn’t look like critics are convinced of Petrou’s claims, with many accusing the star of hoping to get revenue from views for the vlog by leaving it up. No matter which way you swing it, the reception around the 6ix9ine collaborations haven’t been positive, and it seems like many influencers are thinking twice about the next celebrity they decide to bring aboard.

  • Thomas Petrou hits back at Daisy Keech over Hype House accusations – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou hits back at Daisy Keech over Hype House accusations Daisy Keech / Hype HouseHype House manager Thomas Petrou has hit back at Daisy Keech, releasing a video addressing many of the claims she had made about him and fellow TikTok star Chase Hudson. Following her departure from the Hype House, Daisy Keech posted a video revealing her decision to leave the house and the drama between her and fellow TikTok creators Thomas Petrou and Lil Huddy. Daisy received an outpouring of support for “exposing” her former group, however, Hype House co-founder Thomas Petrou has finally responded to the claims, sharing his own version of how the feud began. Thomas Petrou uploaded a video to the Hype House’s YouTube channel on April 2 and explained that he was going to share the “real truth” about what went on behind the scenes. He addressed many of the points that Daisy brought up in her video, such as who put in money to initially fund the group. He even shared some payment receipts which revealed that he, Daisy and Chase had all invested a similar sum to kickstart the Hype House. Another major topic he spoke out about was his role as a co-founder and claimed that he did not have as much control over everyone as Daisy had made out in her video. “I’m pretty much the manager of the Hype House, I help coordinate a lot of the events…I’m one of the people that makes decisions but not without talking to everyone on the team. But at the end of the day someone has to run the house,” he added, sharing his role within the group. Thomas also revealed that he had grown cautious of Daisy and her lawyer, who he claimed had “suspicious intentions”, as time went by and claimed that he had lost trust in Keech after she had filed for the Hype House trademarks by herself. The Hype House founder also provided screenshots of part of the conversation between him and Keech regarding her ability to access the group’s social media pages and email account. He later shared that Daisy had done little to promote the Hype House compared to many of the other stars since it was founded, claiming that she had missed out on many important press events before ultimately leaving the group and filing a lawsuit against her former housemates. Keech has not responded to Petrou publicly, but there is also the small matter of the lawsuit to contend with.

  • Thomas Petrou calls out Roselie for ‘lying’ about Hype House break-ins – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou calls out Roselie for ‘lying’ about Hype House break-ins Roselie Arritola / Thomas Petrou InstagramHype House manager Thomas Petrou wasn’t convinced of TikTok and Instagram rising talent Roselie Arritola’s response denying a second break-in to the LA mansion. Arritola, a 14-year-old influencer, had previously received backlash for TikTok videos that showed her in and around the Hype House without the permission of the residents. The renewed criticism toward her stems from clips recently posted that showed her there again. According to the young content creator, her mother had published those videos without her knowledge, but reassured audiences that she was “especially not at the Hype House for a second time” after what happened before. After Arritola posted the since-deleted Tik Tok at the Hype House, Petrou asked her to “please stop breaking into [their] home” in the video’s comments. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDCkBoKHECn/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link “My mother had posted three videos, I believe, without letting me know,” she said. “And they were videos we had filmed when we were there, but no, we were not at the Hype House for the second time.” He expressed doubt after Arritola posted her response to speculation. This caused waves of comments from general audiences expressing similar sentiments, as well as a brief chime-in from Dixie D’amelio on the situation. As the drama developed, Petrou responded to Arritola’s account of the situation, saying: “Whoa whoa I’m so sorry. You only broke into a house once! So sorry, that makes it better. Your mom should take your phone.” His response once again set people off, which prompted a follow-up explanation from Arritola after the exchange resulted in cyberbullying. https://www.instagram.com/p/CDC7o-zHWUd/ “It’s beyond why Thomas felt the need to tell everyone that I’m lying about not being at the original [Hype] House for a second time because I’m really not,” Arritola said. “One: I’m in Florida so I don’t really know how I would be at your original house. And two: I do have receipts that I can show you in that outfit from the only time I was there.” She asked the Hype House manager to refrain from accusations without any proof as it’s causing her mental hardships from the online backlash. This comes just days after Petrou begged fans to stop showing up at the house, as it was starting to become a problem for residents of the local neighborhood.

Thomas Petrou and James Charles hit back at rumors of partying in the Bahamas YouTube: James Charles, Thomas PetrouA slew of high-profile TikTok stars are coming under fire for traveling to the Bahamas for a New Year’s vacation — but some influencers are being wrongfully accused amid the outrage. The past few days have been rife with backlash against Charli D’Amelio, big sis Dixie, Noah Beck, Chase Hudson, Madi Monroe and others after they posted about their spontaneous trip to the Bahamas. Considering the current global health crisis, it comes as little surprise that these personalities are being met with outrage from critics amid their travels — but other content creators are getting thrown into the mix, despite staying at home for the holidays. • Thomas Petrou begs fans to stop showing up at the Hype House – Dexerto

Thomas Petrou begs fans to stop showing up at the Hype House YouTube: Thomas Petrou[jwplayer ksH6zuKH]Hype House co-founder Thomas Petrou is begging fans to stop showing up to the content group’s private home, claiming that over 100 people are visiting the location each day and disrupting the neighborhood. Being an internet famous superstar is no cake-walk; plenty of top online entertainers have had their privacy breached in serious ways by over enthusiastic fans, and TikTokers are no exception to this unfortunate rule. Thomas Petrou, co-founder of the Hype House of TikTok fame, is now begging fans to stop showing up to the locale after the address of the entertainment group has apparently been made common knowledge among viewers. In a series of Instagram posts, Petrou revealed that over 100 visitors a day are showing up to the House, and is even looking to move as a result of their now-serious lack of personal privacy. “Hi everyone,” Petrou began. “We love and appreciate all of you, but please stop coming to our home. We’re looking at moving once again due to a lack of privacy. We have over 100 people come to our house every day, and it’s going to get us evicted. Please stop.” That’s not all; Petrou also uploaded a video of the situation, which showed a slew of young fans gathering outside the Hype House and mingling in the street. “This is unreal,” he captioned the video. “Please respect us enough to not come to our home.” This isn’t the first time that members of the Hype House have asked fans to keep their distance, either; TikTok star Nick Austin published a similar message to his Instagram nearly a month prior to Petrou’s own posts, admitting that they’d already moved previously due to fans flocking to their old address. The Hype House isn’t the only TikTok collaborative suffering from such a privacy breach, either, with Bryce Hall also admitting that the address of the Sway House had also been leaked at the beginning of July. With major personalities like PewDiePie having his address leaked in the past, to Twitch stars like Sweet Anita even being stalked by a disturbed fan, these kinds of scenarios don’t seem to be slowing down soon — leading to an urgent conversation on the topics of personal privacy and small-time celebrity.

  • This viral Dunkin’ Donuts drink order has 14 donuts worth of sugar – Dexerto

This viral Dunkin’ Donuts drink order has 14 donuts worth of sugar TikTok: flavcityAfter Dunkin’ Donuts added their fall flavors to the menu, a TikToker has gone viral for sharing their extremely sugary pumpkin coffee drink. Get your boots, favorite sweaters, and taste buds ready, because fall flavors are upon us! Not only is it time for classic seasonal flavors, but new ones as well, as places like Dunkin’ Donuts have added to their beverage and bakery options. Though Dunkin’ Donuts is popular for its pumpkin spice, iced chai lattes, and anything toasty during the fall season, one of their pumpkin-flavored coffee options has caused quite the stir on TikTok for the amount of sugar it has. Sure, it may only come around once a year, but what about the loads of sugar in the tasty drink? Well, one TikToker took time to run through the label of a specific Dunkin’s drink consisting of 14 glazed donuts worth of sugar… that’s right, not one, not two, but 14 donuts! A large pumpkin swirl frozen coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts has 1000 calories and 46 teaspoons of sugar For fans of coffee and everything pumpkin spice, they’re in luck, as Dunkin’ Donuts has finally added their fall flavors to their menu options. There’s the pumpkin spice signature latte, nutty pumpkin coffee, and of course, pumpkin swirl. However, for one pumpkin swirl drink, those who try it just might be sent into the ultimate sugar coma, as the frozen coffee drink consists of 14 glazed donuts worth of sugar. Not only that, but the large pumpkin swirl frozen coffee consists of 185 grams of sugar, which is equivalent to 46 teaspoons. It also caps at a staggering 1000 calories. Being that the sugar in Dunkin’s popular fall beverage was so mind-blowing, a TikToker who goes by the name of Flavcity explained the health detriments of the pumpkin swirl drink. In his now-viral video, he can be heard asking, “Who the f—k thought it was a good idea to put this on the menu?” Flavcity then proceeded to talk about all the sugar in the frozen coffee drink while a box of 14 glazed donuts sat next to it to show viewers just how unhealthy the sugar ratio is. Those who have seen Flavcity’s video online about Dunkin’s sugary fall drink have taken to the comments section in astonishment, saying, “My jaw dropped,” as well as, “How is it legal for companies to have this on their menu?” Others found it hilarious how Flavcity did the Dunkin’s drink review while sitting inside their store, saying, “He blasted Dunkin’ Donuts while still sitting in the shop,” as well as, “Doing it inside the Dunkin Donuts is legendary.” Though the large pumpkin swirl frozen coffee consists of all that sugar, a small one does not. So, if one is still craving their favorite fall flavors of Dunkin’ Donuts, and is afraid of consuming too much sugar or can’t do so for health reasons, just go for the smaller option!

  • This YouTuber is recreating Squid Game IRL with a $10,000 prize – Dexerto

This YouTuber is recreating Squid Game IRL with a $10,000 prize Penguinz0/Netflix: Squid GamePopular YouTuber Charles ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White has taken inspiration from Netflix’s latest hit series ‘Squid Game’ by uploading his own recreation of the show’s challenges with a massive $10,000 prize. The Netflix original series ‘Squid Game’ has taken the internet by storm with its intense plotline based on childhood games as challenges to win millions. At the same time MrBeast started teasing the idea of re-creating the challenges from the series, MoistCr1TiKal was uploading his own inspiration from the show. Cr1TiKal recreates Squid Game While explaining that he invited a group of players to participate in the games for a massive $10,000 prize pool, Charlie stated that the only game they are directly copying from the show is the first one — Red Light, Green Light — in which participants have a set amount of time to cross a wide field. If players move after the creator yells red light, they are eliminated. As the players got ready for the first challenge, Charlie put on his replica ‘The Front Man’ mask and got himself ready. Standing beside two masked people holding paintball guns, Charlie laid out the rules: “Good evening players. Tonight you will participate in a series of four games. If you complete all four games, you will receive $10,000.” Squid Game challenge episode Two Uploaded on October 13, MoistCr1TiKal greeted the players to their second game: “Happy Birthday, Congratulations on making it this far. You have chosen your weapons and proven yourself to be admirable warriors in my thunder dome of misery.” For the next game, he placed all the participants in a room filled with pinatas. He explained that four keys were placed in them at random, and the four players that find the keys will move on to the next game. After they were whittled down to the final four, the players were brought into a separate room with four cases laying on a table. Charlie instructed them to choose a case each, which they quickly found out held a small amount of money. One of the player’s cases had a star inside, which allowed the player to choose a partner for the next game. Squid Game challenge episode three On October 15, the third episode of the Squid Game challenge was uploaded. After being escorted to an inflatable platform, the pairs were told to knock each other off of the platform. The players who were knocked off were eliminated. The last two players were sent to the final game and given the chance to decide amongst themselves how they were going to handle the prize winnings. With the options of split or take, the front man explained there were three options. The creator said: “If both choose to take, you both forfeit the prize and neither of you wins. If both choose split, you each leave with $5,000. If one chooses to take and the other split, one of you wins and the other loses.” After decisions were made, one person chose to split, and the other take. Providing several plot twists to the game, the winner decided to split the winnings anyway, and then the second-place participant gave his winnings all to other players. While the game was tricky for all, the kindness of the final four allowed almost everyone to leave with part of the prize.

  • This Twitch hot tub streamer has mastered the art of baiting viewers – by never appearing – Dexerto

This Twitch hot tub streamer has mastered the art of baiting viewers – by never appearing Twitch: Taylor_JevauxAlthough it’s not as popular as it once used to be, Twitch’s hot tub meta used to be one of the biggest trends in the streaming world. One streamer, Taylor Jevaux, has now mastered the art of the hot tub streams – and it involves rarely ever being on camera. With over 1.8 million followers, Taylor Jevaux is among the top 20 most-followed female streamers on all of Twitch – although over 1 million of this following spiked in May 2021, so it is potentially the result of a follow bot or error on Twitch’s end. Although viewership dropped over the following 12 months, as the hot tub meta subsided, Taylor’s channel boomed again in 2022, with her average viewership rising to as much as 8,500 in June. Her numbers are once again rising as she continues to entertain thousands of viewers, with an average of almost 5000 viewers in July 2023 compared to 2800 viewers a few months prior in March. But, there is something very peculiar about Taylor’s stream, which sets it apart from almost any other; she is rarely ever actually on it. Hot tub streamer stays off camera Although each stream lasts roughly four hours, Taylor is typically not visible for over 90% of this time. Instead, she stands to the side, just off camera, talking to viewers who simply stare at an inflatable hot tub for hours on end. Throughout the streams, Taylor will continually reiterate that she’s “just about to get on”, and do regular countdowns – which often reach zero, and then nothing happens. Sometimes the countdown will just start again. As chat spams messages like “scam” and “boring” – the view count continues to rise. Is this a new Twitch meta? Simply building up constant anticipation for the streamer eventually appearing in a big reveal? Eventually, Taylor will in fact appear, usually to perform body-weight squats in the hot tub for 5 minutes or so, before promptly moving off camera again. Most bizarre, however, is that the viewership numbers are often highest before Taylor appears, and will drop once she actually gets on to do the squats or whatever task is on for that day. Presumably, this is because people are tuning in to see how long it will actually take for the streamer to make an appearance; is the build-up more intriguing than the content itself? Despite pulling in over of 3,000 viewers on most streams, and as high as 19,000 on some occasions, Taylor’s on-screen sub count is also suspiciously low, showing only 28 subs on July 3, 2023. According to Twitch stats website StreamsCharts however, Taylor’s sub count is actually as high as 581. The chat on these streams is, perhaps unsurprisingly, rather toxic. Many viewers bemoan the long wait times for Taylor to appear on camera, and are then hyper-critical when she eventually does make a short appearance. However, Taylor doesn’t seem to care one bit. She may have fully mastered the art of baiting thousands of Twitch viewers all at once – and it’s certainly working.

TheSushiDragon’s production rivals that of major Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect, who is known throughout the internet for his slick transitions and his infamous, green-screen ‘arena.’ TheSushiDragon made his big break upon receiving a host from another streamer, after losing his job in the middle of a broadcast. Lucky for him, the streamer got partnered with Twitch within the same week – giving his former prospects a major 180 degree turn In fact, TheSushiDragon used to stream out of his closet, due to noise complaints from his neighbors. Now, the streamer is bent on providing excitement to his audience with every broadcast – and it seems to be working out in his favor, thus far.

This TikToker looks just like Selena Gomez and fans can’t believe it TikTok: babywieringA TikToker who looks just like singer and former Disney star Selena Gomez is taking over social media as fans can’t believe they aren’t the same person. TikTok is home to a slew of celebrity lookalikes, some of which are so convincing that fans have wondered if they aren’t actually incredibly convincing deepfakes. Some of the more prominent doppelgangers on TikTok look like spitting image of a-list actresses Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie, who actually teamed up for an uncanny cosplay duo of Black Widow and Harley Quinn that went viral. Now, another celebrity lookalike is taking over TikTok… and she looks exactly like actress and singer Selena Gomez. TikToker goes viral for looking just like Selena Gomez To unwitting viewers, this could be Gomez’s secondary TikTok account — but it’s definitely not. Instead, she’s a content creator by the name of ‘babywiering,’ and she’s racking up over a million views thanks to her most recent video. In the clip, babywiering dances to a mashup of ‘Heartless’ by Kanye West and the Weekend in a mini skirt and crop top, giving some viewers pause, as the only difference between the TikToker and Gomez is her short hair. The video has garnered over 1.6 million views and more than 165,000 million likes, with commenters stunned at the similarities between the two women. “You look more like Selena Gomez than Selena Gomez,” one commenter joked. “WHAT IN THE SELENA GOMEZ IS GOING ON HERE?” another asked. “My girl won the genetic lottery,” someone else quipped. Although Selena hasn’t responded to her TikTok doppelganger just yet, fans can’t help but notice the similarities between them — something that has happened to other celebrities on the app in the past, with Ariana Grande lookalike Paige Niemann notably coming under fire after recreating the singer’s wedding photos in 2021.

MrBeast is YouTube’s single most-subscribed independent content creator, boasting over 188 million subscribers on his main channel alone. It’s well-known that MrBeast is an extremely driven individual, having launched multiple businesses like MrBeast Burger and Feastables, and even creating his own philanthropy, on top of making numerous additional channels that have enjoyed wild amounts of success. As such, aspiring content creators often turn to MrBeast for his advice on making a successful channel… and one budding influencer took one of his ideas to heart. TikToker takes on MrBeast’s scratch-off challenge In 2022, MrBeast appeared on an episode of the TMG podcast, where he pitched an idea for a social media channel centered around buying scratch-off tickets until the creator wins big at the lottery. “You could start a channel and just title it, ‘Buying Scratch-Offs Until I Win The Lottery,’” the YouTuber said. “Literally, just name the channel that. And then you just buy scratch-off tickets, film you scratching them off, and just do it until you win.” Little did MrBeast know that someone out there would actually take his idea and run with it. A user on TikTok has actually created an account titled ‘Buying Scratch Offs,’ where they film themselves buying scratch-off tickets to reveal the amount they won. The entire account was inspired by MrBeast, as told in the TikToker’s very first upload. Thus far, the profile doesn’t have very many views… but it was only started six days ago, so there’s certainly time for viewers to tune in to see how his scratch-off journey ends up paying off. This wouldn’t be the first time a creator has wanted to get MrBeast’s attention. Earlier this year, a TikToker went viral for tattooing MrBeast’s name on his body in an attempt to get the YouTube star to notice them.

Without wasting any time, the TikTok user introduces himself as Chris before quickly showing off his cat and remote control droid. That’s not all, as he shows off his six Xbox consoles, TVs on every wall, and RGB lighting “absolutely everywhere.” He also mentioned that you shouldn’t worry about his cooking ability as he makes up for it by going to Disney World six times a year. After heading downstairs, Chris showed off a complete collection of US released Nintendo 64 games and Lightsabers. “I may be only 5’9″ but I can be your only nine-five,” he said at the end in one last attempt to garner the attention of the ladies. The creator has opened up his messages on Instagram for those interested. You may have to do all the cooking, but at least he has video games.

Despite reaching the one-year milestone, the streamer has his sights set on going another year straight and plans to make the next year even better for his fans. “I will not be ending the 24/7 experience. I want to continue to upgrade it, and add new experiences to it,” he explained. “Eventually I also want to start a content house with a few others and try that for a year. The current goal is 1000 days straight.” I’m the first person in history to spend a year of their life live online every minute — GPHustlaKICK (@GPHustla) August 15, 2021 Despite being live 24/7, GPHustla’s life isn’t as out of control as some may expect. If he needs to go out, he’ll transition to an IRL stream and when he’s inside, he’ll be playing games, watching videos and hanging out with viewers. In fact, you could even say he feels better than ever. “I want to let everyone know that first and foremost my mental and physical health are taken care of and if they were ever threatened, I would stop this immediately,” he revealed. “I truly am happy doing this and I like to think I do it for more than myself. There are lots of people that tell me I inspire them every time they check the stream and I’m still live. I know plenty of people that wish they could do this and I know people that never got the chance, so I do it for all of us. Life is short and I don’t need much to be happy.” Of course, streaming non-stop can have some issues, such as power consumption or blackouts out of his control. Luckily, these hiccups have only emerged a few times and he was able to keep the stream going. “At this point right now, I basically use my phone as my backup device and live stream from there if I have a power issue or internet issue,” he said. “I’ve been lucky and only had to deal with that a few times, but it did not stop the 24/7 live. I plan on adding a backup generator and UPS battery system in the future.” The past year has also seen some tremendous growth for the streamer as he continues his rise to fame, including some impressive hosts from some top Twitch names such as Germany’s MontanaBlack. “International articles have brought me global recognition and some of the biggest names on the platform have shouted me out multiple times including Ludwig, MoistCr1tikal, and many more,” he proudly stated. “I still believe there is a major portion of the platform that hasn’t heard about the 24/7 stream but that only makes me want to work harder.” As for when the time comes to call it quits, GPHustla doesn’t believe converting back into a non-streaming routine would be challenging at all. “It’s a simple process of just shutting this all down. That being said I do feel like it might take a while before I stop talking to myself and the non-existent chat,” he joked.

  • This popular YouTuber is accusing the Google Plus shutdown of breaking YouTube – Dexerto

This popular YouTuber is accusing the Google Plus shutdown of breaking YouTube Hugely popular YouTuber Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach has determined the potential culprit of YouTube’s recent issues, which he believes are due to the ongoing shutdown of social network Google Plus. According to Markiplier, Google Plus’s deep integration into (and subsequent removal from) YouTube’s website could be responsible for the service’s widely-reported bugs, including its global blackout on October 16. “As they’re shutting down Google Plus, it is breaking more and more things inside YouTube,” he explained. “These things are still broken – and they’re getting worse.” He claimed that he’d reached out to YouTube about its issues, to no avail: which he believed was because the site’s staff doesn’t know how to fix the problem. “I think the reason is, they don’t know how to fix it,” he suggested. “I think that’s the main problem with YouTube right now. …Google Plus was so deeply integrated into YouTube that they have no idea how to separate it out at this point.” He theorized that YouTube had pushed a change to the site’s code on the date of the blackout, which ultimately prompted the shutdown. Additionally, he thinks that YouTube staff might be trying to understand what caused this issue in the interim before pushing for another change. Markiplier felt that YouTube’s issues wouldn’t be placed in such a bad light if they communicated with their community, stating that the site is ‘pretending nothing is wrong.’ Google Plus is being removed over a ten-month period due to an initially undisclosed security breach in the platform, which allegedly exposed users’ profile information.

  • This pet duck makes over $50,000 a year off viral TikTok videos – Dexerto

This pet duck makes over $50,000 a year off viral TikTok videos Instagram/dunkin.ducks/PixabayA woman’s pet duck is making more money than most humans, thanks to viral TikTok videos that earn the two over $50,000 a year. Munchkin, a pet duck with over 2.7M followers on TikTok, has taken the internet by storm with videos showcasing the shenanigans she gets into with her owner, Krissy Ellis. Their channel, Dunkin Ducks, received its name because of the small town Ellis is from. Speaking with New York Post, she explained that Milford, Pennsylvania only has a single traffic light and the only fast food chain available is Dunkin Donuts. As such, Dunkin Ducks was born. “Munchkin is a bit of a sweetheart with a little dash of diva in there,” she revealed. “She may very well be the most spoiled duck in the world.” It’s easy to see why, as the duck has contributed greatly to Ellis’ viral fame. You could even say Munchkin is the Batman to her Robin, but their journey began long before TikTok. How does a pet duck make so much money? According to Ellis, when she was just sixteen, she started taking her pet all over the place, even for walks and hikes. Sadly, this lead to some bullying in high school, but she never let it faze her. Eventually, she created an Instagram for Munchkin – and it took off. “I make more money in about half-an-hour creating and posting my content than I was making working over 40 hours a week at a grocery store,” she revealed. View this post on Instagram Thanks to the TikTok Creator Fund and other sponsorship deals, she’s making about $4,500 a month with her business. This amounts to over $50,000 a year. Not quite Scrooge McDuck levels, but this is real life., and not a kids’ cartoon. “One day the thing you are being bullied for is going to be the reason that people love you,” Ellis said, advising anyone dealing with haters online to stick with it as it’s never too late. Turns out having a pet duck is a lot better and more profitable than it’s quacked up to be.

  • This PewDiePie Fortnite skin is exactly what he needs to beat T-Series – Dexerto

This PewDiePie Fortnite skin is exactly what he needs to beat T-Series A very creative PewDiePie fan has created the best likeness of the YouTuber in Fortnite, complete with his own merch and emote, saying it is the “last chance to beat T-Series”. PewDiePie, real name Felix Kjellberg, has been the most subscribed YouTuber on the platform for years, but is now facing competition from an Indian record label and production company, T-Series. Although PewDiePie has been holding on to his spot, just, T-Series is catching up fast, and it’s predicted that the Swede will lose his crown soon. However, fellow YouTubers and fans alike have rallied in an effort to keep him at number 1, and one such suggestion from fans was that Epic Games give him his own skin in Fortnite, which players must subscribe to his channel to receive. Of course, it was unlikely that Epic would ever show such favoritism to a YouTuber, especially one who doesn’t even play Fortnite, but that didn’t stop a creative fan from making a fully-fledged PewDiePie skin. Reddit user u/Samarskiy shared his creation to the ‘Pewdiepiesubmissions’ subreddit, where it quickly garnered lots of attention, with even the YouTuber himself complimenting on how good it was. Samarskiy also shared an image of how it would look in the Fortnite items locker, where PewDiePie fans hope it could be for real one day. Fortnite’s total player base recently hit over 200 million, so there’s no doubt that if a PewDiePie skin was added to the game with the requirement of subscribing to his channel, he would take back control in the race vs T-Series. PewDiePie acknowledged the creation in his latest video, which was uploaded on the same day as Fortnite’s Season 7 released – although unfortunately for him, no such skin was anywhere to be seen with the new update. PewDiePie is currently leading T-Series by around 400,000 subscribers at the time of writing, with the gap having been less than 40,000 at one point. YouTubers like MrBeast have been doing their upmost to keep PewDiePie, an independent creator, ahead of the corporate giant which is T-Series. Team 10 member Justin Roberts even claims to have paid $1 million for a giant billboard to go up in Times Square, New York, telling passers by to subscribe to PewDiePie.

  • This “nightmare fuel” McDonald’s has the internet divided – Dexerto

This “nightmare fuel” McDonald’s has the internet divided McDonald’sA McDonald’s in Poland has gone viral for it’s crocheted exterior and interior, and people don’t know what to think of it. The McDonald’s was decorated with giant knitted blankets over the entire store to celebrate the launch of their Winter menu back in 2023, but the store is going viral now for dividing internet opinion. Some people think the store is really cool and are begging to dine there, and other’s are saying it looks like a nightmare straight out of the backrooms; what do you think? The McDonald’s in Ustron, Poland was covered in pink, yellow and green yarn and huge buttons – just like a giant cardigan, complete with huge buttons. The decor was similar on the inside, with all chairs, carpets, and even counters, covered in yarn to make for a cozy eating experience. The decoration was part of the promotion for the Lumberjack Burger (a burger with beef and chicken patties, bacon, cheese, lettuce, and special sauce). It took four months of development and 28 days to install the design with over 50 workers involved. People online are going wild for this McDonald’s, saying that they couldn’t imagine what it would have looked like months later after kids had spilt ketchup all over the fabric floor and seating. Others were saying that they couldn’t believe this McDonald’s was in Poland, “If you wouldn’t have told me I would of thought it was in Ohio.” playing on the Gen-Z slang of calling bad things ‘Ohio’. Others, however, didn’t think it was just ugly in a funny way, and found the interior to be nightmare fuel: “IDK why but for me it’s kinda scary.” The interior does have a creepy nostalgic vibe reminiscent of the backrooms, which refers to an internet trend describing a space outside of reality that you somehow feel like you have visited before, maybe in a childhood nightmare. In general, the rooms are creepy, decorated in primary colors, and kind of nondescript. However, others thought this was a really innovative concept, with someone noting, “Bielsko Biała (the nearby city) has a long history in its dyeing, industry so it’s a nice touch.” Others were saying that this looks like the “coziest McDonald’s ever” and that “Polish McDonald’s is top tier.” Unfortunately, because this was a one-time promotion, the McDonald’s is no longer wearing several brightly colored sweaters. However, if you want a taste of international McDonalds’ menus, a Global Menu has just been launched.

  • This Last of Us Clicker cosplay is so good fans want a new Universal ride – Dexerto

This Last of Us Clicker cosplay is so good fans want a new Universal ride Naughty Dog, PlayStationFans are begging Universal Studios to add a new scare maze to Halloween Horror Nights after a cosplayer expertly pulled off a frightening rendition of The Last of Us’s Clickers. The Last of Us is back in the limelight thanks to HBO’s ongoing adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit post-apocalyptic video game series. The show, already hailed as one of the most accurate video game adaptations of all time, follows the journey of Joel and Ellie as they make their way through an America ravaged by the “infected” (in other words, zombies) — thus far, an almost one-to-one comparison to the original game, aside from a few new tweaks from the showrunners. In the latest episode, viewers get introduced to the ‘Clickers.’ These creatures mark the third stage of an ‘infected,’ which is almost totally overtaken by the Cordyceps fungus. It relies on echolocation to spot prey, using “clicking” vocalizations that gave them their namesake. The Clickers were met with rave reviews from fans of the games, who marveled at the artistry with which the special effects team brought the zombies to life… and even inspired one talented cosplayer to try their own hand at the fungus-infused critters. Cosplayer’s TLOU Clicker costume takes over social media Cosplayer Ivan King uploaded his take on a Clicker to TikTok on January 16, and it’s safe to say that fans are impressed. They managed to craft a headpiece of the cordyceps fungus blossoming out of their face, including a few shelves of mushroom all over their body, as well. Combined with their tattered clothes and jerky movements, this real-life Clicker is a close second to HBO’s SFX makeup — and the sound effects make it all the more chilling. Viewers instantly praised Ivan King’s cosplay and are even calling for Universal to create a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house attraction for The Last of Us. “Well, if Universal Studios doesn’t make this their new scare maze,” one commenter said. “Hope to see some of these on Halloween this year!” another suggested. “Well done.” The cosplay has even gone viral on Twitter, where users had similar sentiments for Universal’s yearly Halloween attraction. “Universal Studios needs to make #TheLastOfUsHBO their new Horror Nights maze,” the poster said. “OMGGG no, cuz I’d book my tickets as soon as they announce STOP,” one fan admitted. We can’t lie — it’d definitely be super cool to experience the horror of the Last of Us’ infected in real life. Just think what they could do with a bloater! • This Keanu Reeves deepfake is taking over TikTok – Dexerto

This Keanu Reeves deepfake is taking over TikTok TikTok: unreal_keanuA parody account pretending to be Keanu Reeves is racking up millions of views on TikTok as users are convinced the viral deepfake is actually the famous ‘Matrix’ actor. TikTok is rife with celebrity doppelgangers. Just take the famous Scarlett Johannson and Margot Robbie lookalikes that went viral for their uncanny resemblance to the Marvel and DC actresses. However, some TikTokers are using deepfake software to imitate famous actors… and they’re racking up millions of followers. Deepfake software refers to programs that can successfully overlay an image of someone else’s face onto another person’s body, some of which are so convincing it’s downright disturbing. A TikToker has been uploading videos apparently using deepfake programs to put Reeves’ face over his own — and he’s rolling in the algorithm as viewers can’t help but laugh at a fake Keanu doing ridiculous things (or are actually convinced it’s him). User ‘unreal_keanu‘ boasts over 6.5 million followers on TikTok, and it’s all because he’s using deepfake software to appear as Keanu Reeves while doing all manner of activities. In some, he’s doing popular dances; in others, he’s recreating viral TikTok trends. Earlier videos look a bit stiffer compared to his most recent content, but that isn’t stopping some viewers from being convinced this is actually Keanu’s secret burner account that he uses to let off some steam. “I’m still not convinced this isn’t Keanu,” one viewer commented. “This dude looks more like Keanu than Keanu does now,” another joked. “I fully followed this dude thinking it was the real Keanu,” yet another admitted. Is Keanu Reeves on TikTok? Unfortunately, this is not the case as Keanu doesn’t have a TikTok profile (although he reportedly made an account back in 2020) – but there are a slew of other top celebrities on the platform, including (but not limited to) Jason Derulo, Will Smith, Billie Eilish, and more.

  • This Instagram influencer isn’t a real person: Who is Imma? – Dexerto

This Instagram influencer isn’t a real person: Who is Imma? AwwThe current worldwide outbreak has pushed companies towards using automatically immune virtual influencers to promote their products on platforms like Instagram. Could influencers like Aww’s Imma be here to stay for the long run? When Riot Games released an Instagram account for LoL Seraphine, it turned out to be a marked change in how the game was marketed. Normally, Riot would tease future champions through some sort of in-game easter egg or a cinematic trailer. Seraphine was instantly different. A series of cryptic Instagram posts culminated in the collaboration of the character with virtual pop group K/DA. She was released as a playable character as part of patch 10.22, in the days leading up to the 2020 Worlds finals, with the song MORE released by K/DA the same day. Seraphine’s release seems to be part of a general trend towards creating virtual characters, celebrities, and influencers who aren’t restricted by the bounds of reality. All the fuss about virtual Instagram influencer Imma Given the current situation, some brands have turned to promoting their products through virtual influencers like Imma. Originally an art project, Imma’s popularity has snowballed into an Instagram page with over 300k followers, and sponsored posts from companies as large as Porsche. View this post on Instagram 「Porsche Taycan × Miyashita Park – Sustainable Project 」開催中とのことで、渋谷のMiyashita Parkにお邪魔しましたっ🧠 あたしが今年3月に一緒に日本各地を旅した、ポルシェのフル電動スポーツカー「タイカン」是非皆んなにも近くで見て欲しいなっ😆 Went to see the Porsche Taycan, an all-electric car which I traveled with in March🧠 Please check out “Porsche Taycan × Miyashita Park – Sustainable Project” in Shibuya, Tokyo😆 #あたしCGらしい #サステナブルスポーツカー #タイカン #Porsche Christopher Travers, the founder of virtualhumans.org, has suggested to Bloomberg that virtual influencers could be here to stay. “Virtual influencers, while fake, have real business potential,” he said. “They are cheaper to work with than humans in the long term, are 100% controllable, can appear in many places at once, and, most importantly, they never age or die.” While this makes sense business-wise, it’s important to consider the ethical side of recruiting robots to humans. You only have to look at the Black Mirror episode ‘Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too’, where Miley Cyrus’ character gets replaced by a digital version of herself when she rebels against her bosses, for a warning about the unethical side of replacing human celebrities with digital versions. Regardless, creating fictional influencers has worked well for companies like art toys producer Superplastic. They created Instagram accounts for its characters Janky and Guggimon to market their products and give the characters more personality. Creating virtual influencers looks like a marketing strategy that will keep getting bigger, especially as worldwide restrictions on travel remain in place over winter.

  • This is why Logan Paul’s character won’t be returning to his YouTube Red series – Dexerto

This is why Logan Paul’s character won’t be returning to his YouTube Red series Controversial YouTuber Logan Paul has been completely booted from the YouTube Red show ‘Foursome,’ despite his YouTube original movie getting the greenlight. Paul’s character, Alec Fixler, has been removed from the show altogether – even though Fixler had been a major part of Foursome’s previous three seasons. This change is reportedly in response to Paul’s controversial vlog that he uploaded to the platform in early 2018, where he filmed a deceased person in Japan’s Aokigahara ‘Suicide Forest.’ Rather than casting another actor to play Alec, it appears that writers have decided to strip the show of the character altogether. This news follows the recent release of Paul’s YouTube Red movie on October 17, ‘The Thinning: New World Order,’ which was given the greenlight after nearly a year of being shelved after the YouTuber’s massive debacle. This release itself saw some criticism, as YouTuber PewDiePie’s original show, ‘Scare PewDiePie: Season Two’ was completely canceled following a controversy where he used anti-semitic language in a prank video. PewDiePie himself commented on the disparity in one of his videos, where he took issue with YouTube’s inconsistencies in regards to punishing its creators and the teams who worked on their original projects. YouTube explained the release of The Thinning as “fairness” to the hard work of the film’s staff in a statement to the Verge. While YouTube initially punished Paul’s vlog by removing him from their premium advertising program, it seems that he is still paying for his mistake with this expulsion.

  • This amazing fan-made PewDiePie vs T-Series movie trailer will make you wish it was real – Dexerto

This amazing fan-made PewDiePie vs T-Series movie trailer will make you wish it was real PewDiePie’s intense battle with T-Series has rumbled on into 2019, and a creative fan has released a video that turns the epic feud into a movie trailer. Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg is currently the most subscribed-to YouTuber on the platform, with the Swede recently passing the 80 million subscribers mark. For months, Indian production company T-Series has been amassing hundreds of new subscribers every day, with many anticipating that T-Series would overtake Kjellberg at the top of the most subscribed list. It seems fans and creators alike are not prepared to see PewDiePie knocked off the top spot just yet, with other YouTubers like Mr Beast going to extreme lengths to promote PewDiePie’s channel, while some who watch the Swede have even taken to hacking technology to encourage people to subscribe to his channel. Now, a YouTuber called Billy Cramer has put together an incredible movie trailer, featuring Kjellberg spliced into clips from popular movies such as Star Wars, Mission Impossible and even Avengers: Infinity War. In the trailer, PewDiePie is clearly the hero attempting to remain at the top of the YouTube mountain as he battles against his enemy T-Series. Of course, this trailer is made by fans, and no production company has any intention of making a movie about the rivalry at the moment, so don’t expect to see it on the big screen any time soon. At time of writing, PewDiePie is over half a million subscribers ahead of T-Series, and you can keep an eye on the two accounts using our handy PewDiePie vs T-Series tracker.
