Nintendo Switch players slam price of Skyrim Anniversary Edition Bethesda SoftworksBethesda Softworks’ stealth release of Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Nintendo Switch unveiled has shocked players because of its high price tag. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition originally hit PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms in late 2021, marking the seminal RPG’s 10th anniversary. Most importantly, this updated version of the experience added a whole host of new content. Some of the more notable additions revolved around Creation Club features such as Survival Mode and fishing. We haven’t seen the last of the Dragonborn-starring adventure, though, evidenced by the recent stealth drop of Skyrim’s Anniversary Edition on Switch. Skyrim Anniversary Edition costs the most on Nintendo Switch The latest version of Skyrim launched for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox with a $50 price tag in 2021. Bethesda’s surprise release of the Anniversary Edition on Switch is considerably higher. Those who pick up this particular iteration of the RPG on the Nintendo Store can expect to pay a staggering $70. The news has bewildered Nintendo Switch players, though some have tried justifying the price by pointing out that it’s technically considered a deluxe edition because of the bundled extras. Again, it’s worth noting this very same package came to other platforms nearly a year ago at a much lower price. Of course, Skyrim Anniversary Edition doesn’t count as the first Nintendo Switch game to bear a $70 price tag. A version of Breath of the Wild featuring the expansion pass bundle costs $80 on the eShop. Still, the Skyrim Anniversary Edition situation adds another wrinkle to the ongoing discourse about the rising prices of AAA video games.

Nintendo Switch Sports platforms It’s really in the title, but Nintendo Switch Sports will be a Switch-only title. It won’t be coming to other console platforms such as PlayStation or Xbox and it will not be available for PC players either. Nintendo Switch Sports trailer The three-minute Nintendo Switch Sports trailer was one of the headline acts of Nintendo’s February 2022 Direct presentation. In it, the developers showed off all the new and returning game modes, and shared that a free DLC was coming later in the year with the return of Golf. This has inspired hope that even more mini-games will be added down the line to widen the variety and experience. Then, on March 31, 2022, Nintendo released another trailer promoting the game, this time a proper in-depth look at the game and its functions. Nintendo Switch sales drop as new console rumors ramp up – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch sales drop as new console rumors ramp up NintendoThe Nintendo Switch has established itself as one of the most popular video game consoles of all time, but, following rumors of a new version, its sales are starting to dip. Since its release back in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has gone on to be the legendary company’s best-selling home console, shipping over 111 million units worldwide. The Switch is home to a number of incredible exclusives, and with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope on the horizon, there are still plenty of reasons to own one. However, following reports that a brand-new Nintendo Switch console could drop in the coming months, sales for both hardware and software are in decline. Nintendo Switch sales down year-on-year In Q1 of 2022, 3.43 million Nintendo Switch consoles were sold, compared to 4.45 million during the same timeframe in 2021, marking a 22.9% drop. The story was similar when it comes to games too, as software sales were down 8.6% at 41.41 million copies. This is despite the release of two major exclusives during Q1; Nintendo Switch Sports in April and Mario Strikers: Battle League in June, which sold 4.84 million and 1.91 million units respectively. In fact, a large portion of software sales came from games released in past fiscal years. Kirby and the Forgotten Land sold a further 1.88 million copies, while 2017’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe shipped another 1.48 million. There’s no denying that the Switch has been a huge success for Nintendo, which only sits behind the DS and Game Boy in terms of the company’s all-time console sales. However, it does appear that the current Switch may have had its time in the sun. It’s no surprise then, that rumors have been swirling that a new model could arrive in 2022, with next-gen devs kits reportedly being sent out already. Of course, this is just speculation until Nintendo officially confirms that a new Switch is on the way. But with five years having passed since its original release, you get the feeling that a new version will arrive sooner rather than later.

Nintendo Switch Online update 2.3.1 patch notes: Game breaking Kirby glitch fixed – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch Online update 2.3.1 patch notes: Game breaking Kirby glitch fixed NintendoA new Nintendo Switch patch update has hit the live servers that aims to fix the N64 port of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards after players started to raise concerns of a game-breaking bug. The company had actually just added a batch of fixes for N64 titles while adding the classic Kirby game. Games like Star Fox 64, Dr. Mario 64, and Mario Golf got some love from Nintendo in fixing rendering issues and the like. As it turns out, now it’s Kirby’s time to come under the microscope to see if the devs can fix a big problem with the game that causes it to freeze in certain situations. Nintendo Switch Kirby 64 update fix The Nintendo Switch Online Version 2.3.1 was released on May 30 directly targeting the bug that players have been encountering in the N64 title. In the days after Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards launched, people kept having their game stall out due to a bug that would halt them from progressing should they take damage in a certain way. Read more: Mario Strikers Battle League datamine reveals 10 DLC characters coming Nintendo acknowledged the glitch on May 27 and apologized to affected players with a promise for a fix in the following days. “A bug has been found in #Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards for Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online that can prevent players from progressing under a certain condition,” they said. “A patch will be released early next week to fix this. We apologize for the inconvenience.” Technical details! The bug may have originated in N’s AOT recompiler for MIPS -> aarch64, since the only files updated were the AOT .nro and .pcb. Interestingly, switchbrew says the NRO isn’t used, but those were the only files changed (not even the emulator main executable). — OatmealDome (@OatmealDome) May 31, 2022 It wasn’t long into the next week that they released an update they hope will put the problems to rest. The brief patch was detailed by Switch dataminer ‘OatmealDome’ who didn’t see anything else in the update except for the Kirby fix. Hopefully, this will fix most of the problems Nintendo Switch Online users have been encountering as the devs continue to monitor the issue.

Nintendo Switch owners might be able to upgrade to new model for free [UPDATED] – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch owners might be able to upgrade to new model for free [UPDATED] Unsplash / NintendoUpdate, 5:00AM EST, August 18: Nintendo have now denied that this upgrade program exists, telling the Verge, “We do not have a Nintendo Switch exchange program. We always want players to enjoy their Nintendo Switch systems, and if anything ever gets in the way of that, we encourage them to visithttp://support.nintendo.com for support, or to contact our consumer support team.” Nintendo quietly released an updated Switch model on August 13, boasting a better processor, increased battery life, and more. Nintendo announced on July 10 that they would be releasing a smaller version of the massively popular Switch called the ‘Switch Lite’, aimed at making the popular device more affordable. The Japanese company also quietly announced at the same time that the regular Switch model would be getting a model update as well. Here’s how some owners could get an upgrade to the updated system for free. What is the model revision? Almost as quiet as it’s announcement, Nintendo pushed the latest model into stores on August 13. The revision comes with an updated processor, and as a result has drastically increased the battery life. Nintendo has suggested that the battery, in some cases, almost doubles that of the original model that was released in March 2017. According to the publisher, owners can expect a battery life of 4.5 to 9 hours over the original’s 2.5 to 6.5 hours. This was first discovered over on Reddit, when a user by the name of ‘DarthMewtwo’ was told by customer service that they “could only exchange for the new model if it was purchased after July 17th”. Polygon was able to verify this after contacting Nintendo’s customer support department directly, but added that owners who qualified for the exchange would have to cover the shipping and insurance cost. A pretty small price to pay, for such a drastic upgrade. While launch day Switch owners will not qualify for this exchange, it should at least reduce the sting for those that recently purchased a console in the last month, without being aware that a model update was coming. Read More: Xbox Scarlett promises huge improvements – The latest model revision has the exact same form factor as the launch editions, the only difference being the processor, which is responsible for the better battery performance. If you purchased your Switch after July 17, make sure to hit up Nintendo and exchange your console while the offer still stands. So far this has not been confirmed in other regions, except North America.

Nintendo Switch Online price finally revealed and fans are furious – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch Online price finally revealed and fans are furious Pexels: @olly / NintendoFans all over the world are furious after Nintendo confirmed the official pricing for the Nintendo Switch Online game expansion. During their Animal Crossing Direct presentation, Nintendo slipped in a bit of news about the recently announced expansion to their Switch Online service. The existing service is $19.99 yearly, with access to online gameplay, games like Pac-Man 99, as well as part of their NES and SNES game library. Back in September, they announced the existence of an expansion pack for the online service. The pack will allow fans to access N64 and Sega Genesis games on the handheld console — but not without an extra price — as the expansion was announced to cost $50 on top of the existing subscription price. Fans are furious about the price hike Despite offering extra features like Animal Crossing’s new paid DLC, fans have taken to social media furious about the added cost for features that they believe should be included in the base subscription. One fan believes we should “bully” the company into lowering the price: “Remember those times gaming Twitter came together and collectively bullied Xbox into not canceling Xbox live gold, and PlayStation not Shutting down the ps3, ps vita stores, we should do that to Nintendo and these new Nintendo switch online prices!” Remember those time gaming Twitter came together and collectively bullied Xbox into not cancelling Xbox live gold, and PlayStation not Shutting down the ps3, ps vita stores, we should do that to @NintendoAmerica and these new Nintendo switch online prices!!! — Tyler Newton 🐀 (@Tnewt) October 15, 2021 While others, like Twitter user ‘Til Plays,’ believe Nintendo is not offering as many features as their competitors: “When for around the same price your competitors are offering so much more value? This is a huge L for Nintendo!” Another fan believes that since the price is similar to Xbox Game Pass, it can be compared to it: “Xbox Game Pass offers far more value than NSO does and even if you don’t want to play those games via subscription, you still have the option to buy them separately.” https://twitter.com/CerealBox64/status/1449061986889834502?s=20 The Nintendo Switch Online expansion pack releases on October 25, 2021, and you will be able to adjust your existing plan on the website or directly on your console.

Nintendo suggests new console won’t replace Switch before April 2024 – Dexerto
Nintendo suggests new console won’t replace Switch before April 2024 NintendoAmid its declining sales, Nintendo has claimed that the Switch won’t receive a follow-up console before April 2024. With the Nintendo Switch entering its seventh year, recent big-name games have kept the console alive, For example, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. However, some players patiently hope for a Switch 2 announcement considering the device’s outdated hardware. Currently, information surrounding an expected release window for the Nintendo Switch 2 remains scarce. However, a new statement from Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa suggested it may not release until after April 2024. Nintendo Switch may not receive a replacement console anytime soon As first reported by Bloomberg, Nintendo Switch’s year-end console sales have declined by 21%. Nintendo hoped to sell 21m of the device in a 12-month period but only sold 17.97m by the end of the fiscal year. “Sustaining the Switch’s sales momentum will be difficult in its seventh year,” Furukawa said. “Our goal of selling 15 million units this fiscal year is a bit of a stretch. But we will do our best to bolster demand going into the holiday season so that we can achieve the goal.” Additionally, Furukawa declared that there are no plans to reveal any new or upgraded Nintendo hardware during the current fiscal year. This means players shouldn’t expect any announcement regarding a Switch successor until at least March 31, 2024, at the earliest. Despite the uncertainty regarding the Switch, an anonymous source updated fans on the console’s status. According to Video Games Chronicle, the development of the Switch 2 “seems to be progressing well.” The industry insider also confirmed a product launch wouldn’t occur “before next spring at the earliest.” To find out how the Nintendo Switch will handle Tears of the Kingdom, stay updated with our coverage of the upcoming title.

Nintendo Switch Online adding two of the best GBA RPGs in January – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch Online adding two of the best GBA RPGs in January Camelot/NintendoNintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will finally add two of the best RPGs ever released on the Game Boy Advance in January. 2024 has had a slow start for Nintendo, with only the ever-present rumors of the Nintendo Switch 2 keeping the fans excited. Hopefully, there will soon be a Nintendo Direct to hype everyone up, or if not that, then at least the upcoming Pokemon Day celebrations in February. Nintendo has a backup plan for these slower months, as the company usually puts new games on Nintendo Switch Online or its Expansion Pack during these periods. Putting some highly-regarded retro games on the service is an easy way to hype up old-school fans. Nintendo Switch Online is kicking off the console’s 2024 by bringing back some of the best games ever released on the Game Boy Advance, though you need to pay for the Expansion Pack tier to be able to play them. Golden Sun I & II are coming to Nintendo Switch Online on January 17 A new video on the Nintendo of America YouTube Channel has announced that Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on January 17. Golden Sun is a series of fantasy RPGs set in the world of Weyward. In Golden Sun, you play as Isaac and his friends, who wield the power of Psyenergy and must use it to stop the forbidden users of Alchemy from utilizing its power for evil. The Golden Sun games combine the turn-based RPG combat of series like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy with the dungeon exploration of The Legend of Zelda series. Both games coming to Nintendo Switch Online have a direct story, with the sequel picking up where the first game ends. It’s also possible to play both games back to back, similar to The Legend of Zelda Oracle titles. Once you complete Golden Sun, you’ll be given a password that can be inputted into its sequel, allowing you to carry over progress directly. The Golden Sun titles are counted among the best RPGs on the Game Boy Advance, and fans have been asking for their addition to Nintendo Switch Online for a while now. While Isaac might never get into Super Smash Bros., the fans can still relive his old games on modern systems.

Upgraded Nintendo Switch Pro console reportedly to be revealed ahead of E3 – Dexerto
Upgraded Nintendo Switch Pro console reportedly to be revealed ahead of E3 NintendoRumors surrounding Nintendo’s latest Switch Pro model have been building for a while now, but it finally looks like fans won’t have to wait that long for an official announcement. The Nintendo Switch Pro hype has reached new heights after a report from Bloomberg announced that the new model will start production as early as July, with the release window set for September or October. This is particularly big news for any Nintendo fans that are looking to play new and existing Switch games on the latest hardware. However, the most exciting detail from this report is that the Switch Pro will be revealed ahead of E3, with an official announcement to be made on June 12. New Switch announcement The article speculates that this is to enable publishers to showcase their games running on the new Switch hardware at the global event. If that wasn’t enough, the report states that the new Switch model will likely be priced higher than the $299 original. The exact price is unknown but it does look like Nintendo fans will want to start saving their gold coins if they wish to get their hands on the new upgrade. Just like the original 3DS, the newer Switch will replace the older model. Read More: Insiders leak more Nintendo E3 plans – In fact, Bloomberg notes that the new Switch “will be sold alongside the $199 Switch Lite, with the standard Switch phased out over time.” Currently, the Nintendo Switch is behind Microsoft and Sony when it comes to visual fidelity and performance, but the new model is expected to narrow this gap. Nintendo’s console will reportedly feature a “7-inch Samsung Display Co. OLED display and faster Nvidia Corp. graphics silicon making it capable of 4K output when docked to a TV,” said Bloomberg News. With the likes of Breath of the Wild 2 and the upcoming release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, many Nintendo fans will be wanting to play these games on the most powerful Switch. While this report may be exciting, it’s still best to wait for an official announcement from Nintendo themselves. For now, though, it certainly looks promising for Switch fans.

Nintendo Switch Lite coming soon: Release date, official trailer, more – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch Lite coming soon: Release date, official trailer, more Nintendo have announced that a brand-new version of their popular Switch console is set to be released later this year, called the Nintendo Switch Lite. Rumors have been swirling for months about the possibility of a smaller, stripped down version of the console, which would retail at a lower price point as the Switch comes towards the latter stages of its life cycle. On July 10, Nintendo finally confirmed those rumors, with the announcement of the Switch Lite, a smaller version of the console that is specifically designed for handheld gameplay. What is the Nintendo Switch Lite? Unlike the original Switch, the Lite version of the console is not designed to be played on a TV, with Nintendo removing the USB-C connectivity from the console entirely, and ditching the detachable joycon controllers in favour of buttons and thumbsticks which are built directly into the Switch Lite’s body. The Switch Lite is slightly smaller than the regular Switch, featuring a 5.5 inch screen rather than the 6.2 that fans of the console will be used to, but still comes with the same 32GB internal memory and Micro-SD slots found on the regular console. Nintendo describe the Switch Lite not as a new console, but rather as a “new addition to the Nintendo Switch family,” aimed at players who only want to use the Switch as a portable device, and not for those who prefer to use it as a home console. Nintendo Switch Lite trailer Nintendo have released a special trailer to mark the announcement of the Nintendo Switch Lite, with General Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi giving fans an in-depth look at the console. What colors does the Nintendo Switch Lite come in? The console will release in three different colors – yellow, grey, and turquoise – and Pokemon fans will also be able to purchase a special Sword and Shield edition of the Switch Lite which will feature legendary Pokemon Zacian and Zamazenta on the rear. When does the Nintendo Switch Lite release? Nintendo have confirmed that the Switch Lite will release worldwide on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Nintendo Switch 2 hints surface from massive NVIDIA leaks – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch 2 hints surface from massive NVIDIA leaks NintendoHints for a Nintendo Switch 2 system or Nintendo Switch Pro console may have surfaced in the aftermath of a massive NVIDIA DLSS source code leak. Nintendo has been tight-lipped about anything related to a supposed Nintendo Switch successor. Though the Switch OLED just came out in 2021, it came with a better resolution for handheld mode rather than a substantial upgrade to the base hardware. But a leak from NVIDIA, published on Techpower, may have given a glimpse of the developer’s future offering, mainly by showing us some programs that could be used to run the console. The information includes C++ files and other items that could hint at software for a Switch sequel system. Nintendo Switch 2 system hints NVIDIA DLSS Source Code Leaked https://t.co/5n2yJ7q9ic pic.twitter.com/X8m0p8s4uN — TechPowerUp (@TechPowerUp) March 1, 2022 The NVIDIA leak is giving way to the possibility of a Switch 2, seeing as there are entries for an ‘NVN2,’ an apparent continuation of the ‘NVN’ API used for Switch games. The list of details is scarce. But some people are connecting the dots and surmising that NVIDIA could be working with Nintendo on DLSS (deep learning super sampling) for 4K, which would need a beefier system than the current Switch to operate. NVIDIA’s DLSS allows for an uptick in framerates using AI learning, giving an image rendered in 1080p to be upscaled at a consistent, sharper 4K resolution. We can see entries for an ‘NVNDLSS’ driver as well as ‘nvn2’ files linked to an API folder tree as well as separate render tests. Since the current hardware isn’t capable of handling DLSS, there’s reason to believe this is for a different, unannounced system. Stirring the Switch 2 pot, even more, is reputable NVIDIA leaker ‘kopite7kimi,’ who previously claimed that a custom T239 chip was rumored to be an integral part of the next Switch system. Kopite7kimi suggests they have seen files in the new leak that directly reference the T239. Nintendo Switch 4K Pro Previous reports suggested that a supposed Nintendo Switch Pro would have 4K capabilities, and the latest leak seems to align with that notion. It’s unclear if this means there will be a Switch Pro with 4K capabilities or if the leak is instead pointing to a much more ambitious Switch 2. Nintendo have yet to confirm their plans for a follow-up console, and definitive details remain to be seen.

Nintendo Switch finally adds highly-requested feature – Dexerto
Nintendo Switch finally adds highly-requested feature NintendoNintendo has finally added Bluetooth audio support to the Switch in the console’s latest update. Here’s everything we know. The Nintendo Switch launched in 2017 and raised several eyebrows when it didn’t support Bluetooth. Those who play primarily in portable mode needed to physically plug headphones in rather than connect wirelessly. While not a huge hassle, it was surprising to many. Wired headphones were becoming increasingly outdated even then. In fact, some fans felt that the Nintendo 3DS should have supported Bluetooth. Even its competitor, Sony’s PlayStation Vita offered wireless audio functionality. This made it even more bizarre when the much newer Switch did not. The latest #NintendoSwitch update is now available, including the ability to pair Bluetooth devices for audio output. For more information, including restrictions on some features while using Bluetooth Audio, please visit the support page: https://t.co/vzAB6lZTDu pic.twitter.com/6J5xcDl5kU — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) September 15, 2021 New Nintendo Switch Bluetooth update details The Nintendo Switch’s latest update finally allows the console to connect to wireless audio devices like headphones or earbuds. Better yet, the system allows two separate devices to be connected; however, only one can be used at a time. But this will enable players to have their earbuds and big comfy headphones paired simultaneously, allowing them to swap devices anytime they wish. There are some caveats though; the Bluetooth functionality is only for audio output. It cannot connect to mics or other devices. It’s simply designed to funnel sound out of a separate speaker. It also doesn’t work when the console is using a local connection. Therefore, those playing with other Switch owners in the vicinity won’t be able to use Bluetooth at the same time. However, when playing online with other players elsewhere, this feature works just fine. It’s strange that it took Nintendo so many years to add what many believe is quite a basic offering, by today’s standards at least. But those waiting for Nintendo to add Bluetooth functionality to the Switch can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Fewer wires are always a good thing.

Kid uses dad’s credit card on Mario Kart, sues over “immoral” microtransactions – Dexerto
Kid uses dad’s credit card on Mario Kart, sues over “immoral” microtransactions NintendoA young gamer has sued Nintendo for its “immoral” microtransactions in Mario Kart Tour after accidentally using their dad’s credit card. Mario Kart Tour launched in 2019 as a Nintendo mobile game for iOS and Android devices. The title features preexisting Mario Kart courses in addition to tracks located in cities across the globe. Examples include New York, Tokyo, Paris, and London. However, Mario Kart Tour also contained gacha “Spotlight Pipes” for various in-game rewards. Users could pull a new kart, driver, or kart part for the price of five Rubies. It costs players around $25 to draw ten items at a time. While Nintendo removed the microtransactions in September 2022, one minor recently filed a lawsuit against the video game giant. The child previously charged their dad’s credit card for $170 in Mario Kart Tour loot boxes. Nintendo sued after accidental Mario Kart Tour charge As first reported by Axios, the potential class action lawsuit seeks refunds for all minors who bought Spotlight Pipes. It also claimed that Nintendo used “dark patterns” to trick players into spending more money on the game’s microtransactions. The suit alleges that the “immoral” practice goes against Washington State’s Consumer Protection Act and California business law. Additionally, Nintendo “capitalized on and encouraged addictive behaviors akin to gambling” for younger and more vulnerable users. “Minors are especially susceptible to these addiction-enhancing elements of game design,” the lawsuit read. “The experience of acquiring surprise rewards and the associated excitement of uncovering unexpected in-game items holds a strong appeal for minors and reinforces their desire to keep playing and keep getting rewards.” If your child has spent money on Mario Kart Tour’s Spotlight Pipes, stay updated with the case to find out if it’s settled. Then, you would need to fill out a claim form online or by mail.

Nintendo boss shuts down new Switch 2 console rumors – Dexerto
Nintendo boss shuts down new Switch 2 console rumors NintendoNintendo’s president has seemingly shut down reports of a new Nintendo Switch console being revealed in the coming months. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furakawa has revealed the company is still focused on meeting Nintendo Switch sales targets, despite rumors of a new console being announced in the coming months. Speaking in a new article from Nikkei (thanks, VGC), the company will focus on producing enough Switch units to ensure inventory is ready for the latter part of 2022. Nintendo commits to Switch production through to 2023 Speaking to Nikkei, Furukawa explained “Normally, we stockpile inventory in the summer to prepare for the year-end sales season, which is at its peak.” “This summer, we are not able to produce as many as usual.” Nintendo managed to sell a total of 3.43 million Switch consoles in Q2 2022. During the same time period in 2021 last year, they sold a whopping 4.45 million units, before unveiling the Switch OLED. In his interview, he further continued that Nintendo is trying its best to ship one million Nintendo Switch consoles by the end of March 2023 to meet sales targets, but also notes that part shortages remain a concern. It’s been more than five years since the launch of the Switch console. By now, a total of 111.08 million units of the device have been sold across the Switch and Switch Lite consoles.

Unfortunately, the event happened, and no announcement of the sort was to be found, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be happening soon. According to various sources on Twitter, there is “very strong evidence” hinting at a Nintendo Direct happening at the end of June. This, if it happens, would be the perfect time to announce a GoldenEye 007 remaster. The information is accurate. The window of airing is either June 28 or June 29 — may depend on time zone/regional location. It was never planned for the coming week. It’s been slated for late June for many, many weeks. This is not the result of a delay. It’s as planned. https://t.co/XPIFkZqQch — Direct-Feed Games (@DirectFeedGames) June 13, 2022 Now, we have to clarify that there’s nothing set in stone just yet — either for a Nintendo Direct or a GoldenEye 007 remaster. However the combination of past leaks on an update for the N64 title, and an all-but-confirmed Direct is too juicy to look past. Previously, it has been reported that GoldenEye 007 challenges have surfaced in the Xbox website’s achievements list – which could be a strong indication that a remaster is on the way. GoldenEye 007 achievements viewable on Xbox’s website https://t.co/46FWj70BjZ pic.twitter.com/GZrlVjTM3J — Wario64 (@Wario64) June 5, 2022 Only time will tell if this all pans out to be true or not, but an actual remaster for GoldenEye 007 could indeed break the internet if it were announced, especially among the 90s kids on Twitter. UPDATE: During the September 13 Nintendo Direct presentation, developers Rare confirmed that the game will be available Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack members. It will also come to Xbox Game Pass with 4K as a “faithfully recreated” experience.

Nintendo rushes to remove obscene Super Mario Bros. Wonder mod with foul-mouthed Flowers – Dexerto
Nintendo rushes to remove obscene Super Mario Bros. Wonder mod with foul-mouthed Flowers NintendoNintendo has been hard at work trying to shut down a new Super Mario Bros. Wonder mod that turns the game’s adorable flower plants into foul-mouthed swearing machines. The latest Nintendo game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is officially out, with fans finally able to get their hands on the newest platformer experience. In Dexerto’s offical review of the game, we wrote that “while Super Mario Bros. Wonder doesn’t revolutionize Nintendo’s beloved series, the charming 2D platformer successfully pays homage to its roots, paving the way forward with unique twists that keep the gameplay feeling fresh.” Prior to its official release, however, some gamers have been playing the new title on PC via emulators. As one can expect from any PC experience, players have already begun creating mods for the game. One such mod that caused Nintendo to take swift action involved the flower creatures from the game being transformed into foul-mouthed enemies. Ones that have no issues with swearing at Mario and company as they traverse their way through the various maps and worlds. As first reported by Eurogamer, modder Contendo posted a now-deleted clip on Twitter, showcasing just how different the Mario experience is when the content becomes less PG. In the clip, the flower plants Mario encounters throughout the game can be heard shouting “f**k up” at Mario when passing by. In light of this, Nintendo was quick to get the video taken down, however, the modder simply stated that he believed “the video is funnier now honestly.” And while Nintendo was quick to shut this mod down, there is no stopping other modders from creating more bizarre twists on the new Mario game. For all the latest Mario news and updates, be sure to check out Dexerto’s full coverage here.

Nintendo says they’re interested in creating NFTs, but there’s a catch – Dexerto
Nintendo says they’re interested in creating NFTs, but there’s a catch NintendoAs Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) become ever more present in the gaming world, Nintendo have revealed that they’re looking into NFTs, but have questioned how exactly they can do it. Despite backlash from some gamers over the slow bleed of NFTs into gaming, brands and organizations in the space continue to find ways to utilize the growing technology into their work. While a Ubisoft exec was berated for claiming gamers “don’t understand” NFTs, after the announcement of Ubisoft Quarts and esports organization 100 Thieves launched their own free NFT, there are still multiple questions over the practice — and there’ll be even more now. During a Q&A session, Nintendo spoke briefly about NFTs, and the anti-NFT crowd might want to stop reading. Following the publication of Nintendo’s latest financial results for the fiscal year, the company hosted a Q&A session and were asked about their position on NFTs and the metaverse. Analyst David Gibson posted a series of tweets, all with Nintendo’s answers to whichever questions they were asked regarding the state of the business. When asked about their thoughts on NFTs and the metaverse, they reportedly said: “We do have interest in this area, we feel the potential in this area, but we wonder what joy we can provide in this area and this is difficult to define right now.” Q) How think about metaverse and NFT? A) We do have interest in this area, we feel the potential in this area, but we wonder what joy we can provide in this area and this is difficult to define right now (hey Facebook etc take note!!) 8/— David Gibson (@gibbogame) February 3, 2022 The idea of using NFTs to “bring joy” to their consumer base is perhaps the most Nintendo response possible, so it will be interesting to see how they choose to tackle the space should they make the move, especially considering the backlash they likely know they’ll receive. It doesn’t seem as though NFTs are in Nintendo’s immediate plans, but don’t be surprised to see them pop up in the months or years to come.

Nintendo rumored to release new version of the Switch – Dexerto
Nintendo rumored to release new version of the Switch PixabayAccording to a report from Japanese news site Nikkei, Nintendo is currently developing a newer version of their massively successful Switch console – with some major tweaks. The Nikkei report holds that this updated Switch will be smaller and cheaper than its progenitor, but will cut a few features in order to justify its price point and size (although the features in question remain a mystery). Additionally, the new console is said to place an emphasis on portability, and is set to release some time in 2019. https://nintendoeverything.com/rumor-nikkei-claims-smaller-switch-is-coming-nintendo-planning-new-service-for-this-year/That’s not all; Nikkei’s report also holds that Nintendo could be working on yet another special service for “game enthusiasts willing to pay more,” which will similarly drop at some point in 2019. This follows the release of Nintendo’s Switch Online service, which allows users to play online, access an exclusive collection of games, and back up their save data to the Cloud for a monthly or yearly price plan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nintendo-Switch-Console-Docked-wJoyConRB.jpgWhile no details have yet been released as to what features the updated Switch will remove, some fans have speculated that the system could do without its console dock and cartridge slot, as Nintendo continues to move forward with its new, online services and DLC content. While the company had a massively successful 2018, they have since cut their projected sales for the upcoming quarter, slashing Switch forecasts from 20 million units to 17 million units – which may have prompted this smaller, more affordable version of the console.

Nintendo responds to report that a 4K Switch is in development – Dexerto
Nintendo responds to report that a 4K Switch is in development NintendoA report claiming some studios have been making games for a 4K Switch has been shot down by Nintendo. Here’s what we know. When Nintendo unveiled the latest version of the Nintendo Switch many people expected it to feature 4K. This would allow it to keep up with its latest rivals, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Instead, the latest version of the Nintendo Switch was the OLED update, one that isn’t capable of 4K while docked or in portable mode. Rumors of a 4K Nintendo console have been flying around the web for years, with Nintendo categorically denying they are working on such a console. This denial, plus the announcement of the OLED Switch dashed many gamer’s hopes of a 4K Nintendo – at least for now. Yet according to Bloomberg, staff from 11 different games developers have all claimed they have been sent Nintendo 4K console dev kits to start work on potential games. A number like 11 separate claims is too many to ignore, especially when they range from small to very large triple-A studios. Some have also said they have been told not to discuss these projects further in public. Nintendo 4K console denied on Twitter Of course, these claims are all we have to go on at this moment. Neither Nintendo nor the employers of these developers have officially confirmed the claims are true. Nintendo has also issued a statement on Twitter to confirm that Bloomberg’s report is not accurate and that they have not supplied any 4K console kits to developers. A news report on Sept. 30, 2021(JST) falsely claims that Nintendo is supplying tools to drive game development for a Nintendo Switch with 4K support. To ensure correct understanding among our investors and customers, we want to clarify that this report is not true. (1/2) — 任天堂株式会社(企業広報・IR) (@NintendoCoLtd) September 30, 2021 Bloomberg defended their report saying the claims are based on 4K kits sent to developers before the OLED Nintendo was revealed as the final product. Essentially, according to their sources, developers were sent Nintendo’s capable of 4K, but the plans evolved into the OLED model. Read More: Nintendo Switch Pro OLED: Release date, features, price & trailer Nintendo has reiterated they have no plans for any further Nintendo Switch models other than the OLED version. This releases on October 8, 2021. However, this is unlikely to be the last games console Nintendo ever produce. Naturally, 4K would be a desirable addition to any future consoles that release after the OLED Switch. Therefore, a 4K Nintendo console in the future shouldn’t be entirely ruled out – just don’t expect to see it any time soon.

Nintendo respond to Switch Mini rumors – Dexerto
Nintendo respond to Switch Mini rumors Nintendo have finally responded to rumors that they’re working on the development of a Nintendo Switch mini console, according to reports. The Japanese video game developer held their AGM, an annual meeting for shareholders, on June 27, where they reportedly addressed rumors of a brand new console being under development. Nintendo allegedly spoke directly about the speculation, but the answer might not have been as concrete as many fans might have wanted. In fact, it was very generic – if a translation from Japanese Nintendo is to be believed. “We acknowledge that there have been reports [about this],” the apparent statement says. “Answering to rumours and speculations would end up stealing surprises from our customers and also be unprofitable to all of our shareholders, so we have no answer to that. As a general theory, we are always performing development of new hardware.” Until now, Nintendo had kept quiet on the subject of a new Nintendo Switch. While this is by no means confirmation of a new Nintendo Switch being in development, some fans might see the response as promising. The statements have came from an unconfirmed source, though, which does cast some doubt over the validity of the response. What could turn out to be the biggest giveaway in Nintendo’s terminology, based on the translation, is “end up stealing surprises,” suggesting there is something on the way. Nintendo are a giant company and after years of making gaming hardware they will know the best way to maximize profits. If the quotes are accurate, it goes some way in showing that the developer believes releasing the information on their terms is the best way to do this. There were rumors that that new Nintendo hardware would be revealed at E3 2019, but these never came to fruition. It had been stated that their presentation would be software only and, true to their word, this was the case. We’ll have to wait and see what’s next for the Nintendo Switch, whether it be a smaller and simplified version, or an upgrade on the hardware. We have reached out to Nintendo to confirm whether or not the quotes are accurate and await a response.

Nintendo respond with their own plans as Sony & Xbox ramp up acquisitions – Dexerto
Nintendo respond with their own plans as Sony & Xbox ramp up acquisitions NintendoNintendo has confirmed they won’t be joining Sony and Microsoft’s rush to acquire more third-party studios. As Sony and Microsoft engage in an arms race of third-party acquisitions, Nintendo has revealed they won’t be joining the fray. Instead, the Japanese gaming giant will continue with their own separate strategy throughout 2022 and beyond, regardless of how intense the buyout drama gets between their two biggest competitors. As originally reported by Bloomberg, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has confirmed that the company won’t be making any large third-party acquisitions in the way that Sony and Microsoft have in the past twelve months. Nintendo President on future acquisitions Furukawa confirmed this statement during an investor call where he said: “Our brand was built upon products crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don’t possess Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company.” The Nintendo President didn’t rule out the purchase of smaller studios, such as the developers behind Luigi’s Mansion 3, Next Level Games. However, he was keen to stress that Nintendo will not be reacting to Microsoft and Sony’s recent moves with any of their own, instead the company will remain focused on their existing assets. “I really have a hard time imagining which of the big ones they could even be interested in buying. Nintendo will always stay Nintendo. The company has always relied on first-party games, and I don’t see any reason why they should change.” What major Microsoft and Sony acquisitions? The news comes after Microsoft shocked the gaming world in 2021 with the revelation that they had acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. This meant that games like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and the upcoming Starfield could all potentially become Xbox exclusives going forward. Earlier in 2022, Microsoft then purchased Call of Duty publisher Activision, along with World of Warcraft developers Blizzard, who form part of the Activision family. In January 2022, Sony responded by purchasing Bungie, creators of the Destiny franchise and the original developers of the Halo series. Why is Nintendo avoiding large acquisitions? Nintendo’s confirmation that they have no interest in major third-party acquisitions is surprising. Each publisher that gets bought by their rivals potentially shuts them out when it comes to releasing their games on the Nintendo Switch or its successors. However, Nintendo has a history of doing their own thing when their competitors battle for dominance in a given arena. The Nintendo Wii was an example of Nintendo pursuing innovation instead of barrelling down the road of HD gaming. Or with a renewed focus on online play like Sony and Microsoft did with the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Nintendo Switch also went against the grain, offering a portable console hybrid instead of venturing down the path of 4K gaming like Sony and Microsoft. The Switch may also not be a suitable console for such grand acquisitions, meaning such an investment could be seen as unwise on Nintendo’s part – at least for now.

Nintendo reports 52% profit increase due to Mario and Zelda – Dexerto
Nintendo reports 52% profit increase due to Mario and Zelda IlluminationLatest reports have shown that Mario and Zelda have helped Nintendo soar in 2023, increasing their revenue by 50% and profits by 52% from the previous year. Immense growth for Nintendo was certainly unexpected, with President Shuntaro Furukawa previously stating that their Switch console was predicted to decrease in sales as the six-year-old console continued to get older. Concerns regarding this can be put to bed as the company states that the Nintendo Switch has sold 3.91 million consoles in the June quarter and is 13.9% up on 2022. The Japanese gaming pioneer has a lot to celebrate after reporting revenue for the June 2023 Quarter of 461.34 billion yen ($3.2 billion) which is 50% higher than in 2022, not to mention the 52% profits increase. Sales were naturally expected to decrease for Nintendo as well as its competitors Microsoft and Sony, as they focus on looking ahead to future consoles. The genius of Nintendo’s 2023 strategy comes from building off of its iconic game franchise Zelda and its high-risk jump into the film industry with a globally released Super Mario Bros. movie. How have Mario and Zelda increased Nintendo’s profits? Nintendo has received a catastrophic boost from the record-breaking Super Mario Bros. Movie and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom both released in 2023. Super Mario movie shines Mario is the main and unexpected success. Producing a Super Mario Bros blockbuster comes at a large price tag and Nintendo doesn’t exactly have a long history in filmmaking compared to games. The high-risk film reportedly cost $100 million to make, dramatically paying off for the company as it shocked the box office by becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2023 so far and achieving over $1.3 billion dollars in revenue. As well as this, the movie gained high critical acclaim and tripled the licensing royalties for Nintendo. The movie’s roaring success has blasted open a whole Nintendo Cinematic Universe to delve into which has brought a new string to the Japanese gaming giant’s bow. Tears of the Kingdom is a resounding success The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has further supported the strong figures after the game was released on Nintendo Switch in May 2023. The latest installment sold over 10 million copies in just the first three days, powering on to become the ninth best-selling title in Switch’s history with a total of over 18.5 million copies sold. Both Zelda and Mario look to continue to be vital parts into Nintendo’s strategy as they look forward to their future consoles and suspected future movie releases.

Nintendo reportedly strike down YouTubers using music from Mario & Zelda – Dexerto
Nintendo reportedly strike down YouTubers using music from Mario & Zelda NintendoNintendo blocking YouTube videos over copyright claims is nothing new, but their latest wave, which targeted clips with music from Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart Wii, has gotten lots of attention due to the ongoing outrage. Nintendo has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. It started when they forced a highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament to be canceled due to a third-party tool. The spotlight has been on them ever since. They’ve been criticized over everything from allegedly blocking videos of Super Smash Bros mods on YouTube to stopping Joycon designs sold for charity. Now, they’ve come under fire yet again for taking down YouTube videos with music from Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, and Mario Kart Wii. It’s nothing new. Nintendo has been doing it for years, and they’re well within their rights to. However, it’s led to more scrutiny over their practices and left fans wondering why there still isn’t a better and more official way to listen to music from their favorite Nintendo games. GilvaSunner is a YouTuber known for uploading soundtracks from video games, mostly Nintendo. Understandably, he’s had many videos taken down over the years due to copyright claims. In 2019, he posted a tweet that said, “Game over.” It includes a screenshot with emails from YouTube telling him that some videos had been blocked due to copyright claims. However, he didn’t specifically mention it was Nintendo. https://twitter.com/GilvaSunner/status/1161315671839522816?s=20 Now, more than a year later, he followed up on his initial tweet with an update. More videos have been taken down over copyright claims. He specifically mentioned it was Nintendo JP, although it cannot be seen in the screenshots. “The soundtracks for Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart Wii have been blocked in its entirety on YouTube by Nintendo JP,” he said. “I’ll keep you posted if more claims come in.” https://twitter.com/GilvaSunner/status/1336246347423494144?s=20 Nintendo fans have had mixed reactions. Some believe the company isn’t doing anything wrong, and it’s fundamental intellectual property law. Others argue that it’s more evidence of corporate greed. Either way, the consensus is that this whole predicament has a simple solution. Nintendo needs to make the music from their game soundtracks more readily available and in a legal way. “Please put your soundtracks on Spotify and/or other music streaming services,” said GilvaSunner. “Others have already seen the light, when will you?” It’s a sentiment that others share. https://twitter.com/GilvaSunner/status/1161578292312453123?s=20 In the end, Nintendo taking down YouTube videos over copyright claims is standard practice. There isn’t anything wrong with it from a legal standpoint, either. But it has heaped more scrutiny on the company in an already fickle climate. However, despite the militant tribalism on either side, a solution has been proposed, and it’s a viable one. Only time will tell whether Nintendo will take it on board.

Nintendo reportedly developing new Star Fox for Switch 2 and it’s planned for this year – Dexerto
Nintendo reportedly developing new Star Fox for Switch 2 and it’s planned for this year NintendoA new Star Fox game is reportedly in development for the next Nintendo console, and it could come out as early as this year. The Star Fox franchise is one of Nintendo’s most beloved, but the series has had a few troublesome entries in recent years that missed the mark for fans. In 2016, Nintendo finally returned to its on-rails shoot-em-up with Star Fox Zero, a remake of the original that couldn’t match the success of Star Fox 64 in large part due to its cumbersome and downright horrid Wii U control scheme. Now, years removed from the disappointment of Star Fox Zero, a new report claims that Nintendo is gearing up for a new Star Fox game that will launch on Switch 2 hardware. New Star Fox game reportedly coming to Switch 2 In a blog post by leaker Zippo, it’s reported that for the first time since Star Fox 64 that a new entry in the series is supposedly in development internally at Nintendo. That’s not all, though. Online multiplayer is also apparently going to be a big part of this new title and will allegedly be released on Nintendo’s next console. “There is a chance that it’s a cross-generation release,” Zippo explained, adding that the game is slated to come out within the next 12 months. Backing up these claims, the leaker shared screenshots of Star Fox trademark filings from December along with an entirely brand new trademark – meaning it wasn’t an old one being renewed. Star Fox sequel raises timeline questions Zippo states that this game is a sequel to an existing Star Fox title and is not another reboot of the series, but it’s unclear what game it will be a sequel to. The Star Fox series timeline is anything but consistent. The franchise began on the SNES and was slated to have a sequel, Star Fox 2, which ended up being canceled – only to eventually be released for the first time ever on the SNES classic and eventually Nintendo Switch online. Star Fox 64 was a remake of the SNES version and included some elements of the canceled SF2. This was followed by a couple of GameCube games. First came Star Fox Adventures, which introduced the character of Krystal, and subsequently Assault. The final game in the Star Fox 64 timeline, Star Fox Command, was released on the Nintendo DS in 2006 to mixed reviews. From there, the series was rebooted with Star Fox Zero. Could this new game be a continuation of that game or will the series return to somewhere in the Star Fox 64 universe? Of course, take all of this with a pinch of salt until we get confirmation from Nintendo, but hopefully it won’t be long until we’re back to doing barrel rolls and saving the Lylat system.

Nintendo reportedly changing stance on ‘adult’ Switch eShop titles – Dexerto
Nintendo reportedly changing stance on ‘adult’ Switch eShop titles NintendoNintendo may be changing its stance on ‘adult’ content in Switch eShop titles after one publisher’s game was rejected by the company. Censorship in the video game industry is nothing new, as major publishers must be keenly aware of any problematic content that could damage their brands in any way. While Nintendo has had a long history of censorship in the West, its stance on ‘adult’ content in games has loosened a bit — especially during the Switch generation. However, it seems Nintendo may be cracking down on ‘adult’ content in Switch eShop titles, according to one publisher whose games were rejected by the game company. Developer’s ‘adult’ eShop title rejected by Nintendo The claim came from publisher Gamuzumi on Twitter, who’s published a number of “amazing mature (LEWD) titles” on the service. The publisher tweeted out that it had received word directly from Nintendo that “they do not allow uncensored b**bs on their console now.” The thread goes on to explain further why Gamuzumi’s most recent title, Hot Tentacles Shoot, was rejected. “Basically, obscene content could damage the brand and infringe its policies. This means that now all games with nudity should be censored…” Additionally, the publisher confirmed another one of their titles featuring adult content was rejected for having nudity. Provided this case is not only relegated to Gamuzumi, the plethora of digital ‘adult’ titles on the Switch eShop could be subject to Nintendo’s new policy change as well. Censorship in games was a hot-button issue earlier in the year, as Sony came under fire from fans after censoring Martha is Dead on PS5. While many think there is a space for controversial video games on any platform, publishers will always keep their own best interests in mind when publishing games on their platforms. For now, Switch fans will just have to wait and see what other rippling effects Nintendo’s updated policies have on the Switch eShop.

Nintendo reportedly abandons Smash 4 amid controversial tournament rulings – Dexerto
Nintendo reportedly abandons Smash 4 amid controversial tournament rulings NintendoNintendo has reportedly left out Smash 4 from its most recent tournament guidelines after deeming not enough players would be interested. Nintendo once again caused waves in the Super Smash. Bros. competitive scene after releasing restrictive new tournament guidelines in late October 2023. Essentially, this new ruleset limits the size of events to just 200 people, 300 entrants for online tournaments, caps registration fees, and much more. In a similar vein, Nintendo recently unveiled a new Liscensed Tournament Application form for Tournament runners, albeit with the exclusion of Smash 4. Now, a longtime member of the Melee community may have shed light on the strange omission. Nintendo leaves Smash 4 out of official license application Super Smash Bros. Melee player, commentator, analyst, and occasional tournament organizer Tafokints claimed to have spoken to a Nintendo rep about Smash 4’s abscense from the official Licensed Tournament application form. According to the Smasher, “In response to Smash 4 not being on the licensing agreement list, the Nintendo rep responded that they did not believe that Smash 4 would ever reach 200 entrants or reach a prize pool of over $1000 USD.” Should fans take a look at the form, even games like Smash Bros. Brawl and Smash 64 are included in the list, despite them being less popular in the modern competitive Smash space compared to Ultimate and Melee. Many members of the community expressed confusion through social media, where some even pointed out Nintendo was underestimating the game. “Yup. That’ll never happen. Especially not in the year 2023,” said one Reddit user who linked a Super Smash Con bracket showing Smash 4’s 1v1 Singles pool garnered 344 entrants in August 2023. Others joked that the game’s exclusion could be used to in some humorous situations. “Smash 4 resurgence time,” joked one fan, while another said, “Major TOs have the opportunity to do the funniest thing.” In all likelihood, the “Other” category listed on the form would still include Smash 4 in the application process. Still, it’s interesting that this oversight seemingly slipped through the cracks.

Nintendo President shuts down “inaccurate” Switch 2 rumors – Dexerto
Nintendo President shuts down “inaccurate” Switch 2 rumors NintendoNintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has publicly stated that the Nintendo Switch 2 rumors are “inaccurate” as part of the company’s financial earnings report. There have been many rumors about the successor to the Nintendo Switch, as the console has been on the market since 2017 and is nearing the end of its lifespan. The Switch managed to avoid a mid-cycle hardware upgrade (as the OLED Switch only has a nicer screen), so a successor should be on the cards. Nintendo has been coy about making statements regarding a new Switch, especially as the current system still has games coming out for it. There have been hints that a Nintendo Account will be key to the next system, but there’s also been no official announcement that it actually exists. Most recently, there have been reports of a patent made by Nintendo for a dual-screen device, which fans suspect could be the design for the Switch 2, as it would allow DS and 3DS games to be released on the system, something that isn’t possible on the Switch. Nintendo President has denied Switch 2 Gamescom and dual-screen rumors There have been a lot of leaks regarding the specifications of the Switch 2, and these have now been put to rest by Nintendo during the company’s latest financial earnings report. A machine-translated report by Mainichi features a statement by Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa on the matter. Furukawa states, “Rumors are circulating mainly on the Internet as if they were public information, but they are inaccurate.” He also addressed the rumors regarding the Switch 2 being shown at Gamescom, which he claims are “untrue.” When discussing the dual-screen patent, Furukawa states, “I applied with the understanding that (the patent information) would be made public. It does not mean that it will be installed in a product.” Usually, if rumors like this are true, then executives won’t comment on them or will dodge the question. In this case, these are outright denials by the President of Nintendo, so fans should notice them. There are many rumors about the Switch 2 coming from different sources, so there’s reason to believe that it’s coming, especially as the Switch’s upcoming first-party schedule is bare. Hopefully, players won’t have to wait long until Nintendo is ready to reveal its next console, and the speculation can end.

Nintendo refuses to reveal developer of Mario & Luigi Brothership – Dexerto
Nintendo refuses to reveal developer of Mario & Luigi Brothership NintendoNintendo has chosen not to reveal the developer of Mario & Luigi: Brothership ahead of its release date. The June 2024 Nintendo Direct announced several upcoming titles that Switch owners can’t wait to get their hands on, like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Amidst the hype of Zelda serving as a protagonist, Nintendo unveiled trailers for a couple of Mario titles coming out in the near future. So far, it has been an amazing past year for Mario fans following the release of the remake of Super Mario RPG, Princess Peach: Showtime, and more. Mario & Luigi: Brothership will mark the return of the sibling duo after many thought the series had ended. Poor sales numbers from 2009’s Bowser’s Inside Story, the most recent Mario & Luigi game, had fans of the series worried for the future. Almost 15 years later, Nintendo has finally decided to revive the series. While the Direct revealed a short snippet of what prospective players can expect from Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Nintendo has chosen not to reveal the developer ahead of its release date. This isn’t the first time Nintendo has partaken in this business practice. Previously, the video game company didn’t disclose Mario’s new voice in Super Mario Bros. Wonder or the developer behind the Super Mario RPG remake. As reported by Game File, some of the developers who worked on the original Mario & Luigi games are “involved in the development of Brothership,” and specific information will be revealed in the game’s credits. However, Alphadream, the developer behind the OG titles, filed for bankruptcy in 2019. Former manager Hiroyuki Kubota joined Monolith Soft, and ILCA recruited some former Alphadream employees, leading fans to suspect Monolith Soft could be behind Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Or perhaps it could be a different internal Nintendo studio. We’ll keep you updated on when Nintendo officially reveals who will be behind Mario and Luigi’s latest RPG adventure.

Nintendo’s new Museum plans are a dream for Mario & Donkey Kong fans – Dexerto
Nintendo’s new Museum plans are a dream for Mario & Donkey Kong fans NintendoNintendo has unveiled plans for a museum in Japan that will feature memorabilia from its long history of iconic video game franchises like Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced the news in a press release on June 2, revealing that its Uji Ogura Plant and the land surrounding the building will become home to an official museum tentatively known as the ‘Nintendo Gallery’. Fans will be able to view many of the products that the company has launched throughout its decades-long history, with Furukawa describing it as “a way to share Nintendo’s product development history and philosophy with the public”. Alongside historical products being put on display, there will also be Nintendo-themed exhibits and experiences for visitors to enjoy and get involved with. The Uji Ogura Plant, located in Uji-city in Kyoto, was built in 1969 and has been used to manufacture both playing cards and Hanafuda cards. It has also operated as a customer service center for product repairs. Nintendo Gallery will open by March 2024 As any gamer knows, Nintendo has a long and fascinating history to share, so we have a feeling this will be a must-visit for fans of franchises like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Donkey Kong. If you’re already planning your trip to the museum, though, you might want to hold off for a while. The project is expected to be completed in the company’s 2023 Fiscal Year, which means the museum might not open until March 2024. With the Super Nintendo World theme park recently opening at Universal Studios Japan, it seems the iconic gaming company is slowly expanding its reach beyond just games and giving fans new ways to interact with their favorite characters. While you wait for more information on the museum, now is the perfect time to get caught up on all the information you need to know ahead of Nintendo’s E3 2021 presentation.

Nintendo moves to close down Switch eShop in Russia – Dexerto
Nintendo moves to close down Switch eShop in Russia NintendoIt seems Nintendo has effectively shut down the Nintendo Switch eShop in Russia, according to an email sent out to publishers. In early 2022, major video game companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Activision Blizzard made the decision to suspend all business in Russia due to global sanctions amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Not long after, the Russian government essentially legalized video game piracy to combat these sanctions after more and more companies halted business throughout the country. Now, Nintendo has sent an email out to various game publishers to notify them that the company is essentially shutting down the Nintendo Switch eShop due to the current “economic outlook.” Nintendo shuts down Switch eShop in Russia The news comes from an email sent out by Nintendo of Europe, which publication Game Developer obtained. The email explained that Nintendo would be halting eShop sales in Russia indefinitely after May 31, 2023. “As a result of the economic outlook, Nintendo of Europe has decided to wind down operations of its Russian subsidiary.” In 2022, Nintendo took steps to scale back business in Russia alongside Sony and Microsoft, as the company placed the Switch eShop in an indefinite state of maintenance. Now, that maintenance period has apparently ended, and according to the email: “As of May 31, 2023, and for the foreseeable future, Russian customers with an existing Nintendo Account will be able to redownload digital content that they have previously purchased. It will not be possible to make any new purchases or use download codes within [the] Nintendo eShop in Russia.” Additionally, Nintendo confirmed that payment information Russian players have connected to their account will be deleted altogether to protect user security.

Nintendo leaks release for Terry, Byleth & Banjo Smash Ultimate amiibo – Dexerto
Nintendo leaks release for Terry, Byleth & Banjo Smash Ultimate amiibo NintendoNintendo tweeted and then promptly deleted the release dates for all the new amiibo announced by Smash Ultimate creator Masahiro Sakurai during his Minecraft Steve fighter presentation. While the Smash creator revealed the Terry Bogard, Byleth and Banjo amiibos would be coming out in 2021, the Nintendo of America Twitter account was more specific. In a now-deleted tweet, Nintendo claimed the three amiibo would be releasing in Fall 2021, which would be one full-year away. “New Smash Smash Bros series amiibo will be arriving 2021,” the tweet said. “Get collecting with the Banjo & Kazooie amiibo figure, be the teacher’s pet with the Byleth amiibo figure, and serve up a burn knuckle sandwich with the Terry amiibo!” The tweet wasn’t up for very long, however, and it’s unclear exactly why Nintendo decided to delete it. One possibility is that the amiibo are actually not releasing in Fall 2021 and the tweet was made in error. Another theory is that not all of the three will be coming out at the same time with one or two releasing earlier. It’s important to note that Smash Ultimate amiibo releases are normally accompanied either shortly before or after a DLC fighter is revealed. For every single DLC revealed with the exception of Min Min, amiibo have released alongside the new fighter. So, if these release dates are accurate, it does mess with amiibo theory a tad bit. Additionally, the final and eleventh characters in Fighters Pass Volume 2 is still scheduled for a December, 2021 release so this may beg the question: will the DLC be delayed? In any case, hopefully the next batch of Smash DLC isn’t getting pushed back, but for anyone hoping to get their hands on a Steve or Min Min amiibo, it seems you may be having to wait over a year.

Nintendo Live 2024 canceled due to threats made against employees & attendees – Dexerto
Nintendo Live 2024 canceled due to threats made against employees & attendees NintendoNintendo has canceled Nintendo Live 2024 in Tokyo due to persistent threats against both staff members and attendees at the event. The Nintendo Live events are massive in-person shows, allowing fans to try out the latest games released on Nintendo’s current platform. While they don’t usually feature new reveals, players can at least try out upcoming titles. The Nintendo Live shows are also the stage where many of Nintendo’s sponsored tournaments take place, including games like Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. All these events are broadcast worldwide, allowing fans to watch the best players in the world compete. Nintendo has been extremely strict about competitions for its games, most notably Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but the Nintendo Live shows were usually exempt from this. Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo had to be canceled due to threats of violence However, the next Nintendo Live 2024 event, meant to be held in Tokyo in January, has officially been canceled. The Genki_JPN Twitter/X account has posted a translated footnotes version of Nintendo’s official statement on the matter, outlining the reasoning for the cancelation and what events were canned. According to Nintendo, the event was canceled due to threats against company employees and attendees. As such, Nintendo couldn’t hold the event while ensuring the safety of all in attendance, so it had to be shut down. In addition, the planned Splatoon 3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournaments intended to be held during Nintendo Live 2024 have also been postponed. There is currently no word when these events will take place or if they’ll happen together when they’re eventually held. It’s unclear what the nature of these threats against Nintendo Live 2024 was, but it has to be serious if Nintendo is canceling a huge event only a month before it was due. The Nintendo Live events happen internationally, so there will likely be more in North America and Europe in the future. Hopefully, whatever security concerns Nintendo worries about will be resolved, and the event can return to Japan in the future.

“Nintendo Kart” trends as Mario Kart 9 details spark rebrand rumors – Dexerto
“Nintendo Kart” trends as Mario Kart 9 details spark rebrand rumors NintendoDays after new details on Mario Kart 9, “Nintendo Kart” started to trend on Twitter after speculation grew of where the racing game could go for the sequel. People gave their take on the “new twist” that Nintendo could be planning for MK9 after Kantan Games’ Dr. Serkan Toto, a Gamesindustry analyst, said that the title was in “active development.” Twitter largely gravitated to an idea that would bring more characters and tracks from other Nintendo franchises into the racing game, similar to Smash Bros’ monstrous roster of fighters. Discourse grew on the possibility, and some even dubbed an extreme version of a mashup “Nintendo Kart.” Conversations eventually snowballed into detailed discussions on the pros and cons, which started to trend on Twitter. Is ‘Nintendo Kart’ Mario Kart 9’s new twist? Nintendo are expected to give Mario Kart 9 a new dimension of gameplay like they did with MK8 and the rest of its previous titles. But Twitter sounded off on the possibility of opening up the franchise to other Nintendo worlds, considering the success of Smash Bros and the rise of upcoming ‘metaverse’-esque titles. “Seems that a popular idea for Mario Kart 9 is to turn it into Nintendo Kart where various franchises are included instead of mainly focusing on Mario,” one person said. “Can we please not, Mario Kart is currently the best chance we have of seeing any of the more obscure Mario Characters again.” 1. Fan favourites would be removed In order to make space for all these other Nintendo characters, many popular Mario characters people loved playing as would not make the cut pic.twitter.com/1l9e9WESRH — Mr. Duby (@misterduby) January 9, 2022 Reasons were given for why Nintendo should and shouldn’t turn the beloved racer into a “Super Cart Bros,” as some people quipped about. While we can expect the game company to find a creative draw for its timeless title to incorporate some next-gen trend, it’s still unclear where the devs will go. The Gamesindustry analyst believes a Mario Kart 9 teaser could be shown in 2022 which could shed more light on the game’s direction.

Nintendo issues widespread Steam Workshop takedown to remove all Garry’s Mod content – Dexerto
Nintendo issues widespread Steam Workshop takedown to remove all Garry’s Mod content Steam Workshop / ValveNintendo is seeking to remove any and all fan-made content based on its IP from Steam’s community-driven Workshop. A series of all-encompassing takedowns have been issued, resulting in games like Garry’s Mod being forced to erase any relevant creations. In a sandbox like Garry’s Mod, just about anything is possible. With community-created assets, players can design their own gaming experiences, animate videos, and plenty more in between. Over its near two-decade lifecycle, we’ve seen all manner of whacky and often innovative projects catch fire. Moving forward, however, these projects will have to catch fire without the help of any Nintendo IP. Where in the past, gamers could jump into maps rocking a Mario skin, or create their own custom Zelda video series, for instance, Nintendo is now cracking down to ensure that’s no longer possible. Garry’s Mod devs revealed they’d been hit with numerous takedown notices from Nintendo directly, and as a result, have swiftly been acting to remove countless community creations based around the Japanese company’s IP. “We’re working on removing all Nintendo-related stuff from Steam Workshop,” an April 24 announcement read. While Garry’s Mod is no doubt the most impacted by this motion, it also means no other titles on Steam will be able to rely on Nintendo-based community creations in the Workshop. “Honestly, this is fair enough,” the blog post admitted. “This is Nintendo’s content and what they allow and don’t allow is up to them. They don’t want you playing with that stuff in Garry’s Mod – that’s their decision, we have to respect that and take down as much as we can.” Obviously, removing every single piece of community-created Nintendo content is easier said than done. With “20 years of uploads to go through,” it’s a tall order, and a task that will no doubt take quite some time to complete. As a result, devs are even urging players to consider their own creations. “Deleting your Nintendo-related uploads and never uploading them again, that would help us a lot.” The news came as a surprise to some in the community, as ‘Nintendo’ has a history of similar behavior. At least, that’s how it’s appeared in recent weeks. Early in 2024, one pesky user by the now-infamous name of ‘Aaron Peters,’ posed as an employee of Nintendo of America. This individual fired out DMCA claims en masse, targeting Nintendo-related content on Steam’s Workshop, primarily impacting Garry’s Mod. At the time, the community rallied together behind a number of popular YouTubers to discover the truth behind the matter and expose the falsified claims. As a result of this recent debacle, some were hesitant to trust the legitimacy of the new takedown notices. Hence, devs feeling the need to clarify in their April 24 announcement. “This is not a mistake, the takedowns came from Nintendo.”

Nintendo insider drops info on rumored January Direct & new Switch model – Dexerto
Nintendo insider drops info on rumored January Direct & new Switch model PixabayWith rumors of a January Nintendo Direct and even a new advanced Switch model announcement swirling around gaming communities, a French insider is claiming to reveal some new information. For some time now, eagle-eyed Nintendo fans have been spotting updates happening to the Direct archive website and YouTube playlists, further fueling anticipation for a big announcement. While nothing is set in stone quite yet, French leaker Nintend’Alerts took to Twitter to reveal some news they claim to have heard. As always, take this rumor with a grain of salt, but do keep in mind that the user had previously leaked information about the Switch Lite in 2019. Responding to a post from fellow insider Kelios about the Japanese Nintendo Direct playlist being updated, Nintend’Alerts wrote that there might be information coming very soon. Plusieurs sources sûres, on aura des infos très bientôt. Peut-être même du hardware 🙂 — Alert&Go (@AlertEtGo) January 9, 2021 When pressed about if there would be details regarding software in addition to hardware, the insider responded that while he expects just hardware info, it seems logical that news about games will follow. That said, the announcement itself, if real, could just be focusing on the new Switch console, or whatever hardware it is. “Personally, I haven’t heard of a Direct, just a possible hardware announcement very, very soon,” Nintend’Alerts added. As for when the news will drop, they claimed that it will come in the “near future” on Monday or Tuesday, though it’s unclear if the leaker meant January 11 or 12 or in the following weeks. Personnellement j’ai pas entendu parler de direct, juste d’une probable annonce hardware très très bientôt, un produit qui semblerait être limité. A suivre donc — Alert&Go (@AlertEtGo) January 9, 2021 Furthermore, they added that the product may be “limited.” In that case, it’s anyone’s guess what hardware the insider was talking about, though they may have added one final clue. “It might be time to release a Zelda console whether it’s a new model or a classic one,” Nintend’Alerts said, potentially alluding to a potential release date for Breath of the Wild 2 being announced. Il serait peut-être temps de sortir une console Zelda que ce soit un nouveau modèle ou du classique. — Alert&Go (@AlertEtGo) January 9, 2021 Speculation about a potential new Nintendo Switch reached a boiling point last week when a dataminer was able to find some details hidden within the console’s firmware. The advanced Switch, codenamed “Aula,” is believed to have 4K capabilities and “substantially” better battery life. We’ll have to wait and see exactly what Nintendo has in store for us, but signs are pointing to a reveal of some sort happening soon.

Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser to spend the next two years in prison – Dexerto
Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser to spend the next two years in prison After almost a year and a half in court, infamous Nintendo Switch hacker Gary Bowser is slated to spend the next two years in federal prison. In August 2020, the United States of America filed a case against a hacking group known as Team Xecuter. The team consisted of Max Louran, Yuanning Chen, and Gary Bowser. So far, Gary Bowser is the only member of the team who has been apprehended. The case claimed the team had been involved in manufacturing and selling hacked gaming hardware that allowed users to access and play pirated versions of copyrighted games. A warrant was also issued for the arrest of Gary Bowser. On October 2, 2020, Bowser was arrested in the Dominican Republic and was extradited to the U.S. He remained in federal custody for the duration of the case, a total of 16 months. Gary Bowser sentenced to 40 months in prison In November of 2021, Bowser plead guilty to conspiring to circumvent technology measures and trafficking said circumvention devices. At the beginning of February 2022, The United States of America suggested Bowser spend 5 years in prison, while Bowser’s lawyers suggested 16 months. On February 10, 2022, the US District Court sentenced Bowser to 40 months served in federal prison. Since Bowser has already served 16 months over the duration of the case, he will only spend the next 24 months in prison. This is why Bowser’s legal team requested a sentence of 19 months. He would have only had to spend an additional three months in prison. This is because, in the United States, the time spent in custody during a court case is credited towards the overall sentence. However, Bowser still owes the United States $4.5 million in restitution. This is on top of the $10 million he owes to Nintendo of America following a recent lawsuit. That being said, all fines for the case have been waived as the court deems Bowser “unable” to pay them. Both Max Louran and Yuanning Chen remain at large as the U.S.A. still seeks to prosecute them. Bowser’s public defender states that they reside in countries that “may not extradite them for prosecution.” They also claim that, while Team Xecuter made “tens of millions of dollars”, Bowser made a total of $320,000 over seven years. “Mr. Bowser is left to take the full brunt of the government’s argument that the Court must ‘end a message’.” While the case continues for Louran and Chen, Bowser’s inside story has come to a close. He will spend the next 24 months in prison and must find a way to pay $14.5 million dollars in restitution.

Nintendo freezes Switch Sports online service after repeated crashes – Dexerto
Nintendo freezes Switch Sports online service after repeated crashes NintendoNintendo has temporarily disabled online services for Switch Sports after the most recent update caused repeated crashes before matches. Earlier this year, Nintendo followed up its best-selling video game, Wii Sports, with a spiritual successor for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch Sports allowed players to challenge friends locally and online to six different games at launch, with golf coming later as a free DLC update. Unfortunately, Nintendo has decided to temporarily disable Switch Sports’ online services following a recent update that caused repeated crashes during pre-match loading. Nintendo temporarily disables Switch Sports online services The issues began when Nintendo rolled out the version 1.2.1 update on October 12, 2022, for Switch Sports which was originally meant to combat online cheaters. The patch notes said the update was meant to “strengthen measures against disruptive behaviors” and noted that players who violated Nintendo’s Community Guidelines would be suspended from online play. However, the update instead caused repeated crashes for players trying to load into games. Initially, Nintendo took steps to resolve the issues by temporarily freezing online matches and cloud saving, before halting the 1.2.1 update rollout altogether, according to Nintendo Japan’s customer service Twitter account. Whilst we investigate to find a solution, #NintendoSwitchSports servers will be temporarily taken offline and online play will not be available during this time. Save data backup is also temporarily suspended. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. — Nintendo UK (@NintendoUK) October 14, 2022 A few hours later, Nintendo UK’s Twitter account confirmed the situation: “Whilst we investigate to find a solution, NintendoSwitchSports servers will be temporarily taken offline and online play will not be available during this time. Save data backup is also temporarily suspended. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.” Unfortunately, it’s still unclear when Nintendo will release the next update that’s meant to restore Switch Sports’ online service and fix the repeated crashing issue. Though it likely won’t be very long, interested fans should keep an eye on Nintendo UK’s official Twitter account for any future updates regarding Switch Sports.

Nintendo fans slam decision to close 3DS and Wii U eShops – Dexerto
Nintendo fans slam decision to close 3DS and Wii U eShops NintendoAfter many years of support, Nintendo is shutting down the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U eShops in March 2023, meaning fans won’t be able to buy any more digital copies of games for these systems. Understandably, this has drawn the ire of those who still enjoy the consoles. The Nintendo Switch is pretty much considered the de facto brand for Nintendo as the hybrid console has been an overwhelming success for the company. Whereas most didn’t quite understand the Wii U and how it worked, the Switch simplified things and made itself instantly marketable. It seems that Nintendo have decided to go full-board with the Switch and are removing the ability to buy Wii U and 3DS games from their respective eShops. The news hasn’t gone down well for fans of these consoles with many people desperately trying to remonstrate with Nintendo to reverse this decision. As of late March 2023, it will no longer be possible to make Nintendo eShop purchases for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. More info: https://t.co/uGoxCcDZ70 — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) February 16, 2022 3DS and Wii U life support is about to be pulled An official statement from Nintendo has said the following: “As of late March 2023, it will no longer be possible to make purchases in Nintendo eShop for the Wii U system and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. It will also no longer be possible to download free content, including game demos.” The proclamation is quick to assure consumers that they can still “redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems,” after March 2023. Predictably, Nintendo’s announcement hasn’t quite gone down a treat, and it’s left many 3DS and WiiU owners disappointed, with one strong Reddit thread coming down extremely hard on Nintendo. Nintendo 3DS and WiiU stores removal is “anti-consumer” “This bears repeating: Nintendo killing virtual console for a trickle-feed subscription service is anti-consumer and the worse move they’ve ever pulled” were the impassioned words used by user raylinth. The OP dissected the decision and underlined the severity of what Nintendo are trying to do. “Nintendo has done nothing to convince me that digital content on Switch will [still be] maintained in 5-10 years. And that’s a major problem,” they said. They also make mention of a now-deleted Q&A segment that informed owners of these consoles: “We currently have no plans to offer classic content in other ways.” Some players were frustrated with one person sarcastically saying: “Nintendo? Anti-consumer? The company that has been the bane of streamers and fan projects? The company that purposefully limits digital releases to create artificial scarcity? The company that will not fix its massively prolific controller problem and resisted even admitting to it? That Nintendo? No, I don’t believe you.” Whereas a furious fan outright said: “F**k Nintendo so hard. Why do people support this? If Microsoft or Sony tried this they’d be absolutely destroyed for it by the press and the gamers.” There were plenty more unhappy replies with players concerned that this is a way for Nintendo to move these archived games to the Switch eShop, and obviously increase Switch sales. With Breath of the Wild 2 on the horizon, Pokemon Arceus booming, and new Mario Kart content on the way, the console is already thriving. Read More: Nintendo Switch Sports details – This very scenario happened with Sony and PlayStation in 2021, with the Japanese behemoth informing players that PS3 and PS Vita content wouldn’t be sold digitally anymore. However, due to criticism and negative feedback on the call, Sony reversed its stance and opted to keep the store operational. Whether or not Nintendo decides to hold its position remains to be seen.

Nintendo fans think Super Mario Odyssey 2 is coming after email teaser – Dexerto
Nintendo fans think Super Mario Odyssey 2 is coming after email teaser NintendoMario fans are freaking out after a recent press email from Nintendo surrounding Super Mario Odyssey seems to drop some cryptic hints. Super Mario Odyssey was undoubtedly one of the standout games in 2017, with many praising the tight platforming gameplay and the game’s fresh spin on the traditional Mario series. With the announcement of Breath of the Wild 2, many fans were also curious as to whether or not Nintendo would announce a direct sequel to its other smash hit in 2017. Unfortunately, no news of Odyssey 2 came to fruition. However, some fans have started to think there’s hope for a Mario Odyssey sequel following a recent press email Nintendo has started to send out at the start of 2023. Fans think Nintendo may be hinting at Super Mario Odyssey 2 As shown in a tweet from Nintendo news aggregate Nintendo Prime (who credited Twitter users sonicchriz and StarryMirage), Nintendo has started sending out press emails surrounding Super Mario Oddysey. This struck some fans as odd for a number of different reasons—including the fact that the game has been dormant for quite some time. However, the line that has many fans excited is as follows: “But there may be even more out there still to be discovered… Perhaps it’s worth hopping aboard The Odyssey once more and taking the trip all over again.” I’m not getting my hopes, but…is it time for another 3D Mario adventure? — ExpandDong (@ExpandDong15) January 17, 2023 The part about there “may be even more out there still to be discovered…” has some fans thinking that more Mario Odyssey is on the way. “I’m not getting my hopes [up], but…is it time for another 3D Mario adventure,” asked one Mario fan. Nintendo Prime also made the point that it seemed strange that Nintendo is promoting Mario Odyssey again considering it was released five years ago. “Why are they promoting Odyssey again? They have so many other Mario properties to push that are newer. Hmm…” Of course, this could very well just be a strange round of promotion for the game. Some fans pointed out that with the Super Mario Bros. Movie slated for April 7, 2023, Nintendo could just be advertising the most recent mainline Mario title to those who may not have played it. This could easily just be promotion for the Mario movie or Nintendo acting like their 5 year old game is new because they are Nintendo. — Supreme Kai (@SupremeKaiZ) January 17, 2023 There are certainly arguments to be made for and against this email as a hint for an upcoming Mario Odyssey sequel, though no official announcements have been made. For now, Nintendo fans will just have to wait and see if Mario pops up in any upcoming Nintendo Direct presentations in 2023.

Nintendo fans reveal surprising demand for Switch successor – Dexerto
Nintendo fans reveal surprising demand for Switch successor NintendoThe Nintendo Switch has enjoyed incredible success since it launched and players have now cast their votes to indicate how big they want the successor to be. Do they want it to be bigger, smaller, or is the Nintendo Switch just right? After the less-than-stellar sales performance of the Nintendo WiiU, the well-renowned video game company bounced back in spectacular fashion with the Nintendo Switch. The hybrid device plays brilliantly in handheld form or docked and millions of players have been drawn in by this. It continues to sell like hotcakes and the addition of the OLED Switch has only helped matters. But, there will come a point where the Nintendo Switch will inevitably run its course. As with all its predecessors, the N64, Gamecube, Wii, etc, the Switch will eventually be replaced and superseded by the latest and greatest model. Fans recently took part in a poll to explain how big they’d like it to be and the results were surprising. Next Nintendo console size? On the popular gaming forum ResetEra, a ballot was conducted to try and ascertain what fans would like the next Nintendo console to be like in terms of its size and accessibility. When all was said and done, 609 votes had been cast between the three different options. These were the choices that players had: Be smaller and more portable at the sacrifice of screen size and ergonomics. – Be larger and less portable but having the benefit of possibly better ergonomics and larger screen. – Please just keep it like it is, I’m not re-buying another set of Joy Cons if I can help it. – The winner with 311 votes (51.1% of the voting) was “Be larger and less portable but having the benefit of possibly better ergonomics and larger screen.” Voters categorically did not want it to be smaller and 36.5% were happy to keep it the way it is now, but presumably a bit more powerful. Interestingly, one user actually suggested using the WiiU for guidance: “Larger and more ergonomic, more similar to the Wii U gamepad, the current Switch is so small and heavy my hands literally hurt and get cramps from holding it a few minutes in my palms, not to mention reaching the Right Stick and D-Pad is literally painful for me, I went from using my Wii U without the TV a ton to never using the Switch portably because of it.” There doesn’t seem to be any proper talk from Nintendo yet about the Switch sequel, and if anything, we still have a potential Switch Pro to come out first.

Nintendo fans are trying to revive one of the 3DS’s greatest features – Dexerto
Nintendo fans are trying to revive one of the 3DS’s greatest features StreetpassLoveNintendo’s 3DS is soon to face the end of support with the shutdown of its servers, but one group of fans hopes to keep one of its most endearing features going. The Nintendo 3DS broke new ground with its innovative 3D functions when it was released, and still remains a beloved console to many. During the high of its popularity users could take the handheld to events like concerts or conventions and get hundreds or even thousands of hits on one of its most beloved features – StreetPass. StreetPass functioned by using Near Field Communication (NFC) to locate other 3DS consoles nearby and handshake with them, allowing the owners of both consoles to benefit. Depending on the game, this could result in extra items, or unlock unique features. Even many of the built-in 3DS games such as StreetPass Quest relied on regular StreetPass hits to reach their full potential. With the declining popularity of the 3DS, it is getting hard to get those hits. StreetPass global events An online group of dedicated Nintendo 3DS fans known online as StreetPassLove has expressed their intent to keep the 3DS alive by using community events. They have plans for a presentation of their ‘Street Pass Live’ event at PAX East, where they will attempt a speedrun of a StreetPass game using Mii characters taken from audience members. Most significantly though, are plans for a global StreetPass community event. April 12-14 has been designated as ‘StreetPass Weekend 2024’ on StreetPassLove’s Twitter/X account. All 3DS owners are encouraged to take their consoles to public spaces such as airports, parks, shopping malls, and game stores. Certain events are also being highlighted as good places to take the 3DS that weekend, such as the Pokemon VGC Regionals, London Games Festival, and Supanova 2024. Though the servers for the 3DS will be going offline on April 8, 2024, the spirit of the 3DS might carry on longer with help from the fan community.

Nintendo fans rejoice after discovering hidden amiibo changes – Dexerto
Nintendo fans rejoice after discovering hidden amiibo changes NintendoNintendo fans were excited to discover that the new Super Smash Bros Ultimate amiibo for Min Min doesn’t need to be removed from its casing to be scanned to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s flagship toys-to-life figures, amiibos, exploded in popularity upon their original release back in 2014. The figures have built-in NFC chips and have become beloved for their collectability and well as their ability to connect to supported games providing everything from extra loot to holding onto save data. Amiibos launch coincided with the release of Super Smash Bros Wii U, and since then, the company has released amiibos for nearly every character in the franchise. Now, eight years later, fans believe Nintendo has made a major change to amiibos in favor of hardcore collectors. Min Min amiibo scannable through box Reddit user TrevNick shared their discovery that the new Min Min amiibo, released on April 29, is scannable through the original box. The discovery was shocking, as Nintendo has always included a blocker within amiibo casing, making gamers decide between preserving the amiibos value in the box or ripping it open and playing with it. Nick titled the video, “Is Nintendo just throwing NiB collectors a bone or showing they care less about amiibo?” One user in the comment section wasn’t convinced the change was a nod to amiibo collectors. They said, “Maybe the cost of those little metal blockers was no longer worth it, and would have began cutting into the amiibo’s profits.” The Nintendo-centric website NintendoLife tested out the new Min Min amiibo, and were also able to scan it through the box. Whether the change was intentional or not, this is certainly great for Nintendo fans who like to keep their amiibos in the original packaging.

Nintendo fans already disappointed with upcoming Direct showcase – Dexerto
Nintendo fans already disappointed with upcoming Direct showcase Monolith Soft, NintendoA new Nintendo Direct presentation has players up in arms as the showcase will focus only on Xenoblade Chronicles 3, rather than a wide range of upcoming games. Nintendo Direct presentations are a celebrated time among players. Each showcase typically gives us a glimpse into Nintendo’s dazzling roster of titles, but players are now lambasting the coveted company. A new presentation is scheduled for June 22 but will only feature Xenoblade Chronicles 3, leaving many players frustrated about the lack of variety. Nintendo face backlash over Xenoblade Chronicles 3 direct presentation The legendary company announced on social media that the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 direct would feature “roughly 20 minutes of information about the upcoming RPG adventure for Nintendo Switch.” While players of the long-running RPG franchise are keen to explore the future of the game, many were hoping to see highly anticipated titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild 2. Breath of The Wild 2 has been in development since 2017 and was delayed to the first half of 2023. I (half) fucking called it LMAO https://t.co/mlR747ZU5O — Rudra | XENOBLADE 3 (@Rudra_LC_) June 20, 2022 Some players predicted that Nintendo would avoid showing the game and have sparked debate with other players. On June 19 @Rudra_LC_ said: “no offence but we’re probably more likely to get a Xenoblade 3 Direct than a Zelda one atm.” Players such as @awesomelink234 were eager to see an array of games: “What about people like me who aren’t big fans of Xenoblade? Are we going to be starved of information until September?” Another commenter shared their perspective, adding: “Before I get slack I am excited for Xenoblade 3… but with the rest of the year still slightly vague on release dates I can’t help but find this disappointing.” Nintendo have remained typically secretive regarding titles such as The Breath of The Wild 2, so it’ll likely be a while before new footage emerges.

Nintendo fan refusing to close 3DS & Wii U eShop suffers console casualty – Dexerto
Nintendo fan refusing to close 3DS & Wii U eShop suffers console casualty NintendoOne dedicated Nintendo fan has managed to stay on the 3DS and Wii U eShop screen several days after the service’s utter demise. On March 27, Nintendo permanently shut down the 3DS and Wii U eShops, meaning players could no longer purchase digital content on those consoles. This especially sent Pokemon trainers into a frenzy to download Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter before the applications disappeared. Despite the eShop’s closure, one user kept the service’s page open following its termination. However, a poor connection signal resulted in their Wii U’s eShop closing. Thunderstorm caused Nintendo fan’s Wii U to lose connection Reddit user Gold_Poptart boasted his achievement on the 3DS subreddit, showing they were able to stay on the eShop for the 3DS and Wii U after they officially shut down. However, a recent thunderstorm caused the Wii U to lose connection, and the eShop disappeared by the time the console reconnected. In the comment section, gamers debated whether this counted as a success. “You aren’t still connected, though,” X_Parasite wrote. “Anything you do requires their server, so you are pretty much looking at the same unrefreshed screen from two days ago. This is quite literally a ‘take a picture. It will last longer’ scenario, lol.” Others expressed concern about whether the user’s 3DS may suffer from screen burn. “Nah, I just need to push scroll left or right and change the screens around,” Gold_Poptart said. “As long as I don’t select anything, we’re good.” omgzphil discussed how people are trying to sell consoles like this at a high price. “The API is dead, so it won’t work,” the user wrote. “And when the person buys it, and the Wi-fi connection breaks, the same thing happens.” Amid the shutdown, Nintendo extended the redeemable download code period for 3DS and Wii U games. The announcement came after the eShops closed prematurely. While the vast library of games on the 3DS and Wii U is no longer available, Nintendo fans can still hope for some titles to receive Switch ports.

Nintendo face backlash for stopping Joycon designs in support of Etika – Dexerto
Nintendo face backlash for stopping Joycon designs in support of Etika u/kurus37Nintendo is facing backlash over their decision to issue a cease and desist order targeting custom Joycon shells in which some of the proceeds go to charity. However, some fans think changing the name might be a solution. Generally, people make custom Joycon shells for profit. It’s a lucrative business that is understandably at odds with Nintendo’s interests. However, Etikons were different. They were made in honor of a streamer named Etika, who took his own life. Some of the proceeds went to the JED Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting mental health in teens and young adults and preventing suicide. It’s an important cause, and the Joycon shells look great. But unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be. Nintendo targeted them with a cease and desist order back in September. The news caught wind on social media, and it’s left fans feeling more angry and disappointed than they already were. CptnAlex, the man who made the Etikons, released an official statement to confirm the rumours. “All this information is accurate,” he said. “The cease and desist I received from Nintendo [includes] all of my products, including the Etikons.” “The only claim Nintendo can make over this design is the word Joycon,” he added. “While they didn’t specifically tell me why each design was taken down, they did include a list of copyrights [that] my designs broke, and the word Joycon was on that list.” “It’s super shitty,” he said. “I still have about 30-40 sets of shells that I’ll likely be giving away at a convention or something.” He also shared an image of the official letter he received from Nintendo. First campaign was not successful. Second campaign was successful. Remaining stock of Joycons were for sale my Etsy since last year. Nintendo sent me a cease and desist at the end of September. Here’s a picture of me with a bin of all the shells I can’t sell anymore pic.twitter.com/ytdWzObh9x — CptnAlex (@Cptn_Alex) December 7, 2020 It’s an unfortunate situation that has added to the ongoing discussion about Nintendo’s practices. Some fans are understandably saddened and frustrated, while others don’t think it’s that big of a deal, and there’s an easy fix. “Imagine what Nintendo of America’s PR department is thinking right now,” wrote one user. “Surely losing their minds… this was for charity, and it’s in honor of a dead man who was a fan of their games.” However, some believe Nintendo isn’t doing any wrong, and the whole situation has been blown out of proportion. “The actual issue is pretty benign and involves actual IP infringement,” said one user. “Just remove the legal trademarks. What am I missing here?” said another. Either way, it’s a hot topic that’s gotten fans riled up on both sides. It’s a testament to how passionate the Nintendo community is, even if they find themselves at odds with other fans and the company responsible for the games they love.

Nintendo fan goes viral with wild GameCube controller mod – Dexerto
Nintendo fan goes viral with wild GameCube controller mod PowerAGameCube controllers getting modded is nothing out of the ordinary. With valuable reasons as to why doing so, Nintendo fans love to do it. But one, in particular, got wild with it and it went viral. The average video game player has at least experienced one controller in their life, be it an Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch controller, every gamer has their own preference. Some like the idea of simplistic controllers that receive small alterations ala Xbox, while others could enjoy the symmetry in both the control sticks and buttons such as the PlayStation. But there are also the ones that enjoy the ever-evolving controllers that Nintendo makes. Nintendo’s controllers have brought many fan-favorites such as the Wii and Wii U’s that came with a Wiimote and a Nunchuk, allowing for a different style of play. The most recent system, the Switch iterated on that and made it a more seamless transition between normal and handheld play. But there’s one controller that since its console’s release, has been many Nintendo and non-Nintendo fans’ go-to: the GameCube. Nintendo fan attaches an amp to a GameCube controller Known for its clickity clackity sound when pressing its button, the GameCube controller is one of the most recognizable ways to play a console. On top of that, its size and the position of buttons can be oddly satisfying for some. That’s why known controller modder, ShankMods, decided to turn it up a notch, literally, by giving the controller even more power in its sound after he plugged it into an amp. Stating, “The GameCube controller is great and all, but it just isn’t loud enough. So I fixed that.” https://twitter.com/ShankMods/status/1479709766859563009 Showcasing his mod on a video, ShankMods first pressed down the GameCube controller’s buttons, sticks, and d-pad to show the normal sound of the controller. Already loud, he decided to add more to that after he plugged in an amp cord into the controller, conveying an even stronger sound. GameCube controllers receiving mods is nothing out of the ordinary, with mods to improve gameplay on games like Super Smash Bros, Nintendo fans know no bounds. But sometimes these bounds are surpassed, even if it means making the controller even louder.

Nintendo extends 3DS & WiiU download period following eShop closure – Dexerto
Nintendo extends 3DS & WiiU download period following eShop closure NintendoNintendo has announced an extended grace period for players to download WiiU and 3DS games following the eShop’s closure on those consoles. For those who haven’t heard, Nintendo announced that the 3DS and WiiU eShops would permanently close down on March 27, 2023, meaning players would no longer be able to purchase new digital games on those consoles. Ahead of the closer, fans scrambled to make sure they could download games before the deadline, with one YouTuber even downloading the entire catalog of each system before the end date. Now, Nintendo has announced a final grace period to redeem download codes for 3DS and WiiU games following an error that shut down the service early. Nintendo extends download period for 3DS and WiiU The announcement came from Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account, which roughly translated to: “…After 00:00 on March 28 (Tue), it was not possible to redeem the download number earlier than the scheduled time, so we have extended the redemption until 13:30 on April 4 (Tue). Please redeem it again from the Nintendo 3DS/Wii U eShop. We apologize for the inconvenience. To clarify, this does not mean the lifespan of the service has been extended for a certain period of time. As of March 27, 2023, the eShop on both consoles is permanently discontinued. However, those players who had redeemable codes to download digital games will now have until Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 12:30 AM EST / 5:30 BST or April 3 at 9:30 PM PST to redeem any digital codes. It’s also worth noting that this extension period does not include the ability to redeem prepaid eShop cards to add additional funds to player’s accounts, as this function has not been available for some time. While players can still redownload any digital games on both WiiU and 3DS for the foreseeable future, it will no longer be possible to purchase new digital games through the storefront.

Nintendo Direct speculation mounts amid leaked Zelda trademarks for 35th anniversary – Dexerto
Nintendo Direct speculation mounts amid leaked Zelda trademarks for 35th anniversary NintendoIt has been well over a year since the last Nintendo Direct, but fans may not have much longer to wait if new information regarding The Legend of Zelda ends up panning out. The Legend of Zelda series will be celebrating its 35th anniversary on February 21 to mark the release of the original Zelda game on the NES in 1986. Now, it seems likely that Nintendo has something special planned. Similar to how the company marked Mario’s 35th anniversary, there have been some theories and rumors that Nintendo could be releasing a special Zelda collection, too. Known insider ‘KeliosFR’ noticed how trademarks for both Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass were filed in Australia, suggesting that the two games could be part of some bigger package. Je sais pas pourquoi, mais je sens que ça va être comme Mario 35th, avec 3 jeux Zelda dans une collection + BOTW2 en fin d’année, à voir — Kelios (@KeliosFR) February 10, 2021 “I don’t know why, but I feel like it’s going to be like Mario 35th, with 3 Zelda games in a collection + BOTW2 at the end of the year,” he suggested on Twitter. Additionally, IGN’s Adam Bankhurst predicted that February 18 could see the return of a Nintendo Direct alongside the announcement of a Zelda collection for Switch in March with BOTW 2, and a Switch Pro at the end of the year. A Switch Pro has long been rumored, and just like how the original Zelda Breath of the Wild launched alongside the first Switch model, BOTW2 could very well be used to help sell the next version. February 12: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury February 18: Nintendo Direct celebrating Zelda’s 35th anniversary, which is the 21st.Zelda Collection for Switch in March, BOTW 2 for Holiday 2021 alongside Switch Pro. pic.twitter.com/gYU5gmjSMt — Adam Bankhurst (@AdamBankhurst) February 7, 2021 As for what else we could see at a potential Nintendo Direct in February or March, there is always the chance we get a look at the next Metroid Prime – or even Bayonetta 3. Plus, there is a very strong chance that the next Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC fighter is released in March, so announcing them at a Nintendo Direct could be a smart move. Especially if the next fighter happens to be Crash Bandicoot, who will finally see Crash 4: It’s About Time come to Switch on March 12. As always, take all this news as just speculation, but the chances of a new Nintendo Direct happening seem to be increasing. We’ll have to see what the future holds.

Nintendo discontinues Twitter/X integration on Switch – Dexerto
Nintendo discontinues Twitter/X integration on Switch NintendoThe Nintendo Switch is removing a key feature, as the ability to utilize Twitter/X for screenshots and friend requests is being taken away. The Switch was Nintendo’s first system with a dedicated screenshot function. While the 3DS/Wii U Miiverse had a feature for sharing drawings, it wasn’t quite the same as being able to show off images to your friends online. These screenshots can be uploaded to a personal Facebook or Twitter/X account. While many lament the loss of Miiverse, there’s no denying that the other social media platforms have a much bigger reach, making them more valuable to Nintendo for promoting its titles. Nintendo is following Sony’s example and is removing Twitter/X integration with the Switch. According to the Nintendo of America Twitter/X account, starting June 10, you won’t be able to share screenshots or send friend requests using Twitter/X with your Switch. This is a blow to the service, with users lamenting the removal in the comments, as posting screenshots directly to Twitter/X was a great way to show off impressive feats to your friends. There’s still a workaround for this loss. You can upload screenshots directly from your Switch to a PC or mobile device, which can then be added to Twitter/X separately. However, this adds a few extra steps, which might deter players from bothering. It’s unclear if the upcoming Switch successor will also have screenshot sharing, but if it does, then it likely won’t have Twitter/X sharing functionality, at least not for a while. Fortunately, people can still share Nintendo Switch clips to Facebook, at least for the near future, so fans at least have a venue for showing off their videos. Hopefully, the Switch 2 will introduce more avenues for sharing, leaving Elon’s hell hole behind.

Nintendo Direct shows Switch is going out in its Prime – Dexerto
Nintendo Direct shows Switch is going out in its Prime NintendoAfter a decade of Nintendo Direct presentations, the June 2024 event had a unique obstacle, namely showing the existing Nintendo Switch system still holds some life, despite Nintendo acknowledging the imminent release of a successor. Well, Nintendo has convinced me at least. Rumors were bouncing around the internet that this particular Direct would be nothing but remakes, remasters, and filler to tide fans over: it’s actually the new games that show nobody can develop like Nintendo. Nearing eight years of Nintendo Switch, there are still huge surprises in store. Let’s get the big stuff out of the way. the final announcement — Nintendo’s ‘One More Thing’ showstopper — was the gameplay reveal of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Stunning visuals and a return to the Prime gameplay are enough to get fans excited, and this sci-fi shooter seems to be set to squeeze every last drop of processing power out of the existing Switch specs. Next up, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is the first new top-down (or 2D) entry since the 3DS title A Link Between Worlds. It shares a large resemblance to the Switch remaster of Link’s Awakening, so it might be safe to assume that Nintendo stalwart Grezzo is the developer behind this new entry. While a smaller-scale Zelda title might not set the world on fire, this title hides one big change from previous games, as Princess Zelda herself is the protagonist. Zelda can use magical powers to make ‘echoes’ of items and enemies, then use these spells to solve puzzles around the world. The visual style remains gorgeous, and this new ability could offer up some truly exciting gameplay opportunities. Other big announcements included a return to the Mario & Luigi franchise, with a new entry Brothership. Who can say which studio is developing it, as AlphaDream went bankrupt after the last entry in the series, but it looks promising and is the third Mario RPG to be announced for Switch in the last year. Then, some other highlights include the full reveal of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D, and the surprise confirmation of Dragon Quest I-II HD-2D, bringing Erdrick’s first two adventures to modern platforms in 2025. Much like Octopath Traveller II these look stunning and could be a fitting tribute to the work of the late artist Akira Toriyama. While not quite as exciting, some other surprises included Super Mario Party Jamboree, a new entry in the franchise that seems like a sequel to the motion-focused Super Mario Party. I’d rather have a sequel to the much better Mario Party Superstars, but it looks full of new content and some fresh minigame ideas. Finally, many games make glorious returns, as ports or remasters have been confirmed for Donkey Kong Country Returns, the previous Apple Arcade exclusive Fantasian, and a fantastic surprise in the form of a Marvel x Capcom Fighting Collection including the return of the masterpiece Marvel vs Capcom 2. There are many more games to talk about, with plenty of RPGs filling in the gaps, and some fun updates to titles such as Nintendo Switch Sports and Disney Illusion Island, but still, it’s a testament to Nintendo that the Switch still has so many huge surprises up its sleeve. Going into this Direct, sentiment online could have convinced many that the aging Nintendo Switch was stifling the system, and that Nintendo themselves couldn’t have many surprises left as all the biggest games must be heading for the Nintendo Switch’s successor. Videogame lovers should never underestimate Nintendo. While it’s undeniable that this Direct was missing any AAA announcements, such as a new 3D Mario, a Maro Kart, or even a new Zelda title, the company has so much more to pull from. While console titans like Playstation and Xbox have to rely on third-party developers to plug massive content gaps in their calendars, Nintendo has shown once again that slow and steady wins the race. The company moves to the beat of its own drum and always seems to know it’s better to hold onto a game and release it at the right time than rush to get games over the line to appease quarterly earnings results. If this is the last year of the Nintendo Switch, then the plucky hybrid console could be capping off a truly legendary string of titles with a few final showstoppers. While more powerful hardware might hold to key to bigger and prettier games, the heart of Nintendo is the decisions that allow an aging system to still wow fans when others are struggling in their prime.

How to watch Nintendo Direct September 2022, time, date, where to stream – Dexerto
How to watch Nintendo Direct September 2022, time, date, where to stream NintendoThe Nintendo Direct in September 2022 is happening, here’s everything you need to know to tune in or steam the latest show. For the last six years, Nintendo has hosted a Direct stream in the month of September. The global pandemic forced the publisher to course correct in 2020, yet audiences still received a Mini-Direct that year. And many will recall that the September Direct in 2021 featured quite a few heavy hitters. Kirby and the Forgotten Land entered the spotlight for the first time during this showcase, for example. Nintendo has now announced that a brand new Nintendo Direct presentation will be happening in September 2022, here are all the details. Contents When is the September 2022 Nintendo Direct? The Nintendo Direct for September 2022 will be broadcast on Tuesday, September 13, at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK / Midnight AEST. The show will last around 40 minutes and will be “mostly focused on Nintendo Switch games launching this winter.” How to watch September 2022’s September Direct The presentation will be streamed on Nintendo’s YouTube channel. You can also watch it below: What to expect Though multiple industry insiders correctly claimed that a Nintendo Direct is happening in September, the full contents remain a mystery. However, GiantBomb reporter Jeff Grubb seems adamant that this direct will heavily feature The Legend of Zelda series. According to both GamesBeat editor Mike Minotti and Grubb, the two are “very, very sure” that the September Nintendo Direct will reveal Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD ports for the Nintendo Switch. Grubb goes on to say that “100 percent there’s a Nintendo Direct in September…” and that he thinks it will be “a Zelda blowout for Nintendo.” Of course, all of this information is still unverified so fans should take it with a grain of salt. Still, seeing Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD come to the Switch, especially after Skyward Sword HD, would make a lot of sense.

Nintendo Direct leaker reveals info on Metroid Prime, Zelda, Smash & more – Dexerto
Nintendo Direct leaker reveals info on Metroid Prime, Zelda, Smash & more NintendoA leaker may have revealed some new information about what gamers can expect to see in the February 17 Nintendo Direct. Nintendo is finally having a Direct stream for the first time since 2019, and fans are incredibly eager to see what the Japanese gaming juggernaut has in store for players who have anxiously been awaiting this moment. Thus far, all Nintendo themselves have revealed is that the presentation will be roughly fifty minutes long and will cover games currently available, such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate and other titles coming to Switch in the first half of 2021. However, a leaker may have some inside info on what fans will be seeing during the February 17 presentation. Insider ‘markomaro’ took to Twitter to state that, while Metroid Prime Collection will release in the next fiscal year, a 2D Metroid is coming late this Spring. “The title will be a throwback to the past, Aeion Abilities coming back (some of them brand new), the Fusion suit will be back,” they explained. Next, Fire Emblem news is expected along with new info on Platinum Games, Zelda, Mario sports and even a “new IP,” though they didn’t expand on what that new IP could be. Fire Emblem news should be there tomorrow alongside some Platinum games, Zelda, Mario Sports and a “”new”” IP. The Direct will cover mostly games till early summer, but some games for late 2021 will be there. — markomaro (@Newmarkomaro) February 16, 2021 It is rumored that a Zelda collection will be announced for the franchise’s anniversary, so it’s possible that fans could be seeing a bundle revealed at the Direct. Plus, Bayonetta 3 is still quite the possibility, so getting more details on that game would be great. The leaker continued to state that, “Physical Re-editions for old games with DLC included was in the table for time ago, don’t know if Ninty will start doing it now or in the near future with games like BOTW, Smash, Splatoon and FE.” Capcom Will have a heavy presence in the Direct. Don’t ask me About who is the smash character.— markomaro (@Newmarkomaro) February 16, 2021 This is extremely interesting, as it seems to imply that some sort of deluxe edition of Smash Ultimate is in the cards featuring all of the DLC fighters and stages. Finally, markomaro wrote that Capcom will have a “heavy presence” at the Direct, but not to ask him who the Smash character will be. It’s been heavily suggested that a new fighter will be revealed. Markomaro’s decision to include the Smash and Capcom news so close together has some fans thinking the next fighter is actually from Capcom. Of course, take all this with a grain of salt, but at least we don’t have long to wait to see how much of this info ends up being correct.

When is Nintendo Direct? June show date reportedly leaked – Dexerto
When is Nintendo Direct? June show date reportedly leaked NintendoThe Summer Nintendo Direct has become one of the biggest gaming events of the year to look forward to as it features a longer-than-normal length, and Alanah Pearce seems to have revealed the date of Nintendo’s next presentation. The June to July period is always the most exciting period of time for gamers as there are tons of new game reveals and existing games usually get some gameplay shown off. With no E3 this year, Summer Game Fest 2022 has taken the lead as the de facto gaming celebration. From the actual Summer Game Fest 2022 presentation, to the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, to even the Capcom Showcase, so much has been revealed. The one missing aspect though is definitely the absence of a Nintendo Direct, but former game journalist Alanah Pearce has outed a potential date for the anticipated showcase. Nintendo Direct set for June 2022? The reason the Summer Nintendo Direct is the most sought after is that it’s the longest of the year, typically has big game reveals, and feature looks at some of Nintendo’s biggest upcoming, AAA titles. With games such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Bayonetta 3 in the pipeline and franchises like Metroid constantly being rumored, this Nintendo Direct is a big deal. Alanah Pearce has become one of gaming’s most respected and well-liked personalities and has been at Santa Monica Studio for the last two years. On a recent stream, she divulged info regarding the reported new Nintendo Direct’s date: “29th, yeah, June 29th, Nintendo Direct. It’s not technically a leak because Nintendo didn’t tell me, which is how I make that call, but also I’m not leaking anything that’s in it.” Pearce is an accomplished video game journalist and it would only be natural that she would have various sources from within the games industry. So whilst this should be taken as a leak for now, until we hear from Nintendo’s mouth, there’s every chance that this date is accurate.

How to watch February 8 Nintendo Direct: Start time, stream & what to expect – Dexerto
How to watch February 8 Nintendo Direct: Start time, stream & what to expect NintendoA Nintendo Direct presentation has been announced for February 8, so here are all the details you need including how to watch along and when it starts. It’s become a tradition for Nintendo Directs to take place in February each year and it turns out 2023 is no different, as Nintendo has just announced a 40-minute presentation scheduled for February 8. The stream will focus on “Nintendo Switch games launching in the first half of 2023” which means it’s pretty likely we’ll see more from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom among other games. What time does the February Nintendo Direct start? The next Nintendo Direct presentation will be broadcast on February 8, 2023, at 2PM PT / 5PM ET / 10PM GMT and will last for 40 minutes. How to watch the February Nintendo Direct stream You can watch February’s Nintendo Direct via Nintendo’s official YouTube page or by clicking play on the embed below once the presentation begins. What can we expect from the February Nintendo Direct? February’s Nintendo Direct will be 40 minutes long and will “mostly” focus on Nintendo Switch games released in the first half of 2023. Nothing has been confirmed in terms of the games that will be showcased, but we can speculate! It seems pretty safe to assume that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will receive some attention during this presentation, especially as it’s the next major Nintendo game and there are only a few months until it’s released on May 12. We’re also expecting to see footage from Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (due out February 24) and Bayonetta Origins (due out March 17). Other games that could make an appearance include Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. As with any Nintendo Direct, though, it’s best not to get your hopes up for anything in particular and just enjoy whatever the presentation has to offer.

Nintendo confirms Switch successor with full reveal coming soon – Dexerto
Nintendo confirms Switch successor with full reveal coming soon NintendoNintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch’s successor will be announced sometime this financial year, but not in the next Nintendo Direct. Revealed nearly nine years ago, and now in its seventh year, the Nintendo Switch has become one of the company’s second-most-successful consoles, with fans eagerly anticipating a successor. After years of rumors, Nintendo has finally confirmed that the Switch’s successor is in the works, with its reveal happening sometime within the current financial year. Announced by Nintendo’s president Shuntaro Furukawa on the company’s X (formerly Twitter) account, he wrote, “We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year.” He explains that the reveal will not be coming in the next Nintendo Direct happening in June, commenting, “We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.” Nintendo’s current financial year will end in March 2025, so fans will get a look at the Switch’s successor before then. The original Nintendo Switch reveal trailer was released in October of 2016, before the eventual release of the Nintendo Switch on March 3, 2017, alongside The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Nintendo’s financial position is quite different from 2016, however, and with the Nintendo Switch now approaching 140m units sold, Nintendo likely still wants a year of strong software sales, especially in the upcoming Holiday season. With games like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on the horizon, Nintendo clearly has plenty of plans for Nintendo Switch in its final years. Meanwhile, some reports have revealed that Nintendo showcased a prototype of the Nintendo Switch successor recently, alongside an upscaled demo of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s currently unclear when a full reveal of the Nintendo Switch successor might occur, with the console rumored to feature modern technology like DLSS, alongside leaks that claim it will also feature a revamped Joy-Con design. But. with Nintendo themselves confirming their next Nintendo Direct will have no mention of it, there is more original Switch software on the way to keep fans happy in the coming months.

6 major Nintendo Direct announcements to expect on Feb 17 – Dexerto
6 major Nintendo Direct announcements to expect on Feb 17 NintendoIt’s been revealed that the next Nintendo Direct will take place on February 17, and these are some of the big announcements that could happen during the event. In typical Nintendo style, the company have made a surprise last-minute announcement that a 50-minute livestream will take place on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 2 PM ET. It will be the first proper Direct since September 4, 2019. Nintendo have promised the update will include “information focused on available games like Super Smash Bros Ultimate” as well as all the games coming to Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021, such as New Pokemon Snap. But gamers will no doubt be hoping for some major announcements, too. Here’s what we’re expecting to see in the February 17 Nintendo Direct, from a new Smash Ultimate fighter to release dates for some of the biggest games. Legend of Zelda 35th anniversary celebrations As this Nintendo Direct arrives the week before the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, which takes place on February 21, it’s likely that there will be quite a few announcements regarding the iconic franchise. In a similar fashion to Super Mario’s 35th-anniversary celebrations in 2020, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the biggest games in the series get re-released. Perhaps Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword on Switch? Read More: Everything we know about New Pokemon Snap – There could be crossovers with other Nintendo video games in the works, too, as Mario got a Super Smash Bros Ultimate online tournament and themed furniture in Animal Crossing for its big anniversary. While remakes are great for nostalgia, most fans will be hoping for something a little bigger, which brings us to our next big prediction… Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release date Okay, so this one seems unlikely, but we can dream, right? A sequel to the critically-acclaimed and universally-beloved Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was announced two years ago, during E3 2019, but since then it’s been radio silence. While this probably isn’t a good sign for a 2021 release date, it could be the case that Nintendo is simply keeping everything under wraps in an attempt to retain the surprise factor when it does get announced. Yes, we’re already getting our clown masks ready for when we don’t get a single piece of news about the game during the Direct, but Nintendo are known to throw a wild card or two out during these big livestreams, so let’s hope. New Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC Nintendo have confirmed that the upcoming Direct will feature Smash Bros Ultimate, so we’d put money on a new DLC fighter being announced at some point during the 50-minute livestream. Following appearances from the likes of Minecraft’s Steve and Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth, the next fighter could be anyone, but fans of the long-running fighter series have some interesting theories. Some players believe Crash Bandicoot could be announced as a fighter as Crash 4 has just been confirmed for a Switch release, while a Smash leaker has hinted at Street Fighter’s Chun-Li or a ‘Tales Of’ character. Metroid Prime 4 release date If it seems like it’s been years since we last heard about Metroid, that’s because it has been. Metroid Prime 4 was announced for Nintendo Switch during E3 2017, and we’ve not had any significant details about the sequel since then. While it might not be Nintendo’s most popular franchise when compared to the likes of Animal Crossing and Super Mario, there are plenty of loyal Metroid fans who are desperate for more adventures from their favorite space warrior Samus Aran. It’s about time we got a release date for Metroid Prime 4, and 2021 would do nicely – especially as Nintendo’s release schedule is looking quite bare right now. Pokemon 25th anniversary celebrations The Legend of Zelda isn’t the only franchise celebrating a major anniversary in 2021. It’s been 25 years since Pokemon Red and Green released on the Game Boy in Japan, and there are sure to be some exciting announcements in store. As well as updates for Pokemon Sword & Shield and Pokemon Go, we might get new information about the big-name music collabs with the likes of Katy Perry and Post Malone taking place this year. There’s always a chance we’ll get a surprise announcement of a new spin-off game, too. What gamers really want, of course, are the long-rumored Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes on Nintendo Switch, but with a focus on games releasing in the first half of 2021, the chances of that happening seem slim. Fortnite crossover skin After both PlayStation and Xbox got crossover skins in Fortnite Season 5 with God of War’s Kratos and Halo’s Master Chief, many players of the popular battle royale were left wondering if Nintendo might follow suit with a character of their own. The most obvious rumor so far has been Metroid’s Samus Aran, as she fits the ‘bounty hunter’ theme of the current season. But there are other franchises that could easily blend in with the world of Fortnite, like The Legend of Zelda and Star Fox. Some might argue that Nintendo are too protective over their IPs to allow a crossover with Fortnite, but we could be surprised. After all, there was a time that no one believed Nintendo would make the jump to mobile gaming, but that happened. We’ve got all the information you need about how to watch the February 17 Nintendo Direct here.

Nintendo confirms major security breach impacted 160,000 accounts – Dexerto
Nintendo confirms major security breach impacted 160,000 accounts NintendoIn an official statement, Nintendo has confirmed that “about 160,000” accounts have had their data breached by illegal logins through the impersonation of Nintendo Network IDs. The Switch is incredibly popular right now – and not just with players collecting turnips, but also apparently with hackers intending on collecting user data. In statements released today, Nintendo explained that one of the ways to sign into your account, the NNID, was illegally impersonated to log in and collect user data — and that this has been going on since early April. While payment information should be secure, the following details may have been compromised: nickname, date of birth, country/region and email address. To deal with the situation, the Japanese company has entirely disabled logins through NNID and is encouraging all users to enable two-step verification as a precautionary measure. As for those whose accounts were impacted, or even possibly affected, Nintendo is reaching out via email to reset passwords. Although rare, there have been some reports of payment methods being affected. Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips reports that “some people whose accounts had been accessed had seen charges on their account via linked payment methods for up to £100 worth of digital items — most commonly, Fortnite’s VBuck currency.” In response, the company’s Japanese statement notes that users should investigate their purchasing history, cancel any suspicious purchases and wait for customer service to respond. I suspect Nintendo may have had a major security breach. My account was accessed numerous times overnight. My password is a unique string and my PC is definitely clean (not that I ever login via it). Lots of similar reports on Reddit/twitter. Unlink PayPal & enable 2FA folks! — Pixelpar (@pixelpar) April 19, 2020 While only confirmed today, the hacking has been going on since early April. This is not the first time Nintendo has been breached, but should hopefully be a wake-up call in privacy preparedness. You have to wonder if thousands of accounts could have been kept secure had the company alerted users and recommended two-step verification earlier in the month. For now, in an effort to limit future hackers, the company is not clarifying exactly how the unauthorized access was gained. Until more information is released, owners of the popular consoles should take care of their passwords and be vigilant in disputing suspicious charges.

Nintendo confirms Bowser & Bowser Jr’s birth dates making everyone feel old – Dexerto
Nintendo confirms Bowser & Bowser Jr’s birth dates making everyone feel old NintendoNintendo has officially confirmed the birth dates of Mario’s main bad guy, Bowser, and his son, Bowser Jr — but this new information is making some fans feel pretty old. The Mario franchise is one of the most recognizable video game series of all time, and one of the oldest. First released in 1985, the Super Mario Bros have gone on to become a major staple in the gaming world in the years since. Alongside their status as gaming icons, the beloved cast of Mario characters has gone on to get their very own movie (which created quite a stir for film buffs) and even scored their own theme park at Universal Studios. It’s been a wild 38 years for the Mario series, as many fans have grown up alongside the fun-file video games — but they got hit with a cold dose of reality when Nintendo released some new information during a YouTube video in 2023. Nintendo reveals Bowser & Bowser Jr’s ages On June 2, 2023, Nintendo of America uploaded a YouTube video teaching first-time Switch users how to create their Nintendo accounts. In the section for filling in one’s personal information, they used Bowser as an example, whose birthday they listed as February 5, 1989. That makes Bowser 34 years old — as old as some fans who have grown up with the Mario games. That’s not all; it also used Bowser Jr. as an example for adding children under 12 to one’s Nintendo account, whose birthday they listed as March 3, 2010. This makes Bowser’s son 13 years old. Of course, this is fun information to have, which humanizes some of Mario’s most iconic characters just a bit… but it’s definitely making more than a few fans feel seriously old. “Oh. I guess I’m older than Bowser. Great,” one Twitter user wrote. “Good lord, Bowser Jr. might be a Fortnite kid,” another joked. However, others are expressing some confusion about these dates, as that would mean that both Bowser and Bowser Jr. actually appeared in their very first games before they were actually born. It’s unclear if these dates are strictly canonical or not; in fact, quite a few Mario characters’ ages are still up in the air. Fans curious about Princess Peach’s age are still left in the dark after watching the Mario Movie, where she’s speculated to be in her early-mid 20s. Nintendo adds infamous tug of war game to Mario Party Superstars & fans aren’t happy – Dexerto
Nintendo adds infamous tug of war game to Mario Party Superstars & fans aren’t happy NintendoOne of the most infamous mini-games from Mario Party is coming back for the latest game in the series, and fans aren’t too thrilled to see it return. Mario Party games always include a variety of mini-games for players to compete in. But, the latest installment in the series will be bringing one back few people are happy to see. What kind of mini-game could cause such a reaction? None other than the classic “Tug o’ War” from the very first title on Nintendo 64. Tug o’ War returns to Mario Party THEY’RE BRINGING THE ORIGINAL CONTROLS FOR THIS GAME BACK, JUST WITH A PALM WARNING? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pic.twitter.com/NUZUkguvqk — Anthony (@KirbyCheatFurby) October 23, 2021 Anyone who played Mario Party on the N64 will probably remember this game. It’s widely considered one of the worst out of all of them. For Tug o’ War, you had to rotate the joystick as fast as you could to win. This led to cases of controllers breaking, and people receiving injuries from playing. Nintendo even agreed to provide players with protective gloves back in 2000 because they received so many reports of kids getting hurt. Now the infamous mini-game is coming back for the next title in the series, Mario Party Superstars, and many players aren’t too thrilled. “They’re bringing the original controls for this game back, just with a palm warning?” Twitter user @KirbyCheatFurby posted. “Just don’t add the game???? Please?” bro they knew how easy it is to break a joycon’s stick n saw a business opportunity with mario party to get ppl to buy more the sick fucks https://t.co/jVuc1i1E0Y — HARTHUR (@realHARTHUR) October 23, 2021 Others even accused Nintendo of knowing the effect the game had on N64 joysticks back in the day. Despite this, they brought it back anyway. “Bro they knew how easy it is to break a joycon’s stick n saw a business opportunity with mario party to get ppl to buy more the sick f***s,” HARTHUR said on Twitter about the game’s return. Mario Party Superstars comes out on October 29, and if you’re planning on playing from day one, it might just be a good idea to use a controller you aren’t that fond of. Gloves may not be a bad idea, either.

Nintendo announces shutdown date for 3DS/Wii U servers – Dexerto
Nintendo announces shutdown date for 3DS/Wii U servers NintendoThe end of an era is near, as Nintendo has announced that the 3DS and Wii U’s online servers are shutting down in April, save for a few Pokemon-related apps. The Nintendo 3DS & Wii U represented a huge step forward for Nintendo’s online ambitions, following the dismal online support on the DS and Wii. Games in franchises like Super Smash Bros. and Pokemon suddenly were far better online than before. Nintendo would eventually move onto the Switch, with the 3DS and Wii U audience slowly dwindling over time. This left the question of what will happen to the servers for these games, as they cost money to run, but some players still use them. It was eventually revealed that the Nintendo 3DS & Wii U servers are shutting down in 2024, with only a loose release window given. Nintendo has finally provided a concrete date for everyone to prepare for the end of the previous generation’s servers. Nintendo 3DS & Wii U servers close in April A new post on the Nintendo of America Twitter/X account has announced that the 3DS & Wii U servers will close on April 8, 2024. All offline content will continue to work as normal, but nearly all online functionality will be closed down. The only exception to the shutdown will be Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter. As these apps are still popular, they will remain online for the time being but will also likely be shut down at some point in the future. Make sure to save your Pokemon from being trapped in Gen 6 & 7 if you need them. The Nintendo website also confirmed that you can still download games you own and software updates for the foreseeable future. However, this functionality may also cease in the future, so make sure to download any games you have purchased on the eShop in the past. With the rumors about the Switch’s successor increasing daily, it seems like the end could also be in sight for the Switch’s servers, presenting challenges for console owners who prefer digital ownership over physical media. Now that the end is coming for the 3DS and Wii U, we have an idea of how Nintendo is handling its online structure for the foreseeable future, and if you lose access to your game library on those systems, then the shift back to physical media might be the better option.

Nintendo addresses sexual harassment claims at American office – Dexerto
Nintendo addresses sexual harassment claims at American office Wikimedia Commons: PyrenilNintendo of America president Doug Bowser has addressed a number of sexual harassment and sexism claims leveled against the company in a recent Kotaku report, stating the developer has “strict policies designed to protect our employees and associates from inappropriate conduct”. Nintendo, specifically its American branch, has been slapped with further harassment claims as female contractors and employees have spoken out about alleged discriminatory conduct at the gaming giant. Women who worked at Nintendo of America alleged some male colleagues would make “really gross jokes and comments”, and were threatened with retaliation if they reported incidents to HR — including dismissal. These stories were outlined in an August 16 Kotaku report. The report also named Melvin Forrest, one of the company’s top product testers, as encouraging this culture. “It was pretty common knowledge that he would make comments, hit on people, like to [tell] associates, ‘Oh she’s so beautiful,’” one tester said. The environment within the product testing team was akin to “a frat house sometimes”, other testers said. On the same day as Kotaku’s report, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser sent an internal message to employees and contractors asking them to speak up if they have faced any form of harassment. “We have strict policies designed to protect our employees and associates from inappropriate conduct and expect full compliance with these policies by all who work for or with us,” he wrote. “We have and will always investigate any allegations we become aware of, and we are actively investigating these most recent claims.” The harassment and sexism claims are on top of working condition complaints Nintendo has been dealing with. Former employees have reported issues with surveillance and retaliation to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), but the company has remained publicly silent. The company has spoken internally about sexual harassment issues, with Bowser previously acknowledging the problems at Activision Blizzard. “I find these accounts distressing and disturbing. They run counter to my values as well as Nintendo’s beliefs, values and policies,” he said in a company email in November 2021. It comes as game developers across the world deal with instances of sexism, racism, and harassment. Activision Blizzard is the most high-profile case after its “pervasive frat boy culture”, as labeled by California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing, was made public across 2021. The company is still trying to settle lawsuits adjacent to the initial claims, while an internal investigation found “no widespread harassment”. Riot Games has been actively changing its workplace culture towards women since claims came to light in 2018, settling a historic gender discrimination lawsuit for $100 million in December 2021. Ubisoft and other developers have also been scrutinized.

Nintendo abandoning console lifecycles to continue supporting the Switch – Dexerto
Nintendo abandoning console lifecycles to continue supporting the Switch NintendoNintendo revealed in its latest financial earnings call that it’s abandoning the console lifecycle system and will continue to release titles on the Switch despite its age. The Nintendo Switch is entering its eighth year on the market, which is a surprisingly long time for a Nintendo home console. Usually, Nintendo already has the successor system lined up and ready to launch this far into a console’s lifecycle. In Japan, there were seven years between the NES and the SNES, six years between the SNES and the N64, five years between the N64 and the GameCube, five years between the GameCube and Wii, six years between the Wii and Wii U, and five years between the Wii U and the Switch. Nintendo has been quashing rumors about the Switch 2, suggesting that a new system won’t be revealed anytime soon. This is due to changes in how the company is approaching the video game business in comparison to its treatment of previous consoles. Nintendo plans to continue supporting the Switch despite its age The latest financial briefing on the Nintendo corporate site featured a statement about the future of the Nintendo Switch, which Wario64 has helpfully uploaded on Twitter/X. According to Nintendo, the traditional platform lifecycle no longer binds the company, so it will continue to support the Switch. The fact that the Switch is Nintendo’s second best-selling system (just behind the Nintendo DS) likely contributes to this thinking, as there is a massive audience on the platform that is continuing to buy games. There’s no particular rush for Nintendo to leave them behind. The gradual shift to digital games and an abundance of third-party support also means that the Switch can continue to stay relevant in the future in ways that the 3DS and the Wii U could not. Indie developers and third-party companies could keep the Switch going for years with new content. One concerning aspect is the lack of first-party games on the schedule, especially now that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been released. If Nintendo is planning on supporting the Switch, then it really needs to announce some homegrown titles to keep fans interested. The Nintendo Switch is incredibly popular, especially in Japan, and the PS5 & Xbox Series X/S generation hasn’t quite left it in the dust regarding hardware. The Switch could continue to dominate for years to come so long as Nintendo is willing to keep bringing high-quality titles to the system.

Nintendo to use current account system for “smooth transition” to next-gen – Dexerto
Nintendo to use current account system for “smooth transition” to next-gen NintendoNintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa says the company will use the Switch’s current account system for a “smooth transition” to next-gen consoles. While Microsoft and Sony have mostly provided a seamless transition of user accounts between console generations, Nintendo has historically fallen behind in this regard. But there is some sense of consistency in the Nintendo ecosystem, historically speaking. For one, 3DS and Wii U owners could link Network accounts tied to each respective system. And those with a lingering balance on one or the other still have until March 2024 to transfer unused funds from the older accounts to Switch’s Nintendo Account. Fortunately, the company plans on making things much simpler with the advent of its eventual next-gen hardware. Switch’s Nintendo Accounts should work on next-gen hardware During a shareholder Q&A (translated by Genki), Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said the company will do what it can to smoothly transition Switch players to the next generation using the existing Nintendo Account system. Furukawa additionally noted the system presently hosts 290 million accounts across console and mobile platforms. Presumably, Nintendo will keep this data in mind when building out its network infrastructure for the still-unannounced next-gen machine. While Nintendo’s plans for its account system on next-gen are interesting, the hardware itself remains shrouded in mystery. Some pieces of speculation have made the rounds over the last several months, however. For example, spec-related rumors indicate the new machine could potentially support 4K visuals Whatever the case, it’s clear Nintendo won’t have anything concrete to share for quite some time. Furukawa stated earlier this year that a Switch successor is not planned to release before April 2024.

Ninja will be featured on cover of ESPN The Magazine – Dexerto
Ninja will be featured on cover of ESPN The Magazine ESPNStreamer extraordinaire Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins is set to be featured on cover of the next issue of ESPN The Magazine, a publication released every two weeks by the popular sports network. Ninja announced the news via a post on his Twitter page on September 17, in which he stated that this will make him the first ever professional gamer to be displayed on the magazine’s cover. It is not yet clear whether the image below will be part of the magazine’s cover or not, since Ninja said in his tweet that the full cover will be shown on ESPN the next day. The fact that Ninja can now say that he is a part of that group is not only a huge individual honor for him, but a major testament to how much gaming has grown and how far it has transcended into popular culture. Of course ESPN is very familiar with gaming; not only do they have a full section of their website dedicated to esports, they’ve also struck a multi-year broadcast deal with Blizzard Entertainment to broadcast the Overwatch League, which included the recent Season 1 playoffs and grand finals. Similarly, they also have a non-exclusive deal with the North American League of Legends Championship series to broadcast matches on the ESPN+ streaming platform.

Ninja voices serious concerns about the next Halo game – Dexerto
Ninja voices serious concerns about the next Halo game Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has some serious concerns about the next Halo game and the lack of information from the developers at 343 Industries. The biggest streamer on Twitch, who played Halo professionally for a number of years before switching to full-time content production, appears to be particularly concerned about the future of the game. “There are a lot of things that scare me about this new halo, man,” said the streaming superstar. “Number one: no footage yet. At all. Anywhere. And their trailer was just the map. “I feel like the only reason they give so little information is just so that people buy the game…” “I feel like they’re doing not what they could. They could do so much more to hype Halo right now. I feel like they haven’t been leaking anything… you know what I mean?” Shortly after, Ninja expanded on those comments, saying: “Listen man, Halo has ‘waited to surprise everyone’ so much. Honestly dude, at this point, I feel like the only reason they even do that now, and this is like a stretch man, I feel like the only reason they give so little information is just so that people buy the game – hoping that it’s going to be a good Halo. “Like I feel like that might actually be legitimate strategy. I could be an idiot right now and talking out of my butt, but it’s like ‘we don’t tell anyone know what it looks like so that, when it comes out, they buy it to see if it’s good, and then it won’t be! And we’ve already sold millions of copies by then’.” Halo 6, which will be called Halo Infinite, was originally revealed at E3 2018 and will be a continuation of the Master Chief story, but little else is known about the game. It has now been over three months since that announcement, and the cinematic trailer that accompanied it, and some players and fans are beginning to get impatient as they wait for more information and in-game footage. You can view the E3 announcement trailer below.

Ninja rage quits in epic fashion after struggling to beat Sekiro boss – Dexerto
Ninja rage quits in epic fashion after struggling to beat Sekiro boss Ninja, Twitch / FromSoftwareSekiro: Shadows Die Twice has been making waves across the gaming world, thanks to its challenging gameplay – which Twitch streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins found out about during his fight with the game’s Guardian Ape boss. [Warning: spoilers ahead!] Ninja appeared to have secured a major victory over the boss after a grueling, 30-minute battle, celebrating his seemingly final Shinobi Execution with a triumphant exclamation. However, Ninja didn’t know that the boss had a second form; he quickly swiveled the camera around as the Ape came to life, carrying its severed head as it rushed toward him. The streamer promptly paused the game and took off his headset in apparent defeat, walking away from his setup – much to his chat’s amusement. However, this didn’t stop Ninja from attempting to defeat the Ape’s second form; although it quickly dispatched the player, he followed up his defeat with a hilarious quip, saying, “Now I know. Now I know.” Does Sekiro really need an easy mode? Sekiro’s difficulty has been a major point of contention across the internet, with some players arguing that the title is too difficult and should feature an easy mode, while others point out how rewarding the game feels after finally beating a frustrating boss. After Forbes published its controversial article, ‘Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice needs to respect its players and add an easy mode,’ some PC modders inadvertently created an assist mode for the game, which allows users to adjust player speed and global game speed. Sekiro’s difficulty has been a massive point of contention across the internet, with some players arguing that the title needs an easy mode.https://powerup-gaming.com/2019/03/07/check-out-some-brand-new-sekiro-screenshots/ Is Sekiro’s difficulty a bad thing? While it’s not an outright decrease in difficulty, it does make the timing of parries much easier to see, giving struggling players a much-needed boost (provided they’re not playing on console). That’s not all; one article from PC Gamer recounted the author’s experience beating the game using cheats, which stirred up mass controversy on Twitter from disgruntled players who questioned the reviewer’s credibility. This is in retort to PC gamer saying they used cheats in Sekiro, a game intended to be difficult, because they couldn’t be assed to put any effort into the game, and then insulted people for beating it normally — Spencer Durette (@highmax28) April 7, 2019 Sekiro, like many games in the SoulsBorne genre, is inherently, frustratingly difficult, at times; however, like fighting games or any other test of skill, it feels immensely rewarding after finally mastering the parry or dispatching a boss. PC modders inadvertently created an assist mode for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, allowing players to adjust the game’s global game speed to slow down parrying times.https://powerup-gaming.com/2019/03/07/check-out-some-brand-new-sekiro-screenshots/ Despite this fact, it comes as no surprise that the game’s unforgiving nature can incite moments of extreme rage, as seen in Ninja’s hilarious reaction to the Guardian Ape’s second wind.

Ninja strikes gold in first-ever attempt at Only Up!: “Is that it?” – Dexerto
Ninja strikes gold in first-ever attempt at Only Up!: “Is that it?” YouTube: Ninja / SCKR GamesWith exceptional precision and grit, renowned streamer Ninja completed the challenging Only Up! game in 2 hours and 18 minutes on his first-ever attempt. Only Up! is a notoriously demanding game that requires expert navigation skills, precise jumping, and unyielding resolve. It challenges players to ascend from the ground to the edge of space, navigating through a meticulously crafted obstacle course. The game’s allure captivated streamers worldwide, including IShowSpeed, xQc, and YouTube personality DrDisRespect to name a few. Many have made several attempts to conquer it, while others are still striving for completion. For Ninja, however, the story unfolded differently. Despite a trolling chat room attempting to throw him off track for most of the stream, Ninja tackled the notorious game head-on and achieved victory on his first attempt. You can find Ninja’s full Only Up stream below or click here if the video fails to load. His prowess, honed from his legendary Fortnite stints, proved a perfect fit for the platformer game. Even after a single fall 23 minutes into his playthrough, he remained undeterred. Bouncing back like a true champion, he continued his ascent, providing a thrilling spectacle for the viewers who tuned in on July 3. Upon concluding his triumphant run, he remarked, “That was fun, man. I literally feel like I just completed a long day’s work, and I just want to relax now. Is that it?” Adding an extra layer of excitement for his viewers, he hinted at future speedruns, of which Only Up! players have already been pushing the pace. Developed by SCKR Games, Only Up! has been a sensation on Twitch since its release, even despite a minor hiccup when it was temporarily pulled from Steam over a copyright dispute. The game quickly returned and has consistently drawn in the crowds, garnering a peak viewership of 163,665 on July 3, per Twitch Tracker. The game challenges players’ patience to the extreme. With no checkpoints, a single misstep can send the player tumbling back to the starting point. However, the reward is a breathtaking journey through exotic locales and cultural settings. And for those with an eagle eye, there are easter eggs that blend pop culture references into the game. While Only Up! does have its frustrations and could benefit from some polishing in terms of controls and movement mechanics, its allure lies in its unique and challenging level design. The thrill of navigating toward the pinnacle resonates with players, who invest countless hours in the game. Unless you’re Ninja, that is. Then you only need a mere 2 hours and 18 minutes.

Ninja Passes Ronaldo, Neymar, and Others to Lead All Athletes in April Social Media Interactions With a Staggering Figure – Dexerto
Ninja Passes Ronaldo, Neymar, and Others to Lead All Athletes in April Social Media Interactions With a Staggering Figure In the gaming world, few personalities can stack up against popular streamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins in terms of name recognition in recent months. Ninja originally made his name known throughout the gaming world as a professional Halo player for multiple years, yet decided to retire from competition to pursue a full-time career in content creation. Now that many consider him the ‘face of Twitch’ with a collection of records on the platform in regards to concurrent viewers, subscribers, and other accolades, he has crept into the mainstream eye in terms of popularity. His prowess on Twitch and YouTube, along with a record-breaking stream with Drake, Travis Scott, and others, allowed him to be the first gamer on the top 10 list for athletes in terms of social media interactions for the month of March according to Hookit. However, while some may have thought that his presence on the list may have been propelled by his star-studded streams, Ninja returned as the number one spot for the month of April with over 150 million interactions, beating out the likes of some of the most popular athletes in the world. People can argue about whether gamers are athletes or if Ninja’s insane run reflects on esports or just gaming more broadly. All of this misses the point. In 2018, a gamer can drive more social engagement than Ronaldo, LeBron, or Brady. What at time to be alive. — Bryce Blum (@esportslaw) May 8, 2018 With his channel and the Twitch community only continuing to grow, it does not appear that Ninja will be slowing down anytime soon at the time of writing. The full list of Hookit social media interaction rankings for the month of April 2018 can be viewed right here.

How does Ninja make money? Understanding the gaming superstar’s net worth – Dexerto
How does Ninja make money? Understanding the gaming superstar’s net worth adidasWhen you think of superstars in gaming that have helped bring the industry into the mainstream, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins will likely be the first people that comes to mind. His meteoric rise following his retirement from competitive play has undoubtedly served him well. His experience in esports helped to position himself well in Fortnite when the battle royale title initially rose to mainstream prominence, which effectively saw his stream and videos grow in popularity alongside the game. He was grinding games such as H1Z1 and PUBG prior, but Epic Games’ seminal title truly was the catalyst for his following success. From playing with Drake and Travis Scott to getting his own collaborative products with adidas, Ninja has plenty on the go — he’s made plenty of money in the process, too. While it’s difficult to know exact financial details for creators, some give ballpark figures when speaking to press and truly demonstrate the power of social media and the gaming industry. Let’s break down everything we know about how Ninja makes money and his net worth. What is Ninja’s net worth? Without a look at Ninja’s accounting it’s impossible to know just how much he’s grossed over his tenured career in gaming and esports, but there are estimates online based on his many activities. It helps that he revealed he earned “a lot more” than $500,000 per month in 2018, totalling almost $10m throughout the year. Since then, however, he’s entered lucrative deals that will have massively bolstered his fortune. Regardless of the source used, the most common estimate of Ninja’s net worth is $25m as of 2021. How Ninja makes money Streaming and videos Content is everything for Ninja, not only in terms of revenue generation but also in overall exposure that helps him secure brand deals, and that is reflected in his income. He currently streams on Amazon’s Twitch platform, raking in money from advertisements, paid subscriptions, and donations. The real wealth he earns from streaming is through exclusive deals. It was a big deal when he moved from Twitch to Mixer in late 2019, a move that reportedly would have netted him over $40m during a three-to-five-year stint. He famously returned to Twitch in August 2020 following a bidding war between Amazon and Google. He’s slowed down on the YouTube front in recent months but still benefits from the typical money-making feature of the Google-owned platform, advertising revenue on his videos. Brand deals, Ninja merchandise, and other ventures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fxi9fqYx74 As with many top content creators, brand deals tend to be lucrative and make up a significant amount of their total income. Ninja himself isn’t excluded from this: he was reportedly paid $1m to stream Apex Legends when it launched, he has a partnership with sports giant adidas, and he has an intensive working relationship with Red Bull. While financial terms of such deals are hard to come by, it’s not cheap for companies to access Ninja’s audience. Read More: How does Dream make money? – The popular streamer also has an official apparel line aptly named Team Ninja, offering multiple collections aimed predominantly at fellow gamers. Items include $60 hoodies, $30 T-shirts, and $50 sweatpants. Considering he himself owns this brand, he’s likely to take home the majority of revenue generated here. Ninja also has licensing deals with the likes of Wicked Cool Toys and Funko that sees collectable toys and accessories in his image. “They are the perfect team to launch the Ninja toy and collectable consumer products brand into the future both here and around the world,” he said of Wicked Cool Toys in 2019. He even has his own book, which he called the “Ultimate Guide to Gaming.” Published in August 2019, the book lays out what he believes to be a comprehensive guide to setting yourself up for success when it comes to competing in esports. He signed a three-book deal with Clarkson Potter and Ten Speed Press, though financial terms weren’t disclosed. Read More: How does PewDiePie make money? – While it’s unclear whether he’s being paid for acting or he’s simply happy to be integrated into Hollywood, Ninja certainly seems to be expanding into the mainstream media sector. He was set to appear in Jumanji: The Next Level, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart, though his role was eventually cut, he’s set to appear in Ryan Reynold’s Free Guy, and he has an upcoming voice acting role for an unspecified television series. While he may not have as many revenue streams as KSI or MrBeast, being one of the faces of the gaming industry is evidently serving Ninja well.

Ninja officially returns to Twitch streaming after Mixer shutdown – Dexerto
Ninja officially returns to Twitch streaming after Mixer shutdown Ninja[jwplayer 91I9RIGm]Ninja is back on Twitch. After months with Mixer, to months of non-exclusivity, the biggest streamer in the world is making his exclusive return to the website where he gained his fame. Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins got paid millions to leave Twitch and stream exclusively on Mixer. Months later, Mixer folded and Ninja was left without a home for his content. The ever-popular streamer and global gaming ambassador proceeded to take his time and evaluate his options, streaming on YouTube one day and Twitch on another. But finally, fans have their answer: the blue-haired head-clicker is back on Twitch. Ninja streamed on Mixer for a little under a year, signing in August 2019 and getting bought out of his contract in June 2020 as the site folded. Since then, he’s continued to be a prominent figure in the community with gigantic branding deals, but streamed very rarely. In July, he tried out an impromptu YouTube stream, his first live session since the buyout. In August, he tested out a surprise Twitch stream. Read more: Ninja, Mr Beast & more get Fall Guys skins – Both streams went remarkably well despite a lack of promotion and now, having shown each platform what he’s capable of and playing with their capacities, he is coming back to Twitch — where he has continued to be the site’s most-followed streamer, by far, even with months spent elsewhere. When is Ninja’s first Twitch stream back? Ninja has confirmed this “new chapter” on Twitch will begin at 2pm CT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST on September 10. First stream back starts at 2 central. Gifting 100 subs every 30 minutes until then. Hop in the chat 🙂 https://t.co/QC3Dpr8MTr — Ninja (@Ninja) September 10, 2020 He may have only streamed on Twitch about one time in the past year, but Ninja is returning to what continues to be the largest follower count on all of Twitch, at a whopping 15-plus million. The difference between his follower count and second-best, Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney’s 9 million, is about the difference between Tfue and the 17th-most-followed account. That perfectly exemplifies how popular Ninja has continued to be on Twitch, despite being completely absent. For context, Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek was also paid millions to leave Twitch for Mixer and just recently made his return to the platform. Now, Shroud is Twitch’s fastest-growing streamer and his follower count has risen into the top three, as he sits with about 8 million. Back in June, it was reported that Shroud’s Mixer contract buyout got him about $10 million and Ninja’s…in the hefty $30 million range. The streamers are obviously held in very high regard and one should not be surprised that negotiations with Twitch lasted this long.

Ninja left stunned after nailing first attempt at Wordle in one guess – Dexerto
Ninja left stunned after nailing first attempt at Wordle in one guess Twitch: @Ninja / New York TimesProlific streamer Ninja was left utterly stunned after he played Wordle for the first time on stream and guessed the answer correctly on his first try. The puzzle game Wordle took the world by storm at the beginning of 2022, with images of grey, yellow, and green squares flooding social media platforms like X. A large part of the game’s viral fame was thanks to social media influences spreading the word about the fun word game on their platforms, including Dr Disrespect, Pokimane, and many others. However, some content creators and streamers apparently never got into Wordle, like streaming titan Ninja, who played it for the first time live on stream. And it’s a good thing it was recorded as his first attempt is something to behold. Ninja left awestruck after playing Wordle for the first time During Ninja’s stream on November 8, 2023, the popular streamer was playing Fortnite when his chat began talking about the viral puzzle game. While no members of the chat appeared to give away the answer, many urged the streamer to pull up the game live and try to guess the word correctly. The Fortnite star tabbed out and pulled up the Wordle window for the stream to see and pondered over his first guess before typing ‘Ninja’ into the blank. Ninja second-guessed the obvious answer and asked his stream, “I don’t want to use a word like ‘Ninja’ right,” thanks to its repeating letters. However, he decided to go for it anyway and was stunned when each box transitioned to green. The content creator’s face immediately lit up as he looked around in disbelief. “Dude, I swear to god, bro! I didn’t even know. Not staged, I haven’t even done a Wordle in my life!” Ninja posted the clip to X, where it quickly went viral as fans reacted to his luck. “No shottt the first day you do it it’s that word. So freakin lucky…” No shottt the first day you do it it’s that word. So freakin lucky… — Byte Size Mike but Spooky (@bytesizemike) November 8, 2023 It seems as though Ninja intends to keep his miraculous Wordle record intact going forward. “I’m 100% dude, I’m never doing it again.”

Ninja has changed his hairstyle and fans aren’t pleased – Dexerto
Ninja has changed his hairstyle and fans aren’t pleased One of Twitch’s most iconic sons, Ninja, has decided to change his hairstyle. While for most, this would just be an everyday occurrence, Ninja’s fans aren’t too happy with this transformation, and have kicked up a fuss. [jwplayer qtClEeZt] Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins has become somewhat of a cult figure in the world of video gaming, renowned for his flashy gameplay, Fortnite streams, and (usually) bright blue hair. However, he’s also now a sensation outside of Twitch, recently signing to The Creative Artists Agency, who also represents a plethora of superstar names, including the likes of Ariana Grande. Something that isn’t popular, however, is Ninja’s lockdown hair transformation. To say that the choice was a divisive one is an understatement. Ninja is a blond?! In a series of Tweets, the Fortnite star started a hype train regarding his newest haircut. Tweeting out hours before the event that he was getting his “quarantine haircut and color”, fans immediately started debating which color was the chosen one. However, the final product left fans mixed, at best. The typically rainbow-colored Fortnite king has decided to dye his hair a bleached blond, something that fans believe pales in comparison to his other luminous hairstyles. Will the real slim shady please stand up? pic.twitter.com/wLAPiSs5S1 — Ninja (@Ninja) November 18, 2020 A wave of angry fan comments probably wasn’t the response that Ninja expected. This transformation appeared to seem underwhelming to fans who have come to expect more vibrant hairstyles that are inkeeping with the star’s image. A vast swathe of tweets compared his new hairstyle to instant ramen or pasta due to the yellow-blond colour and the fact that, when the photo was taken, his hair was still wet. https://twitter.com/juicewyd/status/1328870589080211457 https://twitter.com/TweaksOT/status/1328869154078683136 Others compared him to fellow Twitch streamer xQc – after all, the resemblance is uncanny. Will the real @xQc please stand up pic.twitter.com/Uary7Vat20 — Pradayou (@PradaNextUp) November 18, 2020 Will the fans rally behind Ninja’s newest trim? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime though, maybe it’s best to reconsider any plans you have to go platinum blond…

Ninja is coming to RAID: Shadow Legends as a playable character – Dexerto
Ninja is coming to RAID: Shadow Legends as a playable character PlariumStreaming star Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins will be featured in yet another video game — RAID: Shadow Legends. Ninja already has his own skin in Fortnite, and now it’s been announced he’ll be making a cameo in yet another game. No, it’s not Warzone or Apex Legends, instead it’s a game you’ve probably heard of if you’ve ever seen an ad on YouTube. That’s right, Ninja will be coming to RAID: Shadow Legends as a playable character in an update on July 16, according to information posted by gamespot. We’ll get more details about Ninja’s character in RAID — which we admit does look pretty cool — during a livestream on July 19, and the streamer seems excited about the cameo as well. “The wings are absolutely perfect, I’m a huge Sephiroth fan, so that was my little inspiration behind what it would look like,” Ninja said about his character. “They absolutely nailed it.” Ss soon as images of Ninjas cameo in RAID started coming out, so did the jokes, but mainly people seemed to be in disbelief that Blevins was in yet another game. “I wake up to Ninja in Raid Shadow Legends and LeBron in Fortnite,” one Twitter user said. “I’m going back to bed.” If you want to try out Ninja’s character for yourself, he’ll arrive in RAID on July 16 like we mentioned earlier, and he’ll be completely free for all players for three months. Even if you don’t download RAID to try out his new character, Ninja’s livestream on July 19 introducing it — where the streamer kind of resembles an extra in Star Trek — looks like it should be at least pretty entertaining.

Nightmare Kart trailers Nightmare Kart has received several trailers since its inception as a Bloodborne fan project, including character reveals similar to those released for fighting games like Super Smash Bros. and Tekken. Most recently, Walther released a First Look Trailer showing off Nightmare Kart’s new look. This was preceded by another trailer in early April 2024, which announced the game’s new name and release date. Nightmare Kart gameplay & story While it may look like a simple kart racer with graphics that pay homage to the PlayStation 1 era, Nightmare Kart is about more than just racing. True to its Bloodborne inspiration, the game has combat. The goal is still to cross the finish line first, but complicating things is the fact that all racers have guns and health bars. Nightmare Kart will launch with 20 racers, 12 unique vehicles, and 16 maps – all legally distinct from Bloodborne characters and locations, of course. It’ll also have a campaign mode, complete with bosses that have giant Soulsbourne-style health bars to deal with, and a VS Battle mode so you can compete with friends. As for the game’s story, Nightmare Kart’s Steam page explains, “You are a beast hunter, conscripted against your will to participate in a most peculiar local custom: a tournament where participants race atop mysterious vehicles comprised of copper and steam.” Whether more content is planned for future updates is unclear, but either way, Nightmare Kart looks to offer a great deal of content, especially for a free game that started as a fan project. Nightingale Realm Cards explained – Dexerto
Nightingale Realm Cards explained Inflexion GamesAs arguably the central mechanic in open-world survival Nightingale, it’s important to understand how realms work. A big part of that is Realm Cards. Here’s everything you need to know about how they work. Developed by Inflexion Games, Nightingale is a crafting-focused survival game that leans into its alternative Victorian aesthetic. Players are known as Realmwalkers, and they are able to travel between Realms using one of a number of Arcane Portals. Realm Cards are a major part of setting up those inter-realm traversals, and they dictate a lot about how the game functions. They can also be used to control more specific facets between realms, depending on the priorities of the player. Read on for everything we know about Realm Cards in Nightingale. Complete guide to Nightingale Realm Cards So what are Realm Cards? Essentially, the developer describes them as craftable items imbued with powerful arcane magic. When used in Arcane Portals, they decide several important factors, altering the procedurally generated realms that follow. At the time of writing, there are three distinct types of Realm Cards for players to craft: Biome Cards – Major Realm Cards – Minor Realm Cards – Biome Cards: As the name suggests, Biome Cards dictate what the next realm will look like in terms of environment. These can be anything from Forests to Swamps or Deserts, and they alter the experience when setting up a new realm to explore. Major Realm Cards: Major Realm Cards decide the most important features of a new exploration realm. This can include friendly civilizations, ancient technology or unique magic. Minor Realm Cards: Minor Realm Cards are much more subtle, but they arguably have the potential to be the most interesting in the game. These can do a lot, from modifying the aesthetic to entirely altering how the game plays. All of that results in procedurally generated realms essentially macro-designed by the player. The idea is that it will greatly increase the potential for customization and replayability. Biome and Major cards are necessary to successfully create a realm in a portal machine, but the Minor cards can be used at the players’ discretion. The game has just launched worldwide and it won’t be long before the community is sharing their discoveries. Whether this new survival will have the staying power to thrive, remains to be seen.

Nightingale developer says it “misjudged” players wanting offline mode – Dexerto
Nightingale developer says it “misjudged” players wanting offline mode Inflexion GamesNightingale developer Inflexion Games has announced that it will be expediting the development of an offline mode for the game. Playing online with friends can be some of the most fun you can have in games. Especially in survival titles, when you and your friends share a space and build an amazing structure to live in, it can be a great time. However, you may not want to have to convince your friends to buy a new game, such as Nightingale, or maybe after a long day of dealing with people, you just want to shut off and explore on your own. That’s what some were hoping for with Nightingale. That they’d be able to enjoy the fantasy survival game on their own, and crucially, offline. Those players have made their voices known since the game’s launch too. It hasn’t fallen on deaf ears either. Inflexion Games has said that it’s now focused on getting an offline mode into the game fast. Offline play is coming to Nightingale In a post on Steam, the developer explained it’s now focused on getting the mode out to people as quickly as possible. It said: “Our vision for the game since inception was to create an interconnected series of Realms, with the idea of allowing for co-operative exploration in mind – a universe bigger than a single Realm or server. That meant we made a choice early in development between supporting co-op from day one or focusing development on an offline mode.” “Looking back on that decision, we misjudged what some of you were looking for in your experience.” It then added: “We are now prioritizing and developing an offline mode that we plan to release as soon as feasible.” There is no timeline given to this, but it’s clear it’s something the developer wants to sort out sooner rather than later. Hopefully, it won’t be too long now, and those who wish to realm walk without friends or the need for an internet connection will get exactly what they are asking for.

NieR Automata’s secret door is stumping players five years after release – Dexerto
NieR Automata’s secret door is stumping players five years after release PlatinumGamesFive years on from NieR: Automata’s release, a new-found secret door is stumping players. After one player stirred up the entire community, by showcasing a path leading to a never-before-seen church, excited yet confused fans are trying to figure out how to get through. NieR: Automata was renowned on release five years ago in 2017, with players still flocking back to it to this day to push through the post-apocalyptic world as 2B. Players assumed all the secrets for the game were discovered — but a post from a Reddit user on r/nier has thrown a major spanner into the works. Sadfutago uploaded a video, showcasing a secret door entering to a small room. Though seemingly unimpressive at first, the small room leads down into a basement going many stories lower. At the bottom, a grand door greets the player — opening up to an almost dream-like church setting. After the initial post, sadfutago attempted to show more videos providing context to the mysterious church and door. But despite their other posts, the community cannot get a clear understanding of what exactly is happening. Is the NieR Automata secret door real? The short answer is: nobody really knows. But here are the leading theories regarding NieR: Automata’s secret door. Tons of players have grown skeptical of the room, claiming the room is fake. After all, the game’s been released since 2017, what are the chances there are secrets left to be discovered? Members of the community have been asking this question, pondering the discovery. Some users even wonder if the user, sadfutago, is even real — questioning their far from perfect word choice and communication skills. Members of the community claim the video may be modded. But according to Lance McDonald on Twitter, there’s no known mod capable of such detailed creation. Others wonder if this church was part of the “final secret” referred to by Yoko Taro years ago. Lance McDonald disproved this particular theory, claiming “the final secret was already discovered [by him] a while ago, the Japanese NieR Twitter account confirmed it at the time.” Even the creators and developers of the game began chiming in on the drama — but confirming and denying nothing. Yoko Taro does little to nothing to answer the community’s questions. Other trails of thought wonder if the entire situation is a big brained viral marketing tactic, especially with the game’s Switch release on the horizon. It’s difficult to say what exactly is going on — but one thing is clear, the community is loving the mystery of NieR: Automata’s secret door. As for how you get there? Good luck finding out, because no one except for sadfutago knows.

Nier Automata gets bizarre new tie-ins that includes a toolbox – Dexerto
Nier Automata gets bizarre new tie-ins that includes a toolbox In typical Nier fashion, the latest products to hit stores are such odd choices that it perfectly fits the series. If it’s not director Yoko Taro donning a massive head to mask his face, or in general being weird, it’s his series that is. The original Nier was a cult favorite, with two versions made for both Western and Japanese audiences. Then, in 2016, we were shown a sequel to Nier, Nier Automata that planted the series on the map. While the Nier front has been relatively quiet since the launch of Replicant, the remaster of the original, it hasn’t been in terms of selling you things. Much like Evangelion, the deep meanings of the series are upended for toys, figures, apparel and so much more. Now, Nier Automata has a new product tie-in: a toolbox. Made by Groove Garage, the company produces a wide assortment of apparel, mugs, and more. However, in amongst the strangeness, lies these things. Groove Garage hasn’t just stopped at the Nier Automata branded toolbox, why not pick up some Nier Automata branded storage boxes? Weird new Nier Automata products fit the series perfectly At first, we thought these would be small – but expensive – trinkets for your existing anime figure collection. However, that’s far from the case. These are legitimate items that you could feasibly use in your day-to-day. Hobby Link Japan gives no real information regarding these, so we found it through Hobby Search. This site gives us the specifications, including that the toolbox is made out of steel and weighs around 2.3lbs (1060g) The crates – which come in 9S and 2B flavors as well – can hold up to 50 liters and measure 530x366x334mm. The toolbox starts shipping in April 2024, along with the crates. Also launching alongside them is a bag, and patches, among other things. If you click on a product link on this page we may earn a small affiliate commission.

NICKMERCS will be “brutally honest” about Dr Disrepect’s game but it’s too early to judge – Dexerto
NICKMERCS will be “brutally honest” about Dr Disrepect’s game but it’s too early to judge NICKMERCS/Midnight SocietyTwitch star Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff urged some of his viewers to pump the brakes on hyping up Dr Disrespect’s DEADROP battle royale, noting it’s “too early” to be making big claims about it. With the battle royale market getting bigger and bigger by the months, plenty of games have claimed that they could make the perfect game. However, only one has put their money where they mouth is – Dr Disrespect. The Two-Time has been working on a vertical battle royale known as DEADROP with his Midnight Society studio, and, finally put out a playable snapshot for fans to take a look at. Though, it did prompt a bit of backlash given The Doc’s comments about his game looking better than Modern Warfare 2, as some viewers vehemently disagreed. Plenty of hype remains around The Doc’s game, especially as he and his studio are taking feedback on board before release. Though, NICKMERCS believes it’s too early to give it too much hype. NICKMERCS urges patience with hype for Dr Disrespect’s game In his August 14 video, the FaZe Clan star was discussing the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 2, and touched on how game developers may not take feedback on board, despite running plenty of playtests. That prompted one viewer to point to Doc’s game, and how Midnight Society is doing things differently on that front. “That’s why Doc’s game is different because they’re doing that from the beginning? Listen, be careful with The Doc game gas alright? It’s so early!” Nick responded. The Twitch star joked that the game might not see the light of day until “2050,” but he’d still give it a go anyway. Timestamp of 7:16 Nick also noted that he’d be brutally honest about his pal’s game too. “If Doc’s game is trash would you be honest with him? Oh yeah,” Nick added. “If you’re in my stream, the one thing I feel you guys should know by now is that I’m brutally honest.” Obviously, the Doc’s game is a fair way off releasing in full, and we’ll likely see many changes before the likes of Nick are able to grind it for a few hours, so we’ll just have to keep an eye on things.

NICKMERCs slams Warzone 2 AI for being “too challenging” – Dexerto
NICKMERCs slams Warzone 2 AI for being “too challenging” YouTube: NICKMERCSWarzone 2’s addition of AI enemies received harsh criticism, and NICKMERCS doesn’t understand the feature’s target audience. At Warzone 2’s launch, buy stations didn’t have purchasable loadout drops. Activision introduced Strongholds as an alternate method for earning loadouts. Squads clear out AI enemies and defuse a bomb to acquire their customized weapons. Strongholds served as a replacement; however, the developers backtracked and added loadout drops back to buy stations. Community members praised the decision, but a new direction choice left the need for AI combatants in a precarious position. With players once again having the ability to purchase loadout drops, NICKMERCS questioned the necessity of AI enemies in Warzone 2. NICKMERCS slams the addition of AI: “who are you making happy?” NICKMERCS discussed his confusion over the need for AI enemies in Warzone 2. “That AI sh**, I can’t wrap my head around it. Is it because they want people who can’t get any kills to feel like they are doing something by killing a bot?” A chat member argued bots are supposed to present a challenge to getting loot, and Nick claimed it’s different “when it becomes a little bit too challenging, and most players are horrible.” The Season 1 Reloaded update decreased AI damage per bullet by 26% and cut the number of units per Stronghold site in half. However, Warzone 2 players still demand more changes as community members blame overpowered bots for ruining matches. Nick argued bots don’t benefit causal or competitive players. Casual players won’t know how to complete Strongholds or have the skill, and competitive players would rather fight real enemies than waste their time-fighting AI. “I can’t understand why it’s a necessity to have this amount of bots in the game. I understand the concept, and I’m even cool with it. But, they shouldn’t be as good as they are, and there shouldn’t be as many as there are.” To Nick and many other Warzone 2 players, The need for AI enemies is dubious, and loadout drops returning to buy stations further puts their importance in doubt.

NICKMERCS & Tfue call for cheating in video games to be “illegal” – Dexerto
NICKMERCS & Tfue call for cheating in video games to be “illegal” Pixabay/NICKMERCS/TfueTwitch stars Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney and Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff have sparked a heated debate after calling for cheating in video games to be made illegal. Cheating in video games comes in two forms: fun single-player cheats to enhance one’s own experience and nefarious multiplayer cheats such as wallhacks that make games unfun. Both Tfue and NICKMERCS have had their fair share of run-ins with cheaters in competitive games ranging from Fortnite to Warzone and Apex Legends. Now it would seem like the two have reached their tipping point. On July 31, Tfue made a post on social media advocating for new laws that would make cheating in video games a crime, and NICKMERCS was quick to chime in, voicing his agreement. “I’m in. Where do we sign?” the MFAM leader wrote, fanning the flames of the debate to come. Gamers debate making cheating “illegal” Following NICKMERCS’ remark, Minnesota Rokkr content creator Rasim ‘Blazt’ Ogresevic pushed for those found guilty to get life in prison with no parole and just one hour of light a day. “Agree completely, I have so much resentment for anyone who does it that ISN’T 11 years old and knows better,” Apex Streamer Rogue replied with similar sentiments. “And the fact we have 18-30-year-olds doing it…” Not everyone voiced the same opinion, however. Some felt that making cheating illegal would punish cheaters too heavily while others wanted politicians to deal with matters other than video games. Agree completely, I have so much resentment for anyone who does it that ISN’T 11 years old and knows better. — Rogue (@TTrebb) August 1, 2022 And the fact we have 18-30 year olds doing it… “More important things going on in the world than worrying about who’s getting more kills than you in Warzone, I’m afraid,” one user wrote. More important things going on in the world than worrying about who’s getting more kills than you in Warzone im afraid — Christian (@MrCCockayne) August 1, 2022 Interestingly, in Soth Korea, cheaters have been sentenced to prison for cheating in video games with hack distributors facing fines up to $43,000 or 5 years of jail time. As for politicians debating the cheating issue, it’s definitely not off the table if recent history is anything to go by. Last month, US politician Ted Cruz agreed to discuss video game microtransactions with Twitch star Asmongold, so it’s possible that Tfue and NICKMERCS’ hacker dilemma won’t fall on deaf ears.

NICKMERCS reveals his own Apex Legends Ranked mode is coming – Dexerto
NICKMERCS reveals his own Apex Legends Ranked mode is coming Twitch streamer and Apex Legends Global Series competitor Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff has announced he is launching his own ranked league. NICKMERCS has perhaps been more well-known to the gaming world as a content creator and streamer than as an esports athlete. Catapulting to success through streaming popular games of Fortnite, Warzone, and more recently Apex Legends. Last year the FaZe member made the decision to try and compete in the ALGS, Respawn’s Apex Legends esports league. Just a few days ago Nick was knocked out of the ALGS last chance qualifier, which came after an impressive losers bracket tournament run where his squad ultimately placed 11th. He and his team have still not had much success in the pro scene, having only competed under the team name ‘Tripods‘ with long-serving teammates Deeds and Gent. Why has he decided to create his own league and ranked system? The announced league is the result of frustrations with how the game has changed over time, with fellow players highlighting the flaws with the game itself and its ranked system which is claimed to be too easy to rank up and not competitive. Nick while live on Twitch jokes: “It is a little selfish man I need something to play”, he goes on to highlight unless you’re a new player, such as CoD legend Scump who has become recently “addicted” to the game, then it’s not enjoyable. Taking it into his own hands, he announced he has been working on a ranked mode equivalent behind the scenes. “I can’t do this anymore man they won’t give us a rank mode that we deserve so we’re gonna figure it out”, he says. He goes on to express his excitement for developing an improved ranked system as well as a “small league” that both aspiring Apex esports players and NICKMERCS fans can enjoy either watching or playing. A launch date has not yet been revealed by Nick, however, once further details and release dates are announced we will keep you updated. In the meantime, check out all things Apex here.

NICKMERCS praises XDefiant for feature Call of Duty has abandoned – Dexerto
NICKMERCS praises XDefiant for feature Call of Duty has abandoned FaZe Clan / UbisoftNICKMERCS has praised XDefiant for a simple create-a-class feature that Call of Duty made famous, before abandoning it entirely in later entries. Call of Duty’s weapon systems over the past few years have become increasingly complex, ever since Activision moved on from Black Ops 3 and restarted the Modern Warfare series. The primary change being the availability of countless attachments for each weapon. Ubisoft’s new FPS, XDefiant, has finally been released and the one thing that immediately caught NICKMERCS’ attention is limiting weapons to five attachments. A popular streamer in the Call of Duty space, Nick explained that he likes how Ubisoft has implemented this feature, calling it his “favorite thing” about the game in his May 21 livestream. “When you’re making your classes, you got 5 attachments. I love that. I missed that man,” said the competitive streamer, who is signed with FaZe Clan. XDefiant using the five-attachment system makes it much more simplified than Call of Duty, as Nick believes Activision’s shooter has become increasingly “complicated.” Call of Duty’s overabundance of attachments can make it difficult for players to choose the best options for their loadouts, as understanding the tiny variations and nuances of each can be very confusing. For example, to counter a simple recoil control in CoD, you get a variety of grips to choose from. This extends to Warzone as well. On top of this, other attachments like barrels and suppressors will also impact recoil. In XDefiant, the simplified approach makes setting up and testing out different loadouts a much faster process, ideal for jumping in and finding your feet right away. While we have got you covered with our best loadouts in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 guide, NICKMERCS has praised XDefiant for not overcomplicating things – such that you might not need such lengthy guides to know what to use.

NICKMERCS divides opinion declaring Apex Legends is the best BR – Dexerto
NICKMERCS divides opinion declaring Apex Legends is the best BR Twitch: NICKMERCSNICKMERCS took to his Twitter page to claim that Apex Legends is the “best” battle royale currently available, and his community is divided as to whether or not he’s right. Back in August, Twitch viewers witnessed a massive change as the platform’s biggest streamers made the switch over to Apex Legends due to the ongoing problem with hackers on Warzone. Shortly afterwards, NICKMERCS admitted that he’s addicted to Apex and had no plans to return to the CoD BR. Since the beginning of his “addiction,” the leader of the MFAM has been critical of the game, calling for various nerfs and even requesting that it entirely re-work its ranked mode. On October 26, the FaZe Clan co-owner expressed his current opinion of Apex, stating it’s the “best” battle royale available. However, his community is divided on whether or not they agree with him. The BEST Battle Royale out right now is Apex Legends. Having that successful ranked mode to grind makes such a difference. New map on the way too, it’s hot 🥵 — FaZe Nickmercs (@NICKMERCS) October 26, 2021 NICKMERCS divides opinion on Apex Shortly after NICKMERCS posted his controversial opinion on Twitter, his community and other streamers started sharing their thoughts, as well. 100 Thieves Co-owner ‘CouRage’ and 100T content creator NiceWigg were quick to agree with the MFAM leader. “Yup. It’s not even close,” said CouRage in a reply. The YouTube Gaming star recently hit the highest rank on Apex Legends, but not without claims that he was carried by professional players. 100 Thieves streamer NiceWigg replied: “Always knew you had great taste in games.” However, there are quite a few fans of the Twitch streamer that seem to think otherwise. One user on Twitter claims that “Apex is a little kids game,” and that “There isn’t a game out there that beats warzone.” Apex is a little kids game @NICKMERCS thats why youve lost a lot of follows coz all we wanna see is warzone there isnt a game out there that beats warzone fact — Allan Standing (BIG AL) (@allan91415493) October 26, 2021 Another reply claims that NICKMERCS is suffering from “Warzone Fatigue” and “when the new [Warzone] map comes out, you’ll be all over it.” You just have warzone fatigue…but when the new map comes out you will be all over it like a rash. — Paul Mac (@chiefmackers) October 26, 2021 The creator has gone on record before stating that when the new Warzone map comes out, he’s going to check it out, but he won’t return to it full time. Only time will tell the true answer, but this tweet makes us think he has no plans on leaving Apex.

NICKMERCS hits back at “low key mad” viewers criticizing his move away from Warzone – Dexerto
NICKMERCS hits back at “low key mad” viewers criticizing his move away from Warzone Activision / YouTube: NICKMERCSTwitch streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff made waves when he pivoted away from Call of Duty: Warzone, and has now addressed concerns from his audience over leaving the battle royale behind. Faze Clan content creator NICKMERCS cut his teeth with Gears of War, Halo, and Fortnite back in the day. Now, his skills are best utilized within Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale, Apex Legends. However, leaving behind Call of Duty wasn’t a decision that was made lightly, and his fans continue to pine for his return. Now, the streamer had spoken out in regards to concerns from long-time fans. NICKMERCS speaks about “horrible” Call of Duty with fans During his January 14 stream, NICKMERCS reminisced about Call of Duty with fans he’d met in real life after purchasing a new vehicle. “They’re both mad at me, chat, because I don’t play Call of Duty anymore!” explained the streamer. “They’re both mad, but like low-key mad. They both said they wish I played CoD, but they understand,” Nick elaborated on the opinion of his fans. The content creator asked them if they still enjoyed Call of Duty too, as they pined for Nick’s return: “I went okay, but do you guys play CoD? And they said yeah, but it’s f**king horrible!” What started out as a lighthearted interaction, led to NICKMERCS taking on the subject matter in a more serious manner. “That’s all of you guys though,” he continued. Every one of you guys, on social, you say ‘I’m so f**king mad you don’t play Call of Duty anymore’. Then I say ‘do you play Call of Duty?’ and then they’re like ‘yeah’, I’m like ‘are you having fun?’ they’re like ‘f**k no’ and I’m like what the f**k then man? Why are you mad at me? Now I know what that conversation is like in-person.” Warzone hasn’t had the greatest track record in recent times, as the game’s experience is damaged by an obscene amount of bugs and glitches. Nick has stated before that he thinks that Warzone is on the decline, as players hope the game returns to its former glory. For the foreseeable future, you can catch the FaZe star in the tropical vistas of Apex Legends.

NICKMERCS claims Warzone is “not looking good” compared to Fortnite – Dexerto
NICKMERCS claims Warzone is “not looking good” compared to Fortnite Epic Games / YouTube, more NICKMERCS / Infinity WardFrom Fortnite to Call of Duty: Warzone and back, NICKMERCS is as experienced in both battle royales as anyone. After jumping back into Epic Games’ iteration, he claims the third-person shooter has a serious edge over Warzone right now. [jwplayer 91I9RIGm] In a long overdue Fortnite return stream with SypherPK, another battle royale maestro, FaZe Clan and MFAM’s Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff got back into the groove and decided it was time to compare his favorite BR titles. Of course, with so many followers, the MFAM audience deserves an explanation for the change in content. While the popular streamer built his following in Epic Games’ unique title, his Twitch following grew to a whopping 4.6 million followers with thanks to months spent popping off on Verdansk. Having hosted, participated, and won Warzone tournaments in that span, he’s flown into the world’s top 15 most-followed Twitch streamers. But, with Call of Duty’s sights set on the Black Ops Cold War release, Warzone has lost some lustre and NICKMERCS has returned to the consistently-updated Fortnite. Fittingly, he proceeded to explain that those updates give Fortnite an edge over Warzone. It took Nick some time to get used to Fortnite’s mechanics, as he and SypherPK delved into the differences between the two games’ aim assists and how exponential and linears differ between the two. Ultimately, despite the discomfort upon switching over, the BR aficionado found himself loving it. To explain his intentions in trying Fortnite again, NICKMERCS minced no words: “Listen, the current state over on the Call of Duty side of things is not looking good. There was supposed to be a big update coming in December, we haven’t heard anything about that. Really not good.” And then, to contrast why Fortnite feels like the superior BR right now, he couldn’t help but give props to Epic Games’ consistent content delivery: “On the other hand, for Fortnite, there’s big-time updates and map changes right around the corner before Christmas.” Fortnite and Apex Legends follow a similar format as titles, where the game is free and updated seasonally. Warzone was Call of Duty’s successful effort to do the same, but things became complicated by BOCW’s release. Now, Warzone’s seasonal content schedule has been disrupted by Activision’s focus on selling BOCW. The company is trying to get the best of both worlds: a free battle royale’s player base with the money of an annual title like FIFA, Madden, and NBA 2K franchises. By putting their money into BOCW tournaments and content, CoD seems to have pushed NICKMERCS to return to a game that, distraction-free, is regularly putting out content.
