  • McDonald’s is bringing back Snack Wraps but there’s a catch – Dexerto

McDonald’s is bringing back Snack Wraps but there’s a catch FlickrMcDonald’s announced that they plan to release their long awaited snack wraps, but there’s a catch, leaving fans torn. Fans of McDonald’s will recall when the chain decided to remove their beloved snack wraps from menus. After 10 long years, 2016 saw the lunchtime snack’s early demise. Apparently, the reasoning behind the products removal was that it was simply too complicated to make in such a fast paced environment. Now, though, things are about to change. Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA commented on the chain’s menu expansion. “(We) plan to offer McCrispy in nearly all markets around the world by the end of 2025, and to expand McCrispy into wraps and tenders. With this in mind, the McCrispy Wrap might not be exactly like the Snack Wrap, but it’s about as close to the former menu item as fans are likely to get.” Fans not sure how to feel about return of Snack Wraps After a popular food blogger shared the news on Instagram, people were torn about the possible return of Snack Wraps to menus. One commented: “Awesome!!! But knowing McDonald’s they’ll be $5 each now,” relating to the exponential price increases in fast food establishments. It’s safe to say that everyone was excited to see their favorite treat return, however, there was a collective concern over the launch’s time frame. “2025? We’re gonna be extinct by then.” “so what the f**k are they waiting for?” another asked. One commenter stated sarcastically, “Yayyyy. Next up – the fried apple pie is coming back in 2027… stay tuned.” There are some treats that fast food fans can get their hands on in December, however, as some of the biggest chains are currently offering an array of festive items.

  • McDonald’s is bringing back iconic Halloween buckets but fans aren’t thrilled – Dexerto

McDonald’s is bringing back iconic Halloween buckets but fans aren’t thrilled Unsplash: augustinfotoMcDonald’s fans are ‘booing’ the return of its collectible Halloween buckets, slamming the new design as a “downgrade.” Many McDonald’s customers aren’t too thrilled by this year’s Boo Buckets, expressing their frustration over the redesign of the fast food chain’s collectible Halloween buckets. According to an Instagram post from food news account Snackolator, the lineup includes four different bucket designs, but rather than showcasing four distinct Halloween characters, each bucket features a slightly altered version of a yellow-eyed monster. Last year’s designs included “Skeleton Orange,” “Mummy White,” “Vampire Purple,” and “Monster Green.” In contrast, this year’s buckets come in blue, green, orange, and white, each adorned with its own unique monster illustration on the front. The 2024 Boo Buckets don’t come with lids like they used to, but they now feature the McDonald’s Golden Arches on the handles, a change from the 2023 design where the handles matched the color of each bucket. In the caption of their post, Snackolator noted that McDonald’s revealed this 2024 lineup in another country, so the design might still differ for U.S. locations. However, fans are worried that this could be the final look for this year’s Boo Buckets, and have flooded the comments with criticism over the redesign. “Yuck, downgrade. Also, can we get a real lid,” one person wrote. “I think you all misunderstood why we liked the boo buckets lol, we like the nostalgia,” another critic said. “Boooooooooo. And not the spooky kind,” a third added, while another commented: “These are cute but nowhere near as cute or iconic as the originals or even last year’s.” As stated by Snackolator, fans can expect the collectible Boo Buckets to arrive at their local McDonald’s around October 14, or a few days later.

  • McDonald’s iconic Grimace Shake has returned but there’s a catch – Dexerto

McDonald’s iconic Grimace Shake has returned but there’s a catch McDonald’sMcDonald’s Grimace Shake had social media in a chokehold after celebrating the iconic monster’s birthday in 2023. Now, Grimace is back with a catch. The purple monster became an internet sensation after McDonald’s released a limited-time ‘Grimace birthday meal’ to celebrate his alleged birthday on June 12. With in-depth lore and filthy memes taking over during Grimace’s reign, the fast-food chain capitalized on the monster via multiple collaborations, from “ugly” Christmas sweaters to a Game Boy Color-style game. Now, nearly a year later, Grimace is back — well, the Grimace shake to be specific. McDonald’s announced via Instagram that Grimace had returned with a cheeky post showcasing the monster’s passport alongside a cursed video. However, for those excited to get their hands on Grimace’s mystery drink, there is a catch. The shake will only be returning to launch in Canada. McDonald’s Canadian X account (formerly known as Twitter) has already prepared to welcome the purple monster with a hilarious cover photo showcasing a billboard with Grimace plastered on top. “Grimace if [you’re] reading this come back we miss [you],” the account’s bio reads, their profile picture of the golden arches now featuring a light purple background and Grimace-shaped silhouette. Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s Canada said, “When the Grimace Shake dropped for our neighbors to the south, the response we got from fans here in Canada was overwhelming… Inspired by the sheer creativity and passion we saw for the Grimace Shake, we had to bring it to Canadian menus.” This means that fans in the US will need to pull out their passports (just like Grimace) and book a holiday, with the shake set to sell from various McDonald’s locations across Canada from May 14. But be sure to book your tickets fast, for the purple shake will only be available for a limited time.

  • McDonald’s ice cream machines may no longer be broken if U.S. Government has its way – Dexerto

McDonald’s ice cream machines may no longer be broken if U.S. Government has its way Unsplash: Elijah Ekdahl / McDonald’sThe FTC and DOJ are hoping to put an end to McDonald’s longstanding reputation of broken soft-serve ice cream machines. Restaurant chain McDonald’s is famously known for having its soft-serve ice cream machines break down, to the point that employees have even used this reputation as a means to avoid extra work. However, that may no longer be the case if the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) antitrust division have their way. In a letter to the U.S. Copyright Office, the FTC and DOJ called for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to allow for exemptions when it comes to “commercial soft-serve machines.” Currently, the Act only allows technicians licensed by the maker of McDonald’s ice cream machines to perform digital repairs, making it more difficult for franchise owners to fix breakdowns. Under Section 1201 of the Act, repairing your own device can be considered a copyright violation — something the FTC and DOJ want to change. “In the Agencies’ view, renewing and expanding repair-related exemptions would promote competition in markets for replacement parts, repair, and maintenance services, as well as facilitate competition in markets for repairable products,” the letter reads. The letter goes on to state that breakdowns can lead to sales losses of up to $625 per day as “there are long wait times for authorizer repairs.” On top of this, “a licensed repair technician charges over $300 per 15 minutes.” “In each case, an exemption would give users more choices for third-party and self-repair and would likely lead to cost savings and a better return on investment in commercial and industrial equipment,” the letter stated. If the exemption is granted, McDonald’s customers may no longer need to worry about whether their ice cream needs will be met.

  • McDonald’s hit by massive global error making it impossible to order – Dexerto

McDonald’s hit by massive global error making it impossible to order Daily MailMcDonald’s systems in several countries around the globe have been hit by a massive system error, making it impossible for customers to order food. And nobody knows when it will be fixed. On Friday, March 15, McDonald’s systems around the world were facing errors, meaning that customers couldn’t order in-store, at the drive-thru or via the McDonald’s app. Certain countries got their systems up and running after several hours, while some were forced to close due to prolonged issues. It is unclear when systems will be back up and running McDonald’s branches around the world were making social media posts about the outage, with McDonald’s Japan posting on X, “Operations are temporarily out at many of our stores nationwide.” They called it “a system failure” and apologized for the inconvenience. McDonald’s HQ also put out a message saying that this was not a cyber security issue and that it was being dealt with. Whilst some stores were able to reboot their systems and get them working again, others were unable to take any orders at all and had to go old school by writing down orders on paper and telling the staff in the kitchen what to cook. McDonald’s employees in the US were posting that they couldn’t clock on so were sent home from work. It is not clear what countries have been fixed or are still being affected, but according to 2023 data released by the company, McDonald’s could lose up to $29 million an hour if they are unable to take any orders across the globe. Although countries like the UK, Australia and New Zealand were able to fix their issues in within a few hours, many branches across the US, Asia and Europe, continued to be affected and with McDonald’s having made no direct announcements as to what went wrong, it is unclear when systems will be back up and running again. If you were thinking about getting a Big Mac on your lunch break, you might just have to settle for another fast food chain instead.

TikTok: @emma.es36McDonald’s has set TikTok ablaze with a new Hello Kitty Bucket, with everyone clamoring to get one. Here’s what you need to know about them. If you’ve been scrolling through TikTok of late, you may have come across a slew of videos featuring a Hello Kitty bucket. The original video was shared by the TikTok account, ‘Only Sanrio Content.’ It made a resurgence this month, and became the talk of the town. In the video, we see a McDonald’s worker unwrapping a plastic bucket shaped like the famous Sanrio character’s head. They then go ahead and put fries and a beverage inside the bucket, before clipping the handle that closes the bucket, allowing customers to carry it around. The buckets have since gone viral, with many customers sharing their own Hello Kitty Bucket. How can I get a Hello Kitty Bucket? Fans were eager to get their hands on the Hello Kitty bucket, asking: “Where do I get this!?” and “I need it so badly.” Many were disappointed to find that the buckets weren’t being sold at their local McDonald’s, and asked when they’d be available in the US. McDonald’s have yet to address demands for the bucket’s return. Fans can, however, find some on Ebay, which are currently being sold over there.

  • McDonald’s testing a new twist on McCrispy but only for a limited time – Dexerto

McDonald’s testing a new twist on McCrispy but only for a limited time McDonald’sWhen it comes to chicken-based items at McDonald’s, few are able to rival the McCrispy Sandwich, and the chain has announced that they’re putting a new spin on this fan favorite for a very limited time. The McCrispy Sandwich was first introduced in 2021, and was initially branded the “Crispy Chicken Sandwich.” The product followed Popeyes’ viral chicken sandwich that caused a feud among fast food chains. Since its arrival three years ago, it’s become a standout menu item, and a favorite for many customers. Some good news has followed on from the product’s popularity, as McDonald’s are now testing a brand new item modeled after the iconic sandwich. McCrispy Chicken Strips will be tested in select locations for a limited time until Sunday, July 21. They consist of the same, juicy white chicken meat used in the sandwiches, but in tender form, and also boast the same seasoned batter. You can only get the McCrispy Chicken Strips at seven McDonald’s locations in Hickory, North Carolina, priced at $4.99 for three chicken strips. According to the Fast Food Club, this is the first in a series of exciting releases from McDonald’s. They also revealed that we might see the highly anticipated Snack Wraps back on menus soon. • McDonald’s has a new ‘Big Arch’ burger that will tower over the Big Mac – Dexerto

McDonald’s has a new ‘Big Arch’ burger that will tower over the Big Mac DexertoMcDonald’s is testing a new burger in select markets that is set to make a Big Mac look like an appetizer. The burger is currently being dubbed the ‘Big Arch’ and is being tested in three international markets across the globe. Its being tested in Portugal under the name ‘Mac’s biggest star’ and in Canada as the ‘satiating burger’. McDonald’s has invented this burger to try and get it’s diners back amid higher than ever fast food inflation rates. The all-new ‘Arch Burger’ is made up of two patties, three layers of white cheddar melted cheese, a new special, “tangy” sauce, crispy onions, slivered onions, lettuce and pickles on a brioche bun with multi-colored seeds. Although there aren’t any specific details about what this burger might look or taste like, CEO Chris Kempczinski described it as a “quintessential McDonald’s burger with a twist on our iconic, familiar flavors.” The burgers are being tested until the end of August, and with popular items like the spicy nuggets and snack wraps starting off as international tests, it mightn’t be long until we see this new burger on US menus. The chain has been teasing bigger burgers, more chicken, and a better coffee experience to entice customers back in 2024, and their new-and-improved burgers launched earlier this year were the start of this promise. Some McDonald’s customers were hopeful that this new burger could bring a welcome change to the already existing menu: “Compared to other chains, their menu is so stagnant and boring… then they doubled prices on the same boring menu. All they need to do is come out with potato wedges or curly fries and they would make so much money.” Other people agreed with this comment, suggesting that McDonald’s menu was not as innovative as it could be, especially since they often have exciting releases in other countries that often don’t make it to the US. However, one commenter pointed out a potential reason for this, “It’s because how HUGE McDonald’s is. Imagine how many McDonald’s are out there. One time they wanted to introduce an item that had blueberries as an ingredient but it ended up taking up the entire world’s supply of blueberries to put it on their menu.” “If they release a new item, it has to be able to be made with already existing common ingredients they use.” If you want to try a new fast food burger sooner, Sonic has just released their most premium burger yet for a surprisingly low price.

  • McDonald’s has a museum and it’s going viral on TikTok – Dexerto

McDonald’s has a museum and it’s going viral on TikTok FlickrIf you want to take a deep dive into McDonald’s long legacy, then a visit to a museum where the chain first originated might be on the menu. In a video that’s gained over 200,000 views, TikToker Norbert, who regularly posts content about tourist locations that aren’t widely known about, showed the world’s first unofficial McDonald’s museum. Though it’s not actually a museum in the traditional sense of the word, it is located at the chain’s first-ever McDonald’s restaurant that opened in the 1940s. It’s situated in San Bernardino, California, and it looks a little different from other McDonald’s locations you might have come across. In the video, we can see the McDonald’s location isn’t actually a restaurant at all. Instead, it’s been turned into a fully fledged museum, complete with life-size statues of some of the chain’s most iconic characters, including Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar. The museum contains an extensive array of McDonald’s memorabilia, including news articles, photographs, menus, straws, cups, an old ketchup dispensing gun, a vintage copy of the McDonald’s menu, and much more. The museum also features Happy Meal toys from years gone by. People can look through some vintage items from their childhood, like the Sonic video games, and the ever-popular McNugget buddies. As well as this, the museum also holds old employee workwear, so you can check out what the brand’s uniform looked like in different decades. The McDonald’s museum is open to the public every day of the week from 10 am to 5 pm, so if you happen to be driving by, make sure to check it out. This isn’t the only McDonald’s location that’s going viral this June. Another TikToker took to the platform to document her visit to the first-ever McDonald’s McMansion.

McDonald’s has already got people talking this year, as back in May, it revealed that it would be updating its classic Happy Meal with some brand-new items. Creating the biggest menu shake-up since 1979, McDonald’s added chicken nuggets, two veggie dippers, five fish bites, or a chicken mayo sandwich to its UK menu. US customers were left hoping that the new items would make their way overseas. Now, there’s a new Happy Meal offering that’s leaving people envious, as McDonald’s Italy is giving away a free beach towel with the children’s box meal. In a video uploaded by TikToker @colonelsanders69, they filmed themselves entering a McDonald’s in Italy and ordering one of the Happy Meals there. The beach towel they got was big enough for a full-grown adult and featured a cartoon image of some french fries complete with the McDonald’s logo on them. The beach towels have since gone viral, with someone on Reddit even creating a post asking those who were travelling to Italy if they’d “Please bring back a promotional McDonald’s beach towel to NYC!” Many commenters underneath the video were eager to grab one themselves, writing: “Do I know anyone going to Rome soon?!?!? The latest to suffer from a crypto hack is one of the most iconic fast food restaurants – McDonald’s – and the restaurant briefly lost access to its Instagram page on August 21, 2024. McDonald’s has since regained access to its page, but not without news of the hack making its way across social media. Shared by Unusual Whales on X, the hacker briefly advertised a Grimace crypto coin that they used to allegedly scam unsuspecting fans out of $700,000. McDonald’s Instagram bio was updated by the person behind the scheme. It read: “Sorry you have just been rug pulled by India_X_Kr3w thank you for the $700,000 in Solana.” This is just the latest major account to be taken over by scammers. On August 19, 2024, tech YouTuber Linus Tech Tips had its main Twitter/X account hijacked. Linus revealed how it happened in an episode of the WAN Show, explaining that they were the victim of an email scam. While at a pool party, the YouTuber received an email claiming that the account was accessed in Russia and quickly raced to lock it down. The email was fake, however, and after Linus used a link to log into his account – the scammers were able to take over full access. It’s unknown exactly how McDonald’s fell victim to the same fate, but it goes to show how convincing some email scams are and how even the slightest distraction can cause massive headaches. Now that they have control of the account, the popular Big Mac restaurant can go back to advertising its YuGiOh x Hello Kitty Happy Meal collab and its super popular Collector’s cups.

  • McDonald’s finally brings back fan-favorite McFlurry, but it’s not easy to get – Dexerto

McDonald’s finally brings back fan-favorite McFlurry, but it’s not easy to get TikTok: @missvancityfoodieMcDonald’s has gone viral after announcing the return of a popular but discontinued McFlurry option – but it won’t be easy to get, depending on where you are. McDonald’s has finally brought back its special Confetti Cookie Dough McFlurry from last year – but, sadly for those in the US, Europe, or beyond, it’s only for Canadian customers. Described as “smooth vanilla soft serve blended with colorful candy confetti and cookie dough, swirled together for a cool and creamy dessert,” the sweet treat has always proven to be a fan favorite. Food blogger snackolator, who shared the news, said, “I’m feeling a wide range of emotions here in the US about not getting this one here.” Many commenters shared similar sentiments, with one writing: “This settles it – time for a trip up north.” “Please stop showing stuff the US can’t get,” another said, followed by a crying emoji. Some weren’t so convinced though, declaring: “You Americans get the orange cream Wendy’s Frosty, I’d gladly trade the McFlurry for that.” It’s understandable why US customers would be jealous, as there are currently only two flavors on offer – Oreo or M&M. One thing that McDonald’s fans can look forward to worldwide is the brand’s most delicious burger ever, which will be released in the near future. Set to be an absolute game changer, the new burger will include: Beef patties: The patties will get a tighter sear on the grill, resulting in a juicier and tastier burger. – Grilled onions: New processes include adding white onions to the grill on top of the patties while they cook for an authentic grilled flavor and crispy texture. – Meltier cheese: Hotter beef patties guarantee that the cheese oozes over the sides, creating an even smoother texture. – Fresher lettuce: Crispy shredded iceberg lettuce straight from the fridge will add that fresh crunch. – Softer buns: The burger buns will now be made to a brioche-style recipe so that they are even softer with a slightly sweet flavor. And of course, they’ll be freshly toasted to order. – It’s not just the Confetti Cookie Dough McFlurry making US fans jealous, either. In April, McDonald’s announced that they are collaborating with Lotus Biscoff to create a dreamy sensation, but only for their restaurants in India.

That’s just scientific experimentation.” Said another. “Looks like a terrible idea…” said another, before going on to admit they “would eat” some of Istook’s McDonald’s recipe hacks. “I don’t think it would be good, and it takes WAY too much effort to make…. but I’d try it.” Agreed another.

  • McDonald’s fans shocked by ad you can literally smell – Dexerto

McDonald’s fans shocked by ad you can literally smell McDonald’s NLMcDonald’s in the Netherlands launched an ad campaign that smells like their fries and passersby couldn’t believe their noses. You’re used to seeing billboards advertising food from fast food chains with photos and graphics, but have you ever smelt a billboard? McDonald’s in the Netherlands created blank red or yellow billboards that gave no visual clues about what was being advertised. The only thing the billboards did was waft the familiar smell of McDonald’s fries throughout the street. The billboards were seen in three locations in the Netherlands and were placed strategically within 200 yards of a McDonald’s store, so that smellers could satisfy their cravings brought on by the familiar scent. Fans were amazed by this advertising idea, and under McDonald’s YouTube advertisement explaining the process for the campaign, people commented that this would be: “Perfect when you roll off the night train at 7 am on a Sunday.” Another person said: “Wish I had a Netherlands McDonald’s near me in the USA… The love that goes into Netherlands McDonald’s completes the experience.” The Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Netherlands explained: “McDonald’s is all about good times. We are well known for our distinctive brand assets that are mostly visual. Smell has been proven to be more effective at sparking clear and emotional memories than images. With the inclusion of this next sense in our advertising, we found a new way to remind people of good times at McDonald’s.”

  • McDonald’s fans devastated by change to US version of Hello Kitty x YuGiOh Happy Meal toys – Dexerto

McDonald’s fans devastated by change to US version of Hello Kitty x YuGiOh Happy Meal toys McDonald’sMcDonald’s long-anticipated YuGiOh x Hello Kitty Happy Meal toys have dropped in the US, but fans aren’t happy about one missing element. McDonald’s launched its limited-edition Hello Kitty x YuGiOh Happy Meal toys on August 21, and fans were going crazy over the release previously seen in Belgium in 2023. The original Happy Meal toy range contains 10 Hello Kitty and Friends plush toys dressed up as popular YuGiOh card characters, and if the Collector’s Cups are anything to go by, these toys could be gone before you know it. However, when fans in the US got their hands on these collectibles, they noticed one thing missing that left them feeling disappointed. According to a comparison of the US and international versions shared by an X user, the stateside version only has nine toys, which means the Bad Badtz-Maru Red Eyes Black Dragon toy is unavailable. On top of that, the US toys come in bags instead of boxes, leaving their shelf-life to suffer. Many people took to the comments section to unleash their disapproval, with some noting that the missing toy was the best one. “Damn, that sucks… also the boxes are so beautiful it’s a shame they’re doing bags there”, one person mentioned. Some were even joking that one of the main characters of the original YuGiOh series, Joey Wheeler, was American, so it’s strange that the whole collection isn’t available in the US. “Not American enough” one user quipped back, with a crying emoji. Other users speculated that this could be the reason why it took so long for these toys to come to the US in the first place. “Wonder what may have caused it not to be released. Maybe that’s why there was such a delay for them to drop them,” said one. However, some people found the silver lining in the whole scenario, admitting that the lack of an extra toy means that it will be easier to collect the entire line of Hello Kitty x YuGiOh Happy Meal toys. This isn’t the only Happy Meal that people are going crazy over; BTS has teamed up with McDonald’s to launch adorable collectible figures.

  • McDonald’s fans are in love with “Cherry Blossom” springtime menu – Dexerto

McDonald’s fans are in love with “Cherry Blossom” springtime menu Instagram: @awesomejapan_A video’s been circulating Instagram of the new “Cherry Blossom” springtime menu released by McDonald’s – but how do you get it? In the new video, we were given a breakdown of some of the new items offered by the chain. The packaging is super cute, being all pink and green in color, with flowers scattered all over the wrapping paper. Unfortunately however, if you wanted to get your hands on the new collection, you might need to hop on a flight, as they’re currently only being sold at McDonald’s locations in Japan. One of the new menu items is the Temi-Tara burger, which “looks super juicy.” It consisted of “fried egg, lettuce, and mayonnaise,” along with a beef patty. There was also a Nori-Shio (seaweed and salt) Jagabata Bacon burger, which is made up of a beef patty in teriyaki sauce, fried egg, bacon, lettuce, seaweed salt, and mashed potatoes. The video’s creator, however, says that their favorite was the Shaka Shaka potatoes. They explained you get seasoning packets instead of ketchup, then shake all the fries up in a bag. Lastly, there was a Mac Float, which was a yogurt-flavored, pink drink with blossoms all over it. After the post was made, people couldn’t get over how adorable the McDonald’s release was and desperately wanted to try it. “McDonald’s in Japan is much better than in the US. The pink drink looked really good!” One commented. “Other countries get better stuff than us and we created the restaurant,” a dismayed US customer wrote followed by a series of crying emojis. “Look how cute! We are doing life all wrong here in America,” another chimed in. One commenter had a fun suggestion for McDonald’s, writing: “They should really sell them worldwide, and then make a ‘try world cuisine with McDonald’s.’ I would buy all of them (from any country).” Another international McDonald’s item is going viral, after they announced they’d be collaborating with Lotus Biscoff to create a new drink and McFlurry.

  • McDonald’s employees quit after refusing to wear new work uniforms – Dexerto

McDonald’s employees quit after refusing to wear new work uniforms TIKTOK: cormac_mccabe / PIXABAYTwo McDonald’s employees have decided to hand in their notice after seeing the fast food chain’s new work uniforms. McDonald’s UK recently announced that there would be a nationwide uniform change, which would allow staff to wear more casual items of clothing like McDonald’s themed beanies, sweatpants, and bandanas. The news sparked criticism online, with many believing that the overall look’s too bland, and that it would be hard for customers to recognize staff members as they’d be wearing normal clothes. McDonald’s employees have also been left outraged by the new uniform, with some even threatening to quit their jobs over the massive change. McDonald’s workers hand in their notice after uniform change In a viral clip, TikToker Cormac (cormac_mccabe) filmed himself and his co-worker dancing down the street, with a text-ovelay reading: “Us handing in our notice after seeing that new uniform.” The two friends can be seen wearing McDonald’s visors and shirts in the current uniform style unveiled in 2017. Their polos and hats are gray with yellow trim, adorned with the Golden Arches logo. “OF making a comeback,” the TikToker wrote in the caption, suggesting that his new source of income could be OnlyFans. In the comments, many McDonald’s employees shared their thoughts on the new uniform options. “Don’t get me started I am not working in a bright yellow t-shirt,” one user wrote. “No my manager was sat in the office looking at other jobs today,” another said. “I’m not wearing it,” a third added. While most users didn’t like them, some believed that the new designs were an improvement. “Still better than the uniform I had to wear when I got the job there in 2012,” one person commented. “I don’t get it I think it looks better than the current one,” another said.

  • McDonald’s employee hospitalized after angry customers start drive-thru shootout – Dexerto

McDonald’s employee hospitalized after angry customers start drive-thru shootout Pexels: Robi PastoresA teenaged McDonald’s employee was hospitalized after an angry customer shot him with a pistol during a dispute over their order at the drive-thru. It’s no secret that fast food can bring out the worst in people. From ‘Karens’ melting down over getting “too much ketchup” on their burgers to customers being outright ignored at drive-thrus, there have been a number of infamous fast food incidents that have taken social media by storm. However, the latest drama stemming from a fast food dispute is dropping jaws all over the internet after a McDonald’s employee was sent to the hospital. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, March 16, when a 17-year-old employee was taking an order at a McDonald’s drive-thru located in Nashville, Tennessee. McDonald’s employee hospitalized after shootout over order According to statements from other workers, a red Chevrolet sedan pulled up to the drive-thru window to pay for their order when an argument broke out between the customers inside the car and the teen employee. The disgruntled customers reportedly claimed that they’d been charged too much for their order. Things escalated when one of the passengers in the back pulled out a pistol. In response to the firearm, the teen pulled out his own gun, and the two parties began shooting at each other through the window. The teen ended up getting injured during the shootout and was sent to the hospital, with police saying he was “critically injured” but is now in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Centre. McDonald’s has since released a statement addressing the shooting, saying they are “deeply saddened by the senseless act of violence that took place in our Dickerson Pike restaurant early this morning.” Currently, the location is cooperating with law enforcement as their investigation into the incident continues — but this is far from the first time violence has broken out at a fast food spot. Last year, a viral brawl broke out at a McDonald’s in Nova Scotia after a customer didn’t get a Pokemon card in their Happy Meal.

  • McDonald’s employee fired after being arrested on shift for violating probation – Dexerto

McDonald’s employee fired after being arrested on shift for violating probation The New York TimesA McDonald’s employee has recounted the horrifying story of how they got arrested on shift after ignoring police request to return home for violating probation. The employee claims to have taken the job whilst still on probation after being released from prison, but they weren’t sure if their manager knew this. When the employee received a call from the police and was asked to return home, their manager allegedly told them to, “go back to work” which prompted the police to come and arrest the employee on-site. Manager told the employee to “go back to work” after receiving call from the police It all started as a normal day at work for this McDonald’s employee, until they claimed that their colleague received a phone call asking if the employee on probation was on shift that day. The former employee, who shared that they had reportedly been on the run for up to five years in the past, panicked and told their manager that they were on probation and that the police were looking for them. Instead of freaking out, the manager apparently ensured the employee that they would not tell the police that this person was on shift and that they should just “go back to work” as normal. The manager even went as far as telling the employee who had answered the phone that they shouldn’t have revealed the person on probation was at work. Things escalated, though, when the employee on probation got a call from their Mom saying that the police had arrived at their house, which was a short distance from the McDonald’s store. Apparently, they were being arrested for failing three drug tests and were planning on turning themselves in at their next probation meeting. The whole incident came to a head when the employee explains that, “The police came in, four of them, three not in uniform and one with khakis and sheriff vest. They make their way to back booth and take me out the back door. I no longer have a job now.” The former employee was left feeling angry with their manager as they were reportedly told to continue their shift instead of surrender themselves to the police. The former employee states that they didn’t know they would be fired if they were arrested at work, saying, “She didn’t tell me ‘Hey if you get arrested on premises you will be terminated.’” Although it is not clear what repercussions the McDonald’s employee faced for violating their probation, they definitely experienced one of the worst days at work ever.

  • McDonald’s customers not happy with this major change to iconic McFlurry – Dexerto

McDonald’s customers not happy with this major change to iconic McFlurry McDonald’sMcDonald’s in the US has made a major change to their McFlurries that is great for the environment, but has some fans outraged. The changes include a new cardboard packaging that folds at the top to eradicate the need for a plastic cup and lid. The change that has people outraged, however, involves the iconic hollow plastic spoon, which has, spoiler alert; been nixed. McFlurries now come with a wooden spoon, and although the changes have been around for a while in the UK and Canada, these changes were brought to the US at the beginning of September, and fans are not happy. A TikTok, posted back in August when the changes first rolled out in Canada, sparked some complaints from McDonald’s fans in the comments. “The wooden spoon is something made of nightmares tho.” One user commented. “I can’t handle wooden spoons, it makes me cringe so much. I have plastic cutlery in my car.” another mentioned. People were taking things a step further, too, suggesting that they would rather go to Dairy Queen, or make their own flurries at home. This isn’t the only difference to the beloved ice cream that comes with the environmental move. The old McFlurry spoons (the hollow ones we all know and love), actually doubled as kitchen equipment, and clicked onto the ice cream mixer to make sure your toppings were evenly mixed throughout the McFlurry. Now, McFlurry toppings will simply go on top of your ice cream, meaning you have to do the work yourself with the wooden spoon. Although this may be upsetting to fans, McDonald’s stand by this change: ““Packaging updates like this matter,” Michael Gonda, SVP, Chief Impact Officer of North America for McDonald’s, said in a statement. “Not only is this a fun new way for our U.S. fans to enjoy the McFlurry; we’re also moving one step closer to fulfilling our packaging and waste commitments.” Aside from the ecological benefits, there is an upside to all of this. McFlurries will now be available in the US in mini sizes, following suit from the UK and Europe. These mini McFlurries are cheaper, have the same amount of toppings with less soft-serve, and are perfect for a light snack. The old McFlurry containers may be gone for good, but rumor has it that these popular discontinued menu items may be making a comeback soon.

  • McDonald’s customers disgusted by how chain prepares onions – Dexerto

McDonald’s customers disgusted by how chain prepares onions TikTok: tiktokhussAfter a viral video exposed how McDonald’s prepares their onions, customers aren’t so sure about their favorite chain restaurant anymore. As many know, most fast food ingredients aren’t made fresh. Sure, Wendy’s has “always fresh, never frozen” beef patties. But what about McDonald’s? Well, according to TikTok foodie Huss, McDonald’s has been exposed for using dehydrated onions instead of fresh onions. This revelation comes as a surprise to McDonald’s fans, as many have commented on Huss’ viral TikTok explainer by saying they won’t return to the chain restaurant. McDonald’s worker confirms onion preparation method Not only did McDonald’s customers get the ick after learning that the company serves dehydrated onions on their burgers, but they were also grossed out by the process of preparing the onions. To make them, McDonald’s fills a plastic container full of shriveled-up, dried onions. They then add cubes of ice and water. Before the onions sit for an allotted amount of time, a McDonald’s employee covers them with a lid so they expand into what customers will soon be served on sandwiches like their McDouble and Big Mac. After McDonald’s fans saw Huss’ TikTok video of the entire preparation process, they commented by saying they wouldn’t be eating there again, “Ok, never again.” And, “Please no.” One person even went as far as saying they tasted like “sh*t.” However, some disagreed by saying this was one of the “healthiest” options at McDonald’s, as it only consisted of onions and water. One viewer also admitted to thinking there was a line of McDonald’s employees slicing onions in the back at all times. While another who works at McDonald’s “100%” confirmed with Huss and his viewers that McDonald’s in the USA makes their onions that way.

  • McDonald’s customers are losing it over this old-school restaurant with 80s menu – Dexerto

McDonald’s customers are losing it over this old-school restaurant with 80s menu TikTok: @McdonaldsukMcDonald’s are celebrating their 50th birthday this year in the UK, and people are feeling nostalgic after seeing what the chain looked like in the 1980s. In the past five decades, the chain has gone through dramatic changes since it first opened in Woolwich, South London, back in October 1974. In a clip released by the official McDonald’s UK account on TikTok, a worker made a virtual old-school ‘Maccies,’ tour, so that people could see what it was like to order food from the iconic brand back in the 1980’s. In the tour, we see some of the staples of the chain that existed when it was still at the beginning of its popularity. They showed the super retro furniture, as well as the old school menu, that surprisingly contained a lot of the same items as you’d find today, like the Fillet O’ Fish. They also showed an old-fashioned cash register, far bulkier than the digital kind you’d find today. The chairs were also far more whimsical than the ones you get nowadays, shaped like a giant burger. There was even a section of the store designated the “hottest hangout space in town” – the children’s area where you could reserve a birthday party space. In the final part of the clip, we catch a glimpse of the employee of the month wall, where workers were rewarded for their good behavior with a plaque in their honor. “Bring back Big Mac 90s size, and those polystyrene boxes and old milkshakes!” said one comment. “Change EVERYTHING back to when it was great, burger chairs, parties, best happy meal toys,” another chimed in. But why does the establishment in the video exist in the first place? McDonald’s UK explained, writing: “(we’re) running a nostalgic 80s-themed advertising campaign and donating proceeds from the Birthday Cake Donut to Ronald McDonald House Charities UK, which is also celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.” As well as the refurbishment, McDonald’s also brought out a birthday-themed menu, which includes the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse, the Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers, Double Big Mac, Birthday Cake Donut, a Milkybar Raspberry Ripple McFlurry (white chocolate and raspberry swirl), and a Munchies Cookie Dough McFlurry.

In a video that’s gained over 370,000 views on TikTok, a McDonald’s customer named Bee found her craving the fast food restaurant’s classic ice cream at 2 AM. Unfortunately for her, what she was actually given was wholly unexpected. “Tell me why we go to McDonald’s for ice cream at 2, 3 in the morning, and [they] gave me,” Bee says before another woman in the car replies. “Ice, cream… Ice and cream?” “Like, he gave me ice cream,” Bee says. “He’s messed up,” the passenger adds. TikTokers weigh in on McDonalds ice cream fiasco After the video was posted on the platform, people were wholly confused about why Bee was given such a bizarre item following on from her simple request for ice cream. “Someone need get fired on the job,” one said, clearly unimpressed by the item. “Girl omg. This reminds me of when my friend wanted a slice of pizza so she said ‘a slice of cheese and they came out with a literal slice of Kraft cheese,” another said followed by a series of laughing emojis. “He’s probably sleepy,” another wrote, attempting to explain the server’s bizarre decision. Some, however, thought that Bee was the odd one for ordering ice cream so late, writing: “Probably because it’s 2:03 AM and you’re ordering ice cream at a McDonald’s.” Another McDonald’s customer went viral after they slammed the chain for taking McGriddles off the all-day menu.

A McDonald’s customer took to Reddit to post about a recent order they’d made at the store. We can see from the brown paper bag that their order included “5 Ketchup Packets” along with a number of other items. The whole thing seemed normal enough, but when the customer opened up the bag, they got a big surprise. As can be seen in the image they shared, the bag is loaded to the brim with ketchup packets. Instead of handing over the five ketchup packets the customer ordered, the customer claimed that they’d overloaded them: “WTF McDonald’s workers be trippin.” “Can anyone explain?” they ask at the bottom of the post. People weigh in on man’s ketchup overload Some commenters on the now-viral post were simply jealous: “I honestly would be so hype there is something about McDonald’s ketchup that I f**king adore.” “This is what I mean when I say extra ketchup,” another said jokingly. But, some McDonald’s employees wrote in, saying that this was definitely a prank: “I literally did this ketchup thing on my shift a few days ago. Anything to pass the time.” “Fast food employee here. This is the answer. One time a man came through the drive thru and asked me to make sure there was cheese on the sandwich. I asked the kitchen to make sure there was cheese on the sandwich. My coworker added half a block of cheese, if his description was accurate, purely because he was bored and thought it was funny,” another told the OP. Never again,” another stated boldly. Some McDonald’s workers even weighed in, writing: “One answer: because they’re SLOW… I worked at fast food for YEARS and it should take no longer than two mins to get food to customers.” Another worker, however, attempted to explain, by offering a policy enforced by the fast food chain: “Sensors time each car and if they stay in drive through line too long our time score goes down and we get in trouble.” “I never knew any of that! You guys always do a great job of coming out in time!” the creator answered in surprise. Another McDonald’s customer went viral, after they sued the chain, alleging that the cheese in their Big Mac almost killed them.

McDonald’s customer loses it with worker after they make him park TikTok: @dawid.outdoorA man lost it over a McDonald’s worker who told them to park up and wait for their meal at a drive-thru. Amassing over 700,00 views on TikTok, a video has gone viral after a customer got angry with a McDonald’s drive thru worker. The drive thru worker had told them that they’d need to park up before receiving their order, and this is where the whole thing blew up. “100% I’m phoning head office tomorrow. Like, you’re gonna be written up for this.” “I don’t have to park because you requested. I don’t have to park. This is a fast food. I want my food like a fast food restaurant when I want it. Right?” he also tells them that he doesn’t care if he’s backing up the line, and demands his food. In the video, the McDonald’s worker and customer eventually reach an impasse, and the customer decides they want their money back. The issue is that they originally paid by card, but wanted the refund by cash instead. Sometimes people may buy an item on stolen credit cards, and then try to gain more money by asking for cash back. This might explain what’s going on here, and why the man was so angry. People call out McDonald’s customer After the video was posted on TikTok, people couldn’t believe the customer’s behavior, with one writing: “That poor employee, I am glad she didn’t back down and not cry because I would have.” “How does someone request fresh food and get mad they have to wait,” another asked. “Why is the manager allowing this? Send the worker away and close the window with a curt, ‘I’m sorry we couldn’t work something out. Please leave.’” Another said “You paid with debit you get refund with debit,” speaking to their demand for cash. “Cancel his order. Call the cops,” one said bluntly. Another McDonald’s employee went viral in March, when they decided to quit after seeing the company’s new uniforms.

McDonald’s customer outraged after “terrible” staff ignore her at drive-thru TikTok: aliyyasakinaA McDonald’s customer explained how irritating it was being ignored in the drive-thru. Having placed an order via mobile app, TikToker Aliyya went to pick up her McDonald’s ten minutes later. After being ignored at the drive-thru window for a long time, Aliyya had little to no more patience left. That was until a security guard came to let her know what was going on. Woman waits “five minutes” at drive-thru window before being approached Aliyya recently placed a McDonald’s order for her daughter. Excited and hungry, the two were prepared to pick up and pay for the food in the drive-thru. However, when Aliyya got to the window, she was allegedly ignored for over five minutes. That’s when she started to record her encounter. Though there were employees inside the McDonald’s, not a single worker opened the drive-thru window for her. At that point, Aliyya was still under the impression that they were open, as the mobile app stated they were. Eventually, a security guard opened the window and told Aliyya, “I cannot help you. We’re closed.” In Aliyya’s now-viral TikTok, she included a text overlay to explain the situation, “They have a habit of appearing to be open but lock the doors and ignore everyone tryna order at the drive-thru.” She also went on to say that the experience was “terrible.” Aliyya wasn’t the only customer waiting to pick up a mobile app order either. Allegedly, another unhappy customer was beeping behind her who had to wait as well. It’s unknown if they were given a refund or their food. Though Aliyya was trying to “keep a cool head,” she did say she’d be sending proof of the McDonald’s staff ignoring her to someone who could assist her further.

McDonald’s customer furious over “half slice” of cheese on Filet-O-Fish TikTok: royalbentley1A McDonald’s customer called the restaurant out for falsely advertising how much cheese goes on the Filet-O-Fish. Having gone to multiple McDonald’s locations, TikToker Royal Bentley was determined to find out how much cheese was supposed to be on the Filet-O-Fish sandwich. Though the picture featured on the McDonald’s menu made it look like an entire slice of cheese was on the sandwich, Bentley experienced otherwise. Many McDonald’s workers have since reacted to Bentley’s TikTok, confirming what constitutes the right amount of cheese. McDonald’s customer calls them out for “false advertisement” When Bentley ordered in the McDonald’s drive-thru, he asked an employee if a full slice or half slice of cheese came on their Filet-O-Fish. Before he could even finish his question, the employee interrupted him and promptly said, “Half slice.” Mind you, Bentley was at a McDonald’s in the middle of Detroit, where he claimed customers were given worse service. Bentley then explained how he went to two more McDonald’s locations in the “suburbs.” There, he was allegedly given a full slice of cheese on his fish sandwich. He then went on to call McDonald’s out for “false advertisement” and demanded they give him his “damn cheese.” Since posting his now-viral TikTok, many McDonald’s workers have commented on what the right amount of cheese is. “Lol I used to be a manager. It’s true they’re only supposed to do half slice,” wrote one user. “When I worked at McDonald’s in my teens it was a half slice on filets, never understood,” said another viewer. Bentley also said he was “befuddled” by the lack of cheese on his Filet-O-Fish. He even told his viewers in the comments to go to their local McDonald’s to find out for themselves, as they too, were shocked.

McDonald’s customer furious after spotting company’s sauce policy TikTok: brymarixx / Unsplash: Brett JordanA frustrated McDonald’s customer has taken to TikTok after spotting the company enforcing their sauce policy, much to many buyer’s dismay. When ducking by a McDonald‘s drive-thru for some Chicken McNugets, choosing your sauces is an integral part of the order. But how many sauces is too many? Well, according to the fast food chain’s policy, the number of sauces per nugget has already been determined, with any extras costing the buyer more. Now, one customer has been left furious after spotting the policy being enforced, taking to TikTok to question when and why McDonald’s started limiting buyers’ sauce options. TikTok user ‘Brymarixx‘ posted a video to the platform showing a laminated sheet displayed at the McDonald’s drive-thru she was visiting. The sheet informed buyers as to how many sauces came for free with each order, which follows as: 4 nuggets = 1 sauce – 6 nuggets = 2 sauces – 10 nuggets = 3 sauces – 20 nuggets = 5 sauces – 40 nuggets = 8 sauces – “McDonald’s has chosen violence in 2024,” Brymarixx wrote. “McDonald’s we need answers!” According to viewers, however, the policy has been around for some time and is even the norm in other countries such as Canada, with one commenter writing, “Canada ….6 piece we get one sauce lol. I pay $0.50 for additional sauce.” That didn’t stop nugget lovers though from expressing their dismay at the company beginning to crack down on free sauces. One person said, “It’s honestly ridiculous and greedy considering I work at a semi-expensive restaurant and we don’t charge for extra sauce.” “The comments are filled with people who don’t love sauce the same way we do. I totally get this girl that’s way too little,” another said, backing up Brymarixx in her disappointment.

Another McDonald’s customer went viral, after they lost it over the chain’s new “sippy style” lids.

  • McDonald’s closes AI drive-thrus after trial phase – Dexerto

McDonald’s closes AI drive-thrus after trial phase FlickrMcDonald’s was one of the first to employ AI to complete drive-thru orders, but has now decided to pull the plug for the time being to reassess the technology. Over 100 McDonald’s locations will have their AI technology stripped away, and replaced with the traditional human-centered method of ordering food at the drive-thru. We’ve seen several viral videos circulating TikTok of customers testing out the new technology, resulting in some hilarious mishaps. The AI drive-thrus first made their appearance back in 2021, and featured a robotic voice that would respond to customers while taking their order. McDonald’s hasn’t given any indication as to why it’s chosen to remove automated drive-thrus, but according to Restaurant Business, the new technology will all be shut off by July 26. A McDonald’s spokesperson said that plans for automated order would be decided by the end of the year, but emphasized that “a voice-ordering solution for drive-thru will be part of our restaurants’ future”. McDonald’s isn’t the first chain to try out AI technology at its drive-thrus. A plethora of other companies including Wendy’s, Hardee’s, Carl’s Jr, and Del Taco all employ AI technology at their drive-thrus. Back in April, a customer went viral after they filmed themselves at a Wendy’s AI drive-thru. The video accumulated over 13 million views, with customers astounded to see the new technology at work. It sparked a debate though, with many feeling dubious: “We keep seeing time and time again that the only purpose of AI advancement is to reduce jobs and save money for the corporate overlords and there’s still no policies on it.” “How are we teenagers and young adults going to support ourselves?” another asked. On the other hand, many people were convinced that this was indeed the way forward, stating: “I’ve used these at a couple restaurants and it honestly understands what I’m ordering with incredible accuracy. To me, it’s an improvement.”

  • McDonald’s CEO promises to lower prices as costs spark backlash – Dexerto

McDonald’s CEO promises to lower prices as costs spark backlash Unsplash.com: Brett JordanMcDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski says the company will focus on “affordability” as complaints soar over the rising cost of the fast food chain. McDonald’s is one of the most famous fast food chains out there, boasting locations not just in America, but in many other countries around the globe. However, many Americans can’t help but notice that the once-affordable fast food behemoth is no longer a cheap meal option. For example, McDonald’s famous Dollar Menu was retired back in 2018, and some meal combos are now nearing the $20 mark in certain US locations. It’s safe to say that rising costs have sent consumers into a tizzy… but McDonald’s CEO is promising more affordable fare in the near future. McDonald’s CEO says franchise will focus on “affordability” In an earnings call on Monday, February 5, franchise CEO Chris Kempczinski said the company plans to focus on lowering its prices as low-income customers increasingly turn away from fast food in favor of eating at home. “I think what you’re going to see as you head into 2024 is probably more attention to what I would describe as affordability,” he stated. “Eating at home has become more affordable. The battleground is certainly with that low-income consumer.” However, fast food prices are still set to rise this year, with California implementing increased wages for McDonald’s employees and other chains within the state starting in April. This news follows outrage around McDonald’s pricing, with a user on Twitter/X going viral after spotting an $18 Big Mac meal combo at a rest stop in Connecticut. Now, former McDonald’s chefs are turning to TikTok to help consumers find cheaper ways of making their favorite eats at home — or at the very least, finding some less costly alternatives at the grocery store.

  • McDonald’s Canada launches new fries with a sweet twist – Dexerto

McDonald’s Canada launches new fries with a sweet twist McDonald’sMcDonald’s Canada is launching two new takes on the McShaker fries. One, is a spicy masala flavoring, and the other is a sweet churro flavoring. These ‘globally-inspired’ flavors are available to order from now until June 3, and provide an inventive twist on the iconic McDonald’s fries. McShaker fries were first launched in Hong Kong in 2005, and are part of the menu across Europe and Asia, and now they’ve landed in Canada. McShaker fries are similar to the regular McDonald’s fries but come in a large paper bag with seasoning on the side that is designed to be poured into the bag and shaken to coat the fries. In Hong Kong, you can even get them with seaweed seasoning. The masala-flavored ones that are now available in Canada come with a seasoning made up of cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, cayenne pepper, and garlic to create an authentic curry taste. The more out-there churro seasoning is packed full of cocoa, sugar, and cinnamon for a sweet twist on the classic saltiness of the fries. When a popular food blogger @snackolator announced that these were being released, McDonald’s fans in the US were begging to try these, with some people even tagging McDonald’s and asking them if they were ‘allergic to releasing good food in America.’ However, one review of these fries said that they were fun to shake, but that the masala seasoning was lacking spice, and the churro one just tasted like normal fries with a hint of sugar. McDonald’s fans are no strangers to mixing their fries with something sweet though, and people have been dipping their fries into McFlurries for years, so these ‘dessert fries’ could be a great take on that flavor combo. US McDonald’s fans do have something to be happy about, as their grandma-themed McFlurry is taking the internet by storm.

McDonald’s boss reveals surprise item that’s overtaking Big Macs McDonald’sMcDonald’s has revealed that a few items on the menu that were proving to be performing incredibly well, and they all had one thing in common – chicken. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal’s Kate Linebaugh last week at the WSJ Global Food Forum, Joe Erlinger, McDonald’s US President sat down to talk about some of the best and worst performing food items sold at the chain. One of the biggest revelations came when Erlinger revealed that salads and plant-based items were set to be scrapped from the menu. “If people really want salads from McDonald’s, we will gladly relaunch salads. But what our experience has proven is that’s not what the consumer is looking for from McDonald’s.” In addition to this, Erlinger also noted the lack of popularity surrounding the chain’s vegan McPlant, which was tested in two US locations during 2022: “I don’t think the U.S. consumer is coming to McDonald’s looking for the McPlant or other plant-based proteins.” But what about the items that are performing well? “Obviously, the bigger trend around protein consumption is really around chicken,” Erlinger stated. “We’re poised to serve that trend well,” he said. “That’s what we’re making investments in.” “Some of this protein consumption change is something that we really will have to watch,” he said. “We’ve seen that shift. We didn’t have a chicken sandwich when we launched our brand in 1955. We sell more chicken today as a brand than we sell beef.” “People change what they eat very slowly over time. So yes, we are seeing those slow changes over time. I think some of it’s driven by affordability… we know that chicken is less expensive to produce, and so for a consumer that’s looking for more affordable food, chicken is a great option right now.” It’s not just about affordability, however, as more and more fast food restaurants are clamoring to create more chicken-based dishes as a result of customers’ taste preferences. Wendy’s is one such chain, as they brought their version of chicken nuggets out in June. In order to prepare the new products, Wendy’s looked specifically to the Gen-Z demographic, and according to the results, “what they want to eat protein-wise [is] chicken, chicken, chicken,” said Wendy’s Global Vice President of Culinary Innovation, John Li. This is true according to a survey conducted by Piper Sandler, who found that Chick-fil-A was the most popular restaurant among teens. He said that Wendy’s “already own[s] bacon and … fresh, never-frozen beef,” but there was room to improve surrounding their chicken offerings. Even Burger King is now looking to chicken-based offerings, releasing flame-grilled chicken burgers in test markets.

  • McDonald’s boss explains why salad and McPlant won’t be returning – Dexerto

McDonald’s boss explains why salad and McPlant won’t be returning FlickrMcDonald’s US President Joe Erlinger has revealed why the McPlant and salad have been officially scrapped from menus across the States. McDonald’s has seen a lot of success throughout 2024 with its $5 meal deal. The new bargain features a choice of a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, Small fries, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, and a small soft drink. The new value meal was released in an effort to combat the exponential rise of fast food prices, and to make dining out more accessible for customers. But there are two McDonald’s items that haven’t witnessed the same success. McDonald’s US President Joe Erlinger said during the WSJ Global Food Forum that salads won’t be returning to the menu due to a lack of demand from customers. “If people really want salads from McDonald’s, we will gladly relaunch salads,” Erlinger said. “But what our experience has proven is that’s not what the consumer is looking for from McDonald’s.” In addition to this, Erlinger also noted the lack of popularity surrounding the chain’s vegan McPlant, which was tested in two US locations during 2022: “I don’t think the U.S. consumer is coming to McDonald’s looking for the McPlant or other plant-based proteins.” This lack of interest is corroborated by a report conducted by Mintel, which showed that the plant-based meat market shrunk by 3.6% in 2023. There are some items at McDonald’s however, that continue to surge in popularity. The McDonald’s french fries are a signature item at the chain, proving to be incredibly difficult to replicate in other fast food joints. McDonald’s sells over 9 million pounds of fries per day, making them the most popular menu item sold by the company. If you’re curious about some of the most popular McDonald’s items internationally, we’ve compiled a list of the 15 top foods that have US customers feeling like they’re missing out.

  • McDonald’s Big Mac record holder breaks another milestone at 70 – Dexerto

McDonald’s Big Mac record holder breaks another milestone at 70 Guinness World RecordsA 70-year-old man has shocked people worldwide, after celebrating another McDonald’s milestone that’s breaking records. A US man has extended his record for the most McDonald’s Big Macs eaten in a lifetime. Don Gorske, who is now 70 years of age, gained the Guinness world title back in 1999 for his love of Big Macs, and now he’s extended it after eating a further 728 Big Macs according to the award company. This means that he’s eaten over 34,000 Big Macs. He achieved his groundbreaking Big Mac fame as a result of eating nine Big Macs each day, but to maintain his health, he’s recently cut these numbers down. Now, Gorske only eats two Big Macs daily – one for lunch, and one for dinner. What Gorske had to say about Big Mac milestone When Gorske was asked about his achievements, he said that many people couldn’t actually believe he wasn’t dead. “Many people thought I’d be dead by now, but instead, I’ve been a record holder for my 24th year — one of Guinness World Records’ longer-running record holders, so that’s pretty cool to me,” the 70-year-old says. Gorske, who is a retired prison officer, has been eating Big Macs since the 1970s when he first tried one. Despite this, he says: “People who have watched me eating a Big Mac often comment that I look like I’m eating one for the very first time. “At that moment, I said: ‘I’m going to probably eat these for the rest of my life.’ I threw the cartons in the back seat and started counting them from day one.” In other McDonald’s news, a customer went viral after they raged at workers at the drive-thru who told them to park up.

  • McDonald’s Big Arch review: Is this behemoth of a burger better than the Big Mac? – Dexerto

McDonald’s Big Arch review: Is this behemoth of a burger better than the Big Mac? McDonald’s biggest burger yet, the Big Arch, has debuted in Canada, and we got a chance to try it. Fast food enthusiasts are in luck, because this is one tasty burger. During a July earnings call, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski began teasing the Big Arch as the chain’s “quintessential” new item. For a while now, McDonald’s has been testing the Big Arch in select markets – and on August 27, the company fully released the burger in Canada. “The Big Arch was designed as McDonald’s response to guests’ desire for a burger that satisfies the extra-hungry,” the chain said in a press release. “We have heard our guests loud and clear and understand they are looking for a bigger burger on our menu, and we are excited to bring this new global menu item to Canadians.” Big Arch Review At first glance, it’s easy to see why a lot of the discussion about the Big Arch stems from comparisons to McDonald’s iconic Big Mac. Just like the Big Mac, the Big Arch features two meat patties and its own unique sauce, appropriately named the ‘Big Arch sauce.’ The burger also comes with lettuce, pickles, onions, and crispy onions, not to mention three slices of white processed cheese. The Big Arch is large, too. Taking the first bite of this beast was certainly better with two hands to hold onto it with. It’s not quite as big as say, a Whopper from Burger King, but it has much more height to it. While a lot of limited-time menu items have a gimmick like a unique crossover or some interesting flavor, you can tell the Big Arch is designed to be a permanent staple at McDonald’s alongside the Quarter Pounder and McDouble. The cheese, sauce, and crispy onions all come together nicely for a taste that honestly just screams ‘McDonald’s.’ It’s yummy, no bones about it. You could blindfold someone, give them a Big Arch, and they should have no trouble telling you where this burger is from. Okay, now on to the big question: How does it compare to the Big Mac? Honestly, it stacks up. I think it’s a strong addition to the menu and, if anything, surpasses the Quarter Pounder while being on par with the Big Mac. Some people will strongly prefer that extra bun in a Big Mac. Others will be big fans of the three pieces of cheese on the Big Arch. In any case, it’s definitely worth trying, and I’ll certainly be ordering one again. It’s not the best burger I’ve ever had – that honor goes to Gordan Ramsay Burger’s Hell’s Kitchen burger with Wagyu, but for a fast food chain, the Big Arch satisfies and then some. The Verdict – 4/5 McDonald’s succeeds in what it sets out to do by adding a bigger burger to the menu. This item is truly ‘McDonald’s’ to its core and delivers with its uniquely yummy taste. It’s absolutely worth trying and I can’t wait for the inevitable spin-offs and limited-edition variants in the years to come.

  • McDonald’s begin trialing new Happy Meal with never before seen menu items – Dexerto

McDonald’s begin trialing new Happy Meal with never before seen menu items Reddit / McDonald’sMcDonald’s is rolling out a new trial with the biggest Happy Meal shake-up in 38 years since it first launched in 1979, but not everyone can get them. The new menu proposal features three brand new items, as well as a fan-favorite making its return to the fun-size meal pack. Happy Meals are obviously geared towards children but are also a great option if you’re craving McDonald’s and don’t want to break the bank or go overboard on your calories. Starting May 29, McDonald’s will begin trialing the new and improved Happy Meal in locations across the North West of England and some in Ireland. These Happy Meals will be available with a choice of four chicken nuggets, two veggie dippers, five fish bites, or a chicken mayo sandwich. Instead of fries, customers will be able to choose from an apple and grape bag, carrot bag, cucumber bag, or an orange, mango, and pineapple ‘McFreezy’ which is a fruit-flavored popsicle. For a drink, there will be a choice of flavored milk (chocolate, strawberry, or banana), water, or a Fruit Shoot. And yes, you read that right, there will be no portion of fries with this meal in a bid to make it healthier. All three of these new items will be available to purchase separately as well. The fish bites will be available to order in a larger portion or as part of a main meal. These fried pollock bites coated in panko crumbs will be served in portions of nine and come with a choice of ketchup, BBQ sauce, sweet curry, or sweet and sour dip. Fish McBites, which were similar to the new fish bites, were part of McDonald’s menu in the US back in 2013. The menu item was the franchise’s first fish offering in more than 50 years and was designed to be for people who were going off meat for Lent and could be bought in boxes of 10, 15, or 30. Although they were discontinued in 2013 due to lack of sales, they were one of McDonald’s best discontinued items and this trial in the UK means that people in the US might be able to try them a similar item again. This trial will last for 14 weeks in the UK and Ireland, however, only time will tell if the US will be receiving a Happy Meal makeover. McDonald’s is doing exciting things closer to home for those in the States though, with the announcement of a new McFlurry.

  • McDonald’s admits price surges are causing customers to stay at home – Dexerto

McDonald’s admits price surges are causing customers to stay at home NewsWeekMcDonald’s CFO has admitted that the fast food chain expects to see a dip in customers as food prices continue to rise. Recently, fast food lovers have been outraged at McDonald’s as their prices reach an all-time high. McDonald’s prices went up by 10% in 2023 alone, and while they still rise, the company intends to focus on value menu items and in-app deals to keep customers happy. McDonald’s finds ways to retain customers with exclusive deals Ian Borden, McDonald’s CFO spoke at a conference recently and admitted that a lot of their low income customers were opting to stay at home instead of eating out at fast food restaurants. Although McDonald’s has put its prices up, they have not changed their portion sizes in years, and customers are mad that they are paying much more for the same food items. One person took to X to say, “McDonalds high prices are the reason I stopped eating there.” after someone shared a photo of a McChicken sandwich that cost nearly five dollars: “I think consumers in 2024 are going to be much more focused on affordability,” Borden said. “And that’s certainly what we’re going to focus on and emphasize.” McDonald’s says they will, for example, promote its value deals more heavily, such as bundles in the US that come in at under $4. If you don’t yet have the McDonald’s app, it’s probably a good idea to get on there as soon as possible so that you can still enjoy fast food without your bank account taking a hit.

  • McDonald’s accused of “robbing” customers with extra takeout fee – Dexerto

McDonald’s accused of “robbing” customers with extra takeout fee TikTok/costakid2/PixabayA couple of McDonald’s customers are accusing the beloved burger franchise of “robbing” them after discovering an extra fee for getting food to go. McDonald’s reputation for having affordable fast food has taken a bit of a hit in recent months with combos costing nearly $20 at some locations and extra costs certainly aren’t helping matters. All this fuss even resulted in McDonald’s CEO promising to lower costs, but that hasn’t stopped customers from continuing to express their outrage. In a video making rounds on TikTok with almost 2M views in just one day, a McDonald’s customer was left flabbergasted after discovering there was an added fee for a bag. McDonald’s customers outraged by bag fee When TikToker ‘costakid2’ was ordering from a kiosk inside of the McDonald’s restaurant, he was shocked to see a £0.05 fee, around $0.06 USD, if he wanted a bag for takeout. “This is a f**king piss take, bro,” he slammed. “How have I just pulled up to McDonald’s and they’re trying to charge me £0.05 for a bag? What?” Costakid2 then showed the reaction of another customer who was equally as put off as he was about having to pay extra just for a bag. “McDonald’s is robbing us,” he captioned the video along with the description, “Cost of living hits hard.” In the comments, users expressed similar disgust with some noting how other locations have been doing this. “San Francisco mcd’s did this. I was floored,” one wrote. “It’s just 5p. Next month it will be 50p watch,” another remarked. This news comes as customers began to suspect McDonald’s was shrinking its iconic Quarter Pounder, resulting in a former chef chiming in and trying to set the matter straight.

  • McDonald’s 50th anniversary birthday menu: Everything you need to know – Dexerto

McDonald’s 50th anniversary birthday menu: Everything you need to know McDonald’sMcDonald’s is celebrating it’s 50th birthday this July, and to celebrate, it’s bringing back three iconic burgers, launching three new desserts, and adding a new cheesy item to the menu. You might be thinking that McDonald’s has been around in the United States for more than 50 years, and you’d be right, seeing as McDonald’s opened in the US in 1940. That’s why you might need to catch a flight if you want to try out this big menu shake-up, as the items are only available in the UK, where McDonald’s opened in 1974. What’s on the McDonald’s birthday menu? Customers can expect the return of the Double Big Mac, a towering burger with a whopping four meat patties and all the other goodness that you’d expect from a Big Mac, this can also be ordered with bacon if you’re in the mood to induce some meat sweats. Both variations of the classic Big Mac were available for a short time in 2020, but now you can get your hands on them again. As well as the Big Macs, customers will be able to order the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse, which is made of chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating with a smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, red onion, lettuce, all in a sourdough style sesame topped bun. This menu item was discontinued in October 2023, much to the dismay of McDonald’s fans across the UK. There is also an all-new snack item, the Cheesy Garlic Bread Dippers are a twist on the classic mozzarella dippers and can be ordered as a side or sharebox of 20. Room for dessert? The fast food chain is getting rid of several of its popular dessert items, including the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry, to make room for the new birthday themed additions. Up for grabs will be a Birthday Cake Donut, a Milkybar Raspberry Ripple McFlurry (white chocolate and raspberry swirl), and a Munchies Cookie Dough McFlurry (chocolate, biscuit pieces, and cookie dough). When will McDonald’s 50th birthday menu launch in UK? The menu is set to launch on July 17. However, McDonald’s has not specified how long this menu will be available. This menu launch could be around for a while though, as McDonald’s big promotion after summer is usually McDonald’s Monopoly, where customers get peel-off stickers on their food that allow them to win prizes and free menu items. This year, McDonald’s Monopoly is said to launch on September 4. Fast food fans are excited to celebrate McDonald’s birthday, with one person saying: “These desserts are sending me into orbit, I need them.” Another added: “Looking forward to trying the birthday cake doughnut, Milkybar Raspberry Ripple McFlurry and cheesy garlic bread dippers. But, they need to bring back Chicken Legend.” If you’re in the US you don’t have to miss out on the celebrations, because McDonald’s is giving away free fries every Friday.

  • Man wows the internet after transforming kitchen into Chipotle restaurant for his wife – Dexerto

Man wows the internet after transforming kitchen into Chipotle restaurant for his wife TikTok: table_view14A man has impressed the internet by transforming his kitchen into a Chipotle for his wife since the real restaurant has been ‘slacking’. American fast food chain Chipotle is known for its customizable Mexican cuisine, offering a range of meals from tacos to bowls to burritos. However, according to some customers the restaurant chain has been dipping in quality, with buyers now slamming Chipotle for its small portion sizes, “dirty” stores, and overpriced menu. Luckily for one woman, her husband decided to take matters into his own hands and transform their kitchen into an at-home Chipotle. High school sweethearts Braxton and Tia, who go by ‘table_view14‘ on TikTok, took to the social media platform to share the DIY Chipotle restaurant that Braxton had set up in their kitchen. Text overlay on the video read, “POV: When your husband creates his own Chipotle since they been slackin’.” Across the counter, Braxton had set up numerous bowls and trays to mimic Chipotle’s layout, putting on his best customer service voice as he asked for Tia’s order. After putting together a bowl for his wife, Braxton informed her the meal would cost “ten kisses,” a payment she was more than happy to make. Viewers fawned over Braxton’s sweet gesture, taking to the comments to praise the couple’s “cute” relationship and delicious DIY Chipotle. “The ten kisses completely melted the hopeless romantic in me,” one user wrote. Another said, “Stop this was so cute!!! He looked to happy to do this.” One person, however, pointed out that Braxton may have been ripped off by Tia; “She slackin in payment! That was only 3 kisses!”

Man who’s eaten McDonald’s every day celebrates 100th birthday there Unsplash: Brett JordanA beloved McDonald’s customer celebrated their 100th birthday at the chain, after loyally eating there every single day. West Virginia resident Zan White, a former WW2 vet has had a favorite breakfast spot for 36 years – McDonald’s. Zan and his buddies have been loyally visiting the chain each day to catch up over breakfast, and have even given their friendship group a name, the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Zan has spent his entire life in Elkins, where the local McDonald’s chain resides, and loves nothing more than hanging out there. When staff at the McDonald’s chain caught on that he was about to turn 100, they decided it was time for a celebration. They created a birthday bash for the vet, complete with decorations, and even a birthday message from the governor. The McDonald’s supervisor commented on Zan’s presence in the restaurant, stating: “I’ve seen Zan every morning pretty much for the 24 years I’ve been working; it’s a joy to see him every morning, it’s one of the highlights of my day.” When asked what the secret was to his longevity, Zen said playfully, “It’s definitely coming to McDonald’s every morning and having McDonald’s coffee.” He also vowed to continue visiting his local McDonald’s, stating “I’ve been coming here for 36 years… I can’t stop now.” Another man went viral, after he showed footage of an abandoned McDonald’s from the 90s, and the low prices really got people talking.

  • Man spotted by Starbucks Executive given gift card for his act of kindness – Dexerto

Man spotted by Starbucks Executive given gift card for his act of kindness TikTok: @jontayblackA man who said he was awarded a Lifetime Starbucks Gift Card for his kind act to an employee was indeed given a gift card, although it wasn’t quite for a lifetime. In a video that’s gone viral on TikTok, a man said he was awarded a Lifetime Starbucks Gift Card for his act of kindness toward a new employee. Although it seemed too good to be true – and to some extent it was – they did receive a gift card. In the video, the man explains that he’d asked for a pretty straightforward item: a Strawberry Lemonade. The girl serving him, however, was new to the establishment, and was having some trouble putting his order through on the computer. “It was a new girl and she didn’t know how to put the order in,” he explains. This meant several mix-ups, where he ended up with the wrong order more than once. The man didn’t get frustrated, however, and decided to handle the situation with kindness. He acknowledges that everyone has tough days in work, and practiced patience and politeness with the new employee. Little did he know that a Starbucks Executive was watching the whole encounter. He thought that the man deserved to be rewarded for his act of kindness. He then said he was handed over a Lifetime Starbucks Gift Card. “Shoutout to Starbucks for making my day,” the TikToker said. “She gave me a lifetime Starbucks gift card.” Starbucks Gift Card too good to be true? When approached about the occurrence, a Starbucks Spokesperson released a statement that revealed the story was a little too good to be true. “The positive interaction did occur, it was a true example of how our partners work to uphold the customer experience every day. However, the gift card the customer received was for $5,” they said. With prices rising exponentially in fast food places, Starbucks is no exception. For some of their beverages, you’ll pay as much as $5.95. Take-out coffee is also one of the most popular options for customers, with a report showing that women will spend a colossal $2,327 on coffee each year. Men will spend $1,934 on average. Therefore, a Starbucks Lifetime Gift Card would be one of the most coveted items coffee fans can win. Even though Jontay wasn’t lucky enough to be given one of these, the video proves that kindness is rewarded.

From all-out brawls at the Waffle House to melees at the “world’s worst” McDonald’s involving raccoons, there’s no shortage of viral incidents at restaurants, especially when paying customers lose their cool. Earlier this week, a kerfuffle broke out between a Burger King employee and customers, but when someone else in line started filming the altercation for a viral moment, he had no idea what he was going to witness. Burger King fight ends in gunfire as customer shoots at staff As reported by WSBTV, Instagram user Big Dawg Chino was in line at the College Park Burger King when he overheard some fighting between a customer and an employee. “I’m like, this is funny because they are going to fight over a burger,” he said. “It’s really over food. Nobody did anything wrong. They just took too long with their food. Those people were really hungry.” According to Chino, the customer shouted, “I told you I wanted extra cheese,” and that’s when he started filming in hopes of capturing a viral moment. At the beginning of the clip, you can see a couple of Burger King workers get into it with the tough customers and even shove one of them before being pushed herself. Eventually, the group of customers went outside, and the female worker followed them out but had no idea one had grabbed a gun from inside their car. In a split second, a man fired a shot inside the restaurant before taking aim and firing yet again. “I thought that somebody was going to die. Like over a burger?” Chino gasped. College Park police say no one was hurt in the brouhaha and are attempting to find the perpetrators. This isn’t the first time someone brought a gun to a restaurant fight. Last year, a group of girls started pistol-whipping a man and smashed him with a chair after he began attacking them.

  • Man shocked as girlfriend racks up $100 Texas Roadhouse bill on his card – Dexerto

Man shocked as girlfriend racks up $100 Texas Roadhouse bill on his card FlickrA woman allegedly took her boyfriend’s credit card and spent $93 at Texas Roadhouse over the course of a meal with a friend, and he confronted her about it. In the video, the man questioned his girlfriend about her spending habits at a recent meal at Texas Roadhouse. The man gave her his card to pay for her meal there, but she ended up racking a $93 bill. He was obviously baffled by the amount, and can be heard saying: “I don’t understand. What cost $93 at Texas Roadhouse?” “Why didn’t you run it by me, bro? Why didn’t you call me – nothing by you? That’s my card, I work for my money,” he told her. We find out that the woman in question apparently paid for both her and her friend’s meals, which she says is normal in their friendship to take things in turns. “So you have here paying people meals and with my money? Like, I don’t understand that,” he responded. Instead of apologizing, his girlfriend told him that he can have his “little money back.” It’s unclear whether or not the video is a skit, as the man regularly posts content surrounding his relationship struggles. In a recent video, he claimed that he found out his girlfriend was texting a coworker, and that he was “done,” with her. There haven’t been any further uploads since. After the video was posted on TikTok, people were outraged by the woman’s behavior, writing: “Nahh she gotta go bro,” and that she had “No respect.” “I can turn my card off with my banking app. I would do that and change the locks, if she’s living with you and definitely find someone else,” another advised. However, most of the comments chided the man for giving her his credit card in the first place. “My thing is why did you give her your card?” one asked. “Bro, you need to pull your money out of there. Let her go spend $100 at Texas Roadhouse on her own hard earned money,” another advised. Another diner went viral when they raged at staff at the Sugar Factory, after they added an automatic tip to their bill.

  • Man reveals secret hack to trick waiters into thinking he’s tipping – Dexerto

Man reveals secret hack to trick waiters into thinking he’s tipping TikTok: @ryanisreallypoliteA man took to TikTok to share an unusual hack he uses to trick waiters into thinking he’s tipping, leaving TikTok furious – but is it real? In a video uploaded to TikTok, a man shared his unique strategy for tricking waiters into thinking that he’s tipping them, so that they think he’s “extra nice.” The ‘trick?’ Ryan made a weird gesticulation with his fingers, moving them around in a motion that makes it seem as though he’s tipping. He claimed: “So, I’ll never tip at a coffee shop, but, when they flip the iPad around, I do this thing with my fingers where I kind of like, make it look like I’m pressing into the $1 but then I just use my middle finger to click on ‘no tip.’” “Pretending to tip is more fun and you save a dollar,” he wrote in the video’s caption. After the video was posted however, not everyone found his ‘hack’ so useful. “They see the total?” one asked, clearly bemused. “Ummm, just hit ‘no tip’… they can see the total, and they know what the cost is without tip. This isn’t a trick,” another agreed. Others however, didn’t even think his ‘trick,’ was necessary: “I just hit no tip and then make direct eye contact. What are they going to tell me? Nothing.” Some waiting staff were frustrated with the creator, writing: “I literally love your videos, but I’m a barista and tips at coffee shops aren’t new. You’re not punishing company’s for tipping culture by not tipping, just employees. This is such a shitty take.” It appears, however, that the video’s creator, who regularly posts sketches on the platform, may have been pranking TikTok all along. He responded to one of the many angry comments telling him wait staff could see the total with: “Had no idea until now. Now I feel pretty silly.” Another TikToker went viral after they revealed a hack for avoiding the dreaded wasted food fee at all you can eat buffets.

  • Man returns McDonald’s cheeseburger to In-N-Out and gets free food – Dexerto

Man returns McDonald’s cheeseburger to In-N-Out and gets free food TikTok/antstorm123A man is going viral after discovering a way to successfully exchange a McDonald’s cheeseburger order for free food from In-N-Out. TikToker Anthony Villegas has a whole channel dedicated to fast food. Whether it’s trying out new items or ordering off secret menus, he’s always willing to try out what viewers suggest, even if the idea is a bit wacky. On April 3, a viewer suggested that Villegas order a McDonald’s burger and then return it to In-N-Out by telling them they made it wrong. Not one to shy away from a challenge, the TikToker accepted. First, he went to In-N-Out and got a cheeseburger before heading to McDonald’s where he bought one of theirs and switched the packaging. From there, he headed back to In-N-Out with a plan in place. “I had a cheeseburger, but I just want a normal hamburger if that’s possible,” Villegas told a worker as he handed her his In-N-Out bag with the McDonald’s burger inside. Instead of taking it to the back, however, the employee handed Villegas his food back and let him keep it as the staff prepared his plain burger. When all was said and done, the mission was accomplished and the content creator now had an extra burger. “And that is how you get a free burger from In-N-Out,” he grinned. Regardless, users in the comments were impressed with how staff handled the situation and former employees even revealed why the tactic works. “Used to work there, you don’t even need proof of anything just go up and say you’re missing a burger or something is wrong with a burger and they’ll make another one, no receipt or proof of the burger,” one commented. “In-N-Out typically has the best customer service, hate their lines but service is top notch,” another chimed in. Before you go and try this at your local chain, keep in mind that Villegas doesn’t advise other customers try this at home. He even ended up admitting that after he received the food, he let the staff know it was a prank and gifted them $10 for their trouble.

Man goes viral with reason for not using self-checkout & the internet supports him FlickrIn a viral video, a man took to TikTok to explain why he doesn’t use the self-checkout, and the internet sided with him. In a video that gained over 35,000 views before being taken down, a TikToker named Kevin, who regularly shares his opinions on pop culture, explained his reasons for avoiding self-checkouts. “I firmly believe that every time someone uses one of those automated kiosks, it’s a de facto vote against a longstanding occupation, which is the grocery clerk… I don’t want to be responsible, however passively, for killing off an entire occupation that’s been around since I was a kid.” He continued, saying that though technology is faster, it may not always be preferable: “I work in tech. You know, I use the internet for all sorts of reasons. But I’m not sure that I want everything automated in my life… I actually don’t mind the social exchange between the checkout clerk. I always tell one of my dumb dad jokes or, you know, ‘Don’t work too hard!’” “I hope that the clerks stay around for certainly my lifetime, but I fear that it won’t,” he finishes. Internet supports man’s stand against self-checkouts Before the video was removed, it gained a ton of comments from fellow like-minded shoppers. “My main reason is that I don’t get a discount for doing it nor am I a paid employee,” one wrote, suggesting that by using self-checkouts, shoppers were forgoing the luxury of having someone who’s being paid do the work for them. “I enjoy going to the grocery store. I enjoy having a grocery clerk ring up my items and we chit chat. It’s a great time,” another wrote. However, it turned out that there was one person who wasn’t in support – a grocery store worker: “30-year grocery store vet here. PLEASE USE THE SELF CHECKOUT! It helps by letting us redistribute employees throughout the store where they can be utilized better. No one is losing their job!” It turns out that the majority of consumers do in fact, prefer self-checkouts over store associates. In a recent survey, if given the option, 60% of consumers would rather serve themselves.

In a video that’s gained over 60,000 views on the platform, a man took to TikTok to share how popular chain, Olive Garden, didn’t take his job interview seriously. He claims that he was made to wait for three hours in the waiting room without any appearance from the interviewer. They ask: “Sir, are you being helped?” “No, I was not being helped… I went on an interview at Olive Garden, and this is how it f*cking went: It went horrible. They sat me in a room and said, ‘We’ll be with you shortly.’ I was in that b*tch for three hours before somebody even spoke to me.” Then, when the man was finally interviewed, he reports: “She never really asked me anything. She just had a piece of paper out like she was writing stuff down and be like, ‘We’re gonna call you.’ How the f*ck are you gonna call me? You didn’t even get my phone number. Y’all didn’t even know I had an interview.” People weigh in on man’s horrible Olive Garden interview After the video was posted on the platform, people were eager to discuss the details of the man’s job interview. “Waited 3 hours… they are not worth YOUR time bruh. The video’s posted seemed to agree, responding: “They know if they are going to hire you before you even come in in my opinion.” Another shared their own frustrating interview experience: “I had an interview and it lasted a few minutes… Just to be told I had to interview two more times with two different managers. It took three weeks. Then I was told I didn’t get the job as a host despite having five years of experience.” One, however, was skeptical about the man’s claims, asking: “Sit for three hours. • Man ‘eats his way out’ of being trapped in McDonald’s for 24 hours – Dexerto

Man ‘eats his way out’ of being trapped in McDonald’s for 24 hours Instagram: mcdonalds, X: joedeleoneAfter losing a bet with his friends, a fantasy football player had to sit inside a McDonald’s for a day and eat as much as he could to leave early. With most McDonald’s restaurants being open 24 hours daily, there’s always a chance that customers could stay there the entire day, as some locations allow guests to use their dine-in services regardless of the time. So when fantasy football player Joe DeLeone lost a bet with his friends, they challenged him to sit inside his local McDonald’s for a full 24 hours. Essentially, he’d have to ‘eat his way out’ of the fast food restaurant if he wanted to fulfill his end of their agreement that if he lost fantasy, he’d have to stay there all day. While he was inside McDonald’s, Joe took to X to expose himself as coming in last place and gave an update on his progress. Update one, meal one is 2 big breakfasts and 17 hash browns https://t.co/UMCDlwSNYn pic.twitter.com/7YdmD0KxjK — Joe DeLeone (@joedeleone) June 15, 2024 He also shared a Google spreadsheet that his friend in finance made that detailed all of the meals he could eat that would deduct the minutes he’d have to stay there. For instance, if Joe ate hotcakes and sausage for breakfast, he’d be able to reduce his 24 hours by 60 minutes. If he ate a McCrispy, he’d be able to take away another 45 minutes. There were at least 30 meals on the list that would aid in Joe’s time at McDonald’s being lessened, which also included 5 minutes for playing in the ball pit. While updating X on how the challenge was going, Joe said he ate “17 hash browns” for breakfast, which shortened his time by at least 7 hours, as each hash brown was worth 25 minutes. He also recommended that if anyone wanted to use the spreadsheet and challenge themselves to sit inside McDonald’s for 24 hours, they should “eat as many big breakfasts with hot cakes as you can” since that meal combo was worth 120 minutes per order. My tip is don’t do it 😂 — Joe DeLeone (@joedeleone) June 16, 2024 But eat as many big breakfasts with hot cakes as you can Joe further noted that he would have liked his meals comped by McDonald’s, as his first order cost him $64. However, he had “enough points to feed a family” after earning almost 10,000 in rewards from his time there. I have enough points to feed a family pic.twitter.com/mVXMeypZxo — Joe DeLeone (@joedeleone) June 15, 2024 While he stated that he wanted to “get outta there as soon as I can,” Joe ended up staying for at least eight hours after eating 6,000 calories in total.

  • Man ditches date mid-meal and internet supports him – Dexerto

Man ditches date mid-meal and internet supports him TikTok: @equanaaaA woman revealed that her date left her in the middle of their meal, after she ate four dozen oysters, and much of the response has taken his side in the debate. We’ve all had bad dating experiences, but perhaps this woman’s story tops them all. A woman who goes by the username @equanaaa, on TikTok took to the platform to share a nightmare date she’d had. In the video, the woman shares that her date had been texting her for weeks, dying to take her out. She finally gave in, and they decided to go to Fontaine’s Oyster Bar because they have the “best oysters in Atlanta.” She filmed segments of their meal, wanting to show viewers how great the meal looked. We can see in the video that she’s finished four trays of oysters, which comes in at 48 individual oysters in total. “When the fourth one came he was looking at me crazy, I didn’t give a f**k. I’m like, ‘Baby you invited me out. I’m gonna eat.’” She then orders more food, which is around the time her date excused himself to go to the bathroom. However, he never came back, and left her with the tab. TikTok side with date ditching woman After the video was posted on TikTok, people couldn’t wait to chime in, especially considering the woman was so baffled by her date leaving mid-meal. “You eating 48 oysters, a whole meal and multiple drinks in that short window is INSANE,” one told her. Many were grossed out by the woman’s way of eating: “Idk what’s worse, the 48 oysters as an APPETIZER or the insane slurping and smacking.” “Well DAMN mama! The slurping alone would have made me leave,” another agreed. People condoned her date leaving, concluding her behavior was unacceptable: “The way I would’ve dislocated my ankle trying to get out there.” “Yeah no he was definitely not in the wrong. I would have ran out too.” One, however, thought there was some kind of middle ground to the citation, writing: “I’m not mad at either one of y’all like I see both sides. I love oysters but also could not imagine someone smacking on them for 10+ mins.” Another woman went viral in January, after she found an unexpected red flag in her Hinge date’s bathroom.

  • Man breaks internet with game changing sandwich-cutting hack – Dexerto

Man breaks internet with game changing sandwich-cutting hack @ryancduffA man has set the internet ablaze after revealing the unusual way he cuts his sandwiches – and people are here for it. Twitter/X user Ryan Duff recently dropped a new sandwich technique that people just can’t get enough of. Reminiscent of a pizza, Duff cut his sandwiches into three slices, providing more substance with each bite. What truly makes the sandwich-cutting method so great though, is that three slices are set apart, crustless, delivering a delicious meaty center. Additionally, the arrangement into three pieces, rather than the usual two, provides a pretty big bonus, as it looks like there is more sandwich, despite the quantity being the same. After Ryan shared the post on social media, people just couldn’t get enough, and it has racked up nearly 20 million views. “I cut my sandwich like this today and I’ll be honest you really did something here,” one wrote. “I love that this is viral. It’s like the Mercedes of sandwiches,” another said, followed by a laughing emoji. Some were curious about the sandwich-eating tactics, asking Ryan a question: “Does the top piece get eaten last? To which he replied simply: “Yes.” This isn’t the first time someone has gone viral for their unusual food preparation techniques – in April, TikTok was astounded after finding out they’d been eating airheads wrong the entire time.

  • Man attacks Circle K cashier with chocolate egg and jumps counter to punch him – Dexerto

Man attacks Circle K cashier with chocolate egg and jumps counter to punch him FlickrIn a completely chaotic attack where a Circle K cashier was attacked by a chocolate egg, a man has since been arrested for the incident. Here are the details. In an event that transpired at a Circle K convenience store, John Mehas, the attacker, grabbed a chocolate egg to use as a weapon against a cashier. The blow struck him in the middle of his forehead, but things were far from over. After hitting the victim with the egg, Mehas jumped over the counter, and began to assault the cashier even further. The police said that first he pushed him, before going on to punch the worker square in the face. Mehas admitted his crime to police and was arrested for battery. He was taken into the county jail and later posted a $1,000 bond. Why did the chocolate egg assault happen? Considering the bizarre nature of the attack, it leads you to wonder why such an event transpired in the first place. Apparently, it’s because Riordan, the cashier, attempted to help Mehas while he stood in line by ringing up his items and reducing the amount of time he needed to wait. This didn’t go to plan however, and instead of accepting the cashier’s help, he went to ring out his items at another counter. After his items were done scanning, this is when he “threw a chocolate egg towards the victim hitting him in the forehead.”

  • Logan Paul & KSI’s Prime Hydration hit with $68M lawsuit for breach of contract – Dexerto

Logan Paul & KSI’s Prime Hydration hit with $68M lawsuit for breach of contract Twitter: @PrimeHydrateLogan Paul and KSI’s Prime Hydration has been sued for $68,000,000 for breach of contract by a bottling company after Prime allegedly backed out of a deal they had made. According to the lawsuit filed on August 2, 2024, the deal between Prime and Refresco Beverages called for the company to spend large sums of money to change its production line to create the special bottles used by the influencer-led brand. Due to the amount of money being invested in the production line, the two companies allegedly agreed on a minimum order commitment. If they didn’t hit take the agreed upon orders from Refresco, Prime would have been required to pay a set amount of money per case. “If Defendants did not purchase and take delivery of at least 90% of the agreed annual volume commitment for each of the three contract years, Defendants would be obligated to pay Refresco a fixed shortfall amount for each 12-bottle case, below the volume commitment, that Defendants did not purchase,” it reads. According to the lawsuit shared by BloombergLaw, as Refresco was getting ready to do a test run of the popular drink, Prime backed out of the agreement all together. Refresco is seeking $67,710,000 in damages due to Prime allegedly backing out of the contract. They’re asking for interest as well, making the total request over $68M. This lawsuit against Prime is part of a growing list of legal issues facing the influencer-led drink company. Back in 2023, a woman filed a lawsuit against Prime claiming that its grape-flavored hydration drink included “forever chemicals” that are thought to cause cancer and various other health issues. In May 2024, a class action lawsuit was filed against Prime for “false advertising” on its energy drink cans. In the filing, the plaintiffs claimed that the drink had more than 200mg of caffeine. After signing Kevin Durant as a sponsored athlete for the company, Prime launched a special edition bottle with the NBA star’s branding. Due to the inclusion of Durant’s Olympic accolades on the back of the bottle, the US Olympic committee filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Prime just days later.

  • Logan Paul & KSI partner with MrBeast for new Lunchables competitor featuring Prime & Feastables – Dexerto

Logan Paul & KSI partner with MrBeast for new Lunchables competitor featuring Prime & Feastables Instagram: LunchlyLogan Paul & KSI have partnered with YouTube star Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson to create “Lunchly,” a Lunchables competitor featuring Prime Hydration and Feastables candy. Since releasing Prime Hydration back in 2022, Logan Paul & KSI have continued to release new products like energy drinks and hydration powder to further expand the beverage brand. Just weeks after Prime hit the shelves, YouTube superstar MrBeast revealed Feastables – a “better for you” chocolate bar that came with a chance to win $1,000,000 in prizes at launch. During an Instagram Live on September 16, 2024, Prime revealed a partnership with MrBeast to create their newest product, Lunchly, which is a competitor to the iconic Lunchables brand. Featuring three different entrees – Nachos, Pizza, and Turkey “Stack ‘Ems” – the product features a mini-sized Feastables chocolate bar and a bottle of Prime Hydration. MrBeast said in a statement that the goal of Lunchly is to “change what lunchtime looks like” for the next generation of kids. And, they’re doing so by making it more fun and convenient. “Our end game has always been to not only provide high quality products, but also healthier alternatives. That’s why we’re entering the lunch grab-and-go market. It’s been dominated by Lunchables since we were kids ourselves and it’s time to provide a better option for those looking for a convenient, healthier choice,” said Logan Paul. Prime co-founder KSI added: “We’re here to shake up the lunch grab-and-go market with Lunchly. It’s time for a new, exciting option that brings more fun and convenience to lunchtime, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing.” Feastables and Prime history explained After Prime Hydration first launched back in 2022, fans flocked to the supermarket to get their hands on the sports drink. This caused Prime to become relatively rare across the US and UK, with many resellers posting it on the “black market” for exorbitant prices – almost $20 USD. In 2024, though, stock is readily available and the second-hand market for the drink is almost non-existent. Logan and KSI have since expanded the brand with energy drinks using the same flavors, but with 200mg of caffeine added. Shortly after its launch, Prime came under scrutiny from US Senator Charles Schumer, who claimed that the drink was a “serious health concern” due to its caffeine content and the fact the brand is marketed to kids. Prime quickly responded, arguing that the caffeinated beverage was not made for anyone under the age of 18. Since then, Prime Hydration has come under fire for allegedly containing “forever chemicals”, and has faced lawsuits for trademark infrigement, breach of contract, and more. While MrBeast’s Feastables haven’t been resold on the secondhand market for high prices, the chocolate bar company has maintained popularity since its launch in 2022. He’s managed to secure store deals with some of the biggest supermarkets in the United States, including Walmart and Target. Feastables faced a massive lawsuit in 2023 from a peanut company called ‘Dees Nuts,’ who claimed the YouTuber infringed on their copyright with the Feastables chocolate and peanut butter bar: ‘Deez Nutz.’ They won the lawsuit, and MrBeast had to remove the branding from his candy bar. As a result, though, the YouTuber unveiled a whole new Feastables rebrand in February 2024 that introduced new labels, new formulas for the chocolate, and most notably – the absence of the ‘Deez Nutz’ branding. MrBeast’s chocolate working with Logan Paul and KSI’s company should come as no surprise to fans, as they’re the biggest creator-made brands to hit supermarket shelves over the last few years. It also started a trend of other creators launching their own products like WhistlinDiesel’s premium alcohol, FaZe Blaze’s caffeinated chocolate, and more. Logan has explained multiple times in the past that he approached Donaldson for help with growing Prime – although he later confessed that MrBeast initially doubted the sports drink would be successful. Logan and KSI have had a tight relationship with MrBeast over the years, and most recently appeared together in his “50 YouTubers Fight For $1,000,000,” video back in July. MrBeast has been under fire over the last few months after former employee Ava Kris Tyson faced allegations of grooming a minor while working with the YouTube star. Since then, claims that he illegally fired an employee and stole a video have surfaced. An internal email leaked on August 9, 2024, shows MrBeast promising a “full investigation” into the allegations and internal changes to his YouTube production company. Lunchly comes in three variations What you get in the box differs with each variant of the product, too, as each one comes with a different flavor of Prime Hydration and Feastables chocolate bar. The bottle of Prime is a smaller 12oz version, and the Feastables bar appears to be smaller, as well. It’s unknown whether or not the candy bar is a new size, however, as the Lunchly website doesn’t specify this detail. Here’s a list of what comes in each Lunchly box: Fiesta Nachos – Strawberry Banana Prime Hydration and Milk Chocolate Feastables – The Pizza – Cherry Freeze Prime Hydration and Milk Crunch Feastables – Turkey Stack ‘Ems – Ice Pop Prime Hydration and Milk Chocolate Feastables – Where to buy Lunchly by MrBeast, Logan Paul, and KSI According to the YouTube trio, Lunchly will be made available at Kroger and Albertson’s stores in the coming days. You can check the store locator on Lunchly’s website to try to find them nearby. Many Kroger stores already have listings for the product on its app, which reveals a $3.99 price tag.

Van Leewen, which was first introduced in 2008, has since become an incredibly popular ice cream chain. They’re known for their unique ice-cream combinations that fans would struggle to purchase elsewhere. Oftentimes, their ingredients are imported from different countries in order to create their flavor. In their ice-creams, they’ve used everything from Sicilian pistachios to Ceylon cinnamon and vanilla from Papua New Guinea. Now, the brand has revealed they’ll be unveiling a new flavor called ‘Lizard Lunch.’ What is new Lizard Lunch flavored ice cream? With such a curious name, you might wonder what this new Lizard Lunch-flavored ice cream actually tastes like. Is its taste modeled after actual lizards? The short answer, no. The reason why the brand have named it Lizard Lunch is to celebrate the launch of Adam Sandler’s upcoming Netflix movie, LEO. It is blue and green in terms of color, and tastes like a birthday cake. It also has cookies and cream swirled throughout. It’s sold at all Van Leeuwen locations, and online at vanleeuwenicecream.com. Van Leeuwen aren’t the only ice cream brand to release an item with an unusual name. In November, Baskin-Robbins announced their turkey dinner-inspired flavor.

Livvy Dunne surprises campus by serving Raising Cane’s after NCAA win Raising Cane’sLivvy Dunne and her LSU Gymnastics teammates surprised local Baton Rouge residents by serving Raising Cane’s near campus. The 21-year-old gymnast drew quite the crowd and could be seen working behind the cash register on April 23. She was joined by her fellow teammates Kiya Johnson, Haleigh Bryant, Savannah Schoenherr, and Aleah Finnegan. “I have so many memories at Cane’s coming here with my teammates after a fun night… we ate at Cane’s yesterday after coming back from our championship win and it was amazing. It tastes even better after winning, and I’ve always dreamed of working a ‘shift’ at Cane’s and here I am!” Dunne commented. “I told Paul I wanted to work the Drive-Thru and remember when he did this after LSU baseball’s championship win, and now I’m here seeing all of our fans. It’s surreal!” After the video was posted on Instagram, people were excited about the LSU / Raising Cane’s crossover. “I wish I was within an hour drive. I would go check it out,” one wrote, while another said that the collab was “So cool.” “It’s such a beautiful thing to witness! These super talented LSU Tigers gymnastics champions have worked so hard – and for it all to pay off is incredible” another chimed in. Dunne is reportedly the highest-paid female athlete in the NCAA with an estimated valuation of roughly $3.5 million annually. The Tigers won their first NCAA title in their history on April 20. Dunne joined her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, as an LSU national champion. She also made headlines in March after she accused TikTok of censoring her through shadow bans. ‘Shadow bans’ refer to instances where platforms suppress an account’s reach without explicitly removing their profile. She asked the internet what was going on, and viewers confirmed that they weren’t seeing her on their timelines anymore. There was no explanation for Dunne’s low views, but she’s convinced that she’s being punished by the platform.

  • Little Caesars worker sparks debate for calling manager over $300 tip – Dexerto

Little Caesars worker sparks debate for calling manager over $300 tip TikTok: bdtrelilbrotherA worker at Little Caesars ignited a fierce debate on TikTok after calling their manager over to ask if they could split a $300 tip among the rest of their crew. Little Caesars is a popular pizza chain in the United States known for its affordable Hot-N-Ready pies and buttery, garlicky ‘Crazy Bread.’ Recently, the chain went viral after releasing their new $4 ‘Crazy Puffs’ — but now, the chain is taking over social media for a different reason entirely. A former Little Caesars employee has racked up a million views on TikTok after recording his interaction with a worker who wanted to split an eye-popping tip with his crewmates. Little Caesars worker ignites debate over sharing $300 tip On March 17, TikTok user ‘Raymonte’ uploaded a video showing himself approaching a cashier at Little Caesars with a $300 tip amid the current Crazy Puffs craze. “I used to work here at Little Caesars, so I know how hectic this is,” he explained. “I wanted to give you this. It’s $300. …I know how this job is. It’s really irritating.” Rather than looking shocked or surprised, the worker seemed loath to take the tip for himself. Instead, he called over his manager to ask if he could split the cash with the rest of his crew — something she said wasn’t possible. It turns out that the worker couldn’t accept the tip at all, prompting Raymonte to tell him he was “supposed to put it in your pocket” rather than alert his manager. “I think that’s hating,” Raymonte explained. “A lot of people are slaving in there, going real hard with this trendy motherf*kin’ food, and you can’t tip them? What pizza place doesn’t allow people to get tipped? That isn’t right at all.” Commenters seemed to agree with Raymonte, with one user writing, “Never call a manager if someone gives you tip.” “You will never catch me asking my manager to take a tip, like for real!” another said. Still others were impressed with the worker for immediately wanting to split the cash with his fellow employees: “Splitting it up with the crew. He a real one.” This is just the latest Little Caesars moment to go viral on TikTok after a customer got slammed by a worker for returning an already-eaten pizza and expecting a refund.

Little Caesars has long been a favorite amongst pizza lovers for its famous “hot and ready” options that allow customers to purchase pizza quickly and without hassle. Shared on TikTok account ‘dawid.outdoor,’ the man attempted to put a Little Caesars’ manager on blast after she slammed him for demanding a refund. What he likely didn’t expect was for viewers to side with the unimpressed manager. “Staphylococcus meningitis. He got Staphylococcus from all of this garlic butter,” the manager announced as the man filmed her at the drive-thru. “I’ll give you your money back, you don’t have to record me. I know what I’ve done — I didn’t call you and say I got food poisoning.” When the man attempted to interrupt her, she showed the pizza box he had returned had most of its contents eaten; “You said you had food poisoning and you bring it back and it’s all gone. And you got garlic butter all over, no wonder you got sick.” “Am I allowed to talk?” the man quizzed, but was quickly shut down. The Little Caesars manager didn’t hesitate to continue roasting him, dubbing the unhappy customer “Mr. I got food poisoning 2 seconds after I ate.” The man responded by stating she needed to “work on [her] customer service”, resulting in him being told that “liars” weren’t welcome at Little Caesars. The video garnered 3.6 million views on TikTok, with viewers siding with the manager. “Give that woman a raise!” one person commented. Another asked, “Why did you eat half of the pizza and bring it back?” Many slammed the man’s demand for a refund considering the pizza cost only $7, praising the manager for ‘dragging’ him for the “wild” request; “She ended you so bad omg I would delete this.”

  • Liquid Death releases Hot Fudge Sundae flavored water in collab with Van Leeuwen – Dexerto

Liquid Death releases Hot Fudge Sundae flavored water in collab with Van Leeuwen Liquid DeathLiquid Death has released a Hot Fudge Sundae flavor variation of its sparkling water alongside popular ice cream company Van Leeuwen. Van Leeuwen has gained notoriety over the years by releasing some of the most unique ice cream flavors on the market. They’ve created tasty treats based on ranch dressing, macaroni and cheese, and have even collaborated with Hello Kitty and Adam Sandler’s movie LEO. On August 13, 2024, Van Leeuwen joined forces with popular drink company Liquid Death – but this time, they’re not the ones releasing a new product. Liquid Death has launched a Hot Fudge Sundae flavor of its sparkling water, the latest in the company’s lineup. “Introducing the first Hot Fudge Sundae you can actually chug!” read the tweet. “The only way to try Liquid Death x Van Leeuwen Hot Fudge Sundae sparkling water is to visit a Van Leeuwen Scoop Shop or buy it on Amazon right now.” Fans of the popular drink company were quick to share their thoughts about the unique flavor, with many heading to Amazon to buy a case almost immediately. “This sounds disgusting,” one user shared alongside a screenshot of the order they made. Another commented: “Hot Fudge Sundae Sparkling Water? Really? “Ordered. I can’t wait to taste this disgusting creation,” a third commented. A fourth said: “I love Liquid Death, but this really has me curious to how this tastes.” This isn’t the first time Liquid Death has gone against the grain with their products and marketing. In 2023, LD revealed that, due to a threat from the Arnold Palmer estate, it could no longer use the name ‘Armless Palmer.’ As a result, they changed the name to ‘Dead Billionaire,’ seemingly referencing the deceased pro golfer’s wealth. Most recently, they announced that they are giving away a jet to one lucky winner that will be announced in September 2024.

  • Liquid Death are giving away a jet in competition inspired by ‘giant soda brand’ legal battle – Dexerto

Liquid Death are giving away a jet in competition inspired by ‘giant soda brand’ legal battle Liquid Death / PepsiCoSustainable drinks brand Liquid Death are giving away an actual jet called ‘The Dehydrator’ to one lucky winner who enters their competition between May and September 2024. The competition is inspired by a famous legal battle where a well-known soda brand (hint: they’re Coca-Cola’s biggest competitor) ‘jokingly’ offered a jet if customers collected enough points. Well, Liquid Death is actually doing it – and it’s no joke. And while they have avoided name-dropping Pepsi, it’s clear where the whole idea has come from. The Dehydrator (an Aero L-39, if you know your planes) has a top speed of about 470 miles per hour and almost 4,000-foot pounds of thrust – enough speed to make your mouth dry. To enter, all you have to do is walk into a physical store (these drinks are stocked at Target, 7-Eleven, and Kroger), buy Liquid Death, and keep the physical receipt. Then, follow the process to upload it at www.liquiddeath.com/jet. Every can purchased is an entry, and online orders are not included. Aside from the jet, the winner will also get a year’s supply of Liquid Death, six months of free hangar space, a pilot’s helmet, and a cup holder that fits nicely in your new ride. The jet comes with a valid and effective FAA special certification of airworthiness. And, if you don’t have a pilot’s license or a hangar handy, you can substitute the jet for a briefcase with $250,000 in it. What inspired this competition? In the mid-1990s, Pepsi offered prizes for points earned with drink purchases. Sunglasses were 50 points, a hat was 70, and so on. In the commercial, they ‘jokingly’ had a kid pull up to school in a jet that he had won for 7 million points. The company didn’t place a disclaimer on their ad that this wasn’t an actual prize, as they never thought anyone would collect that many points. A 23-year-old student took this as a challenge, and raised $700,000 from investors to buy points and tried to cash in on the jet. Pepsi refused to deliver the jet, claiming it was a joke, and it led to a years-long legal battle. Eventually, it ended in favor of the soda brand, but sparked a hugely popular Netflix documentary, and taught marketing companies a thing or two about disclaimers. Who are Liquid Death? A relatively new beverages company, Liquid death was founded in 2018 and has several types of canned still and sparkling waters (some of which are flavored) and their marketing strategies are pretty inventive. For example, they sell bolo ties as merch, and their rewards scheme is literally signing a contract to “sell your soul”. Now, they’re poking fun at a huge soda brand to hit home that their products are different. They focus on sustainability, don’t sell sugar-loaded drinks, and their brand statement is totally unique: “We’re just a funny beverage company who hates corporate marketing as much as you do. Our evil mission is to make people laugh and get more of them to drink more healthy beverages more often, all while helping to kill plastic pollution.” The biggest takeaway from all this? Yes, you could win a jet. No, it’s not a ‘joke’ this time.

  • Leaked Wendy’s menu claims they’re launching a SpongeBob Krabby Patty – Dexerto

Leaked Wendy’s menu claims they’re launching a SpongeBob Krabby Patty Wendy’sRumor has it that Wendy’s is about to hit us all with a wave of 90s nostalgia, because a menu collab with SpongeBob Squarepants has been leaked, and it’s about to make all your food dreams come true. Have you ever wanted to reach through the screen and try a fictional food item? Well, Wendy’s is set to launch a Krabby Patty along with an under-the-sea-themed Frosty to quench it all down. The menu was leaked in a photo on Reddit, that shows an apparent PSA to staff members at Wendy’s about the upcoming menu launch. The leaked image shows an announcement to staff dated August 16, 2024, and details that Wendy’s will offer a Krabby Patty collab that will be available in the US and Canada from early October until early November. The menu will apparently include: Krabby Patty: A fresh cheeseburger loaded with “fresh produce” and an all-new Krabby Patty sauce. Not giving much away here, but after all, it is a secret formula. – Pineapple Under The Sea Frosty: In honor of SpongeBob’s home, this Frosty will be flavored with vanilla, as well as mango and pineapple puree. – Hot and Crispy Fries: An already existing menu item, but the menu release states that the burger will be served with Wendy’s signature fries. – The memo to staff also mentions restaurant merch to go along with the SpongeBob collaboration. So, is this collab real, or is the internet just up to its usual tricks? As far as we can tell, the photograph of the announcement to staff looks pretty genuine and includes all the information that would be expected of a memo like this. As we’ve learned with Starbucks, staff usually do get a heads up about releases a few months in advance, so the timeline checks out too. In fact, a Redditor who claims to work at Wendy’s confirmed the collaboration in the comments: “Yeah I was working today and my manager turns to me and says we’re doing the SpongeBob collab in October and that was probably the most hyped I’ve ever been from my job.” This comes as SpongeBob Squarepants celebrates its 25th anniversary, and would be the latest in a long line of product partnerships with Wendy’s, including the limited-edition figures sold in 2017 to celebrate the release of the SpongeBob movie. Not to mention the fact that SpongeBob wears Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas’ signature red tie, and the square burger patties served at Wendy’s match SpongeBob’s square pants. It’s safe to say that we’re all hoping this collab is true so that we can finally live out the childhood dream of actually eating a Krabby Patty. While you wait in anticipation, you can always give the new Arch Burger at McDonald’s a whirl.

  • Krispy Kreme sparks debate by allowing bees to swarm donuts in Mexico – Dexerto

Krispy Kreme sparks debate by allowing bees to swarm donuts in Mexico CanvaA video of a Krispy Kreme donut stall in Mexico being overrun by bees has give viral on TikTok, amassing over eight million views in three days. The video, posted by an Esthetics Clinic in Las Vegas, shows the classic Krispy Kreme glazed donuts on display with hundreds of bees crawling over them, accompanied by a sign in Spanish that states Krispy Kreme are bee friendly. After racking up over 8 million views, this clip has sparked a huge debate online, with people questioning whether this close contact with bees is safe for customers and staff. Why does Krispy Kreme allow bees to swarm donuts? Beside the swarm of bees, a sign can be seen in Spanish that states that Krispy Kreme is a ‘safe place for bees along their journey.’ Although the video provides no explanation, the staff are going about their day serving donuts as usual to customers, so this would suggest that Krispy Kreme encourages allowing the bees to feast unharmed, as they are an endangered species. The debate in the comments created a few questions about the video. Are these even honey bees? Why does Krispy Kreme allow this to happen? And do bees not carry germs like cockroaches or flies would? Although Krispy Kreme have no specific information about this ‘bee policy’ on their website, there is a QR code that can be seen in the video, suggesting that more information would be provided upon scanning. Honey bees are an endangered species, and because their pollination is so vital to our ability to grow food, general advice suggests that you should leave honey bees unharmed and allow them to feed. Are these honey bees or wasps? People in the comments were debating whether these were even honey bees at all and speculating that they were wasps. However, one person cleared this up: “Wasps have a prominent yellow color, honey bees, like the ones in the video, have a honey color.” Once it was straightened out that these were, indeed, honey bees, some people were more on board with the cause as it was clear that the honey bees were feeding on the sugar on the donuts and that these weren’t wasps that are known to be aggressive and sting people. According to other comments, honey bees are actually pretty docile, and do not sting the Krispy Kreme employees when they are serving the donuts: “I asked an employee in a Krispy Kreme exactly like this in Mexico City… he looked at me like I was crazy and said, ‘No it doesn’t bother me at all.’ Another instance of this phenomenon went viral back in 2023, and prompted some responses from bee experts. As per the comments on the video, people were affronted by the amount of ‘bugs’ on the food, and were stating that they would never eat a donut from there again. A large debate was had in the comments after people assumed that the bees would be spreading bacteria and laying eggs on the donuts. However, only the queen bee lays eggs, and this is only done inside the bee hive. So, no ‘bee eggs’ to worry about. According to another comment: “I guarantee the bees are no more dirty than all the surfaces including the display case and packaging these donuts will see.” A beekeeper weighed in, settling the debate once and for all. “Bees swarming in and on donuts is no big deal,” says Wyoming beekeeper Michael Jordan. “As long as you don’t get bees in your mouth, you’re safe,” he said. “And remember, honey is bee vomit.” So, there you have it. Although this may seem like a crazy health hazard, Krispy Kreme is doing their part for the protection of bees by allowing them to eat donuts for nutrients. Honey bees are totally safe to be around and don’t carry any germs. However, people are still divided. Half of the commenters want to know what honey made by bees who eat donuts would taste like, and the other half are fine with bees eating donuts, but don’t feel that they should have to share. Either way, it seems that these ‘bee friendly’ stores are not common practice anywhere in the US, so no need to worry about having the sugar stolen off your donut by a bee. If you don’t feel like chowing down on a bee donut, why not check out Krispy Kreme’s new French dessert-themed range for the Paris Olympics?
