  • Source who correctly leaked PS5 claims these games are coming – Dexerto

Source who correctly leaked PS5 claims these games are coming The first PS5 details have been revealed and it turns out one leaker had them correct along. Originating from December 2018, the source listed the specs as well as a list of games we could see on the Playstation 5. What games will be on the PS5? The leaker’s information on the next-gen Sony console went further than the console itself, also discussing future game releases. These include both exclusive and non-exclusive titles for Playstation. Here’s each game listed in the leak, and what we know about them so far. Non-exclusive PS5 games Battlefield Bad Company 3 Battlefield Bad Company 3 was one of these details. The Bad Company series has gathered a cult following over the years. However, the last edition of the game, Battlefield Bad Company 2 was last seen in 2010. Harry Potter Another non-exclusive game listed is simply Harry Potter. This is interesting revelation as a mainline Harry Potter game hasn’t been seen on console since 2011. The highly anticipated mobile game: Harry Potter Wizard’s Unite is expected to release in 2019 – it will be interesting to see if this release relates to the apparent upcoming console version. Interestingly, leaked footage of an apparent upcoming Harry Potter game appeared on YouTube in October 2018. The video was quickly blocked by Warner Bros but other footage has appeared since. Whether this is the same video as the one that was blocked is unknown. The game certainly looks like it’s designed for next generation consoles. GTA 6 Then there is the big one, the game shrouded in secrecy, GTA 6. The leak of Grand Theft Auto 6 is huge gaming news. Information about the GTA map location, Sony Playstation exclusivity and whether it will release on PS4 was all listed by the leaker. Assassin’s Creed Assassin’s Creed is another touted release which shouldn’t come as overly surprising. Ubisoft’s popular series has had a new game on an almost yearly basis since its initial release in 2007. Exclusive PS5 games This part of the leak is somewhat confusing as the heading states “PS4 exclusive launch games”. Given the below games, we’re going to assume that it’s a typo and it should be PS5. Gran Turismo The first game listed is a virtual reality game: Gran Turismo 7 VR. Given the past graphical fidelity of Gran Turismo games, and it’s Playstation exclusivity, this could be a flagship game for the PS5. The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima The next two are more interesting unless they have been misinterpreted in translation. The Last of Us 2 Remaster and Ghost of Tsushima Remaster have yet to have their original versions released. This means both of these games will launch for the Playstation 5 or that they are both being remastered after they’re made available on the PS4. As always when reading leaks they should be treated so with scepticism. However, the fact this leaker did so accurately predict other details which were correct, it does make it an interesting and exciting prospect.

  • Another PS5 leak: Playstation 5 dev kit and controller revealed? – Dexerto

Another PS5 leak: Playstation 5 dev kit and controller revealed? The gaming community is desperately awaiting news on the hugely anticipated PS5 and the latest leak reveals what appears to be a PS5 dev kit, as well as a controller to boot. PlayStation 5 dev kit At this point, the existence of a Playstation 5 dev kit is highly probable. A PS5 release now seems a question of when, rather than if. This leak provides the first visual of the PS5 dev kit, however, and was posted by Twitter users SUPERSONIC4k and Tidux. In truth, little can be gleaned from the appearance of the dev kit hardware as the PS5 won’t look like this as a finished product, presumably. Read More: PS5 APU specs leaked – Assuming the leak is real, and it’s entirely possible that it isn’t, the dev kit looks like something from the 1990s, let alone the design for what should be one of, if not the, most powerful console ever. PS4 dev kit comparison PS4 users may recall what the original PS4 dev kit looked like. While it will have been interesting to see how it develops, it looked nothing like the final PS4 product. Unfortunately, this shows the design of the PS5 dev kit has little to no bearing on what the much hyped PS5 will look like. PS5 controller leak PS5 controller designs have been making the rounds on the internet for years now. Some seem believable, while others are just flagrantly fake. This leaked PS5 controller is at least somewhat believable, though. The touchpad, which provides a screen and appears to showing a messaging feature, does seem like it could be a genuine next step in the Playstation controller development cycle. With that said, the design of the control has a lot of Playstation enthusiasts questioning its legitimacy. The design is rather clunky and doesn’t befit what would be expected from Sony’s next controller design. Real or fake? The sincerity of the leaks is somewhat debatable, although it has been speculated from people in the know that they are fakes. The designs of both the dev kit and controller do little to make them believable. However, the designs could well be prototypes and, based on their appearance, subject to change. With the evidence that previous dev kits have looked nothing like their finished product, whether this latest PS5 leak is real or fake remains inconclusive.

  • PS5 fans slam Sony scalper group stockpiling consoles during shortage – Dexerto

PS5 fans slam Sony scalper group stockpiling consoles during shortage SonyPS5 fans have already had a hard time finding consoles due to high-demand and worldwide shortages, but now they’re even angrier after learning a scalper group has been stockpiling PS5s and selling them to members at a higher price. The PS5 console launch has been a wild ride due to worldwide shortages and high-demand during a global pandemic. Some people have been lucky enough to get their hands on a console, but many others are still waiting. PS5 consoles sold out in a matter of minutes during a brief pre-order window several months ago. Then, additional waves of pre-orders and restocks sold out in seconds. Now, a couple of weeks have passed since the official PS5 launch, and consoles are still hard to find. What’s more, there has been little to no news on stock updates. Millions of PS5 fans are left with nothing to do but twiddle their thumbs and wait. Meanwhile, a UK-based scalping group named CrepChiefNotify has managed to stockpile thousands of consoles and sell them to subscribers at a higher price. In an interview with Business Insider, a manager from the group mentioned how many consoles they’ve been able to stockpile. “Our total collective number is 2,472 PS5 consoles across all of our members,” he said. That’s on top of “just under 1,000” pre-orders too. But how did they manage to snag so many PS5 consoles while everyone else is struggling? Well, it all boiled down to a combination of knowing where to look in advance, monitoring website stock, and using bots. For those who don’t know, bots are essentially scripts or programs capable of adding products to the cart and completing the transaction much faster than a human can. It’s no surprise, then, that people using them will have more success in finding a console. Congratulations to our members 🎉 In less than 24 hours of the release of the PS5 and our members have secured over 2,500 consoles this morning. Stop missing out, reselling isn’t going away so jump in fast and maximise your profits. pic.twitter.com/WUTBFWNHfE— CrepChiefNotify (@CrepChiefNotify) November 20, 2020 Naturally, that means scalpers and scalper groups using bots have almost certainly contributed to the lack of stock. It’s left a bitter taste in the mouths of PS5 fans, who have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction. “Scalper group? A f**king GROUP? WHY NOT START A LEGIT GODDAMN STORE THEN?!” said one person. “Scalpers are scum, but they wouldn’t exist without people being all too willing to pay their marked-up prices on in-demand goods,” said another. It’s a call for action to stop giving scalpers business. Most people say scalping and reselling is morally wrong. They believe it’s nothing more than greed and needlessly impacts product availability. Read more: PS5 consoles are reportedly dying already – However, others insist it’s a legitimate and lucrative business model, and if you’re able to pull it off, it’s fair game. Either way, it’s become a hot topic since the PS5 launch, and unless something drastically changes, it probably won’t go away anytime soon.

  • PS5 exclusive Returnal could be coming to Steam according to new leak – Dexerto

PS5 exclusive Returnal could be coming to Steam according to new leak HousemarqueSteam could be gearing up to welcome the PlayStation 5-exclusive shooter Returnal. The database has a new entry that suggests Housemarque’s third-person title is on its way to the Steam store. Housemarque’s excellent horror roguelike game, Returnal, had a very successful launch on Sony’s PS5 and we personally felt Returnal was a must-play in our review of the PS5 exclusive. The game has been supported since release with various patches to alleviate some niggling trophy issues and add co-op multiplayer to allow a friend to join in the chaos. Now, it appears as if the next major step for Returnal is to bring the game to Steam so that more players can enjoy it’s sci-fi horror delights. Returnal reportedly heading to Steam store In the last few years, Sony has been more willing to allow PlayStation-exclusive titles to receive a PC port and Returnal may be next in line for this treatment. Triple-A games such as God of War and Horizon have already made an appearance on PC in recent memory, so it would make sense for Returnal to also come to PC. The original leak showed a Steam listing called Project “Oregon” which was suspected to be the game on PC. Now, the word Returnal has been spotted within the mystery title’s save game files, meaning that this listing is more than likely Returnal on PC. However, no formal announcement has been made as of yet, therefore take this with a pinch of salt. Yet, it seems increasingly likely that the game will be making its way to PC in the near future.

  • PS5 may finally get native Disney Plus app to enable 4K streaming – Dexerto

PS5 may finally get native Disney Plus app to enable 4K streaming Walt Disney Co.Details uncovered in the PlayStation Network’s backend suggest PS5 may finally receive a native Disney Plus app that supports 4K streaming. Disney Plus counted among the first media applications that Sony announced for the PS5 ahead of its November 2020 release. The streaming platform even has a dedicated button on PS5’s media remote. However, the app that PlayStation owners use on the newest hardware isn’t exactly up to snuff. Notably, the PS5 runs a backward-compatible version of the PS4’s Disney Plus application. And though a September 2021 update added labels to denote 4K HDR capabilities for TV shows and movies, PS5’s version of Disney Plus tops off at 1080p resolution. PSN hints at native Disney Plus app coming to PS5 Reddit user the_andshrew (via PSU) reports that a beta version of a presumed Disney Plus app for PlayStation 5 recently went live in PSN’s backend. Apparently, the entry in question bears the codename of “Vader,” hinting that a native Disney app is finally on its way to Sony’s current-gen hardware. The beta listing’s sudden appearance in the backend could point to a native application hitting the platform in the not-so-distant future. At the time of writing, however, neither Disney nor PlayStation have offered any concrete details on the matter. Since the console’s launch nearly two years ago, the Disney Plus app on PS5 has run rampant with issues. Users have reported log-in errors, loading troubles, and crashing hiccups. With that in mind, here’s to hoping a dedicated PS5 app for the streaming service would fix these errors in addition to enabling 4K output. Why it’s taking so long for Sony and Disney to sort out the matter presently remains a mystery.

  • YouTuber Austin Evans shows why you should be excited about the PS5 – Dexerto

YouTuber Austin Evans shows why you should be excited about the PS5 YT:AUSTIN EVANSWe still don’t have a release date for the PS5 or next-gen Xbox but one gaming enthusiast has decided to get their hands on the PS5 early – at least in terms of specs. While we don’t know the full details of Sony and Microsoft’s upcoming consoles, both companies have revealed specs for their respective systems. The two consoles are expected to release in the holidays of 2020, meaning we are still over a year away from their eventual launch. However, as Sony have revealed some fairly detailed specifications of the PS5, along with a subsequent leak that revealed even more detailed information, we have a good idea of how powerful those specs will be. Most of the hardware that is claimed to power the PlayStation 5 is available to buy now – albeit with a bit of tweaking. So, if the hardware is available to buy now, why wait until late 2020? That was the question Austin Evans asked himself before putting these specs together in the form of a PC. The custom-built computer enabled the popular YouTuber to find out whether the PS5 specs will live up to the hype. Specifically he tested whether the PS5 will be capable of the all the important milestone of 60 frames per second (FPS) at a 4K resolution. He also sought to find whether the hardware can handle 120 FPS as Sony have already claimed. Additionally, Sony have claimed it will be capable of 8K resolutions, although it is difficult to see this providing anything more than 30 FPS. The games that were tested were Metro Exodus, The Witcher 3 and Fortnite, although we don’t think the PS5 will have too much trouble running the popular battle royale game. However, graphical settings did need to be turned down from ultra on numerous occasions for the other games, but this was to be expected. “It is the closest look that we’ll have to the level of performance of the next generation until the end of 2020,” Evans claims. “4K at a locked 60 frame a second seems totally do-able with this next generation of consoles.” For the most part, the hardware performed better than expected, leaving Evans to conclude that the PS5 is something worth getting excited about.

  • PS4 users warned about spam messages which ‘brick’ console and force factory reset – Dexerto

PS4 users warned about spam messages which ‘brick’ console and force factory reset An exploit using the messages system on PlayStation 4 is reportedly causing some consoles to have to factory reset, if the spam message is opened. The messages contain certain specific characters, which somehow mess with the PS4’s software, forcing it be factory reset in order to work again. A factory reset clears the entirety of your data stored on the console, and so this exploit can be devastating if the necessary steps are not taken to avoid it. Some users have reported that not only opening the messages will cause the console to ‘brick’, but even just receiving the notification can be enough to carry the exploit. Reddit user u/Huntstark explains that the only way to prevent the malicious messages is to set you privacy settings to ‘Friends Only’ or ‘No One’, preventing random accounts sending messages. There is a new glitch that basically bricks your console and forces you to factory reset it. Even deleting the message from the mobile app doesn’t work. It happened to me during Rainbow Six: Siege. A player from the other team used a dummy account to send the message and crashed my entire team. We all have had to factory reset. Only one of our guys wasn’t affected and he has his messages private. It appears OpTic Gaming’s Dashy had his console bricked live on stream during a tournament, but has managed to fix the issue by doing a reset, and then making it so no one can send messages. This is a screenshot of one of the messages causing the brick: ThatPissedOffDude At the time of writing, PlayStation has not acknowledged the bug or issued a solution, so to ensure your console is safe and avoid a factory reset, we recommend changing your settings.

  • PS4 ‘trophy hunter’ breaks world record for Platinum trophies in 24 hours – Dexerto

PS4 ‘trophy hunter’ breaks world record for Platinum trophies in 24 hours A ‘professional’ PlayStation4 trophy hunting YouTuber claims to have set a new world record by completing 50 platinum trophies in under 24 hours. Many PS4 gamers will often look to challenge themselves by completing a game and all of the quirky achievements in its entirety to earn that prestigious Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 4. However, one hardcore gamer seems to have made a career out of doing so, becoming known for his gaming playthroughs and tutorials on how to achieve 100% completion on many of the most popular titles. The YouTuber, who simply goes by ‘PS4Trophies’, has amassed a massive following of over 825,000 subscribers on their channel for their guides, and decided to push things to the next level by looking to break a world record at what they do best. PS4Trophies set out on the 24-hour challenge in an attempt to complete and earn platinum trophies in 50 different games in total, which would be quite the feat for even the most hardcore gamers out there. Most will have only a handful of platinums in their lifetime of PS4 play. Surprisingly to some viewers, the YouTuber managed to smash the challenge by completing the final game, just minutes after hitting the 20-hour mark, explaining, “So I did a thing over the past 20 hours, where I played to full completion, 50 games and earned 50 Platinums.” So I did a thing over the past 20 hours, where I played to full completion, 50 games and earned 50 Platinums. Thought it’d be much easier than it was but with the community really pulled me through and this is dedicated to them. Check out the profile, https://t.co/GgoCu8LBzc — Brian English 🏆 (@PS5Trophies_) December 15, 2019 Despite completing the challenge well within the limit which was set, Ps4Trophies revealed that it was much more difficult then they had originally anticipated it to be. “Thought it’d be much easier than it was but with the community really pulled me through and this is dedicated to them.” The full 20 hour stream was broadcasted live on their YouTube channel, and is fast approaching 50,000 views. In order to accomplish this challenge, they avoided some of the more time-consuming games, such as Death Stranding, which would likely take weeks to achieve platinum trophies by themselves. Instead, they focused on some of the shorter games that were available on the PlayStation store, earning each platinum trophy in as short as 5 minutes or up to 40 minutes long, depending on the title. Regardless, managing to complete so many games in such a short amount of time is still incredibly impressive and it is likely that it required a lot of concentration and muscle memory to overcome such a challenge.

  • PS4 and PS5 consoles are getting rid of Twitter/X integration – Dexerto

PS4 and PS5 consoles are getting rid of Twitter/X integration Twitter/X, SonySony will soon remove Twitter/X integration from PS4 and PS5, which means sharing screenshots and gameplay straight from the consoles will be a thing of the past. Since the PS4 era, sharing screenshots and gameplay clips directly from the console to Twitter has been a staple for many players. But this simple and effective way of uploading content received a blow earlier this year when Microsoft removed the functionality from Xbox hardware. Most notably, the move came in the months following Elon Musk’s takeover and rebranding of the popular social media platform. Twitter’s recent implementation of pricey API fees for third-party developers contributed to the decision to axe integration from Microsoft-branded consoles. In one week’s time, Sony will be following suit. Sony is removing Twitter/X integration from PS4 and PS5 consoles As spotted by Wario64, PlayStation is slowly rolling out notifications to account users about an upcoming PlayStation Communities change. According to the message, starting on November 13, 2023, PlayStation owners will no longer be able to share content from their consoles to Twitter/X. The notification reads in part: “This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4.” Similar to how Xbox users can still share content from the Xbox App, PlayStation players will be able to share whatever they like straight from the PS App. But the days of automatically marking a screenshot with #PS5Share will soon be long gone. Fan responses seem to range from disappointment to confusion that such functionality existed in the first place. Wrote one user beneath the Wario64 post, “They cooked this app and now we can’t post any clips or highlights, thanks Elon.” A similar comment reads, “Another L from Elon.” Needless to say, this marks another blow to the usability of what many once considered the favored social media app.

  • PS4 players furious after “garbage” 8.00 update records Party Chats – Dexerto

PS4 players furious after “garbage” 8.00 update records Party Chats PixabayPlayStation 4’s 8.00 update has caused widespread backlash after Sony revealed that are allowing players to record and report Party Chat conversations in certain situations. The new PS4 patch has also broken friends lists for many users, rendering it unusable. [jwplayer hRlzg0BA] Sony rolled out the major 8.00 update for the PS4 on October 14, and PlayStation fans were shocked when the publisher announced some major changes to the popular system. Not only are users reporting broken friends lists, it also seems as though the company is allowing players to record and send in Party Chat conversations for “moderation.” The move immediately sparked outrage on social media from owners of the console. PS4 players outraged over 8.00 update While Sony has always moderated messages, it appears with the new 8.00 update they will now allow players to record Party Chats to report wrongdoings to them for safety purposes. Private events and Communities have also been removed. The large software revision sparked backlash shortly after going live on October 14. Users also have began to report issues with friends lists, with some saying that it’s lagged out the feature on their console, or simply doesn’t work at all – instead, showing a WS-44369-6 error in its place. As is common with this type of thing, fans took to social media to air their outrage. “PS4’s Firmware update 8.00 is a horrible step backwards. Private parties are dead, they killed communities and you’re basically no longer allowed to be on your own or in private with your friends,” one person said. “Hot garbage. Give us back our features.” PS4’s Firmware update 8.00 is a horrible step backwards. Private parties are dead, they killed communities and you’re basically no longer allowed to be on your own or in private with your friends. Hot garbage. Give us back our features @PlayStation — Gtamen (@Gtamen) October 14, 2020 The system update has also reportedly slowed down the console for some, with players reporting lagging and longer loading times when clicking on the Party menu and the PS Store. “lmao so playstation literally took away everyone’s privacy and slowed down the ps4 with one update, they do aim to please,” one user commented. “can’t even load my bloody friends list.” Despite the backlash from some players, not everyone was angry about the update. Users also praised the patch as it finally brought enhanced 2-step verification, new avatars, and the option to mute all microphones. Still, the wording of Sony’s new policy on party chat moderation has sparked confusion and anger from owners who don’t want their voice recorded. 8.0’s buggy launch also doesn’t seem to have helped.

  • PS4 hits insane sales milestone with Xbox One still far behind – Dexerto

PS4 hits insane sales milestone with Xbox One still far behind Sony have revealed that their PlayStation 4 console, first released in 2013, has now surpassed 91 million units sold, while Microsoft’s Xbox One reportedly lags behind by over half that figure. Sony’s impressive sales figures were boosted by a successful holiday period, which saw a further 5.6 million units sold worldwide, bringing the total to 91.6 million sold-through units. Also impressive is the performance of PS4 exclusive titles, like Marvel’s Spider-Man, which has passed 9 million units sold – a mammoth number for a console exclusive released only four months ago. For consoles, the Xbox One is of second in the current gen standings, but according to a report from VGChartz, Microsoft’s offering is estimated to have sold only 40 million units. As is common for the second placed console, Microsoft has not announced any official figures at the end of 2018, but these estimates give us some indication of just how much catching up they have to do. In terms of games, over 50 million copies were sold in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, bringing the total for the console’s five-year run to 876 million PS4 games sold. John Kodera, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, thanked PS4 players for their support, and also confirmed that nearly all of those unit sales translate to active PSN members, with a total of 90 million at the end of November 2018. “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our passionate community around the globe, and our partners, for helping us achieve these milestones. This year, we will bring more enhanced experiences to our fans along with a highly anticipated lineup of games that are only possible on PS4.” Of course, not all of those users are paying PS ‘Plus’ members, but the number is impressive nonetheless. For comparison, in July 2018, Xbox Live had 57 million users. The PlayStation 4 is now the 4th best selling, non-handheld, console of all time. The PlayStation 2 is top of that list with 155 million units sold. In 2019, the PS4 will almost certainly smash through the 100 million mark, with even more exclusives on the way like Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, Days Gone and the headliner – The Last of Us 2. There are also rumors that a PlayStation 5 will be at least teased at some point in 2019. Source: PR Newswire

  • PS4 emulator makes incredible early progress with 3D games running – Dexerto

PS4 emulator makes incredible early progress with 3D games running The PS4 emulator, fpPS4, has entered version 0.01 – and even this early in development, it is showing signs of massive progress. Emulation is a grey area, with developers coming together worldwide to ensure that the preservation or access to games remains open. Even after consoles and accessibility vanish from the world, it seems that projects like fpPS4 intend to keep the flame alive. A new video from GAMER RPCS3, a fan of the PlayStation 3 emulator, demonstrates a new launcher and other progress made in version 0.01 by the developers of fpPS4. The launcher is a separate project, allowing users to easily boot up games for the emulator, while the actual project is made by three individuals on Github. While the footage appears to make out that a lot of games are broken, this is an incredible showing for something still in its early days. Emulators like RPCS3 and Xenia – an Xbox 360 emulator – have been around far longer, and still require a lot of work for certain titles. What games can fpPS4 play? In the video, GAMER RPCS3 takes us through a few smaller titles, both 3D and 2D. The 2D titles, like RetroMania Wrestling, appear to be running smoothly, albeit with a few glitches. Other titles, like Farming Simulator and World of West, run poorly, but the fact that they are launching and displaying is a massive feat in itself. The current status of the PS4 emulator As of right now, the 0.01 update includes support for any X-Input controller (this means Xbox and other PC controllers), as well as fullscreen support. The games compatibility list is currently 19 pages of nothing, but out of 33 pages of games, it’s still a wildly impressive feat to achieve this early on in development. A lot of games that are currently listed as loading up and playable also require a ton of work to get going. However, this is currently listed at 31 games that will launch and be playable in some state. For context, RPCS3 launched back in 2011 and has only just cleared its non-booting compatibility list. While fpPS4 will probably be in a state of flux for years to come, with at least a decade before it, too, hits the same level of compatibility. The monstrous power that these emulators require is not to be understated. To achieve the performance in the video, the specs on the machine feature an RTX 2070, 32GB of RAM, and an i9-9900K. Although these are older parts, it’s still more overhead than will probably be needed in the long run for 720p gameplay once the PS4 emulator hits its stride. The Steam Deck has become a lot of people’s staple retro gaming machine at this point, with things like the Raspberry Pi and other single-board computers taking up the vast majority of the market. While you won’t see a Steam Deck play a copy of Bloodborne any time soon, a Steam Deck 3 or 4 could potentially be your portable PS4-locked exclusive machine.

  • PS3 was played more than Xbox Series X/S in 2022 – Dexerto

PS3 was played more than Xbox Series X/S in 2022 Microsoft, SonyAccording to data from HowLongToBeat, PS3 outranked the Xbox Series X/S in 2022 in terms of most-played consoles. The infamous Sony hubris may have plagued PlayStation 3 throughout much of the seventh console generation, but the hardware still performed well on the global market. Sony moved over 87 million units, narrowly beating out the Xbox 360 at approximately 84 million units sold. The PS3 continues to truck along, too, with new data suggesting it remains a fan-favorite platform. Said data even indicates that it’s slightly favored above the latest Xbox-branded hardware from Microsoft. More people played PS3 in 2022 than Xbox Series X/S HowLongToBeat recently compiled a year-in-review list for 2022 that details the year’s “most-played platforms.” Unsurprisingly, PC sits atop the list at number one; PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox One round out the top five in that order. However, the PS3 appears at number six, one rank above the Xbox Series X/S. As such, it seems hardware from two generations ago received more play time than Microsoft’s newer machines. It’s worth noting that HowLongToBeat’s stats were derived from user-submitted data on the HowLongToBeat website. The above data doesn’t constitute an exact representation of the general console-playing audience, then. Still, it’s interesting that even in one community spanning multiple console generations, the PS3 managed to outrank Xbox Series with respect to playtime. That should change in the next 12 months, however. Should all go according to plan, Xbox has quite the stacked lineup for the year, with exclusives including Starfield, Redfall, and Stalker 2 on the docket. Starfield, in particular, remains on track for a launch sometime in the first half of 2023.

April saw the addition of Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated and Hood: Outlaws and Legends, but PS Plus is also getting a huge overhaul in June as part of “Spartacus.” So here are the PS Plus offerings for May 2022, signaling the end of PS Plus in its current format. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, little needs to be said about the addition of FIFA 22. The successful football simulation game continues to maintain its stranglehold over the sporting realm and making it free will open it up to a wider audience. • PS Plus glitch means Tekken 2 will cost you over $13,000 – Dexerto

PS Plus glitch means Tekken 2 will cost you over $13,000 NAMCOTekken 2 is one of the headline PS1 classics that has arrived as part of the revamped PS Plus service, and it seems like Sony values the game highly as its standalone price exceeds $13,000. Due to the success of Xbox Game Pass, a reworking of Sony’s PlayStation Plus service was always on the cards, and the update is now in full effect with the PS Plus subscription service consisting of three different paid tiers. The top tier is PS Plus Premium which entitles gamers to all the usual benefits of PS Plus, plus access to a selection of PS4 and PS5 games, as well as classic games from the PS1, PSP, and more. Tekken is one of the much-heralded franchises from the PlayStation 1’s early days, yet Sony’s valuation of Tekken 2 as a separate purchase seems to be slightly on the pricey side. Tekken 2 could cost you $13,000 on PS Plus Clearly, something has gone awry behind the scenes at Sony to allow this craziness to happen, but that appears to be the case. We’ve known for some time now that if you’re keen on PS1 classics, but aren’t willing to shell out for a monthly or yearly subscription to PS Plus Premium, then you’ll be able to buy games individually. What players didn’t bank on was Sony selling games such as Tekken 2 for roughly 200 times their original RRP! In some cases, players have managed to capture the digital price of Tekken 2 selling for even more money — $13,000 to be precise. Twitter user Dusty Mac shared a screenshot of the game’s price, potentially in Canadian Dollars based on the user’s profile and location, and it shows the mind-boggling figure. Downpayment for a house or Tekken 2? pic.twitter.com/BtdR7T6s07 — Dusty Mac (@dustinmac1993) June 13, 2022 The news has well and truly caught the attention of Twitter, in particular, the current Director of the Tekken fighting game franchise Katsuhiro Harada who said: “WHAT A MARVELOUS PRICE SONY.” We’d have to believe that this is nothing more than a typo, or a price test on Sony’s end that hasn’t been reset to what the game’s digital RRP should be. If you’re keen on purchasing Tekken 2 from PS Plus, we’d recommend waiting until Sony has rectified its mistake.

  • Prosecutors claims man had “Agent 47 Hitman fantasy” amid murder trial in the UK – Dexerto

Prosecutors claims man had “Agent 47 Hitman fantasy” amid murder trial in the UK IO InteractiveA man in the UK is on trial for the alleged murder of his housemate which prosecutors claim may have been motivated by a “bizarre fantasy” of being Agent 47 from the Hitman games. A murder was recently committed in Botley, Oxfordshire in the UK with Eugene Coman now accused of killing his flatmate. However, it doesn’t appear to have been just an ordinary murder, as prosecutors claim the man was either acting out an “Agent 47 Hitman Fantasy” or was driven by “good old fashioned sexual jealousy.” Coman is accused of stabbing his flatmate, Leonid Laboshin, in the kitchen of their shared home. He confessed to committing the crime, but claimed he was not doing it in his right mind. Admitting manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. As reported by the Oxford Mail, a murder trial opened at the Oxford Crown Court on February 28, with prosecutor Charles Ward-Jackson presiding over the case. He said, “the prosecution says there are really two competing motives for the killing. “One is what one might call good old fashioned sexual jealousy; the cause of many killings since Helen of Troy and no doubt before that.” The victim, Laboshin, had allegedly been courting another housemate of theirs who he was interested in. Or a second possible motivation, according to the prosecutor, was Coman’s “bizarre fantasy” around Agent 47, the titular character of the Hitman franchise. The jury was told that Coman had made a number of internet searches about the ruthless assassin prior to the event. The day before the alleged murder, he reportedly convinced his brother to shave his hair, seemingly as to resemble Agent 47. When the murder was committed on October 17 2022, he was wearing a black suit, white shirt, and tie when he was arrested. This happens to be the trademark costume for the contract killer. The prosecutor described it as a “rather unusual outfit for killing.” Mr. Ward-Jackson continued, “There is evidence on the defendant’s computer that he admired and sought to emulate this rather unsuitable role model.” This is not Coman’s first instance of violence which the jury was told of. A year and a half before the killing, he had allegedly pistol-whipped a property manager who was chasing him for unpaid rent. Coman denies the murder charge, and the trial continues.

  • Project Mugen: All confirmed characters – Dexerto

Project Mugen: All confirmed characters NAKED RAINProject Mugen is a brand new open-world anime game that looks to rival the likes of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. So, to get you up to speed, here are all the confirmed playable characters in the game so far. Anime-style gacha games are ruling the mobile gaming market right now with the hugely popular Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact being the most beloved. While HoYoverse is undoubtedly sitting on the gacha throne, there are other studios working on projects every day, and Project Mugen is shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles. Coming from NetEase and NAKED RAIN, Project Mugen is an open-world RPG set in a vibrant urban city that will feature plenty of characters for players to control and meet during their adventures. Here’s a full rundown of every confirmed playable character in Project Mugen so far. Contents All confirmed characters in Project Mugen There have been a total of 5 playable characters confirmed in Project Mugen so far, however being a gacha title, we’re sure this roster will expand greatly once the game is released. After all, being able to acquire new fighters is one of the most compelling parts of any gacha game. Taffy Taffy is a young kid who’s extremely laid-back and likes to make jokes most of the time, even in dangerous situations. She’s an expert at riding her bike which can turn into a trusty hammer in battle and can hit enemies with a nice chunk of damage. She also boosts her powers in combat by downing an energy drink. Bansy Bansy may look young but from the brief clips we’ve seen of her so far in Project Mugen’s first trailer, she can definitely hold her own in a fight. Her weapon of choice appears to be a firearm as well as grenades, so that suggests Taffy could be an adept long-ranged fighter in the game. Alan Alan is a tall blonde character who appeared very briefly in the Project Mugen trailer. From the footage we’ve seen so far, it’s clear that Alan’s weapon of choice is yo-yo-like tools that he uses to attack enemies. He also appears to be extremely agile and flexible during combat. Mechanika Very little is known about Mechanika so far, as unlike the other characters, we didn’t get a look at her gameplay during the game’s trailer. Based on her name, appearance, and the fact she has a little robot friend, we’re assuming Mechanika might be a promising mechanic in the world of Project Mugen. Dila Dila wields a large sword in combat as her primary weapon. She seems to be the most elusive and mysterious character so far, but there’s a chance she could play a very important role in the main story. There you have it, those are all the confirmed characters in Project Mugen so far. Why not check out our free to play and crossplay guides for the game while you’re here?

  • Project L fans beg Riot to revert new 2XKO name – Dexerto

Project L fans beg Riot to revert new 2XKO name Riot GamesProject L has been a much-anticipated title since it was announced considering Riot’s rich history with competitive, esports-oriented titles. However, the name being officially revealed as 2XKO has left fans of the game scratching their heads. Since it was shown in 2019, the hype behind Project L has steadily built as the devs have drip fed new information about the fighting game. It’s been playable at a few events so far, and those who have played it came away with positive impressions. Additionally, we now have an actual release window: 2025. It’s a pretty broad and non-specific window, but a window nonetheless. Along with that news came the game’s official name: 2XKO. While people who were fans of Project L are still excited to get their hands on 2XKO, the response from potential players has been almost universally negative, with many players just sticking to Project L for now. 2XKO name doesn’t go over well with Project L fans Project L was always meant to be a temporary name for the League of Legends fighting game, one that was borne from a time where Riot Games were working on a bunch of different projects for new games outside of just League of Legends. However, due to the game’s lengthy development cycle, that Project name stuck around much longer than it was likely meant to. It’s not overly surprising that people who have been calling 2XKO by Project L for years are hesitant to call it by a new name. Even with that in mind, response from fans of Project L to 2XKO’s new name has been negative. Those who were excited for Project L have largely agreed to stick to that name rather than 2XKO, claiming that the new name is a huge downgrade. What’s more, people are confused as to how they’re even supposed to pronounce it. It stands for Double Knockout, but people are confused about whether they’re supposed to say double knockout in full, or if there’s an abbreviated pronunciation. Fortunately, they’ve made a little graphic that explains it’s pronounced exactly how it looks. The negative response to the name has been so immediate and universal that Executive Producer Tom Cannon has addressed it directly, claiming that he loves the final name they’ve landed on. Though, he also conceded that “naming is hard“. Ultimately, it seems that many players have chosen to ignore the new name and opt to keep calling it Project L rather than 2XKO. It’s still possible that the new name grows on people over time, but, for now, it seems that the Project L moniker will be a hard one to shake.

  • Project L fighting game introduces duo play, demo playable at EVO 2023 – Dexerto

Project L fighting game introduces duo play, demo playable at EVO 2023 Riot GamesRiot Games announced that its eagerly-anticipated fighting game, Project L, will feature a duo play system and appear EVO 2023. Riot originally unveiled the League of Legends fighting game during EVO 2019. Codenamed Project L, the fighter was built around a 2v2 combat system meant to shake up the genre’s status quo. While Riot hasn’t shared the full list of playable characters as of yet, the confirmed roster features the following: Ahri, Darius, Ekko, Jinx, Katarina, and Illaoi. The studio’s latest update about the project teases that even more details sit on the horizon. Most notably, a new character and a playable demo will soon take center stage. LoL fighting game Project L is coming to EVO 2023 The crew at Riot Games confirmed that Project L will return for this year’s EVO festivities. Those who attend can expect the studio to bring a playable demo featuring four characters – Ahri, Darius, Ekko, and a new champion. That’s right: In addition to a playable demo, Project L’s EVO appearance will also include a new champion reveal. While the fighting game event starts August 3 and ends on August 6, the following post indicates Project L will only stick around from August 4-5. On top of confirming its EVO 2023 plans, Riot additionally uploaded a dev diary centered around Project L’s duo play feature. Executive Producer Tom Cannon noted that “Project L isn’t just a tag-based fighting game.” He continued, “it’s a 2v2 team-based fighting game,” allowing teams comprising two players to face off against each other. So one player will control one champion while their buddy pilots another, meaning Project L is an experience that users can play with and against their friends. According to Game Director Shaun Rivera, duo play works similarly to tag-team wrestling. One user fights on the main stage; their teammate waits off-screen until their partner tags them in. Better still, Project L supports several types of matchups – 1v1, 2v2, and 2v1. The latter matchup means solo players can expect to join tag-team battles and control both playable characters on their own. Project L won’t likely become available as a wide release for a few more years, but EVO 2023 attendees have plenty to look forward to come August.

  • Stellar Blade: Release date, demo, trailers & platforms – Dexerto

Stellar Blade: Release date, demo, trailers & platforms SHIFT UP CorporationFormally known as Project Eve, Stellar Blade is an upcoming action RPG that looks like Bayonetta meets Dark Souls. From its confirmed release date, demo, and trailers, here’s everything we know about Stellar Blade so far. Stellar Blade is a hack-and-slash action-adventure game being developed by Korean studio Shift Up and was revealed during the PlayStation Showcase event in 2021. Before this, the game had been rumored since 2020 but unconfirmed. The title was originally revealed under the name Project Eve, but this was changed to Stellar Blade in 2022. The game shares a lot of similarities with titles like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, but its aesthetic looks a lot like something out of a Souls game, especially Soulslikes such as Code Vein. However, the action looks a lot more frantic than the methodical duels of the Souls series. With Stellar Blade now nearing its release, here’s the full rundown on everything we know about the highly anticipated title. Contents Does Stellar Blade have a release date? – What platforms will Stellar Blade be on? – Stellar Blade demo – Trailers – Gameplay and style – Plot and character details – Does Stellar Blade have a release date? Stellar Blade is officially set to launch on Friday, April 26, 2024. This date was locked in during Sony’s most recent State of Play event. Although the game was announced years prior, even with a 2023 release window as the initial target, a concrete date wasn’t confirmed until the start of 2024. What platforms will Stellar Blade be on? The game has been confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive. However, that wasn’t always the case. Its original announcement also listed Xbox consoles and PC at the time. On PS5, the developers have said that Stellar Blade will “take full advantage” of the DualSense controllers’ haptic feedback and the console’s graphical capabilities. Stellar Blade demo A gameplay demo for Stellar Blade will be available for fans to download on the PlayStation Store from March 29, 2024, at 7am PDT / 2pm GMT. The demo is set to take place at the start of the game when Eve is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba. You’ll get to experience the early stages of the game including the first boss fight. According to the official PlayStation Blog, there’s also a “little surprise included for players who complete the first stage.” Fans will also be pleased to know that any progress made in the demo will carry over into the full release of Stellar Blade when the game launches on April 26, 2024. Stellar Blade: Trailers PlayStation Showcase 2021: Gameplay Trailer There was so much in the original Stellar Blade (Project Eve) trailer that it took us multiple viewings to digest it all. At first glance, the title looked like something Platinum Games would develop. However, upon closer inspection, we spotted DNA from various genres and franchises. Eve was fighting zombie-like mutant enemies known as NA:tives, and the trailer showed off some impressive locations and combat sequences. Many of which would be at home in a recent Final Fantasy title. Our latest deep dive came during the January 31, 2024 State of Play event where a roughly six-minute overview delved into everything from story to gameplay to customization. Finally, a 30-second demo teaser was released on March 25, 2023, that gave fans a look at what they can expect during the game’s playable demo. Gameplay and style The protagonist, Eve, reminded us of Bayonetta, although the art style was decidedly different from Capcom’s series despite the similarities in gameplay. Stellar Blade is aiming for a more photoreal, if not slightly anime, design. Yet, one that’s a world away from Bayonetta’s over-the-top stylishness. Stellar Blade also appeared to channel the Souls games at times during the trailer, or at least the games they inspired, such as Code Vein and From Software’s own Bloodborne. The timing of strikes looks to be important, rather than the game being simply a mindless hack-and-slasher. Plot and character details Eve exists in a post-apocalyptic world, one in which alien monsters appear to be growing around space stations. The trailer suggests that Eve uses a subway system to move around but regularly needs to defend herself against invading NA:tives. There also appears to be someone giving Eve instructions, alluding to a wider cast of characters. For more new release guides, check out all we know about the following games:

  • 4 things we now know about Project Athia – Dexerto

4 things we now know about Project Athia Project Athia promises to wow players with its breathtaking visuals and thrilling combat system, creating a truly next-gen worthy experience. Here’s everything you need to know about Square Enix’s upcoming fantasy game. The PS5 Future Games Show proved to be a huge hit and there were plenty of game announcements to be excited about. While games like Resident Evil 8 and Demon’s Souls received the biggest fan reactions, there were a number of new titles that will have had fans extremely excited for the next-gen future. One of these games was Project Athia. Square Enix’s upcoming fantasy title looks stunningly beautiful, but its recent teaser trailer left us with a lot of questions. While information surrounding the upcoming fantasy title may be scarce, we’ve managed to round up all the information we currently know. Project Athia is being developed by a new studio Project Athia is actually the first game from Square Enix’s newly established studio, Luminous Productions. This ambitious entity was originally founded in April 2018, by the Square Enix Group, so very little is known about them. However, we do know that Luminous is currently developing new games using its internally-developed Luminous Engine. This new engine is primarily focused on creating ultrarealistic environments through the use of ray tracing, advanced lighting technologies, and state-of-the-art game AI. It all sounds incredibly promising and while Luminous Productions has yet to give us a full gameplay breakdown of their upcoming title, the latest teaser trailer has us wanting more. Project Athia is coming to both PS5 and PC Unlike previous Square Enix projects, the upcoming title is being developed simultaneously for both PS5 and PC. However, judging from the Final Fantasy developer’s past titles, it’s likely PC fans will be able to download the game through Steam. As of writing, there has been no official statement on whether Xbox fans will be able to get their hands on Project Athia, but there have been a number of Square Enix published games that have eventually made their way to the console – after all, Nier Automata launched a whole year later on the Xbox One. We have yet to receive an official release date from the developers, so don’t be too be surprised if we don’t get any major Project Athia news for a few years yet. Project Athia is a working title Project Athia will most likely change its name upon release – in fact, we could even see it being rebranded as an entirely different game altogether. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time Square Enix announced a game, only for it to be delayed multiple times. Let’s just hope the upcoming title doesn’t get caught in another 10-year development nightmare like Final Fantasy XV. There’s an emphasis on elemental combat We got major Control vibes when watching the Project Athia teaser trailer, especially when the protagonist conjured roots from the very ground beneath her. She then proceeds to ensnare a pack of wolf-like creatures, seemingly crushing the life out of them with tremendous force. It’s likely players will be able to use the surrounding environment to their advantage, especially when using the main character’s supernatural abilities. Just like Control, we expect to have plenty of unique ways to kill our foes. The main character also appears to be incredibly agile as she can be seen effortlessly running and leaping over rocky cliffs, suggesting that there could be various platforming elements present. Movement has always been an incredibly important factor when making a character feel powerful, so we hope Project Athia blends this into the game’s combat. Lastly, it appears the game may have teased two potential boss fights. A beholder-like creature can be spotted in the trailer’s forest section, while the closing sequence showcases a gigantic dragon smashing its way through a burning castle. Whether players will get to fight these monsters in the final release is just speculation, but we do expect that vanquishing various monolithic beast’s will be a big part of Project Athia’s core gameplay.

  • Project 007: Everything we know so far – Dexerto

Project 007: Everything we know so far IO InteractiveIO Interactive, developer and publisher of the legendary Hitman franchise, is working on a new James Bond title codenamed Project 007. With the last significant James Bond game launching in 2012, it’s fair to say the IP is ready for a refresh and a brand new title to bring it back to life. Luckily for us, IO Interactive, developer of the Hitman games, has picked up the mantle and revealed they’re working on a Bond game codenamed Project 007. Contents Is there a Project 007 release date? – Is there a Project 007 trailer? – Do we know what is Project 007 about? – Are there any details on platforms? – Is there a Project 007 release date? No, as the game is still within its early stages of development, IO Interactive is yet to reveal a confirmed release date for Project 007. The studio is still even actively searching for new employees for the title. No doubt the game studio will be looking to refresh the bond IP with a polished and impressive gameplay experience for players. To achieve that, the title will need a long-time in development, especially because now it will need to be made for the next-generation of consoles. It’s obvious the studio has ambitious goals for this project as they’re planning on expanding their workforce of 200 employees to over 400 during the game’s development. It’s unlikely we’ll see the game release until at least 2022 or perhaps more likely, 2023. Players who are looking to keep up with all the latest development updates can sign up for a newsletter here on the game’s website. Is there a Project 007 trailer? While there is no trailer for Project 007 as of yet, there is a teaser trailer that was released in November 2020. It’s fair to say that this didn’t reveal much about the game, with it simply confirming that the studio was indeed developing a Bond game and successfully got fans of the studio extremely excited. Although the teaser trailer doesn’t provide us with much information, hearing the bond theme is enough to get any fan of the old games hyped for the upcoming title’s release. Do we know what is Project 007 about? We don’t have many details about the narrative of Project 007 at this time as IO Interactive has remained silent since the release of the game’s teaser trailer. IO Interactive has made it very clear they’re invested in the Bond IP for the long haul, in an interview with DR.dk, also Abrak revealed that he “could easily imagine that a trilogy could come out of it.” Are there any details on platforms? No, there are currently no details as to which platforms Project 007 could release on. That being said, we’re expecting Project 007 to launch on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s unlikely in two years’ time that game developers will still be releasing titles onto the previous generation of consoles, so the game will likely not be playable on the PS4 and Xbox One. Of course, it’s always possible the game is released as an exclusive title, but as IO Interactive hasn’t commented on the game’s platforms, it’s difficult to tell for now. • Pro wrestler works Nintendo Switch into his gimmick and it’s amazing – Dexerto

Pro wrestler works Nintendo Switch into his gimmick and it’s amazing Paige Watchey PhotographyThe Nintendo Switch played a big part in pro wrestler Big Game Leroy’s recent match; needless to say, it made for an interesting gimmick. A wrestler since his teenage years, Leroy Green, aka Big Game Leroy, started making a name for himself several years ago. Like most wrestlers, though, standing out among the rest of the crowd proved a challenge. Thus, Big Game Leroy adopted nerd culture as his gimmick, using a passion for gaming and anime to attract the audience’s attention. And, so far, it’s worked wonders for his career. But there’s one schtick, in particular, that warrants special praise. Pro wrestler brings his Nintendo Switch into the ring Footage of a wrestling match featuring Big Game Leroy (via DS Ring the Belle) recently made the rounds on Twitter, thanks in large part to the Nintendo Switch. The wrestler spends much of his time during the bout with a Switch in hand, taking on AI opponents while simultaneously battling a real one. Better still, Big Game Leroy’s outfit even matches the look of the handheld with neon pink and neon green Joy-Cons. It’s truly a sight worth seeing. The pro wrestler noted in a follow-up post that he’s used the Nintendo Switch schtick multiple times. On one occasion, Big Game Leroy even hit pause on an opponent mid-match. Though some assumed Animal Crossing served as Big Game Leroy’s game of choice, since he’d need to focus while competing, the wrestler actually brought Super Smash Bros. into the ring. Evidently, the gimmick runs much deeper than anyone could’ve guessed. It should be interesting for wrestling fans to see how else the concept evolves as time goes on.

  • Pro-union activists at the Game Awards “intimidated” by police to enter “Free Speech Zone” – Dexerto

Pro-union activists at the Game Awards “intimidated” by police to enter “Free Speech Zone” Game Workers of SoCal | TwitterPro-union activists with the Game Workers Alliance were reportedly “intimidated” by police while picketing outside the Game Awards 2022, with a claim of a ‘Labor Creates Games’ pin being taken away by security and a reported attempt to stick activists in the so-called “Free Speech Zone.” The Game Awards broke viewership records with over 3.4 million viewers at its peak, getting more eyes on video games and the people who make them than ever before. Jessica Gonzalez, an organizer of the Game Workers Alliance and the founder of the ABetterABK movement, was picketing alongside other activists outside of the Game Awards with signs that read ‘The Game Worker Awards’ and buttons that read ‘Labor Makes Games’ to spread their message. Dexerto interviewed Jessica to ask about her experience at the event and some details about her interaction with the police and security at the Game Awards. Pro-union protesters put in the “free speech zone” According to Gonzalez’s account of the evening, those picketing in front of the event had the police called on them by event security. This resulted in an interaction with the LAPD, one that Gonzalez detailed in Dexerto’s interview with her. “Going into the event, we consulted with LAPD’s labor division and a lawyer. We knew that we were legally protected to hold our informational picket outside of the venue where we were. It was public property, but security didn’t want us there (we looked bad for business, I guess), so they tried to intimidate us away by grabbing the LAPD and saying that this was a private event. We asserted our rights, and they said they’d be back to construct the Free Speech Zone in 20 minutes.” The third picture in this tweet shows the group having a run-in with the LAPD, and the fourth picture shows the aforementioned “Free Speech Zone” set up for those picketing at the event. Gonzalez claimed she and the other attending activists ignored it and remained outside the entrance. “We were allowed to be outside of the entrance. They had to concede and deal with the fact that we had rights and not what they wanted us to have for rights.” Additionally, there was a report from an attendee by the name of Ellie having their pin confiscated by security upon trying to enter the Game Awards. We asked Gonzalez if she could shed any light on this event. “I was made aware of one incident where a developer was given a pin and then walked inside, the security told her that he couldn’t let her inside with that (pointing to the pin she just put on), and she had to toss it in the bin. That was the only incident I am aware of, and I think it’s because the security guard saw us give it to her.” That said, Gonzalez hadn’t heard about any other incidents involving the removal of ‘Labor Makes Games’ buttons and claimed that other developers entered without issue. “I heard more devs made it into the venue wearing the pins proudly. As long as devs were showing solidarity with the pins ‘Labor Creates Games,’ I had no complaints, even if security was being childish.” When asked why security at the Game Awards would want to remove pro-union messaging from the event, she had this to say: “This event usually only highlights the executives and not the rank-and-file workers. Unions are scary to companies because they’ve gotten their millions in bonuses from wage theft. Of course, they don’t want labor unions telling developers they have rights.”

Pro racer uses NASCAR GameCube move IRL to secure championship spot YouTube: LongplayArchive/Twitter: NASCARProfessional racecar driver Ross Chastain has gone viral after using an incredible move he learned from a NASCAR game on the Nintendo GameCube to secure his spot in the Cup Series Championship. Dubbed the “Championship 4,” Cup Series drivers Joey Logano, Chase Elliot, Christopher Bell, and Ross Chastain are set to go against each other on November 6, 2022. While three of the four drivers secured their spot rather uneventfully, Ross Chastain’s method of qualifying has gone a bit viral after performing a move that he says he learned from a NASCAR game on GameCube. Pro racer uses incredible NASCAR GameCube move IRL During the October 30 race at Martinsville Speedway, NASCAR Cup Series driver Ross Chastain shocked fans as he “fully committed” the infamous wall-ride action that gamers worldwide have likely performed. He managed to pass several cars to secure his spot in the NASCAR Championship 4 on November 6, 2022, a move that was labeled as “incredible” in another tweet. Another user said: “Well, he was right about one thing. It was a childish move.” However, a third argued: “It worked phenomenally, get rekt nerd.”

Princess Peach: Showtime!: All costumes & transformations NintendoPrincess Peach: Showtime allows the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom to gain power-ups from her costumes. Princess Peach can also do this in some games where she appears alongside Mario, changing clothes and her power set. Princess Peach: Showtime puts her in the starring role, and much like the Mario games, she’ll be gaining new powers alongside a change of outfits. She’ll need them as she faces a new foe: Grape and the Sour Bunch. Nintendo has been revealing more and more of her transformations before the game’s launch on March 22. These are all the costumes and outfits revealed for Princess Peach: Showtime. She also has stages where she rides a horse, chasing down enemies in wild west-themed stages. Dashing Thief Peach Princess Peach seems to have joined Persona 5’s Phantom Thieves of Heart, as this transformation turns her into a masked thief. Dashing Thief Peach can hang from railings and use a grappling hook to reach new areas, while avoiding nasty robots. Detective Peach Detective Peach takes the magnifying glass from Pikachu and gets to work as a sleuth. She can track footprints and question suspects in this outfit, like a Phoenix Wright game. It’s unclear if she gains any combat powers in this garb or whether it’s saved for story segments. Figure Skater Peach The obligatory ice level is returning in Princess Peach Showtime, but this time, she’ll be ready, as Figure Skater Peach can easily maneuver across the frozen floor. She also has a spin attack for dealing with foes, as well as trapping them in a deadly dance move. Kung Fu Peach Having grown weary of royal society, Kung Fu Peach decides she will kick and punch enemies in the face. In this form, she can swing from poles to perform attacks with a wide radius and is seen leaping from platform to platform. Mermaid Peach Fan artists and cosplayers of the world have been given a great gift, as there’s now a Mermaid Peach. Instead of controlling her directly, the player will use Mermaid Peach’s singing voice to command a school of fish, which can move through underwater stages. Mighty Peach Princess Peach is finally entering the superhero genre, with the power of her Mighty Peach form. When utilizing her Mighty Peach power-up, Princess Peach gains super strength, allowing her to throw big objects across the stage. She also has flying levels, where she gets to clobber aliens with her mighty fists. Ninja Peach Ninja Peach allows her to channel her inner Naruto, as she gains the ability to sneak through tall grass and perform stealth kills on unsuspecting enemies. That’s right, there’s a Mario game where Princess Peach performs stealth kills. She can also perform wall jumps to reach higher stages. Patisserie Peach Taking a leaf out of Kirby’s book, Patissiere Peach will be baking cakes in this outfit. This costume seems restricted to minigame stages, as she’s seen decorating desserts with a giant pastry tool rather than running around levels. Swordfighter Peach With a rapier in hand, Swordfighter Peach can stab through enemies like a Musketeer. In this form, she can perform a rising sword attack, slash enemies in front and behind her, and perform a descending slash, like Link from The Legend of Zelda.

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time delayed again after pre-order problems – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time delayed again after pre-order problems Ubisoft issued a statement confirming another delay for the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, following reports of pre-order issues at various retailers. After years of sitting on the sidelines, barring VR escape rooms and crossover content, Prince of Persia finally reared its head again during a September 2020 Ubisoft Forward broadcast. There the publisher announced a remake of The Sands of Time, with Ubisoft’s India-based teams in Mumbai and Pune at the helm. Despite widespread concerns regarding its visual quality, Ubisoft penciled the remake in for a January 2021 rollout, a due date it ultimately wouldn’t meet. By February 2021, the publisher had delayed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on two separate occasions. A quarterly earnings report from last fall revealed Ubisoft’s intention of deploying the Sands of Time remake during the fiscal year starting on April 1, 2022 and ending on March 31, 2023. Prince of Persia faithful shouldn’t hold their breath, though. Prince of Persia’s remake delayed a third time Earlier today, June 3, Wario64 reported that GameStop recently removed pre-order options on its website for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time’s remake. Such a move stemmed from the retailer’s expectation of another delay. A subsequent Twitter post from Wario64 revealed Amazon had also put pre-orders on hold in late May. Naturally, pre-order troubles and claims of retailer delistings led to concerns of Ubisoft possibly canceling the title outright. The publisher itself has since cleared the air, telling IGN “we are no longer targeting [an] FY23 release anymore and the game has been delisted.” Ubisoft’s statement to IGN on Prince of Persia Remake. “”we are no longer targeting a FY23 release anymore”” https://t.co/mMSHTxXHHd pic.twitter.com/qnJXQJZlyS — Wario64 (@Wario64) June 3, 2022 This third delay comes less than a month after the publisher moved the production of the Prince of Persia remake from its Indian studios to Ubisoft Montréal – the development house responsible for the original Sands of Time. As of writing, the troubled Sands of Time remake still lacks a firm release date. But it could enter the spotlight once again when Ubisoft hosts its next major showcase sometime later this year.

  • Prince of Persia Remake Trophy list goes live in time for possible re-reveal – Dexerto

Prince of Persia Remake Trophy list goes live in time for possible re-reveal UbisoftThe Trophy list for the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has gone live, suggesting a re-reveal may be imminent. Ubisoft originally unveiled the remake during a September 2020 broadcast, promising a January 2021 release date. After concerns regarding its subpar visual quality flooded the internet, Ubisoft elected to delay the title. Prince of Persia has received three delays as of writing, the most recent of which was announced amid pre-order issues. In addition to announcing another delay in June, the publisher also confirmed that Ubisoft Montréal now serves as lead developer. The Pune and Mumbai teams were previously in charge of the project that no longer has a firm due date. Prince of Persia Remake’s Trophy list has surfaced online The complete list of trophies of Ubisoft’s Sands of Time remake has gone live on the tracking website, PSNProfiles. According to the list, the Prince’s return will boast 25 trophies in total, including one Platinum, seven Gold, seven Silver, and 10 Bronze. It seems like Trophy hunters can expect a fairly easy Platinum, too. That Prince of Persia’s trophies have surfaced suggests the remake may reenter the spotlight sooner rather than later. If so, this year’s Ubisoft Forward seems like as good a time as any. The publisher will host its next games showcase on Saturday, September 10 at 12:00 PM PT. Outside of teasing previously unseen news and reveals, Ubisoft has yet to specify what exactly the digital event will entail. Fans of the series can only hope Prince of Persia takes center stage in some capacity, especially since it’s sat on the sidelines for years on end.

  • Prince of Persia Remake development is basically starting over from scratch – Dexerto

Prince of Persia Remake development is basically starting over from scratch UbisoftIn an update concerning its troubled Prince of Persia remake, Ubisoft confirmed that development has returned to the conception phase. Ubisoft originally unveiled The Sands of Time remake in late 2020, at the time promising an early 2021 launch date. The game’s questionable visual quality forced the publisher to withdraw its release plans and give developers at the Pune and Mumbai offices more time to iron out the problems. Uncertainty about the remake’s standing lasted for months on end, with Ubisoft ultimately canceling preorders and handing the project over to The Sands of Time’s original creator – Ubisoft Montréal. The latest update suggests fans of the classic will have to wait much longer for the Prince’s return. Prince of Persia Remake development is starting over On May 24, Ubisoft updated its “Information” page for The Sands of Time Remake, most notably informing readers that “the game is currently in the conception phase.” The page’s “State of the game” section goes on to note that the Montréal studio has entered an “early stage of development,” which involves “building up the team, defining priorities, developing prototypes, and testing gameplay elements.” In short, Ubisoft is rewinding the clock on the long-awaited Sand of Time remake and starting over from scratch. There are also currently no plans to remake any of the other Prince of Persia titles, the publisher confirmed. What’s more, a separate news post reveals Prince of Persia will not make an appearance during Ubisoft Forward in June. Reason suggests the game is unlikely to return to the spotlight for quite some time. And Producer Jean-Francois Naud mentioned in the blog post that players shouldn’t expect to hear more about the project this year.

  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown review – a stunning revival that turns back time – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown review – a stunning revival that turns back time Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown sees Ubisoft’s return to a long-dormant franchise. However, can the revival make a name for itself or is it bound to be stuck in time? There was a time when Prince of Persia was one of Ubisoft’s crown jewels. The franchise has an extremely long legacy and a deep history that spans all the way back to 1989 and the Apple II. It’s important to establish that, as if you’ve not been tracking games before the last decade, you’d be forgiven for not even really knowing about Prince of Persia. The series hasn’t gotten a main title game since 2010 with The Forgotten Sands, and in the broader cultural zeitgeist, the film adaption starring Jake Gyllenhaal in the same year. The reason for Prince of Persia’s disappearance isn’t exactly a mystery either. What was once one of Ubisoft’s most profitable franchises became supplanted by Assassin’s Creed. Famously, that series came to be out of experimentation of a Prince of Persia open-world game. Ubisoft became more enamored with Assassins as it let them explore more history, thus rendering Prince of Persia obsolete. There just wasn’t room for two historical-platforming-assassinating-with-added-time-weirdness franchises. And on that shelf, Prince of Persia has sat for the best part of a decade and a half, bar some remasters and mobile outings. That was until Ubisoft Montpellier stepped in. This particular wing of Ubisoft has a great history of exceptional 2.5D platformers, especially with them being the custodians of Rayman. This match, as it turns out, was made in heaven. Montpellier has found the perfect niche for Prince of Persia as a reimagined Metroidvania, making it completely distinct from Assassin’s Creed, and finding a new voice for the franchise to flourish. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – Key details Price: $49.99/£49.99 – Developer: Ubisoft Montpellier – Release Date: January 18, 2024 – Platforms: PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, & PC – Prince of Persiavania Since Sands of Time in 2003 and onwards, Prince of Persia has been a 3D action game with a focus on platforming puzzles. Montpellier has sidestepped this by reimagining the Prince of Persia formula and putting it into a sidescrolling form once again. This brings it closer to its original roots. This really works and helps define what could be a new era of Prince of Persia as something unique in the current landscape. However, this isn’t just 2D puzzle platformer, at least in its broader form. No, instead this is a Metroidvania, straight up. Some people hate that categorization – so to put it into concrete terms, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is clearly a modern riff on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. While games like Hollow Knight and the Ori series have been popular recent examples of the genre, The Lost Crown feels even more faithful to Konami’s classic. If you’ve not played that game, essentially you move around a connected world, full of different biomes. You unlock various powers as you go, soon able to reach new areas to follow the story campaign, facing off against various bosses. This 20-hour adventure is full to the brim with inventive ideas, platforming, invigorating combat, and staggering bosses too. Mount up The vast majority of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown takes place in Mount Qaf. It’s a gorgeously crafted location that will have you exploring for hours, hiding some truly devious puzzles and enemies throughout its countless nooks and crannies. Playing as Sargon, a member of the protective group the Immortals, you are thrust into Mount Qaf to find a kidnapped Prince. Once there, you find a lost city cursed by time, and a story of intrigue unfolds from there as you begin to wrestle with various characters and time itself. It’s a simple story setup, but it’s to get you out and about in this gorgeous location. As you progress, you get access to powers, such as double jumps, dashes, the ability to freeze yourself in space and return to that point, and more. Every time you get a new power it’s always exciting as once previously hard to traverse areas become delightfully trivial. That is until you realize Ubisoft Montpellier is going to use that newfound power to make even more fiendishly complex platforming puzzles. Some of the later portions of the game are a joy to figure out as you have to string abilities together in ever-increasing difficulty, often all without giving you the time to get a breather. (That said, if it proves to be too much, the game has some exceptional accessibility options.) In these moments, it can create these breathless sequences where you’re trying to hit all of your traversal abilities perfectly. Once you can pull it all together, it feels completely gratifying. Traversal and the puzzle platforming are exceptional, especially as you begin to unlock more and more of those coveted powers. Naughts and bosses Of course, platforming puzzles and moving around the world is great and all, but it’d be nothing without great combat. Thankfully Montpellier has served a refined gourmet plate for anyone who has a palette for 2D combat. You can do pretty well deep into the game just by spamming the attack button over and over, but there are moments where the game will want you to take a more deliberate approach. By participating in the worthwhile training, you soon find out how much there is to consider and dig into, from defensive moves, combos that utilize all of your special powers, as well as things like launchers and air juggles. You can become a master when you start to cleverly string these combos together. The first time you realize you can charge an attack, create a double of yourself, let off the attack, then return to your double, and then let it off again, you realize there’s depth here that is only limited by your imagination for stringing your arsenal together. Nowhere does the combat come together better than in the game’s many, grueling boss battles. These can be very challenging and often will be the points where you’ll get a serious reality check on your mastery of the game’s systems. It’s not uncommon to come up against a boss and realize you need to leave, and get stronger by upgrading your equipment and life. But when you get into these tense boss fights, they’re a thrill of adrenaline and artistry. Figure out how to dodge certain attacks and get the boss to half-health? Well, they’re now going to do a cutscene-assisted anime-move on you, with some of the most stylish visual execution you’ll see, and morph into their next, more challenging phase. These boss fights are Prince of Persia at its pinnacle and are so exhilarating that it’s hard not to feel a little remorseful once you do best as a boss, as it means, you won’t be fighting them again. Twilight hour These boss fights look incredible due to the game’s vibrant art direction and visual execution. It’s clear Ubisoft Montpellier, as showcased in their Rayman games, has a knack for embodying everything about ‘style’, particularly in a 2D form. The Lost Crown very clearly pulls from anime for many of its flourishes, especially concerning kinetic action. Some of the moves bosses do on you are things that feel ripped from the screen of Naruto or Dragonball Z, but thanks to the authoritative stamp of the developers and the unique aspects of the property, it never feels derivative. It’s not rare to miss an all-important parry, to then be hoisted up, thrown around the screen, and have it all finish in a massive Kamehamiaha-esque energy blast sending you sprawling. These visuals combine with the difficulty of boss encounters, to create something really special. However, while that’s during all the exciting parts, I’d be remiss not to mention how good the game looks outside of these encounters too. For being set in one, time-locked location, Mount Qaf has a plethora of biomes, keeping everything visually fresh. From Persian monuments to a raging sea frozen in time, to snow-covered mountains, to the gross, dark depths of the sewers, Ubisoft stretches this location far and wide – but importantly, it never breaks. It all still feels like it holds together as one location which is a real achievement. Add on top of this, some of the breathtaking vistas, lovingly created by exceptionally talented artists, and it’s hard to argue this isn’t one of the most artistically pleasing games in a while. Give me a minute It’s not all perfect, mind. While you might think in a Metroidvania, the strength of the story wouldn’t matter, The Lost Crown does try to do some interesting things. There is more here than, ‘go to location, save the prince’. There are character moments, some twists, and interpersonal relationships that elevate the game past most in the genre. That’s why it’s sad that after some strong moments and boss fights, the game sort of peters out. The presentation of some of the later scenes feels like a strange step down from what came before, the game losing a bit of its trademark flair towards the end. This, in the grand scheme, is a tiny gripe, but it did make rolling the credits feel a little anti-climactic. Of course, I wasn’t necessarily here for the story. The only reason this ended up hitting harder was because there were times earlier on that Ubisoft Montpellier tried to elevate the narrative, and raised hopes it could meet that ambition. Also, this may be circumstantial, but in one boss fight, Sargon turned invisible, and immune to damage, trivializing it. Of course, I could have stopped and reloaded, and hopefully, it will be patched in time, but it was a strange glitch that hurt a big moment in the campaign for me. The best Persian of itself None of that really takes away from Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s excellence though. The title is an exceptional realization of a fresh new take on this series that hopefully cements it for the future. And hopefully, there is a future. This is Prince of Persia stepping out of the long shadow Assassin’s Creed has cast on the series for over a decade and finding its new identity. It deserves to be expanded on, and it’s the direction this franchise should head in the future. If you’re a fan of Metroidvanias and hell, even if you are not, you should absolutely try this game. It’s a beautiful realization of a concept, with an emergent depth that is easy to be swept up in. If ever there was a style award, it’d be surprising if anything beat it this year. Verdict – 5/5 Ubisoft Montpellier has brought an invigorating energy, with a breathtaking art style, impressively expressive combat, mindstretching platform puzzles, and deeply challenging bosses. When it is all coming together in an audio-visual crescendo, it’s a thing to behold. This ode to Symphony of the Night and other greats in the genre understands what made those so good, and finds new life. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an absolute triumph, charting the future for this fallen franchise. Here’s hoping it finds its audience because it would be a tragedy to have something this good lost to time once again. • Ubisoft addresses Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s bizarre text-to-speech voiced NPC – Dexerto

Ubisoft addresses Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s bizarre text-to-speech voiced NPC UbisoftPrince of Persia: The Lost Crown publisher Ubisoft has explained why a minor NPC will be voiced by a text-to-speech program at launch. Prince of Persia is back with a new game titled The Lost Crown. Reception to the revival, which releases on January 18, has been largely positive – Dexerto’s own review calls it “an absolute triumph, charting the future for this fallen franchise” – but that doesn’t mean it’s releasing without issue. Some reviewing the game noticed something peculiar about one of The Lost Crown’s NPCs. Despite the game having full voice acting, the tree-spirit Kalux sounded suspiciously similar to a widely used text-to-speech program. In response to questions from IGN, Ubisoft has confirmed the program was used but insists this was a mistake that will be fixed in a future update. Ubisoft explains Prince of Persia’s text-to-speech voice lines & promises future fix After noticing the strange Kalux voice, IGN reached out to both SIDE UK, the studio that handled Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s voice acting, and Ubisoft itself. SIDE confirmed that it did not use text-to-speech for the game but “did not have visibility of any other voice design plans, TTS or otherwise, Ubisoft had for the game.” Ubisoft’s response confirmed that text-to-speech was used, but only as a placeholder. “The English version of these 8 lines of text for this character were not properly implemented,” they explained. The explanation makes sense, as placeholder assets are common in game development. However, it’s not clear that any voice lines were actually recorded for Kalux. While the game credits all the voice actors who worked on the title, no one is listed as voicing the character. On top of that, despite The Lost Crown having a day one patch planned, Ubisoft confirmed the Kalux fix wouldn’t be part of that, telling IGN to “expect late January or early February.” Whether there was some issue implementing the lines or Ubisoft simply overlooked this exact minor NPC, it does seem like an honest mistake. Still, it comes at a time when the use of tech in gaming and voice acting, specifically AI, is under intense scrutiny. Earlier this week, SAG-AFTRA announced a controversial deal with AI company Replica Studios regarding the use of AI-created voices in video games. Though the union called it “a fair, ethical agreement to safely create and license a digital replica of their voice,” the deal has been widely criticized by voice actors who say they were not consulted and did not approve as SAG-AFTRA claims. While not the case for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, it is worth noting that Ubisoft is among the first developers to confirm plans to use Nvidia Avatar Cloud Engine, an AI program for creating video game characters that was announced this week during CES.

  • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Preview – A triumphant return for a beloved series – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Preview – A triumphant return for a beloved series UbisoftAfter almost 15 years, a new Prince of Persia game, The Lost Crown, is set to release in 2024. Continue reading for Dexerto’s hands-on preview of the upcoming game ahead of its release. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an upcoming 2.5D platform action-adventure game developed and published by Ubisoft. It is the first new major installment in the Prince of Persia series since 2010’s The Forgotten Sands After almost 15 years, Prince of Persia fans are finally getting treated to a brand-new game. The newest installment in the beloved franchise, The Lost Crown, is set to release on January 15, 2024. Within this new experience, players take control of Sargon, a member of an elite group of seven unique warriors known as the Immortals. At PAX Australia, Dexerto was lucky enough to get their hands on the game ahead of release, sitting down and playing through early parts of the title. Without further ado, here is everything we took away from the preview from gameplay, art design, and more. Gameplay as addictive as it is fun Right off the bat, the game utilizes its dimensions well, the side-scrolling combat and mechanics smooth and addictive. We were lucky enough to play the game ahead of release on the Switch in handheld mode. From the get-go, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown felt like the perfect game for the Switch, a great pick-up and put-down game that lends itself to the nature of Nintendo’s handled beast. While the game will be releasing on other consoles as well as the PC, The Lost Crown just felt right being played in a handheld fashion. Gameplay includes light and heavy attacks, some dodging abilities as well as various mechanics to allow players to traverse up and through the obstacles of the land. For more long-range combat, you’re also equipped with a bow as well as Sargon’s Chakram, a projectile that charges up and can bounce off of walls. Pairing this with slides, jumps, parry, air attacks, and more, the game allows players to engage in combat in a multitude of different ways. And while simple, the difficulty of some encounters will have you getting creative on how you engage with enemies. Unique enemy designs also kept us on our toes in just this brief session. Beautiful art design that holds onto the roots of Prince of Persia The biggest standout playing through this demo, however, is how stylized it is. From the get-go, a clear and beautiful art design sets the groundwork for the world. Paying homage to the old-school Prince of Persia games while also venturing forth and standing out from the pack. The color gradient is bright and saturated but in contrast with the yellows of the sand and desert setting, this juxtaposition spells gold. Protagonist Sargon has a distinct design that immediately grabs you in as being that of an epic hero and swordsman. • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown potions – How to increase your health – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown potions – How to increase your health UbisoftPotions play a crucial role in your journey through Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Here’s your guide to finding potions and enhancing your health in the game. Engaging with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown means facing a series of intense challenges and enemy encounters. The bosses, especially, require a mix of intelligence and pattern mastery to conquer, and the battles can be nail-biting. However, a really important aspect of that is how much health you have to play with. The more you have, the more forgiving your battle with bosses will be, and the more hits you can take. Of course, if you’re a gaming god, maybe you can beat these tough challenges without getting hit (and there are some Amulets for that), but for the rest of us mortals, the more health the better. That’s why it’s important to understand the game‘s health system. With that, here’s everything you need to know about Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s potions and health, and how to upgrade them. How to increase your health in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown To increase your health, you’re going to need to collect four Soma Tree Petals or a full Soma Tree flower. These are relatively rare items, but finding them is a massive boon for your journey. You can find full flowers that increase your health by one bar, but these are generally only given after climactic boss fights. However, you can also find petals throughout the world. Once you find four, you will make a flower, thus increasing your life. Can you get additional Healing Potions and Potion Efficiency? Yes. You can get more potions to heal with. To do this, you’re going to need to visit The Haven. You can reach this through the game’s Fast Travel – and you unlock it very early on. Here, you can meet The Mage. Once talking to her, select buy, then tab over to Upgrades. Here you can buy additional healing potions and potion efficiency. These will mostly be bought with Time Crystals, though as you approach later upgrades, you may need to spend more Time Crystals alongside the harder-to-find Xeres too. Early on, you’ll probably want to get to at least the first additional healing potion and potion efficiency. These are pretty cheap and will really help with some of the tougher boss fights at the beginning of the game. How to increase your health further There are also other ways to increase your overall health in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, both in terms of maxing out your total health as well as healing. One way to get more health bars is to use the Blessing amulet. This Amulet is one of the first you will find on your journey. Its effect is pretty simple. At its base level, it will give you one extra health bar, however it is diminished after it is used up until you rest at a Wak-Wak tree. However, you can also upgrade this amulet twice, adding up to three extra health bars of temporary health to you. There’s also another amulet you’re likely going to want to consider. The Starving Heart amulet will gradually restore your health, although it will come at the cost of weakening your melee. That said, health is king, and this does allow you to take a breather in a fight and regain your advantage. That said, it is expensive. It can only be bought by The Scrapper, who lives in the Depths. However, after a failed reboot in 2008 and most of the company’s third-person historical efforts going into Assassin’s Creed, the franchise has failed to make an impact since. However, with the dawn of 2024, Ubisoft is reviving the series and giving it a needed spin to forge a new identity. It’s now a side-scrolling action game with combat and Metroidvania aspects, not unlike recent successes of the Ori series and Hollow Knight. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, here’s what you need to know about the various editions of The Lost Crown, as well as its preorder bonus. All editions of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown There are two versions of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown you can purchase – Standard and Deluxe. • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Athra Surges: how to get all of them – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Athra Surges: how to get all of them In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Athra Surges are powerful abilities that can help you immensely in combat situations. If you need something to give you an edge against your enemies, Athra Surges are the best way to gain that advantage. In order to chart your way through Mount Qaf, you’re going to need to best all of them at one point or another. You can do this by using some of the game’s very powerful amulets, or upgrading your weapons to be stronger . You also have to wrap your head around the combat itself obviously, which is surprisingly deep, with all sorts of combos, launches, and juggles for you to get your head around. However, to really get the most out of the game, you’re going to want to understand Athra Surges. These abilities are superhuman attacks infused with magic that Sargon can tap into. You’ll then fight versions of Sargon who have access to the new ability. Beat them and you will gain access to it too. • Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Amulets – How to find them & the best to use – Dexerto

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Amulets – How to find them & the best to use UbisoftMastering the use of amulets in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is essential for your success. This guide will help you understand their purpose and highlight the most effective amulets available. The game unfolds in a sprawling Metroidvania landscape teeming with hidden treasures and formidable foes, all intent on halting Sargon’s quest. Yet, amidst the battles and chaos, there is more to discover and utilize. No, there are also many, many rewards to be found and earned in the halls of the cursed city you must traverse. That can be anything from time crystals, the special Xerxes, various powers and abilities, or indeed, amulets. These charms you can equip provide your character with game-changing aspects and buffs, making you either more deadly or more survivable – or both. If you want to make a build where you have only a small amount of health but absolutely decimate bosses, you can do that through Amulets. However, if you are more interested in having more health, and better defensive properties, you can do that too. The game allows you to define your style through these Amulets. However, what are they exactly, how do you get your hands on them, and perhaps most importantly, which ones are the best? Here’s everything you need to know about Amulets in Ubisoft’s game. How to equip and upgrade Amulets Once you get an amulet, annoyingly, you can’t just equip it in a menu. Instead, you’ll have to journey a little. To equip an Amulet you need to visit a Wak-Wak tree. Once there, interact with it, then hit the Amulets button. Here you can equip and manage all of the amulets you own. It’s important to note, you can’t attach all of your amulets at all times. Instead, you have a reserve of points you can use to equip them. You start with 3 available, but can get up to 12. Each Amulet will have a different cost associated with it. So, for example, you might have six points available, so you could equip either two 3-cost Amulets or six 1-cost amulets. You can increase your reserve by finding Amulet Holders throughout the world, increasing how many points you have available. How many Amulets are there? There are 38 Amulets in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Each one has its own effect and can be crucial to your success throughout your time on Mount Qaf Here is a list of the Amulets we’ve found on our journey: Best Amulets in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown With so many options, it’s understandable if you’re uncertain about what Amulets to use and chase. Some of them have high costs on the necklace, but big effects, or you could get lots of smaller Amulets to have a plethora of effects. However, we tended towards the most expensive Amulets and having fewer overall. The Dragon King is a three-cost Amulet that gives you a one-time protection from a Killing Blow. This is invaluable in so many situations, from Boss fights to a random enemy getting a sneaky hit you weren’t expecting. It also increases your overall Health pool giving you more to work with. When upgraded, you come back after the killing blow with more life, boosting how much damage you can take overall. The Mount Damavand Amulet is excellent as well. This Amulet decreases the amount of damage you take from melee attacks. The Majority of attacks you are facing will likely be melee, so this just gives you excellent survivability. If you are looking for a cheaper option to fill out vacant points for you to spend, the first amulet you get, Blessing, can be upgraded to give you three bars of temporary health, letting you take more overall hits. • Prince of Persia games ranked worst to best – Dexerto

Prince of Persia games ranked worst to best The Prince of Persia games have changed a lot over the years, and some of them are less well-regarded than others. Here are the full rankings for all existing Prince of Persia games. The first Prince of Persia game was released in 1989 and is credited with revolutionizing isometric gameplay. The franchise has reinvented itself many times since then, even making an unsuccessful foray into the movies. With the new Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown out now, we thought it might be a good time to revisit the older games to see which should be sat upon a golden throne and which should be forgotten beneath the sands of time. 8. Prince of Persia 3D Released for Windows PC and SEGA Dreamcast in 1999, Prince of Persia 3D was an attempt to bring the Prince fully into actual 3D for the first time to cash in on the popularity of games like Tomb Raider. Sadly, the attempt did not go well. Despite an amazing soundtrack and pleasing 3D environments, the game was plagued by tedious puzzles, slow and imprecise combat, and a camera that seemed to actively despise you. To make matters worse, it suffered from the perennial bugbear of late 90s games – tank controls. 7. Prince of Persia (2008) The Prince of Persia series has often had a rocky start when it comes to its reboots, and the 2008 reboot of Prince of Persia is no exception. While the gameplay was as smooth and intuitive as you could hope for, and it generally looked gorgeous, it was undercut by the complete lack of danger or challenge since the puzzles were simple, and Elika would always save you from death. Some players were also annoyed by the donkey being named Farah, which was seen as a mean jab at Sands of Time players. 6. Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within The thing everyone remembers about Warrior Within is the bizarre choice of a nu-metal soundtrack. This is fine if you like that kind of music, but generally, it does not fit the game’s aesthetic. The attempt to be dark and gritty just largely ends up being comical, as the over-the-top bloody violence and tasteless attempts at titillation using scantily clad women came across as juvenile. The time travel mechanic is interesting but ultimately winds up being a pure exercise in backtracking. 5. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands The Forgotten Sands is a sequel to the 2008 Prince of Persia reboot, and it improves upon its predecessor in pretty much every way. The sequel brought back many features that were missing in the reboot, most notably the time-rewinding mechanic, which provides a limited number of retries before it runs out, a refreshing change from being unable to fail in the previous game. Since the game is set in the time gap between Sands of Time and Warrior Within, it provides insight into the Prince’s mindset, which, combined with fresh mechanics like the elemental powers, makes it a more interesting game overall. 4. Prince of Persia (1989) The one that started it all. Though dated by today’s standards and often brutally hard, with hidden death traps seemingly around every corner, the original Prince of Persia received wide praise and commercial success. This is attributed to its revolutionary character animation, great soundtrack and sound effects, and fluid graphics. It was ported to pretty much any computer system or console that sat still for long enough and is a milestone in gaming development. 3. Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame took everything that was great about the original Prince of Persia game and made it even better. The graphics received an upgrade, and the puzzles were even more devious and required careful thought and action to resolve. Prince of Persia 2 won several ‘Game of the Year’ awards in 1994 and thoroughly deserves its recognition. 2. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the 3D leap done right. Smooth and detailed animation, solid platforming, tricky but satisfying puzzles, and some great writing made this an instant classic. The controls feel a little imprecise, and the companion AI has some issues, but it still holds up remarkably well. 1. Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones The Two Thrones embodies a refinement of Sands of Time and Warrior Within in terms of mechanics and gameplay. The camera is a lot more cooperative, giving you a better perspective of what is going on. The controls have received an upgrade in terms of responsiveness, and it overall feels much more fluid to play. Superlative writing and voice acting also elevate the story, giving us a brilliant interplay between the Prince and his Dark counterpart. Plus, the new mechanics added to the gameplay, such as the ability to sneak up on an enemy and silently assassinate them, which helped pave the way for the Assassin’s Creed games.

  • Pragmata: Release window, trailer, & everything we know – Dexerto

Pragmata: Release window, trailer, & everything we know CapcomPragmata is an upcoming and mysterious sci-fi game from Capcom. Here’s everything we know about Pragmata all in one place. Pragmata involves a man in a space suit, a little girl, and a holographic/robotic cat seemingly existing together at the end of the world. While we know the game will be a sci-fi adventure, little else is known about Pragmata at the moment. The word comes from the Greek language and refers to ‘things that have been done’ as well as duties and obligations. Despite showing a lot of things, the game’s stylish and creative trailer didn’t give us much to go on, and what it did give us led to more questions than answers. Here’s everything we know about the intriguing new game from Capcom, including its release window, platforms, and more. Contents Does Pragmata have a release date? No, there is no release date for Pragmata as of yet. At the 2023 Capcom Showcase, the studio delayed the game yet again with an unannounced launch date sometime next year saying: “It is with a heavy heart that we must further postpone the release of Pragmata,” the development team wrote at the end of the game’s new trailer. “Our team is currently hard at work making the best game that we possibly can, but we need more time.” The game was expected to launch in 2023, but now it will be 2024 at the earliest. What platforms will Pragmata be on? Pragmata will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. There’s been no word on a PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch release. Pragmata trailers Check out the game’s reveal trailer below: In addition to delaying Pragmata, the 2023 Capcom Showcase also featured a gameplay teaser trailer for the title. Gameplay and setting We’ve not seen any gameplay from Pragmata yet, although the setting appears to be a post-apocalyptic earth after the planet has suffered some calamity. While the planet appears normal at first despite its lack of people, some twisting growths can be seen coming out of the ground and they seem to have the ability to distort reality – or at least something does. The moon also appears to have been altered in some way, looking almost metallic at one point in the trailer. This also shows a spaceman walking through a deserted city before meeting up with a little girl and a holographic/robotic cat. Something then seems to go awry and the spaceman and little girl need to work together to stay safe, with the girl using some kind of superpowers to ward off the danger. It’s also implied that she may not be fully human. The final scene shows both characters on the moon, staring at the earth as the spaceman refers to it as “our freedom.” So, that’s all we know about Pragmata so far. • PowerWash Simulator’s Tomb Raider collab announced in time for PS5 & Switch ports – Dexerto

PowerWash Simulator’s Tomb Raider collab announced in time for PS5 & Switch ports FuturLabPowerWash Simulator will soon receive free Tomb Raider-branded DLC, slated to arrive just in time for the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch ports. FuturLab’s PowerWash Simulator launched across PC and Xbox platforms last year to rave reviews. The relaxing experience does just what its name suggests, too, by allowing players to clean up dirt and grime with high-pressure water. Its day-and-date release on Xbox Game Pass especially proved a boon for developers, given that it quickly became more popular than the likes of Halo Infinite on the service. Soon, additional audiences will gain access to the experience. And shocking crossover content will give fans and newcomers something interesting to sink their teeth into. Free PowerWash Simulator Tomb Raider DLC revealed On January 31, all owners of PowerWash Simulator can expect to access free DLC featuring the iconic Croft Manor. The stately home belonging to Lara Croft’s family will require a deep clean ahead of a fundraising event. Over time, becoming a trusted face in the manor will allow players to enter “exclusive areas… to clean treasures from around the world.” The upcoming free DLC, entitled Tomb Raider Special Pack, will include a story-driven mini-campaign and five brand-new levels. The Tomb Raider collab isn’t all that PowerWash Simulator has going for it in the near future. FuturLab also plans to bring the title to the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch consoles on January 31. Unfortunately, FuturLab confirmed in an FAQ that crossplay for these versions will not be available. PC and Xbox users can still enjoy the feature on their respective platforms, however.

  • PowerWash Simulator is now more popular than Halo Infinite, Far Cry 5 & Sea of Thieves on Xbox Game Pass – Dexerto

PowerWash Simulator is now more popular than Halo Infinite, Far Cry 5 & Sea of Thieves on Xbox Game Pass FuturLabFollowing its full release after being in early access on Steam for over a year, PowerWash Simulator swiftly overtook major titles like Halo Infinite and Far Cry 5 on Xbox Game Pass. Simulator games have skyrocketed in popularity in recent years, with titles like American Truck Simulator and Goat Simulator finding a lot of success in the industry. Now, it seems one Simulator game has what it takes to dethrone some of the biggest titles on Xbox Game Pass. PowerWash Simulator has beat out massive games like Halo Infinite, Far Cry 5, and Seas of Thieves on Xbox Game Pass following its departure from Steam early access. PowerWash Simulator dominates Xbox Game Pass in June As of July 22, 2022, PowerWash Simulator sits firmly in the top four most popular Xbox Game Pass games of July. Though currently behind big games like Forza Horizon 5 and Fifa 22, PowerWash Simulator has already eclipsed some stiff competition, as shown in a tweet by industry analyst Benji-Sales. Along with Microsoft staples like Halo Infinite and Sea of Thieves, PowerWash Simulator also overtook heavy hitters like MLB The Show 22 and Ark: Survival Evolved. For those who may not know what PowerWash Simulator is all about, players assume the role of a power washer tasked with building up their business by cleaning the dirt off things like houses, playgrounds, and even a Mars rover. After arriving on Steam through early access on May 19, 2021, PowerWash Simulator finally hit its full release on July 14, 2022, receiving fairly positive reviews from a variety of outlets. However, the community reception to the game has been overwhelmingly positive, with PowerWash Simulator holding a 96 percent positive review score on Steam. Clearly, Game Pass owners have seen the hype from the community surrounding the game, but it remains to be seen how PowerWash Simulator will fair once the Game Pass titles for August 2022 rollout.

  • What is the Power Nine? The strongest cards in MTG – Dexerto

What is the Power Nine? The strongest cards in MTG We’ll walk you through the set of cards – arguably the strongest ever printed – that have gained a permanent spot on MTG’s reserve list. Any trading card game with as long a history as MTG is bound to have put out a wealth of powerful cards over its lifespan. But the Power Nine stand head-and-shoulders above the rest of the game’s heaviest hitters. The Power Nine originated all the way back in Magic’s first-ever set, Alpha. As MTG has progressed and developed, careful thought has gone into weighing up the strength of each set to keep formats as fair as possible. The Power Nine are a relic of a brief time when card design was unfettered by concerns of balance against other sets, and their abilities are truly exceptional as a result. What are the Power Nine in MTG? The cards that make up the Power Nine are as follows: Ancestral Recall – Black Lotus – Mox Emerald – Mox Jet – Mox Pearl – Mox Ruby – Mox Sapphire – Timetwister – Time Walk – Ancestral Recall For the cost of a single blue mana, a target player draws three cards. Simply put, no other draw card in MTG gives you as many cards for as little cost entirely on its own. Adding three cards to a player’s hand for next to nothing grants a huge amount of flexibility and absolutely contributed to Blue’s early dominance on the Magic scene. Black Lotus The most widely-known of all the Power Nine, and quite possibly the most famous MTG card of all time. Black Lotus is the prize to end all prizes, reliably fetching fortunes at auction. Black Lotus can be tapped and sacrificed for three mana of any one color and is one of Magic’s few 0-cost cards that are exceptionally powerful. Three Mana for free is inarguably MTG’s best deal of all time. The Five Moxes: Jet, Pearl, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby Mox Emerald, Jet, Pearl, Ruby, and Sapphire are all 0-cost artifacts that can provide one mana of their associated color whenever they are tapped. As with Black Lotus, anything that provides mana for free is practically a must-include in MTG. And although they don’t immediately provide as much value as Black Lotus, the Moxes’ lack of sacrifice cost makes them almost as fearsome. Timetwister Timetwister’s effect is known in MTG terms as a ‘wheel.’ For a cost of one blue and 2 generic mana, the player shuffles their library, hand, and graveyard together and draws seven cards. Timetwister is unique among the Power Nine in that its effect has been matched in cost and effectiveness by similar cards in the years since. What makes Timetwister an oppressive force on the field is the format in which it is accessible. With access to other members of the Power Nine, Timetwisters’ reliability and the ease with which it can be cast become truly difficult to play against. Time Walk For one blue and one generic mana, the player can take another turn after the current one. Magic has continued to print extra-turn cards in the years since Alpha’s release. But each of them is either much more costly than Time Walk or comes with a significant downside. Two mana for an extra turn is more than enough to close out most games. Are the Power Nine tournament legal in MTG? Despite their outperforming almost every other card in Magic, you may be surprised to learn that the Power Nine are still able to be played in a single format; Vintage. But even then, the cards are categorized as restricted, meaning that only one copy of each can be played in a given deck. The Power Nine are feared and respected by MTG players in equal measure. While players can go their whole careers without seeing any of the Nine in the wild, they have retained their revered status for the whole of the game’s history.

  • Postal 3 devs say “rest in piss” to their game and tell players to pirate it – Dexerto

Postal 3 devs say “rest in piss” to their game and tell players to pirate it Postal: Brain DamagedFollowing some DRM issues that forced Postal 3 to be delisted from Steam, Postal creators Running With Scissors have held a “rest in piss” celebration and have told fans to pirate the title. Postal 3’s development cycle was troubled to say the least. The game’s reception upon release was mixed at best, with critics citing bugs and game-breaking glitches as being something that marred the overall experience. Postal creators Running With Scissors outsourced Postal 3’s development to a Russian publisher and developer according to a Steam forum post from Toploader, a developer at RWS at the time. It was decided that removing Postal 3 from sale was in the “best interest of the Postal Community“, something clarified in another forum post. It was since re-published on Steam in late 2021 by Akella, the publisher that originally worked with RWS, and had DRM issues that made the game unplayable upon purchase. With it being removed from Steam once again due to these issues, the developers have celebrated P3’s death in an unconventional way. Postal 3 developers tell game to “rest in piss” Postal is a game series known for its dark, crude humor and over-the-top protagonist. There are very few games that give you a piss button, but, in the Postal series, it’s a feature. That said, Running With Scissors clearly wasn’t too keen on how Postal 3 came out. Being pushed to the point of removing a game with their name on it from being sold back in 2012 speaks volumes for their opinion on the title. When asked in a tweet thread if they’d be willing to remake the game, they replied, “No we’re good. Games are expensive and we’d rather not rehash that horrible moment in time.” Now, to celebrate Postal 3 being de-listed for a second time, Running With Scissors has celebrated the game’s death with the “Rest In Piss P3 Celebration“. With a few middle-finger mouse clicks and a very suspiciously tinted headstone signifying Postal 3’s sendoff, these devs can say goodbye to a game that, as they stated earlier, was a “horrible moment in time.” They replied “Yes” to a tweet from someone asking if they could pirate the game, and have also put out a quick statement in regards to other means of getting the game. “Yes, we are completely aware there’s other “methods” to get Postal 3, but at least people won’t be tricked on Steam to buy this shiiieeeet.” Postal 4 and Postal: Brain Damaged have since been released by the developer, both of which have had much better critical and fan reception than the third game in the series.

  • Is there a post-credits scene in God of War Ragnarok? – Dexerto

Is there a post-credits scene in God of War Ragnarok? SonyWhen all is said and done in God of War Ragnarok’s gargantuan story, does a special post-credits scene await to tease fans on where the franchise is headed next? Here’s what you need to know. After years of waiting, God of War Ragnarok is finally out in the wild and as developers have teased, looks to conclude the Norse arc of Kratos’ ongoing journey. But does the 2022 release hint at what might be next for the iconic PlayStation figure? Given the electrifying conclusion to God of War (2018), as Thor made his presence known in Midgard, many have been expecting the trend to continue in Ragnarok, with a similar post-credits scene teasing what’s to come. So now that we’ve played through the game in full and uncovered every secret hidden across the realms, we can now answer the question. Does God of War Ragnarok have a post-credits scene? Read on to find out. SPOILER WARNING From this point on we’ll be entering spoiler territory and discussing many of the biggest surprises throughout God of War Ragnarok. We highly recommend you experience the story for yourself before reading any further, as many twists and turns are best discovered in your own playthrough. But if you’re still here, continue down the page at your own risk. Does God of War Ragnarok have a post-credits scene? Despite how the previous game ended, there is no official post-credits scene in God of War Ragnarok per se. Unlike its predecessor, you won’t find a proper cinematic at the tail end of this experience to outline where Kratos is heading next. However, that’s not to say the story doesn’t continue in certain ways after the credits roll. Once the main narrative itself comes to a close, there’s still plenty left to see and do in Ragnarok. During some of this bonus content, you’ll find a number of sequences that, in essence, serve as post-credit scenes themselves. There’s Brok’s funeral, and while it doesn’t exactly tease the future of the series, it provides even more closure for the game in focus and even features another interaction between Kratos and Sindri. Next up, there’s a missable moment with Thrud on Alfheim. After the events on Asgard, Thrud takes up her father’s weapon Mjolnir, flying off into the distance soon after she proves worthy and picks it up. While not a post-credits scene in the traditional sense, this brief highlight could hint at her future involvement elsewhere in the franchise, now with a mighty hammer in hand. Serving as another continuation of the narrative after credits roll is a side quest on Niflheim. While there’s nothing much here for you throughout the game beyond Odin’s Ravens, an essential mission opens up after the main storyline. With Odin defeated, Kratos and Freya can venture to a secret prison of his, one that just so happens to be holding Tyr captive. The real Tyr. All along, the actual God of War had been alive, just hidden away in a realm none sought to find. While it’s unclear what his future holds now that he’s been freed, there’s every chance we see Tyr again in the near future. For the time being, reaching 100% completion across all realms in Ragnarok doesn’t unlock a special post-credits scene. At least, not that we could find in our playthrough. So even after clearing all side missions, finding every collectible, and ridding the realms of Asgardian fallout, don’t expect to see a unique teaser for what lies ahead.

The trailer showed off different classes and skills that the player will be able to hone including Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, and, of course, Flying. Since its an RPG, the game will let you choose to pick the good or evil route throughout the story. Details of how this will change the game have not been revealed. In the trailer, wizards and witches are seen battling trolls, the undead, spectres, and more creatures from the magical world. Even more exciting, there are going to be locations outside of Hogwarts to explore. In the trailer, we see a brief look at Hogsmeade and, if we’re to assume the role of a new Hogwarts student, then Diagon Alley could also play a small part in the game. This has been a title that Potterheads have long been waiting for, and will finally be able to jump into the secret world of magic soon. The project is in collaboration with Warner Bros Games, Avalanche, Wizarding World, and Portkey Games. Hogwarts: Legacy will be available in 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.

Portal Nintendo 64 ‘port’ shows off insane teleportation on classic console hardware James Lambert YouTubeA version of Portal reimagined for the Nintendo 64 is in the works, courtesy of fan developer James Lambert, and people are amazed seeing the game’s marquee teleportation mechanic at work on the classic hardware. Dubbed ‘Portal 64,’ the ambitious project aims to make a faithful ‘demake’ of Valve’s 2007 masterpiece run on the beloved Nintendo console. And the dev is sparing no expense at making the game run its signature portals to make the game work. To that end, Lambert has surprised a lot of fans online who are anticipating the complete demake with the latest look on its development cycle. The one-man dev team gave an in-depth look at how he made portals work for the project, with multiple angles of the effect on-screen. It’s only the next step for Lambert, who has been documenting the making of the game since late February. Still, the current state of Portal 64 has left people baffled seeing Valve’s hit in a new light. “That is awesome!” one user wrote. “It’s very limited, mainly because of hardware constraints. But the fact that it is working is just mind blowing. I can only imagine the programming trickery going on behind the scenes to make it work.” Meanwhile, others were taken aback seeing the preview and wondering how they would have reacted if this would have released back when the N64 was on store shelves: “This would have blown my f**king mind in 1997.” It seems Lambert is making huge strides with reinventing everything from the Portal Gun to various rooms of the early game, so there’s been steady progress – a lot of which can be played for people who are interested. Portal 64 is one of those passion projects that’s been getting more and more attention since it started, so here’s to the game making more progress in the coming months.

  • Portal: Companion Collection brings Valve’s classic series to the Nintendo Switch – Dexerto

Portal: Companion Collection brings Valve’s classic series to the Nintendo Switch ValvePortal: Companion Collection has been announced for Nintendo Switch, packaging Valve’s Portal and Portal 2 together for players to enjoy from June 28. Despite there being no new entries in the series in over a decade, Portal remains one of Valve’s most beloved franchises. Portal 2, in particular, wowed gamers by combining mind-bending puzzles with a compelling narrative. They’ve gone to become two of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, but the third appearance of GLaDOS and co. has never materialized. Both Portal and Portal 2 have been playable on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms for some time, but the franchise had never ventured over to Nintendo consoles. All that is about to change as Portal: Companion Collection has been announced for Nintendo Switch. Revealed during the Nintendo Direct Mini which took place on June 28, Portal: Companion Collection brings both Portal and Portal 2 to the Nintendo Switch in one handy package. Switch owners won’t have to wait either, as the collection dropped later the same day. Players can seamlessly switch between both titles’ single-player campaigns, and Portal 2’s physics-breaking puzzles can once again be tackled alone or with a friend in local or online co-op. Portal: Companion Collection doesn’t appear to be a remake or remaster of the classic titles, but there is new content for returning players to enjoy. Nintendo teased that fans will have to: “Think [their] way through dangerous, never-before-seen areas of the laboratories and a wider variety of portal puzzles.” If you’re concerned about the cost of two games rolled into one, don’t worry. Portal: Companion Collection is listed on the Nintendo eShop for just $19.99. For those who never got the chance to play the iconic puzzlers, this is the perfect chance to experience their witty humor and flawless level design for the first time. But with new areas and challenges to take on, tried and tested fans also have plenty of reasons to take their beloved games on the go. While it’s unlikely that we’ll see Portal 3 any time soon, it’s great to see one of Valve’s best series in the spotlight once again on a new platform.

  • Popular D&D 5e race can easily be killed by one specific attack – Dexerto

Popular D&D 5e race can easily be killed by one specific attack Wizards of the CoastOne of D&D 5e’s best races can be taken down in a surprising way, thanks to one undead power that has a flavor effect that can be extremely deadly. In D&D, most races have the same lifespan as humans, with few living past a century. The main exceptions to this are the few long-lived races, the dwarves, gnomes, and elves, who can live for hundreds of years. Some races, such as goblins and half-orcs, have shorter lifespans. One of the most notable of these is the Aarakocra, who, according to D&D Beyond, canonically reach maturity at around 3 and tend to live to be around 30 years old. The vast majority of D&D campaigns happen over a short period of time, so character age never becomes an issue. There is one creature that can take out an Aarakocra with one attack: a Ghost. In D&D 5e, Ghosts have an attack called Horrifying Visage. If the target botches their saving throw, their age increases by 1d4 x 10. This means an Aarakocra player who fails the check and rolls a 4 will die of old age. This terrible fate was discussed in a thread on the DnD Reddit, as other popular races also have shorter lifespans, like Half-Orcs and Tortles. This means that Ghosts can potentially be fatal in a way most players aren’t aware of. Aaracokra are a popular D&D 5e race thanks to their natural flying speed, access to the Gust of Wind spell at level 3, and natural talon attack. They’re a great pick for several classes, like the Monk or one of the arcane spellcasters. All the while, they’re one Ghost attack from the grave. Later D&D 5e books, like Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse, addressed the issue by giving all races a minimum lifespan of a century. However, the original version of the Aaracokra from the Elemental Evil Player’s Companion is still valid and can be snuffed out by the Ghost. It would take a specific set of circumstances for this type of death to happen, but if it does, then hopefully, the player is cool with suffering one of the most unique character deaths in the game.

Photos emerged of the suspects, where the two could be seen making off with a whole pallet of Trading Card Games through the convention center, as the authorities used the footage to appeal for the public’s help. After a few days, police were able to quickly identify two TCG designers as persons of interest in the case. The suspected robbers’ getaway was well documented due to cameras being placed all around the venue and shockingly they even wore their own merchandise to aid detectives further. Zemen, who goes by Hunter Fox online, met the child on Roblox and VRChat before allegedly convincing him to meet him in real life. Utah Police were on the lookout for a 13-year-old boy on December 26, sending out an amber alert to residents state-wide. The boy was eventually found safe in Nebraska on December 28 and the alert canceled, with police arresting 26-year-old man Aaron Zeman for the alleged abduction. He was charged with kidnapping and resisting arrest. He was initially suspected to be named Hunter Fox, the online alias he uses on both Roblox and VRChat, where the two apparently met. A Twitter account reportedly used by Zeman under the Hunter Fox moniker tweeted on December 14 about how he was “going to spend my life with him.” He did not elaborate on who he was referring to. “I am so, so lucky. We played VRChat together for about an hour. Today I heard his voice for the first time since [November 20]. This is already the best Christmas. I love you.” Police said Zeman had been in contact with the child for some time. Layton Police officer Lt. Travis Lyman told the media no charges had been laid yet as they were determining between Utah and Nebraska Police how they would be prosecuted. “They have traveled across state lines and we need to talk to both the suspect and victim to determine what has gone on and sort through the charges… and determine who will be prosecuting whatever those charges are.” He also urged parents to be more aware of their child’s activity online. “We see a lot of cases unfortunately where there’s this type of communication going on, rarely does it escalate to the point where someone is enticed out of their home and leaves with a suspect like this. “Sadly this type of communication, grooming, and enticement… is more common than you think.”

  • Pokimane roasted by chat over embarrassing Wordle fail – Dexerto

Pokimane roasted by chat over embarrassing Wordle fail Daily word game Wordle has enthralled the internet and it oftentimes leads to some embarrassing moments on Twitch when streamers like Pokimane question whether what they’ve typed is a real word. If you’re somehow unfamiliar with Wordle, here’s a quick rundown. Every person gets a chance to play once every 24 hours by visiting nytimes.com/games/wordle. You get six attempts to guess the day’s word before you have to wait for the next. Seen a random assortment of grey, yellow, and green squares on social media? It’s likely to do with Wordle. Players enjoy sharing their streaks and number of guesses to show their word game dominance. The game has gotten so popular that even streamers have started playing with their viewers. A fun idea at first is actually very brave as streamers are putting their English literacy to the test with sometimes embarrassing results. Pokimane roasted over Wordle fail Pokimane has made a habit of starting each stream on Twitch with Wordle. You might think it’s easy to play the game with thousands of people watching, but she has her chat in emote-only mode rendering her viewers almost useless. While playing, she had gotten down to her fifth guess with four of the letters revealed. After a bit of a struggle, she typed the word “other” but hesitated to hit enter. She stated, “I don’t know if this is a word, bro. I’m gonna be honest, is this a word?” Her chat erupted in laughing emotes as viewers frantically hit the clip button. Various clips titled “To think Poki was supposed to be a chemical engineer” or “Poki shows off her English skills” appeared on Reddit. “Why are you laughing?” Poki exclaimed. “What’s so funny?” Moments later, she realized that “other” was a word and explained she had read the word as if it were a misspelling of “author.” Embarrassed, the streamer faked shutting her broadcast off before switching to the PG-13 version of Wordle, Lewdle. For those interested, “other” was the correct answer and she won on her fifth guess. For more Wordle fails, check out Timthetatman losing it after failing to guess the word “moist.”
