You heard it here first: anime fans are tired of seeing oversexualized character cosplays showing up on the One Piece subreddit. The series is full of characters that fans deem as cool, cute, or otherwise attractive enough to cosplay, but fans posting about it prominently on one of the main places people talk about One Piece seem to ruffle some feathers. Cosplaying your favorite anime character can be one of the most enjoyable things, and sharing that cosplay, you’ve put a lot of effort into online or taking it to a convention is fantastic. So, when the argument of when it stops being cosplay and starts being model promotion comes up, it always draws a crowd – and this time, it’s taking on the biggest One Piece forum. One Piece fans want cosplayers out and memes back in Reddit user applsauce12 has seemingly had enough of cosplayers that are “often hypersexualized” and “cater to a specific demographic,” avoiding the initial point of the One Piece subreddit – talking about One Piece. Fans in the comments agree with this user, saying that they are sick of the cosplay content spam that shows up “EVERY SINGLE DAY.” Some say the moderators should outright replace the rule allowing cosplayers with one that “allows memes back on the main sub.” Another commenter pulled up their concerns by writing: “I am okay with cosplays but not [Only Fans] promotions under the pretense of cosplaying.” This is an existing issue; the initial post is a One Piece character cosplay, but when you go to their profile, it links to pages of NSFW content. For those unaware, a One Piece subreddit purely for memes called “Memepiece” exists to prevent a slew of low-quality comedy posts from flooding whenever something remotely funny happens in a new chapter or episode. Commenters are calling on the One Piece subreddit moderators for a public poll on the subject to pull more attention to the issue. Another user suggested a compromise plan with “having a day allowing cosplay posts”; other subreddits do this, allowing specific posts on certain days. This “day rule” is possibly the best option for the subreddit because getting rid of the “hypersexualized” low-effort cosplays would result in also getting rid of the incredibly high-quality character cosplays that have put a lot of effort into their outfit that are worth sharing and praising. So the moderators have some work to do to manage the “hypersexual [OnlyFans] advertisements.”

One Piece fans want to kick “hypersexual” cosplayers off Reddit One Piece fans on Reddit may be at their wits’ end with “hypersexual” cosplayers apparently spamming their subreddit.
