Premiering in August 2023, Netflix\u2019s One Piece transported Monkey D Luffy and the Straw Hats into live-action without losing any the charm and joy of the original anime show. Showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda adapted Eiichiro Oda\u2019s manga with grace and finesse, retaining the cartoony nature without making the whole thing seem ridiculous or needless. The response to the Netflix show was so strong, we\u2019ve been waiting for news on another season ever since. Production was expected to occur sometime this year, since everyone involved seems ready and another season was greenlit less than a month after it launched. Now, we appear to have gotten confirmation it\u2019ll be soon. One Piece Season 2 will start filming soon Mackenyu Maeda, who plays Roronoa Zoro in Netflix\u2019s One Piece, revealed during the Bandai Card Games Fest final in Chiba, Japan, that the second season is due to begin production in the near future. \u201cI won\u2019t be in this country any more, I will be in another One Piece,\u201d he told announcers, when asked if he\u2019ll be taking part in any tournaments. They nervously laughed about whether he\u2019s allowed say that \u2013 there was likely a request not to mention any news on One Piece \u2013 and he shrugged it off by adding that he hasn\u2019t specified a time period, before wondering if there\u2019ll be any events in South Africa. So, it seems like he\u2019ll be busy with the Straw Hats for a considerable amount of the year. Finding time to get One Piece moving would be a logistical struggle, since two of the stars, I\u00f1aki Godoy and Jacob Romero, are also in Netflix\u2019s remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That show released only a couple of weeks ago, so there are probably some press commitments still be fulfilled before everyone\u2019s schedule is free again. Regardless, it sounds like we might get One Piece Season 2 relatively soon.
