One Piece might be in the Final Saga, but that doesn’t mean the anime show is going anywhere any time soon. Now over 1000 episodes deep, the ongoing quest of Monkey D Luffy to acquire the eponymous treasure has had more twists and turns than most pirates could tolerate, and it keeps moving, introducing more and more great characters and adventures. Thanks to the manga, we know an oncoming scene has Monkey D Garp, Luffy’s grandfather, initiating a devastating move called Galaxy Impact. The first tease suggests this’ll be a moment to remember. One Piece anime’s Galaxy Impact teased by iconic animator On X/Twitter, Ishizuka, a key animator on One Piece, shared a tease for an upcoming episode. The image clearly features Garp mid-move on something big. The obvious assumption here is the Galaxy Impact, and fans are excited. “This means that [Ishizuka] will likely storyboard the Galaxy Impact, making it look absolutely demonic just like he always does,” wrote one user. Ishizuka tends to work in storyboarding, but his work precedes him, with some huge sequences, such as the Kong Gatling and the recent Zoro and King skirmish, being notable highlights for this era of Luffy’s misadventures. Galaxy Impact probably won’t involve much ceremony – it’s essentially an over-powered punch. But when it lands, it tends to finish the fight, and the introduction in the manga is a devastating scene. Ishizuka has the gusto to really make sure the scene that stands out for everyone watching, although some are wary of what’s coming. “I prefer a cleaner drawing. There was also too much unnecessary effects,” says one user. That’s an understandable position, Ishizuka likes a lot of flash that may obfuscate from the character work, but the fireworks are also part of the fun. The scene should appear in around 20 episodes, since it’s in Chapter 1080, and the anime has covered up to Chapter 1066 so far.
