Apex Legends 2? Don\u2019t count on it Despite only releasing in February, there have already been discussions about an Apex Legends sequel \u2013 you shouldn\u2019t count on Apex Legends 2 releasing anytime soon though. In fact, executive producer of Apex Legends, Drew McCoy, has pulled the brakes on the idea all together. In an interview with USGamer he said: \u201cWe\u2019re never gonna make an Apex 2.\u201d He added: \u201cWe do believe in this game as a live game,\u201d after saying they have a lots of things in the pipeline. Clearly Respawn consider this game more akin to Fortnite rather than an iterative Call of Duty series. Having no plans for a sequel is hardly surprising given the game\u2019s recent release but it is interesting someone so high profile within Respawn would shoot down the idea entirely. Popularity for EA\u2019s battle royale game surged soon after release, surpassing even the loftiest expectations they had for the game. However, after the initial honeymoon period the game declined which was highlighted by its fall in the Twitch charts. Consequently, Season 1 was considered a disappointment and the introduction of a proper rankings system did little to quell the downward spiral. With that said, Apex Legends has maintained a core base which continue to make lobbies plentiful. EA and Respawn will be hoping the introduction of Season 2 will boost the game\u2019s player base again. Next season\u2019s contents haven\u2019t been fully announced yet but we do know there will be a new character, dragons will be flying over King\u2019s Canyon and there will be weapon changes. With Respawn suggesting Apex Legends will be around for years to come, we will surely see extensive map changes, even more character introductions and various other changes over the coming seasons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
