Here’s everything we know so far. Season 3 will be aiming to step the game up once more after a successful Season 2, and we already know there will be a new legend and weapon, but it’s the long-term content plans that will be crucial. Most significantly, there will be a brand new map, called ‘World’s Edge’. Although leaks and teasers hinted at it, the exact details of the map have made fans more excited than ever. When does Apex Legends Season 3 start? Apex Legends Season 3 starts on October 1, 2019, right after the end of the second season. Respawn’s year one roadmap originally had a September release date for Season 3 in place, but that won’t be the case. Season 1 started a month behind schedule, and so did Season 2, and so we can expect a similar timeframe for Season 3 as well. You can watch the full cinematic trailer for the third season below. When does Apex Legends Season 2 end? Apex Legends season two currently has an end date of Tuesday, October 1 set, so there’s no downtime planned between the season. However, if it doesn’t change, you can expect season two to come to a close at 6pm BST/1pm EST/10am PDT and 7pm CEST on October 1. Will Crypto be added in Season 3? Crypto has finally been confirmed as the new legend for Season 3, coming in with his new drone abilities. We already have a good idea of what his abilities will entail too, thanks to leaked game files: Tactical: Aerial Drone – Surveillance camera drone, lasts for 40 seconds, 200 meter range. Can be destroyed. Can hack doors, loot bins and pick up banners with drone. – Passive: Neuro Link – Crypto and teammates see what surveillance drone detect up to 30 meters away. – Ultimate: Weapon Drone EMP – Charge up an EMP blast from your drone. Deals shield damage, slows enemies and disables all traps. – In terms of his intentions, Crypto’s lore largely revolves around his desire to overthrow from the inside, as he hacks his way into the system — even being the one responsible for taking down the Repulsor Tower at the beginning of Season 2. In fact, he seems to be responsible for the new map, discussed next. Crypto’s cinematic trailer can be seen below. New map – World’s Edge After leaks suggested that lava and ice was coming for Season 3, it was finally confirmed that a brand new map is coming. Named World’s Edge, not only is it a new map, but it’s on an entirely new planet, separate from Solace (where Kings Canyon is). The map was revealed in more detail in the gameplay trailer. New weapon: Charge Rifle “Carve your way across the Arena with this obliterating directed-energy weapon.” The L-Star was added back in Season 2, and next up is the Charge Rifle, an energy weapon that will release a charged-beam, as opposed to individual rounds. Rosie and Nomad? Rosie and Nomad are two other legends that have been discussed online but neither are likely additions to Season 3 – at least at the start of it. The former has even been teased by Tina Sanchez, a producer on Apex Legends, suggesting her development is fairly far along. You can read all about the potential new legend in our Everything you need to know about Rosie article. Working on Apex Legends stuff :lovestruck:@jitterbot @_moyparra pic.twitter.com/CeGxxqvldR — Tina Sanchez (@Teanah) August 1, 2019 Will Apex Legends Season 3 have a battle pass? Respawn have confirmed that the new battle pass will feature over 100 exclusive items, including legendary skins, Apex packs and ‘new’ battle pass content – although we’re not sure what that is yet. Presumably, the battle pass will also still grant Apex coins too, which can be spent on cosmetics or saved to use on the Season 4 battle pass. How much will the Apex Legends battle pass cost? The battle passes for both season one and two cost 950 Apex Coins – so you’ll have to pick up 1,000 from the store for £7.99/$10 if you don’t keep ahold of the free currency that can be claimed through battle pass progression. What about a PVE mode? Season 3 may include the addition of a Player vs Environment mode. Flyers, which appear to be aggressive and AI-controlled, could work similarly to Call of Duty Zombies. Alternatively, they may be part of the battle royale mode itself. With such little information available, and what we do know only shared through a leak, we’ll have to wait for further news.
