In a post to the Apex Legends subreddit, user nauee explained just how Mirage\u2019s decoy tactical ability can be used as a scouting tool. When playing as Mirage, players can send the decoy towards a Caustic\u2019s Nox Gas Trap and once the decoy takes damage, the location of the opponent will be revealed. However, the reveal of the Caustic\u2019s location is not limited to a certain distance \u2013 meaning that the enemy could be hundreds of meters away and their position would still be known. Nauee added that the tip can also be used in a similar fashion with Bangalore\u2019s \u2018Rolling Thunder\u2019 airstrike and Thermite grenades. The trick is just another way to work around the powerful Caustic. Players have done their best to find ways of nerfing the character\u2019s ability to defeat them in-game \u2013 including discovering how to counter the powerful gas trap before it is set off.
