Respawn dev hints that Apex Legends SBMM has possibly been turned off A developer at Respawn Entertainment has hinted that skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) may have been switched off or changed in Apex Legends. SBMM is a widely controversial topic among gamers in many titles such as Fortnite and the newly-released Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare. Many fans of the popular battle royale game, Apex Legends, have also been frustrated with the use of skill-based matchmaking in their matches, with some even claiming that it was \u201cruining\u201d their online experience. SBMM is used to match players of similar skill levels together using various algorithms, however, many hardcore fans have deemed it unfair, arguing that their matches have become too difficult to win against some of the game\u2019s top players. Since the beginning of Season 2 in Apex Legends, skill-based matchmaking has become the standard in online matches despite the fact a ranked playlist with SBMM was also introduced during that period. However, one Respawn developer, Josh Medina, hinted that changes have been made to the matchmaking system after replying to Apex Legends streamer Xfactor\u2019s thoughts on his recent matches. \u201cI\u2019m solo Q\u2019ing as usual. Either the SBMM is turned off or broken but its the most fun I\u2019ve had in weeks,\u201d the Facebook streamer expressed, revealing that it felt as if Respawn had begun testing new alternatives to the current state of matchmaking. The Respawn Entertainment producer simply responded with the classic eyes emoji, suggesting that the streamer may have been correct in his predictions. The removal of skill-based matchmaking from Apex Legends would come as good news to many of the battle royale\u2019s fans including top stars such as TSM TannerSlays who even called the system \u201czero fun.\u201d Although it is unclear what changes, if any, have been made so far to the game\u2019s matchmaking system, fans will be eager to get into action to test things out on the Mirage\u2019s Holo-day bash event which started on December 12.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
