Based on the invites to press, it\u2019s sounding like Apex Legends will feature an even more competitive-centric season than the current one, which will be good news to those who like grinding the ranks. According to The Verge, the invite specifically asks for outlets to send someone who has been climbing the ranks in Apex Legends. \u201cCompetition will be high and we ask that you send your best Champion of the Arena to battle it out with players who\u2019ve climbed up ranked mode over the last six months,\u201d says the invite. After introducing the ranked system in Season 2, it appears that Apex Legends will be doubling down on that in Season 3 and adding even more features to help grow the competitive scene. Battle royale titles have proven they can have strong esports scenes, with Fortnite paving the way into uncharted territory and the unprecedented prize pool, with $100 million going out in 2019 alone. With a focus on the competitive play, it\u2019s possible we could see some more tournaments come out of Apex Legends, building on the already strong foundation. We\u2019ve seen glimpses at what the scene could look like with various Twitch Rivals tournaments and the X Games event, and it\u2019s still growing, with another major event coming up soon. Beginning on September 13 is a Respawn-hosted event in Poland called the Apex Legends preseason invitational with a $500,000 prize pool. Later in the month, on September 27 and 29, a TwitchCon tournament is being held, so Apex\u2019s esports scene is still looking solid. 100 Thieves dropped their entire Apex Legends team in August, possibly because of the uncertainty around Apex as an esport, but it doesn\u2019t look like fans and players have to worry about the scene dying out any time soon.
