Dr Disrespect and shroud drop hints [UPDATE] UPDATE – February 6 (4pm PST) Following hints dropped by popular Twitch streamers Dr Disrespect and shroud, Respawn has announced that the first Apex Legends tournament will be the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge. For full details about this upcoming tournament, including the prize pool, schedule, format, invited players, and more, check out our Twitch Rivals Apex Legends hub. Respawn Entertainment has rolled out Apex Legends rather smoothly and with so many high profile streamers interested in the game already, it’s only a matter of time before its first competitive tournament is announced. The free-to-play title, which was first made available on February 4, is expected to take a similar route to Fortnite Battle Royale and open up the game to all players by going cross-platform in the near future. With the speed in which it was released and considering how quickly the developer has been to lay out its year one plans for Apex Legends, will they be revealing a tournament sooner than we might expect? Streamers have reportedly been teasing a $50,000 tournament already, with Dr Disrespect explicitly titling his February 5 stream ‘Tournament training for 50 thousand dollars”. Throughout the stream, he and his teammates, Krafty and TSM Viss, were adding up how many points their kills would have earned them in this – as yet – unannounced event. The Doc has previously set up his own events, such as ‘Code Red Tournament’ which features the Blackout game mode from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Potentially, he could be hinting towards hosting a similar event on Apex Legends. Shroud also briefly seemed to mention an upcoming tournament, hinting that he and Tyler ‘Skadoodle’ Latham would be teaming up, and offering the third spot to streamer ‘Buhhbye’.” After all, Shroud did claim to have a significant influence on the game’s weapon recoil functions, so perhaps he might be the first to know about some of Respawn’s upcoming announcements. YouTuber Daniel ‘KEEMSTAR’ Keem has also revealed that he is considering hosting a tournament on the new battle royale game, with a potential prize pool of $100,000. Keem’s Friday Fortnite event is arguably the most popular competitive tournament featured on the Epic Games title and it would seem that the content creator is already on the lookout for the next big thing. Nevertheless, it’s a huge indication that the game’s potential is being noticed by some very popular internet personalities – just days after release – and its first competitive event could be right around the corner. If you haven’t already played Apex Legends or maybe just getting to grips with the new battle royale game, check out our beginner’s guide.

When is the first Apex Legends tournament?
