By now, everyone who\u2019s been paying attention to 2023 knows that Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 was one of the runaway successes of the year. The biggest reason for that? Near-limitless flexibility and the willingness to adapt to whatever the play wants to do. But what if they wanted to be a cat for the whole game? Well, if you\u2019re playing as a Druid, that\u2019s not even that impossible. With Wild Shapes available, Druids are able to spend plenty of time as a broad suite of animals, ranging from the mighty owlbear to a simple cat. One particularly curious player decided to push this mechanic to its limits, by spending the entire game in Wild Shapes form, to varying degrees of success. Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 druid player demonstrates the strength of wild shapes Posting on the Baldur\u2019s Gate subreddit, the player said: \u201cI decided to go through Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 fully using the Druid\u2019s Cat Forms as a fun challenge. Had a lot of fun, and found that Larian planned a few unique cutscenes for wild shapes, but for the most part the cutscenes didn\u2019t work.\u201d The player discovered that cats only ever take 1 point of damage when falling, no matter how high, presumably because cats always land on their feet. There\u2019s also unique dialogue with Kagha\u2019s snake while you\u2019re rescuing Arabella. Perhaps most interestingly, there\u2019s a way you can kill Raphael early in Act 1. The player noted: \u201cIn the mountain pass transition you can kill Raphael while wildshaped for the 1400 XP because he is not able to start the conversation with you as an animal. \u201cIt takes a long time, but that is a huge bonus for that level.
