Act 3 of Baldur\u2019s Gate 3 takes place in the titular city, and your party gets to explore all of the nooks and crannies throughout the settlement, including everything hidden underneath. It\u2019s an overwhelmingly large city, perhaps too large for some players, and all the buildings, castles and circuses balancing on the top of it can\u2019t be good for the structure. However, the city still seems to be standing. The thing that has players so confused is that there are a surprisingly large number of secret bases and societies hidden under the city, making most of the ground underneath it hollow. Surely the weight of the city should have made it collapse a long time ago? Players don\u2019t understand how Baldur\u2019s Gate is still standing One player compiled a list of some of the secret hollow structures underneath Baldur\u2019s Gate, asking: \u201cHow the heck is Baldur\u2019s Gate still standing? \u201cI mean with the Temple to Bhaal, the sewers, Cazador\u2019s dungeon, and Ansur\u2019s trials, the city should have collapsed ages ago. Seems like all it would take is a ton of rain or an angry wizard or an artificer having a bad day for everything to come crashing down.\u201d There\u2019s also the prison under Wyrm\u2019s Rock, as well as all the tremors being caused by the Elder Brain. Maybe the city really is doomed after all. Several players compared Baldur\u2019s Gate to Waterdeep, the city Gale comes from, by suggesting that the latter was actually even more unstable. One player said: \u201cWaterdeep\u2019s built on top of a giant dungeon that\u2019s not particularly anchored to the current plane of reality.
