Battlefield 5 developers reveal why the game\u2019s battle royale mode was delayed Developers for the latest installment in the Battlefield franchise talked about why they\u2019re holding off on releasing Battlefield V\u2019s battle royale mode until after the game is released. After announcing that Battlefield V\u2019s battle royale mode would be released after the game itself, DICE\u2019s live service development director Ryan MacArthur gave some reasons why they made the decision in an interview with VG24\/7. \u201cWe want to make sure that each introduction of new gameplay is able to stand on its own and is able to stand out from everything else in a way that makes players want to focus on it,\u201d MacArthur explained in the interview. Battlefield V\u2019s developers said they want to \u201cdrip-feed\u201d content into the game, like new maps and modes, such as battle royale, for free, instead of in paid expansions or DLC. According to DICE, putting all this content into the game at once would be just like a paid expansion \u201c\u201cWe want players to have this \u2013 here is the core Battlefield experience, and here\u2019s a co-op experience built off that, and here\u2019s a battle royale experience built off that,\u201d MacArthur said.
