The Call of Duty League got off to an explosive start in Minneapolis on January 24, with the first three games showcasing the very best of what Modern Warfare has to offer. From a heated eClásico between Chicago Huntsmen and Dallas Empire to a drama-filled bout between hosts Minnesota RØKKR and Los Angeles Guerrillas, the first day alone provided fans with plenty to talk about. However, two-time world champ, ACHES, was vocal about his team’s second map forfeit versus the home side. After beating RØKKR 6-3 in Search & Destroy on Piccadilly, Price and co. were heading into Domination, intent on sweeping the series 3-0. However, in a dramatic turn of events, a member of the Guerrillas squad enabled Hardline (currently restricted according to the current competitive settings), which forced the side to forfeit the map… Leaving the series evenly poised at 1-1. After a lengthy pause, both squads resumed the series. However, the momentum seemed to swing in favor of RØKKR after the restart, and the team would go on to win back-to-back respawn game modes to close out the series. ACHES immediately weighed in on the ordeal (which proved to be a turning point in the series), by pointing the finger towards Modern Warfare developers, Infinity Ward. He didn’t even have specialist on. So the perk he accidentally had on due to IW fucking up CDL rules and us having to do some workaround that caused him to have hardline on didnt even effect anything. — PATTYP (@ACHES) January 25, 2020 Us being up 2-0 Full momentum waxing their ass vs getting forfeited a bit different but alright. — PATTYP (@ACHES) January 25, 2020 The Guerrillas captain later vented his frustrations on the matter by stating: “The fact that sh*t like this happens in a 300 million dollar league is f**king insane.” https://twitter.com/ACHES/status/1220931731735400448 Price wasn’t the only player to be vexed by the incident, with some of his fellow teammates joining him in articulating their thoughts on Twitter. https://twitter.com/UAquaa/status/1220930084552564736 https://twitter.com/SaintsNato/status/1220937587713593344 Not only does hardline only affect killstreaks, he didn’t even have specialist on. ALSO alexx earned spec bonus and it gives you hardline in that ALSO the CDL rules has the banned perks and left hardline unbanned 😂😂 #RokkrKickoff — d3ce ☔️ (@Decemate) January 25, 2020 There appears to be some confusion among pros, in light of the competitive settings receiving an update on January 23. Jacob ‘Decemate’ Cato stated that Hardline had been left “unbanned” despite the most recent ruleset listing the perk under the ‘Restricted Items’ list. Given the drama which ensued, Activision will likely be looking to clarify what is and isn’t acceptable with pros ahead of the rest of the weekend’s action.
