After a hectic week of play, the final eight Champs teams were finalized and OpTic made a huge statement. Here are the results, recaps, and highlights for the ROKKR Home Series. Surge, Legion, Royal Ravens, Guerrillas eliminated. – Royal Ravens and Legion play spoiler vs NY and LAT. – OpTic clutch up vs FaZe in huge matchup. – This isn’t your typical Call of Duty season. Only eight teams make it to CDL Champs in 2021 and that means four squads are missing out on the chance to fight over $2.5 million. But there’s still $500,000 available at the Stage 5 Major and placement points to earn for seeding at Champs. While no one can touch FaZe for the first seed, they can apparently bleed — as OpTic proved by beating them 3-2 in a wild match. Four teams are eliminated from Champs, but the season is still as spicy as ever. And that’s it, the list of teams who can’t make Champs is set: ❌ LA Guerrillas ❌ Paris Legion ❌ Seattle Surge ❌ London Royal Ravens— Dexerto Esports (@DexertoEsports) July 17, 2021 CDL Minnesota Home Series: results, recaps, highlights DAY 1 – THURSDAY, JULY 15 Match 1: Ultra obliterate Guerrillas A wise man once asked who was smoking the “papanya” in the Guerrillas camp. While that question remains unanswered, the Ultra made one thing clear: this MentaL situation may take longer than LA fans hoped. Match 2: ROKKR smoke Surge What a way to start off your Home Series. With Rookie of the Year candidate Staaandy dropping a nasty 1.31 series K/D, the ROKKR tucked Seattle away in minutes. DAY 2 — FRIDAY, JULY 16 Match 1: Mutineers shock Empire The Empire were one of the hottest teams in the CDL, but Havok is treating every match like it’s CoD Champs and apparently that energy helped Florida break everyone’s predictions this week. Wavok’s energy is unmatched 😤https://t.co/pdUvRV6mE0 — Dexerto Esports (@DexertoEsports) July 16, 2021 Match 2: FaZe shut down John & Thieves John was undefeated in his CDL career at a nice 2-0, but then he and the Thieves had to get scheduled against FaZe. The four scary dudes could not be denied, even with LA putting up a fight. DAY 3 — SATURDAY, JULY 17 Match 1: Royal Ravens upset Subliners Things continue to sour for the Subliners, as the Royal Ravens added to their misery with a shocking 3-2 victory that sends New York back to the drawing board. Match 2: Mutineers carry momentum vs Guerrillas Unlike NYSL, Florida were not going to let a bottom-tier team play spoiler. The Mutineers maintained their recent momentum and throttled LAG. Match 3: Ultra shut down Surge Things change quickly in Call of Duty and there’s no better example than this match. Seattle were three points from a map win, but Ultra came back, won Hardpoint and quickly swept the Surge. The Surge only needed… 3 points 🤯https://t.co/1TmA7NgHW7 — Dexerto Esports (@DexertoEsports) July 17, 2021 DAY 4 — SUNDAY, JULY 18 Match 1: Legion upset Thieves Any chance for a Temp grudge match storyline needs to be seized, and that’s precisely what happened here. Despite LA’s improvements, the Legion played spoiler and made quick work of Temp’s former team. Match 2: OpTic clutch up vs FaZe What an absolute stunner. Few expected OpTic to put up much of a fight against a dominant FaZe unit, but they did more than that — as Envoy piled up a 1.21 K/D and T2P clutched up the W in Game 5, Round 11. Match of the year?! But Shotzzy and the Empire rained on that parade, as the 2020 MVP dropped a 1.20 K/D and Dallas spoiled Minnesota’s fun. Watch now: The ULTIMATE OpTic… Problem SOLVED?
