For many, it wasn\u2019t a secret that General wasn\u2019t his real last name, but the common belief was that he changed it simply to match his in-game alias, perhaps as a branding opportunity. However, he has explained in an episode of the Eavesdrop Podcast with H3CZ that this isn\u2019t actually the case, and that he changed it to General for very personal reasons in 2014. When H3CZ asked him to explain the name change \u2013 something General\u2019s mom did, too \u2013 Jordon said that it was actually due to issues with his biological father. Saying that the man who raised him since he was two years old is his \u201creal dad,\u201d General said that he had a strained relationship with his biological father, which reached its end in 2014, just before he started competing. \u201cMy biological father kind of scumbagged me,\u201d he says. \u201cIn 2014, my brother Joey was killed, and I wasn\u2019t able to go to his funeral, and that really enraged me. And, since he wasn\u2019t part of my life (my biological father), that was the last straw for me.\u201d General says that for that reason, he didn\u2019t want to carry his last name anymore, so he went through with the process to remove any link between him and his biological father.
