Prior to the new season, the M4 rifle and M15 submachine gun each received nerfs in the January 28 update. The M4A1’s range and damage were both lowered, as was MP5’s headshot multiplier and it’s range when equipped with the 10mm attachment. Despite the changes, they still remained near the top of the meta with no clear contenders emerging to take their place. That is, until Season 2 released, and players met the GRAU 5.56 assault rifle. The new rifle is unlocked at level 15 of the Season 2 battle pass, meaning for any pro player that plays multiple hours per day, it doesn’t take much work to acquire. Pros are already quickly adding the GRAU to their loadouts, and the new rifle has a chance to be a consistent part of the game’s competitive meta. CDL players have already been seen using the GRAU extensively in scrims, as attachments like the Drifter barrel make it a highly mobile, quick to aim weapon that’s very suitable for a flex player. Much like the M4, it’s customization options give it a ton of variety for fitting play styles. Chicago Huntsmen teammates Dylan ‘Envoy’ Hannon and Pierce ‘Gunless’ Hillman both used it on stream in recent scrims with positive results. The weapon isn’t the only gun getting some extra time in the sun over the past few weeks, as members of the community have been hyping up the RAM-7 as well. While it isn’t new, its recent extended clip ammo clip increase makes it more viable after the M4’s recent nerf. Earlier in Gunless’s stream, the lobby was talking about the RAM-7 being available, prompting his teammate Matthew ‘FormaL’ Piper to immediately create a class for it. It’s been seen frequently in 10-man scrims as well, and Seattle Surge’s Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow heaped lots of praise on it on the CoD competitive subreddit. With these two rifles getting more attention, fans of CDL may see a break in the M4 and MP5-dominated meta seen in nearly all competitive game modes. With the pros adopting them into their own loadouts, expect to see more of those guns in your own matches as well.

CoD pros potentially adding DLC guns to competitive Modern Warfare meta Infinity WardAfter the Season 2 launch introduced two new primary weapons into Modern Warfare, several CDL pros have already loaded one of them into their competitive loadouts, potentially paving a way for a new meta.
