As Infinity Ward’s new battle royale continues to explode in popularity, and millions flock to the franchise’s latest mode, tourney organizers have been hustling to get the biggest names in esports and streaming into big money events. Looking to take advantage of the hype, BoomTV swapped their fan-favorite Code Red event to ‘Code Green.’ On March 19, in partnership with CashApp, they assembled one of the most star-studded tournament lineups in recent history. As well as a $50k prize pool — which TeePee, Clayster, and Crimsix claimed the lion’s share of with their table-topping 298 eliminations — CashApp also gave away a stack of money, $20k in total, throughout the event’s five-hour stream. Below you can find out how the huge Warzone tournament went down, from the biggest and best plays of the $50,000 event, to the final standings and placements, as well as how much each three-player team earned on the day. The trio managed to pick up the single-highest kill game of all 45 teams. The hefty haul, which eventually ended at 72 eliminations, was just six short of the world record. The Code Green champions weren’t the only ones that clocked up some major kill-counts though. Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, alongside Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag and Fortnite streamer Dennis ‘Cloakzy’ Lepore, held the top spot at one point too. While Nadeshot and Cloak are no slouches — especially considering they seem to have put Nadeshot’s hiding tactic to bed after Dr Disrespect roasted him for it earlier this week — it was world champ Scump that shined brightest. He finished with a record 118 eliminations, even racking up multiple team wipes at once. A record 118 elims for @scump today in #CodeGreen for a 3rd place finish. Absolutely insane. pic.twitter.com/h5MLW2Vl9P — OpTic Texas (@OpTicTexas) March 20, 2020 GoldGlove pulls off a perfect parachute flank Outside of the battle at the top, there were plenty of hilarious moments in the Code Green tournament too, which was all but guaranteed considering how many mega streaming names there were battling for a slice of the $50k prize pool in Verdansk. Early in the event, GoldGlove, Tmartn, and Miami Heat star Meyers Leonard showed you can score victories with a bit of laughter too. Rather than focusing on quick eliminations, GoldGlove sailed down behind an enemy and pulled off a hilarious execution before gunning down one final player. This play though! Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, Jaryd ‘summit1g’ Lazar, and Ben ‘Dr Lupo’ Lupo had decided to combine and gun for the win. Unfortunately, Summit1g put an end to that, as one of his wayward rocket shots demolished the entire squad inside their helicopter. “I… I rocketed us. I didn’t know you couldn’t shoot a rocket out a helicopter. I’m sorry,” the streamer laughed. Luckily, he made up for it. Summit had been gunning for vehicle kills, and one particular move was the best of the lot. He slammed straight over two enemies, and distracted a third long enough for Lupo to ride in for a hilarious final splatter. Wait for it😂 @summit1g #CashAppCodeGreen pic.twitter.com/vlyoVH7klN — BoomTV (@boomtv) March 19, 2020 TeePee teases more tournament events after win In the end though, TeePee, Clayster, and Crimsix walked away with $15,000 from their top-score efforts. TeePee, who has been streaming on Twitch since his retirement from the pro scene last year, celebrated the moment with his fans. “My stream started blowing with the new battle royale, so the fact I was able to come out and win this first Warzone one, it was fantastic,” he said. “I’ve played in a lot of these, especially in Blackout. I’m stoked about it man, especially winning with my boys Crim and Clay.” The former OpTic coach even teased some more comps for himself in the near future, and participation in KEEMSTAR’s new Warzone Wednesday series. “We’re going to run it back. Maybe a little Warzone Wednesday action?” he added.
