A lot of Call of Duty fans were waiting in anticipation for the Modern Warfare update to go live on March 24, as it was set to contain new content for both the BR and multiplayer. However, hours before it was scheduled to be released, the dev team announced that the patch had been delayed, and would instead be released “in the coming days.” Tonight’s scheduled title update is being delayed and is set to release in the coming days. This update includes our new Operator, Talon, new free modes, and our next free multiplayer map, Khandor Hideout. Please stay tuned for more details and updates on release timing! — Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) March 24, 2020 Infinity Ward have yet to offer an exact release time for this update. It was originally scheduled to go live at 11 PM PT / 2 AM ET (the next morning), which is a lot later than when they usually roll out their patches. Traditionally, they’ve been released at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET with little to no downtime, other than what’s required to download and/or install the files. However, according to unofficial reports, the developers feared that releasing an update at their usual time would cause too major of a server disruption during primetime hours, especially since so many are indoors and gaming nowadays. “New free modes” teased At this point, it’s not clear what caused this delay, although some suspect it could have something to do with the “new free modes” teased in the tweet. While everything had already been previously revealed, the free modes they mention is news, and rumors are already starting to surface that they could be either Duos, Squads, or both. We already know that Infinity Ward have been play-testing four- and five-player squads in the battle royale, and with Solos introduced last week, what better time than to add those this week. Of course, there’s always the chance that these new modes are for the multiplayer and not battle royale, since Season 2 is still currently ongoing and the developers have to keep all facets of the game fresh and active, not just Warzone. We’ll just have to wait and see. Everything confirmed for the patch Everything else that the tweet touched upon had already been announced for this update, including the new Operator, Talon, and Khandor Hideout, the latest addition to the multiplayer map rotation. Additionally, four more weapons are set to be added to the Warzone’s loot pool: the 725 shotgun, MK2 Carbine and EBR-14 marksman rifles, and the .50 GS handgun. Of course, while not mentioned, it should be safe to assume that the patch will also include fixes for various issues plaguing the game, and maybe even some weapon balancing changes, considering how powerful certain guns have proven to be in the BR. As always, we will continue to bring you the latest intel as more information becomes available.

March 24 Modern Warfare & Warzone update delayed as IW hint at new modes Infinity WardCall of Duty: Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward have delayed a highly-anticipated upcoming patch for the game, which will also mix things up for the Warzone battle royale.
