February 14 is Valentine’s Day and what better way to celebrate it than a new Modern Warfare update, especially one that changes up the game to feel a bit more… romantic? The patch has replaced most of the multiplayer modes’ names with their V-Day equivalents, such as Double Date (Gunfight), Heartpoint (Hardpoint), Friends With Benefits (Ground War), and more. https://twitter.com/CallofDuty/status/1228386378255257600 The update also brought back Gunfight Tournament – an in-game bracket competition for the popular 2v2 mode that awards cosmetic rewards to teams that do well. As for everything else, Tavorsk District has been temporarily removed from Ground War as the devs work to fix some of the bugs on it, and there were also some general fixes implemented as well. Modern Warfare Valentine’s Day name changes and 2XP Infinity Ward actually changed a lot of modes’ names for Valentine’s Day, both on the main multiplayer screen and in the Quick Play filter. In addition the Double Date and Ready to Mingle (Rust 24/7) both have XP boosts active – players will receive Double XP and Double Weapon XP when enjoying those playlists. Other name changes include Hot Singles in Your Area, Wanna Cyber, Punish Me, Looking for the One, Love Hotel, Got the Digits, and Third Wheel. Unfortunately, as comical as these names are, they are only just that, as nothing within these modes and playlists were actually changed. Modern Warfare Gunfight Tournament Gunfight Tournament was first introduced in Modern Warfare back in late November but only for a limited time, as Infinity Ward removed it shortly thereafter to improve it and fix some of the issues. It finally returned on February 14, so players can no go into the popular 2v2 mode an actually compete in a bracket-style competition. The reward structure has slightly changed: players will now receive cosmetic item rewards for doing well, not just winning the whole thing. For example, the current version of the tourney offers different rewards for those who reach the Preliminaries, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and become champions.
