Set in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Favela is one of the most well-known multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2 and the Call of Duty franchise, as a whole. It’s named after the shantytowns scattered throughout Brazil, neighborhoods composed of cheaply built wooden and mud shacks where over 6% of the population live. Needless to say, life in these favelas is far from ideal; living conditions in the makeshift homes are largely unfavorable, with almost no public services provided and no attention given by the government. Charities exist to help improve life at favelas, such as The Favela Foundation. One Reddit user suggested a quid-pro-quo to Infinity Ward, claiming they were willing to donate $100 to the organization if the developers added the map. “Infinity Ward, if you bring back Favela I’ll donate $100 to the ‘Favela [Foundation],’ which provides education to the favelas of Rio,” user ‘aldo_rayne’ suggested. “Who wants to join me?” Several others in the comments section also pledged that they would donate to the charity if Infinity Ward brought back the map, with some even connecting to the issue on a personal level. “I’ll donate $25 just because I know what it’s like to live in a Mexican favela,” wrote ‘SalsaYanke.’ “Not a safe environment for kids, sadly.” Read More: Awesome MW concept combines two iconic maps – It’s not totally out of the question that Infinity Ward could add this map in Modern Warfare at some point. With Season 2 just around the corner, we know that the game will be receiving at least one new map – possibly several. The game’s recent Season 2 teaser confirmed that the iconic Ghost character would be added as an Operator, and also teased the possible return of Rust. So there’s definitely a distinct MW2 flavor about this next this season, and with Favela being one of that game’s most well-known maps, it could be one they end up adding – at least, for charity’s sake. While there’s obviously no way to gauge exactly how much money this sort of project would end up raising, it could end up being very beneficial for The Favela Foundation’s cause. Recently, Activision led a campaign to help raise money for Australian brush fire relief, selling in-game cosmetic items with 100% of the proceeds going to charity, and it successfully raised a whopping $1.6 million. “”Together, the #CallofDuty community raises over $1.6 million dollars for Australian Bushfire Relief”” Details Here: https://t.co/KikTiU57un pic.twitter.com/GKet1IhUkO— Activision (@Activision) February 3, 2020 Even if bringing back the Favela map yields a fraction of that amount, it would undoubtedly still be a sizable donation that the foundation can use to improve life in those slums. However, such a fundraiser would technically go against Activision’s promise to make post-launch content, like new maps and weapons, free for all players. That said, it’s hard to see the player-base taking issue with this idea since it would be for a charitable cause.

Modern Warfare players willing to donate money for Favela map to return Infinity WardCall of Duty players want to see Infinity Ward bring back MW2’s iconic Favela map in Modern Warfare, so much that they’re pledging to donate money to charity in return.
