Cheaters have been a huge problem in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for years now. Activision says they’ve taken action against thousands of accounts involved with using cheats, but the problem still persists. But, in the latest twist to the MW3 cheating controversy, a clip of streamer DougisRaw being killed by an invisible player seemingly shows RICOCHET and its cloaking feature in action. Leading many to conclude DougisRaw had been flagged by the system for using cheats. However, it seems anti-cheat wasn’t to blame for the streamer’s death to an invisible foe. According to a post from gaming news website Charlie Intel, Activision sources confirmed to their reporter this was not a RICOCHET issue. According to their source, the footage in the clip was the result of a bug in the Gulag map and a fix would be provided soon. This was corroborated by prominent Call of Duty streamer, DougDagnabbit. Posting on their ModernWarzone account that a separate Activision source had passed the same information onto them. But the statements from anonymous Activision sources were not enough to convince everyone. Instead, the community became split over whether the clip of DougisRaw was the result of a bug, or evidence of the streamer using cheats. “It’s funny it’s a bug when it’s a big streamer. You guys are pathetic, he got caught cheating it’s simple,” one user argued. Some users also pointed to a previous VAC ban on DougisRaw’s account as evidence to back up this point of view. While other users demanded to know who the Activision sources were. Some users just seemed angry and confused. “You big streamers just defend each other,” one user posted in response to the tweet from Charlie Intel. “Facts, like who is this guy to say he has sources like this?!? Aren’t his sources just other biased, cheating streamers?” agreed another, mistakenly assuming the social media account belonged to a streamer. Still, some fans were convinced, and said they would stand by DougisRaw in the wake of the controversy.

MW3 player causes community uproar after encountering “invisible cheater” ActivisionAn “invisible cheater” controversy has split Modern Warfare 3 fans after Activision sources confirmed clips showing a streamer turn invisible were the result of a bug and not related to the game’s anti-cheat software, RICOCHET.
