When you’re on fire in Call of Duty and completely dominating a lobby, there is nothing better than getting a high-level kill streak to really hammer home your dominance. In years gone by, it was a badge of honor to get seven kills so you could call in a helicopter, a set of attack dogs, or even a harrier strike. Though, things have increased as well. Players have been rewarded with getting up to 30 kills with a nuke, which ends the game and lets everyone know they’ve been completely owned. While high-level killstreaks remain a big part of Modern Warfare 3, there are some players who believe they’ve become “underwhelming” and don’t even stack up to some of the easier-to-earn rewards. MW3 players claim high-level killstreaks are “hardly rewarding” It was a complaint put forward by Redditor Gnarkillo, who blamed the “current era of CoD matchmaking” for making killstreaks “hardly rewarding” and increasingly rare as time goes on. “You can literally take down a VTOL in 10 seconds or so with an LMG. It’s ridiculous. Call of Duty used to separate itself from the competition because of its indulgent streak system, but now it’s hardly rewarding at all. It’s just boring,” they said. “Why bother going for them when a sentry turret in the right place gets more kills. High-level streaks are just bragging rights really,” agreed one player. “I kinda feel like this could be sorted out with some nerfs to gun damage and buffs to launcher damage. Killing the higher steaks with a regular ammo LMG is a little too easy,” another added. “Streaks have been underwhelming since MW2. The real problem is SBMM and sweat culture that plagues all multiplayer games,” commented another. Some argued that they don’t mind air support being easy to take down because “it’s annoying to deal with permanent enemy air support,” while others added they’ve had great success with killstreaks like Chopper Gunners. It is a balancing act for the devs because, ultimately, killstreaks should be powerful but not too overbearing. They clearly have a willingness to change them too, seeing as they’re adding an indicator for Warzone’s precision airstrikes to make them easier to see as an enemy.

MW3 players furious as high killstreaks are much worse than basic ones ActivisionModern Warfare 3 players are tired of high-level killstreaks being “underwhelming” and “boring” as they’ve become harder to earn than ever before.
