The Cargo Truck was revealed to be one of five vehicles in Blackout earlier this week by GameInformer, who have been given early access to the mode. It will be a land based vehicle capable of carrying a maximum of four players – one driver and three passengers. However, the Cargo Truck has several aspects that make it unique from the other vehicles in Blackout. While it is being driven, the passenger players inside are free to move around and shoot at enemies from within the truck. “The cargo truck is particularly cool because it’s a moving platform so you’re not locked into a passenger seat. You can all freely move around the cargo truck.” This means you could have a friend drive you and the rest of your squad around as the three of you stand or lay prone in the back, unleashing fire on whatever foes you come across.” Furthermore, it will have the capability of carrying items in addition to players, making it a good way to get items from one point of the map on the other if players no longer have space in their inventory. However, the truck itself will also have an inventory limit of its own, and items will begin falling out if that limit is surpassed. “I would recommend going to a destination with a lot of stuff, grab whatever you can’t carry, and put it in the back of the cargo truck and take it with you,” In order to maintain a balance within the game and not make vehicles too overpowered, Treyarch has not made it difficult to destroy them. This could especially prove crucial if a Cargo Truck carrying an entire team and their supplies is suddenly blown up with a rocket launcher. Unfortunately, there’s also the danger of putting all your eggs in one basket and then having that basket explode. “We don’t make vehicles complicated to blow up,” Vonderhaar says with a smile. “There is a rocket launcher to find, after all.” Blackout will be released on October 12 as part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Players can try the mode out early in the Private Beta that will start on September 10 for the PS4 and September 14 for the Xbox One and PC.
