On June 7 ESPN’s Jacob Wolf published a report stating that sources familiar with the deal had confirmed that Immortals Gaming Club had won the bid, acquiring Infinite Esports and Entertainment “for cash and equity worth $35 to $45 million.” H3CZ’s bid for Infinite Esports & Entertainment was reportedly beaten by Immortals. With the deal done, Immortals Gaming Club will also take control of OpTic Gaming and their League of Legends LCS slot but will reportedly have to facilitate a sale for the Houston Outlaws due to Immortals already owning the Los Angeles Valiant franchise in the Overwatch League. As for the future of OpTic Gaming’s other teams and the brand itself, Wolf reports that Immortals will have to complete payments for Infinite’s 2017 purchase of 90% of the company for a reported sum of $17 million. OpTic Gaming will now be added to Immortals Gaming Club’s ever-growing portfolio of esports organizations, teams and businesses which include MIBR, Los Angeles Valiant and Immortals themselves. Wolf states that Immortals are currently in discussions about purchasing a franchise spot for the Call of Duty World League in 2020, presumably hoping to attach the OpTic name to one of the city-based league spots.
