Scump says he feels helpless over OpTic\u2019s CDL slide: \u201cHow do you even fix it?\u201d Call of Duty LeagueOpTic Chicago\u2019s Seth \u2018Scump\u2019 Abner has opened up on the \u201cfrustrating\u201d 2021 Call of Duty League season, questioning how his team can \u201ceven fix\u201d its issues after challenging Major losses. There\u2019s no denying it\u2019s been a difficult year for the King and his teammates at OpTic. Despite constantly assuring fans the squad \u201cdoesn\u2019t suck,\u201d they\u2019re still yet to realize their full potential. Following a rough Stage IV loss, Scump even took to social media to reveal his mental health struggles after yet another Top 4 finish. \u201cReally just lost at the moment,\u201d he said back in June. At the time, OpTic had \u2018given up\u2019 on streaming to focus solely on the CDL grind. Weeks later and all members of the team have been live on Twitch once again. Whether it\u2019s grinding Warzone tournaments or casually enjoying their free time in Cold War lobbies, the team has been far more active online. Even though this balance has been restored, Scump still finds himself in a \u201ctough scenario,\u201d he admitted on July 2; he\u2019s struggling with OpTic\u2019s front-facing issues, and how hidden their real progress has been due to hidden scrims. \u201cAll the time we put in every day, scrimming, playing off-stream, then we go to a tournament and we fall short,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt feels like every loss we\u2019ve had at a Major this year has been the exact same. That is what is mentally draining.\u201d Without streaming their practice for the world to see, Scump argues there\u2019s \u201cno validation for the work [OpTic is] putting in.\u201d Despite their losses at the highly anticipated LAN return, practice has been going \u201cwell\u201d throughout the year, he stressed. In fact, scrims have been \u201cpretty much perfect,\u201d over the past few Stages. \u201cWe do work hard and we keep losing, we keep shooting ourselves in the foot,\u201d the CDL superstar continued. \u201cHow do you even fix it at that point? It\u2019s really frustrating. Our year\u2019s been pretty sh***y in the ways we\u2019ve been losing.\u201d Moreover, Scump has grown tired of criticism aimed at him directly. While he\u2019s been playing well and helping lead the Green Wall back to some degree of success, he still gets \u201chate\u201d for his Black Ops Cold War gameplay. The star said: \u201cI get most hate for gameplay which is what pisses me off because I\u2019ve been playing f***ing great and I still get hate. I\u2019m not even playing bad and I\u2019m still getting sh** on. What can I do?\u201d Currently fifth in the overall standings, OpTic has just one Stage left to turn things around before Champs.
