It’s not often easy to determine just how good a player is in an action packed game of competitive Call of Duty, especially in modes such as Hardpoint, so fans and analysts often refer to a player’s statistics, such as their Kill/Death ratio, to get a better read on their in-game performances. One bad habit, perhaps more common among the amateur players, is focusing moreso on their individual K/D ratio, using their teammates as ‘bait’ (waiting for teammates to push first, to pick up easy trades), instead of playing the objective normally, which can hold teams back from their full potential. Following some of the final matches of the CWL pro league, 2016 Call of Duty World Champion SlasheR voiced his opinion that some of his fellow pro players are guilty of “baiting their team.” He also suggested that many fans appear oblivious to this, praising said players for their impressive individual scorelines, not realizing that it could be at the expense of the team’s performance. We know this.” SlasheR followed up by explaining that it requires strong team synergy and good in-game stats to win games consistently and claimed that the final year before franchising has seen even more players looking to boost their K/D: “The people who put up the stats and play as a team win games.
