Despite being widely praised since its March 10 release, Warzone, CoD’s second attempt at the battle royale genre, has suffered a number of bugs and inconsistencies. While this is all fairly routine for a new release of Warzone’s size, players are keen to see all issues ironed out by Infinity Ward. The Modern Warfare developers were also responsible for Warzone, alongside support from Raven Software; the company who helped to perfect 2016’s Modern Warfare Remastered. One content creator who has taken particular issue with Warzone’s shortcomings is summit1g, the veteran streamer known for his versatility and the high level of gameplay he brings to all games he plays. On March 25, the former semi-pro CS:GO player was playing some Warzone when he launched into a scathing rant about the game’s audio issues specifically. “Counter-Strike’s f**king hide and seek mod takes more f**king skill than this whole goddamn game,” he said. “That’s a f**king hide and seek… sh*t! If I was gonna play hide and seek, I’d play that f**king game, man! Can I get some f**king footsteps, please?” “It’s unreal man,” continued Lazar. “I don’t hear that guy until he’s on top of me? Like Jesus there’s no sound effects going on around, no explosions? It’ f**king quiet as sh*t. And I don’t hear that guy until he’s on top of me? Fix your f**king game man.” The concluding portion of his rant was specifically directed at the game’s developers, as he implored them to both listen to the community and implement some “hot fixes”. Summit is not the only prominent streamer to take issue with the volume – or lack of volume – surrounding footsteps in Warzone. Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop, who has recently spent more time away from Fortnite, has previously tweeted to ask for the footstep audio to be turned up. The quietest sounds in the world: -A mouse farting -Snow hitting the ground -Enemy footsteps in Warzone— Jack “CouRage” Dunlop (@CouRageJD) March 22, 2020 “At least in trios I have goddamn eyeballs, but in solos you’re just out of luck!” Summit finished. Many players praised the addition of solos, but summit clearly feels that the lack of teammates affects the ability of players to identify enemies. Infinity Ward have been fairly tight-lipped when it comes to footstep audio. They have appeared fairly resistant to change in Modern Warfare itself, despite some pretty clear player feedback. We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.

Summit1g slams Call of Duty devs over ‘broken’ Warzone audio Infinity Ward/Twitch: summit1gVeteran Twitch streamer Jaryd ‘summit1g’ Lazar has hit out at the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone, demanding they listen to the community, as the game’s audio continues to cause frustration for players.
