While Call of Duty fans seem to be very pleased with Black Ops 4 as a whole, many have been outspoken about potential balancing issues when it comes to certain weapon classes. Those fans will no doubt be pleased to hear that Treyarch have heard their cries and are looking at weapon tuning for an upcoming update. No specifics were given on what weapons will see their stats adjusted, but Treyarch made it clear they have plenty of data to evaluate for an update in the near future. We’ve seen comments and requests around general weapon tuning since launch. We take weapon tuning very seriously and put any proposed tweaks through rigorous internal testing before we consider a change to the game. With that said, we’ve captured a massive amount of input and stats since October 12th, and we’re currently making a tuning pass for a major update coming soon. Stay tuned. One of the most common gripes of many Black Ops 4 players throughout launch week have centered around the SMG class, with many fans on Reddit and Twitter calling for buffs to the class as a whole. In addition to the upcoming weapon balance, Treyarch also revealed they’re taking a look at vehicle behavior in Blackout, death stashes on consoles, and progression losses. An update on the how Featured Playlist feature will operate moving forward was also given near the end of Treyarch’s post on Reddit. There’s no word yet on exactly when these fixes will go live, but given the speed at which Treyarch has been putting out updates since the game launched, there shouldn’t be too long of a wait. Please check out our previous updates to see what else we’ve been tracking since launch to avoid a re-post in the comments: October 12: Welcome to Launch! October 13: Launch Weekend Begins October 14: Zombies Balancing Pass, MP updates, and more October 16: 100-Player Duos, PC Crash Fixes, and more We would also like to take this opportunity to talk about Featured Playlists in Black Ops 4 since we’re doing things a little differently with playlists in this game. You’ll notice we’ve created “Featured” playlist tiles for Multiplayer, Blackout, and Zombies on the home screen. These will change frequently, and will sometimes even include bonus modifiers, like 2XP, for limited times. Black Ops 4 is designed as a more event-driven game, and the Featured playlists will serve to rally the community around different ways to play each week. We also have a “Featured” category in Multiplayer, which includes a showcase of rotating MP playlists. This is where we’ll occasionally feature mashups of modes (like our “Moshpit” playlists), traditional modes with alterations to the rules, fun time-limited modes, and new modes that have never been released before. While we’ll always continue to support the standard playlists in Core and Hardcore, the Featured playlists are there to keep things extra-interesting for all Black Ops 4 players while also maintaining a strong matchmaking pool that isn’t spread thin across too many playlists. That’s it for today! Let’s see what you can find out there today, Easter Egg hunters.
