Permanent unlock tokens are some of the rarest items in Black Ops 4 and deciding how to use them is one of the biggest dilemmas you’ll face in the game. Players will get a single unlock token with each Prestige level, unless you hit level 34 in the multiplayer beta earlier this year, in which case you’ll have an unlock token from the start. When it comes to choosing how to use the tokens, Call of Duty expert ‘TheXclusiveAce’ has provided fans with a breakdown on the top five items to focus on. When Ace was nailing down what weapons and scorestreaks were worth it, he mainly focused on items that wouldn’t be unlocked until past the halfway point of a Prestige in terms of experience points, which comes out to around level 41. Ace also notes that he didn’t include any perks or equipment pieces in his list since they generally unlock early on or simply aren’t worth it when compared to other items that are available. 5. The Gunship (unlocked at Level 54) Being the highest scorestreak in the game and requiring 1600 points to activate, this is only for those who feel confident they can achieve it on a regular basis. For those that can do so, it’s hands-down the best streak in the game and seeing as it unlocks just one level from a Prestige, it’s worth using an unlock token on. 4. VKM 750 (unlocked at Level 46) For all the LMG players out there, this slow fire rate, high-damage LMG is one of the best guns in the game. That being said, it does have the very low mobility to offset its best-in-class damage, meaning it’s a weapon that only the most dedicated LMG players will want to use. 3. Drone Squad (unlocked at Level 51) Another high-level scorestreak, Drone Squad is special in the sense that it doesn’t require any sort of positioning or targeting that’s seen with the RC-XD or Hellstorm. You simply activate it and the squad will get to work. While Drone Squad doesn’t need as many points as The Gunship to unlock, the 1000 points required could still be outside the range of the average player, meaning that this is another one you want to make sure you’re confident in before spending a token on. 2. Saug 9mm (unlocked at Level 52) Widely seen as one of the best SMGs in the game, the Saug 9mm is one of the last guns unlocked, making it a prime target for an unlock token. The gun might not have a ton of range, but it more than makes up for it with great handling and a ridiculously high fire rate. They can even be dual-wielded when the Operator Mod is unlocked. 1. Maddox RFB (unlocked at Level 49) The last assault rifle to be unlocked, the Maddox is arguably the strongest rifle in the game, with best-in-class fire rate and a beefy magazine. The gun has some heavy recoil that must be controlled, but the gun can compete with SMGs at close-range which makes it another strong choice for an unlock token.
