Call of Duty esports has had a rich history full of big names and top performers that have all contributed to the immense growth of the scene into becoming what it is today. With so many superstar and championship caliber players that have graced the competitive scene of Call of Duty, it is nearly impossible to single out who are the best of the best. Reddit user ‘Jasonfive7’ posed this question on the CoDCompetitive subreddit page, opening up an interesting discussion. Who would you have if a ‘Mount Rushmore’ of CoD was made? Mine would be Nadeshot, Crimsix, Karma and Scump. Of course, for those who are not aware, Mount Rushmore is a mountain into which a large sculpture is carved that depicts four of the greatest presidents in US history. Therefore, the term has been made used when referring to the four greatest names in a profession, particularly in sports. The names that the Reddit post mentions all have strong grounds to be in the Mount Rushmore of Call of Duty. While he was never considered the best, Matt ‘Nadeshot’ Haag’s success and electric leadership is the reason why he remains one of the most iconic names in the esport’s history. Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter has a record 32 major tournament wins, and Damon ‘Karma’ Barlow is the only player with three CoD Championship rings. Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, aside from his 28 tournament wins, is often considered to be one of the most talented and dominant players of his generation. However, longtime competitors and former World Champions Patrick ‘Aches’ Price, James ‘Clayster’ Eubanks, Jordan ‘JKap’ Kaplan, Raymond ‘Rambo’ Lussier, Will ‘BigTymer’ Johnson, and others all could make a strong case that they too belong. What about players who have retired to become organization owners, such as Team EnVy’s Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail and OpTic Gaming’s Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez? Those two have certainly been huge contributors to the growth of CoD esports.
