Raid is widely regarded as one of the best maps in Call of Duty history. Designed by Treyarch for Black Ops 2, the map showcased the best of the ‘three lane map’ formula, as well as utilizing a smaller size for some fast-paced action. While the mechanics of CS:GO and CoD are very different – most notably CS:GO being ‘hip fire’ only – one fan clearly thought Raid, one of CoD’s best competitive maps, could successfully be reimagined as a map in Valve’s shooter. The fan made their creation using CS:GO Hammer, “a set of software utilities that allow you to create your own levels, and other gameplay elements”. Now available in the Steam Workshop, the creator then uploaded their creation to Reddit, where it has received significant attention and praise. Reddit user u/LavaDrinker explained that the map took roughly 120 hours to make, and that it was “tedious and difficult”. However, they said they are glad to have done it, given how much they learned in the process of making it. If you want to play the Raid remake in CS:GO for yourself, you can download the map on the Steam Workshop here. “I spent the time to make it solely because it was a map I wanted to play in CSGO, and no one had made it yet,” the map creator said. “It’s still a work in progress as I optimize and fix bugs that pop up, but at the moment it’s in its most finished state. If you guys have any tips feel free to post them and I’ll try them out.” The attention to detail is seriously impressive, with many features reimagined almost completely accurately, such as the swimming pool and hot tub down one side of the map. While some of Black Ops 4’s maps have been criticized for being overly large and complex, it seems some fans are still trying to recreate their favorites – even if it’s in a different game altogether.
