YouTuber reveals whether new 2021 Jaguar F-Type R is worth the price JaguarCars journalist Mat Watson got his hands on the 2021 Jaguar F-Type R sports car for a new video, and explored whether it was worth the starting price. The 2021 Jaguar F-Type isn\u2019t even available for purchase until later this year, but the kind folks at Jaguar hooked Watson up with a bright yellow version for a 700km trek across the winding roads of Portugal for Carwow. Straight away, it was clear the F-Type sounded amazing and seemed to perform well on the wet, cobblestoned streets around the garage where the trip started. Once Watson was on the open road though, he ran into his first issue with how the F-Type R handled on busy European roads \u2013 a lack of automatic cruise control. \u201cWhat is the point of having cruise control in Europe that doesn\u2019t keep you a safe distance from the car in front?\u201d the journalist asked as he tested the system out. \u201cIt\u2019s just useless, you\u2019re not going to use it.\u201d Even though Watson said the vehicle was missing some \u201ckey tech\u201d like automatic cruise control and finer tuned lane-assist, sitting in traffic isn\u2019t where sports cars are supposed to shine \u2013 they\u2019re supposed to have plenty of power, and the F-Type doesn\u2019t disappoint. The base model of the F-Type R comes with a solid 2-liter, 4-cylinder supercharged 300 horsepower engine which only gets bigger along with the price tag. Top of the line models can reach upwards of 450 horsepower with a gnarly V8 turbocharged engine, but you\u2019re also going be paying close to twice as much ($120,000) as the base model.
