Richard Hammond reveals his new car rebuild project DriveTribeThe Grand Tour host Richard Hammond has revealed his new car restoration project in the form of a Jaguar XK 120 \u2013 though it isn\u2019t the only Jaguar he has work being done on. As a part of the iconic Top Gear \u2013 now The Grand Tour \u2013 trio, Richard Hammond has been able to get behind the wheel of some of the world\u2019s fastest, rarest, and most unique cars. Aside from his on-screen work, the British TV presenter has amassed a pretty nice collection of vehicles for himself as well \u2013 though his ownership of a Tesla might be a bit touch-and-go after his almost disastrous charging blunder. Yet, while plenty of the UK is working from home, Hammond is diving into an all-new restoration project. The Birmingham-born host revealed that he, as well as a few mechanics, are working on restoring a Jaguar XK 120 back to its former glory, although it isn\u2019t going to be an instant rebuild. \u201cWe\u2019re going for a total restore on this, ground-up,\u201d the DriveTribe member said, showcasing what parts he has for the classic Jaguar. \u201cThere are bits missing. The chassis, the engine we have, all the running gear, but this is the key bit \u2013 the body.\u201d Though, Hammond did allow himself to jump ahead a few steps and talk about the potential paint job for the car once it\u2019s finished \u2013 but the trio couldn\u2019t quite settle on what it should look like at the end. Aside from that, the car reviewer also revealed that he has another Jaguar XK in the works with the same mechanics \u2013 but that one is an XK 150 and it is ready to be painted and fitted with a few other parts. As for when he\u2019ll be able to take the pair for a spin and have them back on the roads, that remains to be seen as there is still plenty of work to be done.
