There has been some uncertainty about GeT_RiGhT’s future after Ninjas in Pyjamas announced that they would be looking for a long-term replacement for him after the StarLadder Berlin Major. Having spent nearly seven years competing for NiP, GeT_RiGhT’s departure from the team will mark the end of an era. He is one of the organization’s most iconic players, and alongside Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg also one of the only remaining members of the legendary line-up that dominated the first years of CS:GO. Considering how veteran a player GeT_RiGhT is, many fans speculated that being cut from the team he’s spent the entirety of CS:GO’s lifespan playing for might mean the end of his career as a player. It seems, however, that GeT_RiGht isn’t done yet. In an interview at ESL One Cologne, where NiP is currently competing, GeT_RiGhT stated that while his future with NiP remains uncertain, the one thing he’s sure of is that he’s not ready to retire. “It’s kind of very emotional for me to even talk about it because I don’t know what my future is in the team. I know that I’m helping out until after the Major when they’re going to decide what’s going to happen with me, and I’m open to stepping down if that’s the possibility. I feel personally I don’t want to give up on playing, I feel like I’m not even done as a player. I want to show everyone once again that I want to keep playing. We’ll have to see what happens, I haven’t made any decisions, the only thing is I’m not retiring at least.” The statement comes after a strong showing for Ninjas in Pyjamas in the opening rounds of ESL One Cologne. They won their first match against Vitality, who are entering off of a big victory at the ECS Season 7 Finals, and then cruised past Heroic with a 2-0 win to guarantee a playoff spot. They’re now due to face Astralis to determine whether they advance to the semi-finals or quarter-finals. Regardless of the outcome for NiP at ESL One Cologne, fans will still get at least one more chance to see GeT_RiGhT compete for the Ninjas at the StarLadder Berlin Major, taking place August 23 to September 8. Exactly how long after that it will take for NiP to find a suitable replacement for GeT_RiGhT, however, remains to be seen.

CS:GO: GeT_RiGhT reveals future plans after NiP’s strong start at ESL One Cologne DreamHackCS:GO legend Christopher ‘GeT_RiGhT’ Alesund gave an update on his future intentions after NiP’s strong start at ESL One Cologne.
